it if you would take 30 seconds and do that while you're listening to this episode. Thank you so much. Today, we're going to be talking about the world and is it getting worse?
Is it getting better? What's going on? Because if you look outside, it looks like it is a shit show.
And I talked about this about a year ago, a year and a half ago. I did an episode that was similar
to this. And I think it's important to bring back in because on my Instagram stories today, I put up a story and I said, honest question, do you think that the world is getting
better or worse? Because I'm just curious what people are thinking. And 72% of people said that
they think the world is getting worse. And I'm surprised by that because the people that follow
me, we have 375,000 people that follow me on there. I would think that they
would be people that would at least be optimistic in thinking more of an inspirational, motivational
way and think, hey, maybe there's some good coming from this world. But the fact that 72% of people
that follow me think the world is getting worse, surprise the hell out of me.
And I don't think the world is getting worse. I think that it's getting better.
And I'm going to tell you why I think that is, because it doesn't seem like it necessarily. But I think what we're going through is I think
that we're going through an awakening. And so if you're out there and you're one of the 72%
that thinks that the world is getting worse, hopefully I can show you how the world is
getting better and how we're going through a moment of growth in society, in mankind.
And so I'm going to give you an example real quick.
And I want you to think about this and I want you to ponder on it, okay?
If someone doesn't take care of their body, you know, they eat crappy food.
They eat a ton of sugar.
They eat a ton of grease.
They never eat anything healthy.
They don't work out.
They don't use their body.
They're stagnant.
And they do this for years and years and years of abuse on their body.
And then one day, their body has a heart attack. Is that heart attack bad? Do you think it's bad?
Now, your immediate response is, yeah, of course, a heart attack is bad. But everything can be good
or bad depending on how you look at it, right? So you look at it and you say, okay, they didn't
take care of themselves for a very long time. They didn't work out. They didn't eat the right food. They didn't drink enough water.
They didn't use their body the way that their body was supposed to be used. And then their
body had a heart attack. Well, let's say that they have their heart attack and the heart attack then
wakes them up to all of the ways that they haven't been taking care of their body. And they start to
realize, and this happens a lot of times with people who have heart attacks, it's an awakening process realizing, oh my God,
I was thinking that I was invincible. I was thinking that I could eat these foods. I was
thinking that I could not take care of myself. And now I've been woken up to the fact that if
I don't take care of myself, I'm not going to be around much longer. And that thought can scare the shit out of people.
The heart attack is the thing that wakes them up to all of the ways that they haven't been
taking care of their body. The food, they've been eating, the lack of working out, the staying
stagnant. So let's say they have that heart attack, right? And they're like, you know what?
I'm going to go on a health journey. They start eating healthier. They go and they research what
they're supposed to be having, what they're not supposed to be having. They do blood work. They
figure out how their blood is, how their bodies are reacting to certain things. They're figuring
out about glucose levels and all of that. They start taking care of themselves. They start
working out. They get in shape. They start getting more sleep than they ever have. They start losing weight. The
pounds start dropping off and dropping off, and they start getting healthier. And not only are
they healthier, they're actually happier because of how much they're taking care of themselves.
And because of the fact that they are now taking care of themselves, they're eating healthier,
they're getting in shape, they're getting enough sleep. They're taking care of themselves mentally, physically.
They're losing weight.
They're healthier.
They're happier.
And they live longer.
Now, in that case, is the heart attack bad?
Or was the heart attack actually the best thing that ever happened to them?
Now, in this situation, you actually can see that the heart attack is the best thing that ever happened to them. Now in this situation, you actually can see that the
heart attack is the best thing that ever happened to them, right? It was the thing that woke them up
from the sleep, the zombie-like sleep that they were just kind of falling around in the world
through. Was that heart attack bad? No, that heart attack was actually good. It was the best thing
that could have happened to them because it woke them up so that they could change the path that they were going down, right? So now you might be
sitting out there like, okay, what the hell does this have to do with the way the world's getting
better or worse? Well, I think that we are in the middle of a heart attack. That's what I think.
I think that we are in the middle of a heart attack. It's not fun to go through it. It hurts
to go through it, but we're waking up to everything
that's been wrong with the way that we live as humans. There are old, oppressive, evil systems
that are being brought to the surface. People are starting to understand the way the government
works when they didn't even really care a while ago. They're starting to realize that they don't
like how much control the government might have. They're starting to realize how money works and starting to realize,
damn, I've been getting screwed with money my entire life. They're starting to realize
that maybe it's becoming very apparent that with these old oppressive evil systems,
that maybe some groups of people have been held down. And maybe some people have not gotten equal
opportunities. Or maybe people are have not gotten equal opportunities.
Or maybe people are starting to see that the government really doesn't care about the people's
best interests, but they care about their own best interests. Maybe people are starting to
realize that we spend, in America, $950 billion on war, right? They're starting to notice these
things. They're starting to wake up. And instead of just being like, oh, well, whatever happens,
happens, people are starting to realize how everything
around them has been set up. Not just the government, but also just society in general,
and the way that we act, and the way that we think, and the way that we treat each other.
And so is it fun to go through a heart attack? Well, I've never had a heart attack,
but I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's probably not the most fun thing that you could go through. No, probably not. Does it seem like the shit's hitting the fan during a
heart attack? Probably. But if you live through a heart attack and you end up waking up to everything
that you did wrong in the past and you make changes, did that heart attack come out to be a good thing?
The answer, in my opinion, is yes.
The heart attack is an awakening to bad health, right?
Our quote-unquote heart attack, our civil unrest,
the things that are happening, the way people are being treated,
everything that's happening in the world right now is an awakening
to how maybe we as a society, we as people should look at how things have been and see if we can make them better for all people,
whatever that might be. So you just got to think about that for a second. Is it that the world's
getting worse or is it that we're finally waking up to the things that have been happening that
maybe we've been acting blind to? It's definitely something to sit down and actually consider.
Hey, this episode is sponsored by Ritual. Protein powders can be intimidating, blind to. It's definitely something to sit down and actually consider. Protein is a delicious plant-based protein powder with three different distinct formulas designed to meet your body's changing protein needs.
And you can choose from three thoughtful formulas depending on where you are in your life.
There's a daily shake that's 18 and over, which is a complete amino acid profile,
including choline, an essential nutrient, and common dietary gap.
There's also a daily shake for 15 and older that adds calcium HMB to the mix,
helping you build and maintain muscle mass for
healthy active aging. And there's also a daily protein shake for pregnancy and postpartum
formulated with extra nutrient support to help meet the demands of pregnancy and lactation.
And it's sustainably sourced, packed with 20 grams of protein per serving and made from
sustainably grown peas regeneratively farmed right here in the U.S. So are you ready to shake up your protein ritual?
My listeners get 10% off during your first three months at ritual.com slash dial.
Ritual even offers a money-back guarantee if you're not 100% in love.
That's R-I-T-U-A-L dot com slash dial for 10% off your first three months.
Another thing is think about how many cameras there are now.
So we see things that are happening on the news and happening on social media and you're like,
oh my God, there's just so many things that are happening. I don't remember when I was a kid,
all of these bad things happening and seeing things on the news and all of that stuff.
Well, there's more cameras in people's, every person has a camera in their pocket.
So what we're doing is we're seeing more footage of bad than we ever have, but it doesn't mean that the world is actually more bad. It just means that we're
seeing more footage because there's more footage being made. Before, 99% of people didn't have a
camera sitting inside of their pocket to be able to record things that were happening.
So if you're starting to think about how much you're seeing, well, maybe a piece of it is that
there's so many cameras around, there's just a whole lot more footage. Imagine if there were cameras around in every single person's pocket during
World War II or during the Civil War or during, I guess, any war. How much that we would have seen
that would have just been absolutely terrible. Also, another thing to consider is how easy it
is to share that footage as well.
We didn't have 20 years ago a way to just share footage to thousands to millions of people.
Number one, we didn't have the phone inside of our pocket that had a camera built onto it.
But back in the day, phones used to just be phones.
Phones were not cameras.
Those are two completely separate objects.
So we didn't have cameras inside of our pocket. We didn't have phones inside of our pocket 20, 25 years ago.
But at the same time, we also didn't have a way to share all of the information so freely.
Now, if you record something with your camera phone and you end up uploading it
and it ends up striking a chord with people,
millions upon millions upon millions of people
can literally see that thing within the next couple hours.
So you have to think about how social media makes sharing,
whether that's good sharing or whether that's bad sharing, so easy.
20, 25 years ago, the news in your neighbor
was the only way that you got information.
That was basically it.
Now we can get our information from everywhere,
which has good sides, and it also has bad sides.
It's just the way that it is.
Another thing to reconsider or to consider completely
is that the news also used to be something
that you could trust years ago.
The news used to be a trustworthy source of the news
so that you could see what was actually happening in the world.
Now, each of the news stations have their own agendas to push whatever it is that they want
to push. And a lot of times, they're being told by politicians on what it is that they should be
pushing. So you've got to think about this. You've got to think to yourself, is it actually that the
world is getting worse? Or is it just that I'm starting to see more bad? Or maybe that I'm waking
up to more bad? And you start to realize, damn, maybe I didn't
think that much about the subject. Maybe the world isn't getting worse. Maybe I'm just seeing more of
these things, or maybe more of these things are being placed in front of me for me to actually
see for some reason. Sometimes you have to go through a heart attack before you make a change.
And there's a guy named Steven Pinker. He's actually a Harvard cognitive psychologist
that talks about how the world is getting better. He's got an entire book he talks about,
he lectures on about how the world is getting better. And so if you're out there and you get
those feelings about, man, the world's getting worse, the world's getting worse, I'm here to
tell you, I don't think that it is. I think that it's getting better. Now, when I say this,
is everything perfect? No, of course not. Hell no. Of course not. But I don't think anything's
ever going to be perfect. But when you start looking through what Steven Pinkler talks about,
you start to realize as a cognitive psychologist at Harvard, people are living longer, it's safer.
Department of Justice says firearm homicides are down by 39%. Non-fatal firearm accidents or incidents are down 69%. You start
to see that numbers are going down and numbers are going down. The number of murders are down.
The number of people killed in war are one-twelfth of what they were in the 1950s and 1960s.
So I think if you look for the bad in the world, you will find the bad in the world.
I think if you look for the good in the world, you will find the bad in the world. I think if you look for the good in the world, you'll find the good in the world. Right now is the absolute safest time
to be alive as a human. And once again, I'm not trying to say that everything's perfect because
it's definitely not perfect. What I'm trying to tell you though, is that if you look to see,
hey, is the world getting worse? You're going to find every opportunity to identify how the world
is getting worse. But if you sit there and you go, you know what? Maybe we are going through an awakening. Maybe there are things that are finally coming
to light that need to be stripped away. In order to be stripped away, it is kind of like going
through a heart attack. You've got to become aware of it in order to make the change. But the
beautiful thing about it is that you're the person that's in control of the information that comes
into your mind. You're the person that's in control of the actions that you take. You're the person that's in control of everything that you think
and do throughout the day. And let me ask you this. If you're sitting there thinking about how
things need to change and that the world is getting better, but you want to be a part of
helping it get better, doesn't that seem much more motivating and make you want to take more action
towards helping the world versus being like, oh yeah, well, the world's just going to shit. Doesn't it more motivating to be like,
it is getting better. I want to be a part of the system that helps become better.
I tend to be more optimistic than the average person. I think that we're heading in the right
direction. I think that there's a lot of bumps and bruises and mess ups along the way, but I
think humans are heading in the right direction. And it's my goal to try to be a part of heading
in that right direction. And I'm curious for you try to be a part of heading in that right direction.
And I'm curious for you, do you want to step up and also help the world head into that right direction?
One of the first things you could do, turn off the news.
It's not helping you.
It's not informing you.
That's for sure.
They're pushing their own agendas.
And so no matter what it is, whatever news station, whether it's left, right, medium,
whatever, up, down, I don't know.
They're all planting things into your brain at some point in time. Are they planting what you
want into your brain or are they planting other things inside of your brain? Another thing you do
besides turning off the news, turn off social media. Go experience the world. If you go out
and experience the world, it doesn't feel like it's getting worse. If you see on social media
or you see on the news or you see of any of those things,
you think, oh my God, the world is going to shit.
I've watched the news ads of recently and be like,
oh my God, is the world going to shit?
And then I walk outside, I'm like,
oh, it's just another beautiful day.
Okay, so go out and experience the world.
Be in control of what comes into your brain.
If you've been listening to me for a long time,
like years and years and years,
I've always been saying, you're going to be brainwashed by every single bit of information that comes into your brain. If you've been listening to me for a long time, like years and years and years, I've always been saying, you're going to be brainwashed by every single bit of information
that comes into your brain, whether you're in control of it or whether it's just blindly coming
into your brain. You need to be the person that filters out all of the things that you don't want
to hear and brings in all the things that you do want to hear and start focusing on how the world
could be getting better, how you can be a part of making this world better.
And how you could be somebody who helps the change progress inside of this world.
Because at the beginning of this episode,
I'm sure everybody listening thought a heart attack was bad.
And when you start to wake up and realize that the heart attack
is actually just a piece of the awakening
for someone to actually go on their health journey,
to stop the old things they've
been doing, to start taking care of better themselves, you realize that, hey, maybe we are
going through a heart attack. And maybe it is kind of like shit hitting the fan when heart attack is
going through. That's not the most fun. It hurts. But what are we doing? We're waking up to everything
that has been wrong with the way that we live. We're waking up to everything that we can do
to actually make a change in society.
And I don't know about you,
but I want to be a part of that.
So it is my personal opinion
that the world is getting better.
And I hope that you are part of that change
along the way as well.
So that's what I got for you for today's episode.
