Hello beautiful people and welcome to our humble abode, the Thunderdome on this Jameis Thursday, August 15, 2024. This program starts now.
Football!
Now the name Jameis is obviously synonymous with one particular human and yes, it is true.
Jameis Winston of the Cleveland Browns now formerly of the Saints and the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers and the Florida State Seminoles where he won a Heisman and a national championship
entering his 10th season as a quarterback for the Browns a race competitor against Vrabel every
single practice as a motivational speaker as an absolute weapon to society will be joining us in
about 14 minutes. That's a big day. I cannot wait to chit chat with him.
Shout out to the Browns, shout out to
Jameis, shout out to his people for making this happen.
I guess he knows the show rather well.
I guess he knows. So, we are going to
take it upon ourselves to ask him if
everything we've been saying over the years, because this is our first
time getting to chat with him, is an accurate
depiction of the situation that was taking
place. Obviously going to have to bring up the big W
eating of the thing. Going to have to bring up the big W eating of the thing.
Sure.
Going to have to bring up him not being able to see shit when he was Tampa Bay Buccaneers
and he led the NFL in touchdowns thrown and led the NFL in interceptions, but he literally
could not see anything.
Nope.
Like, was that an accurate depiction of the state of how you were playing?
And did you win a national championship and a Heisman without being able to see anything?
How have you been able to do this?
And I assume it's all going to come back to some motivational speech
because what this guy does is inspire and bring juice everywhere he goes.
And I think it's a big weapon for the Cleveland Browns to have him
on this particular season for Deshaun Watson,
which is obviously very important for him.
But the Cleveland Browns team could.
Oh, yeah?
They could.
They could go and win it all.
So I can't wait to chat with him.
Very thankful for him stopping by.
They'll have Ice Cube joining us at the end of the hour.
You know that three-on-three Olympic situation where we saw Team America,
men's side, obviously not be –
Poop the bed.
Be terrible.
Just not good at putting a ball into a hoop.
Yeah.
And then doing the whole thing.
Yeah.
But over here, we have a three-on-three league that is going into its eighth season, I believe, televised
with a lot of ex-NFL guys or NBA guys
and then also just three-on-three weapons over here.
And we watch them play, and they're 6'8", 6'9", 6'10", can move,
understand the strategy, the technique of three-on-three basketball,
what you need to do.
They got Gary Payton coaching that league alongside other NBA icons.
And it was like, we know that exists.
How come that is not represented?
Well, turns out there might be a little tomfoolery going on.
A little bit.
Not just with Ray Gunn, allegedly, down there in Australia.
And she said thank you to everybody who sent me to love and everything like that.
She has some downtime in Europe for the next three weeks.
But there is a lot of investigating and snooping around,
going around with Reagan, who's a doctor.
But the FIBA situation, them running the Olympic basketball,
both the men's, women's basketball, but then a three-on-three and three-on-three,
they have their own professional league that they have over in Europe.
So Ice Cube, and I guess I was part of the announcement as well,
very lucky to be part of it,
and I added in like another $100,000 or something like that.
Ice Cube said, hey, we think we have the best three-on-three players on Earth.
They weren't allowed to compete in the Olympics,
potentially because of conflict of interest between the people that are running it
and potentially competition, you know, the whole thing.
So we would like to put up money and have the three-on-three gold medalists,
the Netherlands, come play against our All-Stars
on our August 18th championship night.
So the Netherlands team that won, in.
Yep.
100% in.
So they had to request approval from FIBA, which is their governing body and the league
in which they play three-on-three, the professional, they get paid to be professional three-on-three
players for a FIBA three-on-three league that happens in Europe.
FIBA responded to them and said, there's a 21-day period that you have to put these requests in. It's only 10 days to
the event. Sorry. Sorry. We can't pull it off. Can't do it. Just basically a bunch of legal
mumbo-jumbo for two paragraphs. And then the bottom one just said, it's only been 10 days.
We only have 10 days. Need to have at least three weeks so in those first three paragraphs mumbo jumbo
addendum this yep aforementioned this that so much bullshit that lawyers put in to have other
lawyers have to be on the other side so they can all have jobs forever which respect you do what
you got to do but yeah it seems to be a little bit of a crooked operation nonetheless so you
get through all the legal mumbo-jumbo,
and then the thing that they pull out of their contract
that all players sign over there is that for this type of request,
during their season, you would have to do it three weeks in advance,
which, by the way, did not know it was the middle of their season.
Makes sense if they say, hey, you're not going to be allowed to do this.
But what I fear is no matter what happens, they're going to find an addendum.
So we'll talk to Ice Cube at the end of the hour, see what he's thinking.
Is he done with it, or is he going to continue?
What does the future look like for this?
Because I think the Netherlands players wanting to do it is a big deal.
Huge.
I respect and appreciate the hell out of that.
You win a three-on-three thing, they're like, yeah, when you play in the Olympics,
the purpose of being one of those is to capitalize on your Olympic fame immediately afterwards.
Bingo.
Cereal boxes, events uh conferences speeches appearances uh
250 000 to go play three on three in boston in front of a sold-out arena yeah that would be
something so i appreciate that they're in what will ice cube do we'll find out at the end of
the hour could break some news there yeah that could be a little news breaker i appreciate
every time he stops by kyle long will join us in the second hour, obviously. All pro from the Chicago Bears, from the Long football family dynasty of all the Longs.
All of them.
Everyone you just thought of.
Yep.
He's part of that family.
He was a baseball player, actually, growing up.
Oh, yeah.
Gas, I guess.
Yeah.
And I assume he could hit, like, a...
Probably.
Nice.
With how athletic he is.
Pretty big athlete.
Yeah.
Dad, obviously, Holly, who's one of the most football players of all time, picks up football, ends up going to Oregon, starts,
becomes a top-ten draft pick at guard in just a matter of years,
and then he's all pro Pro Bowl his first year in the league,
and then just continues to go.
Massive Chicago Bears fan.
Don't know if it remained that way immediately after retirement,
whenever he went and kicked the tires of the Chiefs a little bit,
then I think he visited the Raiders,
and I don't know if him and the Bears are on the same page,
but now it feels like he's doing media, launched his own show,
and he likes what the Bears are cooking.
So good news.
Can't wait to chat with him.
Love Kyle.
Oh, yeah.
The man.
Kyle is a good time.
I've got a chance to hang around Kyle a couple times.
Kyle's energy is literally infectious and hilarious.
I hope he does incredible things with his podcast, with his show.
And I think he was on CBS.
Yeah, I believe so. I think he was on CBS, the pregame show his show. And I think he was on CBS. Yeah, I believe so.
I think he was on CBS, the pregame show.
I don't know if he's still doing that or not.
And then third hour on YouTube, ESPN Plus, and TikTok Live,
if we don't get taken down for some Fuge's reason,
which has seemingly been happening lately.
What is it?
What's that all about?
Yeah, I don't know.
Good question.
They're trying to get us.
What are they trying to get us for?
What do we do?
Trying to get everybody.
Having a good time.
We're just announcing the news.
Things that are happening. We love tiktok community love it now granted
don't know what's gonna happen with tiktok you know because the whole congress needs to sell
thing we ain't doing it you ain't you ain't doing it for us right nope so we ain't doing it for you
that's how this whole thing song pandas are back in america though so maybe pandas are back in
america though so maybe that'll kind of bridge the gap in the entire thing for TikTok and the panda
diplomacy was literally,
and I learned this over the weekend, how this whole thing
started because China obviously
owns every single panda.
So panda diplomacy was
a way to bridge a gap between two
countries that are potentially on the
outside looking in. That lease of
the pandas came and went
like a year ago amongst high tensions.
Balloon, everything that was
happening. We thought pandas were going to be gone
from American zoos forever. Even the pandas that were
born in American zoos.
Two pandas are back.
Hell yeah.
There's more pandas coming.
There's more pandas on the way.
Anyway, so maybe the panda
diplomacy will lead into the panda social media with the TikTok.
We'll be able to figure that out and keep that going.
But we'll be live on TikTok, YouTube, and ESPN Plus when Mark Caboli joins us.
Mark Caboli, formerly of The Athletic.
As of announced yesterday, he will be a correspondent for our show.
And I think there's other breaking news coming with Mark Caboli in a matter of moments. It's a huge day,
speaking of breaking news. It's not about
Bruce Brown, who's obviously in the
big chair, you know, with his big boy pants on.
New York Giants fans. There is a trade with the
New York Giants that we'll get into later, but obviously
it's for vastly different reasons. But let's head
to the talks at the table. At Ty Schmidt, you look great
today. Hey, thank you very much. You look great as well.
Hey, breaking news. Matthew Judon!
Oh, no.
Formerly of the Ravens, then the New England Patriots,
who was hurt for a lot of last year, did not get to play,
but is certainly the New England Patriots' best football player, people would say.
Can get to the passer, can set a tone.
Oh, yeah.
He's a leader, he's a vet.
But he sat out of practice his training camp during the padded period because he was looking for a new contract just like he was
last year. And although he didn't play as many games last year, he still believes that he's the
best player on the team. You have money to spend. I'm the one that should get it. Him and Coach Mayo.
In our first public altercation watching Coach Mayo be a head coach in the NFL, former player,
obviously then defense coordinator pseudo, then now he's the head coach. Judon, coach in the NFL, former player, obviously then defense coordinator, pseudo. Then now he's the head coach.
Judon, OG in the league, proven vet, very good football player.
Is that a distraction? Is that not a distraction?
Coach Mayo kicks him off field.
Says, hey, we don't need you out here, okay, if you're just going to be sitting down in the middle of a padded practice.
Next day, Judon's back on the field.
Okay, everything's been smoothed over.
Yesterday, boom, Judon traded.
Atlanta Falcons for a third-round pick.
Matthew Judon gone to Atlanta. Now, Atlanta, we have no idea Falcons for a third-round pick. Matthew Judon gone to Atlanta.
Now, Atlanta, we have no idea what they're going to be this year.
Rahim Morris is the new head coach.
He adds a weapon to the defensive side, which he is obviously a master at.
And I think, is this a decision of Judon saying,
get me the hell out of here?
Was this a decision of the Patriots saying, get me the hell out of here?
Was this decided during the sit-down opt-out at that night?
They go, hey, we'll try our best, okay?
We understand what you're seeing.
We feel the same way.
We're trying to build a culture.
We'll send you out of here.
We don't know, but we do know the Atlanta Falcons picked up an incredible player yesterday
for a third-round pick.
Boston Connor, obviously diehard New England Patriot fan.
How do we feel right now?
Ayuk says, I'm not going there.
Judon seemingly, potentially
says, can you maybe
get me the hell out of here? Or do you think it's the Patriots doing this?
What are your thoughts on it as a Patriot fan?
I thought it was the Patriots doing it more so than anything.
You know, happy birthday to Matthew Judon.
It's his birthday today, turned 32.
Okay, happy birthday!
A lot of ball left. Yeah, a lot of ball left.
And, you know, even though he
was injured last year, still productive in the four games that he played for us. I mean, it is of ball left. And, you know, even though he was injured last year,
still productive in the four games that he played for us.
I mean, it is a bummer.
He was one of those guys, you know,
similar to others that we've seen go who came in
and kind of was the new era New England Patriots,
the red sleeves everyone loved.
I actually bought a Matthew Judon jersey.
That's how much this guy was revered in New England,
and he always had great vibes him
coming up during press conferences how you doing good morning all that stuff you loved everything
about him now him leaving yes it is a bummer uh did it make sense as a new england patriots fan
to pay him i'm not sure did he deserve it absolutely no doubt about it he'll be great
in atlanta no doubt about that either but as a patriots fan no i don't hate anything about it. He'll be great in Atlanta, no doubt about that either. But as a Patriots fan, no, I don't hate anything about it.
He's looking for a new contract.
They're saying in Atlanta that he's not going to get one now.
Uh-oh, wait a minute.
The assumption would be that you're going to trade for a guy
and get him the Hassan Reddick situation being kind of an outlier.
That usually doesn't happen.
But then you look at Atlanta.
They told Bill Belichick to kick rocks.
They paid Kirk Cousins $180 million off of torn Achilles.
And then they drafted Michael Penick.
So I'm not assuming anything when it comes to Atlanta
because I kind of look at them as the NFC Jets at this point.
But I do think he should get a contract.
That's not fair.
We like the Atlanta Falcons.
Absolutely.
I like the New York Jets.
I think they're going to be great.
You picked them more in the Super Bowl.
Yeah.
Now, do I think that they make good decisions?
No.
Do I think that the Falcons make good decisions?
Absolutely not.
And I still like Raheem Morris, but I'm just saying they're the only team Bill Belichick
wanted to go to, and they said no to him.
But, no, this is a great trade for them.
Personally, I think it's a great trade for the Patriots.
You got guys, Keon White, Josh Uche, who he is more so the one after this year
you would hope that the Patriots play.
They gave him a one-year deal to come back.
He decided, hey, I could get more money elsewhere,
but I want to come back, play for Mayo.
So there are other options on the Patriots roster.
I think it's good that those younger guys will get a chance.
And I also wish Judon the best and that the Atlanta Falcons pay him because he
deserves the money. That's a big conversation. So a deal not being done is fascinating with
everything going on with Hassan Reddick, who was willing to leave the Philadelphia Eagles
because they wouldn't pay him. And then now he's proven that he's willing to leave the New York
Jets before doing anything before they pay him. Ison just saying okay I'd rather do is he just acknowledging I guess that okay I'm doing this last year just in Atlanta
instead of New England this was completely New England's decision that's why it's like
I'm very intrigued to see who and how this all came about because if they're handling this like
how they would and I'm not saying everybody's going to do it and we've given a lot of love
to Bill Belichick but how could you not greatest GM and head coach in the history of the NFL.
Stats prove it.
Numbers prove it.
Trophies prove it.
You name it.
Everything proves it.
But, like, this is one of those things where somebody comes in a team meeting,
allegedly, and says, yeah, we deserve to get paid or something like that,
and then the next day traded to the Cleveland Browns.
Sure.
Like, is this Elliott Wolfe potentially being like, nah,
we got to set a precedent here with Judah?
I don't know because it's all so new.
But I do know if the deal doesn't get done and he never plays for the Atlanta Falcons,
some of these GMs are going to be questioned for everything they do forever.
Let's assume this one, though, gets done and we'll see Judah on for the Atlanta Falcons.
Now, as we wrap up this Patriots conversation, let's head to Hammer.
Dad, Dad.
Because week two, officially, of the preseason kicks off this evening.
What's the spread tonight, Tundigs?
What are we looking at, pal?
Good afternoon, gentlemen.
The spread tonight between the Eagles and the Patriots in Foxborough is 3.5.
It was 2.5 yesterday and earlier this morning.
It has crossed that important number of 3 to 3.5 tonight
where the Patriots are favored minus
3.5. The total was 35.5.
Pretty standard preseason
total. The Eagles won 16-13
in their first game against the Ravens on a
last-second kick by Jake Elliott.
The Patriots dominated 17-3
in their opener against the Panthers. Tonight, you're not
going to see any of the Eagles starters
is the rumor going around, but a couple
of the rookies that have been standing out,
Will Shipley played well in the first game
and has been looking good in camp out of the running back out of Clemson.
And then Cooper Dejean, Cooper Dejean, Cooper Dejean started practicing two days ago.
So not sure if he's going to play or not tonight after the injury, but he should.
And then on the Patriots side, they haven't said exactly,
but probably going to get Jacoby and Drake and zip on the ball Zappy.
Amen.
And then, you know, the guy.
The guy.
The talk.
What?
Not the guy.
He's the talk of preseason, Connor.
We're going to see the Bazooka Joe show tonight.
That's right.
Then Bazooka Joe comes in and he's throwing to Jalen Polk and Javon Baker
and all the young
offense of the Patriots. I lean to
the Patriots tonight just because they'll probably play more
of their guys in the Eagles as well. Let's go to the
Gennardo Doppler. What's the weather look like? Yeah, unfortunately
it looks like 8 p.m., 9 p.m.
rain during those hours, so another rain game,
but to the Jalen Polk point, no more
Juju Smith-Schuster because he got cut.
Probably get a lot more Jalen Polk, Drake
May playing together. And now in time, what were they saying about the Eagles?
Big Dom's playing tonight? Yeah, Big Dom
I think is going to be suiting up at both
left tackle and I think he's going to get a little time at the end
as well. And that'll help him because
nobody talks about it more than us.
Soon as Big Dom got kicked off the
sideline last year for that altercation
with San Francisco 49ers, the Eagles
go straight downhill. And we were
maybe the only show that was like,
maybe this person, this swagged out paisano
who is seemingly everywhere but heard never.
Come from Pittsburgh.
I've met a few similar to the Big Dom.
Nowhere near in an NFL team, but in other teams, if you will.
So Big Dom became this fascinating character
that we all were kind of intrigued by and then whenever we see him get suspended from the
sideline team go downhill and then Jason Kelsey retires and the first person he says is Big Dom
Paisano you're the man yeah love you and then your word out of camp right now is Big Dom is kind of
stirring the entire drink here he's the one that kind of keeps the entire thing together. Big Dom has them all on the same page right now.
I'm not joking.
Talking with real D-God about the Eagles vibe, says J.P. Finley.
What a weapon.
This is like glue guy.
Yes.
This is glue guy.
Nuts.
Big Dom.
Is that the reason why the Eagles end up where they are?
Is that why Sirianni and Jalen Hurts allegedly were maybe not on the same page?
Is it because Big Dom's not around?
Possibly.
Look for the Eagles to make a big jump.
Is Saquon Barkley getting new experience?
Oh, my God.
Kidding me?
The Big Dom boost as well?
For the first time ever in his career?
He's probably been courting him for years.
I couldn't even fathom.
Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, is a similar type operation.
A man who, obviously, we've been a massive fan of for a long time, and how could you not be?
This guy is literally one of the most positively infectious human beings that has ever existed you watch a
video of him he can't help but smile laugh and say okay and that has been since the beginning
of knowing that he has existed he's a heisman winner a national champion entering his 10th season ladies and gentlemen cleveland brown james winston man pat i'm so honored to be on your show no jamis we are the ones that are honored boys
is that not true that is a thousand percent i got goosebumps right now yeah hey we got boost
goosebumps right little g oh no see too much electricity i know i know too much electricity actually just sent the connection into absolute wayfair no he's in cleveland in
ohio there's a lot of electricity everybody's excited the browns the dog pound it affects the
kid actually i think it's a lack of electricity their power's been out for like three weeks up
there yeah is the hamster not on the wheel? Really? Since SummerSlam?
It might have been the case.
It might have been Jelly Roll or that drummer, Cody.
Yeah.
The drummer, Cody, and Jelly Roll might have came together too strong for a power surge throughout the entire city of Cleveland.
And I want to let you know, I haven't asked them personally, but they are sorry about
that.
But that is something they're known to do, just like Beyonce at the Super Bowl halftime
down there in New Orleans.
That's right.
When Jelly Roll's on a stage and Big Cody's on the drums behind
them, sometimes it's a little
and the whole city has to feel the effects.
I get it. Makes sense.
The OTC too.
Sucking the energy out of that place.
The OTC obviously
coming through. Then you got
Mike Vrabel there. And then you got
this guy there.
And then Stefanski.
KO when he was sprinting out.
What's that?
KO as well when he sprinted out during SummerSlam.
Oh, okay, yes, we're going back to SummerSlam.
The Guardians to have the best record in baseball.
MGK was back in hometown.
EST, The Land, obviously.
Big Cut, he's making an album.
Joining us now is also a person that's there
that might be a part of the power surge that has really ran rampant through all of cleveland
the most electric human to ever play in the nfl jamis winston
we here all right all right we are here what's going on hey we are one to let you know that uh
we're honored that you joined us we appreciate the fact that it's out on the practice field
because we assume you're about to take a hundred to maybe a thousand extra reps as soon as this
conversation is over let's dive in shout the mez club by the way uh just learned about them like
within the last week plant Plant protein bars. Good.
Good. Delicious. These are good, right?
Excellent.
Oh, okay. Hell yeah.
If Jameis is wearing it and rocking it,
we know it's good.
We pulled it up here. There's a variety pack
where you can get all the different flavors.
Protein makes you feel good, but also
vegan if you need, so you can just
keep it moving. Feel your best self.
Be powered, but don't feel like you got to dump.
Love that.
Perfect.
That's mezcla.
Jameis, okay, thank you for joining us.
And I'm going to bring up some things that we have said on this show about you.
And we just want to know if you felt the same way in the moment or if we were accurate in saying it.
the same way in the moment, or if we were accurate in saying it.
We'll get to your Cleveland Browns time now,
because I think you are a massive benefit to that locker room,
to Deshaun Watson, to everything.
But let's go back in time.
When you were playing at Tampa, okay, and you lead the NFL in touchdowns, and then also interceptions, and then you go back to Florida State.
You win a national championship, and you win a Heisman.
It came out shortly after.
Were you blind during those times?
Because the way we talk about it is you were blind.
You were just a blind man.
And then you get LASIK whenever you get to New Orleans.
Are you the most accomplished blind man in the history of football?
And how big of a difference was it whenever you got your eyes fixed?
Could you see things a little better?
Well, I wasn't blind, blind pat but i'll tell you
what lasik is definitely a game changer just the fact that i was able to like actually read a stop
sign that was clear read the street signs without using the apple maps or google maps like uh it
really helped me out with my depth perception uh but uh a lot of times at florida state you know
i was squinting to look at the scoreboard. Typically, we were up, you know, most of the time when I was squinting at Tampa to look at the scoreboard.
You know, I was trying to see if I could change the score a little bit.
But it really impacted my game just in terms of seeing the depth of linebackers, identifying pressures sooner, and just processing information really fast.
Yeah, so you couldn't see shit.
Couldn't see a stop sign. Yeah, we got it. Yeah, so you couldn't see shit. I couldn't see a stop sign.
Yeah, we got it.
Yeah, well, we're happy you got your vision.
I am also somebody that got LASIK, and my life changed overnight.
It was like I walked into the Colts practice facility.
I had no idea what the roof looked like because all the lights,
everything's just so blurry.
I walked in, and I'm like, this is a beautiful facility.
Hey, you guys did good on this course.
Like, yeah, you've been here three years.
It's like, yeah, that was the first time seeing it.
Yeah, it's a whole game changer.
Happy to hear that was happening to you as well.
Let's talk about some of the off-season workouts now.
So, Clyde Christensen.
Oh, no.
Yeah.
This is terrible.
It's too electric.
Come on.
This is devil's work.
Jameis needs to be heard.
He does.
We need to hear Jameis
Every day
We got outstanding questions
Over the last couple years
So many
They're both outstanding
And they're also
Outstanding
Right
Because we haven't been able to ask him
For years and years and years
He was blind
Yeah
For sure
You had to look at his phone
To know what street to turn down
Couldn't see the stop sign
That's really bad
How about
How about when he's When I was at Florida State,
I was trying to see what the score was up there.
Normally, we're up multiple scores.
When I was at Tampa Bay, I was looking, trying to change one of them
because, remember, he was scoring for both teams.
Yeah, exactly.
But how could you not?
He had no idea if that person was on his team or not.
He just saw body where his playbook said body was supposed to be,
and he was throwing it.
Sometimes it was the other team.
That's not on him.
He didn't know.
No, well, what are you going to do?
Guy can't see a stop sign.
Depth perception, that's like the most important thing
when it comes to quarterbacking.
I think being a sniper, depth perception matters.
I think being a basketball shooter,
depth perception matters.
Dentist.
Dentist matters.
Golf matters.
Being a quarterback in the NFL, certainly one of the top ten.
I think.
Seeing the rush, being like, okay, that DN is like five yards away,
and he's literally like right here.
How about us being like, Jameis really, I mean, right down the barrel,
he had somebody.
It was like an objects in a mirror closer than they appear type situation
for him with his actual eyes.
Ladies and gentlemen, Jameis Winston is back.
Jameis, we're just-
Quick.
We're dissecting your last answer
about depth perception being figured out
and which jobs require depth perception the most.
Quarterback seemingly a top 10 job that needs.
Sniper in the military is certainly one.
Golf is one.
Dentist is a big deal.
Sure.
But quarterback, yeah, right, absolutely. Okay, so thank you for your insight. is certainly one. Golf is one. Dentist is a big deal.
Quarterback, yeah, right.
Absolutely. Okay, so thank you for your insight.
Let's talk about the off-season workouts now.
Clyde Christensen told us, he got a chance to be around you,
quarterback coach. He said, like, Jameis is the hardest working human, and obviously he's been around
Peyton. He's been around a lot of people in the past.
He said your work ethic is absurd.
So then in the off-season, whenever we see these workouts
that you're doing, is it literally just because you've
gotten bored of doing all the other workouts?
You're willing to try anything?
What is your workout mentality?
And whenever we see another video of something you're doing, how should we view it and think about it?
Well, my main mentality is to be position specific.
And every time that I'm doing a quarterback drill and I'm working, I'm doing something that I can incorporate with being out there on the field. I have, I go by the same name, my trainer talking about all the time,
pressure is from, for the unprepared. And when I first got into off season, it was like, it was,
I'm a first guy in the NFL. It was new to me because, you know, NFL, we didn't work out as,
as challenging as we were like in high school and in college so i always would try to
to to work as hard as i can and as efficiently as i can and sometimes i would end up being out
there three four five six hours just working just grinding uh trying to be the best man like i grew
up loving kobe you know derrick jeter like these are people that spend numerous hours uh working
and redefining who they are as a player so i just
i just try to give it my best yeah well i want you to know we appreciate everything you've given
to the internet you know yes hey some of those you when some are laid out to you like hey here's
the workout we're gonna do your immediate thought is yes it's gonna get me better or have you
questioned some of them too has there been some that have gone out that you've been like i know
it looks weird.
I thought the same thing,
but then the benefits are a big deal because like in my head,
I've just thought of like 10 things
that you have done with,
I mean, just so many different,
just so many different movements.
Was there any that you were kind of doubting
and then you reaped the benefits from
that you never could have expected?
Oh no, like the biggest thing about me
is my faith. So I don't doubt a lot of stuff
when i go into it i'm all in i'm always there i'm present uh i'm in the now so i don't doubt a lot
of things i just go and execute man i go and execute but a lot of my quarterback drills uh
that i that people may seem kind of kind of weird are informational drills like when you're in the
pocket right in this drill right here, I am straining.
In the pocket, obviously, I'm not going to be in the pocket for 30 seconds.
But those D linemen, my trainer was an NFL D lineman for six years.
He played for the Chargers, the Redskins, and the Miami Dolphins.
So when I'm in that pocket and I'm working things, I'm trying to –
obviously, I can do three-step drops and throw them rhythm all the time,
but a big part of the game is being able to improvise
and throw in a condensed pocket.
So that's something that I try to train.
Can't wait to see the next offseason.
You know what I mean?
Can't wait to see the next offseason, what you got going on.
Let's move to your time now with the Cleveland Browns.
And you said you're a man of great faith.
And there's a lot of people that just assume you're going to be a preacher, a pastor,
whenever you're done and probably have a massive congregation because the way you're able to put words together. You seemingly always up, always good vibes,
inspiring, rallying. We've seen you give pregame speeches. The W eating one obviously made the
most head waves this past weekend with the Cleveland Browns one. Home run. I think an
absolute home run. I think you would view view that do you see yourself as a future
preacher pastor and when you're speaking do you feel it's like an obligation of james winston
to like kind of lift the mood of everybody around you i just feel like i do whatever is required
you know ultimately like my my biggest congregation right now is on sunday when we out there
uh playing and working together as a team and millions of people get to see my light, get to see my light shine.
Me and my boys saying this little light of mine every night before we go to sleep, man.
So that's my prerogative.
I'm a man of increase.
I'm a man that's always trying to uplift, be optimistic, and encourage others.
I think that's a big part of being a quarterback.
And since I've been in this backup role that I've been in a few years,
I've used that as just a platform to show guys like hey no matter what role you're in you could still
be uplifting you still lift your teammates up you can still have that energy and come to work every
every day ready to go speaking of that for that reason i think you've alluded to this a few times
and you kind of just did there we feel like where you are right now
with the Browns in Deshaun Watson's quarterback room with where they can get to with how he can
play and how the last couple years have been you're like the perfect person to be back up
do you feel that as well and is that one of the reasons why you wanted to join the Cleveland
Browns yeah absolutely you know every time we, you know, what has happened or what's going to be,
I want to make sure that we recalibrate what is going on right now.
What is going on right now is Deshaun Watson is preparing to be a Super Bowl winning star and quarterback.
And what we do from today is the only thing that matters.
And today we have a joint practice against the Minnesota Vikings,
so we're going to go out there and have the best practice of our lives.
And I think that's what I bring into this room, is just letting him know,
like, hey, man, all we got is today. Tomorrow is not promised. Yesterday is forgotten. So let's
make sure we focus on being the best version of ourselves today, because we can look up on our
stats and some of the things that we lack. But if we're not focused on how we can be the best
version of ourselves today, then we're wasting time. How's Deshaun Watson taking your messaging?
Man, it's so funny. Every time our coach asks a question for us, like, does anyone have anything
to say? When we break down, he's like, bye. He knows I got something to say because it's
something I'm always going to keep instilling into him. Like, hey, man, we got to get better.
We got to keep going. We got to keep being the best version of myself. And when he's the best
version of himself, man, he's one of the best to ever do it.
I love that that pressure is seemingly just getting taken completely off of his shoulders.
Do you feel like that is the case?
Like you're there to make his life, I don't want to say easier, but also better in this whole thing?
Man, I'm here to do whatever's required, man.
He knows that to whom much is given, much is required.
And he is obviously the franchise quarterback of this team,
and he's looking forward to having a big year.
Hell yeah, we can't wait for that.
Let's talk about a new person in town alongside you.
Go ahead, Conman.
Yeah, Jameis, obviously we've seen all the clips of you and Mike Vrabel
racing up and down the field.
And I would wonder, and I have to ask,
who's winning the overall record between races?
But how has it been working with Coach Vrabel,
and what does he bring to the table?
Do you guys bounce pregame speeches off each other?
Maybe, hey, what do you think the team needs today,
or what is it like working with Vrabel?
It's been a privilege working with him, obviously,
because of the Super Bowl-caliber coach and player that he is,
but just the wisdom that he possesses from being in one of the greatest dynasties that the nfl has ever seen uh and coming off of being an nfl head
coach man he's just hungry he knows he's going to be an nfl head coach again uh probably pretty soon
uh by however he's taking this thing by storm our races are are sure competitiveness we just going
out there doing rothfors air We're sprinting to the other side.
We're setting the tone. It's one of the first
things that we do before we get into
our team periods. We just set the tone.
We let everybody know that, hey, we're here.
We're here to show up and show out. I just love
the leader that he is. I love the
little details that he's able to
give to our team from
a head coach's perspective
and as a player's perspective.
On your mic'd up that was released, I think, by the Browns,
you're standing next to him at one point during the game.
So, obviously, you guys have a great relationship.
And if we know anything about anybody, if they were able to be around you,
I think they would choose to do so.
I would like to be around Jameis Winston just because of the energy.
But as soon as somebody catches the ball, he's like, get up, feel good.
He's like coaching on the sideline.
Absolutely.
And he has like, I don't want to say he has no pressure,
but seemingly no pressure at all to be doing it.
It feels like what Cleveland has is special.
Now, Vrabel obviously knew you're new there,
but their culture had to be pretty strong to welcome in two new people
and for you guys to feel as comfortable as you are.
Do you agree with that?
Like, do you feel good about the culture that Stefans fancy and them have put together over there over the last few
years and how about this year going to the leadership man the leadership here is phenomenal
and it starts top down with our own owner uh jimmy and d haslam and it starts with igm uh andrew
barry and kevin stefanski like they are just doing an amazing job providing a supporting cast that is built for us to win.
Like, everything here, like, this is the first place that I've been that has a player development department.
Like, I am so blessed that we have people that are actually looking into how are we going to develop these players,
how are we going to be the best version of ourselves every single day.
And it's just so exciting just to to see the people here obviously you you've been
in in Indianapolis so you know the the importance of having a fan culture that's so important but
when you walk in the building and people are happy to be at work because they get a chance to to put
on Browns gear like just the love for this football team in the city uh is is amazing and you know and
I experienced that you know some in New Orleans, just all the support
and all the love for football
that they have. This place
is very similar, but
to a point where we're up north,
all we have is football.
All we have is the Browns. Obviously,
people say, oh, we got the Buckeyes too, but in terms
of the NFL, all we have is the
Cleveland Browns up here on this lake, and we're
looking forward to making some hay, and it starts with the people that are in the leadership roles
showing that they will do whatever it takes for this team to be successful.
I love to hear that. Not a lot of people have ever said that about the Browns in the history
of the Browns. Nope. So I bet you the Browns people and Browns fans are very thankful for it.
Have you been working, before we let you go, we know you got to walk through,
have you been working on your bark at all for that dog pound
i assume you're going to have a good bark by the end of the year for that dog pound out there well
you know i'm gonna be barking i ain't no puppy now i'm a big dog over here so i might make sure i'm
gonna have a big dog big dog bark you know what i'm saying we appreciate the hell out of you man
good luck this year thank you for taking time all you, Pat. I'm grateful for this opportunity.
Hey, we hope it happens again, bro.
All we have is right now. We're going to enjoy this.
Oh, we got us today.
That's why they call it the present. It's a gift, baby.
Ladies and gentlemen, so are you. James Winston.
Hey, James!
I'm just here to do what is required.
Anything needed, I'll do it.
Five?
How about Deshaun?
Hey, Deshaun, Yeah You got anything to say?
Hey, Deshaun, any thoughts about anything going on?
I think routes like this
But, like, to wrap it up
It's kind of your thing, isn't it?
Yeah
Do the
Do the thing, please
I didn't want to just openly ask him about the W
It seems too easy
He's probably been asked about that a thousand times
Yeah
Had to mention it, though, to him
He got a good little pop out of it
Oh, yeah
Every once in a while Every once in a while,
every once in a while, what you're
looking to do is not going to be perfection.
Sure. And the message
overall. The sentiment was there. They're trying
to eat a W. Everybody was.
Yeah, it's better than eating an L.
Yeah. Which is what he was trying to say.
There's two options here for dinner.
Okay? It's either a W or an L.
And I, alongside all of you, I hope, geez, unless there's people options here for dinner. Okay? It's either W or an L. And I, alongside all of you, I hope,
geez, unless there's people in here that want this,
we do not want the L.
We want the dub.
That was the message.
Now, how it got delivered,
certainly a little bit different,
but the Browns posted a photo,
a collection of photos from this past game.
One of them is Jameis eating a W.
So I think he is...
Yeah, it's aged well.
Yeah, I think he is benefiting. But aged well. Yeah, I think he is.
But you remember how loud it was in the moment.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
The visual.
You just didn't need the visual.
I think the message was great, like we just said.
But him actually going to eat his hand, I think, is where it kind of.
And he got excited.
Yeah.
He did get excited.
You know, you're all jacked up.
You're about to play an NFL game.
You get excited a little bit.
So, yeah, you might try to chew a couple of your fingers off.
So what?
That's commitment.
Exactly.
Which goes back to the point, what is required?
He thought at that point, non-on fingers, eliminating a couple of nubs
will potentially motivate the boys to get a dub.
I don't remember if they won that game or not.
Do we remember?
Ooh, I don't think so.
That's a big part of it.
Yeah, I don't think so.
Context.
Yeah, we knew that was good Saints.
Good Saints team.
Yeah, but what if it worked? What if it worked? I don't know. I Context. Yeah, we knew, like, good Saints team. Yeah, but what if it worked?
What if it worked?
I don't know.
Just looking around the circle, remember the Deshaun Jackson photo from that huddle when the speech was going on?
Yeah, there were certainly some people that aren't going to buy into every single speech, especially if you're not on your fingies.
Maybe they did.
Google's saying it was after a 38-3 win, so they won that.
Boom.
Boom. Boom.
Boom.
So I don't know.
Did it work?
Vindicated.
How about that?
Sorry.
Vindicated.
I think that was when he ate a dub
when he was with the Saints.
Yeah.
I think when he,
they lost that one
when he did it with the Bucs.
Okay.
Oh, so he brought it back.
Yeah, because he did do the...
So the sequel was better than the Ridge.
He worked on it.
He learned.
That's what he does, though, because that's what's required.
Got better.
I appreciate James stopping by.
They got a walkthrough, I guess, happening like a minute and 50 seconds ago.
Very kind of them to have him stop by.
They were a part of that.
Mezcla.
I didn't even know he was a fan of that.
It did hit my algo yesterday, these things.
So I guess it is...
I like protein bars. Yeah, but I'd rather have
some Mezcal, if you know what I mean.
Boozebag, Tony Dixon,
Hammer.
Tony, I don't know if you know this. There's some
news coming out that is
not necessarily fantastic. Matt Milano.
Oh. Paisano.
One of us. No way.
Yeah, injured last year, obviously.
And then injured at camp. I believe torn bicep. Oh, no. Shit. Torn bice way. Yeah, injured last year, obviously, and then injured at camp.
I believe torn bicep.
Oh, no.
Oh, shit.
Torn bicep.
Yeah, ESPN sources Bill is Pro Bowl linebacker Matt Milano,
who left Tuesday's practice injured.
Tore his bicep.
Now he'll be out indefinitely.
Milano wanted to go to surgery on his torn bicep
with the hope of trying to return later this season, possibly in December.
Now, obviously, January is playoff football,
so December would be the last couple weeks of the season, even in the extended season.
Milano was hurt last year?
Yeah, badly hurt.
Yeah, and they missed him.
Big time.
They missed him mightily.
And now in training camp, he's out indefinitely until potentially December.
Godspeed, Paisan.
That sucks.
I mean, Sal Capaccio legitimately came on here and was like, I don't want to harp on one guy, but it is so nice to see Matt Milano back on the field for the Buffalo Bills.
That does blow.
All pro po to Miami, veteran leadership, obviously, in the back.
He's gone.
A lot of people gone from that locker room.
Micah Hyde.
Micah Hyde also.
They were there for like 10 years together, gone.
Milano was a veteran leader, great piece to get back.
Man, that sucks, dude.
That's a big blow.
Because they, like Tremaine Edmonds,
go to the Bears because they were like,
hey, we still have Matt Milano.
Yeah, they did not have a lot of depth
at linebacker in the playoffs at all.
Yeah, and that was literally the...
They signed a guy like a week before he was playing.
No, that might have been the Steelers against the Bills.
Who did the Steelers sign four days before the game?
Jaguars, great.
Miles Jack.
Miles Jack, thank you.
Sorry, it wasn't the Bills.
I apologize.
But that did happen.
Yes.
At the end of the season, Miles Jack was not playing.
And then on Monday, he signed.
He was actually an electrician at the time.
Yeah, and then he plays.
It doesn't look like the Miles Jack we've seen, but I wonder why.
I think he was wearing like 59 or something like that.
Yeah.
Which, you you know not that
bad of a number but he was an electrician yeah yeah work yeah handyman doing his thing we appreciate
uh let's go to some nfl news that happened yesterday certainly a fascinating thing that
i don't think a lot of us have ever seen before you know if you think about the dallas cowboys
as a whole you think yourself wow seems like it's a cluster right now just everything is an absolute cluster so if you think about Jerry Jones he's getting
called out because Mike Greenberg came on here yesterday and he said he's the chief senator of
sports chief senator of sports this guy plays poker every single time with all these contracts
and he always loses has never learned his lesson and he's currently staring down a situation where
like four pillars of their team are either on the last year of their contract
or pissed about their current contract, and that's the speculation.
That's the noise.
There's no fans at their practices in Oxnard, California.
Now, I know the Rams and Chargers are obviously much more established brands
now at this point than whenever the Cowboys were going to L.A.
to kind of do the entire thing, but still, everything about the Dallas Cowboys has been,
this franchise kind of stinks, don't they?
Even though they won a bunch of games last year,
Dak Prescott was potentially going to be on the MVP conversation.
They lose in one playoff game.
The whole thing gets blown up.
And now we're staring down a lame duck year potentially
for the head coach, Mike McCarthy, who's on the last year of his contract.
That ripple effect through everything.
The fans turned on him seemingly.
The hype is no longer.
Players are pissed.
The team stinks.
Well, training camp, joint practice yesterday.
Dallas Cowboys did something I don't think I've ever seen before.
D-tackle.
Albert Huggins in a one-on-one drill pushes equipment manager
for Los Angeles Rams.
Obviously, a couple of LA Rams players saw what happened, chased him down.
If the audio was playing, you'd hear somebody saying,
what the fuck are you doing?
You don't push somebody who looks very young, an equipment manager.
I've never seen this before.
I think Los Angeles Rams were very confused
because you snap the ball whenever the center's doing a one-on-one
to somebody that acts as if they're the quarterback.
Their job is to get out of the way if they come close albert huggins gets a win
in his eyes which i assume the center would say not really quarterback slides the other side of
the pocket he's good we're in a good spot that is the conversation of one-on-ones but then albert
huggins just sees somebody in front of him shoves him down to the ground pretty big bump pretty big
bump from the manager yep and uh seemingly his own coach pushed him, his own players.
L.A. Rams guys, what are we even doing?
Everybody else was probably so dumbfounded by the situation.
You're pushing staffers, that is the case.
We learned he is a camp intern, just graduated college.
There are some people speculating, not only in this office,
but other places, that that was like a high school kid possibly
because high school kids do intern and ball boy for NFL teams.
That was a college kid.
So Albert Huggins, who's been around the NFL out of Clemson 2019 draft pick, he was immediately
sent off the field.
Immediately sent off the field.
Everybody's like, what is it?
You don't just push equipment, man.
That's stupid.
It's what everybody says.
Albert Huggins, guys, he was just a bull red.
What do you want from me?
Kick him off the field.
Well, then immediately afterwards, the Dallas Cowboys trade for an interior
defensive lineman from the New York Giants in Jordan Phillips.
So it seems like Albert Hopkins' career is potentially over.
Could be.
Yeah, it could be out of the Dallas Cowboys because Jordan Phillips was on
the Buffalo Bills for the last few years.
He goes to the New York Giants.
I assume Joe Shane enjoys him, gets through camp.
Now he's going to the Dallas Cowboys.
We assume that's not good news for Albert Huggins.
But for Jordan Phillips, you know, you're not losing any sauce.
You know, Albert Huggins might have been a guy that brought some sauce.
Sure.
If you do recall, Jordan Phillips had some sauce.
This is him in Philadelphia Eagles, and he told them Johns,
hey, none of your shit.
You ain't shit, in other words, and started with the crowd.
So Jordan Phillips going to the Cowboys wouldn't really be a conversation,
but the fact that it comes from a pushing of a staffer to an ejection to a trade
to, oh, we still get sauce.
I like the thought that the Jones family is like, we can't lose that.
I know we pushed a kid and a staff. We don't like that, but everything up to that we do like, we can't lose that. I know we pushed a kid in a stat.
We don't like that.
But everything up to that, we do like, right?
Who can we find that potentially feels devoid here?
And then Jerry goes, I remember.
Who's that fucking guy that was chewing out Philadelphia?
We hate Philadelphia Eagles.
Who's the guy chewing out Philadelphia Eagles, man?
Jordan Phillips.
Yeah, let's get him today.
Bring him in.
Let's get him today. He's in. Let's get him today.
He's in there.
Interesting predicament.
He's never played for the Giants, obviously, so Giants fans don't mind.
No.
But it is crazy to see these little things happen.
And one quick decision that Albert Huck, I don't think he knew what the hell he was doing in the moment.
Obviously, have to know what you're doing in the moment.
You can't just black out, push people, and do that and be in the NFL.
He's been around a long enough time to know that you can't just like black out push people and do that and be in the nfl he's
been around a long enough time to know that you can't do that been a journeyman too so he knows
that he isn't like a be who you can afford to be thing but the fact that that is reality in the nfl
okay you do something this stupid quickly bang boom off field trade somebody else in that's the
business of the nfl in a nutshell and the giants i guess will never get a chance to experience the
sauce that jordan phillips potentially brings no no i uh from boots on the ground he wasn't having the greatest camp so i
think he was third or fourth on our depth chart and he's uh slotted to be like you know second
or third on on the cowboys so kind of a good win for for jordan phillips as well all of this uh
just solidifies that we need the d-line netflix. Yes. For a deep dive into all these characters
and the happenings of the interior defensive line.
I've said it since I got into the football world.
Any football building you go into,
if you were to mosey to the D-line room,
that'll be the most entertaining room.
Stop in other places, just so you know.
Swing by the linebacker's room.
Swing by the quarterback. They probably won't let you in, but swing by the linebacker's room. Swing by the quarterback.
They probably won't let you in, but swing by the quarterback room.
Wide receiver, running back, offensive line room.
Certainly slide through a little bit of misery potentially there.
And then just poke your head into the D-line room
and just see what's going on.
Most entertaining group for sure.
Also, 280, 290, 310, running 4-8s, 4.7s, 4.6s.
I mean, it is a special group of people.
Feels like Albert Huggins is potentially in the UFL after that.
I don't know.
There's a chance he's in the UFL.
Canada, man.
I don't know if Canada's going to let –
Canada's like we saw, you can't get into our country.
Not this Canada.
And if you get into our country, you can't get out either, right?
That's right.
And there's a fee to leave, right?
Yeah, locking you in.
Yeah, you're screwed.
You're kind of just stuck wherever you are.
I don't know what happened, okay?
What are we talking about?
Gumpy got out, I guess, before.
Yeah, but it was tough both ways, wherever I was going.
Yeah, immigration is certainly something that is a topic of conversation.
Our topic of conversation about it
is about experiencing Gumpy being deported
for a 10-year ban
and having to go through the whole process was wild.
But now if you want to leave Canada,
I think you got to pay a pretty...
Like 10 grand or something, isn't it?
I think it's more than that.
I think it's a pretty...
Is it 28 or something?
Yeah, I think it's a pretty big fee or whatever.
And a year of fighting fires.
Well, that's a crazy...
Are we in the middle of that season right now?
When is that season?
The wildfires were really bad in Calgary.
They have slowed down though.
Last year they got so wild that we couldn't
even remember. We couldn't see.
The best part is they got so wild that they actually took some of the money
that they had for taking
care of the fires.
I'm sorry, Gumps.
We're happy everything's A-OK.
Speaking of fires,
this man, if you have a little fire,
let this guy's brain get by, big fire.
That's right.
Everything he does is big.
Everything he has been a part of has been successful.
I assume there's been some flops, but the successes far outweigh those.
Massive brain.
Obviously, he's a writer, a rapper, a brilliant businessman,
and a guy who founded the Big Three in its eighth season, I do believe, which is obviously incredibly impressive.
And their championship is on August 18th.
Joining us now, friend of the program, ladies and gentlemen, Icon Ice Cube.
What's up, y'all? How y'all doing?
Hey, I'm great, man.
Thank you so much for joining us.
We appreciate it.
And thank you for allowing us to be a part of, you know, the Olympic kind of figuring out how our three on three team thing happened. So let's
dive into it. As we remind some people who maybe didn't know our big three showing on the men's
side in the Olympics is crop. Okay. Absolute crop. Everybody was embarrassed by it. Ice Cube was
obviously a founder of the big three and watches his league every single weekend.
We're all confused about how no Big Three players were selected to be on the United States team.
They're professional three-on-three players, and they're some of the best players on Earth.
Did a little investigating.
Apparently, there is some tomfoolery behind the scenes.
But afterwards, Ice Cube wanted to offer up a massive jackpot to the Olympic gold medalists
to come play against the Big Three All-Stars on August 18th 18th they accepted but now FIBA's don't let it happen what's the deal right now
Cube where do we sit and how do you see this going boss man I mean FIBA scared you know without a
doubt you know they came with some technicality that you had you know they had they needed a
three-week notice uh 10 days is enough to figure out if you want to do it or not.
And so, you know, they blew a huge opportunity for these guys and for our guys and for sports fans and for the game of three-on-three.
You know, I mean, it would have got so much attention.
So, you know, we still got the money up.
You know, I mean, it's like, know let's let's give them more than three weeks
so they don't have no excuses and uh they could send a few more teams you know we can have a
a big cup you know what i'm saying like i like we can have you know a a little tournament and see
who's the best in the world for real for real i like that a lot and to be clear i did not know
that fiba who runs the basketball for the olymp, has their own professional three-on-three league.
Okay?
So, obviously, they're running the Olympic stuff.
They have their own professional three-on-three league.
Do they want to see big three succeed?
Certainly not.
Well, not if they're a bunch of hating assholes.
Seems like they're a bunch of haters of this entire thing.
Jealous, as opposed to wanting to grow both leagues in this entirety.
We got the email that was sent to the
Netherlands team, and at the bottom
they say you need three weeks due to
the CBA that has been agreed upon
before every player.
It was only 10 days, so they did pull
a technicality. The Netherlands players
wanted to play this. Bingo.
We all agree. I love the fact, though,
that the mindset is, okay, we'll
do this down the road. We'll give enough prep.
Let's make this thing even bigger, and hopefully
FIBA will get on board with this for
the good of three-on-three, which is a sport
I think a lot more people are interested in
after the Olympics globally. Do you agree with
that, Ice Cube? Totally
agree. You know, that's what we need to do.
I mean, it's, look, we got our
championship, our all-star
game our celebrity game on sunday in boston you know everybody check that out but after that we
wide open to create this uh big cup tournament where uh we invite you know the best three on
three teams in the world to come play and uh why not let's do it hey and if you'll have us just
like how i kind of inserted myself in this last one
By putting up $100,000
Would love to be a part of this as well
Come on, man
You gotta be a part of it now
Hell yeah, hey, come on
Come on
That's what I'm saying
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm not gonna
Yeah, yeah
Now, we're gonna have to do business with FIBA at some point here
So, yeah, I'm on this side
So, yeah, so
I love you
I know they're competitors at feeble you know
i know you know they put out a video uh you know showing what their game is all about and i'm cool
you know it's all fair competition nobody's gonna um lose a gold medal over this you know maybe not
this year but in 2028 you know we hope the big three players are involved in the outcome of that but for now
you know it's a friendly man let's have some friendly competition let's elevate the sport
of three on three let's get some attention of the world uh on the on the style of play and um
hey i think it's a great idea you know let's make it happen it's a showcase it's a showcase
exactly that's what it is it's a showcase. It's a showcase. That's what it is. It's a
showcase, an exhibition with a massive amount
of money on the line at the end
with a lot of eyes. It'll be good for three on three.
Ice Cube, I can't thank you
enough for allowing us to be a part of this and
also wanting to make sports better.
You know, your investment, your brain, okay?
You could have stayed in entertainment. You could have stayed in music.
You decided to come into the sports world
because of how big of a sports fan you are.
And we appreciate the hell out of that.
What's next?
What are you cooking?
What's on the books for Ice Cube?
I know you're in the middle of probably 100 things right now.
You know, working on an album called Man Down.
You know, trying to drop that right after the season.
You know, we got some movies cooked up that we're putting together.
And, you know, selling some teams. You know, we're going to cooked up that we're putting together and, you know, selling some teams.
You know, we're going to place these teams in cities now.
And you think that's going to unlock a big fan base and keep growing the sport.
You know, I'm a sports fan.
You know, I used to hibernate after the finals and wait for football to jump off.
And so I don't have to hibernate no more.
You know, it's all about the big three.
Hey, we try to hibernate.
We got to do a show every single day.
So we appreciate that you provide sports content for all of us.
Can't wait to hear Man Down.
You know, because if the finals are this Sunday,
he says he'll drop album after season.
Wait a minute, we got bangers around the corner from Ice Cube.
That's great news.
And in any of these movies, if you need a group of whites to be killed,
we'd love it.
We'd love, you know what I mean?
We would love to just, we told Jack Carr the same thing.
Like, hey, if you ever need just a group of white doofuses just to get sawed down, we are in for that.
Now, we're not going to be able to do the whole two-month shoot.
It's going to have to be a...
One day.
Because we got a day job.
We got a day job.
Yeah, I feel you.
Okay, all right
if you need to kill any whites i don't have nothing like that but uh i'll keep you in mind
bingo we're the right ones just like you are ladies and gentlemen ice cube we appreciate you
all right that's awesome there's gonna come a time where we get put into one of these things
and we're gonna die oh. Your head's chopped off.
Our cell, I cannot wait to hear the cells and see the cells.
The behind the scenes clips of all the shots
of like, wait a minute,
I think I just thought of a new one.
I'm going right on face here.
Getting a hundred squibs put on you.
And then IMDB, right?
We'll be on IMDB?
Oh, yeah, you bet.
We're a big deal.
For sure.
What's that thing?
They get the cards?
Oh, the SAG card?
Is that what we get?
Yeah, I mean, I think we probably would be in line to get one of those.
Listen, maybe we look desperate pitching ourselves publicly, okay?
Who's ever got anything that hasn't asked for it?
Come on.
You know what I mean?
Well said.
Squeaky wheel gets the oil for a reason cuz it's screaming
Hey, I fucking need some more. Yeah, that's right for us
What we're saying is hey if you just want to take a group out
We would love to be the group happily we could dress like bigger assholes somehow you better go whatever you need from us
Anything I'll keep you in mind
Whenever he's right something. 23 Drum Street.
Those white boys want to die.
Clean sweep, they said.
Imagine if we're just standing.
What if we're...
They're pedestrians.
I'm not even going to go with a cult group on a bicycle,
like rolling into something.
Hey!
Blast the whole thing.
That'd be awesome.
What a time. Anyways, that big three thing feels like a big deal why wouldn't you do it i mean it'd be good for fiba as well if they wait i mean if
it's after their season and then after the big three season like you said like if you're just
growing three on three as a whole like fiba would be okay with that too you would think you would
think but remember uh the conversation out of the Olympics, both from Wendy and players
that were kind of investigating,
former NBA people, basketball people as a whole,
Ice Cube publicly,
FIBA runs that, and they don't want NBA people.
Right.
Remember?
Wendy told us FIBA does not want
American basketball to win.
Correct.
Everybody thinks they want American basketball to win.
They do not want American basketball to win.
And to be in that three-on-three in the Olympics, you got to appear at like five of these FIBA events to even qualify
to potentially earn enough points to get onto a team to represent. So they kind of schedule people
that have either a retired life or maybe don't want to commit to a bunch of shit throughout a year
out of the thing. And that's kind of how they've been able to keep great players great names and big three people kind of out of it allegedly yeah and then whenever
they make this offer like hey august 18th let's do this thing they find in their little collective
bargaining agreement nope right here can't do it you didn't give us enough days so i like the fact
that ice cube uh is doing a little you know know, hey, okay, you're not, cool, we understand.
Middle of season, 10 days.
Sure.
Certainly in our minds, enough time to figure out
if somebody wants to come win $250,000,
but your players could benefit from this.
But we'll do this later then, and we'll figure it out,
and let's make it even bigger.
I love it.
Now, will they accept?
We shall see.
Yeah, TBD, we will see.
Probably not.
On FIBA.
Yeah, we'll see what kind of gumption they have. Yeah, what's the cut will see. Probably not. TBD on FIBA. Yeah. See what kind of gumption they have.
Yeah, what's the cutter, Jim?
Yeah.
We're about to learn, aren't we?
Oh, yeah.
Hey, FIBA, all eyes are on you, FIBA.
Do you want your players to earn more money, respect, appreciation,
and grow the sport that you guys love so much that you don't want to see
Americans win?
Come on over.
Let's do the three-on-three Big Thunderdome Cup.
Let's do it here.
Hey, there you go.
Let's do the Big Thunderdome Cup.
We'll put bleachers in here.
Yep.
I think it'll be standing up nice.
No home court advantage.
No home court advantage.
We'll commentate it.
Do it live.
We're obviously putting up a lot of the money for it.
Yep.
Big Three's putting up a lot of money for it.
Don't want to piss off your gold medalists.
Yeah, they want to do it.
Exactly.
Let the boys play.
We have locker rooms, showers.
Yeah, exactly.
Whole thing.
At Desjardins, we speak business.
We speak equipment modernization.
We're fluent in data digitization and expansion into foreign markets.
And we can talk all day about streamlining manufacturing processes.
Because at Desjardins Business, we speak the same language you do.
Business.
So join the more than 400,000 Canadian entrepreneurs who already count on us and contact Desjardins today.
We'd love to talk business.
Football!
It is wonderful, and week two of the preseason kicks off this evening.
Let's go to Hammer.
Don! Don!
Tone Diggs, what time we're at, who's playing, what's the spread?
We are. Tonight it is the Eagles at the Patriots.
The spread is 3.5. The total is 35.5.
I believe kickoff is 8 p.m. If I'm correct on NFL Network, you're going to see Kenny Pickett for the Eagles. You know,
last year had one of the greatest preseason of all time. We'll see if that continues. And then
the youngsters for the Patriots, including Drake May, who last week we saw him come and play in
the rain and just put on an absolute clinic, taking snaps, handing the ball off and dumping it off. We may see a little bit
more tonight.
I love that the game's at 7pm
and not 8pm, but
the reason why he said 8pm is because
8pm is when the rain starts.
Allegedly, and that's when the real game
begins. You're talking preseason
football and monsoon for the second
straight week for the New England Patriots.
That's what we're here for. That's when the game
starts. 7-8, though, we'll be
obviously watching and judging
who's going to make the team. Who's going to be a
starter? Who's an unsung hero?
And it's Big Dom.
The man
in Philadelphia. What's he going to do?
Call plays tonight, maybe. Maybe a couple
tackles. I hope so. That's the talk to the table.
That's Boss Connor and that's Ty Schmidt. Bruce Brown right there is part of the hammer don podcast which is a sports
gambling show that goes out of this thunderdome every single day that we are live uh about 15
minutes after we stop and you can find that at youtube.com and i'll tell you what hammer
don has been on quite a run yeah they have these boys are good gamblers oh yeah great now can that
change at any given moment, potentially?
Let's go to one half of the hammer.
Don Cowboys, Bubba Gumpino in the back.
Gumpy, how have we been gambling?
I know, is soccer happening?
I know you're the greatest footy gambler that I've ever encountered.
Big news.
I know you guys have been waiting for this.
La Liga actually kicks off today.
What?
Shut up.
Yeah, that's the one in the mix.
Spain. Spain. No way. Yeah, that's the one in France. Spain.
Spain.
No way. And then we got
Premier League.
All the major leagues
are back this weekend
except for the Bundesliga
in Germany.
Mbappe scored in his
debut yesterday, and
we're all the way back.
Mbappe.
Mbappe.
Mbappe.
Mbappe.
Mbappe scored his
first game.
And USA.
There you go. There's the biggest news. That's a huge get get I don't know if people realize how good of a manager Pochettino is
Mauricio Pochettino
And that's an AI photo of that man
There's no way that's a real photo
Of that man that we hired
There's no way that is what he actually looks like
That's an AI
That's the guy from SNL
This guy's a real deal.
Hey, Pechitino.
Hey, Paizo, welcome to the country.
You take Tottenham to a Champions League final.
You're a good gaffer.
He's from Argentina.
He's from Argentina?
That's huge.
Okay, that's where Methi's from.
Methi, also American.
So Argentinian, now American.
Right.
So shout out to Pechitino. I believe there's a. Argentinian, now American. Shout out to
Pechettino. I believe
there's a little bit of hold up, though.
I believe Chelsea still owes
him money, and he cannot
formally take the position until
that is... Chelsea is
maybe, what's the word for it?
The biggest assholes in world
football. Is that the word for it?
Besides what they're doing with Pochettino
and not finishing this so he can sign with U.S.,
they are just signing more and more players
and ruining players' careers because they won't sell them.
They have about 40 people on their team right now
that are all, like, world-class players.
What's Chelsea doing?
Who owns Chelsea?
An American, Todd Boley.
Come on, Todd.
Like the American, Puccettino.
Get back here and coach the boys.
You would think he would.
How dare they do that to our punch.
That's our punch.
That's our punch.
Todd Boley owns Chelsea too?
Todd Boley.
Todd Boley.
Todd Boley.
B-O-E-H-L-Y.
It's Caboli's brother.
Caboli will be on the show next hour.
They do look alike.
Mark Kaboli potentially a part of the family that owns Chelsea.
Also definitely a part of our family this season.
Can't wait to chat with him in about an hour.
Joining us now is a man who has all the soccer scoops.
From Manatee, Ohio.
College football national champion.
Super Bowl champion.
All-time leading tackler for the Green Bay Packers, A.J. Hawk.
We got our guy.
Maybe if Pichettino's a lot out of the Chelsea club.
We got our guy. Liga's starting up. We got our guy. M. If Pichettino's a lot out of the Chelsea we got our guy. Liga's starting
up. We got our guy.
Mbappe's doing his thing.
Soccer's on fire, AJ.
Yeah, soccer's back.
A big offseason that they had. I guess we
took about 10 days off and here we go. We're back
to having tournaments every single weekend and each one
is their version of the Super Bowl.
I can't wait for soccer season. A lot of Super Bowls
in soccer. Yeah, well, they have multiple NFLs.
Yeah, we got the League's Cup this weekend in the MLS as well.
Who's in that one?
Riverhounds?
Columbus knocked out Inter-Miami during the week.
What?
So, Messi's not even in it.
Messi's not playing.
Messi's not.
He'll be back for the playoffs.
Yeah, he's definitely done.
These are the playoffs.
Wait, the MLS Cup isn't the playoffs?
This is not the playoffs.
The playoffs happen at the end of the season for the MLS Cup. Now, remember, we learned this last year because Meth. Wait, the MLS Cup isn't the playoffs? This is not the playoffs. Remember? The playoffs happen at the end of the season for the MLS.
Now remember, we learned this last year because Methy
debuted in the MLS Cup. They win four
straight games, five straight games, and then
whenever the actual MLS season came back,
none of those games counted. So
Miami was in dead last still because
before Methy got to Miami, they were
cropped. So then they're very good, and then
no, none of those games counted, remember?
Then we moved on. They didn't make the playoffs.
Now, Methy gets hurt in international play.
That ankle looked like it was a damn soccer ball.
He's crying.
What is it?
Crying.
Because the potential last international appearance ends with him,
obviously, with a balloon for an ankle.
And now, with how long the MLS season is left,
they're saying he might not even play.
He might not even play the rest of the year.
What's the name of the trophy if the MLS Cup isn't the MLS Cup?
So there's the Supporter Shield for best regular season.
Who?
The MLS does do it a little bit different than most leagues.
Because most leagues, you just win the league and it's over.
MLS has their league, and then they also have a playoffs at the end.
Most other leagues do not do that.
Is this a mid-season tournament?
League's Cup.
League's Cup is a mid-season tournament.
It's with, how do you say it?
Liga MX?
Yeah, it's Liga MX and MLS.
And?
GPSL or whatever.
No, that's a different cup.
That's a U.S. Open cup.
That's the NASL.
Anyway, let's move along.
AJ, massive trade yesterday in the NFL.
What the fuck, dude?
No kidding.
That's probably a big part of the problem.
That's so poor trope.
He always got footy.
It's the best.
Never stops.
It's what we want.
We need the league MLS from our brains for the rest of our lives.
No, we don't.
It's just the League's Cup, the U.S. Open Cup.
They just got Olivier Giroud with LAFC.
Marco Reus.
Marco Reus is on LA Galaxy.
MLS is cookie.
I want the 14-year-old to play.
Basketball.
Yeah, me too.
No.
Come on.
Cav needs to stay in soccer.
We need him for the future, especially if we're getting Pugetino.
Yeah.
So, like, the whole...
No, you're right.
The whole thought...
Pugetini blows, probably.
That's what I'm...
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
He's a great gaffer.
He's a good gaffer.
Is Chelsea good?
Is Chelsea good?
They were good the second half of the season.
Gumpskis said he's an excellent gaffer.
He is a great gaffer.
Great gaffer.
You don't get to a Champions League final without being a good gaffer.
Especially in Tottenham.
Nonetheless, my issue here is.
It sucks.
Yeah.
The sport.
Hold the phone.
Hold the phone.
The MLS was like this.
Okay?
MLS was like this.
We got Bluendor.
Yeah.
Okay, we got Bluendor.
We got Olivier Giroud coming in.
Yeah.
Okay, we got.
Marco Reis. Boom. Royce. We got Olivier Giroud coming in. Okay, we got – Marco Reis.
Boom.
Reis.
All these people who are so good.
We got Suarez down there.
I think Breck Shays potentially gets signed back to a team.
Oh, I hope so.
If that happens, everybody will watch.
Me.
Jeff Cameron and Me, I think, are about to be playing for a team.
And if they're playing, we're definitely going to watch.
But then we get the new one, the next one next one yep youngest 14 year old and like yeah whenever he becomes anywhere
near an age that he can agree to he's out of town why why is he not staying in the mls
that homegrown guy why is he why is he immediately getting shipped away three years from now whenever
he potentially gets good is the mls kind of crop i I mean, you get a chance to play for Man City.
You're going to play for Man City. Philadelphia Union?
We heard this with Paul Ithac.
Okay. Hey, we got the next guy.
As soon as he gets to, when he's of age,
I'm sure the U.S. soccer team is going to be great.
We lose to
the man.
Come on.
Pat, would you rather play for the Chiefs or the Riverhounds?
I'm out. What'd you say? Would you rather play for the Chiefs or the Riverhounds? It's time. I'm out.
What'd you say?
Would you rather play for the Chiefs or the Riverhounds?
Watch your mouth.
And it's the Riverhounds or the MLS.
Yeah, exactly.
Make him play football.
He'd rather play for the Chiefs.
I bet he can make a kick.
We have enough football players.
I bet he can make a kick.
Cav can make some kicks.
There's 500 tournaments, though.
Couldn't you just play in your whole MLS season and then go overseas and do it?
You don't get it.
I know.
You don't know.
He's not splitting time in the MLS
and other leagues. The MLS is the best league.
You get in the MLS, you don't play anywhere else.
Anyways. Yeah, that's what they say.
Rumor has it he'd actually rather just go to
biology class freshman year than play
in the MLS. No, he loved his time
out there. He had some sauce, he had the hair, he had
the look. That's what they're playing for.
Which time? Which time are they playing for
this one? Is that the Supporter Shield? Is this the MLS pre-playoff? This is the MLS Cup. That's what they're playing for. Which time? Which time are they playing for this one? Is that the Supporter Shield?
Is this the MLS Cup?
This is the MLS Cup.
That's the actual playoff winner.
That's the one Messi will come back for.
Is that the champion?
Who's the champion?
No, because I thought the MLS Cup was happening.
That's the league's cup.
I mean, it's a lot better than the...
Oh, my God.
Come on.
Follow the sport.
Let's move along.
Let's talk about a sport we understand, okay?
And we do appreciate the fact that soccer was our sport for numerous years in our eyes.
Yeah.
And then it very clearly wasn't.
Yep.
We had a good run.
We did.
It was so much fun whenever we were better than everybody else.
Even though I guess we were not, turns out.
But in our eyes and in our minds, we were.
That was fun.
That was a real fun time.
It was.
Now we need Coach Meola back.
Let's get Grella maybe with a whistle.
Let's get Meade
and Jeff and Breck Shea back in the fold.
Gordo Gerson. Bingo.
They need a little bit
and the Indianapolis
Outlaw.
We need
more Contefa in that
U.S. camp. We need just less
soccer overall.
Let's just
eliminate
the soccer leagues.
You're talking about soccer like it's lacrosse.
Well, no, because we're not talking
about lacrosse. It's not the ice cream of tomorrow
or whatever it is. I mean, it could look like the
Shopify trophy that lacrosse has
or whatever. I mean, that was the M Shopify trophy that lacrosse has or whatever.
That was the MLS Soccer Talk Cup Cup Cup.
We are done with the Soccer Talk.
Burnley just won, too. We can't forget that.
Burnley won a game?
Oh, yeah. Kicked some ass.
They actually just signed Ronaldinho's son.
J.J.'s opening next.
J.J.'s finally opening the wallet a little bit.
That's good news. He's coming to the G League this year, too. That guy's opening the wallet a little bit. That's good news.
He's coming to the G League this year, too.
That guy's just flexing, walking around
so jocked.
Is that guy ever going to take any of those muscles
and open that wallet to pay somebody to come to Burnley?
They couldn't find a coach.
Couldn't find any.
They left the good league.
They go down.
Now it'll be real fun watching them beat
a bunch of B-leaguers. Yeah, but if they win
this league, they're back up, right? Yeah.
And then guess what? Next year,
you know what happens? What? They lose every game again
and go back down. They didn't lose every game. They tied a few.
You're right. Excuse me.
So, they have to win this league to get in or top three?
Top three and then there's a tournament where
a fourth team goes up as well. We're sitting
pretty. And then there's a lot more teams
though, right? Aren't there like 30 teams?
There's 20 teams in this league.
Yeah, but there's only one Burnley.
Good luck out there.
Especially Rod.
Up the Clarets.
Up the Clarets.
He's watching that on a computer
because I guess it's not easy to find everywhere.
You think if you own the team,
you could get something to watch on TV?
Well, I think he could.
He's always working out.
He's got to keep the computer with him.
Yeah, I'm sure Tyler's got a nice setup
in his fantasy factory down there to watch it.
You're talking about Dude Perfect? Yeah. Tyler hasn't
seen one bird. Let's move
on from soccer. Shout out to soccer happening
and being available for Gumpy
to gamble on. Yes. Because he's
good at it. Very good.
He is. He can find the winners.
And that is what Hammer
is all about. let's talk about the
massive trade yesterday matthew judon uh moves on from new england down to the atlanta falcons for a
third round draft pick judon who was looking for a new deal with the patriots for the last two
seasons uh last year ended early because of injury came into this year healthy ready to go
but oh yeah we still need to figure out the contract situation from last year.
Obviously, had the moment with Coach Mayo during practice
when he opted out of the fully padded practices, but he was there.
He gets sent off the field.
He's back the next day.
We all think it's kumbaya, Judon and the Patriots.
They'll figure this out.
Then yesterday, boom, Judon has been sent to Atlanta.
Obviously, a phenomenal football player, AJ. What do you think this is about? Was this New England? Was it Judon has been sent to Atlanta. Obviously a phenomenal football player, AJ.
What do you think this is about?
Was this New England? Was it Judon?
Who do you think really won in this entire thing?
Well, it feels like Judon obviously was trying to get
whatever the new deal he wanted from them.
They were unwilling to do that.
But, okay, the fact that he doesn't have a contract,
you would think, especially with the whole Hassan Reddick situation,
the agents, everyone talked beforehand.
They felt pretty good.
Don't they have to be close or almost agree into terms
to have pulled the trigger on this?
You would assume with what's happening right in front of our face
at a pretty similar position in the same division as the Patriots,
the Patriots don't care, I guess, at all, if that's the case.
But Atlanta should certainly feel very confident
that a
deal is going to be done or near done or Judon's okay just playing out the final year. And then
that's the whole other angle. Like maybe Judon was like, cool, I'll just play out this year and
I'll keep it moving. And Elliot Wolfe at night was like, I didn't like the way he handled this
and was like, let's get him out. You don't know who, right? We still have no idea how this came
about or who wanted it more or why it happened.
Maybe this is just the New England Patriots saying, hey, we're going young.
We're punting.
We're getting new culture.
Let's just move along.
We can get a third rounder.
Apparently, there was other teams that were interested.
The Chicago Bears were interested.
I believe the Dolphins were interested.
There was a few teams that called and were part of it.
The Texans, I guess, made a brief little, hey, how's it going up there?
I assume anybody that knew this was possible potentially looked into it
and was interested.
Third rounder, the best option.
And then if he doesn't get a deal done and doesn't play, boy, I mean,
with the Penix stuff, with the Kirk Cousins stuff,
with the offseason stuff,
it'll certainly be quite a talking point for everybody
about how you can't have this happen
while the biggest situation in this particular thing
is happening at the same exact time concurrently.
So let's assume that they've sorted that already behind the scenes.
Yeah, and if that Wolf-Judon conversation might have happened,
like, hey, okay, fine, I'll just play this year out,
and then we'll go from there,
and I'll just leave and go somewhere else.
Then it is like, all right, thank God we got got a third round pick for him if he was leaving no
matter what but it does open the door you hope those young guys just come i mean does it matter
is the new england patriots now no because they're not going to be in it at the end so
in the grand scheme what are you talking about in the grand scheme every game you have an update
the year we were 2 and 14 or whatever we are one score games and nine of them. Last year, the Patriots.
Three and 14, but eight one score
games.
You guys won the Super Bowl this year.
Well, no.
We know that's not the case, but we could
hang tough.
We could be a real gritty team.
I know that.
Cover some spreads.
Nine and a half points against the Bengals week one?
See you there.
I'm taking the Pats, baby.
Yeah, but also, moving on from Judon tells you what, though, as a Patriot?
Like, the expectations for this year aren't like,
hey, let's go to the playoffs and let's make some noise.
Like, the expectations are we've got a bridge quarterback in Jacoby Brissett who's on a one-year deal.
We've got a very, very young defense
in that there's a ton of cap space for this year and next year. So if some guys
perform like a
Josh Uche, who's on a one-year deal, then you can
reward them with an extension in-season.
Throwback jersey all
of a sudden on this throwback Thursday.
I'm going to frame that one. It's going to be worth
a lot of pennies in a couple years.
Nobody's going to buy it? You don't think? You haven't got any...
Had some inquiries, but nothing
that really tickled my face.
You need to take that to Facebook Marketplace.
That is maybe the spot.
Or eBay, potentially.
Maybe I keep it.
Because who knows?
Maybe the next number nine is some mean cuss.
And I just change the back plate.
Because I really wish I did that with my Mac Jones jersey.
I'll tell you that much.
Yeah, there's a lot going on in New England.
We have no idea how they're going to handle any situation.
Because it's all brand new. you know so who knows what this
is and what are the atlanta falcons saying with this move like you know because this is a one-year
deal seemingly if they unless they work the long-term deal if they end up working a long-term
deal which would make much more sense it's like raheem moore is saying hey this who we want to
build around this is kind of how we want to do just just like Chicago did with Sweat last year. Speaking of Chicago, ladies and gentlemen, a Chicago legend.
A guy who immediately upon starting to play football became a body mover.
I believe he's a rookie all-pro and pro bowler and literally was until he just chose not to be anymore.
I think an injury happened, kicked tires a little bit.
But the only thing I'll remember is that one of the most naturally talented human beings
to ever play football at the offensive line position.
I think it's how everybody views him.
Chicago Bears legend, ladies and gentlemen, Kyle Long.
Yeah, Kyle!
Thank you very much, Pat, and all the boys.
It's great to see you guys.
And that's a great intro.
You guys have me laughing there with the soccer conversation, the New England stuff.
It's interesting, the New England stuff.
But we want to talk Bears today, baby.
Chicago Bears on the tip of my tongue.
Okay, we'll talk Chicago Bears.
We will certainly talk Chicago Bears.
And we've been talking a lot of Chicago Bears, which, to be fair, has been a little weird.
It's new.
It's been very new.
We're learning a lot, which we appreciate.
And we will certainly ask for more information.
Let's visit that Judon trade from New England to Atlanta real quick,
just to get your take on it.
Obviously, you've been around the NFL forever.
You understand it's a business more than anybody that would ever talk on the subject.
What do you think this is?
Do you think this is Elliott Wolfe kind of wanting to set a precedent?
Do you think this is them just saying, like,
yeah, we're not going to pay you, doing them a favor?
Send them there.
What do you think this is for the Judon trade to Atlanta? I think it ends up being a win-win for everybody
because as we know, Judon is such a spark plug for any group that he's on. And when he's on the
field, he makes people better. And look, the guy wants to get paid. And if it's not going to be
what he wants to get paid in New England, he's got to go somewhere else. They get a third rounder
out of this thing. You've got a young quarterback obviously on the shelf there and Jacoby Brissett
as Connor was saying, is
the bridge. Are you punting to next
year? Are you saying we're going to start a culture
here that doesn't have
miscommunications on the sideline
in practice with the head guy?
We're going to show early what doesn't
fly and I think it could be good for Judon,
could be really good for the Patriots down the road.
And good for the Falcons too, obviously, because they're getting a player and we'll be
excited to see how it's used let's go to the Chicago Bears now now I said this earlier when
I was talking about you and the Chicago Bears there was a time I assume you always had love
for the Bears but there was a time where publicly maybe you weren't as outspokenly behind the
Chicago Bears now it seems like you're at a point where you're like back in love, remembering all the,
is that true?
Is that an accurate kind of read of your relationship publicly with the Bears?
As all three of us in frame know, it's tough when you step away from the game
and there's certain emotions that you're not really prepared for.
And as a former Bear now, I've matured and understand
and have a little bit more perspective.
When I first got out of the game, it was tough.
I took everything personally, but I didn't realize
we all get old and banged up, and none of us
can do it forever. Will Compton's still trying to get
that year 10, but it won't happen.
I don't know. I seen him take the trash
out the other day, and it was...
He was moving pretty good, driving the legs.
Pretty agile.
He's got a little one he's chasing around. That's why he looks
so damn athletic now.
But as far as my relationship with the Bears,'m excited i'm a bears fan and you know this league
is one that requires a superstar to get you to the pinnacle of it to get you there and to win
the super bowl and we saw the closest thing to a superstar come this close last year in brock
purdy and and who ended up being the uh the super villain at the end
Patrick Mahomes so you need a superstar and I for whatever reason uh it's been like a stench on this
Caleb Williams guy since I met him at the top studio uh in New York City when he won the Heisman
he brought his offensive line with him to New York two years ago and I got to shake his hand
he was personable he seemed immediately to me like somebody who has the required confidence.
And as you know, you need a superstar in this league.
Chicago has themselves a superstar,
and they've given him some really good co-hosts to the show
that are put on every Sunday.
Yeah, they've built it up around him.
I actually told Coach Iberflus yesterday about the narrative
that the Chicago Bears are going to ruin this once-in-a-generation superstar,
a lot of people said.
And it feels like with the way the team is built right now,
and it's almost like the best. And I said this yesterday, and it got quoted by somebody in
Chicago, and I appreciated this. So I saw a lot of reaction to it. But it's like,
I genuinely feel, and I haven't done the research, so I should dive in. This might be the best spot
a number one overall quarterback has been dropped into in some time. It's not their number one pick.
It was somebody else's number one overall pick and everything that they invested into helps the
quarterback. We got you two number one wide receivers, okay? Keenan Allen and DJ Moore.
We got two number ones for you. We got a running back that's proven and fast. We've invested in
the offensive line and the defense is sound. It's like that is a setup for a quarterback more
specifically as opposed to like Bryce Young, what he gets dropped into and how it ends up working That is a setup for a quarterback more specifically
as opposed to Bryce Young, what he gets dropped into
and how it ends up working out.
And before that, Andrew Luck maybe because we had immediate success
and the people that were on the team, even though we didn't win the year before,
possibly a good setup.
But this feels like a dream setup for a quarterback,
and Caleb feels like the right guy.
Do you agree with that, Kyle, or no?
I do. And this entire team, not just the offense, is getting a shot in the arm. You look at the way
that this defense finished the season last year and the ride that they took this football team on
and the emotional connection that everybody had with Justin Fields at the end. But look,
Bears fans, we retained this defense that you love, that we all love. The rushers are great.
Sweat was an amazing addition uh but then now we get a
huge tide coming to raise everything up on the offense and as you know it starts with the
quarterback and you mentioned uh dj moore and keenan allen but i have to you know also give
praise to roma dunze it's a guy that uh you know in the same conference as caleb williams in college
and he was asked after his career who would you want to play with um from this draft class and without the sentence being finished he's Caleb Caleb Williams
without a question and to see them together it's a dream come true I remember coming in with another
rookie named Jordan Mills started with me at right tackle it's nice to have a guy in your situation
that you can uh that you can talk to in and out of the meeting rooms and communicate with on the
field and I think they're gonna have a great relationship as well that AJ Cowher I assume that you can talk to in and out of the meeting rooms and communicate with on the field,
and I think they're going to have a great relationship as well.
All right, AJ.
Kyle, I assume you've been watching Hard Knocks. There's only been, what, two episodes come out so far with the Chicago Bears,
but how do you view it?
What do you think about what it looks like?
I mean, everything you're watching, I know everything looks glamorous and awesome,
but they look like they're actually a team that they're buying into the culture
and that IbraFoist is in charge and seems to be very confident in where he's going.
So my barber for the beard, I don't have any hair anymore, obviously, AJ, but the guy who does my
beard in Chicago is Iberflues' barber. I have not been watching because I want to binge watch it.
And I've been seeing all the social clips. You can't miss it on social media. But yeah,
it looks like they're having fun.
It looks like a team that has a fighting chance and they know it.
And I haven't seen that in Chicago for a while.
They've got a guy they can rally around.
It's exciting, man.
Yeah, I think Rome's rookie performance and then the reaction to the room.
I think you can learn a lot about how bought in a team is to those types of moments.
Like, with your brother's team in Philly, there was a team meeting.
I think it was before the NFC Championship game.
And hold up, wait a minute.
And the whole team in the team meeting room was, like, even, I think, like, fat whites in the back were, like, all, you know.
And as soon as I saw the video.
They got the backup guards dancing, too.
Yeah, yeah.
And it was, like, team meeting.
And, like, everybody's, like, standing, like, the coaches. And as soon as I saw it video. They got the backup guards dancing too. Yeah, and it was like team meeting and everybody's like standing,
like the coaches.
And as soon as I saw it, I think we were traveling,
I literally saw the video and I was like,
this is the team that's going to win you.
I think that's a big deal and it doesn't get talked about a lot.
I think Hard Knocks actually can showcase that.
Yeah, Hard Knocks does a great job of it.
I've obviously seen it in the past. But really, it's the offensive line.
They find a way to give their guy a little bit more time.
As my dad would always tell me,
you never know when that extra effort is going to be the one
that gets your quarterback's hip clear in the pocket
to make that sports center top ten throw.
And you could be in the clip.
The whole group could be in the clip.
Finish your block.
You've got to go get A.J. Hawk's ass and get him blocked
because he will make the play. They don't want to be that guy. The offensive line in Chicago does not want
to be that guy. And it's reflected in their plan. We saw it in preseason week two when Caleb was
getting snaps live. How many times you and A.J. play against each other? I can't remember because
he hits so hard. Oh, so you got a concussion. He said zero documented. That's what he said.
Did that make sense for him to say that?
There is no record.
There's no record of any interactions between me and A.J. Hawk
on the football field.
Is that real or no?
No, I think Kyle tried to submarine me off a pile a few times,
like put his head down and tried to submarine.
I respected the move.
We always had fun.
I love A.J.
Kyle's the best.
Dude, you played
so hard, and we had so much fun, and I wish I felt as good physically as I did when I was trying
to get you blocked. Your head is so hard, just to let you know. I remember the first time I came out
and Kyle came out, we, boom, head and hands, both of us, and I remember talking after. Of course,
Kyle's pushed me like 15 yards after the play. The whistle was gone, keeps pushing which i was like hey i respect it i respect it just don't push
me in the back but i remember talking about how hard his head was for real we don't plays played
super hard too at the same time yeah kyle you were an absolute weapon as a human and you know and i i
talked about it at the beginning of the show like i think everybody that knows you said like baseball
could have been a guy too like anything you would have done, I think the first
time I saw you were in a gym in LA
and you were running and it was like,
what is this thing?
You're not supposed to be built like this. And then obviously
you go whatever number in the
draft to Chicago and then you make the Pro Bowl
immediately afterwards.
What pick were you?
I was the 20th pick.
As a guard. I, like, you know.
I think the next pick was Indy, actually.
I could have been a Colt.
I don't know if that would have been great.
Like, could have been good, you know.
I think it would have been great.
I had a good visit.
I ate some seafood with the old GM down there on my visit.
It was a nice town.
Saw there's a little par three out front, too.
Yes, there is.
Jim Mercy built that.
Yeah, Jim Mercy built that.
I think it's been used four or six times maybe
over the entire time.
Would have been a blast to have you.
We would go on to draft Bjorn Werner.
Sure.
Sprekenzy does, yeah, yeah, yeah, the whole thing.
But do you think baseball, you could have made it?
And why do you think the offensive line mentality
is not an easy one just to pick up?
Especially with what AJ's saying, like finishing through,
that whole thing.
Were you always an offensive lineman while you were playing baseball?
So, baseball, the MLB's implementing a rule where starting pitchers
will have to throw six innings.
You can't just be pulled if you're getting shelled.
Don't quote me on this, but I saw a tweet from MLB. They're thinking about implementing
this rule. I think I would have done well in that
environment because I would have kept it together.
We've all given up sacks to Julius Peppers
and it's akin to giving up home
runs in baseball, but the thing about
an offensive lineman, nobody's coming to pull
you out.
The cavalry's not coming. Julius
Peppers is going to go line up again and
he's going to try to get another one.
And it is almost exponentially harder after he gets the first one
to stop him from getting the second.
And that's why they have relief pitchers, long, middle, setup, and closers.
But in the offensive line business, they don't do that.
And when I first started playing offensive line,
the quarterback was my younger brother, Howie.
Shout-out to Howie in Vegas.
He's crushing it out there in sales. Shout-ie hey move those hey move it move product he got
into the NFL when I did he was in pro scouting for a while but now he's in sales because he's a
great dude and people respond well to that but he was the quarterback in high school and dad said I
think you might enjoy playing football your brother's going to be the starting quarterback
next year and he could use your help.
And that's where it started, and I've always had my guys back.
You know, before or after the whistle, at the bar, in traffic.
I take pride in that.
And, you know, that's what being an O-lineman's about.
You're the man, Kyle.
I've got a chance to hang out with Kyle a few times.
Legendary.
Just good vibes, brother.
Good vibes all the time with Kyle Long. I appreciate all you guys are good vibes that's why everybody
loves you so so much all of you you know it takes a village right and you guys are doing it so
we are a village aren't we yeah we do we do have good vibes we do don't we yeah yeah sometimes you
know you gotta like when you guys were talking about soccer, for instance, you had very negative vibes about soccer.
You said less soccer.
Stupid.
That's a great point.
That's a great point.
Thank you.
Got to be super positive, Gumpy.
Bad vibes when we're talking about soccer.
All right, let's get back.
We appreciate you, Kyle.
Sorry, we're not good at the compliments thing.
Please keep them to yourself.
We will send them your way, though.
Connor has a question for you.
Yeah, Kyle, a team we know that's going to be in at the end, Kansas City.
You were there in 2021.
Why are they such a machine?
How does Andy Reid kind of operate on a day-to-day basis when you were there at least?
And do you believe we are now in the Patriots-esque era of KC
and that this is going to be the reality of the NFL for the next 15 years until Mahomes is done?
I'll start with Andy Reid.
All great head coaches have the ability to touch every single guy on that roster,
whether it's conversation or a little pick-me-up here
or a little kick in the ass there.
Andy Reid is as good as anybody I've seen at doing that.
And the cast of misfitit Toys that he loves
to work with is so entertaining to be around every day. And Andy's such a big part of that.
And obviously the offensive genius, but his commitment to being a real part of the offensive
line, teaching and coaching and install. The screens are Andy Reed's baby. Everybody else
goes and sits down when it's time
to do screen install because that's Andy. You can see the attention to detail in particular
in that department of the offense. I loved it as an offensive lineman. He just eats,
sleeps, breathes football. As for the Chiefs, a few years ago, they got rid of a guy named
Tyreek Hill who's pretty good at football. Number one guy in the league. Number one guy in the league.
I was on my brother's podcast, The Greenlight Pod.
Also, shout out to C-Long.
We all love Chris.
Shout out, Chris.
We were talking about the Chiefs, and they took the driver out of Patrick Mahomes' bag
when they took Tyreek Hill off the roster.
And people fail to realize he hits the three-wood 320 yards,
and he can put it right down the middle too so even without tyreek we saw the explosive stuff change a lot for that offense but now they
go and get some more burners and we could be looking at you know the tyreek-esque offense 2.0
uh they got scarier this season and i mean it's good it remains to be seen who will step up to
the plate in the big moments.
But I know Patrick will.
We all know Patrick will.
These new characters on the Chiefs are going to be fun to watch.
Xavier Worthy, obviously, in training camp is just always open, right?
Because they have so many people now.
If you bring Hollywood, where's She-Rice if we can get to the season?
And then you've got Travis Kelsey, obviously, commanding the middle of the field
or wherever the hell he
wants to be. Like that is literally what he does.
So it's almost, it's unstoppable
seemingly. You know?
Why doesn't everybody just do that, Kyle? Why doesn't everybody just do that?
They've got the algorithm. You know, some of
these guys in finance, they've got the computer that
just works for them, the algorithm. That's like Andy
Reid's brain. And you know, I think Brett Veach
is tied in and tapped into that brain.
He put his USB dongle in there, you know, and he was like a little FBI hack into Andy's brain. He finds a way
to couple Andy's schematics and offensive mind with his ability to get these players in the
building. And, you know, what we're seeing is the most fun thing in football travis kelsey going for another four years
somehow he's just that that animal animal dude just in life awesome you're talking about good
vibes all the fucking time i've never you know like him consummate pro too he takes it so much
more seriously than you could ever imagine i mean the guy is just uh i tell the story about you know
there's three football fields at a practice facility.
There's, you know, ones for Pat and his buddies
and ones for me and my boys in the corner.
And then the linebackers are hitting each other in the face
for three hours over there.
But the third field was pretty much like Travis running quarter,
one-eighth speed routes to himself and knowing, you know,
getting a feel for where they're going.
All in his mind.
You see him catch the football.
He turns on a dime like he knew what was behind him because he's practiced it so much.
And he does the visualization.
It's real.
He's doing Tao of Jeet Kune Do, some Bruce Lee stuff out there throughout the week.
And he gets ready to rock.
And it comes out on Sunday.
It looks so natural. But he practices that stuff so much art of war too you know with how old he is like
and that is not saying in real life but for how old he is you have to understand that the amount
of work he has to put into his body to be able to perform at the level the amount of time commitment
the everything that he has to have and it's always because he's having so much fun and he's always, all right, now, and the whole thing,
everybody like kind of, that kind of camouflages, I think,
and disguises the reality.
That's how he deals with how serious it is.
He's got that personality that just radiates positivity.
But he is, ooh, he's serious,
and that's why he's going to be a first ballot Hall of Famer.
Yeah, greatest of all time.
A lot of people are already saying that him and Gronk
could have the conversation, I guess, until –
I can't wait to see them actually have that conversation someday.
Yeah, that would be cool.
Yeah, Gronk would be like, you, man.
No, it would be you, man.
You, buddy.
You, buddy.
But then him just roaming the middle of that field is just like such a weapon
because then last year they ran the ball to victory
and Spagnuolo on defense just beat everybody. year they ran the ball to victory and Spagnuolo on
defense just beat everybody now they have the opportunity to do whatever they're going to be
fun to watch all locked in seemingly go ahead AJ Kyle what do you think of these uh this guardian
cap situation going on through the NFL and the possibility that they may be wearing them in uh
actual games soon I 100% would award them practice, at the very least individual period in practice.
People watch our game, AJ, and they see the stuff that happens on Sunday,
and they fail to realize that we're doing that same thing throughout the week,
particularly the front seven, linebackers O-line, D-line, tight ends, running backs.
I think if you're not wearing that guardian cap in practice,
it's obviously a personal decision, but I don't think it's a very bright one.
It's clear to me that it's going don't think it's a very bright one.
It's clear to me that it's going to reduce the impact on your old training. Something.
It's going to reduce something, you would assume.
I would do it in practice.
My old teammate, James Daniels, I think was the first O-lineman to wear it in a game in
Pittsburgh.
I don't see why not, especially for the O-line.
Now, if you're a guy that's really trying to be running like the wind and cutting through the air and you think somehow, like a baseball guy,
I can understand why he wouldn't want to wear a certain thing
because of superstition.
Now, I get that for receivers.
But for these guys who are pounding face all the time, come on.
Help yourself out.
Pounding face.
I love that.
We need the see-through guardian for the face, too,
so we can get back to this style of tackling.
Right.
That'd be cool.
Yeah.
See what you hit.
That's what old Flattop, my old man, would always tell me.
See what you hit.
Use your hands.
God gave you two of them.
Howen, he's obviously on Fox, has been forever,
one of the voices of the game.
I think Skechers, too.
I think he's the face of Skechers or the feet.
He's an actor as well.
Obviously, great role with John Travolta a little while back.
Naturally.
Phenomenal.
Broken Arrow.
Classic.
Such a good movie.
So good.
Just an alpha.
Yeah, truly.
Yeah, just a true alpha in this entire thing.
How day-to-day in football still is he?
Does he pay attention to all the shit, or is it till season starts what is how does he view football at this stage of being the face of one of the faces of football
for decades and decades and decades the thing that keeps him uh this it's like watching uh
like looking at a 1969 gto run down a ride down the street somebody clearly took took great care
of it and it runs great sounds great that's like my dad's football mind. And in terms of the way that he consumes and retains information, he reads a ton. He watches the tape.
And, you know, I guess sometimes he's watching these daytime shows, but dad's old school with
it. He's like, you know, your special teams coach. He reminds me of any position coach I've ever had
in the way that he looks at it. And he just gets a unique opportunity to talk about it in a nice suit on Sunday. He does a great job for it. That show
has obviously been around for a long time same cast for a long time and it's been fantastic.
Let's go back to Chicago. Ty has a question for you who's an owner of the Green Bay Packers
and has never really said publicly that he thinks that the Chicago Bears are going to do anything in
the NFC North.
Ty Schmidt, your question for Kyle Long.
I said I think they'll be pretty good this year.
But, Kyle, when you look at the Bears this year, every year with hard knocks,
like whatever team it is, they get that kind of preseason bump where everyone starts talking about them.
Like, oh, hey, this team actually could maybe make a run, win a Super Bowl.
But then we saw Coach Floos talking with Nick saban and he talked about how with caleb like it's gonna be hey we got to take this kind of one step
at a time what do you think realistic expectations are for the bears this year and also what do you
think fans should be happy with because obviously right now it's it's kind of like well hey this
team could maybe win the division or or make a deep run in the playoffs but what do you think
fans would be happy with from the Bears this year?
Beating the Green Bay Packers.
That's all they care about.
And I'm not predicting anything.
I'm just saying, like, obviously, Jordan Love, Matt LaFleur,
these guys are in lockstep offensively,
and they are quite a firework show to watch every Sunday.
And they made a lot of noise late in the season.
But Chicago is involved in this arms race in the NFC North and Jared Goff and Dan Campbell
are scary too.
But it all comes down to you got to go to Lambeau and you got to get a win.
And that'll really be the mark of success.
And if they don't do that, they better make the playoffs, you know, get into the playoffs
somehow.
The chips are stacked in their favor.
And as Pat alluded to, it's like I haven't seen a rookie
come into a situation like this.
So he's going to hit the ground running,
and he knows it as well as anybody.
I love the way he has carried himself
throughout this Hard Knocks episode.
And to Ty's point, Hard Knocks does a great job
of you liking whoever they're showing.
It happens every year.
Yeah, like, damn, I didn't know this was possible.
DJ Moore, I like football.
I love football.
Like him screaming that out there.
It's like, I love DJ Moore.
If that's what he's screaming.
The Keenan Allen, Jalen Johnson competition,
it's just like that taps into something mentally for me where I'm like,
I've been in that kind of camp battle with a guy.
I remember Hakeem Hicks going against him every single day.
It makes you better.
And I get that sense from Keenan when he's at the podium.
He said, but I'm going to get him tomorrow.
You know what I mean?
I'm going to get him tomorrow.
I couldn't get him at all today.
And that's where great teams are born, in those kind of salt mines.
And Jalen Johnson, with how dominant he was to Keenan.
Very cool, calm calm we're talking about
stuff we're going through stuff we're getting better we're getting better and also we're
choosing to go against each other every single day because obviously that is a choice that is
made every single time the rep has had you could tap out bring somebody else in let me go against
a two real quick so I can work on some stuff instead choosing ones on ones is good news
before we let you go hey hey, you got a new
podcast with Mike Renner.
Yeah. We know Mike.
We know Mike. Great dude. He was an
intern with you guys with Barstool Indie,
I believe is what it was.
He wanted me to make sure
I said hello. It was like a week or two, I think.
I think it was like two or three weeks.
He said it was four or five weeks, I think.
To be clear, big fan. He had another job. He had a full other job. He did. He said it was four or five weeks, I think. He was awesome. To be clear, big fan.
He had another job.
He had a full other job.
He did.
He did, yes.
It was not the easiest thing, and he was in Cincinnati, I think.
And then he was super handsome, so handsome.
Very handsome.
Yeah, he was on The Bachelorette.
Bachelorette, I think.
And then he was pro football focus.
And then now, alongside you.
Really bright guy.
Yes.
Really bright guy.
We have a podcast that starts on Mondayay 9 30 a.m where you consume
all your football podcasts or any podcast you know the names of those places it's called pushing the
pile it's with me kyle long and mike renner we're gonna be going monday through thursday recap style
on monday finishing with a great preview for the weekend slate so if you like football and you like
mash and face like i do love it come push the pile with us uh every
morning hey we can't wait to check it out we love mike runner uh he has a he's pff background a lot
going on at pff right now a lot going on at pff right now runner before this but there is certainly
some movement taking place but all the stats analytics and he's a football guy so like uh
it will be an incredible show speaking of an an incredible show, the Big Ten brings in a new one.
Connor has a question for you before we let you go.
Yeah, Kyle, Oregon, are they winning the natty this year?
Or what's going on?
I know A.J.
Hawk is gritting his teeth at me just even asking that because they're in the
Big Ten now.
But what are the expectations?
Do you think they're going to do it?
I got to get my dual citizenship in terms of conference now because Pac-12,
Big Ten, I can sit at the Big Ten tables at these media days now, I guess.
It's cool.
I mean, they've got to fight for their right to party, I guess,
as Travis Kelsey would say.
When you go play in this Big Ten, it's such a historic conference,
and obviously Oregon's got the gusto to come and get this thing done,
but we love what they've done in Eugene,
and they better come out of the gate swinging,
because AJ can attest to this. You can't let your guard
down one week in that conference.
Lanning feels like
a guy who likes smashing face.
He's a face power. Big face smasher.
Yes, he is.
We enjoy his mentality, his
attitude, and they are ranked
very, very, very, very high
in their first year coming into the Big Ten.
Could you imagine if Texas in their first year in the SEC
is able to make it to the national championship?
Oregon in their first year in the Big Ten make it to the national championship.
All of a sudden, those historic conferences are looking up at a brand-new dad.
Wow.
Uh-oh.
That would be a wild time to be from Ohio State or Michigan or Iowa.
That would be tough for Iowa. That would be tough for Iowa.
That would be tough.
Let's see them get it done.
Hey, guess what?
If they go and win, that's a Big Ten National Championship.
Okay, so we can talk about all this other mumbo jumbo with looking up at Big Tens on top, baby.
Okay.
We're all a team.
Amen.
B1G all across the country.
Well said.
We love it.
Ladies and gentlemen, pushing the pile.
Are you doing a game day Sunday show too with CBS?
Yes.
So you can also find me on CBS Sports 8 to noon every single Sunday
live from New York City with my crew, Adam Schein, Jonathan Jones,
Brock Vereen, Katie Mox, Jeff Radcliffe.
We've got a great team, and we preview the game slate.
So come and see us on Sunday morning.
You asked for it.
You got it.
Ladies and gentlemen, Kyle Long.
Shine's the best.
Yeah, he's the love, Shine.
Shine's energy is fantastic.
Always has been.
Nuke.
He has a special ability that only a few have where you can put him in an actual closet
with a microphone all by himself.
A light. He's going to have to see.
He can go
five, six hours if you do.
He'll rip it.
On anything.
All the way through there.
A true professional.
A true lightning rod.
A legend of the game.
Shout out to the Shine Bucks, baby.
And Kyle Long. I'm happy he's
back in good graces with the
Chicago Bears. Happens a lot in the NFL
world. I assume other professional
sports, too. Because whenever you're done,
that's the first time in your entire life you've been told you're not
good enough by somebody.
When that takes place, that is
for some people, most people
actually, very difficult to hear.
That is quite a shot that has never been taken at somebody before.
And I'm not saying that's what happened to Kyle Long,
but it is very normal for players at a place to kind of be pissed off at a place,
take some time with the sport as a whole sometimes,
sport as a whole, league as a whole, team as a whole,
and then come back, happy Kyle's back, good personality,
be back in the NFL world, AJ.
Great, great personality.
Obviously, great family of football and all that they do in the media as well.
I mean, think of all of them, all of what they're doing.
Obviously, he's the brother Howie in sales, but Chris and his dad Howie.
I mean, Howie, I want to ask, we'll get at him again,
but man, I want to ask about Howie's physical regimen.
That dude looks like he's the healthiest whatever.
I don't know what age he is, but he looks amazing.
Well, I think I saw him at Skechers commercial.
He's walking a lot.
Yeah.
He's doing a lot of walking.
He's probably playing pick-up basketball and pickleball all day, doing all kinds of stuff.
Posture's always proper.
Yes.
Posture's always proper where he is.
Haircut always still.
Still wide.
Still howling.
Yeah.
And still watching the film.
Old school.
This guy watching the film every single week.
Think about those TV people that have been around forever.
Them doing the same things that they've done without the technology advances,
which I'm assuming there are people that have adapted and everything like that.
But just the thought of old football guys still doing what they have to do now.
Just be like, I don't want that shit.
No, we got a system that shows you everything.
I don't want it.
I just need a fucking computer.
Cup of mud.
Yeah, please.
Newspaper.
Like Coach Corso, he has notes on everything.
And it's like, how's he...
Obviously, it's written with a pencil, Ticonderoga.
But is he just waking up and watching film,
writing his notes, and then just like it is
the amount of time he has to spend doing that is phenomenal it's like I wonder if anybody's like
coach you can just see the clips where I don't want to hear I don't want to hear it at all like
I wonder how that all goes probably drive you crazy because like he's been doing that for 30
years like you take that chunk out of your every single day. It's like, what the fuck am I supposed to do?
That's like Fox.
That Fox kickoff show is the, I mean, they had Gronk.
But that has just been same characters for 25 years, 30 years.
And that's just, this is how we go about doing it.
This is how we go about doing it.
And I'm assuming that Fox has been presented with like,
you need to change it or whatever.
And probably one or all of them have been like,
no, we're not doing that.
We're a team in this entire thing.
But what a legendary family, that long family.
Tonight is a big night, okay?
Preseason week two kicks off.
Yes.
AJ, have you thought about this game at all?
One iota, 7 p.m., NFL Network, Eagles, Patriots, Kenny Pickett,
Drake May, battling up
in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
So I'd like to ask Tone Diggs a question
about this. There's this spread
on preseason games. How do they come up with these
and are they as
accurate as regular season spreads, Tone?
They come up with them based on the coaches
reporting who is going to play and who is not
going to play. Like today, the Eagles are
expecting not to play any of the starters. We haven't heard a lot out of the Patriots
camp who they're expecting to play today. So I think when the Eagles announced, Hey,
probably not gonna play any starters that went from two and a half to three and a half
Patriots minus. But no, they are not as accurate as the regular season because there's so much
variance as far as three, four quarterbacks playing and you have no idea who's going to
play and how those quarterbacks play. So no, you there's, there's actually if if you're on the right side you can you can get lucky and make
make a decent amount of money here it's a gettable it's a gettable operation here aj it's a gettable
operation what are you thinking i want to see drake may push the ball down the field i want to
see him really let him open it up a little bit so yeah give me the patriots they're going to cover
all right patriots minus three it was just minus two and a half it has moved uh I guess in the last 35 seconds all right things are happening Patriots fans are excited
we're even more favorites over Kenny Pickett who was pre-season all pro yeah that's true with the
Pittsburgh Steelers in a brand new offense over there in Philadelphia after getting traded away
and no longer being his era uh you said you want him to move it downfield I want to see like the
timing now it's going to be tough but I I want to see, like, the timing.
Now, it's going to be tough, but I would like to see some timing routes.
Yes.
You know, like the ones that you – There's progressions, yeah, and hit, like, a big third and ten
or something in a window, stuff like that.
Yeah, like the ones you're actually going to throw in actual games.
Like, you know, the deep shots, you're going to get, what,
two of those a game maybe, three of those a game.
Those are fun.
That's, like, for me, whenever I was a field goal kicker,
I'd always be, like, every practice I'm hitting 4-5 from 65, 70 yards.
Everyone.
Everyone.
And every time I hit, I'm like, I'm so good, dude.
That's so awesome.
Nobody can do that in this.
Nobody can do what I just did right there.
This feels pretty good.
And then you realize throughout an entire season,
I've never attempted one of those.
I've never in my entire life. What was the farthest you attempted?
50...
50-something. 52, 54.
Did you ever tell a coach no? Did you ever say,
hey, okay, we're not...
Oh, no, 64. I tried a 64-yarder.
That's what you call it, preseason.
That was me and Griff Whalen's first work of the season
because there was a backup kicker there.
So Chuck let me go out there and do it.
I'm like, thanks, Chuck.
This is awesome.
Missed it left.
Son of a bitch.
That should have won through.
That was 64 yarder.
Yeah.
First field goal kick of the year.
That was pretty.
That was a lot of fun.
If I make that, I am obnoxious.
You know.
Right for myself.
Right.
I mean, first rep.
First rep.
I'm doing it.
And I think Vinny was kicking in the first quarter,
so this is the fourth quarter, so his shoes run tight.
So there's no way Vinny could get pissed that I was doing it
because there's no way he wanted to.
It was like a perfect situation because Vinny could hit from –
up until I think his last year or two, Vinny was hitting 64, 65 yarders in practice.
And it was like – so there's never a time where it's like, you know what?
We're going to try a 63 yarder.
Let's bring in the young kid. Vinny would be like, so there's never a time where it's like, you know what? We're going to try a 63-yard. Let's bring in the young kid.
Vinny would be like, young kid?
69 maybe.
What are we doing there?
So it wasn't a lot of opportunities.
So I think a 64-yarder preseason.
Griff Whalen, great hold.
Great snap by Overton.
I pulled that thing left.
But I was in the air.
Oh, my God.
I did it.
Holy shit.
Did I just tie an NFL record right now?
First pick to camp?
That would have been sweet.
But those long ones, you've got to hit very pure.
And I certainly did not, which is why I was not an NFL kicker.
Instead, I was an NFL punter.
Excited for tonight.
Conman, you also got the Patriots, yes?
Yeah, of course.
Just want to see Drake May throw more than three passes,
have more than one drive.
Quick update on the IU story before we go off ESPN2,
and we continue on YouTube and ESPN Plus and TikTok Live with Mark Caboli
here in a matter of moments.
Obviously, can't wait to talk to him about some big news.
Brandon Iuke was at Niners practice yesterday.
Okay?
Here we go.
Brandon Iuke watched 49ers practice on the sideline near goal line by himself
until team drills reached red zone.
GM John Lynch gave him a handshake and a pat on the back.
More so a high nod of congratulations.
Brenton Ayuk looked interested in red t-shirt and black shorts.
Chatted with Deebo Kittle and Juice.
He's on the field.
Now, it wasn't congrats.
It was just, hey, how you doing?
Good to see you.
How you doing?
Keep moving.
He's back on the field.
All the hoopla that is surrounding him seemingly is going to end up with him
back with the 49ers.
We shall see how it goes.
Or maybe he's traded out of nowhere. We shall see how it goes.
Or maybe he's traded out of nowhere.
Just like Matthew Judon yesterday.
Sports are always awesome.
Football always delivers.
We'll be back tomorrow on ESPN at noon Eastern.
Be a friend.
Tell a friend something nice.
It might change their life.
Goodbye.
Yeah.
Screws.
You know what I mean? Got him.
That was like a two minutes and 15 second one.
Yeah.
Had to kind of just fill
until we hit that.
Trying to be professional
as possible.
Mm-hmm.
Trying to be as professional
as possible.
That's right.
I would.
These people got us on
in airports and cafes
and diners.
I'm seeing international
pictures of us on TVs.
Obviously, we got that
Irish show coming up
and I have no idea
what to expect over there.
Me neither.
I have no clue
what to expect. Last time I was in Ireland, they called me a dumb yank the what to expect over there. I have no clue what to expect.
Last time I was in Ireland, they called me a dumb yank the entire time I was there.
So now, going and announcing where the dumb yankee will be,
I don't know how great of an idea it is.
Excited to be there.
J.R. Mahan's next Friday is going to be awesome.
We are so lucky and thankful for Robert Mahon of the Mahon Family Hospitality
Group for basically pitching
the idea, setting up the entire
thing, and also listening to a lot
of our concerns because we've got to
be able to do a program as well.
We can't wait to get there. We hope we get a chance to see
everybody.
A couple big-time guests stopping by.
Here we go. A couple Irish
guests. A couple American Hero guests. A couple big-time guests stopping by. Here we go. A couple Irish guests. A couple American hero guests.
A couple icon guests.
You could say that.
We've got good times on the way in Dublin, Ireland.
On 230824.
They have a crack.
It will be a crack.
What's the crack?
You know what that means, AJ?
No, I have no idea.
Why don't you be a little bit cultured every once in a while?
The crack is like the story, the situation.
What's the crack?
What's the crack?
And the only reason why we know that is because whenever Seamus would cut promos
or Finn Balor or Becky Lynch or J.D. McDonough,
like I know a lot of these Irish people now, you know, like not a lot, obviously,
but you get it.
There's been a lot of Irish people in my life as of late.
What a group of humans.
Unbelievable.
Variety crew.
I mean, what a group of humans.
Very successful.
WWE is very thankful for the Irish contingency.
Can't wait to see what next Friday looks like.
I know.
It'll be sick.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
A lot of pints.
There's going to be a lot of Florida State, Georgia Tech fans Making the trip, you think?
I would think, you would think
I would hope, I think that's the goal
I would assume
I mean, if you're an Irish, yellow jacket
I think
I think the Todd is
Tat
Tay
Will make the tip
Yeah, yeah, I think they will.
I think the Tate is Tate.
Oh, my God.
I think the Tate is Tate.
Yeah, Tate will make the trip.
Shout out to the Irish.
Aer Lingus sponsoring that game.
That's right.
Love that.
So, you got the NFL in England, Germany, and Brazil.
You got college ball now for multiple years in Ireland.
We're moving games.
Mexico has games.
Canada has games.
Australia is going to get a game.
We assume that is going to happen at some point.
Probably won't be a regular season game because of how far it is.
It would be a strategic disadvantage.
Spain.
Spain, big fan.
Brazil having a game is crazy.
Yeah.
How long is the Brazil flight?
I have no idea, to be honest.
But they said it was too long for the Packers to take off from Green Bay.
That was the Packers.
We can't play international.
We can't get the plane off the ground here.
Our runway is too short.
Taking off is obviously a problem.
But if there's any rain coming back to,
we're going to have to – it's a disadvantage for us
because we don't have big enough runways.
So how long is the flight to Brazil?
We should look that up.
Probably so far.
It's pretty serious.
You would think just because it is – it's like, oh, South America is right below North America.
I assume that is like a 15-hour.
Philly especially.
Philly to Brazil, I assume. Well, the same time. Philly especially. Philly to Brazil I assume.
The same time zone though, right?
Like time zones? Yeah, I forget
where that line is. I don't think it's
that crazy of a time zone difference.
But I do believe
8 hours 26 minutes.
That's not as bad as I thought.
That is a haul.
Ireland
really settled in in my brain yesterday. Ireland really settled in
in my brain yesterday.
Seven and a half and a tube over.
Eight and a half and a tube back.
Have done it before, obviously,
in the past.
That's a long time in a tube.
Yesterday, I just
was with my thoughts a little bit while I was on the
John. I was like, seven and a half
hours on. Holy shit. I was in Austin, Texas last week, and that was two hours and 15 minutes.
I'm like, this is forever.
Seven and a half hours on a tube with this guy cheating in cards the entire time.
That's right.
Entire time.
It's going to be great.
It's going to be great.
It's going to be fantastic.
Can't wait to get over there.
Then when we get to Ireland, there is a potential chance to golf, but we're not 100% sure if
our bodies will be able to stay awake in the timing
of the whole thing. Yeah. But the golf course
looks beautiful. Oh, yeah, of course. I mean, everything
in Ireland is beautiful. Let's be real here.
Oh, you're pumped to get back home, huh? Of course.
First time. I was watching a video
earlier today about how
American Irish people should act
whenever they go back to Ireland to celebrate
how Irish they are, right? That was a video.
Verbatim, yes. And I got some great tips, and I feel much better about how to act.
I heard they talked about enthusiasm a little bit there.
Being enthusiastic about anything isn't really Irish.
So think about that whenever you're acting over here.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, no.
Yeah, so, you know, I'm excited to get over there
and learn a little bit about the home country.
You know, excited to get there.
there and learn a little bit about the home country you know excited to get there
football he is fantastic and aj hawk right there was right on cue this man's played the football well at high school he had 31 tackles three different times yep in college he was a national
champion in the nfl he's a super bowl champion and he's the all-time leading tackler for the Green Bay Packers. Wow.
Unreal.
Legend.
You ever just look in the mirror and say, yeah, I am the football?
Every day.
Yeah, every day, right?
Isn't that what you do?
Yeah, speaking of football, we have the next iteration of football. Ladies and gentlemen, from the Hammer Dime podcast, Bruce Brown.
Bruce, how you doing?
I'm great.
How are you?
Okay.
Bruce, right before we go live, I just need to do my best to not just die laughing as
soon as Pat throws it to me.
Yeah.
I mean, so Safer, which we have talked about, the Guardian helmets, the Guardian caps that
are on top of the NFL helmets.
There is another brand called Safer, S-A-F-R, that has not paid us any money, to be clear.
Should. Definitely should. Yep. another brand called safer s-a-f-r that has not paid us any money to be clear should definitely
should yep with that being said they've sent us that is that is a safer thing on top of a helmet
that's what it could look like is what safer is trying to say it's so safe it is so safe
Woodpeckering His way into safety
It does feel very safe
A little heavy I would say
You're not supposed to say that
When was the last time you had a helmet on your head?
Every time I go home
For Thanksgiving and Christmas
I put on my high school helmet
Of course
We don't have like Buckeye things
But little stickers on there
So helmets are obviously um like not the fun like the most fun thing to put on sure no no
so when the revolution helmets actually opened up the ear hole a little bit so you could just slide
it over your ears that was a bit of a game changer but still you got something very heavy on your
head now granted aj decided to utilize it as a weapon so he worked on that neck that you see
and obviously chewed on the jaws or sizer right to get that thing so that he could he was excited
to put the helmet on but a lot of people like that is very annoying to put it on so i think
a helmet could be uncomfortable if you don't wear it every single day to anybody but just looking at
it from the ride out here straight on that just looks like an like an expanded helmet yeah yeah which is what the Guardian cap with the thing on the linen on top of it's supposed to look like.
Safer just has like a little bit more rubber glossy look to it.
Yeah.
And if this is an option and the Guardian cap's an option,
it's only a matter of time before that just becomes the helmet.
Because that just looks like a helmet right now.
It does.
No, yeah, it does.
And especially when we saw the colleges that are using them right now,
you almost had to double take.
I mean, Bruce looks damn good.
It just looks like he's got your run-of-the-mill football helmet on.
It doesn't look like he's got anything goofy on over top.
It's a little small, too, so a lot of the goofiness, I think,
is coming in with it not being my grip.
It fits perfectly.
From your lips touching the face mask?
Yeah, I think you don't have a chin strap obviously that changes the look of everything but you can clearly see where the
bonus padding is but it just it kind of blends in a lot better because of the glossiness to it as
opposed to like the linen pillow look right that the guardian caps have so everybody knows it's a
race to figure out how you become the helmet with the guardian cap in it or the position-specific helmet that everybody uses.
There's going to be a lot of money, I assume, in that particular business.
Good luck to all parties, including Safer.
Thank you for the box so we can add it to the stuff that we have here at the Thunderdome.
We use.
And we hope you enjoyed the display, Bruce's face and head.
You smashed face in that thing.
You did, big time.
You smashed face. Should we get D-Bone out for some one-on-ones?
Yeah, I mean, D-Bone still recovering
from the brawn breaker spear.
That's Aaron Cardinal champion.
That speared him in half.
Boston Connor is here. We can go live
to Hammer Don.
Don Diggs is here. We'll check in with him
in a few moments. Ladies and gentlemen, joining us now,
formerly of The Athlet the athletic always from pittsburgh pennsylvania steelers beat ryer for 22 years
and we're proud to say we'll still be on the beat as a correspondent for our show this upcoming NFL season. Ladies and gentlemen, the one, the only, Mark Caboli.
Yeah!
What's up?
How you doing, Mark?
You know, it felt like you were maybe down in the
dumps, a little bummed out a few days
ago when that athletic news came through
and you put out a tweet, you said,
lookie here, I might be a
free agent here, and the entire
world said, Caboli, that's not going to last
long. We were obviously
one of the people that were incredibly interested
in it. Bringing you onto our team this year
officially, we're incredibly thankful and pumped about it,
Mark. We hope you feel the
same way, brother.
Yeah, you caught me Monday
morning, probably at my worst, five minutes
after the old announcement,
so God knows what
i just said to you during that uh little conversation we had but uh i am grateful i
think my like you say all the time i mean i think my life's a reality series right now it's out of
control it's the last three days whoo hey you're gonna get a lot of love Kaboli though. Whoo lot tornado. Oh, oh
Out of control the people are just great out there. Yeah, well one but other than that, you know, oh, yeah
It was great. Yeah, I mean obviously people had make decisions to fire you I mean but
Anytime one door closes, you know what happens another bunch open ladies and gentlemen i am here to announce that not only will he be a correspondent for us this upcoming season as of i think just like an
hour ago or so marco bole also a wwe digital contributor wow wow okay
Yeet, yeet, yeet Yeet is right, yeet baby
Wow, I am covering Pittsburgh Steelers NFL football for the Pat McAfee show
In the WWE wrestling
I am the ultimate yinzer of all yinzers
I should be cracking open Iron City beer right now, that's what I feel like
Now, unbelievable
Okay, good, I don't know what your previous boss feels like with you cracking open iron cities on air would like to let you
know your new one very okay with it behind the wheel yeah let's make sure we are done driving
for the day yeah yeah yeah obviously it's 2020 i'm actually i'm actually outside my kids orientation
for uh second grade so it's probably not a good place to crack open the Iron City.
See, that's what we're talking about.
That's a good guy.
Exactly.
This guy won't hammer beers behind the wheel.
No, no, no.
Mark, throughout the season,
we're hoping, obviously, that you'll be able to give us a feel
for what's happening in Pittsburgh.
Let's talk about that.
You haven't been in practice for how long now?
August 1st since I went off the grid.
Like I said, not by purpose, but by demand.
So, yeah, I've been off the grid.
I still try to keep up, follow up a little bit,
but I'm going to have to jump back in here a little bit here very, very, very, very soon.
But I know what's going on. I
watched the game. I'm available. But yeah, it's been a rough couple of non-football weeks for me,
which is not fun. Not fun. Well, Mike, you got to remember the brightest sun comes after the
darkest dawn and feels like we're in that. Is this going to be a fun year for the Pittsburgh
Steelers, you think, from what you're gathering from the last two weeks,
viewing it from a different perspective?
It looks like it has a ton of potential.
I mean, a ton of potential with the offense and Arthur Smith
and how that offensive line is young and hungry.
And that defense, that defense is $160 million plus defense, and you know what they can do,
and the stars they have at every level.
They have potential to be a very, very tough team.
It's going to all come down to quarterback play.
I mean, right now, to me, it's still Russell Wilson.
I mean, he's a guy that, in my opinion,
could have practiced about five days after the calf injury, right?
But Mike Tomlin held him out,
and I think it's for a reason.
I think it's for a reason they wanted to take a look
at Justin Fields in a situation like this.
Oh, no.
Already getting throttled.
Mark, we're getting throttled already?
He was suspended for two weeks by the man.
Oh, God.
He's got new jobs.
Right.
They're trying to hold him back.
Yeah, they really truly are.
They don't want him drinking.
They don't want him drinking and driving.
What the hell?
He's America.
The WWE thing, obviously working with us,
is hilarious. He's able to work for
whoever he wants.
I think he has a couple deals around town.
93.7, I believe.
The fan back in Pittsburgh is signing him.
Formerly B94, though.
Just so everybody understands.
93.7 in Pittsburgh is B94 to me.
Adam Baum and Buzz, they used to really – that used to be –
John Day, Bubba Shelly.
Yeah, that was the spot.
Those names.
But now it is The Fan, which is a sports channel.
I believe he's on there.
I saw the Pony Express break some news last week
and then also talk about how great of a person Mark Caboli is.
So he's getting a lot of love around town.
We're excited for him to have all those jobs.
But the fact that we get priority is all I said.
For the amount of money I'm paying him, we get priority.
So if we want you on a show, you're going to have to come on our show
that particular day.
Can't be doing any appearances beforehand.
We want the first Kaboli crack.
Other than that, the WWE thing coming together is just hysterical.
You know, because I talked about this whenever the firing of Kaboli was kind of made public and we addressed it.
It's like I would show up at WWE events and, you know, people watch our show, which is crazy to think about.
It's fun to think about. It's fun to think about, but the people who watch our show, they're like, that fucking Koboli, what a win that is for you, huh?
And I'm like, yeah, it is an entertaining conversation.
They're like, every time.
Every time is an entertaining conversation.
He is seemingly one of one.
So the conversation about him potentially writing WWE.com,
maybe doing reviews on his x account and then
other digital properties it's like and he's a wrestling fan seems like an easy easy connection
there so that came through it's like mark caboli's living his best life right now aj even though he
has no phone service in pittsburgh at his kid's school yeah he said it's like uh he's living like
a reality show life but do you think this is just to
get his foot in the door so eventually we'll
see him in the squared circle maybe
throwing some bows?
You can only hope.
Those Achilles, think about it. Those Achilles
heal up. There's no telling what this
guy can do. Him and Otis. They're going to be
so mad when he's in 2K25.
So now
because what he writes, people are going to relate to so much
exactly and i assume if i know any good journalism that you know this man will do he'll get some news
too some scoops oh yeah you know he'll be he'll be video recaps too though we need video recaps
on twitter instant reaction uh speaking of joining us again after his phone overheated
Instant reaction.
Speaking of, joining us again after his phone overheated.
That's classic.
That's not real.
I mean, hot head.
Ladies and gentlemen, from the Pat McAfee Show and the WWE, Mark Caboli.
I mean, you can't even script it any better than this, right?
My phone overheated.
Unbelievable. Shut down. That's because you're hot in the streets, Mark. You're hot it any better than this, right? My phone overheated. Unbelievable.
Shut down.
Yeah, that's because you're hot in the streets, Mark.
You're hot in the streets right now, pal.
It's radiating through your phone.
You told us about the Pittsburgh Steelers being a lot of promise and hope looking at the year and the young offensive line,
and you'll be back covering them, obviously.
AJ has a question for you, though, here, Mark.
Kaboey, the WWE news, it's new to me.
I'm hearing it for the first time.
So what are you going to be doing for them exactly?
And I would expect your role to expand exponentially as you go
and you show the great work that you have.
Maybe you can get in the ring someday.
Superstar.
Oh, yeah.
We're going to do some writing for the site.
We're going to do some potential features, some kind of recaps,
anything they need me to do.
You know, a lifelong WWE fan. going to do some potential features some kind of recaps anything they need me to do you know a
lifelong wwe fan i was you know playing with my wrestling figures at 10 years old my rubber hawk
hogan foot figures so i'm being a big fan so you know whatever they need me to do i'm there
other than maybe take a chair shot but uh well i have done that before but uh anything they need
man anything writing wise for the site from who But anything they need, man. Anything writing-wise for the site.
From who?
Anything that they need feature-wise, I'm there for them.
What can we expect?
Are you going to be, obviously, we only have one tribal chief, right?
There's an original tribal chief.
And, obviously, we all agree with that.
What are you thinking?
Have you thought about your angle and how you are going to write about the WWE?
Because that is obviously a much different world than the football world, Mark.
Yeah, much different world.
Maybe I'll just be the Yenzer guy.
I don't know, the Yenzer football guy?
Something like that.
I'm sure I can stir things up a little bit.
I haven't given it much thought.
It's kind of fresh here.
But I'll welcome any ideas here of what type of uh i think i think i know what you think i'm
definitely a baby face right well i right i fear mark mark i fear with the way these wrestling
fans are and you're one of them and i was one of them and i am one of them still but coming into
the wwe i was like massive wwe fan very publicly wwe fan And then I got a position, though, that some bigger fan than me
definitely deserved more than I did.
So then they immediately had to hate me.
And it's like, yeah, actually, I am heel here.
So my entire time in NXT, I was heel pretty much the entire time.
It was awesome.
It was a great time, I will say.
But you've got to earn their respect.
Those wrestling fans, you've got to earn their respect.
I think the Toxic Table has experienced it the most here, most recent.
But once you earn their respect, I think they do appreciate you.
But they want to know that you're in it, don't they, Ty?
Absolutely.
But also, Mark, you're not going to earn that respect overnight.
Okay?
So, like, that's what, you know, you say, hey, you want to mix things up.
You've got to be careful who you're taking shots at or who, you know,
who you don't think is enough of a technician in the squared circle.
And I don't know.
I mean, are you a Cody Crybaby?
I think there's kind of whispers out there that you might be a Cody Crybaby
when Roman's coming back right now and everyone wants to talk about that.
Are you going to give enough time to Roman,
or are you just going to be one-sided and say, hey, Cody's our fighting champion.
We don't want anything to do with this
Roman guy. Yeah, and what about Braun Breaker
and Gunther
and the Pure Fusion
Collection? Bingo.
Yeah, I mean, there's a lot. You're going to be
worried now. Yeah, you should
be, Mark. You should be.
I'm used to
dealing with 160-pound
cornerbacks and now you're talking about like 250-pound guys can snap my neck now.
I'm a little worried now.
I'm afraid of Ron Breaker.
Yeah, you should be.
280.
I'm afraid of Ron Breaker.
Should be afraid of his corners too probably.
Yeah, but don't – hey, you're a journalist now.
Let's fucking – let's not forget that.
Honestly, those WWE fans are spectacular,
and I understand where you're coming from there. Hey, I am – honestly, those WWE fans are spectacular,
and I understand where you're coming from there.
But, you know, I'm used to people coming after me.
You have to grow a little bit of thick skin, right?
It is what it is.
Skin like an armadillo.
I think you get it coming through Pittsburgh.
Speaking of Pittsburgh, live from Hammer, Don.
Don. Don Diggs has a question for you, Caboli.
Yeah, I do, Cabols, and it's great.
It's absolutely great to have you back.
I did see Russ at practice.
It was his first day at practice that he took most of the majority
of the starters reps at 11-11, so I do agree with you there.
What do you think about the move?
I can't remember who the report was from,
but they reported that Fatano was going to start at right tackle, which means Broderick's probably going to be at left tackle do you think dan moore sticks
around you think they try to trade him if that's the case what are your thoughts there i don't
think they'll trade first of all fatano got hurt he hurt his mcl so he might not be back for week
one so that might have thrown a little wreck into it uh just a little bit of their planning but
you'd be crazy to get rid of somebody like Dan Moore.
I mean, this is a guy that has 50 starts in his career over three years,
four years.
I mean, to have a swing tackle in this league,
to be able to have that type of background and that type of experience,
absolutely crazy.
And he doesn't cost that much.
He's staying around because they might need him
they might need him because beyond damn more you don't really have much of tackles so uh i mean you
can see from fotano early on he was a little different than say broderick jones last year
broderick jones was very raw last year only eight career starts in georgia and it took him a while
to really get the um up to speed at training camp fotano's he's ready to go now it's him a while to really get up to speed at training camp for Tonto.
He's ready to go now.
It's all a matter of how bad that injury was.
Tough guy too, man.
They didn't even know he was hurt until he came into halftime and said,
hey, can I have a knee brace?
I was like, what?
What's wrong?
I think I hurt my knee.
He's a tough guy.
So, yeah, I think he'll be out there eventually.
It just might not be right away
depending on how that knee uh heals steelers not big joint practice team they're joint practicing
with the buffalo bills here today and mike tomlin said if you have a good dance partner especially
if it's somebody that you were a college teammate with like mcdermott was at william and mary william
and mary uh back in the day he will do. It hasn't really been something they've been known for, right?
No, they did it twice before.
Once with the Bills, Sammy Watkins rookie year, whenever that was.
And once with the Lions.
And both of them were just, am I allowed to say, shit shows?
I mean, because it was just fight after fight after fight after fight.
And I think one of them had to end early because it was a fight.
You have to stay away from that.
Let's hope that they can stay away.
I think that's why they have it at Accra Shore Stadium in front of no fans.
And, you know, media is not really allowed to report on anything they see
when it's not open.
So that's probably the reason why they did that.
They're going to maybe not have that crowd reaction to spur things on.
If you're able to call any fights, any interactions like that, it's fine to talk, push around, whatever.
But brawls, you can get a lot accomplished in a little amount of time.
So if they can stay away from those fights today, then it will be very productive.
The fights are something that I've assumed to be impossible to correct,
but then you're like Kevin O'Connell lay out what he would do
and then Bill what he would do, and then Mayo's saying it.
It seems like every team's getting the same messaging.
It's like, hey, if the person who gets in a fight
is going to not play this first preseason game or second preseason game,
well, guess what?
Now you are playing.
And if you're in the bottom half of the roster and you get into a fight,
guess what? You're not playing playing so you will not earn a slightly so it's like they're trying to like literally say hey you lose everything that you want if you get into a fight
because they're trying to make these more important and probably trying to eliminate
preseason games yeah so they really want these joint practices to work even though
seemingly it should never work because physical physical sport, we're together.
Fuck me.
Fuck us.
Fuck me.
No, fuck.
Like, there's a lot of that, potentially, with how tired everybody is.
But they want it to work, Kaboli.
They want it to work.
Everybody does.
Yeah, definitely want it to work because they probably want to get rid of some preseason games, like you said.
But the problem is, what if somebody takes a shot at your quarterback?
You're an offensive lineman.
Say, okay, I might not play tomorrow or next week.
I better not defend them.
So it's tough.
I mean, where do you draw that line of picking up your teammates back and getting into a fight and causing trouble?
So that's where it gets at.
Now, if you're a main root of the cause of coming up
and just cold-cocking somebody for no reason, I can see that, but that's a very gray area, man.
You want your teammates to have each other's backs here,
and you know stuff goes on there.
Like you said, chirping, intensity, stuff you don't see.
I mean, I saw, whatever it was, 10 years ago when Sammy Watkins
just absolutely embarrassed a Steelers cornerback on a drill.
I mean, what do you do there?
You go back and try to smack him in the face the next time, right?
You don't have to go eat lunch with him later.
So it's a tough, it's a gray area.
Yeah, it is a gray area.
Hopefully they'll be able to figure it out.
Bill Steelers, too tough.
Those are McDermott and Tomlin both trying to do the same exact thing.
Hope they figure it out.
Let's go to the WWE World, Kiboli.
Connor has a question for you.
Yeah, Mark.
How do you feel about the Terror Twins, Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest,
now going up against the Street Trash Judgment Day?
How do you think that's going to kind of end?
And are you worried about kind of the damage that is going to be done
to both groups as we progress here?
You know, like you call them, the trash.
They're definitely going to do something illegal.
You know how that is.
You know how dirty dumb it is.
Your buddy, Pat, your buddy's with him.
I'm not what he's with.
I am not, but I want your fucking mouth, Kaboli.
You know they're going to do something Weasley
here, but how can't you love
Damien Priest and Rhea Ripley
at this point? So, it's going
to be an interesting battle. All I
want to know is, is Finn
Balor coming back as the demon? That's
what I want to know. Is he?
The demon? I don't know if you saw
a couple weeks ago in the Judgment Day
Clubhouse, there was a thing in the back. I didn't see it in real a couple weeks ago in the Judgment Day clubhouse,
there was a thing in the back.
I didn't see it in real time.
Would have called it out.
There was a little painting of the demon on, like, a suitcase.
Yeah. Okay.
Yeah.
It was circulating the Internet.
I think yesterday I saw it.
People were talking about it.
That would be awesome.
This would be it.
Yeah, that would be insanity.
Purple.
Yeah, especially.
We're going to Ireland next week.
Talk about Irish royalty.
Yeah.
Honey Fimba is the man.
All right, Kaboli.
Enjoy the rest of the day.
Enjoy the kid.
Hopefully, you'll have an Iron City.
Celebrate all the success later when you're not driving.
And we can't wait to experience a year alongside of you, pal.
All right.
Thanks for everything, guys.
You're the best.
And we'll see you around soon enough.
All right.
You got it. Ladies and gentlemen, Mark Kaboli. Yeah, guys. You're the best. We'll see you around soon enough. You got it.
Mark Aboli.
Yeah.
I can't wait.
He's jacked up.
He's jacked up.
I hope he kissed the ring of the Lord of the Marks.
Who's that?
The one and only Sam Roberts.
I'm excited to see Sam Roberts' reaction to
the addition of another journalist. Michael Cole Roberts, of course. I'll be excited to see Sam Roberts' reaction to the
addition of another journalist.
Yeah. You know, Michael Cole, obviously
out of Syracuse, big-time journalist.
Then you got
Jackie Redmond,
Kathy Kelly.
Who's on
SmackDown, backstage
correspondents.
Corey Graves,
obviously, a journalist.
Megan Morant,
and I'm the host of the Bump Journals, I do believe.
True.
Sam Roberts, the
last professional broadcaster.
Is that what he calls himself?
I believe that is what he calls himself, yes.
But now you enter Kaboli journalism
right into the fray.
Is there a realignment all of a sudden
of the pecking order in this entire journal?
I could see that.
Who's got more experience, you know?
Sam.
Yeah, Sam.
Sam went to Syracuse, right?
Did he, I think?
I think he's a Syracuse guy, for real.
I don't know.
Maybe.
Sammy Syracuse.
Syracuse Sam.
Syracuse Sam,racuse Sam. Syracuse Sam is confirmed.
Okay.
Where Caboli goes?
What journal?
IUP?
He played football at Pitt, didn't he?
Maybe Wilkes-Barre?
I think so.
No, I think he lied about playing football at Pitt.
Carnegie Mellon, maybe?
Yeah, maybe Carnegie Mellon.
Yeah.
MIT?
Maybe Yale?
He's a Cal U guy.
Cal U, of course.
That's California University of Pennsylvania. Yeah. MIT. Maybe Yale. He's a Cal U guy. Cal U, of course. That's California University of Pennsylvania.
Not the Golden Bears.
Not Berkeley.
California University of Pennsylvania.
They have a good time. He used to host a soccer tournament
every year. He used to travel up there and a soccer camp.
Is that a town called California?
I don't think so.
I don't think so.
Okay. The town is called California?
Is it a satellite campus of Cal?
Once you hit your head one more time.
Maybe the city is called Cal.
I don't know enough about Cal U.
He also spent some time at WCC as well.
California, Penn West, California.
I don't think that.
That's not it.
That's not it.
Cal U is the school.
California University.
Oh, that's where he went.
Oh.
Okay, he went. Oh, that is Cal U.
Wait a minute.
Penn West, California.
They changed that.
That is not what...
That was Cal U, very clearly.
Good time school.
Which Kaboli makes sense.
But obviously when Kaboli is one of the
graduates of your journalism
broadcasting school
that is heightened, gets state funding.
Exactly.
Gets a lot more prestigious.
Yeah, like Syracuse.
Syracuse, Sam, and everybody wants Syracuse.
So it's just kind of a part of the conversation.
Cal U is Kaboli's Cal.
Yeah.
You know, that is actually the journalism pipeline is the Kaboli Avenue.
School of journalism.
How about him working for WWE now, our show.
Just fired on Monday.
I did talk to him on Monday.
What happened?
It's been real, you know, because I talked to him immediately after it happened
because I had the same thoughts as a lot of people had as soon as they read the tweet.
It's like, all right, so we're not going to let Kaboli just be fucking unemployed here.
Like Kaboli.
Since I'm 15 years old, he's been covering the Pittsburgh Steelers.
I've obviously seen the Kaboli experience take place in Pittsburgh.
People know Kaboli.
He's done a lot of great things.
That is not him.
Are we sure?
That is not.
Isn't that a Cal U?
That is not Kaboli.
It might be, but AI and D-Bone and our graphics department,
this one is not passing the eye test for me.
That looks like a Cal U singlet, though.
No.
It sure does.
No.
I don't think that is.
I mean, it could be, actually.
I'm pretty.
It's pretty jock.
It looks like Otis a little bit.
Yeah, he's got a lot of Otis in him.
Yeah, he does.
I've seen people say that.
Yeah, he certainly does.
But as soon as I saw, you know,
Caboli was potentially in a bad spot.
This close to NFL season, too.
So, like, you know, they talk about teams
already having their money spent at this stage
and everything like that.
I assume that newspapers and any place that writers write
already have their season budget figured out
for where they're going to be.
Big time, yeah.
So for this close to the season for it to happen, you know, it was just like, all right, Caboli.
I called him.
What's going on?
He was in the dumps.
Yeah.
He was very much in the dumps.
Yeah, he said he didn't even know what he said to you that day.
Yeah, he was.
I did not expect him to be that in the dumps because, like, my initial thought, if you're as hot as Kaboli is in the streets,
and you become a free agent, that's good news, not bad news.
So that kind of was my messaging for Kaboli.
But in the writer's world, I guess that is not necessarily always true.
And I said, well, good news, Kaboli, you're not just a writer.
You're a fucking on-air personality.
Yeah, exactly.
So I offered him a gig, and then I said said we'll just kind of figure out what it is
So first priority for that
And then the WWE thing coming together
Is fucking hysterical
It's just so funny to think about
Just him
Why not? It makes so much sense
What Braun Breaker's been doing
I haven't seen anything like this since
And then that's a headline potentially
At WWE.com And then headlines on the headline potentially at WWE.com. And then headlines
on the websites obviously make it into the
video packages.
It's like Kaboli now.
He's in.
He is in the universe.
Will he be a part of the post-conference?
Yeah, he has to be.
I think he would have to be.
What would be Mark Kaboli of the Pat McAfee show?
I think it would be Mark Kaboli WWE.com Pat McAfee show. I think he would have to. Front row. What would be Mark Caboli of the Pat McAfee Show? I think it would be Mark Caboli, WWE.com, Pat McAfee Show.
I think that would be what he would be.
Also for Steelers, too.
Would that be his title for the Steelers?
I think maybe.
Maybe Pat McAfee Show and WWE.com.
I mean, that would be a funny every question.
Mark Caboli, Pat McAfee Show, WWE.com.
So, Coach, I was wondering.
He's winning a Royal Rumble.
Two weeks he was suspended.
Yeah.
He wasn't allowed to cover the Steelers.
Really?
Locked them out of his computer, I guess.
So, my main questioning to him was like, what did you do?
Like, what?
Like, this can't be a – and I think it's all work – I think it was all work related
from what I've been told.
From what I've been told. From what I've been told.
All work related with the athletic.
And I think they're potentially doing some, you know, maneuvering.
Just like I heard ESPN is doing some maneuvering.
Just learned that today.
But, like, so I think it just potentially happened and bang, you're gone.
We see an opportunity here.
So we saw an opportunity as well.
All right, before we get out of here, we did a couple of them.
And there's more. I got a lot of ideas
for Kaboli.
So many ideas.
I don't know how many hours he has in a day.
Tone, let's go to
Hammer.
What did we mess up today, Tone? What did we not talk about?
You guys didn't mess up
anything.
You guys are
swinging a hot stick.
I've been keeping close vigilance on
you guys as well, like listening really good.
So you guys are doing
that was not sarcastic. I know my voice
sounded sarcastic.
One thing I did want to say
before we get out of here, I've been doing
a lot of research in the book.
It's in the book.
It's in the book. One of the things I want to talk about was Nebraska of research in the book. It's in the book, okay, if anybody needs those. Available now, start up, have a show. It's in the book.
One of the things I want to talk about was Nebraska over-under on the season.
It is 7-1⁄2, okay?
And Rule in year two at Temple had four-plus wins than he did in year one at Temple.
And in year two at Baylor, he had six-plus wins in year one than he did at Baylor.
They were 5- seven last year.
So if you do the math, you know, you're looking at a nine win season potentially for Nebraska.
I have them favored in their first seven weeks of the year.
So I wouldn't be surprised if Nebraska started seven and oh, and they're over under is seven
and a half.
So I was just, you know, before we get out of here, maybe a little advice from the book.
It's in a book. Maybe take a look, you know, before we get out of here, maybe a little advice from the book.
It's in a book.
Maybe take a look at Nebraska's over total on the season.
Okay, they got Colorado, obviously, week two.
So you just said a lot there without saying it directly.
They'll be favored.
But, okay, because the first week is what you're saying?
No, no, no.
They'll just be favored because they're home against Colorado.
And Colorado's total, I think, is four and a half.
Okay, so the books, that's what the books feel about it. But the hype machine will be
behind Colorado big. It will not
be behind Nebraska much going into that particular
game. What happens week one with Colorado
against, you know,
North Dakota State? Certainly,
I mean, hey, that's a
wake-up. That's a wake-up to a season.
You can't be slow off
the blocks with North Dakota State coming
around because that is their, I don't want to say their Super
Bowl, but that's going to be the most
publicized game they have of the year until
the National Championship.
So the way they're viewing it and have been treating
it, I'm not saying Colorado isn't doing the same, but that could be
a, that could change a lot
of conversations. Other than West Virginia, Penn State,
but that conversation could change.
Nebraska, funny you bring them up.
That Matt Rule video of him coaching the boys up,
and I don't know if you got the chance to see this, AJ,
it clearly depicts why he's a good coach.
Doesn't put anybody down, doesn't swear, doesn't flub,
expresses disappointment, and lifts up at the same exact time.
This one video that we're about to run here,
I think perfectly depicts why Matt Rule has had so much success
that he has had at college ball.
Look at me real quick.
If you guys want to know why we've lost a lot of close games,
you just saw it, okay?
We thud here, but because there's people watching,
you don't want to look stupid because you're not leveraging the football.
We're just grabbing people and pulling them down,
which means either you're not a good athlete
or you're not doing what we're trained to do.
Our seniors, their first drive, they go sit on the bench and practice. Appreciate it. We're just grabbing people and pulling them down. Which means either you're not a good athlete or you're not doing what we're trained to do.
Our seniors, their first drive, they go sit on the bench and then practice.
Appreciate it.
And a fight breaks out.
A fight breaks out in front of the fans.
So I'll make my point.
But this is why we lose.
Because the minute there's people here, we don't do what we do anymore.
How about we have pride in the way we practice, Jamari?
Do your job the right way while we're out here.
Yes?
Do everything right. You can't change your shot with Do your job the right way while we're out here. Yes? Yes, sir. Do everything right.
You can't change your shot with the game on the line.
You do what you do.
And I'm demanding you do it right.
I promise you this will be a long night.
For no reason other than I'm not losing.
And that was losing.
Not the result.
The process sucked.
So go to the rest of the practice.
And I expect a standard, Ty.
I expect a standard from you older guys.
It's time to win. It's time to win.
Winning is every day. Let's get to it.
Let's get to work.
Hey, what a message, AJ.
Obviously, we've all been a part of one of those situations at practice or have seen that
before. I saw there were some people that saw that
video and responded like, well, Nebraska's
fucked for the years. I saw the complete opposite there.
That's what I saw.
AJ, is that how you viewed it as well?
Yeah, I view it as hugely positive for Nebraska
and what they're doing and what the future looks like.
Yeah, it's tough to do that and get on your team
and not personally attack guys at the same time.
Rule did a perfect job, I feel like, of letting them know,
okay, this is not the standard we have.
We're not doing this anymore and kept it pretty positive.
I would assume they had a much better practice
after that. I would assume they tightened up a little bit.
I appreciate him. He can't change
your shot when the game's on the line. All the
little messages that he put in there, I assume they
hammer home. But it's like that's a moment
that could really, you know, we address
what all happened. We all agree that what
just took place. Now we move on. They bought
in. Seven and a half, Tone?
Seven and a half, my friend. And I just looked it up. in. Seven and a half, Tone? Seven and a half, my friend.
And I just looked it up. They are six and a half point
favors at home against Colorado
in week two. Damn.
Here we go. Alright, well
good luck, Coach. I loved watching that.
In front of the program, but I enjoyed watching him coach.
That's like a real coaching moment there.
That's like when you learn about the coach.
That's coaching. And that's a
coaching moment that happened there in front of their fans
at a scrimmage instead of at a home game where you drop it
and you lose a game that you know you shouldn't have lost.
Like, yeah, take care of that now.
Don't let it happen later.
How are you feeling about Ohio State?
You got boots on the ground over there at practice?
How's everybody doing?
Are they flying around, buzzing around?
Oh, yeah, they're looking great.
Yeah, they, you know, I think vibes are very high.
You know, General Bob has been there on and off, I think, the majority of practices.
I think everything is looking up for the Bucs.
Ohio State will have Will Howard be the starter.
That has been announced.
He's a big dude.
I don't know if you guys realize, this guy's a big dude that can run the ball, too.
Yeah, and also a great player for Kansas State for a very long time.
And I think that's why we all just assumed he was going to be the starter.
Correct.
As soon as it was announced that he was transferred, Coach Ryan Day wanted to
handle it and have competition because I assume they got 10-star recruits and quarterback in there
and other people there that potentially wanted the job. Ryan Day couldn't just say his transfer
coming in is going to be the starter. I assume that's where the balance was. But us who got a
chance to see Will Howard play at Kansas State and watch what he did, it's like this guy's a real
ball player.
This guy is quite an upgrade.
And then you've got the running back upgrade.
Who's the running back who's untackleable?
Judd Judkins.
Judd Judkins from Ole Miss is now on Ohio State as a running back.
Still have the weapons, and they also have the running back from Henderson.
Henderson is still there.
Yeah, then you add Caleb. Jeremiah, you've got a whiteout that is a freak of nature who's a true freshman,
Jeremiah Smith. I saw him in person
and couldn't believe how big and strong this guy is.
That Tate kid also last year,
he was a true freshman. They were like, this Tate kid's going to
be an absolute star. So let's assume
the weapons are going to be five stars,
which is Ohio State football. Offensive line,
are they going to be good?
That's always the question, I guess, but
everyone says they're good.
Okay.
They said it's the biggest question mark on the team,
just because the rest of the team is so good.
It always is, I feel like, you know,
because we don't really know offensive linemen.
We know the star players that are getting the ball,
but you don't really know linemen like that.
Yeah, and you also don't know how they're going to gel, you know,
because if you have the five best offensive linemen,
it doesn't mean they're going to be the best offensive line.
You know, offensive line is a unity type thing.
So buying in, knowing where each other are, working together is a big deal.
That takes some time.
Do they have returners on that offensive line, Tone Diggs?
What's the returners on that offensive line?
I want to say it was two or three.
I could look it up real quick.
Didn't he get the center from Bama?
Is that where he trained?
Oh, yeah, he did.
He had, obviously, massive success down at Bama.
Caught a little case of the centers, but then he's back up there.
He'll be past that.
Then you've got Caleb Dines on the defensive side transferring there.
Anybody else on the defensive side, pass rushers?
So they bring back everyone.
They bring back literally three all-conference guys on the D-line.
I can never – JT.
I can't pronounce JT's name.
Jack Sawyer.
And then the other guy inside.
And then they bring up Denzel Burke, a corner who was all conference.
And obviously they bring in Downs who was all conference.
Linebacker, they do lose – what was his name?
33.
Eichenberg.
Eichenberg.
So they've got to replace him.
But other than that, I mean, the defense is – they bring back a ton.
Yeah, just like Urban said and Trestle,
this is the best team I've ever seen
ever. Best college football
team ever.
Chip Kelly, Ryan Day.
Who's DC?
Knowles. Jim Knowles.
But, um...
His third year. General Bob?
General Bob is consulting. He's Big Dom.
Okay. Consigliere, yeah.
He's big Dom for the Ohio State.
He's on the sideline.
What's he doing?
Who knows?
But he's there.
Raising players.
Making team better.
Did you see Jameis on the program?
That was cool.
He was awesome.
Honestly, what a positive, uplifting dude.
He feels like, yeah, that's him.
Feels super real.
I love it.
I'm just doing what's required.
Whatever's required. Five-year guy. He's great. Feels super real. Like, I love it. I'm just doing what's required. You know, whatever's required.
Five-year guy.
He's great.
What a great dude for the lot.
What a great quarterback to have.
And I don't even want to label him a backer,
but what a great guy to have in there in that quarterback room, I feel like.
Glue.
You know, feels like glue.
Because it's a long season.
Stressful season.
You know, it goes like this.
Gets monotonous.
Gets tiring.
Gets exhausting.
So, to have somebody who's just like an energizer bunny of positivity around is a weapon. It's an asset. You know, every business needs it.
NFL team's certainly not abnormal in that case because what Jameis is going to tell them week
15, week 14, hey, right now is the time we go. You know, we've had a couple missteps and adversity,
but who doesn't? and then he'll tell
some story about something and bang deshaun's about to play the best football he's ever played
and like what if deshaun watson does uh feel like a sense of not having to deal with all the shit
that maybe a starting quarterback has to deal with it looks like you know james winston who's
been a starter in the league proven in the league beloved in this locker room let him handle some of
that stuff let him help out like what has he seen before what does he think now that he can actually see yeah which was a big part of this whole thing you know he said
no no he said LASIK was a big deal I really couldn't see yeah especially for you I said
were you you were blind I wouldn't say I was blind I couldn't see stop signs and street signs
I couldn't say I would have to pull out my phone yeah that was crazy he had pulled his phone to
read the street sign like yeah you, you were close to being blind.
You were blind-blind.
And he was throwing the ball to humans all the time.
He won the Heisman, right?
He won the Heisman, didn't he?
And the Natty.
Led the NFL in touchdowns.
But on the flip side also, picks and pick sixes.
Yeah.
Also could have read a massive scoreboard.
Yeah, scoreboard.
How does he see the play clock that's ticking down?
Well, he doesn't.
That was the thing.
Yeah.
He's guessing.
He actually counts.
Yep.
He actually has something in his head, 24, 23.
22, 21, 22.
There's a lot going on.
All right, boys.
Here's the deal.
We need to 18, 17.
We need to.
That's James Winston football.
That's right.
For his best.
For the Browns.
Bonus ball.
For the Patriots.
Well.
Oh.
They're down.
Good to coach.
For the Eagles.
Oh, geez.
For the Packers.
Oh, man. Bonus ball the Packers. Oh, man.
Bonus ball, bonus ball, bonus ball.
Redemption.
Yeah.
Yeah, we knew it.
For the Packers, we got it.
Good sign.
That's a good sign.
Great sign.
All right.
Well, let's get to a break.
We'll be back tomorrow.
Can't thank you enough for allowing us to do this for a living.
Congratulations to Kaboli on our game in WWE.
Hell, yeah.
Boy, Mark.
Living a dream. Shot the ice cube coming through, Kyle Long,
James Winston, obviously AJ, the boys in the back.
Great work today, boys.
Great work, boys.
Good work, boys.
Good work, boys.
You guys, I don't know.
Yeah, Mark Kaboli, say extremely humble to be joined by Pat McShay,
the Steelers correspondent in WWE.
So it is him, it was him.
Yeah. Okay, so, all right. He sent it. So it is him. It was him. Yeah.
Okay, so, all right.
He sent it over.
How else would he get that picture?
Yeah, his wife took that pic.
Okay, sweet.
Last night.
All right, so now we know.
Now everybody knows.
Yeah, last night.
Yeah, that was last night.
We found out.
Hey, throw your singlet on and let me spray you down.
We're going to pick this.
We're going to follow you up.
Do the hair.
Let me do the hair.
All right, we'll be back tomorrow.
You guys are the greatest.
Tomorrow we got Vince Vaughn on.
We said that yesterday, but tomorrow we got Vince Vaughn on. We said that yesterday, but
tomorrow we got Vince Vaughn on.
Something popped up in production today,
so you need to push through tomorrow.
I watched the first episode. It's going to be good.
Me as well. I watched it as well.
Good premise.
A lot of Vince Vaughn, Vince Vaughning.
You know?
A lot of the keys are, like, the location
is a big part of the show yeah so
the wife and i uh head to the keys a lot that is like uh one of our main getaways so we talk about
the key deer you know sam has like six key deer down where we head to that are like pets that
whenever she shows up they're like dogs that walk around where he was walking you know down the
street a couple different times like well me and sam about road bikes there walk we've been there
it looks awesome i appreciate the fact that these entertainers and actors and writers and
stuff like i want to go to the keys for three months so let's write a show that needs to be
in an island and this is great premise he's a detective suspect you know who needs to do some
detecting okay but what he goes through while he's detecting
worthy.
Pumped to watch. Love it. It's good. A lot of
Vince Vaughn stuff. A lot of Vince Vaughn scenes.
Need that. A lot of...
Vince Vaughn, Vince Vaughn. Yeah.
Vince Vaughn, Vince Vaughn. It's good. He'll be joining
us tomorrow, we think. This feels
like... There's a chance
this one gets pushed off. Doesn't it,
AJ? Does it? Yeah. Something happened today. Well, pushed off. Doesn't it, AJ?
Does it?
Yeah.
Something happened today.
Well, the show came out, what, Wednesday?
Today's Thursday.
I don't know.
Yeah, but he's probably filming something else, maybe.
Who knows what he's filming right now?
Something about the production.
But if something goes from Thursday to Friday,
it feels like the easy answer is like,
well, maybe next week. We'll get you next week.
And then, you know, Vince Vaughn is Vince Vaughn.
So it's not easy.
Hopefully he'll be on tomorrow.
Fingers crossed.
We are big fans.
Bad Monkey, though.
It's available on Apple.
I only saw one episode.
Was there multiple available?
I checked.
They put two out.
And then, so I did that.
I think which is the model we talked about.
I haven't seen the second one yet.
Yeah, I'll watch the second one tonight.
Good show.
Good show.
Can't wait to talk to him.
And if he's getting back into shit.
Good news. Yes, absolutely.
Great news. Alright, tomorrow should be awesome.
We can't thank enough. Hopefully you'll join us. Be a friend, tell a friend something nice.
It might change your life. We're in this thing together.
Team on me. Team on three.
1, 2, 3, team. Bye.
