And I've been putting up every once in a while, a couple short two to three minute videos on Facebook, just with some quick information for you. So no matter what you're doing, if you're scrolling through your newsfeed, you could see a quick inspirational or motivational or success tip, whatever it might be to help you out. So you
Starting point is 00:01:43 can do that if you'd like to on Facebook or Instagram. And what I'm going to be sharing with you today is something that Tony Robbins talks a little bit about. And he says, success leaves clues. And I wanted to dive deeper into that. And I wanted to ask you a question. If I were to give you a set of keys, say it was one of those big, huge janitor keys, the biggest one you ever have seen in your entire life. And there was 10,000 keys on that. And I said, behind this door right here, there's $1 million. If you can get through this door, I will give you the $1 million that's behind that door. And I will promise you this,
Starting point is 00:02:23 out of those 10,000 keys, one of them will open this door so you can get to the $1,000,000. Would you spend your time going through and trying every single key until it opened that $1,000,000 door? Even if it was the last key that you tried, the 10,000th key, would you do it? And the answer is yes, you would. And if you said no, which you probably didn't, you're completely full of it. You know you would. I know I would. I know everybody would.
Starting point is 00:02:53 And this is an analogy that I want you to understand. Success in anything, whatever it is in life, is exactly like having the key to unlock the door to being successful at it. Now, what you need to do in order to be more successful and to be successful quicker and to find these keys quicker is to pay attention to those who are successful in what you already want to do. If you want to be a successful musician, study successful musicians. How'd they get there? Did they play live a lot? What did they do? Do they practice their vocals? Whatever it was, what did they do to become successful? And what you can do if you want to be a painter is study the painters. What did they do?
Starting point is 00:03:35 What kind of process did they go through? How many hours did they put into their craft? It's probably, if I were to take a guess, about 10,000 hours that they put into that craft. See where the 10,000 keys are coming from? Usually comes from about 10,000 hours. Now, what you want to do is you find whatever it is that you want to be successful in, and you find that person who's already successful at it. And if you can't access them, say you want to be successful with finances and you can't get a hold of Warren Buffett, you can't just give him a call or walk up to his house. He's written tons of books. Maybe you can read his books. Maybe you can read the books that he read when he was coming up to be successful as well. If they are accessible to you,
Starting point is 00:04:17 I live in Austin, Texas. There's a lot of successful people here. Seek them out. See how you can find them, find their Twitter, find their email, and just reach out to them. Ask if you could take them for coffee. This is why mentors are so important. It's because they already have the keys to be successful because they've already gone there. All you have to do is just try to pick their brain. Whether you can sit down with them, ask them questions, or whether you look them up on YouTube and look at their interviews, or whether you read the books that they have written. And if they haven't written any books, maybe you find the books that they have read and said that they have read. Google them and find, you know, say you want to be a successful musician and you love Ed Sheeran, whatever it might be, you Google Ed Sheeran
Starting point is 00:04:57 success, Ed Sheeran success on YouTube, whatever it might be that you're into. It will show you how those people became successful and the steps that they took in order to be there. Because you have to realize no matter what it is that you want to be successful at, whether it's sales or finances or being successful with people or have successful health or a mindset or have a successful relationship, no matter what it is, there's principles to be successful in whatever it is that you want to be successful at. Say you have somebody, say you're brand new, you just got married, you're newlywed, and you really
Starting point is 00:05:35 love this person. You want this to last for the rest of your life because you know that 50% of marriages end in divorces. Well, then what I would do if I were you is find some people who have successful marriages, sit them down and say, hey, listen, I really love this person. What can I do to make sure that I don't screw it up or to make sure that person doesn't screw it up? How can we work together? What did you do? Can I ask you questions? And try to build from what they tell you. You know, when I was a brand new sales rep, I was a crappy sales rep when I first started selling Cutco at 19 years old. And I was horrible for four months until I said, who is the number one person in my office? Okay, that guy's the number one person in my office. What can I do to do exactly what he
Starting point is 00:06:15 does? I went up to him and I said, hey, listen, I know that you're a really good sales rep. I've been struggling. Is there any way that I can come on something that's called a field training? Can I come on a field training with you? And that is where I went to his appointments and watched him actually work with customers. I watched him do three appointments in one day and I was 19 years old and I saw him make over a thousand dollars in a few hours. And that was more money than I have ever had in my entire life in my bank account at that point in time. And so what happened was I took notes on everything that he said because he was already successful. And all I did was try not to reinvent the wheel and do exactly what he did and say exactly what he said. And guess what happened? I started making
Starting point is 00:06:58 sales. I started being successful. And I was the number one rep in my office the next quarter after that. Because all I did was I found that one key that made me successful. And it made me a ton of money as a college student working to try to get a degree. So what you want to do is you want to model somebody who is already successful at what you want to become successful at. I give this analogy on an actual podcast that I was on not too long ago, and it was like a grocery store analogy. And I'm somebody who I love to be efficient. I don't like to just wander around and waste time for stuff. I am one of those guys who they say guys don't
Starting point is 00:07:40 like to ask for directions. That's complete crap. I ask for directions. I ask whenever I can so that I can get to wherever I want to be as quick as possible. If I walk into a grocery store and I want to get something, let's say I want to get peanut butter. I don't know where peanut butter is. I'm not going to waste my time walking down every single aisle to try to find peanut butter looking on both sides of the aisle. I'm going to walk up to somebody who works there and say, hey, what aisle is peanut butter on? And if they say, oh, it's in aisle eight, then I will go to aisle eight. If they have time, sometimes they'll walk me there. They'll literally take me to the peanut butter. That will save me so much time, so much headache so that I can then get the peanut butter that I want. So that analogy is exactly the same with anything that you want in life. There's somebody who's already been successful at what you want to be successful at. Find them. If you can't find them in person and meet with them in
Starting point is 00:08:34 person, read the books they've read, read the books they've written, whatever it might be, you'll get to that peanut butter. I'm doing air quotes, the peanut butter quicker because you will be able to not have to go down all of the aisles and see, oh crap, it's not in this aisle. Oh crap, it's not in this aisle. Same thing. Oh crap, success is not here. Oh crap, success is not here. Where is it? I'm going to ask this person and see if I can shorten my learning curve so that I can then get there to be quicker, get there to be successful quicker. So what I want you to do is this, study your craft, whatever it is that you want to be successful at. If you want to be successful just in life and business in general, if I were to say you were to read one book in your entire life,
Starting point is 00:09:16 and this is probably one of the one books, I would say the one book that really changed my life. It's a book called Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. And this was a guy that studied all of the most successful people in the early 1900s and literally puts down the keys to be successful by all of these hundreds of very, very successful people like Henry Ford and Carnegie and all of these people that he actually interviewed and found out the principles to success. He wrote them down in a book. Guess what? About a hundred years later, those principles to success are still the exact same principles to success today. So success leaves clues. If I were to give you a key ring with 10,000 keys on it and said, there's a million dollars behind there, would you take your time and
Starting point is 00:10:03 go through every single key? You would. You wouldn't become afraid of failure. You would go. And a lot of those keys, 9,999 keys would not work. That would be 9,999 failures, but you would not give a crap because you would keep going in order to get to the other side of that door. So remember that. Remember to seek out the people that are the most successful. Remember that no matter what it is that you want to be successful at, sales, finances, relationships, your mindset, health, whatever it is, there's already successful people out there who have been in your shoes. Seek them out. Seek out their books. Seek out any information you possibly can and do what they tell you to do. And you will
Starting point is 00:10:45 ultimately become successful. You will get failures just like those 9,999 keys, but you will ultimately get past that door and get to the $1 million. So with that, I want to leave you the same way I leave you every single time. Besides trying to be successful and make your life better, make it your mission to make somebody else's day better as well. Whatever you can do, I appreciate you and I hope that you have an amazing day. Well, that's it for today's podcast.
