What we're going to be diving into today is talking about how the world doesn't need you to change it. And the thing that I want you to realize is that most people don't really realize this. They don't think about this in depth. They try to focus on all of the external world, how they need to change different things, how they need to make sure that everybody else is happy around them. The world doesn't need you to change it. You need to change your own world. So stop trying to be in charge of other people's experiences. It is impossible to be in charge of other people's
Starting point is 00:01:35 experiences. And some people out there, maybe it's you, or maybe it's someone that you know, put all of their worry and all of their effort into thinking about how to help other people's experiences. The chain, the, the, be the change you want to see in the world as stereotypical as it sounds, guys, it is 100% true. You have to change your inner world. And then by doing that, you will inspire people to do the same with their inner world. And that will be what changes. That's what you have to think about. You want to stress yourself out beyond the belief? Try to please everyone. Try to make everyone happy. Try to make sure that everyone is okay. You will never make everyone happy or okay or
Starting point is 00:02:17 pleased. So all you're going to do is stress yourself out trying to do so. People are just in that mindset. Some people that you're going to meet are constantly in that mindset of nothing is okay, everything, they're stressed out. You're never going to be able to change the world. So you have to stop focusing on changing the world and start focusing on changing yourself. Trying to do those things like pleasing everybody and making everyone happy, those are the most surefire way of letting yourself down, stressing yourself out or becoming depressed because you're in control of only your experience. You're not in control of other people's experiences. You can't control what goes on in someone else's head. And some of you guys might be saying, well, at least I can influence. Yes, I can influence what goes on in someone else's head. Yes, by your own actions, maybe. So by pleasing yourself or being happy with yourself, you are then in turn going to
Starting point is 00:03:12 allow others around you to do the same for themselves. So stop being a servant to other people's desires or other people's expectations or other people's wants. Some of you guys have this feeling where you have to make sure everybody around you is good and okay and everything's going great before you can even focus on yourself. And that is one of the most altruistic things you could do. It's amazing to have that mindset, but you have to get away from it because you're not going to please everybody. And if you can't please everybody, but your thought is that you have to please everybody, then you will never please yourself and you will never be truly happy. By being yourself, by improving yourself, by working on yourself, by investing into yourself, you will then make yourself better. You will show up to things better and you will make other people
Starting point is 00:04:00 better and inspire other people to be better by doing so. So stop being a servant to other people's desires or their expectations or what they want. You guys have to realize some of you have been trying to please one person your entire life. It might be your mom. It might be your dad. Some of you have been trying to please one person your entire life and it is causing you so much pain and stress because of it. And if you're not one of these people, some of you probably know somebody who's been trying to please one person your entire life and it is causing you so much pain and stress because of it. And if you're not one of these people, some of you probably know somebody who's been trying to please one person their entire life. How can you help them overcome that? Some of you are miserable because you do everything that you can to please someone else, but you're not in control of other people's experiences. You're not in control of what thoughts go through their head and you never will be. The quicker that you wake up to this fact
Starting point is 00:04:51 and relinquish the chokehold that you've been keeping on yourself by trying to make everyone else happy, the quicker you will finally be happy yourself. Even your kids. If you have kids, quicker you will finally be happy yourself. Even your kids. If you have kids, you can't control their experiences because no matter what you do, you will not be able to control the way they think about or the way they view or store a memory or thought in their head. So you have to learn to give it up. You have to work on yourself and be the best self, the best person that you can be. You work on yourself. you work on making yourself happy, controlling your experience, and that is the only way that you will be able to truly be happy and allow others to be happy as well. I had this huge breakthrough when I was doing a meditation
Starting point is 00:05:38 the other day where it was like, you know, there are no outside experiences that we can control. The only thing that we can control is what's going on inside of us. We can't control the weather. We can't control other people. We can't control other people's experiences. The only thing in this entire world that we can control is ourselves and the way that we relate to things that are going on around us. So for you guys that are out there and you're listening or you're this person, you know
Starting point is 00:06:02 somebody who's this person, maybe have them listen to this episode or have a conversation about it. They need to stop trying to please other people. They need to stop trying to please that one person because sometimes most of the time, it's usually they're trying to please their dad who yelled at them their entire life and they were never good enough for their dad or their mom that thought they were never pretty enough or they weren't smart enough or they weren't good enough. And they're holding onto this fear that they're never going to be smart enough or good enough because of that. So some of you that are trying to please that one person, and you've been trying your whole life, you need to let go and realize that you're never going to be able to control other people's experiences. The only experience in this entire world that you're in control of is your own
Starting point is 00:06:44 experience and what goes on in your head and what goes on inside of your body and how you react to everything that goes on. You cannot control other people's experiences. You cannot control every situation, every detail, but you decide how you choose to view it in your mind and how you decide how you want to deal with it. So relinquish all of those things. Relinquish the chokehold that you've been keeping on yourself by trying to make everyone else happy, and you will finally be happy.
