You're going to get a text message from me and it's just going to be some motivation to kind of help you throughout the day. So if you listen to this podcast, it's because you like short to the point, no BS podcast episodes. Well, I'm going to send you some short to the point, no BS motivational text messages as well. So go ahead and text me on that number and I would love to send you some motivational texts. Today, we're gonna be talking about how to truly find your passion.
Starting point is 00:01:08 This is probably maybe the most common question that I get asked. And I'm gonna tie it to success and talk about success because I think all of these go together. Usually when people reach out to me, if I look back through messages or I look back through, like I said, these text messages, when people send me text messages to the phone, I sit there and it's like 40, 50% of them say, how can I find my passion? How can I find something
Starting point is 00:01:35 that I love to do? And there's one way that I know that helps people find their passion more than anything else. And it comes from Japan. It comes from a place called Okinawa, where it is the most 100 year olds in the world. So the most 100 year olds in the world live in Okinawa because these people live a life that they're truly passionate about. So if you want to be successful, if you want to live a life that you're passionate about, and if you want to live to over a hundred years old, this is probably a pretty good episode for you to listen to. So grab your pen and paper because, uh, I would recommend that if you're not driving your car, you grab a pen and paper and you put me on pause. Reason why is because you're going to want to take some notes and actually journal through this a little bit
Starting point is 00:02:19 and start to figure out what you're truly passionate about. And I have, and this is in no sort of way, I don't want to seem bragging at all. I have been able to build what most would say is a very successful life, a very successful business, and to be able to see a lot of success at a young age. And I think it boils down to this because people say, how do I become successful? How do I, how do we become a multimillion or all of this stuff? And I'm going to tell you the easiest way to get there. Okay. The easiest way to become successful. It's, it's going to be pretty obvious to you when I say this is to work your ass off. The easiest way to become successful is to work your ass off. Now, you can work your ass off doing something that you absolutely hate and you can struggle your
Starting point is 00:03:11 way to success. And there are many, many people that struggle their way to success. They hate what they do, but they just work their ass off all the time. And guess what? They get to quote unquote financial success. I don't know if I would say life success if they hate what they're doing and they hate their job and they hate their waking hours, but you could say financial success, right? So the only way to get their financial success really, or just success in life is just to work your ass off. The way to get to success by working your ass off and enjoying it is to do something that you absolutely love. So if you love what you do, you'll work your butt off.
Starting point is 00:03:54 And if you work your butt off, you'll become successful. And it doesn't matter what it is. It could be anything. Like I'm literally looking, I'm thinking about my business, I'm thinking about other people's business. And then I have right next to me, a glass of kombucha. And I was about to say, if you just, if you, if you love kombucha and you just work your ass off of building the perfect version of it, and you try to get it perfect and the flavors and the sugar content and all of that stuff, and you get really good and just really market it hard and you put all of your time, energy, effort into it. If you've got a good
Starting point is 00:04:28 product and you're working really hard and you're improving the product and you're improving the marketing and you're getting it out there, you will eventually be successful because you are outworking everybody else, right? You can get to success by working your butt off, of course. But then why do you want to continue doing that? Why don't, if you're going to work your butt off, why don't you just do something that you love? And if we're talking about doing something you love, I'm going to show you how to find out what you truly love and what you truly are passionate about. But the way that I see it as corny and cliche as a phrase is, if you love what you do, you'll never work another day in your life. It's absolutely 100% true. I don't feel like I work. I freaking love what I do. If I did not get paid to do what I do, I would still be obsessed with it. I would still research neurology, psychology, early
Starting point is 00:05:15 childhood development, why the brain does that. I would still read the books. I would still go to the conferences. I would still do the psychedelics to expand myself and my mindset and my consciousness. I would still do all of this. But the best part is I have built a business around all of that. And isn't that truly what we all want to do? To find something that we absolutely love and to build our lives around it and our business including in there? Including in there? Of course we do. So the thing about it is when they say you'll never work another day in your life is if you truly love what you'll do, what you do, like you truly love kombucha and you just want to build this company, you will work your freaking tail off because you love to do it. And if you work your tail off because you love it so much, eventually you will become successful,
Starting point is 00:06:03 financial success, life success, joy, happiness, whatever success is to you, it doesn't just have to be money. Sure, it could be money. It could be a $10 million business per year, but it doesn't necessarily have to be just that. So then let's take a step back. In order to be successful, you have to work hard. In order to work hard, you should love what you do. In order to love what you do, you have to what? You got to know what you love, right? You got to know what it is. And so I'm going to be taking you through the ancient Japanese technique that I told
Starting point is 00:06:36 you is from Okinawa, and it involves a thing called ikigai, I-K-I-G-A-I. So for those of you guys that are ready to start writing some stuff down, here we go. And you can pause me as much as you need to, okay? I'm going to ask you four questions. And if you're driving, you can still think about this. You don't have to, you know, I would definitely go back and journal through it. Don't just listen to it and never listen to it again. I would journal through it, go over it over and over and over again. I'm going to ask you some questions and I want you to think about this. If you have a pen and paper, you're going to go ahead and pause me. Okay. My first question is what do you love? Okay. And this, this can be anything. This could be puppies. This could
Starting point is 00:07:13 be the sunshine. This could be personal development. This could be reading. This could be your family. What do you love? What do you like? Absolutely love. And in write down as many things as you possibly can. So you can push pause right now, write down as many things you possibly can. And when you feel like you've gotten to the end, keep writing. You can write down sunshine. You can write down, you know, a pop tart in the morning. You could write down a good glass of water on a hot day. You could write down cars. You could write down, you know, videography, photography, traveling, driving your car, racing. I mean, there's a million things that you could love. And what I want you to do throughout this is to take the restrictors off your mind because immediately we go, well, I do love the
Starting point is 00:07:57 sunshine, but I can't get paid from that. Well, actually you could, there's, there's billion dollar businesses built around just the sunshine. So, you know, I don't want you to think I can't get paid from this. I don't want you to think that at all. I just want you to sit there and go, what do I love? And just write down every single thing, no restrictions. Okay. Go ahead and do it. Press pause if you need to. Next thing that we're going to talk about, and I want you to write down is what am I good at? Okay. What am I good at? Write it down. Maybe you're good at, you know, making breakfast. Maybe you're good at being a father. Maybe you're good at driving the car. I don't know. Maybe
Starting point is 00:08:35 you're good at painting. Maybe you're good at singing. What are you good at? Right? What do you, and what do you, what can you get better at too? Like, what are you pretty good at? Just write down a hundred things that you love. Write down a hundred things that you're better at too? Like, what are you pretty good at? Just write down a hundred things that you love. Write down a hundred things that you're good at. Just write down as many things you possibly can. Once again, no restrictions necessary. What are you good at? Okay. Next one. What can you be paid for? Okay. What could you be paid for? You could be paid to drive an Uber if you want to. You could put that down. You could be paid to be a salesperson. You could pay to whatever it is. You know, you can get paid to be a manager, leadership, trainer. You get paid for a lot of different things. What can you be paid for? Write down a hundred things that you
Starting point is 00:09:14 can think of off top of your mind that you could be paid for. Ready, set, go. And then last but not least, what does the world need? What does the world need? Okay. What does the world need? And you just write down as many things as you possibly can in there. So what do you love? What are you good at? What can you be paid for? And what does the world need? Those are the four questions that you want to answer. Now, if you find something that you love and you find something that you're good at, that could be your passion. When you find something that you love and that you're good at, the things that overlap there, that's stuff that you're passionate about. When you find what you're good at and what you can be paid for,
Starting point is 00:09:57 that can be your profession. When you find what you can be paid for and what the world needs, that is your vocation. When you find out what the world needs and what you love, that is your mission. Now, if you can find something that you love, that you're good at, that you can be paid for, and that the world needs, you have found your ikigai. Ikigai stands for way of being, your purpose in life. That's what your ikigai is. Your ikigai is your purpose in your life. So now you found your purpose in your life. You can find something that overlaps. Now, here's the thing. I never knew about ikigai before I started doing what I'm doing now. I probably would have started it,
Starting point is 00:10:43 you know, years before if I would have known about Ikigai, I didn't find out about it until after the podcast and after I was doing, you know, what I was doing. But if you look at, if I were to write down and see how, what do I love? I love personal development. Like I can't, hindsight's 2020, obviously I'm looking back now, but if I were to look at this, I would have noticed a lot of overlaps. This was eight years ago. I started the podcast about five years ago, four and a half years ago now. What do I love to do? I love, you know, speaking in front of people. I love personal development. I love teaching people. I love helping people. I love feeling like I'm making a difference in the world. What am I good at? I'm good at speaking in front of people. I'm good at producing videos.
Starting point is 00:11:26 I'm good at making, you know, writing things that make people feel something. I used to do a lot of songwriting. So it allows me to, you know, create scripts and viral videos. And if you just follow my podcast and you don't follow my Facebook, I have over 1 billion views, which actually about probably about 1.5 billion views on Facebook from videos I've created. I've had videos do 93 million views on Facebook, viral videos. And so, you know, one thing that I'm good at is writing something that makes somebody feel something, right? What can I be paid for? I can be paid to teach. I can be paid to speak. I can be paid to
Starting point is 00:12:00 make videos. I can be paid for all of those things. What does the world need? I think the world needs more belief in themselves. It needs more motivation, needs more education, needs more people teaching you to get outside of the box that society puts us in, right? So if this were eight years ago and I were to do this, I would have found my overlaps eight years ago instead of four and a half years ago.
Starting point is 00:12:24 What do I love? What am I good at? What can I be paid for? And what does the world need? All of those overlap to make my Ikigai and what I'm doing now is my Ikigai. That's why I can work as hard as I do. I don't feel like I'm working. That's why today's Sunday, I had calls. We're building a sales team. We're changing the world in a way. So I had about four hours of work on a Sunday, which isn't normal, but I don't, I don't feel like it's work. Like I actually enjoy doing it. And so you think about it and you go, yeah, that's kind of what I want to find. Because what happens is if you find your icky guy, you find your purpose in life, what you're really here for, then you can work really hard and it
Starting point is 00:13:06 doesn't feel like working. It just feels like breathing. It actually gives you energy to work hard. It doesn't drain you. It gives you energy. You work so freaking hard because you love, love working and doing what you're doing because you don't view it as work. And when you work that hard, success will come. It's just inevitable. See, all too often people will just work really, really hard and then they think that success is going to come. But if I were to give you a shovel and send you into my backyard and say, hey, go work really hard at digging holes, all I'm going to get is a backyard full of holes, but you're not going to become successful
Starting point is 00:13:45 from it. So hard work is not the only thing that's required to become successful. And once again, I'm not just talking about success and financial is financial success in there. Yes. Because when you impact the world, you change the world, you do what the world needs and you're putting out there your passion, your purpose, the thing that you love to do. You can't help but make money. I promise you that. And so what you need to do is you need to sit down and say, what do I love to do? What am I good at? What can I be paid for? And what does the world need? And if you can find some sort of overlap in all of those, that's where your purpose is found. And if you find your purpose, you find your purpose, the thing that you love, that you're passionate about, that you would
Starting point is 00:14:22 die for, then you'll work so hard for it. And when you work that hard, that's the secret to success. Whatever success is to you, whatever that's financial success, joy, peace, happiness, love, all of those things are found from putting all of your energy into something. So that's what I got for you for today's episode.
