Starting point is 00:00:12 Hello, General Public. Yeah. Welcome to the Public Figures podcast. I'm Brian Bates, as always with Aaron Weber. Hello, everybody. Dusty Slay. All right. Good to be here.
Starting point is 00:00:25 You know, I usually say common folk or hay bores. Right. Some people always get upset about it. Yeah. General public's good. Dusty did general public. You don't like folk anyway, so General Public, you know. You look good in that shirt.
Starting point is 00:00:39 Thank you. You were talking about it before we started recording. Yeah, but I want to, now we're recording. I want everyone to know that I think Brian looks good in that shirt. Okay. It's almost like you're softening the ground to be mean to them later. No, that's how you guys operate. I get genuine compliments.
Starting point is 00:00:54 I don't know, man. You're pretty conniving. That's how I would describe you. Coniving. Well, we are recording this episode a week early because our buddy Leah and Morgan's in town. All right. We've got her on the show today. That's going to be awesome.
Starting point is 00:01:08 Big time. Getting ready to do the Prater Silly show tonight. That's right. It's going to be great. Big show tonight. Looking forward to it. So, recording early, I would have just been in Cincinnati this weekend, did two shows. They both sold out.
Starting point is 00:01:21 Again, standing ovation. Wow. I'll probably be doing the football stadium. I hear a lot of chatter from Cincinnati about that show. Yeah. People are, they're like, whoa. There's a buzz of brewing up in Cincinnati. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:35 They go, what just swept through the city? I can still feel it reverberating. The Super El Niño came early. or late. Tomorrow night, Thursday, October 8th, I'll be in Raleigh at Good Night's Comedy Club. And then this Sunday, October 11th, I'll be back in Charleston at Whitson Comedy Club. All right. Next week, Aaron Weber speaking, I'm going to be in California, beautiful California, San Francisco at the punchline.
Starting point is 00:01:59 And then I'm going to head up to Sacramento at the punchline. So I'm going to be on the West Coast next week. So come on out and see me. Dusty, what about you? You know, guys, I'll be doing some. Air Force bases. Yeah, I'm going to be doing an Air Force base outside of Las Vegas on Thursday, outside of Glendale, Arizona, or maybe in Glendale, on Friday, and then Tucson, Arizona
Starting point is 00:02:25 on Saturday. Is that open to the public? It is not. But if you had, well, there might be people on that base that listen to this podcast. Well, also, you want people to know you're working. Yeah, but there could be people on the base. No, I'm saying there's nothing wrong with that. Yeah, I'm working out.
Starting point is 00:02:40 And those people, those people on the base, they matter. And I want them to know about the show. And I want them to be able to come. Yeah. You see, Brian, he cares about people. And you don't. And also, you know, if you have access to the base, you can also come to the show. Some people, you know, may not be on base, but they're former military or whatever.
Starting point is 00:03:01 And they have a badge or. Yeah. Or your janitor or something that works on the base. And they can get on there. And you want to come see the show. Okay. It's a free show if you have access. So come to the show.
Starting point is 00:03:12 All right. It's going to be good. That's great. Well, welcome. I just care about the service members of our country. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. As a former military guy yourself.
Starting point is 00:03:23 Well, I don't, you know, I don't think people like that when you go. I was almost in the military. Yeah. But I was. Yeah. Almost. You know, I was just the right age if they'd brought back the draft, the Gulf War. Oh, were you worried about that?
Starting point is 00:03:39 the time. Can you imagine if I was reading the charge? Oh my God. The world could be a lot different. Sure would be. It could be a superpower. Could really be high T. Bates though, in here right now. Yeah. You might be drill sergeant Bates. Yeah, jarhead bates going in here. Yeah. And you'd have a little high and tight. Yep. Yeah, you're right. It's funny how. We're in fatigues. You never know. Do one of those things, you know, one of those things that, uh,
Starting point is 00:04:09 Works out your forms? A grip strength. Yeah, just doing that all day. We brought one in here recently. No, I mean the ones that build it up. Oh, okay. Not the one that test it. Okay, just like with the springs.
Starting point is 00:04:19 Yeah. You know who the big general was in that war? Probably before your time. Who? Sergeant Slaughter. A little bit after that. Norman Schwarzen. Okay.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Storm and Norman. You heard of him? Storm and Norman. I've heard of that. Yeah. You remember him? I thought that was about Oklahoma football. I thought that's what they call Mark Norman.
Starting point is 00:04:37 Storming Norman. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. But anyway, I don't remember that name. That sounds like he was... I'm right about that, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:45 But, yeah. I do remember it felt like they made Sergeant Slaughter, made it seem like he was in that war, like in wrestling. Uh-huh. They made it seem like... A little stolen valor going on. Really?
Starting point is 00:04:57 Because I thought Sergeant Slaughter was in the 80s. I mean, I think he came on into the 90s. Okay. So they made it like... Yeah, you know, it's not stolen valor in the sense that I don't think he was saying, at book signings or whatever. But I think his character.
Starting point is 00:05:13 His character. Yeah. Yeah. You want to get in these comments? Yep. Let's get into it. Let's knock it out. Comments come from Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Apple podcast reviews, and mail at
Starting point is 00:05:25 natelandpodcast.com. First comment comes from Nick Fury. Wow. Do you know Nick Fury, Aaron? No. Head of the Avengers? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:35 Simiola Jackson's character. Oh. The Avengers. Okay. I've never seen them. I don't like sorcery and witchcraft and stuff. You know, there is something to that. I do like the Avengers movies,
Starting point is 00:05:48 but there's a whole theory out there that the Avengers are the bad guys and that Thanos is just, you know, he's a perverted version of, you know, like a godlike figure. Oh, okay. You know, and he just... He's just trying to thin the hurt.
Starting point is 00:06:05 He just wants to set balance. Right. And the Avengers are out here just being pestle. Yeah. Meddling kids. Yeah. I think Harry Potter is probably the biggest pop culture reference that I don't really know. You know nothing about it. I know the name just because it is so big.
Starting point is 00:06:21 You don't know what house you're in, anything like that. I know there's Dumbledorf. Dumbledore. Dumbledore. Albus, Wolfrich, Brian. Yeah. Okay. Albus Percival, Wolfrick, Brian, Dumbledore.
Starting point is 00:06:37 And I feel like he's a good guy. he's the best guy but he's flawed which was revealed in the seventh book he has some deep flaws okay you know this but he's the hero no
Starting point is 00:06:48 and slither Dusty's one who taught me all this dude uh slither is that one slitherin slithere in he's a bad guy
Starting point is 00:06:56 started by Salazar Slytherin that's one of the four houses and he's bad right yeah he's a historical figure when the book start but there's a house named after him the Slytherin house and there's a
Starting point is 00:07:09 They're a little darker, though. They're kind of the emo kids. I do remember that from like movie one. They're all about pure blood and ambition and kind of Machiavellian. And who was Alan Rickman? Alan Rickman played Severus Snape. Okay. Who was a double agent.
Starting point is 00:07:27 I love Alan Rickman. He's unbelievable. Yeah. And there was. And he was a Slytherin. The name, he that shone upy name? That was Voldemort. Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:37 And on this podcast. His birth name was Tom Riddle. He was an orphan. And rearranged all the letters in his name to I am Lord Voldemort. Wow. So there's a lot of stuff. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:53 So you've been briefed. All right. Now you're ready to have conversations about it. Yeah. I was about to make a joke about he shall not be named on this podcast. But I'll move on. Okay. Dusty has his own version.
Starting point is 00:08:08 Yep. Guys. You guys are silly. Nick Fury. I didn't think it was possible, but every episode has been getting funnier and funnier. Much love from New Orleans. All right.
Starting point is 00:08:22 Thanks, Nick. Thank you, Nick. Yeah. Nicholas. Eventually, we've got to let him down. Today could be the day. I like that he, I like to think that either he thought it was so funny,
Starting point is 00:08:33 there was no way it could get funnier, or he was like, these guys will never be. funny. They will never reach their potential. Yeah. Yeah. Andrew Linker. I'm not hating on Dusty.
Starting point is 00:08:46 All right. I like how it started. I'm not hating on Dusty here, but how does Brian, with Dusty's hair and beard, look like a sociology professor at a community college, and Dusty looks like he's a comedian living life. Well, hating on Dusty. It sounds like you're hating on Brian.
Starting point is 00:09:02 He said he's not hating on me. Yeah. He met it. Yeah. Well, you know, it's AI. So AI doesn't have a soul. And so, you know, you can have some fun with it, but it's not going to, it's tough to make you look real cool. Yeah, I agree. I agree.
Starting point is 00:09:19 I think you look good in a beard and hair, though. Yeah, that's the general consist. You said he looks good now with that shirt. Well, his chest looks good. Look at him. Okay. Yeah, got a good glimpse of it right there. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:33 But imagine him with the beard and long hair with that shirt on. fits good on his shoulders. I think it's a good shirt. It is. It's a perfect fit. Yeah. I, I, the, the little, the seam on the shoulder that's sitting at, I think, the exact right spot on his shoulder. Yeah. It's a perfect fit. Yeah. Yeah, do a spin. I didn't have this headset on it. I'd go all the way around. Well, thank you, Andrew for that. Thank you, Andrew. Anna Gravely, Bald Aaron is Lee Kimbr. Okay. I'll take that. Is that Lee's wife?
Starting point is 00:10:10 Yeah, Lee's wife name is Anna. Yeah. That's true. Yeah, I looked at the, we don't have them up now, but I looked at the pictures. I could see it. I didn't see it at the time, but after I saw this comment, I looked, and I'm like, okay, I can see a resemblance. I probably got 100 pounds on Lee. So, yeah. So Lee probably hates that.
Starting point is 00:10:30 Yeah, Lee, I hope Lee never hears this, that his wife said this about him. Tamara Terry Brian with Aaron's hair and beard is gorgeous Wow I can tell who's compiling this list of comments No I can't Since I don't have
Starting point is 00:10:49 Aaron's hair or beard I think that as kind of an insult I thought I was gorgeous already So Tamara Terry is saying I'm not I have my beard in hair But I got a different face Yeah Yeah
Starting point is 00:11:00 That's too bad Too bad for both of us right Yep AI Brian though Is crushing it out here Like AI Brian is so good. Clubs, radio stations are using it. I mean, AI Brian is crushing it. I think real Brian's crushing it. Yeah, yeah, me too. But AI Brian, though. There we go. I like air and with long air. Look at that guy. Someone said that look like a young Big J. Okerson.
Starting point is 00:11:28 Yeah. It looked like Young Jay Oak is right there. Yeah. No, they said Big J. Okay. Dude, Big J. told me once he was on a comedy festival and Cindy Kaza was on the festival too. You know what Cindy Kaza does for a living? I opened for her once. She's a medium. Yeah. So it was Big J. O'Kerson and then medium Cindy Kaza.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Yeah. He thought they were making fun of them. That's funny. You need a little in there. You opened for a medium once. Yeah, Ed Zaney. it go. Did you guys do a seance or anything like that? No, I didn't, I didn't really know what that was, to be honest. Did you say some prayers beneath your breath in the green room? Try to get those dark energy out of
Starting point is 00:12:16 them? Afterwards, yeah, I thought it was weird, but she was nice. She's very nice. And I, the show did not go that well. Okay. For you or for her? For me. Okay. It went fine, but it was not the right pairing. That is an interesting booking. How did it go for you? Great. I mean, it's a hot show. Yeah. I always crush. Yeah. Even Dusty's thought of Dusty, looking like Dusty, brought on this new positive energy.
Starting point is 00:12:45 I like it. I like the high TV. Take shoes off. I killed it. Yeah. I don't think you can ground on carpet, but I'll try it. You know, there's a video you may have seen out there of Bruce Lee saying you shouldn't even, you shouldn't say negative things about yourself, even joking, because your body can't tell the difference.
Starting point is 00:13:03 and it puts off certain bad vibes. Why is Bruce Lee talking about this? I don't know, but... Words have power. Words have power. He says spelling means like a spell. The whole English language is a bit like a spell, though. I thought you'd be on board with this, Desi.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Yeah, I am. You should see some breakdown of some of that stuff, and it's wild. But I like Bruce Lee. You're okay with the martial arts? Yeah, I like, yeah, I mean, I think it's great. I love, I mean, I like Kung Fu. movies. But I like it for more than just the fighting. It, man, I've talked about that before, such a great movie. It's so good. I'll have to check it out. You got to watch it. You got to do,
Starting point is 00:13:44 you can't do the English dubbed one. You have to read the subtitles. I've done both. It loses something when you, when it dubs in the English. You remember when people were saying, if you do a Superman pose, they recommend you wake up and you do the Superman pose in front of your mirror for 10 minutes and just look at yourself, you're going to have a great day. Wow. I don't know what exactly it does for you. But it convinces, well, yeah, you shouldn't have hyped up his chest so much. Yeah, no, I like it.
Starting point is 00:14:13 He's just letting it fly now. Yeah, I like it. I like it. Well, Dusty always flexes his pecks. Yeah. There you go. He's doing it right now. That's why I think compliments are good.
Starting point is 00:14:22 You got to give them to people. Okay. Make them feel good. Okay. Well, thank you for complimenting my shirt. Yeah. Makes me feel better. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:32 All right. Ben Hulscholt. Ben Hulsholt. Brian with Aaron's hair and beard is 100% Ben Ruffusberger. We had a few people say that, and I guess I could see it. Up there in the top right, Dusty. Yeah, somebody told me you look like Rory Scoville. I could see that too. Yeah. Oh, I can see that.
Starting point is 00:14:55 Somebody told you that? Yeah, somebody texted to me. But yeah, I could see it. All right. Dennis Kennedy. Aaron saying Amanda Binds is the Audrey Huffburn of our generation is absolutely insane. Wow, take. I think I meant more.
Starting point is 00:15:14 I'll amend it. I'll amend it. I'll say the Carol Burnett of our generation. Or the Mary Tyler Moore of our generation. You know, I'm not as familiar with them. I do know those names. And I'm also not that familiar with Amanda Binds. I just know that she.
Starting point is 00:15:30 She just didn't catch you at the right time. But she's a bit like Bo Jackson. She broke her hip, right in her prime. Yeah. And it's kind of a tragic what if story. But I like to think there's still a little gas left into the tank. I think we've got the right project. We can put something together.
Starting point is 00:15:45 We can bring Amanda back. Who knows? I like that. Amanda, Amanda, Amanda. Yeah. Bring in the dancing lobsters. You know what I'm talking about? I have no idea.
Starting point is 00:15:55 I assume it's Amanda Binds. The Amanda show. You really need Noah here. I need Noah. Something. Katie's got me. he's got. Yeah. Okay. Kelly Christensen. Watch wet heat with a friend last July when it came out. That friend and I are now newlyweds and he's taking me to Dusty Show for my birthday, October 8th, and Tucson. Full circle moment, so excited for his 90-minute set. All right. I love that. Love that. Thank you guys. You know, listen. I don't know if those dates line up, though, by the way.
Starting point is 00:16:32 So just do check that, Kelly. Well, you know what? I think she just said October, and I looked up your date. I thought it was said the eighth. Is that not right? Who knows? I hope it's right, because if it's wrong, I got a lot of travel to amend. It's going to be a real issue for me.
Starting point is 00:16:51 I looked at your website. Maybe I looked at it wrong. I'll say this. I never root for a divorce. But if something happens, please write back. Listen. At the show. loved wet heat, but we went to a show and we were like, I shouldn't be with this guy.
Starting point is 00:17:05 When a relationship starts with wet heat, it leads to marriage every time. That's what I've always said. It's a clean podcast, I see. I'm talking about, you're the only one, I don't know where your mind is. Yeah, mine's in the gutter, I'll tell you that. I'm talking about, look at that special back here. Wet heat's humidity. Come on, Brian.
Starting point is 00:17:22 Okay. Come on, Brian. When a relationship starts with wet heat. Wet heat, the special on Netflix that we've all been talking about. I know. I was trying to make a joke. You're always negative. You're always bringing me down.
Starting point is 00:17:43 Next one is... Thank you, Kelly. All right, next one is from Micah. As a child, my grandma always had me drink from the opposite side of the glass to cure hiccups. She also slept with a bar of soap in her bed to stop Charlie horses, though, so I'm not completely confident in the strategy. Well, did your grandmother have a lot of Charlie horses? horses. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:03 I've got an incomplete info before I'm going to trash your grandmother. I like to hear how that worked. Yeah. Do you ever do any of those at home remedies? You know, you rub, marmalade on your feet and put socks on and then, you know, that gets rid of anxiety or whatever. Last night, my son was coughing a lot. I chopped up an onion, put it on a plate, kept it in the room.
Starting point is 00:18:21 Wow. The onion, it's supposed to soak up all the toxins out of the room. Did you tell me about putting garlic in your nostrils? In your ear. To clear it. We can put it in your nostrils to clear out your nostrils to clear out your son. minuses too. I watched a guy do it. Garlick is amazing. My son had a, his ear was hurting. And he, I was like, I mean, I was trying to help him, but I was not like, I don't know, I was just like,
Starting point is 00:18:44 oh, I'm sorry, it hurts. And he was crying. And he said, help me. Wow. And I felt, I was like, oh, no. Yeah. And we took a garlic, we peeled it, stuck it in his ear, almost immediately, he felt better. What was going on? I don't know. Wow. His foot was hurting. That's amazing. Yeah, almost immediately he felt better. Support for today's episode comes from Square, the system powering like half of the places we all go. If you've ever tapped a pay and thought,

We did a thing, a babysitter did it, put an egg above your doorway and it's supposed to, golly, I forgot what it was. Anybody know this?
Starting point is 00:20:44 Tristan? Put an egg above your doorway. Like over my daughter's doorway into her room. Okay. And it's supposed to, something that children teething maybe or? Supposed to help with teething. If you leave an egg above the doorway. Yeah, it was a big.
Starting point is 00:21:00 Putting an egg in a sock. Did you put it in a sock? Yes. Putting an egg in a sock above a doorway is a viral internet trend, an old folklore remedy meant to relieve a baby's teething pain. They claim that hanging a raw egg in a sock absorbs carbon dioxide from the room. Believers think that less carbon dioxide reduces pressure on sore gums and stops teething pain. Doctors and scientists state it's completely false,
Starting point is 00:21:27 which means Dusty's on board right away. they're like, oh, we're not going to make any money off this. If we go, yeah, if you just hang a egg up there, everything will be all right, then they're not going to make any money. Wow. How about that? Yeah. Old doctors and scientists.
Starting point is 00:21:45 They always love to come up in here and ruin the party. Ruin all the good times. Well, thank you, Micah. Tim Miles, two things from this episode. Sleastacks freak me out as a kid. And man, Samson was a deep sleeper. Well, that is true. Yeah, he was.
Starting point is 00:22:03 When you're so strong, though, I mean, you've got to sleep hard to recover. When you're that strong, when you're out, you're out. Yeah. Yeah. Trust me. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, that story always, I mean, I guess Delilah was just really something. And whatever town they were living in, they probably weren't a lot of women out there like Delilah.
Starting point is 00:22:25 You know, there wasn't tender and stuff like that back then. If you had a girl, you had a girl. And there was no. no, finding a new one. Right. And Samson was like, this is what I got. I got the best girl in town. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:35 And she keeps tying me up. Yeah. She's just one of the, you know, women, right? Yeah. I'd tell her my weakness, and then she uses it against me. Oh, yeah, but she's lovely. Yeah, but I love her. Jana Cole.
Starting point is 00:22:49 I never really understood the hype behind dance until I went to see the ballet, specifically the Nutcracker. It's almost like watching a silent film because the music and the dance tell the entire story. Aaron, I'd suggest taking your daughter to a ballet and experience it with her. It might just make you see the magic of it a little differently. I don't doubt that, but I think in that case, that's dance in service of a story or something else. What I'm talking more about is dance for the sake of itself. Just watching a man dancing.
Starting point is 00:23:21 I don't know what I'm supposed to get out of it. It's never moved me. And I know plenty of people told me, hey, that's how I feel about sports. That's how I feel about XYZ. I totally get it. I'm not knocking you. I'm just saying for me, it doesn't register to me. Is that just because of dancing with the stars?
Starting point is 00:23:39 Or have you always felt like that about dancing in jazz? I've never liked it. There's a whole type of humor of just like a man dancing. And that's the humor. Isn't it funny that a man is dancing? Oh, no, I don't like that. I don't like that. I don't like karaoke, I think, for the same reason at all really embarrassing.
Starting point is 00:23:59 as me. It makes me uncomfortable. And I don't really know what I'm supposed to enjoy about it. Oh, you mean like Steve Ballmer and some of these cringy. No, I mean anybody dancing. Even a good dancer. Yeah. I don't understand what's supposed to be funny about it. Or like if it's not supposed to be, if it's not supposed to be sincere dancing, then I guess it's like, wow, look at it. It's hilarious that this, I don't know. Nothing about it. What about the Olympic Australian break dancer? Do that do anything for you? I just watched the documentary. Recommend it. Did it do anything for you?
Starting point is 00:24:32 The dancing. The documentary I liked a lot. Yeah. But no, the dancing. Could you argue that it's in service to a song? No. Maybe a couple of, like Michael Jackson, like, Thriller was so popular. Yeah, I've never cared about that either.
Starting point is 00:24:48 Yeah. I go, it's pretty cool that he can do a moonwalk, but I'm not trying to watch him. I'd like he goes ballet by yourself. I will go to the ballet by myself. I think I've seen the Nutcracker. I want you guys to go together. Again, this is just, why don't you come too, Dussie? All right.
Starting point is 00:25:03 All right. Really? Yeah, come on. Let's go. Okay, let's do it. Public figures road trip. I'm not trying to trash dance. It's just I don't like it.
Starting point is 00:25:11 You know, most commenters agree with you. Oh, really? Yeah. Okay, great. You know what? I'm doubling down. Yeah. Plenty of people said they feel the same way.
Starting point is 00:25:21 When a guy's dancing, it makes me so uncomfortable. So it's mostly men. That's the problem. I guess so I feel like there's a guy I wish I could think of his name like a really they named like a dance studio after him
Starting point is 00:25:37 and what did he do he danced he was a dancer Fred Astaire Fred Astaire but two Brian mentioned last thing
Starting point is 00:25:45 yeah okay and I watch that and I go that's incredible the amount of technical precision involved but also I just watched
Starting point is 00:25:54 a documentary about the best Scrabble player of all time and that's unbelievable and impressive, but it doesn't move me watching and play scrabble. What about the final scene in the movie Dirty Dancing? Oh, you know, I'm glad you brought that up because a friend of our show, well, I'll say two friends of our show that have competed in dancing competitions. Okay. Angela Johnson did a reality dancing show on Fox.
Starting point is 00:26:22 She did the dirty dancing thing. She did the dirty dance. I think she might have made it the final. She might her finish her up. It was very good, but I thought, wow, that's a lot. I mean, was she married at the time? Because I was thinking, man, you're really, really dancing with this guy. Yeah, she was, there was just a couple years ago.
Starting point is 00:26:36 Yeah, you know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah. I was like, yeah. And then Leanne Morgan did like dancing with the Knoxville stars. Oh, okay. We can ask her about it. All right.
Starting point is 00:26:47 So. How'd she do? I want to say she, we'll ask her about it. We'll find out. I think she had an injury and she had to go out there. Tristan's got Judson Veach pulled up. Oh, yeah. Who's a Nashville comic, but former professional ballet dance.
Starting point is 00:27:04 Look at him. Wow. He's jumping up in the air. He's got, you know, not a lot of clothes on in this picture, but he's touching his toes. I mean, I think he's quite an athlete, some of the dancing. I'd like to talk to him about a little bit. Just to figure out what's going on. I think I agree with you for the most part.
Starting point is 00:27:22 Right. Yeah. Right. I don't know exactly what I'm supposed to. to feel, but I do appreciate it, and you say you do too. I can be like, wow, that's amazing. They did that. What about when you see a room full of people doing the electric slide to a song like
Starting point is 00:27:35 Akey, Bricky, Bricky Hard, or Boot Scoot and Boogie? Now, that's fun because everyone is doing it and having fun. It's not a performance of the electric slide, and you're supposed to sit there and watch it and enjoy it. That's much different. Do you know what I mean? I do know what you mean. Did you dance at your wedding?
Starting point is 00:27:50 Yeah, a little bit, not a ton. But we danced a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. I couldn't remember. You know, at your own wedding, it's like you're running for president. You're just walking around shaking hands. I remember you played keyboard, I think. A little bit. My old band I used to play with was our band. What was their names? They're the Alexander Lane band.
Starting point is 00:28:12 They also did. Y'all were the Alexander Lane. No, they changed the name after I left. But they did the intro song to my special, available now on the Nate Lamb YouTube page. Cool. Mark Mark I like that Mark Giles
Starting point is 00:28:30 Also check out wet heat Yeah It's getting people married out here Also check out worried It's getting people divorced Yeah You can only watch so much Mark Giles
Starting point is 00:28:43 I'm with Dusty I've never been with sports I understand the enjoy it But I'm not sure the rest of the world Is into it as much as Aaron might think Well that's true The World Cup, hardly anyone watched it, just a few billion people. I'll say this, I've been thinking about what you said.
Starting point is 00:29:04 And I really think so much of the country, so much of the world is being held together by sports. It's kind of the common denominator between so many people. You meet a random guy at the airport. What's the one thing you can talk about? You'll talk about the weather for hours. Most people want to move on to something, right? So you talk about sports. It unites all of us.
Starting point is 00:29:27 Well, I will say to Mark, I used to be into sports. Right. And I've turned a corner on it. Dusty, here's what I will agree with you on. Sports gambling is out of control. It is. Yeah, I agree. Totally out of control.
Starting point is 00:29:39 Too many commercials on the games. In a world where almost can be ad-free if you want, you're bombarded with commercial breaks during a football game. And it's like the only time, time I ever see a commercial. It's too much. Well, that's the only time you're watching broadcast television probably. Yeah, it's like I feel like there needs to be a new model.
Starting point is 00:30:01 What would it be? Well, you can do like with Nate this weekend when we were watching the Vandy game, you know, pulled it up during commercial breaks. It just takes a wide shot of the stadium. Would you prefer that? It's got to be timeouts. I think they, when they do a timeout, they bring on a little entertainment onto the field real quick. bring some clowns out there
Starting point is 00:30:21 do a little thing with a clown car well they do if you're there they do do some things well I want to see it on TV yeah you know bring the clown car out yeah let a bull chase him around yeah
Starting point is 00:30:32 that's what they do at the rodeo yeah yeah you know but I agree Aaron I mean sports is like the one thing we got left that you know it kind of cuts through everything else yeah for a lot of people
Starting point is 00:30:45 and look if you're not into it that's perfectly fine just don't be one of these guys I appreciate you, Mark. Arden G. Last one. Arden G. Can I get a shout out on the hair episode? Nope. All right, we're done. I've got six foot long dreadlocks. I've not cut in over 20 years. I always tell people I'm going to be cousin it for Halloween. Yeah, let's see it. Let's see what we got here. We got a, uh, whoa. Wow. Yeah, I love that. That is wild. Love that. This guy is listening to our podcast.
Starting point is 00:31:20 Apparently. Yeah, very cool. I love that. That's awesome. I've always wanted to do some dreads. That's crazy. It's too late for me, Dusty, but you still have time. Arden, gee, I got a lot of questions.
Starting point is 00:31:32 Is that your maximum length? Does it get any longer than that? Could you keep going? You know what, a guy? I actually saw a guy when I was doing the show in Des Plains, Illinois. He had dreadlocks. And I made the comment to him, and he said, probably a lot of this hair is not actually attached anymore because of the dreads
Starting point is 00:31:53 it's probably separated but it's still held together just hanging on by a couple threads there at the top yeah but that's very impressive it's got a weigh 30 pounds when it's all balled up like that and you're uh what do you call that i also love that this guy's just out in the woods here with some overalls on that's what i'm talking about yeah i love that yeah that's cool man yeah i'm into it But, Arden. Well, thank you, Arden. All right. Let's get Leanna here.
Starting point is 00:32:25 Okay. All right, and we're back. Welcome. All right, before we get talking about this week's topic, well, first of all, welcome to the show. Leanne. Thank you. Thank you. You know, I feel like one of the coquins when I'm here.
Starting point is 00:32:39 Absolutely. You've been here for 30 seconds. We already got male menopause typed in on the computer. You know, I like to talk about HRT. I am a doctor. Okay. You used to have a medical podcast. Sweety and pissed, menopause and more.
Starting point is 00:32:55 And I apologize for that cuss word. Yeah. It's a clean podcast. That was the name of the podcast? That was the name of it. I love that. Because T. asked my baby, I said, I'm going to do this podcast.
Starting point is 00:33:05 What do you think? I should call it. And she said, why don't you call it sweaty and piss? Because that's what you are. Wow. And every time, it was pretty funny. You know, if I told about it on stage, Swinney and Piss, menopause and more,
Starting point is 00:33:15 women through their purse and there. Right. That's funny. You know. And it was informative and fun. Yeah. You know? Kind of like this podcast.
Starting point is 00:33:26 Yeah. Educational, but we throw in a little humor every now and then. People come at us sometimes like we are an educational podcast. They go, oh, you're spreading misinformation. And I go,
Starting point is 00:33:38 what are we even talking about? Yeah. Of course we are. Are we even talking about information? Yeah. Leanne. Season two is now out. Congratulations.
Starting point is 00:33:51 Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. A lot of fun cameos. I think my favorite episode was one with Billy Gardell. Oh, and he's so funny. And he's been doing some shows with you on the road. Yes, he hang us.
Starting point is 00:34:06 Because, you know, he was a stand-up. And first, and this is crazy, but I opened for him at Zanis, the first time I ever got on stage at a comedy club. I opened for him. T.S. was 18 months old. She'll be 29 in January. Wow. And I opened for Billy Gardnell. And he was wonderful to me. And I didn't even know what opened him was. I just called Zanis. And there was a girl named Tree who answered the phone. She was a butthole. And I said, hey, my darling. Is there any way that I could, you know, and she goes, don't call me darling. But anyway, then I got a hold of Brian Dorf. And he goes, yeah, I'll let you come. And I didn't know anything about drink specials or, you know, they had to tell me what to do. You were hosting. I was hosting. And I didn't even know what that means. Was it tree or leg? There was a lady that worked here for a long time.
Starting point is 00:34:52 There was leg, but I think that would have been later. Okay. Yeah. Yeah, this one was tree. Tree and leg. And she didn't like terms of endearment. Wow. Leg was professional.
Starting point is 00:35:02 Leg wouldn't have done that too. Yeah. Of course. Now, Tree. I haven't even heard of that person. Yeah. I like that. I don't know if she's here.
Starting point is 00:35:10 Did you bring that up to Billy Gardell? Is that fun to have a full circle moment with somebody like that? Yeah, there is. And look at all these years later, now he's on your show. I know. That's so cool. He's getting making a stand-up, and he did a couple of shows with me in Pensacola and was wonderful. And so, yeah, and then it was on my show because, you know, he was on Mike and Molly.
Starting point is 00:35:27 That was a Chuck Lori. And so they wanted him to play somebody that I went on a date with. And I thought he was wonderful. He was. Very funny. Well, I opened for him about eight years ago. So how long would that be before he's on my show? You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:35:44 Like 20 years. 21 more years. 21 more years. Okay, good. He's getting back out there. He's like saying yes now. Okay. Well, I don't have a show.
Starting point is 00:35:53 Oh, you may, I thought you meant live. I got to get a TV show and then he's so. Well, Dusty has a show in mine that's everyone loves. You want to tell her your show? Oh, my show called The Rearranger. Yeah. Yeah, where I go into people's houses and I don't, and it's a real mess or just unorganized and then I rearrange it.
Starting point is 00:36:13 I don't bring in new things. I don't, I just come in and I. I go, how could we make this better? And then I just rearrange it. So it's in the vein of trading spaces or a show like that, but I think the hook is you're not adding or taking away anything. And I have no real expertise at it. It's like, can I do it? Do you have a gift for that, my darling? I think so. I go to people's houses a lot of times and I go, you got to do something. I'll tell you, my family hates when I do it. When I go to my family's house and I go, If you put the TV on this wall, it would really be a lot better for this room.
Starting point is 00:36:49 And it would be, but they don't want to hear it. Well, that's authentic to you. And that's what would be a good show, my darling. I think it will be good. But I can't, you know, I can't get anybody to pick it up. There's a comedy club. Lowell, Arkansas, has a comedy club called The Grove, which has been nice to all of us. And there's a comedy club condo, which is an a-frame cabin, kind of in the woods.
Starting point is 00:37:12 And I stayed there one year, and then I came back the next year. And I was like, it's pretty nice in here. They spruced it up a little bit. Turns out it was dusty. I rearranged the condo while I was there. He went to a goodwill. He stocked up on some art. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:26 You, dang. I was there for like four days. And I was like, I can't be in this. This could all be better if I, if I just move some stuff around. I was like, man, they put a Native American artwork in this place. You know, you get what you can get at Arkansas Thrift store. But it was fun. Well, then you should do they.
Starting point is 00:37:46 I should do it. I need some streaming service to recognize my talent. I know. You need Chuck Lori to come to your house. Yeah, I want no script, you know. I don't want to memorize anything and I don't want to. No outline, no plan. I don't want to show up a lot, you know, just show day.
Starting point is 00:38:04 It's going to be an uphill battle, I think, getting the show made. No promotion around it. We're just doing a show. Yeah, I get it. Yeah. I get it. It's a lot. Yeah. Well, you had Billy Gardell, Lainey Wilson.
Starting point is 00:38:18 Little darling, Lainey Wilson. Aaron's buddy, Lainey Wilson. I've known her a long time. She dated the best man of my wedding. She dated him on and off for like five years. So I met her when she first moved to Nashville. She was living in a little camper van behind a music studio. Yes, I've heard that camper story.
Starting point is 00:38:34 So I met her like right away. And I used to go to some of her shows around Nashville and nobody was there. And we always thought she was like unbelievable. So it's been very cool to see her. her, you know, blow up. And then I saw her on Family Feud with you, right? Yeah. And then on the show, it's just, it's very cool.
Starting point is 00:38:51 It's a small world. And the fact that she's your friend seems to make her more authentic to me. You know, I am pretty down on all country singers. And it makes her very authentic to me to know that you guys are like hitting it off and her friends. Oh, I thought you're talking to me. You too. You too.
Starting point is 00:39:09 I feel like God has given me discernment. Yes. Right. I feel like God gave me discernment. Sarnment. That's one of my camps. And I could tell by the first time I met her, she's who she says she is. 100%. I see a lot online. People go, the accents, fake, all that. And you go, no, dude, that's how she talks. So that's very cool. And her little mom and daddy are darling. Yeah, they're great. I met her mom and her sister. And it's crazy. Yeah. And she rides horses for real. And they're farming people. And her daddy works at the bank and her mom's a school teacher.
Starting point is 00:39:41 You know, life insurance is one of those things. Most of us don't think about until something makes it feel real. Maybe it's a conversation with your spouse or parents, a loss of someone close to you, or a big milestone like having a kid or buying a house. What kind of conversation? Sorry. Just whatever it is. Those moments have a way of making you realize it's something worth looking into. I have life insurance. It makes me feel safe since I'm constantly traveling and have the comfort knowing my family would be taken care of no matter what. If I didn't have life insurance, I'd have to worry what would happen to my family if we did not have but it gives me such peace of mind.
Starting point is 00:40:16 Yeah. Ethos makes getting life insurance fast and easy. It's 100% online. You can get a quote in seconds, apply in minutes, and get same day coverage. There's no medical exam. You just answer a few simple health questions.
Starting point is 00:40:29 You can get up to $3 million in coverage. Wow. Some policies are as low as $30 a month. So take 10 minutes to get covered today with life insurance through ethos. Get your free quote at ethos.com slash nateland. That's E-T-H-O-S.com
Starting point is 00:40:47 slash nateland. Application times may vary. Rates may vary. And two more cameos I'm going to mention Karen Mills. Little Kay. Yeah. Which I did great.
Starting point is 00:40:58 I wish I had a note. I had already seen online. She posted. And I wish I hadn't known it because it had been a fun surprise. But then Chuck was in it. He was a bartender. Chuck Morgan got a line. I did not approve of that.
Starting point is 00:41:10 And then after it was over, where he goes, let them know that I'm available for future episodes. I was like, all my kids, all my adult children are in background. Charlie's in the one with Billy Gardell's in the restaurant. And then Maggie and Tess are in the diner when we bust in that diner door to take care of Jesse, thinking her boyfriend's cheating on her.
Starting point is 00:41:34 So they're in that one. That feels like the real dream, you know, to be able to get your whole family on a show. Yeah. Yeah. And then you all remember, y'all are too young probably, but Tyne Daly. Oh, yeah. Tim Daly's big sister, America's sweetheart, Cagnin Lacey.
Starting point is 00:41:48 She was on it and wonderful. My heartbeat out of my body over her. And I'm trying to think, was there anybody else? I think that's probably, we want so many other people. But, you know, when you get 10 episodes on, you don't have a lot. They call it real estate. And you've got to figure out what you're going to do in that real estate, you know. Well, we're not pushing for.
Starting point is 00:42:11 Ryan to get a spot. You don't have to. I'm pretty booked up as it is, guys. I don't know if I can even work it in. The man who plays your father is a stand-up comic. Blake Clark is brilliant in it. I don't know if y'all have seen it, but he is brilliant. He's in a lot of Adam Sandler movies. Like 51st dates. He was through Barrymore's dad. 100%. He's in all Adams. He uses him for everything, and then that he's ever filmed. And then he did stand-up for 30 years. He was the doorme at the comedy store. And he always tells this.
Starting point is 00:42:47 He was on Johnny Carson the first time he didn't have an agent. Somebody came by and let him, and then next night he was a doorman again. But he is also Slinky on Toy Story. Toy Story. Yeah, yeah. The first slinky was Jim Barney.
Starting point is 00:43:04 Oh, yeah. And then he passed away, and then Blake took over. Wow. And then Celia Weston that plays my mother is an award-winning, Broadway and film actress and has been over 100 films. And she is brilliant.
Starting point is 00:43:17 They are magic. We have them a lot in this season because people love them so much. And we wanted to tackle. Nobody's ever talking about like being caregivers. People my age are caregiving with their elderly parents and then they're trying to launch children. So we wanted to talk about that. My parents were talking to me about it today.
Starting point is 00:43:38 They loved the show. My mom and dad watched it all together. They loved it because they're dealing with a lot of the same things that your character is dealing with in that season, with aging parents and not figuring out, you know, what to do and all that. So it's all great. It's good stuff. Oh, good, y'all. Well, I'm tinkled.
Starting point is 00:43:53 I thought it. I was very proud of it. You should be. Is there going to be a season three? I don't, I think we'll find out in the next week or so, I think. And, you know, it's not like old-timey, like NBC, like just ratings or viewership. It all depends on also what's in the budget. Are they buying NFL?
Starting point is 00:44:11 games or they do it. It's so much more to it than you think. So I don't, I don't know if I'm going to get a third seat. I would think I was in the top 10 for two weeks. That pastor from South Carolina was number one. Last time I had to compete against those girls that were killing boys in their panties, the hunting wives. And I get competitive. I mean, I was like, I cannot believe because I thought, I'm going to hit number one. And how could I, they were doing, nasty, horrible things. That's what gets them now. And then that South Carolina pastor, that is twisted.
Starting point is 00:44:50 I watched that documentary. If you watched it, it is twisted. It's wild. Do you think he's innocent or guilty? I think he's guilty. I know. I'm shocked. Somebody hadn't rounded him up now doing, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:45:03 He's twisted. His sermons were so. They were wild. Wild. What would he said? and like women need to stuff, sexual stuff to their husband or he'll stray. And I mean, just. He's saying women, if you don't do X, Y, Z to your husband, Satan's going to put 10 things between him and you later that day.
Starting point is 00:45:26 And it was a sermon called Stinking Thinking. Wow. I know that because of the PowerPoint behind him on stage. I check this guy out. Not a documentary. What's his YouTube? Dessie's looking for a church. I mean, it doesn't even seem real.
Starting point is 00:45:43 It was so stupid. And then he'd get on the piano. He was a good musician. They'd get on there and then sing and then sing and then. Still got like 25 people that go to his church. Isn't that crazy? Oh, my Lord. A few people are like, they're probably old and they're like, what am I going to do?
Starting point is 00:45:58 Change now. He had affairs on his wives. Oh, multiple. I like the idea, though, that he says something so crazy and then sits down the piano plays a song. And everybody's like, oh, that's a good song. Praise and worship. Yeah, this is a good song. But I was in the top 10.
Starting point is 00:46:14 For two weeks, that's good. I don't know what foreign country I was big in. This time, they did tell me Bahamas. I was rating good in the Bahamas. All right. Last time was Slovenia and Tel Aviv. Wow. Isn't that crazy?
Starting point is 00:46:29 Slovenia. You're going to go do some shows out there. Where is it? I was in the top ten globally, and that's good to hit the top ten. I don't know if I was in it very long. That's awesome. Yeah, because something like four seasons, you know, with Tina Faye. If that goes global a long time, you know.
Starting point is 00:46:46 We were in a movie called The Breadwinner. I know. It's number two on Netflix. All right. I know. I saw that this morning. Debates bump. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:56 Leanne's going back to number one after this podcast, right, Brian? That's right. This is all it takes. Yeah, I mean, maybe in season three, maybe there is room for somebody, you know, cleaning up trash or something. I was trash collector, too. in the movie. So I don't want to get
Starting point is 00:47:09 typecast, but I would consider it. I do think I'm getting typecast as an older woman that flirts. I really do. I think that's right on. You know, I love me and I love me in all my life. I am a flirt. But I just did a movie with
Starting point is 00:47:27 Glenn Powell and Juddapital. And they've got me, I'm an older woman that's flirt. But it's easy to flirt with little Glenn pale and a pair of pant. So cute. You know when country music, Western people wear those little polyester bridges, not many people look good at those.
Starting point is 00:47:48 Yeah. He does. Polyester bridge, I'm trying to think of what that looks like. Like a rhinestone. Yeah. Like Ed Hardy jeans? Is that what I'm thinking? No, no.
Starting point is 00:47:57 It's a polyester. It's a suit. Like a... Pull up a polyester gene right there. I want to see what we're talking about. Like Roy A. Cuff, back in the day, Roy A.Cuff, Porter Wagner. Yeah. Yeah, it's the polyester with the rhinestones.
Starting point is 00:48:11 A little western tree on them. We're going to have to get more into Western polyester pant is what I would do. Western. Okay. I think I would do pant, not Jean. Yeah, right there. Oh, okay. Remember that kind of?
Starting point is 00:48:30 The green one. Yeah. I mean, look at that. You would see every nook and cranny and bump and boogity. in my britches. That would not be a flattering pant for me. I need more of a jinko. You know, I got a, you almost don't even want to know I have legs in there.
Starting point is 00:48:47 They're not even trying to sell those pants to me. I've never seen those in my life. Still won't be drag around. Like Dwight Yockem would wear a, he wore jeans, jeans, but they would be very tight. Tight. Yeah. Oh, look at her. Well, that's what I would look like.
Starting point is 00:49:03 That's me with that drop crotch right there. but thank the Lord that I'll be 61 in October the 3rd. All right. Happy birthday, Leah. Thank you. And nobody expects me to be the sex symbol, you know. And I think of myself in my head. Oh, I'm 19.
Starting point is 00:49:23 I'm the it girl. Right. No. And then I realize, no, I'm a grandmother. And that's a safe place to be. Yes. Well, we have. Nobody puts me in those pants.
Starting point is 00:49:35 Aaron brought up last week how when he watches dancing with the stars he didn't really get what you're supposed to get out of watching people dance and I don't disagree with me. I said this to me. I know what you got fooled up here. Because
Starting point is 00:49:51 because Leanne competed in a dance competition. Don't bring that up. Brian Bates. I just had a hernia surgery. What are you talking about? And my teenage girls, they were frankly. nude.
Starting point is 00:50:07 So you're not proud of this? I raised money for children's hospital and I'm proud of that. But that was a stressful time. And let me tell you why it was stressful. Local newspaper and local people in a dancing with the stars kind of competition like go after your throat.
Starting point is 00:50:24 Like I had no idea that people like judging you. Like competing against you and saying crap to you and chat talking you. Wow. And like, what do you mean coming in here with a bandage on? I go, I just had a hernia repair.
Starting point is 00:50:44 So these people. They thought I was doing it to like get a one-up on. It was like don't-eat-don. So you mean they're like local news people are like the Knoxville celebrities and they're competing with you. And they're mad because you came in with a wound. Yeah. And they go, I know what you're doing.
Starting point is 00:51:03 One of them said to me, I know what you're doing. Wow. I know what you're, and I was going, I couldn't even get my breath because they cut through your abdomen muscles. It was one of the worst surgeries I've ever had in my life. And I was like, I had a fever. And I didn't want to not do what I was supposed to do for Children's Hospital.
Starting point is 00:51:21 And my girls were coming with me and learned to dance. In two days, it was the most stressful thing I've ever been through in my life. And, yeah, one of them said to me, I know you're doing this, like, get a head. And I was like, what? You're playing the sympathy. guard at a fundraiser for East Tennessee Children's Hospital. Who won? Do you remember?
Starting point is 00:51:39 She did. That person. That person I came in second. And then he goes, we're good, right? At the end, I got, yeah, we're good. Wow. Like, we did a thing where you could decorate cupcakes at this cupcake place, and some of the dancers were there and competing.
Starting point is 00:51:57 And the local TV people were like, because nobody was in my line to get my, their cupcake decorated by me. I don't know. Was this even make sense? We were raising money and nobody was in my line. They were all in the local TV people's lines and the local celebrities and there's always a UT football player or a UT coach or something like that. Nobody was in my line. Nobody cared. It was when I couldn't get arrested. Okay. Classic comedy stuff. And the local news was there, they were like, why is no one in your line? I mean, mean as snakes. Wow. Wow. They take take it very seriously. So I came out, oh my gosh, look at that. I'd been eating a lot of white
Starting point is 00:52:38 flour. And I, Brian, and Maggie and Tess stepped in. Look at my, my guy that was my dance partner was a doll. And we were supposed to do Earth went in fire, September, the cha-cha. And we were practicing, and you practiced at night, and you begged for money during the day. It was so stressful. And then something just popped one night and I couldn't get my breath and my doctor said oh you're going to have emergency surgery you've got a with a kind that bust through and I had to do that and then they all chastise me over it you got a hernia dancing it I think I think I had a weakness from doing crossfit okay this was in my mid 40s pre-paraminal pulse dusting yeah I was competing in crossfit and I was
Starting point is 00:53:29 jerking and cleaning too much and I think that I got some weakness in the abdominal wall. And then Daniel flung me real hard during the cha-cha. And I heard something snap, but I thought, well, I don't know. That maybe what is that? And then the next morning woke up and it was like this thing like right here. And I remember calling my friend and I said, I think it's backed up poop because I've always had trouble with that. And then she said, I'm looking on my iPad, on MD, whatever thing that you can look up.
Starting point is 00:54:02 And she goes, I think you've got a hernia. But your kids got to be involved. Yeah, and they didn't want to be. So you got. Well, that baby, the middle one ended up, she has always. She shoved you out of the way. Yes, that was part of the gig, part of the gag. Oh, and let me tell you all, the guy, remember on State Farm Insurance commercials?
Starting point is 00:54:28 Jake? No, before him. Who was the white Jake? Yes. Okay. State farm guy was one of, or farmers. We are farmers. J.K. Simmons?
Starting point is 00:54:39 One of the, yeah, he was national commercials. He was a judge and said, well, you didn't dance. So he gave me like a four. And I thought, are y'all all crazy? Not any of those boys. Okay. It's this guy. Now that's the AT&T guy.
Starting point is 00:54:56 Now, Dennis has. Is it farmers? What else do you have? State Farm and then charge. Charlie, his name was Charlie on one of the insurance things. That boy. That man.
Starting point is 00:55:11 Oh, the guy who said, well, you didn't really date. Oh, this is the guy. I was like, what the? I've been practicing for weeks. I just got a hurry up this week. This guy leaves the $100 tip. Yes, every Christmas. He's like, oh, he's so nice and he treated you that way. Yes. Yes. Yes. Oh, Farmer Charlie.
Starting point is 00:55:29 He's been doing it for years. People need to know about this guy, because he plays it up so like, I'm so generous. I mean, I didn't even have to come out there, y'all. I just had major surgery. But I didn't because I love the little children. You got hurt dancing, got surgery, went back out there. Follow through.
Starting point is 00:55:49 There should have been like some award just for this, like if an athlete does this. Oh, we go nuts for it. Oh, comeback player of the year. He should get an espie. Yeah. Yeah. You should have got an espie. I should have got an espie.
Starting point is 00:56:04 I said you got insulted by this guy. You got insulted by this. I know. And then the next, it was either the next year or a year two after that, they wanted me to judge, and I was kind, Hiller. And that was our big old mayor, Glenn Jacobs in Knoxville, who's our mayor, who was Kane. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:24 And you're talking about waste this big and looks like Superman. And he does so much for Children's Hospital. precious and then Morgan Wallen. Little Morgan Wallin, honey. And he was dancing and then Phil Fullmer's daughter. Back when he had dusty sleigh hair, right? He had that long hair back in the day.
Starting point is 00:56:43 I think he had more of a mullet though, right? No, he had long hair like you. He had long hair at one time. He and I had done a show together. He used to do comedy too. Southern one-liners. Yeah. He did.
Starting point is 00:56:54 Or you kid. No, I'm just. Morgan Wall and I did a show together. I don't even know if we got paid $250 each. Maybe it was either that or nothing. And he had gotten thrown off the voice. And he was so sweet. And he was in the back.
Starting point is 00:57:08 And he goes, I mow. I've got some mowing equipment. And I went to Rhone State. He played baseball. Yeah. And he said, I'm going to try to make it national. I remember thinking, how's that little thing? People are living on the street in Nashville trying to make it.
Starting point is 00:57:24 Lady Wilson was in a camper and a Walmart parking lot. It just made me feel bad because he's the same age as my children. And he said, I'm going to try to make it. And he goes, but I've got a lot of mowing equipment. I'm still mowing. And I said, I'm going to make you a casserole. I mean, oh, it was so precious. But anyway, yeah, then I went on to, and they don't have it anymore.
Starting point is 00:57:44 But it went for years and it sold out. You could not get a ticket to it. Wow. I can't believe this guy treated you like that. I know, I know. He, like, because everybody else gave eight, you know, seven even. He was like, I'm going to give you a four because you really didn't dance. Your daughter's dance.
Starting point is 00:58:02 I was like, okay. The lady in the commercial is like, I don't know how I'm going to pay for my rent this month. And then he leaves $100. And his son goes, you left $100, dad. I don't understand. He goes, someday you will, son. And he just makes himself out to be so nice.
Starting point is 00:58:19 This really exposes him. I hope he watches. I hope he's a watcher. Well, just know, Charlie, everything worked out for me. That's right. That's right. Morgan Wallen's like, this lady made me a casserole roll because she would believe in me.
Starting point is 00:58:33 I just, I knew he was talented. I was just worried. Because like being stand-ups, when somebody asks you, should I get into stand-up, you're like, you don't want to squash somebody's dream, but you're like, do you understand that this is a gut-wrenching? It is wonderful, and it is, you know, if you've got that passion and you really want to do it, do it.
Starting point is 00:58:53 But this is hard. It's a lot of nose, a lot of ups and downs. You hate to see a young person go through that. But I don't want to squash anybody's dream either. But that's how I felt about it. I like to ask people, I go, what else do you got going on? And if they tell me and it's not good, I go, you know what? Give comedy a try.
Starting point is 00:59:10 That's what worked for me. You're going to fizzle out anyway. Give it a try. Yeah. You know, Dusty's always raving about his Helix mattress. Non-stop. It's a good mattress. It is.
Starting point is 00:59:21 Well, now it's finally my turn to talk about it. Having the right mattress is what can make or break your night. I've had my mattress for four years now, and every year it's, it seems to just somehow get better. That's why I love my Helix mattress. Ruth and I have the Helix Midnight Lux. There's a reason Helix is the most awarded mattress brand. So now, go to Helixleep.com slash Nate for their prime time, best of the web sell from October 6 to October 11th for 27% off sitewide. Wow. This is exclusive for listeners of our show. that's helixleeksleep.com slash
Starting point is 01:00:28 Nate for 27% off sitewide from October 6th to the 11th. This is for the primetime best of the web. And again, it's exclusive for listeners of our show, Helixleysleep.com slash Nate. But it's a sweet community, isn't it? It is a sweet community. I've always known about comedy.
Starting point is 01:00:48 Like if you, like I've noticed some real loser kind of guys that would come and hang out at open mics. I didn't mean to look at you, but I, But they, you know, they're never good, but they keep showing up week after week. And then they're like, everybody's their friend. And you're like, become their friend. And they're never good, but you found a community. And as long as you keep showing up and you keep bombing in front of everybody, they respect you.
Starting point is 01:01:13 Uh-huh. Yeah. And look at you now. Right on here. Right on. But it's like, I'm talking people that never, they never do anything. They might be on the open mic scene for 30 years, but they got all these friends. And that's probably what they want more than even.
Starting point is 01:01:29 Yeah. That have never gotten a real laugh. In their life. They're getting farther and farther away from it as they go. Outside of even stand-up comedy, they're not making people laugh. Not at work, not at a family dinner. And they get all the times, you go, I killed. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:46 And everybody's like, yeah. You killed the energy. But it's a sweet community because I can call in it. of y'all and go, I just ate it. I'm going to quit. And y'all go, no, no, no, don't quit. I could call any of y'all, and y'all would know what I've been through. All my girlfriends in Knoxville, I've raised my children with it that I love. I can't call them. They don't understand. I could call Little Kay. Little Kay has been my lifeboat. And then I could call any of y'all and say, this was awful. Men that make carpet fiber did not get me.
Starting point is 01:02:20 I think I've done that gig. Yeah. Half were Japanese and did not speak English. But you know those stories and that you can talk that. All too well. Yeah. And it's our language and it's nobody else's language. Sometimes they all speak English.
Starting point is 01:02:39 They understand what I'm saying. Very well. Yeah. I'm thinking, let me do some of Brian Bates material because I don't know why anybody would hire a woman for men that make carpet fiber. You know, I don't think I ran, I ran through that material pretty quick. You know, I was supposed to do 45. I'm like 20 going, oh, God.
Starting point is 01:03:01 Yeah, I mean, I do a lot of time. And then sometimes you do a corporate and you're like, whoa, that hour and a half that I normally do, that burned up quick. Where did that go? Dusty's doing over two hours now. Not over two hours. But I do 90-minute shows. That's what I do. You do?
Starting point is 01:03:18 Yeah. I've done corporates where I think I've told this before but it goes so bad I just launched it to Henry Cho's material like I start you know anybody here been married really long time and then they'll say I'm like well sir what happened were you in prison but you know I mean do his voice I do everything and I it was not like a noise it was not pre-planned but I was just so desperate I'm like I just got to do you're reaching for anything yeah you know yeah when I do those corporates now they go we want you to do an hour and I I go, look, I'll do whatever you want me to do. But I've done enough of these. I think right around 30 is going to be the sweet spot. So I'll keep going, but I want it to be the best show possible. So let's go closer to that.
Starting point is 01:04:00 They tell Dusty that. And they go, oh, that's great. An hour and a half would be better. Yeah. You're out in theaters right now. You're doing an hour and a half. Yeah. I do about 70.
Starting point is 01:04:11 Yeah. 75. But I... But you've earned it. Well, you're not. I'm unorganized. I'm kidding. I'm unorganized.
Starting point is 01:04:18 I'm, I'm unorganized. I'm, I'm unorganized and talking out of my butt. You probably got it more organized than I do. Well, I like, that's how you can build up more material. You know, you just keep it going. And then when you record a special, you've got, you know, 30 to 45 minutes. To start your next.
Starting point is 01:04:33 To start the next one. Yeah. True. And you're ready to go. He brings an opener on the road. The opener goes out and says, welcome to the theater. Now please welcome Dusty Slay. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:44 Busty takes over. That's what I want to do. I do want to do. I'm just the only. You call my name and I come out. No, nobody else on the show. I'm not ready yet, but that's what I want. That sounds like a lonely life.
Starting point is 01:04:56 No, I like it. Sitting the back, by myself. Nobody with you? Staring at the wall. I love that. Go to a hotel, sit in the back, buy a dumpster, and smoke a cigar. That's fine. What's on your rider?
Starting point is 01:05:10 Just one bottle of water? Yeah, give me a couple. I do chug some waters, but... You don't have any cheese? I'll take some grapes. I like grapes. Okay, okay. A few grapes before show.
Starting point is 01:05:20 Yeah. Leanne, I did a corporate in Alabama, and I got there, and the lady was very nice, but she goes, yeah, I got all your stuff you requested. I go, I didn't request anything. I got sent a writer, just like a boilerplate writer, right? And I go, what was on it? She goes, well, it's very specific. It said, you needed five Diet Coke's and some sandwiches. So they had five Diet Coke and then a sandwich platter back there.
Starting point is 01:05:51 Just me and one other guy. He was like, he wants to diegoe and a sandwich. That's what he wants. Just some sandwiches. Yeah. I don't even care what kind. He put it between bread. He'll eat it.
Starting point is 01:06:04 What do you have? What do you have backstage? Is there more to that? Like, where do they get that? I mean, I took the sandwiches with me on the way home. Yeah, but that wasn't a mistake. It was just the boilerplate writer that was set on behalf of me to this group. And they thought I was the weirdest guy ever.
Starting point is 01:06:19 They just saw the headshot and they go, I don't know. There better not be six Diet Coke's in that green room. They better be five there. Yeah, what do you have, Leanne? What's the spread look like in the green room at the show these days? Well, you know, my babies with me all the time. She's my makeup artist. And she's on a protein thing.
Starting point is 01:06:34 She's dating. So she'll want so many little cottage cheese like high protein. Okay. She has a half a gallon of fair life milk because she makes protein shakes. And then she'll say hard-bolled eggs. And then she'll get on a thing where that doesn't sound good to her. And we've got all these hard-bole-d-ings. And I'm like, should I start bringing my own mustard and relish and mayonnaise and making an egg salad, which I could.
Starting point is 01:07:03 Okay. And then I always have cheese and crackers. I'm going to say cottage cheese, hard-wold eggs, and milk. That just sounds, that sounds gross. That sounds like, wow. She's, you know, in a lot of weddings lately. Lee. She's dating. She's courting. Yeah. She's got, always got these protein powders. I don't eat that. Yeah. I'm eating. There's a fruit. They'll do a fruit plate, a veggie plate with a little ranch stamp.
Starting point is 01:07:28 Oh, yeah. And some cheese, assorted cheeses with a cracker. And I said gluten-free, which is a lie. I should be gluten-free and I don't do it. And then when Greg warns with me, he eats all the gluten-free. crackers you go why are you doing this to me and he loves them and then I do like Tass will like a Dr. Pepper Zero and I will have a caffeine free Coke Zero but I usually
Starting point is 01:07:54 take that the next day in my hotel room A little tree but there's no alcohol there's no dope yeah there's no it used to be when little Kay you know I'd go out and they think I had her writer and I'd have
Starting point is 01:08:10 Corona. Oh yeah, coronas with limes. Little K, who's the size of them, would have one corona and they'd get her six and go,
Starting point is 01:08:19 what are we going to do with all these coronas? And we would try to carry them with us, which is crazy. And then there when I started Big Panny Tour, I did,
Starting point is 01:08:29 I think Outback gave me a bottle of wine and chocolates every time. And I was eating them. And I was coming out of COVID and I was sweaty looking. I was sweaty looking. And uncrustables.
Starting point is 01:08:40 And, And then we went through an uncrustables thing because the nutritionist told me, oh, just a little before show if you don't want to eat a lot, some whole wheat bread, peanut butter, and jelly. Well, I didn't want to pack all that with me. So then we started getting encrustables, which is full of God knows what. So I've gone through several things. You're right.
Starting point is 01:08:59 Yeah, I did have uncrustables. And I do love an uncrustable. Have you ever toasted one? Uh-huh. Somebody told me to do that. This week we're talking about marriage. It's hard. It's hard.
Starting point is 01:09:10 Seems like a weird time. Like Aaron goes, I'm going to step out of the room. And Brian goes, this week we're talking about marriage. Like it got like some kind of intervention. Yeah. You know, get Aaron out of here. You don't know anything about it. I love that color on you.
Starting point is 01:09:25 Thank you. We were just saying that. I don't. Brian said he didn't like the shirt. I'm not too comfortable in this year. I did a commercial for sheets and they gave me a bunch of shirts. And they just were like, hey, here's a bunch of shirts for, you to try and see if you want to wear them in the commercial.
Starting point is 01:09:42 And then at the end, they go, just take them all with you. And Pearl Button, I love that. Yeah. Okay, sheets. Is that that that mid, that's the, it's a gas station, yeah, pizza place. Oh, okay. Okay.
Starting point is 01:09:56 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And it's stand up in the bathroom. That was what the commercial was. They were saying their bathrooms were so clean that you could do a comedy show in there. Oh. So did they compete against Beck?
Starting point is 01:10:10 created. So I don't think so. I don't think Buckees is up in that area. And to be honest, you know, I'm not a big Buckees fan. I like, you know, I think it's fun in there. But it's, I like a sheets. Is it sheets that I did? I think it is sheets. I just want to make sure that it is. Even though there's yummy cute clothes in a Bunkies for little children at Christmas. You know what? One time, on the way down to Alabama, my son was in diapers at the time. wild and he messed up his shirt and we stopped at Bucky's got a new shirt changed him in there back on the rub so shout out to Buckees for that yeah they've got pajamas and bathing suits yeah so we're talking about marriage how many years have you and Chuck Morgan be married um go it will be 35 in April wow yeah 35 dusty howling you and Hannah sorry to put your spot oh nine years now we'll be 10 next year. Wow.
Starting point is 01:11:11 So that's how that works. But yeah. He's good at numbers. Yeah. Huh. I've been, we've been married six and a half. So we're the ex-
Starting point is 01:11:20 You got a good one, honey, and you got a good one. Yeah. Have you always called Chuck, Chuck Morgan? Chuck Morgan, Chuck Kina. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:29 Chuck Kina because that sounds fun and he's not. Yeah. So I thought that was funny. He's a very serious person. You know, just since you've complimented our significant others. And I don't know Chuck Morgan that well, but I think he's a good one too. He's a good one. And if you said, I need you to come and take these babies, I got to go to the hospital. He would do it. I believe that. He's a rider die. He's a writer die. If you said,
Starting point is 01:11:54 we need you, Chuck Morgan, he'd go do it. He's a helper. I believe that. Uh-huh. And he's always supported me in all of this. I do think he's getting the big head. I think I'm making him into a folk hero. And I didn't mean to. Oh, yeah. But evidently, everybody's dad yells about the garage door being open and doesn't want anybody to spend any money. And people love Chuck. Yeah. What I say about Chuck.
Starting point is 01:12:21 And they go, I'm married to Chuck Morkin. I'm married to the same man. We love Chuck. Can we meet Chuck? Every podcast I'm on. Is Chuck make that when I did Smartless with Justin Bateman? And all them, they were like, is Chuck there? Can we speak to Chuck?
Starting point is 01:12:36 Oh, yeah. Do you think if Chuck, started an Instagram, it would blow up. Probably. And I could film him like burning trash and the love a party. The Chuck Morgan. Uh-huh. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:49 You're, I don't know if I should tell him that. But yeah, I think it would. Just stuff like that, exactly. Burning trash, telling people to close the garage door, adjusting the thermostat. Uh-huh. He should start his own podcast. He doesn't talk.
Starting point is 01:13:04 That'd be difficult. It would be a short one. It would be. He thinks before he says, speaks. You know, he's very introverted. He's witty. He can be, he can be really funny. It's, it's far in between and we savour it when it happens. Okay, and then Chuck Lori fell in love with him. He loves him. Yeah. So, marriage rates are, at least the United States, at all time, low. People are not getting married? Fewer marriages than any time in recorded history.
Starting point is 01:13:33 The country's falling apart. Because I think little children are not out clubbing. Yeah. Everybody needs to get back. back to clubbing. Yeah. Everybody needs to get back. Our preacher said that Sunday. Honey, and do that. That's mating.
Starting point is 01:13:46 They're too afraid they're going to get filmed now. You know, you're out dancing and somebody record you on their phone and post it and shares it. Now you're shamed everywhere. When I was drinking, you could just be wild. Be wild. And no one knows. Oh, no.
Starting point is 01:14:03 And I think it's important for, you know, to be young and get out and mingle and do. They say nobody's getting out. and going to, you know, even if you go to a bar and you're not drinking or whatever, but you're meeting, you know, and flirting and doing. They could just get married right after high school, which is what I recommend. Get married, have kids, and let's rebuild the country. You know what I mean? That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 01:14:27 He says that a lot. The median age for the first time marriage has climbed to 30.2 years old for men and 28.6 for women. that's the highest it's ever been. So people are getting married later in life. Now, I skewed some of those numbers by getting married at 48, but... Every family should have 10 kids. That's what I think.
Starting point is 01:14:51 Yeah. And then we got to make it cheaper to have kids. The hospital, they're like, they're making that money out here. Are you going to have seven more? No, I mean, I'm not. I don't think I'm allowed. I don't think my wife's going to allow it,
Starting point is 01:15:01 but I'm just saying for other people, they should be doing that. I want 10. I say, let's keep it going. We're already. stressed. What's seven more going to do, really? I know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:15:12 Have you ever heard Jim Gab can do that bit about when he had his fifth one? It's like being in a pool and somebody, you're drowning and somebody hands you a baby. Yeah. Oh, yeah. That's a funny thing. When he had his fifth one. Did it get easier?
Starting point is 01:15:27 Y'all both have three kids. Did it? And I only have one. When you have a second one, is it twice the work? Or can you, can they play with each other a little bit? I don't think it's twice the work, but it doesn't get easier. And now my two kids that are older, they do play with each other a lot. But now we got a baby.
Starting point is 01:15:48 They say three is the hardest. That's what people say. They say because three is the hardest. Once you get to four, it's about the same. Yeah. I've heard that too. Yeah. I've heard old women say four, five, and six raise themselves.
Starting point is 01:16:01 Yeah. Because everybody's in a... But I mean, I'm raised minor on close in age, and it was a blur. But, you know, I did it. Lord, it was all right. I mean, I would do it a million times over. It's a great time. Great time. And now you're out doing what you're doing now and your daughter gets to come with you and it's fun.
Starting point is 01:16:21 Even that dancing thing that you don't like, they still were doing it with you. Yeah. That's fun. I know. That was fun. Yeah. And they can be on the television show. And where did Tess meet her boyfriend?
Starting point is 01:16:34 Down in Florida when we were on vacation last year. Oh. Mm-hmm. Clubbing? No. He worked at the resort where we were saying it. Oh, okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:46 And she's very tickled. Yeah. And he's a Louisiana boy. I love that. Love Louisiana. I do too. That's a fun place. Yeah, he's a doll.
Starting point is 01:16:55 And they just sat in FaceTime and giggle and talk and do. And my makeup sometimes looks okay. No, she does a good job, but she's very tickled. And she wants to marry and have a baby. Yeah. Yeah. 10. Yeah, I love that. Everyone has a moment in their home when it can become a challenge. Young people say the reason they're not getting married is economic pressure, financial instability, high living costs, student debt, and social and digital fatigue. Dating app exhaustion, social isolation is barriers, things like that. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:18:54 Terrible. Yeah, I know. Get off the app. Get off. I mean, social media, and I know we need it, and there's some wonderful things about it, like cabbage recipes this fall. Yeah. You know? I love a good crock pole.
Starting point is 01:19:07 recipe. But don't you know that where's little children out? Young people. Yeah. I mean, just get off the apps and just meet people in real life. Go out and see people. I met my wife in real life, even after doing the dating apps. I did both. My wife, a friend fixed us up and then we reconnected 11 years later on the dating apps. Wow. Yeah. So I don't know both. I didn't know that. You never heard my joke? No, I know the joke, but I didn't know that you met in real life and then later connected on the apps. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:19:40 Chuck Morgan and I were at UT and working in the same restaurant. I was working there and then he came to go back to get an MBA and he saw me and barely said a word. Evidently he was in love with me. Stalked me. After that, did all my side work, cleaned the women's bathrooms out for me. Yeah. You know.
Starting point is 01:20:03 Yeah. What was, oh, you both servers? Mm-hmm. Yeah. And I made more money because I'm a talker, but he was more efficient and one like waiter of the year because he would say, my name is Chuck Morgan. The soup is black bean. What do you want to drink? So he could flip more tables. And I would go up and go, my name is Leanne. They'd go, where are you from? Adams, Tennessee, home of the bell witch, part of Tennessee history. Andrew Jackson went to investigate wagon wheels locked up. You know, and then the managers were looking at me like, Move it along. Uh-huh, because I wanted to talk to people. But also, you know, I waited tables a lot. And I can say, you know, being an attractive woman helps so much with tips.
Starting point is 01:20:47 Because I was a good waiter. And the girls I worked with, I'm not saying they weren't good, but they made so much more money than me. Because they're just, we're attractive. And guys were like walking in going, take some of this money. Take some of this money before you take my order. Yeah. I bet you made good tips.
Starting point is 01:21:08 I made, yeah, I did well, but it was a restaurant called Grady's that was on a weight all day long. Yeah, that's a very popular restaurant in Knoxville. And it, you know, the ball, I worked every ball game. I hardly ever got to go to UT games, but it's because you made so much money that day. You know, and everybody wanted to work those. Oh, yeah. Yeah. And I would smoke cigarettes behind the dumpster with the line cooks, you know, that had been in jail, and that was fun.
Starting point is 01:21:34 Yeah. You know, I got to hear what they had done. loved it. I think it is a good business to be in, like when you're young and you treat people nicer. I think it's good for sales. I think it teaches you a lot of good things. I think so, too. But then I didn't want my children to do it because there's also an underbelly of, you know, people dating and doing.
Starting point is 01:21:55 I got caught up in that for, you know, 10 years, and it got wild. It's a good time, though. It is a good time. People dating, dating managers. Yeah. Everybody's, you know, but they're young too. I mean, they weren't doing anything nasty, but you know what I mean. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:22:14 Everybody go afterwards and drink all night and spend all their money. I've never been a drinker. I would smoke and eat a chicken wing and talk, you know. But Chuck Morgan would budget what he could drink because he's a money person and saved his money. And he was paying my rent. You know, he fell in love with me and would pay my rent. And then wait tables for him. me like if I had a test you go let me do your tables and I'll your shift and I'll give you the
Starting point is 01:22:40 money that kind of stuff wow what a guy he was pursuing me yeah he's a hunter and a gather yeah yeah yeah you know let's look at um some dues and don't some marriage I want to get your opinion both of you have your opinion if this is okay it seems little much right away I don't know if there's a make-out session right there tickle yep that's a successful marriage so this is the first. I would say that's a first or second date. Connect daily. Do you and Chuck Morgan talk daily?
Starting point is 01:23:13 I try to. He nods. But I have said to him, I need to connect with you, Chuck. And we have really tried to make an effort lately because I'm gone. I'm touring. And he does miss me. Like today he was going somewhere. And he said, when are you leaving?
Starting point is 01:23:28 Because I don't know if I'll be banking. He was going to play tennis or something. He said, I don't know if I'm going to be banking. I'm like I could tell he need to be with me. And he's lonely. You know, and I feel like a middle school mom in Knoxville, I'll say to my friends, if y'all are doing something, can you all invite you? Because he's still working, still got a job.
Starting point is 01:23:45 But he's lonely because I'm now on the road. He was on the road for 30 years. I was raising the babies and he was working, traveling. And now it's him and he's at home with that little binkle, Gigi. And he gets lonesome. And it makes me feel bad for him. But I don't want him with me. I don't want him on the road with me.
Starting point is 01:24:04 because I would have to tend to him. And I know this is a clean podcast, and I don't need to go into what I would have to do. Yeah. But thankfully, your kids are grown and out of the house. Yes, yes. And he goes with me, like, if I'm doing the win, he played golf with Usher one time.
Starting point is 01:24:22 Didn't he tell us. Wow. Told Judy and then said, and she goes, do you're Dan having a good time with Usher? And we're like, what? And he said, yeah, I'm playing golf with Usher. Wow. I know.
Starting point is 01:24:33 So he'll go if there's a golf course. If there's something like that, then he would enjoy it, he'll go. But he's still got a big job and working all time. And it is hard to take your, you know, like hard for me to take my wife on a lot of these trips too, because it's like you do have to like, you're like, then in like husband mode where I'm like, I am working. It seems like I'm at a cool spot and it looks great. But I am working.
Starting point is 01:25:00 And I don't, you know, I can't be in work mode and husband mode. but it's too much. Yeah. And dad mode. Yeah. You know, it's like I'm stressed all day and then I got to go do a show. It's better. I need to.
Starting point is 01:25:10 Right. You know. Uh-huh. It's tough. Yeah, we did that Nate Land Cruise earlier this year and neither one of us took our wife and kids. And I think we both think that was the right decision. Yeah. I mean, my wife was afraid that our kids would fall off the side of the cruise ship, which is a big reason they didn't go.
Starting point is 01:25:26 But, yeah, it is better. Just, it's like, I don't even like cruises. So I had fun. because I can just smoke cigars all day. But I don't like them, you know? I don't like fun things. You know what I mean? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:25:41 I've been on some cruises where every time I'm on, somebody gets a stomach bug. Yeah. Down in the Caribbean. And I'm Sissy. And if there's any waves, little Karen Mills worked a cruise ship. She said it was like this.
Starting point is 01:25:58 Huge storm came through. That boat was rocking, huge cruise ship. She said it was the worst thing she's ever been through in her life. They said, you've got to do that show. And so she took her heels off and palmed the floor with her feet and did that show. And people were vomiting in the bushes and the plants. And plants were flying across the ballroom floor. And she had to do it anyway.
Starting point is 01:26:23 And you're up there going, you ever been to the grocery store? I've never worked a cruise. That was the only cruise I've ever been on. First night, I think all of us were on it. It was, it was pretty rocky that first night on the cruise. Yeah. The first night, yeah. I mean, I was, I basically did what you're talking about. I mean, I was like, felt like I was. We're on stage and it's, you know, just, it's moving around. Now, Alaska, I've gone with Chuck's company also to Alaska, and that was like glass, and that was very pleasant. Yeah. And that, I think a lot of people worked those cruise ships and stuff. But did Nate enjoy that? Did y'all all have, does anybody want to do it again?
Starting point is 01:27:01 Yeah, everybody had a good time. I had a good time. time. I mean, I would probably do it again, even though I do hate cruises. And I feel like if I say it, then people will go, oh, the cruise is happening. Do you want to do it? And then I'll go, ah, I shouldn't have said it. But no, I did have a great time. Did you have fun? I'm back, by the way. Yeah. I thought I was, I thought somebody would say something. Yeah. But Aaron Weber's back. Is Aaron Weber speaking? Yeah, jump right out. I had a good time on the cruise. Yeah. I had never been on a cruise. I had never been seasick like that. It really knocked me out the first day.
Starting point is 01:27:31 I don't think I knew that. I knew Lucy got knocked out. I didn't know you did. Oh, dude, I was struggling, man. Did you take Ramamine or did you put a patch pine here? Because I've done that. I had the patch. I had the patch.
Starting point is 01:27:43 And at first night on stage, I was like, they got to bolt this mic's hand into the ground because I'm struggling up there. That stage was on the front of the cruise ship. And they said that was the worst spot for it. Because it was the very front of the ship. It's hitting everything, right? Oh. I was just rocking and rolling up there.
Starting point is 01:28:00 Yeah. better to have the stage there than your bedroom though I guess so yeah I guess so but dusty eyes are still a Richard Deere oh yeah I was just thinking that um Dusty when you're or when y'all are on the road
Starting point is 01:28:15 do you talk to your wife multiple times a day I don't know about multiple but I do we do talk every day we used to talk a lot now though you know she got a lot of stuff going on when I'm gone she got three kids and she's like I can't be just talking on the phone all the time. God love her.
Starting point is 01:28:33 Yeah. I was at home like that for years, but I was thankful to be home and to be doing that. Yeah. But that's a lot. Yeah. She's like, I just, I appreciate you call him, but I can't just be on the phone all day. Yeah. Listening to you going, oh, I hate it here.
Starting point is 01:28:49 This hotel room, HBO. I remember thinking if I could just go somewhere and watch HBO by myself. Chuck Morgan, like I would gain 25 pounds. he would, over six months, he would lose it because he'd be at a comfort sweets getting on a treadmill every night and doing the sugar-free diet or something. And I'd be three cans stressed out, big pair of khakis on, breast milk stains. No highlight job. I love the big pair of khakis.
Starting point is 01:29:21 Big pair of pletkaigas. Not sweatpants, the khakis. The khakis is a real image. Yeah. It paints a picture. Don't compare. All families are like each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way. That's funny.
Starting point is 01:29:34 And comparison steals Joey. Yep. The thief of joy. Yeah. I always say, depending on you compare yourself to, I just try to compare myself to people not doing well. I love it. It brings me great joy.
Starting point is 01:29:48 Can you give an example of who you would compare yourself your family to? No. Okay. No, I'm not going to do that. But no, you should try not to compare yourself to people. we get competitive. Mm-hmm. In comedy.
Starting point is 01:30:03 Yeah. And in all that. Comparison can be like coveting too. You shouldn't do. That's a commandment not to do. It can be like, oh, I wish we had this. I wish our life was like this. That's coveting.
Starting point is 01:30:14 God told you not to do that. If you don't do it, then you feel better. Mm-hmm. Don't covet. Don't be like, oh, I wish I had this denim jacket, you know. you can have it if you want i'll give it to you i'll give it to you but uh you need to find out this is my tip okay you need to take that test five love languages i swear it works find out what your your spouse's love language is
Starting point is 01:30:45 and feed them their love language we want to feed what's our love language mine's words of affirmation chuck is acts of service if i say to him you're a language you're a look like major ant legs, Chuck. It doesn't mean a thing to him. No, he's got major ant legs. Yeah. Is that a compliment to here? It is.
Starting point is 01:31:01 He's got beautiful legs. But he doesn't care. Would I love it if somebody said I had major ant legs? Yes. But I retain a little fluid. I hate to say that in front of my boyfriend. But acts of service, like if I make him a Duncan Hines cake with chocolate icing on it, and he smells it coming in the door, he's got tears in his eyes.
Starting point is 01:31:21 So if I do, or vacuum out his car. or say, I went and got your old changed or something, that makes him feel loved. And if I feel loved when he says, you're such a good mom or you're, you know, but you find out what your love, your spouse's love language is. I swear that works.
Starting point is 01:31:39 That book is like one of the all-time biggest seller book sales in the Gary, little Gary Chapman, I've met him. What do you think that? Darling. What do you think that South Carolina preacher would say about the five lung leg legwork just test? physical touch he wants physical touch i like that idea though i've never done that you can take the test
Starting point is 01:32:01 online and get hannah to take it and then you will if you think her your love language your life will be a what happens if one of them comes back and says you don't have one you don't fit into any of these well does you you cannot but i think you would probably have one comes back you cannot receive love and you cannot give it. But like quality time, you know, men that want their wife just sit there while they watch ESPN. Yeah. Physical touch. And everybody thinks, because, man, that's how y'all show love and that's okay.
Starting point is 01:32:36 But they're talking about like when you just want to pat and squeeze and not the, you know what. Yes. And then receiving gifts. My sisters is gifts. If you give her, it doesn't even matter what it is. If you give her a card and flowers from Kroger, she wants to ball. her eyes out. It's the fact that you thought about her and, you know, and got her a gift.
Starting point is 01:32:56 I'm telling you all it works. It says here, if your partner's love language is physical touch, things to avoid, physical abuse. That's probably a good rule for any law language. Oh, my Lord. Is that saying don't starfish somebody in the back? What in the world? Words of affirmation, don't emotionally abuse them.
Starting point is 01:33:20 Don't verbally abuse them. Aaron, have you done this? No, I've never taken one of these. I'm afraid of what it might say. Honey, there's nothing to be afraid of. I did it in Sunday school, went on a retreat. Somebody made biscuits. We had a ball.
Starting point is 01:33:33 Are any of them embarrassing to get? No. What's the most embarrassing one to you have? No, they're all wonderful, and you can have two of them. One can be your prominent one. Then you can also like physical touch. I think if you're a man and your love language is receiving gifts, I think that would be embarrassing a little bit.
Starting point is 01:33:49 Yeah, I kind of agree with you. For getting special occasions, that would be a thing to avoid. I hate special occasions about myself. You said Chuck likes a cake, though? Is that the same thing? No, it's just that I fixed him food, a big meal or whatever. It's not about celebrating his birthday. He doesn't care about gifts.
Starting point is 01:34:06 Yeah, yeah. But he gives me really nice gifts. Yeah. So, but it's hard for him because he's not, his family didn't come up doing compliments, mind being. Yeah. And but it, but what people get hung up on is you do what your love language is. You do that for your spouse, but that's not their love language.
Starting point is 01:34:26 Right. Right. You know. Can you switch around? Do you think? I think it can change. Do you think you're different love languages and different points of your life probably? Yes, I think so, my darling.
Starting point is 01:34:36 Okay. So you should do it every few years just to. Yeah, just see. Uh-huh. But I'm telling y'all, if you do whatever that is. We did it. You did. What's Ruth's love language?
Starting point is 01:34:47 Physical touch. you know she wants to bite my lips off she does want to bite your lips off I've seen her she's never commented on his chest dude she stares at him what's yours words of affirmation words of affirmation yeah
Starting point is 01:35:01 yeah yeah I think a lot of stand up in comics might be yeah probably probably I don't think I am it'll never be enough yeah I don't think you fit dusty any of these I bet he does
Starting point is 01:35:11 I think he's his own thing do you like for Hannah to just sit with you I do like that you do It might be quality time. Yeah. Do you like physical abuse? Do you like verbal abuse?
Starting point is 01:35:26 What about some verbal abuse? Well, listen, we're both talkers. And me and Hannah will sit in the morning and talk to each other. And then we'll have coffee and then we'll keep having coffee. And the next thing, you know, we're arguing. And we don't even know why. But it is a kind of a fun argument, you know? Sometimes.
Starting point is 01:35:42 But where are the kids during this? Right there. I'm just amazing that y'all can even have time to talk and drink coffee. We go. Guys, be quiet. I think of it kind of like, you're shadow boxing with thoughts, kind of like playful kind of, you know what I mean? Yeah. And then inevitably, you hit a little bit too hard once and you go, oh, sorry.
Starting point is 01:36:03 Sometimes we even stop and go, what are we even doing? We go, I don't know, too much coffee. Yeah. No sleep. No sleep. Breastfeeding. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 01:36:12 But I'm the grandmoma here and y'all have got to listen to me because I've already been through all this. while y'all are young and y'all've got little children, y'all need to take a date night every week and have that time and go somewhere. I don't care if it's Shoney's still open. A couple of them. Go and have a date night and take that time and connect during the week because time is going to go by
Starting point is 01:36:35 and then you're going to go to college. You're going to be going, who are you? And what do you want from me? Who's going to babysit the kids, though? You've got babysitters, right? I know. I got one. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:36:49 Y'all don't have any family here, do you? We, no, not in town, but pretty soon both our parents are going to be retired. And come in here? Both sets of parents. So they're going to be able to come a lot more often. But they've been good about, they'll come and spend a week at our house and hang out and help out with stuff. Help out, yeah. Do y'all do dates?
Starting point is 01:37:11 No. You need to. Ruth would want to make out with you in the back of a car. it's just hard in a biblical way it is hard to get a good babysitter and it's not that even like these kids these teenage girls are neighborhoods it's not like they're lazy they're so involved in school activities now that they've always got some extracurricular activity they never have time they're all cheering and doing and just some type of school like being stressed from day one out here I mean everybody like is loading their schedule up right doing these travel travel travel
Starting point is 01:37:45 Everybody's so stressed. It's like, take it easy. Play with some sticks. Play with some sticks in the backyard. Yeah. Sounds like quality time is your love language, man. Maybe it is. I think so, my darling.
Starting point is 01:37:57 Maybe it is. I'm a little surprised Chuck gets lonely if he's such an introvert. I know. Okay. He doesn't want to talk, but he wants us all there. Interesting. And he loves to watch sports and all that. But yeah, he wants us there.
Starting point is 01:38:14 Uh-huh. And the grandbabies come over. and he helps now. And I told him, I go, help them with those grandbabies. And he goes, I don't want to bother them. I don't want to get in their way. And I go, you are helping they need that, Chuck. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:38:25 Help them. And so the oldest one just started playing soccer. And so I get to go this Saturday for the first time. And I hope Chuck doesn't cuss at the soccer field. He's very competitive. But he's been helping more and picking them up and taking them back and forth, daycare and kindergarten and all that. but he'll retire sometime soon, but he needs purpose, you know.
Starting point is 01:38:50 I don't know that people are supposed to retire, you know? Like obviously you don't want to like just work yourself to death, right? But I feel like you almost like need to like fizzle out at a, you know, you go, you go, I'm going to take less responsibility. Because I don't know, I've just seen it in my life. People retire and then it's like they're aimless out here. Or they sit down and die. I mean, I think people, like if you're not,
Starting point is 01:39:15 if you don't have purpose. Yeah. And my parents are, you know, 83 and 86, and they go, my dad will go, aren't you tired? When are you going to stop this? And I go, but it's just started and I enjoy it and I feel active. And I know, you know, learning a script every week. Yeah. You know, I like that challenge and coming up with a new hour every two years is getting tiring.
Starting point is 01:39:37 An hour and a half. Yeah, Dusty's got some extra. Yeah. He gave you. I got a few of it that there's some wild ones. I got a few wild ones. I'm getting pretty dirty for clean. But how much of each other's act do you think you could do?
Starting point is 01:39:55 And it would make sense. Because we both smoke cigarettes. We're both waiting tables. Yeah. We're both farming people. Yeah. Probably a lot. Probably a lot.
Starting point is 01:40:04 We both love the Lord. Yeah. I told him, I said, we should do a podcast because Jesus is coming back. That's what ours should be. Well, that is true. That is true. And you go, we don't know if we'll be back next week. And you don't know. You don't know. You don't know. Tune in if you're still here. If we're still here, who knows? Is there a rapture? Is there not? We don't know.
Starting point is 01:40:26 They always say, they always say hope for pre-trib, prepare for post-trib. That's what people say. What's post-tribb? I mean, pre-trib would mean you get raptured before the tribulation period. And then post-trib would mean that you live through the tribulation period. Which sounds rough. Yeah. I don't know that much about things because I was not raised. I was raised in Methodist where everything is kumbaya and love and forgiveness and all that's so sweet.
Starting point is 01:40:54 Yeah. But I didn't get all that. I didn't know about all that. I'm hearing about that in my... Some people believe Jesus already came back. The millennial rain happened and now we're living in Satan's little season waiting for the final return of Jesus. That's what some people think. I'm not saying I'm one of them, but that is what's something about that.
Starting point is 01:41:17 There's a millennial rain theory out there. What's a millennial rain? Millennial rain theory. Meaning that, you know, in the Bible, it talks about Jesus coming back and Revelation, and then there'd be in a time where he rules on earth for a thousand years. And then when that's over, Satan is loosed for a short season to, you know, for one final chance to kind of let them run around the yard. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:41:42 And then they lock him down forever and then, you know, Jesus comes down on earth and, you know, lives here with us and everything's great all the time. You still want to do a podcast? It's going to be a lot of that. It would teach me a lot because I don't know. We might start smoking again. Yeah. Yeah, I'm going to try. I'm trying to build a new studio now where I can smoke in there.
Starting point is 01:42:06 That's my lifelong room. That's your final form right there. Yeah. Yeah. That's my lifelong dream. Andrew Dorfman doesn't like cigars, so they won't let me smoke. We could light up it. What are they going to do to you?
Starting point is 01:42:18 Your face is on the building. I don't know. Leanne could light up a cigar. You could light up a joint in here if you wanted to. Your faces on the building. Yeah. Low. Yeah, they can't paint over that.
Starting point is 01:42:29 Did y'all know that they sell THC drinks? Oh, yeah. In. Croger. Where was I? Hilton had South Carolina. at the fresh market. Oh, boy.
Starting point is 01:42:44 It's got like 10 milligrams, which says a lot, isn't it? They don't do that here. We don't have that here, do we have to see? I've seen people show up with those drinks all the time. I don't know where you get them. 10 milligrams is not a lot for a lot of people, but for me, a 10 is, it can be a lot. Where are they showing up, Aaron? I like a 5.
Starting point is 01:43:03 I don't know. I've seen them around. I've seen TSC drinks. People have them. There was a whole row of them. I'd never seen them before. I was in there. I was at a health resort.
Starting point is 01:43:11 they let me stay a few days last week and just and they care about how many calories you eat and they give you like tell you what you the resort does yeah if you want to go there for weight loss they just said would you like to come and relax i'd been there before and i was like okay and then i just felt like i was going to chew my own hands off so we went to the fresh market got some of that good brand oh yeah and some cheese yeah some onion and chom cheese i got a diet coke because they feed you nutrient-dense food. And that's all wonderful. And then you've got to have something, you know, substantial.
Starting point is 01:43:50 And then somebody ratted us out that we'd been there. Oh. But I just noticed that there was THC drinks. Oh, yeah. Well, you mean someone to rat you out? Oh, because you're not supposed to be there? Somebody, yes, drove us in a van to get there and then told everybody. Wow.
Starting point is 01:44:09 And I was just there watching ducks, doing it. a couple of, you know, exercise classes, getting in the pool, doing a little yoga. They took you there and then ratted you out. Uh-huh. And all the other staff members, they go, yeah, we heard. Oh, love. Maybe they were just excited that they got to drive you around. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:44:28 And then inadvertently rated you out. Maybe. But anyway, I felt, I was just fascinated by that, that they sell dope and drinks. Yeah. Yeah. I think in South Carolina and Tennessee, It's not legal. So I don't think it's the real THC.
Starting point is 01:44:44 If you're on California, you can probably get, you can probably get something. The real stuff. Something pretty fresh out there. Uh-huh. Yeah. And I live out of there,
Starting point is 01:44:52 you know, sometimes, so many months that, but I wouldn't, I don't, I can't go in there. I had day wall of that. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:45:00 It's still dope to me. It would be wild. If I worked in a, what do they, a dispensary and you walked in, that would be wild to me. Or even if I'm in there, and then you,
Starting point is 01:45:11 You come strolling at, I'd go, Lee, Ann. Now, I might need some cream, THC cream for my sciatica. Yeah. I believe in that. Yeah. But I can't be doing a bunch of crates. I took CBD, what, 9, Delta 9. And saw snakes.
Starting point is 01:45:30 Delta night. Delta nights. All night. That's another one where I'm like, that's like, it's like, THC that's like chemically altered to be, like, it's illegal because technically, it's a different chemical compound. But I don't like it. I'm not into it.
Starting point is 01:45:45 I know a lot of people like it, but I'm not into it. I'm like you. I've, I thought it was CBD. I thought it was like just relaxing stuff. And I took it quite a bit and I've kind of freaked out to it. Yeah. Like a waska kind of tall. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:46:01 Yeah, you go down a wormhole. Visitor quest. Yeah. A bunch of grasshopper like people. All right. Here's another dude. Be willing to forgive. even when you know you're right
Starting point is 01:46:14 well I guess that's a little bit different to me yeah to me people were like if they wronged you what are we talking are we talking something terrible or we talking how wronged I forgot your anniversary oh
Starting point is 01:46:31 let that go you know don't sweat the small stuff I don't think so and also I think don't keep having the same fight over and over. You know, people have the same fight for 30 years. You need to resolve conflict. Learn how to resolve conflict.
Starting point is 01:46:49 Well, don't try and change each other. Yeah. You and Chuck, he's the responsible one and you're the fun one, right? Yes. And I can't change that. I can't. I mean, and I'm thankful he's been responsible. But, yeah, he's more uptight.
Starting point is 01:47:09 I'm really you know happy go look you know but I know that he's going to be torn up no matter what he likes to be torn up at work he likes a challenge he likes like it he's not one of those men that'll just drink a diet coat go home at four
Starting point is 01:47:25 he's got a he's got to start a whole new division of a company be torn up get the shingles you know and that's just who he is and it's taking me 30 years ago that's who he is and that's what he enjoys doing That's how he's built, and I cannot do anything about that. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:47:44 Yeah. Yeah, you don't really want two happy-go-lucky people in a relationship. Like, it might be fun, but things never get done. Right. I would be in a hole. If it weren't for Chuck Morgan, I would be, it's no telling what it would have happened to me, because I don't understand insurance. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:48:03 But then two uptight people in a relationship, the kids are like, I don't even know what to do. I can't even move. Yeah. Somebody's got to be fun. Yeah. You'd eat popcorn and dance in the kitchen. Yeah. Do you think it would be easier for two celebrities to be married to each other or just one of them's a celebrity and one of them's not? Because if you were two, you'd understand what each other's going through in theory. I think so. But then I've heard since I've been in LA like people get divorced, like if one actor is more successful than the other. To me, I always looked at it. If Chuck Morgan's That's for our family, and I'm so proud, and I'll do anything I can to... But I've heard out there, like, if two actors, which they're a different breed... Yeah. They are.
Starting point is 01:48:51 And if two actors, and one's not successful, like the other one, that really causes a lot of problems. But, you know, Chuck Morgan doesn't care. I mean, I've wanted this show business, and thank goodness he didn't, too, you know. And I guess, like, think about Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. I mean, she's always been in his shadow for 30 years, but they seem to be happily married. And she's doing her own thing. So they just make it work. She's singing and cabaret in it doing.
Starting point is 01:49:24 Dusty? Well, yeah, I mean, I just think that, I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like we know Rita Wilson because of Tom Hanks. Maybe I'm wrong about that. And that's how I know her. that's probably true but I mean she's in stuff she but she had aspirations to become a big star now she's probably for years moved on from that but she wanted to be what tom I'm sure became at one time right she wanted to be forest gump and he would have thought chant yeah you know that
Starting point is 01:49:57 boy that boy that guy he's wonderful on running point yeah white boy summer I've seen a lot of uh YouTube videos with chat he's a fun guy he's got a lot going on You don't show's Reid Wilson, right? I have, yeah. And I like, she's always been nice to me. I met Tom Hanks. He was nice to me.
Starting point is 01:50:16 You did? I did, yeah. I've always loved him. Yeah. I met him at the Opry. Dusty. At the Ryman, at the Opry kind of thing. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 01:50:24 Yeah, Rita Wilson was on the show. You were telling me how you think we should get back to arranged marriages. And can you expound on that? Well, I don't know that I said that, but I also, I'm not necessarily. I'm not necessarily against it. I feel like we've all, it's been sold to us as this bad thing. But the idea being your parents know you and love you and care about you. And then the other person's parents know them, love them and care about them. And they want to help you find the best partner for your life. I don't, I don't think it's so bad. Especially, I mean, look at our marriage rates.
Starting point is 01:51:05 Look at where we're at. Is our way going well? I don't think so. So maybe we should get back to kind of guiding some of these kids to go, hey, listen, you may not love this guy right now, but he's very successful and he's a very nice guy, okay? But we had this image of like some lady being forced to marry some grotesque guy. And I'm sure that happens. But I'm saying if your parents care about you, Yeah. Then that's not going to be happening. I'm not totally against it. Yeah. Hannah was about to have to go back to Canada. She married Dusty and then she grew to love him.
Starting point is 01:51:45 Yeah, exactly. She is Canadian. She is Canadian, yeah. Oh, wow. You know, they said my grandmother, her, she married a guy, her first husband, was killed in World War II. And then she had a kid. And it was like, you know, she was poor. And so she married my grandfather.
Starting point is 01:52:04 and like my great aunt told my sister that my grandmother said she learned to love my grandfather. And then they had three kids. And then that's how I came about. But, you know, it's like you get married because, you know, you need that person and that stability. And then, you know, so I don't think it's so bad. You can learn. Like also we live in this fairy tale world where they're all like, oh, you meet someone and you fall in love. and then your whole life, it's just roses and candy and everything.
Starting point is 01:52:38 It's just a party every day. And it's like, stuff is work out here. Yeah. You know? That's true. TV shows and movies do paint that. Now, the good news is statistics show divorce rates are at a record low. People are getting married less, but they're also getting divorced less.
Starting point is 01:52:53 So they're just being more picky and cheesy. So that's good. Are they getting divorced less because there's less marriages or a percentage of the marriage? I think the percentage of the marriages, All right. So that's good. Yeah, that is good. I mean, getting married a little bit later in life, we said, and doing that.
Starting point is 01:53:09 Now, some scientists think, I'll go in on this because it's fun. By 2050, people will be marrying robots. Well, he's already a guy in China, I think, that married his robot. Is she going to kill him? She going to turn on him and rip his digits on. It'll be a documentary and it's going to bump Leanne's season three out of the top ten. That's what you're going to compete against. It will.
Starting point is 01:53:34 I'll have to compete against robot digits. Robot love. And the South Carolina preacher will be preaching against the robot because it wasn't satisfying the man. Stinking thinking. Well, can you leave us with one advice tip for marriage since we're all fairly new into marriage? I think I'll go back and reiterate that everybody needs to do love language.
Starting point is 01:53:58 I truly think that works. We should do it on the pot. You all should all take that test. That would be fun. And I think that you should have a, you really should carve out time and have a date night when these children are little. And I know it's hard, but y'all, I've already been there, didn't do what we should have. And we should have worked on our time together. But you get busy and everybody's playing sports and all that. But it is important for your little children, for y'all to be happy and be connected.
Starting point is 01:54:27 That's better for your babies. So I would do that. Do you think a lunch date has the same effect? Yes. Okay. That's okay. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:54:37 All right. I was just curious. Mm-hmm. And then learn how to resolve conflict. Don't have those same fights over and over again. And if you, you know what? Marriage counseling doesn't have to be that something's wrong. It can be a strengthening thing.
Starting point is 01:54:49 And I know that takes a lot of time and a lot of money. But I do think that's helpful and gives you tools, you know, through your marriage to, Chuck Morgan and I should have done that too. You know, there's all kinds of retreats and things that you can do. Nothing's bad. Yeah. Nobody's done anything against each other. Just, you know, gives you tools like it would anything else that you're doing.
Starting point is 01:55:11 Churches have gotten a lot more savvy over the years about doing stuff like that. And having classes and stuff to help. And specialists and stuff like that. Yeah. I think all that's important. And kiss and all that in front of your little children. You know, they want to see y'all kiss and hugs and hug. Just kiss and hug and kiss and hug and love on each other.
Starting point is 01:55:33 I think that's important. You know, one thing I heard, this is when Hannah was still on your podcast, Dusty, y'all said you never even playfully criticize each other in front of other people. Yeah. And I think that's a really good advice. Yeah. I mean, you know, if we're fighting with each other, it's a different. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:55:49 But in public. But yeah, no, I think I always try to teach my kids, you know, that, you know, I don't know. I don't like to criticize anybody in our family and stuff like. that. I feel like words have power, as we talked about. And, you know, you don't, I don't know, I don't like, I don't like pitting my kids against each other in the sense of where I go, why don't you be, you know, you be good like your brother, you know, or something like that, you know, because I don't want them to resent each other. Yeah, and I think it's good to build each other up. Let your kids grow up in a household where people are complimenting each other and not trash in each other all the
Starting point is 01:56:26 time. That's what our text threads for. Yeah, exactly. I think that's more. I think it is. I think that's good advice. All right.
Starting point is 01:56:37 Well, this comes out a week from today. So we're going to pitch our ship upcoming shows. So if you've got anything you want to mention, you can be thinking about it. I'll go tomorrow night in Raleigh, North Carolina

Starting point is 01:57:44 All right. Let's see what does it. The research trial. No, no. Don't, don't. You don't want to know. You don't want to know. No, no, because I don't know that this is right.
Starting point is 01:57:51 I'm going to go check with some people. Oh, okay. I see. I see. I don't want to see. I don't want to see what's going on. All right. I don't need that kind of stress. Okay. And can I tell people to always go to Liam Morgan.com and get their tickets? Don't go to third party.
Starting point is 01:58:05 Right. Crazy mess. Never go to third party because if something happens beyond any of our control and you buy from us, we can always get your refunds. We can get your transfers. If you buy third party, we've got no control. We can't help you. With me, just any way you can do it.

Starting point is 01:58:34 Bring fake friends. Oh, they're your shows right there. Yeah. Detroit, yeah. Milwaukee and then St. Louis. And go watch Leanne, season 2 on Netflix. We'll watch season 1 and 2. Thank you, my darling.
Starting point is 01:58:48 Thank you. How'd you'll come up with that name? That's not bad, right? That's pretty good. And when that, let me tell you this little tidbit, and I didn't even know when I just found it out, that house that you, that is in my, that's my house in the, they filmed that in Knoxville.
Starting point is 01:59:04 They had a film crew come, and that is in a neighborhood where two of my best friends are living in. Isn't that crazy? I know. Yeah. I know. That's great. Hey, can I ask it, do you like Brian's shirt?
Starting point is 01:59:16 I told Brian I liked it. Do you like it? I like it. Yeah. Thank you. Yeah. This isn't weird at all. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:59:22 And your eyes are so pretty and blue. Yeah. Thank you. They're not Richard Gere eyes, but, you know, we can't all have Richard Gere eyes. I know. A lot of people say it looks like Brad Pitt. Did you see that? Bread pit, they said.
