emails from me every single Monday with some tips and tricks on how to improve your mindset,
go to mondayemail.com right now. Once again, mondayemail.com right now. It is absolutely
free and I'll start sending you mindset emails every single Monday. Today, I'm going to talk
to you about why you are on this earth. And we're going to talk to you and see if what you're doing
right now is actually what you're supposed to be doing, or if it is actually a complete waste of
your time. And we're going to be talking about money. We're going to be talking about your
dreams. We're going to be talking about your passion. We're going to be talking about your passion. We're going to talk the reason why you're on this earth.
And I do understand that talking about this is a pretty big undertaking, but I just want
to give you some context based off of who I am, where I've been, and the thousands of
people that I've worked with over the years.
But before we start and we talk about you, I just want to tell you this.
For my first 27 years, my life was basically all about how can
I make money? It was. And I was thinking to myself, how can I make money? Because when I was a kid,
I didn't feel like there was a whole lot of safety because we didn't have any money. I didn't feel
secure. And so I thought to myself that I had to go out to this world and actually make myself
feel secure. And I know I'm not alone in this. Many people right now listening to this
or watching this live the exact same way. And what happened was the universe kind of came
and kicked me in the crotch and said, hey, this is the way that it's going to go.
And what happened was I was about 27 years old and I had started this podcast all the way back in 2015.
And in 2015, I had started it.
I worked for a company and I had a high paying sales position.
And what happened was it got to the point where I realized that it for me was either
this podcast and growing a coaching business, or it was going and working
in the corporate world. And I could feel that over years and years and years of the corporate world,
I felt like my soul was slowly deteriorating. Like what I was passionate about was slowly
going from like a scream to a whisper because I had just stopped listening to it for so long.
And it all kind of came to a head in November of 2015 when my company called me up and they
decided that they were just going to get completely rid of their sales department.
And they told me that I could switch to another position or I could just get a severance pay.
And I was sitting there, 27 years old, making over $200,000
a year. And I could go and I could continue down this corporate ladder. And I fast forwarded 10
years in my head. And I thought to myself, if I continue down this corporate ladder,
will I feel like what I'm doing 10 years from now is actually filling my soul or killing my soul. And I had to make a decision.
Either I could go and I could work for this company, I could find another job,
or I could use this as the universe stepping in and saying, hey, try it out. See what you can do.
But what happened was a few months before this whole thing happened,
I had actually bought my first house. And so on top of the fact of I was either losing my job or not losing my job or switching
to a different position or getting another position, whatever it was, I also had these
bills that I knew I had to pay. And for me, this was seven years ago. And I had this little podcast
that I had just started. It was called MWF Motivation at the time. Stood for Monday,
Wednesday, Friday. It was a motivational podcast.
And that was what the name of it was.
Now it's the Mindset Mentor.
I've changed it.
But I was making zero dollars.
Zero.
And I was still putting it out three times a week.
I had no advertisers.
I had no products.
I had no money coming in.
I had no idea how to make money online.
To be fully honest, this is before podcasts blew up. I didn't even know if I could make money off of a podcast, but there was this
feeling that was inside of me that was like, this is what you're supposed to be doing. I can't
explain what it was, but it just felt like it was right. It felt like this was my calling. This was
my passion. This is something that I was here to do. And I didn't know if it was right. It felt like this was my calling. Like this was my passion. Like this is
something that I was here to do. And I didn't know if it was true or not, but there was a part of me
that was like, you can always go back and make more money. You can always go get another job.
But there was a part of me that was like, I have to follow this. And logically it made no sense.
Didn't make any sense. But inside of my soul, it felt like it was right.
I could go get another job where I was making 200 grand a year,
or I could go and pursue this thing that I was making zero dollars. And there was just a few
thousand people that were listening to me at the time, but something felt right. And I decided,
hey, this feels right. I'm going to follow it. Fast forward seven years. It's like, oh my God,
it makes so much sense. But back then, no, it didn't make any sense. My friends thought it was crazy.
My family thought it was crazy. People thought it was crazy to be like, no, I'm going to follow
this podcasting thing. And sometimes following your dreams does not make sense logically.
Actually, a lot of times following your dreams is not the logical choice. I think that's kind
of a test from God or the universe
of like, I'm going to make it feel illogical, but I'm going to put this feeling inside of you,
make you feel like it's right. And most of the time it doesn't logically in the mind makes sense
in the soul and the gut. It makes sense. But in the mind, it doesn't make any sense. You know,
there's a lot of people that are, that are here listening to this podcast that they want to be a
painter, but they don't know how to make money
as a painter. But there's something deep down inside their soul, like this is what I'm supposed
to be doing. There's a lot of people that want to be a musician, but it doesn't make any sense.
They want to be a creator, but it doesn't make any sense. They want to help people by working
with people with horses and to be able to take, you know, disabled people and disabled
children and help them with horses. But they're like, I don't know if I can make any money doing
that. It's just a passion. And what I want to, what I want you to know is this, is the prerequisite
for any sort of success is hard work. And a lot of times hard work requires an obsession.
You can force yourself to work hard. You can, you can force yourself to work hard.
You can.
You can force yourself to work hard.
But eventually you're going to burn out.
But when you are working hard,
doing something that you're literally,
you feel like you're supposed to be doing,
there is no burnout.
That's the difference.
And so success, to get there,
whatever success means to you, the prerequisite to success
is hard work.
You can either force yourself to work hard through hard work and hate yourself and struggle
and all that stuff, or you can find something that you love that doesn't feel like work.
And then you can work really hard at that because you love doing it.
And eventually you'll get to success.
You know, cliches are cliches because they're true. If you find something that you love, you'll never feel
like you're working another day in your life. But let's just take all of that out. Let's take money
out of it completely. What if money were no object? What if money did not exist? If money did not
exist, what would you do? What would you do? And most people are like, oh, well, I'd go travel.
I'd go do this. I'd sit around and play with my kids. Eventually, you would get to a point after years and years,
like if I said, hey, here's $100 million. Go do whatever it is you're going to do. What are you
going to do? You're going to buy some things. You're going to buy some watches and some cars
and some clothes and take some pretty amazing, amazing trips. And you're going to do that for
a couple of years and you're still going to have at least $75 million left over. And they're going to be like, well, none of these things make me
feel like my soul's coming. Buying things does make my soul feel better. Taking trips is amazing,
but eventually you start to be like, ah, I would just like to be home a little bit.
Eventually what's going to happen is all of that excitement is going to kind of die down and you're
going to be like, well, why am I here? What am I supposed to do? And so what I'm trying to get to is that question. Why are you here? What are you supposed
to do? What makes you come alive? Hey, 2020 is here and it's time for you to grow into the best
version of yourself. And one way to do that is through books. Books have always been and will
always be one of the most essential pieces to learning and growing. And that's why I love
Blinkist. Although many books have great content, a lot of them have fluff stories. Stories that are put into a book
to hammer a point home. But if you already understand the point, there's not really much
need for five more stories about that one point. Well, Blinkist, what you get is all of the most
important key ideas and takeaways from the world's top nonfiction bestsellers, all in 15-minute reads
or listens.
You can use these Blinks to get inspiration,
learn more about books you'd like to read,
broaden your knowledge, and get new perspectives.
And they have awesome books like Atomic Habits,
13 Things Mentally Strong People Do,
and The 4-Hour Body.

Today's CFO is critical to the strategy and success of the business.
And in growing companies, there's two kinds of CFOs.
The one who's struggling to keep up
with spreadsheets everywhere, manual processes, errors,
lack of visibility in the numbers,
and it takes weeks to close the books.
The other kind is on top of their game,
automated reports, inventory, e-commerce,
and HR

If money were no object, what would you spend your time doing?
And I understand some of you guys have kids and you have families and you have bills and you're like, yeah, I get it, Rob.
But it's not logical for me to stop working where I'm working because I got to provide for my
family. Yeah, I get it. No shit. But it doesn't mean that you can't, it doesn't mean you have to
leave tomorrow and go do something. But can you come up with some sort of transition plan? Like,
hey, in two years, I'm going to be out of what I'm doing. Now I'm going to be doing this thing.
Can you figure out some sort of way to do it? Most of the time, what happens is people sit
there and they think that their dreams are not logical. And most of the time that they're not, but not logical
doesn't mean impossible. It doesn't mean that you won't get there. And when you start to look at
people who have massive amounts of success or whatever it is that you call success, a lot of
times it comes from passion for something. When you look at the richest people, a lot of times it comes from passion for something. When you look at the richest people,
a lot of times they were never chasing money.
That's one of the biggest cons of the world
is the most successful people in the world
aren't chasing money.
A lot of times they're chasing,
bringing themselves to their full potential.
A lot of times they're looking at a business
and think about bringing the business to full potential.
Do some people get there
because they're greedy and all that stuff?
Sure, of course.
I'm sure there are people that get there because they're greedy,
but the majority of people are not. Majority of people are finding their passion. They're
trying to bring out their best. They find a business and they get so passionate about this
business that they want to grow this business to help other people in the world. Or they see
their business as a vehicle for their own personal development. And so what would you do if money
were no object? Some people say, oh yeah, well, I would love to follow my passion, but it's too late. I got kids. I got kids. I got a family. I've got a mouse to feed.
I've, you know, I've been traveling down this road for 12 years. I can't go ahead and change it now.
You know, and some people listen to me or thinking this and they're, you know, 40 years old and
they think, but I'm too far down the line, Rob. I've been doing this for 12 years. Really? If you live, let's say you lived in 90, you've still got 50 more years. So
you're just going to throw in the towel for the next 50 years because you spent 12 years doing
something. And here's the other thing. Your children will follow in your footsteps in a lot
of different ways. So if they see you working a job
that you hate in order to pay the bills, they will think that that is just something that you do,
that they have to eventually work a job that they hate just to pay the bills. They will do the same
thing. And it's like Alan Watts says, it's all wretch and no vomit. It's like just sitting there
and just wretching and wretching and wretching and no vomit, nothing ever changes. And, it's all retching, no vomit. It's like just sitting there and just retching and retching and retching and no vomit, nothing ever changes. And so it's like, when you see,
when your children see you going out and working a job that you don't enjoy and coming home and
not being as happy as you could and not feeling like your passion, not feel like there's something
amazing that you're doing and spending your time, you know, majority of your waking hours are spent
working and they see, oh, you're just wasting your time there. They're going to think that that is normal. So you might want your children to follow their
passion, but are you giving the best example for them? So you have to think about that. They will
most likely do the same. Even if you don't tell them to, or you don't want them to, they learn
from what they see. But also the same, too, if you're working a job that
you don't enjoy or it's not your full passion, you're not going to come home the best version
of yourself. On the other side of that, if you have something that makes the same amount of money,
maybe even makes a little bit less money, but it lights you up inside and then you come home
and your parents get to see that person, that person's going to show a better, more present parent, more loving parent, more present spouse, all of that stuff. So not only, I get it. I get
it that people want to pay their bills for their children, want to make sure they do. And that's
an important thing, obviously. But really what you have to start thinking about as well is the
example that you're giving towards your children. Now, for those of you guys that are out there that
don't have kids, you don't have near as much of an excuse, right? You don't have near as much
of an excuse as everybody else. But if you are sitting there and you're staying in a professional
prison because you just feel like that's the thing to do, that's not the thing to do. And a lot of
people sit out there and they're like, oh, well, I'm just following this path because this is
secure. Working for somebody
else in most cases is not very secure. Running your own thing is what is secure. You're secure
by running your own thing. I mean, if you look back to 2020 when everything hit with COVID,
how many people lost their jobs? Jobs that they thought were secure. Millions? What was like 30,
jobs that they thought were secure. Millions, what was like 30, 40 million people lost their jobs.
So those people have thought that their job was secure and realized that it wasn't.
So if you're saying, oh, I want to be secure. I want to be secure. I want to be secure.
No, what you need to do is you need to realize like, this is your one life. This is the one that you get. What would you do if money were no object? What is it that makes you feel like
you're alive? Don't stay in a professional prison just because you want to pay the bills. You weren't born just to pay the
bills and die. You spend most of your working hours, most of your waking hours working. Is it
your passion or is it a waste? And I always say this because I think it's important for people
to say, for people to hear. A lot of people listening right now, you don't know what your passion is. That's
okay. But it is not okay to not wake up every single day and be in constant pursuit to find
out what that is. If you're waking up every single day and just going through the motions and going
through the motions and going through the motions, and you're not trying to figure out the thing that
you are passionate about, that is a waste in some sort of way. You need to wake up every single
morning. If you don't know what your passion is, you need to find out. You need to start
putting yourself in a situation you've been in. You need to start hanging out with people that
you've never hung out with. You need to start doing things you've never done before. You need
to start reading books you've never read before. You need to start going to conferences and put
yourself in different circumstances until you find the one thing that feels right. It's okay
if you don't know what you're supposed to be doing. It's okay. No big deal. But it is not okay to not be in constant pursuit for
that. If you're 40 years old right now, and you don't know what you want by the time you're 50,
you probably didn't spend much time thinking about it. All too often, people go through their
lives just letting things happen and just being reactive. Oh, this happens, I'll do this. Oh,
this happens, I'll do this. No, no, no.
You need to be intentional.
You need to be proactive with every single thing that you do.
This is your life.
No one's going to come and save you.
Nobody.
You're not going to wake up tomorrow and someone's going to care about your success
more than you care about your own success.
Right now is the best time for you to wake the fuck up and actually start to take your
life in your own hands because no one's
coming to save you. So when you realize that and you think to yourself, okay, if my life is going
to change, I have to be the person to change it. The next question is, what do I want? If you know
what you want, go for it. Put all of your waking hours outside of work into trying to build that
into something that could be amazing. If you don't know what you want, spend all of your waking hours outside of work into trying to build that into something that could be amazing. If you don't know what you want, spend all of your waking hours outside of work trying to
find out what it is that you're supposed to be doing. Because ultimately, that is the most
important thing, is what you will do in the time that you're here on this planet to leave your mark.
There's a quote that I love and I think about all the time, and it is,
be ashamed to die until you have won some sort of win for mankind. Don't get to your end of your life, 85, 90 years old,
and have not scored some win for mankind. It's not your time to waste. Don't waste it. You'll
get to the end of life one day. It will be here. Don't look back in regret. Look back and be proud
of what you created. So what would you do if money were no object?
