Welcome to the Mindset and Motivation Podcast, one of the top motivational podcasts in the
world.
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we come out with a short, to the point, no BS episode
to help make massive changes in your mind and transform you from who you are now to
who you want to be.
My name is Rob Dial, and the podcast starts now.
Welcome to today's episode. If you have not yet done so, hit that subscribe button so that you
never miss another episode. I am giving you a special edition coming to you
live from the Cancun airport. I am waiting for my flight and I thought to myself, you know what,
screw it. Let's just do something different. I've got an idea and I want to just go ahead and give
it to you. I've got a layover and I just wanted to talk to you guys about it. So, you know, if the
audio quality is not as good as normal, I apologize. But hey, life goes on. You can listen to it this way. But, you know, I'm leaving Cancun right now. I was
staying in a place called Mayacoba, Mexico. And I had somebody say something to me that I wanted
to talk about. Okay. You know, I feel that I live a really blessed life
where I'm able to travel a lot.
You guys hear I'm always in different countries
and traveling and doing business,
but also, you know, working while at the same time traveling.
And somebody said to me yesterday,
they said, man, you're so lucky to be able to blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
And I would not use the word luck ever because I don't believe in it for this case.
But I would use the word blessed.
Okay.
The thing that I think that everyone needs to realize is that, and I've said it many times in my podcast, I am nothing special. I'm just a guy
who figured out what he wanted and designed his life around that vision. All I did was I designed
my life around that vision, but then I focused on making myself the best that I could possibly be,
because I know that if I grow into who I need to be, it will make it
easier to then bring that vision into my life. So as I'm sitting in the Cancun airport, coming back
from a meeting and the meeting, which costs way more money than I've ever spent on any meeting,
multiple tens of thousands of dollars to go to a meeting, I only got to this point because I was freaking focused on becoming the best that I
could possibly be for 13 years straight. And then was also working at trying to become the best in
business that I could possibly be. And I had a vision. I had a direction that I was going to.
So if you're out there and you're not where you want to be right now, number one, the first thing to realize is it doesn't happen overnight. This is 13 years
of work to finally get me to where I am right now. So you have to realize with this world that
we live in now of immediate gratification, where if you want something, you could get it really
freaking soon. You have to be okay with eating crap for a little while,
as Gary Vaynerchuk likes to say, eating crap for a little while to get to where you want to be.
But don't eat a bunch of crap and put in the work and put in the work and put in the work
if number one, it's not where you want to be in the long run. Or number two, you don't even know
what your vision is and where you're going towards. So the first step of creating the life that you want
is to figure out what the hell is the life that you want, right? And that's where a lot of people
are not clear. I was extremely clear on the fact that I wanted to build a business where I could
travel the world, impact people, and make a lot of money. And I'm able to now travel the world,
impact millions of people, and make a lot of money. But it able to now travel the world, impact millions of people and make a lot of money.
But it's only because I knew exactly what it was that I was working towards. So there's, you know,
basically three different types of people that are listed in this message. Number one, you know
exactly what you want to do. You're just not doing it at this point. You know, if this is connecting
with you, there could be people that are already doing what you want to do. But if you're not where
you want to be, number one, you know where you want to go,
but you're not there yet. Number two, you have no clue where you want to go. You just know you
don't want to be where you are right now. Or number three, you're a little bit in the middle.
And here's the tip that I'll give you. Get your journal out. Get quiet. Stop looking at your
phone. Stop going on social media. Stop, you know, distracting yourself with TV and get quiet. Stop looking at your phone. Stop going on social media. Stop distracting yourself with TV and get quiet.
Spend an hour, spend two hours in complete silence
with your thoughts, a pen and a paper
and start putting down questions like,
where do I wanna be in 10 years?
The first time I asked myself that question,
and I'm gonna tell you a really crazy story.
The first time I asked myself that question. And I'm going to tell you a really crazy story.
The first time I asked myself that question was in 2007.
I was listening to a talk at a meeting from a guy named Matthew Kelly.
And he said, let's plan out your next 10 years where you want to be and put your goals down.
And I put a whole bunch of goals down.
And this is a crazy story.
And it deals directly with a conversation I had last night.
Different conversation.
And, uh, and I wrote it down and this was in 2007. He said on one side of the paper, put 2007 on the other side of the paper to put 2017. And one of the things that I had written down was that
I wanted a black Rolex Submariner. Like I wanted, you know, to travel the world. I wanted to go this
place, this place, this place. There was a hundred different dreams that I put down, all of these dreams.
And one of them was a black Rolex Submariner.
And normally I don't share this story, but I just want to paint the vision for you guys a little bit.
And I put that book away and I forgot about it.
And I went and bought it.
I've been trying to buy it for years, the black Rolex Submariner, but it's super hard to find.
You can't find it at any Rolex dealership or anything like that. And I'm not telling you guys this story to brag
in any sort of way. I just want to paint a vision of what your life can be when you write down your
dreams. And, and I bought the Rolex. I finally found one. I got a hookup through a friend of a
friend of a friend of a dealership that the day the shipment came in, he called me, we got it
taken care of. And I bought it of December of 2017.
Let's rewind for a second.
I got it December of 2017.
I had written in 2007 that I wanted that watch by the end of 2017, and I got it the last month of 2017.
Now, that's crazy in and of itself, right?
Let me tell you what makes it even crazier as well.
I was sitting next to a guy who was wearing a different Rolex
and I met him at another meeting before and we were talking.
His name's Glenn.
Glenn and I were talking and I was like, oh, do you love watches?
He's like, yeah, I love watches.
I'm like, me too.
We started getting into a conversation about watches
and he's like, I got to tell you a crazy story.
I was at an event and this guy was talking about putting your dreams down on a piece of paper.
And he had us put 100 dreams down.
And I had put this watch down that I wanted.
And I wanted it for the longest time.
And I couldn't find it.
I couldn't find it.
And then I finally bought this watch and told me the whole story of how he got it.
I said, that's a crazy
story. I have pretty much the exact same story. What was the guy's name who was
giving that talk? And he said his name was Matthew Kelly. I was like holy crap.
That exact same thing happened to me from the exact same guy just with a
different watch. And so what I want you to realize is this,
I don't know how the universe works. I'm not smart enough to know. But what I do know is when you get
quiet, you get a pen and paper and you write down with a pen and paper exactly what it is that you
want in your life. Somehow it just starts to work. If you put down your dreams and you put down a
deadline and put that into the universe, it starts to work its magic.
So if you're out there, what I'm telling you is this.
You need to know, number one, what it is that you want.
What the hell do you want from your life?
Because if you never ask for it, you're never going to get it.
It's like getting, it's like people, most people don't know what they want
and they're pissed off that they're not where they want to be, right?
It's like asking your mom, you know, your mom asks you what you want for Christmas and you tell her, I don't know what they want and they're pissed off that they're not where they want to be. It's like your mom asks you what you want for Christmas and you tell her, I don't know.
And then she gives you a gift and you get pissed off at her because she didn't give you the gift that you wanted.
Well, you didn't even tell her what freaking gift do you want.
So you have to think of it that way.
What do you want?
What do you want this universe to give you?
If you don't ask for it, you're not going to get it.
So that's the first thing.
What the hell do you want?
going to get it. So that's the first thing. What the hell do you want? The second thing is who do you need to become in order to get that life? Who do you need to become in order to get
that life? You know, when I originally wrote down that dream, there was no way that I could have
ever bought that watch. There was no way that I could ever afford it. I was not the type of person
that had, I didn't have that much money in my bank account.
But if I would have said, who do I need to be to be able to afford this? Well, then I realized I need to grow into that person. So when someone tells me that I'm lucky, I appreciate it. But I
like to use the word blessed. And the reason why is because I know that I've had this vision for
13 years. I know what I've been working towards and I've been working towards this vision for a
long time, but not only working towards a vision,
working towards becoming the person that I need to be
in order to bring my dreams into reality.
So I want to tell you this.
The world's your oyster.
You can get whatever the hell you want.
You just have to be clear on what it is that you want,
ask the universe for it, put it down on a piece of paper,
figure out who you need to be in order to get it,
and then go out and work towards it.
So that's what I got for you guys today.
Coming live from the Cancun airport.
This is Rob Dial signing out.
I'm just waiting for my plane to come pick me up.
But that was it.
I didn't want to wait to give you guys this message because I was inspired to give it
to you.
It came from the heart because of just a conversation somebody had with me last night.
And then a separate conversation where I realized that this guy and I had seen the same person.
Both put down our dreams on a piece of paper.
And this guy's, you know, I know for a fact he's a multimillionaire.
And I thought to myself, holy crap.
You know, clearly, and he said to me, you know, I don't know the way the universe works.
But I know that when you put it down on a piece of paper, you truly believe it.
You put a deadline to it.
That your dreams do come true. But you do have to put the work. I want you guys to know that when you put it down on a piece of paper, you truly believe it and you put a deadline to it, that your dreams do come true. But you do have to put the work. I want you guys to know that. So
if you liked this episode, once again, I'm sorry about the audio quality. You know,
I just can't stop inspiration and how they come out of me. You know, I won't be recording for
my iPhone next time that you guys hear me. But if you liked this episode, please share it with
someone that you know and love. And I'm going to leave you the same way I leave you every single
episode. Make it your mission. Make somebody else's day better.
Coming to you live from the Cancun Airport right next to the Starbucks
and the guacamole adande.
I don't even know what the hell that says.
Right next to the Wolfgang Puck Marketplace and Guy Fieri's Kitchen and Bar.
This is Rob Dial signing out.
Hope you guys have an amazing day.
And once again, go out and make somebody else's day better.
