So today is your wake-up call. Today I'm going to be talking about taking action.
I was driving in my car today and I was listening to nothing. It was
just silence. And I thought to myself, you know, I have so many podcast episodes I put up. I put up
over 600, you know, approaching 700, I think podcast episodes. There's so many episodes for
someone to listen to. And I get emails. And the reason I was thinking about this, cause I get
emails from people saying, Hey Rob, I'm starting back at day one at, at episode emails. And the reason why I was thinking about this, because I get emails from people saying, hey, Rob, I'm starting back at day one, at episode one.
And number one, I'm like, holy crap.
Episode one was crap compared to these ones.
Like I was still trying to figure out who I was and I was trying to figure out how to
get better and all of those things.
And I thought to myself, hold on.
I'm flattered.
First off, that someone would want to listen to all of my episodes.
But number two, it comes to a point where I'm being honest with you. You need to turn
me off. You need to stop listening to me. You need to stop reading books. You need to stop going to
all of the events. And as much as I say that you should read personal growth, that you should read
books, that you should find mentors, you should do all these things. Sometimes people, what they do,
and this might be you, what you do is you start listening so much that you don't take action.
And you trick yourself into thinking that you're getting a lot done because you're listening to
the podcast, because you're listening to other people's podcasts, because you're reading the
books, because you're going to the seminars, because you're hiring the mentors, because you're doing this and because
you're doing that, because you're doing this and because you're doing that. But actually what you're
really doing is you're afraid to take action. Let me say that again. You're afraid to take action.
So you're trying to act like you're taking action by doing all of these other things and trying to
distract yourself and say, no, no, no, I'm growing, I'm growing, I'm growing, I'm growing, but you're actually not taking action.
There's a point in time where you need to stop learning and you need to just take action.
I remember I got to this point in my life a few years ago where I realized that I was reading so
much. I had read over, I think like 50 books that year and I was reading a ton and I was going to
all of the conferences and I was going to all of the conferences and I was going to all these things and I was spending more time growing, which is a good thing.
I'm not saying don't grow. Of course I'm saying grow, but I was spending more time growing and
almost no time taking action. And so I want you to know that you know what you need to do.
You don't necessarily always have to learn. I'm not saying never listen to my
podcast again. But what I am saying is there's a time when instead of listening to 15 of my podcast
episodes in a day, cut it down a little bit and then go and actually get crap done. Like do
something. Do something that's going to change your life. Do something that's going to change
somebody else's life around you. Do something that's going to make you money. Do something that's going to change your life. Do something that's going to change somebody else's life around you. Do something that's going to make you money.
Do something that's going to change your children's life.
Stop listening.
Stop growing sometimes and start taking action.
You know what you need to do to be successful.
But the secret is that you have to actually do something.
Knowledge means nothing.
Action means everything. Because if you don't apply
your knowledge, it's pointless. It's just sitting up there. You have to look down at your feet.
You have to lift up one foot and you have to put it down. And you have to look at the next foot.
You have to lift it up. You have to put it down. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Take the fricking steps. Don't read about the steps. Don't read about the thousand
miles. Don't read about the destination. Don't read about the journey. Lift your fricking foot up
and move it. That's what you have to do. You have to take action. Success is not hard. It's really not. I've studied a lot of successful
people. I've gotten what most people would call success or this level of success that continues
to grow. It's not that hard. It's just little teeny tiny boring things, consistent action,
boring action taken every single day. Success is not some big sexy thing that you do or some
one big thing that you do each day. It's little teeny tiny, boring, monotonous, consistent action
every single day. It's taken one foot, putting it in front of the other, taking the other foot,
putting in front of the other, taking the other foot, putting in front of the other,
just do something. Anything that's going to get you closer to your destination, your goal,
whatever it is that you have to do. And what I want you to ask yourself next time when you're
like, ah, do I need to do something? Am I kind of just sitting around? Am I, am I acting like I'm,
like I'm moving forward, but really what I'm doing is I'm just being afraid and I'm masking that action. I'm
masking the fear with reading. Am I masking the fear with listening to another episode of a
podcast? Am I masking this fear by, you know, going onto YouTube and watching somebody give
a motivational talk and not taking action? Because here's the game. You can't succeed unless you take action.
So there needs to become a point in your life where you go, you know what?
I got to turn this off. And listen, you won't break my heart just as long as you come back to
me, right? You could turn me off at some point. Just don't forget about me. Don't forget about
me, baby. Just come back to me at some point. You'll be good. We'll all be good.
But you have to do something with your life.
Because if I teach this and you don't do something with it, it's pointless, right?
So take action.
Look down at your foot.
One foot in front of the other.
One foot in front of the other.
You know what you need to do.
Get a pen and paper.
Write down what it is that you need to do.
Get your freaking butt off of that seat and go take action.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
You can't envision the journey.
You can't envision the step.
You got to actually take the step.
So turn me off right now.
Don't listen to me anymore for the rest of the day.
Make sure you turn me on tomorrow.
Don't forget tomorrow's episode, but turn me off for the rest of the day. I'm okay with it. You won't break my heart. Just make sure you come back to me tomorrow and go do something. Take
the stuff that you've learned from me. Take the stuff you've learned from other people and do
something, anything towards your goal. You don't need to crank out all 650 something episodes of mine, 660, whatever it is,
just do something. That's it. So that's what I got for you for today's episode. If you love this
episode, please share it with someone that you know and love. And as I've told you in the past
couple episodes, make sure that you go out and do something for someone else. But when you do
send me an email, rd at rob dial.com, like Rob dial rd at rob dial.com. send me an email, rd at robdial.com, like Rob Dial, rd at robdial.com.
Send me an email and tell me what good you did for someone else.
Even if it's just buying a coffee, the person from you or the person for you behind you
and you know, the line at Starbucks, send me an email.
Let me know what it is because I want to start sharing the good that you guys are doing for
other people to then inspire everybody else to do good
around them as well. So send me an email. And then last but not least, if you're interested in
