Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I come out with a short, to-the-point, no-BS podcast designed to transform you from who you are today into who you want to be. There's no fluff here, just life-changing
content. My name is Rob Dial, and the podcast starts now.
Welcome to today's episode. If you have not yet done so, please hit the subscribe button
so that you never miss any more of these episodes.
And today we're going to take a different swing at an episode.
Instead of a motivational episode, I want to do a gratitude episode and to open your eyes to the world that is around us that we don't always see.
Because out of sight usually means out of mind.
And I made a video about this this past week and started a donation page because it really kind of hit home in once I did my research I
realized how bad of I always knew it was a problem in the back of my head but I
didn't realize how big of a problem it actually was and did you know that
there's 36 million people this year that will die from starvation. 36 million. That is one person per second
that will be dying. And one out of every 10 of those will be a child, which means 3.6 million
people, well, 3.6 million children will die this year of starvation. And with this holiday season,
you and I could feed every starving person in the world next
year.
And I'm going to show you how.
Because according to worldhunger.org, there's currently 795 million people, 795 million
people that are suffering from hunger right now.
That's eight tenths of a billion people and 81 million of them are in need of emergency
food assistance. So imagine as you're
going through this holiday season and you're listening to this, that you're not worried about
gifts. You're not worried about how you're going to get through your family holiday party or any
of those types of things, but you're worried about being able to have enough food to keep your
children alive to see next year of 2018. And that's the sad reality for a lot of people.
So how can we come together and try to solve it? What would be the easiest way for us to help as
people, as a team, everybody listening to this, to help end world hunger as much as we can?
Well, the United Nations estimates that it would cost between $30 to $60 billion,
$30 to $60 billion to end world hunger for an entire year.
That means every single person fed for an entire year. The United States alone will spend $600
billion on giving gifts this holiday season. That's 10 times, 10 times the amount, 10 to 20
times actually, the amount needed to end world hunger
for an entire year. So if Americans just take 10% of what they normally spend or what they
normally budget to spend on holiday gifts is they take 10% of that and donate it. If each American
did, we could end world hunger. That means if you spend $500 on gifts each year, that'd be $450
and then you donate $50. If you normally
spend $200 on holiday gifts, could you spend $180 and donate $20? That's just Americans.
Imagine if each normal, you know, first world country where we have extra money to spare,
at least a little bit extra to spare, every single country that was in that situation decided to
donate. We could end world hunger for
years. And so here's the thing. I wanted to make this, and this is not sponsored by any companies.
It's not sponsored by a charity. I did this because of the fact that I looked at numbers.
It was extremely surprised of how much money is spent just on giving gifts and how much money it
would take to end world hunger. And so what I did personally is I said, well, if I'm going to put out a video, I put out a video on Facebook and it's around 100,000 views right now,
I believe. And it deals directly with this because I wanted to get a way for all of us
to share this information, but then all of us to actually donate as well.
And what I thought to myself was, how can I find, why don't I do research? I did research for
about three or four hours and I went on charitynavigator.org where they show you exactly how much money for a charity
is spent in different places, how much goes towards paying their CEOs and all that stuff.
Because there's a lot of charities out there that personally are shady. We've all heard the stories.
And so what happened was I found one that I thought would be best for us to donate to together.
And it's called Action Against Hunger. And for every dollar that we donate until the end of this year, they will match it with $1, which makes every donation go twice as
far. And they estimate that it takes around $45 to save a child's life through their care.
And so what happened was I made a donation page for all of us to come together, my Facebook page,
my Instagram, and then also the same time, my podcast as well for us to all donate together.
And at this point in time, it's over a couple thousand dollars that we've donated so far.
And I want to continue to keep this going. And so if you're out there and you're listening to
this and this hits home and you think, man, I do have a couple extra dollars,
it would be good to donate and try to help somebody. Whether that's $5 or $10 or the $45
that it takes to save a child's life.
Maybe it's a good idea that I donate and actually give back and do something.
And so if you feel like you're out there and you want to put a donation through,
once again, this is not sponsored by this charity.
I found this charity on my own and they don't even know that I'm doing this.
If you go to mwfmotivation.com slash donate,
you can put your donations in there and you can see how much money
we've raised so far as well. So if you are listening to this and you want to donate,
even if it's just a dollar or $2 or $5, go to mwfmotivation.com slash donate. Let's do what
we can to help as many people as possible. My following, we might not be able to end world
hunger, but it's just like the story where there's a child walking down the beach and there's tons of different starfish that are all over the beach.
And, you know, he's throwing them individually. There's thousands and thousands and he's picking
one up and he's throwing into the water. And a guy comes up to him and he says, you know,
you'll never save all of these starfish. You'll never do, you'll never be able to save all of
them. And he throws it in the water and he says, well, I just saved that one, right? It's kind of the same thing. Maybe we can't save everybody, but if we come
together as a team, maybe we can help save some people and do something right in this world.
Because we all agree, there's a lot of good in this world. There's also a lot of bad in this
world, but why don't we team together and try to make it as good as we possibly can?
So this was obviously a different episode, but I wanted to bring your eyes to this because I think
part of being motivated, part of being successful requires humility and it also requires gratitude
because when you know what else is out there that other people are going through, you can look at
your situation, have gratitude, and then work harder to become even better. So if you want to
donate, please do go to mwfmotivation.com slash donate
and put all of your donations in through there.
I appreciate you guys all for listening.
I appreciate you, the ones that are going to be donating.
And I appreciate you guys for listening
for this entire year, the past couple of years.
I love the following that we have.
I love the people that listen to this.
And I love that by putting this episode out
and by putting out a video
that people have been donating thousands of dollars to it.
So I appreciate you all.
Please put a donation if you can.
And I will talk to you guys soon.
Well, that's it for today's podcast.
