Hello beautiful people and welcome to our Humble Abode, the Thunderdome.
On this Aaron Rodgers Tuesday, September 17th, 2024, this program starts right now.
Football!
Wrapped up, it's week two of NFL season, week three of college football season with a bang
last night as the Atlanta Falcons pull off a minute and five comeback drive late in the
fourth quarter for Kirk Cousins and Raheem Morris
to get their first win of this brand-new era down in Atlanta for the Falcons.
Now, for the Eagles, there's a lot of question marks.
We'll obviously talk about it all today.
Aaron Rodgers will be joining us in about 30 minutes.
Remember, they have a game on Thursday, so it might be a little bit of a quicker week.
Sure.
Might be a little fast-acting.
You know, this is standard operating procedure for these Thursday night games with Aaron.
He'll be live from the facility, I assume, if this is anything like this has happened in the past.
We'll try to get in and see how he's feeling after his second win for the New York Jets,
which he corrected a member of the press in his press conference after the game.
Because if you do recall, in that game last year when he ran out with the American flag on September 11th,
he started that game.
Here's him chatting about it after the game.
What does first one suggest?
Technically my second.
We all know that.
Somehow that first one counts.
Four important plays.
Well, I don't know if they count on that.
Yeah, it feels great.
A little journalistic standards, he says.
I did get a start there.
That was a big-time punt return.
I do believe that won that game for them.
But I'm excited to see how he feels, how the building is,
and how are things coming together over there for the New York Jets fan base
that feel like, you know, we're all the way back.
Oh, yeah.
Then also we'll be joined by Dan Orlovsky in his second hour.
What? Hey!
The return of the Dan.
Can't wait to see how that goes.
Very excited to see how that goes.
But also his thoughts on
everything happening on a football field
for the NFL.
More specifically at the quarterback position.
But today's going to be a great day.
Talks tables here at Boss O'Connor and at Ty Schmidt.
One after the hammer. Cowboys
AP Tone is here looking great.
Thank you. I appreciate it. Hey, the Gomblers
did not bode well this weekend and last
night just really stuck a fork in all of us.
Isn't that accurate?
Yep, everyone was on the Eagles.
Basically, one in nine teams who are five and a half points or more
is what they are on the year, which is just, listen,
this earlier in the year, it's pretty good to take the dogs right now
because nobody knows anything, and if you're going to get points,
you can take those points and just run with them.
Yeah, and also, speaking of of taking points maybe take field goals
yeah you know whenever they're potentially available because in 2022 in 2023 we were in a
quick time of like offense is so good we're gonna try to score touchdowns all the time 2024 feels
like field goals are the golden jewel This is what we are looking for.
Seven straight field goals won a game the other day for the Washington Commanders against the New York Giants.
Then six field goals in Week 1 for Boswell won them.
Six field goals for Jake Moody in Week 1 won them that particular game.
It's like field goals are now a precious commodity
because how defenses have been able to walk down in the red zone.
And I know Michael Lombardi, who will be joining us on Thursday,
was not thrilled with what was happening with the Philadelphia Eagles,
he said, and again, the rewards the team with the most points.
Why aren't we taking the three points?
And guys like this that have been around football a long time
have been yelling at the clouds for a while
since field goals became kind of obsolete there for a bit.
But now it feels like in this particular season,
with how good defenses have seemingly got
down in the red zone in a tight area,
you've got to get those three points.
And if you have a great kicker,
which is seemingly all across the league everywhere right now,
that is a massive benefit.
So at fourth and four with Jake Elliott,
know he's going to knock that home anyways.
Last year, two years ago, I think right play.
Right now with the trends that we're seeing in the NFL,
take the points whenever you can get them.
I know the Philadelphia Eagles probably don't feel that way, but I think that is the trend across the NFL. And then at the very end of the game, I heard you say, just run the ball.
Yeah. Just run the ball. Philadelphia Eagles are up three. I think a lot of people potentially
fell asleep either near this area here as they're watching another primetime game. Third and three,
they've been running the ball well all night. Saquon Barkley's there. Atlanta Falcons, no timeout. Drop the ball. Stop the clock. You gave a timeout to
the Atlanta Falcons. You didn't have one very late into the game. Also, you don't pick up the first
down. So now a field goalie makes it six points, which means what? Oh, the Falcons can win this.
Falcons can win this game. And guess what they would go on to do they would kirk cousins would operate in a prime
time moment in a two-minute drill with no timeouts as if he wasn't playing against another team
it was literally just them playing against air they were able to do whatever the hell they want
they almost drove the ball down too quickly at the end of the game peyton manning and his watch along
on the manning cast alongside matt ryan and eli manning were like hold on now let's not score too
fast he's like we didn't even know if you were going to be able to score a touchdown
against a very stingy Philadelphia Eagles defense.
But instead, they got down so quickly that people were worried
that they were going to score too fast and give Jalen Hurts an opportunity at the end.
Instead, touchdown, London, who loses his mind.
Oh, my God.
Sorry about it, Philadelphia.
We just scored a touchdown on Monday night in another building
with less than a minute to take the lead, potentially.
Now, this just ties it, obviously,
but a situation that would happen immediately after this touchdown
where he's spraying peace.
That was two fingers.
All over the place.
He's spraying peace.
He's a peace sprinkler out there.
Not in anybody's face.
Only with his teammate.
Near the sideline.
Spraying peace.
We're calling a penalty on that?
I don't know. Then you go back to the Jalen Hurts run from earlier in the
game where he picks up a massive fourth down.
Gets tackled. Gets excited.
Not in anybody's face. Not in anybody's
face. Just kind of does his
thing. Loses his mind at
home. Once again, Monday Night Football.
Big run.
Hey! Not in anybody's face
you're celebrating and i know we learned you can't spike the ball can't spike the ball on the field
it's automatically apparently it's like i guess we can't have any feel with anything because in
the fourth quarter if you have feeling people hate it you get mad but after the touchdown in
the fourth quarter less than a minute left for For him to, you know, and I understand that could have been fireworks.
Yeah, exactly.
Could have been fireworks.
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
Super soaker.
This guy's, you know, one of the –
Roman candles.
Yeah, could have been a big old Roman candle.
Because I know the Philadelphia Eagles are probably sending off fireworks
whenever they score over there.
They've got a good building, good barn over there.
He said, we just want a little bit of that.
So instead,
instead of a 33-yard extra point, which is obviously
much more difficult than a 20-yard extra point
it used to be, Young-Wei Ku is tasked with
knocking down a 48-yard
game-winning one-point kick. That's all
it is. And boom! Right down
the center. He misses that, though?
Now, Young-Wei Ku is a
great kicker. I understand that he's missed some kicks, obviously.
No kicker has ever been completely perfect, but Young-Wei Ku is an absolute great kicker. I understand that he's missed some kicks, obviously. No kicker has ever been completely perfect,
but Young-Wei Koo is an absolute dog.
He knocks that right down the middle.
But if he misses that kick, Eagles come back and win in overtime,
and they're talking about on a side.
That guy was on the sideline with his teammates, not in anybody's face.
I mean, I guess if you immediately think that's a gun, that's on you.
You're right.
That is on you more so.
Yeah, that is. But for that to be like, that's on you that is on you more so that yeah that that is but for that to be like that's
a massive call 15 yards for that kick at that moment it's like all right i understand unless
there was a memo sent out like hey let's make sure let's make sure these guys aren't celebrating
too much things are getting a little bit you remember there was a time in the nfl where they
said uh no dancing.
That's right.
Nobody's dancing.
Footloose.
You better put your damn socks all the way up to your thing.
We want people to look the exact same.
We don't want any flavor.
We don't want any sauce.
We don't want any identifying factors that could separate you from everybody else on the field.
And the reason why that was an idea, I think, is because they just wanted to be able to just pick people up and then we can just replace them.
Okay. It's number this
that is playing, not this person. They didn't
want any self shit, which I completely
understand if you're trying to run a business
and replicate it just forever and ever.
With that being said, the entire audience,
everybody watching said,
this is kind of boring. We need personalities.
We're actually following along for some
of the theatrics, for the passion the emotion and they change those rules back if you remember there was
an entire swing uh of things coming can't be crazy but you are allowed to be happy you did something
good you're allowed to do that again and now with these things happening it's like yo come jalen
hurts we're on money this is a big stage huge at home especially after everything that happened
last year with jalen hurts in there for him to do that and them to call it in technical. This is a big stage. Huge. At home. Especially after everything that happened last year with Jalen Hurts in there.
For him to do that
and them to call it
in technicality,
it is a penalty.
And we're saying the same thing
about pass interference
late in the fourth.
You have to call it yada yada
because it's a rule.
But this just feels stupid to me
to let this be a penalty.
And then for the thing
at the end of the game
to call that,
it's like,
if that's a make good penalty
because of this,
okay, vastly different times
and situations.
But we can't get into policing emotion and passion.
We want that to happen.
Everybody talks about college football.
Well, they love who they're playing for.
They love the passion.
You know, it's different than the NFL where they're just playing for the paycheck.
Now, I don't know if those people still feel that way with how college football is going and everything like that.
But that used to be a thing.
Then whenever guys showcase emotion and passion, all of a sudden it's a penalty. It's like, I don't like that. But that used to be a thing. Then whenever guys showcase emotion and passion,
all of a sudden it's a penalty.
It's like, I don't like that.
I like people to be pumped up.
And if people are stone cold killers after things they do, cool.
Let them do that.
But the guys that are excited and pumped and want to dance and celebrate,
if they're doing it with their teammates and not towards the other team,
who cares?
Now, I will not say anything negative about last night because that was a
primetime game with a late fourth quarter comeback and kirk cousins did something that i think he has
done on a much more regular basis than people give him credit for there's a stat that came out last
night oh yeah kirk cousins has the second most final minute overtime comeback drives since 2015
behind derrick carr which i'm surprised he didn't get flagged for touching the pet of his henus
during his celebration.
What?
The pet?
The pet of his henus.
Yeah, you're right.
He did.
I mean, and did a little move there.
But Kirk Cousins, you know, in primetime has been able to play good,
even though people don't really give him that much credit for it.
I love the game last night. I enjoyed it all. I i watched the manning cast what's the big takeaway for you d
butch uh are you embarrassed by what the philadelphia eagles defense did to kirk cousins on that last
drive i mean how does that happen that was way way way too easy if you run the clips you're
throwing back up they're just easy very very predictable you come out run quarter quarter
half that's quarters on one side. Cover two to the other side.
Give Kirk a quick, easy completion.
I was watching the Manning cast, and all three of the quarterbacks were like,
hey, get an easy completion for the first play.
At some point during the drive, you want to get an explosive.
I believe on the next play, same coverage, just flipped it.
So cover two to the right side, to the rookie side.
He played the short route, let the deep corner in right behind him.
Once again, way too easy.
Then they go single high, man-to-man, and Kirk hits a couple more guys.
So way too easy for them to just walk it down and punch it into the end zone.
Gave Philly some time, though.
Gave Philly some time.
They had a chance, and then Jesse Bates closed it out.
He's been worth every penny since Atlanta brought him over,
made some big plays early in the game,
made the interception to seal it at the end with Hurts throwing it up.
But it was a great game.
I thought it was a great game.
It got kind of boring at some points, but then pick it up in the fourth quarter.
First third and a half quarter.
Well, that's why you have the man in the game.
And when you lose a game like this, I mean, all of us, you know,
always look at the last play and say, oh, Slay.
Slay lost the game.
Or Saquon when he dropped the ball because a lot of people were saying run it.
But at the end of the day, that was a good play.
And that's your big money player.
That's why you bring Saquon over.
You get him in the flat.
He gets that first down.
It's over.
Nick Sirianni not taking the three earlier.
So we can all look at ourselves and point at different things
with why we lost the game.
But Atlanta went out there and won it.
Shout out to Kirk Cousins.
That's why they brought him over and paid that money.
And Rahim and Kirk got their first win as a Falcon.
Yeah, we have a request in to talk to Coach Rahim Morris
after his first big win back with the Atlanta Falcons.
Everybody wanted him to run the ball because they were having success running the ball.
But to your point there, D-Butch, best play, right?
What's your best play right now?
Because you get a first down, game over.
No timeouts for Atlanta Falcons.
So here's a little easy football math.
If the other team has no timeouts and you have a first down
at the two-minute warning or under, game over.
So that is the goal, is to get to the two-minute warning with the other team with no timeouts and you have a first down.
So you'll see a lot of decisions get made to get to that point.
They get a first down right here.
This is game-winning play right here.
So everybody's saying run the ball, run the ball, kill the clock.
Agree, agree, agree.
But in Sirianni's head and Kellen Moore's head,
who likes to run up the scoreboard.
He does, right.
He likes to run up the numbers.
Mike McCarthy talked about Kellen Moore making a decision to throw the ball
instead of run the ball a few times.
And he said, I've been there.
I've been like Kellen Moore.
I want to run up the scoreboard and everything like that.
I think it's what they thought was best play.
Because if he had been running the ball very well,
look how sucked up everybody gets.
So, like, that's an easy, hey, we're going to run it. Everybody everybody gets up in there he's wide open in the flat they get a first down it's
over so i i don't hate that call as much as everybody else seemingly did i will certainly
chat with lombardi about it whenever you know he comes out on the show on thursday because if
that's the third string running back okay but it's say quan bark like that's christian mccaffrey if
that's alvin kamara like that's all right if i'm a coordinator i'm play caller hey let me put the Third-string running back, okay. But it's Saquon Barkley. That's Christian McCaffrey.
That's Alvin Kamara.
Like, that's – all right, if I'm a coordinator and I'm a play caller,
hey, let me put the ball in my best player's hand.
Now, there is an element of risk every time you pass the ball.
And when you have a play like the tush push, when you can't run it and, hey,
Saquon, get us at least two and we know if we have that one yard left,
I like our chance to get it.
So, I 100% agree and understand the run the ball, run the ball, but this is a great play. It's a great play design.
Gotta have it situation. Bill, you always talk
about him. He's your best player, so I'm sure
Saquon, he wants the
opportunity to get in and make up for it. Well, it would have been
a great play. It was
a great play. It wasn't a great
play because they didn't get it. It would have been
awesome. You're so results
oriented. Exactly, I am.
Look, you want
to drain the clock. That's the old
school thing to do and these new school
dudes love winning the game with their
cool, great plays.
But they do have two plays
to get two yards.
They just have to get two yards on that third
down and then the tush push is an automatic
first down. It has been.
It wasn't last year, right?
We got stopped a few times last year.
Kelsey's not in it anymore.
I mean, I wonder if there is a little bit of worry.
Now, they got a touchdown earlier.
I get it.
They did run it to success.
But I wonder if there is a question on whether or not
can Jurgens' ass get down and lose Jason Kelsey's hand.
But their whole entire thing, like Sirianni,
what was his thing with Howie?
Oh, like D-line, Howie.
Oh, like D-line.
So it's like, all right, you paid, obviously you paid Saquon,
and you're trying to put it in his hands where, you know,
running backs, you can hand the ball to him.
And then you also paid all those guys up front.
You just gave Dickerson a bunch of money this offseason,
my lot of Lane Johnson.
I would just think that a guy who yells
O-line, D-line, Howie.
O-line, D-line. That you would just decide
hey, let's just go behind the
O-line and let's see what we can do.
And then if they don't get it on that third
down, let's say they do lose a couple yards,
then what do they have? They have a minute left
maybe, 55 seconds
to score. I thought it was Asinine.
I just did. Obviously, great play call.
I mean, who would have thought, you know, on a third? Bingo. That's what I'm saying. That's just
like Gus Bradley. Gus Bradley was thinking everybody thinks they're going to run the ball.
There's no way they actually run the ball. Cover deep. It wasn't ready. It wasn't ready. You know,
it's just like the reasoning behind the play call, I think from Kellen Moore's standpoint,
as he's explaining to Sirianni why the clock was stopped when the other team
doesn't have a timeout, we only need to get three yards
over two, is like, hey, that was
best play. And all the things that you said
is probably why Kellen says it.
We have a great offensive line. Saquon's been pounding
it. That was an easy sell
for the Atlanta Falcons defense to
all buy in. And they did.
But it's like, that's a
pitch and catch that has happened thousands of times probably in Saquon's life and in Jalen's life so for not to happen in
that exact moment obviously uh Murphy's Law what could go wrong did go wrong they end up kicking
a field goal there uh go up six could have been up nine uh-huh you know right now granted you
go back two quarters and say that a decision made then changes every other decision that happens going forward, possibly.
But points are a premium right now.
I think coaches are going to find out that you've got to take them.
I think that is going to become something.
There was a situation before the game that Sirianni might have thought,
man, maybe I'm not on the same page with anybody anyways.
Maybe Sirianni didn't know Kellen Moore was going to call that play.
Sirianni assumed it was going to be a run.
You know, OC, head coach, maybe he wasn't listening.
Maybe he was, you know, juicing up a voice.
We just won a game.
Who knows?
Maybe Kellen Moore has to explain himself to Sirianni.
But what about Sirianni's son?
Before the game, I don't know if he saw what was happening, coach.
Well, yeah.
I mean, you know, we're going out there warming up a little bit,
and he stands, you know, six yards away from me.
I said, fucking go deep, okay?
What is it?
Go deep. Keep running. Keep running. I mean, fucking go deep, okay? What is it? Go deep.
Keep running.
Keep running.
I mean, granted, his arm's not lefty.
I don't remember my son being a lefty, but he spends it pretty good.
But no, I mean, we're not dicking around here, okay?
Yeah, the button hooks.
Yeah, keep going.
Go deep.
Trying to warm up my arm here, okay?
You want to see what Jalen's going to do tonight?
Fucking run to the back of the end zone, okay? Go deep.
His kid's got a Saquon Barkley jersey, which goes
to John Mara's point about Saquon
being the most popular
player on our team by
far. But Coach Sirianni
wanted to spin it a little bit.
He wanted to spin it a little bit, and
his kid just wouldn't back up.
It was, you know, interesting watching that game
kind of unfold.
You know, Jason Kelsey returning to Philadelphia was a fun thing to keep track of throughout the entire day.
Did you see the big tattoo, John?
Oh, man. Closed knee out.
Cheese and peas.
Yeah.
I missed it.
Think about in his head, though.
In his head, he tore his ACL chest bumping Jason Kelsey at Monday Night Football.
In his return.
That's like the perfect moment.
Those scars are going to be tatted now.
Oh yeah, with his face maybe.
Yeah, probably Jason Kelsey wrapped around it.
Maybe Jason will do the surgery.
Maybe there's a chance.
But the tatted Philadelphia John tore his ACL last night.
Chest bump, here it is, bam.
Bam, it's over.
He's got Philly Phanatic right there on his gut.
Yeah.
Oh man. I think I could jump Fanatic right there on his gut. Yeah. Oh, man. No.
I think I could jump.
I haven't jumped in years.
I think now is the time.
Santa Claus is up there.
Kelsey's got no idea.
No, he just tore a guy's ACL.
He does.
He just retreats off.
Just goes in with the mob and retreats off.
I'm done.
I.R.
His dance moves.
I didn't know he had those dance moves in him either.
Fletcher Cox, Nick Foles, Santa Claus, Jason Kelsey,
torn ACL on the Philly John.
And it was a hell of a night.
You're right, his dance moves were actually on the Today Show this morning.
Oh, really?
He was, I believe, very professional.
Stayed sober the entire time.
A lot of different opportunities for him to house a garage bureau 10.
He had Dom's Italian South Philly tuxedo on and he got
i mean he got after him just wait i mean he was yeah big dom gave him that because he forgot his
clothes he tried to get to the locker room big dom opened the locker room told him he's not a lot in
there then big dom uh told jason he has something for him it was a south philly tuxedo obviously a
lot of paisanos down there that's right had chains on, but look at him. That's sober, I believe.
I believe that is completely sober.
That's phenomenal stuff. I did not expect
it in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia went crazy for him.
How would this night end, you say?
Kirk Cousins marching right down the field.
Whatever the hell he wanted.
And then a fireworks display out of a hand.
A lot of peace. Good on Kirk.
Hell yeah. Pennix too.
The whole situation
that could be brewing,
they go 0-2.
Yeah.
Right there.
And then what's there say?
0-3 somehow.
It's going to get real loud
to put the top 10 pick in there.
Not only outside and media
and people that are trying
to drive up a little something,
but in the locker room
there's going to start
being some questions.
I saw somebody,
the Atlanta Falcons
social media asked,
who would be your goose whenever they're getting on a plane?
A couple people said Kirk Cousins.
A couple people said, I forget somebody.
Then I heard a Michael Penix answer, right?
And I was like, hold the phone.
Okay, so I don't know who that particular player is.
I should have done a little bit more research.
But they already enjoy Michael Penix.
I would say they'll be that.
And that's just a natural thing, especially this draft class, younger people might gravitate
towards Penix more.
So if Kirk doesn't win, and I know they're saying he paid $180 million, he's the guy,
he's the guy.
It's like locker room also being like, he's guy, okay, I get it.
We also got a guy who we like a lot.
That's a huge win for Kirk Cousins in Atlanta.
I was glad he just looked healthy.
He didn't look 100% week one.
This week, he was getting on the center more.
Dan Osei, getting back to the roots
of that Falcons offense, getting on the
center, some more play action, some more run game.
I was happy to see that.
Your goose, what's that? Is that Top Gun?
Yes. Maverick and Goose.
You know. Wake up. Obviously,
I know that's this guy. You watched Rooster last night.
I just said I love Goose's Boy.
I know the movie.
I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss something.
I didn't see the original, to be clear.
No.
What?
Yeah, I've never seen the original.
Pat.
Pat.
Don't tell him that.
That might be worse than me not seeing Mighty Ducks.
Whoa.
It's not.
I assure you it is not.

Quack. Quack. Quack. Quack. Quack. Quack. Quack. Quack. Quack. Qu are not. I'm wrong too. We're not seeing Mighty Ducks. That's gross.
But I have seen the second one. It is top notch. Still hits.
It is. Grazie. Grazie.
Big game this weekend between the Los Angeles Chargers
and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jim Harbaugh was asked about his thoughts on
the Pittsburgh Steelers and this is obviously
the answer that Harbaugh chose to give.
Playing against them as a player,
just, yeah, there's an aura there.
And just everybody I've ever met from Pittsburgh.
You know, I mean, there's nobody on this planet
I have more respect for than Ben Herbert.
And he's from Pittsburgh.
Just, I know the kind of football people that come out of the Berg.
It's real.
It's genuine.
It's unique.
Just nothing but respect for it.
Wow.
You guys are going to clap for him when he comes out on the field on Sunday?
I was going to say he won over quite a few Yinzers when he walks into
Akershire on Sunday.
Maybe a little bit less of a hostile environment before kickoff.
Once kickoff happens, that's all out the window.
It doesn't matter what he said.
But I am very, very excited for that game Sunday
because it feels like it's going to be a smash-mouth,
old-school Harbaugh versus Tomlin type game.
I'm very, very excited for that.
Yeah, I'm very excited as well.
And obviously I'd assume that Harbaugh and Coach Tomlin
have massive respect for each other.
J.K. Dobbins, obviously, we think is probably going to be
a pretty big part of the entire game.
He loves playing against Pittsburgh Steelers.
Said that yesterday.
And then Justin Herbert.
I know he's been like pretty boy.
Okay?
Pretty boy.
Kind of quiet.
Doesn't talk much.
He's got some sauce.
Listen to this from this past weekend's game.
Three, you see there.
Second down, it's four.
Hey, kill, kill, kill, kill.
Got a next play.
Go, go, go.
Go over.
Go over.
A little fire from Justin Herbert.
I love it.
As soon as they go kill, kill, kill, that means they're going to the next play,
which might mean we're going to the other side.
So it might have been lined up to go to the left.
Kill, kill, kill, we're going to the right.
What does that mean?
Well, lead blocker.
Go ahead.
We're moving.
We are moving.
So whenever he's saying go, go, go, he's talking to the fullback.
He's looking forward, hoping that he will remind him.
Then whenever he turns his head and sees him, come.
I mean, what are we even doing here?
I like that.
I like it.
I like that a lot.
I love it.
And you can only assume this comes from Harbaugh.
Being around him, obviously, you know, firing him up pregame.
We don't even see what's going on behind the scenes as far as practice is going,
training camp.
Kind of similar.
I see Harbaugh coming in and having an impact that kind of mike mcdaniel had on tour obviously different
players different styles but you always talk about the team taking on the personality head coach it
starts with that quarterback and justin herbert i think we're seeing a different side of him jk
has kind of talked about him a lot behind the scenes how he gets more fired up than we see
i love to see i love it i love love to see from Justin Herbert. Saw it a little bit from Luck.
Would have liked to see it a little bit more.
I think some of us see him more fired up, you know,
behind the scenes in the huddle because when you are that quarterback,
I know a lot of them are, you know, not as outwardly spoken,
hey, going to lead by example, but you need it.
You watch Peyton on the mannequins.
Like, I just watched him from the outside.
I'm like, yo, I know this dude was a maniac to play with weekend week out with your coach on that staff a trainer an equipment guy
Like he just raises everybody else's level and like so I love to see that just I think it showcases confidence
You know, and there's probably a lot of people that probably would say differently that haven't played in the sport
He lost school
There's there's potential that thought from somebody out there, not us, obviously.
But, like, when I saw that, I immediately was like, okay,
I like that on Justin Herbert.
Teammates like that, too.
Oh, yeah.
And even the guy that's getting, you know, chewed out at the moment
knows that he is a sacrificial at this exact moment
for how we need everything to be, you know, tightened up.
And then Harbaugh and Herbert, obviously, unofficial at this exact moment for how we need everything to be you know tightened up and then
Harbaugh and Herbert obviously week one had a little bit of a miscommunication on a gap up hug
Harbaugh wants to beat the shit out of Herbert to wake him up a little bit week two he said he'll
be more prepared for it in Carolina he took the beating yeah that's right he took the pregame
beating from Harbaugh and uh you know a lot of questions being asked about the Carolina Panthers
team it's like well maybe this is just a different Chargers team.
Remember, the Chargers are always like this close.
Yeah.
Yep.
Literally.
For years.
Like every game.
Yeah.
Every game was like this close, this close, this close.
They lose, obviously, Keenan Allen in some pieces.
And Quentin Johnson's out scoring two touchdowns a game, which nobody really thought.
But if they are able to just eliminate one of those, you know, this should be a vastly different year for the Chargers
than it has been over the last, what, 10 years seemingly for them?
It's like, what if Harbaugh is the difference?
What if him, at the beginning of that question,
is exactly what that team is needing, what Herbert is needing?
There's a chance that's the case.
It is, without a doubt.
I mean, part of the reason why when he got hired,
I think it wasn't hyperbole when we were saying, were saying like hey i expect this team to win 10 games this year
potentially make it to the playoffs like you always said it about luck how you know guy herbert
obviously has all the skill in the world but you look at just what uh brandon staley's personality
was like he might not have an older guy that he ever really got to learn from but harbaugh played
in the league for what you know 17 years like this is exactly what he needs and his he might not have an older guy that he ever really got to learn from, but Harbaugh played in the league for, what, you know, 17 years.
Like, this is exactly what he needs.
And his stats might not be as gaudy this year because they lost so many pieces.
But overall, in the long term, like, I think pairing these two together,
like, this is exactly the guy that he needs to kind of get him to that next step.
Because, you know, I mean, obviously,
these guys love getting numbers and stuff like that,
but, like, they want to win.
He wants to go to the playoffs.
He doesn't want to be one of those guys where it's like,
oh, he had all the talent in the world,
but they went 8-9 every year and could never win the big game.
Well, what did Aaron throw for 176 or something this past weekend?
And we'll talk to him here in a matter of moments.
He'll be just, that does not matter.
No.
Like, winning the game.
Tom Brady was A-OK, which is handing the ball off if he had to use him play action like that is
patrick mahomes last year yeah they were just running the ball we're gonna punt it's okay
we're gonna do that it's interesting all these people that you know think they want to do
something have this mindset of uh if i put up the most numbers that's good that's good that's good
it's like the thing that matters is winning.
And when you win, you know, the quarterback's going to get credit,
coach's going to get credit, but there's enough to go around everywhere.
If the Chargers start winning, good for them.
Now, let's go back to the AFC North because the Chargers are playing the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jerome Ford of the Browns said that when Jameis Winston comes into a huddle,
he tells the play as if he has a secret to tell, a surprise to tell.
Just so jacked up.
Guys, listen, listen, listen.
Ready? Eyes wide open.
This got quote tweeted, I believe, by
Michael Woods II.
Can second this. Eyes be big
AF.
I enjoy the fact that seemingly
everybody has the same view on Jameis.
This guy's just entertaining. Imagine Jerome Ford
sitting in a huddle. Jameis comes in and starts talking. He's like, you're always like this. What? It's likeameis. This guy's just entertaining. Imagine Jerome Ford sitting in that huddle. Jameis comes in and starts talking.
He's like, you're always like this.
Yeah, what?
Okay, he's like the elf.
This guy's like elf.
This guy is just always jacked up, always excited, always has something.
I love Jameis.
Now, with the injuries that are kind of happening to quarterbacks,
is there going to be a conversation about Jameis going somewhere
and starting this year?
I hope so. I think they're going to want to hold on to him. Miami should give up a conversation about Jameis going somewhere and starting this year? I hope so.
I think they're going to want to hold on to him.
Miami should give up a first for Jameis.
Yeah, because there was a thought Jameis was going to get released.
Yeah.
Remember?
There was a thought Jameis was going to be released.
And I immediately was like, well, that feels like there's going to be a bunch of teams that would like Jameis Winston.
The more I hear about him, the more I like him.
Speaking about the more I hear, the more I like Cincinnati.
Place that we love.
Yeah, love it. Good time. I love it more I hear, the more I like. Cincinnati. Place that we love. Yeah, love it.
Good town.
Good town.
I love it.
I mean, Ohio, of course, was not to like.
Now, the fans in the city, I don't know.
Some of the fans.
Come on.
Not all of the fans.
Majority.
Some of the fans.
It does feel like the Cincinnati faithful.
The who-day.
Who-day.
Who-day say gonna beat them Bengals.
Faithful.
Don't love that we point some things out at the level in which we do that is happening for the cincinnati bengals not happening anywhere else
you know walking across the street sure they know indoor facility in a four weather season climate
until after you make the super bowl you actually have to go do practice in between lacrosse
practices at the university of cincinnati in a bubble you have to hop on a bus during super bowl training go to a university down the road to utilize a bubble
because you don't have an indoor practice facility even though you live in cincinnati ohio
okay okay yeah we we've pointed out these things we got a watch party for a hundred bucks awesome
okay but get 25 bucks to concessions and 25 bucks at a pro shop so you're basically just spending
money with us without spending money with us and it was a good crowd at that we saw a couple videos
obviously look a little sparse on the field we apologize didn't do enough research the bangliss
fans i think uh a little salty towards our program right now the tvs how about tv selling for 55
bucks out of the parking lot yeah that doesn't happen anywhere else it does it's not like we
have so good new tvs look great we saw it in a video. So, like, that's all.
Journalistic standards.
We're doing our thing.
Speaking of journalistic standards, I think there's a billion dollars going into stadium renovations.
Okay.
That's a big deal.
Today is the day.
Hamilton County, Ohio will unveil plans to rebuild the home of the Bengals this afternoon.
The cost will be about double the $455 million paid to build the stadium.
Get the latest at the top of the hour
on news radio 700 lw like that so double that that's uh you start doing some math 910 million
uh then they're gonna get they're investing in team yeah now i believe the bangles are also
offering up about 10 of the entirety of it all so congrats congrats to Cincinnati Bengals getting a new jungle. Alright, Cincy. Not bad.
It's good. Okay, perfect.
Aaron, in the middle of a meeting,
he'll be on in 225
at 230. There'll be a break in the
show, so we will talk to him then. That's good news
for the Cincinnati Bengals. Getting
a new stadium. They got the naming
rights. They got an indoor facility.
Still got the Toyota
Highlander cement truck situation. But you could easily build a little tunnel. They got an indoor facility. Still got the Toyota Highlander cement truck situation.
But you could easily build a...
Yeah, like a little tunnel.
They have escalators in the stadium. They could build an escalator
over the road.
What are you saying about the escalators?
Sometimes they're just not good.
Well, escalators turn the stairs sometimes. Is that what you're saying?
Yeah. And did that happen?
I believe it has. When?
Hmm. Good question. I'll research further. Okay, you. When? Hmm. That's a good question.
I'll research further.
Okay, you wanted to bury Cincinnati.
This is a compliment to Cincinnati.
They got that new locker room. I can see Bengals fans hating that.
Yeah, absolutely.
Fair enough.
Brand new locker room.
You're right.
They paid Joey.
Right.
They're gonna.
Trey Hendrickson, they paid.
No, no, not yet.
Like three years ago.
Thinking about it, though.
He wants a new car.
Thinking about Jamar. Uh-huh. Not gonna pay T. No, not gonna have him able to. paid no no not yet like three years ago thinking about it though he wants a new car thinking about
jamar uh-huh not gonna not gonna pay t no we're not gonna have enough to go around everybody
but willy-nilly yeah mixing a while ago got a contract jesse bates had the game winning
interception last night didn't pay him yeah but he's a good player yeah i did have him at one
point they don't they don't have have nearly as large of a scouting department
as every other team from what we've been told,
but that's because the coaches are more hands-on.
Congrats to the Bengals.
That's a big deal.
It is.
Now, if you put almost a billion dollars in the renovations
into the stadium, is that Super Bowl worthy?
You know, because I know that there's a – is it an unwritten rule?
I don't know if it's an unwritten rule or an actual agreement.
If you build a new stadium, you will get a Super Bowl.
It's kind of what is the bargaining chip.
With a dome.
They went to Minnesota.
They went to New York.
They went to MetLife.
Detroit.
I thought because of that one, it was like, hey, we're not doing this anymore.
Yeah, I do wonder.
I do wonder if that's the case or if they were just going to go to New York regardless
because it's New York City.
Like, you're going to have to do it.
But came to Indianapolis, obviously we had a dome.
They went to Minnesota.
There was a dome.
But all these taxpayer stadiums that are being built, it's like I think there's like an agreement that a Super Bowl will come.
Buffalo will be the big.
Yeah, that'll be the test.
Buffalo will be the big conversation because they're building a brand new stadium.
And they're not putting even a retractable roof over top.
Nope.
Got a cool canopy.
Handle the Super Bowl?
What was that?
What are you talking about?
I mean, just like, you know.
Logistics-wise.
Don't listen to his fans.
Indianapolis, this is a convention city.
We had to build a hotel, though.
The JW Marriott was not here
until I think Super Bowl conversations were happening
because I think you need the amount of hotels
that have
like halls and bank and everything like that within it is a necessity so I think in the and
I don't know if JW Marriott was in plan it's a massive building but it did seemingly show up
around the time of the Super Bowl and there was some other stuff that kind of popped up there
because of the amount of humans that are coming into your city that's why it is a negotiating chip for all these cities to potentially pay for new
stadiums because it's like hey there's gonna be billions of dollars coming back to your city
with just one event let alone every other event i think it's good for towns to do this i think
it's good for nfl teams to represent cities uh not only because of the financial things i don't
know about carolina well no i don't know how many local businesses
are pumped it's game day down there.
A couple years. They're a couple years out.
Yeah, that's right. They'll be pumped.
We trust the process over there? Trust the climb?
No, not me. Did you see the
new sign outside the restaurant
that Tepper went into because it had the
sign last year outside of it?
No, the business that
he walked in and did the hat gimmick? Yeah, bingo.
They have a new sign out there.
They got Baker Mayfield's record, 2-0.
They got Sam Darnold's record, 2-0.
They got Matt Rule's record, 3-0.
And they got Bryce Young's record
on the bottom, 0-2. Oh, no.
Yeah, so I expect that place to get bought
and torn down within the next couple months.
What do they sell? It's like a restaurant, a tavern?
What was it? I think it is like a tavern.
Up the security.
Dilworth Neighborhood Grill.
Okay.
Yeah.
Dining, a big chill.
And Tepper's driving by like, yeah, you guys need the big chill.
I mean, what are we?
I thought we were all on the same page here.
Yeah, that's, and he drives past this, right?
This is a place that he sees.
Uh-huh.
That's awesome.
So sweet.
The pettiness, you got to love. Well, and then Tepper's pettiness back is what we're here for. Also respected. Yeah, that is what place that he sees. That's awesome. So sweet. The pettiness, you gotta love.
And then Tepper's pettiness back is what we're here for.
Also respected. Yeah, that is what we're here for.
Are they ever going to get good? We shall see. They got a new starter.
Andy Dalton, the big
red rocket, was
asked about yesterday. What's that?
Red rifle. I mean, if you
want to judge a man. He's got a big red
rocket. That's what we're talking about.
I'm just You don't think I can throw the ball far? You don't think he's got a rocket red rocket. That's what we're talking about. We think.
I'm just going off what he's been called. You don't think I can throw the ball for?
You don't think he's got a rocket?
I'm just going off what he's been called.
I don't know what.
Who's called him?
What?
We've called him Red Rocket.
Red Rocket.
That's what he's been called.
By who?
We've called him Red Rocket.
The Red Rocket, baby.
That was new to me yesterday.
Didn't J.J. Watt call him the Red Rider BB gun?
He got all mad.
I would say that's condescending. That was messed up. From J.J. Watt call him the Red Ryder BB gun? He got all mad. I would say that's condescending from J.J. Watt.
And J.J. meant that as a condescending,
which makes sense with what you're trying to do to kind of pile on that.
Anyways, the Red Rocket, okay, who's always up for the challenge,
had this to say about becoming a Carolina Panthers quarterback.
Sir, you know, I'm really excited for this opportunity.
You know, when I came here,
I wasn't sure if I was going to get another opportunity to start again.
And so I'm really looking forward to it.
I'm excited about what's ahead.
And, you know, it's a tough situation.
I've been on both sides of it.
And it's not hard. I mean been on both sides of it.
It's hard on everybody.
For me,
I'm looking forward to that.
He had a big grin on his face at the beginning. People were saying
he's smiling like the
butcher's dog. Shout out
to a ship painter in the back for that.
Andy Dalton knows
that this is probably his
number two quarterback at this is probably his uh you know he's the number two
quarterback at this stage of his career yeah but now he's getting an opportunity to play and if he
has any success at all he'll be viewed as an upgrade to this Carolina Panthers team to Canales
to Morgan to Tepper is he just a bridge here you think until they get Bryce Young back out there
or is this a bridge until they move on to an entirely new operation?
I think it's that.
I don't know.
Like, I mean, Bryce, we were talking about it already.
Like, there's no way his confidence isn't shot with the way his career started.
But, like, how do you go back to him after?
It's two games into the season.
Now, if it was eight or nine games into the season and they're 0-9
and then you bench him, like, that's one thing maybe.
But it seems – like, we talked about it yesterday.
Like, they're basically like, hey, the season's
already slipping away from us. What does that do to
a guy's confidence who already has none?
I don't know.
When I saw this yesterday, I was like, Carolina's going to
win this weekend. Andy Dalton's going to go out
there and throw for 300 yards.
Him and Thielen are going to have magical
two wily vets who have just been
getting shit on, having to go through
with all this crap for the last, what, you know,
two years, pretty much.
And then if that happens, then yeah,
Bryce Young is completely done for. This is
Andy Dalton's team now, and we'll see where it goes
until they move on to their
next quarterback. What do the gambling gods have to say
about this type of quarterback move this early in the
season? Because we know the gambling gods
will normally bless
people that fire their
coaches yeah that first week after new coach game first week doesn't carry does not carry first week
jeff saturday first week that's right after that is like the greatest example of this it is normally
a renewed energy a sense of like okay we can go prove ourselves to somebody new here we go normally
cover normally very good bet with the fired coach
situation. New quarterback. Is there any
gambling god numbers? Yeah, they like it.
They like it. Fortune favors the bold
in the coaching. And the brave.
That's all Matt Damon said. Matt Damon said
fortune favors. In the coaching
and quarterback change department. Normally
there is a quick boost
in the quarterback change department. Now
similar to the coaching department, it can fall off after a week or so.
But it is similar.
I spoke to an ESPN insider earlier this morning about this situation.
Hamill?
No, Adam Schefter.
Oh.
You guys just talking to each other?
Wow.
Yeah, the guy's number.
You guys FaceTime?
Zoom.
You Zooming?
Oh, you took Chaz's job. That's right. Yep. That's right. You know what that was? Zoom. Oh, you took Chaz's job.
That's right.
You know what that was?
That's what took place. First option, baby.
First option
post, Chad.
For obvious reasons.
But Shefty was saying
that he thinks this is definitely the end of Bryce Young
in Carolina and even speculated
that there's a team in Miami that should trade for him.
Whoa.
That'll be on the Adam Schefter podcast releasing.
It's hot.
I just checked.
Available now.
Okay, that is what Schefter says on there.
Maybe Miami wants a little Bryce Young experience.
Maybe McDaniel's the right guy for Bryce Young.
He's accurate.
He's a football savant, they say.
Now, both of those things, we don't know if it's true or not.
That is just what was being said about him going into the NRL.
This guy, he's accurate. He knows the game.
He has good feel. None of that happened in Carolina.
Was it Carolina's fault? Was it his?
New place, potentially home. Is Miami the spot for him?
I would not mind him coming over to Miami at all.
I just talked about how Mike McDaniel, what he did to Tua's confidence.
So a guy who has obviously lost his confidence.
We know the intermediate accuracy that he has, the athleticism.
That doesn't just disappear once you get to the league.
Bama guys.
Yeah, he was surrounded by Bama guys.
No, it was Tua.
Tua, yeah, another Bama boy in there.
Waddle as well.
But I would like that move, but in Carolina, going to Andy,
Canales going to Andy,
we know Andy can play good football. Is he going to be a long-term answer
quarterback? No. But you know he can play
some good football and maybe win you a game.
You just weren't getting that
from Bryce at all. So you haven't
seen him play good football. So to
keep that locker room going week by
week in the season, Dan Morgan,
Canales, they have no loyalty to Bryce.
So you move on to Andy, I don't see a way, a bridge back to Bryce.
After two games, he had a really quick break.
I haven't watched the tape.
The Panthers tape is always the absolute last tape I watch.
So I haven't watched the tape.
I saw some members.
Because it's your favorite?
It's just, you know, I usually watch it.
I usually go best to last.
I know the teams that's going to be in it.
I usually start there and then work my way down.
But I did see a stat that said he wasn't really even pressured much last week.
So that's alarming as well.
But I don't see a way back to Bryce when you're benching a young guy
this early into your tenure as a head coach.
To your point right there, and you can take it with a grain of salt,
however you feel about the organization,
PFF has him as like the fifth-ranked pass-blocking line so far in the season.
But Andy Dalton's one start last year.
He was 34-58 for 361 and two touchdowns.
So the interesting thing here is Andy Dalton's always going to do that.
Now, unless he's getting decapitated on the field like he did at Dallas,
where he got flattened.
He gets the commies.
Actually, I wonder if Canales is like,
I can't even tell if we're on the right track with our offense,
with Bryce Young in there.
Yes.
Andy will at least be able to do so we can see if we have a sustainable
opportunity here.
Now, is Andy the answer long-term?
We shall see.
Schefter saying he's done down there is pretty big, though.
Yeah.
That sounds like whenever they were getting the job, Morgan, Canales, they had an understanding with Tepper like hey we had no loyalty with this
guy so if we don't think it's going to work we're not going to do Sean Payton 13 weeks 14 weeks and
then we kick him out of the building type thing we're gonna we got to be able to pull the leash
very very very early in this entire thing and just from my own experience I was a punter and I was
told there's no loyalty between us.
We didn't draft you.
I couldn't even fathom a quarterback, the most important position,
saying, hey, we got no loyalty.
We did not draft you.
Because every person that dreams of being a head coach
or being a general manager has a team vision in their head,
what they would create.
Through the years of their time sleeping on couches,
building up offenses for Canales,
Morgan going through scouting department,
yada, yada, figuring it all out.
They have pieced together what their team would look like
if they were to get the job.
So they didn't get the job, and then they're told,
hey, the last vision, the last person's vision
of what a quarterback should look for is your quarterback.
That's never going to work.
That's probably never going to work.
So the fact that Morgan and Canales seemingly,
at this point, if Schefter's saying his time is done over there,
had the convo with Tepper and Tepper said, you got it,
whatever you guys want to do, I kind of almost give like props to,
because that is not an easy decision at all for an organization
to spend the number one overall pick and gave up so much to make that happen.
So for Tepper to, and I guess this is kind of a backwards,
backhanded compliment,
it is nice that he was almost like,
I'm giving you guys full control
of the future of this team.
And now how long does that last for?
You know?
How many signs does he have to drive by
with a grill?
You know, rubbing it in his face.
He's in a how long?
Because he had to sign off on that draft.
You know what I mean?
The one of our draft picks.
Well, I guess allegedly it was his.
Yeah, you got to make that decision as an owner.
And, you know, we're saying it's not a way where Bryce may be done.
It's still a football, though.
You know, any given snap, you know, one bad snap, injury, obviously,
knock on wood.
But he'll have to be ready.
And Bryce will get another opportunity in the league.
Absolutely.
Being the first round pick, first overall pick,
you will get another opportunity to prove yourself.
Now, because of his stature and things like that,
there are a ton of teams who probably wouldn't have took him one or don't
believe that he can be good especially how his career started but i think he will get another
opportunity think about morgan too type of player he was yeah how he looked in that press conference
like he's football yeah and he's like quarterback too small right just because what we're trying to
build here this is not what we're looking for in this entire thing.
And it's like for Tepper to be able to be like,
all right, whenever you want to pull him, you can pull him.
It's like that's a massive ordeal.
Did Bryce know that?
Did Bryce know that there was no loyalties in this entire thing?
Canales said after the game, like, no, he's our quarterback.
And then to like D-Bud, he hasn't watched the film yet.
Canales, I believe, watched the film and then was like, never mind.
Or Dan Morgan was like, hey, if we don't want him, we don't have to have him. Orales, I believe, watched the film and then was like, never mind. Or Dan Morgan was like,
hey, if we don't want him,
we don't have to have him.
Or Tepper was like,
hey, remember you guys told me
there's no loyalties here.
What's good?
Let's make sure that...
I'll be excited to see behind the scenes
if we'll ever learn the truth.
I assume Sheena is going to be on
trying to get to the bottom of it
and figuring out the rules.
But it's like, sucks for Bryce Young.
Clearly, sucks for Bryce Young.
Sucks for Carolina Panthers fans.
Because yet again, you're in the middle of like, ah.
But I think there's actually a sliver of hope in this.
If Tepper is letting Morgan and Kanellis just do the football,
however you want to rebuild this thing, you can do it.
That's not great, obviously, for a lot of people.
But it could be good four years from now,
whenever you guys actually have a destination.
Archman?
Oh, you're saying another two years.
There and I'll let an arch go.
Take care, I know, brother.
That would be funny if old Grandpa Archie comes out and goes,
Charlotte, you think Archie's going from Austin to Charlotte?
What are we talking about?
Not a chance.
Not out here.
We ain't doing that.
Deion Sanders said he was going to do something similar.
Yeah.
I mean, there's a couple teams that could potentially have situations brewing whenever
it comes to draft going forward, but
for the Panthers, I think there is a sliver of hope there
if it is just kind of like, rebuild
it however you got to do it, because whatever's happening right now
obviously has not been great.
It's like you guys always say. There's one
thing when it's week 14
and guys start looking and like, okay,
let's start doing our offseason plans. Let's see where
we want to go on vacation here, but when things have already... When you got guys in the locker room after week looking and like, okay, let's start doing our offseason plans. Let's see where we want to go on vacation here.
But when you've got guys in the locker room after week two being like,
we suck.
This season's over.
You have to do something.
Now they've just got to hope that because to your point about Arch,
I mean, I don't know.
You can say what you want, but this upcoming quarterback draft class
isn't the best.
Some mock came out today, and they have him taking Quinn Ewers.
And he's good.
He's been great at Texas.
Quinn's very good.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Absolutely, but guess what?
You've got to get this one right.
You can't have another Bryce Young,
so you better know for certain that Quinn Ewers is the guy
who's going to turn everything around.
Carolina, one of those teams that was certainly looking to deck Prescott,
potentially becoming a free agent.
We weren't even thinking about it.
We weren't even potentially thinking about it because Bryce Young,
we didn't know this was possible for a number one overall pick from a year ago
to be able to just get season slipping away.
We're two weeks into this thing.
Two becomes three, three becomes four.
We're a quarter of the way through the season already.
I mean, they're not even competitive, though.
In the league where it's like the first two weeks i mean it's any given sunday we
don't know what the hell is gonna happen they're not even competitive in the first two two games
like it is a big change but when you're not competitive we always talk about hey you go out
there and compete you win you lose whatever but you got to compete it's got to be most games come
down to the last you know last drive or one score game. You're not even competitive going into the fourth quarter.
You've got to do something.
Speaking of competitive, how about the new kickoff rules?
How's it going?
How's it going?
Last night there was a couple.
Throughout a couple games, there's been a couple.
Through two weeks, double the amount of returns.
Nice.
Through two weeks last year, 2023, there was 50 returns in total.
Now, 100.
Quick math.
Anybody could have done that.
I like the nice, clean number after last night.
And then they do percentages, obviously.
30.2 return rate in 2024, 15.4 return rate in 2023.
The average drive start, if you include touchbacks,
out-of-bounds kicks as well, is 29.6.
So it is still under the 30.
So people are still covering.
Once that thing becomes 31, it'll just become touchback city, but maybe that's not the case. I saw some teams really trying to work it, really trying to take advantage of having
a deep roster. So there are some teams that the way they spend their money, they're not that deep.
You can normally tell in preseason, you can normally tell on special teams because the depth of the roster is tested on special teams if you have
good depth and you care about special teams you can weaponize this kickoff to pin people especially
if they don't have a lot of great linebackers backup linebackers to play special teams backup
tight end players backup running backs those are normally the majority of people you'll see on
special teams so like some teams i think are going to try to take advantage of it.
Double the amount of returns so far, that's good news for the kickoff and for the future of special teams, I think.
Yeah, you talk about using your weapons.
Brandon Aubrey hit another punch again this week,
like a beautiful one that rolled through the back of the end zone.
Like, that's a team that's – and you talk about special teams coordinators.
They have one of the best special teams coordinators in the NFL.
Like, the good ones are going to do stuff.
I don't know if he wanted to hit it at exactly the 19 or 20 or whatever it was,
but that's two weeks in a row that they've done that punch kick.
So that ball's at the 20 instead of the 30.
Yes.
Okay, so that's a huge difference.
The best play.
Ball at the 20 is a massive ordeal.
That's old school touchback.
That's after a punt touchback.
You look at the percentages of scoring from the 20 versus the
30, it's one less first down.
Just clearly, one less first down is needed.
There was some other first down
situations that were brewing from special
teams. Ladies and gentlemen, it is time
to put an eye on the fourth down quarterbacks
for these NFL
teams. It's time for some
big old
punts. We're talking big old punts.
We're talking big old punts right here.
Right there is four guys, one of them in the Hall of Fame.
The other three probably should be and will be at some point.
Obviously, you've got Ray Guy, Mike Cyphers, Shane Leckler, and Reggie Roby.
Hell, yeah.
Foot straight up into the sky, sending an absolute nuke to the moon.
It's time for some big old punts.
Now, there was a lot of big punts, okay?
Guys are hitting balls really far, really high
at a rapid rate.
It is beautiful.
But we're talking big situational punts.
Okay, let's head to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Fourth quarter, 18 seconds left.
You're up seven in Denver.
Fourth and four.
Corliss Waitman, new punter for the Steelers,
hits a nuke.
55-yard ball in the corner.
Commentators saying needed out of bounds.
Okay.
How about 55 yards, two yards off the sideline?
Flip the field.
They have eight seconds now to do a little annexation of Puerto Rico.
Probably not going to work out,
especially with how the offense have been working.
Massive ball from Waitman in the fourth quarter.
Final seconds.
I think you're going to learn about big old punts here as we go forward.
Yeah, Bowe threw a pick off of that.
Big deal.
Yeah, eight seconds left.
You know, you win the game there.
Drop snap, hit a shank.
Things go completely different.
Instead, 55-yard bomb pins him in the corner.
Now, before we get to the big old punt in my eyes from the Green Bay Packers,
let's go to a big ass punt from Waylon for the Green Bay Packers. This dude hits a 59-yard fair catch.
Okay, this is in the third quarter, up 10, murders a ball, has a returner running backwards. The
commentator said it was 66 yards. It was 59 yards. That's one, you know, whatever the case. But that's a massive ball. Yeah, he's a little
chipped. That's his
style. That's his style. I think that's
literally how he does it. He spins it.
He gets a tight spiral, which is big for Lambeau
with how windy it is. I like this ball
whenever I saw it. Commentator said 66
yards, so it got me like even more.
66-yard fair catch. Holy shit.
I don't know how many of those there are.
59-yard fair catch is very incredible. I don't know how many of those there are. 59-yard fair catch is very incredible.
Because think about how high it has to go and how far it has to go
to get your gunner down close enough for a fair catch to happen.
If you're hitting 59-yard fair catches, you've got a massive leg.
But do you have any touch?
Well, let's go to the fourth quarter, shall we?
Less than a minute left.
Up one touchdown.
Obviously, Colts bring an eight-man box full pressure.
Little punch.
How you doing?
Fair catch at the four.
Wow.
Can't be fair catching at the four, obviously.
And whenever you're up six in the fourth quarter,
you want to pin them as deep as possible because they're looking for a touchdown
or maybe a Hail Mary.
This would obviously come into effect later in the game.
Yeah, I mean, one in the game.
You know, if that is a touchback, the Colts,
the Hail Mary that they attempted at the very
end of the game, I think Richardson got it to
the five-yard line. You start this
drive at the 20 instead of the four,
that 16 yards,
he's getting that ball into the end zone, and they have
an actual opportunity to win the game.
That's a big
bull punt.
A lot of pressure, too. A lot of pressure.
Now, I think the two gunners get that ball regardless,
whether it's fair caught or not.
Hopefully.
Maybe.
We've seen a bunch of them trick it off.
Make them do it.
You can't catch it to your point.
Agreed completely.
I think because they were running all out pressure,
we're fair catching this,
so we take no time off the clock regardless.
But at the four, you've got to make a decision there.
That's really far back for a fair catch.
Yes.
I was watching t go
whoa what are we doing what are we coaching here can you fair catch and then just run away from
uh you can't touch anybody if you do that yeah you can mock fair catch over here you just can't block
anybody if you do one of these bad boys peter peter peter you can then hit somebody so that's
the move the move is to draw away from where ball actually is, don't wait for fair catch, and then drill somebody.
The Colts wouldn't do that.
That's a good point, Tony.
Good call.
We play good football.
We play sound football.
You're talking about Quentin Nelson.
Play kind football.
Let's get back to some big old punts, shall we?
That was a big situational punt.
Here, there was none bigger than this punt right here.
Up three.
Three means field goal range, especially with these kickers nowadays.
That's getting it to like the 45.
You're in field goal range.
So you have a minute 56 left.
They have two timeouts.
We need to back them up as far as possible.
We need to give the defense as much real estate behind them
as they can possibly get.
Well, Corey Bohorkway says, no problem at all.
I'll do this all by myself.
Jacksonville has a light box, double the Gunners,
hoping to get a big-time return.
Corey Bohorkway says, no problem.
Checks up at the half-yard line, out of bounds at the one-yard line.
You've got to go 99 to get a Tud,
and you've got to go 55 to get in the field goal range.
That is a big old pun.
That's Bubba Ventron, former special teams dog for many teams.
A yinzer, obviously, his special teams coordinator now, daps him up.
That's a massive ball in a massive situation.
Congrats to the whole party, to the whole team, to the Browns getting a win,
and to Corey Bohork was being a big piece of it.
And on the next play, it was a safety, which made it a five-point lead
and ended up kind of being the determination in the game
because Trevor Lawrence had – they weren't in field goal range,
but they were close at the end of the game.
You pin somebody at the one or close, pick sixes, very available.
Safeties, very available.
And then also just the amount of time.
It eats up time trying to get there.
We saw Kirk Cousins last night just that, that, that, that, that, that.
When you're back on the one, you can't just sit back there
and do your little soft dance. gotta do your thing so that's a big oh pun from
cory behorquez if we missed any please let us know use the hashtag for the brand and we'll get them
into the big old pun segment next week but punters in field position in this nfl season with the
scarcity of points big deal special teams have a spotlight on it right now i don't know how long
it's going to happen kickers are obviously performing at a high level.
Punters are performing at a high level.
Returners have an opportunity to change games.
Special teams does have a spotlight back on it here early.
And I don't know if it's all season, but I'm enjoying the hell out of it right now.
Huge, huge for the brand right now.
Got to get in the points.
Got to take advantage.
And when you're punting the ball, like, that's the first play of defense.
Obviously, not only for the punter, but gunners, everybody covering those punts.
That's a huge set of defense for success.
I wore a defensive jersey at practice.
Hell yeah.
You know, if any wore an offensive jersey at practice, that is just kind of how it is.
You know, and if I give the boys enough field position behind them, we should be in a good spot.
Let's make it tack.
Now, there's nothing worse than hitting them deep and then first play for 45 yards.
Oh, yeah.
Why did we even bother?
Should have just taken a knee while I got a snap.
But whenever somebody takes advantage of it
and, like, goes and gets it, it's like,
now we're playing good football.
Now we're playing all three phases of ball,
which is what teams are going to need to do
in this particular NFL season.
Touchdowns, way down.
Kickoff returns, way up.
Field goal kicks, way up.
Punters pinning, way up. Hell, yeah. way up. Punter's pinning, way up.
Hell yeah.
It's a good time.
Old school football, similarly back.

It is from the UFC this past Saturday.
Did you go?
I did not go, but I watched it at home,
and it felt like I was there because of how cool they made the 1080p kind of viewing experience from the at-home perspective.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Sounds like you're just saying things you've heard other people say right now.
Yes, the 1080p thing.
Yes, that's exactly right.
But genuinely, I did actually enjoy the entire thing,
and I thought the videos were kind of one of the coolest parts.
Did you turn off all the lights in your house?
Yes, we did.
And how close did you get to your TV?
I was this, brother, I'm not even kidding.
I couldn't sleep because my eyes were still glowing after
because I was this freaking close to the thing.
I felt like I was both in the past of Mexico and in the future.
And let me tell you, Mexico City's got a bright future.
You saw it there.
If what I saw is the future of that city, look out.
It was a great noche for UFC, don't you think?
It's really one of my favorite noches when it comes to the UFC in general.
Yeah, early mornings they turn into here on the East Coast.
Yeah, true.
They go noches into manana mornings.
Yeah, and that is certainly right.
Yeah, UFC manana, they could have called it because it didn't start until.
It could have been noche and manana.
Slash manana.
Which they put on the back of the sphere for the fight with Sugar Sean, right?
Yes, they did. The future of the entire thing.
It does look sweet, Don. It was very, very
cool, and I'm just glad I got a hat because I love
Noche. Shout out to UFC, by the way, sending us some
merch. Quickly.
Great merch. They might have droned them in.
I'm not sure how that entire thing worked
out. One half of the hammer.
Cowboys AP Tone is here.
How dominant of
a start are the sportsbooks having this year
for the NFL season? Week two was
one of the most dominant that I can remember.
Slaughter. Bloodbath.
Massacre. Any of those. Anonyms.
Synonyms.
Anonyms.
Anonyms work, too.
Anonyms. Mightms work too Anonyms
Might be the worst one I've ever had
Yeah
We're talking about the bargaining caps
That one was on purpose
But yes
It's been a bloodbath
For the gamblers thus far
Yes yes
Is this normally
Tipped to scales back in our favor
For gambling
Or is
Do the sportsbooks have the capability
To just
Run roughshod all year
No I don't think all year
Cause I
Like
Like I said
We should not give up hope.
No, no, no.
Week one, you see it with your eyes
so you think you know.
But you have no idea.
Week two, it smacks you right in the mouth.
The internet, peace.
This is the true story
or the real story
of eight strangers
living in a house.
Gambling.
But it's the whole world.
Yes.
So the sports books are hot yet again.
Let's remember that
as we're going through our picks
and if we get one right, we should celebrate. We'll bounce back. We should certainly celebrate. Nine-year NFL vet, Yes. So the sportsbooks are hot yet again. Let's remember that as we're going through our picks.
And if we get one right, we should celebrate.
We'll bounce back.
We should certainly celebrate.
Nine-year NFL vet, host of Everything DB, Good D, Bad D, which will be debuting later today.
Derrish J. Butler.
Shout out to USC.
Probably my favorite notebook.
What is that?
Probably my favorite notebook of all time.
That's the Noche notebook.
Noche means night.
Noche does mean night.
UFC stands for?
Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Well done.
You knew it.
You knew the entirety.
You love a good notebook.
Love a good notebook.
I thought it was interesting they sent notebooks.
I do appreciate that that was one of the gimmicks.
That was Dana's personal touch tie.
I'm going to use mine for sure.
Yeah, absolutely.
I already wrote down a touchdown parlay in it for next week.
And we're going to hit.
Yeah, absolutely.
You need to do that because sportsbooks are winning.
We're losing.
We have some breaking news out of the WWE.
Ladies and gentlemen, when Drew McIntyre re-signed with the WWE,
they had The Rock announce it.
Okay. It's not The Rock, it. Mm-hm. Okay.
It's not The Rock, but certainly one of our lads. So we are incredibly lucky to announce that Mr. Banger after Banger himself,
Sheamus, the big fella, has officially signed an extension with the WWE.
Let's go Sheamus!
Obviously Sheamus, the man that traveled over to Ireland and
was the only one to pick Georgia Tech over Florida State whenever we had game day over there.
And was our host and really showcased us to his entire hometown of Dublin.
Took care of us, kept us in great spirits.
A man who's been wrestling for the WWE, I think, for 17 years now.
Signs on an extension to stay there.
And we'll tell you, fella, we're proud of you, man.
You deserve it, though.
You deserve it, fella.
That's the crock.
That is the crock.
Yep.
What's the crock?
That's the crock.
And the good thing about Sheamus is, obviously, it's fight night.
Yeah.
Whenever he's in the ring.
There's going to be Jim Hartball football
A lot of this
There's going to be a lot of
Pounding and rock
Pounding each other
Yeah
Banger
After

He's a lovely fella.
Truly.
Stopped at three different bars, one Irish pub that he gave the sign-off on here in Indianapolis,
to get enough Guinness glasses to take on the plane to Dublin so he can pour a proper
pint of Guinness to say thank you to us.
Just an absolute lad of the lads.
Congratulations, Seamus. We're proud of you, buddy.
Love you, Seamus.
You know, his story, if you look into it,
for him to re-sign this again
and have this much success
for this long, obviously his work ethic
is through the roof. The way he gets along
with people is obviously immensely important.
But his drive, you know,
from where he came from to where he is now,
we're proud
of seamus hell yeah proud of him and we also learned he was never painting his skin white
he was actually that pale that's right which none of us could have expected they were white
balancing off of his chest for a while crazy you know whenever they check cameras we need the most
white white of all time like seamus live for sure you know let me get in there ah geez didn't know
he could be translucent.
He was for a long time.
Proud of him.
All right, joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, is another very white Caucasian.
Yeah.
He's the all-time leading tackler for the Green Bay Packers.
He's a college football national champion, a Super Bowl champion, a Ryder Cup winner.
Ladies and gentlemen, A.J. Hawk.
Yeah.
How about Big Seamus, pal?
How about the lad?
Yeah, congrats to Big Seamus
He was talking about that, I believe, in Ireland
He was saying he was working on signing an extension
He wants to stay in wrestling
So this is awesome
You're right, though
You could white balance off of me as well
Yeah, that is a factual statement
And he might have a sunscreen
AJ's maybe the greatest sunscreen and plier I've ever been around
There's not a moment going by where he's even testing.
Nope.
Not even a thought.
Do we want any tan at all?
No.
Good.
We're beating the sun.
The sun thinks they're going to beat me because I'm crispy white.
That ain't true.
Nope.
I'm going to spray myself down every 20 minutes, this guy.
It was phenomenal work.
You'll never get skin cancer.
There's a good chance I am in line to get that,
and hopefully the doctors will be able to take care of that.
Let's talk about last night, A.J. Hawk.
What a win for Kirk Cousins, who now has won four out of his last five
Monday Night Football games.
Primetime Kirk is the real deal.
Two-minute drill right down the field to take the lead
with less than a minute left.
What a night for the Falcons and Kirk Cousins.
What did you see from the game, A.J. Hawk?
I know there was points in the game where people thought it was a cagey match.
It was kind of boring for a little bit.
But you know what?
When a game comes like that and it delivers at the end, Monday night,
I have nothing to complain about.
But Kirk, I feel like if you watch from the start to finish,
weren't they – they seemed worried earlier.
Oh, he's not pushing off his back foot.
His Achilles doesn't look great.
He's not moving.
Don't you think he may have gotten loosened up a little bit? He felt like
he was moving better. He was stepping into throws. And obviously, this last drive was just an
absolute thing of beauty. And I heard D-Bot talking about the Manning cast. I was watching
as well. They did, you know, Kirk pretty much did what all three of them laid out what you should
do here in a two-minute drill. Yeah, first play, we need to get positive yards to get this thing
rolling. We need some sort of explosive at some point.
Listening to that was awesome, by the way.
I think every defensive player and coach should probably hear, like,
hey, this is how Peyton, Matt Ryan, and Eli.
Now, Eli and Peyton, you assume, have very similar football thoughts,
but Matt Ryan comes from a different school of football.
This is his exact thoughts, and Kirk Cousins is agreeing to the exact same thing. I think defensive
players can learn a lot from hearing that.
But that first play, getting positive
yardage, positive momentum going,
huge ordeal. And then they took that
20-yard shot immediately afterwards
as if they were listening to the
Manning cast. And Matt Ryan, he said,
we used to call it the trifecta,
is how Matt Ryan described. Positive
on first one, needy explosive,
and obviously clock management or something like that.
I forget what it was.
But, like, Kirk Cousins executed perfectly,
and Debutch in the last hour broke down how the coverage was so predictable,
seemingly, that Kirk Cousins could just do whatever the hell he want,
and he had no pressure on him.
So, worst-case scenario for Eagles defense.
Yeah, and quarterbacks.
Now, Kirk knows the limited menu of coverages he's going to get
because you can only call so many things.
So, as a defense, you've got to play it top down.
You've got to play it back.
Make them check it down.
The clock is your friend.
You tackle them inbounds.
That's huge.
You can't let them get what they want and then get out of bounds
when that team doesn't have timeouts.
And we go over it every week.
Usually for most teams it's Thursday.
I know Chiefs do it multiple times a week.
But, you know, you get a difference.
Hey, 1.30 on the clock, need
a touchdown, one timeout. So you know
all the different scenarios as a coordinator,
as a player, and this is just way
too easy. You got some young players in the
Eagles secondary, so you're definitely going to learn from this,
especially Mitchell. But as a quarterback,
he got exactly what he wanted.
And he knows exactly where the holes are
in every one of these defenses, because he's
been there. That's a veteran quarterback.
That's why you bring in a veteran quarterback
or pay him $180 million in contracts,
even if you have a top-ten quarterback sitting behind him in that.
This whole situation, I didn't love.
I didn't like that he's on the sidelines celebrating with his teammates,
spreading peace out there, shooting fireworks or rubbing candles.
If he's doing the double shocker
that's okay, right? They're not going to
fine him for that or throw a flag. And he's with his teammates
over there. He's literally with his teammates
on the sideline.
It's like huge for the crowd.
If he was on the white, he'd be okay, right? If he was on the white
would he be alright? I guess, but is he
not close enough? I mean, what are we
people running down that sideline after touchdowns
and after kickoffs and everything.
It's like, if you're making an attempt to get back, they normally can't.
It's like, this just seems a bit, you almost want to touch me when you're doing a little roundabout whoopie whoop.
That's probably why.
I don't think so in this entire thing.
It almost made me feel like during COVID when that one ref backed that ass up.
Oh my goodness.
That is true.
Yeah, Tony Carrente.
Yeah, exactly.
Passes Marsh.
That's a huge penalty right there. Now we true. Yeah, Tony Carrente. Yeah, exactly. Passes Marsh.
That's a huge penalty right there.
Now we've got a 48-yard extra point.
That's a huge kick all of a sudden.
And everybody in Philly realized it.
It was loud.
The tension was high.
It was a game-winner with 34 seconds left.
Almost a 50-yarder.
He knocks it through.
Young-Way Koo, absolute dog.
And then Jalen Hurts would end up throwing a pick to Jesse Bates.
Game, set, match. I fell asleep AJ and I'm I'm gonna blame being old as hell now on it yeah they were I was like dozing
in and out they go up six and I literally go all right these sports books are fucking too much
I'm like what time is it 11 15 11.15, 11.20, whatever it is.
And I'm in the living room and I
open my eyes. I see the score. They're up
six. I see the time. I'm like,
five and a half?
Did it again. Get up, turn
TV off, go back to my
bedroom, pass out,
wake up this morning, laying in the bed,
think to
myself, I can't wait to cut a promo about these sports
books. Like that's literally what I wake up thinking. Five and a half and it ends up six.
These assholes are swinging such a hot bat right now. It is absurd. Then I literally pick up my
phone immediately. Kirk Cousins comes back and went, holy shit, what did I miss? There was not
that much time left. How did this whole thing happen? Then you watch it back in real time.
He didn't need it.
Just boom, bang, pow, boom, boom.
That had to be the easiest two-minute drill in the history of Kirk Cousins.
And like this part, Peyton was losing his mind.
You don't hand a ball to the center.
You hand a ball to the umpire.
The umpire's spotting the ball.
What are you doing?
Handing it to the center.
Center's not allowed to spot the ball.
Like watching them live and die with the entire two-minute
and then them realize how easy it was. Great clip. I think it's got over 3 of spot to bowl. Like, watching them live and die with the entire two-minute, and then them realize how easy it was.
Great clip.
I think it's got over 3 million views on X,
them going through the two-minute drive.
It was like, what a night for Kirk, and what a night for the Falcons.
Now, on the flip side, AJ, run the ball.
Take the points.
Run the ball.
You got Saquon Barkley.
You got a good offensive line.
You got two downs here. This is for the field
goal in the first quarter that
they chose to go for it, fourth and four.
Now granted, this is early in the game.
Want to set a tone. You get all the
way down there. Let's go get a touchdown.
They threw it on third and four as well. Yada, yada, yada.
But it's like, that's what they want to do.
2024 feels like field goals are a premium.
Let's go ahead and take those points as opposed to last year
or two years ago. And then at the end of the game third and three you have two dons you'd
expect to get a first down with the way the eagles operate uh-uh we're pulling it kellen moore calls
a little roll out throw to saquon saquon catches that we all assume they get a first down less than
two minutes left falcons have no timeouts game over we're kneeling this thing out don't cover
they don't cover nope nope But they win by three.
This game is over.
What are your thoughts on the decision-making process?
Conner's judging it strictly by the results.
What are your thoughts?
I'm okay with this play, Cole, because you're throwing it.
I think D-Button even mentioned it.
You have Jalen Hurts throwing to Saquon.
You're dudes.
You guys that you have in there to win games in big moments like this.
And unfortunately for the Eagles, Saquon didn't come up with this.
He definitely gets a first down here if he catches this ball.
It turns out he falls for the first down at the very least.
So I'm okay with a play call.
I really am.
Like, what else can you do?
Well, they say you can run it.
You can run it, for sure.
And if you gain a yard or two, now you've got fourth and one, fourth and two.
Eagles have passed.
We don't know if it's going to be of future.
They did score a touchdown with it earlier. Have been the tush- masters. You know, have been the tush push masters. Now,
are they still as confident without Jason Kelsey to take that out fourth and one to win game?
Probably. Yeah. Probably at home. So that's what everybody else is saying. If you run the ball with
Saquon there, you pick up at least two yards, you'd assume, you would hope. But then if you get
the fourth and one now you got
a guarantee first down game over anyways and there's not even a thought of a potential drop
i can hear how people are thinking that but if saquon catches that they get a first down it's
over sure this is just like with the colts last year yeah colts against texans and they have the
third string running back nobody expects to cover the third string running back. Nobody expects to cover the third string running back, which they didn't.
Gardner Minshew throws ball to third string running back.
He catches that.
We win AFC South, not the Houston Texans.
A lot of things change.
Instead, ball's dropped.
Shane Steichen's an idiot because he threw the ball to the third string running back.
Coach Stinken.
That's what I'm saying.
Like, relax.
When it's there. I don't like it. That's what I'm saying. Like, when it's there.
I don't like it.
I don't agree with it.
But that's what people are saying.
They're not saying it.
You want people to say it.
I do not.
I would like people not to say it.
I love Shane stinking, Coach.
Sucks stinking.
Is that what you were going to say?
No, that's what you just said.
Oh.
Why are you guys saying this? No, I... As a Colts fan, I would like Shane stinking. Is that what you were going to say? No, that's what you just said. Why are you guys saying this?
As a Colts fan, I would like Shane Steichen to stay.
And if they make any moves, go ahead.
Pete Coates.
This is a Goose Bradley problem.
Where should they make moves?
Huh?
Where should they make moves?
You said go ahead.
Where?
This is not slipping away.
It might be slipping away, brother.
No, we still got nothing but time.
We got a lot of games.
He's slipping away.
Anthony Richardson is a rookie quarterback.
We're going to have to live through some games where we're not our absolute best.
He's playing like his 19th game that he's ever played in organized football.
He got robbed of his rookie year because of his shoulder injury that he had,
but he's going to be better going forward.
So there's going to be some ups and
some downs with Anthony Richardson.
With that being said, Shane Steichen
is not the one that
we need to be bingo.
This whole you guys trying to ramrod.
I know. Yeah, you are.
We are just observing and reporting.
We're observing and
reporting, and people are calling him Coach
Stinkin, and we like Shane Steichen.
When he came in here, cool guy, great moxie, obviously.
He's had success with Gardner Minshew with the Colts.
Got him to a Pro Bowl.
Got him to a Pro Bowl, and if he does make a catch last year,
the third string running back, absolutely.
You guys are a playoff team, and you get absolutely slaughtered in the playoffs.
But again, still would have been a
very, very cool story. But what else are we
supposed to respond to
when it comes to results?
It's a results-oriented business.
I'm judging off the results. No shit.
Don't be such a mark.
You win and you lose.
And they lost on that fucking call.
I'm sorry. They did.
Saquon catches that. They get a first down.
Sirianni, Kellen Moore, live by the sword, die by the sword.
They all thought we were going to run because everybody would say you should run in this situation.
Instead, we whoop.
We get them wide open.
First down.
We win.
You lose.
He's walking off the field.
Coach Sirianni talking about how big of a genius he is.
It probably sounds like.
Yeah, he's screaming,
Ola Delis, Howie.
Ola Delis, what's all about?
Fuck the Falcons.
Go, Birds.
We're going to Del Sandro's.
That is probably what he's saying.
But instead, we get Kirk Cousins' prime time.
Two minute.
Down six.
48-yard extra point game over.
If it doesn't work, it's always going to be a bad call in people's minds.
If it doesn't work. I'm not saying it was a bad call in people's minds. If it doesn't work.
I'm not saying it was a bad call.
I just thought it was the wrong call.
Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, probably has a take
because he has a take on everything.
You never know.
More sports-based now than ever before.
Ladies and gentlemen, ESPN pundit, Dan Orlovsky.
Hello.
Sweet, sweet.
Whoa.
Wow.
Looking cool.
What is it?
It's good fall, brisk feel up there.
It's not cold enough to wear long sleeves, but it is a little chilly.
Let's make sure we keep the core warm.
What do we got?
My best guy.
My wife hates it.
My wife hates the vest.
Yeah, we understand.
We understand.
Are you golfing?
Are you golfing today?
You look good.
I do golf, man.
No, no golf.
Golf in March.
So you're just wearing that around the house right now?
Yeah.
All right.
I see why you like it.
You look good, Dan.
Why you got to be an asshole like that?
This is it.
What is the temp at the house?
The thermostat is set at 69 all the time during basically every time frame.
Me too, brother.
Can you turn that sideways, your phone?
Because the echo off the thing is muting your speaker there.
So we didn't get all of your – thank you.
He's got a gimmick.
He's got the cool thing.
Put the gimmick on.
Yep.
Smart.
It's a good-looking kitchen.
God works hard.
12-year NFL quarterback.
People forget.
Nice wood in there.
You don't do that for free. It's not a soup kitchen. Holy shit. Yeah. Wow. 12-year NFL quarterback. People forget. Nice wood, man. You don't do that for free.
It's not a soup kitchen.
Oh, it should.
Hey, yeah.
Way good, Dano.
Baby Dano.
Baby Dano.
See, hey, you guys are tech experts, too.
Hey, it is.
So it's 69 degrees at the house right now?
That's kind of what it's set on.
Sometimes in the spring, we'll, if it's like perfect, crisp spring day, we'll turn it off
and open the windows like a lot of people in the northeast do but out of the uh days of the week seven how many of them are you just walking
around with a vest on in-house this is a light vest though like this is a relatively like kind
of stretchy fabric vest so um i don't know like once a week maybe i do it mainly to annoy my wife
oh i love that i love love You know, we absolutely love love.
Let's speak about love a little bit.
Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons celebrating a big-time win.
Seems like a lot of love down there.
Kirk Cousins doesn't win that game.
Okay.
Now all of a sudden, you know,
they've put themselves in a situation where there's going to be a conversation.
You draft panics that early.
Kirk Cousins loses, struggles, doesn't look healthy.
You got this guy sitting there.
The outside narrative is going to be what it's going to be, whenever that happens.
Instead, Kirk Cousins walks down the field, gets a massive win,
and in the locker room afterwards, Raheem Morris is getting bottles dumped on his head.
Kirk is getting a full celebration.
Blank, I think, went to hug and kiss Kirk Cousins after the game on the sideline last night.
Completely different world today for Kirk Cousins than it was 24 hours ago.
Do you agree with that?
And how big of a win do you think it was for Kirk?
Yeah, massive win.
It keeps, you know, 0-2 is 0-2.
It's a huge win because the expectations of kind of what Kirk was going to bring to this football team.
I mean, the Falcons are good.
They got good young talent.
But this quarterback
or their quarterback has held them back for the past couple years and to go on the road and play
the way that that he did and then the game-winning drive absolutely enormous but last night for me is
as much about Zach Robinson who's their offensive coordinator as much about Bijan Robinson their
young star in the making tailback as it was about Kirk Cousins.
You know, like if you go back one week, week one, they were the most disappointing team to me when
it came to like what they did. And the fact that they even put themselves in the opportunity to go
down the field, this is sick little route, D, but you know, with the game winner by Drake London,
like that, that one's so cool because, you know, if you guys,
do you guys remember second quarter, like 14 seconds left?
He throws that ball like 10 yards out of the back of the end zone
over Kyle Pitts' head and they settle for a field goal.
It's basically the same formation.
And what they're doing is they're trying, they start Drake inside,
they motion him outside, but he's still kind of stacked
So Darius has got to sit outside leverage and D buck could tell you when those receivers get into that alignment
More often than not we want them that alignment for what type of route D, but go inside. It's gay post
I want to rush you from far hash. Yep. Yep wide and post watch Drake
Bang that left leg right there you can see darius is kind of aware
of like i gotta protect i gotta protect and once he puts that left leg in the ground darius has got
really no choice but to bite it like see that bite inside right there it's fantastic play call
it's a fantastic design to know slay is going to be protecting the perceived like weakness of the defense and that
that's how it gets wide open but I'll go back like Zach Robinson they went back under center
they ran more of their play action um you know in the first half it was outside zone weak you know
it was all outside zone weak in the second half it was outside zone strong to the tight end
and so I was really impressed it's kind of what I expected that offense to be.
Yeah, and speaking of zone and everything like that,
I think A.Q. Shipley's big take about the Atlanta Falcons is
you have zone offensive linemen that you're trying to make
not zone offensive linemen.
It's an offensive coordinator system not matching up
with who he has in real life.
Like, in theory, we get what you're trying to do.
You got T.J. Watt one-on-one fourth quarter to end the game there
because this is what your offense is.
But in reality, this is the type of guys that you have
because this has been brought in to run a different offense.
So, them mixing those and matching, you know, egos, pride,
everything like that to make it work, get a massive win in Philadelphia.
Now, on the flip side, Kellen Moore, this guy,
is he ever just going to call what he's supposed to?
This guy wants to run up a scoreboard.
He did it in Dallas.
Mike McCarthy had to call him out for it.
Now he's in Philadelphia.
They're running all over the place.
They're running all over the place.
And then whenever they got to have it, third and three, there we go again.
We got to throw it.
Now, if they easy pitch and catch, pick up the first down, game over.
Kneel it out.
They don't cover. Eagles win. What's your best play, third and three? Kellen Moore catch, pick up the first down, game over. Kneel it out. They don't cover.
Eagles win.
What's your best play?
Third and three.
Kellen Moore's thinking to get a first down.
That's all I care about.
We're under two minutes.
They have no timeouts.
This game is over if we get a first down right now.
Now, because they didn't pick it up, the Tuesday morning quarterbacks are saying
they got two downs to pick up three yards.
That Philadelphia Eagles with Saquon Barkley on the offensive line
are going to be able to do that regardless
why are they throwing it at all? Your thoughts on
this particular decision, what does this mean
for the Eagles and is Kellen Moore going to be okay
over here? Is Kellen Moore going to be okay over here?
Yeah, I was
actually okay with the decision and the
play call and the play design
now I can see there's an alternative
thought process for what they did
but I was totally fine with it.
I think the issue that I have goes back to the first half,
fourth and goal from the four-yard line that they went for.
And my issue is this, dude.
If you just watch that drive that happens and they get three out of it,
first down, nine-yard run.
Second down, they run an RPO.
They dump the ball to the tight end
first excuse me second and one they take a shot it's not there easy check down the next five
plays they run the football right down the field right down the field right down the field they
get the third and goal from the four yard line for some reason they decide to throw the football
in that situation it's when they they started saquon outside they motioned saquon in he was
matched by a corner everybody on the planet should know that's a zone defense.
And they actually call a man-beating pass concept.
Atlanta plays zone.
They shut down the pass concept.
Nowhere to throw the football.
I sit there and go, kick the field goal.
You just had a good drive.
It's fourth and goal from the four.
It's not fourth and goal from the one.
Take the points at home.
3-0.
Get a good start.
Yeah, this one.
Now watch.
They're going to jam Goddard at the line of scrimmage on fourth down.
And because of the way that the rush comes, Jalen's got to leave to his right.
There's nowhere to throw the football.
You take points off the bar.
My opinion, that was the much more egregious decision.
Agreed.
Now, to the third down that they throw the ball to Saquon and drops it.
I'm okay with it. The alternative perspective
is something that I learned from Peyton
and I stole from Peyton
philosophically. In this
situation, and I saw Mike Lombardi
tweeted this out, and I agree with it.
Oh, you followed? Did you like the post?
Did he keep the tweet up?
Okay.
He said, you're not playing the Falcons, you're playing the did. I heartened it. Did he keep the tweet up? Okay. Too soon.
Too soon.
He said, you're not playing the Falcons.
You're playing the clock.
I agree with that.
So what I learned from Peyton was in that situation, there's a buck 40 or so on the clock.
It's third down.
You really want to force them to use their timeout while also trying to gather a first down
and making sure the one thing you can't do, stop the clock.
So what Peyton would do is you go into third down in your huddle in that situation,
and you say, hey, guys, this is our play.
And it's a run play.
You're not calling a pass play.
This is the run play, okay?
Immediately after this play, if we do not pick up a first down,
we're all going to sprint to the line of scrimmage.
And you're going to hear me say, run the same play or Xerox or Xerox,
something that is a code word, but it's a a dummy we are not snapping the football at all you're trying to
put pressure on the defense we're going to run the same exact play you're trying to sell to the
defense same exact play same exact play and you're really just trying to draw them off sides
seeing if you can get them to quickly jump off sides then Then, if that's the case, first down, game over. If they
don't jump off sides, and you're trying to, again, multiple different ways, this is a set package,
you might have shift, emotion, you're trying to get them to jump off sides. If they don't,
you've bled the clock all the way down. You tell your team, we're not snapping the football,
the only thing we do is touch. The offensive lineman will touch, the corresponding guy jumps
off sides, you never snap the ball. If they don't,
we bleed the clock another 40 seconds
and we take
a delay a game and we kick the field goal.
Then there's 50 seconds left with
no timeouts. Yeah, there's so
many different ways to handle that. The more we go
through them all, and you were talking about that one,
running up a hurry up and maybe they
do jump offsides because they're so excited
and zeeked up, but then you could also run the play you ran with Saquon there, you know,
because that is a sell of a run, which Atlanta bought.
Got to have to.
Atlanta bought that on that third and three.
Maybe you save that for fourth down.
Maybe you save that particular one for fourth down
and then just understand, you know, that up three is just as good as up six
seemingly in your head if worse comes to worse and it all nonetheless this ball's caught its
first down Saquon knows that Philadelphia knows that but since it's not now we gotta question
everything that's right and since Kirk Cousins goes and does what Kirk Cousins does seemingly
as of late on primetime there were some stats that just got tweeted out uh about Kirk in primetime
and how it was a conversation now his stats never matched what the records were no in those prime time games but he was like got
off like two and ten or something like that yeah in prime time games now he's like six out of the
last eight kirk cousins has come alive and i think if you were to ask kirk cousins team not kirk
because kirk is too incredibly humble to say that but his team like his agents and stuff they'd be
like kirk always plays good kirk is actually plays his best football in prime time.
Just his teams have never seemingly showed up.
Do we think the Atlanta Falcons are a good team this year after a big-time win yesterday?
You think their team?
Yeah?
I do, absolutely.
I've legit said that I think they're very real in the NFC when it comes to being contenders to go to the Super Bowl.
But that's the team I saw last night, Pat.
What I watched in week one was gross.
Philosophically, it was scheme.
It was pistol and shotgun, no play action.
I always believed, one, really good play action passing quarterback.
Two, I think it's a really good, to AQ's point,
really good offensive line when it comes to that zone scheme.
And then three three they've got
the pieces that should excel in this offense I feel all offseason I've said hey Drake London
is going to be a breakout star Bijan Robinson is going to play like Todd Gurley in this offense
that he did for the Rams when Sean McVay got there I've always thought that that defense
now that they've added Bates in one year and Simmons in the next year, Terrell is awesome.
So I think that they're a very, very good football team
if they play style-wise what they were last night.
And I would think moving forward they will.
Go ahead, AJ.
Dan, what about this Eagles defense?
That last drive, Kirk just made it look too easy.
You played quarterback for a long time.
What should do?
I guess what gives you problems as a quarterback in a situation like that like what would you have done if you were a D coordinator
right then yeah I think the number one thing that gives quarterbacks problems in those two
minute situations if you don't allow us to throw the ball kind of where we need to I mean they
start on first down with a buck 40 and Kirk gets a completion into the middle of the field that's
easy for us in that moment.
The next three plays, he gets completions to the sidelines. I mean, that's exactly where I want to
throw the football. I want to get a chunk. I want to get out of bounds. And they seemingly just
allowed that. Now that tackle is made in bounds, but that's because Mooney's fighting for extra
yards. But the fact that like you're allowing me just to get the ball to the perimeter of your defense
and stopping the clock, that's the biggest problem.
I mean, again, tying all of this together.
What the hell is Vic Fangio doing?
Yeah, I mean, dude.
What the hell is Vic Fangio doing?
You've seen this before.
Where?
You've seen this before.
I mean, part of that explosive, I mean, once again, you're only going to get so many calls for that rookie cornerback,
and this is for all cornerback.
You've got to play that high to low.
We had Chuck Pagano on the stream with Dutch Danger.
Trying to seven.
Or low seven.
You give up or check down seven.
You've got the back end, the line of scrimmage,
and you've got a seven route that's 22 yards behind you.
Seven around here.
Trying to seven.
All right.
So you play the seven.
You make them throw the check down.
You rally down and tackle.
Even if they get out of bounds, they pick up six yards,
and then you line up.
You can't give up a 26, 20, whatever it was, yard completion.
And like D-Bud, I would say this, too.
I mean, I'm on the right hash, and that receiver, Mooney, is by himself.
Yeah.
Put two and two together.
You know, I know he's a Kunyan young player.
He had some really nice plays last night.
I'm getting in that formation, one, because of time efficiency.
I started in trips, yes. But two,
I had that guy cut
down for a very specific reason.
I'm trying to gain leverage.
Kirk doesn't look anywhere else. Leave myself all
that space to the sideline. Kirk didn't look
anywhere else either. I'm just now
realizing that. And there was,
these are all on first downs too, so this is one
play after another. There isn't like a good
play mixed in here that we've edited out.
And it's like for the Philadelphia Eagles, it was just like bing, bang, boom,
like they rehearsed it, like it was a script, literally like it was a script.
Hey, this is what the defense is going to show.
This is what we're going to do.
This is two minutes.
Let's go ahead and put our – maybe.
You're saying there was a script last night?
Jason Kelsey in Philadelphia night, I don't think the script will go towards Kirk Cousins.
I mean, nobody gets better as a city when they're pissed off in Philadelphia.
Yeah, you're right.
But old buddy, that John tore his John.
Yeah, he did.
And he tore that John.
Yep.
Did you see that?
Big fanatic stomach guy?
Yeah, I saw that.
Yeah, I saw.
We were actually there.
We, uh,
my, our NFL Live
was down there.
So, my wife and kids
came down.
We went to the game.
My kids were not happy
at the end.
Um,
but, yeah, it was great.
It was a good scene, man.
Good fun.
So, you guys did NFL Live
live from Philadelphia?
Wow.
Yeah.
Cool.
How was it?
Good show?
Did you guys,
you feel like you hit it out of the park or what?
Yeah, it was a good show.
It was good.
It was good.
It was nice to kind of get everyone together because everyone's schedules are all crazy
so much.
So it was good.
It was good to be on scene.
They got a place down there, Xfinity Live.
Like it's in between football, I think like hockey and where the Sixers play and baseball.
And it's just basically like a giant restaurant bar scene.
Casino.
Oh, yeah.
There's casino down there.
Nick Foles, Fletcher Cox, Santa Claus, Jason Kelsey,
and then the Big Eagle obviously witnessed a man's ACL tear
before the game even started.
But what a vibe.
It was good in there.
So for Atlanta to get in and get that win, what a time.
NFC South all of a sudden looking alive, except for one particular team.
Go ahead, D-Butch.
No, yeah, standing in NFC South.
Bryce Young benched two games into the season.
They're going to Andy Dalton, at least in the near future.
What's your thoughts on that situation?
How does it play out?
Is there a way you go back to Bryce Young?
What do you think the thought process is with Dan Morgan and Canales
down there in Carolina?
No, I think Bryce is done in Carolina.
And I would encourage them, implore them just to trade him.
You're not going back.
You're not making this move unless you have, one, already decided as a group, as an organization, hey, we're moving on.
Or you're going to lose your locker room if you keep playing him.
So, you know like
i think he's done in carolina um i've seen it floated around you know the dolphins if i were
the los angeles rams i would probably make a call and d but you know this like aj you know it in pat
you know like this thank you it's kind of why teams go through their quarterback evaluations
in the draft draft process even though they're unlikely to be drafted in one where those guys are expected to be drafted.
Because, you know, the Rams might have absolutely loved Bryce Young coming out of the draft last year.
And so this might be a situation now.
Matthew's older.
Their team has been absolutely destroyed by injuries.
Their perspective on their season is kind of very different right now.
So I just don't think in Carolina, you know, we've seen Baker.
We've seen Gino.
We've seen Sam Darnold now a little bit.
We've seen Jared Goff, I guess, a little bit.
You know, those guys have made their careers, but they're all at different places.
You know, I just don't think it gets remade in Carolina.
One win for Malik Willis.
Yeah, but he looked like a completely different guy.
12-14.
How about him?
Where are we going?
Yeah.
Exactly.
And that's a good Coles team.
You're right.
That was, yeah, I mean, Malik played well,
but that was as good a coaching as you can do by the floor.
I mean, it was ridiculous.
And on the other side.
Agreed.
And Coach Steichen's obviously trying his absolute best to do his thing.
Guys, Bradley's in his bag, bro.
Hey, Anthony, now that we're talking about the Colts,
and I don't want to pivot away from the Bryce Young story,
which is a massive one, we're pulling for him.
Hey, good luck out there, Bryce.
Good luck, Bryce.
Let's talk about the Indianapolis Colts because we have a rookie quarterback
as well,
drafted in three picks later than Bryce Young.
Anthony Richardson missed his entire rookie year, seemingly.
He played five games, was electrifying.
There's going to be ups and downs with Anthony Richardson.
This is just how it's going to go for him.
What are your thoughts on the Colts as a whole?
Yeah, you just have to have tremendous patience in that situation
because not only is he so young in the NFL,
I think he's started like 18 games in his life since high school football.
So he just needs so much game reps.
I think the, you know, like this interception,
there's a couple things that you could be honest about
when it comes to disappointment so far is. One, mechanically just falling back there and just floating the ball in the middle of the field.
There's no reason for you to fall back there.
You're 6'4", 250 pounds.
That ball should be thrown to the back right pylon.
It's either Alec Pierce or A.D. Mitchell, I think, or maybe it's Pittman Jr. running the post.
You should just launch that ball with firm feet in your pocket, not drifting away and just floating it down the field. That
has to get corrected. I think the other interception, and I know Anthony said I was
trying to play with anticipation. I love that, but you can't play with assumption. You can't
assume just because you might look at that short end ad mitchell that that backer is
going to listen to you so you might try to move him but you just got to get the pace of if i don't
move them i can reset quickly to to ad on that short end so those are two decisions that you
want to see development and growth in and you got to make mistakes i get all that um i'd also say
the two other things that you want to see better is,
and this showed itself in the preseason,
there is still a lack of consistent connection between the timing
of when he's ready to throw
and when really specifically A.D. Mitchell is ready for the football.
In both their drop back game and their RPO game.
A couple of plays early on where A.D. is still running his route
and Anthony is like, dude, I'm waiting for so that that that has to have both of them get that
fixed and then I guess the surprising part is like they haven't really gutted somebody with an
explosive run yet and I thought that would be a little bit more of a staple yeah Jonathan Taylor's
not on the field fourth quarter too and then yeah what's that about for real is there any answers on
that why he wasn't it's like he kind of gave an answer you know he kind of was like yeah just
just kind of how it goes yeah just kind of like yeah this is it or whatever you know so yeah
well the colts are in a good spot you know he's a rookie yeah he's a rookie we need to understand
that but the rest of that team isn't there's a lot of money invested in that team yeah there's
a lot of money invested in it they watch have you watching. Have you told Kirk yet how you watch all this
damn film?
Because he...
Kurt Warner, yeah.
He doesn't think
you're watching.
No, no.
Damn watch it.
Obviously, he's calling
out plays and time
to throw.
14 seconds left.
You might need to put
that out there
for the rest of us.
You said,
Kirk?
Kurt.
Kurt.
American underdog.
American comeback.
Yeah, American underdog.
What did Kirk say?
Kirk wanted to say he doesn't know how all these people say on Monday mornings that they
watch all the film.
I've fucking been watching since 4 a.m.
Well, I think, so.
That's what he said.
That's what Kirk wanted to say.
I'll give you mine.
I feel like I've said this before.
Like, one, all 22 doesn't become available until 6 o'clock the morning after the game is played.
Shout out to NFL Plus, NFL Bro.
Yeah, it is awesome.
But the all 22, meaning you can see all 22 dudes on the field, that's not available to 6 o'clock next morning.
So I get, you know, like I just hop on and I watch.
I try to watch about, I want to say, games sunday afternoon into sunday night and then i watch
another hopefully four or five on monday i don't watch all of them by monday but i watch everyone
that i'm going to talk about by monday what do you do live what do you do on sundays during like
you're watching other games while it's live no i mean like one o'clock comes around i really try
to like hang out with my family and my my sister my daughter might have a like a soccer
game my boys might be playing a football game so um i'm not married to the television at one o'clock
by like four or five o'clock that's when i sit down laptop and just hop on ngs and start to rewatch
games okay so you're he's taking it in while people are just watching games he's watched four
games you watch one game i watch four that's the wolofsky difference that's right so you start doing some math all of a sudden how many games can You watch one game, I watch four. That's the Orlovsky difference.
So you start doing some math, all of a sudden, how many
games can you watch? You can watch four. I'm already at 16.
What's that? That's the season.
Like, the only game I have not
watched yet this weekend is
Cleveland-Jacksonville.
That's a smart play.
Commander's Giants also probably
worth a nod. Yeah, but you had to
because New York and the entire thing.
The thing you need to know from Cleveland-Jacksonville,
the winner of the best big old punt this week,
Corey Bohork, was puts it on.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, sticks it.
You didn't see it.
This is a massive punt, obviously.
16-13, up three, going to make them drive long haul,
even with these long field goal kickers kicking balls.
Boom, checks up, out of bounds at the one.
That's what you need to know.
Boom, ball game.
Ends the game, right?
Next place is safety.
Yep.
Check ball, ball game.
Yep, so you did see it.
Look at you.
You're keeping up with it all.
I saw the ending of that.
Well, I don't know if he was talking about you either.
Kurt Warner could have been talking about anybody else,
but it did feel like more specifically.
No, he wasn't talking about Dan.
No, nobody was.
Kurt, no, you can watch the games live.
He's calling games, brother.
Yeah, he is.
He's on Westwood One.
I watched the NFL Network's pregame show,
Game Day Morning.
Yep.
No more Michael Irvin.
Man.
Massive bummer.
Miss him.
I missed the playmaker on there.
I will say, me too. I love the glues and recipes.
I think that's a big...
So much juice.
It brings so much to the show.
I didn't know he was not on program this year.
I think that kind of...
But then I watched ESPN one as well.
Greeny is just...
Awesome watch.
Greeny is a great host. He is a great mover and a shaker.
Rex Ryan, too, a little bit more wide open this year than years past.
A little bit more wide open than years past.
Obviously, Randy's Randy.
I love Randy.
I love what we're doing.
I think things are going well.
Let's go to where things are going well when none of us could have expected,
especially whenever a calf injury popped up two days before a game.
Let's go to Pittsburgh with AP Tone.
Yeah, Dan, no one's eyes I trust
more than yours, okay? I'm seeing numbers
out there that Justin Fields has the highest
QBR in the AFC North,
higher than Patrick Mahomes even.
I don't know if I'm exactly seeing that. I want to know
what you're seeing. What's your takeaway from Justin Fields
so far through two games?
Yeah, I think
the best thing that Justin hasn't done is he's not
hurt the football team true you know he just and that's really growth and and kind of maturation
at that position that was one of the things in relation to justin that a lot of people and
rightfully so would point to kind of over the last year is like oh man this guy just he holds the
football too long and he takes too many sacks. And while he can create big plays here and there, it's minimized because, you know, you're constantly in a backed up situation or behind the chains.
And I think Justin's really grown and developed in that specific element.
Now, part of it is because Arthur Smith has done a fantastic job of not putting him in positions to, I guess, make a bad decision in regards to that i do know
this i know this like qb and that's probably why the qbr is where it is tone like that that's a
little bit why you know you can sometimes numbers can say whatever you want them to say type of
thing um and some and i think sacks are a big part of that. I know this. Every time through two weeks it feels like he's thrown the ball downfield.
It's been a successful play and a really big play and thrown very well.
I think he would have had another 100 yards this past weekend
and two more touchdowns if not for offensive penalties.
Mickey Mouse.
One on the hold when he sprints out to his right and knocks the ball
or bombs the ball down to Pickens, which is beautiful.
If Patrick made that throw or Lamar made that throw or Josh made that throw,
you know, America would be losing their mind.
He throws a touchdown to Pickens and they call P.I., O.P.I.,
which I thought was a little ticky-tacky.
So I think the best thing is he's gotten the ball out of his hands
in an efficient manner.
He's used his legs when he's needed to rather than being so reliant on it he hasn't hurt
their offense to get so far behind the sticks i think arthur's done a really good job of
keepers meaning get him outside the pocket the play action which you know really like there's
some play actions that indeed but you know this and aj like you it's the full field right like
you got to see all the field and then there's some play actions where it really just cuts the
field in half like hey man you don't really have to pay attention to one half the field. And then there's some play actions where it really just cuts the field in half.
Like, hey, man, you don't really have to pay attention to one half of the field.
We can go one to two to three.
And that forces quarterbacks to play a little faster.
I think he's done a really good job with that.
I've said this.
I think Justin should be their starter,
and I think they could beat basically anybody with him.
Okay.
That's a huge feast there.
They can win a Super Bowl with Justin Fields?
That's a stretch. I still don't win a Super Bowl with Justin Fields? That's a stretch.
I still don't think they're explosive enough.
In week five.
So you can beat anybody.
Basically.
Yeah, but I don't think they're explosive enough to beat probably like your Houstons,
your Kansas Cities.
I think the Jets can get hot, Buffalo.
My point in saying that is I don't think
they can do that with Russ.
I just don't. I don't believe
that they're capable of doing that with Russ.
I think if they continue to progress,
I can see them becoming more explosive
on offense. Yeah. Congratulations,
Pittsburgh Saints. Got it right.
Got it right. That was a good trade.
That was a good trade to pick up Justin Fields.
They're paying Russell Wilson $1 million.
They're not really financially invested there either,
although Russell Wilson was allegedly the leader in a clubhouse going into training camp.
Then he gets injured.
Justin Fields has a bunch of time.
Feels like he's won over the locker room over here as well,
which is obviously a massive ordeal.
Let's talk about another quarterback that is seemingly in his bag.
Ty has a question for you.
Yeah, Dano, Derek Carr.
And it's kind of funny because I look at him,
and I've always thought that he's got a lot of Dan Orlovsky in him.
And I'm just curious.
Every year he kind of has the – he'll have a really hot start,
and then he'll have multiple games where he kind of falls apart,
doesn't look great.
But is – I don't know why everyone's laughing right now.
I don't know either.
I think that's a pretty fair take.
It's a compliment, right?
Yeah, it's a compliment.
Clearly it's a compliment.
But do you think we're going to get that this year, Dano,
or do you think Clint Kubiak has kind of unlocked something in Derek Carr
that he hasn't had for quite some time?
I thought you were on my team. I am. Did you see what Derek Carr just he hasn't had for quite some time. I thought you were on my team.
I am.
Did you see what Derek Carr just did?
Front runner for MVP.
I was going to say.
Yeah, dude, I think, you know, Clint Kubiak,
obviously his dad Gary Kubiak, longtime stud coach in the NFL,
one of my favorite coaches I got to play for.
I think Clint Kubiak is to Derek Carr what Bobby Slovic was last year to CJ Stroud.
Number one, he is constantly putting the defense to play hesitant and in conflict with putting him under center,
using motion at the snap to kind of create some hesitation, force eyes to pay attention to it,
make defenses both at the linebacker and defensive line level
to just play a little sideways. I think number two, they're committing to protection with him.
A lot of their play action passes last week were seven or eight man protection.
You're making sure that you're giving him clean pockets. Like Micah Parsons,
you know, like in basketball where you hear, like, where's Micah on this one? He's front side. Dude,
you got a tackle going out to Micah and then you have a back going on an outside zone fake to Micah's hip
so that helps the tackle that also forces just another body so you're you're minimizing that
best pass rush Shahid is an absolute burner um so I think you're seeing indeed but you know this
like the splits you know you're you're creating leverage for these guys.
No hands on at that wide receiver.
He's head up on that safety.
I think Derek Carr's got a ton of confidence in that right now.
And so I think, you know, I'm obviously a massive fan of this system.
It's the one I grew up in.
I think all the great offenses in the NFL, basically outside of Kansas City, run it.
And the best thing is it forces every time a ball gets snapped,
the defense plays with a question mark rather than an exclamation point.
So, yeah, that's what he meant by a lot of Dan Orlovsky.
Thank you.
The same system.
Exactly.
I will say that Balder Shahid from Derek Arden, obviously,
if Kamara.
It's Kamara.
Kamara.
Kamara.
Alvin Kamara. Kamara. Kamara. Alvin Kamara.
Kamara.
He said say it hard.
Yeah, he did.
That was a couple years ago.
I don't know if we're still in that world.
But Kamara, if he's going to play like that, obviously awesome.
We've seen Derek Carr miss that throw.
Oh, yeah.
To Shahid.
But instead, this one is in a bucket.
It's pretty crazy what confidence can do for somebody.
Even at the highest level.
Derek Carr, at one point, was going to go get an MVP.
Then a Christmas Eve game happened against the Indianapolis Colts,
and his knee got twisted up like a chicken wing, legitimately.
We were there.
That was not cool.
He was a rocket ship at the time for everything.
Then there was a little bit of a setback.
Then obviously the way things ended with the Raiders,
he goes down to New Orleans.
Now he seemingly has everything that he needs and wants
and feels his best.
And then, yeah, absolutely.
Hitting the entire thing.
It's like Derek Carr.
Are we in prime Derek Carr time right now?
Feels like it.
Carr's always been a good player, man.
Like the problem last year with them was.
Good.
I agree.
Good.
Not great.
Fair point.
That is like the always been good.
Was on the rocket ship To being like
Great great
With the Raiders
Gets injured
I think there's obviously
A little bit of effect on that
Everything happens with the Raiders
Now it's like
Yeah Derek Carr
Good quarterback
Good quarterback
It's like Derek Carr
Great quarterback right now
What's your schedule coming
Do we have any idea
I want to see like
I'm trying to think of a defense
That I think
Is going to match up with
Well with them
Eagles
You know
Tampa's Tampa's defense to match up well with them. Eagles. Tampa's defense will match up well with them.
Well, Tampa, yeah, that's always a divisional battle.
It's like we thought the NFC South.
Detroit's defense will match up well with that.
I think everybody was thinking the NFC South like, bah, bah, bah.
And then it's like Kirk Cousins doing it, Baker doing it, Derek Carr doing it down there.
Now, Carolina's Andy Dalton.
He's going to do it.
Look at that.
We just took a trip back in time almost down there in the NFC South,
and they're all playing their best ball.
All those quarterbacks that you mentioned, Pat, all have the same scheme.
They all come from the Shanahan tree.
Baker, Kirk, and Carr, all Shanahan tree.
Okay.
That's wild to think about. The whole league, though? Yeah, well, I saw that tree. Basically, yeah. All Shannon and Tree. Okay. That's wild to think about.
The whole league, though?
Yeah, well, I saw that Tree.
Basically, yeah.
I saw the Tree.
It is pretty much everybody that's running offense in the NFL right now.
Hey, before we have a hard out here on ESPN,
didn't want to bring it up, obviously.
Did ESPN tell you to delete that tweet or no?
I just need to know.
Can you tell me?
That's all you need to say.
Did ESPN tell you to delete that tweet or no?
ESPN did not, nor did anyone associated with ESPN tell me to delete that.
Okay, okay.
All right, okay.
Because it came out that it wasn't,
and obviously you didn't want to be the one that I get where you were standing.
You feel like I could lose my job.
I don't need to be that.
Everybody has attacked you.
We want to let you know we think you're a good dude.
We think you are a good dude, Dan.
I think you obviously made a little whoopsie there in that regular situation.
That's an accurate assessment.
Okay, and we move on.
We're thankful you're back.
We'll be back tomorrow on ESPN.
We continue on YouTube, ESPN Plus, and TikTok Live.
Cheers.
All right, so as we continue to go here now, you talk about these guys,
the Nostalgia team down in the NFC South all playing great football. Let's talk to a dude who's playing great football since he got in the nfl go
ahead con man yeah dan just delete it was whoopsie uh my homes yes yes one million okay just double
check when we're talking about great quarterbacks obviously my homes is that guy but you know the
stats and everything like that that people are talking about aren't too impressive to start here
what have you seen from the chiefs offense and why won't he throw the ball to Travis?
Is it because of that debate off the field going on?
Huh?
Trouble.
What's going on?
Britt, you were shell-shocked.
Yeah.
That aggressive takedown.
That's what I heard.
I'm not talking about that stuff.
Smart.
I only. Yeah. I'm not talking about that stuff. Smart. Smart.
Damn, that's smart.
I only like sports.
Yeah.
Yeah, so I think week one, you know, when you watch this offense in week one
against Baltimore, very impressive performance.
I think you saw some of the speed element of Xavier Worthy be very new to Baltimore going back to the Thursday night game
and the offensive line conforming at a high level.
Oh, shit.
Sorry, Ty just threw his phone over here.
Don't get distracted like Neil Brown, please.
Just continue.
A little noise.
All right, everybody, let's move along.
Nothing happened.
A little noise.
Sorry, Dan.
Jeez Louise.
You had a good answer going.
Ty, you good, bud?
Yeah, I'm good. It's a little noise going on. The phone's not good, though. The phone just hits the table. Jeez Louise. You had a good answer going. Ty, you good, bud? Yeah, I'm good.
It's a little noise going on.
The phone's not good, though.
The phone just hangs in there.
Broke.
I can't believe you, Boston Connor.
Why?
Why?
What do you do?
Good question.
Noche means night.
Night.
Is that why?
Yeah, you don't know?
Hola.
Aquí estamos, mi amigo.
Noche.
Igual.
Night.
Why won't he throw to Kelsey?
Yeah, that's a big question.
Yeah, I mean.
A couple big ones.
Because he's on my fantasy team.
Yeah, and he's got to play well for us.
I think the reality is, one, Rasheed Rice has become the main number one target for that offense.
Rightfully so.
I think that the way that they're designing their plays are really specific to Rasheed Rice trying to get him either one-on-one matchups down the field or getting him across the middle of the field constantly on the move.
That's kind of been the theme for their past game offensively.
I think, too, Travis has been asked to be a little bit – this was a little bit of the case last year.
Part of some of their protection initially was the left tackle position. Their left tackle is struggling a little bit of the case last year part of some of their protection you know initially was you know what the left tackle position their left tackle struggling a bit this Travis has to
initially have to initially chip or whatnot and I think three like they're they're throwing the
football just a little bit less they are I you know teams are playing them structurally the way
they have for the past couple of seasons I don't think the lack of targets or production from Travis is going to
be an issue. We saw this last year. We saw it ramp up as the season was going on. New piece,
Xavier Worthy, a focus point of trying to get him a little bit involved in their passing game as
well. So I think this offense, it's cliche, every year is different, and they're trying to figure
out what they're going to be on offense this year. Yeah, and Travis
is saying, who's afraid? A little old me.
You should be. To defenses
and right now, I'm afraid
that our fantasy team is going to be in trouble.
No, we are fine. Let me tell you why.
Because Travis understands that right now
it isn't about building up his confidence. It's about building
up Rasheed's confidence in that offense.
Xavier Worthy's offense
confidence in this entire thing.
And when you think about the Travis Kelsey-Rasheed Rice relationship,
I think Herbstreet said it on our show.
Maybe somebody else did.
They talked about how Travis Kelsey normally goes and meets with the quarterbacks
so he knows his shit, right?
I guess Travis Kelsey is very diligent,
like watches the most amount of film out of any tight end in history maybe.
And I think Gronk had a natural feel and figured it out, and he obviously had to put in an most amount of film out of any tight end in history maybe and
like i think gronk had a natural feel and figured it out and he obviously had to put in an immense
amount of work but i guess travis kelsey understanding what everybody's doing like a
quarterback is a big part of his game that's why he can do the travis kelsey shit and him and patrick
holmes are on the same page i guess he's brought rashid rice with him to those meetings now so i
guess rashid rice is getting like a deep understanding of like whole offense whole
defense how travis why you're doing what you're doing in there.
And I think that is a big brother, little brother situation
that's kind of brewing over there, which is not good for anybody.
Anybody else in the NFL?
It goes back to your point from yesterday.
Yeah, Rasheed Rice is so good.
Yeah, but your point was if you're not a fan of the Chiefs.
I mean, if you're not a fan of the Chiefs, look,
I got some more people on the bandwagon.
I like to see a lot of people.
My bandwagon.
Bullshit bandwagon.
You don't need to root for just one team.
Let them control your happiness throughout the season.
Enjoy the rest of the college football season, Gumps.
You're a Dolphins fan too, D-Bucks.
That's the problem, brother.
Your Eagles lost last night.
Hey, look, we're tough.
But my Chargers, guess what? My Chargers. It's our ball season, brother. Your Eagles lost last night. Hey, look, we're tough. But my Chargers, guess what?
My Chargers!
It's hardball season, baby.
Four years, man. Look, if you're not the Chiefs,
then the Chiefs will figure it out. Kelsey, in the biggest
moments, in the biggest games, he's going to make
the biggest play. That's just who he is.
But Rasheed Rice is developing.
Like Dan said, he is kind of that number one target.
He's explosive.
When you get a high-low with Kelsey and Rasheed Rice in the middle of the field,
you saw it in the Baltimore game, one of the big plays that Rasheed Rice had.
Two linebackers underneath the hook defenders.
They're both keyed on Kelsey.
Boom, Rice climbs behind him.
And then you're going to have five or six plays that you've got to get Xavier Worthy hands on the ball.
So, I mean, they're going to be a low, especially when Pacheco gets back in that lineup.
Dan, how about my question for you is,
Travis running Travis routes,
because he understands everything so much,
is good because he knows where everybody else is going.
He knows where everybody's going to be against this defense.
This is going to be the hole.
Nobody's going to be there.
I'm going to go occupy that space,
and Patrick's going to find me.
Like, they kind of broke it down, I think,
with the Alex Smith thing about a little bit more
the other day on Sunday, yada, yada, yada.
Can't have multiple people doing that, right, on one offense?
Correct.
Can't, right?
Because then knowing where everybody else is going to be.
There's rules, guys, and there's guidelines, guys.
There's rules, guys.
You know, like, hey, this is the play, dude.
And if you're not smart enough to handle anything more than that
or you make mistakes or you you know make
mistakes or you think one way and it's not that way or you fool the quarterback like you got to
follow the rules we don't give you freedom we don't give you leeway and then there's guidelines
guys that hey the play is this but if you prove that you can kind of handle it and see it the
right way and you do the right stuff at the right time more often than not and it it
ends up being a you know a good play like you give those guys freedom and guidelines to do that stuff
i mean like one of the greatest dudes i was ever around when it came to that was lance moore for
the saints like lance was kind of similar in that regard like lance was this guy like hey this is
the play and he'd be like all right but like listen if they do this and you kind of feel this and i i'm just expect me to kind of break this off and go to
that space and whatnot and so he he was a guy that like took it from the paper and said i understand
that but i want to kind of put my own color on it so he was there's guys there's guys like that for
sure and for she rice becomes one of those guys because these meetings it's happening good luck
you know yeah that's just like uh the next generation of it taking place.
I think Brees Hall actually told Aaron Rodgers, right,
that we're going to talk to him in about 25 minutes.
Brees Hall said, hey, I'm going to go out there.
If there's a linebacker on me, throw me a go ball.
Throw it.
And Aaron goes, you got it.
And then they throw him a go ball.
Dude, that's so good.
That's so good, man.
For a young kid to do that to a Hall of Famer, too, like that –
like you've got to pay it forward.
You know, you've got to go make the catch to credit him.
And then, Pat, I have to run because I've got to go do stuff for the Bills.
So I apologize.
I love you guys.
Wow.
You know what?
Dude, the best play – the best play in that game is the throw to Garrett Wilson
on third and one.
Yeah, the little whoopity-woo.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, that's filthy.
I saw you on your little thing doing a thing yesterday.
We appreciate you so much.
Obviously, them both on the same page is beautiful.
The chemistry is real.
The catch is insane.
The route is absurd.
And it's in the fourth quarter, so it's a big time.
And there's like three – Aaron changes the whole play with like three seconds on the play clock.
Well, yeah, he's the last minute.
The amount of –
Yeah, those.
They get out of air.
And Salah, too, calling timeouts on the sideline.
What are we doing?
It's like, that's Aaron Rodgers football, brother.
We are dissecting everything that's happening on the other side
for as long as we possibly can.
And there's going to be a little red shadow behind that play clock.
Every time.
Three, two, every single time.
You need to just relax.
Welcome to the show.
Now, if he gets a delay game, a lot of people are going to go,
this guy can't make a decision.
This is the show, huh?
This is the show I want.
Okay, we're losing five yards.
All right, Dan, good luck talking to the Bills.
Tell everybody we said hello.
I got their Monday Night Football, Jack, so I appreciate it.
Love you, boys.
Thank you.
You too, Dan.
See you, Dan.
Like the vest, Dan.
Good vest.
No, you don't wear vests.
That's not true.
In the house?
I've thought about wearing vests every once in a while.
Salvin Warren-Shamus is pretty while. Warren Shamus is pretty disrespectful.
Yeah, he is pretty disrespectful.
It's disrespectful to wear that
to the wrong moment. I agree.
But on this day, it might have been the right day
because he just signed an extension with the WWE
Congress, Shamus.
Did he sign with Georgia Tech?
I think he's a consultant.
He's their Matt
McConaughey, right? He's their Matt McConaughey. Yeah, you're right. Director of Vibes. Culture. Director He's their Matt McConaughey, right? He's their Matt McConaughey.
Yeah, you're right.
Director of vibes.
Culture.
Director of culture.
Matt McConaughey does have good vibes on that side.
Oh, my God.
It's awesome.
It is.
The aura.
Every single snap he is living and dying with.
Yeah.
Okay, all right.
A lot of this.
A lot of this.
Bringing it in.
Bringing it in from the sun.
I love that.
Bringing it in from the sun.
He knows how powerful the sun is.
He's a real deal.
I'm powered by the sun, butb So is this Texas Longhorns team
They might have a squad this year
How do you look so young?
Oh, the lotions, brother
And water
The eating's awesome
That's A.J. Hawk
The Talks at the Table is here at Boston Corner
And at Ty Schmidt
One half of the hammer
Dime Cowboys, A.P. Tone is here And at Table is here at Boss O'Connor and at Ty Schmidt. One after the hammer. Down!
Cowboys AP Tone is here.
And nine-year NFL vet Darius J. Butler is here.
Good to see you, D-Botch boys.
Good to see you.
We're about ten minutes away from Aaron stopping by,
chit-chatting about his second official win as a New York Jet quarterback,
preparing for Thursday night football in a big one.
Huge.
In a big one on Thursday night.
That is obviously going to be an AFC East indicator for the rest of the year.
How do you feel going in, Conman?
I feel fantastic.
It's going to be a gritty game.
I mean, the Patriots, as we know, they play a hard brand of football.
But, yeah, going up against Aaron Rodgers isn't the greatest mood for Patriots fans.
Yeah, you know, there's a lot of respect, I think, for Aaron Rodgers around New England
Patriots fans.
I think Bill Belichick, obviously, I could do sentiments for a long time.
He just, you know, everything they say about him seemingly can be debunked by numerous actions by Aaron Rodgers.
He does not want to rub the scoreboard.
He does not want to throw for 300 yards, 400 yards, 500 yards, like a pre-Madonna quarterback could potentially want.
He will literally do whatever it takes to win the game.
I'm excited to see what the Jets think it's going to take to beat the New England Patriots
because the New England Patriots are going into every game trying to figure out how they
just get one point more than the other team.
It's like, is this going to be an old school slugfest, very low scoring, six and a half
feels like a lot of points, especially with the trend that we've had with these NFL games games he's just gonna be close how do you think this one bodes on thursday night aj
yeah i mean you would think i mean over under being 37 and a half that's definitely a low over
and under i'm guessing compared to others but kit is it possible we we never really know going in
but is it possible this thing turns into some kind of shootout like do are both teams capable
of making this a shootout so i think if you listen to Patriots fans,
they'll say Jacoby Brissett will not allow it to.
That's what Patriots fans say.
Patriots fans say he's looking to go, and then he checks it down.
And then he's looking to go, and then he checks it down.
It's like, well, maybe that's the plan.
Maybe the plan is, hey, we're taking all the easy.
We're taking the layups.
We're not scared to punt the ball back to them.
We're just going to eat up some time.
No turnovers.
Let's keep it moving as we await the young legend,
Drake Mays' debut for the New England Patriots.
But then on the flip side, Jets will operate the same way.
Aaron will operate in the same way.
They've got a duo in the backfield, though.
This 20-year-old Braylon Allen and then obviously Brees Hall back being healthy.
They've got an offensive line I think that he's much more emphatic with
than maybe in the years past.
They obviously got Garrett Wilson, who's an absolute weapon out there,
and some other guys.
But it's like they're not scared to just do check down,
play smart football either.
Aaron has never been afraid of that at all.
So I think it's low scoring.
I think 37.5 is trying to get people to think it's going to go over.
That probably ends up going under there if we had to guess in this entire thing.
Yeah, and there's a couple.
The Patriots lost Juwan Bentley for the year,
and he is our leading tackler, middle of the field, middle linebacker.
You assume that might hurt us as far as stopping the run goes.
I mean, with Gonzo, bringing the Gonzo flu to Garrett Wilson,
his time has arrived, unfortunately.
But Dropayo did say
in his presser, like, we have
to start trying to push the ball down
the field. So you never know. Maybe they do
chuck the ball a little bit here.
Maybe with the start that they've had, they start opening
it up a little bit and start playing a little bit more
loose. Let's go win these games as opposed to trying not to
lose. Field
goals are at a premium. We talked about this because of
the Eagles' decision.
2023 through two weeks,
86 offensive touchdowns.
2024, 69 of them.
There's more field goals
than there is offensive touchdowns in the league right now.
That was certainly not the case ever.
This is like the first year where this happens.
Do you think this remains? Do you think this changes?
Because like the Eagles last night,
I think they were living in last year
or the year before where field goals were not doing it.
Now people are doing field goals, and field goals are winning games, EJ.
Do you think this remains?
I think it changes.
Yeah.
No, I think touchdowns will start to pick up absolutely
as offensive coordinators get the book on defensive coordinators,
all that stuff.
I think it will even itself out, and we'll definitely see some explosive gains,
and I think more touchdowns moving forward. we'll definitely see some explosive gains.
And I think more touchdowns moving forward.
There's been a couple blowouts.
There's been a couple teams that have obviously had explosive juggernauts. The Saints didn't listen to that.
They didn't.
They're not listening.
Was that right that Graphic said 15 possessions?
Derek Hart said 15 possessions and they've scored on every possession?
Yeah, 15 for 15 on every possession.
Yeah, field goal I think once or twice and then touchdowns everywhere else. Remember 30 points first half, 35 points first half. It's like they
are scoring a lot of points and then obviously, who else? The Texans? No, who else did the,
somebody else had a big blow. Cardinals. Cardinals just had an offensive explosion
over the Los Angeles Rams with Kyler Murray. But other than
that, it's been a lot of
cagey affair.
It's been a lot of cagey affair. I don't want to say boring.
Don't say it. I'm not going to say it.
Some people definitely look at it that way.
It can't be. Week two, it can't be boring.
I agree because we have football.
It's not boring, but it is hard to
stay awake for some of these
primetime games.
That's what I'm saying.
That's what I'm saying.
See, we're old, though.
Now, for you guys, I would say for you guys, sure,
but it could be the most exciting game in the world.
I'm probably going to fall asleep.
We need to move to central time in Indianapolis.
We need to move the games up an hour.
That's an answer, too.
Why can't we do 7-15?
Well, because then West Coast is –
4-15 West Coast.
That needs to go. They haven't had a work yet.
Yeah, exactly. They're still in. What about if there's
a West Coast? Like San Francisco 49ers on Monday
Night Football to start that entire thing? That game kicks
off at 5-30 p.m. Those states don't
even like us anyway. Who's us?
Keep those ones at 8, though.
Who is us? The rest of America.
Okay. Those states.
The left side over there.
We got two of them this Monday.
We got good football teams over there.
A couple real good, especially with the Chargers coming into their.
Yeah.
Seattle.
Chargers doing their thing.
Seattle playing great football.
Vegas.
San Francisco 49ers.
The Vegas.
That in-coming appears.
Tom Telesco.
Embrace afterwards.
Was awesome.
Let's go to the Green Bay Packers-Indianapolis Colts game.
A couple things happened.
Jair Alexander said it's going to be the least amount of film we'll have to watch ever
in the history of football. He's certainly doing his dance leading the squad. Here's Jair Alexander
after the win against the Colts. Hey, hey, hey, hey, man. Great freaking win today. Celebrated
24 to 36 hours, but the best teams, the best teams, man, keep going from here, man. It ain't
no teetering. The best teams keep going and we going from here, man. It ain't no teetering.
The best teams keep going, and we all going to stay together and stick together as one and have each other's back from here on out.
Let's get it.
Let's get it.
Pack on three.
One, two, three.
Pack.
Jair Alexander, leader of the team.
He also said in a press conference that they were going to have to watch
the least amount of film that they've ever watched in their life
because Colts offense wasn't out there.
Colts offense was out there though during one particular
block for Quentin Nelson
that has certainly made its way around
the internet. We got the nicest and smartest
team in the league. So that is something we
got to continue to remember. Smartest, most guardian
caps, nicest. Quentin Nelson
could kill that
guy right there. Quentin Nelson
could have put his big old head and his
massive body through that guy right there. Oh, yeah. Quentin Nelson could have put his big old head and his massive body through
that guy's entire
sternum. But instead, knocks him down
gently, have to block you.
Sorry about it. You okay? And we keep
him moving. Nicest team in the league.
Does that count for anything, D. Butch?
I mean, you can look at it
multiple times. You can absolutely
hate it because that is the Maulers.
One of the toughest guards in the league. But look, it's 2024 football. multiple times. Smart. You can absolutely hate it because that is the Maulers. One of the toughest guards.
But look, it's 2024 football.
Player safety.
Smart play.
He goes and blows that guy out.
We know the rules with blindside. I don't know what.
I'm confused by the blindside rule, but I feel like there's no more crackbacks.
When we played, you had a heavy hit on the score.
See, but can he?
Let's say he hits him with his shoulder in his chest.
Is that legal?
Yeah, what's he allowed to do here?
That's what I'm saying.
I don't know.
So this is smart.
I remember special teams used to have the save it blocks.
It's almost one of those.
Look, you're making the block.
Is it a big block that's going to go on the highlight tape?
Yeah, now it is.
But it's smart, man.
You get the yards.
We needed every first down we could get.
Smart.
Hey, little thumbs up.
Hey, you good?
Good block.
Good block.
Save it blocks.
Guy running this way you're close
to side don't know hands up butt to person hands up butt to person running i didn't touch him i
didn't see him he actually hit me right yeah right in uh right in the back classic save it block
there quentin nelson did the uh forward facing save it Hey, please, look at the refs, please.
I didn't, right? We didn't do anything.
How come the football gods are rewarding us?
They will. We're in the most amount
of Guardian caps. They will. Smartest.
We're the nicest.
Quentin Nelson could have killed that guy.
Quentin Nelson could have been like, you know what?
I don't know what they're going to call, but I would like
to damage this guy so that his next pass
rush or his next play isn't as good as his current play,
like a lot of offensive linemen think.
A lot of offensive linemen think like that.
They're looking for ribs.
AQ simply comes on his show and he goes,
What are they doing now, boys?
Looking to cheap shot the shit out of somebody so that the next play
isn't as good as their last play.
We're talking helmet to ribs.
That is literally what they're thinking.
Quinn Nelson, known for being
mauler, physical guy.
Mean. Mean cuss.
Instead, smart football.
Nice football. You okay?
We're good here? Thank you. And the football
gods do what? Do what do they do?
We have a loser to Malik
Willis and Green Bay Packers?
What are we doing?
It's because the football gods also realize that your defensive coordinator
thought that Mike Leach's air raid was coming in
when everyone else in the world knew that they were going to run it 50-plus times.
And then your fans are out here calling Coach Steichen,
who is an offensive genius and a great coach,
they're calling Coach Stinken.
And they don't even know where to direct blame.
It ain't Coach Steichen's fault.
That's why the football gods are saying, you know what?
Fuck this team.
Maybe we don't say that anymore.
I don't want more people to laugh.
That's the last time I will ever say it.
Suck, Stinkin'.
I don't believe it.
That's not his name.
That's what people are calling him.
It pisses me off, too, because I think he's a great coach.
AJ, you hear what people are saying.
I didn't know this existed.
Now it's been sitting right there.
It's been sitting right there. I guess this entire time.
But as a, quote, pay attention to her
that I am,
Shane Steichen is not the person I would
ever try to think creatively for a bad name.
Like Gus Badley.
I can see how people would say
that.
But I don't like
that it's happening to Steichen.
And also Gus Bradley, he's a good man.
Great man. All of them are though.
Let's just put that down now.
Well, it's good people.
Two good people.
But the football gods aren't benefiting. We're not
benefiting from it at all. This is good
football. This is nice football. That's
leadership football. AJ, wouldn't you love that if that
happened to you in an open field? I mean, I would
have told him, hey man, you had every right to
annihilate me and my head was not on a swivel
at all. I had no clue you were even there. That's a
dream set up for Quentin Nelson.
But I understand what he did. He knows though, hey, if I put
this offense behind the chains, we are
completely screwed. Bingo. He might be going
for Sportsmanship Player of the Year though.
Could be. Because that is a thing and people
do look to try. Arthur Ashe,
Man of the year, right?
Walter Payton, I believe, but also the Arthur.
Espes.
Espes is Arthur Ashe. He might be going for it.
Oh, okay.
I don't know.
He could be going for it.
Could be going for everything, obviously.
What's the one in college?
Because I think Garrett Green just.
Garrett Green, the All-State good guys.
First team.
That's what I'm talking about.
I'm telling you.
Football gods should be blessing me.
The teams that I'm pulling for, good dudes.
Football gods don't like good guys.
This is not a good guy sport.
It's true.
That block, that crackback block,
it was basically Quentin Nelson with a little more force on the quarterback.
He just laid it on the ground, called back a pick six.
Maybe that's why he did that because he saw that happen in college
and he's like, I'm not letting that happen.
Yeah, exactly.
Even more so.
He's doing the right thing, and we're losing.
Why are we fair catching at four?
That's four-yard line.
I was delighted by that.
Yeah.
That was a great punt.
Whelan, who is a member of our big old punt segment, first ever.
Yep.
Irish lad.
He is an Irish lad.
McQuaid had eyes on him.
McQuaid knew.
McQuaid knew.
McQuaid had eyes. He had a great breakdownid knew. McQuaid knew. McQuaid had eyes.
He had a great breakdown of the Saints the other day. It's a massive. Did you see the segment
earlier? The big old punt segment in the fourth quarter?
Late in the fourth. There were some big old
punts taking place helping out teams
get wins. Cleveland Browns.
Corey Bohorquez hits one that goes out
at the one. I mean this is massive.
This was unbelievable.
Up three. This is a big deal, legitimately.
This is a massive punt here, and then safety takes place immediately afterwards.
Win the game.
Shout out to Corey Bohorkwith.
Yeah, and Corliss Waitman for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He had one late in the fourth quarter, too.
18 seconds.
Let's just get this thing off.
And instead, okay, let's pin him, actually.
Let's hit a bomb here towards the sideline.
He's not the starter.
He replaced Cam Johnson, who was the starter, who unfortunately got hurt. You had Waitman on the team, okay, let's pin him, actually. Let's hit a bomb here towards the sideline. He's not the starter. He replaced Cam Johnson, who was the starter, who unfortunately got hurt.
You had Waitman on the team, though, right?
I don't know if it was last year or two years ago.
Yeah, he spent some camp time, some time on the team before, yes.
I'm impressed by what he does with football.
He can swing it.
I've been very surprised that he hasn't caught on with the team.
Punting is a hard – if you don't have a job, it's a hard thing to get a job
because there's not a lot of spots.
Now, granted, there are some punters that'll have a run of like two to three weeks where they're bad. Then all of a sudden, okay, one of the 32 spots is open, but how many
punters are trying for that one spot that's opening? And if you, even if somebody has two
to three or four bad weeks in a row, it's like, how old are they? Have they played playoff football
before? Because they're okay to go through a little bit of a drought now
and then in the biggest moment not have somebody fucking, you know,
or drop a snap or do anything like that.
So it's hard to get into the league.
It is very difficult to get a job, especially if you don't get drafted.
Some spots open up that you take advantage of.
It feels like Waitman's doing that.
Yeah, he was awesome.
It wasn't just that one punt.
He was awesome all game.
And he's an athlete too, so it's nice.
Have you ever seen a swing like
Wayland's in Green Bay?
Like as far as... A little punch?
I don't think I've ever seen something like that.
I might be wrong, but I think in rugby
the torpedo punt thing
that they try to do, I think you've got to
flick it. I think he is...
That thing going 56 yards?
59? Yeah.
How the hell does he do that with – it's like a check swing.
Yeah, it is like a check swing.
And then he did it for the pooch as well.
I don't know if that's just like his swing.
Yeah, it is.
That's phenomenal because the follow-through is what everybody talks about.
I was never able to do the big follow-through because I couldn't touch my toes.
My hamstring wasn't flexible enough.
So I had to jump up through these things.
He's staying on the ground and not swinging
all the way through it and hitting nukes i have no the kid might have figured it out yeah this
kid might have oh he was maybe i'll make a little i've done for 30 years don't have to don't have
to blow out your knee yeah if you don't have to go all the way through hey whalen maybe we need
to learn something i don't think a lot of people are going to be able to do what he's doing
phenomenal stuff out of him yeah, big punt at the end.
Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, is a man who had a chance to celebrate his second-ever win as a New York Jet quarterback just a few days ago.
And look out, got another game happening on Thursday night.
The four-time NFL MVP, legendary quarterback for the New York Jets, Aaron Rodgers.
Yay!
How you doing, pal?
Hey, good.
Thanks for being flexible today.
No, thank you.
Thursday night football, short week.
We've talked about how in the past we've had to kind of dodge, duck, dip, dive,
and dodge our way through schedules.
How is this particular Tuesday?
Two days out and also two days removed from second big win as a Jets quarterback.
How do you feel?
How is it?
Yeah, people forget the first one.
I did, actually, when I sent you a text,
congrats on your first big fucking win.
And then I saw the press conference.
It was like, ooh, I kind of messed up.
Congrats on both wins.
This one, though, had to feel very, very good. How long did you celebrate,
and how quickly did you have to move on to Thursday night,
which is kind of a good thing this early
or a bad thing this early in the season?
Well, three games in 11 days is a lot.
But anytime you play on Thursday, you always know you got a little carrot at the end of
the week, which is the Friday, Saturday, Sunday off.
So it's like a mini bye.
So we're just, you know, grinding right now, trying to get to the Thursday, you know, have
a great performance, hopefully, and then get to have a nice little weekend off.
But no, it was great I mean I think uh you know it doesn't matter how you win in this league a win
is a win uh they're a real good defense in Tennessee and I think we're going to look back
on this one short week week two um on the road home opener for them and feel good about coming
away with the victory yeah it felt like what you guys were doing with that two-headed monster behind you is
an indicator of maybe what the offense could look like this year.
Can you talk about the 20-year difference between you and Allen, which was obviously
made note of when he threw it?
And then Brees Hall also being back fully to form.
What is it like to have those two backs with you?
Well, they're both studs.
You know, it is crazy.
You know, i heard about this
kid when he was at wisconsin he was 17 years old playing on the field and now he sits in front of
me in meetings he's 20 freaking years old and turned 21 until january so give him a lot of
credit he's a smart kid he's a tough kid i mean he's fast enough to get around guys he's big
enough to run over you uh and he's good in the pass game he had a couple catches as well i mean
the screen that's an easy one but you had a catch out on the left as well. That was nice. He's a talented kid.
Brees is, you know, he's a do-it-all guy. He can play all three downs. He can split out and tell
me to throw him a goal ball. You know, he's just, he's a stud. So really love having those guys.
Those guys are weapons for us. We just got to find a way to get our best 11 on the field. Sometimes
it's having both those guys out there. I love hearing the story of Brees of breeze hall telling you like hey if they got a backer on me i'm just
gonna run a go throw it to me and you just saying okay you got it and orlovsky was on in the last
hour and he said the fact that breeze hall as young as he is is as confident and comfortable
to say that to you is a big deal for the behind the scenes of your team huh we uh we feel pretty
tight over there especially this young into a season yeah i mean
i give him a lot of credit i think last year he was dealing with coming back from his uh his knee
injury and uh you know he's still obviously had a really good season for us but he's he's looked
like a different player this year and he's got a different comfort with the offense he's so smart
you know he's able to tell me things like uh like that hey you know i can run by this guy throw me
a goalball um and i don't have to question it because i hey you know i can run by this guy throw me a goalball
um and i don't have to question it because i know you know he knows what he's talking about so i
give him a lot of credit he's a smart smart guy he's a tough runner uh he had some tough yards
for us on on sunday and he's gonna be a big part of our offense the entire season god hey can you
talk us through that third and one completion the fourth quarter you had to uh garrett wilson
were you changing things line dano says you're changing things all third and one completion in the fourth quarter you had to Garrett Wilson? Were you changing things in the line?
Dano says you're changing things all along and that the route was awesome,
the unbelievable throw and catch with this whole play and what it meant to your team.
Yeah, I mean, they had just scored to tie it up, so we needed to put something together there.
That was kind of a backyard play.
At the last second, I noticed zero.
We were running down the clock.
It was zero coverage.
So I just made a little protection adjustment to make sure that I was going to have a little bit of time.
And it's just on Garrett to kind of figure out what X angle he was going.
It seemed to me that his X angle was a little bit flat.
So I just threw it up the field a little bit.
You know, that's an easy catch for him.
But for the mortals, that's not an easy play at all.
You know, he turns his head and makes the catch super fluid and easy.
That's what he does.
I mean, he can do it all.
But I love the call.
We were able to make a slight adjustment there, and it's just on, you know,
Garrett, hey, you've got to win.
Get open, and I'll try and put it in your spot.
But that was a big play.
And then the next big play in the drive was second and 16,
throwing kind of a 50-50 ball out there to Mike Williams.
It got us the first down there at the edge of the red zone
and allowed us to score.
Then our defense held up in the end.
How did it feel going through the entirety of the game,
having to make those big plays again in the fourth quarter?
You know, like obviously you're a competitor. You talk about, and this is one of the game, having to make those big plays again in the fourth quarter. You know, like, obviously you're a competitor.
You talk about, and this is one of those plays,
they were just talking about,
you've talked about your need to compete
and how much you love competition.
And that's why you love the NFL and you love football
and yada yada, like that whole thing.
Fourth quarter, gotta have it.
Like that third one, felt good to be back in the moment.
You know, I saw some fist bumps back from the kid.
But, like, did it feel good to be back out there?
Yeah, it felt great.
I mean, to play meaningful football, to feel healthy.
You know, I had a big, you know, two-and-a-half-yard scramble early in the game.
I felt like, you know, I was moving pretty good.
I got my average up to zero from minus one.
There we go.
Yards per carry, which is huge. But, uh, from minus one yards per yards per
carry, which is huge. But listen, I'm with the ball in my hands in the fourth quarter. You know,
that's, and that's why we, uh, we grew up dreaming about playing football. It's not,
uh, you know, just to be out there, uh, handing, handing the ball off is to be able to make
adjustments on the fly and, and be called upon to, to make a timely throws to win the game.
And, you know, I'm, I'm thankful for that.
You know, we had a, you know, it is an easy check,
but an easy check on the touchdown run to Braylon.
We blocked it up great.
I thought ABT and Morgan did a great job on the right side handling the run through.
And I think Conk was over there with a nice block,
Allen, nice block,
and Braylon just ran through an arm tackle and scored.
But those are the plays you want.
You want the ball in your hand in crunch time,
making the right decisions to win a football game.
So there's nothing like competition.
There's nothing like being out there in the moment,
being out there in the fire,
and having to play your best in the most important time.
Yeah, and I think the thing about you is you're not scared to hand the ball off,
though, like you will.
Like you've always been.
Big pre-Madonna, you know, hole, ego, this whole thing. Would hand
the ball off 40 times in a game if that means
you win. In that particular game, you go for
176 when you're in the game.
Let's move along. As opposed to needing
to get 250, 300 every time.
You will check into the right play every single
time, seemingly. That is Aaron
Rodgers football.
I'd love to throw for 400 yards every
game, but sometimes that's not the way we're playing.
That's not the way we're playing.
You know, it's about efficiency.
We just haven't had a lot of plays the first two weeks.
I think I played 39 plays the first week, and this last week, you know,
we were in the 50 range.
So we've got to do a little bit better starting the game out,
start a little faster to get more opportunities to throw the ball down the
field.
You know, receivers want the ball. They want to get their yards, get their numbers.
But at the end of the day, it's about taking care of the football, making the right decisions,
being good in the checks, and then being opportunistic. You know, there's times,
you know, like we saw in the game, big third down the fourth quarter, you got to make the right play.
That's winning football, taking care of the ball, being good on the checks, being efficient, and sometimes that's what the numbers are going to look like.
But at the end of the day, there's a little check in the win column.
That's the most important thing.
Yeah, let's win, baby.
Jets need that.
And I think Jets fans are all the way back.
You know, Michael Cole, who was dancing with a ledge,
and then you called him a legend.
Oh, man.
And then he texted.
Do you know he's texted everybody now?
And I quote, legend.
That is how he texted me immediately after the show.
And I quote, legend.
Thank you.
And then he'll send me a text.
Legend here.
I was wondering if you saw.
So that's what you've created with Michael Cole, but I think it's a good thing.
He deserves it.
That's great, man.
I love it.
I love it.
God, that's all Jets fans.
They feel it.
Hey, you got to go get it.
All right, let's talk about Thursday night.
AFC East matchup.
D-Butt's got a question for you.
Yes, sir.
You played with some great corners in your time.
Al Harris, C. Wood, Tremont Williams.
And now you've got Saul St. Reed over there now.
But Chris Gonzalez, one of my favorite young corners in the league right now.
How do you feel about him?
And how do you feel about top corners following, like, your wide receiver one?
Do you prefer that as a quarterback?
Or do you prefer, like, the old Belichichick double one send my best cover guy number two maybe you
kill him with number three with davante adams that one game like how do you feel about that
whole thing how do you feel about gonzo over there in new england yeah i think he's a great player i
got to uh he was in our rehab uh at the achilles factory in the off season wasn't rehabbing achilles
but uh but he was out there got to know him just a little bit. I think he's a,
he's a great kid. He's super, super talented. I mean, he is an elite player.
When a guy's going to follow, you know, we call it like star coverage.
The respect level for me goes up because especially when those guys not only
follow them on the outside,
but follow them on the inside because it's different playing,
playing a corner on the outside and but follow him on the inside. Because it's different playing corner on the outside and playing corner on the inside, playing the nickel position.
Because when you're in the nickel, you know, you get a lot of two-way go.
You got vertical, you got outbreak, you got inbreak, you got shallow cross, you got all the different route concepts.
That's why I always said Wood is the best corner I've ever seen.
Because he could be an elite dominant player outside and then go inside and be an elite dominant player.
And that's just, it's hard to do in the league.
There's not that many guys that are able to do it.
But I give those guys who do the start coverage a lot of credit,
a lot of respect.
And Christian's one of those guys, you know, who enjoys the challenge,
enjoys competition, and will go side to side.
It's also different playing right corner than playing left corner.
So a lot of respect to those guys.
Bill, his system, Coach Mayo, you know, played against him.
Now he's head coach of the league and obviously got those boys going.
They had a big win in week one against Cincinnati and then, you know, had a chance, just got beaten overtime in week two.
But division opponent, obviously early in the season, short week,
a lot of strain on the body, but really important game, especially when you look back at the standings late in week two. Division opponent, obviously early in the season, short week, a lot of strain on the body,
but a really important game, especially when you look
back at the standings late in the season.
Patriots fan Connor actually has a question about what you just mentioned there.
Yeah, Aaron, is it kind of surreal
going up against a team where the
head coach, Gerard Mayo, is someone you played
against? I know in 2010. Old ass!
Yeah, very old, of course, but I know in 2010
he had like 16 tackles against the
Packers. I'm not sure if you were Flummer playing.
And then in 2014, I believe he was on the team as well.
But is that something that's weird?
And then also, if you just want to kind of go into how you and the Jets plan on attacking the Patriots defense,
I'd love to hear that as well.
I know no one's listening.
Yeah.
Yeah, I don't know if I'm going to go into that part there, BC.
But it means i've been around
for a long time i earned these grays right here uh playing for a long time and be alive for a long
time uh coach mayo is not the only uh player i've uh you know who's coaching now that i played
against there's always i mean we had joint practices and you're seeing coaches on staffs
now that i played against the angelo hall uh you know i played against him in's always, I mean, we had joint practices and you're seeing coaches on staffs now that I played against D'Angelo Hall. You know, I played against him in college. You
know, now he's been coaching league for a little bit. Kevin O'Connell used to be a workout buddy
of mine. He's head coach in Minnesota. And there's, you know, down in Houston, D'Amico,
you know, played against him when he was playing. So there's probably, you know, four or five other ones that I haven't thought about.
But there's a lot of assistant coaches who are making their way up
who are guys that I played with or against.
So it's beautiful.
Al Harris, you know, has been in the league for a while coaching.
You know, Al was my teammate for a long time.
I played against him when he was in St. Louis,
which doesn't even have a football team anymore.
So that's the way the league goes.
You know, there's a lot of change, but thankfully one constant thing
that I'm still playing and still in the league.
The standard deaf clips from back in the day.
I mean, just...
It's a grainy film, very grainy.
Yeah, but somehow it was like 4K
with that bald guy with Creed.
Somehow, right?
Isn't that the highest quality clip?
Yeah, that clip was blessed by Creed
and the gods above. They want
everyone to see that forever. Every time it pops up
I think to myself, that's a really clear picture.
And then we watch some football highlights from that
time and it's like, we're watching
block players.
That's Creed difference, baby.
That's Creed. Boom.
He's coming.
When it's Creed, one of the greatest
fans of all time, obviously you Obviously you gotta make sure Scott has a
Has a real clear solo shot
Look at the good lighting too in the middle of that thing
I mean just phenomenal showman
Now this is the show
This is the guy
What's that guy doing now?
We gotta
Swing it
Still swinging
That's Chris Angel
That's Chris Angel
Don't you say that
Please
That is not Chris Angel.
He's never been bald.
That is an artiste.
All right, last question here from Ty for you, Aaron.
We thank you for your time here.
Yeah, Aaron, a couple years.
Hey, Ty, how you doing, man?
You feeling good about that big win?
Hey, relax.
Everybody needs to relax.
We're not talking about it.
Absolutely masterful.
Always knew Malik Willis had it in him.
I'm sure you did, too, just watching from afar.
But, yeah, what a win.
Unbelievable. Aaron, a couple years ago, you talked about how guys like Jordy and Devontae and James Jones
knew what you were going to do with the ball before you did it and
vice versa, developing that rapport and chemistry over a long period of time.
Obviously, you and Garrett already seemed at that point,
but how long does it take to develop rapport with these other guys
in terms of knowing where they want the ball
or how you want them to break out on routes?
And does that rapport develop quicker with game reps?
Or what is that process like right now just with it being your third game this week?
I think it takes time.
It takes a decent amount of time.
These guys have only been with me for two full games.
Some of them, Mike, this is his first time with us.
Alan's been with us for a long time,
so he knows him and I got a good rapport.
But it takes time.
It takes, I call them anchor reps,
where you can make an anchor point to lock in your memory.
A lot of these happen in
you know practice you know in training camps things have happened that we're gonna have to
remember when we're out there and the bullets are flying in live game action but it does take time
and and i think we're still working through some of that so i think you know we're uh you know
we're just going to keep getting better on offense as that chemistry continues to flow
and i thought there were times where you know we did a better job in a run game of some of our, you know,
reaching our angles and the backs trusting the blocks.
But, you know, there's still a lot of things to improve
in both the pass game and the run game.
A lot of it just takes reps, and it's those bank reps,
those anchor points that we can go back to that happen in practice
or happen in the game that we can uh
kind of hearken back to as the season goes on but um but it takes time um for everybody i would say
except for alan at this point because we play so much ball together well you guys still doing to
me at the top we still att yeah that's what it is it's not that's nothing else yes that's what it
is okay well i'm sure there's certainly some thoughts on it from your friends, potentially.
You know, there is some thoughts on it all.
I mean, that is a...
Oh, wait a minute.
I didn't even think about that.
Oh, at the top.
All right, good luck on Thursday.
We appreciate your time, brother.
You're the man.
Thanks, guys.
We'll do this a little bit longer.
We'll have some more fun.
We'll stir some shit up next week.
A lot of shit to stir,
especially after today.
It's okay. Watch out for any pagers,
ladies and gentlemen, Aaron Rodgers.
Yeah!
Alright, good chat with him.
Anytime he sneaks in the old Thursday night game.
Because they're putting Wednesday and Thursday
together today.
And then Friday, Saturday's tomorrow.
And then the game is on Thursday.
So, a lot of it.
They don't practice.
You know, we're not getting reps out here.
Walkthroughs.
You know, a lot of meeting stuff.
Recovery stuff.
You know, all that type of stuff.
But those short weeks, interesting.
You're normally going to get the most basic offenses.
Yep.
And the most basic defenses.
Normally.
Because there's not a lot to kind of game plan for. But with thisets team you know and Hackett and Aaron kind of knowing the offense inside and
out what should they be expecting especially with this Braylon Allen compliment he's like this kid's
genius yeah this kid's 20 years old I was watching when he was 17 in Wisconsin doing his thing it's
like I'm pumped to see this matchup I think this is going to be a great Thursday night AFC East slugfest.
Probably not ideal,
but also being able to put
to rest any questions
about the Achilles with playing 11 games
in three days to start the season.
I'm sure once they get through that, it's like,
okay, I'm good.
There's nothing wrong with this. I'm ready to go.
It's like Kirk got tackled last night
and people were on his legs.
It was early.
He did a middle run thing, and there was a tackle.
I saw that.
Yeah, third down.
I thought about that a lot.
As I was watching, I was like, ooh, this could be a time where he's worried about what happens.
Got up, and it felt like as the game went on, more comfortable.
Those things, you need them.
And I think Aaron said on the program, he said, you know, me running for one, that'll be good.
That'll be good for my mentals.
You know, me getting hit a couple times, that'll be good for the mentals
because obviously he's 40 years old, played a long time,
like a long, long time in the NFL.
But after that injury, even the most confident human beings need to be reminded.
You know, like still got it, also can still take it, and can still spin it. That's why I think
that win the other day is so big for Aaron, personally.
Gigantic, yeah. Imagine if they
lost that game, and then they're going into this short
week 0-2, saying, hey, we cannot start out 0-3
because we know Michael Cole
and all kinds of people are going to be absolutely
distraught if that would happen. There's him taking a
hit, didn't see it, spikes the ball.
Pissed. Not happy about it.
Hey, did you see me get upset about
um, yeah.
The ball spike, I guess.
I agree. He didn't do it at anybody,
but they call it delay game, correct?
Yeah, and it is in the
rule book, I guess, because old buddy hopped on and was like
it's in the rule. You gotta call it. It happens.
You gotta call it. So yeah, I get that, but he
was just juiced. He was juiced. He meant nothing
by it, I guess, but I guess I understand that.
The other one, though, on the sideline, is it because they thought he was shooting a gun?
He was shooting an imaginary gun?
Yeah, but who says it was a gun?
That's what I'm saying.
But that's what I'm saying.
It's not, though.
Couldn't they ask him, hey, what are you doing?
You know, I'm just.
I'm on a quiver, even.
Fireworks.
Maybe it's, yeah.
Maybe arrows. What if he's an artist?
What if it's something like he's doing to his family, like his little kids.
It's their little thing they do or something.
Yeah, whatever.
It's also not really taunting.
Flying a kite.
I'm flying a kite here.
If he would have put it in some guy's face...
Like we saw at LSU.
Exactly.
Yeah.
That's a different thing.
Sawed-off shotgun, definitely.
It's because the ramp is right behind him.
That was definitely a sawed-off shot right into
somebody's face we all saw yeah yeah as we were watching it we actually saw the gun go into hand
yep right in the face and we go okay that that's probably a penalty good acting job really a man
on the sideline with his teammates in the fourth quarter you know sending some none of the opponents
none of his opponents are anywhere near him either. They're going off their other side.
Sprinkler?
They're left for dead.
They had a minute left, and they took 40 seconds to go down and score.
They should have let him whip his dick out if he wanted to. I don't think he could be held.
That's what's wrong with you guys.
You always have to ruin it.
It's a big deal. It's what's wrong with you guys. You always have to ruin it. It's a big deal.
It's a great win.
Be an adult. But with that being said,
let's not take the emotion
out of the game. I agree.
They tried it once. I talked about it. They tried it
once when it was like, nobody's allowed to dance.
And that's when Key and Peele,
three thrusts.
You are too.
That.
Boom.
It had to do it. It became mockery.
And it didn't make the game as entertaining.
And it's like, people want
to see that their players care.
And it's like, good way to show you
care is that after something good happens,
you celebrate. You're happy about it.
You send fireworks out there.
Yeah. Gloveladders.
I kind of let one slide with CJGJ.
It's kind of like fourth down.
I mean, his helm was kind of coming off.
Oh, yeah.
And I'm always a big proponent of DBs getting as much face time as possible.
He made a phenomenal play.
Speaking of, CJGJ had a massive evening of CJGJ football.
And there's no more perfect city for CJGJ than Philadelphia.
Last night, Ray-Ray McLeod third is the most recent victim to fall to CJGJ
getting under skin and into brain and forcing you to punch him in the face.
Okay a lot of people say wow that must be an anomaly if you don't know CJGJ
football. It is not an anomaly. CJGJ is a master at getting people off their game. He's just
dancing, having a good time. Williams goes,
what? Three, four punches, you're
ejected. You're not going to be playing football tonight.
This is a part of the CJ GJ
football. I believe his teammates
absolutely love him. If he was on the Indianapolis
Colts, which I guess I don't
think that would ever happen, seemingly.
I don't know if that would ever happen, but if he was,
I would buy his jersey. I think you love to have him on your team but boy there's never been somebody
who's been more hated by other teams in the history of the nfl than cj gj i think yeah and
that is a compliment to what he does but i'm sure the other team gets so mad by whatever he's saying
i couldn't even fathom what he is yeah i've heard a lot of things that have been said by people
competing against each other in the nfl and it like hasn't warranted stopping and no i need to
punch this what is he saying well think of think of every opponent you're playing their first
meeting they have monday morning but hey do not do not give it do not let this guy get you all
riled up and get us a 15 yard like that's the first thing your coach is saying hey listen cj
gj is on their team. He is going to
try his absolute best to get you to punch him
in the face. Whatever you
do, and I can't stress this
enough, whatever you do, don't
punch him in the face. You're going to have
to resist every urge.
Don't punch
him in the face. Don't do it.
Don't look like
whims for the Chicago Bears.
And you're like, well, if he takes my mouthpiece and runs into his mouth,
I fucking have got to do what I have to.
That's what it is.
Now, they did not eject Ray-Ray McLeod last night,
but they did give a penalty.
But that's CJGJ football.
And it's still running wild over there in Vic Fangio's offense.
And I'm excited to see how it continues to go.
I'm excited to see how it continues to go. I'm excited to see how it continues to go.
He's a dog. He's a true talent.
We throw that around a lot.
Guys are dogs and there are a lot of dogs.
I mean, he is a fucking junkyard
dog. What a tackle.
What a play right there.
Are you kidding me?
That's how you fill a gap.
Fourth and one.
Fourth quarter.
His helmet's coming off already.
Let him know.
Sirianni sprinting behind him down the sideline.
Love to see a DB fill a gap.
Yeah.
Not a lot will do it.
That is not a business right now.
Yeah, not all DBs.
He's young, too.
Not all DBs.
You talk about his teammates loving it.
You go back to that Saints clip, you can see Janoris Jenkins just jumping.
Big lineman coming over, too.
Love it.
There's so many interesting characters in the NFL.
Every time you watch it, you see something new.
Best league on the planet. It is. It's the greatest league.
By far. By far.
Touchdowns done.
Still best. Yeah.
Even the defense. We spent yesterday
talking about what Crosby and Aiden
Hutchinson are doing.
That is still awesome to watch.
It's just a much different type of awesome.
AJ, I don't know if you hear, college football has got some more stuff cooking inside of it. There is a college NIL salary cap type thing that has been chatted about and presented
that could potentially be coming for college football and college athletics as a whole.
I believe there's a vote happening by a judge in Q1 of next year
that would potentially give each team, like people are saying,
$20 million to utilize for athletics.
And then I think there's like a percentage of that that will be utilized for football.
And then there will be other sports and yada, yada, yada.
They're trying to corral the entire NIL collective pay-for-play type situation.
Tennessee has actually started kind of getting a head start on all this stuff.
They are putting a 10% surcharge for a talent fee on all their tickets starting next season in 2025.
They will be upping the prices 10%,
and that money will be going directly to money for players in this entire thing,
which leads to a further question of, is this the thing that's going to settle all this shit?
I think there's a chance if there is a school salary cap that happens. And I think it's 22%
of the blended rates, average rate of TV money,
merch money, ticket revenue,
and all that thing
for all power conference,
all D1 schools.
So it's like an average of it all.
What is, and it's 22% of that.
And I think a lot of people
are projecting that it'll be 20 million,
even though there have been people
that have said 22 million.
And are they saying 22 million
because they heard 22%
and immediately thought it was 22 million?
Like, there's a lot of things still to be figured out,
but they're projecting a potential $20 million school-allowed cap for athletics.
It's like, does that fix everything?
If the school's handling it, then it's real contracts.
Then you know what, there's a real market for things.
And then the collective outside of that, the NIL stuff out of that,
if you're able to get deals and do all that,
you kind of do whatever the hell you want to do.
But when it comes to construction of rosters,
it's like if there is kind of a system on how it works,
it could be good for everybody.
Because right now it's kind of a fuck-ass.
But let's say you get a $20 million cap for all sports.
Ohio State has like 36 sports that they have to fund.
What other school might have 15?
Does the football get way more?
Does everybody have the same number?
So I think it's going to depend on the schools because I've talked about this.
How's that going to work?
Well, it's going to be voted by the schools, I think, on where the money goes to.
So there's going to be some schools that are going to be very much like,
yeah, we're going to put that behind the football.
We know the schools that are going to go all football.
But I think there is a max at a percentage.
I think it's like 70% or something like that.
I think there's a max because the way it's been laid out
is as if it won't happen.
But, like, there were some people from Michigan
I talked about.
They're like, they take very serious the Olympic sports.
Very, very serious the Olympic sports.
They take a lot of pride in the fact that they have a lot of Olympians.
I mean, Michael Phelps is there representing Michigan.
So that $20 million, the way it's going to be allocated,
could potentially be different at that particular school than somewhere else.
Like Ohio State.
What is Ohio State going to do with it?
A lot of great women's sports there.
A lot of great, I think you guys have.
Don't spread it around.
Believe me, I promise you they will not be all in to put it all towards football.
They will absolutely spread it around.
I'll be excited to see how that whole thing works.
Because then is the school,
is the football team
allowed to utilize then
like outside
money to...
But then you can't because then you're not getting rid of the outside money
doing the entire...
If you can do NIL on top of it,
then it
doesn't matter then it's still the same thing just more money involved yeah then it's just guaranteed
money coming from school happening and i think there's 105 scholarships everywhere so there's
no walk-ons i think every every roster spot is filled with a scholarship i think is the new thing
which is why people are scared they're going to lose walk-ons need walk-ons and then their answer
is like we're just giving scholarships to who would be the walk-ons.
It was like, well, there's still walk-ons somewhere, you know,
that need to deserve the opportunity to be able to show up at the front door,
say, hey, you all counted me out, even with more scholarships.
It's like, so I'll be excited to see.
It's a lot.
There's a lot.
There's a lot of questions, man.
It's a lot.
College football just needs to be its own thing.
Like we've had this discussion before too. Like it is separate from a lot of questions, man. It's a lot. College football just needs to be its own thing. We've had this discussion before, too.
It is separate from the rest of the college sports.
Obviously, they're still student athletes,
but when it comes to money, college football is its own category
when we're talking about college sports.
Even college basketball, massive for sure,
but a lot of people don't care until March Madness.
Not even close.
College football from week zero till the national championship,
people are living and dying with these teams.
And they do, at the end of the day, make
so much more money than all the other
college sports like the LSU.
When LSU went to the national
championship in 2019, there was
that stat where they laid out
how much revenue the college football team
provided to the school with all their
other sports. And it's not like the school with all their other sports.
And it's not like they were bad at the other sports.
It was just the college football, it's just bigger.
Yeah, you got 100,000 people.
Everything else is in the red.
You got 100,000 people buying tickets.
The TV deals are gigantic for football.
Yeah, March Madness, to your point about men's basketball and women's basketball,
I think it makes a lot of money.
I think the TV deal is pretty good.
But there's so many teams involved.
Way more D1 teams.
So, like, how does it go?
So, it'll get sorted.
But I think this school cap is the next step in trying to figure out all the chaos.
But with this brings more.
Yeah, because it's kind of just opening the door for people to pay certain guys
under the table
if they're over the cap.
And also, like, just by a sheer number, you just mentioned it,
like, there's 105 guys on a football team.
Like, they have to pay 5X more people than any of these other sports have to.
So, like, the majority of the money has to go to the football team.
I'm excited to see how it all works out.
The future's bright, though. We need to know that.
Ratings are saying that.
Sports are getting better.
Immensely popular right now.
Continuing to grow. Ratings going yadda yadda yadda.
Most watched
wasn't Chief Spangles.
The most watched week two
425 game on CBS ever.
Football is just like this. Everything else is
trying to figure it out whenever it comes to
linear ratings and live
streaming ratings and everything like that. Football
has it very much figured out.
And people are hanging around to watch the entirety
of it. Shout out to football, dude.
Shout out.
Football is a great sport. And as
we wrap up this glorious Tuesday,
I think it's time we get smarter.
Ladies and gentlemen, it's time we get smarter. Let's do it.
Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for Everything DB.
Good day, bad day.
Let's do it.
Let's get to it.
Speaking of football, let's get better.
Let's get smarter.
Let's start in.
Here we go.
React.
Boom.
Minnesota.
It's Brian Flores defense, not Brian Flores.
Flores?
Sometimes Flores, sometimes Flores.
Who says? What are you talking about?
B-Flo.
I call him B-Flo.
I play for him.
I call him B-Flo.
But he had a great job with his defense.
From the Narduzzi tree?
So far.
That B-Flo?
Against the San Francisco 49ers.
See the pre-snap where he looks like a single high coverage,
maybe cover three, maybe man.
You saw the article.
Post-snap, I did not see the article.
D-Butch, I'm sorry.
You're having to battle through what you're having to battle through right now.
Do you hear what he's saying over here?
Do you hear what he's saying?
They said Flores learned everything he knew from Narduzzi.
Saying his name wrong.
I mean, just everybody needs to relax, please.
B-Flow is a great defensive coordinator,
and he picks up something from everybody, like every good coach.
And he was around Narduz, so he picked a couple things up.
There's no reason for you to say Narduz birthed B-Flo.
No, I'm pissed about it because obviously it was Belichick,
and Belichick doesn't get any credit for any of the good coaches
that come from his tree.
He only gets the, oh, this guy, anytime you leave Belichick,
they fucking stink without him.
It's like, no, there are plenty that leave Belichick and are great coaches,
but he doesn't get any credit, and this is just another example.
There's fucking articles being written that Pat Narduzzi is the one that
basically told B-Flow how to fucking make his scheme.
It's asinine.
He's had a big comeback win the first two weeks.
Yes, he did.
And the third week.
Anyway, sorry about that.
And B-Flow is a Boston College eagle as well.
Fucking A-Many is.
Speaking of the Belichick tree, KOC over there in Minnesota,
and obviously B-floating the defense side of the ball.
See this pre-snap read, and watch these underneath defenders.
You'll see post-snap, they're going to go to cover two.
Watch these two defenders underneath, starting with Cashman.
He's that left highlighted guy.
He's going to just watch the pre-snap.
Skies, boom.
So now post-snap, we got cover two, two high shell,
and just watch these underneath defenders. Watch that right hash, boom. I mean post snap, we got cover two, two high shell. And just watch these underneath defenders.
Watch that right hash, boom.
I mean, that's a great, great break.
I know A.J. can appreciate that.
Great eyes, great balance.
Then you're going to see the tip.
You practice this all day long, D.
But you know that DB's linebackers, that's all you do, break on intentions.
You read the quarterback.
And when he, yeah, you break on intentions and cut underneath it.
This is something you work on all the time.
Hell, yeah.
The most basic, fundamental situation.
What did Purdy say about this defense?
Purdy said something.
That scheme is crazy.
Talk to B-Flow a little bit after the game.
Hey, that scheme is crazy, bro.
And you see it right here from the back copy.
You see it from Purdy's view.
Great drop, breaking on intentions,
and then I always talk about tips and
overthrows. You got to catch those, got to have them
when you get that opportunity in the game.
You set up Sam Darnold.
Great, great field position right here.
Cashman had 13 tackles, too. Cashman isn't.
He's Cash, man.
He's Cash, man.
All right, let's go to the Pittsburgh Steelers
here, shall we? I feel like I'm
picking on Bo Nix back-to-back weeks he's been on here.
But it's tough for rookie quarterbacks.
It's tough when the play call, the scheme doesn't necessarily help you as well.
And we got Corey Trice Jr. up there.
Talked to Tone before the show.
He said, you know, seventh-round pick, I believe.
Could have made the team last year.
Got hurt.
Yep.
Finding work right here.
Just finding work.
Once again, great zone eyes.
You'll see it even better from the next copy Bo Nix he's looking front side he's looking to his left pretty much the whole time
so he never sees Trice in the back side here we go boom so you got the crossing route coming from
the front side with Sutton his eyes great great eyes tight end you see the tight end he's lined
up across from that route back backside has to hold that DB.
Once he does it, you see T.J. Watt also getting out to that pill route.
Once those eyes don't hold you, now I can look back to the front side
and find work if I'm that backside corner.
Great job reading the quarterback's eyes.
Bo Nix never sees him.
I won't say he's out-fucking the receiver again, but he's staring him down.
He's a rookie.
He's a rookie. He's a rookie.
He's a rookie.
It's tough in this league.
I've seen a lot of Mack Knicks.
And we're still going with nicknames when it comes to the Colts head coach.
You've gone on Bo Jones?
Seen a lot of Bo Jones.
Y'all know Bo Jones.
Y'all know Bo Jones.
He'll figure it out.
He'll figure it out over there with Sean Payne.
He's still early in the season.
This is unfair.
I agree.
Hey, shit moves fast. It's a lot. This is unfair. I agree. Shit moves fast.
It's a lot different.
That's annoying.
That's annoying.
A lot different in the big leagues.
Speaking of the big leagues, next play, an absolute belt to ass,
whooping down here in Dallas.
See the old guy now.
Triple OG in the league now.
Tyrant Matthew, Honey Badger.
One robber, so you got man across the board.
And, I mean, this this is great so he passes up
the first crosser you see the number three receiver he's gonna run across and run past his
face keeps his eyes on deck and goes right into that second crosser great great elite ball skills
had him in lsu and has had it his entire time in the league 34 interceptions in the NFL. The most since he's been in, I believe, since 2013.
He knew exactly. Knew exactly.
Holy shit. It was one robber.
Man-to-man coverage everywhere else.
Everyone else is outside leverage.
You funnel receivers into me,
I'll have my eyes on the quarterback,
and I'll make this play right. I mean, he's gone right
now. And a lot of
young guys will take that first
crosser, because the first crosser is kind of –
Yeah, he's dropping them.
What made him drop them?
His eyes on Zach or what?
Yep, the same thing you talked about with Cashman, just intentions.
Eyes, understanding the concepts, knowing, okay, he probably –
hey, they like double crossers, double digs here.
Tyron has been around the league forever, super heady player.
I think he could be a defensive coordinator.
Right now he's that type of player when it comes to thinking through the game.
Just eyes on – and ball skills. you got to finish this play does it being
cd have anything to do with it too cd being over there obviously you're going to know where 88 is
you only have a uh a tight end here backside so you know where your threats are but once again
passing that first one up because if that throws it at first it might be a touchdown honestly
turpin too yeah he catches that and run that might be a touchdown he throws him upfield yeah nothing but space, he catches that and runs. That might be a touchdown. He throws him upfield.
Yeah, nothing but space and opportunity there.
But Tyron being the player that he is, keeping his eyes back there,
knowing where the corners are, expecting their help,
which is inside him being there and making that big-time play.
Great, great catch.
Speaking of great catches, we'll see this one more time.
Old buddy's headhunting fucking CD immediately afterwards.
I mean, it's just like, let me go ahead and get one, bang.
And Paulson, shout-out to Paulson Adibo. Great, he had a pick this game. Receiver fell. He tripped it's just like, let me go ahead and get one. Bang. And Paulson, shout out to Paulson Adibo.
Great.
He had a pick this game.
Receiver fell.
He tripped on a dig right, I believe.
It was a good ball from Dak, but the receiver fell.
He picked it off.
Alante Taylor stepped up and had a great game for the Saints as well,
with Marshawn Lattimore being out.
Zion McCollum over in Tampa Bay.
He had a big game.
Just shout out.
I can't obviously get all the plays on here.
And who else?
Jesse Bates, obviously, with a big pick to close it out last night but cam taylor brit i know they caught the
l and since he but this was probably the best interception that i've seen it made even better
he talked a little shit about exactly they asked him about xavier worthy going into the weeks yeah
he's fast he can run straight and this is him running fast and straight man-to-man coverage
leaning locate you look at that sideline no space for Mahomes to put this ball,
and for him to lean, locate, and then go up and catch this ball.
One of the best catches I've seen from a DB ever.
Boom.
These are one of these plays you see guys make great plays like this in practice,
maybe a walkthrough, maybe a warm-up.
You rarely see this in an actual game rep, especially from a DB.
Great, great job from Cam Taylor-Britt.
God, get on some offensive reps.
No kidding.
Now.
Let's get this guy.
He's a ball player.
Did they just lock down Kelsey, or what was going on?
You know, honestly, Kelsey was running a little open.
He had some plays where he was wide open.
But Rice, I think, is becoming the number one target.
Even the touchdown and the trick play they threw to alignment out to the right.
Kelsey was wide open in the back of the end zone as well.
But Kelsey will be there once again when the biggest games
and the biggest moments happen.
You know, Mahomes, I'm not going to doubt Mahomes, Kelsey, Reed,
anything they got going on over there.
But 87, he was, you know, running a little.
He had some plays.
He had some opportunities this game.
But this is, look, you get one-on-one backside with the guy that runs 4-2.
You want to take that shot as a receiver.
We all know the red line at this point that we see on practice fields.
You want to hold that line so you give room.
You want to hold it so you give that quarterback room to the outside
to throw the ball.
Cam Taylor-Britt being the vet that he is,
squeezing to that sideline and went up and made a great, great play.
And then we got one bad D-rep.
Now, Rasheed Shaheed, an absolute big play waiting to happen. Rip being the vet that he is, squeezing to that sideline and went up and made a great, great play. And then we got one bad D rep.
Now, Rasheed Shaheed, an absolute big play waiting to happen.
I believe he only follows Tyreek Hill the last couple years when it comes to big, explosive plays.
Had one in week one.
This is him in week two.
Cut, split. So when you cut that receiver split down, you get him away from that reroute that you're going to get in cover, too.
Because as a corner, you got to keep your leverage outside. So you're going to get in cover too because as a corner you got to keep your leverage outside so you're going to get a light maybe some light hands on but those
safeties when you see that cut split with a speedy guy like this you know he's not going to get
rerouted you got to get back you got to be deep as the deepest not only this front side safety down
here but even the back side safety being aware 22 who's an absolute rocket you look at that pocket
he steps up in it der Derek Carr drops an absolute seed.
Justin Jefferson had a play as well.
Big 97-yard touchdown post-ball.
He was lined up in the slot.
But this one right here, you got to be – he's a game wrecker at this point,
Rasheed Shaheed.
You got to know where 22 is on the field at all times.
Big, big shot right here.
Big play.
That was a Mike Wallace.
He's just like – he's just cruising there for a bit.
He's rolling.
He's rolling. But he just rolling He throttles down seemingly
And then he picks his speed back up
To go get the ball
And that's a ball
You look at where he catches this ball
From where Carr throws it
In stride, that is a hell of a ball
Climbed in the pocket too
Look at Derek in the pocket too
Avoid, climb up
He's playing this year
He's not looking at the rush
But he feels that big
300-pounder right there.
Look right now. Look at that picture right there
where he's throwing that thing. He knows.
He's got the safeties back.
He's on at 24.
26
would be 50.
56-yard ball, I guess.
He's on the 45.
Shaheed.
Hold on. About 20. Still got to go 25 yards. 56-yard ball, I guess. He's on the 45. In stride. Shahid. Hold it on about the 20.
Still got to go 25 yards.
56-yard ball.
It's a good ball.
It's a good ball.
Derek Carr playing good ball right now.
Prime Derek Carr.
Oh, yeah.
Prime Derek Carr right now on the defense.
I mean, defense top to bottom.
Bunch of Wiley vets starting with DeMario Davis.
Pete Warner.
Talked about Tyron Matthew.
Just great players up and down that roster.
So look out for the Saints this year.
But those are the plays from everything DB this week.
Shout out to NFL Plus Premium, NFL Pro.
It is an actual weapon to find things.
That was a cool video.
Cool video you guys put together.
Is that what you mentioned?
That was good.
I watched it during the commercial.
Yeah.
Hey, from your mouth to the world's eyes,
this is why you need NFL Plus's NFL Pro.
Great voiceover.
All right, here we are on the NFL Pro homepage.
Let's step into the film room.
Show you how quickly, how easily we can find any play from any week.
This is week two.
Find a play result.
Interceptions, of course.
One of the best interceptions i've seen ever not the one against tua let's go to cam taylor don't want to see that
it's patrick mahomes and the chief to pick which camera angle we want broadcast or sideline
i'm going to go with the broadcast view it's just a quick easy example of how quickly
you can use this nfl pro tool Awesome, awesome tool. I mean,
unbelievable interception.
Let's go, baby.
Shout out to NFL Pluses.
NFL Pro, it is worth it. We're going to try
to make a couple of those to showcase literally how
easy it is to use. It's too easy to use.
This is the future here.
Right at our fingertips. You know, there's like
stats analytics people.
You know, like, oh, they must be incredibly talented and shit like you know there's like stats analytics people you know like oh they must
be incredibly talented and shit like that it's like used to have to be able to like find it all
it's like this nfl plus premiums nfl pro is very user-friendly two user-friendly only this is one
of the once again one of those things where i think just like ai some people are about to get
a hold of some information that they've never been able to have before.
And some cooler talk is about to get.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Barbershops.
Oh, yeah.
All phases, too.
You can go and watch all the sacks, all the interceptions,
all the big plays, touchdowns, all the third downs.
Bruce goes home and just watches sacks all night.
Well, that's what I'm saying.
But not only that, but they'll give you the numbers.
Like, did you know he watches sacks all night? He's eating sacks. but not only that but they'll give you the numbers like did you know or he watches sacks all night he's eating sacks all night just yum yum so many
sacks from NFL Plus premiums NFL Pro Bruce but like also people talking uh who are natural
talkers for their football team or whatever it's like finding out how many sacks somebody had in
like second half you know last night this guy had four sacks in two and a half quarters.
You tell me this guy was targeted, all that shit.
They only targeted him three times.
Boy, this is fucking –
There's rush percentage decisions that are made.
Like there's so much information on there where I think it is going to trickle down
through all of sports world.
NFL Plus at the beginning we didn't think was that good.
And we told them that, as such.
Rolled it out too soon, maybe.
Yeah, we're like, you guys just thought,
you were going to be able to roll the ball in the field.
And you guys just thought you were going to be able to win or whatever.
Because they're like, you can listen to the radio version
of the preseason games out of market.
NFL Plus!
It's like, all right, I appreciate that option.
And I do like the local commentary,
but I don't know if that's enough to get me to do a whole nother song and
dance with a streaming service.
Now they've gotten to the point with the amount of shit out of market,
watching,
listening and all the film.
And it's like,
NFL plus is now worthy of being like,
yup.
Need to have for sure.
Shout to NFL plus.
Oh yeah.
Shout to NFL pro.
Shout to everything. DB. Good D bad D and shout to this ball. Go to that hoop right over sure. Shout out to NFL Plus. Hell yeah. Shout out to NFL Pro. Shout out to everything DB, good D, bad D.
And shout out to this ball.
Go to that hoop right over there.
Shout out.
30 people winning.
Wow.
Okay.
Oh, my.
Looks so good.
Good.
Look good, man.
All right, we'll see if it works tomorrow.
I will say me and Foxy lost yet again in a game of 33.
We lost.
Which is very abnormal for us.
Really?
Were you guys defending champs there?
Okay, yeah.
We lose one time.
We lose our championship title.
We're fighting champs.
So that was the championship yesterday?
Yeah, but you were the reigning champs.
Oh, okay.
So not that abnormal.
Very abnormal.
Not that abnormal.
Two straight here.
This is not a...
We got cold.
We got cold at the end.
We started off cold. Yeah, I was going to say
we can all make excuses.
I mean, we just lost.
Statement of fact. You guys had a
fantastic round there at the end, though.
I mean, I'll tell you what. Your guys' stamina
really showcased in that game of 33.
Well, yeah. We didn't warm up like your partner
did, but that's probably why. To be clear,
Evan Foggy meditates with a ball in his hand.
Yeah, exactly.
So what do you want from the guy?
That's what's going to happen.
Good win by you guys.
Your shoulders got – I think that skull kind of –
Legit.
That skull clap.
I felt the skull clap midway through that fourth round we had or whatever,
and it's like way too many NBA threes are being shot by these shoulders.
Sure.
It was a great game, though.
Great game.
It was.
That was our best game. That was a great game, period. Great game. It was. That was our best game.
That was a great game, period.
I was introduced to it in Thunderdome.
Great game.
Yeah, we might actually make it a thing.
Might actually make it a little league.
I love it.
Try to make some money for some people.
Because if you have a good three and you're good at tips, okay,
I don't think you have to be seven foot tall to be great at this game.
I think anybody could potentially be good at 33.
And that's why I think it's a good game.
Hell yeah.
Now, go ahead, Adrian.
We used to lower the hoop to like eight foot when we were kids and we'd play all night.
So dunk tips give you extra points.
Oh, yeah.
Dunk tips are good.
Did you play take back 21 or did you play 33, the shooting game?
We played the shooting game.
Two shooters, two tippers.
Yes.
Okay.
So I didn't know this game.
It was introduced to me.
We grew up on that, man.
Me and Nuge used to play in my driveway with my brothers.
Oh, it's awesome.
Okay.
So Midwest maybe plays it because Colts training camp is when I learned of game.
I think it was the equipment managers were playing it or whatever.
And I was like, this game's awesome.
Don't have to run.
And we're. Yeah, we played 21. Always play awesome. Don't have to run. And we're.
Yeah, we played 21.
Always play 21.
Yeah, we take back.
Always.
This is 33 games.
Good game.
Great game.
It's a good game.
And you guys are the champs.
Congratulations.
Thank you very much.
Good job, Connor.
On this noche.
You too.
You too.
On this noche.
What's that mean?
Noche?
Noche means night!
Well said.
I do like that noche notebook you guys got.
That was sweet.
That's sweet, dude.
Good notes.
Good Noche notes.
It's good size, too.
How much did you say notes?
Maybe when you guys are taking your Noche notes, you look back on how good life is.
It's a beautiful time to be alive.
I always do.
Very thankful to be here.
Very thankful to do this for a living.
Very thankful for football being all the way back. Hell yeah.
We got a big weekend coming up.
Game day's in Oklahoma.
Tennessee traveling to Oklahoma.
Love there, brother. First SEC game.
Luke Combs
going to be blaring, obviously, all week.
And Oklahoma legend
Blake Shelton's songs have already
been playing all through the Thunderdome in my life.
Plus they have that sweet new Toby Keith thing that they do every game now.
Yeah.
Well, yes, the Cup.
Yep.
Yeah.
It is – I think it's going to be a great time out there.
How hot is it going to be?
How hot?
It's going to be hot.
It's going to be hot, right?
It's going to be hot.
It's going to be hotter than South Carolina,
but I don't think – I think the heat wave that you might be thinking of might not be over there. Oh, no, it's going to be hot. Okay. It's going to be real than South Carolina, but I think the heat wave that you might be thinking of might not be over there.
Oh, no, it's going to be hot.
Okay, I was real hot.
What do you mean?
What do you mean by that reaction there?
It feels like that was like a...
What's real hot?
What would you say is hot?
Above 90.
Yep.
It's going to be hot.
What's the humidity at?
What's the dew point?
What's the dew point?
What's all the matter?
The humidity's not as bad.
Friday's supposed to be high at 99.
Yeah, that's fucking hot.
That's real fucking hot
Saturday's 95
Great okay I can't wait
I'm pumped to get out there
Central time
Also no J means night so you'll be alright
Okay you're right
But that doesn't mean anything
About our show in the afternoon
Which is when it's the hottest
And then game day
Is going to be thick I was going to say 8 to 11 thing about our show in the afternoon which is when it's the hottest and then game day is going
to be thick i see oh i was gonna say 8 to 11 it'll probably only be like 85 by the time the show
starts yeah you're right and the good thing about south carolina is boy those clouds just really
blessed that south carolina stadium and uh for game day it was it was you know kind of like
rainy overcast as soon as we got into that stadium with our backs facing what appeared to be,
I guess it would be east because the sun rises in the east.
So that thing was just fucking cooking right on our backs.
I felt the real South Carolina heat there for the last hour.
It was really nice.
Got to experience the crowd, too.
Crowd very loud.
I don't know how LSU gets in there and gets that big win.
Congrats to them.
Need Oklahoma to win against Tennessee even though
they are dogs by six and a half
at home I do believe here coming up this weekend
against Tennessee coming into town.
A couple girls with their boots on
got their blue tooths on. T-shirt
saying go Sooners.
Can't wait to get out there. Boomer.
Sooner.
Gonna be hot as fuck.

Ladies and gentlemen
Big time signing
Out of the Kansas City Chiefs
Isaiah Pacheco
Fractures his fibula
It was announced
Earlier this week
They just signed
Kareem Hunt
To their
Back to their team
Nice
Right?
Yeah
Great sign
Back to their team
Back to their team
Hell
Yeah
Why'd he put hell in
Why's he putting hell in here
In his tweet?
Reunion
The Chiefs are signing Their own former star in Kareem Hunt,
who visited with and worked out with the team today.
Sources say he'll start on the practice squad
and he'll fill the void left by Isaiah Pacheco's injury,
which will put him out potentially two months.
Samaji Pirine also up for the Kansas City Chiefs.
You remember him from the Cincinnati Bengals when Joe Mixon got hurt. He took over
kind of the running back thing and had super
stardom. Kareem Hunt has done a lot of great things
for the Kansas City Chiefs and also for
the Browns. Wasn't with the team. Now he's back with the Chiefs.
Andy Reid is going to always reload.
That's right.
Carson Steele.
Carson Steele. Good hair.
Hold on to that football, son.
I believe he's an Indy kid.
Yeah, he is an Indy kid.
Hold on to that football.
I picked Purdue to beat Notre Dame this past weekend.
Everybody's coming after me saying, what are you doing?
What are you doing?
It's like, that was rap poison, brother.
Yeah.
That was that.
Trying to fire up free well boys.
That was for the Notre Dame team.
You're welcome.
Yeah, that was nice of you.
How come nobody ever talks about that?
Oh, motivation.
It's like the same thing with Rutgers last year.
You motivated the hell out of those boys.
Yeah, Michigan.
I didn't pick them one time last year.
What'd they do?
Oh, I don't know.
Won a national title.
Okay, you're welcome.
Didn't hear a thanks once from the big blue folks up there.
That was certainly a city.
That place was very nice.
Holy fuck.
Ann Arbor is a beautiful place.
It's awesome.
So much money up there. Yeah. Billionaire row or some place. It's awesome. So much money up there.
Yeah.
Billionaire row or some shit like that, right?
I did not know that.
It's very nice.
Texas folks were line dancing in the middle of downtown.
Yeah, just pissing on them.
No, they weren't pissing on them.
After the game, definitely.
It was a good time up there.
And then Texas did beat the hell out of them.
They fucking killed that.
Which, once again, Oklahoma needs to win that game.
They need it.
Game day can't just continue.
I mean.
What it was.
I just hope that game day curses.
Come on.
It's a tall task.
Come on.
I picked the home team every single time.
I'll move for three.
Home team's been the worst team every single time, too.
Let's not.
Coach Corso's picked the visiting team every time.
It's 3-0.
Hot bat.
He's got a hot bat right now.
With that being said, I can be swayed
and I have been. I'll get dropped
into South Carolina. I'll be like, wow, this place is pretty cool.
This place is going to be pretty loud.
They've been pretty hospitable. Look how nice this place is.
Yeah, I think they can win.
Why not? I watch enough highlights
of each team.
I'm like, yeah.
Highlights are cool.
This crowd? They can win. They almost did. They should have. watching off highlights of each team. I'm like, yeah. Unbeliever. Highlights are cool. Unbeliever.
Should have won.
This crowd?
They can win.
They almost did.
Should have won.
They should have.
A&M, same thing.
A&M, same thing.
By the way, picked A&M over Florida strictly because Elko over Napier.
Turns out that backup quarterback might be their answer down text.
Yeah, he played really well.
He's out in Nashville.
He went to high school with the Herbstreet boys. Yes, he did.
Yeah, Kirk said that during the pick segment. He goes,
Wigman is a
game-time decision. Backup, what's
his name? Core. I forget
his name. The juke he had.
Whatever. I forget his name. We should
get his name, but Herbstreet said
like, might be good for
Texas A&M for this guy, actually, he said
went to high school with my boys in Nashville.
As he was saying, I was like,
okay, so I'll go.
Exactly. Marcel Reed.
Marcel Reed throwing deep balls to
Jake Herbstreet. Street talk.
No, it was the other Herbstreet.
Ty? No.
It was dumb? Yeah, it was street talk.
How old is this kid?
Oh, maybe you're right.
How old?
Not his freshman year. He was throwing deep balls at Jake Herbstreit. Ty Herbstreit
down the middle like Rasheed Shaheed.
Ty Herbstreit working for WWE.
Okay. Ooh. Wow.
Is he wrestling? I saw
him with Sheamus. Contenting.
It's contenting. And Jake
Herbstreit is underwater contenting for his dad.
Underwater?
There's a lot.
What is that?
There's a lot.
What's going on?
There's a lot.
Walk with Ben.
Oh.
Got to edit this.
Yeah.
Got to do this.
Got school still.
Yep.
Graduate, brother.
Jake, you're doing it.
Or Jake, you're doing great.
Keep going, Jake.
Way to go, Jake.
Proud of you, Jake.
Way to go. We love that Herbstreet family.. Keep going, Jake. Way to go, Jake. Proud of you, Jake. Way to go.
We love that Herbstree family.
They're the best boys.
They are the good boys.
They're just sweet boys.
Chase had a flu game on Friday night.
They won 31-6.
Damn.
He was sick.
Then he had a game winner two weeks ago.
That was like a dot.
I forget how many seconds left.
Out, though.
Basically, Kirk Cousins' throw last night to London.
But DB, much closer.
On.
Puts it right here.
To win the game.
I think it was like six seconds left or something like that.
That's sick.
Yeah, like the amount of times he's worked that.
And then whenever, hey, this is why you do it.
Throws the ball perfect.
That had to feel so good for Kirk.
Yeah.
I assume Kirk was going crazy. This is why you do it. Throws the ball perfect. That had to feel so good for Kirk. Yeah.
I assume Kirk was going crazy.
That fucking guy's flying from everywhere back to watch him play every Friday night.
And I'm like, you're a good dad.
You're a great dad.
And I did that with him a couple times, you know, to showcase support.
And then I was like, yeah, I'm going to stay here. Yeah, I'll read the newspaper.
I'm not adding three more hours of travel time.
You got to get the local flair on those Friday nights.
Bingo. I want to experience the city a little bit,
but I will say, going to those high school football games
in Ohio, it was cool.
They got Moeller this week, I think.
Moeller's the team, right?
They have been. Yeah, that goes back
and forth. They're always good, I feel like.
Yeah, but I guess this is a big one on Friday
because Kirby's already starting to like...
Come on, Chase. No, to me.
Oh.
Need you.
Need you.
No, no, no.
I'm like, Oklahoma?
That'd be a great place to go watch.
If you're in Norman, you got to feel it and you got to chase it while you're there.
Yeah, you definitely got to feel it.
That's the whole point of Oklahoma, baby.
But also, that's a fucking...
Yeah, that's...
That's a hike.
Oklahoma's over there.
Oh, yeah.
Might be worth it.
You know, it might be like 30 degrees cooler.
Oh, maybe I do hop on plane because it's so hot. It's kind of cool
down. Head back. What did you say?
99 on Friday? I'm going to be
standing right in the middle of it. And they got that
obviously maroon color. Oh, yeah.
Probably where I'm going to be. And everybody knows
when I'm sitting in those places and it's
real hot and I start blending in with the seats,
that's not good.
Alabama is starting to happen in South Carolina.
Definitely going to happen in Oklahoma. It's going to be
seat, seat, seat, seat, seat, my face, seat, seat.
Get an umbrella.
It's going to be 90 and 60.
Picnic umbrellas
that you put like a ball. You definitely need to sit
under something. I've been with me a long time.
I don't think it matters. What if you wear one of those
hats? One of those hats that is an
umbrella. We should just put you inside. No. Gotta feel it, brother. It's on me. Don't think it matters. What if you wear one of those hats? One of those hats that is an umbrella.
We should just put you inside.
No.
Got to feel it, brother.
That's on me.
Don't chase it.
If you can't feel it, you can't chase it.
It's an honor to be on those fields.
It's crazy to do the show from those fields.
It's crazy.
Sweet little.
Get a cowboy hat.
Yeah.
Fucking right.
Get a mister.
Get those misters you get at Walgreens.
Spray water in the fan. fan Oh you're talking about like
When I watched the Sphere this past weekend
And I had a fan and a mister
Yep
So I could really experience the Sphere
Like the Avatar ride
You're right I'll do that
The people have been really cool
The set up people
Doing the whole thing
Yeah
This is a big team
A lot of people
Really
I think it's
I don't know if they're working
Specifically on mine
Or also on game day
because they're building game day set as well at the same time.
So I feel bad with how many people are there,
especially with how I'm just yelling in a stadium.
I don't know how many people can hear the show.
We'll find out because this one's a night game.
Oh, yeah, you're right because I won't have to build the game day set
because we're not moving inside, which means we're going to be outside
the whole time, which means pick segment with people behind us.
Love those.
Yeah, that's better. Love those. Get the shoot off. No, you can't because you're going to be outside the whole time, which means pick segment with people behind us. Love those. Yeah, that's better.
Love those. Get the shoot off.
No, you can't because you're going to... Fireworks.
Fireworks. You could shoot them off.
You should bring some cap guns.
Couple girls with their boots on,
got their blue T-shirts saying, go Sears.
All right. Be a friend, tell a friend something nice.
It might change their life. We're in this thing together.
Team on me. Team on three. One, two, three.
Team. Goodbye.
