starts now. Welcome to the MWF Motivation Podcast. My name is Rob Dial, and today,
we are going to be talking about your
New Year's resolutions and how to jumpstart, get a jumpstart on your New Year's resolutions.
And before we do so, if you have not yet subscribed to us on iTunes, Stitcher, or SoundCloud,
however you listen to us, please do so. And if you like this episode, if you know somebody else,
a significant other who you're doing your New Year's resolutions with, who you're sharing it with, an accountability partner or a friend, please share this episode with them because they will help you on your process to having your New Year's resolutions accomplished, which is something that a lot of people do not do.
So what I'm going to go over today should be the first week.
It's in the first week of December.
the first week, it's in the first week of December. And the reason why I want this to come out the first week of December is so that you, the person listening to this,
you have a jumpstart on your New Year's resolutions, 30 to 31 days extra to get a
jumpstart on it versus just starting on January 1st. So we're going to go over your New Year's
resolutions. And today's episode, after you get done listening to
it, I would recommend listening to episodes one through six of this podcast. And the reason why
is because of the fact that I'm going to go over your New Year's resolutions and how to get a
jumpstart. But the episodes themselves, one through six, they deal with specifically the
free ebook that we have, which is called Hack Your
Goals, A Step-by-Step Guide to Achieving Success. And we originally named the book New Year's
Resolutions, but we wanted to write a book that someone could read year round. So we decided to
write a book for someone who wants to set goals any time of year. So that book was originally
written as a New Year's resolution
book, which is a secret I'm now letting out to you. And I would recommend listening to episodes
one through six and also downloading the free ebook. It's only 37 pages. It's at mwfmotivation.com.
And we want to make sure that you're getting a jumpstart on your New Year's resolutions.
But what we need to do is we need to start your New Year's resolutions today.
Today, and use the entire month to get a jumpstart.
Don't start on January 1st. Start today. Start right now.
If you're not driving your car and you have a pen and paper,
I would write down as much as you can right now.
If you need to pause this and then play it and then pause it and play it
and write down stuff in between, it would be perfect.
So we need to get a jumpstart on our goals.
I am taking you through exactly what I'm going to do to jumpstart on my New Year's resolution.
So for instance, if your goal for 2016, one of them is to eat healthier, we'll use this month
that we are in, December, to buy different types of food, to try new recipes, and to get ahead starts by
January 1st, you're already cranking. You're already ready to go. And in your New Year's
resolutions, there should be six parts to breaking down your New Year's resolutions. And we'll go
over each one of them in this episode. And then once again, if you want more in-depth, download
the book, listen to episodes one through six of this podcast. So section one, the first section of
goals that we're going to go over is relationships. So if you have a pen and paper, write down
relationships and write down what do you want your relationships to look like in 2016? Do you want to
find a significant other? Do you want to build a stronger relationship with your current significant
other or build a stronger relationship with your current significant other or build a
stronger relationship with your kids or go to more of your kids' sports games? Do you want to build a
better network of successful friends? Do you want to build a new top five, the top five people that
you surround yourself with the most, the people that are around you the most? Do you need to get
rid of or spend less time with certain
people? So those are questions for you to ask yourself and to really dive in and figure out
what you want for your relationships. Write down your answers to these questions. Ask yourself
other questions. You know, write down the answers to your perfect relationship, what that looks like
in 2016, your best relationship with your friends, and who your top five people
you need to spend the most time with. And write down the steps that you need to get there and
give yourself some dates to have these actual steps accomplished by. You need to have a deadline
for each step today. That's the good thing about that you really want to understand is
you have the entire year to accomplish some goals, but you need to kind of break it down into monthly or quarterly goals. I'd recommend monthly
just to make sure that you're on track. So for instance, example, my goal is to build a bigger
network of friends who are professionals in network and internet marketing. And how will I
hit that is continue to reach out to my current friends that I have for some intros, but then to also go to networking events. There's a thing called the
internet marketing party, which is once a month in Austin. I go to that every single month to try to
get to meet new people and to build my network. So that's one of my goals is to build a better
network and get to know more people in that industry. And there's actual steps of how I go about doing
so. So that's an example for you. So that's number one. Section number two of your goals
are your personal growth goals. So questions to ask yourself, how many books will you read this
year? How many books will you read this month? Or how many are you going to read each month?
So if you want to
read 12 books, that's one book a month. How many podcasts will you listen to a day? Have you found
a specific podcast that deals with the topic that you want to learn or get better knowledge in?
If you're wanting to learn a specific thing and get better at a specific thing in your business
or to start a new business, try to use Google and see if you can find a podcast
that deals directly with what you're trying to do.
So an example of how you can get a headstart
in this category this month of December
is if you're not a big reader,
make it your mission to read one book in December
and get a headstart and get used to making the habit
of reading and making reading a habit.
Or if you want to listen to more audiobooks too, I'd recommend also listening to audiobooks.
If you go to, I've told this before, but if you go to mwfbook.com,
you can actually try audible.com out for free.
They'll give you a free book to try out.
And that just goes directly through it.
So mwfbook.com, they'll give you a
free trial on audible.com. Free 30-day trial, and then you can also download a free book for it. So
try that out if you want to start getting into listening to more audiobooks. So that's number two
is the actual personal growth development side of your goals. Section three of your goals
would be spirituality. Do you want to go to church
more? Or are you not a religious person and you want to meditate more? Do you want to finally get
into meditating? Maybe you've never done it before and you want to go on YouTube and see videos of
exactly how to do it. Because I know a lot of people are apprehensive of meditating because
they don't know what you're supposed to do. It's literally just, you kind of do nothing and let your brain calm itself down.
Your brain will go crazy at first, but it'll start to calm itself down. So do you want to
get into meditating or do you want to read or listen to podcasts that will help you find peace
within yourself? So that would be under spirituality. Do you want to improve in 2016 on your spirituality?
And if you want to start meditating on January 1st, why not try to make it a habit and start
trying it out and getting used to it today in December before you get into January 1st
to then make sure that you're having a head start on your goals.
then make sure that you're having a head start on your goals. Number four, section four of your goals should be your finances. This is usually one of the biggest ones. I would say physical
and finances are the two that people usually put the most time into. But finances, how do your
finances look today? And what are your goals for finances of 2016? Do you have student loans that you want
to make larger payments to or to get rid of? Do you have a certain amount of money that you want
to save up for? Do you want to save up enough to make a down payment on a house? Or do you
want to get a car, get your car fixed? How much money do you want to save in 2016? And what do
you need to do each month to make sure that you do that? So let's say, for instance, you want to save in 2016? And what do you need to do each month to make sure that
you do that? So let's say, for instance, you want to save $6,000 for 2016. Well, what can you do
today to start making sure that you're saving $500 per month? So by the time January rolls around,
if you save $500 per month, that will add up to your $6,000 for the whole year. Do you want to
eat out less to save up more money? What could you do today, today, not January 1st, today to start setting yourself up to save more money when
January 1st comes around? So that's the finances. Section five would be your career and your
business goals. What do you want 2016 to look like for your career and for your business?
2016 to look like for your career and for your business? Do you want to work really hard this year to impress your bosses, to get a raise or to get a promotion before the end of the year?
What do you want five years from now? What do you want your career to look like or your business to
look like? And what can you do this year to set that up? Do you want to start a side hustle in
2016 and actually do something on the side of your
normal job to make some extra money?
So maybe you could travel more, put more money into your kids' savings or their college
accounts.
What is it that you can do today to make sure that by January 1st, you are ahead of where
you are right now?
For example, I'll give you an example of one of my goals in this category.
My goal, which is kind of a finance one, I guess as well,
but it's more of a business goal, is to be making an extra $5,000 in passive income by March 28th.
And the reason why is because that's my 30th birthday. So I want to be making at least $5,000
in passive income by March 28th. And I will tell you this, it will happen. And the reason why is
because I am going to make this goal my mission
for the first three months of the year. So that's an example of my career and business goal for
2016, one of them. Section number six, the last one of your goals is physical. So physical is
usually a big one that people want to try to improve on. What do you want to look like by
the end of 2016? What do you want your eating lifestyle
to look like? And notice I said lifestyle, not diet. I'm going to tell you this right now after
having about eight years now of trying to become better physically and really making it a mission
and working out four to six times a week. Diets do not work. So stop trying to figure out diets,
what diet works the
best and how you can lose the most weight or get in the best shape in the quickest amount of time.
Cut that out and just realize you're going to have to dedicate time to doing it the right way.
Diets do not work. They are lifestyles. You need to have a complete lifestyle change. In order to
be successful with your physical changes, whatever you're trying to do, your health,
you have to change your whole lifestyle. It has to become part of what you're trying to do, your health, you have to change
your whole lifestyle. It has to become part of what you do day to day, not just a temporary diet.
Cut that crap out. I hate the word diet in general. So another example, what types of
recipes can you find right now to help your family and yourself eat better if that's one of your
goals? What conditions do you have right now that you can get rid of through healthy eating or through
lifestyle changes? What medication do you have that you want to get off of? Have you ever Googled
what type of alternatives there are for the medications? Maybe there's an herb that helps
that. There's a ton of herbs that help with different, you know, take the spot of different
medications. Try to look into that and see if that helps you with your health. I'm not a doctor,
so I'm just giving you an example of stuff that I've done to make sure
that I never take any types of medications and try to go the natural way of doing so.
So an example, what do you want to look like by the end of 2016?
Why don't you go online, find the picture of the perfect body for you, whatever you
envision as the perfect body, and put it somewhere where
you're going to see it every single day. Not sometimes, don't put it away where you see it
once a week. See it every single day, possibly multiple times a day so that you see it. Like,
for instance, put it in your mirror or in your closet where you'll see it every single day.
It has to be a visual thing to get you motivated to get your butt up and go to the gym if that's an example. So I would recommend 100% having a dream board or a picture of the perfect body of whatever it is
and put it up where you see it every single day. Put your goals, your most important goals,
your one, two, three most important goals, get a dry erase marker and put it up on your mirror
so you see it every single day and you remind yourself your goals every single day. So those are the six different categories you want to go through.
And with each one of them, with each goal, say if it's December 2nd today, and you're reading
these goals that we've just completely written down, you wrote down all of your goals, you paused
it, you played it, you paused it, you played it, you wrote down all of your stuff in between,
say, what can I do right now to make sure that by the time December
is over and January 1st rolls around that I am freaking cranking on my goals? That's the thing
that I would recommend. And like I said, if you want to go more in depth, go to mwfmotivation.com
