Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to the Mindset and Motivation Podcast, one of the top motivational podcasts in the world. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we come out with a short, to the point, no BS episode to help make massive changes in your mind and transform you from who you are now to who you want to be. My name is Rob Dial, and the podcast starts now. Welcome to today's episode. If you have not yet done so, hit that subscribe button so that you never miss another episode. And real quick, if you did not hear my announcement on the last
Starting point is 00:00:45 podcast, I'm giving away a free iPad to one lucky listener. And all you have to do in order to enter yourself into this contest is just simply put up a rating and review on iTunes. So if you just go to iTunes, you hit the rating and review button, you give us however many stars you think that this podcast is worth, I'll let that be up to you. And then just give us an honest review. And I'll be picking a winner within the next couple of weeks. June 10th is the actual date that I'm going to be picking the winner. So as long as you put in your review before June 10th, you, my friend, are entered in. So if you would do us a favor, do that for me, and I would greatly appreciate it. The second thing, which I am actually super, super excited to announce, is I'm going to be doing a 60-day challenge. And over the
Starting point is 00:01:32 course of 60 days, I am actually going to be going through this challenge with you on a Facebook group. And the details have not been finalized. I'm still going over it with my team, my marketing team, with everything. We're getting everything set up. So I'm not sure the exact start date, but for 60 days, we're going to hold each other accountable to completely changing our lives because we get stuck in ruts. I get stuck in ruts sometimes. I get stuck in a comfort zone and I want to break through that comfort zone as well. So I'm going to be putting up daily videos every single day inside of this Facebook group for the people who join in. And we're going to be doing,
Starting point is 00:02:09 it's going to be a six by 60. There's six things you have to do. Number one, you have to work out every single day, every single day for 60 days. Number two, you have to stick to a diet. That's up to you. You choose whatever diet that you want, but you have to stick to it. Third thing, absolutely no alcohol for 60 days. The fourth thing, you have to visualize every single morning, which I'll teach you how to do. The fifth thing you have to do is you have to journal. Don't worry, I'll teach you how to do that as well. And the last thing is you have to take a cold shower every single day as well. Don't worry, I will also teach you how to do that. So obviously, as I said, the details have not been finalized, but if you're interested in joining in on the wait list, if you're sitting out there
Starting point is 00:02:50 and you're like, you know what? I'm stuck. Man, I've been stuck in a rut for a while. I just need something to kick my freaking butt into gear. Then this might be it. You can actually go to www.coachwithrob.com. Is that right? That's not right. www.coachwithrob.com. So you have to make sure the www is in there. So www.coachwithrob.com. You can go ahead and put your information in there. And when we finally announce everything, you will be one of the first people to know you will actually be the first people to know. Um, so you can sign up there for, you know, that you're not signing up for anything except for more information when it comes out. So if you're interested, if you're sitting out there, you know what, I'm ready to fricking push myself. I'm ready to break through wherever I am right now and create the new version of me. Then go to www.coachwithrob.com slash 60 and we will send you the
Starting point is 00:03:46 information when all the information comes out. So let's go ahead and dive into today's episode then. Okay. So today what I'm going to be talking about is positive dissatisfaction. This is something that's pretty much changed my life. And the reason why is because personal growth and success are tricky things, especially for someone like me and someone who might be like you, where you're always trying to grow. You're always trying to get better. You're always trying to constantly make yourself better because you know where you want to be and you're trying to get there, but then you're kind of pissed off or unhappy that
Starting point is 00:04:19 you're not there. And I don't know if you felt this way. I've felt this way for a long, long time and going on vacation was hard for me in the past. Now it's easy for me because of this, this positive dissatisfaction. Because you know where you want to be, you know where you're trying to get, but part of you is pissed off because you're not there. And there's actually a portion of this that you're missing in the equation. I want you to understand this. For me, like I said, I'm super competitive. And while I was living a happy life, everything was good. Part of me was unhappy because I was growing and trying to get
Starting point is 00:04:51 better and trying to get where I wanted to be. But I was still pissed off knowing how far I had to go, how far I had to get, like how far into the future I was thinking and how far away I still was from there. And if I still live by that mindset, I would still be pretty pissed off because my vision for myself, my vision for my life, this is just the stepping stone. This is something that's going to be huge. MWF motivation is probably just a little tiny portion of what's, not probably, it is a little tiny portion of what my life is going to be in all of the lives I'm going to impact. So part of me used to get pissed off because I was like, I'm not there yet. And some of you guys probably feel, actually, I'm pretty sure probably
Starting point is 00:05:34 everybody feels the same. We're just like, I know where I want to be. I know what I want for my life, but I'm not there. What the heck is going on? So if you're listening to this and you felt this same way, you're mad or you're sad or you're pissed off and you know where you want to be, but you still have a lot to go. And once again, I still get there sometimes where I catch myself getting mad that I'm not where I want to be. Here's what you need to do if you're in that situation. What you need to do is you need to be happy with where you are and you need to practice gratitude. You need to do is you need to be happy with where you are and you need to practice gratitude. You need to look around you and be happy where you are. Be grateful for all of the amazing things
Starting point is 00:06:14 that you have. Practice gratitude. I wake up every morning and practice gratitude for the people that are in my life, for owning a house, for the fact that I at least woke up today, fact that it's great weather, the fact that my body works, and all of these different things. There's a lot to be grateful for. You can find the tiniest things in the world to be grateful for. The fact that your children smile, the children are healthy, all of these things. There's tons of stuff to be grateful for, especially when you realize how bad it is in other parts of the world. So you are grateful, you're happy with where you are, but you're not 100% satisfied. That's the key. You need to not look into the future and wish you were there. You need to look at where you are, be happy with where you are, but know that there's still more for you.
Starting point is 00:07:02 Know that you're on the journey to becoming more. And for me, it was hard until I read the book, The One Thing, to take time off. When I was building my businesses, it was hard to take a day off. But they say you have to take time off. You have to schedule time off, the weekends, whatever it is. And you have to take time off. Otherwise, you'll burn yourself out. You won't enjoy it anymore. And you'll be more productive if you take time off. Your brain getting rest will allow you to be more productive. So this positive dissatisfaction, this being grateful but still unsatisfied and wanting more allows you to be happy in the current moment, to show gratitude, but also still want more. And that, so you know, is a creative state. That's a creative state, to show gratitude and to be happy with where you are,
Starting point is 00:07:54 but still want more. That's a creative state. It makes you think because you're not thinking about what you don't have. What you're doing is you're thinking about what you have, but then you're also focusing on what you want in your future. Because at that point, the creative state, you won't be focusing on what you don't have or what you've not accomplished, or you won't be unhappy with all these things. You'll be happy and grateful, but still working for more. Working and thinking of ways to go further, to push past your limits, to get out of your comfort zone, to get you where you want to go. And this has been huge for me in my overall happiness because I was so mad or semi-depressed that I was not where I wanted to be.
Starting point is 00:08:35 And I was not focusing on the amazing life that I had. I was focusing on what I did not have yet. So that's the key. Focus on what you do have and then still want more. I was comparing myself to people who I look up to. The number one way to be miserable in this world is to compare yourself to others. Let me say that again. The number one way to be miserable in this life is to compare yourself with others because you don't know their past. They have not walked the same route that you've gone. So to compare yourself with somebody else is absolutely ridiculous. You will never be them and they will never be you. You have had different paths and there's no reason to compare yourself to them. Here's the deal though. I know
Starting point is 00:09:23 personally that I'll never be where I want to be because I'm constantly going to push myself. Whenever I hit my goal, I always look towards the next goal. That's just my personality. It's just the way that I am. My goals and some of your goals, this might be good for you guys to know. My goals are like the horizon. The closer I get to them, the further they and I'll never I'll never be able to grab the horizon you'll never be able to grab the horizon it's just going to keep going a little bit further a little bit further but what I can do is work towards the horizon but at the same time I can sit back every once in a while I can smile and I can watch the sunset as I continue to keep
Starting point is 00:10:03 trying to get towards that horizon and so that's the tip that I continue to keep trying to get towards that horizon. And so that's the tip that I will give you. Continue to work towards the horizon. But also sit back and smile and look at how beautiful the horizon is and where you are at this current moment is as well. So with that, please do me a favor. Share this with someone that you love. If you've listened to a bunch of episodes, but you've never shared it with somebody, hey, pay it forward.
Starting point is 00:10:26 You're getting free episodes to listen to and to grow and to get better. And I'm gonna leave you the same way I leave you every single episode. Make it your mission to make somebody else's day better. I appreciate you. And I hope that you go out and you have an amazing day. When you go on holiday, there is no finer achievement than doing absolutely nothing.
Starting point is 00:10:57 Nothing on the beach, nothing by the pool, walking kind of nowhere and chatting about nothing. As an Expedia member, you can save up to 30% when you add a hotel to your flight. You can save up to 30% when you add a hotel to your flight. So you can have a bit more money to go out there with great ambition to do absolutely nothing. Expedia. Made to travel.
