how to reprogram your subconscious mind. Now, why would we want to do this? Well,
because you have to understand that 5% of your mind, of your thoughts, of everything that happens is your conscious mind.
95% is your subconscious mind. There's a whole lot that's happening in the background that you're
not even really noticing. And one of the things that I notice with people that holds them back a
lot is that they constantly are living in the past. And so that
makes sense. It makes a lot of sense because that's where you've been and you're basing it
off of factual stuff that's happened in the past, but that's actually holding you back.
Because if you're constantly focusing on the past and you're constantly trying to take the past and
place it into your future, then your future is going to look exactly like your past was. But if you're listening to this podcast, if you're here right now,
you don't want your future to look like your past. So you need to do some sort of rewiring
to make yourself believe that something different, that something greater than your past is possible,
which is what we talk about in the rewiring of the reprogramming of your subconscious.
You know, you don't want your future to look like your past and what you look at, you will create.
So you have to focus on the future that you want and you have to actually kind of brainwash your
subconscious mind into believing that it's possible. Because what's happening is the 95%
that's working in the background is keeping you in the exact same place because that 95%
is focusing on what's happened in the past. But if you're going to create something bigger than
what you've done before in the past, you have to think greater than what you've thought in the
past. You have to think greater than what you've done in the past. And you have to focus on
the future that you want. You have to believe that your imagination is reality or that it will be
reality. This is what you did as a child. Your child, you would, as a child, you would sit there
and you would play with toys and you would make, make the, the, the monsters and you'd have the
princess and you were in this world that you created.
In order for your future to be greater than your past, you're going to have to start to do that.
You're going to have to start to reprogram your subconscious so that doesn't keep you in the
straight track, get in the exact same place that you've always been. You know, Alan Watts always
talks about the past being like the wake of a boat. If you're on a boat and you look behind you
and you can see the waves that the boat is creating, it shows you where you've been, but it doesn't steer the boat.
So humans care about the past, which makes a lot of sense. When you look at the brain,
the human brain is designed to keep you alive. And the one way that it does this is by predicting
the future. And the way it predicts the future is by looking at the past. And the reason why it wants to actually predict the future is because you have a better chance at staying
alive. You can plan, you can make the right moves, and hopefully you can avoid injury, death, all of
that. And this is incredible. It is absolutely incredible. It's one of the biggest things that
kept our species alive, is that we were able to notice things and predict the future based off of the past. The brain protects us based off of what has happened to us in the past and what we've
learned. So it tries to predict, it tries to avoid pain. You know, if your friend ate berries two
years ago that were a black color and died, well then now next time you see black color berries,
you're not going to eat them again. It's amazing.
Absolutely amazing for staying alive.
But it is absolutely terrible if you're trying to create a successful life. If you're trying to reprogram your subconscious, if you're trying to grow a business, if you're
trying to get out of your comfort zone, it is terrible because your brain wants to predict.
That's what it wants to do. So if your brain wants
to predict, and if we're not in control of it, it's constantly predicting the past onto the future.
So if it wants to predict, if we kind of throw ourselves in there, what if we gave it a new thing
to predict? What if we step in and we're in charge of its predictions? And if we are in charge of our
predictions, then we actually start in charge of our predictions,
then we actually start to rewire our brain in ways when we start to actually change our
subconscious. This is where your intention comes in. You can let your brain predict the future
from the past if you want to, or you can step in and you can be in charge of the prediction
through visualization. You decide what you want your future to look like, and you
get so focused on that future that the brain doesn't go to the past. Your brain, the beautiful
thing about it, it's amazing, but it mostly does not know the difference between something that is
happening right now in reality or something that is visualized. And this isn't some like
woo woo BS. There's been many studies on this. Richard Shin did a study on this and found out
whether they were looking with Olympic athletes and they would have them run a race and they
would hook them up to electrodes and kind of see what was happening in their bodies. They were
running the race. They'd see what was happening in their brain. They would see what happened in
their muscles. And then what they did was they had them sit down and they hooked electrodes up to their
brain and their body the same way.
And the athlete's muscles showed very similar activation when they were visualizing their
routines versus actually running them, which means that they visualize them so in depth
that their brain and their body actually started responding as if they were
running that race, indicating the brain's response is the same as actual performance.
Approximately 90% of Olympic athletes this past year use mental imagery to prepare for their
competitions. If it didn't work, why the hell would they use it? So when you
imagine this, imagining activates brain areas that are similar to reality. And so there's been
studies, Dr. Kostelin actually revealed this, that visualizing an event activates the same brain
areas as if it's experiencing it. And this is really good for us because if we're, think about this first, just take a, take a ride with me, right? If our brain is predicting the future off of the past,
well, then if we sit down and we visualize something over and over and over again of what
we want our future to look like and live as if we're already there and actually visualize it. And our brain doesn't know
the difference between what's happening and what's not happening. That means our brain will then
store it as reality and store it as the past, which means that we can take that past and throw
it quote unquote past and throw it into our future. And what's really good about this is because of the fact that you feel
and think like you've already done it before, your fear and anxiety around quote unquote doing it the
first time, but really doing it again, your brain thinks, your fear and your anxiety goes down
around it. And it's really effective for anxiety reduction. Visualization techniques are commonly
used in therapy to help reduce anxiety. And the
brain responds to imagined scenarios similarly than the way it does to real ones. But what you're
making your brain do, you're kind of in a way brainwashing yourself to believe that it's already
possible and it's already been done. So therefore you don't have this mental barrier of, well, I need to keep myself in my comfort zone
to protect myself.
Now it's like your brain's almost thinking subconsciously,
I've already done this before.
It makes you think that you've already done it.
This means that it thinks and then stores everything
as if it was a true past.
And we will be right back. And now back to the show.
And this is good because otherwise it would take your old past and it would place it into your
future. You know, I don't want that to happen. You know, if you had a failed business in the past
and you think to yourself, you know what, I really want to start my own business again.
I really want to start a business. I have this new idea, but you had a failed business in the past and your brain wants to make predictions.
Guess what it's going to do? Yeah, it's going to make predictions that your new business is going
to fail most likely and protect you from that failure because it was a lot of pain. It was a
lot of heartache when you had that failed business. And so it's going to try to protect you from that
because what happened in the past? Your business failed. If you haven't had a failed business. And so it's going to try to protect you from that because what happened in the past? Your business failed. If you haven't had a failed business yourself, but you know someone
who's had a failed business, guess what it's going to do? It's going to make predictions based off of
other people's businesses that you know in the past, what it has seen in the past. Why? Because
it wants to protect you from pain. If you've been cheated on in the past and you want to get into another
relationship, guess what your brain is going to do? It's going to make predictions about your new
partner and maybe them cheating. Why? Because it wants to protect you from pain. And this is
completely unintentional and usually goes on without anybody ever knowing, which is
why it's called the subconscious. It is under the conscious mind. It is almost imperceivable.
So you're not really perceiving the whole thing. And so it's unintentional and the subconscious
self-sabotage cycle ends up perpetuating itself over and over and over again. So what do we do?
We create the future in our minds that we want.
We get clear as hell on it and we visualize it as often as we possibly can. You create your own
future. So first off, you have to get very clear on what you want, as detailed as you possibly can.
Not like, oh, you know what? I'd like to make more money. That's stupid. No. How much money do you
want to make? What do you want it to look like? What are you going to do? What kind of life is that going to afford for you? Get very clear on every single
detail. Well, I want to get into a relationship with a perfect partner. Okay, cool. That sucks.
Tell me more. Just go into more detail. Who is that person? What do they look like? What's their
body type? How tall are they? What's their hair color? Just go into as much as how are they as
a person? How do they treat you? How do they hold your hand when you're walking down the street?
Become as clear as you possibly can
because the more clear that you can become,
the better you can visualize it.
And the better you visualize it,
the more that you actually start
to reprogram your subconscious
to believing that it has happened before,
which means believing that it is possible
to happen again in the future.
So you get very clear.
And I don't think I can stress clarity enough. Whenever you write down what it is that you wrote down,
go, how can I make this more clear? And then make it more clear. Okay. Because the better you can
see it, the better, more clear it is, the better that you can visualize it. That's the first thing.
The second thing is you, if you really, I mean, are actually serious about this, like really,
really serious about this, you really, really serious about this,
you have to visualize every single day. You have to visualize it every single day. What does it
look like? What does it feel like? What does it smell like? What is it inside of your body when
you accomplish this goal? What does that pride in the sense of accomplishment feel like when you finally realize you got to X.
And you've got to basically live in your future at every moment of the day, because most of us
are living in the past every moment of the day and allowing our subconscious to throw predictions
into the moment that we're in and into the future to keep us into the exact same place.
into the moment that we're in and into the future to keep us into the exact same place.
You need to become so excited about the future that you want. And then what happens, what's really important about this is a lot of us have big goals. We have things that we want to do.
And when we think about those big goals, there's a little bit of a feeling of fear within us. Like,
oh my God, that's a lot. That's going to require a lot of me. I don't know if I can do this. I
don't know if I'm good enough. I'm smart enough. And so by visualizing that future, we start to feel
fear. And that fear kind of paralyzes us a little bit. It keeps us in the same place.
So what you want to do is you want to visualize a future so much that when you think about the
future, you don't have the fear, but you have the feeling of excitement of that future. And you use that feeling of excitement to drive
you to take action. Because people like familiarity, which is why they go back to the past.
So then the question is, can you make yourself more familiar with the future that you want
than of your past? Can you be more familiar with the future that you want than the past that
you have? The past only happened once. Whatever moment you're thinking of happened once.
A visualized future can happen every single morning. So instead of feeling fear about the
future based off of the past being thrown into that future,
here's what's really interesting. Can we instead of feeling fear about the future,
which doesn't exist, which isn't real right now, we feel fear about the future. Can we in turn
start to fall so in love with the future, become so obsessed with the future. Can you feel so in love with that future that you actually feel grateful for that future
in the present moment that hasn't happened yet, but will?
If I can feel fear about a future that hasn't happened yet, can I feel gratitude about a
future that hasn't happened yet?
Yes, I can.
Can you learn to be grateful for a future that is coming to you?
When you start to think about it, your mind is this incredible thing. When you look at the
placebo effect, people are given sugar pills and it cures many diseases because they think a sugar
pill is actually a cure. So just by them thinking that they're healed, they become healed. This shows you the sheer power of belief and how
it can shape our reality. The more that we believe in our future vision, the more that we will take
actions that align with it and the easier it will be to take action so we don't keep self-sabotaging.
You are who you are because of your past and your perception of the past. If that's true,
you can become whoever you want to be based off of your visualization
of what you want your future to be.
And that's really important for every single person to understand.
You have to just visualize, and this is the key part that I want to bring in, right?
Visualize it, feel it every single day, as often as you possibly can.
But whenever you do, what I want you to do is release control of when it will
happen. Just know that with every single fiber of your body that it will happen. The when, you're
not in control of. There's some other thing that's out there. God, the universe, life, whatever it is,
the quantum field is in control of the when. You just have to be able to be the
person that says, I know it's going to happen with every single fiber of my body. Just completely
release when it's going to happen though. What you do is you mentally rehearse your future in
your mind over and over and over and over again. And you will start to reprogram your subconscious.
You'll start to create new neural pathways inside of your brain to make these things actually happen.
It can be really hard at first.
It feels really weird at first,
but you start to settle into it the more that you do it.
If you feel like you're doing it wrong,
you're probably doing it right
because your body and your mind are in the unfamiliar
and that can feel uncomfortable.
I must be screwing this up.
No, no, no, you're doing it right because you should feel uncomfortable for the first few times you do
it. You should feel unfamiliar. You've never been in this place before, but when you mentally
rehearse your future over and over and over again, every single day at the beginning of the day,
at the end of the day, and you start to actually feel it every single day, you're going to start to become more self-aware
of like, oh, I'm noticing that I'm starting to get more excited about this. Oh, I'm starting to
notice. And you'll start to notice people, places, things, opportunities pop up around you to make it
easier for you to step into the future that you want. It's almost as if it's, you know, you can
say synchronicity, you can say law of attraction, all of those things. Maybe you've just set your reticular activating system to be aware,
like hyper aware and tuned in to the people, places, opportunities that pop up in your life
that now make it possible for you to create the future that you want.
And so if you want to change your future, if you want to change your life, it comes with you
reprogramming your subconscious mind first. Figure out what you want, become very clear on it, and then visualize it. Make it a habit, make it a ritual, make it
something that is one of the most important things that you do every single day. And that is how you
reprogram your subconscious mind. And if you love this episode, please do me a favor, share it on
