more about that, where I have over 40 hours of in-depth video lessons that range anywhere between
25 or 20 to an hour, good Lord, anywhere between 20 minutes all the way up to an hour and 45
minute lessons, send me an email, rob at mwfmotivation.com. I'll send you some more
information so you can check that out. So today what I'm going to talk about is if you follow me
on Facebook, you may or may not have seen this video come out because depending on when this
is out, I'm not sure if that video is going to come out because the video is still getting edited.
But I was sitting in a park the other day right down the street from where I am in a neighborhood called Tristevere, which is in Rome. And there is a botanical gardens that I
was reading a book. I was just sitting there. I was reading a book. It was on Monday. And I was
just sitting there. And what was weird was there's this huge hill that goes up like, well, clearly it
goes up, of course, Rob, come on. So there's this huge hill and there was
a road that I was, I happen to be sitting on the side of this little walkway. And I was just
sitting there. I was reading a book, which is called the Bhagavad Gita, which is a Hindu book,
which talks about karma, all of these things. It's amazing. If you want to read a great book,
it's called the Bhagavad Gita. Don't know how to spell it, but I'm sure Google could probably help you out if you want to look
at it. But so I'm reading this book and I'm sitting there. And what I noticed is there's
one path that comes down the side right to where I am. And on this path, it comes all the way down
the hill. There is a gate and the gate was locked. And what I noticed was that people kept coming
down the hill. So they
would walk up one direction the other way, and they would want to see a different route. So they
would come all the way back down to the bottom of this hill. And there was a gate that was locked
and you couldn't jump it. It was like a 15 foot gate. There's no way for these people to get past
it. And I noticed something that was really interesting. And it was like the perfect metaphor
for life because these people would come down the hill and some people would
hit the gate. They'd shake it. They'd try to get around it. And it's, you know, they kind of laugh
with whoever they were with. And then they would have to walk all the way back up the hill and go
back a different route. Right. So they came all the way down this huge hill, found a roadblock
and had to go all
the way back up it. Some of them would laugh like, this is funny. Well, all right, we're in a
beautiful botanical garden. We might as well just enjoy it and walk back up. Some people would come
down and they would hit, and I saw this happen. There's probably about 15 different groups of
people that I just happened to see this happen with. Some people would hit the gate and they
would shake it and they would try to force themselves and they get pissed off. And they're in this beautiful, lots of these people are on vacation.
They're in this beautiful botanical garden. All that's got, I mean, it was just amazing.
They're on vacation most likely, and they're in Rome and they were pissed off because this road
block. And that I was like, man, this is the perfect metaphor. This is exactly how life is,
And I was like, man, this is the perfect metaphor.
This is exactly how life is, the road to success,
or just the road of life in general,
is we make a plan, right?
We're like, oh, we're gonna go this route.
And we go down this route,
and no matter what you do, at some point in time,
you're gonna hit a roadblock,
you're gonna hit a speed bump,
something is going to get completely in your way, right?
You make a plan of how your life is going to go. And we all
know something's going to happen and it's never, ever, ever going to go the way, the exact way
that you plan. You're going to walk down the hill and you're going to hit this gate and you have two
choices. Number one, you laugh about it. You find a way to recalibrate and you say, okay, we're going
to have to go a different way. And you go back up the hill, work your freaking tail off, going all the way up this
hill. There's going to be a lot of sweat into it. There's going to be a lot of, you know, oh crap,
I wish I wasn't doing this, but hey, I have to do this anyways. This wasn't what I thought I
needed to do, but now I have to. That is an option where you can see the roadblock. You can get to it
and say, okay, time to recalibrate. I'm just going to have to go a different way. Or you can see the roadblock. You can get to it and say, okay, time to recalibrate.
I'm just going to have to go a different way. Or you can get to that roadblock, that gate, which you can do nothing about. And you can get pissed off. You could try to shake the gate. You
could try to break through. You could try to jump over this 15 foot fence, which, you know, nobody,
nobody that was coming over was jumping over that 15 foot fence. It was huge.
It's impossible.
And you could say, oh, this sucks.
You could try to make the world do what you want it to do.
But we all know we're not in control.
You're not in control.
I'm not in control.
All we can really do is try to figure out some sort of way to make a change.
So most people, not most people,
but some people will get to it
and they will go,
okay, here's a roadblock. Let's go a different way, but let's still enjoy this beautiful garden
that we're in. Some people hit the roadblock. They'll get pissed off. They'll try to force
themselves into doing the way that they wanted to get it done because that was the way that they had
it planned. And then they'll give up. And so the question I have for you is when you hit that
roadblock, because we know your road to success, your road of life is not going to go the way that you planned it. Whenever you make a plan,
you might as well just make sure that you know that you're going to have some sort of failure,
some sort of problem, some sort of roadblock, speed bumps, whatever they are, right? It's going
to happen. The plan that you set for yourself is never going to go exactly the way that you planned.
Wouldn't it be great if one time you planned something to a T and it went out exactly the way that you planned?
It'd be great, but it's never going to happen. And we all know that. So this is a perfect metaphor
for life because we're always going to get roadblocks. We're always going to have some
sort of route that we want to take, some sort of destination, some sort of plan, and it doesn't go the way that we want. Are we going to go a different route or are we going to quit?
Because if you listen to my other episode about failure, failure is going to happen. Failure is
a part of success. Success is 99% failure. 1% of it is actually succeeding. So when you fail, when you hit these
roadblocks, it is not time to give up. It is just the universe saying, hey, try again. This isn't
the right road. And so that's what I want you to think about. Realize that failing is a part of
success. Roadblocks are part of success and it will never go the way that you want to. So just be okay
with walking back up the hill
and going a different way.
