Welcome to today's episode of the Mindset Mentor Podcast. I'm your host, Rob Dylann.
If you have not yet done so, hit that subscribe button so that you never miss another podcast
episode. And if you've listened to this podcast before and you've gotten any type of value
from it, do me a favor if you would, go ahead and give us a rating review on Apple Podcasts
or iTunes or however you listen to us because it helps us jump in the algorithm, which then means
more people can find us, which then means more people's lives can be changed. So if you could
give us a rating review, I would greatly, greatly appreciate it. Today, we're going to be talking
about how one decision can completely change your entire life. Now, I guess you could call it this, how to change your life
could be the topic of this episode, but that's probably the most stereotypical BS for someone
who's considered a quote unquote motivational speaker, even though I don't consider myself a
motivational speaker in any sort of way. But I just want to talk to the core of you and who you are
and to create whatever it is that you're trying to create.
And let me take a step back before we do that. Your life, everything that you have of it,
everything that you've had, everything that you currently have, and everything that you will have,
your entire life is just a bunch of decisions. That's all that it is. Also, just side note,
if you decide not to decide, that's still a decision. If you decide,
you know, oh yeah, I'm not going to make a decision on this, that's still a decision not to make a decision. So your life is all little decisions. Some are tiny decisions, some are big.
Most of them are tiny decisions though. And that's why I actually think it's more important to pay
attention to the small micro decisions that you make throughout the day than the big ones.
And this is one of the things that holds a lot of people back.
And why do I say that?
Is because of the fact that this literally more than anything that I can think of
is people will not make a full commitment, a decision to fully commit to something.
And that's one of the reasons why they don't get what they want to in life
is because they don't fully commit to the thing that they want.
They kind of have a plan A, they have a plan B, they have a plan C just in case.
And we live in a world full of toe dippers. They're dipping their toes in, they're just
testing the water and see how it works. And, ooh, that one's a little bit too cold. Ooh,
that one's a little bit too warm. And they don't really figure out exactly where they want to go.
And they never fully jump in to the life that they want because they're just dipping their toes in.
I got a question for you. Have you been dipping your toes in with a lot of stuff in your life? Have you been dipping your toes in here? Oh, let me see if this business works. Oh, let me dip
my toes and see if this relationship works. If you want to set yourself apart from other people
in the world, you've got to stop dipping your toes in and you've got to fully commit. If you fully commit to one thing and one thing only, you will be light years ahead of other
people in this world. Why? Because most people just cannot commit to something. If you can commit,
fully commit your mind, your body, your being, everything 100% to something, you'll succeed.
That's not going to happen right away. I promise you that. The universe is going to test you and see how bad you actually truly
want it. But if you make the decision of like, this is my life, this is what I'm going to do,
and there is no other option, eventually success will catch up with you. It won't not.
But the problem is most people are like, you know what? I'm going to have this
business and I'm going to put majority of my effort into it. But I'm also going to start
this side project just in case this business doesn't work out. And we all know that if you're
starting a side project, just in case the business doesn't work out, your business probably isn't
going to work out. It's like, could you imagine what if you got married to somebody and they kept
somebody on the side just in case your marriage didn't work out?
Would you be stoked about that relationship?
Do you think that marriage would last if they're like, hey, let me just, I'm going to date this other person just in case we don't work out.
How would you feel about that?
Probably not very good, would you?
probably not very good, would you? So you've got to think about that way and say, okay,
if I don't want to be in a relationship with someone who's not fully in a relationship with me,
why would I want to be in a business if I'm not fully in the relationship with that business?
Am I only toe dipping? Am I putting 75% of myself into it? In this relationship, by putting 75% of myself into it, what happens when you fully commit to something?
You have to fully commit 100%. And what I mean by that is like you succeed or you die trying. There is no
other option. You have to burn the ships. And if you've never heard the story, it might be a story,
it might be a fable. Nobody knows if it's true or not, but there's a story of a Spanish conqueror
comes over across back when the ships were wooden back in, you know, 15, 1600s, whenever the hell
they came over. I don't know. I'm not a history buff, but they came over at some point in time. And, uh, and you know, he could tell that his people
were on the boat. His guys were not a hundred percent in. They were kind of like, uh, we,
I don't know if we want to be doing this. I don't know if we want to go back home.
He could tell they weren't a hundred percent in. And so when they landed on shore, he said, men,
burn the ships. Everyone's like, what do you mean? He's like, burn the ships because either we succeed in conquering this place or we die trying.
That is how mentally you have to be with whatever it is that you want to do in life. You have to
make the decision that this is a thing. This is the only thing that I will do. And there's no
other option. That's it. You burn the ships. I remember
not too long ago, I was in, I was over at a friend's house and it was me and then two other
guys and all of us entrepreneurs. And we were in the sauna for like an hour, super long time. And
we're talking really deeply about business and everything. And one of the questions was asked,
and we all had to go around to answer the question is why do you think that you've succeeded?
And so everybody had a different answer.
And the answer that I came up with, the two answers I came up with is number one,
I'm not afraid to start something. And number two, whenever I start, I just don't stop it because I have the feeling that eventually it's going to work out because sometimes you got to
fail a lot and failure is not final. Failure is just a function.
And so I've got to screw up a lot of different things in order to get it right. And so when I,
you know, I talk about this pretty often, but the podcast, this podcast took a long time to
grow to the size it is now. And then eventually it ended up hitting and taking off. Then it
exploded, right? But even before then, when I first started podcasting, I knew nothing about podcasting. I
started six years ago and six years ago, podcasts are not what we're not what they are now. Now,
it's like everybody has a podcast and they're big deal. Like back then, people didn't even
know how to listen to podcasts. And a lot of people didn't even know what a podcast was back
then. Hey, today's episode is brought to you by Athletic Greens, the health and wellness company

So I had to figure out the podcasting thing, figure out what works, what doesn't. And when I
figured out what didn't work
it's not like I
Decided oh my gosh i'm a failure. It's like oh this didn't work. Okay, cool
Let me figure out what does work and then after that what happened just so you have an idea of
How this whole thing actually grew
Then what happened was I decided that you know, there's not a whole lot of people listening to podcasts
So I should go where everybody is
And at that point in time everybody was on facebook Facebook. Facebook was bigger than Instagram, was bigger than anything else.
Now it seems like Instagram and TikTok have taken over Facebook quite a bit. And I realized that
there's a lot of people that are out there. And so I said, okay, how can I take my podcast episodes,
15 to 20 minute podcast episodes, and how can I make them into short,
shareable videos, two and a half to three minutes long. And I became obsessed with
this idea of how can I create viral videos of me just talking directly to camera? How can I get
these videos to go viral? I had a lot of videos that didn't get barely any views. And then I got
one video and I started to like, I got a lot of videos that didn't have many views, but I got
some, I got a couple and I started seeing like what works, what doesn't, what works, what doesn't. I started making tiny adjustments.
And then I got one video about how people are addicted to overthinking. And that video in its
first couple months did 10 million views. I was like, oh shit, I think I've cracked the code.
And I started figuring it out. And then over the next two and a half years, I did about 1.5 billion views on Facebook organically alone, not through Facebook ads,
organically shared. And my number one video as of this point right now is at 101 million views.
It was called Why You Should Quit Your Job. And I just talked about how when people aren't
fulfilled, they should be quitting their job and doing something that fulfills them.
Now, I didn't start making videos and then just immediately it was amazing.
It took me about eight months to figure out what worked and what didn't work.
Titles, how to start the video, how to end the video,
how to make the video as short as possible.
But the reason why I share this is because I didn't know at first how to do it.
But I wasn't going to not succeed at it because I had the feeling of,
I need to build a following where everybody else is, and that will help me spread my message.
Then what I did is once my following got big enough, then I started telling people on Facebook
about my podcast and people started moving and listening to my podcast. And then from there,
I started a coaching company. And before I was a coach, I didn't know a whole lot about coaching.
I had helped a lot of people, never personally got paid for coaching and to be a coach. But when I was
younger, 19 to 24, I had trained 2000 sales reps and I'd done a lot of coaching with them. I just
never was actually paid as a coach. And so I never knew anything about it. I just jumped in.
Decided to do a cannonball instead of toe dipping. It was, I'm going to succeed at this
or I'm going to die trying. And, you know, crazily enough, it's just weird the way that it works out.
It went well. You know, I was making decent money for a little while, decent money for a little
while. Then I figured something out that really worked for me. And the business is going to do,
you know, we've done multiple millions of dollars, multiple years in a row.
That's pretty awesome. And I don't say that to brag. I just say it because it didn't start off this way. It wasn't like I had a million dollar
business when I first started it six years ago. No, it took time to get there. But what it came
with was the decision of I'm going to succeed at this no matter what. When I started podcasting,
I was like, I'm not going to stop. I'm just not going to stop creating episodes.
I might die and I still have podcast episodes I'm putting out, right? I might just, to the day I die, it might be, you know, 50 years from now, 60 years from now,
it's like podcast number 17,842. I don't know. It's like, I might continue doing it. Podcasting
might switch to something else. But there was never a thought in my mind of, I'm going to give
up on podcasting. When I decided to make viral videos, there was never an idea of like, I'm going
to give up on this. When I started to start coaching, it was never an idea of I'm going to give up on podcasting. When I decided to make viral videos, there was never an idea of like, I'm going to give up on this. When I started to start coaching, it was never an idea of I'm going
to give up on this. And I think what happens, and it's hard to explain, and I don't fully understand
it, but when you fully commit to something, it's like the universe loves that shit. God, the
universe, source, nature, whatever it is, loves it when you go, there is no other option.
And once you make that decision, it's like all of the powers come to your side. All of the
synchronicities start lining up and the universe or God starts sending you all of the people,
places, opportunities, and things to come your way to support you in that vision. But you don't get
any of that until you finally make the decision
that you're 100% in and there is no other option.
When you 100% commit, that's when you start getting that.
But you can't be 99.9% in.
It's gotta be like 100% in.
Once you're 100% in, then you can start getting it.
And I always use the example of like,
if you look at LeBron James, for instance, right?
LeBron James is an incredible basketball player.
One of the top three basketball players ever, in my opinion.
Now, when you look at that, he didn't become one of the top basketball players ever by
playing basketball Monday through Friday when he was younger, and then playing, you know,
baseball Saturday and Sunday, just in case basketball didn't work out.
Now, there was a point in his life in high school where he had to decide,
okay, I'm in.
I'm 100% in.
This is the thing that I'm going to do.
And once he did that and was able to put all of his effort into getting better,
that's when he really started to get better.
You have to create a 100% commitment to that thing,
which means there are no other options.
As Will Smith says,
there's no reason to have a plan B because plan B distracts from plan A.
And it's a bit hard because you hear people say stuff like, oh, don't put all your eggs in one
basket. Okay. Yeah. For investing in finances, I agree with that. But for a business, I don't
agree with that. I know so many people that have two, three, four, five businesses, and none of
them are really doing as well as they could. Why? Because there's only a certain amount of time that you can go
after something. You only have, what, 164 hours in a week, I think is what it is. You can't work
more than that in a week. So you have to have one business, one focus, one thing that you're
working for 100%. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
When it comes to business, no, put all of your eggs in one basket. Put all of your eggs in one
basket and take care and watch that basket and fully commit all of your life into it.
That's how a marriage works. Full commitment. You have to be fully committed to that person.
Like I said, could you imagine being in a relationship with somebody and they're like,
yeah, well, no, I've been dating this other person.
Like I'm kind of texting them every once in a while just in case this doesn't work out.
Do you think your relationship is going to work out that way?
I don't think so.
So you have to fully commit.
I want you to look back on your life though.
When you look back through decisions that you've made in the past,
have you been a fully committed person or have you been a toe
dipper in some way? Have you been dipping your toes in a little bit? Okay. How's that worked out
for you so far? Not so well? Well, it's going to be the same until you fully commit to it.
Until you say there is no other option. As the great philosopher of our time, Eminem said,
success is my only motherfucking option, failure is not.
That's how you need to be with anything that you do.
Do you want to be, are you in a relationship?
It's got to be that mindset.
You're starting a business?
It's got to be that mindset.
Starting a coaching company?
It's got to be that mindset.
Whatever it is, you have to see as success being your only option.
There are no other options out there.
And it's going to be there until the day you die. It needs that level of commitment. And when you show up with that level of commitment,
that's when the universe really starts to get onto your side. But it all starts
with that one decision. So when I say one decision can completely change your life,
the decision that I'm saying is I am a hundred percent in, and there is no other option.
is I am 100% in and there is no other option.
That's it.
I'm 100% in, there is no other option.
I either succeed at this or I'll spend the rest of my life
working towards being successful.
I'm going to burn all of the ships.
Nothing else exists
except for me working on being successful at this.
Do you have that level of commitment?
Have you ever had that level of commitment?
Most people answer that as no.
But the question I have for you is,
can you bring that level of commitment to the next thing,
the next relationship, the next business idea,
the next financial decision that you make?
100% commitment.
I will burn all of the ships. Nothing else exists
and I will either succeed at this or I will die trying. Can you bring that level of commitment
to what it is that you're doing? Because if you don't, you're never going to get success that
you want. You're never going to get the success that you deserve. You have to be 100% committed
and driven and motivated for that one thing and that one thing only. And only then
will you get the success that you want, the success that you deserve, and the success that
will really start to change your life. Either you commit fully or you don't. But that choice
is fully 100% up to you. So that's what I got for you for today's episode. If you love this episode,
please share it on your Instagram stories and tag me at RobDialJr, R-O-B-D-I-A-L-J-R. And I'm
