And one very quick announcement for those of you guys that are out
Starting point is 00:00:45 there and you have not yet left a review on iTunes for this podcast, I would greatly, greatly, greatly appreciate it. If you would go ahead and go to iTunes or go to your podcasting app, if you have an iPhone and go ahead and leave a rating and review for this podcast episode, I'm actually going to be giving out a few copies of my favorite book, Think and Grow Rich, to the new people who put up new reviews this week. So I'm going to send it directly to you. I'm also going to send a couple free extra things over to you as well for saying thank you. And that's going to go out to a couple winners. I'm going to pick a few people based on the reviews that come in. And I would really appreciate it if you would go in there, put up a rating and review, and I will be giving out free books to some of the people who I choose that give the best rating reviews. So let's say
Starting point is 00:01:29 the three people who put the best reviews, I'm going to go ahead and I'm going to make the announcement next week who those three people are. So if you would do me a huge, huge favor, go ahead and leave us a rating review. And if it's one of the three people who have the best reviews, I'm going to go ahead and send you out a book of my favorite book, Think and Grow Rich, with a couple fun extras directly from me. So go ahead and leave us a rating review. I would greatly, greatly appreciate it. And we can go ahead in today's episode. Okay. What I'm going to dive into today is a four-part series. This will be my first four- part series ever. And this is going to be called knowledge is power. And there's a couple of things that I want to go over in this. The first
Starting point is 00:02:11 part is going to be ignorance is not bliss, which is what I'm going to go over today. The next one, what I'm going to go over is how to learn from your mistakes. The one after that, I'm going to talk about your problems and how to acquire more skills. And the last thing of the four-part knowledge is power series is going to be about investing in yourself in the correct way to invest in yourself. Because I recommend personally that every single person minimum invest $100 a month into themselves, into their brain, into acquiring knowledge. But today, we're going to be talking about ignorance. And you guys all probably know the phrase, ignorance is bliss. And I'm going to be here to tell you that that is complete BS.
Starting point is 00:02:56 Because what you don't know in the marketplace, in the world, will hurt you. What you don't know will hurt you. So if you think about how knowledge was once acquired, if you think about to your great grandparents and your grandparents, they had to go to school to learn from a teacher because that's where the knowledge was stored. The knowledge was stored in that teacher's brain because they went to school and learned from somebody else. Then you had to learn it. You had to store it in your brain. And the power was in going to school and learning from school. Then eventually these encyclopedias came out. And some of you listening to this might be
Starting point is 00:03:37 too young to even know what an encyclopedia is, but encyclopedias came out and you could have a ton of knowledge in all of these books inside of your house. And this was groundbreaking because you could look up almost anything that you want to. You had encyclopedias and now you have Google where if you have any question in the world, within 15 seconds, you can know the answer to that. So ignorance used to be bliss, but ignorance is not bliss anymore. Ignorance in 2016 is tragic. That's what it is. If you really want to know something, you'll have to find time for it. And if you don't find time for it, if it's not that important to you, you'll find an excuse.
Starting point is 00:04:18 And here's another thing that I want to tell you this. Ignorance will make you broke. Ignorance will completely give you a poor life. You want to know what makes you rich? Being more valuable and being more valuable to the marketplace. People are paid based on the value that they bring to the market. You want to know what makes you valuable? Being knowledgeable about something, about anything, and trying to become a master or at least extremely knowledgeable about something, about anything, and trying to become a master or at least extremely knowledgeable about something. If you think about it, if I run a company and I need advertising help, I'm going to most likely hire an advertising agency. Why? Because they have the knowledge of how to use my advertising dollars correctly and can implement it and give me a return on my investment.
Starting point is 00:05:09 I am paying for their knowledge. So if you're sitting out there, you have to realize that you have to gain information. You have to fill your brain. Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance is complete tragedy. bliss. Ignorance is complete tragedy. The only difference between where you are today and where you want to be is the knowledge that you need to acquire in order to become the person that will be able to be the person that you want to be in the future and the person that brings value to the market that people are willing to pay for. So that's very important for you to know. If becoming
Starting point is 00:05:46 something, something really good, something amazing in this world is important to you, then you must gain the knowledge in order to become that person. If it's not important to you, then you'll make excuses. If it is important to you, you will find a way. And if you're not dedicated to absolute lifelong learning, then you're dedicated to staying where you are. And that's the thing that you have to make the decision of. If you don't make the decision to be dedicated to lifelong learning and to constantly getting better, then you're actually making the decision to stay where you currently are. And if you're listening to this podcast, I have a complete hope in you that you probably are a person who wants to dedicate yourself to lifelong learning. And if that's the case, I would recommend
Starting point is 00:06:34 spending at least $100 to $200 a month on your personal knowledge because that $1,200 to $2,400 a year will come back tenfold if you put your money into knowledge that you can use in the marketplace. That's just the way that it works. So if you want to become something important, you must gain the knowledge in order to become that person. If it's important to you, you'll find a way. If not, you will find excuses. If you're not dedicated to lifelong learning, then you're going to stay where you are. That is what I'm talking about. That is ignorance. And ignorance is absolutely tragic as staying where you currently are. And that's why Ben Franklin says that most people die by 25, but aren't buried till 75. It's because they get into a job, they get comfortable,
Starting point is 00:07:19 they don't push themselves, they don't try to learn more, and then they stay in the exact same position and one day they die and that's it. Do you want to know what real knowledge is? Real knowledge is not knowing something and knowing the steps that you need to take in order to acquire that knowledge and knowing that you need to learn more in order to fill that knowledge base. that you need to learn more in order to fill that knowledge base. Think of it as just a typical bucket and you have to fill up your knowledge and every single time that you read something about it or you do something or you go and you learn from somebody else, you just fill that bucket up a little bit more, a little bit more. And once you start getting really high, people will pay you extreme amounts of money no matter what it is that you're learning about, in order to get your knowledge or at least have you help them out. And here's the thing that I want you to realize. With Google and with everything that there is nowadays where you can take online courses, you don't even have to go to a university anymore,
Starting point is 00:08:18 you can literally go to online courses and learn how to become almost anything that you want to, online courses and learn how to become almost anything that you want to. And it costs you way less money with all of these resources that are there. You don't have to go into a school and learn it from a teacher almost unless you're going to med school or something like that. You can learn almost anything that you want to by the internet nowadays, almost anything that you want to. To not learn and to be ignorant is stupid and stupidity is forever. Ignorance is curable and ignorance is curable by pushing yourself to gain knowledge as much as you possibly could possibly can in today's world where knowledge is at your fingerprints. The phrase quote unquote, I don't know is obsolete. The phrase I don't know is obsolete.
Starting point is 00:09:06 What you should start replacing it with is I don't know and I'm too lazy to find out because it would take you 10 seconds to learn anything that you possibly want to learn. And here's the thing that I want you to realize. If you don't know something and you're not willing to look it up, there is somewhere out there, someone out there in the marketplace who's willing to put in the time, who's willing to look it up, to learn it, to take their money and invest it into themselves.
Starting point is 00:09:31 And that someone, you have to realize, will eventually beat you in the marketplace. And that someone is willing to pay, willing to be paid by somebody else in order to get their knowledge. So ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance is tragic. But the best part about it is ignorance is curable through knowledge, but you have to take
Starting point is 00:09:51 the time and you have to take the money and you have to take the effort to invest into yourself. If you're not investing in yourself in some sort of way through books or courses or conferences or seminars, whatever it is, then you're probably just going to, honestly, if you're not investing yourself in trying to push yourself to where you want to be, you're not going to grow. You're not going to get better and you're going to stay where you currently are. So ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance is tragic and stupidity is forever. So I hope that you dedicate yourself to lifelong learning. And with that, I'm going to leave you the same way I leave
Starting point is 00:10:25 you every single episode. Make it your mission today to make somebody else's day better. We have three more parts coming out to the knowledge is power. So this was ignorance is not bliss. The next one is how to learn from your mistakes. The next one is how to deal with your problems, but also acquire more skills. And then the fourth one is the right way to invest yourself into yourself and why it's important to invest in yourself. So if you like this episode, please share it with someone, but I'm gonna leave you the same way that I leave you every episode. Make it your mission today to make somebody else's day better. I appreciate you and I hope that you have an amazing day. Well, that's it for today's podcast. If you want the show notes for this episode, they can be found at mwfmotivation.com.
