Welcome to today's episode of the Mindset Mentor Podcast. I am your host, Rob Dial.
And if you have not yet done so, hit that subscribe button so that you never miss
another podcast episode. And last but not least, I have one very quick announcement for you.
I am starting an inspirational clothing brand with a friend of mine who has already started very
successful clothing brands before. And we are making an inspirational clothing brand so that
my team, my crew, my people who follow and believe in the same message that I do, we drink the same
Kool-Aid, can wear our message that we believe in for our lives on our shirts. So basically
affirmations on our shirts. And we're going to make some really for our lives on our shirts. So basically affirmations on our shirts
and we're going to make some really cool stuff, not just shirts. We're going to make an entire
clothing line and I'm going to tell you what the name brand is within the next few weeks.
But if you want to help us actually find out what we want to put on the shirts,
shirts, you can actually go to dialedinclothing.com. So dialedinclothing.com, D-I-A-L-E-D-I-N clothing.com. And there's actually a real quick survey. You can put down the shirts that you like
the most, the name of the actual affirmation that it says on it. And if you put your name and your
email address, we're going to be picking people to actually win free clothes whenever we launch it
in the next month or so. So if you go in there and you're like, these are the four that I like
the most out of the 20 that you have up there, we're going to see which one is the most popular.
And we're going to co-create a clothing line with you guys, which is what's cool. We're going to
survey you, find out what you like, and then we're going to make what you guys like so that you can
wear what you like and we can all wear it as well. And I'm excited to have it. So if you want to go ahead and go to dialedinclothing.com,
you can actually give us the information of what you like the most. And I am so excited
to have you guys be a part of it and to co-create it with you based off of what you love.
So that's what I got for you. Today, we're going to be talking about what parts of life are hard.
And I just actually did a video about this, a Facebook Live inside of my Iron Mind 60 challenge,
which like I said, I normally don't teach the same things inside of that private group
that I do here. But this one was something that I felt like it was on my heart, was like,
I really need to make this video or I need to make this podcast episode so that you guys can hear it and you can really start to think
about this. And here's what I will say. Most people are afraid of hard work. They're afraid
of working hard because their brain says, oh yeah, I mean like you don't want to work hard because
it's going to push you out of your comfort zone. And you might have to have some late nights.
You might have to lose a little bit of sleep. And your brain sees anything that's outside of
your comfort zone, any change as a threat. And so your brain's like, nope, shut it down. We're
not going to work hard. We're not going to work towards your dreams. We're not going to do that.
We're going to try to stay in this comfort zone that we're in. And hard work is hard. That is why it is called hard work.
And I have worked hard of my life. I have for years worked 110 hours a week when I was younger
until I hit my, my midlife crisis at 24 years old. And I remember working really hard,
but there's one thing that's definitely worse than hard work.
What's worse than hard work. What's harder than hard work is being broke.
Being broke is harder than working hard.
I've been really broke before.
I've been five months late on my car payment and almost lost my car.
I've lived off of pasta for two months.
I've been at the point where I thought I was going to have to sell everything
that I owned. And somehow I pulled it together right at the very last second. That was way harder
than working my ass off. I will tell you that right now. That was way harder than me going and
working my ass off because you have to realize that hard work is hard. Being broke is way harder. But the best part is that you,
and you alone, get to choose which hard you want. Do you want hard work hard, or do you want being
broke hard? Do you want working really hard and maybe having some sleepless nights, or do you
want not being able to pay for your daughter to go to the school that she actually wants to because you were too lazy at some point in time earlier in her life?
Think about that for a second.
Because the one thing that I want you to realize is that your lack of hard work, and this is
not me coming down on you guys, this is just me making you realize that if you're broke
and you're not working your ass off, you need to start working your ass off because it's
way harder to be broke than it is to work really hard. and you're not working your ass off, you need to start working your ass off because it's way
harder to be broke than it is to work really hard. And you have to realize this. The working hard
is way easier than sitting up in bed wondering how you're going to pay the bills. The working
hard is way easier than the thought of my children are not getting the education they deserve
because I'm not making enough money. The working hard is way easier than I'm not giving my family the life that
they deserve because I'm not working hard enough or because I don't have the job that I need or
because of the fact that I don't do this or I'm not starting the business that I want to or this
or this or this. There's a million excuses that you can make as to why you're not where you want
to be. There's a million. Go ahead and give them all to me. But the truth of the matter is this. It's way harder to be broke. I know that. Does
money buy happiness? If you listened to one of my episodes a couple weeks ago, I guess,
does money buy happiness? It makes you pretty damn happy. It doesn't buy fulfillment. That's
for sure. But I've done some pretty fun things.
You've probably done some pretty fun things with money. It doesn't necessarily make you fulfilled.
That's what you're really searching for. Happiness is just a fleeting emotion. Does it make you happy? Yeah, you can do some pretty fun things with money. Does it make you fulfilled? No,
that's not what I'm talking about. What I'm talking about is the fact that the life that
you truly want is on the other side of you working
really hard for it. I honestly don't know one success story of someone that didn't work really
hard at one point in time for their success. And the best part is like, after you get through the
really hard, it's kind of like a rocket ship that's taking off and it's, it's like, it's got
to work really freaking hard to get out of the atmosphere. But once it's out of the atmosphere, it's way easier. I feel like, you know, I've, my business is at
that point, I don't have to work near as hard as I used to, which is what's amazing. But I worked
really, really freaking hard when I first started it. And I'm so glad that I did. Why? Because my
life is so much better than it ever has been, but it wouldn't be here. I wouldn't be traveling.
I wouldn't have the life that I have now had I not worked really hard at some point in time.
And I know that you have the opportunity to do the same thing. The only thing worse than the
pain of hard work is the pain of regret. The last thing that I want is to get to the end of my life
and think, I could have done more. Not I could have worked harder, but I could have
done more for the world. I could have done more for my family. I could have done more for my
friends. I could have done more for my mom, for everyone else around me. Is hard work hard? Yeah.
Do you know what's harder? Not being able to pay your mom's medical bills. Is hard work hard? Yeah.
But do you know what's harder? Not being able to give your children the travel around the world
and being able to see the
different cultures and not education, which is better than any type of education that you give
them in the first place. Is hard work hard? Yeah. But you know what's worse? Living in a crappy part
of town and not being able to afford to live in a better part of town, which means your children
get a better education. If they get a better education, maybe they'll get a full ride into
a great college. And if they get a full ride into a great college, maybe they'll be able to make something incredible
with their lives because you have to realize lack of your, your lack of hard work. If you're not
working hard enough, it's not just affecting you. It's affecting everyone else around you.
It's affecting the stability of people around you. It's affecting the stability of your kids.
It's affecting their future. It's affecting your future. It's affecting all areas of your life.
It's the same exact thing when I say, when you go into personal growth,
you're not just changing your life. You're changing everyone else's life around you
because they're always coming in contact with you. It's the exact same thing. When you work hard
and you become successful or you make money or whatever it is
You're not just affecting your life. You're affecting everybody else whose life
Who spends time with you the people who live in the house with you?
And this is the the one the one spot where it really hit me the most
was
Probably about five years ago. I was coaching somebody and uh, this is when I was was was newer into one-on-one coaching and I don newer into one-on-one coaching. And I don't do
one-on-one coaching anymore, but my company's, it's not scalable to be able to do one-on-one
coaching. But the way I started off was with one-on-one coaching. And I was coaching this guy
and his goal is to make $100,000 for the year. He never made $100,000 for the year. And I was like,
okay, tell me why you want to make a hundred thousand dollars. Oh,
I want to make a hundred thousand dollars because of this. Okay. Tell me why. Okay. Tell me why.
Tell me why. Tell me why. Tell me why. Tell me why. And I wanted to find his why. Like, why
do you truly, let's say his name is John. John, why do you truly want to make a hundred thousand
dollars this year? And we went deep and deep and deep and deep and deep. And eventually he said,
the reason why I want to make a hundred thousand000 this year is because my ex-wife has custody of my children. I want to be able to make
enough money to show that I have a great position. I have a great job. I'm making $100,000 so that I
can regain custody of my children. And I was like, okay, that's amazing. Tell me more. Why is that?
Why do you want to get custody of your children? And it got to the point where he said, I want to be able to make a hundred thousand dollars so that I can get a house in a
good part of town so that therefore my children can come move in with me. Because the thing that
terrifies me the most is that because they lived in a really bad part of town and his ex-wife lived
in a really bad part of town. The thing that terrifies me the most, he said, is that my
daughter's going to be pregnant by 13 and my son is going to get shot in a drive by. And I was like, that's it. That's your why.
Do you think he worked hard to make a hundred thousand dollars at that point? Yes, because it
wasn't just his life. It wasn't his bank account that he was working for. It wasn't even his life
that it was working for. He was working for his daughter's life and he was working for his son's life. And that was serious to him. Do you think he worked
hard? Hell yeah, he worked hard. An example that I love to bring up, it's been a long time since I
bought it up. And I want you to think about this for a second is this, is what is the chance of
you making a million dollars legally in the next 12 months? What percentage chance? Go ahead. From zero to 100, 100 being like it's 100% happening this year. What's the
actual real percentage chance of you making a million dollars this year? Answer it out loud.
If you're driving your car, answer it out loud. What's the percentage? I've asked this to hundreds
of people. Usually it's 0%, 1%, 2% chance, maybe a 3% chance. For some of you,
it might be a little bit higher, but usually it's under 5% chance. Now I'm going to ask you a little
bit different of a question. What's the percentage chance of you making a million dollars legally
this year? And if you don't, everyone that you love dies. What's the percentage chance now of
you making a hundred thousand dollars this year?
It's a hundred percent. Everybody says it a hundred percent, a hundred percent, a thousand percent. Now what changed? Did the goal change? No, it didn't change. Still a hundred thousand
dollars. Did the timeframe change? No, still the same timeframe. What changed? What changed? I'll
tell you what changed. You actually care about it. You actually care about that million dollars.
And it's not even the million dollars. What is it that you care about? Oh You actually care about that million dollars. And it's not even
the million dollars. What is it that you care about? Oh yeah, that's right. Everybody's life
around you. So it's not that you don't have the capability of making a million dollars in a year.
And this is, guys, when I say money, money is just an easy example. This doesn't have to be money.
This could be happiness. It could be love. This could be joy. This could be whatever it is that
you truly want in your life. But if you're not working hard for love or happiness or joy or your peace or the
money, you're not going to get what you want in life. And so what I'm saying to you is you truly
have the capability of doing whatever it is that you want. What's in the way? You're not working
hard enough. And the reason why you're probably not working hard enough is because you just don't
care enough. Yeah, I said it right. You just don't care enough. And what do I mean by you don't care
enough? Well, same way where if you had to make a million dollars, there's a pretty low chance.
And the reason why is because it's not really necessary for you to make a million dollars this
year. Like it's not life or death, but when you have life or death and you care about it, you
will, you would, I mean, if everybody that you love's life was on
the line, and I understand this is a very drastic, drastic example. I use this on purpose is because
I want it to be drastic. If everybody's life was on the line that you truly love, you would go to
bed at two o'clock in the morning. You would wake up at six o'clock in the morning and you would
work every single minute from six o'clock in the morning. Hell, maybe even earlier, six o'clock in the morning
to two o'clock in the morning, every single day, you'd sleep for four hours a year straight.
You'd make a million dollars. And what would happen? You truly see what you're capable of.
That's what you have to rise. There's so much potential inside of you,
but there's a part of you that's just afraid to put the work in.
There's a part of you that's just afraid to do it. And once again, I'm not just
talking about working hard for money's sake. I'm talking working hard for your potential to see
what you truly have inside of you. I'm talking about working hard to see what it is that you
could do. Because if you're listening to this podcast, I know one thing about you. You have
the feeling that there's more for you in this world. I've talked to thousands of
the people who listen to my podcast. I know that the reason why you're listening to this podcast
is because you know, deep down inside, there's more that you have inside of you, but you're not
bringing it out. Why is it? Because you just don't care enough at this point. So what's going to make
you care more? Maybe you have to change your job. maybe you have to change your job maybe you have to start
your own business maybe you have to start your own coaching company because then you'd be truly
doing what you want to and what lights you up maybe you'd want to start your own consulting
company maybe you want to work with horses and you know train horses so they can work with
disabled people so that therefore they can you know use them as therapy i don't know what it is
but there's something inside of you that you would work your ass off for. Like you would fricking work for it. What is it? And if you're not doing
it, quit what you're doing and do it. Cause if there's one thing that I know, if there's something
that you love, you will work really hard at it. And if you work really hard at it, you will be
fulfilled. You will find more money than you even thought possible. And you will be happier than you
ever thought possible as well. Because the only thing worse than the pain of hard work is the
pain of regret. Don't get to the end of life and go, Oh God, I stood up, should have started that
mindset coaching business because I really wanted to change people's lives. Oh man, I should have
started that, that therapy horse business because I really think that I could have really helped some people who
had some disabilities, right? You have to think of that. Could you imagine, just think about that
for a second, how painful that would be to be on your deathbed and go, damn it, I wish I would
have done more, but you know what? I wasted it. Oh God. Could you imagine the feeling? And we know, we all know
people who have wasted a life. And maybe you've been around somebody who's on the verge of dying.
Like they only have a few days left and you can see the regret in their eyes, but there's a lot
of regrets of people who are dying because they, they, it's like the blinders are taken off. They
can finally see their life for what it truly is. And go Oh my god, I didn't start that mindset coaching business. I didn't start that fitness coaching business or whatever it is
Because I was afraid of being judged because I was afraid of what my mom would think
I was afraid of what my spouse would think what my friends would think what society would think what people on facebook would think
Could you imagine getting to the end of your life
in regretting something
that's that petty? God, that's got to be so hard. And so I want you to realize that hard work,
it's called hard work for a reason because you got to work hard. But the only thing that's worse
than that pain of hard work is the pain of regret.
Don't get to the end of your life and wish that you would have had more.
The only thing that's worse than the pain of regret,
I guess the only thing that's worse than the pain of hard work is the pain of regret.
And the only thing that's harder than hard work is being broke.
If you're broke, if you're listening to me and you barely have two nickels to rub together,
there's one thing you should be doing, and that's working.
You know, put your headphones on,
put me in your headphones all day long,
and let's freaking work together, right?
Let's work.
You shouldn't be sleeping.
You shouldn't be on your phone.
You shouldn't be on Facebook.
You should delete Facebook and Instagram unless you use them for business.
That's the only time that you should use them.
But if you're broke right now
and you're not taking massive, massive
action, nothing's going to change until you change. You have to make the decision. Boom.
I'm going to start making change right now. I'm going to go work. I'm going to work really
freaking hard because once again, the only thing harder than the pain of hard work,
the only thing that's harder than hard work is being broke.
You get to pick your heart though. Which one do you choose? So that's what I got for you for
today's episode. If you love this episode, please share it with someone that you know and love.
And once again, if you guys would continue to keep sharing this on your Instagram stories
or your Facebook stories and tag me in it. Rob Dial Jr.
R-O-B-D-I-A-L-J-R.
I would greatly, greatly appreciate it.
You cannot see my hands together in the thank you emoji position,
but they are 100% together.
I thank you so much from the bottom of my heart
for sharing this all the time.
And I'm gonna leave you the same way
I leave you every single episode.
Make it your mission to make somebody else's day better.
I appreciate you.
And I hope that you have an amazing day.
