miss another episode. And I am going to dive into today something that could completely change your life if you make sure that is a top priority every single day. So this past weekend, I went to a
conference. It was a four-day conference and it had to do with, you know, all online stuff.
And the person who closed out the conference, you're talking about four days of conference,
sitting, all of that stuff. The person who closed out the conference the last four hours
was Tony Robbins. And I'm always blown away by Tony Robbins, what he's a master at.
And a lot of people don't realize that they just think that he's just the psychology or the mindset
of the motivation guy and all those things. But what he is amazing at is creating energy in a specific
environment. And so it's, I literally took notes just on how he created energy in a room, how he
prefaced everything and said, Hey, this is how, you know, this is the importance of it. This is
all of those things. And he talks about your state. And that's what I want to talk about today,
your state that you're in every single day.
Because in all honesty, if you really think about it, the state that you're in can dictate how you feel, how you think, all of those things. So sometimes we start with, all right, well, my
thoughts have to be correct. My thoughts have to be positive. They can't be negative. I need to
concentrate on my thoughts and the environment I'm in and all of these things. But what really matters, whether we do or don't get something done, is the energy that we have to do something.
And some people will listen to this and like, man, I'm just a person that doesn't have a whole lot of energy.
And the question I have for you is, is that the truth or is that just something that you have accepted?
Right?
Your state dictates what you're going to get done.
If you have a ton of energy, and I mean like good energy, you're going to think better,
you're going to get better work done, you're going to operate better, and you're going to
get better results if you really think about it that way. So your state should be one of the most
important things that you think about every single day. So then state should be one of the most important things that you think about
every single day. So then the question comes, when you wake up each day, what is your state?
Right? Are you tired? Are you groggy? Are you moping around the house because you have to
wake up and go to work again? Or because you wish you were rather sleeping? You'd rather be sleeping
and all of those things? Or is your state something that is full of energy, full of positivity, ready to take
on the day? And the interesting thing about this is you create it. It's not just something that
randomly happens. You create this state and you also accept the state that you are in or the state
that you're going to be in. And that's something that you need to think about every single day.
And so you might be listening and say, okay, well then how do I create energy? How do I create my state? Well,
the thing you need to realize is that energy is not a limited thing. Some people say, oh,
I can't wake up and work out in the morning because I'm using my energy. And then throughout
the rest of the day, I'm going to be tired. Your body gets used to this and your body will force
you to create more energy. That's why people who are very fit
usually have a lot more energy than people who are overweight. And it's not because of the fact
that it was naturally that way. And you know, the people who are overweight naturally have less
energy and that's why they're actually overweight. The reason why is because they probably have less
energy throughout the day. Therefore, it gives them less energy to go
into a workout and less energy to fix their state. Because if you really think about it,
if you just pause for a second and think about the people who are the most fit that you know,
think about the type of energy they go into their day with and the energy and the state that they're
in, whatever you see them. Right? Just think about that for a second. Now, I want you to think about the people, the first person that pops up when they're over the first inch. Goodness, I had coffee this morning
and my mouth isn't as working as fast as my brain. Think about the people who are overweight
and what type of energy and what type of state they have every single day.
Usually they move slower. Usually they talk slower. Usually they breathe
shallower, right? And so the first thing you should think about is how can I change my state?
And the easiest way to change your state, I'll give you two ways to completely change your state
in the morning, okay? Well, coffee would be one of them. That wasn't one of the ideas, but coffee
will definitely change your state. Number one is taking a cold shower.
And you might be listening to me like, oh, hell no, I'm not going to be doing that. I'm not going
to take a cold shower. There's amazing benefits to taking a cold shower. It's literally better
than drinking a cup of coffee. Every time I get out of a cold shower, I feel probably the best
that I do of the entire day. It gives you a ton of energy. It has a ton of health benefits. It
burns off fat and it's
not just normal fat. It actually burns off the fat that's hard to get rid of. The difference
between white fat, brown fat, not going to get into it, but it burns off the fat that is the
hardest for you to get rid of. So that's the first benefit of it. And honestly, for some reason,
just makes you feel like you're in a better state. So what I would say is if you really want to,
you can pick one of them. You can pick both of them. What I would do if I were you is wake up
and immediately hop into a cold shower. And you can hop into a normal shower if you'd like.
And then, you know, for 15 seconds, put it on as cold as it'll go, you know, slowly move it over
to cold so your body starts to get used to it. And then progressively try to get longer and longer.
But I promise you this, if you take cold showers, it will completely change your life and change your state throughout the course of the day.
And the next thing is to wake up and do some sort of physical activity. So what I like to do is I
like to wake up and then, you know, I'll chug a glass of water, about 16 ounces of water with
lemon in it, about a quarter of a lemon, sometimes do a half of a lemon. Today was a half a lemon. And then what I do is I put, um, pink Himalayan sea salt in it. You might say, why would
I put salt inside of it? Well, because salt actually makes your blood thicker. So if you
don't have any heart disease or any heart problems, then you should definitely do this. Um, but once
again, consult your physician, I think I should probably say, so I don't get any crazy lawsuits
in the mail. Um, but you should be fine. There should be no problem with putting salt inside of your water.
But what it does is it actually makes your blood thicker, which makes your body
actually take in the water more and makes you more hydrated. So drinking a glass of water with
pink Himalayan sea salt, not table salt, pink Himalayan sea salts will actually be more hydrating
than just a normal
glass of water. So what you do, what I do is I do that and then I'll get some sort of movement.
I'll move my body because my back is always sore when I wake up in the morning. So I move around
a little bit and then do some sort of physical activity, pushups, squats, lunges, whatever it
is. Get your heart racing. And then what you do is what I like to do is I do 30 really big breaths
and then exhale them, but 30 really big breaths. And then on the 30th one, I inhale all of the way
and then push out as many pushups as I possibly can without breathing again.
And this is a Wim Hof technique. You can look them up. I've done an episode on them.
W-I-M space H-O-F. That is his name, Wim Hof. He's got amazing techniques.
But then you go into your day with energy right away.
And then you can have your cup of coffee.
You can have all of these things.
But then you say, well, what about throughout the day when I start to lose energy and I start to,
excuse me, that I start to lose energy and I start to realize that,
you know, I had my lunch and after lunch, I'm really tired.
Well, number one, you shouldn't be tired after lunch.
If you're tired after lunch, that means you're not eating the right thing for lunch. That's the
first thing to think about. I'm not going to go into diet, what you should be eating. I switched
over to completely vegan. The reason why I did was because I have crazy amounts of energy throughout
the day and the amount of energy that I have throughout the day dictates what I get done
throughout my day, how I go into my relationships, how I go into meetings, how I go
into brainstorming sessions, how I go into videos that I record. So my energy is the most important
thing that I can go into each day with as it is with you. So how can you get more energy throughout
the day? You have to think about that. Digestion is the number one energy consuming things that
you can do throughout the entire course of the day. Digestion requires more energy than anything else your body does.
So therefore, if you're eating meat,
especially red meat during the day,
you're going to have that 230 feeling that they talk about.
I never have the 230 feeling.
I have in the past, but I never have the 230 feeling
because of the fact that I'm very diligent
on what I eat for breakfast, what I eat for lunch,
what I eat for dinner,
and making sure that all of those things just play to my energy and how my energy is throughout the course of the day.
I actually schedule out my energy when I schedule out because I know from what time to what time,
from 10 o'clock until 2 o'clock, I have the most amount of energy.
And that's when I need to get my most important things done.
And so I also plan on what I'm going to be eating around that time to make sure that I keep my energy up. Because if I eat something really heavy, it's
going to steal that energy away from me at noon for lunch. And then what is that going to do?
That is going to make me less productive than I could be. So then I think of how I can actually
do stuff or eat stuff that will give me more energy and not steal my energy away from me.
So that's a little side note, but I'm not going to go into diets or anything like that
because that's not what this is all about.
This is about energy.
And so what I want you to think about is this.
You create your body's energy.
If you're at work and you have the 2.30 feeling and you're tired
and it's not going the way that you want it to,
and then somebody comes in, let's say there's, let me make something up.
And then there's an announcement.
It's like announcement, announcement.
Everybody needs to leave the building because there's a bomb threat.
There's a bomb that's inside.
We've got confirmation.
There's a bomb.
You're going to get your butt up so freaking fast and run faster than you ever have in
your entire life.
What happened?
You just created energy when you were so tired with that two 30
feeling, right? It's not true. You create the energy. So if you start to, you know, drag
throughout the course of the day, how can you get more energy? I mean, you could go, if you work
from home, what I like to do is every hour, on the hour, my alarm goes off.
It goes bing, makes a little noise, and that means that I need to go and do 15 push-ups.
You can start at 5. You can start at 10 every single hour.
But if you work for 8 hours and then you just do 10 throughout the course of the workday,
and you do 10, you just did 80 push-ups that day.
Imagine if you just continued to do that.
Imagine if you did it for even longer than the eight hours of chair at work.
But we all know that it's acceptable at some offices.
It's not acceptable at other offices.
But what else can you do?
You can go to the bathroom, go in a bathroom stall or, you know,
lock the bathroom, whatever it is, and say there's just two stalls.
You can lock the door.
If you can't lock the door to get into the two stalls, just sit at the sink, pop out
15, 20 squats.
If somebody walks in, just start washing your hands.
Act like you weren't doing anything so you don't feel all awkward and weird.
And then you just get your energy throughout the day.
Your body will create energy if you force it to create energy just as it will if there's
a bomb threat.
You will get your freaking tail up and run faster than you ever have in your entire life.
Your body is your body. You are in control of the energy. People act like energy is just this thing
that they're lucky if they have. And if they don't, well, poor me, I guess I'm going to be
tired today. No, you should actually plan out your energy. The amount of energy that you have,
excuse me, keep coughing today. The amount of energy that you have is completely up to you.
And the more that you force yourself to have energy, your body will start to get used to.
And over the course of 30 days, you will then have more energy 30 days from today than you do today.
If you force yourself to create more energy because your body will make more energy. It's
like a plastic bag. I always say the more that you pull it,
that it will never go back to the same size, right? So you pull it. And if you stay diligent with this, you'll have more capacity of energy that you can go out into your day with. Energy
is one of the most important, if not the most important thing for you to go into every single
day with and think, what is my state today? What is my state? If you're listening to this and it's
three o'clock at work and you've been tired, you're
like, man, I'm going to put on Rob to get some motivation, right?
That mindset can create energy, sure.
But your energy can also create your mindset.
When you have, you know, low blood sugar or you haven't eaten the things that you want
to, your energy will actually create your mindset a lot of times.
So maybe it's not that you have to
listen to me. Maybe it's that you need to get your freaking butt up and do something in order to
create more energy. So the challenge that I have for you is over the next 10 days, can you set a
timer every single hour and force your body to create energy? Go into your phone and you say,
okay, eight o'clock, 10 o'clock, 11, 12, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 for 12 hours and say, I'm going to do 10 pushups. I'm going to do five pushups. I'm
going to do 10 squats. I'm going to go for a walk, whatever it is to force your body to do something
physical, because the less you do, the less energy you have. The more you do, the more energy you
will have. And the more energy you have, the amount of energy that you have will dictate
how you go into each day. It will dictate your mindset you have will dictate how you go into each day. It
will dictate your mindset. It will dictate what you go into your relationships with, what you go
into your, and we all know sometimes you've walked home, you get home and it's tired. I mean, you're
just done for the day. You're emotionally spent. And then something happens and you just snap on
your spouse. You snap on your happens and you just snap on your spouse
you snap on your kids and you just snap we've all snapped because we have no energy and then we think
back we're like dang i shouldn't have done that that wasn't that wasn't me that did that i did
that that was not how i should have gone into it what dictated that the amount of energy that you
had and you were emotionally spent imagine if you went to every relationship with your your friends
your family your spouse family, your spouse,
your kids, your parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, everybody, co-workers with tons of energy.
Imagine how much better your life would be. So think of your state every single morning. That's
the challenge I have for you. And over the next 10 days, can you do that? Can you push yourself
every single hour to do something physical? Even if you just walk down a flight of stairs and walk
back up while you're at work, you know, you can even do something like that.
Get your heart going just a little bit more than it was. Don't sit in the cubicle all the time.
And then the next thing is I want to challenge you if you can. I mean, you can, everybody can,
but I want to challenge you to, if you accept this challenge to do, wake up in the morning
and go into a cold shower.
And then you could slowly go, you know, 15 seconds your first day,
and then 20 seconds your next day, and make it a little bit longer,
a little bit longer, a little bit longer.
See how it wakes you up, and then do some sort of physical activity really quick,
even if it's just five minutes in the morning.
