Welcome to the MWF Motivation Podcast, one of the top-rated motivational podcasts in
the world.
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I come out with a short, to-the-point, no-BS podcast
designed to transform you from who you are today into who you want to be.
There's no fluff here, just life-changing content.
My name is Rob Dial, and the podcast starts now.
Welcome to today's episode.
If you have not yet done so, please hit the subscribe button so that you never miss another
episode.
And if you didn't hear the massive announcement in the last episode, for the month of November, I am giving a trial. You can try out my group
coaching, which has over 40 hours of video lessons on how to change your life, how to get motivation,
how to stop procrastinating, how to make more money, attract more money, the psychology behind
it. Basically, what you need to learn, hopefully, to get you to where
you want to be. And you can try it out for seven days for $1. And if you decide to stay, obviously,
it's a massive 30% discount from what the normal price is. I've never offered this before on the
podcast. I've only offered it in super, super special occasions. But because of the fact that I know how important
it is to make December a really good month, obviously you want to get a little bit of a
head start going into December, which is why I'm offering it in November so that you can have the
best 2018 that you possibly can. So if you're interested in the seven-day $1 trial, send me
an email, rob at mwfmotivation.com. I'll send you a
link with a video, explains everything. And if it seems like something that you want to do,
then you can go ahead and try it out for seven days, which is the awesome thing about it. So
send me an email, rob at mwfmotivation.com. All right. What I'm going to talk about today is why you don't have what you want in life.
And I realized this, I saw a study that said that one third of Americans are not happy with their current life.
And that's a crazy statistic because that means over 100 million people in America are not happy with their current life.
So let me ask you this. What do you want?
It's that easy. What do you want in your life? What do you want? You need to figure it out.
You don't need to think about, oh, I think I might want this. No, you need clarity. What do you want?
Figure it out. Now answer that question. Let me ask you the next thing. Why don't you have it?
So let me take a very materialistic stance on this side and just say,
it's easier to do it this way. What do you want? Let's say you want a million dollars.
Why don't you have a million dollars? Well, there could be excuses. You know, I have kids. I can't work as hard as I want to.
My parents didn't love me. I grew up in a foster system. I was once homeless. My brother once beat
me up and told me he didn't love me. There could be tons of different things, excuses that you can
give yourself of why you don't have what you want. One of the main reasons why you don't have what
you want is because you haven't been completely clear of exactly what you want. You can't follow
the train tracks to what you want. If you don't sit down, you're not a hundred percent clear exactly
of what it is that you want. Now, why don't you have it? Why haven't you taken the steps
to go there
and actually to become the person you need to become?
Whatever you want in this world,
somebody has already gone and been in the situation
and gotten to the situation that you want to be into.
So what books have you read
to try to get to that place that you want to get to?
If you haven't read the books,
have you Googled it to try to find out
who might have gone on this path and who you could actually follow? Whether they become your mentor
or not, maybe you just look at them from afar and read their books or watch their videos or
look at them on YouTube or read interviews with them. See, because what happens is this,
whatever you want, you can get. The only thing is you have to actually figure out
what it is. Stop blaming other people for it. Stop making excuses and go on that way to it.
Whatever you want, someone has already gotten. All you have to do is just follow what they've done.
And the reason why in most cases is because most people don't want to do the hard things.
They settle for mediocrity.
They start saying, oh, fine. I guess I'm okay with this. I guess my current life isn't horrible
and I could stay this way and not follow my dreams or do what I want to do.
Stop saying that things are fine. When someone asks you how you're doing, when you're checking
out next time at the grocery store and someone says, how are you? Stop saying, oh, I'm fine. Oh, I'm good.
Because we all know that's the BS thing that everybody tells them. Why not just switch it
up one time and say, they say, how are you? I'm amazing. I'm incredible. This is the best day of
my life. And just see what the reaction is and see if they ask you questions about it.
And start thinking that things are amazing and things are incredible.
Whatever you want, you either have convinced yourself that you're going to get it,
or you've convinced yourself why you're fine not having it.
And there's areas of all of our lives where we've given up,
where we've been okay with just getting by.
We've been okay with being mediocre.
given up, where we've been okay with just getting by. We've been okay with being mediocre.
And the crazy thing is the odds of you being born, scientists figured out because of all of the wars and the natural disasters and dinosaurs and all of the crazy things that have happened in this world,
the actual chances of you being born are one in 400 trillion.
One in 400 trillion.
Just let that sink in for a second.
One in 400 trillion.
So there's that many other chances that you could have not been here,
but you're here for some reason.
Are you wasting it by just being fine, being okay with getting by? When your alarm went off today,
did you hit the snooze button? Did you jump out of bed and say, holy crap, I'm one of 400 trillion
that actually made it. There's so many chances that could have gone wrong for me not to be here.
I'm going to jump out of bed and be so freaking excited. I understand most people don't do that. Most people hit the snooze button.
Why are you not jumping out of bed though? Because jumping out of bed requires the physical force
for you to go, you know what? I'm not going to hit the snooze button because when your alarm
goes off, you have two chances. Number one, you wake up and you take control of your damn life. Or number two, you say, ah, I'm going to put it off for another 15 minutes. And
you can give yourself the excuse of, oh no, but I'm the type of person like I have to have my
alarm go off seven times or two times or three times or one time in order to prep my body to
wake up, which is complete BS. And we all know it. The reason why you didn't get out of bed on the very
first alarm is because number one, you're not excited enough to get up. Or number two, it's
easier not to get up at that point. So what you have to do is you have to have this, when that
physical force comes in and you're like, oh, I really want to sleep in. I really don't want to
get up right now. You have to conquer that, that little physical
force in your head that says, nah, just stay in bed. No, don't worry about it. You have to conquer
that. You have to learn to do what you don't want to do in order to get what you want.
Let me say that again. You have to learn to do what you don't want to do in order to get what
you want. Success doesn't happen by accident.
It has to be actually done. If you're overweight and your goal is to lose weight,
well, then you have to do things you don't want to do in order to lose that weight.
If your goal is to be successful, there's a lot of stuff that you have to do in order to be
successful. If your goal is eating healthy, there's a lot of stuff that you have to say no to in order to just lose that weight and eat the healthy stuff. And see, you have to realize as
a kid, it's easy for us because our parents make us do the stuff that we don't want to do,
like eat healthy or go to bed on time or study or do all of these things that we need to do.
But as we get older, as we get out of the
house, there's usually nobody there to force us to do the stuff that we want to do. So we're like,
well, screw it. Let's just get by. You have to make yourself, you have to be that person that
wakes yourself up, that makes you do the hard things that you want to do. Think of it this way.
I hate doing the dishes. I hate it. I hate doing dishes.
But if I don't do the dishes, they're going to build up. I'm going to get flies in my house.
My house that I just bought is going to smell like crap. There's going to be flies all over.
My girlfriend's going to be pissed. All of these things. You have to realize if I want my house to
be the way I want it to be, I have to do the dishes. I have to clean up after myself.
I have to do these things.
Let me ask you this.
Is your life at this point,
are you not happy with it
because you've been letting the dishes
actually build up?
Have you been not doing the things
that you know you need to do
and that's why your life is where it is
right now? You have to answer that question and figure it out. You have to force yourself to do
the uncomfortable things. Waking yourself up early sucks. I know. I do it. But you know what
sucks more? Not living the life of your dreams. You know what sucks more? Having a mediocre life. You know what
sucks more? Being overweight. All of these things. You have to do the things you don't want to do in
order to get what you want out of your life. If your dreams are being killed, it's usually
because you're killing them. And I'm sorry I have to be so harsh on this, but I just want to talk
to you and have you understand that what you're doing right now, if you're not happy with it, you have to make the changes.
I put up a video on Facebook and if you don't follow us, it's MWF Motivation, no spaces.
You can follow us on Facebook. I've been putting videos up. And the name of the video was,
how much did they pay you to give up on your dreams? And it's from a movie. It's about
a minute long. And it talks about this guy who is getting fired from his position. And the guy
who's firing him says, listen, this might be the best thing that ever happened to you. Because
how much did they pay you to give up on your dreams originally? Because his dreams were
originally to be a cook. And he said $27,000 a year, however long ago that was. So the reason why is because you're sitting there and you go, well,
I can get this $20,000, $40,000, $50,000 a year and be comfortable. And then I can be okay and
I can be fine. Or maybe I should take that job and pursue my dreams at night and do the stuff
that I don't want to do in order to build the life that I do want. So maybe you can leave that job or maybe you can have this extra thing on the
side, this dream that you pursue on the side, which actually lights you up and makes you feel
like a real person and really make you feel like you're one of the 100 or excuse me, one of the
400 trillion that's really taking control of your life and really making something
out of it. We have to push ourselves out of our comfort zones. We have to do the hard things.
So what I want to leave you with is this. The one thing I want you to do. Tomorrow morning,
I want you to set yourself your alarm 30 minutes earlier than you normally do.
30 minutes earlier than you normally do. That's it. And what I want you to do is take
your phone or your alarm, whatever you use that has an alarm, and put that across the room so you
have to physically get your body out of the bed. And when that alarm goes off, you have two options.
Number one, you can get up, you can hit snooze, and you can go back to bed.
Or you can do the thing that you don't want to do in order to have the life that you want
and take that one small step.
It's an extremely small step to wake up, to hit, okay, I'm going to turn my alarm off
and I'm going to get up.
I'm going to get in the shower, drink a cup of coffee and really start my day 30 minutes
early.
So you have the choice.
That's the crazy thing about this life.
You have the choice.
If you feel like your life has been mediocre,
you have the choices where you can change it
right freaking now, tomorrow morning,
and then make it a habit to start waking up earlier.
And I'm not trying to make you wake up early.
I'm trying to make you understand
that if you want to make changes,
all you have to do is just do those things
you don't want to do.
You want to go back to sleep.
I understand it.
I always want to go back to sleep.
I'm not a morning person, but I'm making those small choices to do what I want
to do in order to have the life that I want. And it starts with a small thing. And once you get
that first thing, once you wake up tomorrow and you're like, hey, I actually did it. I did something
I didn't want to do. Hey, what else have I been doing that I, what else have I not been doing
because I didn't want
to do the hard things? So that's what I want to leave you with. I want you to make it your
mission tomorrow. Set your alarm for 30 minutes early. And when it goes off, you have the two
choices. Choose the harder one to turn your alarm off and to get up and to start your day. And then
once you make that a habit, you can start making it a habit to do the really important things in your life and to start doing the other stuff that you don't
want to do. So with that, I'll leave you the same way I leave you every single day. Please make it
your mission to make somebody else's day better. And I hope that you love this episode. And I hope
that you guys do the hard stuff that really changed your life. And I hope that you have an amazing day.
really change your life. And I hope that you have an amazing day.
