Welcome to our humble abode, the Thunderdome, on this big brawn-breaker Thursday, August 1st,
2024. This program starts now. We can't thank you enough for joining us in this wonderful time for
the world of sport. As the Olympics continue and we have massive implications taking place,
literally as we speak, for the women's gymnastics, the United States team, and everything else
happening. And we'll get to Tone Diggs and Hammer.
God, Todd.
In a matter of moments to cover all of that.
We also have, ladies and gentlemen, today is the day.
Okay?
There will be NFL jerseys on a football field tonight.
There will be NFL helmets on a football field tonight.
There will be NFL legends roaming and interviewing tonight with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman as the Monday Night Football cast
broadcasts our first NFL game of the season live from Canton, Ohio in the Hall of Fame game. We
made it. Hell yeah. We made it. I mean, this is a big day for all of us who eat, sleep, and breathe
the football. This is a moment that obviously tomorrow we'll be incredibly disappointed with
the football that was actually played. But as we we'll be incredibly disappointed with the football that was actually
played, but as we look at it right now,
NFL football is happening tonight, and
we need to be zeked up about it all.
It's not just me, obviously, here,
and we got a crew today
that is going to be awesome. The Toxic
Table is here at Boston Corner at Ty Schmidt.
Another fantastic shirt coming back.
Honestly, to be clear, I had no
idea I actually had this shirt in my
closet. I was just peeking through yesterday
because I wanted to see which ones I do
possess that have the American flag
on it. And I'll be honest, I think this might
be my new favorite one, even though yesterday was my
favorite one. This one, clearly one of the best
ones we have, and it's an eagle.
I'll tell you what, every day being your new favorite day
is a good mindset to have.
Absolutely. Because, you know, why not make everything the best thing ever if you're going to have to do it anyways?
And the next thing could be the best thing.
It's all in how your mindset is.
Now, outcomes might not be how you want them to be.
And certainly with this French bastard in the pool becoming the one.
We are in his era now.
We're not necessarily thrilled about that.
And Phelps.
But Phelps is enjoying it, so we need to enjoy it because we're witnessing greatness.
But we need to know that the next time that the United States steps foot on the gymnastics vault or the gymnastics beam or the gymnastics horse or the gymnastics high bars, uneven bars, all of it, we're going to win.
We're going to continue to celebrate all of it.
All of it.
We're going to win.
We're going to continue to celebrate all of it.
Joining us in what has been Tone Diggs' chair, and then it's D. Butch's chair.
Ladies and gentlemen, from Hammer, Don, Bruce Brown.
How are you, Bruce?
Good to see you, Bruce.
I know you're a man who loves the water.
You're a water polo player.
You were a swimmer at one point.
The swimming is electrifying.
It's coming to an end, though, your show.
Yeah.
It happens fast. Then track is coming in here we go but the olympics are at full speed and uh let's head to hammer dad time with tone digs tone what's the
updates we need to know from the olympics pal what have we missed that we haven't chatted about
what's going on right meow yeah let's start with the water and i'm not talking about the
swimming pool i'm talking about on the river or whatever they're doing, the U.S. rowing.
Okay, 64-year drought was ended when the men got a gold medal today.
Okay, shout-out.
That was in rowing.
Shout-out to Michael Grady, the Pittsburgh lad from Central Catholic.
He helped the four without a radio guy.
Okay, I can't remember what he's called. A coxswain. A coxswain. Yep, this is a four minus a radio guy. Okay. I can't remember what he's called.
Coxman.
Coxman.
Yep.
This is a four minus a Coxman.
They won the gold for the first time in 64 years.
Hell yeah.
Come on.
I'll tell you what.
You put us in one of them poop rivers, we can really move.
Oh, yeah.
Especially with that Pittsburgh kid.
He grew up around the Monongahela, the Allegheny, and obviously those two formed the Ohio.
There's normally dead bodies in there, which I guess dead bodies do have poop inside of
them.
So he probably felt pretty comfortable on this particular river.
But I'm proud of the row team, the crew team, the quads on these boys.
Gigantic.
The amount of work that you have to put in to become a rower, especially at the Olympic level, let alone win the Olympics,
is a dedication that obviously you would dream and hope that somebody would be able to have, especially if they were your child.
So congrats to them winning a big gold medal in the Raleigh.
We weren't supposed to win that one.
No, no, no.
That's too miserable of a sport for the United States,
a soft-ass United States of America to be able to win.
Instead, we're the fastest boat on the water.
That's a big thing.
That's a big thing.
That's a big thing to happen today.
Yeah, the synchronization on those boys is quite the feat.
Also, the golf started today, and Hideki went low.
Hideki Matsuyama was minus eight in the first round today, but that's fine.
Guess who's in second?
The reigning, defending gold medal champion Xander Shoffley is at minus six
after their round one.
And then Scotty Scheffler is sitting at a beautiful minus four,
just perfect striking distance after round one.
The U.S. is set up well for the weekend, I would say, in the golf.
It seems like the course is pretty simple. Yeah, a little bit. Straight forward.S. is set up well for the weekend, I would say, in the Gulf. It seems like the course is pretty simple.
Yeah, a little bit.
The course is pretty easy. We're going to see some
minus big numbers
throughout the weekend. There's one American not,
right? Which one?
Yeah, Wyndham's not playing
well. Who saw that coming?
I mean...
Tony, he's an American.
He's not Captain Captain America Bryson de
chambeau but he is currently a third fourth the last or whatever but he he
comes on late second half guy so we're in there golf is gonna be great to watch
all week weekend yeah all weekend all weekend okay it's like a normal
tournament they will finish on Sunday in we did shooting yesterday we're gonna
have to do shooting again today because there's a 51-year-old from
Turkey. His first name's Yusuf. Oh, I saw him.
Last name, your guess is as
good as mine. Yusuf.
Yusuf Shooter.
Yusuf Shooter so-and-so.
You've seen the shooters. They've got the
monocles on that have basically a digital
touchscreen in there. They've got the big
earmuffs on. This guy's
got one hand in his pocket, one
hand on that shooter. Doesn't
give a shit. And he won silver yesterday.
He is an absolute dominant
performance out there.
Look at that. Look at the guy next to him.
Look at Yusuf. There was never a chance
here, okay? Yusuf was taking his home all day.
Yeah, Yusuf, people were saying
on the internet, like, let's win but not by
too much, Yusuf, whenever they sent him out here because there is a thought that Yusuf actually could have been,
everybody's so steady and still and obviously trying to control his heart rate.
Yusuf's heart rate doesn't go above 45.
Never.
So that is his profession.
They were thinking he was in the middle of that thing, going to go bump, bump, bump,
and then toss it, catch it, boom, left hand, bang, bang, bang, and then get the gold.
And they told him, hey hey you can't be doing that
because then you're kind of giving yourself away right we want people to celebrate how relaxed you
are but not start snooping around yeah this guy seems to be a cold-blooded killer a great shooter
and obviously an internet lord at this point for how he uh accomplished what he accomplished he's
old school shooter big time he's old school shooter and uh obviously we pay respect to that
even though he is not i did not need special equipment i'm a natural shooter we know we know that we don't know how many of these are walking
around though we need to understand that in the united states of america uh in a three-on-three
basketball we need to get our best out there and in the shooting world we got shooters yeah we do
yeah we got sure you go to any shooting club in the middle of america or in the south you got
people just just pinging all over everything yeah and then all of a sudden in the middle of America or in the South, you got people just pinging all over.
Everything.
And then all of a sudden in the Olympics, they're not there.
Is there an age limit? No. Yusuf
is obviously able to do this.
So let's make sure we're getting our Navy SEALs
in this entire thing going forward
so we can represent. But Yusuf's a dog
and we need to remember that those are walking around
somewhere. Those are just walking
around. Tread lightly.
Look how normal he looks.
Yep.
That just looks normal.
Two days in a row that clear assassins have won the shooting events.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And it's almost like, you know, when Frank Lucas wore that fur coat to that boxing?
Yes.
Because his wife bought it for him and he felt obligated
and he was sitting in front of a bunch of people.
Yep.
And all of a sudden it's like, well, who is this guy?
He's sitting in front of Nicky Barnes.
Bang, you can't be doing that.
You're too loud.
You're too loud.
He comes home and burns it.
He knows it was an immediate mistake.
Oh, no.
The block is hot all of a sudden.
It's almost like the Olympics are potentially a situation
where the blocks might get hot for a couple of these snipers.
So maybe that's why our greatest assassins aren't representing
the United States of America because they're like,
gold medal's cute and all, but also, let's keep people off of my ass.
Got people to kill later.
Yeah, exactly.
That's wild.
That's a wild story. I mean, especially because the conversation with the shooting is like, what do they have on their eyes?
Like, look at that guy on the right.
He clearly, like, he is competing in something.
Dude on the left, Yusuf Gunn, he's not competing in anything. All he
does is shoot and he doesn't care.
What are the rules?
I got to hit.
Center mass, bullseye. Is that head?
That's what we're saying, the middle. It's right in between
eyes. Do I have to do two chest and one head?
Yeah, exactly. Reverse. What if next
time Yusuf gets in this
and he does have glasses on and he just
turns the bullseye into a head
because he got so bored so now I need this thing to be an actual head so on his eye thing
it's just like an actual human that he knows or has to kill like yeah are we double tapping much
easier what a time close the olympics are fantastic whenever you're when it comes to learning about new
people new sports anything else we missed in the o room? Not new people, not new sport.
U.S. men's basketball took care of South Sudan yesterday.
They did not cover, but they did.
It was a lot better than the performance.
What?
Well, I hit a universe ball.
Yeah, you did.
And that thing splashed with the FIBA ball, obviously.
Tyrese Halliburton gets his first action, buries a three immediately upon getting on the court.
That's great news.
Jason Tatum was obviously in the starting rotation after not playing in the first round.
Had a great alley-oop.
Had a good shot to get the jitters out to start the entire thing where he hucked it off the side of the backboard.
That was certainly a, let's go ahead and get our Olympic play started and get in there.
The team is vibing.
Bam obviously led the team in scoring.
Derek White is in on the action on a very regular basis.
The team seemingly coming together in a beautiful fashion. This gold is for us the action on a very regular basis. The team seemingly coming
together in a beautiful fashion. This gold is for us, Diggs. This is our gold. And I think I love
what I'm seeing from the teamwork, from the check your ego at the door, from the let's work together.
It's an all-star game where everybody seemingly is committed and cares. Shout out to our Team USA
men's basketball team because there was a lot of questions going in and they're kind of answering
all of them. Yeah, and this is not a, it's a, well, it's not a made-up stack completely,
but it's definitely not the right one. They assisted on like 25 of 35 baskets. There's
somewhere along those lines. They assisted on a lot of baskets yesterday. So they,
to your point, yeah, they're working it around. This team loves each other. Gold's coming home.
I like the fact that you're able to check the ego at the door. And Jason Tatum could have clearly
been a distraction.
And Bede could have been a distraction yesterday.
He's dapping people up. They're keeping it moving.
Let's go win a gold for the USA,
boys. We're proud of you. We appreciate you.
Because remember, we like talking shit,
and that's one of the sports we thought we... Rowing.
We didn't even know we were allowed to touch. I had no idea.
Haven't won in forever, but now we're allowed to say,
you guys want to get on some boats?
Let us lead the way. Actually, let's all try.
We'll lead the way because we're going first.
We are the tip of the spear whenever it comes to boats.
And then whenever you think about the basketball,
we're supposed to win it.
Then we see that three-on-three shit, and we're like,
that's got to get fixed.
We're getting smacked around.
In both sides.
Didn't win a game.
The women's team, and listen, no disrespect to Azerbaijan.
We should never lose to Azerbaijan in basketball.
Ever.
In anything.
Azerbaijan, though, they got some Azerbaijumpers.
Well, they absolutely do.
But it's just like, we're playing basketball here, okay?
We win when it comes to basketball.
I don't care what type of basketball.
We want to play horse.
We should win.
So it leads me to Jalen Brown is not going to get on that three-on-three team, right?
That's disrespect?
Is that how they view it as disrespect?
I don't know.
Like Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese.
Could they have not been on a three-on-three team?
I don't know if pros can play.
Genuinely.
I don't know if our professional NBA guys can't play in the three-on-three.
I'm not sure.
We need to go to an LA Fitness to find some.
You said yesterday, though, let's get a couple guys who played in the NBA for 10, 12 years
who are either in the big three right now or retired who would go out there and everyone's
talking about how good Serby is in three-on-three.
Okay, let's get J.R. Smith, Joe Johnson, and someone else from the big three who played
in the NBA for a long time, was an all-star. We'll let's get J.R. Smith, Joe Johnson and someone else from the big three who played in the NBA for a long time,
was an all-star. We'll win 21
to 4. Hey, they're fighting over there in big three.
You see Gary Payton running his mouth? Oh, yeah.
They got Gary Payton completely... Really running
it. He's running
that thing everywhere. And then there was almost a fight
in the big three. And Gary said, there ain't no
backing down. He stood in
the face of this guy. I'm like, is the glove
about to fight somebody in Big 3? But we have
an entire league. Why aren't we pulling from them?
I have no idea. Mid-season.
I understand.
Ice Cube would have to be able to stop
for a little bit so that our Big 3
All-Stars can go over there. Don't like us getting embarrassed
in that. But I like that our basketball team, both
men's and women, are being dominant because
we can be obnoxious about it. But also,
it's better for the Olympics as a whole whenever our superstars that the world knows are still competing and getting after it, which leads to today right now.
Simone Biles and Suni are battling right now?
Is that what's taking place?
Yeah, the women's all-around, I believe, starts at noon today.
And Suni Lee was the gold medalist in the last Olympics 2020.
And then Simone was the gold medalist in this event back in 2016.
And Jordan Childs was, I believe, fourth qualifying for this.
So there's a chance that the U.S. goes one, two, three in this event today,
which would be awesome.
Yeah, I can't wait to watch it.
Obviously, the Golden Girls is what they have called themselves
or the fucking fuck around and find out team.
Whatever title that they're going by are a tight group.
They obviously came together to beat the ass of Italy and Brazil
and the rest of the world the other evening
where we could celebrate being back on the gold.
And we actually took the podium with them yesterday for the national anthem.
That was a lot of fun.
But now they're battling against each other.
Who's going to come out on top?
Is it going to be Simone's last hurrah, or is she going to come back in four years?
Or is Suni going to say, hey, don't you worry, Simone.
I got the team the next time.
It'll be an interesting battle.
Can't wait to see what they do.
We'll obviously keep everybody updated.
Anything else from the Olympics, Tone?
No, I don't.
No, okay.
What about the women's boxing?
So there is quite a story coming out from the women's boxing.
And to be 100% clear, hey, thank you, Tone, from Hammer.
Tone.
Tone. We appreciate you.
The women's boxing, I haven't done
enough research. I saw that the
International Boxing Association
deemed a couple of the boxers
that are in the Olympics, still in the Olympics,
not eligible to box in women's
boxing because they had too much testosterone
or they were deemed
a male, I believe,
from XY crumbs up from the from the
research that i've done so now we're watching the olympics and this italian girl uh has made it she's
boxing committed her whole life to boxing committed her whole life this girl her dad passed away i do
believe very recently very recently i assume her and her dad hit like i assume this is a big story
and then all of a sudden she finds herself in the Olympics moving forward and she has to fight somebody from Algeria who has been banned from other
competitions because uh not woman enough to compete and then 46 seconds in to her Olympic
fight with this uh person from this woman from Algeria basically taps out broken nose. Then afterwards she cries
and she's like, I've never been punched that hard in my life. And it's like, for me, I know this
conversation has been happening for a few years. I just don't understand how we got to this point.
And I am coming from a very empathetic point of view as well, because as we all kind of learned
about the transgender situation that was happening for people, I think we're all incredibly bummed
that. That would be terrible. If your soul did not match your physical body, that would be quite a
conflict every single day. I have no idea how that would test you. Every day you wake up,
you're just not who you're supposed to be. I have a lot of empathy for that. But the soul being
of a different sex of
your physical body is something that people much smarter than me are gonna you know have to talk
about when when it comes to sports it's like the physical body especially in these physical is the
one competing so i think there should be some sort of conversation there especially at very very high
levels because whenever you're talking about Olympics and dreams and chasing that girl
bawling her eyes out from Italy it's like think about her entire life was committed then she gets
into a fight with somebody who physically is going to be you know more capable just throughout
history uh then she even has a possibility of being like if you just look at a simple stat here
let's just do the swimming okay here's the women's swimming gold medals times
from this particular Olympics, and then the men's swimming gold medal times from this particular
Olympics. And we're talking about the best in the world. There's a couple Olympic records in here.
There's a couple world records in here. We're talking about the best of all time. The men's
ones are faster. That is just natural. And you know, there's a women's basketball, there's a
women's golf tee, women's volleyball,
the net is a little bit lower.
These are things that have just been happening
since the beginning of sports.
And then all of a sudden now the conversation has turned
like, no, there is no difference.
It's like, there is, especially at a very high level.
And I just hope that the people who are much smarter than us
can kind of sort through that.
Because once again, a lot of empathy.
Want you to live your absolute best life. But I have a daughter who is 15 months old. Happy anniversary to my lovely bride. I have
a daughter who's 15 months old. And if she works her entire life, okay, to get to a massive platform,
to the biggest competition of all time, and then all of a sudden she has to take on,
competition of all time. And then all of a sudden she has to take on like, that's just, that is unfair. And I know that it's not every woman in every male physical body. We're not talking about
souls. We're talking about the physical bodies are going to be like better, but it's like at
those high level of competition, there is a clear advantage there. There always has been. I assume
there always will be. And I hope we get to a point where we can all agree on this that like, hey,
this is I think we all feel the same way about this.
Once again, empathetic.
Once again, do not appreciate that that has been their lives being conflicted.
But when it comes to sports, especially like at the Olympic level,
we're at the NCAA championship level or at professional level.
It's like, hey, there's people that will abuse the empathy in lieu of competition and take advantage of the entire situation. Don't rule that out of
the picture. But also we need to figure out how that can all work going forward because we want
everybody to be happy when everybody compete. But also we need some fairness and there's no reason
that we should be seeing, you know, a potential male physical body
punching like that is just growing up that's like the worst
thing that you could possibly do and now it's like we've gotten to a point where it's like
well is it it is like if that girl from Italy was to inject testosterone into herself which would
make her um more like a male physical body, she would be banned.
She would be banned.
That's what they would.
Maybe not.
That's what they would be testing for.
It's like, that's what they test for.
And then it's just, it's a very obviously interesting subject because how new it is.
And I know Riley Gaines has been very much in the forefront
because she comes in second to a swimmer who competed in the men's college
and then comes into the women's one.
And that's all. And I haven't looked into it enough.
But this Olympics thing that happened with the like, it's sad.
Like, this is a very sad situation. And she breaks her nose in 40 seconds.
It's like we have to acknowledge at least a little bit of something while also understanding that these people in their lives is vastly different than everybody else.
So with that being said, we shout out the Olympics. We're thankful for the Olympics.
But the Olympics is also something that potentially broadcasts and spotlight a situation that we
can all kind of rally around, understand, and move forward with.
And that's how I think our entire show feels.
That's how I feel.
I do not want to, you know, I haven't done enough research.
We hope the smart people figure it out.
But that's just, it doesn't make sense.
It doesn't make sense.
We're pretty confused by it. And I assume there'll be people that are smarter than us that'll tell us why and
how it all works out. But as somebody that's been in sports my entire life, I don't fully
understand how we got to this point. Yeah. And for someone who's been boxing their entire life,
to immediately 40 seconds into a fight to be like, hey, this is not something that I have,
which I've done forever. I've been boxing, boxing obviously you're in the olympics you're going for a gold medal you have been boxing your entire life and then within
30 seconds be like this isn't this isn't what I've been doing my I think we're all on the same page
though I think everybody's on for sure and I saw a clip as this whole thing was happening where
there were some people who seemingly were in a position of importance and they're like there's no advantage uh between the genders
of people competing and it's like maybe when you were a child and like uh girls develop quicker
than boys and so like there's a lot of that happening like under 10 under 12 but once
puberty happens and people start like separating themselves athletically
from other, there is a clear, you know, and there always has been always, always size of the
basketball. Like, like you go through every sport, there's always been like decisions that have been
made since the beginning of sports. And then it's like, now we're watching the Olympics. This is
supposed to be like the highest. And then all of a sudden the international basketball association's
like, we cannot believe that the Olympics is letting this happen.
And we're like, I don't understand how this is happening either.
I have no idea how we got to this point.
I'm very confused.
Once again, there's people probably smarter than us, way smarter than us in the world, obviously,
but in this particular thing that could educate us.
But I don't know how we got to this.
I legitimately do not understand.
It's sports for sure, but it's magnified when it's in terms of physical, like when there's violence involved, you know,
it's like we saw the proof is in the pudding.
Like this girl is this girl from Italy is an unbelievable boxer.
Obviously, she broke her nose 40 seconds into the fight, like basically like on the first
combo that got landed.
Like so it's really magnified and stuff like that where it's like MMA when like the goal
of it is to is to hurt your opponent.
That's what you're trying to do.
You're not trying to outpoint them.
You're not trying to, you know, like the goal is like, okay,
I'm going to impose my physicality on this person,
and the more physical person typically wins.
I just, I don't, I woke up to it, I think, like we all did,
and it got in my algorithm.
A lot of the stuff stays out of my algorithm,
and I'm very thankful for that because it's all been politically,
you know, kind of divisive so much.
But this one just like made it into my algo
and I'm like, how is this, how is this a lot?
How is this where?
I think we all agree.
I think we all agree.
We have to.
Anybody with a common sense has to agree
because since the beginning of time,
this has been something.
And then all of a sudden it's just like, no, it's not.
It's like, well, you're wrong.
Anyways, we will continue to watch the Olympics,
and we hope the smart people get it figured out.
The people that are better than us and smarter than us,
we hope they get it figured out,
because I don't want to see just male bodies,
because it's different.
The soul and the body are two different things.
That sucks.
I feel incredible.
Live your best life.
I want you to live your best life very much.
I mean, like, I'm a very big supporter of people being happy
and living your best life.
But whenever it comes to sports and competition and fairness
and everything like that, like, we have to have a conversation.
And somebody's going to have to have a real conversation.
And hopefully this is something that maybe puts it over the finish line.
The Olympic Committee has to figure it out.
So the IBA, International Boxing Association,
was deemed too corrupt by the IOC.
And they kind of brought it in-house and outsourced the regulations and everything to the countries themselves. Which then kind of leads to what seems like Algeria taking advantage and basically cheating.
Algeria is not the only.
There is another, right?
Chinese type pay ethic.
It's interesting.
So once again, cannot stress this enough.
Coming from an empathetic point of view as the human,
like I understand, like that is not.
Now granted, I think there are people
that would probably take advantage of it
just for competitive reasons to find a win.
And if you haven't been around competitive people much,
like there are people that will certainly do whatever to win.
Like that is something that people would do.
And I think people will take advantage of that,
the world's empathy for this entire situation,
which we certainly have.
But it's like, when you're talking about sport,
come on, come on, come on, come on.
There's reasons that things have been the way they are.
We all understand that.
It's all very natural.
I'm not saying that I am better
than professional women's basketball players
or any of those sports.
I'm not saying like, hey, I,
but the people that are in the sport,
like could, you know, like is, in college, same thing.
We're talking about, it's just, hopefully people will sort it.
Speaking of getting sorted, tonight we have the Hall of Fame game.
Here we go.
Huge.
Who is going to end up at the top of the Lombardi Mountain?
Who is it going to be?
Is it going to be the Texans who start their voyage today?
Is it going to be the Bears who start their voyage tonight?
We got Badgett taking on...
Dougie Mills, baby.
And...
And Case Keenum.
The Texans are currently favored by one and a half points.
They're favored by one and a half points.
Over-under is 30 and a half.
From the videos that we have seen from the Houston Texans training camp,
with Case Keenum
and Dougie Mills playing, we believe that the Houston Texans are probably going to win this
one. But we have no idea who the third string is going to be. We have no idea what the third and
fourth quarters are going to look like. We have no idea, which is why these games are so interesting
to gamble on. I think Texans are the smart bet. I think Texans are the fun bet.
But there's a chance this Chicago Bears team with Ibraflus and Caleb Williams in the third, fourth quarter, people trying to make this new era,
this new roster, anything could happen tonight.
Yeah, Ibraflus allegedly is 5-1 in the preseason,
so you've got to take that into account.
I think that other number on that little graphic, 30-1⁄2,
is very interesting because with this new kickoff rule,
I am particularly betting on new kickoff rule i am particularly
betting on a kickoff return touchdown it feels like something electric is going to happen in
special teams i don't know when it might be the first one it might be the last one but 30 and a
half points dougie mills case keaton they can sling it the bag man tyson tyler badger who's been doing
burpees for miles around the track he said said he did one mile of burpees.
Yeah.
A broad jump in between each up-down.
Yeah, so the guy's ready.
I mean, the guy came to play, and he's got some sweet tats.
And his dad, professional arm wrestler.
That's right.
I mean, that is a dog.
Mentally a dog.
So I think we might have some electricity tonight.
Now, I don't know if that means electric in the fact, like,
someone might go for a deep ball and it might bounce off their
face mask instead of catching it, because
that is Hall of Fame football
sometimes. Not Hall of Fame, but
Hall of Fame game football. But I mean,
it's just nice, the fact that we're going to be able to
hear some pads hitting, see a ball
get handoff, see some throws.
That's what we're here for. Joe Buck, Troy Aikman,
calling a game. Jason
Kelsey's big debut tonight on the Countdown
show. I mean it's going to be a beautiful night and
we're going to celebrate those who are going into the Hall of Fame
obviously. A lot of interviews. Dwight Freeney will
get celebrated this evening as he should. Andre
Johnson will get celebrated this evening as
he should. Devin Hester will obviously
Patrick. I mean the whole crew is going to
be talked to. Tonight will be a good celebration of football
and we can't wait for it. Speaking
of celebration of football, there's a football wait for it. Speaking of celebration of football,
there's a football guy right now in the WWE
that's on a rocket ship.
Uh-huh.
I've had a front row seat to this.
Yes, you have.
And I'll tell you what.
I've never been more pumped
once I saw this human debut on Monday Night Raw.
And then I started doing a little bit more research.
Oh, this guy played at Kennesaw State football?
Okay.
Oh, this guy has an eight-minute highlight reel from Kennesaw State.
Just absolutely bulldozing his way.
He could go all the way.
Obviously, I had no idea if he was going to get caught there.
We're going to run full speed all the way through the end zone,
all the way out of the end zone.
And that speed you see right there is the difference between him and I think everybody else
in the WWE. This man had been clocked coming off the ropes at 24 miles an hour, fastest ever. His
spear actually saws people in half. Ladies and gentlemen, this weekend has a massive match with
WWE legend and Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn on Saturday night in Cleveland
at SummerSlam, ladies and gentlemen, Braun Breaker!
Yeah!
Hey!

Boo Boo Boo Boo Boo Boo Boo Boo Boo Boo Boo Boo Boo Boo Boo Boo How'd that guy get in here? Good question. That was so disrespectful.
Canada's not better than USA.
No.
That was just one part of that entire site.
Sir, I'm sorry for the hostile.
Hey, thanks for coming.
Mr. Breaker.
Mr. Breaker, sorry.
Sorry about that.
Sorry about that.
We are so sorry.
How'd that person get in here?
Good question.
I have no idea.
What do you think?
Sami Zayn's going to break Braun Breaker?
Yeah.
Interesting.
Canada's better than the United States of America?
What's this guy hate cheeseburgers?
That's what it felt like.
It did, didn't it?
It did.
It felt like he hates wingies probably.
Probably.
But then how would he?
He's a pretty big guy.
He is.
He's a pretty big guy.
I mean, now he's three feet tall because he's got a solid in half.
Boom!
I appreciate you handling that business for us.
We need to keep you around more often.
Yeah, for sure.
Did you turn that thing on?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, my man.
Hey, sorry about that.
Jeez.
But let's talk about it a little bit.
Whenever you hear stuff like that, the doubters potentially going into SummerSlam,
because we understand, we've kept track, you lost to Sami before for the Intercontinental title.
We're all bummed out but we
love sammy zane sammy's done a lot for the wwe he's obviously gritty he's entertaining but boy
you getting a title would be a beautiful thing especially as a football guy how do you feel here
a couple days out from summer slam and uh another title opportunity against sammy zane you know i'm
ready you know more than i think ever this because i, look, I'm a firm believer in, like,
failure is the biggest way to learn.
You know what I mean?
Hell yeah.
So, I mean, me failing, you know, going against him at Money in the Bank
in his home country in front of all of the, like, I mean,
it had just an entire, everything, oh, the deck was stacked against me.
Amen.
From the get-go.
So, I mean, you know, and I fell up short in my first big, you know,
my biggest match.
And I think, like, I learned.
That was the best thing that could have happened to me in this situation,
honestly, because I learned so much from it.
I've been grinding on a different level to get back into the position
where I go for the championship.
So, I mean, it's – I'm ready, man.
Like, Saturday, it's over for him.
He's had a wonderful, great career.
He's main-evented WrestleMania.
My career.
He's done just unspeakable things in our industry, right?
But it's over for him.
Yeah.
Hell yeah.
It's over.
I like that confidence.
And you said you took on him, Money in the Bank in Canada,
this weekend, Saturday, in the dog pound.
That's right. That's right. That is a... That's what I'm thinking about. Yeah, yeah. I don't know if you've thought about that yet, said you took on him money in the bank in canada this weekend saturday in the dog pound that's
right that's right that is a yeah yeah i don't know if you've thought about that yet but i
certainly have as soon as uh it's announced that it's at cleveland browns stadium in the great
state of ohio cannot wait to get over there tomorrow the kickoff press conference is at 5
p.m eastern and then on saturday there's a kickoff show starting at 3. And then all the way into the SummerSlam.
And obviously, a night that is going to be amazing.
Obviously, he's a big piece of this.
Him and Sami Zayn are a massive title.
But the card is stacked.
Truly.
Saturday night in Cleveland is going to be epic.
And I can't wait for it.
Let's talk a little bit about ball, if you don't mind.
I know you're a football guy.
Let's do it.
Hey, you miss football?
You know, I mean, I was at peace with football when I left.
You know, I had opportunities to go back and, you know,
like play in the league some more after, you know,
I was done with the Ravens.
And I just, I said no, you know.
I wanted to be with WWE.
You're calling.
And I know it's probably something that's a little bit difficult.
I've seen, obviously, The Rock, the documentary, because his dad was in it.
And he was like, I don't necessarily want to follow my dad's path because of how hard he saw the whole road to be.
And then there's a lot of second-generation professional wrestlers that initially didn't want to get into the business
because they've seen what it's done to their family and everything like that.
For you, when you were growing up, did you want to get into the business? Did you not want to get into the business? What were seen what it's done to their family and everything like that for you. Yeah. When you were growing up, did you want to get into business?
Did you not want to get into business?
What were your thoughts?
Because you're perfect for the business.
Oh, yeah.
So you are perfect for the business.
And as soon as I saw you come out, I was so pumped.
I mean, I lost my mind about it all.
Yeah.
I mean, I think the business has evolved a little bit since that time, since my dad was
doing it.
And obviously, The Rock's dad, too.
I mean, I just think it's just different.
You know, it's a different time right now.
You know, I mean, I always wanted to do this ever since I was a kid.
It was always my dream.
But I also love football and, you know, amateur wrestling too.
So, you know, I took those things as far as I could take them.
I mean, you know, I played college football.
I played D1 at Kennesaw State.
Dominate. Not just play.
Dominate. Eight-minute highlight.
As long as he's played in the history of Kennesaw State
offensive football, it'll be a deal. Hey, we love the way
you run with head straight back. Once he
breaks free, and that head goes up,
and you go down. The
knees are driving. Touchdown.
And you run out the back like you're Forrest Gump.
We love everything about it.
Just so much effort all the way through.
You like pancakes?
I hope so.
You were an electrifying football player.
We had no idea whenever you were there.
We wish we would have watched it.
But you were electrifying at Kennesaw State.
And then you get a call, obviously, draft night.
And you go to the Baltimore Ravens during the COVID year, I do believe, right?
It was 2020.
So there were some things that were obviously different that year than maybe any other year i'm a firm believer with the way you
show up in big moments in this highlight tape and the way you work in your work ethic and everything
like that that if it was on any other year you're still in the nfl but the fact that you're not
gives us all a show in the ww yeah so i want to let you know i'm kind of happy that it happened
but i am i understand where you probably were at a point where like, wow,
this seems to be different than any other year.
I'm not really kidding.
I had multiple opportunities to go back after I was released.
I mean, on the literal day that I signed my WWE contract,
when they called me on the phone and said that I was going to be,
you know, I got the job.
The NFL Alumni Association in Canton called me and, you know,
they said that I got selected to be a part of the group to come up and train 15 weeks out of the year with like helmets and pads every week.
And then, you know, I guess during that in particular season, you couldn't have guys come in and work out.
You had to be signed to the organization because of COVID restrictions and stuff.
So I got selected to go up and do that.
And it was basically 11 on 11, 11 guys on defense, 11 on offense selected.
And then you guys trained for however many weeks of the year in full pads.
They're filming it, signing it to teams, I assume.
They would pull guys up off the alumni association
and stuff at a free agency um you know and then i mean i had you know buffalo's called me you know
i want to say bean bean bean he knew he knew it called me after i've been w in wwe and on television
for a few months so i mean there's there's been opportunities for me to go back i just don't uh
i love wwe This is what I was
freaking born to do.
This weekend, we're getting our first title
in, I don't want to say the main, but you
get it. I don't want to take any shots at anybody.
I'm an NXT legend, as are you.
You are, dude.
A lot of people forget.
Whenever you were doing
the training camp for the Baltimore Ravens during COVID
when it was the most different it has ever been,
I was very lucky to be part of NXT when it was most different than it had ever been.
Toughest hour they've had.
Yeah, I don't know if any eight-minute promo on the carryover hour.
So, I don't know, just like four weeks straight.
So, main event, war game.
Just something to think about.
Just something to remember.
Just check the analytics.
And speaking of WWE 2K, I guess the PlayStation servers were not working perfectly yesterday.
No, at all.
Nobody could download the greatest DLC pack of all time, which is a bummer.
But I saw some great clips.
It's only going to get better.
And as we get into that game and the ability to download that game, we're only going to win. Speaking of winning, this is awesome.
I mean, that is so cool that that even exists. Had a little celebration last night with the wife that I was in a WWE game, we're only going to win. Speaking of winning, this is awesome. That is so cool that that even exists.
Had a little celebration last night with the wife that I was in
a WWE game, like Dream Come True.
Boys are in there. Can't download it on PS5,
which is what we play in here, so we
haven't been able to really do it at all yet.
Did we crash the servers?
Maybe.
Sony's asking.
Don't tell the wrestling fans that.
No, no, no.
I said, hey, WA, did we crash the
server? And then I got a bunch of wrestling fans
immediately. This guy is so delusional.
So delusional. Not that we've ever
crashed any servers before at like four different companies,
but this is certainly something I think that they are
currently dealing with.
And once it gets available, we'll give a heads up. Hopefully they'll
give a heads up, and then we'll just beat Bron Breaker's
ass in a video game. Because in real life,
real life, we're looking like that stooge over there against this man uh let's talk a little
football shall we a lot of football news happening uh out of the new york giants hard knocks off
season there's been a lot of information that has been released from the giants now me as football
stooge you as football stooge getting a chance to watch all this happen and unfold for the first
time ever in the history of the nfl was incredibly. But there's a lot of things said that were
like, damn, like there's a lot of shit getting out of these conversations. Saquon Barkley,
obviously comments about Daniel Jones, Malik neighbors, even other guys getting drafted.
We're seeing behind the scenes of them. So we were learning a lot, the most we've ever learned
about an off season before. So shout out to NFL films hitting an absolute home run with that
entire series. Now
they're chit-chatting a little bit more in the last episode
about draft night. Chris Ballard and the Colts
were trying to get up there. Here's the call.
You guys
looking to come up?
1546 next year's too. Okay.
We'll let you know. Okay.
Thanks, Chris. Alright, bye.
That's too far. We're not doing that.
I'm not going back.
Joe Douglas is calling.
Hold on.
Hello?
Yeah, I think we're going to pick.
What are you thinking?
Nick?
Nick?
Okay.
Yeah, no, I think we're going to stay.
Okay, so the Colts and the Jets were looking
to get up there we won't even dive into what the Jets were potentially looking for it could be
anything yeah it would be an offensive line could you know could be another weapon to add there could
be on defense because Salah's running thing I mean there is so much for the Colts though that's an
immediate discussion because I was saying before the draft that I understand what everybody's
thinking is going to happen in this draft.
But if Jim Irsay walks into that draft room and says, Marvin Harrison has a kid that's coming into the NFL.
Marvin Harrison is on our ring of honor.
Marvin Harrison built this stadium alongside Peyton Manning, built this practice facility.
He's got a kid.
We are going to get him to our team.
And that was very feasible that that could have happened during draft night.
He goes number four overall, obviously, so he's not available at that point.
But what if Jim Irsay was so pissed that we didn't get Marv?
He's like, we need to get up there and get a weapon immediately.
I appreciate the fact that we're learning that Chris Powered went for it.
And I think Chris is appreciative that this got out,
that he was also trying to take a little bit of a hunt because it looks like he's at least active in this entire thing.
Yeah, because that was the whole narrative for Colts fans
kind of leading up to the season was like hey all these
great receivers are available like can we at least try to sign somebody or trade up and go get
somebody and they kind of they hadn't been doing it or there hadn't been any conversation that
they'd been doing it and at least knowing that he took a shot like they they were willing to give
away their two biggest assets in the draft and then a next year you know two at next year so like
if you're a colts fan you
got to feel good about that obviously you didn't get neighbors or you didn't get like one of the
elite elite guys but then you see what ad mitchell's doing too it's like okay so ballard he
kind of he he did hear what everyone was saying and he at least took a shot at it and then you
know if the if the offer is not good enough then the offer is not good enough yeah i like that
he's moving though yeah you know as a colts fan I like that he's trying to get up in there.
Yeah, picking up the phone.
And then you even think about, like, the offensive line.
Like, obviously, Joe Alt was taking the pick before.
But if they took, like, J.C. Latham, the guy from Bama who went to Tennessee who's been moving sleds and bodies like nobody else.
If they had Quentin Nelson, J.C. Latham, and then, obviously, Ryan Kelly,
and you got that tush-p push with Anthony Richardson from Steichen.
Jonathan Taylor.
Jonathan Taylor in the back.
Like even loading up the front would be incredible.
How do you feel about the tush push as a fullback running back?
That was bread and butter, man.
Kennesaw State, we used to do that all the time.
And just put your hands on the back of the quarterback and we're going.
We're going.
Moving.
We don't have another choice, right?
How do you feel about modern football the way it is?
A lot more – it seems like power games coming back.
I just – me personally, like I just don't –
I don't understand the cut blocking rule, like getting cut.
I mean, I'm sure there's some sort of science behind the amount of injuries
with knees and stuff with guys, but, I mean,
that was such a focal part of the game.
I just like, even the, even the five yard rule when Mike, my last year was, was fine.
Cause like we, we would still be able to like do what we were trying to get accomplished
in the triple option to run an option offense and stuff.
Cause that stuff is like, it's super important and having a successful offense, like with
that, you know, core, but you know, now that that you can't cut anymore, it's like...
You're pissed.
How do you...
I love a saw knee.
How do you run it?
You know what I mean?
Sometimes the size differentiation too,
like coming around the corner on the perimeter
and you've got to go block somebody that's 6'5".
I mean, that's how you do it.
So the response would be, the rebuttal would be,
they've also taken corners.
Cornerbacks are not allowed to cut offensive linemen
that are going out anymore.
So it's like a full,
they're trying to take that completely.
Yeah, but the science can say
whatever the science wants to say.
You know, the stats can say,
that's why we got a brand new kickoff this year.
We got a brand new kickoff this year that's going to be debuted tonight.
I'm excited to see how they cover it.
I'm excited to see where the camera angle is.
I'm excited to see how the conversation goes.
Obviously, the kicker's back here, just like we saw back in the day with the XFL.
I think there are a couple changes from the XFL and a couple changes from what used to be just a kickoff coverage drill in practice,
trying to save people's legs, where you moved.
This is Braun Breaker's first time, I think, seeing what this new kickoff is going to look like the ball has to land in the landing zone
if it does not land in the landing zone the ball goes to uh i believe the 40 if you kick it short
of the landing zone or out of bounds it goes to the 40 if you kick it uh into the landing zone
l is good ball starts if you kick a touchback ball comes out to the 30. And I think that's just what
teams are going to still do. I think they're still
just going to kick touchbacks. It was originally
pitched the ball was coming out to the 35
if there was a touchback. So they wanted more returns,
more returns, more returns. Then inevitably
to get the deal done, to get the rule in place,
they moved it back to the 30. From the
25 to the 30, I don't think it's a big enough jump.
If they would have kept that at the 35, I think teams
would have been scared of hitting touchbacks. So now I don't think is a big enough jump. If they would have kept that at the 35, I think teams would have been scared of hitting touchbacks.
So now I don't know how it's going to go.
They were predicting another 1,600 to 1,800 plays each season
because there will be more returns.
And there's obviously some conversations coming out of practices
with them working on these returns.
Throwbacks, I think somebody threw an interception on a throwback
because these two guys that are returners,
they're the only ones that are allowed to move before the snap,
before the ball is kicked.
Everybody else has to stay still until the ball is caught
or touched by somebody in the landing zone.
It's all new football, Bron.
And you seeing that for the first time was awesome.
That is the kickoff right there, Bron.
That is the new kickoff that is happening in the NFL debuts tonight.
Yeah, I don't know.
I mean, I was the wedge buster.
So, like, what's his job now?
Gone.
Gone.
Doesn't have one.
Sammy Zane is the one that put this together.
The five?
Right.
Yeah, like – that's unbelievable.
Let's see it.
Let's wait until we see it.
Let's wait until we see it, bro.
Let's give it a shot at least.
What's better than running down on kickoff at 100 miles an hour
and knocking someone on the – Nothing. That is football. Right? That's football. Yeah. it, bro. Let's give it a shot at least. What's better than running down on kickoff at 100 miles an hour and knocking someone
on the back?
Nothing.
That is football, right?
That's football.
Yeah.
Yeah.
They're like, they're killing our game.
They're taking our game.
They're taking our game.
No, but they obviously said that they had, like, this is something that has to happen
because what the kickoff had become because of people like you, by the way.
People like you who are the person that I would want on my –
I wouldn't let you know.
You are prime candidate one for my kickoff team.
If you would have been on the Colts,
if you would have came into a training camp with the Colts whenever I was there,
it would have been like, yeah, we are keeping little Steiner, and he is five.
He is our five.
And we are 4-4 Bulldog motherfucking hunt out there.
But that is – it is a whole new game.
So now everybody's trying to adjust, trying to create new strategy,
trying to figure out how it goes.
They were saying the injuries were getting too crazy, it was getting too wild,
and they just had to do something to save the kickoff as a whole.
The special teams coordinators allegedly came together,
agreed on this entire thing, and hopefully it goes well this year.
Because if not, they're talking about just starting at the 25, bro.
Just no kickoff at all.
Just start at the 25.
And then once you do that, do you get rid of pun punts do you get rid of special teamers as a whole that was like the fear that was kind of being put in place well that's what's
interesting is obviously the injuries are a massive part of this but then when they started
to roll it out uh troy vincent i think was the one who said like the kickoff is basically turned
into a ceremonial play and when we want to change it because we want to get these 1,600 to 1,800 more plays into the game
so that it's more exciting.
So if, like you're saying, if teams are just like, well, screw it.
We're good with teams starting at the 30-yard line.
We're not going to do this landing zone bullshit.
We're just going to kick touchbacks.
Then it goes right back to being just a ceremonial play.
And sure, you might not have as many injuries,
but then it kind of is counterintuitive to what they were trying to do.
The injuries were part of it, but they also
want the excitement of the kickoff back.
It's big tonight what happens with this.
Once again, this is just like XFL. These are not
NFL guys they're going to be.
We're not going to see many 4-3, 4-4 guys
back there. The big difference between when
the XFL did this is you had returners
that were running like 4-6, 4-7.
So not nearly as exciting. No offense to the XFL, even is you had returners that were running like 4-6, 4-7, okay? So not nearly as exciting.
No offense to the XFL, even though you shouldn't take offense.
You're disrespecting the NFL if you take any offense.
Same thing with the handball conference.
Not getting into it.
But tonight we're only going to see like four.
We're not going to see 4-3, 4-4 guys back there,
which is what I think we'll see during the season.
Because with the way that it's just one line, Braun, one line like this,
you get a guy 4-3, 4-4, breaks through, that's touchdown.
And that's what the NFL is hoping for is more of those, Braun.
Yeah, I mean, there probably will be more scoring in terms of kick return and stuff,
but I just am not.
Yeah, bummed out.
Hey, don't be bummed out.
We've got a big Saturday.
We've got a big Saturday. We got a big Saturday.
A man who could probably be kicking these kickoffs tonight and into the season,
but instead chose the professional soccer route.
Ladies and gentlemen, joining us now, captain of the U.S. men's soccer team.
A guy who opted to play pro soccer and go to an academy in Dallas
instead of going to Clemson to play soccer and football.
We're talking about an absolute stud.
And a man who has led this United States men's soccer team to the quarterfinals.
That's right.
We needed to after what just happened.
Yeah, big time.
And the Copa and everything else.
Ladies and gentlemen, Tanner Tessman.
What's up, guys?
Thanks for having me.
What an introduction.
Thank you.
Hey, you deserve it, brother.
The more we learned about you, the better it got.
You could have been a football guy.
I believe Dabo Sweeney, actual godfather in this entire thing.
Is that accurate?
Yes, sir.
You're right on.
So you're a football guy.
We love that.
Of course.
We absolutely love that.
How's the team?
How do we feel?
And did you guys feel a sense of pressure, not only because it's the Olympics and you're
representing the United States, but the way that men's soccer has been talked about in this country since the Copa.
Did you guys realize that, feel that?
And how is the team kind of going about business over there, Tanner?
No, yeah, we feel good.
We feel good.
I mean, we're hungry for the next game.
We play tomorrow against Morocco in the quarterfinal.
You know, the U.S. has never won a medal in soccer, so we're really going for it.
No, we didn't feel any pressure with, you know, Copa America is a totally different thing.
Obviously, I think it's an under-23 team with three overage players,
and most of the guys here want to be in that senior team.
So it's a good opportunity for us to showcase ourselves with that,
but obviously in front of the world as well.
And as an American, to be in the Olympics is a dream come true.
So everybody here is, you know, no pressure,
but definitely trying to show themselves and to play well.
I love that you guys are winning.
I love that it's like, hey, we've never won a medal either.
Is that the mission?
Is that the conversation coming from coach?
And who is coach of the team?
Marco Mitrovic.
He's our coach.
He's done a great job so far.
Yeah, the medal 100% is our goal.
I mean, we're going for gold.
We believe that we can compete with any team.
So we're focused on tomorrow.
Morocco's a good team and it'll be a tough game,
but we believe. Okay, so
coming out of high school,
soccer, football, and then you go
to the academy. And like, the
academies, I believe, you know
better than me, play in Syria, okay?
No big deal. Play in Syria, no big deal.
Italians know how to play. Yeah, they do.
The Italians.
We play in a soccer.
A lot of that.
Yeah, they do.
I'm 0.01% Italian,
so let them know.
It's soccer for sure, Tanner.
Let's not get crazy.
I understand you're playing in Italy,
but nonetheless,
the academies are kind of the conversation
that revolves around
on why the rest of the world
is potentially doing better at soccer than us
because these guys, their entire lives is basically we're doing soccer
in the morning then we're doing some class and we're doing soccer then we're doing some class
and we're doing some soccer then we're doing some class what are your thoughts on the state of the
united states of soccer the academy development we got the 14 year old in philly yep uh cav
cav's doing his thing it's like we're still in a good spot right because a lot of people think that
united states is about to completely fall off then we're watching you guys play it's like wait a minute then we got a 14 year old this play we're like wait a we're still in a good spot, right? Because a lot of people think that the United States is about to completely fall off. Then we're watching you guys play.
It's like, wait a minute.
Then we've got a 14-year-old that's playing.
We're like, wait a minute.
We're in a good spot?
You think catching up to everybody else?
Or what are your thoughts on it?
No, yeah, I think we're in a good spot.
I think, you know, how it works.
What I did was I moved to Dallas when I was 14, joined the academy, went to high school,
did everything, you know, like you say, class, soccer, class, soccer.
You said it like 100 times, but class, soccer, class, soccer uh did that and then uh signed homegrown with the with the mls team
and that's kind of like the route a lot of these guys um nowadays is signed homegrown we have a
i think like seven or eight nine homegrown players that went to the uh to the mls here so our
academies are doing a great job and uh we have players uh all over the world playing uh top
levels so i think it's more just
putting together a good team and having a good run in the tournament and people will open their
eyes but I mean we're definitely I mean we're not we're not a favorite in any tournament don't get
me wrong like we're not gonna go to the World Cup and be a favorite ever until I mean time goes down
but I think our best moments are when we play as a team and And I think as that, I mean, we can compete with anyone.
How long have you and the boys, thank you for all your answers here.
You're making us all smarter.
How long have you and this group been playing together?
And have you guys been playing together for a while?
Because I know like national team pools, national teams as teenagers, everything like that.
Has this team that we're seeing right now in the Olympics been together and played before?
Or is this our first time kind of experiencing it all?
So, I i mean we've
had i think six camps um over the past year and a half um obviously different names get called in
for those two three week camps and uh different faces and then with the overage players there's
three overage players walker sermon georgie mahovelich and miles robertson all three playing
the mls those guys walker was the only one to go to a camp before we
went to Paris, but Miles and Georgie, a bunch of these guys have played together in a senior team
camp or played against each other in MLS, so we're all familiar faces. We all know each other,
played against each other, played with each other in youth academies or in youth national team games
or senior team games, so yeah, it's definitely familiar faces, but we got together here about
two weeks ago in Bordeaux,
had a training camp for 10 days, and then started our game.
So, yeah.
We got a good crew.
We got a good team, huh?
We got good John.
We get along very well.
Yeah, we got some dudes, bro.
We got some dudes.
We got a good group.
I love that.
Connor has a question for you.
Yeah, Tanner, how has the Olympic Village been?
Has it been a positive experience?
Obviously, there's been, you know, drama with the beds and stuff like that and people saying that they're still made out of cardboard. Is that kind of how it is or
has it been more positive? And also are people still there or has it started to kind of thin
out because as the events have gone on, we're almost a week into this thing?
Yeah. So how soccer works in the Olympics is they have seven or six stadiums that we play in.
So our first two games were actually in Marseille. So we weren't in Paris at all. How soccer works in the Olympics is they have seven or six stadiums that we play in.
Our first two games were actually in Marseille, so we weren't in Paris at all.
Then our third game was in Saint-Étienne in a different stadium.
We're now playing in Paris tomorrow versus Morocco.
We've been around this stuff, but we stay in hotels.
We don't stay in the village at all.
None of us have been, I don't think.
I haven't really spoke to anyone that I know about anything about that, so sorry.
I won't be able to answer your questions, but yeah, we've been in totally different cities. We're finally
in Paris now. We're starting to feel a little bit of the vibe
seeing the Olympic ring in Paris 2024.
So, yeah. Are you guys playing Mario Kart?
What do we do in the off time?
Are we getting Toradol shots? That's what we did
for TST. When we were in the soccer
tournament down in Cary, North Carolina,
our off time was spent getting
tortle shots, getting rehydrated
with the IVs.
We had some Jersey Mike subs.
Smoking like six, seven cigars
a night in a circle outside
by the pool. What do you guys,
what does the off time look like in between games?
We don't smoke no cigars,
but we...
They were blunts, actually have a good time, man.
We have a good time.
We like to play cards, poker.
We have a little putting green thing that we do.
When we were in our pre-camp in Bordeaux, we were staying on a golf course,
so we played two, three rounds on the golf course on a couple of off days. We got a good golf group. Like we had 22 guys in the pre-camp
and 16 played golf. So we're pretty like dialed in golf. So yeah, I mean, we just have a good time
though. It's a good bonding experience. I love, yeah, the chemistry is a big deal. I don't think
people fully, because some of these foreign teams in all these sports have played together a long
time. I think Kevin Durant even mentioned that, like, hey, We're playing against teams that have been playing together since they're kids.
They've been playing together.
Chemistry is tough to build.
Sounds like we've got the right guy with the C on his chest.
Speaking of you, here before we have a hard out, Ty has a question for you.
Yeah, Tanner, how has it been being a young American playing in one of the premier leagues in the world?
It seems like we always hear about going to other countries.
They don't respect Americans. They kind of all treat us
like, oh, okay, yeah, this guy might be good over there,
but he's not shit over here.
How has that whole experience been, and do you
feel like the tide is kind of turning
a little bit on how other countries
perceive good young American players?
Yeah, I mean,
I think it's tough as an American in Europe in general.
I think any
foreigner has to go earn their respect in a new country, and I think it's tough as an American in Europe in general. I think any foreigner has to go earn their respect in a new country.
And I think it's no different for United States of America players.
Me going to Venice, going to Italy, I definitely had to earn my respect.
The first year was a really tough year for me and Gianluca Busio,
who was also an American on my team.
And, you know, we had to earn our respect the third year.
And we got promoted and we earned that respect.
So the fans love us now.
I mean, pretty easy to love when you get promoted.
So it's been a good past couple months, summer, and getting promoted.
Burnley's going this way.
Yeah, exactly.
Burnley wants to be like this.
Yeah, they do.
Venice, you own a boat?
You got a boat out there?
Is that how you get to and from?
I don't own my personal boat,
but that's definitely how you get to and from, boats's the number one transportation you're on a boat all the time
over there i mean yeah if you're in venice i mean you're on a boat or you're walking 30 minutes so
that's awesome no thanks like jet skis you got jet skis over there or anything
no just keys it's like uh it's like a nice it's like a car boat basically like you got a nice
indoor seating and like there's a driver who sits outside so it's like a car boat, basically. You've got a nice indoor seating, and there's a driver who sits outside, so it's like a good transportation.
And then they sing like,
When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie,
and I'm sorry.
We need to come watch your team sometime.
Absolutely.
Proud of you, buddy.
Keep going.
We appreciate you.
Thank you.
I appreciate it.
Appreciate you having me on.
Have a good team meeting.
Let the boys know, hey, let's go win this thing. Go get it. Eat it. Let's go win this thing. I appreciate it. Appreciate you having me on. Have a good team meeting. Let the boys know, hey,
let's go win this thing.
Let's go win this thing. Come on now.
You're the man, ladies and gentlemen. Tanner Testman.
Dude.
The boys get along. He's a football guy,
Bron. That's what I just heard.
Sounds like we're going to win gold this year, to be honest with you.
That's how we feel about everything.
It is. We say that about everything.
Team camaraderie, right?
Is Australia good? They suck. That's what I heard. That's how we feel about everything. It is. Yeah, we say that about everything. Team camaraderie, right? Yeah, unless Australia.
Is Australia good?
Are they in the...
Nah, they suck.
Oh, sorry about it.
You know, they were the ones that really were pumping up themselves
in the swimming category against the United States of America.
What happened?
Turns out it's France.
I was going to say, I haven't seen them on many podiums.
Yeah, in China.
Yeah, that guy.
World record last time.
Pond, yeah.
First time they've ever won, I think, a medal.
Yeah, and it was the 100 free.
And Phelps brought that up.
Obviously, the 50 is like a fastest sprint.
But the 100 is very similar.
It was an electric race.
World record, I'm pretty sure.
It's been fun to learn about all these people.
Yeah, truly.
I would like the United States to win all the time. At Desjardins,
we speak business.
We speak equipment modernization.
We're fluent in data digitization
and expansion into foreign markets.
And we can talk all day
about streamlining
manufacturing processes.
Because at Desjardins Business,
we speak the same language you do,
business.
So join the more than 400,000
Canadian entrepreneurs who already count on us and contact Desjardins today we'd love
to talk business we can't thank you enough for joining us on this glorious
Thursday happy anniversary to my wife we've been married for four years hey
four years the whole years the whole high school
at college college yeah you name it yeah that's two junior highs oh my god that's a long time
uh i've enjoyed every minute obviously and we're going to be celebrating that this evening
as we watch the nfl hall of fame game and officially kick off this particular football
season with monday night football on the coverage We can't wait to hear Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, the entire kickoff crew, and really get the
feeling that football is all the way back.
College is just 23 days away.
That's going to be in Ireland, I do believe.
Georgia Tech, Florida State.
We're going to be lucky to be there.
And then the NFL is 35, exactly five weeks away.
Officially. So we're here. Let's enjoy it.
The Talks at the Table is also here.
At Boston Conner and at Ty Schmidt.
A man who puts out great bets.
Oh yeah. On Hammer.
Coastal elitist Bruce Brown. How you doing, pal?
How you doing? I'm good, Bruce.
Watching the Olympics. We got the Hall of Fame game.
Everything's great. How are you doing?
That was crazy. That was great. How are you doing? That's crazy.
That was crazy.
How you doing?
How you doing?
How are you doing, Bruce?
No, no, no.
Good to see you again, Bruce.
How are you doing?
I'm great.
I'm fired up for this Hall of Fame.
Hell yeah.
There we go.
There we go.
Yeah, Bruce.
How are you, Bruce?
All right, Bruce.
Texans favored by one and a half.
I know you make a part of your living is giving bad bets on Hammer.
Dad.
What are your thoughts on the Hall of Fame game tonight?
How should we be looking at it?
It moved a point against the Texans.
So it was two and a half.
Now it's one and a half.
That makes me feel a little squirrely about the Bears.
I also do fancy the Bayton of Change for what looks like a full half.
And then they got a rookie out of Western Kentucky rounding it out.
So I lean towards the Bears,
but I know that my hammer-down counterparts feel differently.
Well, the only reason why we feel differently
is because we've seen Case Keenum, and obviously we've seen Dougie Mills.
Dougie Mills was at one time in a conversation like,
should he be the starter over CJ?
And then obviously we see what CJ does, and it's like, no, he should not.
Nobody should have been in that conversation with CJ.
But he's played real meaningful minutes, real meaningful ball,
as has Case Keenum, who seems to be 55 years old.
He's going to be in a Hall of Fame preseason game
with nobody really on the field that is going to end up
in either of these rosters, maybe other rosters.
But, you know, this Hall of Fame game is where we're not trying to get hurt.
We are here very early.
This game is a celebration of what has been.
We don't need it to be a morning of what is.
Let's just go ahead and get through this and get to the next step
of this entire preseason process.
But whenever you think about those two guys, who are they playing with, though?
Yeah.
Like, does it matter if Dougie Mills is good if your wire series have no idea
where they're supposed to go?
Well, I guess we could also find out who the coaching staffs are potentially
pissed off at because if you remember a couple years ago,
Josh Jacobs basically got 25 carries and played three quarters in the hall of fame game he was he was the leading rusher
in the nfl the year before that so shout out josh mcdaniels by the way yeah you're letting josh
jacobs know hey it's my team get your ass out there hall of fame game yeah nobody's playing
except for oh josh jacobs that could be robert woods he could be on on the bubble for the texans
so he might see some action john me Mechie, too, might play.
Okay, we like that.
Here we go.
How you doing?
Pretty good.
Pretty good.
Shout out to Enzo.
Speaking of Enzo, ladies and gentlemen, this weekend is SummerSlam.
And it's a stat card in Cleveland.
Loaded.
Top to bottom.
In front of the dog pond, there will be a card that will have titles on the line.
That will have megastars on the card.
There will be moments that will be remembered for the rest of the WWE's existence,
which is forever.
Because then, now, forever.
One of them, I believe, and the boys believe,
and I have to be non-biased because I'll be on the call luckily to be there,
and I am a massive Sammy Zane fan but in a documentary of this human that we're
about to introduce this will be a celebrated moment because this will be the first time
we think Sammy obviously has defied the odds and has been fantastic and we love Sammy well
I love Sammy Zane I'm a big fan Sammy Zane and friends can't wait to go to the show.
I'm a big fan. But I believe there's a rocket ship on somebody for good reason.
You don't just fall to the top of the mountain. No, no, no.
You got to climb up it
like a damn dog. Ladies and gentlemen,
fighting for the Intercontinental title on Saturday.
Joining us live from the Thunderdome,
Brown Breaker.
Yeah!
How do you feel about the barking? How do you feel about the barking? Brown Breaker. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,
How do you feel about the barking?
How do you feel about the barking?
I love it, man.
It's my stick.
I've been a dog ever since I can remember.
I thought that's the most fitting way to go.
Yeah, because some people watching think maybe, are they booing?
No, no, no.
I'm barking.
That entire place, she's barking.
The dogs are barking in Interd City here.
Even if you're supposed to be suspended from the arena.
Remember, you've been kicked out of an arena.
I do whatever the hell I want, right?
I mean, Adam, I paid my fines.
Of course.
Gentlemen.
I've paid the fines.
Gentlemen, businessmen.
I handle my business.
But as far as physicality on site, I'm doing whatever the hell I want.
I'll just pay for the fine later.
Yeah, anybody can get it too.
Legitimately, anybody can get it.
And this Adam Pierce guy, what are your thoughts on him?
Just so we can get the raw general manager.
His name's Adam Pierce.
He's a massive Green Bay Packers fan.
Massive Green Bay Packers fan.
Shout out.
I've obviously.
I would say.
Let's save the shout out
and the mark.
I mean,
there's two different reactions
from the talk show table.
Braun,
what are your thoughts
on Adam Pearce?
Because obviously
your relationship with him
has been contentious.
He's gotten in your face.
He took his glasses off
a couple of times.
He's kicked you out of a building.
He's done a lot of things to you.
You're handling it
much better than I would.
Yeah, right.
Just want to let you know.
What are your thoughts on that?
I don't know.
You put it great
like every week, right?
Bold Stooge.
I mean, that's... Bold Stooge, it great every week, right? Bold Stooge.
Bold Stooge, yeah.
He is a bold, bold Stooge.
Bold, bold, absolutely.
Yeah, he is.
Yeah, that's the best way to put it, I think.
Great guy, probably, right?
No, we don't know.
Guy stinks.
Yeah, we don't know about him.
He's the manager on Raw, correct?
Why do you have a blue tie on on Monday?
Yeah, especially going into SummerSlam.
That's a dipshit move, I'm just going to say. He was just a couple moments away from the West St. Paul Armory, too,
where he was obviously once a champion, and then he shows up at Raw,
and he does the whole deep thought glasses move.
It's a Paul Boone.
And he's got a blue tie on, one in that Raw in red.
What are we doing?
Exactly.
That's what I'm saying.
And he had a blue chip thing, whatever the hell this thing is.
Does he even want you to succeed?
I don't know. Does he even want you to succeed? I don't know.
Does he even want you to succeed?
Yeah, exactly.
He's the general manager for SmackDown.
He's trying to take his stick.
Yeah, what is the – I believe that he's potentially, you know,
trying to hold you – these Pierce can't hold you back.
You need to know that.
Yeah.
You need to know that about Pierce.
You know what?
Tune in to Monday Night Raw every single week
and watch the progress that Adam Pearce
has made while holding me back at the same time
I mean, it's non-existent
Way to go, Stooge
Joining us now live
from Manatee, Ohio is a man who's not a Stooge at all
This guy's a college football national champion
a Super Bowl champion, Ryder Cup winner
Some would say he is an absolute
dog of a human being
Former president of Ohio,
A.J. Hawke. Hawker, how you doing, pal? I'll tell you what, man. I watch Bronze Highlight
tape all day long. I'm showing that to my kids on how to finish runs, how to be physical,
how to run hard. Like, hey, you think you're playing hard, and then watch this guy. Like,
credit to you, man. This is awesome to watch. Yeah, and Ilya Dragunov says,
I'm not intense.
I am intensity.
It's like that pops through the screen there.
That guy running the ball, okay, is an intense physical specimen.
Out of the back of the end zone.
Eyes to the sky.
If there's no Jumbotron, he has no idea if he scored a touchdown yet
because he's looking straight up into the air.
That is why he ends up in the stands because that's the first thing that touches him and tells him all the way
out the back every time huh is that we're finishing the play well it was a loaf like if i didn't do
that so i just didn't you know no lows effort yeah man effort attitude and toughness is our
this that's my motto that's what i'm built on man that's That's what Kennesaw State is. That's our core values. I mean, that stuff was real.
If I got hawked and it was a loaf, I got caught.
We call them efforts, and I had to run for those.
We're not running more.
Who wants to run Monday morning?
You know what I mean?
Right after coming off of the weekend.
Who's the coach?
Brian Bohannon.
Legend? Legend Bohannon. Legend?
Legend, man.
He started – he played for Georgia.
And then I want to say before us, he coached at Tech.
And then he's been the head coach at Kennesaw State for, I want to say,
seven or eight years now.
But this is the first year that Kennesaw is going into FBS, actually.
He made the move to Conference USA.
So big stuff coming to Kennesaw.
Effort, attitude, and toughness?
Effort, attitude, toughness, man. Spells eat.
You dropped that in a promo the
other day. You were like, this dog's
going to eat or something. It's like effort, attitude,
and toughness and then you dropped it in with the dog and the
eating. I'm like, yo, this is a...
It's almost like, isn't it? It's almost like it's too
perfect. It's like the universe is coming together.
You know what that means for Saturday?
In the dog pound. Yep, dog's gotta eat.
Bad days to be
Sammy Zane. But Sammy Zane's
faced tough odds before. Yeah.
He's eluded. WrestleMania has happened
before because Sammy Zane has accomplished
and done so many things, but
dog's gotta eat. Yep. In dog pound.
Come on. Almost sounds too
metal-y almost. Sorry, Zane.
Live from Hammer.
Todd.
Todd.
With an Olympic update.
Ladies and gentlemen, Tone Day.
Yeah, before we get to the early correction on my part, okay?
I was unaware of the rule that you can only have two gymnasts in the all-around final.
So Jordan Childs is not in the all-around final.
Even though she qualified fourth, she is not because you can only send two.
That's kind of bullshit for Childs.
A little bit.
Yes.
I mean, that's what happens when you're part of the greatest country in the entire world.
Oh, this is like a San Francisco 49ers situation.
Exactly.
Too good.
Too good.
Too good.
Yeah, you're right, AJ.
That's what I'm saying.
Simone started great on the vault, and then she went to the bars, and there was a bit
of a slip-up in the Brazilian Andrade.
Not the WWE superstar.
Andrade?
Yeah, not the WWE superstar.
Okay.
He was on speed last week.
Did he win speed?
He tied Ilya.
Oh.
They tied that day.
Time ran out.
Because it's a three minute match.
We need speed.
And then it got to three minutes
and neither of them could win.
They were too tough.
Needed more speed.
They needed more speed, more time.
I wish you had more time is really the entire.
And speed.
And speed, yeah.
Well, speed.
If you have more speed, you have less time.
You need less time.
Sure.
But more speed, more time.
They go hand-in-hand, especially with WWE.
Speed.
Go ahead, Mr. Corrections.
That was perfect. I can't
correct any of that. So Andrade
and Simone are battling it out right now.
Suni Lee still got her best of heads
to go, so we got a lot left, but
early... Why aren't you on
WWE? Speed!
If we're talking about speed
in WWE,
people should speak Braun Breaker.
Yeah.
Well said.
I don't know.
I mean, yeah, double speed.
Exactly.
Yeah.
What are we even doing down in speed without Braun Breaker 24 miles an hour off the ropes as fast as possible?
That's real speed.
I don't know.
Andrade's the
speed champion right now.
Correct? We don't know.
He could be.
It's probably Pierce.
Pierce is probably holding it up.
I don't know. There's just no way this guy's
running as fast as me, moving as
fast as me, doing anything as fast as me.
It's the definition of speed or kicking someone's ass as fast as I can do it.
Boom.
Boom.
So as far as I'm concerned, I'm the king of speed.
Love that.
Amen.
Back to you, Tony.
That's a matter of fact right there.
I like that.
Let's get him a speed belt.
Please.
I'd love to.
Title, sorry.
Belt's on up your pants.
But when you're running with real speed, you are going to need a belt
because those pants come flying off.
Yeah, all right.
Ron, where were you running those highlights, like 4-2-5?
Well, not probably at that time, but I ran like high 4-2s
when I was training for the combine and stuff.
Jeez.
That's speed.
Ladies and gentlemen.
Stop, watch, stop, watch, stop, watch.
Ladies and gentlemen, we got him.
Four twos.
Come on.
Right now, we're built the way he is.
What's your high school tape like?
Can you imagine what it's like him playing against high school kids?
How did that go?
I mean, it's out there.
I mean, I've got – I was a linebacker.
Were you ever tackled?
Were you ever tackled?
In high school?
Yeah.
Yeah, by eight guys.
I played 6A ball, so I played against other guys that were like going D1.
There's a lot of guys.
There's some people from that county that are still in the leagues.
Where at?
Like Cherokee County, North Georgia.
Okay.
Georgia.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, it was the highest classification is what we played.
So, I mean, it was tough, man.
It was a lot of dudes.
A lot of dudes that were.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's it.
I got a flag for targeting right here in the very first play.
Yeah. I didn't really give a shit.
I just wanted people to see how violent of a player that I was.
Hey, that's brawn breaker football.
Yeah, man.
At first, this is the first highlight.
Oh, no.
First highlight of the highlight video.
Oh, yeah.
This is me.
Yeah.
What?
Come on.
That's football.
I didn't know Georgia football was throwing flags for that age.
Hey, did you know? This is high school. I mean, you Georgia football was throwing flags for that age.
Did you know?
This is high school.
I mean, you got some athletes out there, though.
These are players.
Really good flashing camera.
Two on the side there.
Bron Breaker filling a hole.
Get ready, Sammy.
Get ready.
I've been doing this spear thing a long time.
Yeah.
There it was.
We saw that. Playing him in the ground.
Can you still do that in high school?
Can you land on top and play him still?
This was five years ago?
This is 2015.
Yeah, nine years ago.
Wow.
Are you barking there?
Have we started the bark yet?
I was just letting him know.
Give me a long night.
God, I love high school tapes, man.
I feel like I used to just go into games.
Oh!
The intended receiver. Oh! I can't.
The intended receiver.
Oh!
Okay.
All right.
All right.
Anyways.
Anyways.
Ladies and gentlemen, we got it.
Okay.
Ladies and gentlemen, we got it.
Sorry about that.
High school football.
Once you start seeing people fly around recklessly, and then there's like three guys on each team
that are certainly much better than everybody else, and then there's some highlights that
can really get cooking.
Not everywhere, obviously.
There's some packed teams, stacked teams.
But in some high school, most high school football,
there's two to three guys on each team.
And it's like, let's just keep eyes on what's going on back there.
And then let's move it.
A.J. Hawk had 74 tackles in one game in high school.
Yeah, I've seen his.
He's a stud.
He's been.
How many was it, A.J., actually?
No, I don't know.
It was 35.
30? 35? 35?'t know. It was 35. 35?
35?
Hold on.
That's insane.
Then he rushed for like 150.
Yep.
Both ways.
Rushed for 150.
He had like three touchdowns.
And then he punted.
He scored the touchdowns in Zachland.
And then he punted.
And he punted, too.
He had like two punts.
That's what we're talking about.
Look at this dipshit.
All in the same game?
Yes.
One game.
That's insane, dude.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, my linebacker coach was the one counting tackles,
so I'm sure he padded my stats.
Shut up.
Shut up.
Over 30 tackles.
35 actually documented.
It's a record.
Elite.
Yeah, that's got to be some sort of record.
Oh, never mind.
Not 35.
Oh.
Oh, no.
Only 31.
Three times.
He had 31 tackles three times for the semifinal.
They ran the ball 60 times at us.
Oh, okay.
Got more solo.
Half the time.
Yeah, I'm making the tag.
That's what I was talking about.
Let's go back to my original statement about high school football.
There's two to three guys on each team.
Yeah.
And it's like they're everywhere.
That happened to be this Ohio fuck here.
His teammates was mangled. So he was probably. Nuge. Yeah, N be this Ohio fuck here. He's teammates with Mangold.
So he was probably...
I couldn't even...
Centerville is
back.
All the way.
Speaking of back, let's go to
Hammer. Todd!
Can you give us some updates on the Olympics, please?
And let's not get off track here, Tom. Please, we need
the updates. I feel like that wasn't on me.
It could have been.
It was probably Braun's fault for being so speedy.
To be honest.
All right.
Too far to go, Braun.
But no, right now, pretty much all we got going on is the women's all-around.
Any Guinea teams in there?
That is the country of Guinea we were asking about.
We learned about them.
Take me off the screen.
I don't want to be part of this.
You're the one that introduced the country
to us. What are you doing,
Foxy? Foxy's just a little
digs his puppet out there.
He's the one that introduced this thing.
Foxy, you felt bad?
I didn't say it. I don't want to be a part of
Connor's racial prejudice. This isn't racial
prejudice. Talk about the Olympics. Talk about a country
in the Olympics, damn it. I, too,
share the horn. You know what he's doing.
No.
I share the horn.
Checking in on Guinea.
Yeah, that's what we're wondering.
We just learned about it.
I don't need you to be a part of this either.
I care about Guinea, too.
It's a country.
We did not know that.
I don't think they're in the Olympics anymore.
What?
There's no...
They kicked Guinea out?
I can't believe they're kicking Guinea out.
What the hell?
Can't do that. There's others that could be kicked out. Yeah,'t believe they're kicking Guinea out. What the hell? Can't do that.
There's others that could be kicked out.
Yeah, plenty.
The soccer team is out, I'm pretty sure.
They play other sports.
Guinea only brought soccer players?
I think so.
I don't know.
Braun, I don't know if you know this.
There's three different countries that have the word Guinea in it.
We, growing up as dumb Americans, only knew of Papa New Guinea.
Correct.
There's actually a country called just Guinea.
Just Guinea.
Papa New Guinea.
And then something else.
And Connor really loves the country of Guinea because he just learned about it literally two days ago.
A big Guinea supporter.
So we just learned of their country.
Is that something that should be cast aside?
I don't know why.
So is Coach Diggs, by the way.
Yeah, Coach Diggs.
I saw him. He's flexing. Yeah, he was doing this one right here. Yeah, cast aside. I don't know why. So is Coach Diggs, by the way. Yeah, Coach Diggs. I saw him.
He's flexing.
Yeah, he was doing this one right here.
Yeah, he did.
I saw it.
I watched him do it.
He had the chains and everything.
He's a huge guinea guy.
He just learned of them as well.
He's gone all in.
Anyways, Tony, sorry.
Let's get back to Olympic updates, not just countries that aren't in the Olympics.
Let's talk about the countries that are still in the Olympics.
What's going on in that gymnastics?
Last we heard Simone, it was just moments. What is
going on with gymnastics?
Suni just dominated on the bars and now she's got
beam coming up. Those are her two best events.
And Simone and Andrade
are still battling out. And Simone's still got the floor
left and beam, which are two obvious.
Simone's dominated all events, so let's not
listen. Right now, it
seems like it's going to be a battle between Andrade,
Simone, and then Suni Lee for all three of those guys.
Okay, and we love that.
Yeah, we do.
We love when America goes 1-2.
You know, America went 1-2 in a swim race the other day.
Was it Walsh and Husk?
I think so.
Walsh and Husk went 1-2.
And then they raced yesterday, I think, in something.
I think it was 200.
Walsh, Husk, we didn't even, it's wild how these games work.
It is.
Because, like, we're seeing some people swim real fast and then, like, maybe not as fast the next time.
And then we learn of, like, this, some of these swimmers are built like some of these horses where if you just get them in front, their time, they don't, the time doesn't really matter.
The time is what it needs to be.
It's interesting.
It's a fascinating
little mental is the pool deep enough or then that's 2.3 meters is the uh pool currently a lot
of turbulence out there supposed to be three meters like uh every olympic games has been since
2000 2000 what's that how does that happen how does that happen well allegedly from the video
that we saw there's an american broadcaster who's been calling the olympic swimming races for like 40 years let's say 40 years
so they say the thing that slows these swimmers down is obviously turbulent watcher so turbulence
water is a reason that these people slow down so he was saying the reason why we're not seeing a
lot of world records we're seeing the olympic records we're not seeing world records like we
do every single other year is because the turbulence that is in the pool is more than the previous like five
olympics whenever the entire swimming community came to an agreement that we're going to make it
three meters deep because the turbulence is coming off the bottom of the wall off the pool so it used
to be two meters so then there would be ripple effects from the swimmers especially whenever
you go down off the bottom so you don't have clear water. You don't have smooth water. You have a lot of
turbulence in the water. A lot of chop.
Chop in the water. So they all agreed
seemingly like four Olympics ago,
I think, five Olympics ago, we're going to make that
pool three meters deep, so then we
add an extra 50% depth, and then you start
seeing world records happen. Now, was it
the swimmers or was it the pool? I guess that will be
debated forever, but
now all of a sudden it's 2.3 meters.
The arena in France made that ruling.
Do you know why?
Why is that?
Allegedly, if they dug any deeper,
then the poop water would seep into those pools.
We don't know if that's true.
He's the corrections guy.
Could be that.
We don't know if that's true.
If it rains heavy.
So the 2.3 meters pool,
the depth of the pool is obviously more shallow than it has been.
But then they also have more cameras on the bottom of the pool than they've ever had before, they're saying.
So would it have mattered if they're at three meters with all the cameras?
But he was hypothesizing that this is probably a reason why we're not seeing as many world records because swimmers get faster.
That's why you see Olympic records.
Like things get more honed in.
You get better. Bum, bum, bum. It's been that way forever. swimmers get faster. That's why you see Olympic records. Things get more honed in. You get better.
It's been that way forever.
Records get broken. That's why Phelps is very cool
with Marchand doing his thing because that's literally
what swimming records happen.
People get faster in the pool.
This year it hasn't been happening. Olympic records have been happening.
World records haven't been happening.
I guess it's the depth of the pool. Too much turbulence in the water.
Was Marchand getting ready
on a 2.3 meter pool? Is he ready
for the turbulence? Yeah.
Was he preppy to information?
Yeah, we don't know. How's the French basketball team doing?
Are they still got the refs on their side?
I don't think they've played since Japan, but
yeah, they do.
That was a make-up call, too.
Japan got a four-point play.
And then going back, they gave one to France
just out of pity. Japan's was legit, though. Yeah. Real foul. Actual foul. To got a four-point play. And then going back, they gave one to France just out of pity. Japan's was legit, though.
Yeah. Real foul.
Actual foul. To go up four.
Because makeup would be for, like, we fucked up, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I guess they're just calling
any contact on the
perimeter. The FIBA rules are interesting because it's physical,
but then, like, sometimes not.
Not as physical as Jimmer for debt, but...
Jimmer for debt had to get worked on. I saw him.
He pulled groin, I believe.
He did groin.
I think he got it.
Did they make three-on-three in Olympic sport for Jimmer Fredette?
Well, that's kind of what I was told going into a three-on-three game.
And then I watched, and Jimmer Fredette had a sweet finger roll layup.
But other than that, we lost.
Yeah, I saw him miss a finger roll layup, too.
But it's tough.
There's only two other teammates.
Hold his groin.
It sounds like they created three-on-three and added a bunch of stipulations
so that we could get embarrassed.
And I'll tell you what, we'll learn from that.
Just like failure is the greatest
lesson. Ain't that right, Bron?
He's the way to grow.
Thank you, Tone. Way to go, Tone.
We're expecting a little bit more info next time.
Factual info.
Joining us now is a man who has all the facts.
All the inside deeds.
Front of the program, he was obviously on earlier this week,
but the first game of the season is kicking off tonight.
Have to have him on.
Senior insider for ESPN, ladies and gentlemen, Adam Schefter.
What's going on, guys?
How jacked up are you, huh?
Getting back with the team.
We got the kickoff show.
We got Monday Night Countdown.
Then we got Monday Night Football.
Football's back on the field wearing NFL helmets.
Let's go, Schefter.
It's a glorious day.
It's like the first day of school, Pat.
We're going up.
We're going to meet our new classmates like Jason Kelsey,
say hello to him, welcome him to the set,
be a big night at ESPN, go on there.
And, hey, it's been a big day in the National Football League,
and we'll continue tonight with the first game
between the Texans and the Bears.
Big day in the National Football League.
Tell me more.
Well, anytime you get a guy
that becomes the highest paid offensive lineman
in National Football League history,
in Tristan Wirfs, that's a big day, right?
The Buccaneers set out this offseason,
and they managed to re-sign Tristan Wirfs
and Baker Mayfield and Mike Evans
and Antoine Winfield and Labonte David.
They kept all their guys, their core guys.
So they've done a great job keeping everybody together.
And Tristan Wirfs resets the tackle market.
They get them locked in through the 2029 season.
He's been a great player for them for a while.
That's a big move.
Great work by Mike Greenberg, Jason Light, Bull, everybody down there.
Congratulations to the Buccaneers getting
their team back and getting this deal
done. Now for the Werfs deal, shout out to
Kirk's Dogs, obviously. Go Hawks.
Our sources
were telling us that it was
a guaranteed money issue that they were disputing
over. Do we know what the guaranteed money is
and how did this deal ultimately get done?
Well, the guaranteed
money is $84.2 million.
So they had something of a breakthrough last night.
I'm sure it did involve some of the guaranteed money involved.
And when you get the guaranteed money over $84 million,
and you're talking about an average of, what, 27-1 a season or whatever that is,
like, how are you not doing that deal right now?
And I think Tristan Wirth gets the money he wants, the guarantees he wants.
That's his win.
Tampa Bay locks him in for the extra year on the extension.
That's the Buccaneers' win.
And so, yeah, again, that's a big move for the Buccaneers' franchise.
Michael Lombardi was on the other day, and he's like,
Tristan Wirfs, yeah, we figured out how to get that deal done with Tristan Wirfs.
Other people, you've got to kind of tear this entire thing
because he was talking about Trent Williams, which leads to San Francisco.
Go ahead, Ty.
Yeah, Shepty, we saw a video yesterday that showed Brandon Aiyuk
kind of dapping up John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan,
and I think most people speculated like, oh, okay,
they must have reached some sort of agreement.
We're going to see him back on the field.
Then other people are saying, hey, maybe this is like a, hey, thanks for everything you've done.
This guy's getting traded kind of DAP up.
Oh, I didn't see that.
Yeah, I saw a little bit of that as well.
Do we have any updates in the whole Brandon Ayuk situation?
Good DAP here with Lynch.
Hey, how you doing?
Good to see you.
This one was Shanahan.
This one was Shanahan though, Shefty.
This one, hey, almost a heard-the-good-news dap up right there.
But we're just reading from very, very, literally 1,000-plus miles away
we are reading this from.
Yeah, well, basically there's no new deal there.
And, you know, again, they've had a really hard time working out a deal
between the Niners and Brandon Iyuk.
And they've continued talking, but they just haven't made a lot of progress.
So I think that's probably a little bit.
They haven't made a lot of progress,
so it's probably a little bit discouraging to both right now
to try to get that done.
And so it wasn't a thank you for taking care of me kind of message.
That's what you're saying.
Okay, we misread the situation completely then
because from what it was just a few days back at training camp where he showed up in a white shirt
with the backpack uh do rag flailing a towel and he talks to lynch and then he kind of just exits
the field you know we're like okay that doesn't seem to be great and then the dap up and deposit
we're like okay maybe that's good but you, no, there's no new development. They're just getting back on better terms, seemingly. You know, I think it's
a case where sometimes you wake up and you feel happy and you're in a good mood. And sometimes
you wake up and you're not so happy. And I think that's what this is a case of. And I think people
are reading too much into that and trying to ascertain that there's a meaning behind this
message when there's not.
It's just not what's happening in that particular video.
A lot of people saying, oh, they worked out a deal, they worked out a trade at that moment.
No, that's not the case.
And again, that situation is still unresolved, still tenuous,
and still needs to come to a head one way or another.
Okay, we'll put that on the ticker for sure.
Go ahead, AJ.
Hey, what about Trent Williams? We haven't seen him out there walking around talking to anybody.
Are they going to get it done?
When do they get this done?
What do you think it might look like when they extend him
or give him more guarantee?
You know, the tricky part about this one is you're talking about a guy
that's as dominant as any offensive tackle in all of football.
He's been great.
He's been unbelievably so good.
Future Hall of Famer.
He's also 36 years old, and he's got, I believe, two years left on his contract. And so these offensive linemen, their value is huge. Immense work. And the Niners know it, but they're also in a situation where, again, I think that they've gone and paid Trent Williams a couple of different times and he's 36. You have to balance. How do you do that? How do you figure out a way to keep him happy and keep your salary cap situation intact
at a time when you know the Brock Purdy extension is coming down the pike after the season?
You got Brandon Ayuk who wants his money.
You're paying these other guys.
So it's a challenging situation that they have not yet figured out.
situation that they have not yet figured.
The matter is, you know, Trent Williams not being in camp as an older guy, no problem.
Like take a couple of weeks off as we try to figure this out and let's get
this. Let's see if we can figure this out at a later date.
But the fact that he's missing camp right now, that may be a bonus,
not a drawback.
Okay. I love the spins on there.
It's good news that he's not with the team.
And I assume Trent is also feeling the exact same way.
I'll get to relax a little bit.
I don't know if they do camp anywhere where you got to stay in a hotel or a dorm.
Trent gets to stay up in that, you know, thousand thread as he's earned all of it.
And he's considered goat by a lot of people.
So if he sees what Tristan Wirfs just went for, right,
it seems like now there's a whole new conversation that could potentially take place.
And the Niners know they need to get the deal done.
Sounds like they will.
Let's stick in a contract dispute conversation with Bruce Brown.
Yeah, Schefter, Matt Judon back at practice today.
Are there any adjustments to his contract?
Any new details there?
Or is he just kind of back to work with his contract as is?
It has not been adjusted yet.
The two sides continue to try to work on that to see if they can figure out
if something is going to happen.
I think the fact that they're going over scenarios to see if they can figure out
a way to work it out, but there are issues that remain between the two sides.
There's not an agreement.
Obviously, I think it's a gesture of goodwill, faith, by Judon to return to practice
because when you're not practicing, it becomes a distraction.
It becomes an issue.
It becomes something that everybody's talking about.
But we all know that he would like his deal adjusted.
We know, I think, that New England would like to adjust it.
So now it's up to these two sides to figure it out. But they're going to try to figure it out while he's back his deal adjusted. We know, I think, that New England would like to adjust it, so now it's up to these two sides to figure it out,
but they're going to try to figure it out while he's back at practice now.
Coach Mayo, obviously, was seen talking to him the other day,
and there was a lot of conversation about him telling Judon,
like, hey, you can't be out here if you're just going to be sitting down.
You've got to get off the field.
And Coach Mayo's running a much different operation
than Bill Belichick has in the past.
We saw him on a TikTok.
Yeah.
Perfect. Nailed it.
Nailed it.
Absolutely nailed it with Kay Adams in the TikTok world.
So he is running a different ship.
But this conversation, I think a lot of Patriots fans appreciated,
a lot of other people.
Former player, but still, you know, this is a tough situation.
This is a tough conversation to have.
He's had a lot of friends that have probably felt similarly
to how Judon has felt.
He's been a player. He's been there before.
Allegedly, he sent him off the field here.
Is that what happened?
And also, how is the team around Coach Mayo here for the first week of him,
first week and a half of him being a head coach in the NFL?
You're asking about Coach Mayo in New England?
Is that what you're saying?
Yes, sir.
Listen, that's a guy that's beloved and respected by his players.
And I wouldn't be surprised if that's part of the reason that Drew Dunn's back at practice
because you want to perform for a guy like that,
and you don't want to have any issues that are outstanding like that.
So, look, he's back there.
They're going to continue to try to work it out.
But Gerard Mayo is one of those guys that the players really like,
and I'm sure that they're going to do everything they can to make him look good.
Hey, they call him Belichick, you know, young Belichick out there,
but he's running it differently.
I mean, that TikTok was phenomenal.
He's spot on, the timing.
Yeah, I decided not to watch it.
I've seen these people try these TikToks before
where they try to voice over a scene or a song, and they're off.
You know, they can't get it, no matter how he takes it.
Coach Mayo was spot on.
Didn't he, AJ?
You saw it.
Yeah, Conor should watch this.
I think Conor should watch.
Yeah, he nailed it. I'm Yeah, Conor should watch this. I think Conor should watch. Yeah.
He nailed it.
I'm going to focus on the football part,
but also with another guy who was kind of not holding out
but wanted a new contract who was Rosenhaus' guy.
I forget who was on the mention.
Maybe it was you, Schefter.
But God shall.
He just got a new deal as well.
But, Schefter, we saw either last night or two nights ago
the Giants getting calls during the draft.
And I know that you know exactly who the Colts and the Jets were calling the Giants to try
and trade up for.
Who were those guys?
Who were they?
Yeah, just tell us who they were.
Who was it?
We know the Colts got the guy they wanted and the Jets got the guy they wanted.
But who were they trying to trade up to get into that sixth spot?
Well, the Colts, I believe, were really interested in Brock Bowers.
There were two teams that attempted to go up in the draft to try to go get Brock Bowers,
and that was the Colts and the Rams.
Both teams were trying to get up there to get Bowers, and they couldn't do it.
They kept trying and it just didn't happen.
So I think that was a player that interested both those franchises.
And the Jets, I think, had some interest in moving up for Roma Dunzey,
but they loved Fashanu and had no problem staying where they were and taking him.
So, again, they weren't willing to pay through the nose to move up.
They would have loved to have added a guy like Roma Dunzey at that point in time.
But the fact of the matter is they were very happy staying where they were to get to Sean O.
Do you think that trade-up from the Colts was because
Jim Irsay said, we missed out on Junior?
We missed out on Marvin Harrison Jr.?
We need to do something, Chris.
We need to do something.
Word out of camp?
Lay out to a lot to?
Yeah.
Dog.
Dog.
Junkyard.
Very, very pumped about the Indianapolis Colts, obviously.
And they need him with the injury to Samson Ekubom, obviously.
So he's out for the year with the torn Achilles, right?
So these things sometimes work out how they should.
And teams are a little bit leery about giving up too much to get up sometimes.
That's a perfect example.
You get Liatu where they are, and they're going to really need that guy right now this year.
And certainly that seems like it'd be more useful than a great tight end.
But great players are great players.
And Chris Ballard knows talent as well as anybody.
And obviously he had a real interest in Brock Bowers.
It didn't happen.
They stayed where they were, and I think they were happy to get the player they did.
Would have been sick to get Brock Bowers, obviously,
just because everything we know about him.
When you talk about a dog, he used to train by running up hills in wine country,
like sprinting up these woods.
He's like old school throwback football player
who's obviously immensely talented.
But all word out of Indianapolis Colts camp
is that Leatu Latu is a real deal.
He's fast.
He's got all the moves.
Obviously, everybody's buying in.
Stocks, go ahead.
Great player.
I think we knew that he was going tos, go ahead. Great player.
I think we knew that he was going to be a great player.
Tattoo.
He got that tattoo.
Everybody's kind of cooked him.
Now he's starting to cook an entire sleeve into that thing.
I think it's going to look damn good.
It should work out great.
And Egebom is our sack leader last year.
Oh, damn.
Yeah, so that's not good at all.
Obviously not happy about it.
We appreciate the hell out of you.
You're the man.
Safe travels.
We can't wait to watch you on TV tonight.
Thank you, guys. Have a great day. Enjoy the first day of school tonight. You got it, ladies and gentlemen. I'm Shepard.
Happy birthday.
Did people enjoy the first day of school?
So, I think it was
highly anticipated. Yes.
I think that is the anticipation
is so big. Okay.
Does that make sense? Yeah, but
looking forward to this, more so than like,
hey, we're going back to school. Summer's over.
No one gives a shit about the school part.
See your pals.
You got the fresh fit. Obviously,
you get a certain point. It's like, okay, now
you got school and then football on top
of it, which is always, you know,
who's going to be in my homeroom?
First day of college was fascinating.
That was fascinating. That was the one.
That was fascinating.
Because we were already there for summer workouts.
So I'd been there for, what, a month and a half, two months?
How long are the summer workouts?
Do you remember, AJ?
Yeah.
A month and a half, probably.
Probably.
A month and a half.
Did you take summer classes before?
Yeah.
Took summer classes.
Like, you know.
Oh, yeah.
Those are poor. Yeah. We we're talking pick up a couple
a's we took some real real hard classes so had to show up at class had to manage that entire thing
was staying in a dormitory so like got the whole process and then when everybody else showed up it
was like cool like oh great people are here we're kind of in an empty town but i did feel like i had to lay in the land a lot better than
everybody else it was quite an advantage you felt like you're already in college you felt like you
already knew everything but yeah everyone shows up and then you got i mean it took me it takes
me months to find my classes at ohio state they're everywhere and you still yeah that's why you just
don't go you know like sometimes sometimes you don't know where the building they checked ours
too yeah i i had to run a few times and then we had an understanding.
I was like, I won't.
Okay.
Not going to be there.
I'll be eligible.
I can't do this.
You don't want me in these classes either.
It's going to be more problems than not.
So just know the tests come around.
I'll be great.
I'll figure it out.
Some of the classes piqued my interest.
So I stopped by.
Miss Feather, Nancy Feather.
She had a sociology class that I took a few of those. That was intriguing. That was intriguing. Yeah, that was, that was really intriguing. I think that's
helped a lot with everything that has kind of taken place in my life as well. I think that is
one of the biggest like misconceptions with college too, is you think going in like, Oh,
I'm going to get to pick all my own classes. Like you don't get to do that. Like until you actually
have like completed all like the bullshit ones that you have to before you get into your actual major.
It's kind of just like high school.
You have your core set of classes that you have to take,
and I feel like that's why a lot of people are like,
well, I didn't pick these.
I'm not going to these classes.
Are you kidding me?
There was a computer science class that was everybody's first semester
freshman.
That was what it was.
I read the thing. The pieces? What is it what it was. I read the thing.
The pieces?
What is it?
The syllabus.
I read the syllabus.
I read the syllabus on the show, or of this class.
The show, same thing, because the person teaching the show,
which is why I'm not good in class.
Because if it's not a good show, I am not.
I get turned out quick.
Can't watch.
Yeah, I can't.
I apologize for this.
Homework every single night, like doing something. I'm like, I'm not doing this. I need to drop this class. College? Yeah. Homework every single night, like doing something.
I'm like, I'm not doing this.
I need to drop this class.
Yeah, homework every single night was this thing.
And I'm like, I'm not fucking committing anything to that.
No way.
So I'm like, I need to drop class.
I need to drop class.
They're like, you can't drop this class.
This is literally a freshman mandatory class.
I was like, is it mandatory or is it freshman mandatory?
And they looked into it. And they're like, well, you have to take it.
I'm like, sweet, we'll kick this one.
We will punt this one in the next semester.
Still haven't taken that class.
Still haven't taken that class.
I don't have a degree, obviously.
I punted that thing literally every single semester,
and it was like, nah, I'm never taking it.
Every night I needed to be committed to this?
Come on, computers, it's easy.
What type of fucking relationship does this class think I'm having with it. Every night I needed to be committed to this. Come on, it's computers. It's easy. What type of fucking relationship does this class think I'm having with it?
Every night I'm thinking of it?
I don't think so.
There's no way.
You've got to take it.
I don't know.
I'm not doing it.
Next offseason, we should all take this class.
I assume what it is now because of the development.
Exactly.
That's what I mean.
It's probably awesome.
Completely different.
The classes right after runs are like the worst, right?
Never made them.
It's the hardest thing to do, like an 8 a.m.
Oh.
How was your guys' workout?
So, Kennesaw, I assume, from what it sounds like, effort, attitude, toughness.
The class.
The coach.
The class.
Eatsy.
Eatsy.
In the classroom, too.
Eatsy.
Eatsy.
Eatsy.
Eatsy.
And I think you should go to class.
I would have been the first person in my family graduated from college.
It would have been a big deal.
I still haven't done it. Maybe someday. But my parents also don't care. You go to college, you would have been the first person in my family that graduated from college. It would have been a big deal. I still haven't done it.
Maybe someday.
But my parents also don't care.
You go to college, you get a profession.
We found one.
So let's go ahead and do this entire thing.
But the workouts were absurd.
Like Mike Boros was our strength coach.
I had no idea what I was signing up for.
I was like, yeah, I want to stop playing soccer
because of how much I run.
I want to do the kicking thing
because there's not a lot of running.
And it was more running than anything
I've ever done in my entire life.
Kennesaw State, same exact way.
Prepares you for life, though, doesn't it?
Yeah, it does, honestly.
Jim Carizzi was my strength coach.
He's head strength coach at Navy now.
Damn.
No bullshit.
He ran a tight ship.
It was almost not worth sleeping in or missing it.
Yes.
Yeah, you don't sleep.
Because it was like the punishment just wasn't worth going through.
It was like, do I really want to run for two hours?
Yeah, consequences.
Watching my teammates.
No, I don't want to do it.
It's horrible.
So I'd just go into this.
I'd be like stumbling into the class after 5 a.m. runs asleep.
But obviously, it's very important.
Obviously, in the classes, we're very appreciative to the professors
and to the other students that were doing that.
But football was a full-time job.
I assume other sports are like that as well.
And it was exhausting.
Exhausting, obviously, not in comparison to real jobs. Military, police, firefighters, all that, like, Hey, listen, we appreciate the
real jobs, but whenever like football workouts are real at 6.00 AM to these things are at 6.00 AM.
But I think, and you tell me if it's helped you become a WWE superstar, the way you have
the amount of like paranoia I had, you talk about missing that. That was the birth of like the eight
alarm in my phone. Like, Hey, we're're not missing we're not late for this thing because consequences are dire but a lot
of the accountability I've carried into life I think and potentially into this business hopefully
people see that I think people outside this building feel that the um for sure consequences
happen man that's right decisions happen these are things cause and effect there is uh yeah we
just kind of move along you know we fucked up too. Hey, listen, this is how this whole thing goes.
But college football set me up for success, I think, in life more than anything else.
And it was the everything.
Do you feel that way with WWE?
How much do you lean on your football life?
I mean, I lean on it tremendously cuz I was just so bought into our culture there.
It was just such a good group of people coming,
cuz we were a new program at the time too. We only had one season by the time I got there. So, like, such a good group of people, like, coming –
because we were a new program at the time, too.
We only had one season by the time I got there.
So it was, like, all about proving ourselves and proving that we belong.
So, like, we had to work twice as hard as everybody else in the country in FCS
because we knew we had, like – you know, because they didn't –
nobody thought we were going to do anything.
Nobody thought we were going to be a playoff team or be a top 10 team
or be as successful as we were as early on.
But it just came down to a bunch of people bought into the program
and what Coach Bowe and these coaches were trying to get us to buy into.
It was just a bunch of people who wanted to win.
And do you carry that now into the WWE?
Yeah, every day, man.
I said it last week.
I told the world that I was going to kick
Sami Zayn's ass at SummerSlam, and it was
going to be built off effort, attitude, and toughness.
And that's the same thing that I used to
bury people
in the dirt or whatever it was
at Kennesaw State. It's the same thing, man.
It's the same principle.
AJ, have you seen yourself wrestling in 2K?
AJ, you're a dog in there, dude.
You run the ropes like you're Braun Breaker.
He is a dog, dude.
He is a dog.
Have you seen him?
Braun just learned about the 31 tackles in a game three times.
It's insane.
This guy's a fucking machine, dude.
Yeah, it's a lot of tackles.
Could you imagine being on the opposing team, though?
No way.
31 tackles, and then he turns around and goes and scores.
Twice.
Just quick.
Do we just walk off?
Do we just leave?
Do we leave the field?
This guy is just better than us.
All week?
Oh, my God.
We've got to play A.J. Hart.
That's the next week.
Yeah, the next week the team is having that.
Triple coverage.
The night of, though, is could somebody block this guy?
Like, think about the amount of times that somebody said,
can somebody block?
He's not that good.
The opposing coach.
Yeah, the old line coach on the other team.
And you're a psycho, too.
You said nothing the entire night.
That was back when you were, like, a mute, right?
Oh, no.
I was too tired to talk.
I was playing both ways.
Didn't say a word.
I wouldn't talk anyway. Didn't celebrate. Didn't say a word. I wouldn't talk anyway.
Didn't celebrate.
Didn't say a word.
Just 31 kills up.
Walk right back.
They knew at that point, though.
Nobody's talking trash to him, though.
Nobody's saying like, you ain't going to do it again.
Did people chirp you or no, AJ?
I don't remember people talking too much in high school, no.
Either side.
Did you get the neck roll on?
That was a fresh dog.
What a dog. I mean, I'm like 150 pounds thrown out there to the wolves. Yeah, that are talking too much in high school now. Either side. Did you get the neck roll on? That was a freshman year. What a dog. What a dog.
I mean, I'm like 150 pounds thrown out there to the Wolves.
Yeah, that was tough.
He was a freshman.
He was a freshman.
That's tough.
Did you play varsity or no?
Yeah, I played from the jump, yeah.
Hell yeah, you played varsity.
No big deal.
31 tackles.
That was probably captain.
Yeah.
Freshman, captain, first man.
Playing against men, though.
That's what's tough.
You step in there like 150-pound, 14-year-old playing against 18-year-old men.
It's a big difference.
Well, let's talk about you playing men because his high school,
I don't know if you guys do this down in Georgia.
I don't think we do it at my high school.
I don't know if high school.
This is the only high school ever.
Ever.
They have an alumni full pad tackle game.
We did.
We did.
Not anymore.
Adults, you can go back to your high school, put pads on,
and play against the high school team.
They had a full pad alumni, 11-on-11, tackle.
It was a scrimmage in camp.
It was like the first Saturday in camp.
Yeah, he killed Kirk Herbstreit.
Kirk Herbstreit's last time ever putting on a helmet.
Kirk Herbstreit, Centerville Elk legend.
Is that a receipt for him or something?
Did he make a match?
That is a good question.
Did he talk shit on you?
Why did you decide to go?
No.
He picked Michigan over the Bucs. Hey, he won. He was wearing his Ohio State helmet. Was he calling a biased game or something? Did he make a match? That is a good question. Did he talk shit on you? Why did you decide to go? No. He picked Michigan over the Bucs.
He was wearing his
state helmet. Was he calling a biased game or something?
No, he
came back. He was playing quarterback, running the triple
option. I was running down the line. He kept
it. He didn't hand it off for pitching.
How old was he? He was probably
30-something. I was 15,
I believe.
15?
I think it was going into my
sophomore year.
And then what? Sorry, he was running triple.
I cut you off there just because I thought that was...
I had a nice form tackle on him, and he claims it was
right at his temple. I don't remember that part
or not, but either way, I'm playing against
30-year-old dudes. I'm trying to protect myself.
All these guys played in college, too.
It's either you're going to kill me or I'm going to kill you.
So this Ryan L is going temple hunting.
Kirk Herbstreet said, I never put on pads again after that.
It's like the alumni game even putting pads on is bananas.
How sweet is that?
So Ohio.
Bring it back.
That's the most Ohio thing I've ever heard.
I don't know how many hamstrings and hip flexors.
Would you go play?
Would you go play?
At the Plum High School one?
Yeah.
That would be very funny to think about.
A thousand percent. Why would you? I think you're
quarterbacking. I don't know if we're just having you punt either.
I think you're doing multiple. Are you
playing for the Plum High School one? You were there, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. If we're running the triple
option, I'll go play
two back. Change the offense. Sweet. This is Plum
High School legend. A.J. Hawk also
went to Centerville and Plum High School. Yeah, we
should put a little alumni game together. You know start really stacking the team but these kids would kill you
i don't know aj he's playing i wouldn't do it is he playing are you playing mike in this game
because i don't know i don't know if i want to get ear holed i'm not playing no i'm not going back
those kids would kill me those 30 year olds were playing 15 year olds oh that's the whole game
offense and defense alumni versus the current team.
They were doing that in Ohio.
As of not too late, as of 20 years ago.
Not that long.
AJ's got us covered.
31 tackles.
So nobody's got to play defense.
Nope.
Bingo.
Can you imagine that, though?
That's before AJ, obviously, was an All-American, went to the NFL.
Kirk Herbstreet was the starting quarterback at Ohio State.
And some 15-year-old kid just, like, damn near kills him.
And, like, he's like, okay, like, I'm done with this shit.
Never again.
Like, how emasculating that would be.
I hope Kirk could put him over after that, right?
I hope he's, like, telling him, like, this kid,
we need to get eyes on this guy.
Kirk's dad at one point was the coach at Ohio State as well.
So, I mean, like. We're talking about Ohio State
history and folklore and legends there.
I assume after that day,
Kirk's immediate thought was,
Ohio State's got a guy coming down the pipeline
two, three years from now.
I don't know how his grades are. I assume he's
really smart. Two, three years from now, Ohio State's going to have
and lo and behold, freshman year, this guy
goes to Ohio State. Guess what they do?
National championship.
Starter.
Yeah, starter.
Starter.
Not a starter.
Not a starter.
And a national championship.
Did you play with Laurinaitis?
James came.
He was a freshman my senior year.
Okay.
Okay.
Todd, everything you know.
Yeah.
James Laurinaitis, son of Animal, part of Road Warriors.
I got assigned 8x10 first day james came on
campus pretty much i got assigned eight by his dad's legend man james is a dog too he was a
player how many of the other how many of the other like um wrestlers kids did you know kind of
growing up um is it that type of a community yeah but i just was young you know like uh yeah because you're younger than
things kids are older than than me and um i mean yeah it's just an age gap charlotte's older
charlotte randy i mean everybody's yeah i'm i'm behind do they have uh pictures because every
once in a while i'll make it to um the day of and there'll be you know people are warming up in the
ring for their match at night you know warming up during the day whenever the arena's has nobody in it and they'll have their kids in
the ring like and there's photos like there's photos getting taken i'm like that is a that's
probably a sweet memory yeah right there especially if it goes on was there any of that for you did
you stay away or were you a part of it i did i was playing ball so much i was a three sport athlete
so like okay i just i had no time to hey is Brekensteiner the sweetest feeling of all time when you run up the road?
So, I talked to Scotty yesterday, and he, like, you know, came up with that name for that move or whatever.
He was like, tell Pat I'm going to come see him at SummerSlam.
Oh, no.
That's not good.
I don't like that.
And I defended you.
I was like, dude, that's a better name than Frankensteiner.
What the hell are you talking about?
We're starting a new thing.
Right?
Your name's Bronco. He's like,
oh, you know.
This ain't good.
Yeah, you better hide.
Head on his will.
Better get in the coal cage, the old aquarium he used to be in.
Yeah, they need to glass me up.
He is a beast.
Oh, yeah. He's not happy?
Is that what we just heard?
He's just messing around. Oh, yeah. He's not happy? Is that what we just heard? He's not happy?
No, he's just messing around.
I hope so.
Until he is.
I hope so. Until he is.
All right, before we get out of here on ESPN,
Chase Lewis, that's the last person I need.
I already got enough.
That's terrible news.
After an A-show story,
there is enough to go around for old.
Pat doesn't need to be on this earth here.
We don't need.
I mean, he's how she's
still oh yeah oh man all right anyways aj before we get off uh espn here and continue on youtube
and espn plus and tiktok live uh texans bears tonight hall of fame game texans favored by one
and a half over under 30 and a half what are your thoughts on how this game goes in canton ohio
i'm gonna take the under on points i feel like this game usually is low scoring. I'm just,
I'm here for the kickoff. I have no idea who's going to win. I don't even know who's playing
the game. I want to see some big hits and I want to see how this whole kickoff situation plays out.
I want to see someone return one for a touchdown. Yeah, there's a chance it's going to happen,
especially with people playing special teams for the first time and with a new play for the first
time ever. You know, this is the first time ever. So there's always going to be potential
MAs. You know, whenever people in third, ever, so there's always going to be potential MAs.
You know, whenever people in third, fourth quarter, they've been playing a lot of football, they get tired.
All you got to do is poke your head just one particular direction,
and the person next to you poke it the other way, and then bang, there's a touchdown.
Seemingly, that's what the NFL wants with this new kickoff.
I assume there is a pretty good, hey, let's kick the ball in the landing zone
from the NFL to these special teams coaches tonight.
Because normally there's an agreement between special teams coaches like,
hey, we're not rushing the punt tonight.
We don't have our protection in.
Like, okay, deal, deal, deal.
We're not running any of this.
We're not running any of these returns.
Deal, deal, deal.
I bet tonight there's probably like a, hey, let's see how this new –
Showcase.
Let's see how this new kickoff thing works.
There's a landing zone.
There's a kickoff spot.
The rest of the team is lined up in the uh i forget the what do they call it it's probably that area there's called the uh the
neutral zone there between the 35 and the 40. nobody can move until the ball is touched at
these spots the 35 and 40 neutral zone the two returners in the back are allowed to move obviously
uh because they have to go get the ball once they touch the ball or the ball touches off and running everybody can leave from the 40-yard line and start covering the
kick and there's gonna be a lot of ideas a lot of opinions uh this is football though this year
that's right braun bryker's gonna it's gonna take a bit to get him used to it good luck on saturday
brock thank you guys for having me boys yeah good luck on saturday you're the man uh okay we'll be
back tomorrow for a feel-good Friday
as we go into SummerSlam weekend
with the Olympics still happening.
Life is great.
I hope you feel it.
Be a friend, tell a friend something nice.
It might change their life.
Goodbye.
See you at 5300 up there, Bron?
That's the fucker.
That's what we're looking for.
Five-second delay, count it for her.
Hey, Pat, you think on the kickoff,
if anyone's going to fake him and try to sweep him,
I'm going to act like I'm taking fake him and try to sweep him like,
hey, I'm going to act like I'm taking a step back
and then turn and boom,
try to blast my dude?
Bron, we are still live.
Just want to let you know that.
You think on the return team?
If you're on the return team,
instead of trying to get some depth,
what if I say, hey,
I do like the old fake blitzing,
like Paul Amato,
hey, I'm dropping.
No, I'm not.
I take a drop step and I turn.
I try to just blast my guy
and get him on the ground. Right? That's kind of what I was, I was going to ask AJ. I'm dropping. No, I'm not. I take a drop step and I turn. I try to just blast my guy and get him on the ground.
Right?
That's kind of what I was going to ask AJ.
I was going to ask him the same thing.
Like this guy?
Yeah.
How do they – are they going to run?
The guy's in red.
Because we think it's going to be a fair catch or something, right?
Is that what you're saying?
No.
No, I'm saying instead of – they're only five yards away.
So when you're turning and running backwards,
if you're trying to get set up somewhere a little bit like back know back here that might be tough like what if i try to i try
to confront him right up front in that neutral zone i guess right after the neutral zone just
for quick special teams information normally the wedge back in the day used to be more people back
when you know braun was trying to run and then it got down to two people there's normally a shield
of people that are going to try to get in front of the returner if they they're going to run left, the shield will kind of stick on the left side.
If they're going to run right, they'll center right.
If they're going to do up the gut, they'll kind of get in front of them.
Normally, that's a 10-yard gap, though.
Okay?
So normally, that's a 10-yard gap.
You have one of these people who's going to set that up, whose eye's on a returner, and then somebody's coming to meet them.
Okay?
That's what it used to be.
Now, I don't know if anybody will do this anymore, but we shall see.
They're trying to stay 10 yards away.
So with this landing zone, I mean, that could be, you know.
Oh, yeah.
Like, where is that setup coming from?
And are they making that shorter as if it was a bloop kick?
Like, are people going to try to latch on earlier?
Are they going to try to – I don't know.
I'll be intrigued to see what the best effort is.
Depends what your matchup is too.
Like, what's your matchup?
If you're kind of a bigger dude and all of a sudden you see a wideout over top of you,
like, okay, this guy's getting run around me pretty quick.
What am I doing?
I don't think you're allowed to cross field either.
No.
No.
I don't think you're allowed to blindside.
I don't think there's any of that.
I don't know.
If we use that technique where the guys go and retreat and set up a wedge,
it's essentially almost the same premise as before
because you take off when the ball is kicked, right,
on the kickoff team to haul ass.
Yeah, but not here.
And then you coast to try to, like, figure out your – get in your lane.
So you're essentially running the same speed as if we ran the same premise here.
Same speed.
Nobody's running your speed.
Nobody's running your speed.
But, like, even tonight, though,
if either of these special teams coordinators do have some sort of plan, they're probably
not even showing it. So are we just going to get
the standard, like,
hey, this is what it's supposed to look like either way?
AJ, do you think they try to
get reps in this thing, or do you think they
try to hold back? I think they're going to try to figure
out what the real play is. I think they want reps.
And the rest of the league is going to be watching these
reps, too, and studying it tomorrow morning
to show their special teams, hey, this is
what they're doing. This is what we're thinking. I think there's
just so much unknown. Brian, it feels like you
don't know about this, so I want to break some more bad news to you.
No surprise onside kicks. No
onside kicks outside of the final five minutes of the fourth
quarter when you have to tell the other team you're doing one.
You have to...
What do you mean?
Radio?
Radio.
That's how I'm saying it. You have to... What do you mean? Like, radio? Yeah. Like a shadow.
Obviously.
You have to tell that?
You have to be like, hey.
Yes.
Yeah.
Bro, so why?
So football.
They're stealing our game.
It's still football, Bron.
Hey, how do we know when to go, Pat?
How do we know when we can take off?
So that was whenever we talked to Coach Riz,
he said the whistle was too much for the XFL
because then there was an echo and there was an early whistle.
But football is revolved around whistles.
Air horn?
What do you mean, air horn somewhere?
He said it was going to be like a ref hint.
They don't want the sound.
They don't want a sound.
A gun would be awesome.
If there was a sprinter, take them out!
We got a flare from underneath the field goal post because everyone can see that.
The way he was talking about it to us,
and I don't know what they ended up making the actual rule was,
they did not want a sound indicator or something distracting.
They wanted it to be like a...
The players are going to yell, though.
The coach on the sideline is going to be sitting there
and they're all going to be like,
they're going to give them their go sign or whatever.
On the Jumbotron?
Oh, my God.
Are they going to turn around and look then?
Yeah, well.
Can everybody look at the same person?
If one ref's doing it, everyone's cranking their head different ways to find this ref.
Well, and then also, if you're the offer turner, you are distracting as if you are.
Yeah.
Right?
So people are looking at you, waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting.
And you can pump fake it, too, right before it's going to get there.
Look, this is us just spitballing here in like 10 seconds whenever a new problem has come.
These special teams coordinators have stayed up all night,
all night for probably weeks straight trying to figure out
how do I not get fired because of a new rule that I can't figure out.
And also, how do we take advantage of this rule more so than everybody else,
which is what Dan Lanning told us, the head coach of Oregon,
whenever he came in.
He's 37 years old, head coach of the Oregon Ducks.
Projected to go win a national championship by some people.
So in a new conference, could you imagine he comes into the Big Ten?
That'd be tough for the Big Ten.
He said, though, great team, great team.
Good time for them to join the Big Ten, you know, for the Big Ten.
Like, hey, especially if they go, it'll be an entire serenade.
But he said, like, I asked him about changing the rules.
How much do you tell people?
And, like, are you part of shaping the new culture? And's like uh i'm more worried about like what the rules are us
making the best of them like us take us utilizing the rules and making the best team and i was like
oh that's a smart by the way smart answer love that that was your answer but that's like how
all coaches think that are football people all football people are trying to take advantage of
every single rule which is why football people viewed Bill Belichick vastly different than
everybody outside because everybody in football
was like, ooh, smart.
And then the Tom Brady deflate thing.
There was nobody football-wise
that was coming out like, geez, mother.
Because other
quarterbacks that might have liked it a little softer
were like, damn, should have had that entire...
Or also, we have our shit
softer. Let's not look into this too much.
So it's like this rule here, I can't wait to say who's dabbling,
who is fucking with it.
The NFL is going to have to say you can't do that.
That is something you can't do because there's going to be at least a few of
those over the next training camp thing.
To your point, that's why I think we're going to get legitimate reps all
preseason because these guys don't want
just there to be widespread chaos
week one where it's like, oh shit,
we should have, instead of being like, oh, we don't
want to showcase what we're going to do, let's
actually make sure these guys know what the fuck they're doing
so that we don't give three
kickoff returns for a touchdown week one.
We're excited for it this evening. We are pumped for it.
Can't wait to watch. Are we going to get the new chains
tonight too? That whole new technology? I think we do have the Hawk technology this evening. We are pumped for it. Can't wait to watch. Are we going to get the new chains tonight, too? That whole new technology?
I think we do have the Hawk technology this evening.
Yeah, that'll be cool.
It's all the new stuff.
That is what's exciting about it.
What does that mean?
What's the new stuff?
So the Hawkeye technology is not Iowa.
It is the tennis thing.
Oh.
Like the VAR stuff.
I believe that is where the ball is going to be.
Yeah.
So they're doing that during training camp and preseason.
Hopefully it works.
Because there's obviously been a lot of conversation about bringing out the chains,
this eye, that eye, and this should expedite everything too, hopefully,
because the laser will be able to tell whoever's in the top box,
yup, it's good, run it.
The only issue is this is going to feed some
conspiracy. Oh yeah. Big time.
Presentation is going to be very important.
This is going to feed.
This is going to feed because tennis
I guess already has it. Because we had McEnroe
on and McEnroe told us that
the Hawkeye technology that we all assumed
was perfect in tennis was like,
do you believe that though? Because I guess some
tennis players have seen a ball with their eyes right below them hit a line and then gets challenged and all of a sudden
it's out and then the immediate thought is you're me that is it's also the people up above
are the ones telling the refs whether it's a first down or not like vra people have made mistakes on
off sides telling the ref that it was onside so i mean there's always going
to be but hopefully this expedites the game speeds up the game gets things more accurate and
is better which we we are fans of this move i would like let everybody know we're fans this move
and in like five weeks we might be getting dunked on because we say that because of all the
i mean the potential conversation about if a team gets a first down late and then all of a sudden fast snap and then needle out the game.
They can't challenge it.
And you can only challenge it from up top at that time, too.
And up top is deciding if it's a first down.
It's going to get so loud.
It is going to get so, so, so loud.
Technology fails, too.
We know that.
At some point, it will always fail.
Are they going to have backup chains still always?
If we're doing lasers in sensors, sorry, not lasers, but sensors in the ball,
and we have cameras already in the pylons,
why is it that Bill Belichick, whenever he pitches,
we should have cameras down the goal line at every stadium,
down the first down marker line at every stadium,
and down the other goal line every state and down
each side sideline like not for TV purposes but those should just be the NFL piece them in there
so we have it why is why are they that's big news that I thought that was already yeah I assumed it
was that's how it is you assumed and I guess it's not though they thought that bill was gonna like
access the footage and use it to his advantage somehow? Why did anybody care about him bringing it?
No, they don't want to pay.
We have bad news about the Hawkeye.
Canton High School Stadium is not equipped to have the Hawkeye.
Of course.
Of course.
Do they at least have grass that doesn't look like shit?
Son of a bitch.
Son of a bitch.
That's crazy to think about, though.
Because, you know, just, I mean, this guy, he's a pretty shit out. He can't feel it. It's got some pretty shit ass. Okay. No
Why you messed with your smacking her pretty hard right there? That's the only way to describe trying to loose the guy up
Big one you see how this whole thing started he speared some guy broke into her
Oh, I saw that who is that guy got who's that poor guy who got hit poor guy?
How the hell he get in here?
Yeah, poor guy. He asked for it.
Did you see what he said?
Well, now he's poor guy.
We know how he got out.
He had to sign it.
He had to sign it.
You didn't see him until Braun started walking out?
He came in and started, boom.
We didn't see him until we could hear him.
Yeah, exactly.
How'd this guy get in here?
I don't like it, Braun.
Can you handle that for us?
Braun took off in those cowboy boots, too.
That's tough to do.
On wood.
On hardwood.
Boom.
Yeah.
Nighty-night.
That guy's dead.
I think so.
Broken in half.
We don't know.
I hope so.
We don't know.
Jeez.
He said Canada was greater than the USA.
It's true.
I saw the sign.
I saw the sign.
I don't follow Canada's claim in Zami Zane, either.
Zami? He walked through the crowd. Zami all of Canada is claiming Zami Zane either. Zami?
He walked through the crowd.
Zami?
Zami Zane.
Zami Zane.
He's not going to be a WWE Hall of Famer.
He's about to lose to Braun on Saturday night.
Is he still a little loose in the cage?
He's going to end his career, he said.
That's what Braun said.
Let's go for one final check-in here in Hammer.
Dime.
Dime.
With Tone Diggs.
What happened in the gymnastics?
We are in it.
We are in the final rotation.
Simone is the leader after the third rotation by.16 of a point.
Oh, shit.
Obviously, Simone on the floor, you know, she's pretty good there.
So, if she does what she does, she should be gold.
Suni Lee is in T4 after the third rotation.
So, she needs a strong floor performance in the fourth rotation
to jump up into that most likely bronze spot.
This afternoon, strong pull afternoon.
238, we've got the men's 200-meter back,
which unfortunately Ryan Murphy did not make.
We have Keaton Jones going for it.
230, Regan Smith is in the 200-meter women's butterfly going for gold.
The women's 200-meter backstroke, which the U.S. women are in,
go for gold at 4 o'clock in the women's 4x2 relay.
And the 200-meter backstroke, sorry, was Kate Douglas at 3.11.
And then the U.S. women's basketball team plays Belgium at 2.45.
Okay, can't wait to watch it all.
We're very grateful for your updates.
Good work today.
Any corrections?
One correction.
Connor suggested that maybe the Colts would trade up for J.C. Latham.
We know that's not something the Colts would do after some videos came out this weekend.
Okay.
All right.
We knew it was going to be too much.
All right.
Ladies and gentlemen, Tony Diggs.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Hand up.
That's all me.
Good point.
Shut up.
Good point, Tony.
Tony, any guinea woman in the pool?
That is true.
No, I don't believe so.
I did check.
Not in the pool.
How are they doing in archery?
Archery, they're very solid.
Did we win in archery?
Huh?
We had a hell of a contested battle with Mexico earlier this morning.
Oh, that event?
No, I don't think we did.
Oh, so you don't know.
How about the bee?
Did you see that?
That was crazy. The bee landed right on the finger of a marksman. Yep. I don't think we did. Oh, so you don't know. How about the B? Did you see that?
That was crazy.
The B landed right on the finger of a marksman, I believe,
and still got a bullseye.
Yeah, beast.
Still got a bullseye.
How about North Korea, South Korea?
That was a cool moment.
Yeah.
What was it, doubles table tennis? I believe it was, yeah, doubles, either mixed or just the men.
I forget.
I thought it was mixed doubles table tennis.
North Korea, South Korea, China just the men. I thought it was mixed doubles table tennis. North Korea, South Korea,
China is the podium.
North Korea, South Korea, obviously, since
I don't know when, but an exact
year.
Guy shot an 18, he said.
Yeah.
I assume he's not going to be happy about that.
Bingo. They took a
selfie and it was obviously a cool moment. This is like what
the Olympics is all about, though.
This is like magical moments that literally can't happen anywhere else.
But because of sport, because of competition,
we have a selfie of people happy to be next to each other
and sharing an experience together.
This is good for the world.
This is the Olympics, baby.
This is the Olympics.
We love everything about it.
Now, don't love that the Americans weren't on the podium.
Okay, we should have been able to ruin that selfie for everything.
But our table tennis, obviously, jaw.
Yeah, exactly.
And I guess our woman, too, is going.
She's at quarterfinals as well.
Let's go.
Yeah, so.
Lily Zhang, is that her?
I think she's like the most decorated woman that the Americans have had for table tennis.
She's also in the quarterfinals.
The one that Ann Edwards was there watching.
Boom. Yeah.
I wonder how he feels now if he could score.
I think we know his tone
probably. He's saying yes.
I think it might have changed after
seeing how fucking good
they are at table tennis. Table tennis is
electrifying to watch. Did you guys play
table tennis down there at Kennesaw?
We didn't have it in the locker room, but
it's
the real deal.
Hand-eyed coordination.
If you're not coordinated like that,
you get exposed quick.
You should see these Olympians the way they play.
Are they just freaking out?
It doesn't look real.
It's Forrest Gump.
It looks like Forrest Gump, the movie. That Gump. It looks like Forrest Gump.
The movie.
That's insane.
You look like Forrest Gump on a football field.
And they look like Forrest Gump in the table tennis world.
They graphiced it in.
But they're literally
doing that against each other.
And it's so hard. So much spin on it.
There's balls just popping off of paddles
just going straight sideways. How did you ever hit one? I. So much spin on it. There's balls just popping off of paddles just going, like, straight sideways.
It's like, well, how did you ever hit one?
I don't know how any of it.
They got weapons.
We got two, though.
Let's go.
And the crazy part, too, is, like, they know when it's going far or to the side.
Like, Jha on one of the winning points yesterday, like, as soon as he hit it
and the guy went to return it, he knew, like, oh, that's off.
Well, that's because he had that top spin on.
Yeah.
And the guy wanted to counter that, but he hit it a little thin.
A little too, yeah. So then he said, it's over.
Yeah. That's Ja, baby.
I'm going to try to get Ja in here.
I'm going to try to get Ja in here.
Set up a table tennis table.
And then put an Oculus on him.
No, yeah. Walk with my walk.
No, we will do that afterwards.
But then I think we set the the max because of he was suspended
because of bullshit yep absolute bullshit if the story we read and told which he shared and
seemingly confirmed is accurate from a journalist wrote this story where he didn't add plus one to
his phone number on a form so he wasn't able to be reached by the drug tester so he missed three drug tests
and then ended up getting suspended because that equated to a fail for a year and so he didn't
wasn't able to acquire any professional table tennis points which obviously go towards making
the olympic team so then whenever he comes back he doesn't have a lot of time before the olympics
so he runs through two trials to try to get enough points to get up in there then he has his best
showing this guy was once the youngest member of our table tennis team in history now he's in his third olympics prime
for a run and they try to get him they try to take him out and he came back his profession was table
tennis so he should spend it for a year just training in his olympic time so you can't really
just go pick up an insurance salesman job you got to do your thing so he started to go fund me now
he's on a run i'm happy yeah so we're going to bring him in here I think
And I think
Cap it at like 50 grand
Every consecutive point he has
Against one of us
We'll put a grand on it
So he could run this thing up 45 nothing
Yeah
Okay
And then it's 45 grand
But if we steal
Just steal one
All we need is just steal one point
He hits one long
when he's up to nothing boom two grand see you job we tried it out we gave you that but that is
i think that's a sweet yeah that'd be awesome that's a sweet it'd be cool yeah because then
he's actually trying to because i don't want i don't want us to shock this guy yeah okay yeah
i think he might get to 50
I think if he wanted to get to 50
No problem
But I would like to give him
At least a little bit of
Enticement to go
Like hey
Fucking
Like
Yeah
Just cook us
Just absolutely
Just so we can see it too
I would like to
Oh yeah
See what it feels like
To be on the other side
Me too
Yeah like I wanna
I wanna be in it
To feel how Yeah Fucking good these guys are.
I want to feel the spin.
I want to feel this.
I want to hit one that I think is going to go,
and then the thing fucking just goes sideways and be like,
well, how does anybody ever return there?
Well, you've got to counter it.
It's like spin without a doubt, but you want to feel the speed.
I mean, let's be honest.
I want Ja to feel the speed.
I want to hit one of these.
I just want to hit one of these.
But I feel like he's also the guy who's like,
okay, I'm never going to hit it to this guy's forehand ever.
Well, then that's good news because I've got two forehands.
Yeah, I know, but he's going to be cutting spin shots
that are landing a half an inch over the net.
I haven't played in so long.
We can get a week of training in here.
But the goal is to lose 50 zip.
But if we can, I don't even know what the
way he plays if i'll even be able to get this i was just going to say the speed to ty's point
i am so worried about my transition your speed might have to get that is yeah i don't know if
my speed yeah is anywhere near where it needs to be here yes that's how i play aj that is literally
how i play i am a two forehand player and, oh, we'll just take advantage of that.
It's like, I mean, if I can't get there, I will just hit a little.
I do pickleball.
You do that in pickleball, too, don't you?
Or he's going deep right down the middle as you're switching,
and you have to –
Yeah.
He's throwing either side.
You're hitting it with the middle of the paddle.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He 50 zips us.
I can't wait.
Without a doubt.
But it will be cool to experience.
Yes. You know, it's like this guy, best in. Without a doubt. But it'll be cool to experience. Yes.
You know, it's like this guy, best in our country for sure.
Let's see what it's like.
So hopefully we'll be able to make that happen.
Hopefully.
We have had, I've had a couple conversations with him this morning.
So we have interacted.
Let's go.
Perfect.
He's, hey, we're proud of you, buddy.
They try to hold you back.
Like Adam Pearce.
They try to hold you back.
They try to hold you back.
Hey, Tong, great work today, bud.
You really did it.
Thank you.
Who you got tonight?
I'm leaning Texans.
I'm a little worried Case Keenum doesn't play that much because he's like 38 years old.
But I do love Dougie Mills.
But I feel like the intensity from the Texans camp that we've seen and you've talked about,
that's going to trickle down throughout the game.
I assume so.
I hope so. I hope so.
I'm going Texans and under is my go.
AJ, where were you again?
I'm taking Texans as well. I agree, Tone.
That defense, Matt Burke, the D coordinator,
we saw them. They're laying the wood.
That's a good thing, though.
Their defense may be your third string guys
in the fourth quarter, but they will be
playing their balls off. You know that.
Bron, who do you got?
I got Texans as well.
I just think defensive coordinator. I'm a defense guy too.
I know I ran the ball, but I was a defensive
guy. Yeah, yeah, we know. We saw it.
The way you ran. We saw that.
Yeah, we saw it.
Yeah, we heard you. We heard you loud and clear.
He's got Texans. Connor?
I'm going to take the over and the Bears. Over I like
because of the kickoff. Bears I'm taking just because
all four of you took the Texans. Ty. Yeah, everything's
leaning Texans, so I'm going to take the Bears as well. Okay, that
makes sense. This season could be like last year, you're saying.
Yeah, bingo. And Bruce Brown? I'm on
the Bears. Okay. Gumpy, I don't
want to give away the entire hammer.
Done! Crew, who do you like? Texans.
Easy. And?
Over. Ooh!
Okay. It's a play. Unders did
not hit very often last year in the preseason.
All right, have a great hammer.
Done.
Braun, have an incredible weekend.
Yep.
Let's go.
Go get with yours.
Come on now.
Hey, this is a documentary night.
This is one of those nights that's going to be on your documentary.
Okay?
Let's fucking remember that.
Hell yeah.
And let's enjoy the shit out of everything.
Hell yeah.
All those dogs are going to be barking so loud.
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
Can't wait to watch.
I'm going to be lucky to be there.
And Sammy Zane, we will say, we're massive fans as well.
Okay?
Can't wait to watch.
That was one guy.
That was the Canadian lad back there.
I don't like that.
I have bra breaker through and through, brother.
I don't give a damn about Sammy Zane.
He's a football guy. We apologize, brother. I don't give a damn about Zami Zane. That's what we thought.
He's a football guy.
We apologize.
I mean, that's how that's going to go.
All right, we'll be back tomorrow.
We can't thank you enough.
Good luck out there.
Be a friend.
Tell a friend something nice that might change their life.
We're in this thing together.
Let's never forget it.
And we're always legitimately,
I know it doesn't feel this way
sometimes on the internet
whenever my name is mentioned,
but I think we're,
I'm legitimately trying to just, you know, we're all seeing the same picture
I think sometimes I might be wrong, but I think we're all seeing the same picture and it's like let's just continue to enjoy sport
Let's continue to enjoy life and let's remember that it's all gonna end for all of us
So might as well enjoy the hell today out of today. We're in this thing together team on me
Hell yeah, boy burn team on three one two three two. Goodbye
