I am considering, and I'm about 99% sure that I am going to be rebranding the podcast name. So please don't skip ahead. I need your help. I am thinking about switching the name from MWF Motivation Podcast to the Mindset and Motivation Podcast. The reason why is because I think it makes more sense. It's an easier brand to understand. It's also people always were like, well,
Starting point is 00:01:10 what does MWF stand for? So I've been thinking about the idea of changing it to the mindset and motivation podcast, because not only do I talk about motivation, I talk a lot about mindset. And I think it makes sense to call it the Mindset and Motivation Podcast. So if you're interested in, you know, if you think that I should switch it over, send me an email. Even if you don't, send me an email. Rob at MWFmotivation.com Because I want to know your thoughts of if I should change the name, the pros and cons of changing the name. You know, the difference between MWF Motivation and Mindset and Motivation Podcast. So send me an email, please, because I would love to hear, you know, we get thousands and thousands and thousands of people that will hear this episode. Please give me your feedback.
Starting point is 00:01:54 Send me an email. Do you like MWF Motivation more or do you like Mindset and Motivation Podcast more? Send me an email, rob at mwfmotivation.com and I would appreciate it. All right. So today, what we're going to be talking about is struggling, okay? And I'm going to be talking about struggling. I'm going to be talking about your comfort zone, and I'm going to be talking about pushing yourself past your limits. So I'll kind of let you guys into my life. Something I haven't really told you guys, I don't think, is I have injuries from sports.
Starting point is 00:02:22 I'm a pretty hardcore person. When my adrenaline starts going, I usually, if I was playing sports, I'm a pretty hardcore person. When my adrenaline starts going, I usually, if I was playing sports, I would usually get injured before I would stop doing something. So I have four torn labrum. I have a labrum torn in each shoulder and each hip. You only have four labrum in your body. All four of mine are torn. So therefore, over the past three years, I've been going through rehab. I've been going through physical therapy. I've been, you know, doing workouts with very specific trainers. I'm pretty much close to the point where I am about 85% probably healed, good to go, good to go hardcore back at the gym.
Starting point is 00:02:58 In the past few years, I've lost 30 pounds of muscle. So, you know, I used to be a pretty big guy, decently big, but I lost about 30 pounds of muscle. So, you know, I used to be pretty big guy, decently big, but I lost about 30 pounds of muscle in the past three years. So now I'm starting to gain some of it back. I will never, I never, I have no reason to ever get to the size that I used to be back in the day. But in turn, I've been noticing stuff about myself of having to push myself further than I have been because now I have this new opportunity where I can push myself because I am healed or at least as healed as I'm going to be hopefully. Hopefully I'll get more healed. But I'm at this point where I'm pushing myself past what I have been able to push myself past. And I'm working out hard, like really hard. Like it's been a long time it feels like since I've
Starting point is 00:03:39 really, really, really pushed myself past my comfort zone. And it's fun. I love it because it makes you find new places in your mind of where you can push yourself. And you know that growth and all of the change in everything that you do comes in the last few reps. If you're at the point where you feel like you cannot do anymore, you're going to get the most growth or the most weight loss or the most results when you don't feel like you can do anymore. That's when your body really starts to respond and really forces itself to find a new place. And so it's been making me think it's been interesting watching my body and thinking about my body during a workout and thinking about my mind in a normal day-to-day
Starting point is 00:04:25 process. This is why Mindset and Motivation podcast makes sense, you know, because this is a mindset thing, right? And if you think about it, what you really have to think about is that if you figure that you push yourself as hard as you possibly can in most of the growth, like 75% of your growth or weight loss or whatever it is that you're working towards, I'm just going to use muscle growth because that's what I'm working towards right now. 75% of your muscle growth comes when you feel like you've hit the point where you can't do anymore. Right? So let's think about that for our minds. If we stay in a comfort zone during a workout and we just continue lifting the exact same amount that we've always lifted every single
Starting point is 00:05:03 time we go to the gym, there will be no muscle growth at all, right? Maybe you'll get a little bit more lean, maybe you'll lose some fat, but you're not going to get really any muscle growth. You're not going to get the growth that you want to. So if you think about that in the exact same way of your mindset, what you have to do is realize that if you're in a comfort zone, it's like going into a gym and lifting the exact same weight every single time you go in. You're not going to become a bigger, better person mentally. You're not going to have more bandwidth. You're not going to be more of an impressive person unless you push yourself past the point where you are comfortable.
Starting point is 00:05:39 Right. If you have a certain situation, like if you like first thing I pass my head, if you hate networking. Right. If you have a certain situation, like first thing that pops in my head, if you hate networking, I hate networking, but I force myself to do it anyways because it's so valuable and you get so many good friends and mentors and you can grow your top five. I hate networking, but I force myself to do it. That is something that immediately, that's uncomfortable for me to go out and network all the time.
Starting point is 00:06:01 It's awkward. There's a lot of things in this world that are super uncomfortable, but you know you need to do them in order to get what you want to in life. And most people are stuck in the comfort zone and they never think, how can I push myself? You need to be one of the people that thinks, how can I push myself? Because that's where the growth will happen, right? So if you think of it, the way I think of your mindset is this. When I was in my Cutco days and I used to train thousands of sales reps, we used to say the mind is like a plastic bag. It's not like a rubber band, right? A rubber band, you pull it, it goes back into place. A plastic bag, if you stretch a
Starting point is 00:06:40 plastic bag, it will never go back to the same size that it was before. That is exactly how your mind is. If you're constantly pulling and pushing yourself past your limits, it will stick and you will become a better person. If you think about the hardest times in your life, the times that you really would not wish on anybody, those are also probably your times of biggest growth where you really realized who you are. You really realized what you're capable of. You've pushed yourself past the point that you thought was physically or mentally possible. And that's when you realize, holy crap, I'm much more than I ever thought that I was. And if you continue to push yourself like
Starting point is 00:07:23 a plastic bag and push your capacity, what happens is you're able to get more done. You're able to handle more. You're able to do more stuff with less stress and your bandwidth expands, right? If you think about people like Elon Musk, for instance, what he gets done in 40 hours is like 120 hours for a normal person. If you were to take his 40 hours and another person's 40 hours, he would probably be so much more productive. And the reason why is because he has been through it. He's been through startups.
Starting point is 00:07:53 He's been through the hard times. He's been through the good times. He's been through things and he's been constantly pushing himself and thinking outside of the box and thinking outside of his comfort zone and becoming comfortable living outside of his comfort zone that he has now become more, I don't want to say more of a person,
Starting point is 00:08:09 but mentally more of a person than 99% of people that you ever come across, right? So what I want you to take from this episode is this. Think of this. Are you stuck in a comfort zone? Are you stuck? How long have you been there? Answer to yourself out loud. How long have you been stuck in your current comfort zone? Say it. A year, one year, two years, five years, 10 years, 20 years, 30 years. You know, I ask this when I give talks sometimes and some people say decades. They've been stuck in the same place for decades. Guys, could you imagine 20 years from
Starting point is 00:08:42 now you look back and realize you're in the exact same spot that you are right now? I feel like I'm in a great place in my life, but that would crush me to feel like I lost 20 years of my life, 20 years of what I could have been. It's huge. It's crazy to think about that. And that's something that everybody should think about. So what is your comfort zone if you're stuck in it? And what do you need to do? The question is how long have you been stuck in your comfort zone is number one. Number two, what is
Starting point is 00:09:07 the number one thing you need to do right now within the next couple hours today to push yourself out of your comfort zone? You need to live and become comfortable being uncomfortable and you will start to notice parts of yourself that never existed. Mentally, physically, emotionally. Everything will start to grow around you. You will start to grow. Your bank account will grow. Your happiness will grow. Your relationships will grow.
Starting point is 00:09:32 Everything will if you start to become comfortable doing the uncomfortable. You need to push yourself past what normal people think is possible. What you think is possible. Become comfortable being uncomfortable. The struggle is where you will find out who you really are. So if you like this episode, please share it with someone that you know and someone that you love. Also, once again, please send me an email and let me know if you like, if you think that I should rebrand to Mindset and Motivation Podcast. So switching
Starting point is 00:10:03 from MWF Motivation Podcast to Mindset and Motivation Podcast. So switching from MWF Motivation Podcast to Mindset and Motivation Podcast. I think it just kind of makes sense more for what I'm doing, what we're doing here, but also just kind of flows a little bit better, right? The Mindset and Motivation Podcast. I talk a lot mostly about mindset, not just MWF Motivation. So send me an email, rob at mwfmotivation.com. Let me know your thoughts on switching it. And I'm gonna leave you the same way I leave you every single episode. Make it your mission to make somebody else's day better. I appreciate you and I hope that you have an amazing day.
