it takes to become successful. Now, this is important living in a world where everything
except for success and the body that you want and maybe the relationship that you want,
everything else seems to be pretty close
to immediate gratification.
Like you can get pretty darn close
to getting something immediately right now.
Like if you wanna know any information,
you can Google it,
you can immediately find out that information.
It's amazing.
If you want to get pizza delivered to your house,
you can get pizza in the next 30 minutes.
If you wanna get grocery stores delivered to your house,
most of you guys out there can get Amazon delivered grocery stores to you
within the next couple hours.
It's amazing.
It's a beautiful thing.
There's so much convenience in this world.
But as far as success goes in creating the life that you want,
it doesn't happen right away.
And I think that even though the convenience is a beautiful thing,
the convenience also makes younger generations
feel like because everything else is so immediate
that I should also immediately have success.
I should be able to get exactly what it is that I want
at any time that I want.
And I've been, you know, I started a brand new business
and I haven't made a million dollars
in my first three months.
And so I must, it must be the wrong business.
Let me shut it down.
Let me go for another one.
But the thing about it is I like to tell you a story
that makes a lot more sense about it.
And it's about the Chinese bamboo.
And the Chinese bamboo gives a lesson on patience
and it gives a lesson on success
and it gives a lesson on determination
and sticking the path no matter what.
And so the you know, the
way that it works is you take a plant, you take a seed from Chinese bamboo and you put it in the
ground and you water it as often as you can. You make sure that it gets sunshine. You make sure
that it's in the right soil and you take care of it for an entire year. And guess what? Nothing
happens. For an entire year, nothing happens.
And so you keep watering it. You keep giving it the right soil. You keep making sure that it gets
its sunshine. Year two, guess what happens? Nothing. Doesn't break through the soil. Year three,
you do the exact same thing. Nothing happens. Year four, you do the exact same thing and still nothing happens. Four years of watering,
of sun, of making sure it's in the right soil, and still the seed itself does not turn into
the bamboo. How many people would give up at that point? How many people would be like, I'm done.
I want a freaking bamboo plant five years ago. And then on the fifth year, boom,
it's when it all happens. And it explodes on the fifth year. And Chinese bamboo will grow
80 feet in six weeks. So it had nothing for one, two, three, four years. And then on the fifth
year, when it finally breaks the surface, it will grow 80 feet in six
weeks. It will sometimes grow two feet in one day. Like people say that you can watch Chinese bamboo
literally growing in front of your eyes. Now you might look at that and you're like,
what does that have to do with life? What does that have to do with success?
What does it have to do with it? Is it it have to do with it is it is completely equal to it.
We look at stories of people who founded a startup last year and now it's worth a billion dollars.
And we think that that's how all successful businesses are. We think that that's how
everything is in life. But in reality, the majority of businesses take two, three, four,
five years sometimes just to figure out what is the right market? What is
the right process? What is the right sales process? What is the right delivery for everybody?
Everything takes time whenever you're doing it this way. And so when you look at it, you think,
oh yeah, maybe I should shut my business down because it's not where I want it to be yet.
You've got to think of it the same way that the Chinese bamboo is.
We live in a world where instant gratification exists. Everything is on your phone.
Everything, you know, there used to be a time when I was a kid where if we wanted to watch a movie,
we'd have to go to Blockbuster Video. We'd have to hopefully, we'd have to go in and find the video.
Hopefully that video was not rented out by some other person. And you have to wait for four or
five days for that video to come back in. And then we'd be able to watch the video. Now, Netflix, Amazon, all of those are on my TV.
I can literally watch whatever it is that I want to. Pretty much any movie that's ever been made
within what, the next couple of minutes? We're used to, you know, there was a time
when if you wanted strawberries, you'd have to plant strawberries and make sure that you live in the right part of the world.
Then you'd have to make sure you plant them
in the right time of the year.
And then you have to actually make sure
that the strawberries are starting to grow.
And then one day, months down the road,
you'll have strawberries.
If I want strawberries, I can literally take out my iPhone.
I can go on Amazon Prime
and I can get strawberries delivered
in like the next two hours. We've never had thought to immediately getting it as fast as we have it now. But when
you look at success and when you look at the body that you want, you look at the relationships that
you want, all of those things take time to cultivate. Like you don't expect, like how
ridiculous would it be if you went to the gym one time and then you looked in the mirror
and you're like, oh, still fat. Oh, still don't have any muscle. Or you eat one salad and you're
like, oh, I still haven't lost 20 pounds. Like how ridiculous would it be to eat one salad and then
expect that you would have lost 20 pounds? You'd be like, that person's pretty crazy to think that.
What makes it any different when you're trying to grow a business? What makes it any different when you're trying to be
successful? You know, what if you thought, oh, you know, I'm going to save $20. And then you
look in your bank account an hour later, you're like, oh, still not rich. You know, I'm going to
work for 18 hours today. And then at the end of the day, you're like, oh, I'm still not a millionaire.
You would never expect that those things should happen immediately.
But if you continue to work for what, the next five years, exactly like the Chinese
bamboo, what could be the difference then?
So you look at your, you know, it's a completely different world.
If you look at working out once versus working out consistently for five years, how much
of a difference would your body have if you worked out three to four times a week, every single week for the next five years, how much of a difference would your body have if you worked
out three to four times a week, every single week for the next five years? Your body would be in
completely different shape. Okay. You could eat one salad. Sure. But what if for the next five years,
you made a lifestyle change and almost every meal that you ate was healthy. They gave your food,
they gave your body energy that made you feel good, that wasn't
fattening, wasn't greasy, didn't slow you down, how much different would your body be in that
location? Five years from now, it'd be completely different. You can't save $20 today and think
you're going to be rich, but what if you save $20 every day or every week for the next five years?
day or every week for the next five years. Your bank account, it's in a completely different place.
What about working 12-hour days in your business, trying to grow it instead of just working 12 hours a day? What about working 12 hours Monday through Friday, 60-hour work weeks for the next
five years? Then where will your business be? When it comes to recovery, performance, immunity, and feeling
less stressed, sleep is everything. And I actually found the answer to better sleep in a delicious,
healthy cup of cocoa. And it's the Dream CBD powder from Beam and it's changed the way
that I sleep. With the Dream powder, you're getting more than just quality shut-eye. You're

Hey everybody, if there's one substance that I think has been misunderstood completely because of cigarettes, it's nicotine. Nicotine is actually one of the best nootropics that exists. Your brain
actually has nicotinic receptors so that acetylcholine and nicotine can attach to them.
And if used correctly as an adult, nicotine can help you relax, but also massively focus without
the crash like coffee. A few months ago, I had an episode with neurobiologist Andrew Huberman, and we talked about the benefits
of nicotine if used correctly as an adult.
And I don't use it that often, but when I do, it's for extreme focus to get stuff done
when it needs to get done.
And that's where Lucy comes in.
Lucy's Slim Pouches include both coconut oil and gum base to provide a soft, fluffy texture
that enhances the flavor, but doesn't dry out your mouth.
They come in three different strengths, 4, 8, and 12 milligrams, and three exclusive delicious flavors, spearmint, mango, and cool cider.
So don't compromise when choosing the nicotine products that you want to use.

So that's why I love the story of the Chinese bamboo because all too often,
we think success needs to happen right away when in reality, success takes time.
The Chinese bamboo takes time. It's got to plant its roots deep into the ground so that it can explode 80 feet. Because if it explodes 80 feet and the roots aren't deep,
what's going to happen?
Wind's going to come, it's going to blow right over. One of the reasons why Chinese bamboo is so strong is because it plants its roots really deep before it ever explodes into the ground.
So your success is very similar to that. Sometimes what you're doing is you're putting your roots
deep into the ground before it goes anywhere. It takes five years sometimes. You know, if I look,
if I look back on my podcast, for instance, day one of my podcast, like people look at my podcast,
like, oh my gosh, I wish that I could have a, have a podcast like yours. Well, first off it was,
I'm over a thousand episodes and I started at six, over six years ago now. And so you've got
to realize that where day one, it wasn't the sexiest thing. Day one,
I got 44 downloads. I got 44 downloads and I had three episodes that went up. So what is that?
Probably 11, 12, 13 people, 14, 15 people listen to my podcast. Cool. Most people are like, oh yeah,
but that's not enough. That's not what I want. And then it grew over the next year to about 80 to a hundred thousand dollars a month.
And then it stayed there for three years. I literally did not break through that number
for about three years. And some people, they love the feeling of growth, but then when they see the
plateau, they're like, I got to give up. There's a plateau. It's not, it's not working anymore.
And I kept going and I kept going and I
kept going three years of absolute no growth. And then I don't even know what the hell happened.
It just hit a tipping point. And then it just 10 X in a year. I was like, holy shit, what happened?
I don't even know what happened. It went to, you know, it's crazy because it took four years
to get to 3.5 million downloads
in my podcast.
Four years to get to 3.5 million dollars, 3.5 million downloads in my podcast.
Now it takes less than 30 days to get to 4 million downloads in my podcast.
But it's only because I knew what direction I wanted to go in life.
I knew what I wanted to do and I simply just wouldn't give up on it.
And so I've got a question for you. What in your life is calling for you to have more time put into it,
more intention put into it, and for you to be more committed? Because as long as you just stay
with something and you stay committed to it, eventually it's going to work out. And you know,
income tends to do the same thing as well. It happened for myself. It's happened for many of my friends that I've been on this entrepreneur
journey with where I see them a few years ago, making 40, $50,000 a year, five years ago,
then they're making a hundred thousand dollars a year. And it might, you know, that's good money,
but then they just, they keep trying things and they stay, they stay on the same path in their
business, but then they just try different things in the same business. And eventually something works and they go from making 50,
60, $70,000 in their business to one, $1.5 million in a year that they profit in their business
simply because they figured out what worked. And it took them four or five years of trial and error
to figure out what worked, what didn't work. And they were them four or five years of trial and error to figure out what worked,
what didn't work. And they were basically collecting data of this doesn't work, this does
work. And they took all of the things that worked and they put them into one big bowl and they
made a big Frankenstein of their business and what worked. What would it be like for you if
you decided, you know what, I'm going to do this thing no matter what, and I'm going to spend the next five years on it.
What would that be?
Let's say it's your body.
If you're like, you know what?
My body isn't in the position that I want it to be.
I'm not going to expect it to be perfect.
And this is why I don't like diets is because diets are like a minimum amount of time,
maximum amount of time.
I'm just for three, 30 days, three months, whatever it is.
What if you said,
I'm going to do this for the next five years? How would that change your mindset? How would that change the journey that you feel like you're on versus going, it has to happen right now to,
you know what? I'm going to just allow this to happen. I'm heading in the right direction
and I'm taking the right action. Eventually I'm going to get to where I want to be.
And you go from, you go from losing a little bit
of weight to five years down the road, massive body transformation. What about in your business?
What about if you said, hey, there is nothing else that I'm going to do in the rest of my life,
except for this, which is basically the route that I took. When I decided to open up my coaching
company about six years ago now, I was running an
Amazon business that was doing about a thousand units per month and we were doing well.
But then I asked myself, if I fast forward five years, do I want to be known as the Amazon
guy or do I want to be known as the guy who's coaching people and helping change their lives?
That was a very easy answer for me.
It took coaching.
And I said, okay, then there is no other option in this world.
This is the only thing that I'm going to do and I'm going to succeed at it or I'm going to die at the end of my life and I'm going to have tried to succeed at it.
And when you take that route, it's like the universe kind of comes to your side and starts
to work with you. You know, if I had given up in my business six months into it, there would have
been no success. If I had given up in my podcast six months into it, it wouldn't have worked out
because things take time to figure out.
Things take time to mature. Things take time to grow into what they're going to become.
Now, with that being said, I want you to reflect and think back in your life
and ask yourself this question. In my life, what are some things that I've given up on too early?
Was there a, you know, quote unquote diet that you
tried out for a week and then you didn't see the results that you wanted and then you gave up?
Was there a relationship that you gave up on too early because you weren't willing to put in the
work and you wanted to be a perfect writer right away? Is there a business that you gave up on
because you just wanted to be a millionaire right away? What is it? Ask yourself that question. What did you give up on in your life
that you shouldn't have given up on?
In the middle of the process,
when it was still maturing,
when we're still getting ready
to break through the surface of the soil,
what did you give up on too early?
Because most people,
let me put it this way.
I heard a really good interview years ago
that changed the way that I looked at things. It was an interview with Jared Leto. And Jared Leto, for you guys that don't know, he is an Academy Award winning actor, but he's also won a lot of awards as a musician. He's a lead singer of a band called, I think it's called 30 Seconds to Mars or 30 Seconds from Mars, something like that.
think it's from Mars, something like that. And he's extremely talented and he's very high achieving in two different things. That's really hard for anybody to achieve that. Right. And he, there was
an interview and somebody said, Hey, what do you think the key to your successes? And he said,
the key to my successes that I just start. And that's it. Cause early on in life, I realized
that most people just don't start. And as long as I start, I'm already light years ahead of other
people. And then the other thing that I do is I just don't give up because the people who do finally decide to start
eventually give up. Most of them, 99% of them either don't start or they do start. And after
a while they give up. If I don't give up and I'm just going to be part of that 1%, I'm going to
succeed light years past anybody else that gave up or didn't even start in the first place. And so you've got to ask yourself that question. What did I give up on too early?
And what is it in my life that is calling for me to put more time and energy into? Is it my
business? Is it my relationship? Is it my finances? Is it my body? Like think of it as in a relationship,
for instance. Imagine if you were just like, you married somebody and you were just testing the waters.
I hope this thing works out.
Is a relationship going to work out if you're just hoping that it's going to work out?
And you're like, I hope this doesn't end badly.
I'll give it a little while and see if it works.
Or would it work better if you're like, I'm committed to this person and we're going to
figure out a way to make this work?
Which one do you think is going to yield better results? Yeah, the second one. Simply because you said, you know what,
we're going to make this work no matter what. We're going to figure it out. And when you go
into something with that mindset, you can figure anything out. Everything is figureoutable. I don't
know if I just made that word up, but everything is figureoutable. You can figure out everything,
but you've got to ask yourself, what in your life is calling for more dedication from you? Here's all that you have to realize. It's very simple. Your life requires
three things to be successful. And I said this a few podcast episodes ago. The direction, the action,
and the time. Direction. What direction are you heading in? You've got to figure it out.
What is it that you want to do? You need to be attentional with it. You need to figure out and be very clear on exactly what it
is that you're trying to create in your life. As long as you're heading in that direction,
that's a good thing because you're heading in the right direction. Action, you've got to be able to
take action towards that thing. Whatever the action is to go towards that thing in whatever
direction that is. And third thing you need is you just need time. You just, life needs time to
mature. You need time to mature.
You need time to mature.
And it takes time for things to grow into what they're going to grow to.
So as long as you're heading in the right direction,
as long as you're taking action that is in that direction,
all you have to do is just wait and see.
And eventually, I promise you this,
you're going to create a life that you want to simply because you started,
you didn't give up, you decided to keep trying, you decided to keep trying, and eventually like the Chinese bamboo, one day, boom, everything exploded and your life is in a completely different place. So that's what I got for you for today's
