you never miss another podcast. And just so you know, if you haven't given us a rating
review, I would greatly, greatly appreciate if you go into iTunes or have you listen to
us and give us a rating review. It would help the show a lot. But let's go ahead and dive
into today's episode. Today,
I'm going to be talking about getting rid of your scarcity mindset. Now, here's the thing. You either
have a scarcity mindset or you have an abundance mindset. Either you think that there's not enough
money in the world and you try to hoard all of it, or you think that all of the money is out there
and there's an abundance of it and you just have to go out there and get it. Either you think the
world is for you or you think that the world is against you. And so with the scarcity mindset, I realized when I was younger that I had a scarcity mindset.
It was so hard to get past. And I feel like most people have the scarcity mindset. I feel like a
lot of us are raised with the scarcity mindset from parents who have scarcity mindsets. You know,
if you really think about it, my mom was raised by somebody who went through the depression,
right? So when you go through the
depression, you're going to have a scarcity mindset, like the great depression. So if my
grandfather happened to have it, my grandmother happened to have it, of course, they're probably
going to pass it on to my mom in some sort of way, at least, right? And it's going to be passed on to
me. So it's my job to try to break it. And I'm going to give you one simple strategy to break
your scarcity mindset. Okay. And here's what it is. I've going to give you one simple strategy to break your scarcity mindset.
Okay. And here's what it is. I've used this on myself. I've used it on coaching clients
and it's today within 24 hours of listening to my voice, but preferably within the next
hour, go and do something for somebody else. The one thing that I've realized is that when
your brain is doing something for somebody else, it's getting out of scarcity. And the reason why is because scarcity, when you're in the scarcity
mindset, the only thing that you're focusing on is yourself. Scarcity mindset is a selfish
mindset. So one of the quickest ways to get out of it is to go and do something for somebody else.
Whether that's buy a coffee for the person that's
behind you in Starbucks in the line, or you decide that you want to go ahead and just give $2 to the
person that's homeless on the side of the road. Whatever it is that you need to do, even if you
just open the door for somebody or go out and buy a sandwich and give it out to somebody on the side
of the road, whatever it is, it doesn't matter as long as you do something for somebody else.
And I think the reason why
this works so well is because like I said, number one, when you're in the scarcity mindset,
you're only focusing on yourself. When you're focusing on somebody else, you switch into the
abundance mindset. You start to have gratitude for what you do have because you're able to give
to others. So scarcity is the feeling of not enough. Abundance is the feeling of I have
more than I need. And I think that there is a massive, massive benefit for me, at least this
is something that I did to rewrite my programming of the scarcity of money was that when my brain
sees myself hand a dollar to someone that's on the side of the road, my brain, not, I'm not
talking about like my, my, my conscious mind. I'm talking about like my amygdala, my fear mechanism
inside of my brain. When it sees me give a dollar to somebody else, it goes, hold on, wait, I just
gave a dollar to that guy, but I can, I still have more than I need. I still have enough.
So therefore there must not be scarcity there. That's the power of using this abundance mindset
and giving something away to somebody else. When you have this scarcity mindset, it feels like
there's not enough. There's not enough money. There's not enough time, whatever it is.
And if you're in a scarcity mindset and you're listening to me and you're in Starbucks
drive-thru, go ahead and go up to the person and say, Hey, when you swipe my card, will you also pay for the person behind me? And just don't, you don't have to have any recognition, any of that
stuff, but just drive away. If you want to look in the rear view mirror, see the person's face,
it might make you feel good about what you did. But what I want you to realize is this.
It's not about doing it for someone else and then expecting something. It's not about doing it for
someone else and then talking about it. It's about doing it for someone else for just, well, I guess it could be two reasons. Number
one, for the good of your, you know, from the good of just your own heart for other people.
And number two, if I'm being honest, it's also for the good of you because it's going to get
rid of your scarcity mindset. You're going to look around and go, man, you know what? I do have
more because when you can give to somebody else and still be able to survive and still be
able to provide for yourself, it kind of squashes that scarcity mindset a little bit. So what I want
you to do today is to get rid of the scarcity mindset. Get rid of it. Because the scarcity
mindset, and you're not going to get rid of it today, I realize. What I mean by get rid of it
is start to get rid of it. Go on the path of getting rid of it. You know, go to, go to Wendy's, get 10 hamburgers, go hand them out to people on the
side of the road. It costs you 10 bucks, 12 bucks, whatever it will cost. It's important to do
because number one, you're doing something for someone else. But number two, you're also doing
something for yourself. You're getting rid of the scarcity mindset. And if I'm being honest with you,
the scarcity mindset is one of the things that's destroying the world. It's because we're all so selfish and so focused on ourselves. If we would
just get out of it and realize that there's an abundance of everything, there's an abundance
of land, there's abundance of money, there's abundance of food, there's abundance of love,
there's abundance of happiness, joy, peace for every single person. We just have to stop and
pause and realize it and stop being so selfish ourselves. So the challenge that I have
for you today, and here's the thing, if each one of you listening to my voice were to do something
for someone else today, that means tens of thousands. I won't tell the exact number,
but it's tens of thousands of people. Their lives would be impacted today. And guess what? That's a
ripple effect. You do something for someone else, it puts them in a good mood.
Guess what they want to do?
They want to do something for someone else.
Imagine if tens of thousands of people listening to this podcast right now did one good thing
for someone else.
And then somebody else went and did one good thing for someone else.
It would become hundreds of thousands of people, if not millions of people, just from one podcast episode going out.
And what if you did this every day or every other day? What if you did it twice a day?
Imagine what this world could become if just the people who are part of this podcast,
our community, the Mindset Mentor community, decided to do something for someone else.
So the challenge that I have for you today is this.
Stop focusing on yourself today. Take yourself out of your own head and try to do something good for someone else. And what I want you to do, because I want to start promoting this, start promoting
that we are a community that wants to do good for other people. Send me an email,
rob at robdial.com and just tell me what good deed you did. I have a few emails that have been
sent in and I want to tell you these emails and tell you at the end of each podcast episode,
some of the things that these people are doing so that inspires other people to do more.
Because I think that by hearing what good someone else is doing for someone else,
it makes you go, you know what? Maybe I will do that. Maybe I will go to the store and make a
bunch of peanut butter jelly sandwiches and hand them out, right? That would be amazing if everybody did it.
Millions of lives could be impacted if you, each of you listening to me, don't act like
I'm talking to other people and not just you.
I'm talking to you who's listening to me.
Go out and do something for someone else.
I've said it 660 something times in my podcast at the end.
Make it your mission to make somebody else's day
better. I'm not screwing around when I say that. I mean, go out and make someone else's day better.
It's the change that we need to see in the world. And as Ghani said, be the change that we need to
see in the world. So with that, I'm going to leave you the same way I leave you every single episode.
Like I said, make it your mission to make somebody else's day better. And once you do, send me an email, rob at robdial.com.
If you want to remain anonymous for the amazing deed that you're about to go do for someone,
just let me know.
I don't have to say your name.
But at the end of the podcast episodes, I want to start sharing the good that you guys
are doing because I want to start spreading the love around the world.
I appreciate you and I hope that you have an amazing day.
