Today, we're going to be talking about how to make a change in your life.
Today, we're going to be talking about how to make changes, why to make changes.
We're going to go through a couple different categories of your life and actually see what it would look like for you to make a change.
Because one of the things that I see from a lot of people is, and I get a lot of messages
on Instagram. I get a lot of messages on Facebook and emails that come in. One of the things that I
see more than anything else is that people love to complain about their life circumstances,
but then they don't do anything to change them, which is kind of wild if you actually think about
that. People love to complain about what is going on in their life and their life circumstances,
that. People love to complain about what is going on in their life and their life circumstances, but then they don't do anything to change them. Complaining is useless. It is the language of
losing. And if you want to lose in life, continue to complain. Complaining does not change the world.
All it does is just allow you to bitch about it. So if you want to be somebody who wants to create
something from your life, which if you're to be somebody who wants to create something from
your life, which if you're listening to this podcast, I'm assuming that you are, then you
need to learn that complaining is not going to help you in any sort of way. Are you going to
complain at some point in time in your life? Absolutely. Am I? Absolutely. But it's about
becoming aware when we are complaining and realizing, okay, this isn't doing anything.
I need to figure out what it is that I'm complaining about and see what change I need to make. Because before we can make a change, you must first take
responsibility for where your life currently is. Where you are, where everybody is in their life
right now is the result of all of the actions that they did and did not take in their life.
Where you are right now is the result of all of your thoughts, of all of your actions that they did and did not take in their life. Where you are right now is the result
of all of your thoughts, of all of your actions that you did and did not take in your life.
They have brought you here to this very moment, listening to this podcast. And you can either
take responsibility for your life or you can play the victim card. But I'm going to tell you this,
if you want to keep playing the victim card, that's fully your choice. You can go ahead and do that. But you might want to turn this
episode off because it's not meant for people who want to play victim. This is meant for people who
actually want to step up and actually start to change your life. So if you want to play victim
the rest of your life, go ahead and turn this off. I have no problem with it. Okay. I think we got rid
of all the poo-poo pants. All the poo-poo pants are gone,
everybody. So I think now we can actually dive in because if you're still here, you're the type of
person who wants to change your life in some sort of way. Okay. We're going to dive into four
different topics in your life. So four different categories of your life. But this can be used for
many different ones. I just don't have time to go through every aspect of your life. But this is a
great journaling practice for you. It's a great practice for being intentional with everything
that you do. Because if you do this, you realize that you are then going to step into the driver's
seat of your life. I've heard it said many times, but life is basically like you're on a plane.
And you can either just allow the plane to go wherever it's going to go,
or you can realize at some point in time that you are the pilot. And you could step into the driver's seat and decide that where you're going, you're going to be in charge of. But it comes down
to being intentional with your life, okay? So the first thing that I want to talk about that I hear
people act like they are a victim of is where you live. And we'll talk about a couple different
aspects of where you live. First off, let's talk about the city that you live. Okay. If you like the city that you live in,
stay. That's awesome. Perfect. If you don't like the city that you live in,
leave. You are not a tree. You can decide to switch cities. Now, this is interesting because
a lot of people are like, well, but I grew up here and my family is here and my kids are here and all of this stuff. Cool. But that's your decision to stay.
You can't keep acting like you're a victim of the fact that you live in the place that you live.
Right? There's many people whose family live in a different city than them. Me, I live in a different
state than my mom. Right? I ended up moving because I wanted to get to Austin, Texas because there were better opportunities in Austin,
Texas. And I did. Do I miss my mom? Yes. Do I fly back often? Yes. But you can't think to yourself,
because a lot of people are like, I hear people so many times like, I can't leave because this
is where my family is. Okay, well then don't. But don't act like you're the victim here.
You have to be the person that says,
this is my responsibility.
This was my decision to stay.
This wasn't my family's decision to stay.
This was my decision to stay.
And so where you live is important.
It's one of the most important decisions that you'll make
is where you live because your life is going to change
based off the people that you hang out with,
based off the opportunities that are there, everything.
So do you like where you live?
If you don't, where do you want to move to?
And can you give yourself a two-year plan to actually figure out a way to get there?
Okay.
What about the home that you live in?
Your current home.
Do you love where you live?
Maybe, maybe not.
You might like the place that you live, but maybe you just don't like the inside.
Okay, well, can you start to change the inside
to be the way that you want it to be?
One of the most underrated things
that I didn't realize until I got older
was that you draw energy from the place that you live in.
If you live, if I live, I'll give myself an example.
If I live in a dark place with not a lot of light,
it affects my energy like crazy.
But if you have ever, if you follow me on Instagram and you've seen me inside of my house,
I have windows everywhere. And the reason why is because I love natural light. I've come to realize
the two houses that I bought in my lifetime, three houses I bought in my lifetime actually,
have all had a lot of natural light. And so you really have to ask yourself, like,
the place that I live in,
is it the type of place that I want to stay in? And do I want to stay there? And if I do want to stay there, can I change the inside so that I can draw energy from it? Or do you want to get another
place to live in? If you live in an apartment, do you want to move into an apartment that's in a
different part of town that allows you to just be closer to a gym or a park or whatever it is you
want to do? You have to start being intentional with all of these aspects of your life and realize any change that needs to happen
in your life, you need to be intentional about making that change. Do not act like you're the
victim of it though. You are 100% in control of what you do and do not do. It is up to you. It
is 100% your decision. So where you live is a very important thing that you can make a decision on
your life. Hey, nowadays clients demand instant is a very important thing that you can make a decision on in your life.

Hey, if you're the type of person who's always thinking about new business ideas or wondering
what's the next side hustle that I could spin up, you need to check out My First Million podcast. Host Sean Puri and Sam Parr have each built
eight-figure businesses and sold them to Amazon and HubSpot. In each week, they brainstorm business
ideas that you can start tomorrow. These could be side hustles that can make you a few grand a month
or big billion dollar ideas or anything in between. There's two really awesome episodes I think you should check out.
One is number 158, where Sam and Sean
explain how to make millions
by buying Michael Jordan's home
and turning it into a museum.
I think you'd love that episode.
And another great episode is episode 224 with Rob Dyrdek.
It's super fascinating.
The guy's built a $400 million media empire
and been tracking every second of his day
for the last decade.
It's crazy.
So make sure you check out My First Million.
That's My First Million on Apple Podcasts,
Spotify, or wherever you listen to your podcasts.
Next thing, huge, all of your relationships.
Okay, so let me just give you a couple.
Your romantic relationship, that's quite a big decision.
And so some of you guys that are listening to this are not in a romantic relationship.
Okay. Can you start to be intentional about improving yourself so that therefore when you
find the right person, you guys will be a great match. One of the things you guys have heard me
say before, and I've said it multiple times, is get a pen and paper out, list all of the traits
that you want of the perfect person that
you want to be in a relationship with, and then just become that person. Because then you will
attract more people that are like that. People usually, birds of a feather flock together.
People that are similar like to hang out with other similar people, right? So romantic relationships.
Okay, what if you're in a romantic relationship? Okay, is that the romantic relationship you want
to stay in or is it not? Don't act like you're a victim of the circumstance. You're deciding to either stay or not stay in that
relationship at all points in time in your life. And so do you want to stay in that relationship?
Is it helping you with your growth in the direction that you want your life to go?
I don't know the answer to that. There's tons of people in this podcast episode,
but you're not a tree. You can make changes at any point in time. Okay. What about your
relationship with your family, your relationship with your mom, dad, brother, sister, aunt, uncle,
your children, all of that. What would you like to see in all of the relationship that you have,
your familial relationships? What would you like to see? Are there changes that you want to make?
What are the changes that you want to make? Write them all down and start to be intentional about it. Don't act
like you're a victim of these things. You are in charge of the way these relationships go as well.
You know, usually when you change, the people around you will start to change as well. When
you change how you show up, the people around you will usually change the way that they show up as
well. It might take them a little bit of time, but it will eventually happen. Next thing, your
friendships. Are they a type of friendships that you want? Are they the type
of relationships that you want? You have to ask yourself that question. Become very clear of like,
you know, this person has not been my greatest supporter. And if I'm being honest, they're
actually kind of draining my energy. What do I need to do to actually make sure that either I
get on board and this person gets on board with where I'm trying to go in my life, or I spend my time with somebody else, right? You don't have to
get rid of anybody in your life, but you do have to be very intentional about how much time you
spend with every person that you spend time with. Because just because somebody is a part of your
past does not mean that they deserve to be part of your future. That's very true. You have to
understand that. And so you
start to look in around you and realize, oh, that's right. I'm not a tree. If I don't want
to be in this relationship with this person that's been my friend for 16 years, but they
bring me down and complain and talk shit every time that I'm around them, they don't motivate
me. They make me feel worse about myself. Well, maybe that's not the best relationship to stay in
simply because someone has seniority over other people who have
been in your life that are friends, right? You just got to just think about that and really
start to plan out your friendships, your relationships. So the second thing that's
super important to start to plan out is your relationships. Next thing, what you do for money.
You spend 40% of your waking hours working. Why not do something that you love? The average person spends 40% of their
waking hours working. There is nothing that you will spend more time doing in your lifetime than
working. That's pretty wild. Why would you ever do something that you hate just for money? Let's be
real. You're basically, you know, if you're working a desk job that you hate
just simply for money,
you're just prostituting out yourself
on a desk job for money.
Like you are not brought here
just to work and pay the bills and die.
You have to become aware of that.
You need to figure out what is it you want to do
for whatever is it,
like whatever you want to spend your time doing
to make money, you need to figure out what that is.
And some people are like, oh, well, what I'd love to time doing to make money, you need to figure out what that is. And some people are like,
oh, well, what I'd love to do doesn't make money.
Well, first off, I thought we got rid of the poo-poo pants.
But people can complain,
oh, what I love to do doesn't make money.
Okay, cool.
Well, can you figure out a way to make money doing that?
Or can you figure out a way,
like I would be completely fine
with somebody making less money
at a job that they kind of liked,
but it freed up more time for them to do what they want
in their free time.
So let's say someone just really loves riding dirt bikes.
It's like their passion in life.
And they know they're not gonna be
a professional dirt bike rider.
Okay, cool.
Well, can you get a job that allows you
to provide for yourself, provide for
your family? You don't hate it, but then also at the same time allows you to have a passion outside
of it. Because that's important is to have some sort of passion, what you do for money, but also
what you do outside of the time when you're making money. What can you do to bring more joy into your
life in all aspects? But if there's a possibility of you finding a job that you enjoy, you don't have to
be in love with it, but you at least enjoy it. Hell yeah, I would much rather you do that.
And for some reason, I don't know why it is, but it seems like a lot of people that I talk to
feel like in order to make more money, it needs to be more of a struggle. It needs to be something
that you don't enjoy. It needs to be something harder. Whoever said that to make more money,
it had to be a struggle. It had to be harder. It had to be something that. Whoever said that to make more money, it had to be a struggle. It had to be
harder. It had to be something that you don't enjoy. I've never actually seen that that's a
fact. And so if there is something out there that you want to switch to and you want to do,
there's a pretty good chance that you'll make money at it. And the crazy part about it,
I've seen people make crazy amounts of money doing things that you would never think of. I know somebody who made $2.5 million last year teaching people online with her jump roping course.
Yeah, you heard that right. There's so many crazy ways to make money online nowadays.
It doesn't make any sense to just sit back and not try. If I were to say to you,
before telling you that story, is there any way to make money being a professional jump roper?
You'd probably be like, no.
There might be a couple of contests throughout the course of the year,
but I don't see anybody becoming a millionaire.
I don't see anybody becoming a millionaire from teaching people how to jump rope.
Well, wrong.
It's possible.
$2.5 million last year.
So this is the thing that people don't realize is you have applied knowledge in something. You could also teach that to other people,
become a coach or consultant in some sort of way, and be able to make money doing that.
100% possible. Why not at least try to put, you know, dive into making money online and trying
to do something that you're passionate about? Because there's a lot of different ways to make
money. I have a friend who literally teaches people how to play
guitar online, makes tons of money doing. I have another friend who teaches people vocal lessons.
He's got 250,000 followers on YouTube. He makes money off of his course. He also makes money off
of his ad revenue. You can't tell me that those things are, it's impossible to find a passion to
make money off of it. It's just going to take a little bit more research of how to make money online, how to do it. So what you spend your money doing is something
that you need to start to become aware of and start to think of, if I'm going to spend the
majority of my time doing this, is this what I want to be doing? That's number three. Number four,
last one, is your body. Do you like the way that you look? If you don't like the way that you look,
body. Do you like the way that you look? If you don't like the way that you look, change it.
Work out more, eat better, drink less alcohol, drink more water. Your body is not something that just happens. If we're talking about a real victim, your body is the victim of your choices.
You're not a victim in any of these circumstances. Your body is the victim of your choices though.
It just responds and tries to
keep you going from some of the things that we've done to it over the years, right? And you can't
say like, oh, well, you know, I have this problem in my family. I have this problem in my family,
whatever. We all have different problems. And I mean, we all have problems in our families,
if we're being honest, right? But there's all different genes and things that we have,
but you can't look at yourself and be like, well, there's no way that I could do it, right?
I have a friend that has no legs and two arms that's in better shape than 95% of people listening.
Simply because he just made the decision to do so.
He literally biked with his hands.
He's got a special bike from California all the way across the United States.
He's got no legs, but he did it.
And so you have to start as yourself when you start thinking about
it. You're like, man, maybe I haven't made too many excuses. Like, well, my knee hurts,
so it's hard for me to do squats, right? There's excuses that we make. You can't act like you're
the victim of your circumstance. You've got to step up and be the victor of everything that you
do. No more victim mentality. Always be the victor. So if there's something about your body,
if you look in the mirror and you're not satisfied the way that it looks and the way that you take care of yourself
and how long you think you're going to live, change it. You're not a tree. You can change
anything. You can change your body. You can change what you do for money. You can change,
you know, the city that you live in. You can change your relationships, every single one of them.
But it comes down to stop acting like you are the victim of your circumstances and start realizing
your circumstances were built by you, either intentionally or unintentionally.
If you want to make a change,
the best time to make a change is now.
And I understand if you want to change your job,
it might take some time and some transitioning,
but give yourself a plan.
You can transition over the next two years,
save for the next two years
and figure out what is it you want to do,
why you build an online business
or why you find a better skillset to work on something
to be able to leave.
It is completely up to you.
Do not act like you're the victim of your circumstances
because everything in your life,
you are in control of what happens to it,
where you go from it and what you build.
And so if you want to make a change,
now is the best time to change.
Be intentional about it, figure it out and work towards it.
