Welcome to the Mindset and Motivation Podcast, one of the top motivational podcasts in the
world.
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we come out with a short, to the point, no BS episode
to help make massive changes in your mind and transform you from who you are now to
who you want to be.
My name is Rob Dial, and the podcast starts now.
Welcome to today's episode. If you have not yet done so, hit the subscribe button so that you
never miss another episode. And this is the second to last time that I'm going to mention
my one-on-one
coaching. So if you are someone who is out there, you're making over six figures a year and you feel
like you're stuck, like you've been making around the same amount for a while, you've been around
the same amount in your bank account, you've been around the same amount in your career,
you've been around the same amount of your personal growth, and you're ready to take it
to the next level. I find that most people usually hit a plateau at about $50,000
a year. And then usually the next plateau is between around $100,000 to $150,000, maybe a
little bit more, is when other people hit plateau. And most people usually never get past that point
or around that point, maybe just a little bit higher. And so if you're out there and if you're
at that point, you're trying to break through, you're trying to get to the next level of your career into how much money you make,
into how much happiness you have, into the relationships you have, into the fulfillment
that you have, the spirituality that you really are trying to grow. And you want some extra
coaching and someone to hold you accountable to help you get to that next level in every aspect
of your life. Send me an email, rob at robdial.com. I have one spot
now that is currently open. The other spot was taken. So out of all the applications that we
have had currently, one of those spots has been filled. So I do have one more coaching spot with
me. I only allow six one-on-one coaching clients at a time and very rarely does this opportunity
come up. So if you're interested in one-on-one coaching with me, send me an email, rob at robdial.com. I will respond
with the application so you can fill out all the information and we can go from there. So send me
an email, rob at robdial.com and we can chat about it then. But what I'm going to talk about today
is adversity and how adversity is actually what makes you. It's what defines you.
Now, adversity is actually what makes you.
It's what defines you.
And I wanted to do an episode solely based on adversity.
And the reason why is because I want to help you if you're going through crap,
or I want to help you when you eventually do go through crap.
Because here's the thing about life.
You will go through adversity at some point again before you die.
You will.
I will. We all will. That is life. Adversity will hit every single one of us. People will die. Businesses will fail. People will let us down. We will run
out of money. We will get hit by a car. We will get into car accidents. We will, you know, whatever.
Things will be going really well and then they're going to hit rock bottom and fall out and the economy is going to take a dump. Which just so you know, if you haven't planned ahead,
do some research. The economy is going to drop in the next six to nine months at the latest.
So it's not going to stay great and peachy and amazing forever. Just so you guys know,
do research on that. Not going to talk about it anymore, but I'm calling it. It's going to happen.
Just so you guys know, do research on that. Not going to talk about it anymore, but I'm calling it. It's going to happen. It's a fact. It has to happen based on the way that the cycles work.
So adversity is a given. It's going to happen no matter what. We all have a choice to do
what we will do when that adversity hits them. If we expect that someday it will eventually happen,
then we can deal with it the correct way when it
does. Because here's the deal. What you do and what you become when adversity hits is where your
story is written. Imagine that your life story is just one big book. This is how I imagine my story.
It's one big book or one big movie because I eventually will write a book one day.
And that adversity gives me a better plot twist. It gives me the like Phoenix coming out of the fire story of how I overcame it. And so I look at these adversities that I get and I'm like,
hell yes, I have some adversity because this is how awesome my story is going to be when I
overcome this crap. And that's the thing that I see. I see nothing. And I mean,
nothing ever that will hold me back from what I want to do and what I want to become. Nothing.
If I get hit by a... I was about to cuss. Sorry, guys. If I get hit by a freaking truck,
like this is how passionate I'm getting. If I get hit by a mother effing truck,
when I wake up in the morning and I'm in the hospital for the next three years,
it will not stop me from getting to where I want to be. And that's how you should be as well.
It's just part of my success story. Whatever happens, the adversity that happens to you is
part of your success story. I recommend that you think of things the exact same way.
If you screwed up your whole life and you're 45 years old and it's all been crap and bad
mistakes and everybody hates you and you've got absolutely nothing, imagine that it's
a movie starting right now and it just started and you're the one guy who's in the absolute
terrible position that's addicted to heroin, that's got all those crazy things.
Your story, that movie starts right now and it's going to have a great ending if you work
towards making it a great ending if you work towards making
it a great ending. Know that adversity will eventually hit you. And when it does, react to
it the right way as if it's just a game. Because that's how I see my whole life. It's just a game.
These things are trying me to build my character. Those moments of trying times,
that's what will build your character. Show me a successful person and I guarantee you that you will be showing me someone who's been scraped through crap that has had their
body just drug across the coals for a long time. I guarantee you they haven't had an easy path.
Don't make excuses as to why you're not successful and they are. Oh, they had a better life than I
did. Oh, they had a better upbringing. My parents hated me. They told me all of these things and I was beaten as a kid. And listen,
that's terrible if that happened, but that doesn't need to define what somebody else did to you
doesn't need to define what the rest of your life is going to be. What you've done in the past
doesn't need to define what you're going to be. Don't tell me somebody had it easy. Nobody ever has it easy. There's a
good chance that somebody may have had it harder than you, but they just don't look at it because
it's the tip of the iceberg. You see the tip of the iceberg, which is a success. You don't see
the miles and miles under all the crap they had to go through to get there.
They always say that an overnight success takes 10 years to get there because you just see the
success. You don't see it when they're like, a few episodes ago when I told you about how there was a few
months where I was literally living off just pasta, $0.88 box of pasta from Walmart and $1.88
for the pasta sauce. That's what I lived off for a few months. And people don't look at that part
and go, oh yeah, well, this probably person was successful and they have all of this stuff,
whatever it might be. They must have had it easy. Nobody's ever really had it easy.
Sure, they might've had it easier than you and they might be successful,
but that shouldn't be your excuse because I guarantee there's been somebody that's had it
harder than you that has been successful. It's adversity. Adversity is fun. It's a game and it's
fun if you make it that way. And that's what I try to do in
my head. I have it be part of my story. And here's the thing. Don't wish for less adversity.
Don't wish for less problems. Wish for more skills. If you're hoping for a world with less
problems and waiting for that to come to you, then you will be waiting the rest of your life.
Develop your skills. Become better. Because here's the deal.
We are all just pretty insignificant beings
floating on a tiny rock through an infinite amount of space.
Our problems in reality are pretty much nothing.
They mean nothing.
And you're gonna die some way.
I'm gonna die some, you're gonna die someday.
I'm gonna die someday.
Someday might be soon.
And I don't know about you,
but I want to be
remembered in a thousand years. What drives me every single day is the fact that I know I'm
going to die. And I want to have a legacy so strong that people are talking about me in a
thousand years, not for my own dead man ego, but for me to know when I leave that I did so much
good in the world that I'm still going to be talked about in a thousand years. So no matter what your life is at this point, no matter how good or how bad it is,
whenever the adversity hits, if you're going through adversity now, it's your freaking story
and the movie starts right now. What are you going to do to overcome it? If your life was a story,
if your life was a book, if it was a movie, would it be some boring story that nobody wants to watch and no movie that somebody wants to go and pay money to go see? Or would it be something
awesome? Because here's the deal. Adversity is going to hit how we react to it is going to define
what our life is going to be. So change your mindset about adversity and realize that it's
going to happen no matter what. I just got fired up. Went off on a tangent there for a second.
I just got fired up. Went off on a tangent there for a second. I want to be remembered in a thousand years for doing really good stuff in this world. And like I said, not for my old dead ego in a
thousand years, because I'll be dead in a thousand years, sadly. But because of the fact that that's
what I want to be doing. So you should know that you're going to die at one day and your adversity
will happen. And how you work with that adversity will define what your story is going to die at one day and your adversity will happen and how you work with that adversity
will define what your story is going to be. See it as a game. See it as a story. See it as a movie
and realize that when it hits, that's just the plot twist and you need to figure out how to
overcome it. So with that, if you know somebody that's going through a lot of crap right now,
somebody that's going through a lot of crap right now, send them this episode, please.
And let them know that there is something to work for all the time. And they will get through it eventually because it's ebbs and flows, ups and downs. It's all cycles. That's how your life is
going to work. So with that, if you like it, please share it with somebody that you know.
And I'm going to leave you the same way I leave you every single episode.
Make it your mission today to make somebody else's day better. I appreciate you,
and I hope that you have an amazing day.
