Welcome to today's episode of the Mindset Mentor Podcast. I'm your host, Rob Dial. And
if you have not yet done so, hit that subscribe button so you never miss another podcast episode.
And if you've been listening to us for a while and you've yet to give us a rating review,
please do so. Go on to Apple Podcasts or Spotify, give us a rating review.
The more positive reviews that we get, the more that they actually, those platforms,
Apple and Spotify, show this to people who have never listened to it before and therefore people are able to hear these words and the podcast grows as well. So if you would do that, I would
greatly, greatly appreciate it. Today, I'm going to talk to you about how to visualize and attract
what it is that you want in your life. And I'm going to teach you a three-step process to train your brain
to bring in whatever it is that you want in your life through daily visualization.
Now, let me say this and let me preface this.
I am not the person that thinks that you should just sit there and visualize and meditate
and then just think that everything's going to manifest
and all you have to do is just sit on the couch and wait for your bank account to get full. I am fully 100%
the person that believes that you can attract anything that you want into your life, but you've
got to work your ass off as well. And so I will bring that in from the beginning. I'm not just
like, hey, I can sit here and say, this is what I want and this is what it looks like and I'm
going to visualize it and I'm going to wake up tomorrow and I'm going to be fucking rich. Like, I'm not the person who
thinks that that's the thing. What I will teach you is a three-step process to do every single
morning that is absolutely free that will help you train your brain into bringing in whatever
it is that you want. It is a free tool. It costs you absolutely nothing. And it is so ridiculously simple.
So first off, why do we want to visualize in the first place? One of the reasons why I think
visualization is so important, and I'm just going to be real with you, that I've never heard anyone
else say, is just to simply trick yourself into believing it's possible. So many people that I
talk to want this amazing life, but there's a piece of them
that doesn't believe that it's possible.
And that's actually the piece of them
that's holding them back the most.
They're like, I want this, but I don't know if I can do it.
If we can simply visualize to trick our brain
into thinking that it's actually possible,
that alone makes it worth it.
If we can brainwash ourselves to be more naive
to the fact that we are going to succeed at this, I'm completely cool with it if that's the route that we wanna go with it. If we can brainwash ourselves to be more naive to the fact that we are going to succeed at this,
I'm completely cool with it if that's the route that we want to go with it. And so one of the
reasons why I think it's so important to visualize is to trick your brain into actually believing
it's possible so that you stop holding yourself back by being like, I'd like it, sounds nice,
but I don't think it's possible, right? So that's the first thing. Second thing that I think is important as well is to normalize the feeling. I talk about this,
if you've ever heard me talk about this in the past, over past episodes, a year, two years ago,
it's very important to normalize what it is that you want, to not make it feel like it's out of
reach. Like sometimes if you walk into someone's house and it's a big, beautiful, amazing house, you're like, oh my God,
this thing is amazing. And it's kind of like you're awestruck for a little while.
That feeling is a beautiful feeling to be in, but that feeling is also keeping you from ever
getting that thing. Because when something is, you're awestruck, it is awesome to you.
It feels like it's out of reach. But when something feels
normal, it doesn't feel out of reach. So if you go to someone's house and it's amazing and it's
beautiful, and then you go into it again and you go into it again and again and again and again and
again, you still appreciate it, but it doesn't have that same holy crap feeling as it did the
first time, the 60th time. Well, that's the point of normalizing so that when you think of the life that you want, it doesn't feel like, oh my God, that's so crazy. It's so amazing.
Because then there's a piece of you that's like, yeah, but I don't know if I'll ever get there.
If you have that feeling, the point of it is to normalize it, to make it feel like, you know what,
this feels normal. If you walk in that house over and over and over and over and over again,
it starts to feel normal to you. Even if you're not the owner of the house, it still starts to feel normal to you. How can you visualize a
life that's so amazing that actually it starts to feel normal for you? Where you're like, yeah,
this is what I'm going to get. Some of the times that I've seen the most successful people,
the reason why they're so successful is because they just knew they were going to get it all
along. And I think that there is a, I do honestly think that there is a little bit of naivete that comes with successful people
to be able to think that you can do something you've never done before. But I think that's a
good thing. And so it's to normalize just being like, yeah, this is what I was going to get. This
is what I deserve. This is what I've been visualizing for two years. And so the idea is to
normalize that thing. And the last one, the thing is super
important to visualize is to get excited about it. To be like, hell yeah, this is what my future
looks like. I'm excited to work hard if that's what my future looks like. I remember when I was
first started visualizing was in 2009. I remember visualizing and thinking about what I wanted,
thinking about what I wanted. And I would get done visualizing and be excited to work harder to get into that future, to get excited for it. One of the things
that I've, if you've heard me talk about visualization for a long time, that I love
about visualization is to bring in as many senses as possible. Back in 2017, my number one goal at
the top of my list, and I put it everywhere. I put it all over my house. I put it all over. I
literally saw this everywhere. So I was always constantly thinking about it. My number one goal at the top of my list, and I put it everywhere. I put it all over my house. I put it all over. I literally saw this everywhere. So I was always constantly thinking about it.
My number one goal was to be able to live in Italy for six months. And I put down,
live in Italy, live in Rome by July 1st, 2017. And so what I would do is I would visualize it
every single morning and I would visualize myself being in Rome. And I literally found the
neighborhood that we were going to be in. It's called Tristavery. So we ended up, I ended up looking at the Tristavery roads on Google maps and what it looked like from
the street. Cause you can do street view and walk down the streets and all that stuff.
So I saw it and I started, and then what happened was I started looking at that every single
morning, the Google maps, and then I would visualize it every single morning. And then
I thought to myself, I'm going to visualize it. Instead of just seeing it,
why don't I try to bring as many senses as possible? So I would drink my morning coffee.
I would visualize myself walking to a cafe. And then I would drink my morning coffee
with my visualization, keep my eyes closed the entire time so I could smell the coffee.
I could taste the coffee. I could see the visualization that I was doing. I could also
feel the coffee in my hand. I could feel the warmth of it. I could feel my seat that was in my butt that was in a seat. I was visualizing myself
outside in a seat. And then I put headphones on with the sounds of Rome on YouTube and I started
listening to it. So it was like all five of my senses were fully entrenched into this. And every
single time when I got done with this visualization, I was so damn excited to get there. And so it made me work harder and get rid of my
fears and my limiting beliefs and my excuses. It made me work harder because all I want to do is
figure out a way to get to Rome as soon as possible. So the goal is to be there by July 1st,
2017. I was so excited we had to get there earlier. We got there by June 1st, 2017. And so that's the
reason why visualization is so powerful. If you're not
using visualization all the time to normalize, to trick your brain and to get excited, start doing
it. Okay. Here's the other reason why this is, let me explain to you how it works. Okay. There's a
thing in your brain called the reticular activating system. The reticular activating system is
basically your brain's filter, what it should let through, what it shouldn't. At any moment in time,
your brain could take in about 2 billion bits of information from everything that you can see, taste, smell.
Like if I say, hey, think about your big toe on your left foot. Now you're thinking about it,
but you weren't before. That's how you're, you know, think about your butt on the seat.
Now you're thinking about it. Think about the sound of the air conditioner in the background.
Now you're thinking about it. There's all these things your brain's filtering out until it tells it to stop filtering it
out.
So there's about 2 billion bits of information that your brain could bring in per second,
but it filters everything out except for 200 bits of information.
How does it decide what to let in and what not to let in?
The reticular activating system.
And the more that you start to visualize over and over and
over again, the more it will stop filtering out the things that are the people, places,
opportunities, things that will help you get to wherever it is that you want to go, right?
It's like, you know, if you're walking down the street and you're just kind of in your own zone,
you're walking and then someone says your name, immediately you click out of that that you're in
and you look to see if someone's talking to you. Why? Because your reticular activating system doesn't filter it out. But how many times you
walk by a group of people and they say someone else's name and you don't even hear it, right?
So you've got to think about it that way. And so it allows you to stop filtering out all of
the information and it trains your brain what to look for when you're thinking about it every
morning, every morning, every morning, you will start to notice. That's
why people start thinking all of these synchronicities and things that are attracting
into life. The people, places, opportunities, things, everything to bring in that future that
you're wanting. And so the reticular activating system, the easy way of thinking about it is this.
You ever buy a car and you never see that car before you buy it? And then after you buy it,
you see it everywhere? Yeah, of course. Why? Because of the fact that your reticular
activating system is now thinking about that car. It's not filtering it out anymore.
It's filtering out all the other cars though. I tell this story pretty often, but I had a thing
that kind of blew me away. Even though I knew what the reticular activating system was, I've
been teaching it for years. About a year and a half ago, I was, maybe about two years ago now,
I was at a coffee shop and I saw a guy. And the day before, just to give you an idea, the day
before I'd seen that someone I was in high school with had passed away and I was looking through his
photos and I was seeing like all these old people that actually was in middle school,
that I was friends with them, seeing all these photos and people I haven't seen in years and years and years and years and years. And I was like, man, it's been so long.
So I've seen all these people. Well, the next day I'm at a coffee shop that's right next to my house
at the time. And I noticed this guy walk into the coffee shop and I'm like, holy crap, that's Ryan.
I haven't seen Ryan in like 15 years. And so I see him and I'm like, oh my gosh, that's Ryan.
What's he doing in Austin? I'm from Florida. So he's in Texas. I'm from Florida. And I see him, and I'm like, oh my gosh, that's Ryan. What's he doing in Austin? I'm, you know, from Florida, so he's in Texas. I'm from Florida, and I see him walk in the coffee
shop, and then I see him walk out, and I was like, oh, that's not Ryan, but my brain made me think
that it was, and I was like, why did I think that it was him? I haven't thought about him in years,
so long. The reason why was because the day before, when I was looking at my friend from
middle school who had passed away, I had seen pictures of Ryan.
My brain clicked onto that.
My reticular activating system decided not to filter out that.
And then when I saw someone who resembled him, I immediately thought it was him.
And so that's what your brain is able to do.
And that's why it's so important to be able to use your reticular activating system and
use it correctly through visualization.
You train your brain what to look for.
This is it.

So how do we do this visualization?
Enough of a buildup.
GPS, you're gonna set your GPS every single morning.
What do I mean by setting your GPS?
If you get into your car,
your car is going to look at where you are
and it's gonna look at where you're going and it's going to figure out the route to get there.
So GPS stands for, it's an acronym for you. The first one is goal. What is your goal? What is it
that you want? Are you clear on exactly what it is that you want? Because it's really hard to
visualize something when you don't know what it is that you want, right? It's really hard to
visualize this life if you're not extremely clear. One of the biggest things that holds people back from getting life that they want to
is that they're not extremely clear on exactly what it is that they want. The more clear that
you are, the better you can see it, the better you can visualize, and the more likely you are
to be able to hit that target. It's really hard to hit a target that you can't see.
So have you planned out your life? Have you planned out what you want at the end of this year,
what you want in five years, What you want in five years?
What you want in 10 years?
You know, and it's very simple.
Just put your goals down on paper
and then start to get more and more clear.
There was a study that was done in Harvard
back in the 70s.
They were doing a survey on every person
who was graduating with their MBA in Harvard
back in the 70s.
And they found out, this is what's crazy,
that out of everyone
graduating, only 3% of them, 3% were actually people who wrote down their goals. 10 years later,
they follow up with that graduating class again, and they found out that the 3% that wrote down
their goals were 10 times more successful than the other 97% combined. 3% of people were 10 times more successful than 97% combined. There's a whole
lot of magic that happens when you get extremely clear on what it is that you want and you write
it down with pen and paper. So the first part of visualization is the goal. What is the goal? What
is the thing that you are going to visualize? You have to know what that is or else you're just
going to be sitting there and it's gonna be really hard to visualize when you don't know what it is that you want, okay?
That's the first thing.
That's what the G stands for.
The P stands for the path, the path to get there.
You know, if you're looking at your life right now
and you're fast forwarding five years,
you don't really know every single step of the process.
You're not gonna know every single thing
that you have to do over the next five years
in order to get the life that you want. So it might be a little bit fuzzy. That's okay.
You don't need to see the entire path. You've just got to get an idea of the feeling and
what that path might look like. It's like driving in a car. If I hop in a car tonight and I go to
drive to my friend's house, I can't see his house from my house. The only thing I can see when I'm
driving a car is the next 50 to 100 feet in front of me because that's what the headlights are lighting up. It's
the exact same thing. I don't need to see the entire path to get to his house. The same way,
I don't need to see the entire path to my goal in order to get there. I just have to get,
I have a pretty good idea of exactly where I'm going to be. And so that's the thing is I need
to know the path because I can start to visualize the path as well. And then the last part, that's the P. So we got the G, we got the P, and we got the S.
The S stands for screen. Every morning for 10 minutes, act like you're seeing it on a screen.
Like you're just, it is the most immersive movie you've ever seen in your entire life and immerse
yourself into the visualization. Now, the first time you visualize, I'll be honest with you,
you might not be very good. Most people aren't. But the more that you do it over and over and
over again, the better that you'll become at it. Visualization, even though it's called visualization,
is seeing with your mind's eye. Another important part of it is not just the seeing of it,
but it's also the feeling, training your body of how you would feel. How proud would you feel
for you to be able to accomplish
that thing how how excited would you be to be able to take that trip and run a successful business
from Europe and be able to travel for six months while you're running that business and you're
seeing it the s on the screen but then you're also feeling it as well feeling the feelings of pride
in what you would do and what happens is when you do this every single day for 10 minutes, the people, places, opportunities, and things, you'll
just start to notice all of them that come into your life to help you get closer to your goals.
The brain doesn't know the difference between what's real and what's visualized. It just stores
it all the way as true. And so sometimes just being there and visualizing something and tricking
your brain to believing that it's true and something that can happen allows it to become much easier and
that's about normalizing the one that the life that you have before you actually achieve it
and it makes it feel like it's not out of reach you know how often do you look at an amazing house
and think man i want that but then unconsciously you're like yeah it must be nice i'll probably
never get it right you see an amazing luxury trip someone took on Instagram, but you don't
truly believe that it's possible for you. The law of attraction and the manifestation is about your
brain not filtering out what you need to be able to create the life that you want. Sometimes it's
just, it's not just seeing it, it's feeling it, it's knowing that it's there. It's tricking
yourself into believing it's possible and getting the mind and body both to believe it and to work towards it
and to both work towards that end goal. And what you'll notice is the more that you do this over
and over and over again, the more effortless that it becomes, the more clear that it becomes on what
is it you're working for, and the more you'll start to notice how you get a lot of like coincidences,
you get a lot of synchronicities. And the reason why is start to notice how you get a lot of like coincidences, you get a
lot of synchronicities.
And the reason why is because you're training your brain like a heat seeking missile to
find anything that is going to help you to get to where you're trying to work towards.
So that is how you visualize and attract what it is that you want into your life in a very
simple three-step process that you should do every morning for about 10 minutes.
