And last but not least, if you're sitting out there and you've been listening to the podcast
for a while and you're making small incremental changes, but you feel like it's time for you to actually make real big life changes and you're interested in my group coaching, I have a special trial for you where you can try it out. bobatmwfmotivation.com. And I will give you a little bit more information about it so that
you can finish your year off strong because we're at pretty much the halfway point of the year.
And so if this half of your year, the first half did not go the way that you want,
send me a message and let's try to get the second half. Let's get you caught up on your
resolutions. Let's get you caught up on what you want to do. And let's make the rest of 2017
better than the first half of 17. So here's what I'm going to talk about today.
Today, I'm going to talk about the imposter syndrome.
And I get a lot of emails from people where they say messages on Facebook, all of these
things of, I really want to do this, but I just don't feel like I'm good enough.
I see other people out there who are doing this and they're better than me.
And then I have people doubting me and I have people saying that I can't do it.
So the imposter syndrome is where you get the feeling that what you want to do,
you're not good enough to do at this point.
Or you're not good enough to ever do it, right?
You want to go do something, but you feel like you're not good enough to do it.
And I can only use myself as an example because I felt the imposter syndrome.
I still sometimes feel the imposter syndrome.
But I remember when I was first about
to start this podcast, I almost did not start the podcast. That's crazy for me to think about.
And if you listen to the podcast, you listen to me right now, I almost did not start this podcast
because I was doubting myself so much. I was thinking to myself, that's millions of downloads,
millions of listens that, you know, people's ears that would not have heard this podcast if I would have listened to the tiny voice inside of my head that I had to shut up,
right. You know, I had to shut that voice up at some point and just say, you know what,
I'll just put my whole thing was I didn't believe in myself at the point, but I knew
that the average podcast only had seven episodes. And then the person who hosted it quit or didn't
do it. And I was like, you know what? I'll just make 14 episodes before I release anything. And that'll give me basically my first
month. And I'll just put it out there and see what people think. And then I did everything that I
could to start promoting it. I put it everywhere. It started to take off. But I was thinking to
myself, you know, if people have Tony Robbins out there, if people have Jim Rohn, if people have all
of these great speakers that have been around for so long and Brian Tracy and all of these books and all of the people that they can listen to, why the hell would
they listen to me? Like if I look at Tony Robbins, why the hell would somebody listen to me if they
have Tony Robbins? Like that's what was going on in my head. And I heard something from,
I don't even remember who it was, but it was somebody that was on Facebook and it was a short
video of a guy and he was talking about how you have value to give to the world no matter what it is, no matter how new you are at something.
And so he says, if you look at the person who's like the absolute, you know, zero to 10,
you know, zero knows nothing about that, whatever it is. So for me, it'd be personal growth.
And 10 might be whoever it is. So for me, I was just thinking Tony Robbins, right?
What level are you between zero and 10?
And for me, I was like, you know, maybe I'm a six. I've been doing it for 10 years, but I don't feel like I'm anywhere near the level that I want to be at. I want to continue to grow and get better
throughout my life. And I still have a long time to do so. I've been doing this for 10 years.
Tony Robbins has been doing it for 40. So for me, it was like, why would somebody listen to me
when they have Tony Robbins? And then what happened was he said, what level are you?
And I was thinking, maybe I'm level six, 6.57 if I'm having a really good day of motivational
speaker, of personal growth, of teacher, all of these things.
And what he said was, if you think about it, whatever level you're at.
So I thought I was at a six, let's say.
There's still people that are zero to 5.9 whose lives you could impact.
And that's the mass majority of people in the world. There's not a whole lot of people in the
world that on the personal growth level, if we're just using my case, that's a 7 to a 10. There's
not a lot. There's definitely people out there, but there's not as many. And so he said, think of
all of the millions of lives that you could many. And so he said, think of all of the
millions of lives that you could impact. And because you're listening to that small voice
inside of your head, millions of people's lives could possibly not be impacted, right?
And now that I look back, I can look back and tell you with certainty, don't listen to the
little voice inside of your head because it's just your comfort zone talking. It's your paradigm
trying to talk you into staying inside of your comfort zone is really what it is. I listened to my first episodes and they honestly
were not that good. There was good information, but I didn't have any personality. I didn't sound
like myself at all. And I edited every single one of them. Now I don't even edit my episodes.
I don't edit out coughs and all of those things. So you have to realize whatever it is that that you want to do whether you want to be a coach at something or whether you want
to be a speaker or whether you want to be a even just a great parent or spouse
or whatever it is you know if you look at something you say well I don't I
don't know if I want to be a parent I don't know if I'm good enough to be a
parent for instance right you can always get better the best part about this with
the imposter syndrome is that you can start, if you know, my favorite line is ready, fire, aim, where you fire first
and then figure it out. That's kind of what I did. If you want to do something, if your heart
is pulling you to do something, do it. Don't listen to the little voice inside of your head.
Just freaking do it. Go out there and see what happens. You know, you get ready, you fire,
and then you aim after you fire.
And so if you have a little voice inside of your head that keeps talking down to you,
it keeps telling you not good enough. They keeps telling you why you shouldn't do something,
but your heart is telling you, you should do something. Don't listen to that little voice
inside of your head. Just listen to your heart. Listen to your gut. That is your,
your spiritual compass of where you should go. And your gut will always
tell you where you should go and it's always right. Your head will always try to talk you out
of it. So if you're out there and you're wanting to do something, but you don't feel like you're
good enough at this point, or you don't feel like you have value to give, or you keep talking down
to yourself, that little voice inside of your head keeps saying, you're not enough. You're not
good enough. I almost listened to that little voice inside of my head. I almost listened to that little voice inside of my head. And I wouldn't have this
podcast with millions of downloads. I wouldn't have my Facebook with hundreds of thousands of
people who follow me in videos. And that's not me bragging. That's just saying those are people's
lives that would not have been impacted if I would have just listened to that little voice inside of
my head. So if you have a dream, if you have something that's calling you,
go for it and don't listen to the little voice inside of your head
because the imposter syndrome is absolute BS.
The imposter syndrome is absolute BS.
So with that, I'm going to leave you the same way I leave you every single episode.
