Starting point is 00:00:15 Welcome to the mismatch. I'm Chris Vernon. And joining me see us every week from Theringer.com is Dave Jacoby. Jacoby. Verno, we're on Netflix. On Netflix. If you're listening to this on Spotify, I know that you can now watch us,
Starting point is 00:00:28 the most handsome duo in sports media on Netflix in full 4K. Unbelievable. All right, we've got a ton of stuff to get to. We are about a week and a half away from the NBA trade deadline. And so things are going to get picked up in a big, big way in the NBA. We have things that we are going to be keeping our eye on. Ten things we're going to be keeping our eye on in the NBA this week. I will begin.
Starting point is 00:00:58 The first one is the big names that are going to move. All right. So we've got a lot to go through. All right. We've already had Trey Young move. Okay? He has gone to Washington in a meager deal. every day we are inundated with AD, Janice, Morant.
Starting point is 00:01:18 Of those three, would you bank on one being gone, two being gone, or three being gone? Adi staying. Okay. One being gone. And I would put it at 60% it's Morant, 40% it's Yonis. Here's some other ones. Big names. Reeves or LeBron?
Starting point is 00:01:53 Oh, no chance, LeBron. Why? We'll get to LeBron. I mean, does he, does he waives no trade? Some of the things that I'm keeping an eye on. Some of the things that I'm keeping an eye on will involve Mr. James. Reeves would be more likely of those. I do not see that happening.
Starting point is 00:02:10 However, however, welcome to Netflix. Nice day view on Netflix. We can't even get good news. nails. Unbelievable. However, we haven't covered everybody. Lamello's been out there as a rumor. No, no, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:02:28 We're staying. I'm staying on this LeBron and Reeves thing. Just hear me out. Okay. Reeves is 27 and his average like 26 points a game. Okay. I know he's up for a contract. You also know, and I know you think LeBron may just walk away
Starting point is 00:02:44 and go to YouTube golf after this year. But, you know, there's going to be a decision to be made there. You had at the beginning, during the off season, you had his disenchantment with the Lakers, okay? And I just want to win. I want to have a chance to win. You remember the letter that came out and everything like that.
Starting point is 00:03:06 If they are being objective right now, I think he knows he's not winning a title as they are currently constructed. So then you have like all that story come out last week. And I know that everybody just said, you know, make it go away. And we didn't say this. And I don't believe this. And I never said LeBron James was ungrateful for, you know, drafting Brony James and whatever else.
Starting point is 00:03:33 But you do have that whole ownership thing. And then you have this article that came out about it, whatever. I just think if there was ever a time that he would like waive his no trade to go elsewhere, this would be the time. And I do think if the. Lakers are going to take the next step, it's very plausible that the only way that the next step takes place is one or the other. And I think Laker fans generally would all be on the side of if we have to move one of them
Starting point is 00:04:05 to increase our chances to be able to win. This is now a Luka operation and LeBron would be the choice. So I just don't think it's out of the question. I think this is actually the one time he would like waive his no trade if it were a great situation that he could go to that would also improve the Lakers. But who knows, right? It's just something out there because, look, we always look at the, we always look at all these rosters and we say, all right, who's up for a contract after this year?
Starting point is 00:04:34 What is the price to be able to bring those back? As we've talked about a thousand times, the price of the brick has gone up on Austin Reeves exponentially. Oh, yeah. And so let me, a couple things. first of all, I had the Lakers in their future in my rundown later on in the show. So thank you very much for just tearing apart all of our plans. Oh, stop.
Starting point is 00:04:55 For the last 24 hours. But I will adjust and adjust to you because, you know, you're the big boss, Bruno. And I will say this. The Lakers are best served building around Luca Donchage. They are not best served by paying LeBron James $60 million next year or entering in a long term sort of like $40, $50 million per year thing, by long terming like three or four years with Austin Reeves. Austin Reeves and LeBron James are not the type of players that you want to put around Luca
Starting point is 00:05:28 Donchish if you want a successful basketball team. Now the Lakers are in this position because they lucked into Luca Donchich. You know, they got a call in the middle of the night saying, hey, do you want to look at Donchish? They're like, sure. You know, I mean, of course. But long term, I don't think the Lakers will be employing Austin Reeves and LeBron James. So that being said to answer your question, could I see one of the moving? Yes. If I were to
Starting point is 00:05:52 see one of the moving, it would be Austin Reeves because you're better off moving him before the deadline because I think it would be an understandable but ultimately regrettable decision to engage in a sort of longer-term deal with Austin Reeves when you're building around Luke of Dongeage. Nico Harrison has been has been criticized for the past, well-deservedly criticized for the past, well-deservedly criticized for the past 14 months for trading Luca Donchitz. However, he does deserve credit for recognizing the type of player that compliments Luca Donchich well, which is, guess what, a big that can rim run and lob and rim protect because Lucas Man is going to get around him and hopefully someone can clean up the mess behind him. And D3 and D wings. Like we've seen
Starting point is 00:06:40 this blueprint before. And do you know who doesn't rim protect and who's not a 3ndD wing? and LeBron James. No, but he's a dynamic guy with the ball. He also. Reeves. He also straight. Great on the Pelicans or whatever. No, he also stretches the floor.
Starting point is 00:06:57 He gets a chance to be Michael Porter Jr. He also stretches the floor. I mean, look, you just saw, you just saw Luca make the finals with, flanked by Kyrie Irving. That's not exactly some three and D defensive stalwart. Right? Like, I mean, you still have to. have other dynamic playmakers to be able to free him up. And so I don't know, we'll get
Starting point is 00:07:20 to that a little more of that later. We have Michael Porter Jr. We have Jonathan Comingo. We have Camden Thomas. Those are first of all. Cam Thomas and Caminga are so excited to be called big names. Right now they're throwing a parade because Chris Vernon just called him big names. Sabonis, big enough? Sure. Multi-time All-Star. All right. Yes. Now let's get to the smaller names. I am a subscriber to Mark Stein's substack. And like, I've read more about Keon Ellis than I would have ever imagined. Oh, my God. Keon Ellis is going so like, wow.
Starting point is 00:07:58 Nobody's name has gotten bigger than Keon Ellis's name over the course of the last. Trey Young, no bidders. Keon Ellis, 20 teams in the bidding. His name keeps coming up also on lesser names. Yaboselli with the Knicks. Oh, he's not. What happened there? I liked him.
Starting point is 00:08:19 I liked him for his international team. I liked him on the Sixers last year. Like, what's happened? Is there any? He was awesome on the Sixers last year. I think people remember the good games he had for France in Eurobasket. He had a couple stinkers, too. He's kind of up and down.
Starting point is 00:08:35 He's done LeBron. But like Mike Brown is playing 11 guys and all of a sudden, Yabu's getting DMPs. Huck Porty's getting in there. Yab was getting D&Ps. whatever it is, whether it's personality clashes or just fit basketball-wise on the floor, he is not long for the Knicks, but you're not going to get much in return for him. It's not like he's been killing it for the Knicks, and they don't want to pay him, like, in an Austin Reeves situation, it's they're not playing him, so you're not going to get much back
Starting point is 00:09:01 for someone that's getting D&P after D&P. Maybe he's been taking, maybe he's been taking in too many New York bagels, which I can understand, right? When I was there this summer, I mean, I payagles every single boy. I can pay goals, pizza. I mean, there's a lot of good food in New York. And Yabo's not exactly, he's not exactly a skinny mini. No.
Starting point is 00:09:24 Kyle Kuzma has a salary that goes down this year or next year. And it also then comes off the book. So that's one to look at depending on what the bucks are going to do. Here's an interesting one, Tyos Jones, because the magic aren't using him. They're five and a half above the luxury. tax, his contract seven. So that's just, you know, move off of Tyous Jones, you know, to get under the tax. Obviously, you've got the Chris Paul thing where maybe the clippers try to attain something
Starting point is 00:09:57 for him. Colin Sexton has an expiring deal. The Hornets are super fun. And he's been really good coming off of their bench. But I have longed for since that draft, which was the Tray Young draft, I have longed for Colin Sexton to be on a playoff team. That has not been his plight thus far, being in Cleveland, Utah and Charlotte. Finney Smith, another name to watch. He just kind of got back. He hasn't really played himself back yet. Right. I would be hesitant to get off of Finney Smith.
Starting point is 00:10:32 Well, but you're looking at the only contract on that roster. If you're not moving Van Vlead in Houston, he's the only other contract on that roster. He's the only guy that's making more than six million bucks that plays less than 20 minutes. And I know he just got back. But it's interesting when you're looking at and maybe that's the kind of guy you want for playoff basketball. The other one is Matherin, right? I mean, this season from hell, he's had the foot injury.
Starting point is 00:11:00 He's now got the thumb injury. And he didn't get his contract in the all season. He's gotten expiring $9.2 million. And obviously he's going to want a big contract from whoever's next. but keeping an eye on not only the big names, but also the smaller names is the first thing I'm keeping an eye on because we got about a little over a week until this trade deadline. And I do think that this will probably be a pretty active trade deadline that can, especially when the margin is so thin between a lot of these teams, I could very well see a trade being made that shakes things up and changes who we think has a chance at being in conference finals. Yeah, I think that every trade deadline is different.
Starting point is 00:11:46 You know what I mean? Sometimes nothing happens and you think everything's going to happen. Sometimes everything happens and you think nothing's going to happen. They're hard to predict how active they will be. But one of the things that I'm keeping my eye on, this is not my official first keeping my eye on,
Starting point is 00:11:58 but in this trade deadline with these players, is I don't think there's going to be a big name outside of Janus that moves that sort of changes the contention lineup as it's currently constructed. However, like a Keon Ellis or a big, like a sub bonus to the Celtics or like a sub bonus to the raptors or pistons or something would be huge. I think a player you didn't mention who I've got my eye on because Wagner, Mo Wagner came back, is Goga Patazi, Batazi, like he's had a lot of opportunity to play because of the injuries that they've had. And he could be someone that the Celtics could add or the Warriors could add that would be sort of like that Subbonis light. that could just like help shore up your front court rotation.
Starting point is 00:12:43 Jonathan Isaac, another one. I mean, look, we saw this a few years ago with the acquisitions of PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford. Those are not monster names yet did swing things. I will say there is a world where I could see all three of the injured guys, Anthony Davis, Yonis and John Moran, all getting moved. And that this is the most unbelievable trade deadline ever. because all three things.
Starting point is 00:13:11 I just don't know. Who's in the market for Davis? I don't know. Mark Spears was on ESPN and it was like, Janus has played his last game for the buck. That's what he said. Yeah, he's like he's played his last game for the bucks. Mark Spears is more plugged in than. He didn't say this season either.
Starting point is 00:13:24 He wasn't even said this season. Like, oh, we're going to tank. It'll be a gap year. And we'll bring him back next year with some rookies. And maybe we can retinker some things in the margins. Like, you know, he's like last game for the bucks. Well, and it went out. I mean, when we think about the end of it there,
Starting point is 00:13:38 it would be. the crowd booing and him booing back. And then at the end, him talking about how selfish the rest of his team is. Also, well, it would really, this is going actually end on a non-contact cav injury, like his fourth cav injury in the last calendar year or whatever. Like, I don't know, man. It's hard to trade for players that are generally unavailable throughout their career and currently unavailable when you make the deal.
Starting point is 00:14:04 That's hard to do if you're in front office and you're looking at Jamerant, Anthony Davis and Yonis Seneca Knoopo. Yannis is sort of like the most available of those players, but if you look through his playoff history, there are a lot of playoff runs where he misses games or misses games in series that they lose. A lot. First thing you're keeping an eye on.
Starting point is 00:14:24 All right. First thing that I'm keeping an eye on. And I did mention them briefly. And when you do this for a living, sometimes you have to look at yourself in the mirror and be like, man, I was wrong about that. And I'm getting close with this team. What first thing I'm keeping eye on is what exactly is happening in Toronto.
Starting point is 00:14:45 What exactly is happening with this team? Because let me just go like a thousand, a hundred thousand feet right now. We always look at these teams like the Bulls and the Hawks in the Eastern Conference and make fun of them. They're like, oh, they're middle of the pack. Like what are they going to be? 500 every year going to the plane every year. Ha, ha, ha, ha. Heat, Hawks, Bulls, in the plan every year.
Starting point is 00:15:08 like they don't tank, they don't get high draft picks, but they never contend. They're never at the top. And the rafters this season thus far have made a leap from that middle of the pack to the top of the pack. They're currently in third above the Knicks. They're currently fifth in defensive rating.
Starting point is 00:15:24 And Scotty Barnes, who I have doubted and said very negative things about into this very microphone in front of me. I don't regret those things. I felt them at the time. However, I was wrong about those things. And he's having a hell of a year, especially defensively and offensively
Starting point is 00:15:36 and just guard anybody, get you buckets down the stretch, he's had a great season. RJ Barrett has been like oddly important to them. They're 18 and 7 with RJ Barrett and they're 11 and 12 without him. And as someone who watched a lot of RJ Barrett with the Knicks,
Starting point is 00:15:51 this was not a, if we don't have him, what are we going to do type of player? But he's been excellent this season when he's been available. The last like two weeks, Emmanuel quickly's been playing out of his head. And I'm look at this team and I'm just like,
Starting point is 00:16:04 they're not middle of the pack, but are they like could they be and you've asked me this question before and I've never brought up this team and I'm asking it to you now because I'm keeping my eye on them could they be this year's paces a team around this type of the year you had no no inkling that they were contending for a title but perhaps they have an offensive philosophy and a defensive philosophy that works they have cohesion. They have depth. They have a bunch of guys. They're willing to do whatever and know their role. They've got a new coach who's injected life into the team. Like this could be this year's Pacers. And I had this team like in the plan or missing the plan at the beginning of the season.
Starting point is 00:16:51 They have been extremely impressive. They've been hot of late. They beat OKC in OKC. They could add a sub bonus, like a big. Like I would say Yacob Pertil is sort of like their biggest, um, I wouldn't say weak spot, but their biggest opportunity for improvement in their rotation. And I think if they add a big, like they could make some noise in the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. What do you think about the record? I think there's a couple things going on here. At the very beginning of the season, we, I remember on the show played that video of Darko
Starting point is 00:17:24 running into the, running into the locker room. And he was giving away the chain, you know, for the game. And we were like, man, the vibes are good here. And then we were doing the whole notorious BI 3 and like all. Like it just seemed like they were having game winners and their locker room look great. And you watch those guys interact and you watch. I think number one, you've got unbelievable chemistry within that team. Number two, and I think this is instructive in thinking about NBA teams.
Starting point is 00:17:57 And when we sometimes when we wonder like, why is this working so well, you have a lot of like second chance guys that are there. And I do think that once you get moved, once you get traded, that as time goes on, and part of that is why so many guys really find their footing at 27, 28, 29 is because in many cases they've played with different rosters, but they've also played in different organizations for different coaches and different teams. they figured out how to be the best version of themselves because they have gone elsewhere.
Starting point is 00:18:38 And so Emmanuel quickly has been moved. And R.J. Barrett has been moved. And Brandon Ingram has been moved. And Yacoborto has been, like all of these guys. And you start to figure out the best version of yourself with the more, right? And you figure out what's my lane within the NBA? And I do think that when you come in and you've got a bunch of different situations, in many cases, you've got different coaches playing for different teams,
Starting point is 00:19:07 wearing different jerseys, that now you have a lot of like guys that you have a chip on your shoulder for some reason, but also you figure out how to meld in to a team concept. And I think that is like a story of the Raptors. And I think like all these guys have figured out how to be the best team basketball versions of themselves. Darko gets big credit for that, but also the players get big credit for that, right? I think, Mama is worth mentioning. Yeah, it's part of maturing in the NBA. And not only does it help those players, it helps the sheds, Jacoby Walker's, Grady Dicks to sort of have that voice in the locker room, people that have been there, done that, been in different systems, been in
Starting point is 00:19:52 different franchises, different coaches, that just sort of have that experience that can help the growth of the young players too. And like, I don't think the Raptors are going to compete for a championship. But like, if you were to, if I were to go back three weeks in time when you ask me the question, who could be this year's basers, I would say the Raptors. Now, they're not coming from below 500 leapfrogging everybody, making this great playoff run. They are currently number three, but in terms of preseason expectations to where they are now, the Raptors have had a hell of a season. And I'm keeping my eye on them, not just at the trade deadline, but in the playoffs and throughout the rest of the season. I agree. Great vibes.
Starting point is 00:20:25 Great home court advantage. And they're going to be a bitch to play when it comes to the playoffs. They got a bunch of athletes and they got multiple guys that can give you 20 on any given night, right? So that's what you always look for, right? Like the one night you look and it's like, geez, man, like that's what happened with the Pacers too, right?
Starting point is 00:20:43 You're looking up and it's like, Jesus, Aaron Neesmith, that's what it'll be like with like, you'll be like, oh my God, we did a good job on Barnes and Jamal Shed has 25. He's like, what? Well, we did a good job on Barnes and we did a good job on Ingram, but they've got Barrett.
Starting point is 00:20:59 or we did a good job on those three and they got quickly. Like they got, when you got multiple guys that can give you buckets, it's a hard guard and it's a lot harder to just take something away when it comes to the playoffs. And so you might be right. You might be right. It's certainly something to keep an eye on.
Starting point is 00:21:15 Number two on mine, is there a fifth team in the West? All right, so you've got to hear me out on this. I talked about this and you talked, you mentioned, I believe it was last weekend when we had this. epic Minnesota San Antonio game, Aunt versus Whempey. And I said, man, you think about those two,
Starting point is 00:21:38 and then you think about Oklahoma City and you think about Denver. Like it's those four to me. And I know if you look at the standings right now, Minnesota's in sixth. But I look at it and go, there's Oklahoma City, San Antonio, Denver, Minnesota. I put them ahead of, like,
Starting point is 00:21:56 they're in a class to me, right? So who is the one that could, and all of them, like I'm saying that like, not only could get to a West finals, but if I could foresee them being the representative, okay? And to me, Minnesota gets a benefit of the doubt because of their track record in the playoffs recently. Oklahoma City, San Antonio, Denver, and Minnesota, okay? So then you have the other ones. You have Houston. Hold on.
Starting point is 00:22:27 Houston, L.A. Okay, those are the two. And I think the trade deadline, which we covered in number one, is going to determine this. Houston needs a guard, which very well made, they might be able to find a guard, but Houston needs a guard for me to believe that they can do it. And L.A. needs multiple role-playing defenders. And I don't know, but I do think that those two teams, I do not think could do it without a deal next week.
Starting point is 00:23:00 The other four I put in a class above them. And then you get to the Phoenix Golden State, Portland, Clippers. And again, like, again, we're talking about, do I think there's anybody besides those four that could represent the Western Conference in the finals? And the other two I'd give a crack at it are Houston and L.A., but it is dependent upon the outcome of next week and the trade deadline. Agree? No.
Starting point is 00:23:36 Oh. So I have something similar for my next one. So I'll put a pin in that for a second. I think you're being a little, you're going, you're sort of fast-forwarding a little too fast by leapfrogging the Timberwolves into that top four, just cemented. them in the team that's been in the Western
Starting point is 00:23:59 Conference Finals twice. Come on. Come on. Okay. They're currently sixth. One and a half game behind the Rockets. Okay. That can happen in two days. Okay. So when you talk about the team that you can see
Starting point is 00:24:16 representing the Western Conference in the finals, right? Yes. Let's just say the standing stay the way they are. All right. That puts the Tamper Wolves against the nuggets in the first round. Who they've beaten? Who they've beaten?
Starting point is 00:24:32 That's going to be a tough out. Spurs in the second round. Okay. That's going to be a tough out. Understood. And then potentially the thunder in the conference finals. You do not believe in the Lakers or Houston more in playoff basketball than you do Minnesota.
Starting point is 00:24:47 Come on. I believe that being in the top four is so important for your playoff seating and having home court advantage in those series, that I think that will swing whether or not I can see one of these teams in the NBA finals. You see what I'm saying? So the regular season seating is going to be so important that will change my mind about how far they can go in the playoffs. But hold on now.
Starting point is 00:25:13 If you're in five through eight, your road to the finals is so much harder. Is it? Is it? Because the first round, you're playing one of the top four. That's fine. but who would you rather play? Would you rather play Oklahoma City or San Antonio in the second round? Because if you're four, you're playing Oklahoma City in the second round.
Starting point is 00:25:32 And you would much rather play San Antonio, much rather. You know that. I think you're going to have to be the finals. If you're going to the finals, you have to beat the Thunder. So whether you play them in the second round to the conference finals, whatever. You might not. That's fair. That's fair.
Starting point is 00:25:49 You want to avoid him as much as possible. Yeah. So I'd say whoever gets that four seat, if it is, whoever gets that four seat is the team that I would answer this question. I mean, you just said they'd draw Oklahoma City in the second round. There's no easy path out of the Western Conference. It's not like you're going to catch a break if you play the nuggets and the skirts. I'm saying I'd rather meet the thunder in the West finals.
Starting point is 00:26:13 I don't want to meet them before then. I think the rockets have not looked great over the past couple weeks, but I think just leapfrogging the Timberwolves above the Rockets is a bit presumptive. Don't you agree with that? A bit presumptive? No, I just think they need a guard. If they get one, I'll change my opinion. Again, that's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:26:31 What about the aforementioned Ties Jones? I mean, he's not exactly the defensive stalwart that he may as Okah loves, but he is a great set the table guard. Like if you're just looking for somebody to set the table, I just don't know how much he may would play him because of the defensive liability. Are you better off with him or Reed Shepherd? Couldn't you convince yourself that Reed Shepherd has played his way into a point we know we're no longer so concerned about this point car position for ruggins?
Starting point is 00:26:59 I just don't trust it when it comes to the playoffs. I think they are going to put, and again, I don't know. Every action. And that's what they would do with Ty us too. You know what I mean? Again, if they can find one, you know who they need, Fred Van Vleet? Fred Van Vleet would be great for them. He would be amazing for them.
Starting point is 00:27:19 Is he coming back? He's trying to. There's rumors and stuff that he's doing things. Everyone's so focused on Jason Tatum. coming back. No, which is to make a difference. So I'm going to,
Starting point is 00:27:30 I'm going to keep it, I'm going to keep it right where we are. Because here's one thing in the Western Conference that I've been keeping an eye on because like you, um, you've got Thunder Spurs Nuggets in the top three, right? Then the next group you've got four, five, six,
Starting point is 00:27:42 which is Rockets, Lakers, Timberwolves. I don't think, I don't really believe in the Lakers defense, whatever. We'll see who does what at the trade deadline that changes that. But it's sort of like one of these teams, like of these teams,
Starting point is 00:27:55 they're currently five through 10. You've got the Lakers, wolves a game behind them, sons a half game behind the wolves, Warriors, two back of the suns, blazers and clippers. Now, the clippers are hot, right? We've covered that. Of those teams, one is not going to be in the plane, which I find pretty fascinating.
Starting point is 00:28:21 So in the plane, you're going to have the wolves or the Lakers or the clippers. Oh, I mean, the clippers are the easy answer. I mean, they're, I know, but they're currently six games out of it. But at the pace they're winning at. Yeah, I know, but they're also, you know, they're a,
Starting point is 00:28:42 they're a six game absence from a big contributor away from that change too dramatically, right? Like, they, they, they gave themselves a really tough go by losing as many games as they did early in the season. But they're very dangerous. I mean, of those teams that you just mentioned,
Starting point is 00:29:02 the scariest guy is Kauai. He's the scariest guy representing any of those teams because it's too much on Curry right now in the absence of Jimmy Butler. Again, dependent upon what happens next week. But Kauai Leonard is the player I fear the most. Denny Obdea is having a great season, but I mean, he's not, I don't feel.
Starting point is 00:29:26 him like I do. Not Quai. Right. Like, again, Kauai is the, he's the one that if you go into a playoff series, like you could see him being the best player in a playoff series and just destroying you.
Starting point is 00:29:40 And so he's the, he's the one I'd be most scared of. Absolutely. But I do think that they're, you know, it's going to be hard to, they just, they lost so many games early.
Starting point is 00:29:54 You know, they're 15 and 3 and look at their record now. I mean, they've looked 15 and 3 in their last 18 games. If there was currently a play in tournament that consisted of in any order, the Suns, Warriors, Blazers, Clippers, it's Clippers and everybody else, if you ask me. I agree. Assuming their health. I mean, we have to assume health on all of this.
Starting point is 00:30:17 Yes. And then you could get the Clippers. Do you get a nice Clippers Nuggets first round series, which I would love to see. I would absolutely love to see. next thing I'm keeping an eye on, are there any more coaching changes on the way this year? All right. So we had Willie Green, but that was so long ago, people have already forgotten it. Willie Green was, they started two and ten in New Orleans and they ran out Willie Green.
Starting point is 00:30:43 Well, they also had former Hornets head coach James Perego just sitting there. You know what I mean? So last year, we got through the trade deadline almost to the, playoffs and Taylor Jenkins got fired and Michael Malone got fired and so now you're taking a look at this and then in the offseason obviously Tibbs lost his job and Booneholzer lost his job in Phoenix okay I tried to scan down and you know the rat teams are the rat teams and so they're probably not getting rid of their coach in Washington if Doug Christie was going to get fired he should gotten fired, you know, months ago.
Starting point is 00:31:27 I think Will Hardy's extended through 2035 at this point. I mean, this is all lies on Mosley in Orlando. They went big. They went big in Orlando with the, when you trade four first round picks and you trade Caldwell Pope and, you know, you make that Bain deal and you go in and now we're talking about how they're, you know, Tyos Jones very well may be a casualty so they can get under the luxury tax number. They're,
Starting point is 00:32:00 they're disappointing so far this year. And Orlando fans wouldn't cry one tier if this happens. Like it's just, it's something to keep an eye on another rough one yesterday where, you know, Paulo goes really big, but Don goes huge for Cleveland. And it's like,
Starting point is 00:32:20 you're like hovering around 500 in a team that was supposed to take the next big step. And I know they've had the injuries this year, but the vibes, you know, we were talking earlier about Toronto and how great the vibes are. The vibes are not good in Orlando. It's not good. I know they're without Suggs. It's crazy. If I were Orlando and I'm moving off of Moseley,
Starting point is 00:32:48 and I say this as someone who... Oh, God. I don't know what you're going to say right now. I know that, like, Michael Malone's, like, up for, like, every job. That's not the... That's not what they need. I would hire Jenkins. I knew you were going to say that.
Starting point is 00:33:04 I would. I knew you were going to say that. And you know, Bain swears by him. Like, absolutely. So you immediately have one of your best players on your team, like, 100% on your side. And he is a... great vibes guy.
Starting point is 00:33:20 For a young team, I think he would be, I think, I think you could see a real change in them. I do. I think you could, and, and I know that one of their best players
Starting point is 00:33:32 swears by the guy, so that's great for the locker room. But he's one of those guys that like, pulls the team together to go play kickball. And like, every player loves him immediately. Like, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:33:45 And like, I was around this guy for a long time. and like those players swore by him. Everything runs its course and he was around for six years. And so everything does run its course. But I do think he could have a profound impact on that team. I watch that team and I go, boy, if they brought Taylor Jenkins in, they could they could figure some things out pretty quickly.
Starting point is 00:34:06 I think that would be a really good deal for them if they are going to move off of Mosley. But Mosley's like the only one. I looked up and down like throughout the 30 teams in the NBA. I disagree. I disagree. Who's the other one? Your guy? No, no.
Starting point is 00:34:22 I thought you talked about Mike Brown. I'm starting to get an inclination that Chauncey Billups might not keep his job in Portland. Just just, I'm not reporting this. Oh, good. You know what I mean? Like, I haven't sourced this yet, but I'm starting to get the feeling just based on watching some of their games that perhaps Chauncy Billups might not return as the head coach of the Blazers. Just throwing that out. I know they've got Splitter in there as the interim head coach.
Starting point is 00:34:48 Maybe not. What about your guy, uh, Tuomas? He's sticking around? No, they just hired him this past off season. And ask,
Starting point is 00:34:56 as Phoenix how that works. Please. They do that every year. I mean, at this, at this point, though, I think everybody's understanding,
Starting point is 00:35:03 like the Grizzers are going to be a lottery team. And so now it's a different job. Now it's a different job. I couldn't help to notice. They, uh, we're playing labs with no starters yesterday. Oh,
Starting point is 00:35:15 he does that all the time. A little weird. Didn't love it. Oh, they do it in Finland. I had trouble. I had trouble watching that game. I had trouble because I love you and I'm trying to,
Starting point is 00:35:25 trying to be a good co-host. I'm watching the Grizzlies. You don't have to do that. I'm like four minutes into the experience and just like, screw this. Yeah, you don't have to do it. I'm not making you do that. I wouldn't. There's the case.
Starting point is 00:35:39 Santi Aldama threw it off the back of Alpern-Sengoon and then tried to take a fadeaway three-pointer. He picked up his dribble and couldn't, didn't have any outlets to pass to because none of his teammates were helping him. He threw it off Sengoon's back and then try to take a fadeaway three-pointer. I'm not holding it against you if you don't watch. I mean, oh, God. All right.
Starting point is 00:36:04 Here's next thing I care about. I mean, this is exciting. Okay. Rookie of the year is never really that close. Like, think about MVP over the years. Like, it's usually kind of decided, like, around March. Well, we had the big,
Starting point is 00:36:26 I know what's going to be. The last big one that I remember like, Embed and Yokic. No, no, no, no, no. No. Taking sides on, rookie of the year. The last one I remember was the,
Starting point is 00:36:38 the Donovan Mitchell one. And he was like wearing the shirt and whatever. Wasn't it, Donovan Mitchell and Ben Simmons, I think? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, well, Ben Simmons eligibility was called into question. Right.
Starting point is 00:36:51 And then there was also this whole like, Malcolm Brogden year where it was like, well, that was the NBA one. Anybody want to be rookie of the year? Yeah. No, yeah, that was. But he only played like four games the entire season. They're like, we can't give it to a guy that average eight points. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But it was like, that one was weird. But like, this Con versus Cooper thing, it's like they were on the same team.
Starting point is 00:37:12 They're great friends. They're both white dudes from America. They're like, their stats are pretty much identical. You know, um, if you would redrafts, it, you would probably take flag just because of the height and the potential and the tools and sort of like what he can do. But if you were trying to win a game right now, you would probably take Khan because he's so valuable. But just like the quit stack comparisons, it's 18.7 points for con and 18.8 for Cooper. 5.5 rebounds for Khan, 6.4 rebounds for Cooper. Three points, six assists for Khan, 4.1 assists for Cooper. It's also worth mentioning that Cooper,
Starting point is 00:37:51 has been given a lot more rope and leeway to sort of like do things actively on offense where he doesn't have a lamello ball or a Brandon Miller on his team which is sort of like naturally going to have the ball in their hands so Khan's opportunity to create and build stats and stat pad isn't been the same as Cooper's but but also it's just super fun to keep your eye hold on also that is an advantage to have other guys that command the tension with you yes right So we could say Cooper Flags, we could say Cooper Flags opportunity is greater, but also if I'm a defense. Yeah, of course. And I was watching the Mavs, they were in a close game.
Starting point is 00:38:36 I forget who it was with. It was a few weeks ago. I think I mentioned on the show, they were doubling Cooper Flag in the last three minutes right when he got over half court. And he's 19 years old. He can't even grow a beard. And he's getting double teams in clutch time. Whereas, that's going to hurt your, yeah, it's going to hurt your numbers.
Starting point is 00:38:55 How many times does Cooper flag get to catch the ball uncontested, right? Where a guy drove down and kicks it out to somebody. Like, can be able to rebound, but in transition, but never. Canipal situation is actually good if you watch that team. Hell yeah. Like it's not, he's not under, he's not under massive duress. No. Because Miller is a gamer too.
Starting point is 00:39:16 Oh, my God. He had 30 yesterday and I was like, sheesh. I mean, they got guys that can give you 30 on the team. I thought about guys that can give you 20. They got guys that can give you 30. I've been listening to you tell me how great the grillsies are when everyone's healthy for the past two years. No, we don't have to discuss that right now.
Starting point is 00:39:35 But I will say that if you're an Orlando Magic fan or if you're a Charlotte Hornets fan, you can't convince yourself that when everyone is available, you've got a much better team than it looks like current. For sure. Yeah. I'm keeping my eye on rookie in the year. It's fun. It's just fun. Two guys with Duke, you know, they're both fantastic. Like, I just love this rookie of the year. I love this whole rookie class.
Starting point is 00:40:00 Like, the whole rookie class is great. I love this too, because my next one is, you may know that things have changed for me in terms of my viewing experience over the course of the last few weeks. It appears as if there's a very good chance that the franchise star for the Memphis Grizzlies gets moved that would signal a move into a new era. It would also, you may have noticed, that the Portland Trailblazers have moved up. The clippers have moved up.
Starting point is 00:40:38 And so now it's a lottery time. Well, over the weekend, like much of, the United States. We were hit with a colossal winter storm. I can't even get out of my neighborhood. Like, it's crazy. It just paralyzes a city in the south. We have one salt truck,
Starting point is 00:41:00 and it hadn't made its way this way, okay? And it's for a million people. All kidding aside, I'm hunkered down, obviously, the NFL playoffs are on, the NBA's on. I start watching college basketball. And, oh, my God. let me tell you something.
Starting point is 00:41:18 You love Con and Cooper. This 2026 NBA draft is loaded. Loaded. First, there's this kid from Illinois. Keaton Wogler, who this past week drops like 46 or 47 at Purdue in Mackey. He was like the 150th. ranked prospect or something like this when I went and looked him up. He is 6-6. He's got the ball.
Starting point is 00:41:52 If you watch the highlights, he's doing it off the dribble. He's doing it off screens. He's doing it. I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Everything this kid does, you're watching it and it translates. Like, and he's a guy I'd never even heard of or thought about until this weekend. You've got the kid in Arkansas, A-Cuff Jr., who's having this great season.
Starting point is 00:42:17 And that's not to mention all these other ones in this freshman class. So what's interesting is college basketball has progressively gotten older. And a lot of these teams have gotten, you know, they're doing it with, you look up and they're like, oh, they got this fifth year guy, this six year guy, this fourth year guy, whatever. Yeah, yeah. And last year, when we got to the regular season, I would keep track of Ken Pomeroy, Kenpom.com, does a, his is the analytical site for college basketball. And one of the things that he has on his side every year is a player of the year rankings
Starting point is 00:42:54 based upon the analytics. And so last year, it was mega fascinating that when you looked at those last year, Cooper Flagg was at the top. This would not surprise you, right? He was the best player last year on these rankings. But the other guys that were like on that list were Walter Clayton Jr., who was a senior at Florida, Hunter Dickinson at Kansas,
Starting point is 00:43:20 Neat Clifford at Colorado State, Mark Sears at Bama. They're all like old guys, all of them. And then there was Cooper flag. You're either 19 or 24. There's no other 20. Right. And then there was Cooper flag at the top.
Starting point is 00:43:31 So it made him stand out like a sore thumb. This year, after watching this past weekend, and I'm like, damn, man, these guys are freaking good, right? I go and look, you look at the player of the year rankings, right now in terms of who are the best players in college basketball based on this. Number one is Camboozer at Duke.
Starting point is 00:43:52 Number three is A.J. DeBonsta at BYU.U. Number four is Caleb Wilson at North Carolina. And number five is Kingston Fleming's at Houston. Four of the top five players in the country based on that this year are freshmen. And you can go down the list and you'll find them. And they're putting up like, 30 and 40 and like just this past weekend. You had the kid I mentioned from Illinois go for over 40 at Purdue.
Starting point is 00:44:23 You had Cam Boozer go for 32 and 9. You had Kingston Fleming's at Houston go for 42. You had AJ DeBonsta go for 43. You had the kid from Arkansas, A Cuff Jr. go for 31 and 6. You had the kid at Tennessee against Bama, Nate Ait Amant, go for 29 and 7. Like Jacoby, this thing is loaded. Like, we're looking at this rookie class and we're like, oh, my God, this rookie class is unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:44:56 Wait till you see next years because I can't believe the production these kids are putting up. It's freaky, absolutely freaky. And even DeBonsta, after his game, was asked about like, are you, do you pay attention? like, did you see what went on in Illinois? Did you see? And he was like, we were in, we were in the locker room watching Houston versus Texas Tech. And it's all Kingston Fleming. And he's like, and I've been playing against all these guys in Y, YBL since the 15.
Starting point is 00:45:28 He's like, it's unbelievable to be a part of this. But like, especially now, the reason the flag thing was so crazy was because we looked around. And like you said, he's playing against adults. That's what in many people. in college basketball, you're playing against adults. These kids in this year's freshman class are theoretically, they're playing against adults too. And they are killing it, absolutely killing it.
Starting point is 00:45:56 And so, look, it's been a while since I've had to be this invested in a lottery, but I couldn't believe it when I was watching college basketball on Saturday. Maybe I just picked the right day, but I was like, good grief. When you're seeing like 31, 32, 42, 43, and these kids are doing what they're doing? Okay. Like, I think, I don't know. Like, I know that a lot's been made of American basketball,
Starting point is 00:46:21 but good grief are they producing talent? Oh, God. And, you know, I think two years ago, it was a, famously isn't the right word, but it was a noted sort of like not the best draft. And it played out that way their rookie season. They didn't really have splash impacts players, especially on any sort of like contending team.
Starting point is 00:46:40 Sure. But, you know, I talked about Khan and Cooper. But if you think about, I spoke about the Raptors earlier, Murray Boyles is a huge part of their success and the other players that they've drafted. And then you've got, you know, the Pelicans are reconsidering their entire future of their franchise because of fears and queen. And then in Grizzlies, things are pretty miserable in Memphis right now. But you can still watch Cedric Howard play basketball. And to piggyback off of what you were saying is not only was last.
Starting point is 00:47:10 year is a very impressive rookie class before the draft. But the impact that they have had so young and so early in their NBA careers has been impressive. And based on what we're seeing early from next year's draft, it could be a repeat of this year's draft. This is just the fact that like Flagg was amazing in college basketball and like like I said, he was number one in those player of the year rankings. Four of the top five in a landscape that includes 330 teams.
Starting point is 00:47:40 many of which are like, you know, 23, 24-year-olds on some of these teams. And these freshmen are just unbelievable, unbelievable. Now, you say you're keeping an eye on this sort of class and how good they are and all the potential stars that are there. Does any of that have to do with the fact that your Grizzlies fucking suck now? Oh, 100%. Okay, good. That's funny.
Starting point is 00:48:05 I used it. Yeah, I moved to I'm watching college basketball. How dare you? How dare you? We talked about this off the top, but this to me is like one of the most fascinating things that I've keeping my eye on is like, all right,
Starting point is 00:48:23 you know what it's not going to happen? The Lakers are not going to win the championship. All right? They're not going to make the NBA finals. So they're going to get bounced in the first round or the second round of the playoffs, right? So what I'm keeping an eye on is then what? Like, I can't predict what's going to happen
Starting point is 00:48:38 to trade deadline. But if Austin, Reeves is still on the team. Are you going to pay him long term? No. And I think there's a world in which LeBron James can come back to the Lakers. Timeout, Rich Paul. Why not? Okay. He is 27 and awesome. Like, what are we talking about? Why not? I think he's a great fit for a lot of teams in the National Basketball Association. A team that contains Luca Dongechich, he is just not the right fit for. Oh, really? And I was announced it. No, no. The team. And the team. The team is He said he was averaging 27 points a game for.
Starting point is 00:49:14 Well, I love your neon basketball behind you, Mr. Vernon, but that does not give you the right to interrupt me while I'm in the middle of a sentence and not in a fight. And I will say the salary that he's going to command next year. We've talked for two years about how constraining the CBA is now. Oh. You can, if you're paying Luca what you're paying him, you've kind of only got like another big salary that you can fit in there.
Starting point is 00:49:40 And it ain't LeBron James and it ain't Austin Reeves. Okay. All right. Yeah. Don't pay the guy that can average 27 points a game. No. I can't defend anybody and he does the same thing that Luca does. It just doesn't make sense.
Starting point is 00:49:53 There's a redundancy there. To commit to Austin Reeves for the next four years is not the right thing for the Lakers to do. And I know you know that in your heart of hearts. I don't know that to my heart of heart. And if there's LeBron. Let's say LeBron. Let's say LeBron, he could come back to Lakers.
Starting point is 00:50:04 if he does come back, he's not going to get. That's what you get. That's called karma. That is called background pictures on the wall are falling off. You know what's not falling? You know what's not falling? My neon basketball, every picture on your wall, you can't even get, you don't even have good nails.
Starting point is 00:50:24 Look at this. Look at this. It's perfect. You on the other hand, you attack me. And then this happens, karma. I did that. Ooh. wait till the other one start falling down.
Starting point is 00:50:37 Your whole little rooms falling apart. I'm going to have KOC do the show next week and replace my name. We're going to send you a Zoom link to the wrong time. You're going to join a Zoom. There's no one here. Where's Executive Producer Jesse? Where's Jacoby? Then you're going to get your phone and notification, new episode of the mismatch,
Starting point is 00:50:59 KOC and Jacoby. We are very nice to each other and break down the future of the NBA. and why it's a bad idea for the Lakers to sign Austin Reeves. Because Bruno can't wrap his head around that. Whatever, man. And LeBron's, is LeBron going to take like a reduced salary to stay with the Lakers? Are they going to commit four years, like 160 to Austin Reeves? Like, what is happening?
Starting point is 00:51:21 Why are you not on my, maybe the best path is moving off the 42-year-old? Well, I don't think that's really their decision. I think LeBron sort of like autonomously makes the decision of what he, He wants to do next year and then notifies the Lakers. Well, and his agent tried to trade to Austin Reeves already. Who's his agent? I forgot again. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:51:43 Next thing I'm keeping an eye. Last one. The Tatum fast returned from an Achilles. Like, this seems very real now. Like, they did an open workout where people could watch it. And he's like running and dunking or whatever. And then over the weekend, you listen to two. different NBA veterans
Starting point is 00:52:06 that were getting the scaries about this. Charles Barkley obviously did it on inside the NBA, which is a big deal anytime he makes a comment on something. It's going to get picked up in headline. Vince Carter also talked about it.
Starting point is 00:52:22 And you can see like some of these like former players like kind of getting the scaries about this because it seems like it's actually going to really happen. I guess his dad had famously said Kobe came back in eight months
Starting point is 00:52:37 like eight months puts him like that's like he'd be back by February and they have been a huge surprise this year on the back of Jalen Brown having an all NBA season but
Starting point is 00:52:54 I mean are we really doing this? Like is he really going to be able to I saw the video too he's running jumping Duncan like, oh my God, like, is this really going to happen? Like he's going to return from an Achilles. And I just see these former players getting scared about him. And it makes it sound like this is like, this is a reality.
Starting point is 00:53:18 And at the very least, Jason Tatum is going to be playing basketball for the Boston Celtics by the time we get to the playoffs. And if that is the case, we're talking about how trade deadline acquisitions could change the way we feel about things. like in what is an Eastern conference where the number one seed is Detroit and has not exactly had playoff runs in the past. And the Knicks have recently had their swoons. You know, why not the Celtics?
Starting point is 00:53:50 Like, I mean, this would be just a crazy, crazy story. And I think we just all got to come to terms with it's usually a year injury, but it feels like this is really happening. And I don't think they'd make it. I don't think they'd make it public that this guy's running and jumping and dunkin unless the plan was like, yeah, he's actually going to be able to be back on the court. And we're going to see him back on the court this NBA season. So this story is a perfect one for keeping an eye on. And I'll explain why.
Starting point is 00:54:22 At first, is Jason Tatum going to come back? I believe we have the answer to that question as it currently stands. And that answer is yes. So now it becomes more interesting because it's not binary. Is he going to be back or is he not going to play? Because now that we get past that on the decision tree, is he going to play?
Starting point is 00:54:45 Because there's two links to that decision tree. Is he going to play? No. The tree ends there. Yes. Then it becomes how many minutes? What does he look like? Does he start?
Starting point is 00:54:57 Can you rely on him? Is he defending the same? Does he move the same? Can he still rebound? does Jalen Brown still carry the load of the offensive production? Is he now Robin? Exactly. Well, the whole Batman Robin thing I think is whatever.
Starting point is 00:55:11 Like, who cares? You know what I mean? We got Dwayne and LeBron. We got Brown and Tatum. Like, do what partnerships can work, right? Even if they play the same position. It's not like they have Kobe and Shaq, like, got the guy with the ball and the guy who dunks the ball.
Starting point is 00:55:22 But what he looks like and how much he plays. And when he comes back, maybe he's on a miniser restriction. for the last 20 games of the regular season, but maybe after those 20 games, he's somewhat himself again. Like, to me, it becomes so interesting to keep an eye on not whether or not he comes back. It's what he looks like, who he is,
Starting point is 00:55:47 and is he Jason Tatum saying, I'm going to win another championship for the Boston Celtics in 2026, or is he Jason Tatum saying, I'm going to get my body ready for a full regular season at 26, 27. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:56:04 He's coming back. And then they'll probably go to Go to Satan get Horford so they can all run it back again. Orford went on vacation to California for six months and now they're going to bring him back.
Starting point is 00:56:17 Like, all right, let's take it going. Tristan Luka Garza for Chris Taps, Porzingas and some petersillan. It's time to go win a title. Tatum's coming back. What a shock. What a shock. I mean, this was supposed to be a punted season.
Starting point is 00:56:31 Now we're talking about them as a chance for the title. And then you watch them and you're just like, I guess no one can get past Jordan Walsh. And I guess Shireman never misses a shot. You're like, what is this? Well, I mean, like, look, Lillard tore his Achilles and the Bucks thing went to hell. And Halliburton tore his Achilles and the Pacers thing went to hell. And Tatum tore his Achilles. And we're talking about them like, could they be a title favorite if he comes back?
Starting point is 00:56:59 Yes. Crazy. Crazy story. it's it's it's been really really it's been one of the best stories of the league and i and i think this has been covered a ton and we don't have to spend time on it but like uh obviously it's not good that jason tatum got injured but it's been a really good growth here for jalen brown and his to belway no question yep goes without saying last one all right take it home do you know what i'm keeping an eye on what two things number one net
Starting point is 00:57:31 stock. Because once the mismatch hits Netflix, I mean, like through the roof, is it insider trading if I buy a ton of Netflix stock today right now
Starting point is 00:57:45 before the episode drops? Like, I don't know. Do I have to reach out to someone at the FDIC or the SEC? I don't know. How does this work?
Starting point is 00:57:53 You're asking the wrong guy. If I know the Netflix stock is about to go through the roof because Verno and Jacoby are now available on the net Netflix platform. Right. Is that insider trading or not?
Starting point is 00:58:04 Is it legal for me to heavily invest in Netflix at this moment before the mismatch appears? I think you can. I don't think, I don't think that you- I think so too. Yeah. It's been publicly announced, so it's public information. I mean, well, Matt, Matt Damon probably did before his big movie that's out there. The rip.
Starting point is 00:58:23 It's on, yeah, the rip. The rip. Yeah. All right. Well, maybe- I would say, I would say we're the probably like, I mean, outside of the rip, the most significant thing to happen to Netflix in the last week, for sure. I mean, I know there's other podcasts and stuff that have been, like, not. Just a couple.
Starting point is 00:58:40 I would say. I feel bad for the other podcasts, honestly. I mean, many have called us the Damon and Affleck of the NBA. I mean, that's been, that's been a copy. Many have. Yes, many have done that. Yes. And just to be featured alongside Poop Cruise is a huge, huge accomplishment in my career.
Starting point is 00:59:00 I agree. Have you seen poop crews, dude? Yeah, of course. It's awesome. I've seen everything. I've seen it all, too. I've seen it all. There's no Netflix documentary I haven't seen.
Starting point is 00:59:12 I'm watching all of it, all of it, all of it. Shout to the Cecil Hotel. I watched that over the weekend. And the second thing I keep an eye on is this is important for now. Oh. Before we started recording. Okay. If you've been watching on Netflix, all of the pictures have fallen off behind me because
Starting point is 00:59:30 they want to make sure that everything's licensed and I have to change I'm going to use the stupid things and stick them to the wall and they fell, right? Don't excuse ruining our debut on Netflix with your stuff behind you. That's crazy. You ruined it by saying the Lakers should keep Austin reused because he's awesome. He scores 27 points and can't defend anybody and they've got Luca. Anyway, one of the things they're concerned about is the different cups that we use so we can't show logos of beverages that we're drinking or whatever.
Starting point is 01:00:00 And Verno breaks out his cup. and he looks like French Montana in a music video. He's got a styrofoam cup about like a pint glass. I do. And not like that, I was like, and I'm, you know, I'm not a cute. It's not a cute. It's 32 ounces. Oh, sorry, sorry.
Starting point is 01:00:19 I'm not a huge like environmentalist. I do believe in climate change, right? You know, not crazy. Here we go. But I said, Bernan, are you drinking from a styrofoam? cup at home. Because I've never seen someone that had styrofoam cups
Starting point is 01:00:36 in their home. And Verno did not just answer affirmatively. He said the following. Verno, what did you say? I go to the restaurant supply store. He goes to the restaurant supply store to bulk by styrofoam cups.
Starting point is 01:00:51 I do. So I've got a very easy explanation for this. Okay. And you will know this as a health conscious human. I am constantly on the run and what happened is I am also messy okay
Starting point is 01:01:05 just hear me out I'm constantly on the run and I'm also messy so I'm always like using my neutral bullet and making smoothies and then I pour them in the Yetis or whatever and then I leave and then there but then I don't take them out of my car
Starting point is 01:01:23 and there is nothing worse there's nothing worse so I said I am solving this problem. When I am leaving the house, I need to go cups so I can put my smoothies in them. And then I throw them away. Then I'm done. Right.
Starting point is 01:01:40 So then I don't have these like smoothie because it, the worst is if you leave the lid on it and then it like stays in your car. Number one, it cakes up on the side. It smells horrible. That's actually how monkey pox started. It was your car. So this is the reason I said, what could I do so that I don't. have this smoothie problem and that's
Starting point is 01:02:02 when I came upon the styrofoam cups. So now instead of you be rating me you're like, holy crap, that's genius. He has solved the problem that many people have, which is the smoothie-smelling Yeti
Starting point is 01:02:18 that is awful. And so that's why I have the styrofoam cups. They're smoothie cups. Huh? Why styrofoam? Why not paper cups? Because I hate the earth. Is that what you want me to do? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:02:31 I'm just curious. I don't even know they sold styrofoam cups in both. Where's this restaurant supply store that you got. Because, okay, the reason I got styrofoam is because that's what they have in smoothie king. And I figured that's like the best for smoothies. What else am I going to use paper? I guess. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:02:48 Yeah, it's the best. It's the best for smoothies. I will say this. You're so jealous of my styrofoam. You can't even contain yourself right now. I just think it's when you wear your chain, people that just listen to Verno don't know that Berno has like a pretty thick
Starting point is 01:03:02 I won't call it like a white gold chain I think between the chain and you're like styrofoam styrofoam cup you're like you're like a two face tattoos away from being like the hottest newest white rapper don't let me give face tattoos I'll do it yeah you're two face tattoos
Starting point is 01:03:18 away from like from getting a deal yeah styrofoam cup chain two face tattoos that'll get you like a little deal a little record now when you heard the explanation of the styrofoam cubs, it's obviously not as gangster as you thought. No, not at all.
Starting point is 01:03:36 It's for my smoothies. I've ruined any chance in street grid when I'm like, actually I go to the restaurant supplies. Yeah, I go to the restaurant supply store, so I have them for my smoothies. I mean, that's not exactly.
Starting point is 01:03:52 I lost all street grid. I also have a policy, especially if the cup, if, the water bottle has a straw, water only. You'll ruin any water bottle that costs you $40, $60 or whatever. If you put even some electrolyte powder in there, any sort of sugar, any sort of anything that is not pure water does not belong in those water bottles. Because I'm the one who always has to clean them and they're over.
Starting point is 01:04:18 So two things. Number one, Netflix stock on the rise. Number two, when your children have colonized Mars and they're wearing helmets, and they can't breathe the air outside. Just remember who to blame. Chris Vernon. That will be him. Chris Vernon is solely responsible for the,
Starting point is 01:04:36 the Artemis exploration. I'm for sure going to get berated about this. Later this week, the Artemis exploration in the moon is strictly because they need to colonize Mars because Chris Vernon is using three styrofoam cups every single day. So his little smoothie movies don't get moji.
Starting point is 01:04:52 All right. I would just, you're stuck in your car. All right. I would just like to say Netflix, you're welcome. for us putting together the greatest show ever. I apologize to Bill Simmons and pardon my take and everybody else at the ringer.
Starting point is 01:05:06 It's going to be hard to get any real estate on Netflix when you've got a mismatch out there. Yeah, I figure we're going to be featured on everybody's front page. Yeah, number one. Number one, till the end of time. And I also just want, so you're welcome. Also, I'm sorry that my co-host can't get nails to hang up his pictures behind. I also do want to say that, to Curtis 50 Cent Jackson.
Starting point is 01:05:32 If we are ever above any of your properties on the Netflix queue, I apologize in advance. We love you. And I do not want the smoke. And we are big Curtis 50 Cent Jackson fans, not just because we're terrified of your power on social media, but also because we appreciate your music,
Starting point is 01:05:51 artistry and your business acumen. Goat as far as we're concerned. Thank you to our producer, Jesse Lopez, as always, Jacoby. I'll talk to you later this week.
