Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello beautiful people and welcome to our humble abode, the Thunderdome. On this Football Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024, this program starts now. It's a massive day because although it is July 23rd, yes, 23rd day of the month, and the number 23 is very important today because 23 more NFL teams reported to training camp today. We are inching quickly, closer and closer to the NFL season, which obviously kicks off in Kansas City on a Thursday night, then on Friday down in Brazil, then a full Sunday slate, then Monday night football, then we're off and running
Starting point is 00:00:39 on a chase to the Lombardi for the next 24 weeks. We cannot wait for all that to start, but don't you worry. There's enough drama to go around. We'll have Dan Orlovsky joining us in about 14 minutes. He'll tell us everything as a matter of fact as if it is. Even if it's an opinion, it's a matter of fact. We cannot wait to hear that. What are his thoughts on some of the quarterback situations around the league?
Starting point is 00:00:59 What's going on with the Jets? They reported Aaron's there. Hassan Reddick's not we'll obviously talk about the whole situation with coach salah there before the mandatory mini camp in a way he decided to handle that uh statement which led to a lot of drama a lot of controversy which spilled into pardon my take at the american century championship about a week ago and if you want to start reading some tea leaves aaron actually wore uh an egyptian dog shirt to the first day of training camp in Egypt, was the place that he was at during the two minicamp practices that he missed,
Starting point is 00:01:29 even though he's at 100% attendance for the rest of them, and it's become a big deal. He's got a hyggehass on, you know, chairs for small things, I believe is what that means, and Danish or something, or Swedish, I forget what it is exactly. But there's so many storylines around the NFL. Obviously, we'll be chit-chatting about them on this Football Tuesday, we'll have Jeff Darlington here in the second hour. Obviously, he follows the Miami Dolphins quickly. What are they? I'm excited.
Starting point is 00:01:51 I'm excited to hear how that convo goes. No Christian Wilkins has not been talked about much. No, it hasn't. Not on the Raiders side, which have him and Max Crosby now in the same D-line, or on the Dolphins side, which no longer have Wilkins, who literally played every single snap and set the tone on that defensive side Dolphins side, which no longer have. Wilkins, who literally played every single snap and set the tone on that defensive side of the ball, he's no longer there. Now, will that help them? We shall see, but there seems to be a lot of shit around the Miami Dolphins. A
Starting point is 00:02:15 lot of shit around some other teams, too, like Kansas City Chiefs had a lot of shit around it all offseason. Not saying that all of it was negative, but there's just a lot of shit around them. Chiefs have won back-to-back Super Bowls. The Dolphins have not. So, with all the chatter around the Miami Dolphins, where are they? How do they feel? We'll talk to Jeff Darlington. Then we'll also chit-chat with Austin Rivers in a second.
Starting point is 00:02:35 12-year NBA vet. A man who obviously came on this show, and every time he does, says something absurd. The world will react. But he chit-chatted about this Olympic team. He started talking a little bit about the Lakers, about the situation around the NBA. We
Starting point is 00:02:50 need to figure it out. Stat, quickly. LeBron James can't be the only one that plays basketball good for Team USA at the age of 39. Yet again, in the fourth quarter, LeBron James took over. I believe he scored 11 straight points. The other team only scored eight in total. So LeBron literally beat the entire country of Germany,
Starting point is 00:03:10 had steals on the defensive side a couple blocks, and then scored everything for us to win. And this has become the story of these preseason games, these pre-Olympic games for Team USA. That man, who is the United States flag bearer at the entire Olympics on Friday night, can't wait to see him floating down the Sen Poop River on a boat as the Olympic ceremonies kind of kick off the entire celebration of sport around the globe. But he's also seemingly the only one who knows how to play international basketball or Team USA basketball. He's been the story of all these games, and I'm hoping that they're just deciding to turn it on whenever it becomes real. Right, sure.
Starting point is 00:03:50 But Tyrese Halliburton, front of the program, obviously very excited to represent Team USA. Steve Kerr says we don't need you. It's kind of messed up and down. Messed up. They're trying to figure out what the lineup is. Let's go ahead and figure that out, Steve Kerr, because I'm going to be honest. I want to be obnoxiously arrogant about our our basketball team always teams I'll say the women's basketball team
Starting point is 00:04:11 we've only seen them play once yeah mm-hmm they lost they did and to a bunch of people that aren't good remember that's how I bet one day maybe yeah not good enough one day you know sorry not on this team not supposed to be well they beat you so So we need them. And obviously, we have phenomenal athletes all over the place. Oh, yeah. We are big fans of these basketball teams as the humans individually. Some of them probably suck.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Sure. Some of them probably suck, if we had to guess, as humans. Majority of everybody good, though. Which we have to remember, with everything going on in the world. There's going to be assholes everywhere. Now, it does seem like in one particular field that rhymes with elliptical, they all kind of gather together. I don't know how that is the case for that profession. But majority good, we've got to remember that.
Starting point is 00:05:00 But we need them all to play their best at everything. Because think about all these other Olympic sports. These people are training for four years for that one opportunity. They've all to play their best at everything. Absolutely. Because think about all these other Olympic sports. These people are training for four years for that one opportunity. They've got to perform their absolute best. I'm worried that our basketball team kind of desensitized to competition. A little bit. Because how much they compete. We're looking for world championships and the NBA championship.
Starting point is 00:05:16 Does the Olympics even? Eh. Does it? It does. Because we need it. The United States of America need some big dubs. And this man is seemingly all in on bringing it home. Ant is going to get going.
Starting point is 00:05:29 I think this team is going to be special. But LeBron James has been the guy carrying them at the age of 39. We'll talk to Austin Rivers about that. Cannot wait to dive into all the sport happening around this beautiful universe. Speaking of universe, let's go to the WWE universe. Boyce, nine-year NFL vet, Darius J. Butler. Around this beautiful universe speaking of universe. Let's go to the WWE universe boys nine-year NFL vet Darius J Butler Butch and the toxic table at Boston corner and at Ty Schmidt
Starting point is 00:05:55 July 31st one week from tomorrow you guys come on officially gonna be a DLC pack alongside me and AJ Hawk in WWE 2K. How about it? Proud of you boys. It was officially announced that they're dropping our pack on July 31st instead of tomorrow,
Starting point is 00:06:16 July 24th. And there's a usable football. Now that was a surprise to me. I will say literally as reading that I had no idea that was going to be available. And I know that the wrestling community is pumped for this particular pack to drop into WWE 2K. It has actually been called the greatest pack, DLC pack to ever drop into history of WWE 2K. And then it's also... Video games.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Oh, into history of video games. Yeah, not just WWE 2K, video games. People say it's going to be the greatest of all time. One or two, maybe you heard that. Boy, there's a lot of people saying this is the worst decision of all time. I'm not in the gaming community. I thought I was in the wrestling community, but I think the wrestling community has been cornered by a certain group of people on the internet.
Starting point is 00:06:55 They're not happy. What is their deal, Ty Schmidt? I don't know. It's a good question, Pat. I wouldn't really say I'm too embedded in the video game community either. I like playing video games. Sure, blow off steam after my daughter's gone to bed or my wife's gone to bed. Just kind of relax a little bit.
Starting point is 00:07:12 But, yeah, we get the opportunity of a lifetime. Let's be honest. If you grow up playing video games and you get to go in and get your face scanned and find out you're going to be in a video game, anyone would do that. Now, granted, there are a lot of losers and marks out there in the IWC, the internet wrestling community, who, yeah, they're not happy. You know, I mean, even throwing you into it, which is insane because you've done quite a bit for the WWE.
Starting point is 00:07:36 You're in the WWE universe. You know, you're commentating on Raw every single Monday. You've had WrestleMania matches, like had a pretty good WWE career, sure. They don't love that you're in it, even. I saw that. I was pretty flustered by that. It's crazy. I was pretty flustered by that.
Starting point is 00:07:50 It's kind of crazy. I was in a main event steel cage match, thank you very much, at a pay-per-view. I believe they were called pay-per-views at the time. Can we have a little bit of respect, please? I swung Thawne off top of cage. You've been stunned. You took a stunner from Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania. That's right.
Starting point is 00:08:07 A lot of people are pissed, especially that D-Butch, Connor, myself, AJ are in it because they want some of these other losers that no one's ever heard of from NXT to be in the game. Why aren't these guys in the DLC pack? Well, it's because no one wants to play with them. That's why.
Starting point is 00:08:24 At first, it was like, man wants to play with them. That's why. Okay, so, you know, at first it was like, man, should I be upset that these people are pissed that we're in the game? No, absolutely not. Fuck them. That's kind of where I stand. I'm pretty jacked up that we're in the game. Yeah, exactly. And
Starting point is 00:08:39 when this gets released a week from tomorrow, guess what? We're all going to be draped in gold, and we're never removing that gold ever. So you're going to see your favorite WWE superstars getting their asses beat by D-Butch, by Conor and myself, by Pat, by AJ, and guess what? You're just going to have to take that medicine. And we won't clip that and show everything. Just shove it.
Starting point is 00:09:01 No. Shove it. Down the throats of all of them. We won't do that at all. They've been very rude. I thought this was supposed to be an inclusive bunch. You read all their bios. It's very like, hey, let's be nice to each other.
Starting point is 00:09:13 I feel like our show has been a part of the WWE a lot. Exactly. Once again, didn't take anybody's spots. Added. We got added into it because that's all a myth now i'm not a big video game guy everybody knows that but uh i guess a lot of these people in here and i think there was only a certain amount of spots right that's right there's only
Starting point is 00:09:32 certain amount of spots please certain amount of spots don't take my spots it's like no that's not yeah that's not how we're just added on in the end very thankful very grateful and i think they could add more people if they wanted to. So I don't know if we are necessarily the ones that should be taking it on the shins. Maybe, and I know we don't want to blame any superstars. No. It's not their fault. Anybody steps in the ring is fantastic.
Starting point is 00:09:55 Some people are never going to be over. Okay? That's not. Ever, ever, ever. And that is not our fault. That is not their fault. It's like a lot of these people that put these tweets to us that are incredibly rude. Very rude.
Starting point is 00:10:08 Very rude. Very rude. Yeah. We got 85,000 tweets from some people. 1,500 followers. It's like the world told you you suck. Right? It's not us saying that.
Starting point is 00:10:18 Nobody cares for your opinion. Okay? Nobody cares for your opinion. It's not us. Some of these wrestlers are the same way. Now, are they able to work? Hopefully. I hope so because we love watching these people work. We love watching the company grow.
Starting point is 00:10:28 We like watching people become superstars. Lyra Valkyria, for instance, going to become a superstar out of NXT. Brom Breaker is on a rocket ship right now, especially after losing to Sami, kind of resettles himself, goes back in there. So hopefully they'll all be able to be in a coming game. But for us, the fact that we got asked and we weren't taking anybody's spots, that was an easy decision.
Starting point is 00:10:50 I did not expect it from these wrestling people to be like this. Genuinely, did not expect it to be this negative. Now, granted, I would like to see the amount of matches that are wrestled with our people versus some of these other people that are in the game, people that have not been invited into the game, but the other people are in the game. I will be excited to see not been invited into the game, but the other people are in the game. We'll be excited to see that in the long run. But this has not been a very welcoming group.
Starting point is 00:11:09 They have not been very welcoming to us. Yeah, it's definitely been interesting. I didn't expect it, but then when you do kind of zoom out from a bird's eye view, most of these marks do have musher brains, so it is one of those things where, like, yes, absolutely shouldn't really take what they have to say very seriously because of that fact. Yeah, but we should be pumped about this. But it's more. And instead we got to deal with all this bullshit.
Starting point is 00:11:32 This is just like whenever we license a show through ESPN. Yep. Yeah, same exact. And one person who is very high decided to lump us in the same press release. So then people started piecing things together. And then all of a sudden, instead of celebrating this this monumental you have full creative control of a show that is on espn for 10 hours a week a deal that anybody who speaks into a microphone or creates anything or is potentially on the up and coming or even in the business should see and be pumped about. Jack, holy shit, that's a rather large deal for everybody.
Starting point is 00:12:07 That's a big deal. Instead, it was like, well, because of you, Steve Young, you're supposed to be Steve Young. They fired all these people that we love for this group of people, and it's like, no. Once again, I don't know if you saw the selfie I took with somebody out in California. I don't know if that money, like, and the way we got, and this needs to be talked about in the sports media world.
Starting point is 00:12:31 They're paying a company, ESPN and Disney, are paying a company, okay, to license the show. There's 15 employees in this particular day. Now, the number that was reported has never been right. But, like, instead of us having to, you know, celebrate with it, and we will. employees in this particular day now the number that was reported has never been right but like instead of us having to you know celebrate with that and we will and we have privately we have oh yeah great conversations but publicly it was like these guys are assholes they take these people's job it's like this this wwe 2k i'm i am jacked yeah i've been in ncaa yeah i've been in madden i've been this one i am jacked in Madden. I've been in this one.
Starting point is 00:13:06 I am jacked to be in. This is a dream come true for me. And instead, we got to deal with these bums who are just making things up, trying to spoil our entire... We can't let them win. No, no, no. Don't spoil it for me. Fuck them.
Starting point is 00:13:17 Me neither. I got a few matches lined up. I got some asses to kick, some old school guys, some new school guys. Who are some old school guys? You know, we'll see. You know, you can pick them out.
Starting point is 00:13:26 You can guess some names. We've seen them pop up here and there. Better not be who I think it is. Yeah, hold on. We'll see. I'll probably stream that one. I don't stream much. I may stream that match.
Starting point is 00:13:36 But to your point, been on NCAA, been on Madden. This one wasn't even really a dream. You know, I know for you, you knew maybe this would be in your future. This wasn't for me. So, same, getting scanned, asking moves, all these different things, and to actually see it kind of come into life, I can't wait until the 31st. Like, I'm not letting these bums ruin it for me. Me neither.
Starting point is 00:13:57 We kind of let it happen there for a little bit because I was a little tired because I traveled overnight to Green Bay. Playing had a brake sensor. So, had to shut the plane down. Good to see you. Only thing broken. Hadane had a brake sensor. So had to shut plane down. Good to see you. Only thing broken. I take the game out. I want to put it back in.
Starting point is 00:14:11 Turn plane back on. I guess turn plane all the way off, turn plane all the way back on was a little bit of a process. Flew back, had a rental car. You know, so not a lot of sleep. And then I wake up to the announcement from the 2K people saying, hey, coming out on 31st now instead of 24th. It was announced as 24th,
Starting point is 00:14:26 but I think it was potentially going to be the 34th. There was, you know, whatever the case was. And I'm reading all these people just burying my dream. I'm like, what are we doing? But you're right, D-Bot. Let's create a player on all these bums or create a superstar. Can we do that? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:40 Can we take it? And then I'm just, I'm punting them out of the arena. Shohei Otani. Bingo. 473 feet to Boner Garage 15. Yeah, exactly. Who is not happy, but a big time wrestling fan talking about it. Anyway, July 31st will be available in WWE 2K.
Starting point is 00:14:56 That's a pretty big deal. Yeah, huge. Going to be sick. They've sent us some videos and some highlights. Yeah. Pretty good. It is hilarious. Your guys' moves, pretty good.
Starting point is 00:15:06 I mean, look out. Very innovative in the ropes. We thought about this and that's another thing. It's not as if we just showed up and did this shit. We thought we put time and effort into what our characters, our talk-to-table tag team is going to do to some of these absolute fools.
Starting point is 00:15:21 If you see this, just know there's pain coming. Yeah, run for the hills. Yeah, look out, okay? Because there's pain on your horizon if you're seeing this across a squared circle. It's ridiculous that we're in that game. It is. It's going to be sweet. I mean, it is.
Starting point is 00:15:35 It is incredibly sweet. It's going to be a blast. And these people are upset. Find somebody else. You know, I'm sick of our celebrations getting ruined by people that just don't understand what the hell is going on and think that they do. And that there won't be a response.
Starting point is 00:15:51 Take the high road. Be classy. I can't believe people are mad about you being in the game, Pat. I legitimately cannot believe it. Well, I think Pat just kind of gets lumped in with the fact that we're in it. But nonetheless, I mean, like you said, this is a show on ESPN. Guess what? We talk about the WWE a lot. And are they talking about it on any other
Starting point is 00:16:10 show on ESPN? No, they're not. We've been to WWE events. We were at WrestleMania. The week we went to WrestleMania, not only were we live, we were at WrestleMania longer than we were in Vegas for the Super Bowl. We dedicate time and put over
Starting point is 00:16:26 the WWE because we all love... You mentioned, you've been a WWE fan. I've played these WWE games and been a WWE fan for over two decades. A long time. Over three-fourths of my life. You're a part of a WWE storyline because you have...
Starting point is 00:16:42 Because I have colitis and Adam Cole got a little chirpy when he was in our old studio and I told him, hey, you need to tone it down. He shoved me and made an ass out of himself and then boom. Yeah, what happens? I fight for your honor. Exactly. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:16:55 So, I mean, I don't know. It's kind of a joke, but like you said, we're not going to let anyone else... We kind of did that for a little bit, but griping was good. Yeah, it was good. I actually enjoyed that. Got to get it off the chest. Yeah. A lot of people don't enjoy that type of thing they kind of get uncomfortable i need to type out
Starting point is 00:17:07 that tweet before i delete it sure you know i need to type out the burial and then go all right if i was to yeah and then even go to the twitter account go to media find some photos of person so i can see how they will take this in real okay yeah would have completely deleted this human from the internet suite then. Then I delete the tweet and I move on because I took the high road but I still want a little bit. Yeah, exactly. Did that with a lot of G1 people yesterday. Myself. I don't know what you
Starting point is 00:17:33 guys did, but I did. Got into your comments? Oh, yeah. There was a few. Actually, I'm sure you saw some of them because you were tagged in a few of them like, hey, keep guarding the wall, brother. Some people told me, hey, you did the wall, brother. Shut up. Some people told me, hey, you did a terrible job.
Starting point is 00:17:47 Tag me in next time. There you go. So, you know, once again, won't let them ruin G1. Joining us now. Formula 1. Joining us now. You did say G1. It's over.
Starting point is 00:17:58 You're messing up Max's last name. It's kind of a better name. It's a lot of things. What are you talking about? Like Maziano, Vanderstop, and G1? I know who Maz is, but Max Verstappen. We did look up, because I did say yesterday, that Aaron Rodgers is on the Mount Rushmore of NFL players.
Starting point is 00:18:14 And that's the biggest league of all time. And I know soccer has massive stuff, so I don't even want to get into the comparison and all that type of stuff. Most successful, you get it. It is an entire, our business lives off of many other, stuff most successful you get it okay it is an entire our business lives off many other this is you get it the nfl the maziano's not even on a mount rushmore of maziano's no did you know that i'm close we looked it up we got some uh both names i think we got some spaghetti gravy uh create some sausage okay there's some sausage vino i
Starting point is 00:18:43 think there is some and they know how the sausage is made. You don't want to see it, but they know how it is. He doesn't even make top four Mozzy honors. So we thought he was chirping a little bit out of the side of his mouth yesterday. Can't wait to catch up with him sometime down the road. But joining us is another man who gets to talk to Moz every single day pretty much. Kind of lets him get away with his shit. Joining us, ladies and gentlemen, friend of the program,
Starting point is 00:19:02 the authority for quarterbacks and offensive football in the nfl dan orlovsky this guy on the game you look sweet dude yeah boys listen you look you look i mean shoulders got a little interesting thing that's why you had that uh oh yeah shake weight that uh shake weight oh yeah yeah the shoulder uh ball he said one year throw was it a shake weight it wasn't That shake weight. Oh, yeah. That thing. Yeah, the shoulder ball. He said, when you're throwing. It wasn't a shake weight. It wasn't a shake weight. Yeah, it was, though.
Starting point is 00:19:29 It was the Randy Johnson shake weight, bone flex. Yeah, it was a ball on a string. Yeah, it was. It was. I think he even did two-handed. It wasn't that. Whatever. We all saw it.
Starting point is 00:19:40 We saw it. He said, when you're throwing touchdowns in the NFL, sometimes your shoulders are going to take a beating. then you came in and did this whole thing anyways i see them i see you that one has something wrong with it right that thing that doesn't just grow like that right that's not natural what that shoulder of yours it's like uh it's like a stop kiss no the other side the other side those aren't your traps. This is... No, I just said you don't have any muscle. This is just bone that sticks out because I don't have any muscle. That's gross.
Starting point is 00:20:10 Oh, okay. What a shirt. She's bone. Just bone. Who's that? Shut up, Connor. Who's behind you? Who's behind you there?
Starting point is 00:20:16 Who we got? Who's that? That's my daughter. Hey, what's up, pretty girl? He says hi. He says hi. Nice. That was very nice. She's much better than her father
Starting point is 00:20:27 hey how you doing all right see you she can probably she is better yeah uh you look awesome I'm happy you dress like that showcasing the body showcasing that uh who's so you're who's owed to you are you okay is everything all right we eat and we doing the whole thing we uh yeah we're having sandwiches you look good dude I'm just I'm just I I'm just skinny. I've tried to put on weight and muscle. I've never been able to. You know how many times I've ever benched? D-Buck can tell you I've never benched 225 in my life. Loser! You didn't need him. Yeah yeah I mean not a lot of quarterbacks do that right? Quarterbacks notoriously no offense any quarterbacks quarterbacks, but you know who you are, bad bodied, okay? And that used to be an old school thing.
Starting point is 00:21:08 I think it's with basketball shooters as well, maybe even throwers. Quarterbacks think, like, don't need to be all tight, don't need to be all jacked, don't need to be all muscular, need to be able to throw, need to be able to flow. But then guys come in the league, and they're absolutely shredded, and they do well, and people are like, maybe you should be in shape. Maybe you should think about lifting a little bit. but you were in that generation where it wasn't like that right uh i was in the generation where like the weight lifting started to become hey you should
Starting point is 00:21:35 do this more type of thing um you know i was a little bit in the like the tim tebow brady quinn world where those dudes were like monsters, but maybe not like the loosest throwers of the football type of thing. Yeah, but like Andrew Luck was. Andrew, freak. But Andrew like. Yeah, AR. I mean, freak.
Starting point is 00:21:59 But I mean, it's not. It's only a couple of them. Yeah, Patrick's not jacked. People attack Patrick. Tom's not jacked. Peyton wasn't jacked. Eli's not jacked. People attack Patrick. Tom's not jacked. Peyton wasn't jacked. Eli's not jacked. Aaron's not jacked. Aaron's shredded, though.
Starting point is 00:22:13 Aaron has been shredded for the last couple weeks. Absolutely shredded. Aaron, when he got in 15, 20... Oh, gosh. He's almost played 20 years. 20 years ago, he wasn't. He was a little bit of a in-between pudgy and shredded guy yeah and i think that guy that's legitimately how quarterbacks were kind of that was just the right move even cj even cj now it's not like cj it's like strapped totally yeah in shape yeah
Starting point is 00:22:35 totally but not like uh yeah you're i think it's the prototype i'm excited to see what the studies are long term you know like looking back on what the case is because justin field's got oh yeah jack absolutely shredded and jacked and was like did it help i don't know we'll find out we have no idea russell wilson's getting back in shape right that's a big thing he's boxing again but he was you know a couple years like when he first got to denver it was like oh wow this russ looks way different than he did in seattle yeah he's like bigger like he had more muscle on him and it didn't work no no interesting so you're supposed to just not be in it makes sense all right way to go dan oh yeah dan yeah prototype yeah breaking stuff gotta be tough
Starting point is 00:23:15 though gotta be because like bad body whatever it is gotta be able to take a shot from the back hit your face and then also we need you up within six, seven seconds. Because play clock's rolling. Do it again. Run in the hurry. And we need you. Do it again. You guys get absurdly paid, which will be this is a good conversation.
Starting point is 00:23:33 And by you guys, I mean obviously the top guys around the NFL and whoever's next in this entire conversation. Jordan Love is allegedly the next one. Or Tua is allegedly on deck as well. What are your thoughts on where the quarterback market is? Because from what it sounded like, Trevor Lawrence getting $55 million a year has really thrown a wrench into all the conversations. Because Joe Burrow has obviously made it to a Super Bowl, has played phenomenal, has led his team from four wins to making it
Starting point is 00:24:02 all the way to the mountaintop, not being able to win. They've beat the Kansas City Chiefs. Like Joe Burrow, whenever he signs a mega deal, people are like, well, yeah, it's Joe Burrow. Trevor Lawrence comes in, though, signs his 55. Now it's just like a massive, well, this is just what the going rate is. So Jordan, everybody's expecting to be 56. Tua, I don't think there's been projections,
Starting point is 00:24:22 but allegedly there's a lot of conversations going on down there. What are your thoughts on where the quarterbacks are right now? And when does it plateau or does it ever? Well, it will plateau eventually. And I think like in the next 18 months, we're going to see that happen. So with the Trevor Lawrence thing, I love Trevor. Massive fan of Trevor's. Obviously unbelievably talented.
Starting point is 00:24:43 Trevor's play hasn't warranted the 55 million dollar a year salary it hasn't what they're banking on and this is probably the first one in a long time it feels like maybe Kyler's where they're banking on we're gonna get in on the low end because what's coming is going to be so much greater than what we've seen now Trevor's had moments of like pretty darn good really good we all thought he would take a jump last year he was I guess it felt like starting that and then the injury happened to the knee and whatnot so you know I said this it's when the deal was kind of coming out I was like Trevor hasn't ascended into the elite quarterback conversation he hasn't ascended into the we quarterback conversation. He hasn't ascended into the, we're going to win because of you conversation. The Jags are just banking on that he's going to.
Starting point is 00:25:29 And obviously they hopefully, they believe that they're right. Has Tua done more than Trevor Lawrence in his career? Absolutely. Has Jordan done love, Jordan Love done more than Trevor Lawrence has done in his career? Yeah. So that's why the Trevor Lawrence contract, I think, with the other two guys is so interesting because if you're Jordan Love's group, you're like, our guy for 10 games last year has played better than Trevor ever has for a 10-game stretch. And so the conversation starts above what Trevor got.
Starting point is 00:26:00 And then the 201 is fascinating. The 201 is interesting to me because I think if you're the Dolphins, you sit there and go, it hasn't gotten done. Why? Why has that deal not gotten done yet? It's one of two things. Either that they believe it's more because of Mike McDaniel than Tua,
Starting point is 00:26:18 or two, that only because he's only played one full season. And so is it a lack of performance or belief that the performance is sustainable or the health? That's the only, I mean, because it's unquestionably the best season that they've had at that position in 25 years. Best, not even close. He threw for 4,700 yards.
Starting point is 00:26:38 So to not get that deal done yet, you're sitting there going, well, what's the hesitation from the Dolphins side? And if you're Tua, yet you're sitting there going, well, what's the hesitation from the Dolphins' side? And if you're Tua, and the number is even remotely close to what Trevor got, why would you not run and take it, considering 18 months ago, we saw that season in 22 where multiple times got taken off the field because of head injury. Yeah, but he learned jiu-jitsu, obviously, and he's all the way back, and he's going to be,
Starting point is 00:27:06 they say, more active because he's lost more weight in the pocket, going to go back to extending plays. So I believe everybody around Tua believes that he's going to be the best that he has ever been somehow. And in his mind, if they are near $55 million a year, that's phenomenal. Congrats to all of them. Congrats to all of them for this.
Starting point is 00:27:26 It's not an easy job, obviously. You don't just fall into a $55 million a year payday. There's a lot of work that goes into that. But if he does get that, it's like he's got McDaniel drawing up plays for him. They have to get a Tyreek Hill deal done, which, assumingly, they'll be able to do that as well. He's in Miami, which is obviously in the state of Florida, for no state income tax. Miami's like one of the cities where everybody is trying to move to
Starting point is 00:27:51 at this exact moment and have been since 2020 for some reason. I don't know if anybody remembers why that was happening or anything like that. So it's like dream situation almost for Tua. If they're trying to pay him, you would assume that he would want that. So maybe there is just a little bit of a hang up on what the price is, what the cost is. You know what I think of too as well? Chris Greer, who's their German manager, has obviously done a real... Last year, they just caught the bad break of health. So if you look at these coaches that come from the same world that mike mcdaniel come from they're
Starting point is 00:28:25 brilliant coaches you're talking kyle you're talking sean mcveigh you're talking lafleur those are like the main ones right now in my mind okay so kyle shanahan in san francisco they not only take trey lance but they pay jimmy grappolo a ton of money neither of those guys work out so you're sitting there if you're the general manager, you're watching San Francisco and a very similar style coach go, well, you know, the two guys that they really were banking on being the guy didn't work out. And then the person that they didn't believe or maybe weren't banking on
Starting point is 00:29:01 being the guy, Brock Purdy's become the guy. Okay, so was it more the quarterback or the coach? Sean McVay took Jared Goff to a Super Bowl and then all of a sudden got rid of him. So, like, is it really the quarterback or the coach? Matt LaFleur took Aaron Rodgers to back-to-back MVPs and all of a sudden Jordan Love steps in and there's, like, not skipping a beat. So I'm saying all that to say I can see if general managers,
Starting point is 00:29:24 when you get coaches that come from this system believe hey unless the guy plays at a level that is so different than everybody else we're not going to cross a path of or a certain point number wise it's interesting that you say that because obviously jordan loves contract is a massive piece of the conversation and that is seemingly going to get done and LeFleur is one of those guys that you're talking about and I think LeFleur is also seeing his offense for the first time with Jordan Love because the last offense was a combination of the West Coast offense with Aaron Rodgers and also LeFleur they were kind of coming together now he's really seeing his offense come to fruition but everybody in Green Bay just knows Jordan's the guy.
Starting point is 00:30:07 It would be very fascinating if down in Miami they were like, we can get another Tua? Can we get another Tua? That would be very fascinating to do, though. That would be a very interesting move in this particular time because that is not a conversation that a lot of GMs have been able to get to whenever it comes to the quarterback position. Every other position they've been able to do. Can we find another wide receiver? Yeah. Yeah. Moses said, yeah, we can do it. Can we find another running back? Yeah, I think we can. Can
Starting point is 00:30:34 we find another pass rusher? I think we can. They've let all those guys go. Quarterback though, if there is a sign of promise at this, at 2024, 2023, 2022. It's like, nah, gotta sign him because we have no idea what door two is going to be. Especially if you drafted him. Bingo. Here's the thing. I don't think there's five guys in the league that can play in Mike McDaniel's
Starting point is 00:30:58 offense the way that Tua does. But there is evidence that coaches that come from this system agree that they have a little bit more of an idea who's behind number two and or door number three excuse me more so than other places i would like for me i this would be a no-brainer i would sign to a i think to his play has warranted that but that's why my question was like, why has it not gotten done? It's either they believe that there is another option quarterback-wise
Starting point is 00:31:28 or they're still scared of health stuff. Two years ago, they almost beat the Bills in Buffalo with Skyler Thompson. Just throwing that out there. And if your offense makes people wide open, if you have Tyree Kill, you can see how they maybe hang that over to his head. But Tua just puts that thing. So accurate. So good. That's why his head. But Tua just puts that thing so accurate. So good.
Starting point is 00:31:45 That's why he was, that's why it was, you know, tank for Tua. That was his elite trait, like that intermediate accuracy, quick decisions, which that's what you see. And Dan said he doesn't think there's five guys in the league that can play in that offense. It is obviously a completely different iteration of the offense because all the speed, motions, and shifts and things like that. But speaking of offenses, in the league right now,
Starting point is 00:32:07 will love his Titans done a bunch around him going into this next year. Obviously J McDaniels, Caleb Williams in their new positions. What offense do you see making the biggest jump this upcoming season? Indy, if Anthony Richardson stays on the field, it's Indy. And I don't even think it's close. I have, you know, so there's two conversations around his D-butt. So, one, I really believe he's the one guy that can flip the conference upside down. If he is player-wise what he showed the potential to be coming out of school and then for those couple games last year, you're talking, oh my gosh, this team is absolutely contending to win that division
Starting point is 00:32:48 and be in a difficult situation. Two, everyone continues to say, well, he's got to change his playing style. Why? Agreed. Why? If we were going to make him Kirk Cousins, he would have been in the fourth round. I don't want him to be Kirk Cousins. I want him to be Cam Newton. I want him to be Lamar Jackson. I want him to be Josh Allen.
Starting point is 00:33:12 And also, for everybody that says this, okay, like we got to make him change his playing style, point to me the guy that changed his playing style and it worked out. See, in my head head as you mentioned that I think of a bunch of people who are never able to change her playing style and then the conversation is always they are who we thought they were like Andrew Luck was told you need change your playing style he refused to do so because he thought he was disrespecting that's how I play football Josh Allen they say you need to change your playing style Josh Allen said when it's third down we're in the red zone and it's fourth quarter like there's no chance i'm gonna change it because i can do what i can do people
Starting point is 00:33:52 said lamar wouldn't be able to have success lamar is still lamar jackson he's never really changed or batten and i even whenever they're telling him to play wide receiver coming out of the draft joey burrow maybe that'd be the one because one. He was put your head down, take a hit his first year, and then he obviously got hurt and they kind of had to retool that. But I don't know. He still kind of plays the same. He's just not taking hits like he was. Mike Vick had a quick run
Starting point is 00:34:16 with Andy Reid when he came back. He wasn't the same. But I don't think he changed his style that much, D-Butt. I think the offense would just make throwing easier for him because he was like, oh, guys are open now, so I could launch it. And don't – Michael Vick on a football field would take that 10 times out of 10
Starting point is 00:34:36 if I had to watch it on TV. He might have been a little bit older, too. He might have had to use the arm more, which his arm was prolific. Oh, yeah. I mean, his arm, he could have been. Now, there's a guy that, no, it would have been impossible to get him to agree to this because of what he was able to do. And they were actually, remember the commercial?
Starting point is 00:34:55 The Michael Vick experience. The Michael Vick experience. It's like he got to do that every day in real life. People were signing up for that, so he would never stop that. But if Michael Vick had to be, for whatever reason, the game, you're only allowed to be in a pocket, he would have been, he would have been Tua. He would have been, like, just the way he was accurate and could throw.
Starting point is 00:35:14 He threw that ball out of the arena. Yeah. Out of the stadium. That's right. He had the arm. Anthony Richardson also can spin the shit out of him. He really can. And I think as he continues to develop in that, it's going to be great. But the reason why he was selected number four overall by the Indianapolis Colts is because he could get out
Starting point is 00:35:27 and he could move and he has the sickest cyclone spike in the history of football after he scores touchdowns so he's gonna have to continue to do stuff like this and a lot of people talk about like oh he takes massive shots it's like there there wasn't that many massive shots awkward they were just awkward shots unlucky shots almost last year. And if he can maintain his health, which is a massive if, because obviously Florida and Indianapolis in his first year and everything, it's a massive if. He's very, very young.
Starting point is 00:35:56 But if he can do what he did for four games last year for an entire season, think about what happened with Gardner Minshew and Shane Steichen. Yeah. I mean, just think about it. That's my thing, too. And A.D. Mitchell. Yes, bingo. Josh Downs also got hurt last year. Here's the thing, though, Pat, sometimes.
Starting point is 00:36:14 I think with some of these athletic quarterbacks, yeah, he's unbelievably talented. I think with some of the athletic quarterbacks, the conversation's always, well, he's going to have to stay healthy and avoid hits. I feel like these guys start to like hear that. And then it's always like, Oh my gosh, I took a hit. Am I okay? Type of thing. Like, dude, you're six foot five, 250 pounds. You're going to take some hits, dude. You're going to be okay.
Starting point is 00:36:38 Like sometimes you're going to take a hit and you're going to hit the ground and you're gonna be like, Oh my gosh, am I good? And you're like three seconds. There you go. Yeah, you're good. So there's a little bit of like learning how to take NFL hits and learning that NFL hits are real too. So it's, you don't always have to come out of the game. You know, you don't always just give yourself five seconds. It doesn't mean you have a concussion. You know, it's there, there's people now appointed to like, hey, he took a shot that we didn't see, maybe check. You know, so I think he's got to get a little bit used to being like a little bit more Cam Newton, Josh Allen-ish,
Starting point is 00:37:12 where it's like, yeah, I just, this is the style of football I play. I'm going to take some hits. I'm not coming out of the game. Yeah, it's going to hurt. Like, it's going to hurt bad. Like, that is a part of being a quarterback, which is why not a lot of people can play the position of quarterback. You're going to take shots. That's how it is.
Starting point is 00:37:26 We talked about Dan being skin and bones, actually. He doesn't have a dislocated shoulder there. That's just because he hasn't had sandwiches in a month and a half or whatever. That's just why he looks like he's skin and bones. But he's going to have to be able to stand in a pocket just like this and somebody who has paid a lot of money and practices all year round to be explosive and to hit people is going to spear you in your spine.
Starting point is 00:37:47 And your face is going to get whipped off the ground. Every bone in your body is going to hurt. And the only reason why I know that is because I accidentally tackled somebody one time and I took a shot to my back. My whole body hurt. I felt it through my whole body.
Starting point is 00:38:04 And it was like I got up and I just walked over to the bench, right, to Vinatieri, and I sat down. I'm not cut out to be a quarterback. But that just comes with it. Like that's NFL football. You're going to get hit. So it's like I'm not saying that that has ever happened for Anthony Richardson, but I think with a little bit of experience now on what to expect,
Starting point is 00:38:19 what Mondays feel like after a game, what Tuesdays feel like after a game, getting back into it. We're on the rise. I like where your head's at. Hey, I like where your head's at, Dan Orlovsky. I love what you're saying. I just don't want people to tell him to change his style. I think you've got to be you. I think that if you change your style, one of two things happens.
Starting point is 00:38:40 Like, change it. I'm not saying learn. Change it. One, you become a lesser player or two you're you shorten your career like that like you just do no you're no one's like sitting like oh my gosh anthony richardson has to become this elite pocket passer and never use his talent so i would say the same for josh allen i have i would say the same for jalen hurts i would say the same for kyler murray like you can't change why what got you there is what got you there.
Starting point is 00:39:07 Amen. I agree completely. Let's talk about a guy that hasn't changed ever. Go ahead, Connor. Yeah, Dan, how are we feeling about Aaron Rodgers and the Jets? I actually last week when the Texans reported for training camp picked them to win the Super Bowl, and then kind of every time I remember that Coach Sala is their head coach, I kind of questioned my decision there.
Starting point is 00:39:24 What are you thinking regarding the Jets and Aaron Rodgers? And do you think with that revamped offensive line and, you know, added Mike Williams that we might see, you know, a MVP season out of Aaron and the boys? Oh, I think Aaron is going to pick up very similar to what he was in 2020 and 21. Is that right? Yeah. So that MVP type of season, I don't know if it'll
Starting point is 00:39:47 be that grand, but I do think that he's going to play at an awesome level. You know, I was watching first take today and mad dog, and I always laugh at myself when everyone goes, well, you know, last time we saw Aaron Rogers play, it wasn't that great. I think he threw like 26 touchdowns and 3,700 yards with like a broken thumb. So, you know, the context of everything gets lost so often. And so I think it's well known the Jets will be awesome if they stay healthy, if they stay healthy, and that's the biggest. It's as big a dice roll and finger-crossed situation as we've had in the NFL. But you're talking about a situation where you have to tell
Starting point is 00:40:27 Aaron Rodgers, who with one of the better dual backs in the league in Brees Hall and one of the best young wide receivers in the league, Gary Wilson, hey dude, I need you to score 17 points. If you can score 17 points, we are going to win or have the chance to win basically every game that we're in. That's it. You know how easy that is for Aaron? 17 because he doesn't give the ball away. So you're never going to be in negative situations or stressing your defense. You have the opportunity to then sit there and go,
Starting point is 00:41:00 well, this is the perfect combination. A defense that suffocates you, a quarterback that doesn't give the football away, and that is deadly with above-average talent with him. So I think that the whole conversation around Aaron, as a player, whatever you think about him, I don't really care. Why didn't you vaccinate him? He didn't get vaccinated.
Starting point is 00:41:21 And it's always the, well, the last time we saw him play, he's going to be, okay, guys, the last time we saw him play, he's going to be – okay, guys, the last time we saw Tiger Woods playing really good golf before he went and won in Augusta didn't matter. So I just think it sometimes is so reckless and stupid. I don't know if Aaron's going to be pumped that you just tied him to Tiger Woods at this stage of Tiger's career because we saw his leg at the U.S. Amateur Championship that Charlie was playing in.
Starting point is 00:41:42 Oh, gosh. Whoa, body. I don't know how he gets around any course. Seriously. That thing looks like it's zippered to get, honestly. It is. It is. Maybe appreciate him a lot more.
Starting point is 00:41:51 Yeah, absolutely. Yep. Thanks for toughing it out at these courses. Yeah. You know, we're saying, oh, this guy's going to act like he's hurt now because he hits a bad shot. I don't say that,
Starting point is 00:42:00 but the Tiger Woods haters say that. Sure. It's like, yeah, he probably is. Yeah, you ever walked 18 holes of that. Sure. It's like, yeah, he probably is. You ever walked 18 holes of golf? Dan, I actually stopped going to a golf tournament. Strictly. I was sick of walking. Strictly because of that.
Starting point is 00:42:15 Yeah. Wait, you stopped going because you had to walk? Wait, is this Tahoe? Yeah, I mean, that's a massive piece of it. You got to prepare for that. You got to be prepared. Walk? Yeah, I mean, that's a massive piece of it. You got to prepare for that. You got to be prepared. You got to be prepared to walk at elevation 18 holes. I think they're saying it was like eight miles.
Starting point is 00:42:33 Oh, and it's – Yeah. And every shot matters. Yeah, and every shot's not going the shortest distance of the course either. We're taking some – Heading over into the woods. Yeah, we're seeing some. So we're in there.
Starting point is 00:42:45 And how many times have I walked a golf course in my life before my first time at that American century championship, Dan? Zero. Bingo. How many 18 straight holes do you think rounds of golf have I played before that American century championship? Zero. Bingo.
Starting point is 00:43:02 Yeah. So like you're talking two things that came together at one time. Those shoes, I just bought them two days before the tournament. That was a mess. Blisters? Oh, blisters, bruised toes. I was exhausted. I sucked at golf.
Starting point is 00:43:12 See, I hate taking a golf cart when I play golf. I hate it. That must be nice. You just are able to go to a golf course where you just show up and are able to walk around. I understand you're a big country club kid. I'm not a country club. Never been one. But I can't stand holding people up, being in people's way on a golf course or being held up anywhere so cart always going to be the thing and also i can't
Starting point is 00:43:33 do 18 holes that is way too long that is way too who has the time to do 18 holes so that american century championship was really a bang pow yeah just right to my whole body that I did not see. I said, Duffner does this. Right? Oh, yeah. This is what Duffner does this. Okay, I can do this. Jay Duff can do this.
Starting point is 00:43:52 You ever seen the Robin Williams? I'm sure you have. The skit on golf. Yeah, yeah. There's some Robin Williams shit that popped up the other day because I think it was an anniversary maybe of some sort. And just everything he... That guy was an animal.
Starting point is 00:44:03 Yeah. Very small. Absolute weapon absolutely it was his birthday okay happy birthday hey happy birthday up there rob yeah the birthday rob way to go in this entire thing uh now ty has a question for you and we addressed it early but i do think this is a conversation that nobody is really talking about because everybody thinks it's just going to get done go ahead ty yeah dan uh going back to Jordan Love, I'm one of the guys, and I think a lot of Packers fans are in the camp that like,
Starting point is 00:44:27 hey, you got to pay this guy, give him whatever he wants. But do you think there is some trepidation from the Packers on giving him this big contract? Because like you said, he basically had like a 10-game sample size where it was like, okay, he can be the guy. And also, everyone kind of thinks this is going to get done and just assumes it's going to get done. But at what point could this potentially become a distraction
Starting point is 00:44:49 if he doesn't sign this quickly? And, like, are there any negatives to him not being at camp right now? And we have some tweets coming from training camp at Green Bay. Jordan Love is out in the middle of a monsoon with the team, okay? He could be inside. He could be at the Don Hudson Center inside indoor facility. He could be over at the Roshanesh Center,
Starting point is 00:45:10 which is where Monday Night Raw was last night. Instead, he's out there with the boys, which adds even more into the convo. This deal's getting done. This deal's getting done. But it's not done. But it's not done. I don't think that there's any negative. Listen, he's still still young so you want as many reps
Starting point is 00:45:28 as possible you know you're always trying to build reps so those matter uh it's still what july 22nd so you're still okay i don't think it becomes an issue unless it gets into like you're talking second week of august maybe ty and it seems like we're far, far away from that, I would have zero trepidation of giving him the contract that it seems that he's going to get. I think that the timeline, okay, so they move up in the first round to select him. They are patient within his first three years of allowing him to develop, learn to pro, game, how to to mature all that stuff then they give
Starting point is 00:46:07 him the opportunity get on the field with the roster that they had envisioned probably two or three years in the making and it wasn't like his first six or seven games were bad you know like that's again people just say the most ridiculous stuff it wasn't like this was a 180 degree it was like there were moments and you were waiting for consistency and then the last 10 weeks that's when it took off i would have zero trepidation um in part because of the plan and the timeline two because the the person that he is and you see like the character and you hear the stories of the leadership and character that is developed and three hear the stories of the leadership and character that he's developed. And three, because the roster is so young and deep and talented.
Starting point is 00:46:50 This isn't a situation where you sit there and go, well, if we pay Jordan Love, then we're going to lose two or three guys in a year or two that are really important players because they've drafted and developed so well. So this is an easy decision. Pay Jordan Love. And I think that realistically, you have a very legit Super Bowl window for like 36 months. Very legit. Oh, yeah. That's awesome for Green Bay.
Starting point is 00:47:17 Seemingly always get it right. We were there last night, and I talked to the crowd during one of the commercial breaks, and I said, is Jordan Love going to sign his contract? And they go, ah! And I go, are the Green Bay Packers going to win a Super Bowl soon? Ah! They all agreed to it.
Starting point is 00:47:33 That's just how expectations are in Green Bay and always have been. And Jordan Love has handled all of it. And right across the street from Lambeau, there's this fence in front of a house and it's just,, I don't know, let's say it's a block long, and it says, The New Pack or Love Affair. And it's painted on there, and you've got all their fans that were going to training camp walking by it. And almost, I assume they smack on that thing.
Starting point is 00:47:58 It's like, it really is a perfect gelling, it seems like, for Jordan and the city of Green Bay in the time that it is following the Aaron exit, which followed the Brett exit, which were obviously all kind of a little, I don't want to say tumultuous, but it did become a little bit dramatic. That's why I think them not having the deal done is like, come on. Like, we've had quarterback drama in the past. There's no reason to do it again. But once again, I've been wrong about Goode tounst, that guy right there, for numerous years now. And he's had it
Starting point is 00:48:30 figured out. Packers fans aren't worried. Seems like Jordan's not worried. Seems like Guttekunst isn't worried. But a deal isn't done yet. Let's assume they're going to get it done. All right, Dan, we appreciate the hell out of you, man. You're going to go work out, maybe get some sun, maybe go walk a golf course, 18 holes, maybe go play some golf. No, none of that. I've already worked out, no golf today. We might make the absolutely absurd decision to go to Hershey Park tonight for tomorrow, but we'll see.
Starting point is 00:49:00 Well, you should just keep driving. Kennywood. Kennywood's a far superior park than hershey park what is what is what is this and where is it all right oh ladies and gentlemen wow it's a tough exit it's tough you know i know kennywood i did that strictly for one person who works at a tire shop right there. That clip. Shane Gillis? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:28 He's a big Hershey Park fan. He's a big Hershey Park fan. Anytime we bring up Kenny Wood on this particular program, I would normally get a message about Hershey Park is far superior to Kenny Wood. It's not even a question. He's wrong. Shane Gillis could not be more wrong about that. And I'm sure there's a lot of people who have not visited Kenny Wood from that part of the state who would just run their dumb mouths. Kenny Wood is the spot in Pennsylvania. You just need to about that. And I'm sure there's a lot of people who have not visited Kennywood from that part of the state who will just run their dumb mouths.
Starting point is 00:49:46 Kennywood is the spot in Pennsylvania. You just need to understand that. I think prices have even gone down. Really? Is that right? What amusement park prices have gone down so more people could come? None that are good. Usually the bad ones. That's it. Don't know much about Kennywood.
Starting point is 00:50:02 These shitty ones, the prices go down. No, they're looking out for the community. They're looking out for their customers. With those wooden roller coasters. Well, they got one. We got the oldest one in America, the racers. Usually it's not a good day when we're talking roller coasters.
Starting point is 00:50:16 You're talking about the Thunderbird, pal? This is the Thunderbird. You're not looking for old roller coasters. Speaking of a man who could maybe stick up for Kenny Woods' honor, because you've never been there, so you need to shut up. I've been there. I've been there, I think, at some point in my life. You've never been there.
Starting point is 00:50:29 Yeah, you've never been there. We had that Plumfield trip we all went. Well, Kenny Wood Day is once a year for every school district. I told you. One time. It's like basically every year that happens. I only went once. What a racket Kenny Wood has on the entire city of Pittsburgh, by the way.
Starting point is 00:50:43 Smart. Every school is forced to buy tickets. Come on down! It's Kennywood Day. You're not going? There was a few years where the McPhees did not go. Literally the only people in the entire town. Me and my brother, we're just the only people.
Starting point is 00:50:58 Who would you do? I kicked the soccer ball off someone's mouth. I think Jay probably played some video games and we moved the next year and it was like, we can't do that again. We go down to John Eagle, we get our Kennywood tickets, we go there. They basically just take two months worth of paychecks.
Starting point is 00:51:14 You know, yep, God do it though. Everybody has to do it. And then we helped build the Potato Patch, which is the greatest fries concession of all time. Kennywood is far superior. Dan Erlovsky needs to keep driving. Do the eight-hour drive to Pittsburgh.
Starting point is 00:51:30 Get to Kenny Wood. Man from Pittsburgh who we did a lot of chatting here about the Indianapolis Colts, obviously, today with Dan Erlovsky. I love what he was saying. I loved everything he was saying about the Indianapolis Colts. And I agree because we got Shane Steichen. But we also did a lot of chatter about the Chiefs yesterday, still being the Chiefs, and a man who is currently residing
Starting point is 00:51:47 in Hammer, Don Tan, said that he might have made a mistake or an oopsie yesterday whenever he just gave the title to the Chiefs. Tone Diggs, what are you saying? Listen, that Boston scumbag has said a lot of stuff, but what he's saying about Kenny Wood is absurd, okay?
Starting point is 00:52:04 Thank you, Tone. Thank you, Tone. I can't wait until he comes out in WWE 2K because I've been playing a lot lately. I haven't gotten the ring yet. I've been playing outside of the ring with Dom's character. It's been awesome. It's been absolutely awesome. I suggest that, but I can't wait to beat Connor's ass next week with Dom.
Starting point is 00:52:23 I said a lot of things yesterday about the Chiefs, and, you know, we're all screwed, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And I even said, you know, yesterday that, you know, the Bills, they lost a lot of people. The Ravens have a new O-line. And there's some other teams that, you know, people are ranking high, but they don't have a chance.
Starting point is 00:52:42 And then I said the Texans yesterday aren't going to their head. And I heard a groan. I don't know who it was from on stage yesterday, and it got me thinking. And the Texans do, I think, kind of remind me of the Bengals from a few years ago when it was Burroughs' second year. They have a lot of similarities when they went from a terrible team, they got the quarterback they liked, and then it was a drastic improvement. In year two, the Bengals did go to the Super Bowl under Burrow
Starting point is 00:53:06 with a stellar, stellar, stellar offense, was loaded with wide receiver weapons. Same thing with the Texans here. Nico Collins you have. Tank Dell's coming back from an injury. Oh, and then they added Stephon Diggs. They have Dalton Schultz. And who was the running back on that Bengals team?
Starting point is 00:53:20 Oh, it was Joe Mixon. And the Texans' offense last year year it was good it looked great but like numbers wise they were right in the middle pack 13th points per game 15th yards 20th on third down 16th in red zone so the second years for for stroud and then slowick in that offense like i think it's only going to go up especially if they get a running game under mixing mixing last year with their running game was 29th in yards per rush, 28th in rushing yards a game. They almost had no running game.
Starting point is 00:53:48 So even if they have a little bit of a running game, the offense is going to get better. Also, that offense was 30th in penalties, so they're going to clean that up. So on the offensive side of the ball, I think they can get better. And then on the defensive side of the ball, obviously it's the second year for Will Anderson. And then they bring in Daniil Hunter, who had 16.5 sacks last last year derrick stingley jr who was a number two overall pick a few years
Starting point is 00:54:08 ago hasn't played a full season yet so i think they're gonna get better especially like we talk about slowick and the offense second year it's the miko second year with his defense and the whole team as well so i think yesterday i may have disrespected the texans a little bit because i think they could potentially make a Bengals-type run. And I think they're the type of team that they're so young that they don't even know. Like, I don't even think they would be – I don't – like, the Bills, they're not beating the Chiefs
Starting point is 00:54:34 because the Chiefs have their number over and over and over. Same thing with the Ravens. But the Texans, I think, are too young to know. So I think I was a little too disrespectful to the Texans last year. Not to the Ravens. You don't think the Ravens are the team that need to be maybe in a conversation alongside the Chiefs and the AFC. You think it's the Houston Texans tone down there in Hammer.
Starting point is 00:54:52 Don! Don! I just think they need to be talked about more because the teams that are talked about right now are the Bills, the Ravens, and the Bengals. And the Chiefs have taken care of those teams besides the Bengals. The Bengals have actually done very well against the Chiefs, but I'd like to see Burrow coming off that injury with a brand-new, fresh hairstyle again for Joe.
Starting point is 00:55:11 But I think the Texans just kind of give me the vibes. I like the vibes of the Texans. The hairstyle has nothing to do with how he's going to play football. The helmet is actually fitting a little better. It might. He had great hair going. He did. He has very good hair.
Starting point is 00:55:23 He goes with the buzz cut. Thank you for that tone. And obviously, as an Indianapolis Colts fan, we hope none hair going. He did. He has very good hair. He goes with the buzz cut. Thank you for that tone. And obviously, as an Indianapolis Colts fan, we hope none of what you said matters. We hope that that team can bust from within. We hope that they have so much success that they can't handle it and they all try to fight each other. Because the more I think about the Houston Texans,
Starting point is 00:55:38 the more upsetting it is that we're in their town now. We are in the Houston Texans' town. The AFC South runs through the fourth largest city in the United States of America. Is it third now? Did they pass Chicago? Don't think so, but I think they're nipping at their heels. Yeah, so with that fan base, too, if they get back, which they are. Sold out season tickets, I think, for the first time in a long time.
Starting point is 00:56:02 Oh, no. You guys are screwed. It's a stride house. No, still a lot for the first time in a long time. Oh, no. Hey, you guys are screwed. It's the Stride House. No, still the Lod House. I don't worry about it. You heard what Dan just said. That wasn't even on my list of teams. They are.
Starting point is 00:56:12 Turn the whole conference upside down. Yeah, the Indianapolis Colts are doing that. Yeah, you come into the Lod House, you got big problems if you're striding. Stride House. Yeah, of course. And they're going to be worried about the Colts, you know, because Gardner Minshew had their number last year. Yep.
Starting point is 00:56:24 He just didn't win the games, but he had their number. He was walking right down. Anthony Richardson's going to do a little cycling, spikeling thing. Yeah. Oh, yeah. It's going to be game, set, match. Yeah. Or.
Starting point is 00:56:35 He fouled everything he said. 30th in penalties, 29-28 in rush game. It's like, damn. Joe Mixon's a dog. Yeah. Slow it back. Talk about that continuity. They go with the defense another year.
Starting point is 00:56:45 Yep. Daniil Hunter, Talon Will Anderson, maybe teaching him some game. Stephon Diggs, obviously. D'Amico tank. Holy shit. Schultz. Don't believe it! This Giving Tuesday, the Center for Addiction and Mental Health is counting on your support.

We are incredibly excited because the road to the Lombardi has already started for way more than half of the NFL. The road to the Lombardi has already started for way more than half of the NFL.
Starting point is 00:58:11 And we are giddy to watch these boys get back out there and earn the title of being world champions. Obviously, we'll continue to chat about that. Speaking of world champions, Austin Rivers will join us in a matter of moments to chit-chat about the Olympics and what this United States basketball team has to do to become actual world champions at the olympics starting in uh week no this weekend i think sunday is this full play game the entire thing is started that is great news and then obviously there's drama around the sports world we'll keep everybody updated on everything the toxic table is here almost a week away from debuting in wwe2k at boston connor and at ty schmidt got the wise man on your shirt. That's the best animal I've seen on your chest.
Starting point is 00:58:47 Yeah, no doubt about it. I'm just worried about him. Haven't really seen much since that son of a bitch, Sakoa, put him through a table. I'm just hoping he's okay, and my thoughts and prayers are always with him. Yeah, we love Paul Heyman. Truly, genuinely am a massive fan of Paul Heyman.
Starting point is 00:59:01 Everything he does is gold. One of the greatest speakers publicly, orators in the history of society. But you boys have a chance to maybe catch up with him in WWE 2K. And I'm excited for you guys to earn your WWE Hall of Fame nods in that game starting
Starting point is 00:59:16 next Wednesday, Ty Schmidt. Absolutely. Not a lot of people are happy about it. We're happy about it. And just know that when you see us draped in gold, a lot of blood, sweat, and tears will have went into that pursuit for a championship title you're damn right congrats to you guys also congrats to nine-year nfl vet darius j butler and 2k next wednesday i'm glad they pushed it back too i got a couple more seasons i get under my belt in that college football and then uh you know get in the ring yeah i think there was potentially a conversation about that you know it's like um
Starting point is 00:59:43 when it was supposed to go how how it was supposed to go. Next Wednesday will be the official launch, and I can't wait to see everybody champions by next Wednesday night. Oh, yeah, without a doubt. Joining us now live from Manatee, Ohio, is another man who's in WWE 2K. He's a college football national champion. He was in NCAA there. He's a Super Bowl champion.
Starting point is 01:00:02 He's a Madden. Jeez. I think next Wednesday, with a diving jaw off the top rope, will be a World Heavyweight Champion in WWE. Ladies and gentlemen, former president of Ohio, AJ Hall.
Starting point is 01:00:15 Yeah! Can't wait. I can't wait, man. You tell me people are pretty upset that we might be getting on there, but hey, it's alright. That doesn't rain on our parade. our parade i'm pumped you're right and it's not a might get on there you're definitely on there i mean having the work has been put in and you were just a few days removed from a new jaw moth face swollen and had 40 cameras surrounding you the behind the scenes video is also hilarious uh that they kind of pieced together for this entire thing excited
Starting point is 01:00:44 about it i was in Green Bay last night. What a city, man. I drove through, like, actually ten neighborhoods and showed up at Lambeau, drive by there, head over to the – Resch, the Resch Center, R-E-S-C-H. Beautiful, beautiful arena. I mean, it was filled, obviously packed. They had training camp practice day one there yesterday,
Starting point is 01:01:05 so I think there was a lot of activity in Green Bay. That's a beautiful area. Shout out to everybody. People were much nicer to me than I thought. Really? Yeah. When the music hit, there was quite a pop football town. Yeah, sure.
Starting point is 01:01:15 So I was really appreciative of that. Well, Green Bay, they're the nicest people in America, the people there in Green Bay. They were phenomenal, but I was seeing some things from Green Bay people whenever there was a lot of things taking place with Green Bay Packers and front of the program Aaron and other stuff that has certainly happened. So last night I was a little bit like, oh, I wonder what this would be. Legitimately was like, oh, I wonder what this would be like.
Starting point is 01:01:34 A lot of love. So I appreciate everybody that came to Monday Night Raw last night. As I was driving to the airport after the show drive-thru, did you guys hang out at Margarita's a lot? Yeah, we went to Margarita's a decent amount. We used to get, in OTAs, did you guys get gift cards for, like, we'd get, like, three or four gift cards for meals during OTAs in a package, and we'd always have Margarita's.
Starting point is 01:01:54 So, yeah, we were there. Okay, so that's on the way to Cabela's, right? Margarita's right here. Cabela's a little bit past on the left. Feels like that was a happy, because then Oneida Casino is up there on the right. It feels like that was a very happening part. As I was is up there on the right it feels like that was a very happening part as i was driving by margaritas i almost stopped and was like i gotta go see what's in my big ass palm tree in front of it and there's not really much
Starting point is 01:02:15 you know so you're just driving not much and in a fucking massive palm tree with margaritas and i'm like oh that's got to be like one of the spots and then like right in the distance big ass cabela's i'm like oh yeah this is where we need to head and then a night at casino was literally on the right side i'm like this is the area this is the this is the main drag that's where you hang out yeah it felt good it's a beautiful town 107 522 people i think it said the population in that place it It is a small town. Training camp is the time of year, too, though. That's when, like, I cannot imagine the merch sales they must have from the pro shop during training camp
Starting point is 01:02:53 because there are thousands and thousands of people there every single day. A lot of them taking tours of Lambeau. All of them want to go into the pro shop, check everything out. So, yeah, people are pretty excited, I think, in Green Bay right now. Yeah, but the amount, amen, but the amount that that town is tied to its football team is so cool. Like, that was very cool. I just
Starting point is 01:03:12 would like to say to the town of Green Bay, played there, we stayed in Appleton, though. And then we missed an exit, actually, so getting from Appleton to the game, it was a whole song and dance, and the weather was terrible. So there was no experience of Green Bay at all. It was, hey, we're in there, we're playing a game and then we're the hell out of there.
Starting point is 01:03:28 Like that is kind of how it all went. Called a game at Green Bay when Detroit won like 30-some-nothing week 18. Aaron got concussed like play two or whatever. So I didn't get to experience it much. Yesterday driving through and like trying to like see, you felt like you were in like a football video game. Like you literally, everybody had Packers stuff. and trying to see, you felt like you were in a football video game.
Starting point is 01:03:47 You literally, everybody had Packers stuff. There was Packers flags on every single house pretty much. There was Packers merch everywhere. Everybody walking the street, and I think it is because training camp had Packers shit on. You go into Monday Night Raw last night, it was like, that's the most I've ever seen non-WWE stuff in a WWE arena.
Starting point is 01:04:03 It was Green Bay Packered out. There was a Colts fan right to my right I think his name was Braden uh that might have been the other guy but he said I'm the biggest Colts fan in Wisconsin I was like I think you're the only one in Green Bay that place loves their Packers man that was cool it was cool to experience last night and drive around and see it all AJ yeah I mean I think that's something people talk about you kind of have to go there to experience and i was lucky enough to be there for nine years so i saw you got to know a lot of people there yeah and a lot of the people that i knew that were going to training camp every day and watching everything they're still doing it they were doing it 25 years ago
Starting point is 01:04:36 and they will continue to do it uh and pass that tradition along i think to to the rest of their family so yeah it's a it's a very unique NFL city, I would say, and there's nothing else like it. Yeah, I like that generational thing because it did feel like college ball town. It felt like a college ball town with the way that they view the Green Bay Packers. It's beautiful. The draft's going to be there. I assume it's going to be fantastic.
Starting point is 01:04:58 I assume it's going to be awesome. In this tradition, you know, if you guys are riding bikes to training camp practices, I always thought, stupid. Okay, that is stupid. That's dumb. Why are we doing it? But then after you go through the town, it's like, oh, you're just rolling through the neighborhood almost. Like, you're just rolling through town with the members of Green Bay and the citizens of Green Bay.
Starting point is 01:05:16 Everything is much cooler now after what I experienced last night that the Green Bay Packers do. I just want to say that. I'll be on record as saying that. So you got to see it. Yeah, you saw it firsthand. I felt it. I feel like I got to feel it last night a little bit more because as I was getting there, training camp practice was wrapping up.
Starting point is 01:05:32 I'm seeing all the fans literally walk through the town and that center the the rest center I keep saying nish. The rest center right across the street. It's like a part of the entire block. It was cool, man. And it felt
Starting point is 01:05:48 like NFL was back. Yeah. It really did feel like... I assume that's all year there in Green Bay, though? Yeah, all year. Absolutely. All year long. I would love to see pro shop numbers from Green Bay compared to other places just because of the amount of people I think that go to Lambeau and come through there. Well, we do because their books are open. So we see... Now, you're
Starting point is 01:06:04 right. I don't know what comparison is to other places but like the real estate which I would assume is the merch because those are the shops that they own around it I don't know how they classify the shops that they own that they're selling shit in the museum in the hall of fame and then title town that they own in the hotel the green bay packers yeah it's genius smart they gotta figure it out. And everybody, I asked the crowd last night, is Jordan going to sign his contract? There was a little bit of sound.
Starting point is 01:06:30 Are you going to win a Super Bowl? Yeah, they go crazy. It's like, this Jordan Love thing is not a big deal at all to anybody, seemingly. Shouldn't be. I mean, the guy's out there in a monsoon watching practice. He doesn't need to be there. And he's out there doing it because he's a good teammate,
Starting point is 01:06:41 he's a good leader. So they just don't have enough time to be able to go through all the shit that they want to figure out you know like i don't gotta be the language gotta be the language and like whatever offset language they talk about and like whatever franchise tag it's got to be stuff like that i would imagine if they're if they claim like they're pretty close the numbers have to be somewhat in line who's lead counselor do we know is it good students doing russ ball is the one who does like all the contracts ed policy is stepping in though, though, for Mark Murphy, I know,
Starting point is 01:07:06 to take over as president. I don't know. But Russ Ball is usually the contract guy. And they're talking to David Mulageta. And the thing about Mulageta is he's going to find a dollar if it's somewhere. No matter what. Where they just try to sneak a dollar out of Jordan Lowe's pocket. Page 60, clause 4C.
Starting point is 01:07:26 Let me go to that. Yeah, we need that. Yeah, it's not like at the Green Bay Packers discretion. We're not. You can just take that last sentence right out of there if you want to. It's standard operating procedure for our contract. Well, that's good because our standard operating procedure is that that's not in there. It could be as little as that. Like that could be the entirety of it. And there's so many of those in these contracts because, you know,
Starting point is 01:07:48 force majeure has now come in and changed everything because COVID shut down the entire world. There's so many little clauses in all these contracts with these companies, because all these companies have either been screwed over before, or they've figured out a way to screw somebody else over and it's all everybody's trying to protect everybody so the amount of i don't want to say mumbo jumbo yeah but the amount of mumbo jumbo as somebody who's read through contracts uh and said nah we're gonna have to make those shorter we're gonna have to make that shorter we're gonna have to make that shorter and then you read through it and they literally put the same sentence four straight times in a paragraph.
Starting point is 01:08:25 Right, just flip a couple words around. And they're like, well, we just want to make sure this entire thing is good. I guess you could see how that could be where they – but they knew that was coming. Like, that's my big question. It's like, you knew that all was going to come. So did you just not worry about the beginning of training camp and it's not a big deal?
Starting point is 01:08:38 Is that how we should do it? Well, that's what's weird is because initially it was like, hey, they want to get something done before training camp, and then it kind of got pushed to, like, they want to get something done before training camp. And then it kind of got pushed like we want to get something done before the season. So I don't know if the idea that they were going to get something done before training camp kind of got out there into the public and the media and us and me like kind of just ran with it. It's like, OK, the expectation is he's going to get something done before training camp. When in reality, it was probably just like, hey, we're going to make sure this gets done before the start of the season it's a big deal it is a big deal but i think anytime like we heard kind of the language and like the body language that gutekens used
Starting point is 01:09:14 during the whole aaron rogers situation and it doesn't seem or feel the same with love now like i think they are in the same ballpark like they understand the number and then again you hear everything everyone said. Once the Trevor Lawrence deal got done and he got what he got, there was no way Mulegata is going to let Jordan Love get less money than Trevor Lawrence. He's just not going to. And I think the Packers probably understand that. And I think they also do believe kind of what Dan was saying.
Starting point is 01:09:41 I can't remember who he was saying it about contract-wise. But if they get this done now and he gets 56, and yeah, he'll have the highest average annual value of any player ever, but if he performs the way they think he's going to and the expectation of what we've seen in the past, in three years, this will be a bargain. It'll be like, hey. Yeah, but then he won't be practicing again,
Starting point is 01:10:01 which is something you can be who you can afford to be. Great problem to have. Yeah, absolutely. Be who you can afford to be. Great problem to have. Yeah, absolutely. Be who you can afford to be in this entire thing. And I'm happy to see Jordan Love is handling his business because he's been dropped into a situation that hasn't been fair to him since literally draft night. And he has handled it very well. He has grown. He has gotten better.
Starting point is 01:10:20 He's been a leader. And there's been no bullshits. There's been no anonymous sources saying Jordan Love's camp's not happy with the way this entire thing is going at all. So the way he's handled it is beautiful. That's why I hope they get the deal done. Now, you brought up Aaron Rodgers and Gutekunst in that situation. Let's go to Aaron Rodgers in the Jets right now.
Starting point is 01:10:36 Aaron Rodgers at training camp reporting. Good boy, Aaron. He was wearing an Egyptian cat shirt. I'm sorry, I thought it was a dog. That is an Egyptian cat, obviously. Is was wearing an Egyptian cat shirt. I'm sorry, I thought it was a dog. That is an Egyptian cat, obviously. Is that a sphinx? I think you have to buy that at the Pyramids.
Starting point is 01:10:51 I don't think you can buy that on the internet. I think that's only a shirt you can buy at the Pyramids. He's in flip-flops, sunglasses, big smile on his face. You said he's shredded just like he was last year going into camp. Obviously, the mindset is good. The Egyptian shirt is awesome just because of everything that happened, which leads to the other player that was considered unexcused whenever Robert Sala said that Aaron Rodgers, who was at 100% of the voluntary stuff,
Starting point is 01:11:17 has been with the team since last year, has been around, has took on ownership of the team. Robert Sala said Aaron's been here, but he's unexcused. And then to a guy that got traded to the Jets who'd never been in the Jets building, this is what he had to say before mandatory minute camp about Hasan Reddick. You know, Hasan's a pro. He's been in this league a while. He's produced at a very high level for a long time.
Starting point is 01:11:39 He's got his routine. If it makes people feel better, we know where he's at, we know what he's doing, and we know he's working his tail off to get where he needs to get to to have a productive 24 season. Do you expect to see him next week? I do. Okay, so he expected to see him. He did not, obviously.
Starting point is 01:11:57 Hasan Reddick has also not come to training camp. He is waiting for a new deal to be signed. Once again, he's not been on the Jets. But the way Salah talked about Hasan, he's been in the league a long time he's been good he has his routine when i was gonna be ready it's like aaron's been in the league longer uh has his own routine he's changed it it's gonna be a part of your voluntary uh minicamp stuff uh he loves your team has openly gone to bat for your team been in there more success we thought more success in his whole career like there is just there's so many things about the way coach Sala handled that and then you know you see Aaron
Starting point is 01:12:28 wearing that Egypt shirt it's like I know Aaron is going to want to win and have success that is literally what is driving him right now but I like that he came in with that shirt just being like hey where's that guy you said you knew exactly where he was that has never stepped foot in this building and Aaron wouldn't say that but that is a situation over there that is legitimately a situation we saw Hasan Reddick was in Japan I don't know if that's what Sala meant whenever he said we know where he is because this came out like a day after Robert Sala said that but it's like that situation as we have the sound on sweet I assume that sounds awesome awesome I assume that sounds much better than us talking but it's like situations just kind of that they've, I don't want to say shot themselves in the foot and created, but kind of.
Starting point is 01:13:09 Like Salah's kind of created this entire thing because of what he said publicly. Is that on the PR team that we assume is a great? Is that on Salah? Is it on the planning? Like what is it and does any of it matter? I guess that is kind of the question. I mean, you want Redick in camp. That's the thing.
Starting point is 01:13:24 When they traded for him, were they confident that they were going to get him in the building pretty quickly do they feel like hey we're going to work out a deal right away because we we obviously want him here we want him learning the defense we we know what he can do and how how productive he is when he's on the field so like when does this get done they absolutely should worry about this yeah i think so too and they definitely should have known because that's why he got traded from the eagles because he wanted a new deal. So if they didn't know, then they're just kind of stupid. But this is the Jets.
Starting point is 01:13:49 This is just like the M.O. of the Jets to a T. This is Jets football. This is Jets football, baby. Hey, let's make sure everything is great, and then let's just all put our foot in our mouths and let's just screw this thing up before the season even starts. It's what they do every single year. And that's why the Jets are the Jets.
Starting point is 01:14:05 And it's almost fun at this point, even though I personally would like to see Aaron have success because of how terrible last season ended for him and pushing himself to come back. That's another thing that we haven't even mentioned, that he actively did a completely different advanced rehab that is like next generation to try and fix your achilles faster than anybody but you know again for sala yeah i guess that isn't something that you really
Starting point is 01:14:30 think about when you're comparing aaron rogers you're the face of your franchise the the player that is basically going to save your ass because after last year clearly the ineptitude that you showed was one thing because they could have went out and gotten a Joe Flacco like the Browns did and kind of turned their whole entire season around and took the Browns to the playoffs they decided not to do that so they basically did hey don't worry next year Rodgers is going to be back and then before anything even starts it's hey let's piss this guy off and make sure he comes in here knowing that we're still behind him even though we're going to bury him publicly like this is the Jets this is what they do over and over and over again but again Rodgers is on the team so they he'll probably you know fill all those gaps that you know it seems as though Robert
Starting point is 01:15:15 Sala is poking in the boat yeah and winning sure is all you know and greatness is kind of a great uh band-aid especially in professional professional sports. We assume that Hackett knows that his ass is in a hot seat. Aaron knows he's in a hot seat. Sala seemingly knows he's in... I don't even know if he knows he's in New York.
Starting point is 01:15:38 Well, this isn't... Don't be comparing... You said Joe Sala? I wasn't saying that, but you could. I mean, I guess you could make that connection. I just, it is. It's like you can make that connection if you want to. I thought that's what you were saying.
Starting point is 01:15:53 He had all these accolades. Proof of life tomorrow. Yeah, proof of life tomorrow, 8 p.m. Can't wait. He had all these accolades when he was the 49ers DC. And right when he got to the Jets, it was like, we said it. It was like, okay, this is the, everything this guy did to get his head coaching job,
Starting point is 01:16:12 he doesn't do anymore. Like he used to be a psycho on the sidelines, just absolutely going ballistic on everyone, very high energy guy. And then he lost all of that when he was the head coach. And it's the same thing. It's like, you can't give the new york media any ammo because they're gonna make shit out of nothing regardless because that's
Starting point is 01:16:30 kind of what they do and they haven't had the jets haven't had success in such a long time but you also can't just continually put your foot in your mouth when you're leading this team and you already know like hey rogers is he he is the thing that's going to make this go like he's the straw that stirs the drink so what you know like it's just crazy because the whole situation was completely avoidable and here we are still talking about it and it's like not he if he doesn't know his ass is in the jackpot and like they need to win then i i really wouldn't be he has to know i wouldn't be that surprised if he did he's trying to fly like the eagle you see inside of the pro. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 01:17:09 Are we going to get video of this year's speech, you think? I don't think it's hard knocks. I don't think these are hard knocks. But hopefully, OneJets Drive will do a great job of that. They have a great social media team. They do have a great social media team over there. Great content. Excited to see how it goes. We are pumped
Starting point is 01:17:27 that Aaron is at camp. Just like Aaron was at 100% of the voluntary shit, which he's been in the league a long time. He's had a lot of success. Has his routine. Changed it completely. Obviously, that was a big conversation in Green Bay. Yep. In this entire thing. To go to the voluntary stuff. Now he's at the first day of training camp. Let's go
Starting point is 01:17:43 to work. Let's let our bygones be bygones. But here is a shirt I bought at the Pyramids. So, just so you know. Maziano, I'm sure he's pumped about the Egyptian cat shirt. Haven't heard him say anything about Hasan Reddick? Not yet. He may have today, but I don't know. I haven't heard any of that.
Starting point is 01:17:59 We'll keep an eye on Maziano. Joining us now from a different sport is an 11-year NBA vet. A man who's us now from a different sport is a 11 year NBA vet. A man is going to be a future coach in the NBA and a man that can maybe explain to us what the hell is going on with the American basketball team, both the men's and the women, the women are losing a bunch of players are too young, not good enough to be on team.
Starting point is 01:18:20 And the men are getting real close to losing. Everybody. Ladies and gentlemen, Austin Rivers. to be on the team. And the men are getting real close to losing to everybody. Ladies and gentlemen, Austin Rivers. Yeah, Austin! You look so cool, dude. Whoa, geez. Listen, any compliment from you I'm going to cherish because I usually
Starting point is 01:18:36 come far in between on this show sometimes. No! I do like the intros. The intros are getting better. Well, we don't know if you're going to give us the right answer or not. I kind of maybe misled the people there as I was introing you. What's going on? So we've heard from all the basketball people, Rich Paul, Shams,
Starting point is 01:18:56 I believe Wendy even said it, about this Olympic team and Team USA. He was like, it takes some time to figure out what the team's going to be. It takes some time for guys to figure out that they're 4, 5, 6, 7 on the roster when actually they're superstars. Is that how we should be viewing it? Are they going to be able to flip the switch whenever the Olympics start? Because we've seen that LeBron James has seemingly become the leader. He was on the ground yesterday. The entire bench was running over to pick him up.
Starting point is 01:19:16 Feels like camaraderie's there. But this game with Germany, very close. South Sudan, obviously very, very close. It's like, is this what we're in for? Or are they going to flip the switch and figure this out, you think, Austin? No, I think we're in for some competitive basketball. Jeez, we don't want that. Wow, we're all sketching up.
Starting point is 01:19:32 I know, and from a roster standpoint, nobody competes with USA, right? We know that. We could go down, you know, even yesterday's Germany team. If we go position for position, there's not a position on the floor where their guy's better than one of our guys. But these teams do have continuity. They've been playing with each other since they were however old. They grew up playing with each other. We're over here. We throw a bunch of stars on the team and try to get them to just go get the job done. And history's passed. We've been able to do that. Obviously, with European basketball making strides, I don't
Starting point is 01:20:03 want to say catch up. A lot of people say catch up. They haven't caught up because if that was the case, the NBA would be 80% European players. The reason why it's mostly American players is because we still dominate basketball as a whole. With that being said, they have definitely gotten just loads better to the point where now when we compete against these teams, this isn't just some sure thing anymore. We can't just go out there and just dominate. They have, you know, all these teams have NBA players as well. They're not superstars, but they're NBA players. And in one game, Pat, in one game, as you know, that's why March Madness is so special, right? In one game,
Starting point is 01:20:37 anybody can beat anybody. There's like a different type of like confidence. Patty Mills in the NBA is like a role player. I don't know if you've ever seen him play for his prospective team. He's out there and looks like goddamn Stephen Curry when he's playing for his country. We got Stephen Curry playing on our team. We got the actual Stephen Curry on our team. That's why it doesn't make sense. I thought this was going to be Harlem Globetrotters versus Washington Generals forever.
Starting point is 01:21:10 Okay, just forever. That's what I thought this was going to be in basketball terms because of what you said. But I guess, like, having an actual team is just so much more important than we make it out to be. I suppose. I mean, if our guys played like their guys, we'd win by, like, 40. What are their guys doing?
Starting point is 01:21:25 What are their guys doing? They're smacking the floor? Yeah, no, their team, all these teams are based on ball movement. Their whole game is predicated on ball movement. They know they can't out-talent us, right? No one's going to do that. They are able to, and there's FIBA rules. FIBA rules are a little bit different,
Starting point is 01:21:42 but their games are all predicated on ball movement. And these guys have been playing with each other, Pat, since they were like 12 years old, 13 years old. So they just have a natural chemistry about them that we cannot just come up with in a month's time. But what we can do is like we said, we have way more talent than these teams. So we have to rely on that and hope that we have guys that are able to at least buy in short term to where they can play a role. You have Devin Booker, Jason Tatum, and these guys are playing like roles. Like they got to be like a role player because they're playing with Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Devin Curry. Those are the actual best players on the team. So it's very weird for these guys to put them in these slots. And I love Ant's confidence, but Ant's like, you
Starting point is 01:22:23 know, they got to play around me. Well, it's like, I hear you, bro. Ant's like you know they got to play around me well it's like I hear you bro but like you know LeBron James the best part of the team so it's just like it's just it's it's it's just a little bit new for some of these guys and it takes time. Go ahead AJ. What can Steve Kerr do Austin for these guys like what is he telling these guys in practice and during games because it's true like it makes sense yeah they're gonna have a couple hiccups because all these guys are used to being the man like they all you know isolation ball they can go get a bucket whenever they want how do you coach these guys to actually like have your role and hey defer to LeBron at times and stuff like how does that come together man that's a great question uh that's I would say it's a multi multi-million dollar question right that's why they got Steve Kerr in that seat uh
Starting point is 01:23:04 it's like how do you get these guys to's why they got Steve Kerr in that seat. It's like, how do you get these guys to buy in a role that they have never been in their entire life in a matter of a couple weeks span? I would imagine film has to be very important. Because the one thing that's evident, it's like, we're beating South Sudan by one point. This type of stuff can't happen. So clearly what we got going on is not working. And for us to be successful, we need guys to unselfishly buy in. I think you use examples before us.
Starting point is 01:23:34 Kobe Bryant was a guy that came on the Redeem team and said, I don't have to shoot a shot to win a game. I'm going to come out here and just defend everybody. And him coming into camp, remember they had guys partying, and he was going to the gym at 5 a.m., how serious he was taking and how he led by example these are the things that like lebron james is gonna have to preach you can't just be steve kerr lebron james got to set the tone he is right he will be and he absolutely look at him right now look what he's doing he's dominating at 40 years old 39 years old 40 years old this guy's dominating the olympics
Starting point is 01:24:02 man it's just unbelievable we'll never see anything like this again in the sport of basketball. I really don't believe so. We're in the pre-Olympics and I'm loving it with what LeBron's doing, but if he does all this in the pre-Olympics and then in the actual Olympics, it doesn't go that way, boy, they're going to kill LeBron for this entire thing. And he's
Starting point is 01:24:19 the only one that's seemingly carrying the team. And you brought up Steve Kerr there, AJ, and what he needs to say. Ty has a question about that. Yeah, Austin, so going back to the carrying the team and you you brought up Steve Kerr there AJ and what he needs to say Ty has a question for that about that yeah Austin so going back to the redeemed team and like coach K and everything do you think team USA is better served to have an elite college coach be the head coach as opposed to a current NBA head coach who may have like preconceived notions about you know some of these players like does that messy things up at all like would it make more sense if they just got like a you know coach cal or someone like or coach k come back and uh and coach the team uh man that's a fair question i don't know if i have the yeah that's
Starting point is 01:24:56 a great question yeah yeah you know i mean that that's a great question just due to the fact that you know having coach k in there did put him in this gray area of space where there was no ties, there was nothing biased in that locker room. I don't think that's an issue with Steve Kerr, just because the one player he is tied to, I don't think anybody is second-guessing his spot on the team, and that's Stephen Curry. You know what I mean? So it's like, one thing if, say, it was a coach of Devin Booker or Tatum or Ant, you could say, well, wait, is this guy going to be in the middle ground?
Starting point is 01:25:24 How is he going to treat his player versus other players? You know, is it going to be weird here? Steve Kerr is one of those guys that I think, you know, is pretty well placed, obviously, in the sport of basketball as a coach. And because the guy that he's tied to is Steph, I don't think there's any bias issues on that. Yeah. He might be worried about what's going on in Washington, though.
Starting point is 01:25:44 He might have a, we know Steve's about what's going on in washington though you know he might have uh we know we know steve's got one eye going on policy one eye going on the court we know that we know that's the case and there's obviously a lot going on we need steve to know that our country and you pay attention steve you know we need you boys to win we need it now more than we need it we need it loudly we need it. Loudly. We need it to be loud, and I can't wait to watch. And I appreciate the fact that LeBron has taken it so serious. And you tell the story about Kobe,
Starting point is 01:26:12 it's like LeBron has seemingly been doing that. All the teammates are saying that, but for whatever reason, thus far, and we're still in pre-Olympic basketball right now, it hasn't really been able to mesh yet, but whenever the lights come on, whenever the Olympic lights come on, I think we'll be able to figure it out. It'll be really been able to mesh yet. But whenever the lights come on, right, whenever the Olympic lights come on, I think we'll be able to figure it out.
Starting point is 01:26:27 It'll be easier for guys to kind of buy in, you think, Austin? Yeah, and Kevin Durant hasn't played. That'll help. Speaking of, D-Bot's got a question for you. Yeah, another player, Kerr, obviously has some ties to him. They were asking about him the other day, and Drew Holliday was like, hey, that's KD. He's going to be in there.
Starting point is 01:26:43 But how difficult will that be for the guys you already talked about playing different roles and now kd who is a huge chess piece coming into the real olympic games when he gets healthy how difficult would that be as a player to kind of move around another big piece like that on the court well it'll definitely be difficult for kevin just from the aspect of it's tough not to have any pre-games and just jump into the olympics that's kind of that's asking a lot from him uh of it's tough not to have any pregames and just jump into the Olympics. That's asking a lot from him. If there's anybody that can do it, it's him. I feel like you could put Kevin on any team in the league, man, and the guy just goes out there and scores a basketball.
Starting point is 01:27:13 I don't know any players that are just as gifted as him on the offensive end that I've ever seen in my life. With that being said, their starting lineup, or the lineup, more importantly, that they're going to finish games with, I believe, will be Stephen Curry, Le, more importantly, that they're going to finish games with, I believe, will be Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis. And that fifth spot will
Starting point is 01:27:31 either be whoever's playing better at a Tatum, Book, or Ant. I really do believe that will be the finishing lineup of these games. How come Tyrese Halliburton's getting shoved down the bench? He seems like the only guy that'll be like, yeah, I'll do whatever you need me to do. You know, an actual point guard too.
Starting point is 01:27:47 Like, what are we – because defense? Yeah. Yeah, maybe a little bit. Just experience overall. I think they have him on the team just because he is one of the future point guards of the league, right? And just the type of kid he is. And I think it's because of what you just said, Pat. He has no problem whether he plays 40 minutes or zero minutes.
Starting point is 01:28:04 He's going to come to the game with the right attitude. And I think that's why they put him on the team and not a Derek White. They put him and Derek White on the team and not like a Jalen Brown or something like that. There's a reason why they kind of asked Kawhi Leonard to step away. Sometimes too much is too much. They have too much on the floor, too many guys that need the ball. USA has always had a history of those random guys guys a michael red a tayshaun prince a igedala carlos boozer uh you need some of these guys who have zero ego who can play or
Starting point is 01:28:32 not play it has to be a team it can't just be a bunch of monsters on a team otherwise it's not going to gel right and we're going to end up losing to to uh brazil or or you know south sudan france or whoever yeah speaking of those teams, Connor has a question for you. Yeah, Austin, why are we playing the same teams that we're going to play in the Olympics before they start? Is that better for them? Like for South Sudan, do they now think that they can beat Team USA and that is better for their mindset?
Starting point is 01:28:58 Or are we just doing this because we want to kind of give them that little, like, hey, maybe you can beat us, and then beat the shit out of them when the Olympics start? I do think if we play South Sudan again, we will win by more than 40 points. I'm not even kidding. I think, and I say that just because that game for them, I think
Starting point is 01:29:16 was a wake-up call in a lot of different ways, and I think that will be a game that if we do play them again, they're going to try to get it back in blood. On the other side, South Sudan's walking in there with tons of confidence, and I'm talking about versus anybody, especially other teams. If they just lost to USA by one, they think,
Starting point is 01:29:32 man, we can compete and beat anybody. They're going in there with a ton of confidence. Shout out to them. That was a hell of a game, and those guys played their heart out, but I do think USA's going to turn it on. Pat talked about that a little bit earlier. When them lights come on, it's a little bit different. It's just a little bit different.
Starting point is 01:29:48 I think us fully healthy with Kevin Durant back, we're going to have some games where we're up by 30 or 40. That's just going to happen. Especially this big three right here. I mean, this is certainly how it's going to... Yes, that's Tyrese Halliburton. Okay, Austin?
Starting point is 01:30:04 Steve Kerr doesn't know, but that's... Team USA? Who put that graphic up? Did you guys put that graphic up? Team USA. Tim Halliburton, get in the game. Is that what they're saying? I think the actual Olympics put this one up.
Starting point is 01:30:14 You're right. It was the IOC. Yeah. It was the Olympic graphic designers from Russia. Yeah, okay. That put this one in. Steve Kerr helped me. Do you remember when they did that in the Olympics?
Starting point is 01:30:23 Well, the Russians were cheating, so we can't have Russia anymore. But, good news. You guys can still compete. Call you. We say, oh. You say, ah. Then we'll put R on there at the end. They were just Olympic athletes from Russia. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:30:39 How is that even? What a fugace. The colors were just gray, right? I cannot wait to hear the drama that's coming out of these Olympics. I completely forgot about that. There's going to be somebody that's cheating some way, somehow. There's going to be age stuff that takes place obviously. In some of those sports they're lying about how
Starting point is 01:30:55 they're saying gymnastics. Who was it? China had like 11-year-olds? Yeah, like legitimately 12 years during the Beijing Olympics. Allegedly they had like 11 and 12-year-olds out there and I'm like, we better beat the shit out of these little kids. They're like, no years during the Beijing Olympics. Allegedly, they're like 11 and 12-year-olds out there. And I'm like, well, we better beat the shit out of these little kids. And they're like, no, actually, the kids. I could do 100 flips.
Starting point is 01:31:09 They can move. That's actually cheating. I'm like, oh, what? Oh, word? Yes. I think that happened. I didn't know that until the drama. You did it up.
Starting point is 01:31:18 The international drama that's about to come from the Olympics is very real, especially at this time of the world. Like baseball, kind of. I mean, it's going to. Some of the world. Like baseball, kind of. Did you hear the housing doesn't have air conditioning? Well, that's because in France, they want it to be hot so they can sweat so they can showcase how bad they smell.
Starting point is 01:31:35 They want everybody sweating. Also, there's cardboard beds. I don't know how LeBron sleeps on those things. I would imagine. If you think the USA basketball team is going to be in the village, you're out of your damn mind. those cardboard beds. I don't know how LeBron sleeps on those things. I would imagine. Listen, buddy, buddy, buddy. If you think the USA basketball team is going to be in the village, you're out of your damn mind. I remember there in Brazil,
Starting point is 01:31:51 they had all the athletes in the favelas. I don't even know where they were at. They were staying in goddamn shag. I don't even know what it looked like. But you had, the USA team was on a yacht cruise ship like a mile out in the water. It was some nutty, it was almost too much.
Starting point is 01:32:07 I was like, this is just not right. LeBron's getting a yacht in the scent. Yeah, bingo. In the poop river. Right next to the court. They're going to be swimming around Team USA's yacht that they are sleeping in. Ah, that's amazing to think about.
Starting point is 01:32:20 Let's do a little NBA talk real quick. Yesterday, news broke by Sham Sharani on this show, even though we weren't given credit by the network in which our show is on. Spencer Dinwiddie signs with the Dallas Mavericks, and I guess he was potentially L.A., obviously. This is Clay Thompson,
Starting point is 01:32:37 obviously L.A., made a bigger offer. He chose Dallas. Spencer Dinwiddie allegedly goes back to Dallas, chooses Dallas. Seems like the conversation is people aren't choosing the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason. But you look at this Team USA, everybody's looking at LeBron James to be the leader. So it almost is like the narrative becomes, well, these guys don't want to play with LeBron James. These guys don't think that the Lakers can win. But then you watch Team USA, everybody seemingly wants to play with LeBron James.
Starting point is 01:33:02 And LeBron James is going to be the one that's going to lead them to win. So what is the entirety of that, and why do you think that is the case, and how big is the Dinwiddie signing for Dallas and what they could potentially do next year? I like Dinwiddie. I think he's a solid player. I don't think it's— He's Louise! Austin!
Starting point is 01:33:22 Well, no, I like Dinwiddie. If you're asking me me do I think that bro listen come on man he he played Dinwiddie played like 10-15 minutes a game for for the Lakers last year in the playoffs you know what I mean you guys are acting like they signed Jalen Brunson or something like that you know what I'm saying no I think I think I think Spencer Dinwiddie is a really good pro and also by the way he's been in the league for a long time so like we're not getting primed Dinwiddie you know I mean like he's also, by the way, he's been in the league for a long time. So, like, we're not getting prime Dinwiddie. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:33:46 Like, he's like, what, 32, you know, 33. So, right now we're getting, you know, a decent, solid Dinwiddie, a guy that gives, you know, Dallas another guard who can handle off the bench. But they already got two ball-dominant guards. So, I don't know how much that'll help or not. They have Jalen Hardy. They have all types of stuff going on over there. So, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:34:02 If the Lakers wanted him, they would have signed him. You know what I mean? No, allegedly that's not the case with the Lakers this offseason. I don't know about Spencer directly, but everybody else, like the Lakers, want and nobody... That was kind of the overall narrative, is that nobody wanted to go. I still think the Lakers are in position to compete, bro.
Starting point is 01:34:18 Look at the USA team with all these superstars on the team. Who have been the two best players on this team? LeBron James, Halliburton. Oh. Steph Curry. Tatum's been playing his role so well.
Starting point is 01:34:32 A.D. and Brian. Thank you. Thank you. I was waiting for someone to say it correctly. LeBron James and Anthony Davis have been the two best players on this team consistently so far, right? So if you ask yourself, these two guys are the same team in the NBA. And they're the two best players.
Starting point is 01:34:50 And I don't want to say AD is the best player, but he's been playing the best. He's been dominant in USA basketball. He's been out playing and beat every game. So when you put that in perspective, why are the Lakers so far away from competing in the championship? I don't think so. Why are players saying that? Why did Klay Thompson – Klay took less money, allegedly.
Starting point is 01:35:06 That's very... Yeah, I don't know what that is. Maybe, well, the taxes in Dallas versus Cal... They probably evened out that money anyway. But, yeah, that's... I mean, if you look from a standpoint
Starting point is 01:35:16 of Dallas just went to the finals, the Lakers are a team that aren't in the mix. Don't bring politics into our show, okay? Don't bring taxes into our show. Come on. Okay? We don't need that, especially this time.
Starting point is 01:35:27 Remember, we just need the United States to win. That's what we're looking for here. Okay? We don't need you bringing it all in. And then Spencer Dinwiddie, I don't know if he's going to see your reaction to that question. Sure. Boy. A disrespect.
Starting point is 01:35:37 Why did I disrespect? No, you guys asked how much did it move the needle for the Lakers. I was like, bro, he didn't play a lot, a lot for the Lakers because they have D'Lo and Reeves that they play over him. They obviously didn't want to resign him or offer him anything that was going to move the needle with him, so Dallas took him up. Does it help Dallas' depth with guards?
Starting point is 01:35:54 Absolutely, but they got a lot of ball-dominant guys there right now. They got Kyrie Irving and Luka. Don't do that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. If it repeats... Spencer's my boy. Don't do that. Me and Spencer are friends. We'll see boy. Don't do that. Me and Spencer are friends. We'll see if he still feels that way. Too late, brother.
Starting point is 01:36:08 That might be a one-way street there. I don't know about that. Last thing before we let you go, because the Olympics are happening. We look at a lot of the sports at the Olympics as meathead football players and say, oh, if we played that sport, if America played that sport, we would win it.
Starting point is 01:36:29 America's going to get introduced to handball again for the first time in four years. Handball is a sport that should be loved in the United States of America. High action, strategy, athleticism, throwing, catching, goals. I mean, it is, it's an awesome sport. And as soon as we watch it every Olympics, our our natural reaction is to go that's our sport if we were to play that sport we would win that sport with all nfl guys do you nba people look at any sports like that is there any conversations about like you got olympic sports are obviously different than like team sports that we have here in the united states america yeah i think you guys would be great speed walkers, don't you think? Oh, yeah. How long your guys' legs are?
Starting point is 01:37:06 Yeah, that's a good call. Speed walking would probably have to be the one. Because the sprinting and stuff like that, man, we have guys that are fast, but not that damn fast. That's a whole different level of what those guys can run. You guys are kind of slow, right? Isn't that kind of your thing? You guys are slow?
Starting point is 01:37:20 Yeah. Listen, if you compare our fastest athletes in our sport to a football, we wouldn't even compare. You know what I mean? In that regard. You know, we don't have guys that are as fast as. High jump. We don't have a 30.
Starting point is 01:37:30 You probably have, like, 30 guys that could probably, right, keep up with our 30 guys, you know? Maybe one. I see what you did there. Look at you. Look at you. You can't even help yourself. This was all to get to this point. No, man.
Starting point is 01:37:44 This was all of it. Everything I did to Campbell. I know what you've been doing. I know what you've been doing. I know. I see it, man. This is so funny. All right.
Starting point is 01:37:52 We appreciate you joining us, man. The Olympics start on Friday. Hopefully, team. How about the women? Should we be worried about the WNBA All-Stars? No, no, no. It's going to be a slaughter, man. I don't know if you've ever watched their Olympics.
Starting point is 01:38:03 They win games by like. It actually gets nasty out there sometimes. There's games where we're up be a slaughter, man. I don't know if you've ever watched the Olympics. They win games by like – it actually gets nasty out there sometimes. There's games where we're up like 100 points, man, and it gets really like – it feels hard. It's hard to watch. It's hard to watch. We need that. Easy.
Starting point is 01:38:14 But I'm happy that Kaitlin and Angel couldn't get on that team. Oh, they're not good. Yeah, you know. Or Shorty to put up 30. Arike. Yeah. Arike, bro. They didn't even – Arike? Arike? Arike? Arike. Yeah. Arike, bro. They didn't even.
Starting point is 01:38:25 Arike. Yeah. Arike. Arike. I think I had a record. Agubo Wale. Yeah, there it is. 34 points in the second half against Team USA.
Starting point is 01:38:34 That's what our Team USA is going into the Olympics with. Arike dropping 34 on. And then, obviously, a double-double by Angel Reese. And then the first-ever rookie with 10 assists against that team. None of them good enough to be on Team USA. Very public. No, but they're not going to run into that overseas, man. They're going to be playing against a girl that has another job.
Starting point is 01:38:52 All right. Jeez. Ladies and gentlemen, the ever-clever... You guys make me look like an asshole. You guys are good. The ever clever Austin Rivers.
Starting point is 01:39:09 What a prick. Hey, you did good, dude. This is good. People are going to look back on this and say... I have to call my PR after this. Every time I get on your show, I have to call Smart. Call Dinwiddie. You need to send Dinwiddie a text. Call him first.
Starting point is 01:39:27 You need to. Dear God. Not our fault. Just being funny. I'm just being funny, guys. For the people watching. Dear God, it's the entertainment. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:39:36 All right. Matter of fact, from Austin Rivers. Thank you, buddy. Every time I come on your show, I got my people telling me, you need to knock on that shelf. You get a little bit too loose, don't you think?
Starting point is 01:39:49 You know, you're not bad runner. They give you topic, 26 seconds, here's some video, and then you wait your turn. And then we pass the ball, and then guess what? Topic, 26 seconds this time. Might be running up on a hard out here. Need you to get these points in. And then guess what? You're sitting right back in your chair
Starting point is 01:40:05 and somebody else is coming in and taking a hack. Let's just keep it moving. Once Austin starts wheeling and dealing, that's when he goes off the teleprompter. When he's off the teleprompter, that's whenever we really start getting going. I love Austin Rivers on our show. He's the man. Spencer Dinwiddie
Starting point is 01:40:22 has certainly sent it. He scoffed right when you said his name. name Boy he's okay Pause for five seconds Disrespected by the question Listen Spencer's my guy But what are we even talking about here This isn't even a question
Starting point is 01:40:39 I bet you now Austin could have used that though This would be like them signing me You know in this entire thing, if it was, you know, like 12 years has been around a long time. Would have been a great comparison. Would have been a great self-wit. But instead, he had his sunglasses on. He couldn't see through it.
Starting point is 01:40:54 He couldn't get to that. Nope. You know, he just, maybe one day. Austin's people, we love them. And that's why we love them. That's why we love them. That is why we love them. Speaking of people we love them. That is why we love them. Speaking of people we love, Kirk Herbst,
Starting point is 01:41:07 who made a video yesterday for the college football playoff, breaking down the 12-team playoff that we're about to have, I don't think there's been a big enough to-do made about this. Because the playoffs and college football playoff, it's been two games, three games with semis and then the finals, obviously. It's huge. The numbers are ridiculous. The hype is absurd.
Starting point is 01:41:31 Now we got home field advantage happening in the first round for these games. So, obviously, there's going to be a lot of incredible environments and aura and everything like that. But the pressure, the ratings, the importance, like college football, the 12-team playam is about to be awesome. We already know it's moving I think to 14 or 16, whatever it's going to be. They're going to continue to grow it. This year going into college football, the ending is about to be more electrifying and exciting than it's ever been. I'm
Starting point is 01:41:55 zeked up about it, AJ. That's literally what that video yesterday from Herbstreet reminded me. As I was watching it, obviously Herbstreet's voice is just like butter. He's got those blue eyes. He had perfectly lit. He had that sport coat. He looks like he's been getting after it.
Starting point is 01:42:10 He's fit. This is a fit Herbstreet coming in. And this entire thing runs a minute 30 or whatever. So as you get past hearing Herbstreet chit-chat again in a great suit, I think it's tailored perfectly to his new body. He's got this new thin body. So he's been really getting after it. But as they start laying it out, it's like, yeah, this is going to be awesome.
Starting point is 01:42:30 And we're going to have an actual tournament to decide who's the best team, which I think we've all kind of been waiting for, AJ. Yeah, I mean, what people love, single elimination, hey, win or go home. Winner moves on, loser, see ya, your dreams are dashed. So that's what gets all the eyeballs. That's what gets people most excited, I think, to watch any sport, especially football. So, yeah.
Starting point is 01:42:50 I mean, there's 12 teams. Now I can see them going to 40 teams. Why not? Just make the whole season a tournament. Well, and that's the thing. And D-Butt talked about this with his NCAA 2K College Football 25 game. Yep. And when he made his first run or whatever, he was like,
Starting point is 01:43:02 this is a lot of games. Missed that bye week by one game and it was like, whew, we got to win four to win a natty. Now, just like you guys said, as fans, as consumers of the game, it's great. We love to watch it. I'm sure everybody that's making money loves it as well. The players, especially the players that are going to be
Starting point is 01:43:18 drafted high, it's another opportunity to break something, to get a bad injury. Obviously, you want to win and go off with a championship for your team and your school and all that shit. It's another opportunity to break something, to get a bad injury, to go. Obviously, you want to, you know, win and go off on, you know, with a championship for your team and your school and all that shit. It's all great. But when you have that career, we've seen guys opt out of bowl games. I assume not many guys will opt out of playoff games.
Starting point is 01:43:36 But these are huge, huge games. So these agents, I'm sure, will be sitting on eggshells as well. But for the consumer, for us, it's going to be great. I think there's going to be a lot of chatter about the teams that aren't in. You know, no matter what the number is, the bubble is always going to be loud. I mean, that is, it's going to be great. I think there's going to be a lot of chatter about the teams that aren't in. You know, no matter what the number is, the bubble is always going to be loud. I mean, that is how it's going to go. But this year, I feel like it's the most fair earn it on the field. You're the national champion as opposed to conjecture and voting and ratings
Starting point is 01:43:55 and everything like that. Pivoting away from college football, A.J., my baloney has a first name. It's... I'm going to let you finish this one. Oh, I see where you are. Wienermobile has crashed. Breaking news. What? No. Wienermobile is on its side, I do believe,
Starting point is 01:44:13 in Chicago on the side of the road. Obviously, Chicago traffic is what it is to begin with, but when you've got that big of a wiener rolled over on the side, this is going to be problems for the entire state of Illinois. We don't know what this dong is doing on its side. We have no idea how the wiener driver got this twisted and this flipped over, but everybody needs to say a prayer for their
Starting point is 01:44:36 favorite dong, their favorite wiener, their favorite baloney, Oscar, who is currently battling from the side of the penis as opposed to normally on all four wheels yeah i mean now people david ferdy where you at you know want to watch me tug my big wiener you know i mean like that's what's coming next they're going to need to get this thing get it off the highway right away because this is an issue it is i mean this is you're looking at traffic in chicago being backed up for two three hours with this thing tipped over the rubber necking for a wiener on the side. Oh, God.
Starting point is 01:45:06 I think I just saw the fucking Oscar Mayer. Yeah. Did you? Bar caused more accidents on the other side. Think about commercial airlines right now. Oh, God. Highways in Chicago got wieners on the side. What's wrong with this great country?
Starting point is 01:45:18 We just got to get to 2025. We have to. Yeah. No, we got to get to football. We got to get to football. We got to get to football. 44 days, baby. 44 days. Okay, that's all we need to get football. We got to get football. 44 days, baby. 44 days.
Starting point is 01:45:25 Okay, that's all we need to get to. Let's remember that. So as the Wieners are tossing and turning, and the world is seemingly upside down, let's remember we are 44 days away from, and there is a tug of the Wienermobile right there. You got to come in from the top. No stranger danger here.
Starting point is 01:45:41 Yep. That's good. That's good for society. Needed some balls on the back on both sides to balance it out probably. Yeah, they should potentially think about putting some. Meatballs. Some training wheels is what I was thinking, you know, because it's going to be on either side.
Starting point is 01:45:56 As safe as meatballs. Yeah, but maybe meatball wheels. Yeah. Yeah. Because they're bigger. Do love meatballs and hot dogs. They go together like, you together like baseball and apple pie. Amen.
Starting point is 01:46:06 TV and jet. Joining us now is not from Oscar Mayer. Obviously, we will be reaching out to see if they have a statement on their overturned Johnson in Chicago. Joining us is a man who's won an Emmy as a reporter for ESPN. Oh, wow. Down there in South Florida, ladies and gentlemen, the ever-handsome Jeff Darlington. Yeah! See what happened to the dong, bro? It's on the side.
Starting point is 01:46:28 That's what happens when your wiener leans left. It never stays left. Oh, I got it. How's it hanging? It's not hanging at all. It's actually hanging left. Yeah, that's awesome. Alright, Jeff.
Starting point is 01:46:42 We appreciate you joining us here on this glorious Football Tuesday. 23 teams are reporting to training camp. Obviously, way over half the NFL is already working on earning their next Lombardi. But down there in Miami, there is a lot of chatter. And a lot of it revolves around the quarterback. And also the wide receiver, which I think you can kind of touch on if you want in your answer. But the Tua contract, how big of a deal is that? Is that going to get loud?
Starting point is 01:47:04 Is that going to get loud is that going to get completed and how do they go about getting this done and is trevor lawrence's deal the big one that everybody he and jordan love and everybody's kind of waiting and sitting on here as they try to negotiate the biggest number possible yeah i mean first of all going back about a month ago um the negotiations really hadn't gotten to a point where it felt like it was even close to it, didn't perceive the options on the table, the contract on the table to be market value, that of the Jared Goff and Trevor Lawrence deals in the mid 50s annual per year. Now, since then, I've been told that things are amicable, that they have been inching closer. That being said, he's reported whether he practices tomorrow
Starting point is 01:47:46 will be a pretty big indicator. And I would actually point to that Jordan Love situation. To me, that feels completely amicable. It actually feels like him staying off the field, it means that it's even closer because they see a light at the end of the tunnel. I could really at this point see if Tua is on the practice field tomorrow, they can continue to negotiate, but I could see him playing this thing out because where they were before was very clear divide. This was a team that said, we're just not ready to commit that
Starting point is 01:48:15 type of money. And a quarterback who very firmly said to himself, the market is the market. And he doesn't feel like he should take anything less. Now, why is that? Is that because McDaniel's offense can create people to be open, Tyreek Hill waddle could get open or why do you think they're viewing him that way verse maybe i think if you look at this just from a prudent business standpoint and and i understand it it's a little bit difficult when it is your franchise quarterback and he's done everything he's the face of the team he's he does it all the right way but if you look at it if you sign him now compared to what you would sign him for after this season, even if he goes off, like I've talked to enough GMs around the league who
Starting point is 01:48:50 were kind of like, ah, we wouldn't pay him mid fifties. Like we're not going to go there. So if the demand is such that after this season, he plays really well and everybody looks at it and says, well, yeah, he's got Tyreek. He's got Waddle nothing against him he's got Mike McDaniel he can do those things in this system and that's the best place for him I don't think that a team is going to step up after this season and all of a sudden say yeah we're going to give him 60 million dollars a year negotiations are always so interesting and we wish
Starting point is 01:49:19 we would have negotiated more time on ESPN every single day, but this linear broadcast will end and will continue on ESPN Plus, YouTube, and TikTok Live. We will see you tomorrow for a wonderful Wednesday with more bullshit in store. Be a friend, tell a friend something nice that might change their life.
Starting point is 01:49:36 We'll see you tomorrow. Nailed it, Darlington. Right on the, I mean, right on the fucking, right on the, it's Shohei Ohtani right there. Shohei, I don't know. Go ahead.
Starting point is 01:49:46 Are we talking the rap? Did we get out at the right time? Darlington. Yeah, the rap. I don't know. Is that what you guys learned in J school? I don't have a... I don't have an earpiece.
Starting point is 01:49:56 That's what I'm saying. You didn't even eat them. You know what I mean? You didn't even know what was happening right in front of your face, right? You had no idea. My internal clock. Didn't even know what was happening.
Starting point is 01:50:04 Bingo. You didn't even see what was taking place. What's up face, right? You had no idea. My internal clock. Didn't even know what was happening. Bingo. You didn't even see what was taking place. What's up, AJ? Jeff, why couldn't you get Scotty Sheffer out of that arrest? You were right there on scene. I would have jumped on that. I would have been back for you, AJ. I would have jumped on his back, too.
Starting point is 01:50:16 Hey, for real, Jeff, did you think about it? Like, hey, if I get arrested here, this is good for my, this is good pub for me. I don't know if we talked about this but i have uh there's a lot of friends in my life who believe that i left some meat on the bone in terms of the attention i got i could have just gotten arrested got tased and got maybe yeah but you should release the video immediately i think you you like sat on that video for a little bit right didn't you well like i i think dude i was standing it wasn't over yet. As that video happened, I stopped recording, but I had gone around to the side
Starting point is 01:50:48 and was talking to Scotty in the back of the patrol car and was trying to figure out what was going on. And then the cops kept trying to, the police officers kept trying to move me to the other side of the street. So it wasn't over yet. Once the patrol car finally left, that's when I think I finally you fucked them you fucked
Starting point is 01:51:05 sheffler just just say you should have helped him do you think so well i mean it feels like it i mean if you could have broadcasted like if you should it could have got a couple more pictures like of that guy's 80 pants just getting ruined yeah right bruises all over his uh the knees and arms it's right here road rash it's right here uh yeah i appreciate the fact you're a football guy and this was massive golf uh golf guy now political it was political it was golf political judicial i mean there was everything it was everything and everybody was resorting right back to was je Jeff Darlington at the scene of the crime? And then you watched the video,
Starting point is 01:51:45 it's like, yeah, he was actually, did he pop out of the cop car? He was actually in the middle, you're in the middle of all of it, Jeff, legitimately. It was raining out, very dramatic. Couldn't see. I looked like shit, I looked awful. No, I don't think that's possible, Jeff.
Starting point is 01:52:00 I honestly, I don't think that is even possible. Speaking of, Ty, I have a question for you. Yeah, Jeff, just curious why no one is talking about the whole Wilkins situation because that seems like a pretty big deal, although Tua's is as well. And also, have the Dolphins approached you about potentially kicking this year because you look fucking exactly like Cristiano Ronaldo. I don't know if you're aware of that or not. Yeah, there is.
Starting point is 01:52:22 No, I don't, but I appreciate that. that or yeah there is no i don't but i i uh i appreciate that is that i i you know i get scott disick a lot that's the that's the guy i get the lord that i sound look and talk like scott disick which at one point used to feel like an insult but the more i've gotten to know him the more i like that guy yeah i think it was always a compliment cristiano ronaldo a lot more like you're looking like christian the body i don't know because christian he's got like two percent body fat he is in phenomenal shape properly he's going to prince of dubai i think bro so i don't think you have the same social media presence as christian but if we're just looking at you in this interview
Starting point is 01:53:02 i see cristiano ronaldo i see cristiano riano Ronaldo in there. So do I. I see Cristiano Ronaldo in there. That's good. That's a compliment. He's a super hitter. That's great. I appreciate that. What about Wilkins, though? This is a big deal.
Starting point is 01:53:12 What about him? What do you want to know? He's gone. How come it's not talked about more? Is that going to be a massive hit to the Miami Dolphins defense or no? I mean, I think that the numbers with those defensive tackles have just gotten to the point where teams, unless it was Chris Jones,
Starting point is 01:53:25 were not going to go there. And that's what ultimately they saw. Now they've, they also, if you look at the pass rush of the Dolphins right now, given all the guys that are hurt, you know, between Phillips and Chubb, those guys are starting camp on PUP. Shaq Barrett ends up retiring after he was added to one-year deal. Now they got Chop Robinson. They got three pass rushers in the draft.
Starting point is 01:53:44 Maybe that helps things out but to your point i mean the defense was kind of uh i think you know especially what they got anthony weaver coming a defensive coordinator i think that they are a major component to a team that needs to be better in the months of december and january if they're gonna make a run wilkins just felt like the you know draw that kind of stirred the drink for the Miami Dolphins as a whole. Not even just... Total trash talker. One of the best trash talkers in the NFL. For sure was like
Starting point is 01:54:11 the emotional leader of that defense. I completely agree. Him and Crosby being on the same team for that Raiders needs to get talked about more. And we'll see what happens down there in Miami because you're going to score a lot of points. Will you be able to keep up on the other side? I guess is what everybody's talking about. Darius Butler is a massive Miami Dolphins fan.
Starting point is 01:54:29 One of the five-team, six-team, eight-team. They're the top, though. They're the top. Is that right? And the longest. Yeah, of course. Been a fan for 38 years. But speaking of my team, one of my team, Dolphins, still fans up,
Starting point is 01:54:40 but forever be fans up. But Tyreek Hill, heard him talking a little bit. He's been kind of talking all offseason about wanting a new deal, kind of telling Drew, hey, I want a new deal. Heard him, I think, today saying, hey, want a new deal, but don't want to be traded. What's more likely, him getting a new deal either this year or next year, or this being the last season for Tyreek in Miami?
Starting point is 01:55:01 I think he'll get the new deal, especially as long as Mike McDaniel's there. And I don't know. I think he'll get the new deal, especially as long as Mike McDaniel's there. And I don't know. I think they could have, they maybe looked at it right now and said, we got to get this to a deal done first, but he's kind of done it the right way too. And this sort of really positive approach to it, not being sort of angry about it,
Starting point is 01:55:19 being very clear that he's going to be there to play. But I mean, I think he's sending some warning shots across the bow though, saying like, if you don't pay me now, cool. But after this season, it's going to be there to play. But, I mean, I think he's sending some warning shots across the bow, though, saying, like, if you don't pay me now, cool. But after this season, it's going to be a problem. And I do think that they will wind up paying him after this season. I hope so. Tyree can come to Indianapolis, buy for the Colts.
Starting point is 01:55:36 New England, I heard he wants to come to New England. He's good. He's ridiculous. Say he didn't want to be traded. Tell his agent, please don't trade me. He won't be traded. He needs to get traded out of there. He's running around with his meat all over the place. He's got 15 kids now.
Starting point is 01:55:50 He's having a good time. I don't know if it's 15 kids, but he certainly is celebrating his life on a regular basis, which we are congratulating him for, obviously. But that is a part of the conversation around it all. Let's talk about somebody else that's a quarterback that you know rather well. Tom Brady-Rost, were you there? No. Okay.
Starting point is 01:56:09 You weren't even in the crowd. Come on, Jeff. You weren't even in the crowd? No, I wasn't in the crowd. No. You watched it and you thought to yourself. I watched it. Yeah, it was pretty good.
Starting point is 01:56:20 What was your favorite joke? At times, very uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable. You got any favorite jokes you recall from there? You got any favorite ones you could, you know? What was your favorite joke? At times, very uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable. You got any favorite jokes you recall from there? You got any favorite ones you could, you know? I think Gronk. Gronk one was pretty good, you know?
Starting point is 01:56:32 He was good. Me know. Me know that not real money. Oh, Nicky Glazer. Nicky Glazer. That was the best one. About Bitcoin. Yeah, I wasn't there.
Starting point is 01:56:40 How come you weren't there, Pat? I feel like you're a... No, I don't know Tom. I'm not a big... I don't think any of those people. Yeah, that was kind of the big takeaway was nobody knows Tom. Even the guys that wrote this. That was a lot of jokes.
Starting point is 01:56:53 I'm not associated with that. You have been associated with Tom Brady, though, so I just assumed that you would have been in the ballpark. No, I didn't get that invite. I'm okay with that. I don't know if there will ever be another one because of that one. No, that was a bad idea. That was a terrible idea.
Starting point is 01:57:09 Do you think there was a point in that when Tom realized what a bad idea it was? Yeah, immediately. About three minutes in. Right away. He went up to the Robert Kraft one and he was like, hey, we're not doing that shit. Cut that shit out. Tom sat down and then it might have hit him then. He's like, oh, no.
Starting point is 01:57:23 There's three hours left. And then after. Although, the ardent defense of Robert Kraft felt a little weird. sat down and then it might have hit him then he's like oh no there's three hours left after although the ardent defense of robert craft felt a little weird when we were also on the other side of it talking about you know jujitsu instructors and whatnot and then really going hard for that defense of robert craft like him not knowing that like his marriage was going to get brought up because he said that after robert craft well hold Well, hold on. It came out, though. The family wasn't happy, obviously. Yeah, his kids were, like, super upset.
Starting point is 01:57:49 Kids were mad. And then I – is that jujitsu thing true? Yes. I believe it was judo instructor, not jujitsu. All right. Excuse me. Let's – No, jujitsu –
Starting point is 01:57:58 It's not jujitsu. I'm serious. I'm serious. It's 100% jujitsu. It's off of seven. Let's get it. We don't know if it's real, though. I think she has come out and said that's not real.
Starting point is 01:58:09 I think the timing. She might talk about the timing. Well, something about Tom Brady-Rose. She came out and was like, that's not true or whatever. Yeah, the timing. AJ's right. AJ's got that figured out. So you tell us, Jeff.
Starting point is 01:58:21 What do you mean? You are plugged in. Just so we can get it. Well, I don't. it's about the merge there's no whether the relationships merge all right yeah so there's an overlapping transition period that was kind of not talked about okay got it all right well i'm a golf guy now though i don't really wade in those waters how is golf how many of those have you covered? How many golf tournaments? Two.
Starting point is 01:58:46 This is my first year. I did the Masters and the PGA Championship. It was awesome. I love it. Are you good at golf? Great. Am I good at golf? I'm a golf enthusiast.
Starting point is 01:58:57 About an eight, eight and a half. Damn. You're very good at golf. You're very good at golf. Yeah, I'm a golf enthusiast. I saw AJ up at Muirfield a couple weeks ago there, up in his neck of the woods. Was he playing in the tournament?
Starting point is 01:59:10 I went and visited Jeff and the boys. Jeff was in town playing with Brady and rented a villa, had a whole steak dinner being made when me and my wife showed up just to say hi. It was an impressive situation. Jeez, did AJ just get done shooting scratch on that golf course? You didn't play there. Do you ever play there, AJ? I mean, everybody was awful. A years ago with brady brady plays there decently
Starting point is 01:59:28 well i think brady that's his home course i think brady shot like 107 that day oh he's gonna be so pissed you said i mean we were all pretty bad it was hot it's like 36 it was hot they walked 36 they walked 36 in mirror field which is like the Masters pretty much. It was awful. And the rough was still like two and a half. It was awful. I felt like we had stormed the beaches of Normandy by the end of that round. Mental toughness.
Starting point is 01:59:55 Thank you for battling through so we could hear that Brady Quinn shot 100 and what? 30 on his home court? No, no, no, no, no. Between 100 and 407. It's not bad, Brady. It's not bad. But he was, in his defense, he was, you know, he was putting...
Starting point is 02:00:13 He was boosin' up. Yeah, he said it was hot and he was boosin' up. I don't think I'm allowed to say that, though. I feel like his budding political career... I don't know what we're allowed to say publicly about Brady anymore I didn't know you were tight with Brady Quinn as well I had no idea that was the case You and Brady Quinn pretty tight
Starting point is 02:00:31 He's like a A long time He's Fort Lauderdale guy until recently He is He sold out Shredded Still a statue
Starting point is 02:00:38 Great God Absolutely shredded Shredded Yeah he's running for politics I didn't know that AJ No I don't I don't know that either. Tell him he should. He's coming for
Starting point is 02:00:48 Anthony Gonzalez's spot. I just have my own personal theories that I probably shouldn't be airing. Is there any more? I think it's all about, you know, all of a sudden this J.D. Vance
Starting point is 02:01:04 fellow opens a seat up in Ohio. Just around the time Brady Quinn's spending more time in Ohio. Oh. I.A.J. would know more than me. The thing is, these politicians, they don't even tell their friends what they're doing until they do it. So Brady denies this. J.D. Vance didn't tell his wife he was doing it until there you go.
Starting point is 02:01:28 We all saw it. I mean, it was a long convention. They are. Do you know you have a camera on you the entire time? That's my first time ever watching. Did all those people know that there's just going to be close-ups on every single reaction they had? I think they always do, right? I don't know.
Starting point is 02:01:42 I don't know the convention game. It sounds like you and quinn are the people who should be asking about this whole thing not me i uh i know i know nothing uh i just wonder if my i my instincts are right aj you think so i assume it's something like that they're like i can take five hulksters here camera's gonna find hulkster no matter where he's at so So I can just kind of relax and dance. Dance at the music kit. That was a big re-emergence from the Hulkster. That shirt fought its ass off. That shirt made the SportsCenter
Starting point is 02:02:16 Top 10 actually last week. I don't know if you saw it for its performance of holding on as the Hulkster was trying to... I did see that. That was a great Top 10. Thanks, Jeff. Really doing journalism well. We'll never win one of those Emmys you have, but we are very lucky that you joined us in chit-chat. You look like Cristiano Ronaldo.
Starting point is 02:02:31 That is a compliment. Keep crushing it. We can't wait for football to start, Jeff. All right. Thanks, boys. Appreciate you. Jeff Darlington. Hell yeah, Jeff.
Starting point is 02:02:39 Thank you, sirs. So join the more than 400,000 Canadian entrepreneurs who already count on us and contact Desjardins today. We'd love to talk business. So he's friends with Brady Quinn, Tom Brady. This guy's the plug. Jeff Darlington's plugged in everywhere. Is that AJ? Yeah, it's that South Florida connection.
Starting point is 02:03:54 I think Brady is in Ohio right now, but his house was pretty close to Jeff's. Yeah, he hung out with Jeff a lot. And then Brady had like seven or eight dudes up here for like a golf thing at Muirfield. And Brady's like, why don't you come by and say hi? And like 10 p.m. we went over there. And yeah, those dudes were gassed up. They were juiced. Okay.
Starting point is 02:04:10 Not steroids. You're talking about incredibly intoxicated. I mean, just having a good time. Like fun. They had a nice setup. Like they have these villas down there. I didn't know. I'd never even been in them.
Starting point is 02:04:20 And all of a sudden we walk in and they have a huge dining room table. And there's like 12 dudes there and they're serving a mistake dinner i'm like we we're kind of interrupting here what are we doing this is awkward let's get out of here oh look who it is oh laura loves to say for you fuck you 36 they walked geez that they were playing the next morning too they were playing the next morning so that's brady qu the next morning. So that's Brady Quinn trying to alpha everybody? Like, yeah, I can walk 36 and then I can do another 18? I think in Mirafield you have to walk. I think maybe after 4 p.m. they let you have a card on certain days or something. Those courses suck, man.
Starting point is 02:04:54 No, they're the nicest, actually. That's why they suck. Speaking of sucking, the reaction to our WWE Duke games. It's not good. Hasn't gotten better? I think it's only gotten worse from when the show started. They're going to be even more pissed when we put Cody Rhodes through 18 tables. Really?
Starting point is 02:05:15 Yeah. Fuck that guy. We're taking him down. Ba-da-bing. Ba-da-boom. Ba-da-ba-ba-boom. Ba-da-boom. Ba-da-boom. Ba-da-ba-ba-boom. Badaboo, badaboo, badaboo, badaboo, badaboo, badaboo.
Starting point is 02:05:33 He's not a fighting champion. Badaboo, badaboo, badaboo, badaboo, badaboo, badaboo. Whoa! AJ, how come you didn't do it? You don't have respect for our champion? I thought we were cutting to tone. That's always tone's line. Yeah, well, we can hear him screaming over here.
Starting point is 02:05:53 I did it. I did it. Yeah. We can hear it. Turn the mics on. I'm not yelling that bullshit. Mic's on? I heard.
Starting point is 02:05:58 Well, you didn't say hello. How is Cody doing? When was the last time you defended his title? I saw him kill some of them. I was told everyone was happy because Roman Reigns wasn't a fighting champion. I ain't seen Cody Rhodes doing jack shit, brother. He's QB1 for the Bengals now, okay? All right. Okay.
Starting point is 02:06:13 Kyle Burrows got a new haircut. I don't know if you saw this, AJ. It is similar color to Guy and Eminem and Cody Rhodes. He looks sweet. He does. He looks absolutely sweet. What do you think this is? What do you think this is a message from Joey B? Why do you think he won't have the shorter hair?
Starting point is 02:06:32 Because I'm going to say it. His hair when it's grown out, sweet. It looks very sweet. But he looks cool all the time. Guy's obviously incredibly handsome. He's a model for Louis Vigucci. Over there in Paris and does his entire thing. What do you think, Ohio guy, Cincinnati? How do we feel about the haircut?
Starting point is 02:06:47 This is old school. I don't know. I mean, bleaching it, I don't know what has to do with that, but I think he's probably sick of people talking. Remember all the fake pictures of his extra long hair people were putting out? He's probably just saying, hey, we're about ball. We're not talking about my hair. The bongos put that out.
Starting point is 02:07:00 I thought he was doing like the Jimmy Butler. Like, hey, I'm going to add some flow to this, then all my season photos are going to look like this. And I'm going to show up in the entire season and I'm going to have shaved hair. That might be what he's doing right now. All these photos are potentially taking place right now. Exactly. I thought this was kind of like a funny move, kind of a sweet move, honestly,
Starting point is 02:07:17 because then all the Sunday Night Football primetime ones, he's going to have that sick long hair and then cut to the sidelines. No, but training camp, you do a lot of those. Yeah. You do your school and where you do a lot of those. Yeah. You do your school and where you're from usually before the game. Sunday night, Thursday night, all that shit. He 1,000% saw that 14-year-old soccer player that played for Philadelphia and said, I need to do that because he has the exact same hair.
Starting point is 02:07:39 You're talking about Kevin? Yeah, and that was like a week ago. We need to trade that motherfucker to enter Miami now so that he can touch Messi and know what the hell he's supposed to be doing in the future for the good of USA soccer. I know it's cool he's in Philly and he's from Philly. He's playing with his brother and all that shit. We need to actually get a guy who's going to help us win something meaningful.
Starting point is 02:07:59 He should just quit. Just go play baseball or basketball or football or something. He just had an assist in the MLS Young Lads game this afternoon. Who cares? We got a Young Lads game? What the fuck is that? I think one of the ruined European teams has his rights, too. Yeah, they have City.
Starting point is 02:08:14 Mon City. Five million bucks. Play cricket. All the good players. What? Cricket? Yeah, just say fuck it and go play cricket. Why?
Starting point is 02:08:22 We need this guy. Why not? He's 14. Because soccer stinks, and I'm sure he feels that way as well. But it's like, I guess I'm good, so I got to do it. I think his mom and his dad both played soccer professionally. They were. They were.
Starting point is 02:08:32 But, hey, never too late to fall in love with cricket or hurling. We just saw hurling. Handball. Get this kid on the hurling pitch. Just wait for our top ten this week. Oh, God. We are scanning the globe for the top plays. And Hurling
Starting point is 02:08:47 showed up in a big way. I can't wait to debut it, but we need him to play soccer. Because these soccer tournaments happen, and the United States are in these tournaments, and we need to not suck like we have. How do we even know we're going to play the guy? I was being told
Starting point is 02:09:04 that Gio Reyna, this guy's unbelievable. We get him on the team and Greg Berhalter squeezed his mom's butt or something and they didn't like it so he never played. Allegedly there was a situation. Allegedly. I don't know all the details but I mean we don't even play the guy.
Starting point is 02:09:20 I didn't know that. I'm being told that Tone Diggs has some corrections for us from this glorious Football Tuesday. Live from Hammer. Done. Time. Tone, what is the correct?
Starting point is 02:09:34 We didn't get anything wrong. Well, you guys were spotless yesterday. Not so much today. There was a bit of a Shung Shue Art of War situation. That's not Shung Shue. I got it correct. I think Ty might have said that Aaron got his shirt
Starting point is 02:09:51 from the store, the merch shop inside the pyramids. Oh, you said that. And somebody said that King Tut was running the register. King Tut is dead. I found that. Prince Tut then. At least his offspring. No, he's not. I found that. Prince Todd, then. At least his offspring.
Starting point is 02:10:07 Yeah, his boy's boy. Recently, similar to Sun Tzu, there was some speculation on Coach Sala's first name. It's not Joe. It's Robert. Hand up. Okay. That was a little bit of a chatter there. And then Darius early in the program was talking about streaming his match.
Starting point is 02:10:23 There was some speculation on who that would be against. I can confirm multiple sources. He was talking about Hulk Hogan. I believe the NWO version. Whoa. Who confirmed that? What? Are you kidding me?
Starting point is 02:10:35 What, is this Pave? How do you know that? Who? I can't reveal those. You know I can't. You know I can't reveal the source. What, the NWO version? Hollywood Hulk Hogan?
Starting point is 02:10:44 Hulk Hogan? Why that version? Not the Hulkamania? I don't know. There's videos. I can't confirm or deny. Well, you would be the source. We'll see.
Starting point is 02:10:52 Guy was just number eight on the top ten, boys. Well, he wasn't. Remember, it was the shirt. Oh, it was the shirt. It was the shirt. That must have been my top ten I was thinking of. Yeah, you had him at one. All right.
Starting point is 02:11:02 Let's get out of here. A lot of things happening tomorrow. A lot of things happening tomorrow. We'll have an interview with Coach Matt Rule tomorrow of Nebraska. Obviously, they're in town for the Big Ten Media Days, which we certainly knew was taking place just days before it started. We had that all prepared. I used to work those for SiriusXM.
Starting point is 02:11:23 I used to go in for a couple days and talk to all the coaches. Do they have like a radio row? I saw that at SEC Media Month down in Dallas they had a full radio row. That's something we should probably They do I think in Luke as well. You don't need it. Well we're pretty far away from where they are so it would have been pretty nice. Just probably would have set
Starting point is 02:11:40 something up downtown. I mean we'll write it down. Write it down for next year. Let's write it down for next year. It'll be back. We're not going to. We're going to take the show to the Hall of Fame on Friday. Thursday night Hall of Fame game. Friday show live from Canton.
Starting point is 02:11:54 And then head over to Cleveland for SummerSlam. And then back to Canton for the after party for Dwight Freeney, who will be on our show this week, I think Thursday. I believe he'll be on Thursday. Can't wait to chat with him about the whole thing. But I guess there's a luncheon that happens at the exact time of our show, on Friday at the Hall of Fame.
Starting point is 02:12:13 And we were told this last year, and then this year, I completely forgot about that. And then we get to the ha-ha-ha-ha, and then like, all right, so who do you think will be available? Like, well, nobody's available, because the Ray Nitschke luncheon is happening. And that's when the elder statesmen of the Hall of Fame
Starting point is 02:12:29 basically tell the younger and new class what the Hall of Fame is like. And it's a mandatory meeting for like two hours or whatever. It's like, what time is that? They're like noon to two. I'm like, all right. Okay, so we literally like one of the most mandatory events for every Hall of Famer happens at the exact time as our show. So that kind of fell through a little bit.
Starting point is 02:12:46 But next year, we'll learn. We'll understand and remember that it didn't take place. Big Ten Media Day is probably going to be in Indianapolis. Because Indianapolis just signed a massive ordeal for the Big Ten Championship through 2028, I believe, Tone? Is that what it was? That is correct. Indy's crushing. Yeah, great news.
Starting point is 02:13:02 With events absolutely killing it. So we got to go ahead. Is that a fox? That's a big fox thing, right? The Big Ten killing it. So we got to go ahead. Is that Fox? That's a big Fox thing, right? The Big Ten? Yeah. So we might not even be able to get in there. What's changed?
Starting point is 02:13:11 Hasn't it changed? A lot of the games are all over now, right? It's not all Fox. I'm talking about the Big Ten Media Day. Oh. Media Day is everything. Media Day is everybody. It's everybody.
Starting point is 02:13:22 They have people ESPN there. Was Fox at the SEC one? I'm sure they were. I don't know. I mean, we didn't see anything from them. Brady went to a couple of them. I don't know if he was at SEC or not. It's interesting.
Starting point is 02:13:35 In this new world of all these contracts. Yeah, where are the games? Yeah. And who has what and all that shit. Well, all the playoff games. Where's that? They reside in the ESPN. And? Smart. And TNT. Well, all the playoff games. They reside in ESPN. And?
Starting point is 02:13:46 Smart. And TNT. Oh, yeah, TNT. Which, massive news out of the NBA world. TNT has matched the Amazon offer. Because remember, the NBA just signed a brand new deal that was massive. Obviously huge. Amazon, NBC, ESPN will now be the rights holders of the NBA with, I believe,
Starting point is 02:14:06 ESPN having the lion's share of the product and content. Well, TNT obviously heard all the backlash about losing inside the NBA in this particular show that is considered the greatest television show to ever be on TV, especially in the sports media world. Charles Barkley came out a couple of times about being so confused on how the TNT people let this happen. This is kind of our gig. This is what we're known for. We are synonymous with the NBA. This show is synonymous with the NBA. It's created by
Starting point is 02:14:33 TNT. How do we let this happen? Well, by the deadline that they were given, TNT has matched Amazon's offer. So now the NBA is going to have to make a decision on whether or not they stay with TNT or they go back to Amazon and say, hey, your offer has been matched. Do they want to get even more? Is this NBA rights deal that we heard about going to get even bigger because of what just took place? Possible. Nonetheless, there's a chance this show is still going to be in our lives past this
Starting point is 02:14:58 upcoming season. And there's a chance TNT is still staying very focused in live sports and in the NBA, which is good news for all parties. I'll be excited to see how Amazon responds, how the NBA responds. A.J. Hawk? I mean, Amazon, I would imagine, hey, if they matched it, we're going to throw an extra couple hundred million on this program because they know this is what people watch. If you want basketball, this is it.
Starting point is 02:15:20 This is the show. We don't know how much longer we're going to have this whole crew together, too. So, yeah, I think they should up their offer offer and they have another season obviously already no matter what and we were talking like it was over over and i think it's because everybody was so bummed but there's another season happening and allegedly there had been some leagues both uh college and professional who had had much larger offers from amazon or a streaming service and turned it down to go elsewhere because they weren't necessarily sure if going strictly to a platform or streaming platform was the right move for their particular league or brand. I wonder if
Starting point is 02:15:57 the success that Thursday Night Football has had for the NFL and then them also getting the Black Friday game and everything that Netflix is getting involved if that time has changed. But in very recent history, Amazon and other streaming platforms have been turned down in a massive way with a much larger offer because teams and leagues or leagues
Starting point is 02:16:16 have decided to go in a growth and also familiarity way as opposed to a brand new and how many people are going to lose, how many people are going to piss off. And can you guys even pull this off? You guys have to hire somebody else's company to produce this thing. Are you even able to do it? I wonder
Starting point is 02:16:32 if Amazon, because of Thursday night, because of everything they're getting into, because of Peacock having success, obviously they're with NBC, Sunday Night Football hasn't been able to do it. I wonder how quickly that's all changing. But does the NBA say, if you just get in the ballpark of one of these people, we'll stay with you? Or are they looking looking for top dollar i guess that's what we'll find out from adam silver yeah i don't know and based on some of the numbers we've seen from like you would
Starting point is 02:16:52 apple tv has to do something if they want to stay competitive with some of the like with amazon and and stuff like like they they need to i don't know if it's whether it's live sports or not or like what their plan is but they need to shuffle some things around and try to be a little bit more competitive. Okay, so Apple is... Baseball and MLS, right? Yeah, they do, but it does... I mean, I watched some of those MLS games when Messi came in,
Starting point is 02:17:19 obviously, over there on Apple TV. I didn't fully understand how to sign up for it, but I was over there. I think a lot of people potentially went over there for the messy experience and then probably drifted away. Apple's trying to do stuff. Remember they had that live radio show that they were doing. Lil Wayne had one. A couple other people had one where they're trying to get a little bit
Starting point is 02:17:36 more content on there. I wonder if Apple does view it as it doesn't fucking matter. Probably. If it works, it works. I don't know. But think about that. Even though they got billions and trillions. But they know we always have to continue making money for our shareholders. No matter what
Starting point is 02:17:53 small it might be, it's not small for that whatever core group of people are trying to get live sports there. They will though because they're not going to stop selling iPhones. So I think that's probably the trade-off. We make so much money selling iPhones and computers and stuff like that. iTunes Store.
Starting point is 02:18:08 Yeah, exactly. Attachments and dongles because you can't plug this in. Yeah, that's how they make money. Because what was the – I think Nick sent it in earlier this morning. It's like they've spent $20 billion trying to get their original movies and TV series off the ground, and Netflix still gets more viewers in one day per basis.
Starting point is 02:18:28 They're burning money on this stuff. Netflix people are coming out and talking their shit too. Netflix people come out this week and talk their shit. Everybody's trying to do what we're doing. Their WWE stuff, that's going to make Netflix even bigger.
Starting point is 02:18:43 270 million global subscribers. That's huge. Only going up too, probably, right? For sure. No one's dropping off, are they? That's the thing. I think these other places people are on, and then they forget, and then they're off. Peacock. And there's obviously autopay. Yeah, Peacock
Starting point is 02:19:00 I guess had a massive... 500,000 subscribers. Yes. See ya. People just dropped off. Dumped it, said, no, I'm done. I think, I don't, the auto pay thing back in the day was the gimmick. And by back in the day, I mean a couple of years ago. People would get you in and then auto pay.
Starting point is 02:19:13 You don't even know. And it's priced where it doesn't even really show up in your shit. So it's like $7.99, $8.99. We can sneak by every month. These people forget, haven't used our app, haven't used our platform. They'll have no idea, but we'll just take nine bucks from however many people keep it moving now there's apps to tell you if you're auto paying and to ask you like hey you want to cancel you haven't been over here in a while boom it's like the apps have gotten almost too sophisticated for
Starting point is 02:19:39 humans to be taken advantage of by other apps and people are realizing what they're using what they're not using and it's like peacock i guess there was a mass exodus uh from there and i saw nfl people were like yeah a bunch of people bought that playoff game and then he said well i'll never fucking go here again and i'll just see you later which is exactly why peacock got the nfl game though like these live events are why these streaming platforms are investing so much in them because you're trying to get them to your platform and then we got to keep them. Amazon, for instance. Amazon has Thursday Night Football. And then immediately afterwards, remember, they had Titty Boy did a performance.
Starting point is 02:20:15 They had a music. They had a concert. They were investing afterwards. Kendrick Lamar. Because they got you on the platform and then they're trying to keep you there, trying to keep you there, trying to keep you there. Now, it's midnight after that Thursday Night night football game so it's going to be tough obviously on the west coast it's a little bit different but like that is the game for these platforms espn plus we get ufc over here people come for the fight and then bang we might be able
Starting point is 02:20:35 to get them into peyton's places or into anything else we were trying to feed them and just keep them over here netflix has been the only one that has really been able to get people there and then have them search surf and maintain staying there i think everybody else is trying to catch up right now that's the thing you got once you get them there you got to keep pumping out some good content whether it's original content or good movies like all these like prime amazon prime they got good apple tv even max i know i'm going max a ton to watch some uh you know good shows so you got to be able to do that but netflix not only do they keep adding people they keep bumping up their price i feel like yeah every year and then limiting how many people can log on to the account as well so they're doing something right over there and
Starting point is 02:21:12 they add that's just old stuff too yeah like a lot of the times that show suits which i haven't watched it's like an old show but it came back on netflix and it took over for like a month and a lot of those other places don't do that. It's been around long enough now where Netflix is just like a staple of people's lives. Like it's just like- Yeah, DirecTV, Comcast, Netflix. Exactly. And like Apple TV is like,
Starting point is 02:21:33 it's got good shit, but it's an intermediary. Like a lot of people who have Apple TV, like you have that, but then you're still just downloading the Netflix app or the Amazon app or whatever. You have the Apple TV box, but you're watching other people's subscription services. Yeah, Netflix is doing it. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:21:50 And if they're going to get into live sports and wrestling, we like that. And they already survived the big subscriber exodus. Ryan Day is live on ESPN right now. Okay, so ESPN has a presence down there. It's Big Time Media Day. I should try to access that. That would have been a better conversation on our end. What do you think Ryan Day is saying?
Starting point is 02:22:10 Yeah, fucking everybody's telling me I've got to win a national championship, or I'm gone. Yeah, I hear it loud and clear. Yep, absolutely loud and clear. We'll see how it goes. Also, remember, Chip Kelly's here. He's a very good coach. Yep, talked about that this morning on Get Up.
Starting point is 02:22:21 What's that? Ryan Day with Chip Kelly. I'm not going to say it. What? Because I ran into some Ohioans in the wild and they told me, stop bringing it up. Stop it. Don't even put it out there. If they lose to this
Starting point is 02:22:35 Michigan team and Columbus on this year, you know what I mean? On this year. Then what? It's a rebuild year for Michigan. You tell me, AJ. It's a rebuild year and it's a go year for Ohio State. And if Michigan was to come in and win on that, AJ, you tell me,
Starting point is 02:22:51 the whole state burns? What happens? It's no secret. Everybody knows you've got to beat Michigan, especially this year. If they lose to Oregon or USC, a team that is first year in the Big Ten, if they lose to anybody, they're going to fucking burn down the city. Who cares, he says. We'll fucking figure them out.
Starting point is 02:23:07 Let's still make the playoffs. We'll lose two games and make the playoffs still. Well, that's how Big Ten SEC football is going to be. I mean, shit, fucking, I'm facing teams in the college football playoffs that are losing four games, goddammit. Who's I? Bullshit. Coach Dutch Danger, excuse me. How's he doing?
Starting point is 02:23:22 I mean, I don't know. He just won back-to-back national championships. What? I thought you were battling through a scandal. I didn't know you were able to win. No, we battled through. No, we did. We didn't just battle through. You had the bloggers out and about.
Starting point is 02:23:32 Yeah, well, they were in, let me just say, fifth year now at Utah for Coach Dutch Danger. His boys are in there. Highest rated team in the country. We're preseason number one. So there is something to staying with your team. And I know for you there was a lack of options to leave Utah because of the scandals and the way you run your program. Figure that out. But now that you've been
Starting point is 02:23:50 with Utah for five years, you've been able to get all your recruits in there. Everybody there is your recruiting class. Back-to-back national champs. I assume it's easy to walk into a five-star house. They're calling me now. They're calling Coach Danger now. I respect it. Are you still playing this game? I am out of now. Excuse me. They're calling Coach Danger now. I respect the crime. Are you still playing this game?
Starting point is 02:24:05 I am out of Colorado. Left boulder. Once you do her, Travis and those guys. And look, you guys, your boys are right. There's no shortcut in building a dynasty. Yeah. I got to get out on the road and recruit. Oh, you can't auto recruit?
Starting point is 02:24:17 I can't do it. I can't trust AI to go out there and get my guys. Look, five years at a program, back-to-back natties, 90s across the board. I respect that. No shortcuts. So I got to go back to the drawing board. Definitely will not be. Where are you coaching at now?
Starting point is 02:24:32 Jacksonville State? No. I think I'm going to Oregon. Just going? What do you mean? Oh, no. Just completely received. It's a video game.
Starting point is 02:24:41 Oh, you're reached. No, it's not. No, it's not. I'm not going. No, it's not. No, it's not. I'm not going. No, it's not. You're restarting new names. Yeah, I got some. My offers, my job offers went down.
Starting point is 02:24:50 Now I got, like, fucking Sam Houston State. It's some other bullshit. Nope, I'm out. Starting this thing over. That's not a five-star prestige. You taking a coordinator gig, D-Butt? No, I'm starting. You taking a coordinator gig?
Starting point is 02:25:00 Working your way up? No, still. I'm starting to top it. But now I just know. Coward move. Now I just know. Got to recruit. There's no shortcut.. Now I just know. Got to recruit. There's no shortcut.
Starting point is 02:25:06 Got to send a house. Got to DM. Got to chase these little fucking kids around. But look. You're recruiting little kids, huh? You got to get those big boys up front, D-Butt. Okay. It's wild that you guys are still this committed, but I do appreciate it.
Starting point is 02:25:19 I mean, Big Dave Washington just won the Heisman. I had three. Who's Big Dave Washington? He's my wide receiver. Wide receiver three. Won a Heisman over the had three. Who's Big Dave Washington? He's my wide receiver. Wide receiver three. You won Heisman over the quarterback. Now you're going to have a little drama. Quarterback went one overall.
Starting point is 02:25:30 I tried to swing. He didn't win the Heisman? No, he had 75 pass touchdowns. I mean, Big Dave Washington had 75 catches, 30 touchdowns. And this is in freshman mode. No, this is on Heisman. 30 touchdowns, 2,600 yards in one season. And the kid came back.
Starting point is 02:25:45 He stayed. That's how committed these guys are to Coach Dutch Danger. This scandal built Danger. Okay? It's helped him. All these guys burying him, little did they know. You're Jim Harbaugh. Fucking fight, fight, fight, baby.
Starting point is 02:25:59 Everyone stays with Coach Danger. Yeah. He tied that together. All right. Seeing that on baseball diamond a little bit. Quite a bit. All over. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:26:08 All right. Let's get out of here. We got a big one tomorrow. If this ball falls tomorrow's show is going to be so good. Hell yeah. Oh, yeah. Here we go. Swag.
Starting point is 02:26:17 Swag. Yahtzee. There it is. Oh, no. Yahtzee There guys All right, I was gonna stink yep hold on maybe do that toss from there yeah, yeah, yeah, oh Baby oh Fucking rope Yeah, I know Oh. Got it. All right. I gave it my best effort. Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 02:26:46 You did. It's good. Good at that left foot. Great. Lefty. No, it just won't fall. Hip flexor's strong over here. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:26:53 All right. We'll be back tomorrow. We appreciate you so much. We got Coach Matt Rule on the show tomorrow. I'm excited for that. I should be going in studio. He's going to be sitting right here. Let's go.
Starting point is 02:27:01 That should be a lot of fun. Excited to break the whole thing down. 12-team playoff. Is Nebraska going to go in the second year? No. They're going to be a good team, man. Honestly. Are you going to say that whenever he's sitting here? Sure. Okay. They're going to be much better, yeah, but they're not making the fucking playoffs.
Starting point is 02:27:13 Alright, let's be positive. Be a friend. Tell a friend something nice. It might change their life. We appreciate you all so much. We're in this thing together. Team on me. Team on three. One, two, three, team! Goodbye!
