There's no fluff here, just life-changing content.
My name is Rob Dial, and the podcast starts now.

If you have not yet done so, hit the subscribe button so that you never miss another episode.
And if you've missed the announcement, I made an announcement that I made my top 10 book list of books that I recommend that you read this year in 2018. There's a lot of books out
there that honestly are just a lot of fluff and they're a waste of your time. So what I did was
I made a book list that I think are the 10 best books that you can read right now. You want to
download that book list for free. And you also want to get five video lessons from these books of what I learned from them.
And I teach you what I learned from them.
And you also want to get a video of how to read three times faster.
Go to mwfmotivation.com book list.
You will get the list.
You will get the five video lessons.
And you will get the lesson on how to read three times faster all for free.
So once again, mwfmotivation.com booklist.
Okay.
Today, what I'm going to talk about is being comfortable
and how your comfort, if you are in a comfortable spot,
absolutely 100% kills your ambition.
And I want to ask you a question.
Are you a comfortable right now?
Have you been
in the exact same spot or very close to the same spot for six months or for a year or for years or
five years or 10 years? Have you been stuck in the same spot for years? You are in a comfort zone.
If so, and comfort kills ambition. I know that some people listening, you're out there and you're
struggling right now, but I would say the majority of you that are listening are listening because of the fact that
you are in a comfort zone and you can't figure out how to get out of it. You're comfortable
and it's not like you're struggling. It's not like you're, you know, too far behind in the
rent or any of those things. You're comfortable. You're making okay money.
You might actually have a little bit of money to pay the bills and maybe a little bit to save after. And you're at that point where you don't have to make more money. You don't have to be
more successful because maybe you go on one family vacation per year and you're able to pay the bills,
you're able to do things, but you have this feeling,
you're listening because you have this feeling deep down inside of you that there is more that
you have to give the world. So if you're listening to me, go ahead and raise your hand if that's you.
You know, I can't see it obviously, but if that's you, think about that. Is that you? Am I
comfortable? And you have to think about this. In order to get out of a comfort zone,
you need to make yourself un-freaking-comfortable. I'll give you a perfect example. In order to lose
weight, what do you have to do? You have to become uncomfortable. In order to build muscle,
what do you have to do? You have to become extremely uncomfortable. You have to be sore.
You have to push yourself towards pain if you're trying to lose weight or if you're
trying to build muscle.
That's exactly how your brain works.
It's still part of your body.
You need to become uncomfortable if you want more from yourself.
And if you listened to a while ago, Jesse Itzler, who wrote the book, if you haven't
read the book, Living With a Seal, I would 100% recommend buying the book, Living With
a Seal.
And what he talks about is that he has what is
considered the toughest man in the world live with him. And Jesse and his wife are both separately
billionaires. They both separately became billionaires. And he has this guy live with
him because he feels like he's in a rut. And he says, the Navy SEAL, his name is David Goggins,
says that when you feel like you're at your maximum, like you
have nothing left to give, like you've hit a wall, you're only at about 40%.
And you may have heard me say this before, but you've never heard me talk about just
strictly getting uncomfortable.
And you have to think about that.
If you're at a wall where you feel like you got nothing more to give, you're only at 40%
of what you can actually do.
So therefore, what do you live your life at?
you're only at 40% of what you can actually do.
So therefore, what do you live your life at?
If you never get to that point,
you rarely get to that point,
and that's only 40%, what do you live your life at?
10% of your capacity?
20%, 30%?
Is that what you want your life to be?
Do you want to live at the capacity
that is not your true potential?
And I'm guessing if you're listening
to this podcast episode,
if you're listening to my podcast,
you are not listening because you're comfortable. I'm sorry, because
the fact that you're satisfied with where you're at, you want more from yourself. And so you have
to push yourself past that. And the reason why you feel like you're at your breaking point when
you're only at 40% is because your brain has a mechanism that says, hey, turn it off because
your brain wants to keep you safe. It doesn't want you to get injured, doesn't want you to die, all of those things.
But usually what you find out is when you hit that breaking point and you mentally do not allow
yourself to give up, you keep pushing even when you get to that breaking point. You go and you
work out and you throw up and then you go, you know what? I'm not done. I'm going to keep going.
When you get that, that's where you start to see the real results. That's where you also start to get the real mindset shifts. And this is something I do with
some of my one-on-one coaching clients where they're too freaking comfortable. They might be
making $50,000 a year. They might be making a hundred. They might be making a few hundred
thousand or sometimes even way more than that per year. And they're comfortable.
How do you get out of that? You have to make yourself uncomfortable. You have to see where you're at right now is absolute ground zero. Ground zero, where you're at right now is
absolutely 100% unacceptable. And you have to make yourself completely uncomfortable in order to make
changes. And I'll do this sometimes with one-on-one coaching class where I'm like, hey, for the next
10 days straight, I want you to push yourself so hard that you get to the breaking point where you feel like you're whatever, either one of two things happen.
Either you start crying because of the fact that you're pushing yourself so freaking hard,
or you throw up all over the sidewalk as you're going for a run and you keep going.
This is a challenge that I have coming up. So if you're in my group coaching,
you're about to learn about this, but we're going to do a 10 day challenge in group coaching
on making ourself uncomfortable, pushing ourself 10 days straight every single day to the point
where we don't think is possible and then pushing further past that. Because our brains, one of my
favorite phrases I've been saying for years, our brains are like plastic bags. They're not like
rubber bands. A rubber band, you pull it and it goes back. Our brains are like plastic bags. If
you pull a plastic bag, it will never go back to the same size. So once you push yourself to a certain capacity, you will never go back to where you were before
because you now know what you can do. Your comfort zone is where your dreams are going to die.
Get the freak out of it. Sorry, I almost dropped an F-bomb right there. Get out of the comfort
zone. Get out of the comfort zone. Some of you guys listening have been in the same spot for years and you are not happy with it. You have to make yourself uncomfortable.
If you're happy and you don't want to be anywhere else, then that's fine. You're where most people
want to be. You don't have to push yourself out of your comfort zone if you're not where you want
to be. But if you're listening to my voice and you need change and you want more from your life,
you need to make yourself uncomfortable. you need to make yourself uncomfortable.
You need to get yourself uncomfortable.
You need to push yourself to the absolute extreme and push yourself past what you feel
is possible.
And so if you're listening to this, I'm going to ask you this question.
When was the last time you pushed yourself way past the point of what you feel is comfortable,
what you actually thought that you could do?
Has it been years?
Because you have to think about that. Has it been years since you've gotten the most from yourself?
Have you ever gotten the most from yourself? And so if you're sitting here listening to it,
what I would recommend is this. Commit to yourself. If you're trying to lose weight or
whatever it is, if you're trying to gain muscle, or if you're just trying to save more money,
any of these things, push yourself for the next seven days as hard as you possibly can. Go to the gym every single day
for the next seven days until you, and I mean, push yourself. Like you're going to wake up one
morning, you'll be so freaking sore that you can't move. Go to the gym anyways. I loved going to the
gym and not because of all of the health aspects, but because of the mental aspect of going to the gym.
If you can make yourself go to the gym when you're so freaking sore and you can barely move and you can still continue to work out, well then guess what? You are pushing yourself out of that
comfort zone. So push yourself for the next few days. Push yourself for the next week. Push yourself
past the point of where you are comfortable pushing yourself. If you've plateaued in your life, you plateaued in the gym, you plateaued in anything.
The reason why is because you're in a comfort zone and comfort is where you go.
Your comfort is where your dreams go to die.
Comfort absolutely 100% kills ambition.
