Welcome to today's episode of the Mindset Mentor podcast. I am your host, Rob Dial.
And if you have not yet done so, hit that subscribe button
so that you never, never, ever miss another episode of this podcast. Today, we're going to
be talking about how to build the perfect version of your body. But this is not just about your
body. I'm going to use your body as an example. But this could be used in your family. This could
be used in your relationships. This could be used in your bank account. This could be used in your
career. This could be used in all facets. I'm just going to
use body as the example. And the reason why is because everybody looks at their body and goes,
you know what? This isn't, this isn't perfect. I want to improve. Or you look at it and you're
like, Oh God, this thing looks terrible. Right? And whether you have, you know, you're skinny,
you feel like you're too skinny and your, your ribs are showing, or whether you have, you know, you're skinny, you feel like you're too skinny and your
ribs are showing or whether you have a muffin top and you got a little bit of the little bit extra
coming over the little bit extra coming over your belt, no matter what situation that you're in,
I want you to listen to me and I want you to listen to how to actually change your body.
And then I'm going to give you tips on how this relates to all other areas of
your life. And I got this because I was at an event about two months ago and a lady stood up
and we had got done through with a visualization practice and we were visualizing and meditating
and she stood up and she's like, I was visualizing this perfect body that I want. And I realized that I was looking at this perfect
body. She said, she called it the, the size four J-Lo body is actually what she called it. She's
like, I want this. She's probably in her late forties, maybe early fifties. She's a little
bit overweight, but not too much. And she said, I was looking at, I was visualizing this perfect
body, this J-Lo body that I want, this size four J-Lo body. And I could notice
inside of my mind, there was some resisting. Like I didn't think that it was possible.
And then what happened was I got mad at myself for not taking care of my body over all of these years.
And if I would have taken care of my body 10, 15, 20 years ago, it would have made it
so much easier for me to now create that J-Lo body, and because of the fact that I didn't do
that in the past, I feel like it might be impossible for me to create the body that I want,
and I'm going to talk about this, and I'm going to break this down, but first I'm going to talk about this and I'm going to break this down. But first I'm going to give you a quick example.
Okay.
Let's say that you have person A and person B.
Okay.
Person A, you love them.
Like they've been there for you anytime you needed them.
They're a friend of yours.
They've always been there to support you.
They've been there through your highs.
They've supported you and celebrated with you.
They've been there through your lows.
They've picked you up.
Whenever anything went wrong, they were always there for you. No matter what you did or said to
them, they were always there. That's person A, okay? Now, you also have person B, and let's be
honest. You don't really like person B that much. You don't know why you like them. You just haven't
really liked them most of the time that you've known them. You have kind of this negative feeling towards them. It's not somebody that you would prefer.
And maybe we'd even say there's a low level of, all right, let's say there's a low level of hate
towards that person, the way that they act, the way that they are, what they say, whatever it is.
So person A, you love. Person B, you kind of hate them a little bit. Now,
if you had the opportunity to help somebody and they both really needed help,
person A, you love. Person B, you kind of hate. Who would you help? You're going to help person
A, right? Why? Because person A, you love them. They've always been there for you. They've always
supported you. No matter what you've done to them, no matter what you put them through,
they've always been there and supported you, right? Person B, you've always just kind of hated. So why
would you, you know, if you could only help one person, what did you want to help the person that's
always been there for you and that's always loved you versus person B? Of course. Now, what in the
hell does this have to do with building your perfect body?
I'm about to give you a perspective shift
Most people look at the body that they have
And they hate it
They don't you know, they hate it. They're like, oh this body i'm too fat here. I'm too skinny here
You know this happens this isn't you know
I want to look like those those women that are in the magazines or I want to look like those men that are in the magazines, or I want to look
like those men that are in the magazines. I want to have this perfect body, but I just don't have
this body. And I know that I could have the body in the magazines, but I don't. And so because of
the fact that I can see those bodies in the magazines and the ones that are on Instagram,
I hate this body. And people hate or they have a low level of negativity towards the body that they
have. Can you relate to that? Now, let me ask you this question. Why would you want to help
something that you hate? You don't want to help person B, but you do want to help person A. So
why would you help in try to improve a body that you hate? Because you
don't like your body. You hate your body. And I understand not everybody listening to this,
you don't all hate your body. But once again, replace body with anything else in your life.
You're not going to want to help a body that you hate. You don't want to help those that you don't like. You will never help someone
that you hate. Why would you help a body that you hate? Think about that for a second. If your body
was an actual person and you had a negative feeling towards your body or that person,
why would you want to help it? Why would you want to do anything for that?
Think of all your body
has done for you though. Since the moment you were born, your heart has beaded, beaded, beaded?
Yeah, beat. Beaded. So your body, oh God. This is the thing I love about having a podcast
is literally I don't edit anything out so you guys can hear me screw up and be truly authentic. Yeah, I'm not perfect with my words. I'm better at math than I am with words.
Sorry about that, guys. It's just the way that it is. But if you think about it, if you have a heart
that's beat a couple hundred thousand times a day, you have a body that you've given crappy food to
sometimes. You've given greasy food to sometimes. Gluten, tons of heavy
meat, all of those things. You have alcohol that you've given to it. Some of you have given
cigarettes to it. You've been around negative people who have talked down to you, who have
been a negative environment around you. You have thoughts that you sometimes every single day
think, oh God, what an idiot.
Or this negative self-talk that you might have inside of your head.
You have scars.
You have broken bones, all of these things.
And guess what?
Through all of that stuff, your body still supports you through all of it.
It's still there.
No matter how much love you've given it or hate you've given it, your
body continues to work through the crappy food, through the alcohol, through the cigarettes,
through the drugs, through the negative environment, through the people, through the broken
bones, through the negative thoughts. It's always been there. What have you done to be there for it?
you done to be there for it? You have to love something and support something and appreciate it in order to change it. So what I'm trying to make you do is I'm trying to take your visual
representation in your mind of your body and flip it on its head. And now you're going, oh my God,
I've always hated my body. I've always hated that I'm a little bit overweight. I've always hated
that I look this way. I've always hated that I have too many freckles or my acne is too bad or
whatever it is. But in reality, this freaking thing continues to keep going through all of
the abuse that I've put it through. That's pretty incredible, isn't it? So if we want to change our
bodies, we need to first love our bodies because we're not going to want to improve something that we hate.
We'd rather improve something that we love.
It's like going, you know what, I really hate soccer, but you know what, I want to improve at soccer.
No, it's like I love basketball, I want to improve at basketball.
It's the exact same thing. You're not going to want to improve a body that you hate, but you will want to improve
and support and take care of and give the right nutrients and maybe start buying organic and
maybe stop eating so much greasy food and maybe a little bit less French fries, a little bit more
salad. You're going to want to support something that has always been there for you and that has always supported you just like person A. So my goal is to take your
thoughts about your body. And then once again, other parts of your life from person B to person
A. I love my body so much that I'm going to treat it the way it deserves to be treated.
my body so much that I'm going to treat it the way it deserves to be treated.
I'm going to stop giving it this food. I'm going to start going to the gym more.
I'm going to drink more water. I'm going to drink less alcohol or soda. I'm going to love my body so much that I'm going to treat it the way it deserves to be treated. That is how you make a
massive shift in your life. Is this a perspective shift for you? Because I'm
not changing a body I hate. I'm doing it from a place of love, knowing that my body has gone
through so much stuff and I've put it through everything and it still continues to work.
You have to love your body so much and respect it for all of it that it's done that you want
to be there and support it right now. You have to realize all of the things that you've done. The intelligence
that's inside of your body is insane. Like if you think about the fact that if you get a cut
and it automatically fixes itself for you, you don't have to sit there and go,
Oh, all right. I got to fix this with my mind. I got to fix it with mine. I got to fix it with mine. No, it fixes itself.
It's incredible.
So in order to change something, you must love something.
In order to love something, you have to have gratitude for it.
This is why the practice of gratitude is so important.
If you're trying to change your career, if you're like, God, I hate where I work and
I just want to have my own business, I want to have my own career.
Guess what?
You need to have gratitude for the career that you're in, in order to go and get the
career that you love.
In your relationship, maybe it hasn't been going the way that you want to with your significant
other.
But have there been good times in there?
Of course.
So in order to transform your relationship, you have to have gratitude towards your relationship
first because you're not going to want to change something that you hate.
Think about this.
Your bank account.
You might go, oh my God, I've got $24 in there.
I've been there before.
Believe me.
When my bank account started to grow, and this
is not some woo-woo-wee BS type thing, is when I started looking at my bank account every single
day and going, okay, I've got $7 in there. But there are some people in the world that don't
have $7. So I can be really grateful and appreciative that I have $7. Will I have more
in the future? Yes, of course. But I am extremely grateful for these $7 that I have $7. Will I have more in the future? Yes, of course. But I am extremely
grateful for these $7 that I have. Your life, maybe it's not where you want to be, but you're
not going to want to change something that you hate. So if you hate where you currently are,
you're not going to want to love it. You're not going to want to support it.
But is there something that you can find gratitude in, in your life, people that are around you,
things that you've been through, things that you've learned, lessons that have come down
the road as you've gotten older and as you've gone through some of these hardships?
The way to change something is to love something because then you want it to get better.
You have to start with gratitude.
This is something that has really, for me, been massive. And the reason why is because, you know, when
you're an entrepreneur, as I am, and I've been for the past 14 years, I know some really extremely
successful people. And before my business was doing over a million dollars in a year, I was like,
God, I got to get to a million dollars. I got to get to a million. I got to get to a million. Then I passed that number and I have all these
friends that are doing between five, 10, 20, $150 million in a year. And I'm like, Oh God,
I'm only at a million dollars in a year. You know, and you can start as weird as it sounds,
you start to get pissed off because you see all of these people that are so further ahead than you,
just like seeing all of these bodies that are in such better positions than yours. All of these Instagram models that look so much better.
All of these entrepreneurs that I'm friends with are basically like the equivalent of my,
my Instagram models for the body that I want. Right. And I go, Oh God, I'm not there yet.
And then I go, wait, hold on. Look at where I am. Look at what I've been through. Look at how my
life has changed. Look at how my relationships have changed.
My career has changed.
Look how many people love and appreciate the stuff that I do.
Because if you get caught up in always having to feel like you have to grow,
then you're always going to feel, or most of the time you're going to feel,
like you're not where you want to be.
And when you're not where you want to be, you're not going to be happy.
You can't change something that you hate.
You have to love it first.
You have to trust the process of this life
and what you're going through.
And you have to remind yourself this.
It's about progress, not perfection.
So as you look at this body or this career
or this relationship or the family, everything that you have, realize it's not about making all of them perfect.
It's about little tiny progress in every single aspect of them.
Just progressing a tiny bit in every single aspect of it.
But you can't change something that you hate.
that you hate. So what I would recommend is if you're trying to change something in your life,
in whatever it is that you're doing, make sure that you come from a place of love and gratitude.
So that's what I got for you for today's episode. If you love this episode, hopefully it was a perspective shift for you. For me, when I realized this, it was a massive perspective shift for me.
If you love it, please share it with someone that you know and love. Please share it onto
