Starting point is 00:03:06 Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:03:07 Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:03:07 Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:03:07 Ooh. Ooh. Here's Nikki. Hello, here I am. Welcome to the show. It's Nikki Glaser Podcast. I am still in Los Angeles. We are in studio.
Starting point is 00:03:15 These have been such fun shows last week and this week. Yeah, we've got two more great shows for you this week that we're about to do. I just feel it coming. I'm manifesting. They're going to be so great. great i feel it don't even you don't get involved in my manifestation mom because you blew it for the emmys but my mom is here everyone sean o'connor
Starting point is 00:03:33 is here brian frangie is here uh welcome back to the show sean hey i'm so glad to be here so glad to have you mom welcome back to the show thank you Nikki, for letting me be here in L.A. Yeah. For all of this action. I loved it. It's so fun. I just, I, you know, I invited you to the Gracie Abrams show that I talked about last week. And my mom was like, my neck. I, Nick, I can't.
Starting point is 00:03:55 My neck. And then, like, an hour later, I was like, do you want to go to Ami's parties on Sunday? She was like, yeah, I'll be there. I don't think that was an hour. I think it was the next day. That was the next day. But I guess... Neck was better. Yeah, neck was better. Miracle cure. That's called secondary gain.
Starting point is 00:04:13 What's that mean? Secondary gain is when... No, it's when a symptom allows you to get something that you want emotionally also. Wait, say it again. When a symptom allows you to get something you also want emotionally. when a symptom allows you to get something you also want emotionally when a symptom allows you to get something like i don't want to go to that
Starting point is 00:04:29 party because my back hurts okay and so it's like you you get a secondary gain from your back hurting got it okay so yes got it so like when you when i use like diarrhea to get out of things exactly yes oh my god if you go i can't go to the bathroom right now. I already have diarrhea. I can't, I can't. Okay. Yeah, that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:04:50 Yeah. I, I don't get diarrhea that much. And when I do, I, I've talked about it before. I love it because it just, you feel like a cleanse.
Starting point is 00:04:58 Have you gotten a colonoscopy yet? No. Oh man. The night before you got to get a colonoscopy. You're going to love it. I don't think I will because you can't eat. Well, that's true, but you get to poop out water for hours on end. And then you do a photo shoot?
Starting point is 00:05:11 It's just like a- Yeah, they do a photo shoot. They do a photo shoot of your butthole. The biggest photo shoot of all. The most important photo shoot of your life. David Spade has a great joke about when he got a colonoscopy, and they're like, so here are the pictures. Now, do you want these?
Starting point is 00:05:25 And he's like Why would I want these? Like eight by tens of my colon He was like Can I get some wallet size For my friends? He does it better But it's so funny
Starting point is 00:05:34 Wallet size Okay so yeah Mom You did a good job Not going to the Gracie Abrams show Like that was a good pass Thank you It was a
Starting point is 00:05:40 I thought it would be like Reliving our Taylor Swift Errors tour moments But I just didn't. It wasn't the same for you. I was by far the oldest person there. Taylor Swift shows are like, I would say, tons of girls 14 to 25-year-olds. It was probably 35% at Taylor Swift shows,
Starting point is 00:05:58 but there's a lot of adults there. Because they're taking their young kids. Yeah. We used to have been there. It's not all young girls, right? You mean Taylor Swift? No. Yes, but Grace Abrams was all young girls.
Starting point is 00:06:10 It was like the parents didn't go. They just dropped off their children, all little girls in bows. And it was really funny. Carlisle and I just kept – well, Carlisle started it, but she just kept taking every Grace Abrams song and then fitting like, you know, like, I can't understand because I'm in menopause. Like she just kept,
Starting point is 00:06:28 I don't know any of these words cause I'm older than your parents. Like we just kept writing new lyrics. And then that became fun. If you turn anything into let's write jokes and try to like make each other laugh. Instant fun. It's the best. It's the best. It's the best.
Starting point is 00:06:45 I admit, I loved going to movies with a bunch of comedians and you would just talk during the movie, which is so rude, but it was the best. It's the best. That's actually a great tip for a first date or for going on online dates or something.
Starting point is 00:06:58 If you can somehow formulate an inside joke with your date about everything going on around you, that'll make the day so much better. Like what's a good, what's a good idea for that? Like, let's try to guess what the relationship is of everyone around us. Maybe, like, people Sure, that's a great one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:15 It just gives you something to do. Like, you see two people talking and you're like, what do you think they're talking about? That's a fun one. Yeah, for sure. One time on one of my early dates with Allie, I told the, I was at a restaurant, you have to give them a name
Starting point is 00:07:31 and then they would yell out the name. And then I gave them the name Hodor. So they would have to open the door and yell out, table for two, Hodor. And that's a Game of Thrones reference. Yeah, it's Game of Thrones. It was during Game of Thrones time.
Starting point is 00:07:43 Right, right. So like a little inside, like she's going to say Hodor. And we're all sitting there waiting for them to say it. That's like a little fun little joke that we got to share together. And now we're married because of that.
Starting point is 00:07:55 You have to go out with someone who has a sense of humor though. Oh, well, you know. That is like impossible. I think that's true no matter what jokes you're making. Yeah. Did you go on many dates, Sean?
Starting point is 00:08:04 I feel like you just met people through comedy. I met people through comedy and then like immediately moved in with them. I just so happen to be like, I think I'm a lesbian in that way. Where our third date is the move in. Yeah, yeah. I think like you met Erin through doing comedy? Yeah, she came up to me
Starting point is 00:08:26 and said she did, she saw me do stand-up and liked it and then I was like, oh, I'm gonna have to marry you. Oh, at a mutual friend's
Starting point is 00:08:34 birthday party. Who? Zach Broussard. Okay, yes, of course. Yeah. A thousand comedians you should know.
Starting point is 00:08:40 Yeah, he's great, great. He was having a birthday party. I went there with friends and then at like 3 a.m. she came up to me and talked to me. And I was like, oh, I think I'm going to marry her. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:08:51 That's so cute. And she had seen you do stand up where? At Union Pool, which is where I was like my drunkest, my sweatiest. Oh, my God. The worst they could possibly be. She saw you at your worst and still. Yeah. Wow.
Starting point is 00:09:04 It's just like so good for date. Like men who do comedy do not have to be on the apps if they're doing stand-up regularly. Right, and you get to go up in front of crowds. And if you, especially if, I mean, it doesn't matter if you're yourself up there or not. Like you can just have an act that's very different from your personality,
Starting point is 00:09:24 but women are definitely attracted to that. And it gives you, it's like peacocking. It gives a girl a reason to come up to you. So she liked you, but she gets to come up to you and say, I like your act. Yes.
Starting point is 00:09:35 So she's not risking anything. At all. She had no idea how autistic I was. And that's like little, I just give her little hints. He's just being funny. Yeah. It's a nice thing to have.
Starting point is 00:09:50 And then for women, the exact opposite. Why is that? It's just, well, I've said this before, but I find that the person I am on stage is very, you know, a confident person obviously has to be exuding that,
Starting point is 00:10:07 really self-assured, knows who she is, knows what she wants, kind of a ball buster, especially like roast stuff. And so any guy that's like really attracted to that, like the persona that I am, is going to, it doesn't reflect who I am. So I don't really, I don't want-
Starting point is 00:10:24 So it's not your real self? No, I'm just saying it is a part of myself that I'm a performer, but I think offstage in a relationship, I don't want someone who wants that. So someone who's attracted to that and like, I want to date that girl. I'm not going to show up like that in the relationship. So I feel like that is...
Starting point is 00:10:42 I'm not attracted to the kind of man that's attracted to that. Well, that explains a lot. And as a woman, you just don't. Chris? No, I don't know about you. Yeah, we'll get to Chris. But as a woman, you just don't want a guy being like, hi, nice to meet you. You don't want a guy trying, I don't know, at least for me, I'm anxious attached.
Starting point is 00:11:03 So I want someone who seems to be not interested in me a little bit. That I have to win over. You like the fight, Nikki. What? You like that fight. I just like to earn things. Even last night, we were at the Emmys party. And we'll get into that.
Starting point is 00:11:16 But we were at the HBO Emmys party. And we were in this amazing karaoke room, which was so fun. And we got home last night after it. we were in this like amazing karaoke room, which was so fun. And, uh, the, we got home last night after it. And we were talking about how Chris looked so cute. And he was like, yeah, I actually got hit on tonight.
Starting point is 00:11:32 And I was like, huh? Oh, I saw it. I was like, I was like, damn. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:40 It was, it was bold. Like, and it was like her, she was the aggressor. Yep. And it was wild to watch. Cause it was like, she was the aggressor. Yep. And it was wild to watch because I'm like, oh, wow, Chris is like fucking fly. Like, because it was like a hot black woman who was like, what's your name?
Starting point is 00:11:55 And I was like, they can talk to you? I will say that it makes sense he ends up with me like he has always gone for girls that kind of like go after him like that are just like hey what's your deal like that he's not usually the one that goes he's not the hunter when it comes to he's often even said
Starting point is 00:12:17 that he will in the past he has when he was a single man like hooked up with a girl just because she wanted it so bad she deserved it. She put in the effort so much where she was hit on him enough and was bold enough that he's like, yeah, this girl. And not in a way that I'm going to pretend to be her boyfriend or mislead her. Where he's just been like, no, she deserves it. She really put herself out there
Starting point is 00:12:46 and that was cool. He respects a badass woman. So this girl, you witnessed it. What did she say? She literally, he was like, she was walking by,
Starting point is 00:12:57 like she was leaving because she was sitting there and like her song wasn't getting called or anything. And then she walked by and then she turned back and she goes, what's your name? And I'm like, what is happening?
Starting point is 00:13:09 This is insane. Because like truly she was there with probably like a star of an HBO show. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And like she was just like, you know, I'm going to pick him up. It was the only other time I've ever seen anything like that. So I was backstage at Conan with Julian McCullough and Sharon Stone walked into his dressing room and was like, I need everyone. And she gave him a kiss on the lips and then walked away.
Starting point is 00:13:35 And I'm like, she said she met everyone. She didn't even look at me. And it felt that way. Well, yeah, she was like, what's your story? And he was like, oh, i'm a tv producer whatever and she was like and she just i boldly was like are you married like she just straight up was like are you married he goes no my girlfriend's right there and she goes okay oh she goes you should find me or something and he goes oh okay you know like sure and then um i think she worked at some
Starting point is 00:14:00 agency and he goes oh yeah he's being polite and she was wait are you married and he goes no my girlfriend's right there and she goes, oh yeah, he's being polite. And she was, wait, are you married? And he goes, no, my girlfriends are dead. And she goes, okay, then don't find me. I love this girl. Wherever you are, you're amazing. And you've just improved our sex life a lot. Because like now I'm like, oh, it's like he's, it's that charges me up. Cause I'm like, oh, I got something.
Starting point is 00:14:21 You love that. I want competition. I like to win. Not that I feel like I'm, but even if she won, I would still like it. Like, even if he, like, I would still like it. What if you just let her win for a few weeks? Yeah, you'd really. I mean.
Starting point is 00:14:33 Throw Chris a bone. I honestly will. I'll throw her a bone. And it's Chris's. I really, I would. I like, I like, because then I'd be like, well, then I got to get him back. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:42 That might be nice. I like it a lot. Everybody wins. It's fun. It's really nice. I like it a lot. Everybody wins. It's really fun. Yeah. Nikki, Nikki. Everybody wins, right? Yeah, I think everyone wins.
Starting point is 00:14:50 Chris would be happy in that situation. I don't think. No, he's like, he knows that I'm like this and that I'm charged. Well, he'll know he's being used. But the good thing about it is that he doesn't have to ever hide things when he's maybe gets hit on. Like, he knows that he can tell me about that stuff and I will only like it I'll never be like wait what did she say what did
Starting point is 00:15:08 she look like like I'll never there's never he'd know I think at first he probably didn't trust that I was like actually as into it as I said I was going to be into it because it seems like a baby who says this stuff but now he just can say it casually and I'll be like huh
Starting point is 00:15:23 and so he like he knows that I'm not gonna be like so how did you find out about this one he just like weren't there did he? But now he just can say it casually and I'll be like, huh? And so he knows that I'm not going to be like, so how did you find out about this one since you weren't there? Did he tell you? Yeah, he just told us. We were eating pizza later on decompressing. You guys were directly in front of us. Yeah. I didn't witness it. I would have loved to witness it.
Starting point is 00:15:41 But he just mentioned it because I was like, oh, you look so good tonight. He was like, actually, I got hit on for the first time in a while or so you know like and then I was like wait what happened and then he told the story so it was it was awesome um it was shocking to see like I literally like shade tipped as she walked by like I went like he's so respectful too I'm like wait what did she look like I wouldn't know what she looks like because I'm like she looked like he was like he just what he wouldn't even get into that he was like she's a nice girl like he's like he won't he's so respectful of women in just a lovely way uh i love he looked hot last night he did he really got it he's got that hot blue suit he's been
Starting point is 00:16:18 losing some weight he's been getting it together it's so funny like he gained some weight he does not care about being called fat there's no part of him that connects that to his worth right or who he is as a person there is no zero connection it's as if it's it's almost the same as like being like oh you have like some food in your teeth like it's actually that's probably more embarrassing for most people yeah but it's like to him it's just like it's something i can fix i just have to like eat better and it'll go back because he knows i can relate to this 100 because it's like i know that i'm overweight i know that i could lose some weight when you have something in your teeth it's like these people have a secret imperfection that they've known about you for some time and now it's it's gotten so bad that they're finally like i have to say something to this
Starting point is 00:17:03 person oh yeah that's the worst is when you know there's been talk around you about something and then finally someone is like, I'm going to do it. And you know they've talked to so many people about how they're going to say it to you. That's the worst for me. And then you know after the talk
Starting point is 00:17:17 they're going to go tell everyone I told her. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And oh, I can't stand that. No, no, no. I'm the opposite. I wish I could be normal. All I think about is every imperfection, and I just go through my life thinking about how much I hate myself.
Starting point is 00:17:33 Oh, yeah. That's how I feel, too. That's also normal. If someone ever told me, I know what's going on with me, but if anyone ever verbalized it, like his family was just like, Jesus, Chris. He took off his shirt one day, and I wasn't there to witness it. But they were like, what is going on?
Starting point is 00:17:49 And and and he was just like, yeah, yeah. Like they just like fat shamed him. And and then I was there. Was it at? Oh, yeah. It was at Pasta House, too. They did it there, too. I think I saw that.
Starting point is 00:17:59 You can't fat shame at a place called Pasta House. They did. They're eating pasta too. What the hell? But it wasn't even shaming because they know their whole, their family doesn't have issues with food and like that kind of stuff. They don't eat. No, they do.
Starting point is 00:18:15 What? Yes, they do. I'm just kidding. Yeah. But like they just don't. I just, I've never met anyone. I don't think, literally anyone that could handle
Starting point is 00:18:26 a comment like that and not let it like stick in their head and feel so bad about it. I would Menendez my parents so hard. Fast. You wouldn't have even
Starting point is 00:18:37 needed a brother to help you. You would have done it on your own. That's funny. But yeah, he's looking pretty slim and trim And cute
Starting point is 00:18:45 And yeah Now you got some worries No I have no worries You like that worry No I have no worries You don't even like it He's never gonna cheat on me It's like not even
Starting point is 00:18:53 No no no You like that Somebody else is looking at him Yeah because it doesn't So much He's not gonna cheat on me So I don't care Like
Starting point is 00:19:01 Yeah Don't Don't if you have a nice car You want other people to go, that's a nice car. I'd like to have that. Or as a jealous woman, I mean, Noah, you've been a jealous woman before. Is it different for you that when a- She didn't know that.
Starting point is 00:19:16 If you sense a woman is attracted to your husband, are you pissed at the whole idea of it or it's only like is it different than someone coveting your car if you have a nice car so noah of the past yes because you think that like your partner's gonna go for it and then this whole thing just starts to snowball and in your mind yeah but noah of the present like i totally's like, yes, she wants what I have. And that feels kind of good. Yeah. I just, and I actually, like coveting a car, it's different because a car I can get if I just get money.
Starting point is 00:19:55 And money is like, I just don't, I don't really respect people who have lots. I'm not like, wow, they have money. Like they are special because they have money. Usually it's like nefarious and or luck because their parents have money you know like but it's someone who has someone that's shiny and someone
Starting point is 00:20:12 who is great and cool and attractive and it takes a lot to convince a person like you're actually convincing a person to be with you yes I had to convince my car to be with me it's it's so it's a smart car. It picks up quickly.
Starting point is 00:20:30 That's why I've been working on my vocabulary. Because when I talk to it and tell it to back up, it's like, can you use another word? And I'm like, so anyway. Yeah, I think that means more to people people being like i wish i could be friends with her friend like i i'm my family not so much because i didn't earn you but i am proud of my family but i'm more proud of like the people i collect around me that don't have to be with me understood yeah yeah what how do you feel when dad gets hit on uh i i don't know how I feel. We'll just run it through. Well, I think it's
Starting point is 00:21:07 interesting. Because he does get hit on. I don't think I care. Yeah, because it's secure. I've got him. You won. I don't think he's going anywhere. I don't know. Okay, well let's go to break. We'll come back after this.
Starting point is 00:21:23 Let's let you think about this. 2025 is bound to be a fascinating year. It's going to be filled with money challenges and opportunities. I'm Joel. Oh, and I am Matt. And now, Mini Questions is returning for another season.
Starting point is 00:25:13 We've asked an entirely new set of guests our seven questions, including Jane Lynch, Delaney Rowe, and Cord Jefferson. Each episode is a new person's story with new lessons, So last night was the Emmys and then the Emmys parties. Did you watch the Emmys? Not all of it. It was quite long, but I did appreciate the things that I saw. Okay. I was also up against the West Coast feed came on directly against Sunday Night Football. I know.
Starting point is 00:26:00 Bears. Allie's a huge Bears fan, so we're definitely watching the game. So I kind of was like flipping back and forth is she a huge the bear fan because yes she is also would have been in fact in fact she uh was on a work trip uh in new york this past week and she was flying from uh new york to la and on her flight from New York to LA she saw the forgot her name the woman from the bear
Starting point is 00:26:30 who plays the chef. The one who won? Yeah the one who won. What's her name? I don't remember. Lisa Colon Reyes? Maybe. I think so. I think so but if not I could be wrong. You got it closer than us.
Starting point is 00:26:46 So she saw her sitting at the airport terminal and Allie was running late and she was sprinted into the terminal and she ran up to the door and the door was closed. And she was like, no, my life's over. And it turns out that the flight was delayed and the door was closed because the plane wasn't even there yet. That's so embarrassing. She was like, oh, my God. And then Lisa Colon Reyes was sitting right there, saw the whole thing, and was like a
Starting point is 00:27:07 little bit like laughing, and they were all laughing together. See, the bear is a comedy. Yeah. No, it's not. They're laughing. That was the first time she's ever laughed since working at the company. I think it's Olivia Colman, by the way. No, it's definitely not.
Starting point is 00:27:21 No, no, Olivia Colman's a different person. She won Best Supporting in a Comedy Series last night. Whoever that is is who we're talking about. Olivia Colman is a famous British actress. Yeah, she's from the, she played the stepmother
Starting point is 00:27:32 in the best show that ever, Fleabag. Yes. Uh-huh, yeah. And she's in The Crown, too. I mean, she's in a million things She's in The Favorite, which is great.
Starting point is 00:27:42 The Favorite. The Favorite. The Favorite. She's in Wonka. Oh, she is? Yeah. She's amazing. Favorite, which is great. The Favorite. The Favorite. The Favorite. She's in Wonka. Oh, she is? Yeah. She's amazing. Okay, so.
Starting point is 00:27:49 So, also, this applies to a lot of topics we've been discussing. So, she went and she sat down after she had that just, like, smile moment with this person who's not Olivia Colman. Did she recordize her right away? Immediately. Okay. And so, she sat down, and then some guy started hitting on her and
Starting point is 00:28:06 I bet Ally gets hit on all the time she has such a friendly disposition yes she gets hit on constantly but she was wearing a Chicago Bears shirt that just had the face
Starting point is 00:28:16 of the bear which is kind of like the same logo as the Bear Restaurant exactly in the show and so some guy was hitting on her
Starting point is 00:28:22 he was like hey cool shirt go Bears Bear down and he was trying to talk to her and then she's like I need to get so some guy was hitting on her. He was like, hey, cool shirt. Go Bears. Bear down. And he was trying to talk to her. And then she's like, I need to get out of this guy hitting on me situation. So she said, hey, over there is the person from the bear. I've been thinking about going to talk to her.
Starting point is 00:28:35 Do you think that's a good idea? And then the guy was like, yeah, go say hello. And so it achieved two things. It gave her the confidence to go talk to the person and got her out of the hitting on situation. Amazing. And that woman is new to being recognizable. So she's probably, she's not like, it's not like seeing Tom Hanks or someone who's like. No.
Starting point is 00:28:54 Who's going to like, you know, curse at you. This is great for her. Like she's going to have a story to tell. It's perfect. Yeah. She didn't inconvenience this woman. And she's on her way to the Emmys. Most definitely. Oh yeah. So Allie went her way to the Emmys, most definitely.
Starting point is 00:29:06 So Allie went up to her and she said, I'm such a huge fan. She was with her husband who's also on the show, who also plays her husband on the show. Oh, wow. Really? Yeah, her real life husband. Oh, cool. And so they chatted and she was so gracious. And clearly this doesn't happen a lot to her yet because she was like extremely like happy and then ali sat down after they had a great
Starting point is 00:29:25 exchange and secretly on her computer uh was watching not olivia coleman the whole time and no one else went up to her so she knows that this this person doesn't get approached a lot yet yes and so she got in early like like investing in amazon early in the 90s that's so great yeah that's and then it was a great exchange and also you can just tell that she's going to be a nice Got in early, like investing in Amazon early in the 90s. That's so great. Yeah. And then she won. And it was a great exchange. And also, you can just tell that she's going to be a nice person no matter what. Oh, my God. Yeah, you can tell.
Starting point is 00:29:49 Even if she was super famous. That's really cool. And do we have her name yet? Yes. It's Lisa Colon-Zayas. Great. So close. You just said a bunch of Hispanic names in a row.
Starting point is 00:30:00 I said Lisa Colon-Reyes. Oh, okay. No, that's so close. Yeah, that's so close. That is really amazing. I'm dyslexic. We'll cut it later because it felt racist. It's Lisa Colon Reyes? Even though none of us
Starting point is 00:30:11 remembered it at all. It did feel racist when I was saying it. I thought her name was Selena Gomez. Selena Gomez was there last night. It was... We watched as we were getting our hair and makeup done. It was fun to watch. Yeah we watched As we were getting Our hair and makeup done
Starting point is 00:30:26 It was fun to watch Yeah it was hard to watch though What do you mean? A lot of noise And I don't know A lot of noise In the room you mean? Oh yeah everyone's talking
Starting point is 00:30:35 And trying to watch Right Yeah No so it was I was like I kind of looked back And saw who won This morning
Starting point is 00:30:41 Because I'm like I didn't catch all that Yeah And at one point I just screamed out that guy was my first blowjob. Because he was there. I won't say who it was. I was really excited to
Starting point is 00:30:51 identify him for the and then I I like said it so quickly because it was going to be off the screen and it's just a funny thing to say like when your hair and makeup team has just got like I've said it before because I see his face pop up often and it's just a funny thing to because and it's like how was that your first like people were like was your first like when you were like 35 and it wasn't it was in college
Starting point is 00:31:15 but it was my first and i was like that was my first and um and then i forgot my mom was there as i said that oh but i think you said it before yeah i think but then i forgot chris was in the other room when i said it but i don't think he he remembers. No, I don't think he was there. He wasn't there. No, he was in the other room watching football, but he didn't hear. It's okay. He knows that I've given him one before. Him.
Starting point is 00:31:32 Yeah. He knows all about him. It was actually him. It was his reflection on the TV. First and my last. That's who he thought you were talking about. And then, yeah, that was funny because then Leia, who was doing your hair and makeup last night, they were doing the In Memoriam. And someone came up and she goes, oh, he gave me my first Tiffany's necklace.
Starting point is 00:31:54 And we all go, what? And I go, who gave you your second? And she goes, it was my only one. I go, so you can just say my only. It was Richard Simmons. She worked with Richard Simmons to lose weight. And after she lost her first 100 pounds, he gave her a Tiffany necklace. She did.
Starting point is 00:32:20 She also shared a story that he would grab her ass all the time and says, I made this ass so I can grab it. And I thought, all right. He's from a different time. Different time. And you can't cancel someone who's dead. Well, you can. You can. You can.
Starting point is 00:32:33 We had Dr. Seuss. Right? Didn't we cancel Dr. Seuss? He gets away with it again and again. Okay. Well, Richard Simmons can't. He's beyond reproach. She only shared it because she was delighted by that. Yeah. It's fine. No, Richard Simmons can't, like, that's fine. He's beyond reproach. She only shared it
Starting point is 00:32:45 because she was delighted by that. Yeah, it's fine. No, Richard Simmons is a hero. Yeah, he's,
Starting point is 00:32:51 he made that ass. He made that ass. She lost 100 pounds. That's huge. Yeah, she said her first 100 pounds she lost. She's lost 100 pounds
Starting point is 00:33:00 a couple times. Wow. I know, it's amazing. Or is this like a Tiffany necklace situation? It's all about that necklace. I want another one. Yeah, it was I know, it's amazing. Or is this like a Tiffany necklace situation? We're all about that necklace. I want another one.
Starting point is 00:33:07 Yeah, it was the only way it would fit. So where were you sitting in the audience there? I wasn't there. Oh, you weren't? No, I wasn't invited. Oh, just the parties. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just the parties.
Starting point is 00:33:17 Because I wasn't, they said, because I go, can I still go if I'm, last week? And they said, no, it's only people who are nominated. And then I was like, oh, okay. After I heard that, I'm like, I'm going to send screenshots of everyone who's there that's not nominated. I mean, there were so many social media influencers, YouTube stars there. I'm like, are they not?
Starting point is 00:33:38 Yeah, exactly. But it's fine. I actually am glad that I didn't have to go because then I would have had to get hair and makeup done at 12. This way it was like getting it at 6 o'clock. It just would have been a long day and you just sit there and it's, you know, it's a long ceremony. I can watch it on TV. There are people who won who didn't even deserve to be there. In your opinion, right?
Starting point is 00:33:59 Right. Well, I think, yeah. And then we went to parties. But Sean was Chris's plus one. My mom was my plus one. And then we went to the, but Sean was Chris's plus one. My mom was my plus one. And then we went to the Netflix party, which was fun. There were a lot of people from Love on the Spectrum there. It was great.
Starting point is 00:34:12 Oh, cool. My jaw hit the floor when I saw a Love on the Spectrum cast member that I can't remember his name right now. I think so. It's either that or Lisa Colon Reyes. They were dancing together. My mouth dropped and I was just like, he's real? I know.
Starting point is 00:34:29 It was exciting. He was so cute. He was so adorable. He's so cute. Oh my God. Giancarlo Esposito showed up in like, I'm not kidding. He's like on Breaking Bad and he was in Do the Right Thing. He was in the Emmys as one of the villain presenters.
Starting point is 00:34:44 Okay, got it. But he had this hat on that was so crisp. The only people I've ever seen wear a hat like this are Cowboy Carter and then Lady Gaga and the Joanne period. Yes. And it was so fucking crisp. I'm like, oh my God, you're so cool. I could never pull off a hat like that. You could.
Starting point is 00:35:03 I don't think I could. I think everyone would call me hat like that. You could. I don't think I could. I think everyone would call me Brokeback Mountain or something. My mom was actually commenting on your red carpet posing and said, Sean has got it down. He knows how to take a picture. I'm a buffoon.
Starting point is 00:35:18 How did you learn that style? You do a lean that makes you look really cool in these pictures. This this is what I did. I studied Jennifer Lopez at the Oscars in 1999. And I just do that and I know with my
Starting point is 00:35:34 big fat body. Look how cool he looks. Wow. Right? That's a good style. Send that to me. Oh yeah, I'll send all these. You're going to get all these. I haven't posted yet. I did that for my obituary. Which one is that from? That's from the HBO party.
Starting point is 00:35:48 Emily, my social media girl who was on the podcast last week, said that. Because I was like, I woke up at 10 today when we went to breakfast. And I was like, it just takes so long to make a post. You have to pick out the photos. Then you have to format the photos so that your feet aren't cut off. And now she told me to download this other app that makes everything look like nice and when you slide a photo it like leads to the next photo you know like just there's so much to do and to pick it all out and then to come
Starting point is 00:36:15 up with a cool caption that's not trying too hard it's like it just takes about an hour and a half of my time and that's with minimal effort i'm not i'm not joking you i don't really try that hard yeah but like just to crop them all and then like remember which ones you cropped it's like so much time didn't have time for it today and everyone's already posted their emmys dumps like i woke up to like like last night even i'm like oh god how did all these people do it so fast they do it at the parties while they're sitting there bored i think they do and but instead i'm singing pink pony club with sean o'connor You're actually having a good time living in the moment. Yeah. That was so fun.
Starting point is 00:36:47 But Emily told me she was like, the best time to post is 6 p.m. your time. So she was like, most people are scrolling at 6 p.m. Pacific, 9 p.m. Eastern. So anyone out there who wants to optimize their posting, that's the intel I got today. 6 to 9? It's like 9 p.m. Eastern, 6 p.m. Pacific is like best time to post because that's when everyone starts a scrolling because they're off work. They're kind of changed out
Starting point is 00:37:11 of their work clothes. Maybe walking lazily on a treadmill if they are at the gym. Venmo Emily for that information. That is like that is incredible. Yeah. She's 6 p.m. PST. PST. Well, why doesn't she do all that cutting of the pictures?
Starting point is 00:37:29 She will. We're going to try to make this slicker. I mean, don't you just send her pictures and let her? I think I'm going to try to do that. But I also still want some kind of control because sometimes I'm like, I want this photo before this one. It's just, you know. You got to let go of control.
Starting point is 00:37:44 That's the problem. Yeah, that's hard. But then if you do, but then, then your, I don't know. I've sensed when people I'm fans of let go of control and then their Instagram just slightly has a different tone and vibe that just is a little bit off. And you're like, I just feel like they aren't a part of this anymore. And I don't want to have that entirely. Yeah. Like Donald Trump on Truth Social.
Starting point is 00:38:04 Wow. I was just thinking that. I was going to make the same exact joke. That's crazy. He's got off the rails. That was my favorite moment of the weekend, I think.
Starting point is 00:38:13 Was waking up to what I thought was a fake tweet that someone just made and was memeing. No. And then someone sent it to me. Then I was getting so many DMs from besties
Starting point is 00:38:23 saying like, did you see this? And then someone, all it takes for me to believe something is to someone to go, this is real. Like, like immediately, like that. For some reason, we trust that when someone just goes, this is real. The internet commenter. Honestly, it's no, there's no authority. There's no, but someone saying that makes it real to me. Yes.
Starting point is 00:38:43 And it was real. Apparently. It is. It was And it was real, apparently. It is. It is real. It was covered in all the news outlets. It's so funny. I was laughing. I couldn't stop laughing and saying it.
Starting point is 00:38:52 The idea of a guy running for president, waking up on a Sunday morning, and the first thing he says to the world is, I hate Taylor Swift. It's so funny. Yeah. I mean, it's a stark reminder that that's what him being president was like. It was like every day we'd wake up and there'd be a crazy tweet. That's right. It's not surprising, but it's just like, I can't
Starting point is 00:39:12 believe. I'm sure he like because they must, he must be like, I'm going to tweet about it. And are they, because since the endorsement, he's probably wanted to tweet that, right? Oh my God. Yeah. That's why I was in all caps. If he was able to tweet it immediately it would have been in lowercase yeah because it's been bubbling up
Starting point is 00:39:29 inside of him i have to go to the bathroom just i just want to go just i just want to like look at look at some documents and they're like well we know you don't read and so he went in there and they go no and they're banging on the door. Donald, come out! I was surprised it was only one exclamation point, to be honest with you. Yeah, he's a messy bitch. It should be at least five. It almost gets a little bit more of an impact with one exclamation point. He was half in his right mind when he did the one. Yes, exactly.
Starting point is 00:39:58 It wasn't just a covfefe moment. So he meant it. I'm nervous for Taylor. I really don't appreciate. Oh, yeah. It's not good for her. It's not good for her, but it's so, it was, at first it was very funny to me because it's just such a dumb move on his part because already with the Kamala endorsement, like
Starting point is 00:40:15 Swifties are going to vote for Kamala because she told us to. Not that that's why I am. But some are. They are so like, whatever our leader says will do but now like any that were like maybe i'm on the fence like you anyone who likes trump that's a swifty like sorry taylor comes first you cannot say and taylor didn't say i hate donald trump no right like he says hate she has a very like nuanced like uh you know reasons why she was voting for kamala and it's yeah like chris
Starting point is 00:40:47 pointed out that like him saying he could shoot someone in the middle of you know madison avenue or whatever he said and not true with taylor and and that he wouldn't no one would do anything like that didn't offend anyone but this is the thing that people yeah you don't get to hate Tim Swift. Sir, you've lost your mind now. I mean, really. It was so... It made me happy because it just shows... Whenever he gets like that, you just know he's not having good news coming. His intel is giving him... Internal polling was bad.
Starting point is 00:41:17 It's bad. Yeah, that's what happened. We know things aren't good over there. It's still a toss-up race. It's still 48% to 48%. How is that possible? And with this Loomer chick, how is he allowed to tote around
Starting point is 00:41:33 this bigoted conspiracy theorist, 9-11 truth, or bring her to a 9-11 memorial? How is that okay? She's one who said that the White House is going to smell like curry. How is that okay that She's one of, who said that the White House is gonna smell like curry? How is that okay that he could even be
Starting point is 00:41:47 in the same room as her and it's not like, like leading news? I just don't understand this. She's been like a proud white nationalist for like seven years. And he's wrapping his arm around her
Starting point is 00:41:58 like she's the first lady. She got banned from Uber. She got banned from Uber. She got banned from Uber. She has to take lifts. Yeah. Do you know how racist you have to be to get banned from Uber. She got banned from Uber. She got banned from Uber. She has to take lifts. Do you know how racist you have to be to get banned from Uber? Oh, my God. Well, undecided voters simply haven't learned enough about Kamala's economic policies.
Starting point is 00:42:15 They really want to dig into the details before they make a firm decision. Undecided voters, you like Trump. You're just a Trump. You just are just, you like the attention you get from being like, I don't know, because you feel important. You know this is the only time in your lives that anyone gives a fuck about you? And so,
Starting point is 00:42:30 because you're an undecided voter, it gives you identity, it makes you feel important, it makes you feel like the fate of the nation lies in your hands, which it does. So maybe, yeah, take it. You're important.
Starting point is 00:42:40 But you're not. You're using this because you have nothing else going on in your personality that's actually interesting. How are you fucking undecided? It it's such a it's it's so why we're even asking these people it literally reminds me when they do in the onion and they interview the people on the street and the onion that are the same people every time that say the most inane that's what undecided voters i don't care what they're saying anymore i don't want to hear it
Starting point is 00:43:03 i don't even know who the like like, and they never give in. They go after the debate. Undecided voters, they go through nine of them. Three have maybe made their decision, but they're all still undecided because they have to hold on to that because it's their only thing interesting about them. Yeah, or they just say what they were going to say before the debate even happened. But it is wild because undecided voters are still being polled in late October, which means that they are making the decision when they get in the booth. Right. Which is like, honestly, I knew I was voting for.
Starting point is 00:43:36 I don't even love Kamala, but I'm like, I'm all in. I'm going to vote for her. I just don't understand. I would hate to go to dinner with these people. They would need to hear about everything on the menu. I don't know. The chicken comes with a side of Nazi supremacy. Well, you know,
Starting point is 00:43:54 but I don't know if the fish has any... What's the fish's policy on fracking? I love Jon Stewart's... He made a great joke. It's a kind of a nuanced joke so it won't play by me just repeating it but he made the point that like it feels like if you're in a state that's not a swing state as in nevada arizona georgia north carolina pennsylvania then it's like you're
Starting point is 00:44:21 not even part of this country voting it's like you don't even it's like you're not even part of this country voting. It's like you're watching another country. It's like, I hope the people of Georgia decide a good president. You're so right. It just painted a picture of how stupid the electoral college is and how it disenfranchises basically like 85% of the American populace. You're so right. Yes. It sucks so much to think that like are like our vote does not matter it
Starting point is 00:44:47 doesn't matter like does not matter yeah like what is it like 15 of all people in america live in california or some more than that i don't know but that sounds right like that yeah and their vote means less like yeah no oh yeah well compared to like North Dakota, it's like someone's vote in the Electoral College in North Dakota is something like 60 is worth 60 votes to one California's vote. Does that make sense? I said that weird. It doesn't make any sense is what the problem is. It's the same with the Senate.
Starting point is 00:45:17 The Senate, every state gets two senators despite the population. Like all two people who live in Wyoming get to be senators. It's a nightmare. And the Electoral College will never be, they're not going to overturn that or try to amend that because Well, the one thing that could really change that desire is if
Starting point is 00:45:40 Texas, which has been wavering on like 46% blue, if Texas ever went blue, it would mean that only Democrats would get elected from now until the remainder of time. And so at that point, there might be a pull from both sides. But until that day.
Starting point is 00:45:57 Until it doesn't favor Republicans. Yes. It's not going to. Until it, yeah. But I can see in the future at some point, Texas could, if Texas ever went blue, it would be like it would upend our political system. Did you see that someone did a piece about who was it?
Starting point is 00:46:11 God damn it. It was about. Oh, it's Bill Maher. His like, you know, final thought the other night was about how we have this transition, like the time between someone is elected and they actually take office is ours is longer than almost any other countries and he's going through all the countries that it's like four days a week yeah two days overnight because that it used to be like you had to get William Taft in a stagecoach and like drive him
Starting point is 00:46:37 from Ohio or whatever to DC and it would need to take a it would take a while yeah but that that time like we don't need it like when you get fired from a job they're not like no just hang around for two months yeah exactly so i think that that was like an interesting point that so much can go wrong in that time period as we saw you know yeah yeah absolutely yeah i mean there's there is like it takes a long time for them to count the votes so like we didn't know know for two weeks who won last time. I think by December 1st, you should probably. They have to officially count the votes,
Starting point is 00:47:11 and the vice president has to say, it's official. Does that really take three months? Oh, my God. I'll tell you a conversation I got at an Emmy party over the weekend that made me kind of scared, but also hopeful after this. 2025 is bound to be a fascinating year. I'm Minnie Driver, and I set out to explore this idea in my podcast, Minnie Questions. Over the years, we have had some incredible guests. People like Courtney Cox, star of the infinitely beloved sitcom Friends, EGOT winner Viola Davis, and former Prime Minister of the UK, Tony Blair. And now, Mini Questions is returning for another season. We've asked an entirely new set of guests our seven questions, including Jane Lynch, Delaney Rowe, and Cord Jefferson.
Starting point is 00:51:23 Each episode is a new person's story with new lessons, new memories, and new connections to show us how we're both similar and unique. Listen to Mini Questions on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Seven questions, limitless answers. We're back. So I've been going to Emmy's parties all weekend
Starting point is 00:51:46 It was Started Friday night Then Saturday There was brunch Saturday night There was parties And then last night There was parties
Starting point is 00:51:53 On Sunday night And then But on Friday night Chris and I went to The Hollywood Reporter Party This really nice house That I think is just used For like parties
Starting point is 00:52:03 One of the nicest houses I've ever stepped foot in, in the Hollywood Hills. Beautiful, just indoor, outdoor, a pool with like the floating Hollywood reporter logo and like just a big buffet of food. It was just like lovely. And then I did, it was kind of like not that many people there. It was like kind of a chill environment. Like how many?
Starting point is 00:52:25 Probably like a hundred over like a huge scale. And out of the 100 people, how many are like recognizable faces? Five. Five. Six. Okay. Seven. Eight.
Starting point is 00:52:35 Not. Like five to 12. But to someone who watches a ton of TV, which will be me by the time I'm doing the Golden Globes, more. Yeah. Okay. Okay. So it's mostly stars that
Starting point is 00:52:46 are at this thing no mostly producer types producer types agents like people from city bank like i mean like hollywood is so tied up with like banking and different yeah investors so when you walk into a party like this who are the who comes up to you um a lot of people's plus ones who are just fans interesting sweet i like that like just a lot of people that i might like they're like i go and why are you here and they're like oh i'm just here with my friend who was nominated for camera work on something so like friends of people that i wouldn't even know anyway but and then like but um i met zachary uh quinto, Spock. He's got that new show coming out, which I forgot about. I forgot about it.
Starting point is 00:53:28 I've seen him in commercials. He plays a doctor that can see the future or something. I think he plays a- Man, that's what he was playing at the party too. Because he was like, I met, he's like a stunning man. I was immediately like, oh my God, I know you and I like you. I really haven't seen his work because I didn't see Star Trek. Star Trek, yes.
Starting point is 00:53:47 But I knew of him and he was there and he knew me and so we kind of like were introduced and then we just kept talking and he was telling me about how there is going to be, he was like he was talking in a way that
Starting point is 00:54:03 I couldn't really grasp. I was like, have you just come from an ayahuasca ceremony? He was like, there's a global consciousness. This is about consciousness. He goes, it doesn't matter who wins. There's going to be a reckoning. There's going to be a change. He was like, I was at the debate.
Starting point is 00:54:18 And he's, what's it called? He did a lot of work with Obama, both terms. And then he was done stuff with Kamala. But he said there was a shift for him at the debate where he like realized that Stein, he couldn't have been at. No, he's totally still Kamala. But how was he at the debate? Not sorry. He was watching the debate.
Starting point is 00:54:39 You're right. Sorry. He was watching the debate. He was playing David Muir. He's really's really good. And he said that, I don't remember exactly, but he's like, he's like, you know, there's going to be things, like civilization is kind of coming to a shift.
Starting point is 00:55:03 There's going to be a massive shift. He's predicting. And like he's saying this with these like the Spock energy. Yeah. And he's like, it's, he's like, it's okay. Everything's going to be okay. But you need,
Starting point is 00:55:14 he said a lot of stuff, but, and I was like very much focused, like trying to like internalize it because it was like so, it was intense, but he got through and he goes, all I have to say to you, he goes, do you meditate? And I go, sometimes he was like, start meditating. He was like, it was intense but he got through and he goes all i have to say to you he goes do you
Starting point is 00:55:25 meditate and i go sometimes he was like start meditating he was like it's the only thing he was like get every person you know and love tell them they need to meditate it's time think things are about to get really crazy like he what do you do what do you make that face for i mean i'm not selling what he was saying because it was using too big of words and yeah I just now am, you know, getting back on the Elevate app. And so I'm not able to really understand what he was saying. No, yeah. But he was just like, you need to start meditating again. And I was like, I needed this.
Starting point is 00:55:55 Like, I needed to hear this. He was like, what kind do you do? And I was like, I do TM. And he was like, get everyone you know and love to meditate. It's what we need right now. And I think it was great advice. And I told him, I was like, I promise you I will start meditating meditate. It's what we need right now. And I think it was great advice. And I told him, I was like,
Starting point is 00:56:06 I promise you, I will start meditating tomorrow and I'm going to meditate twice a day for the rest of my life. And I already failed. I let him down. But I do want to start meditating again. It really did get through to me.
Starting point is 00:56:16 I do think it's what we all need. I think it's, but I was just like, I can't let Zachary Quinto down. Like I need to start meditating. No, it sounds... He's like, it's dire. To sum up, we're about to hit a massive vibe shift.
Starting point is 00:56:31 Massive vibe shift. And we should all do mushrooms. Yeah, I honestly think it's time. No, really, what could he possibly be talking about? He was just saying, there's going to be... He predicts that things are going to crumble soon. Implode or – You know.
Starting point is 00:56:51 Civil unrest. Civil unrest. He's like it's not an end. There's no end because the ends always symbolize the beginning. But it's going to be things – no matter what happens on November 2 2nd um it's not six i think six it's not going to be things are will change and that it's too broken yeah i mean i don't know a bunch of horseshit i do like the end of that i do like the end result which is meditate more which is a good thing yeah i had this podcast for seven years, the Unbelievable Podcast.
Starting point is 00:57:27 And I interviewed, I don't know, maybe 100 people who have said something about a shift or the vibes are going to change. And then even suggest that everyone needs to meditate because you need to get into your chakras and then elevate into the next level so that you can travel through the eye of Arcturus or whatever the fuck their thing is. And there's been a lot of these different things. And first of all, they're always wrong. But you can always go back and point to different points in history that have been, quote unquote, the shift I was talking about. You could obviously say COVID was a big shift.
Starting point is 00:58:01 You could say that Trump getting elected the first time was a big shift. You could say that climate change is going to be a big shift you could say that trump getting elected the first time was a big shift you could say that uh climate change is going to be a big shift but like the things that the things that people always talk about are so nebulous they're talking about like literally the end times the end of the world like the big one was back in 2012 when the mayan calendar was going to end and they all thought that the world was going to end in 2012. And then 2012 came and went and nothing happened. And all those people were like, I meant 20, you know, whatever. Final thought. Here's my thing.
Starting point is 00:58:32 Someone has to be right at some point. This isn't going to last forever. So I know they always say, no, there's so many times throughout history where people have thought it was the end times and they were wrong. Well, at some point, someone's going to be right. So do we just keep using that excuse to dismiss people's fears about that? Or do, and there really is nothing you could do about it.
Starting point is 00:58:51 No, there's nothing you could do about it. But I think it's hubris to believe that in our lifetimes, we are going to experience the end of the world. Well, every generation believes that they're going to be there for the end of the world. Like since the beginning of time. But someone's going to be right. Someone're going to be there for the end of the world. Like since the beginning of time. But someone's going to be right.
Starting point is 00:59:07 Someone is going to be right. It's going to be so long from now. And I think what we should all do is we should go onto whatever podcast app we have, search Zachary Quinto, and find out this week if he is telling a story how he's at an Emmy party in a K-hole telling Nicky Clayson to meditate. He really was so sweet. It was one of the best conversations. He was just like,
Starting point is 00:59:28 I felt like a real, I just, I needed that. Like sometimes you just, someone tells you something that you need to hear and I just needed someone to rattle me and say like,
Starting point is 00:59:39 hey. He has such an intensity too in acting that I think if I was talking to him face to face like he could literally be telling me that like we have to start eating dogs he's right no i'm going for my intake at the scientology center later today so you've been doing doing elevate no i haven haven't yet. But they reached out and said, we have to register accounts first.
Starting point is 01:00:08 Because they went in and tried to give us all free Lifetime Elevates. And they said, those emails aren't registered. And I was like, oh, I forgot that part. So just register. I went in. I have Elevate. I've been using it. Oh, really?
Starting point is 01:00:18 I've been using a free trial. Oh, wait. My free trial is going to start charging me in two days. Oh, my God. Okay, well, I'll write to them. We'll get it We'll get it going But I love it
Starting point is 01:00:27 Are you having fun? I like it too Me too It's a really fun app Okay yeah It's got good graphics I really feel like it's staving off my You know
Starting point is 01:00:35 Dementia? Yeah I do feel that way Okay that's good Knock on wood Yeah I mean I really I do appreciate it And I have a five day streak
Starting point is 01:00:43 Oh that's great Yeah Wow Thank you My god That's a meditation app No it's like an app that like really, I do appreciate it. I have a five-day streak. Oh, that's great. Yeah. Wow. Thank you. My God. It's a meditation app. No, it's like an app that has brain games for you. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 01:00:52 Makes sense. Just elevate your intelligence and memory recall. It's got the same level of design as Duolingo. Yes. It's very good, sticky games that- Easy to use. Easy to use. Have you guys used Duolingo. Yes. It's like very good, you know, sticky games that. Easy to use. Easy to use.
Starting point is 01:01:08 Have you guys used Duolingo? No. Sorry Sean, what were you about to say? I was going to say, this is not an ad. I'm going to get LFA. It's not an ad.
Starting point is 01:01:15 They're not paying us. This is not, we're not. I want to remember. I'm going to get charged in two days and I'm going to be pissed off. I actually, we only are talking about them
Starting point is 01:01:22 because I said bad things about them. They reached out to me and said, we're going to fix those bad things and we're going to give you a lifetime membership. But the Duolingo, I did take off my phone because the bird gets sicker looking. That's not good. And I was really disturbed by a cartoon of a bird that looks sick. Like, I just don't, I can't handle animals. If you don't use it.
Starting point is 01:01:44 The bird icon gets literal bird flu. It starts getting like watery, drippy, pussy eyes. Oh my God. It's disgusting. And Duolingo, you need to check yourself.
Starting point is 01:01:54 Like, it's, that doesn't motivate me to use the app. It's honestly, like I said in my, I don't want a Tamagotchi. I want to learn French. I don't need to keep
Starting point is 01:02:03 this thing alive and make me feel like I'm being cruel somehow because I'm not practicing my vocab. Making you think that you're cruel because maybe you were busy at work or maybe you went to France on a trip or maybe you, well, that's not a good example. Yeah, that's not a good example.
Starting point is 01:02:18 You should be using that app. Maybe you were traveling. And you're lost in France because you don't know how to ask for where is the train station. Maybe you got sick or you're lost in France because you don't know how to ask for where is the train station. Maybe you got sick or you're getting married or whatever the hell. And now you have a sick bird on your phone. It's really disturbing.
Starting point is 01:02:33 I don't like seeing like, even my mom today was like pulled up like, look at this hummingbird. It's stuck in a tree. And then this guy was like helping the, or woodpecker is helping the bird out. And I just go, I don't even want to see that. Like, I don't even like videos where someone sends me like this animal was bad but now it's good i'm like i don't want to see it was bad at once i don't want to see any of it like even if it died it's a good ending well like dying is actually a good ending for animals that suffer too but i don't want to see that you know what i mean like it's if it suffered once i don't want to see any
Starting point is 01:03:03 of it so duolingo you're losing a big community of people who are hypersensitive to animal abuse. It's not just that. It's people who don't want to be shamed when they fail. Yeah. That's it too. Yeah. That doesn't work. I think they've done.
Starting point is 01:03:17 Isn't Duolingo doing the research that like that doesn't motivate people to shame them? I got to imagine. Yeah. When I saw that bird the first time, I felt the same way that you do. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I, when I saw that bird the first time I felt the same way that you do. Yeah. Okay. Good. Um, even though Anya today did mention on the girls chat that her, she, her dad, Oh, her dad too. Um, she was talking about her dad and her mom getting together and he like had to write the Russian consulate to like get his wife to be out of Russia in the 1960s or whatever, when they got married. And he kept just shaming the Russian government of like, why would you –
Starting point is 01:03:49 like there was something about – he wrote letters shaming them and it worked. Yeah. Because they were so embarrassed by what he was recognizing as like – and Anya goes, he used Nikki's method. And I didn't understand what she meant. So I need to follow up. I'm like, when do I use that method? But I do.
Starting point is 01:04:06 Actually, I do. The shame method. The shame method. I got it from you. What? No, I don't know. Maybe I did. I think it does work.
Starting point is 01:04:15 I mean, it works probably initially. Uh-huh. To make someone do that. Well, also, Russia is such a different culture. I got to imagine their relationship with shame is different. Yeah. Shame is such an different culture. I got to imagine their relationship with shame is different. Yeah. Shame is such an interesting topic. Well, even,
Starting point is 01:04:27 I mean, your dad used to say, don't say shame on you to the dog. Oh, really? Because dogs, just kick it. Just kidding.
Starting point is 01:04:36 He's like, that's not a good thing to say. With dogs what? Dogs know when you're saying shame. Like, that's bad. That's insane.
Starting point is 01:04:44 I'm not kidding. He was like, don't say. Dad is one of the biggest shamers going. Yeah. Don't do it to animals. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:04:52 I guess not. All right, we got to go. We have more podcasts for you coming up tomorrow. We'll see you then. Don't be good. Bye.
