Once again, mondayemail.com and I'll sign you up and it's absolutely free and you'll start getting emails from me with mindset tips to make it the best week possible. Today, I'm going to be teaching you how to get rid of your scarcity. And before we dive into it, I have to tell you, the reason why I think I can talk about this is because I
Starting point is 00:00:50 used to have a massive scarcity mindset, like massive. And it held me back in so many areas of my life. And I didn't realize it until I started working through them. It held me back in my business. It held me back in my relationships. It held me back in my bank account. It held me back in my business. It held me back in my relationships. It held me back in my bank account. It held me back in my happiness in so many ways simply because I viewed the world in a very scarcity mindset type of way versus looking at it through abundance. And so many people that I find hold themselves back with what is possible in their life simply because of what they think, the way that they talk about their life themselves, what opportunities exist, and the way they speak to themselves. But also part of that, which we'll dive into, is their identity of what they believe that they can
Starting point is 00:01:36 do. And I'm going to give you a phrase that I hope you remember forever. And it's something that once I was working with one of my clients one time time and I kept noticing he was using this word over and over and over again. And I was like, no, I don't think you have it right. You're using it incorrectly. It should be this. And the phrase is this, life is not or, it is and. Okay, let me tell you what I mean by that. Life is not or, it is and, which means it's not that I either do this or this, or I get this or this. It's like, I will get this and this. I will be this and I will also be this. And that might not make any sense to you, but it's going to make a lot of sense to you as I give you a couple examples. Because nowhere in the book of the universe, wherever this book exists, does it say that you can either have this
Starting point is 00:02:27 or you can have that. And let me give you a couple of examples. You know, I work with a lot of business owners. I've worked with thousands of business owners and consultants in many businesses over the past few years. And so many, I mean, a ridiculous amount of business owners
Starting point is 00:02:43 stunt their growth and don't grow to their full capacity simply because of the business owner's mindset. Like when I work with business owners, we work on strategies and we work on all that stuff. More than anything else, we work on mindset because the mindset of the business owner is the actual biggest thing that's holding them back. That is the bottleneck. And so, so many of them stunt their growth of their business because they think, for instance, they can either have a great business or be a great parent. Think about that for a second. Those of you guys that are parents, think if you've ever thought this, oh, I can either run a successful business or I can grow my business or I can spend more time with my kids. And it's either or. Oh, I can either do this,
Starting point is 00:03:26 or I could do this. I could do this, or I could do this. Versus thinking to themselves, you know, I'm going to be an incredible business owner, and I'm going to be one of the best parents that exists. Why can't people think that way? Well, it's the scarcity mindset is what most people are coming from. You know, the idea of, oh, I can either be a great parent or I can be a successful business owner. Like I have many people that come to me like this. A lot of mothers think this. Oh, I can either be a great mother or I can run a successful business. No, that's BS. You can either, you can, you can be a great mother and you can run a successful business. Now, some of you are already getting triggered in some way of like, no, that's not possible,
Starting point is 00:04:02 but you don't understand. I have this going on. I have this going on, but I have this and I have time and all this stuff, right? Where did the mindset of or come from? Who says that you have to choose? And you have to think about that. Where did that mindset come from? Did it come from you seeing your uncle who was very successful, but he was a terrible father and you thought to yourself, oh, in order for me to be successful, I have to either decide I'm either going to make money and success, or I'm going to be a great parent. And so, you know, I know all the time that if I were to walk up to any of you that are parents and say, hey, do you want to make more money? Or do you want to be a
Starting point is 00:04:39 great parent? Every one of you would say, I want to be a great parent, because if we're weighing the two of those out, your children matter more. And so this is what happens is a lot of people, their children matter more, which is great. That's the way that it should be. But it doesn't mean that it has to take away from the business. There's no reason why you can't do both at an extremely high level. Life is not or, it is and. I will be an incredible business owner and I will also be an amazing father. People think that they have to, in order to grow their business,
Starting point is 00:05:10 they have to work an extra 20 or 30 hours. They have to work 100 hours a week to succeed. I thought that for years. For years, I worked over 100 hours a week and I burnt myself out. Now, I work less than I ever did before, but I wake way more successful than I ever was when I was working 100 hours a week.
Starting point is 00:05:27 But I don't want you to think I'm not working. When I am working, I am fully freaking locked into working. And that's what it comes down to is in the moment that you're doing something, are you bringing your full 100% presence to that thing? When you're sitting down with your children and you're at dinner, are you bringing full 100% presence to that dinner? Or are you being as present as you can, but also you're checking your phone because you got some text messages and other things happening at work, right? No, it's when you're doing something, you need to be fully locked in. When you're at the dinner table, your phone shouldn't be there. You shouldn't be thinking about work. You should be
Starting point is 00:06:02 fully present with your kids. And then when you're at work, you should be fully locked into work. You know, when I'm doing something, what can I do to be 100% in it? And some of the most successful people in the world get more done in two hours than the average person could get done in 10. What's the difference? Their focus on what they're doing,
Starting point is 00:06:23 their productivity in what they're doing and getting it done so they can move on to the next thing. So many people are like, okay, well now I've got to do this. And they do it for a little while. They get 20 minutes till they've, now I'm going to go to the bathroom real quick. Okay, I'm going to go get water real quick. And they, you know, they take 20 minutes
Starting point is 00:06:38 to ramp up to do something. And then they do it for a few minutes and then they get a text message. And they're like, let me check on Instagram. And so in 10 hours, they're not getting done as much as someone could get done in two hours. One of the most successful people that I know, and I'm not going to talk about just parenting, but I'm just going to, this is just good examples for you guys to understand that scarcity doesn't exist. We create scarcity. I'm going to talk about that as well. But one of
Starting point is 00:07:01 the most successful people that I know is a really, really great father as well. And he plans it out that way. Literally every single time I see him, he's got his journal, he's got a schedule with him. When he's working, he's like a machine, right? He has trained himself to be when he's working, he is working. There are no distractions. He's not checking his phone or, not scrolling on Instagram or checking TikTok videos. He is locked in when he's working. know, not scrolling on Instagram or checking TikTok videos. Like he is locked in when he's working. That's when he's working so that he can get as much done so that when he gets it done, he can go ahead and be with his family. And when he's with his kids, he's 100% with his kids. He has a rule where he does not check his phone when he's with his kids and he's being present with
Starting point is 00:07:38 them, right? So he's a great example in my mind. And I've seen, I've seen people who have been the exact opposite of him. I've seen people and had friends and seen parents where their father was completely absent because all he did was work, right? And I've seen that before, but I've also seen the exact opposite, which is my friend who is like top-notch business person. Like one of the people that I call for business advice.
Starting point is 00:08:02 And then also an incredible father. When I have kids, we'll be one of the people that I call for business advice. And then also an incredible father. When I have kids, we'll be one of the people that I call for father advice, right? So some people think that it's either or. I can either be a great parent or I can be this. And some of you might be listening and you're like, well, that's an example of a father. A mother has to be more present. Okay. Well, there's also people like Sarah Blakely, who was a billionaire. She was a founder of Spanx and she's got five kids and she was having kids and raising kids while she was growing her company into being worth over a billion dollars and selling it for over a billion dollars, right? So it's not either or, it's and, and there's always ways to figure out how to do something.
Starting point is 00:08:35 It's just, are we stopping ourselves from figuring out how to be a great parent and be a great business owner because of the fact that we don't think that it's possible. So it's not or, it's and. daily nutrition to everybody. Because keeping up with the research, knowing what to do, and taking a bunch of pills and capsules is harder than stomach and hard to keep up with. Hey, we all want to turn back the clock, but for some, it's vanity, and others, it's to relive the glory days. For me, I just love waking up every morning with zero brain fog, a clear mind, and to be as energized as I was when I was younger. Because the thing that I've noticed is when I have brain
Starting point is 00:10:09 fog, I do not get as much done throughout the day. But thanks to first person, anyone can take a more active role in their brain's overall health. After witnessing a deteriorating effects of Alzheimer's on their father and grandfather's cognitive health, brothers Chris and Joe were determined to take their brain health into their own hands. 25 years of research and experimentation later, they created First Person, an innovative, precision-targeted cognitive supplement system which uses brain-boosting medicinal benefits of mushrooms to activate the full potential of human cognition and brain health. First Person supplements made with functional mushrooms that aim to stimulate the body's natural production of specific neurotransmitters that trigger activities like mood, energy, and sleep. Some people, another good example of this is like, some people listening, a lot of you guys listening want to become millionaires, but you also want to have a really great relationship because you probably saw, you know, maybe you saw your parents' relationship fail and you didn't like the way that they treated each other and you
Starting point is 00:11:34 don't want that to have happen to you, right? And so you think, okay, well, I can either be a millionaire or I can have a great relationship. I don't know. You could be a millionaire and have a great relationship because then you start thinking to yourself, where did that mindset come from? Where did the mindset of I can either be a millionaire or I can have a great relationship come from? The or, where did it come from? Did you happen to see, like I said, your parents' relationship was kind of in shambles because your dad worked too much? Or did you see, you know, your aunt or uncle, their relationship go down because of something. And it's not just with work,
Starting point is 00:12:07 it's not just becoming a millionaire, it's not any of these things. It's many places in your life. I can either do this or I can do this. No, no, no, it's and. And this is one of the things that's holding people back the most in keeping their mindset in scarcity is it's or. Oh, I can either do this or I can do this.
Starting point is 00:12:21 And you just, it's simple. That's all you have to do. You have to just figure it out. You have to figure it out. There's ways to do both, but you have to decide that both of them are a top priority for you. And you will get both of them done at a very high level. So when you're at work, you're at work. Even if you work for someone else and you're like, I'm still going to become a millionaire. I want to become, you know, the CEO of this company. I want to get move up and up and up, whatever it is. If you're at work, you're someone else and you're like, I'm still going to become a millionaire. I want to become the CEO of this company. I want to move up and up and up, whatever it is. If you're at work, you're at work and you're doing the best freaking job that you can at work and you're blowing everybody else away. Because I would guarantee that if you're working for somebody
Starting point is 00:12:55 else, you're working eight, nine hours a day. Majority of people in that company are not working at a really, really, really high level. They're working, they're getting stuff done. They're doing it, but they're probably at 70, 75% of their capacity. What would it be like if you brought in 100% of your capacity every single day when you're at work? Yeah, you're going to get promoted over and over and over and over again. You're going to be that one person they cannot get rid of. You want to talk about job security? Be that person. And then when you're at work, you're at work. And then when you're with your boyfriend or girlfriend, you're with them. There is no checking Instagram and being on that like you're fully in it.
Starting point is 00:13:28 And they found over and over and over again with great relationships, but also parenting and everything. It's not just about the time spent, the quantity of the time. It's about the quality of the time. How can you be more present and get more parenting done in less time and get more boyfriend and girlfriending done in less time. And there's other people who are like, well, we can either take a vacation or we can fix the car. And I understand that at this point in time, you might not be able to get that
Starting point is 00:13:56 or out of your life, but you can decide that in the future, it's not going to be, well, we can either fix the car or take a vacation and we're going to have to cancel the family vacation because I can't afford to not have a car. You can decide, okay, right now this is an or. Right now it's an or. But this is not going to be an or for much longer. I'm going to figure out a way to make sure that I can take as many damn vacations as I want to. And if something happens with the car, no big deal. We'll get it fixed. I will figure out a way to make it happen. You might not be able to do it right now, but you can do it in the future and you can figure out a way to get there. You know, what would you need to change in your life in order to make that possible in the future?
Starting point is 00:14:37 What would you need to change in yourself in order to make that possible in the future? I will be able to do this in the future. I will not have to choose later. That's what everybody wants. I say this all the time. People think they want to become rich and make money, all that stuff. No, no, no. People want freedom to do what they want, when they want, with who they want. They don't want restrictions. They want the freedom to do what it is that they want. This universe that we live in is ridiculously abundant. Like your brain, my little tiny brain, our little tiny brains cannot comprehend the abundance and the size and the mass. This entire universe is so ridiculously abundant. And when I want to figure out a way to, if I'm noticing something in myself
Starting point is 00:15:20 that I want to change, I usually look to nature. Nature usually has all of the answers. Why? Because we come from nature. And so I look to nature and I go, okay, I've got a scarcity mindset. Is nature scarce? Like, is there scarcity in nature? And you look at a nature and you realize nature is abundant as hell. Scarcity only exists in the human mind. If you look at the amount of stars and the amount of galaxies in the world, our brains cannot comprehend the abundance that exists in this universe. If you want to bring it back and just literally look at nature like here on Earth, if you look at, I love this example because it's a great example. If you look at an apple tree, an apple tree grows and it grows an apple each season to
Starting point is 00:16:00 reproduce itself because the seeds are inside of the apple. And when you see an apple tree make apples, does it make one apple per season? No, it doesn't. I've decided to Google this because I was just curious. They can make up to 800 apples per season. And the point of an apple is for it to be able to drop the seed and for it to be able to roll somewhere else out of the shade and to be able to create another apple tree. So it doesn't create one apple in hopes that it's going to be able to reproduce that way. It creates up to 800 apples per season to be able to reproduce. If you look outside and you look at your lawn,
Starting point is 00:16:40 is it like one blade of grass? No, it's blades of grass everywhere. When you look at flowers, is it one flower that goes from it? No, it's flowers everywhere. And so you have to realize nature is ridiculously abundant. Like it is overly abundant. And so you got to realize scarcity only exists in the human mind. We create scarcity. The earth is not scarce. Do we have like a little bit of water in the ocean? No, we've got ridiculous amounts of water in the ocean, right? So it's like, it's scarcity comes from the human mind. You are creating the scarcity in your life. If your life is not fully ridiculously abundant, you've got to ask yourself, where am I creating scarcity? Because I'm creating it in my
Starting point is 00:17:22 life. Where in my mindset am I creating scarcity? Where am I holding myself back and not realizing how abundant I can be? Like, I'll give you a great example. I'll give you a perfect example for me. When I was buying the house that I live in now, it's, you know, the nicest place, most expensive place I've ever bought. If you follow me on Instagram, you've seen my house, right? And I remember when I was about to buy it, I had bought a house before, but it was way less than this house that I was, you know, moving into. I remember when I was about to buy it, I had bought a house before, but it was way less than this house that I was moving into. I remember calling my best friend, Dean, and we do this for each other sometimes.
Starting point is 00:17:51 I was like, hey, I'm getting really nervous about buying this house. This house is really expensive. It's really nice. I've never lived in anything this nice. I need you to get me out of this scarcity mindset. And he's like, all right, I got you. So we started talking for a little while
Starting point is 00:18:03 and he's like, hey man, think about how inspired you're gonna feel when you wake up there. Think about how amazing it's going to feel to be inside of that house. Think about the quality of every piece of content that you make and how that's going to affect it. So by living there and by paying more for this house, you're actually going to be affecting more people's lives and creating better content and growing your brand and doing all this. So it's like to not buy the house will actually be hindering your life. And I was like, damn, you're right. It's the reason why I call you whenever I need to get myself out of scarcity mindset. And whenever he goes through the exact same thing, right? He was
Starting point is 00:18:36 moving from Florida to Texas. He lives out here in Austin, went through the exact same thing. And so we help each other get out of scarcity, but we are aware now when we're in scarcity. We're aware that when we're holding ourselves back, because we are the ones that are holding ourselves back. And scarcity is not something that we're born with. It's something that's programmed into us, not on purpose. But if you have a scarcity mindset, there's a pretty good chance you got it from your parents. And your parents say, oh, well, you can't do both. You can either do this or you can do that. Which one do you want? You can't do both. And then you start to realize, oh, it's either this or this, this or this, this or this. I can't have everything that I want.
Starting point is 00:19:12 I can't have all of these things because all life is either or. It's not and. And so you start to realize that we have been programmed on accident, on a purpose into scarcity, but scarcity does not exist anywhere outside of the human mind. And so you've got to really start to think to yourself of all of the abundances around you, show yourself of all the abundances, start to notice and become, because this is what it takes. It takes awareness to notice when we slip into scarcity and to realize that we're thinking so ridiculously small when there's infinite amount of possibility inside of every single person that's listening to my voice right now. We're the one that's damning that up and just letting a little bit of potential
Starting point is 00:19:50 out. A little bit of potential out, a little bit of potential out. No, you want to crack that damn open and let all of your potential out. And how you do that is start to notice where you are scarce. Notice where you're scarce in your mind, in your thoughts, in the words that you say, and start to reprogram that so that you can no longer be scarce and start to have all of the abundance that you want.
