Hello, beautiful people, and welcome to our Humble Abode, the Thunderdome.
On this Aaron Rodgers Wednesday, October 9th, 2024, this program starts now.
Football!
It's amazing. Football dominates the topic of conversation in this particular show on a regular basis,
but today, more so than any.
In about 15 minutes or so, we'll be joined by Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers is obviously the four-time NFL's MVP,
the former Super Bowl champion,
the current quarterback for the New York Jets,
who just so happened to have fired their coach yesterday
at 10.08 a.m. via an Adam Schefter tweet,
is how we found out.
Sala learned of his fate via a Woody Johnson conversation.
If you read the tea leaves that have been brewing on the internet since this tweet was put out.
There's been so many different dynamics that have been reported by multiple people.
We have sources inside the building and around the building.
Robert Sala allegedly going on vacation now.
Will not be back coaching in the 2024 season.
Even though everybody seemingly wants him to be the Niners defense coordinator.
And I think Colts fans want him to be the Colts defense coordinator.
And I don't know if that's going to take place at all,
but I do know he's going to have a job back in the NFL whenever he wants it.
And that's because Robert Sala, whenever he got hired as the head coach
for the New York Jets, was a guy everybody was in love with.
He had energy. He had it all.
We're flexing. We're going crazy.
We're celebrating with the boys. We're chest bumping.
We're doing it all.
And then we become the head coach of the New York Jets and we lost it.
Seemingly lost his happiness, lost his joy. Then he has Aaron Rodgers come over and be his quarterback. It lasts four plays. And here they are five weeks into the season after losing in
London, sitting at two and three with a lot of season left. And he gets fired out of nowhere
on a Tuesday morning. Since the firing, obviously, there's been a lot of different reports,
like allegedly Robert Sala was going to fire Nathaniel Hackett
as the offensive coordinator.
And then a lot of people on the Internet immediately started saying,
well, as soon as Aaron heard about that, he called Woody Johnson
and said, Hackett's fired?
I don't think so.
I think you fire Bob Sala instead
Everybody has run with that theory
Everybody has run with that narrative
Everybody has cited that that is how things go
I'm excited to see what is said
In about 13 minutes from the man
That everybody on the internet, not everybody
A majority of people on the internet assume
Was the one that did the firing after 5 weeks
Of football. A guy that's been in the NFL
For like 20 years has had 3 head coaches okay that's it three three head coaches wow didn't know that
if you read the internet yesterday obviously he's got a coach three head coaches 20 years throughout
this entire thing when has it ever worked for any team to go win a super bowl which is obviously
what aaron rogers is in this thing to continue to do with the New York Jets.
When has it ever worked when you fire a coach?
Five weeks?
I don't know.
It doesn't make sense that Aaron would want to fire the head coach
at this standpoint with the history of football, what they're trying to do,
and what does it do good for the team in the coming weeks
or for the rest of the season.
I'll be excited to hear what Aaron has to say, though.
Everybody's had their chance to have their theories and their thoughts.
He'll tell us in about 12, 13 minutes. I assume Coach
Sala will get his side out eventually.
I assume there's another side that's going to come out from it.
Maybe the Jets. This is a
massive happening around sports media.
Hopefully we learn a little bit more today.
Adam Schefter will join us afterwards.
I'll be excited to hear what Adam Schefter knows, maybe from
a different side, different standpoint, maybe the history
of things and how it's got to this point yesterday.
Did this come out of nowhere, or was this potentially building up
into a moment where they lose in England, where Woody Johnson, the owner,
former ambassador of the United Kingdom, has lads with him over there?
Wait till you see my team come over here.
We've done business, we've done this, and then they lose,
and then he's flying back.
Was that the cherry on top?
Was there other reasons inside of it?
I'm excited to hear what Schefter's opinion is on it.
And then we'll have J.J. Watt join us.
And J.J. is going to be an electrified conversation about this
and everything else happening around the NFL.
Obviously, the NHL dropped puck last night.
Huge celebration in Utah to cap off a three-game launch
into a fantastic NHL season.
You can already sense the buzz around the NHL is very real.
Last night, that was certainly the case.
You got baseball happening still.
The NBA is taking place.
Shams Sharania makes his debut as the senior NBA insider for ESPN tomorrow
on basically every single studio show.
It is a wonderful time to be alive.
We can't thank you enough for allowing us to do this for a living.
That's nine-year NFL vet Darius J. Butler.
One half of the Hammer.
Dive.
Cowboys.
AP Tone is here.
Then the toxic table is here.
Sitting in for Ty Schmidt is 12-year NFL vet Jackie Moon of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Player coach, Super Bowl champ A.Q. Shipley.
And Boston Connor.
Connor, obviously the AFC East has been dominating the conversation in the news cycle.
Oh, yeah. You know, Miami Dolphins, too, when he comes back, if he wants to play football, obviously the AFC East has been dominating the conversation in the news cycle.
Oh, yeah.
You know, Miami Dolphins, Tua, when he comes back,
if he wants to play football, obviously everybody disagrees,
potentially, with what Tua wants to do.
That has a microphone in front of their face.
He should never play football again, but maybe he wants to play football again.
True.
Oh, we will find out if that's the case.
That's Conville.
And, you know, Buffalo Bills, what's going on?
Good Lord.
Josh Allen was definitely concussed. No doubt about it. Definitely concussed.
He goes back in there. He plays football bad. Are the Buffalo Bills done?
They haven't really beat any good teams. Oh my God.
What are the Buffalo Bills? Is that window still
open? That's a conversation that's happening. New York
Jets, they just fired their head coach.
Fired their head coach. Five games.
Trying to win the Super Bowl. That's the entire head coach
gone. See you later. And then in the
New England Patriots organization,
it is the dawning of a new day.
Drake May, officially named starter.
Connor.
Hell yeah.
Congratulations, pal.
I know you're jacked up about it.
Yeah, very pumped up.
I know Monday I said, look, this season's over.
Looking forward to the draft.
And lo and behold, that was not true.
That was an overreaction.
We are not looking forward to the draft.
The season starts on Sunday against the Texans.
This is incredible news.
This will be the first time the Patriots are going back-to-back weeks
with the same starting 5-0 line.
Yeah, that's how bad it's been up front, but they didn't play terribly.
I know AQ also kind of echoed those sentiments.
There were a few spots on the offensive line that are questionable.
Missing starting center for the last 10 years,
Super Bowl champion David Andrews is going to be huge.
That really stinks.
But Drake May going in, I couldn't be more pumped.
I don't have high, high expectations in this game.
Expectations overall, Hall of Famer, MVP, Super Bowls,
all those things very much on the table.
But just looking for Sunday, look, I need like a a 10 yard run for a first down okay
need one of those him high stepping maybe a little bit showing that speed that he has that he showed
in pre-seasons i need like a third and 10 dart across the middle maybe even a sideline dart for
a first down to pop douglas or kendrick bourne that would be fantastic to see and then of course
i need an on thethe-run 60-
to 70-yard bomb. I don't care
if it gets caught. I don't give a shit. This is all happening
against the Texans? I just need one
of each of these individual
plays. This is
four quarters, one game, overtime if
needed. Bingo. Maybe overtime.
I expect us to be up 10-15
points in the fourth quarter. But again,
just throughout the game, that's all we're really looking for.
Coach Mayo talked about it kind of earlier today at a press conference.
He said, like, hey, this is my decision.
He actually got a follow-up there.
Like, you say this is just your decision.
Did you talk to any of the offensive coaches?
Like, hey, are we sure this guy's good to go?
He said he talked to Alex Van Pelt, the offensive coordinator.
He actually mentioned how at the end of preseason, know when the conversation was so loud how are you going to
wheel out jacoby brissett when drake may clearly won the job here anybody watching the games could
tell drake may was better and he said like hey that progression has continued like he has continued
to get better someone also asked did the plan that we've been referencing here with drake may
did this get expedited they they pushed this up because of the play and because they were 1-4?
He said no.
So it does seem as though the plan is still on.
Everything that they were talking about doing.
When we get back-to-back weeks of the same offensive line,
we'll put Drake in.
We're going to throw him out there.
What if Coach Mayo did say that?
I'm not putting him out there until we at least have two weeks of continuity.
That's it.
That would be an interesting conversation behind the scenes now you're saying the expectation is or all you
want from them is just we need five highlights against this houston texans uh defense rookie
quarterbacks seemingly d-butt and uh we saw this graphic uh on the internet it's um might take a
little bit might take a couple weeks kind of learn learn it. Now, James Daniels, different story.
Obviously, he came out of the gate playing fantastic football.
But it seems like these rookie quarterbacks that were drafted high,
all of a sudden, maybe starting to find their way.
Is it more the team?
Is it more the player?
What are your thoughts on that?
Some of it is definitely bad opponents.
But some of it is definitely building that continuity with the play callers,
with the players around them.
I know in Caleb Williams' situation, Swift in that run game has gotten going a little
bit more.
He's been a weapon out of the backfield as a receiver as well.
And we're seeing Caleb make those plays that we expected him to make on this level, the
things that he was doing at USC, breaking the pocket, making big time throws.
They won a couple games.
Jayden Daniels, we know how unbelievable he's been pretty much from the start.
He should be right at the top of the MVP conversation.
His offensive line, his run game is also helping him,
and also his weapons on the outside.
Bo Nix, offensively still not looking great,
but he's taking care of the football.
And on the other side of the football, defense is flying around.
One of the best defenses in the league right now, so he's doing his job.
I think they will continue to get better as well with Sean Payton.
And then we have Drake May.
You know, he's coming in, and we can expect him. I expect him at least to struggle better as well with Sean Payton. And then we have Drake May. He's coming in and we can expect him.
I expect him at least to struggle early.
Kind of get his footing. Figure things
out. Not a great offensive line. We saw
Jacoby Brissett running for his life. Hopefully
the weapons get going. Young weapons out there.
Pope. Javon Baker. Once he gets in there doing
some things. Pop Douglas. So there are potential
weapons. And Drake May is dynamic.
Coming into the draft, he was probably the biggest
I would say wild card.
When did you say Drake May should should get drafted uh one overall but i was he also said the browns were gonna win the super bowl i didn't say i was leaning i said jerry judy
moved the needle for me but you know offseason takes it's not it's not you're right right
hey i still love i'm still very very high on drake may he has cute. You're right, you're right. For a draft take, so. We haven't seen him play yet.
Hey, I still love him.
I'm still very, very high on Drake May.
He has all the intangibles.
If you're building a quarterback, you know, on Madden,
he's kind of like that Justin Herbert mold.
He's big, has a strong arm, athletic.
So that's the thing with all these quarterbacks.
You know, Bo Nix, Jaden Daniels, Caleb Williams,
they all have athleticism.
So if things break down, they can break a pocket,
make a play with their legs or their arms.
So I definitely have high expectations for Drake May.
The speed.
I feel like Jacoby, you know, did what he could do,
what was given to him.
And the reason you drafted guy number three overall
is kind of to bring everybody up.
So hopefully we get that from Drake May.
May not start week one, but maybe week four to six,
we'll see probably that growth in him and his offense.
That's what I'm saying.
With the stat that we showed there, I think you,
Drake May, it might take a few weeks here.
It might take the rest of the season.
Who knows?
Because the conversation about Drake May was he needs to sit out a year.
He needs to learn how to play football.
He needs to get his fundamentals better.
He needs to get his feet set.
He needs to get his eyes right.
Too often he was the most athletic person on the field
and he was just doing his thing in North Carolina.
That's what people – not us.
I'm just telling you that is what people said at North Carolina.
He led North Carolina in rushing and passing
one season. I mean, you're talking freak
show athlete. Comes from a family
of freak athletes. We are worried.
Yeah, very much so.
We are a little bit worried with Drake's
big first start here for the
New England Patriots. Will his uncle
make it to kickoff?
He's maybe... We don't know much about him.
I've only seen him in a lobby of a hotel before the draft.
D-Butt saw him on a golf course for an entire day.
Guy has a good time.
He's going to win the tailgate.
May family's going to win the tailgate.
It's going to come from said uncle.
Does he make it to kickoff?
And if he does, how pumped is that family for their boy?
I mean, that's a tight family.
I'm very pumped for all of them.
And I'm excited for Patriots fans to have a little bit of hope.
Yeah, absolutely.
That's what's so exciting now is because it really was doom and gloom on Monday.
That was not done with the season, but basically done.
And now it's a whole new era beginning on Sunday.
Hey, Kush, what do you think is the hardest thing for those rookie quarterbacks?
Why do you think Weeks 1 and 2, they're in a bad spot?
Just because of speed, everything? What do you think?
No, there's so much more on their plate from protections,
from the week, from the process,
from the game plan, from everything.
That's why I wish he would have had
David Andrews. David Andrews, their long-time
great center, goes out last week.
Nick Leverett moves in. Nick's a vet. Nick was down
in Tampa Bay my last year playing.
He's been in the league a little bit, learned learned got to see Tom Brady a little bit so now all of that is going
to be on him you would think right like you don't you want to take a little bit off of a rookie
quarterback from a protection standpoint from flipping the protection from fixing protections
from all that stuff and just kind of let them play ball when you have David Andrews you can do that
yeah David Andrews obviously around long time uh bummed out we're not going to see him.
Very excited for Drake May. And I think Coach Mayo probably is excited what the future is going to look like
over there as well.
Future down in the Saints is obviously something.
Derek Carr has been ruled out, basically, with an oblique injury.
And they're saying Spencer Rattler is probably going to be the starter down there.
Spencer Rattler is a guy whose college story is infamous.
And he became a great leader, I think, down in South Carolina,
great player down in South Carolina.
He gets an opportunity now with his New Orleans Saints team
to do their thing.
He wasn't the quarterback that came at the end of the game.
No, that was Hayner.
No, I was playing Hayner.
Hey, Hayner can spin it now.
When I saw Rattler's name on the graphic, I'm like,
okay, I like Spencer Rattler.
This is his moment. Spencer Rattler's name on the graphic, I'm like, okay, I like Spencer Rattler. This is his moment.
Spencer Rattler has been through a lot of moments. He'll be able to handle this.
Excited to see how the rookie does or whatever.
Hanger.
Hanger. He put that in the bucket to
Olave. The Olave
one, obviously. Dart.
We're talking side run,
submarine,
Kamara just right behind him.
If that thing goes right in front of him, we go, oh, shit.
You know, we really go crazy for it.
But just the moxie to be like, you know what?
Fuck yeah.
I'm doing this thing sideways.
Had that sweet head shot too.
And the modeling he was doing.
I thought that guy was potential.
That was him?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Different number. I thought he was 14. So he must have switched his name That was him? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Different number.
I thought he was 14.
So he must have switched.
Okay, wow.
Yeah, second year.
Or something.
Get him in.
Or second year.
I don't know what's going on, Don.
That's front man personality trait.
That guy.
Yeah.
That guy's ready to be franchised.
Blake Grupe having a great year down there for the New Orleans Saints.
Happy to see that.
Team seems to be together.
Derek Carr going to be out.
That's no fun. Derek Carr
doesn't enjoy that. Hopefully he gets back healthy.
Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, is the all-time
leading tackler for the Green Bay Packers.
College football national champion, Super Bowl champion,
Ryder Cup winner, A.J. Hawk.
A.J., as we
await the conversation with
Aaron Rodgers about him
firing his head
coach. Once again, very serious situation.
Okay?
Family got fired.
They're going to have to move.
A lot of kids.
It's part of the gig.
Definitely sucks.
Anytime you're firing somebody, it's a massive move.
But just the automatic response of people on the Internet,
not all people, but all going, this is Aaron doing it, is wild.
So that's why I'm excited for Aaron to come on here and chit-chat and be like,
you know, maybe he does say, yeah, I thought the time was now to fire the head coach.
Maybe that is.
You think that's what he's going to do?
You think he's going to come on here and say, oh, it's about time I walked into,
you know, Woody's office and said, hey, get this dude out of here?
You think that's what's happening?
Well, that's what I'm saying.
Like, logistically, how's it all go?
You know, like, so they, I believe what warren sharp put out there and warren sharp does
a lot of football coverage nfl coverage a lot of people follow him he has a created it massive
platform he does have a book about football a lot of people think he acts like he created football
but he is a great addition to football i think personally he puts out a lot of shit we appreciate
him but he put out a tweet that was basically like it's evident with what's happening and what
we're hearing,
that Aaron called on the phone to Woody,
a red phone or something like that,
to Woody Johnson and said,
you got to fire this guy because he's going to fire Hackett.
It's like, Warren, I know you know a lot about football,
but that would be a wild in an NFL building move.
And then what's the ripple effects after that?
Because Coach Sala hired all those coaches.
Yeah.
So, you know, and all those players.
Like, I don't, that would be a wild thing to happen in reality,
but I guess in movies and in theory on the internet could be a good idea.
So that's why I'm so thankful that he's coming on
because that narrative got real loud real quick, AJ.
Wow.
I mean, so he – I didn't know Warren.
I see most all of what Warren puts out.
I didn't know he was actually – was he saying he has sources in that
or is that just kind of his opinion?
He said it's becoming more and more evident with the
more information that we're learning that this is what went down and it's like that's a pretty
big statement just uh to say with how big of his platform is too you know we get caught up in that
shit listen we say dumb things we have a big platform feel terrible about it would like to
get better going forward with that being said just assuming and then just, I don't want to say,
fanning a flame that is currently happening with a position being like,
this is definitely what it's like.
Let's not forget, he created the hip drop tackle.
He also made the game better, by the way.
I would like to say I do follow along.
Micah Parsons' first game, he said he was going to be terrible
because he was lost in the sauce, even though he came up, read the run,
flipped his hips.
Okay, all right. So Tone is not the run, flipped his hips. Okay, alright.
So Tone is not the biggest fan, but I will say I am. Speaking of being
a fan of, I am a fan of people that are
great at their profession because it means that
a lot of work has gone into it, a lot of passion, a lot of
dedication, and we're
so incredibly lucky that once a week
for the last five seasons, we had a chance to
chat with this man. Joining us now,
quarterback for the New York Jets,
four-time NFL MVP, Super Bowl champion, Aaron Rodgers.
Aaron!
How are you, man?
Good afternoon, boys.
I'm very thankful that you wore the wired headphones
for this particular conversation,
so there's no chance of breaking the Bluetooth connection.
I see you wear them into every single stadium that you walk into.
Your old school still are.
I appreciate that.
You got to protect the brain.
Oh, see, I didn't even think about that.
Because the radio.
Electromagnetic.
They're all just going in there.
All right, anyways, let's not talk about the wired headphones,
even though those are artifacts at this standpoint of life.
Let's talk about the massive news.
Are they really?
I feel like they're coming back.
I see like three're coming back.
I see like three or four guys in the squad that got them. So there's a small, really tight-knit group on the team that has them.
You're an influencer, bro.
It seems like.
Smart guy.
Yeah, everybody's worried about the brain.
It's a good idea.
Put the Guardian cap on.
Go back to the wired headphones.
Let's make sure we're keeping his brain as safe as possible.
Okay.
Here we go.
This is a big deal, Aaron.
I just kind of laid it all out. The narrative that
has been built quickly, and I think this is what
happens with your life for everything you
do. There's a narrative that is built, and
then you either decided for a long
time to kill them with indifference and not answer
a narrative, or whenever you came
on our program and started doing as
such and started opening up more to
everybody, it was like you started kind of nipping things
in the bud that had been growing for a long time.
Right now, the narrative that's growing around you
is that you got Coach Sala fired
because you hate Coach Sala.
You didn't give him a hug, okay?
You went to Egypt and you hate the guy.
Now, I would love to offer you the floor
to kind of explain how yesterday went down,
your thoughts on it all, and how you think we got to this point that we're at with the New York Jets organization in 2024.
Yeah, I mean, yesterday was a day that reminds you of the simple fact that all of us who played know all too well, and that's that it's a tough business.
It's a beautiful profession. It's incredible. It's done so much for our lives, but it's also a really tough business.
I love Coach Sala.
We have a very solid relationship.
We have since, you know, I met him in 2021 and had a nice conversation when they came and visited us for joint practices.
He was a big reason why I came
to the Jets. You know, I felt like the team, you know, was a solid team, had a relationship with
Coach Hackett, obviously. And I really liked Coach Sala. Everything that Matt LaFleur said about him,
the few interactions I've had, the times that we went against him, I just had a lot of respect for
him. And so, you know, it was just a reminder yesterday how tough the business is.
I think what people can forget in this is not only is Robert a fantastic human being
and a damn good football coach, he's also a family man.
He's got seven kids.
He's got an incredible wife.
And the business of football can be hard, not just on
those of us who are playing and coaching and doing personnel things and ownership, obviously,
but it's tough on the families. And I've got to know Robert's family over the last couple of years,
and especially one of his kids, Adam. Adam's my little throwing buddy from training camp.
Love Adam. He's an incredible, incredible kid.
And, you know, so I'm thinking there's obviously a lot of emotions.
But you think about the family and the kids as much as, you know, the people you love, your own family, who is the coaching staff and the players and what they're all going through. So, you know, anybody who's kind of championing this decision,
I would just appeal to the humanity of the situation and remind you there's other people involved.
And Adam has to go to school today, you know, possibly, or this week.
And hopefully there's no, you know, kids with poor parents who are making
side comments to him.
It's just a reminder there's a lot of things involved in this.
As far as any of the ridiculous allegations out there, I'm not going to spend more than
one sentence in response to it, and that is that I resent any of those accusations because they're
patently false. And it's interesting the amount of power that people think that I have,
which I don't. But I love Robert. And it was one of those days yesterday.
So yesterday, thank you for saying all that.
And obviously they'll take something you said there and chop it up and then say, you know,
that's the world we're in, journalistic standards.
I don't care.
Respect.
Yesterday, there was a lot of things that came out,
little tidbits from insiders.
One of them was that, you know,
Coach Sala was blindsided by it
and everybody in the building was.
Is that an accurate depiction of how it all went down?
Because then there was a report that you talked to the owner
on Monday, you see.
So you talked to the owner on Monday,
then, you know, firing happens on Tuesday
and that's why they started linking those things.
How many of the reports have you heard about?
And yesterday, was everybody in the building blindsided by this decision?
Week five, firing a head coach is a wild decision.
I think everybody, but does everybody feel that way in the building?
Yeah, I did talk to Woody.
Woody called me on Monday night.
We had a short conversation.
I appreciated the call.
It was a genuine call, and he just asked me how I was doing.
Obviously, I got rolled up on the call. It was a genuine call, and he just asked me how I was doing. Obviously, I got rolled up on in the game, and my ankle got pretty banged up.
So he just called and was asking how I was doing.
And we talked about the game and how disappointed I was in my performance
and that I'm going to play better and we're going to get this thing turned around.
And then we hung up.
To that point, you know, Woody has no obligation to let me know of what his plans are.
Whether or not he knew what he was doing in that moment is inconsequential.
I just appreciated the call that he was checking on me.
It was just like a friend call.
Like he would do, hey, man, I saw that hit in the game.
You doing okay?
And we had a nice short five-minute conversation,
and then that was that.
Okay, so everybody blindsided Tuesday by this decision, seemingly then.
Well, I was in the training room doing rehab,
and it's one of those things like in a John Wick movie.
It's the best way to equate it where john wick
becomes excommunicado and then everybody at the continental's phone starts vibrating
yeah it was it was it was kind of like that just through the building
holy shit holy shit holy shit a lot of that type of reaction
i mean there was you know there was a lot of uh you of conversations that happened after that.
I mean, listen, football is a family atmosphere.
You spend more time for many of us with these people than our own loved ones.
So it's a tight-knit community.
And I think everybody was feeling feeling for for Robert and and worried about him
go ahead AJ so you said Woody called you is that normal like is it normal for Woody to call you
at you know random times after games or is that a specific uh like one-time affair did you get
any kind of feeling like oh that was that was something more than him just checking on me?
No. I mean, I felt it was a nice call, man. I was appreciative that he checked on me.
We've talked on the phone a number of times over the last couple of years. He checked on me after my surgery. He checked on me during the rehab process. Christopher Johnson, his brother,
you know, and I have a good relationship you know he'll
he did the same thing he checked on me as well made sure i was okay um so it didn't seem nothing
was abnormal i was actually really thankful you know for the call coach hackett have you talked
to him because his name obviously has been thrown into all of this quickly and how do you feel about
his position and how do you feel about everybody in the building with him and all the drama that is seemingly surrounding you two's relationship
well our relationship's great uh it it uh always has been and always will be i think um you know
that there was going to be uh some things that needed to change regardless of, you know, what happened to Robert.
And, you know, we just haven't been playing consistent football on offense.
And as we know, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing
over and over and expecting different results.
So, you know, there was – when you have a couple games,
and obviously I didn't play well in either of them,
but we just don't play very efficiently,
you've got to adjust some things.
So it's a part of our game.
Change is part of our sport.
And, you know, I know there's a lot of things
that we're swirling out there,
but at this point, you know,
Brick and I have talked a couple times,
and, you know, I'm on board with whatever he decides as far as the offense goes.
And I want to do what's best for the team,
and we're throwing our support behind Coach Ulbrich,
and whatever he believes is best for the team is what we're going to go with.
You just called him Brick.
That's a sweet nickname.
So let's talk about Coach Brick real quick.
What changes?
Yeah, I mean, I want to be respectful.
It's Brick, I guess, when he's D.C., and maybe it's Coach Olbrich.
Oh, full name.
You know, to start here.
Yeah, maybe just Coach Jeffy.
Big Jeff.
Yeah, Big Jeff.
Maybe that'll be the thing.
And obviously, you know, Sala hired him.
So, you know, like their relationship, I couldn't even fathom how close they are.
That is the football business.
That is how coaching trees happen
because of how close people are
and staying in touch and everything like that.
Firing a coach after a weak fight,
you love the game of football more than anybody I've talked to.
The history of it, the story, like the tradition of it,
you're still wearing that stupid,
you need to wear a different chin shirt,
you know, all that stuff.
You need to evolve a little bit.
But I respect it because your old schoolness has you break an ankle
and then not even miss a play and come back out, all of that thing.
But firing a coach after week five normally doesn't end up like, you know,
great long term.
What do you think Coach Brick is going to do with the opportunity here?
And what do you think changes kind of going forward?
Yeah, that's a good question.
I'm not sure.
I mean, I think out of deference and respect to Robert, you know, it's not
going to be wholesale changes, I don't think.
But Brick's going to add his own style to it.
You know, he does a great job with the defense.
I've gone against him over the years in different coaching capacities.
Believe that we were both playing at the same time too.
So we have a lot of stories that overlap.
And, yeah, I really enjoyed getting to know him last year,
especially in the offseason, spending time with him. And he's
got an incredible family as well. So I expect, you know, a steady hand from him and great
leadership. He's a former player, knows what it's like to be in the locker room, and I think he's
going to do a great job. But the most important thing is that there has to be some change, even just the smallest change.
We need as players to take accountability for what's happened.
I think that's the thing that hits you too in the moment is,
if I'd played better on Sunday, this doesn't happen.
And as somebody who takes a lot of pride in their performance,
that was the main sentiment for me yesterday.
Obviously, heart going out to Robert because how much I respect him and care about him.
And then the just disappointment of poor play that could have avoided a situation like we had.
So I think it's a good perspective moment for all of us to reset mentally.
A lot of stuff is right in front of us.
Starting with this week, a division opponent,
a chance to get to 3-3 and be tied for the division lead.
We have 12 games left.
It's a long season.
There's been years where we started slowly and finished really strong.
2016, we were 4-6 and won our last eight to get into the NFC Championship.
2012, we were 1-2 and went on a big run.
There's always that run in the season where you hit it.
You want to be playing the best in the winter months.
And I think there's a lot that's in front of us.
And I'm excited about getting back to it tomorrow.
Yeah, Coach Sala said in his
statement yesterday that
he was disappointed with the fact
he didn't get the opportunity to make it right with
what he feels is a very
good locker room or very good
roster or something like that.
You still feel that way and
Jets fans should still feel that way with
everything that's happening. Everything that you guys dreamed
of whenever this Jets-Aaron Rodgers thing came together last season
and then going into this season, still very much reality for these Jets fans when you look around in there?
Well, you know how the league goes.
Narratives can change very quickly in a matter of a few days or a week.
Things can get flipped upside down.
So, you know, it's just on us right now, I think,
as players to really take accountability.
Player cuts are less more dramatized than firing of a coach.
I would say that's probably a true statement for the most part.
Obviously, there's been a few over the years that get national headlines,
but the players are the ones out there playing.
And, you know, we need to be accountable for our performances,
all of us, myself first and foremost.
And we got to fix that part.
Great coaches have great players.
You know, that's part of it.
Obviously, they add their own personality to it.
They add their own flair and style and leadership qualities
and vision for the team and saying the right thing at the right moment and creating a player-led team that has the freedom to hold people accountable.
But the restrictions and boundaries to keep some of the stragglers in line, that's an important part of it.
But first and foremost, at the core of every great team is accountability.
So we've got to be accountable to each other about our performances
and be better, all of us.
Let's talk about that a little bit more.
D-Bot has a question for you.
Yeah, as a quarterback, you know, you're always under the microscope.
So how do you, I guess, what helped you or who helped you?
What process?
Was it a person that helped you kind of block out those narratives?
And now you're an older quarterback, an older veteran quarterback but there's young young quarterbacks
dealing with as well and it's much harder for them i feel like to block out those narratives so
who or what process helped you to kind of block those things out and just lock in on play
well i think part of it had to be db the uh the insulation of playing in green bay
um you know it's it's a blessing and also a strain in its own ways
because it is a small town. At the same time, it's the only show in town. So you learn a lot of
really good lessons as a young player about how to keep your focus and perspective where it needs to
be. There's always going to be narratives outside the building. Um, but you have to hold yourself
to a certain standard and let that standard be your guiding principle, your North star,
not what everybody else thinks or says about you. Um, easier said than done, especially as a young
player. I think you got to go through some of the, the aches and pains and bumps and bruises and ups
and downs of, uh, of the early part and try and keep your confidence intact.
A lot of that has to do with the process. You talk about the process of preparation and
you're weak and you have to figure out what works best for you. Obviously, having sustained success
kind of makes that a foundational part of what you're doing, but it's important to stick to that and not to
deviate based on a win. Maybe I do a little bit less. I didn't have to study that much or a loss.
Oh, I got to do way more. I got to just get in there and grind. Lock in. Lock in. Be in there
five in the morning. I've just never subscribed to that way of doing things. I think you can
figure out what works for you and then stick to the process.
Obviously fine tune and find little tiny ways to reset after a win or a loss.
But it starts with being self-critical and being accountable to yourself and your teammates. After a win or loss, just go ahead and slam some ayahuasca and then just move the next one.
Keep moving.
All right, D-Butt?
Okay, that's just what.
It's funny.
I used to talk a lot about drinking scotch.
I'd always say, oh, tough game.
What are you going to do tonight?
I'm like, probably have three or four fingers.
Scotch.
Now it's.
Three or four fingers of scotch.
Scotch, scotch, scotch.
Scotch, D-Butt. Scotch. Three fingers I don't know what y'all are talking about
You're talking about the fingers in the scotch
Come on
Unbelievable this guy
Mine's in the gutter
Anyways, now you just do ayahuasca
We get it
Life changes
Can I just set that narrative straight as well?
I'm not a recreational ayahuasca user.
Okay.
What?
All right, all right.
Put it on the table.
A shaman has to be present.
Okay, we got it.
Okay, that is a narrative.
Set it straight.
Enthusiast, yeah.
Okay, that's fine.
But not a recreational user, please.
I don't want that.
Is anybody on earth?
You know the world better than me.
Is anybody just a
recreational i want you know what yeah i won't go to 10th dimension today and then the next day
and then the next day and then the next day is anybody doing that it's possible i would say to
you might need to do some field research and go to burning man next year to kind of test that theory
okay i don't think so. I'm 37.
It's in the desert. It's in the Amazon jungle? No.
No, it's in America.
No, it's over there. I think it's left in the
desert. It's right in Nevada, right?
Anyways, AJ has a question for you.
Aaron, you mentioned obviously
being insulated in Green Bay. What's that New York
media market like? Is it what you thought
coming in? What kind of challenges
do head coaches have
coaching there? I feel like it's obviously
magnified compared to
maybe other franchises.
Yes, it should be. It should be.
It's New York. It's one of the biggest cities in the world.
It has iconic
sports franchises
that play, iconic players who played for those franchises.
It's part of it. It's what you sign up for. I think it's
can be a big positive. It's a great learning experience for all of our
players, young and old. We have a lot of coverage on our team.
A lot of sources.
Source. And I think it's important that we
try and tune out
some of the outside narrative as much as possible.
That's how we're going to give ourselves a chance to
turn this thing around and make a run.
I hope you guys are able to do that. It would be
a wild story. And I hope
if you guys go and win the Super Bowl,
they give Sala a Super Bowl.
Yeah. You know? For the entirety
of it all. Let's talk about the game that happened
in England. Shout out to England, by the way.
Love when those games happen.
One's happening this weekend, I believe 9.30 yet again in England.
And if you get NFL Plus, you can stream NFL Network on NFL Plus.
So it's like, boom, you got it on there.
They got it all.
Did you enjoy?
Obviously you didn't.
AQ has a question for you.
That's on me.
That's 100% on me.
Nothing good happened. That asshole. That's on me. That's 100% on me. Nothing good happened.
That asshole, that is on me.
AQ has a question, though, about, you know, your trip over there.
Yeah, Aaron, you saw Brian Flores, and he's getting a lot of hype
on what he's been able to do this year.
Question is, what was he doing on third down that was –
actually, what is he doing, period, that is really good?
And second, his third down package with the seven up,
I mean, dropping guys out and bringing four to a side, whatever.
You know, you see it on tape, and it just seemed like
they'd bring something different every time.
What did you see that he does differently?
Well, they definitely had a couple wrinkles on third down.
You know, for the most part,
they were dropping interior guys coming in the plan,
and they dropped Van genkel right into
the throwing lane and he had to pick six on me which was a great play by him and disappointing
play obviously uh giving them seven there because our defense played so well but um i think it's
more than just the seven up stuff obviously that's going to get the attention uh it's how you get to
the seven up stuff and that's winning on first and second down because a lot of that shows up
in the third and i would say five six plus plus, you know, which, you know,
third and four to six, those are manageable third downs.
Third and seven extended are a little more difficult,
but it always comes down as you know, a Q2 protection on those downs.
And if you're bringing an extra guy,
then we can block based on the pre-snap look.
It forces you sometimes to make some adjustments,
whether in protection or routes to get the ball
out um and i think the what's lost maybe in the conversation around b flow which he deserves a
lot of credit uh he's done a really nice job is how good they've been on first second down and
that's to me what they're doing on first second down is a lot of movement up front and uh some
different types of fronts um they're uh in-down personnel and running four-down spacing in some of these fronts, which is obviously different.
Now, there's been some teams that have done that, whether it's playing an over-front, as the Rams have done at times with Aaron Donald and trying to find singles for him.
They were in more of what I call a G- front and even even g front where there's a three tech
backside and a two eye front side and out of that what they can do because most teams uh will if
it's a pass play we'll put as you know aq we'll put five on five in that situation i've created
different types of leverage points now you have a center slide into a two eye you have a guard
slide into a five and a tackle slide into a nine backside,
you have a three and a whatever you want to call the open end. But what they do out of that is
they'll fire the will at times. So they're taking the back out of the route concept.
And so you're eliminating checkdowns and doing what we call, I like to call replacement fire
zones where they're still in bringing four or
five guys, five in this case in base. So they have athletic guys on the edge like Van Ginko who can
drop in the coverage. And so you've eaten up the back based on being a 345G front or even a 325
front. And now you've eliminated the check down and also not eliminated a player in the coverage scheme.
So very, very good scheme by him.
And and the execution, though, obviously is the most important thing, because like you said, they have all the different looks with different guys, different spots.
And they can play to sky from it.
They can play straight up Tampa, too.
They can play where the corners are, the half field players.
They can bring everybody.
They can play one night on that. They can play where the corners are. The half field players, they can bring everybody. They can play one night out of that.
They can play 44 man out of that. They can do a lot
of different things. It's a credit to
obviously how they practice and
the flexibility they have with those
players in those positions. You have to have super
intelligent defense. The players have to
this is kind of like what was happening with the Chiefs last year
at the end where Spag said, I have 11 guys
that know everybody's job.
You have to be able to do that with the Vikings defense.
And I looked at your guys' schedule here and just got reminded,
you guys have played the Vikings defense, Broncos defense,
and Niners defense here in the first five weeks.
Welcome to 2024 football, baby.
Let's go ahead and get that thing sorted.
Now, against the Vikings, there was a moment that had us all worried.
Aaron, go ahead, comment.
Yeah, Aaron, when you got bent back there, it looked very, very bad,
and then obviously you came right back out on the field.
When it did happen, was there any worry or PTSD going back to last year?
I assume a lot of Jets fans were feeling that right away.
And then if you haven't yet, there were some great memes from that photo
and that play, and they're all funny now since you didn't get hurt seriously.
Back to the meme so i'm just a good there's a bunch coming out today too yeah you're a mean machine there's already yeah i don't know if it's right yeah it was very very painful as
i was going down my foot was caught i've been rolled up on before but maybe not, my foot was caught. I've been rolled up on before, but maybe not with my foot being caught in this way. Usually it's, you know, maybe ankle is caught or, you know, your knee is going,
but a lot of times you can kind of like wiggle out of that or something happens where the pressure
gets alleviated, but that didn't happen. So for me, there was a, it's interesting, a really good
question by UBC because there was a split second where I remembered what happened last year when I got up.
Because every player's worst fear, I think, is being carted off the field.
And for me, having been hurt a handful of times, I always want to just get off the field.
Let me get off the field.
If I've got to take a cart, I just don't want to take it from the field. Just get me off the field. And when I stood up last
year and my heel hit the ground, the, the, the dread that filled my mind was, damn, that's bad,
you know? And so as bad as I was feeling in that moment, I just wanted to stand up. And in that moment, there was the
memory of that feeling. And when my foot hit the ground, there was a total relief that came over
me as I realized, okay, I don't think anything's broken. Let me just walk off here. And then I was
just teasing one of our equipment guys, Jim, there was an interesting moment where I'm walking around
the back of the bench to go to the blue tent. and I hear the crowd do something. So I'm like, oh, is that like a
partial block punt, bad punt, good punt, whatever. And I realized that Timo just got roughed.
But a lot of times, as you know, Pat, there's not a lot of protection for the punters and it's very
rare actually you get the 15 yarder. Most of the time it's just a five. And so I kind of waited. And when I saw him do the personal foul signal,
then I was thinking, to my right is the blue tent. To my left is Jimmy from the equipment staff
holding my helmet. He doesn't quite realize what's going on. And I looked over at him. I actually
told him this just a little bit ago. And I saw him I saw him. I said, I want to thank you because you gave me that 1% extra.
Took it over the 50-50
mark where I was thinking, maybe I should
probably get this taped up right now and just
checked real quick. But when I
saw Jimmy hold my helmet, I was like,
nah, I'm going to go back out there.
Jimmy! Now if something
terrible happens in the next play, Jimmy,
Jimmy, kind of on you.
Why'd you let that guy have it?
That's on me. They're they're on jim they're on jim okay respect yeah that's that's on me you
jogging back out there though i think a lot of people are like this dude's a madman because
remember you're supposed to be prima donna california hippie you know this whole thing
yada yada yada i am some i am some of those things for sure uh i'm we should clarify which ones you
agree you are because you know once, once again, mean machine.
There will be responses from other people.
But you are a hippie from California.
Berkeley was awesome, by the way.
Hey.
Hey, shout out Berkeley, man.
Shout out Coach Wilcox.
Shout out the man, the myth, the legend, Marshawn Lynch.
Yeah.
Oh.
Yeah.
He's the best.
Dude.
You have no idea how much's the best. He's the best.
You have no idea how much of the best he is.
Actually, I think I told you how much of the best he is,
what he showed up with, how he showed up, the way the whole thing.
It was just – and everybody's like, yeah, absolutely, it's Marshawn Lynch.
I think the entire world is just like, yeah,
Marshawn can do whatever the hell he wants.
Amen.
That's what Marshawn Lynch is.
He's awesome.
Say whatever he wants.
Do whatever he wants.
Be loved. Talk about power. That's who Marshawn Lynch is. He's awesome. Say whatever he wants. Do whatever he wants. Be loved. Talk about
power. That's power.
Yeah, Marshawn
could have done whatever he wanted.
Choke Kirk Herbstreit. Boom.
Could have put him to sleep. Who's going to do what about it?
I guess I would be the one that would have to because I'm right next to him.
But then also, Sean,
pretty good TV. I guess you just choked out Kirk Herbstreit
right there because you disagreed with a Virginia Tech-Stanford pick.
I mean, that is certainly something that could happen.
But nonetheless, Berkeley was awesome.
You're a California hippie.
So whenever those types of plays happen, I think, you know,
we all get reminded quickly, like, this is a guy who's –
what year is this for you?
20.
Three head coaches.
You're a coach killer.
You heard that?
I have not heard that.
Yeah, there was a couple.
I'm telling you.
I wouldn't worry about it, Aaron.
He's just flopping his gums.
Well, I mean, I don't know who said it exactly.
I do.
I'm done with it.
Okay, all right.
Gumpy, not the biggest fan of whoever started that entire thing,
but three coaches, 20 years.
Is this the first time this type of situation happened here,
week five, for you?
Week five, yeah.
I mean, Mike was let go in 2018.
And, I mean, just like this one, I, you know,
had no foreknowledge of any of it.
That was, you know, after a real bad loss to Arizona.
And we honestly weren't that good in 2018.
I think we were 4-6-1 at the time.
If Ty was here, he could probably fact check me.
Congrats, Ty.
Yeah, congrats, Ty.
But that was hard in its own way
because Mike and I had been together for 13 years.
And he had believed in me and stood by me in 2008.
And that was a very strange, strange time for sure.
And every situation is different.
Like I said, I came to new york part of the reason
was because how much i believe in robert sala so every situation is is different um again like i
said before it's a reminder uh we're so fortunate to play this game and it's a beautiful incredible
profession that have given all of us all of you guys as well, everybody in the back, such an incredible opportunity in life to live. I think about the late, great Bill Walton.
And every time I saw Bill, whether to me or someone else, and I never understood why he
said it to me, but he would say one of his favorite sayings was, thank you for my life.
And I always thought that was so cool. He he just, he lived his life with a gratitude for all the amazing things that happened
and talk about a guy with stories,
everything from playing for Jack Ramsey and,
and,
and playing for the Celtics to winning championships,
UCLA and John Wooden,
being a grateful dead,
you know,
super fan,
best friends with, with all those guys.
And all he lived his life with was such gratitude.
And I think that's the other reminder is, you know,
is just gratitude for the time to be in the league,
gratitude for my time with Robert, for the conversations,
for the lessons, for the golf, for the fun times, for the jokes,
for the hugs, which there were quite a few.
No.
Not quite a few.
There was a few.
There could have been one more for sure.
Could have been one more for sure.
Could have been one.
Right on the sideline.
Could have been one more.
After a cool play.
Yeah.
But this game has given all of us a lot.
But it's also a tough business.
AJ, what do you got, bub? You aaron that you you uh were in the training room when you found out like whatever time it was in
the morning what how long do you stay at the facility like there's no protocol on how you
handle something like that what do you do especially as a guy in your situation like
do you feel like i gotta walk around and rally the troops like what happened
well my first priority starting the day was
rehab. You know, I'm trying to, trying to, uh, get my, my leg to feel a little bit better.
Uh, so I was in there, uh, early doing rehab and, um, then that obviously, uh, you know,
changed the direction of the day for all of us. Um, I, I knew that the schedule was going to
change and that something, you know, there was going to be, uh, you know, there wasn't going to be a 1250, uh, special teams meeting and quarterbacks at the same time.
Um, so I just, I think my message was just, you know, just get to the facility and be ready for, uh, you know, a different type of day.
The leadership council met with the ownership to start,
and then we were informed that Brick was going to take over.
And then there was a team meeting, and then we had some individual meetings.
So, again, it was a different schedule for the day.
But, yeah, I was in there doing doing rehab and that's when i found out so
leadership council meets with ownership after the announcement before the coach olbrich announcement
and then does ownership address team no no at the same at the same time yeah oh same time we
we met we met uh it was you know it was after the announcement i don't i can't remember exactly how
much time had passed,
but then there was a text about the leadership council meeting
with management and Woody and Chris Johnson,
and then Brick was in there, and he addressed us,
and then we had a team meeting,
and it was very similar just with the rest of the team.
Got it. Okay.
Well, hey, thank you for joining us,
clarifying your side
of the entire situation because
your side was being given
to the internet there for a while. You're a mean machine.
And we wish
you and the New York Jets luck the rest of
the season this week. Big one
on Monday Night Football. Obviously, today is your
Tuesday off day. We appreciate
you chit-chatting here in between treatment sessions and good luck on Monday Night,. Obviously, today is your Tuesday off day. We appreciate you chit-chatting here in between treatment sessions,
and good luck on Monday night, brother.
Yeah, I appreciate it, guys.
Thanks for being flexible.
Obviously, yesterday's schedule
got kind of thrown all around,
and this was better
because we would have only had
a few minutes yesterday.
But, you know, just to finish this,
you know, I think I just want to say,
first of all, like, thank you to Robert. Like,
thanks for bringing me in and getting on board with that. You know, just publicly, obviously,
there's, you know, words that we share privately, but, you know, I'm thankful for Robert. I'm thankful for his leadership for our team. I'm thankful for the conversations that we were able to have
and him trusting me and the way he cared about his players
and a big love out to his family, wife, their kids,
especially Adam, sending you a big hug, buddy.
And just remember there's a human side to this.
There's the humanity in all this
and there's a family, an extended family that's really hurting
so
when you're out there
as the internet does and as people do
celebrating this
in whatever way you do
just remember there's a human aspect
to it, when it comes to me I don't feel like
I need to defend myself or say anything.
There's always going to be narratives out there and conversations around what I think
and how much power I have and how much influence I have.
It's not something I worry about.
It's really not.
I care about my teammates.
I care about winning.
I'm accountable to myself, my organization, my teammates.
I got to play better. I'm accountable to myself, my organization, my teammates. I got to play better. I will.
And we're getting behind brick and there'll be, you know, there'll be some changes with this.
And that's the direction we're going to go. But we're going to stand behind brick
and we have a lot to play for. And yesterday was about remembering how tough this game is.
And today is about moving forward and embracing the changes that are coming,
the changes that have already been made, and sticking together.
And it's a time for us as players to lock arms with each other
and find that belief inside of us because that's the only way
that we can inspire the belief in our fan base to get behind us in the right way.
So I appreciate you guys.
And I'm going to go home and relax a little bit and look forward to tomorrow.
Hell yeah.
Hey, we appreciate you.
That was a good speech, brother.
That was a good speech.
Let's go run through a wall for the New York Jets.
You're the man, ladies and gentlemen, Aaron Rodgers.
Aaron!
That was a good speech.
It was great.
I think that's the same one he gave the team yesterday.
I assume that was a group text there.
It seemed like we got to rally together maybe to the team.
It sounded like he did speak to the team.
The leadership council meeting with management, he said.
Okay, so that's ownership and I assume general manager
and I assume Brick was in there as well going through it all.
Interesting, man.
Just in the fifth week going into the sixth week of the season
for that to happen.
Wild.
Anytime.
And then obviously with Aaron Rodgers being dropped into it,
being Aaron Rodgers, I mean, that's a whole nother.
What a situation there.
Very thankful he stopped by to clarify his stance on it all, AJ.
Yeah, I mean, if you think about it,
I don't know how many people other than Woody knew of the decision
or if it was just Woody.
Yeah, to think now, okay, what's the plan going forward?
Brick's got to find a way to bring everybody together.
It's a big task, man.
I'm looking forward to see how they handle it.
They're putting out some stats about Woody Johnson's
time as the owner of the Jets.
It seems like there is.
You lose, you make this decision, this thing
happens, it's going to get loud.
The thought of ownership
potentially, you know,
seeing headlines and hearing from
friends. Remember Mara, the owner of the
Giants, went on the record and said in an interview
he was sick of telling his friends and explaining to his friends of the Giants, went on the record and said in an interview he was sick of telling his friends
and explaining to his friends why
the Giants suck at football.
They spent money. When Aaron
says there's a human aspect to the Coach Salas side,
there's a human aspect to these bazillionaires
that own teams too. A lot of
pride, a lot of ego, a lot of combos potentially.
Maybe he did just wake up and say,
I'm done with it. Fired.
Maybe. First time he's ever done it in the middle, but we will learn eventually maybe he did just wake up and say i'm done with it fired maybe we don't know first time
he's ever done it in the middle but we will learn i assume inevitably this story will continue to
evolve and grow and i hope we get a chance to hear it so coach sulla and his large family yes very
large adam and aaron had handshake actually training kid remember had like their own handshake
in that entire thing people don't talk about that or forget about that. It's like I think you are going to have a much happier life
wherever you go to next, and he's D coordinator.
For sure.
That's right.
I think.
Some places.
Some places he can end up.
But in that Jets building, it is still a very long season left.
They don't have the toughest schedule.
Still have a very talented roster.
So, the first message is, hey, everything you want is still out there.
You know, it's not like the season has slipped away or we got this rookie quarterback we're trying to develop
like you still have the pieces you still in the vision you can win so it's still all out there
for the jets and absolutely bumble knows it's hard to start conversations hey, too basic. Hi there. Still no.

Hello, beautiful people,
and welcome back to our
humble abode, the Thunderdome,
on this Aaron Rodgers Wild Wings
Day, October 9, 2024.
Our tour of the program starts now.
Football!
It's wonderful. Football is
awesome. We're lucky to talk about it. We just had a
great conversation with Aaron Rodgers
about the situation happening around the New York Jets.
That's former teammate of Aaron Rodgers
and best friend of Aaron Rodgers
and all-time leading tackler for the Green Bay Packers,
A.J. Hawker.
A.J., did you see the reaction?
Seems like everybody isn't sticking with their original opinion.
That doesn't seem like it.
Really?
No, that is happening.
That is happening. Presented new facts. Don't care. That doesn't seem like it. No, that is happening. That is happening.
Presented new facts.
Don't care.
Don't want to read them.
Don't want to hear them.
That's not all I believed yesterday.
And for the good of how I feel about my take yesterday,
I'm sticking by it.
So you can eat shit.
That is what a lot of people, I think, are saying.
Others, I think, are pumped, especially in the Jets fan base,
saying, you know what?
Okay, here we go. Seems like Brick is a guy that people like. His coach has still pumped, especially in the Jets fan base, saying, you know what? Okay, here we go.
Seems like Brick is a guy that people like.
His coach has still got a belief in the roster.
And we pointed out, I pointed out to them,
they played the Niners, the Broncos, and the Vikings defense
in the first five weeks.
They're two and three.
So for a coach to even get fired after that onslaught,
that could be a tough defense play against.
But they've got to feel good about the future on the field with how they've
played, and Aaron even alluded to it. Seems
like once a year, there's a run that we go
on, and he said we, and I think he
was talking about himself, the offense he runs,
Hackett, seemingly the team that he's on,
and I think this defense is better than
a lot of defenses he ever had
for the Green Bay Packers. It's like, sounds like he
still has belief that a season can be had here,
AJ. Yeah, and for Greeny and the rest of the Jets It sounds like he still has belief that a season can be had here, AJ. Yeah, and
for Greeny and the rest of the Jets fans, like
D-Butt said, everything's out in front of them. It's true.
Usually when a coach is getting fired, like, alright, here we go,
pack it in, season is over.
This is one of those rare situations where, no,
it's actually not, especially with the schedule
and the roster. They could make some noise.
Let's go to the Toxic Table, always
level-headed. At Boston Connor
and A.Q. Shipley sitting in for Ty.
Congrats, Ty.
Con man, what you hear there of the AFC?
Still wide open?
Yeah, I mean, if I'm a Jets fan, I feel good about it, honestly.
And we just popped up the schedule there.
There aren't many games on that schedule where you look at it and you say,
oh, there's no way the Jets are going to win that football game.
Maybe you could argue the Texans.
Colts, Colts, stuff them.
They'll definitely beat the shit out of the Colts. But aside from that. You better could argue the Texans. Colts, Colts, tough one. They'll definitely beat the shit out of
the Colts, but aside from that... You better
watch your tongue, brother.
Honestly, that's the one I look at. I'm like,
okay, that's a certified win.
Especially because it's not at the
lot house. But no, it really is wide open.
Oh, because Fireman Ed's going to be here? Yeah,
of course. And he's going to have his cadence
on. You think Joey Flack's worried about
Fireman Ed doing it? Joey Flack? I would. You think Joey Flack's worried about Fireman Ed?
Joey Flack?
I would love to see Joey Flack's record with Fireman Ed in the building because I assume he's on the Jets, yeah.
No, I'm talking about when he was with the Ravens.
He was 0-4, and yeah, that's a great point, actually.
When you're playing for the Jets, it probably wasn't too hot either.
But no, it's crazy that a defensive head coach who's had a great defense
through the first five weeks has been fired, which is still nuts.
But, no, if I'm a Jets fan, I'm thinking, hey, division title still very much
on the board and going to the playoffs and making a run still very much on the board.
Thank you.
We talked about this yesterday, and we'll have Adam Schefter joining us here
in a matter of moments, I believe.
Yep, okay.
I can't wait.
He's on right now? Okay, never mind. Let's forget you, in a matter of moments, I believe. Yep, okay. I can't wait to chit-chat.
He's on right now?
Okay, never mind.
Let's forget you, A.C. Shut up, A.Q.
Forget you.
Nine-year NFL fan, Darius J. Barber.
Good to see you.
Good to be here.
Forget you, one half of the hammer.
Cowboys, A.P. Tone.
Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, senior NFL insider for ESPN, Adam Schefter.
If you can tell, Schefter looks very flexible right now because he did a
two-hour stretching routine this morning that we caught
him in the middle of. Two hours?
It could have been.
How are you feeling? You feel good, Schefter?
Feel okay, Pat.
Yeah, I feel okay. We're hanging in there.
Hey, we'll look alive. We're in the middle
of football season, Schefter.
It's great. I'll tell you
what. There are no shortage of storylines in the National Footbally. It's great. I'll tell you what. There are no shortage
of storylines in the National Football League.
It's unbelievable.
It's a tidal wave of storylines that come at you
every single day. Amen. So let's talk about the one
that we just got done kind of having a conversation
that's going to be adding to a storyline
in a pretty big way. Aaron comes on,
tells the way his day went yesterday.
He said he was in the training room whenever he found
out. He did talk to Woody on Monday, but it was a quick conversation
about his ankle and how he was feeling,
which Woody Johnson just wanted to see how it was going.
From your standpoint, I don't know if you heard the entire conversation with Aaron,
but is there any information that you have learned of the situation
that maybe we didn't hear or didn't cover or from a different angle
out of the entire situation yesterday of Salah getting fired?
Look, I might
be naive, but I thought Aaron came off as very believable. I really did. Like, Woody Johnson
calling to check in on his ankle, that sounds plausible. Short conversation, sounds plausible.
He's in the training room when he hears. I believe all that. Now, I believe also that this had been
coming for a long time. There were conversations at the end of last season about whether or not
they should make a change. They didn't make the change. They obviously were
thinking about it. At least Woody Johnson was thinking about it all along. And if we go back,
I know it's Woody's organization and he is the final say on everything. But the fact of the
matter is that when Robert Sala was hired, he also was serving as the
ambassador for the United States and the United Kingdom.
And I still think that Christopher Johnson was the guy that made the call.
He doesn't make the call without Woody's blessing, but Christopher Johnson hires him.
And I don't know that Robert Sala was ever Woody's guy.
So you had that in the background the entire time.
What's interesting is the margin in this league is so small, right?
If they win that game on Sunday, does Robert Sala get fired yesterday?
And I would say the answer to that would be no, that they would keep rolling with him.
But they had two bad back-to-back losses.
The last one comes in England, where Woody was an ambassador, where he's got lots of friends.
And in my mind, that probably was the last straw.
And he decided to make the change for something that had been on his mind that he had thought
about. And I would imagine that we'll hear more and more about this particular situation. There'll
be more and more storylines that emerge. Oh, did you hear this happen? Did you hear that happen?
But I don't believe that Aaron ordered that firing or was in on the firing or anything like that after listening to Aaron Rodgers.
I don't.
Okay, so knowing Woody a lot better than us two, I would assume as well.
And you said, you know, he potentially felt as if Robert Sala was never his guy.
Did Robert Sala know that from Woody?
And you said this is potentially a long time coming and maybe just a cherry on top being being in england in front of the lads that you
had built up your ambassador friendship with around town and losing and flying home with that
entire thing do you think coach sala knew there was a possibility this happening during the season
i think when anybody works anywhere you know the relationships you have with certain people you
know who you feel like is in your corner and who is not in your corner. I don't think it was any different with Robert Sala. I'm sure he knew that there
were feelings that existed between he and Woody, whatever those were.
And again, I'm sure he felt support, but I'm sure he felt the situation being tenuous as well,
both. So in the end, ultimately, he loses his job. He has a year
left in his contract after the season. And the one thing I could say is, even yesterday,
I heard from a number of coaches across the league. They're like, Robert Sala, great coach.
He's going to have zero, zero problem getting another head coaching or defensive coordinator
job, defensive coordinator job. Like all his friends would be interested, I think,
in bringing him back to their staffs.
San Francisco, Matt LaFleur is his good friend.
Adam Peters in Washington is his good friend.
He's got so many good friends across the league,
and he's so respected.
Robert Sala is going to have options next year
about where he wants to work, in my mind.
You think next year, right?
Because that was a media thought by some fan base.
It was like, all right, let him go on a vacation here, get past it two, three weeks, four weeks, and then boom,
drop him in as defensive coordinator for the playoff stretch down the road. You think definitely
no coaching this year for Coach Sala? You know, that's a hard question to answer because I think
Robert has to take some time. I will say this. I do think that working in this market affected him.
I think he got a little bit beat up mentally. I think that it wore him down a little bit.
I think it drained some of the enthusiasm that he had for the game. I think that,
unfortunately, he let all the outside noise get to him at times. And to do that job in any market requires you to
put on the blinders and block out the noise as best as you can. And inevitably, you can't tune
out all that noise. And if you're a human being, it's hard not to let it affect you in some type
of way. And in this particular case,
I think coaching in New York got him a little bit.
And it's not an easy job to be a head coach
in the NFL anywhere,
but it's especially difficult doing it in New York.
And it's especially difficult when you're losing games.
And it's especially difficult
when you're in the New York market,
you're losing games,
and you have the owner that didn't hire you to begin
with.
You put all that together and it wears you out.
So,
so in my mind,
he's got to take a little bit of time,
decompress in another month or two.
He might want to come back and coach the playoffs.
In all probability,
there's no rush to get back into anything.
It's more important for him to be with his family and his children.
And there'll be a job waiting for him after the season, a job of his choosing, waiting somewhere,
and he can go do that at that point in time. There's no need to rush back in to go do something
right now when you've been through the mental ordeal that you've been through the last four
or so years. So my guess would be that he's going to be sidelined
for the remainder of the season.
He'll be back next season,
but let's see how he feels in another month or two.
I'm just learning of the aspect and the thought of him
knowing that the owner doesn't think he's his guy either.
And then every time the media says anything,
he's like, that might be the owner, literally.
That might be the owner feeding.
Like just the mental games that that could play
to your point about being exhausting,
I would assume that does get a bit exhausting.
And I actually led the show talking about the situation about
when Salah leaves the Niners, he's like charismatic,
jovial, array of energy, literally on the field.
Right.
You could see the highlights of him on the sideline,
jumping around, running with it.
Did you see that with the Jets?
Well, he's told by Ernie.
A little subdued, right?
What am I here for?
Can't act like myself.
Yeah, and with the Niners, they were dominating everybody.
That was so much fun for him.
Just going after it, and then you start losing, then owner, whatever the case.
Hopefully he does get back into the game sooner than later for us.
But for himself, hopefully he does find that football joy again.
Not saying he lost his passion, but the joy is what we really enjoyed over there in San Francisco.
Go ahead, AJ.
Shefty, where does the Jets GM Joe Douglas fall in all of this?
I don't hear him getting brought up a lot.
Are he and Woody on the same page?
Like, was he aware of this?
Have you heard anything about that?
I'm sure Joe had to be aware of it in advance.
And I'm sure that Woody told Joe because I can't imagine an owner just firing a head coach and the GM getting an alert that your head coach has been fired.
Like, that's not practical in today's day and age.
I don't know when he knew, but obviously he had to know.
And Joe Douglas is
in his own challenging situation with his contract being up after this year. So if I could probably
go inside the mind of Woody for a moment, he probably says, okay, you know what? We have,
in my mind, the best roster that we've had during my ownership as the New York Jets, including
teams that under Rex Ryan and Mike Tannenbaum went to back-to-back AFC championship games.
He believes, right or wrong, that this roster is better and more talented.
So now I'm going to pick a guy that I think is very well respected in this locker room,
a guy that I think is going to bring some energy.
Let's see what Jeff Ulbrich does with this opportunity.
We got a GM who's on the last year of his deal.
And if they have the type of run that Woody is hoping,
maybe he runs it back with everybody.
And if he doesn't, then he's got no obligations to anybody to do anything.
And he gets start over.
So literally, he's got all the options out in front of him.
And it'll be up to this team to determine how he handles
the organization going forward the interim coaching success rate not great if you go through
the history and then getting the job back and having success in the future and everything
they're bringing that up with the raiders right now with antonio pierce not that it's fair i'm
just saying that is what brings up these stats the jets are going to be added to that from what
you're saying though it sounds like woody johnson, let's try to go on a run. I like the
talent of the roster.
I asked you on Monday after that Jets game where
Garrett Wilson was targeted like 23 times
or 22 times and Alan Lazar
got the ball a little bit, but nobody else really.
Did this expedite the Devontae Adams
trade talk to the Jets because they
need another weapon maybe? Because if they score a
touchdown there, they just beat the undefeated Vikings.
Maybe Devontae opens that up for them to do do that you said you didn't think that expedited
now fire coach head coach that is our jets off the table for davante adams and trade talks or
are they going all in here for this what what uh how do you think they they view the situation
for davante well here's where it stands in my mind. We are now at Wednesday afternoon, 1.15 Eastern.
And the fact that there has been no Devontae Adams trade this week would tell you that any
Devontae Adams trade is going to wait another week now. Because in the NFL, most every big move
transactionally, if it's a trade, is going to occur Monday and Tuesday while teams are coming up with their game plans, getting ready to be on the practice field Wednesday.
I think if we went back and looked at all the big trades that are made in season, very few of them are made once you get past Tuesday in season.
So we are at a spot now where it looks like the Raiders are going to be paying Devontae Adams another $970,000 this week not to play another game.
And another situation where last week we thought the Jets and the Saints were the most logical
landing spots.
Well, the Jets lost another game.
Owner's not happy.
Owner fires head coach.
I don't know if they're thinking about trading for a wide receiver.
Certainly not with what the Raiders are asking for, which is a second-round draft pick.
The Saints lose their quarterback to an oblique injury.
He's going to miss, it sounds like, multiple games right now.
We'll see when Derek Carr can make it back.
So by the time he gets back, are they still in the thick of the playoff race?
Can their new quarterback, whoever it is, keep them afloat until they want to get back there?
As Devontae is enthused about being traded to New Orleans today.
So the Jets and the Saints both have taken some hits in the last week here that you wouldn't have imagined.
And I do think that that's opened the window for some other teams to just kind of snip around
and see what it might be and just kind of lurk on the outside in the event that things fall through with the two teams that Devontae initially wanted to play for,
which were the Jets and the Saints.
All right, well, he's probably coming to the Colts,
which is good news for us.
Alec Pierce, Josh Downs, Michael Pittman, and Devontae Adams
with Joey Flax.
With Flax.
Okay.
Anthony Richardson.
Yeah, Joey Flax, Anthony Richardson, Jonathan Taylor's going to get healthy.
He's going to be back there.
I mean, the Colts are in it.
Don't you worry about it.
I don't know that for sure, but in my mind, we're definitely in there.
Let's go back to the Jets here.
Tone has a question for you, Shefty.
Yeah, Shefty, Aaron talked about how the offense hasn't been great,
and there was the rumors about Hackett
and what he was going to be as a play caller or not.
He's going to respect whatever Coach Ulbrich decides to do
on the offensive side of the ball.
I saw the report that potentially Todd Downing,
who used to be the Titans OC, could take over play calling there.
Have you heard anything situationally about the OC situation in New York?
Good question, Tony, and I would say this,
that Aaron and his answer there to me were quite revealing.
That was very interesting because that certainly sounded like somebody who had an idea that Todd Downing might be the play caller.
And obviously that had been an issue that had come up this past week.
And the fact that he said that leads me to believe that Todd Downing...
Did you just put news through Aaron's mouth? You knew that was the – is that what just happened there?
No, no, no.
I'm reading between the lines.
If he's saying I'm good with however this is going to go, right,
clearly there's a decision that has to be made.
And if he's bringing that up, that he's good with however it's going to go,
and there's a new record.
Look, here's the bottom line.
Here's the bottom line.
I was told this.
Aaron confirmed it.
We move forward.
Is that what you're going to say?
You know, Pat, I think you should give up this gig and become an insider
and get right to the point and go over the news to my interview.
No way.
I couldn't fathom your life.
I wouldn't want it.
But it is interesting how your answer went there.
So let me get back to my bottom line.
Yes, please.
Jeff Ulbrich is the new head coach.
Jeff Ulbrich gets to decide who's going to be calling plays Monday night to get back to my bottom line yes please jeff albrecht is the new head coach jeff albrecht
gets to decide who's going to be calling plays monday night against buffalo and for the remainder
of the season with him being a head coach that is his first big decision the fact that it's even up
as a decision to me it's sort of like a coach who says well we're thinking about making a quarterback change once you start having that out there that you're thinking about to me it's sort of like a coach who says, well, we're thinking about making a quarterback change.
Once you start having that out there that you're thinking about, to me, it's in the process of happening.
It's in motion.
So we'll wait to see what Jeff Ulbrich decides.
Maybe he sticks with Daniel Hackett as the offensive coordinator,
or maybe he decides to go with some new ideas here and go with Todd Downing.
Got it.
Okay, new head coach, new situation.
Does he change anything with a defender they have on the roster?
Chef Dave, you heard anything about Hassan Redick,
and is there any status of him eventually showing up to this team,
or is this just a lost cause?
Yeah, because Woody was recruiting.
Woody was openly recruiting yesterday.
He's like, you know what, I got a microphone.
Let's drive on down.
Prior to coach, Hassan Redick, you come on back.
Get in your car.
On 95.
Come on up.
When is the last time that you've heard like an owner making a public plea to a player to come in, right?
Yeah, legit.
That's why yesterday was a big day for old Woody.
He's out there swinging the water around.
Do we think this is getting settled?
Money, right?
Well, here's what I would say on Son Reddick.
There have been a lot of ups and downs in this situation a lot that's gone on
behind the scenes and ultimately until he's in there in the facility which who knows if it'll
ever happen he's not there like there have been a handful of times where I think people thought it was getting close where he would come in and
he didn't. So we could think he might be coming in today and he doesn't. We could think he might
be coming in and he doesn't. Again, there have been a lot of false alarms in this Hasan Reddick
situation, more than probably people realize. And it hasn't happened.
And Hassan obviously is bothered by a lot of different things that have gone on.
He's disappointed by the fact that he hasn't gotten a contract.
He's not there.
He's still not there now.
You know what?
With all due respect to Woody, rather than making a public plea, why isn't Woody getting his own escort and drive and go visit with Hassan
and make that same person?
Helicopter, maybe.
Just make it a quicker trip so you don't have to do anything else.
Isn't it better to do that face-to-face than through the media?
That's what I would do.
If I owned the team and it was that important to me, I would get in front of that guy and explain to him how important you are to our team
and how much it would mean for you to come in and what a difference you can make and say whatever it is that you can do for him.
Let him hear from you in person
rather than on a conference call to the reporters.
So we're assuming that hasn't happened yet
behind closed doors, it sounds like.
Not that I know of.
Maybe it has, but not that I know of.
Why doesn't he just take one of those
ice dot necklaces down there and say,
hey, listen, you want 30 million worth of these
every single year, you got it.
Okay, I'll just start unloading these.
If Woody Johnson is able to recruit Hasan Reddick back into the fold this year
after doing that, and then Hasan Reddick has a good season
and the Jets go on to win a Super Bowl,
Woody Johnson is going to be floating in a helicopter above every building
like Jerry Jones does.
Could you fathom that?
I mean, there's a lot on the line here for the Woody Johnson conversation
going forward.
Now let's talk about conversations happening in other places, maybe text messages.
D-Bot has a question for you.
Yeah, Adam, I believe it was kind of maybe around this time, maybe a few weeks later last season,
when you said seven, potentially eight new head coaches would be coming in because guys would be fired.
Obviously, we just had our first one with Robert getting fired.
Any potential coaches on the hot seat, or is it too early for that?
Well, D-Butt, it's never too early, I guess, to dial up the pressure.
It's always hunting season in the NFL.
Again, I've already had people call me.
You know, the funny thing is, this is true, I had an owner call me on Monday,
and he's like, how many openings are we expecting this year?
And I thought it was an interesting question,
and it was the first time it had come up until you now have asked me a second time.
And we kind of went over teams.
And we counted on Monday, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight,
eight potential, potential spots.
Now, again, I don't think it'll be that many.
I don't think it'll be that many.
But there are like eight places that you're looking at and you're saying,
here's a spot I'm watching, including the Jets.
We have that listed.
And he was asking about that.
And then sure enough, on Tuesday, like 12 hours later, the Jets fire Robert Sala.
And the fact of the matter is there are six, seven, eight changes every year in the NFL.
And the chances are that there'll be six,
seven,
eight more after this season.
It's just how things go.
It's,
it's become part of the sport.
Vrabel is available.
Belichick's available.
There's a,
you know,
numerous Sloic Johnson.
Yeah.
Pete Carroll.
I mean,
there's a lot of names out there for owners to potentially.
Flores.
Aaron Glenn.
Aaron Glenn.
Aaron Glenn up there.
There's numerous, like, owners can get a little wake up.
How about the guys in Washington?
Cliff Kingsbury's doing a great job.
Anthony Lynn's doing their run game as head coaching experience.
John Gruden's feeling nicey.
Oh!
I mean, there's a lot of guys out there. You haven't seen John Gruden feeling nicey. Oh! There's a lot of guys out there.
You haven't seen John Gruden feeling nicey.
Oh!
He's doing some cool TikTok videos.
Oh, yeah.
I'd say.
Yeah.
John Gruden's doing football again.
His Twitter is TikTok everything Gruden loves football.
What is it about Gruden loves football?
And he does.
And he does. And he does.
And he will. I don't know if he's
sending emails. Go ahead. Here's a fun little
John Gruden story. So we do
these meetings before the draft every year
and this had to be, well, it was a year
he was doing the draft. So they go around
the room and they say, all right, let's go
through the room here and talk about what everybody knows.
Let's start with
Chris Mortensen. What, what do you know?
And Mort's like, well, this team is moving up.
This team, this team, this team, that.
All right, Schefter, what do you know? I say it.
They go, all right, John, what do you know? He goes,
I got a phone, too, you know.
And he starts rattling off
information. He's an insider.
You know, just the way he says
everything, it's just, it's entertaining.
Gruden, everything. You can listen to that guy all day. These TikTok videos, very low-lit, you know just the way he says everything it's just it's entertaining gruden everything yeah
these that guy all day these tiktok videos very low lit not great yep quality not high
i don't know who's editing it maybe him on his face maybe him and it is just 108 on the paint
just like chef d every time we appreciate the hell out of you brother adam schefter
yeah i just want to apologize for cutting into uh.J. Watt's airtime here.
Like, I know I took up some of his time.
So, as the owner of Burnley, I want to make sure that he knows that I apologize
and we should get J.J. on here as soon as possible to get his brilliant insights.
Okay.
Schefter, I don't know what that was.
I don't like him.
Sounds like someone's scared of J.J. Watt.
Yeah, you're trying to keep J.J. Wall. One of your plugs
is, how was your relationship
with J.J.? You know J.J. Wall?
I love J.J.
Is that right? Last game, I guess.
Can't wait to know.
Why do you say it like that? Yeah, it was an interesting answer.
Ladies and gentlemen, I'm Sheff. I'm a big J.J.
fan. Send him my best. Okay, alright.
Thank you, Sheff.
Hey, Sheff.
One final thing as I take up more time.
I would like to let everybody that's watching know that J.J. Watt was supposed to be on, but it's me, bitch.
Sorry.
Leader of the insiders.
I love Chef D.
As Aaron was saying there, dining going to be the—
Yeah, as a matter of fact, we saw how that happens.
Wow.
Legit, he heard it from a source.
I can't confirm it, can I?
I just, yeah, Aaron, just confirmed it.
Very telling.
Yeah, that was awesome.
Very telling.
He alluded to it.
As Aaron was saying, yeah, Donnie's the new guy.
I mean, that was awesome to watch.
Damn, I missed that.
Yeah, me too.
Well, didn't Aaron say, no, I could have misheard it,
but I thought he said
whether or not this happened
with Robert, there was going to be changes on the offense.
Yeah, it sounded like he did allude to a couple
different things, and Schefter was like, he said
not me. I took it as
he's thrown, making sure he publicly puts
all his support around Brick, around the new head
coach, but also, Schefter took it a different way.
No, on the offense, when we talked offense
with Hackett, he did.
There was a, he did say a couple things that were like,
I'm open for whatever.
I should have said, what are the options?
I meant to jump in and say, what are the possible options to change?
Call Dan O.
And that would have been an AJ question here,
because you put him on the spot.
You have a better relationship.
Yeah, should have asked that.
Yeah, should have.
I mean, way to let journalism down.
But Shefty was like, don't worry about it.
I fucking got it. Yeah, he got it he scooped me eight is wow joining us now
what's that eight teams he said what for new coaches yeah that's wild yeah one of them already
done he said seven more he's never too early for hunting season you know what he said owner
calling him he must love that i mean the more we learn about these insiders
they are like a uh a conduit of information they gossip too these things like the gossip yeah
you know sham's debuts tomorrow here we go good luck in there shams joining us now ladies and
gentlemen future first ballot hall of famer whose time was cut off today by adam schefter ladies
and gentlemen jj wantatt. Yay, JJ!
Thanks, guys. Glad to be here.
We couldn't have done without that last anecdote from Schefter.
Glad we got that in.
Riveting?
No, needed it.
Really, really.
Glad he bumped me. Glad he bumped me for that.
Do you know Schefter? He said you guys got a
great relationship.
Schefter's a little part of got a great relationship. Schefter's
a little part of the Burnley crew. He's in the
Burnley crew. Whoa!
I didn't know he's an investor.
Schefter owns a soccer team?
I did not know that was the case.
Yeah, he's our soccer insider.
He gives us absolutely zero
information in the soccer world, but anything we need to know
in the NFL, we get it. It's great.
You got Tyler from Dude Perfect, Adam Sheffer,
J.J. Watt. Are you kidding me? Oh my
God. Who's next? Yeah, Burnley's
about to go north in the
in the rankings.
The championship.
The list
of teams. The table, yeah.
The table. You got it. Keep going.
You got it. You got it. Well, I can sense
it with Sheffer on board now. him and Tyler kind of exchanging ideas.
I couldn't even fathom you coming in there saying, look, we need an hour and a half dinner,
meal, five course before each time.
That's better than everywhere else, including Tottenham.
We're going right to the top.
Hey, let's go, Barnley.
Bullish.
Up the Clarets.
Up the Clarets.
Up the Clarets.
Up the Clarets.
Let's go down to Moore.
The Moore.
Close to Moore.
The...
Turf Moore.
Turf Moore. There it is. Clifton Moore. Turf Moore.
There it is.
We want to go to Turf Moore.
Hey, as an owner of a team, have you ever just walked in on a Tuesday and said, hey, head coach, you're fired?
So what is your takeaway?
Schefter gave us a lot of information there, actually.
He said he felt like it was a long time coming,
even the fact that it was maybe going to happen at the end of last year,
and instead they do it this time after the loss in England
where he was the ambassador, yada, yada, yada, yada yada yada how do you feel about those talking i think the english
talking points got out because i've seen that a couple places now uk ambassador the uk ambassadorship
has been brought up on a few television casts now and uh so that's very clearly it's very embarrassed
to be in england and lose that game apparently yeah um but i mean it's wild it's a it's a wild
situation you're sitting there and
are you where you want to be, especially with the
expectations before the season started?
Absolutely not. You bring in Aaron Rodgers
and you think that you're going to, I finally
have got my playoff team. I finally got my
Super Bowl run. I'm picked in the preseason
to be first. And then it doesn't go
exactly how you want to go at the beginning of the season.
And you feel like it's slipping away
and you want to make that change now to try and salvage this season as opposed to waiting to do it later but i
mean just defense is second in the nfl in points per and yards per game 255 yards per game they're
fourth in sacks they're seventh in points per game like that defense is playing strong yes the
offense is struggling right now they need to put up some more points but i mean if you're just
looking at a situation where coach gets fired and I understand over the course of the whole thing
but that's a tough tough thing and then a question that I had which obviously you guys just had him
on for a while but I'm very curious I saw that Robert wasn't able to talk to the team on his
way out or any of that like that's a tough one man like not to be able to especially in this
situation at least see some of the guys and like say appreciate it and I know he calls them
afterwards but man that's a it's just a tough situation it's business least see some of the guys and, like, say appreciate it. And I know he calls them afterwards.
But, man, it's just a tough situation.
It's business.
At the end of the day, it's business.
And you get to do whatever you want to do when you're the owner.
But it's still tough.
Yeah, you and Schefter and Tyler from Dude Perfect
are certainly doing that with Burnley, making it your own little fun house.
But, yeah, Woody Johnson seemingly, okay, seemingly just doing this.
Yup.
And then did Schefter also say that he implied that Sala's not
his guy I didn't hire you I was in yeah I heard that that was a wild like that was a new development
that was pretty crazy yeah right like no no definitely wasn't my guy no yeah I'm the actual
owner okay brother made this decision while I was ambassadoring, you're not my guy. So let's figure it out. It's like, that's
a whole nother, let alone the New York media market.
And now it's like,
ownership right upstairs is actually like,
this guy, looking down.
How'd you hire this?
There was a quick distancing there. That was a quick
distancing, like, nah, nah, never was.
Never was my guy. Legit, like,
a long time coming, and also saying
never really his guy. It's like, okay.
So Sala had to at least feel
a little bit, you know, and then Schefter was
like, you can normally sense how your relationships
are going at work or whatever. It's like,
I did not know. I didn't know any of
that. That really changes the conversation a good
bit, I think. And then they put him in. And being
fired on a Tuesday as opposed to a Monday is also
wild. Well, it was Monday.
They're playing Monday night, so football
Monday.
Yeah, today was still Aaron Rodgers Tuesday
because football. Long flight back.
Oh, I got it. I got it.
You don't, JJ.
No, I don't. I know what you're saying.
Yes, because it's Monday night, the whole week shifts
so that it was technically Monday. But I'm saying
you come home from the game, you come in the next
day, you kind of like peek around the office like am I good? So you go about your day and you're like, alright, I made it through technically Monday. But I'm saying you come home from the game, you come in the next day, you kind of like peek around the office like, am I good?
So you go about your day and you're like, all right, I made it through the day.
This week is fine.
You definitely are not ready for the Tuesday call into the office.
That's for sure.
Yeah, and just like Aaron said, it sucks.
Family gets fired.
Obviously, you have to change cities.
It's part of the profession and everything like that.
Salah will be back.
He's going to coach Colts, I heard.
So good luck to your Houston Texans team.
Yeah, you guys could use that.
It definitely did sound like offensive coordinator change, though.
I would say from Aaron's conversation that I agree with Shefty on reading through the lines. That seemed like a pretty clear one.
Okay, so you and Shefty are aligned with Burnley and aligned with the fact
that Aaron said there's a new offensive coordinator.
Anything else we need to take away from that and Shefty's conversation?
No.
Nothing?
No.
Everything else was a waste of time, Shefty.
No, it was great.
It was great.
I listened to it all, really enjoyed it.
All right, let's go.
It's great you guys have the quarterback of the team on the day after.
I mean, nobody gets that access Good on you
Good on program
He's been a part of the program
Half a decade
Five years now
That's a long time
20% of a century
You can really start going there
Five years
We got it What's a thousand? 20% of a thousand You start doing some math. I mean, you can really start going there. Yeah. Yeah, five. You get it.
We got it.
Yeah.
What's 1,000?
What's 1,000?
There it is, 20% of 1,000.
Well, no, it's definitely not that.
You know.
Definitely not.
Math real good.
But these last five years have been through, there's been a lot with Aaron, you know, and our show.
A lot.
You know, like, we're very thankful we get to talk to him, but obviously when things like this happen, it's like,
not exactly, like, pumped to be the one to have the convo
because it's like, hey, let's make sure we get all the answers here.
You going to ask any tough questions?
It's like, I bring up everything.
I was trying to figure out the time of the day
because today is a work day for them, right?
Tuesday.
Come on.
Jesus.
Golly.
I knew it.
I said it. As played a lot of football.
That's why.
Too much.
Too much.
Whoa,
whoa,
whoa.
Stone Cold said he doesn't.
I'll believe in it.
Anyways,
let's pivot away from the jet situation.
Although it is very all encompassing because it's such a big storyline.
Let's go to your brother.
Congratulations. TJ. What? Hunter sack club. from the Jets situation, although it is very all-encompassing because it's such a big storyline. Let's go to your brother. Congratulations,
TJ Watt, Hunter Sack Club.
Yay! Hunter Sack Club.
He pulls that off. You welcome him into that group, so you've been waiting a long time.
What is it like watching TJ hit these milestones?
And, oh, did you
stay up for that one? Did you stay up for that?
Yeah, man, it was a late one, man. Late one.
Late one. But
sadly, that didn't end the way I wanted it to for him,
but it was a great football game, obviously right down to the wire there at the end.
But for him, 100-sack club, being the second fastest player in NFL history,
besides Reggie White, I mean, for us growing up in Wisconsin,
Reggie White being our idol, like any time that we're mentioned
in that same category is pretty unbelievable.
So unbelievably proud of him.
I also know that he's only, I think, 13 and a half away now from passing me.
So I'm just going to try and enjoy the bragging rights that I have.
No, take a golf cart to the legs.
Take a golf cart.
You guys know what you're doing.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
No, I'm joking.
We love watching TJ.
We love watching him.
That would be very rude of him.
Yeah.
Very rude of him. No, but it's coming sooner than later. I know, I'm joking. Kicking his knees. We love watching TJ. We love watching him. That'd be very rude. Yeah. Very rude.
No, but it's coming sooner than later.
I can tell you that.
It's coming sooner than later.
So I'm just enjoying these last few days I got here.
How come he doesn't get holding calls?
Nobody does.
It's the NFL.
They just don't call him.
Because they could call him all the time.
That's because these offensive linemen are cheating all the time.
That's right.
I saw him on New England every damn play. I'll tell you how much. That's because these offensive linemen are cheating all the time. That's right.
I call him on New England every damn play.
I tell you how much.
Oh, do they?
Well, I hope they call him this weekend because they got the Texans and Drake May playing against that tough defense.
Should be great.
Okay, C.J. Stroud.
We had him on yesterday.
The guy is like the perfect example of what you want as a starting quarterback.
Legitimately.
Everything about him.
It's bananas.
And they're continuing the ball.
How do you feel? You got to feel great about that Houston Texans right now. Yeah. Yeah, everything about him. It's bananas, and they're continuing the ball. How do you feel?
You've got to feel great about that, Houston Texans, right now.
Yeah, yeah, I feel great.
I think the end of the game this past week was wild.
Obviously, everybody looks at the Bills' situation
and how they managed the end of the game, and it's definitely not ideal.
You're certainly not looking at that as a pinnacle
of what you're trying to do as a coach.
But I do have to say, on the flip side of that,
I don't think the Texans handled it that great at the end of the game either.
I think they threw the ball with timeouts left on third down
when Kiamie was already in field goal range,
knocked themselves out of field goal range and had to punt it.
So both of those, at the end of that game, it was a very interesting situation.
But, I mean, I'm sure it's been talked about to death,
but the Bills situation was truly baffling.
Yeah, and Josh misses that throw because he was knocked out on the field.
Yeah, yeah, he couldn't see.
Did you see that?
Also baffling.
Also very, very, very baffling.
I don't know how – I legitimately don't know how that works because the –
I mean, everybody with eyes.
I'm not – you know?
In heaven.
And we're fans of Josh Allen, which is why I think we're all like,
yup, because we don't need two in a set understand game we don't need that type of thing no matter what you believe in how far
the science goes back to back concussions not good that is certainly not good and it's like
i think he was clearly out i think everybody kind of clearly thinks he was out then he gets back in
there and he plays bad everybody's like josh allen this is josh allen yeah let's move let's get out
of here please i'm sick of it yeah in the sun yeah yeah i'm sick of it i want to see that tree more that's a good
tree back great but josh allen big tree fall hard he's certainly knocked out and everybody's
like well he's playing bad football it's a good defense it's like it is a good defense but also
that guy might have he might have no idea what's going on there he was clearly not hope he was okay
hey josh we hope you're okay peace and peace we need you in the league yeah man legit in this what geez whoa you look like bigfoot big blurry phone lake
yeah yeah my son's inside sleeping so I was trying to uh come outside to avoid any potential crying
in the background when he wakes up or singing he likes to sing and uh nice uh outside but i did not anticipate the sun coming over the
roof and now it's catching me hot yeah half like half in half out yeah and i don't know what to do
i'm gonna be honest with you i don't know what to do hey that thing's coming up on the east and
setting on the west uh every single day about this time kind of over center there so probably should
have known it was coming but with
that being said sun still got it is it hot too not just bright hot uh no no it's not hot it's uh
58 degrees which is perfect but sun can still get you even when it's cold that's what you got to
remember oh yeah you got to remember forget about that especially us fair-skinned folks you know you
you do you don't got to worry about getting that cold sunburn
out of nowhere. What happened? Oh, yeah, you
are the whitest person of all time.
That's kind of what my skin tells
me there. I think no matter how the sun goes,
you look good. So we got the
lake house, okay? Yep.
We got the one over there in Arizona.
Yeah, Arizona. We got the London
penthouse. We got the Texas-Houston
thing. This is nothing like your lake house, obviously.
Nothing like your lake house.
Well, I mean,
I'm loving lake life.
I don't blame you,
but boy, JJ.
You got a boat?
I don't know how to do the water stuff.
I got a jet ski because it was gifted to me,
and I'll go wide open with that.
But like the boat, I was going 65-70 on this
thing. I'll patrol on the
jet ski just because it's like a motorcycle
and I used to ride a motorcycle. I don't know all the
shit about the boat. It feels like it's a lot of work.
And if it doesn't work, you're
stuck. And I don't like
swimming in the water. So I haven't gotten into the boating
yet aspect of it all.
Coach Saban has a connect, I guess,
for a good boat and he said he'll teach me all that stuff.
Shout out to Coach Saban. But I feel like my daughter
is going to want to be in there, so I'm going to have to learn this shit.
I'm going to have to learn it all, I think. I don't want to.
Yeah, definitely. I mean, it's not like
you also don't have people that can take care of things
for you. I mean, you've got a great
staff here on the Thunderdome.
Hey, who wants to go
take care of the boat? Who wants to go tighten
up the paw on the tent? Alright, G Hey, who wants to go take care of the boat? Who wants to go tighten up the pontoon?
All right, Gump, here's to paint chips.
First mate.
Need you to figure out how to keep that boat.
Happy birthday, Gump.
Happy birthday.
Happy birthday, Gump.
Thank you, Zito.
Appreciate it, brother.
Happy birthday.
Nothing he wants more than a burly win this weekend.
That's right.
Yeah, we need it.
We need it, too.
International break, so we're off.
Fuck!
Yeah, we're off.
International break?
So, United States playing who?
I don't know.
We got guys playing all over the map.
We don't have any guys on the U.S. team right now.
Trying to get Cole Osher to come over.
Hold on, you don't have any Americans on Burnley?
Who?
We have an American with dual citizenship, Luca Cole Osher.
He currently plays for the Italy U21s.
Great, great player. Unbelievable., he currently plays for the Italy U21s.
Great, great player.
Unbelievable.
He's not playing for the States?
Why isn't Coliocio playing for the United States of America?
Look at Poncho.
What is this all about?
Poncho is the gaffer now.
He's Italian.
What do you mean?
We need him over here.
Did you hear his name?
Yeah, I heard it.
Coliocio.
Yeah.
Mike Grella was also Italy and America play for America,
which I appreciate.
Coliocio would thrive. I don't know if Grella could have played for Italy.
Whoa.
You see that lolly, TSD?
Watch Grella's Red Bull highlights.
You're going to have to face Grella.
You are going to have to see Grella. They won a World Cup win.
I don't know if you want Grella's smoke.
You're out of pocket right now.
He would say the same thing.
Soccer out of pocket talk, which I appreciate is what our show is all about.
Well, get an American on that team.
Let's start climbing the table.
Yeah, working on it.
Pochettino's first match in charge this weekend.
Why don't you pay for that 14-year-old over there in Philadelphia?
Kevin Sullivan.
Kevin Simpson.
Sullivan?
Yeah.
Kevin Sullivan.
Why don't you get him on the roster?
Man City's got some cash. They've got some cash.
Thank you. You don't own Man City.
Big Man City fan.
Oh, yeah.
They're getting sent down, though.
Is that where Erlin?
You're a Man City fan, Q? Where did that stem from?
Well, see, over COVID, I had no TV to watch,
and so I started on all or nothing
and just thought Pep Guardiola was absolutely electric.
Is he gone now?
He's not coaching anymore.
Yeah, he's coaching.
He's still there.
Last year of his contract.
He'll be done at the end coaching England soon.
He's coming over to Boston.
No, he's coming over to Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
No, no, no, no.
He's switching to basketball.
You guys play the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Who wins, JJ? Burnley, Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Burn's switching to basketball. You guys play the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Who wins,
JJ? Burnley, Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
Burnley by quite a bit.
Are they in the MLS?
In Pittsburgh?
I don't know if you can play on the road.
That's a tough one.
You'll work that, JJ.
I don't know.
I don't know if you want to go down
to the river off North Shore down there. You's next to the river, north shore down there.
You used to have, what was the Halloween thing down there?
Bring them over to Turf Boy.
Station Scared.
There's bodies in that river.
You don't want to play soccer against the Riverhounds down Station Scared.
Station Scared.
Okay?
You don't want that, pal.
Burnley would have no idea.
Jesus Christ.
I couldn't even fathom the amount of, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
What's going on?
One of those yinzers. Good luck. Yeah. Good luck fathom the amount of, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What's going on? When those yinzers show up.
Yeah. Good luck, Burnley. Now you're
0-2. Inter-Miami beats you.
Then the Pittsburgh Riverhounds
get you down. And then Concava.
And Concava, obviously.
Concava would get, no.
That was me playing soccer
representing Burnley.
I was not a good
representation of our squad. To be clear, you played a lot.
Yeah, you played a lot.
Great representation.
You played a lot. I was really
impressed. Legit, every time you went back out there,
I'm like, what is he doing? Why is he
still out there? And then you were running
and fighting and heading. Almost scored.
Almost scored a goal. I mean, the guy's
ball hit the post in the other game.
JJ. I had no business being out there. I had no business being out there. the post in the other game. JJ. I had no business
being out there. I had no business being out there.
Yeah, on the team. I disagree.
I had no business being out there either on the team.
Look at you. Look at that. Look how big you are.
All white. Not a good look
for the big guys. Foul.
Obviously.
Welcome to JJ's house, bitch.
That's mine? No, yeah, foul.
That was a good crock.
That is a little bit of a crocker from JJ.
What, with the left boot?
Come here.
Foul.
That was a foul, guys.
He's flopping on you.
This ain't football.
Anyways, JJ, we love your soccer stuff,
and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds are a tough place to play.
Let's get back to American football, shall we?
Connor has a question for you.
Yeah, JJ, how do you feel about the performance
from a friend of the program who was on the show last week,
Kyle Van Noy?
It feels like he's having a little bit of a resurgence here at 33,
maybe adding a few years on to his career,
maybe gets a three-year deal here
instead of just being a mercenary
for the Ravens?
I think it's awesome.
I think seeing a guy like Calvin Noy, who's obviously bounced around a little bit,
but just always, every time he plays whatever team it's for,
he goes out there, he's got not only technical skill,
but he puts in the effort.
He's just all over the place making major plays.
Six sacks, second in the NFL, 17 pressures leading the Ravens.
It seems like, like you said, he always gets these contracts
that are like one or two years or hang around a little bit,
but just a consistent, consistent player
and love giving some pass rushers some love,
especially guys that are doing it for a very long time.
So Kyle Van Nooyen, shout out to you, man.
Atta baby, KVN.
Hell yeah, Kyle. Kyle Van Nooyen, shout out to you, man. Atta baby, KVN! Hell yeah, Kyle.
Kyle Van Nooyen.
We appreciate it
every time he comes on.
He's electrifying.
And him playing at this,
you know, level,
at this age,
obviously great.
But whenever he was
with the Chargers,
he turned it on there
for a bit.
Absolutely.
Then he goes to the Ravens
middle of the season
after taking on Connor
last year,
starts making some plays.
I think he feels very comfortable.
He loves the culture over there.
I think he loves playing for that team.
Good for them.
They seemingly got it this year, the Ravens.
Yeah, look out.
This could be the year.
They legitimately could.
They seem to have figured it out.
A lot of teams that haven't figured it out.
Massive matchup this week.
It's going to be a blast, dude.
Ravens, Commanders, Jaden, Lamar.
Like, this is going to be awesome.
I can't wait to watch this game.
I mean, this is future of NFL happening in real time.
And then there's a style, you know, that Baltimore has.
And then you think of the commanders on offense, you think like,
okay, we got razzle-dazzle.
But I think there's a chance, I think there's a chance one of these teams
is making its first appearance on the top offensive line performance
of the week.
Shut out of town.
And the other one has been on before.
So I think what AQ's saying is you think Commanders Raven's not similar.
Pretty similar.
They got good fighting styles.
It's going to be a great game.
Now, let's move forward.
They do already.
Let's go.
They tried to.
They tried to.
I believe NBC wanted it, and CBS said, no, no, no, no.
Let's move it to Tuesday then.
You know, CBS, JJ, why don't you make the
sweep back and take it.
Holy shit. I'm fighting his son, man.
I'm fighting his son. I'm trying to help.
Yeah, but you're winning. You're winning the fight.
Don't stuff me in a locker, please.
Yeah, you do look like you're straight out of a movie right now.
D-Bud has a question for you.
Speaking of the Commanders, we're heading to week six
right now. I think their head coach is
definitely a candidate, but who do you have at the top of your coach of the Commanders, we're heading to week six right now. I think their head coach is definitely a candidate.
But who do you have at the top of your coach of the year,
I guess, rankings right now going forward?
I would put Dan Quinn up there, certainly.
I would put Kevin O'Connell up there as well.
I think those guys have done an unbelievable job. I think what Dan Quinn has done there,
it's so great proving what you can do very quickly in this league.
Often we talk about rebuilds and things like that, but what you can do very quickly in this league you know often we talk
about rebuilds and things like that but what you're watching the commanders do right now not
only with dan quinn but also cliff kingsbury offensive coordinator just putting up points
and then jayden i mean right now if you had to vote today i don't know how anybody votes for
someone other than jayden daniels for mvp i mean what he's doing is unheard of it's literally
the first quarterback ever since 1970 with 75-plus completion percentage,
1,000 passing yards, 300 rushing yards in any five-game span.
Like, he's doing things that we literally haven't seen.
So it's unbelievable, and he hands down my MVP at this moment of the year,
and I think you go either Dan Quinn or Kevin O'Connell as coach of the year.
And also, major shout out
to my guy Cliff Kingsbury for what he's doing with that offense.
Hell yeah, Cliff Kingsbury rallying the boys.
Dan Quinn, he's going backwards hat over
there. He found that in Dallas. He became
a Florida man in Texas.
Backwards hat carries over to Washington
and the Commanders. They're all jade out
on the sideline, both of them. All have jades
on, fresh. Cliff Kingsbury's doing
his thing. Dan Quinn's doing his thing.
Why not the Commanders?
New ownership, fresh start.
They're going to need to get a stadium at some point, but good for them.
Good for everybody that has been Washington football team fans
and then the people that have been Washington team in the past.
Yeah.
Team in the past.
Yeah, they found their name.
They can't change their name from the Commanders now.
They have to stick with the Commanders forever because of how good they are.
Yeah, because if you win, you have to – can't leave.
It's like the Utah Hockey Club.
Bingham.
Utah Hockey Club currently completely undefeated after last night's debut.
It's like, all right, you're the UHC now forever.
Congratulations.
They sold out the barn, and then outside they had a watch party
that would have been enough for the arena to fill up again.
It's crazy.
Utah taking in that Phoenix team, and then them having their debut last night
and hosting the ESPN NHL show with Levy and Messier.
Moose was out there, and PK was out there, the whole crew.
It's like it was big.
It felt big, and they won.
And I think these Utah folks are like, hell yeah, we like competition.
Hell yeah, we like events.
But I think they're going to fall in love with the sport of hockey too.
And last night is a great way for that to happen.
And good for everybody out there.
Good for everybody out there.
Those Utah folks, they'll support their team now.
They will show up to fill a stadium.
They've done a good job up there.
What was the – the Jazz had like a 10-year run of sold out or something.
And they haven't been like great. They had a few good job up there. The Jazz had like a 10-year run of sold out or something. And they haven't been great.
They had a few good years with Jonathan Mitchell,
but it's not like they've been unbelievable where they should be selling out.
And Ryan Smith, backwards hat guy as well,
owner of Jazz and of Utah Hockey Club.
He founded Qualtrics back in the early 2000s.
He's only 40-something years old, self-made billionaire,
owns two teams. Now he's
sitting next to Gary Bettman,
who I believe had a nice beer last night as well
watching. The NHL's doing it,
man. And Ryan Smith, congratulations, brother.
Friend of the program.
Very, very happy for him.
AP Tone has a question for you, JJ.
Yeah, Jage, I do have a question for you.
It's a trivia question, actually.
Do you know where TJ watt, Andrew van Ginkle, Nick Herbig, TJ Edwards, who else?
Jack Sandberg, Leo Chanel. Do you know where all those guys went to college and what position
they play
Speaker 3, linebacker, you, Wisconsin. I mean mean just pumping out linebackers who are making big plays obviously
yeah you got van gink out there pick sixes two pick sixes you got tj edwards in the center
you got zach bond i mean it truly is uh we were talking about me and my buddies and you started
listening we were like hang on a second is there a group that's got a better, at this current moment,
linebacker crew in the NFL making play after play after play?
I mean, pretty impressive crew.
Any disagreements?
Can you think of any others at the top of your head?
Penn State used to be linebacker U, right?
Wasn't that what Penn State was called?
Yeah.
We have –
Yeah, they got Micah.
They got the –
Chop.
Dwell.
He's more of an A.
They had, obviously, LeVar Arrington.
I mean, dominant.
JJ, seems like you're talking shit right now. Paul. He's more of an A. They had, obviously, LeVar Arrington. I mean, dominant. JJ, it seems like you're talking shit right now.
Paul.
He said current.
I'm not talking to anybody.
I'm talking right now.
Today.
Hey.
Van Kinkle's got two picks.
TJ just had his 101st sack in the NFL.
Herbig has like three sacks, four sacks this year.
TJ Edwards is in the dead center of that defense,
making plays left and right.
Zach Vaughn, I believe, has multiple sacks this year.
Like, it's a true – Leo Chanel for the Chiefs, like, Super Bowl champion.
It's a very impressive group.
Okay, Wisconsin.
That's awesome.
Hey, let's pay a little bit more respect to Wisconsin, I think,
is what Wisconsin J.J. Watt is saying here.
I think that is rightfully earned right there.
I did not know all that.
As his names were rattling off, I'm like, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn.
I didn't know that.
Good for Wisconsin.
They could be back.
Yeah.
A lot of offensive linemen.
A lot of linebackers.
Great.
Very proud.
Should be proud.
A lot of quarterbacks.
A lot of quarterbacks.
Running backs.
Russ Wilson.
Running backs.
Tons of running backs, obviously.
Wide receivers.
That's a question.
Russ Wilson, yeah.
A lot of wide receivers.
Not a lot of wide receivers. Not a lot of wide receivers? Not a lot of wide receivers.
Not a lot of wide receivers.
Not a lot of quarterbacks.
How about corners?
How about corners?
We stopped the run.
Riley Moss from there?
Nah.
Nah, he's from Iowa.
Go Hawks.
I thought you guys had a chance here.
All right, we'll be back tomorrow.
Week five of the NFL season kicks off tomorrow night.
It's a good one.
We'll talk about it.
Be a friend, tell a friend something nice that might change their life.
Backward hats rule.
That was a good sign-off.
Maybe the best one.
Jage, did you see we all put on our backwards hats?
I did. I saw that.
I appreciate it.
I also caught two Jages on this show.
That is generally kept for...
Not many people even know that one
outside of the family or tight, tight friends.
I appreciate it.
I feel like we're closer.
To be clear, we didn't know about it either until a text from a Yinzer who is a massive TJ fan.
His name is Billy Bones.
He sent us a text.
He goes, why don't you tell Jage in the J-A-J-E in the text that he sent.
First time we saw it, all laughed.
Loved it.
Obviously, we all laughed.
So that was, I believe, a tribute to Bones there in the group text.
I didn't know that was – okay, so Billy Bones knew, obviously.
Who he has met.
You have met Bones.
Remember, he shook your hand.
He's a little guy.
He came up to you and he said, I love you.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
He said, I love your brother so much more than you.
Yeah.
No, he's in a special group because J-Age is reserved.
I mean, that's a Derek, TJ, Evan, Joe, Taylor.
That's about it.
Bones.
Not many people.
Anyone with a J.
Not even Cushing?
Wow.
How would you spell it?
J-A-J-E is how he's spelled.
See, it's J-A-G-E.
That's the spelling, apparently.
He might have spelled it J.
That's what the boys all go with.
I thought it was just J-J. I feel like there should be a-O-S-T-R-O-F-E-D.
It works with anything.
People call me Age.
Like, my family calls me Age.
Teage.
How do they spell it in text?
Do they ever?
Weird.
They never text it.
I've never seen it in text.
A-G-E.
What if you voiced the text Age?
L-A-G-E.
Yeah, there it is.
I was in there.
I was in there.
Let the algorithm figure it out. Let the algorithm figure it out.
Let the AI figure it out.
They would, by the way.
Jage.
What?
What's your problem, dude?
This cracks me up.
I look like an idiot right now.
I literally look like Zach Morris or some stupid.
Whoa.
Zach Morris is an idiot right now. I literally look like Zack Morris or some stupid... Whoa! Zack Morris is an idiot.
Zack's a legend.
Yeah, 1990.
I look like a great 1990s character right now.
Yeah, you're out of the movie.
It's pretty sweet.
That's what we were referencing earlier.
And with that tree behind you.
I'm going to flip my chair around.
Travis Kelsey looks like Jonathan Taylor Thomas
in Home Improvement this weekend with his outfit.
I did see the hair, though.
The hair was flowing, and he did have the shirt and shorts combo there.
Hey, no one out pizzas the Hut, brother.
There's no throwback.
I mean, I'm in the middle of it right now.
Did you see Berkeley this weekend?
Did you see that crowd?
Used to deliver for them.
Nobody out pizzas the Hut.
Used to deliver for Pizza Hut?
Oh, yeah.
So they make NFL superstar Hall of Famers as well?
Had no idea.
Holy fuck.
Jage learned his work ethic from delivering pies for the greatest pie shop in town, Pizza Hut.
No one out pizzas the Hut?
No one out works here.
I think Montana did the same.
Holy shit.
What was your order?
I left Central Michigan.
Wow.
I had a six-month break where I was going to a local community college,
worked at Pete's Hut delivering pies, and then I walked down to Wisconsin.
Massive piece of the story.
Holy shit.
And that's why, ladies and gentlemen, no one, and we mean no one, out pizzas the Hut.
I love that.
AQ Shipley has a question for you, Jage.
Yeah, J.J., let's talk a little bit about.
Jage!
You live in his neighborhood. J a question for you, Jage. Yeah, J.J., let's talk a little bit about it. Jage! You live in his neighborhood.
Jage, Jage, Jage.
Talk a little bit about the Cardinals.
Big win over the San Francisco 49ers.
Defense was not Swiss cheese.
Made a big play at the end.
What did you see that Gannon brought on that second play of the last drive
that made that play and Jalen Thompson get home?
I mean, you're asking me
about a very specific play in the game
that I was...
Figure it out, James!
What a...
You're not playing the game!
You want to protect or not?
James is playing the game!
You act like
I got the plays pulled up from the game.
The second player, the third driver, the fourth
player. No, the fourth player.
No, I'm sorry.
I don't have that moment.
That's unbelievable.
I mean, it only ended the game.
This guy isn't prepared.
This guy is not prepared.
And you're fucking coming with the high-level analysis.
He's pissed because I forgot to call him back. He called me.
I was on an interview, and I said, I'll call you back. And I didn't call him back. And then it was too long for forgot to call him back. He called me, and I was on an interview, and I said, I'll call you back, and I didn't call him back.
And then it was too long for me to call him back.
I think he was trying to get me.
I was watching film when I called you.
That exact moment.
You would have seen that play from his iPad via FaceTime.
But you had to do an interview.
Jeez Louise.
Oh, my God.
Jade, call the guy back.
Well, they sent a linebacker and Jalen Thompson both through the B gap.
Backs guy.
One comes free.
Hits Purdy.
Jades, you knew the answer.
I wanted to see what you saw from a defensive perspective.
Jades, you should have heard the shit he led us to earlier with Aaron.
He led to a 235, 2-I, fucking three out.
Five on five.
That was good.
Yeah, it was great.
I mean, like 50 people.
It was good for a very small portion of the society.
I actually enjoyed that conversation,
but I think there were a lot of people
that might take a short nap during that moment.
Good news.
Tone Diggs just relayed the message
that we have pulled that from the...
I don't have it.
We do not have it.
Son of a bitch.
Okay, we do not have it. We of a bitch. We do not have it.
We'll get to that next week.
Gotta do it again, Cardinals. Gotta do it again.
Oh, he's about to throw it up on his phone.
Let's not zoom in on it.
Zero points in the second half, man.
13-point deficit, zero points in the second half.
Three takeaways. I mean, James Connors
77 yards rushing in the second half
after only nine in the first half. That's what it was.
They played very good defense defense and they ran the ball
and they just took it away
but with you, last week
you called them Swiss cheese, not me, I didn't call them that
but it's just kind of bouncing
up and down right now with those performances
can they do it back to back? Also on the flip side
49ers have to be considered
possibly the biggest
disappointment of the season so far
compared to what people expect them to be.
Jeez, I agree.
I'm bummed out.
Compared to what?
I'm bummed out about it.
Bengals too.
I mean, they put on a hell of a performance against the Patriots.
You've got to think about that.
And the Jets, obviously.
But, like, I am bummed out about what is happening with the Niners,
personally, as a massive fan of it,
especially with all the distractions that led into the season
and how it's going.
I assume they'll get it right, though. That's what I assume with the Niners. The Beng as a massive fan of it, especially with all the distractions that led into the season and how it's going. I assume they'll get it right
though. That's what I assume with the Niners.
The Bengals, though.
One and four. I expected a lot from
them as well because wide receiver, we assume
with Jamar Chase, everything that happened
during the preseason, plug and play,
they know each other inside out. He has two touchdowns.
He goes bananas this weekend.
T. Higgins scores a touchdown. They can't stop
anybody on the defensive side of the ball.
I think we're all very surprised and disappointed with the Bengals as well, right?
I mean, that would certainly be up there because I had high hopes for Cincinnati.
And Burrow had his whole program.
I mean, we all had the AFC North, obviously, as always one of the top,
if not the top division in football.
And I think the Bengals and the Browns were both figuring to play heavily
into that equation.
They haven't so far.
I would say that right now the NFC North is probably taking over the top
division in football at the moment.
Any disagreements there?
No.
Good football.
All winning records.
No disagreement.
All right.
Good talk.
Good talk.
Well, we thought you were going to continue to go.
All in favor?
All opposed?
No.
Yeah, everybody said, yeah, you're right.
And then you said, get a shot of me right here.
Just like I fucking said.
I was right.
Right, you are brilliant.
You look awesome.
Look at you on the big board here.
You can't.
Gotta have good periphery.
Look how sweet you look.
Not yet.
Look how sweet you look.
Oh, my God. he's in a movie.
Guy's in a movie.
New Superman.
All right, J.H., hey, we appreciate the hell out of you, man.
Have an incredible week.
Are you on TV this weekend or no?
I am.
I will be on CBS this Sunday.
You guys got any questions you want?
We do a little segment where we toss out a question from the fans.
You guys got a question you want answered?
Anybody got any burning topics on the National Football League?
God, H.
Jage, can you tell us who you're voting for and why?
Okay.
That's not a question.
All right, Jage.
We appreciate it.
We will.
How's it going, guys?
The connection's getting crazy out here.
How about this?
I can't hear you.
What?
No, yeah, you can hear us.
You're coming through perfectly clear.
Crystal.
Crystal.
Yeah, we can actually see you better now than we have for the last 10 minutes.
Everything, this service is perfect, I think.
You can hear us?
I can hear you.
Yeah, we're stuck.
I didn't hear AJ, but I heard everything else.
Yeah, of course.
We should do the, we should do a hashtag, ask JJ.
I got a good one, too.
We'll do that.
We'll do that.
We'll do a hashtag, ask JJ, starting next week. And then we'll do that we'll do hashtag ask JJ starting next week and then we'll do
crowd
supplied questions
great love it
I can't wait to hand pick that one
because it's probably going to sound a lot like what AJ's question was
and it will be randomly selected
obviously but we'll try our best
JJ the man have a great weekend
we'll watch you on CBS
thanks guys have a good one.
Hashtag AskJJ. You want to get
a good question in early.
Hashtag AskJJ.
It should be great. Look at this man.
The letter's J.J.? No,
AskJJ. A-S-K
J-A-G-E.
AskJJ.
And your question could be asked to that
superhero, that superhero,
that icon, that nature man.
J.J. Watt.
All right, you're the best.
Ladies and gentlemen, J.J. Watt. See that sky?
See that tree?
The lake?
Good lake.
You got to go down a bit to get to that lake.
It's a massive hill.
Yeah, I think he's got good view of that lake.
He's got probably up on top of a cliff.
He probably has one of those fucking lookout towers on the top of his house, too.
Yeah, bingo, he just runs down from there, and then he actually repels down the cliff.
Yeah.
Night, night, night, night, night, night, night, night.
Then he fucking out, doesn't he? Yeah.
AQ might be doing the same thing.
I feel like AQ definitely has all that.
He has had a Navy SEAL shirt on every time he has arrived
at the Thunderdome this year, so we assume he can
tie knots, rappel, do all those
things. Not 100% sure he went
through BUDS, but he does have the merch
which I appreciate. I do training missions in my house
at least three times a week

These things beat my ass.
Just beat my ass.
I couldn't figure it out.
It was all over.
But it is a great day to be talking about sports.
That's A.J. Hawk.
The Talks at the Table is here at Boston Corner and Darius J sports. That's A.J. Hawk. The Toxic Table is here at Boston Corner.
And Darius J. Butler.
Hell yeah.
Whoa.
Okay.
Dee Botch, good to see you at the Toxic Table.
Cool over here.
You feel cooler over there?
I feel cooler over here.
Yeah.
Congrats.
Yeah, we're pretty cool over here.
Oh, we're pretty chipper for 0-1.
Are you talking about the Boston Bruins?
Yeah, bro.
Oh, my gosh.
Oh, my gosh. It's like we finished off. Who beat the Boston Bruins? Yeah, the Boston Bruins. It's like we finished off.
Who beat the Boston Bruins? The Florida Panthers.
Defended champs on banner night. No big deal.
Wow. So what happened to, I heard, Packed Barn?
Was it close? It looked
a little closer than it actually was.
What is it? 6-4?
6 goals? Yeah. Jumped out 4-1
first period. Yeah. Absolute shellacking
on the ice. Enjoy it. Enjoy it because when
Swayman comes back, we score four goals. We're winning
every single fucking game. So that's all I saw.
Yeah, Swayman got paid,
but he didn't have any preseason, so they
did not have him starting a net in Banner Night
4. The Florida Panthers,
Boston Bruins, puck drop
on the season. And shout out
to Sunrise Florida. You know,
they're calling it Hockey Town, obviously. They're calling
it a Hockey Town, okay? They're calling it a Hockey Town.
Because of them
winning last year.
I will say,
during the playoff run,
they were an awesome
barn to watch.
Last night,
sold out.
And first time
full sellout,
right, all season?
Yep, full sellout
on the season tickets
for the first time.
This is obviously
our 31st year in existence.
So, back-to-back
finals appearances,
hopefully we'll make it
three and back-to-back
championships down there
in Sunrise. What's the bar? The Elbow Room? Oh, yeah. Is the Elbow Room So, you know, back-to-back finals appearances, hopefully we'll make it three, and back-to-back championships down there in St. Ross.
What's the bar, the Elbow Room?
Oh, yeah.
Is the Elbow Room packed out every single night?
Got a lot of pub.
I couldn't tell you.
I couldn't tell you much about the Elbow Room.
Really?
You've never been to the Elbow Room?
I couldn't tell you much about the place.
But good spot.
What's that?
It's a good spot.
I've heard.
It's a good spot.
Great spot.
It is a –
But a tease and tease for everybody down there in Florida right now.
You know, it's supposed to hit today and tomorrow.
Not necessarily where, you know, southeast Florida where sunrise is,
but the west side.
It should be pretty scary.
So hopefully, you know, everyone's safe and evacuate if you're in the evacuation zone.
Obviously, you're a South Florida native and resident.
Florida and hurricanes are just like a part.
I mean, Miami hurricanes.
It's part of it.
This one, though, if the things I'm seeing on the internet are factual,
which are seemingly coming from meteorologists
and weather people and storm chasers,
they're saying this one's...
They just put a blob of
purple on the screen, and we're like,
this is the most powerful thing ever, and it's
coming right towards Tampa Bay.
Once you start seeing Category 4s,
Category 5s, those are the. Yeah, once you start seeing Category 4s, Category 5s,
you know, those are the scariest ones.
And you start to see, like, you know, meteorologists
who have been on TV for long, long times, you know,
we've seen people be emotional, crying, you know,
pleading with people to leave.
Because if you're a Floridian, you've been down in there
for 10, 15, 20 years, you've seen some bad ones.
So a lot of our parents or, like, grandparents are like,
I'm not leaving. I'll be all right.
Oh, it's like a part of the... Yeah, so it's kind of tough to get you know especially older
people out of because it's tough to get people out of their homes but um i think it's the safest
and smartest decision but if you do stay you know hunker down and um you know like once again
thoughts and prayers definitely with everyone down there they i saw the traffic going out of a bridge
out of tampa yeah out of tampa it was like one bridge in one bridge out it looked like independence day that's yeah that it's crazy how quick shit can kind of turn
to like almost like a third world country because everybody's gassing up you're not only gassing up
your vehicles you got 10 cans of uh you know gas tanks of power generators and other things so
you know on every corner gas station out of gas so now imagine you got to evacuate you got a quarter
tank of gas and you got to sit on the highway for an hour two hours you can run out of gas. Now imagine you got to evacuate. You got a quarter tank of gas. You got to sit on the highway
for an hour, two hours.
You can run out of gas on the highway.
It's definitely a situation
down there. That traffic
looked like four, five, six, seven hours.
It was...
They had a helicopter, which I've been
seeing
helicopters on videos
in North Carolina. I don't know what's going on with that whole thing.
There's a lot of shit I'm seeing.
I don't understand completely.
And I saw, you know, whatever.
But this stuff looks very scary.
This is obviously one of the highways on the way out of there of Tampa.
There's some bridged areas of Tampa, obviously, to get out.
I mean, it's a positive vibe for everybody down there.
But I don't know anything about storms or the storm, but everything
I've read and heard is this is
a big one. Fourth biggest ever.
Ever. That's what I saw.
And it followed up. If it's as big as
they think, right?
Hopefully it doesn't get there, right?
Sometimes they get taken away out to sea and stuff.
Yeah, sometimes they slow down, I think.
The reason why the one that ended up hitting
Nashville and Georgia and was so devastating there is because it remember uh it hit it met
a another storm and they kind of combined perfect storm situation thrown towards atlanta allegedly
off the shore so i guess with the way this one is cooking with the the winds and what is potentially
going to happen with jet streams and i guess they're saying this one is going to go where
it's coming from it's like you know when the waters are like super warm that's when it gets
more and more powerful and obviously it once it hits land that's when it starts to lose the power
but the storm surges on that west coast i think they're saying like up to 15 feet crazy like
tampa like you know pensacola area so obviously that's very very very scary did you see that uh
it hit the group text that guy was in a green screen room yeah yeah yeah exactly the man cgi first of all technology phenomenal i don't know how they're but to like
get a a grasp of what's about to happen this video who was this can we give credit to the
weather channel look at this sort of green screen i'd assume is where this guy's standing but the
way they're able to get like 3D depth on top of this, too.
He goes from three feet, and then I think he goes to six feet, then he goes to nine feet.
And it kind of like engulfs everything and talks about what life is like with the storm surge,
which is just the ocean showing up, right?
Yeah.
It's just the ocean showing up on land.
Yep.
And allegedly, everything south of where this one's going to go is potentially going to get hit with storm surge.
But they're saying 15 feet potential storm surge.
That's six feet there, obviously.
I think he's lying about how tall he is.
That's probably about five.
No, I'm not.
There's no reason for me to do that.
No reason for me to do that at this time right here.
But nonetheless, that thing gets up there all the way to nine feet, ten feet.
It's like, I mean, that's what it becomes.
House is getting taken into the ocean then.
I mean, there's whole buildings and houses going.
Yeah, not like just, you know, sitting still water.
Like, it's going.
Obviously, you got hurricane wind.
Look at that wind.
Yeah, and then look at the angle.
It gets up on top of this.
This is why I think this is so impressive.
I don't know if it's just a green screen because then you have the depth of this all the way down there.
But it's like you can see how, with this devastation, what ends up happening.
Like, the other side, there those North Carolina things we're seeing,
roads gone, like buildings wiped out.
It's like this is scary shit.
Mother Nature.
And, hey, we're pulling for all you down there.
Stay safe.
And if we can be the doofuses on a screen that can make you be distracted
a little bit from it all because it's not just when it happens, obviously.
Then it's the months and years afterwards.
That's the worst part.
Imagine having no power trying to rebuild like everything's gone soaked like yeah d-butt have you ever had to
evacuate down there uh no we've never evacuated um yeah i can't think of any and i've been since
18 i've been pretty much gone for a lot of them because it's football season you know hurricane
season football season so went off to college to connect. So, you know, it's a shitty situation.
You can't be home sometimes.
But I haven't – Irene was bad.
Hurricane Andrew was really, really bad.
I remember being that when we were young.
And when you're a kid, it's kind of like almost – it sounds crazy,
but it's almost like fun.
It's like we're in a house.
You see the crazy winds, the lightning.
No school.
You get in the eye of the storm, and it's literally just quiet, just calm, cool,
nothing going on.
Then 30, 45, an hour later, here's the other side coming through. So it's literally just quiet just calm cool nothing going on in 30 45 hour later here's
the other side coming through so it's scary man uh i think 2000 if your house was built after like
2004 there were different you know different regulations you had to pass you got to impact
windows on most homes you put shutters up you know to kind of protect your homes you lose the power
is always a thing especially if you you know have medicine that you have in the refrigerator and older people have to have things plugged up.
So getting a generator is important.
They aren't easy.
Obviously, they aren't cheap.
Definitely important, at least to power certain parts of your home.
But, yeah, it's scary, man.
It's intense.
Especially if they're talking about like 15 feet of just blood.
Yeah, that is bad.
Like I said, it was, I want to say a meteorologist, been on TV for like 30 years in Florida, and he was like emotional,
like hard to keep it together, saying like.
That devastation.
And then on the flip side of it, we've seen this before,
and then it hits and it's not that bad.
So a lot of people are like, oh, yeah, whatever.
You know, I've been here for however long.
But I'm personally, you know, you take everyone serious.
You don't know.
You know, obviously only takes one.
I do appreciate the fact, though, that Florida people people that's like a badge of honor almost like i'm
florida man i'm leaving yeah florida man florida woman like i'm not i heard about this 30 years
ago too the big one was coming we'll see guess what i did i sat right here the whole time what
did ned do smoked a cig sat right there that's legit and it's like no no no this one bigger
did you see the blob
on the screen?
You're like,
I bet.
Some people are like that.
Oh, yeah.
I think that's why
all these people
get so emotional.
For sure.
Because they know
that their message
that they're sending
is not going to land
with some people.
And they seemingly
have a real fear
that this one
is about to do
some real wreck.
And following up
what just happened,
Southeast,
hey, pulling for you.
Come on.
We donated
to hopefully help in recovery,
and we will obviously continue to follow every storm that comes through
and continue to help.
But, man, pulling for you all.
One half of the hammer.
Dad.
Cowboys AP Tone is here.
I saw you put a baseball hat on in the last segment with J.J. Watt.
Did you guys see that?
I did.
It was cool.
Backwards.
It looked really cool.
It looked sweet.
You looked great.
You looked fit, too.
I didn't like it.
You looked good.
I didn't like it. It looks sweet. You look great. I didn't like it. You look good. I didn't like it.
It didn't feel right.
How come?
They got country musicians wearing backwards hats all the time.
It's Parker McCollum.
Bingo.
Yeah, I don't agree with them doing that either.
Whoa, Parker.
Oh, jeez.
What the hell?
It's not just Parker.
I mean, if you want to.
There's a lot of country guys wearing hats now.
Yeah.
Like just baseball hats.
Yeah, I don't agree with it.
I mean.
You don't agree with any of them.
I mean, if you.
There's like 30 guys that just popped up in the head. I mean, if sure. Just baseball. Yeah, I don't agree with it. You don't agree with any of them. There's like 30 guys that just popped up in my head.
I mean, sure, if you want to play a
character and put your baseball hat on and act like
you're not a country artist, that's
fine. Sure. So you're saying these guys
deep in the sticks of Mississippi
that come out and sing country
music. Listen, if it's in our blood, put the hat on.
Okay? With the cowboy hat. Our blood.
Bullshit.
I'm talking like a true cowboy.
How dare these guys play a character. Thank you, AJ. cowboy hat. Our blood. Bullshit. I spoke like a true cowboy. How dare these guys.
Thank you, AJ.
Jesus Christ.
Pittsburgh.
Yeah, what are we talking about?
Shaboosie had a hell of a performance last night.
He had boots on.
He had boots on.
He didn't have any hat on.
No, he didn't.
Had the bottoms.
I'll tell you what.
I liked that Shaboosie went and performed,
and then he stayed for the whole game
and was hanging out with Gary Bettman, I guess.
Shaboosie seemingly is the right guy that kind of got famous overnight
and had an absolute banger.
Does Shabuzy still enjoy singing that song?
That one, I don't know.
Yeah, funny enough, he's got other really good songs.
He's got another banger.
Full album.
Yeah, I just don't know if people care.
Very good.
Yes.
And it's like, one comes Two to three To the four
And one
And four
He's gotta be sick of it
Has to be
Yeah
Not sick of it
But he gets
He knows
Hey this put me on the map
But also
I appreciate this
How about this other stuff
Yeah
And he obviously
Incredible human
Great performance last night
But as he was
Performing
All I can think in my head is
How many times
has Shibuzy sang that song
in the last three months?
500,000.
Legit. Every time. Because I assume
at the beginning, they were booking him probably
he's probably everywhere. All over.
Hey, you're at this festival, you're on
Thursday, early night, late night
you're at this particular club or theater
you're doing this, you're doing this at this meet and greet, you're going to this radio station to perform, you're at this particular club or theater, you're doing this, you're doing this at this meet and greet,
you're going to this radio station to perform, you're doing this.
That's the country music world.
So the fact that he went out and just did it last night,
obviously we're thankful for.
But the way he handled the entire – look at Utah, by the way.
Packed out.
Packed out for opening night.
They're going to be a great home to an NHL team.
And then he sticks around, does it all.
Shout out to Shabuzy.
Shout out to Shabuzy.
And shout out to the man joining us now who's about to
take us home. Ladies and gentlemen, each week
this year, we've got an opportunity to hear
a couple takeaways from a man who's a
Super Bowl champion and also learn who he
thinks are the top five performing
offensive lines. Ladies and gentlemen,
it's time for AQ Shipley's Talking Points
from Week 5 in Top 5 of Lines. Performing offense aligns. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for AQ Shipley's talking points from week five
in top five aligns.
Here we go.
What are some talking points, AQ?
Shout out to week five.
The first one, we got Dexter Lawrence.
And I said he is dominant.
He is dominant.
He's off to a historical start of this season.
Six sacks and 20 pressures already.
As a nose guard.
This is insane to watch.
But he has a three-piece against the Seattle Seahawks this past week.
Got them hacked?
Yeah.
That's what they played like, huh?
Three and two.
I mean, they got worked by Dexter Lawrence.
Let's take a look at these.
First one, he just manipulates the center shoulder.
Watch this.
Get off, forklift, see you later.
Sack.
That's a nose guard, boys.
That is a nose guard.
That's 345 pounds right there.
What is a nose guard supposed to do?
Not supposed to get sacks.
They're supposed to be in.
Look, he's in a two-gap stance.
He's reading and playing the run right now.
That's all he's trying to do.
But he swims because Connor Williams jumps him, beats the guard,
beats the chip, and gets another sack.
High motor on Sexy Daxie in there.
Now we take a look at the third one.
The guy he's going against is also a grown man that gets paid in the NFL.
Uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh.
Right into him.
Third sack of the day.
Three-piece for Dexter Lawrence.
Incredible.
Six through the first five weeks.
Three, obviously, in the last game.
And then three spread out through the first four.
Historic run for a nose guard.
It's insane.
I mean, these guys are meant to stop the run.
Two-gap.
Hold guys. A.J. loves these guys, meant to stop the run, two gap, hold guys.
AJ loves these guys, right?
They're the guys that keep the guys off the linebackers.
Aaron Donald, D-tackle, not nose tackle.
That's correct.
He would line up three tech.
He changed the game.
JJ would go in and three technique, change the game,
because now you get quicker, faster on a guard, right?
And so these guys, they're playing over the center.
Every once in a while, he'll move out over the guard,
but most of his work is done over the center.
That'll be Dexter Lawrence.
How about the Giants?
How about the Giants
making an appearance?
Sexy Dexy D-Boy. Let's do it.
D-Boy? We got an AP voter right here.
Sell him. He's in the run.
He's in the run.
He gets 20 and a half sacks as a nose guard.
He better get it.
Oh, yeah. I mean, 20 and a half.
That's what he's on pace for.
There's a guy getting an interception every game, yeah. I mean, 20. I mean, that's what he's on pace for. We're a long way. I mean, that's what he's on pace for.
There's a guy getting an interception every game, too.
If he gets 20 interceptions a game, Fran's pretty good.
Yeah, that's pretty good.
You probably hate those guys, don't you?
I do.
They don't play in the trenches.
Yeah, sexy Dexys doing it.
They just get you the ball back.
Yeah, you're right.
You're right.
Pass their turn.
D-Butt doesn't like to disrespect the cornerbacks there on the defensive side of the ball.
Dexter Lawrence, dominant, is one talking point.
What's the next talking point coming out of week five?
C.J. Stroud, some of these throws.
Now, listen, we saw the one where he throws it deep for 65 and a tutty
and does this whole thing.
Regular.
Yeah, that's regular.
That's what he does.
Let's take a look at some of these throws.
They're ridiculous.
The view of this is insane.
If we can pause this.
Keep going.
Pause it right there.
I mean, he put that just out in front of the DB.
Perfect pass slide.
From the other angle, it looks like he goes through the DB.
We don't have the other angle,
but it looks like he literally goes through that DB,
and he makes that catch.
First play that he has.
Second play, the protection here.
This is third and 10, a minute and 50 left.
If we can go back to the beginning here real quick,
I'll talk through this real quick.
See 43 over the center? He's trying to engage that center to keep him from sliding.
Two steps. Keeps him from sliding. Now the center. Push on 57. Push the left guard out. CJ trusts the
whole thing. Gets the ball out third and 10, minute 50 left. Big time play and they get down. Obviously
end up going on to win this game. This play is ridiculous. We get play action.
We got the tight end right here on the defensive
end. Gets beat a little bit. CJ steps
up. D-tackle in his face.
Gets hit between four people.
This dude's a real deal.
A real deal.
He can't even finish his arm motion
because D-tackle looping right in his face
between four. Perfect pass.
Jeez.
Everybody's talking about the Buffalo Bills and their demise.
Maybe they just ran into C.J. Stroud.
Maybe they ran into C.J. Stroud down there.
He's phenomenal at the ball.
Oh, he's so good.
Has been since he got there.
Unbelievable.
Some of these plays, too, you talk about the trust of the offensive line
and then getting into the – putting his face in a fan
and having his arm potentially be broke.
The precision he has with everything is stupid.
You can't teach that. You can't coach that.
His leadership, his maturity. When he comes on this show,
everything he says is perfect.
That's why they need to get his ass out of here.
They need to train him out of the AFC South AQ.
He might be the one, huh?
He's pretty good. These other guys are pretty good we're about to talk
about as well. Who's that?
We've got Lamar Jackson, Jaden Daniels, and Kyler Murray.
They are extending plays and making plays as we will see here Jackson, Jaden Daniels, and Kyler Murray. They are extending plays and making
plays as we will see here. The first
play, we got Kyler Murray. Now, first of all, your
tackles hate the fact that he drifts back to 15
yards because you have no idea. Parrish Johnson
keeps setting back. Can't even
get to the defensive end, but fadeaway throw up.
Fourth down, complete to Marvin Harrison Jr.
Ridiculous play, just extending enough
and getting the ball out. You live in Arizona.
You cover them very closely. You could call out one
specific play to Jage, and Jage didn't know
what it was. Kyler playing good ball right now.
That's a big-time win, obviously, for them. Are they going to continue
to do that? He's playing very good.
Exactly what J.J. said. They have to be more
consistent on defense because they're continuously
scoring on offense. They just have to
get the defense aside playing with them. That a baby, Kyler!
Oh, yeah.
That's right. We got Lamar Jackson
on the next play. This play is unbelievable. He fumbles
the snap, which he did twice in this game, just taking
his eyes off it. Gets it.
Stiff arm. Get off me. Nope. Get off me. Nope.
Get off me. Fall away. Out of bounds.
Back across to likely
for the touchdown. These plays
don't happen. These are
anomalies, and we're just seeing
three of them in a week that
you just don't see. You just
do not see. This one's even more ridiculous.
You got a pressure coming off
his right side. Boom, boom, boom.
Three guys. That's a sack.
80%, 90% of the quarterbacks.
Then we just throw it perfect 90
yards downfield. This is ridiculous.
Jaden Daniels is a guy. It's ridiculous.
Jaden Daniels is a guy. Obviously, Scary Terry
is a massive asset, but
they and what they're doing
offensively have to feel
so good about having the number two overall
pick. That's right. Now, obviously, Caleb's playing good
ball, and he's back to winning. Congrats to the
Bears. Look like they have it figured out.
But Jaden with Cliff Kingsbury, seemingly
a perfect fit. Dan Quinn obviously has
a head coach, great culture.
They've been able to do something that only the Houston Texans were able to do
last year so quickly in turning a building around.
Jaden's a guy.
He's a guy.
I mean, even that play right there,
like those are two go routes on the opposite side of the field.
And whenever your receivers see that, it starts to extend.
And now you cut towards them.
Scramble drill.
Scramble drill.
You just try and find a way to get open.
This was unbelievable. I mean, right in stride.
The ball. That throw was crazy. Ridiculous.
He's good at the football.
Cliff Kingsbury back in his bag.
I appreciate the hell out of that.
Those were the three talking points.
Backyard football, we got sexy Dexy,
and we got
being a guy against everybody
and needing to get traded out of the AFC South.
Let's go to the top five performing offensive lines.
Ladies and gentlemen, let's go in the trenches with AQ Shipley.
Number five.
Number five, the Houston Texans.
I want to give these guys a little bit of love because, listen,
it's not all about running the football as an offensive line.
They've been without Mixon.
They've been without Pierce.
They've had guys.
This run play is awesome that I'm going to show,
but the fact that they're able to protect the way they have,
as we just saw on the talking point,
and do what they've been able to do to allow CJ to get the ball down the field
is a big reason why they're number five this week.
But let's take a look at this.
We get a little wind back counter draw action,
and they also catch the Buffalo Bills as they're
trying to rock and roll the safeties, which
also helps. But this play design is awesome.
We start everything to the right. You see the fullback,
the tailback, everybody going right. Let's watch the center
pancake the shit out of number 90. Put him
on the ground. Tunsell comes down, big Tunsell.
Puts everybody, walls it off. Fullback
cuts behind it all. Boom.
As we go to the end zone.
Sick play. Really sick play.
Great execution. Great design. That's exactly right.
Slowick, he's going to be head coach.
Great timing for that.
You see DeMar come down in the box to the
left here. They wind
it back away from him. They also fire
39 and Shaq Mason, right guard, being
a veteran, he just kind of invites him in the B
gap. Hangs on, hangs on, hangs on. And then boom.
Just walls it off right at the perfect time.
It's awesome.
Awesome stuff.
Filling in for Joe Mixon, too.
That's right.
Late rock and roll.
Who's the number four performing offensive line from week five?
Let's go to the desert with the Arizona Cardinals.
We obviously saw this play.
This play is obviously making its rounds on the highlight reel.
But let's take a look.
You've got Will Hernandez.
Shout out to Will Hernandez.
He's probably been playing the best as their offensive line.
Gets a gruesome knee injury.
He's out for the year.
But I want to just give a little shout to him.
He's been phenomenal as this Cardinals offensive line has been really good.
Let's also take a look at number 87, Tip Ryman.
Tip Ryman.
What a name.
Tip. T-I-P. Big tip. Tip Ryman. What a name. Tip.
T-I-P.
Big Tip.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
T-I-P.
He's a rookie out of Illinois.
Let's watch.
So, Bosa is going to be the crash guy.
Like, he has to handle the handoff.
So, as he crashes to take this handoff, Tip throws him and then climbs on another Hall of Famer.
Warner gets the seal block as we get the kick out by 84.
And Kyler's putting the deuces up five yards into this run,
knowing, see you boys, I'm out.
Tip.
Yeah.
Boom.
Look at that.
And they just wall everything off.
They just wall everything off.
And right there, he knows he's gone.
He's about to go yell at the crowd.
He got his top laid back there.
85 with a big block as well in space.
That's right.
You got both
tight ends handle Mike and Sam to the strong side.
You get the kick out on the corner and then
Hufanga filled on the
fake handoff and it's
to the races. Free safety, you got to get him down.
I don't know where he's running. But that part
of that is Kyler Murray being
5'8 and you can't see him until he
pops out sometimes. But having nine guys in the box
against 13 personnel, guy goes untouched for 50, that's tough. He's bigger than 5'8. Well you can't see him until he pops out sometimes. But having nine guys in the box against 13 personnel,
a guy goes untouched for 50, that's tough.
He's bigger than 5'8". Well, it's also not the height he said earlier.
I mean, if you watch Ufonga, his eyes,
like he doesn't even know Kyler kept this for a good three yards
after the fake handoff.
He comes down.
He's looking at Connor this entire time.
Watch this.
And boom, fake the handoff.
Ufonga thinks he's got the ball.
He's filling.
He's filling.
He still thinks he has the ball.
He's still filling.
Can't see it.
He's still filling.
Still filling.
Still filling.
Oh, shit.
Yeah.
Too late.
Gone.
Gone.
Gone.
Jeez.
Yep.
Kyler's talking to shit, too.
That's good to see.
All right.
Who's the number three performing offensive line from week five?
Might be one of the top two offensive lines in football right now.
Didn't have their best week, but still had a very good week.
The Baltimore Ravens are at number three.
They have been a steady piece on this group, on this unit, all year long.
And let's take a look at this.
This is really awesome.
So we get Stanley with a nice combo up to 57.
The key to having a fullback in this offense is it allows angles at the next level.
You're never out leveraged.
Now he's able to combo up to 57 and also take 57 into Bell, the safety.
But here's the key.
We get the crackback block on Trey Hendrickson on the outside here, right?
So Tylan Wallace gets beat over the top.
Oh, shit.
Don't panic.
Leave him for Ricard.
Hey, you take mine.
Now I got to hustle my ass off and get the kick out on 29.
Boom.
And then you get Derrick Henry, 51 yards, game, set, match, and overtime.
Okay.
So that's like the most important play of the game for them there.
Obviously, the bobbled hold was before this.
And they're audibling on the fly pretty much.
That means everybody's in sync seeing the play the exact same way.
I love when you see this because a lot of times when you get beat,
you panic and you just kind of stand there.
It's like, no, no, this play's still going.
Let's hustle.
Let's get on something.
Hustle, as we'll see again later, brings the big block
and springs it to the end.
Okay, so he's supposed to take somebody.
He gets beat by that person.
My guy, Ricard's got my back.
Let me go pick up Ricard's guy.
That's right.
Big time run.
Let's go win the game.
That's right.
Jeez.
Ravens are a real deal.
Yeah, they're rolling.
They're doing everything.
Ravens are cooking right now.
Quote the Raven.
Never more.
Who's the?
Edgar Allen Poe.
Yeah.
And he's sick, motherfucker, man.
He is sick.
Twisted.
It's crazy, dude.
One of the sickest fucks I've ever seen.
Edgar Allen Poe?
Yeah.
He's dark.
He's dark shit, man.
Devontae posted him on his Instagram.
Yeah, that's right.
I think that Devontae is going to turn on his sickness and go over to Baltimore.
It's going to be a sick fuck for them.
You think so?
Yeah, he's going to be a sick fuck.
What if he was a sick fuck like Edgar Allen Poe and said,
you know what, they just fired their head coach.
I want to go to that situation.
See, once again, that'd be the sickest fucking move ever.
So it's like maybe he does go to the Jets.
And maybe he sees Hayner, what he was doing in his photos before the season
and his little submarine sidearm that he did on Monday Night Football.
Holy fuck, I want to be a sick fuck with Hayner.
That was sick. Hayner to be a sick fuck with Hainer. That was sick.
Hainer looks like a sick fuck.
I could go be a sick, dark, twisted fuck with Hainer.
You think that's what he meant when he posted Edgar Allen Poe, right?
Yeah, I think he just meant, like,
I'm going to turn into a sick motherfucker for the rest of the year.
I'm going to be the darkest fucking sickest fuck ever.
There's a much darker situation.
He could go to the Steelers' offense.
No chance.
No.
He don't want that.
No, that's what I mean.
If you want to be the sickest motherfucker around
and want to torture yourself, go into the offense.
That's a different sickness.
He's not down with that sickness.
Come on, come on.
He's not down with that sickness.
You know Edgar Allen Poe stuff?
Of course, of course.
But the sickest move would be going up to New England.
That would be sick. New quarterback,
rookie quarterback, back-to-back start in
offensive line. Then I fear for
the people in New England because he'd be such a sick
fuck if he went there.
It'd be too much. He'd be the sickest motherfucker
of all time. He might not
be everybody in New England might turn into
a sick fuck. If Devontae goes
there, I worry about Drake May's uncle.
Turn into a fucking sick motherfucker on Sunday.
Ain't going forward.
He'd be the sickest fuck.
Be disgusted.
Dude, up there, it'd be wicked.
He'd be the sickest, wicked fuck.
It would be too much.
Who's number two performing offensive line for week five?
I bet they're.
We would have been saying the same thing about this team.
We would have been saying that a couple weeks ago, but not this week.
No?
The New York Giants.
Couple compliments, Sexy Dexy.
That's right.
They looked good.
And when Daniel Jones was back there and had good protection,
he looked like a quarterback again.
This was good to see.
But let's take a look at this.
This is a beautiful single-back power.
This is awesome.
The whole offensive line did their job.
You get Runyon pulling as we look at it to our left, to his right.
This is a single-back power.
He's got to come around and block number 17.
Linebacker's going to come down and fill it.
You get a nice kick-out block.
Unbelievable deuce block by Elmenior, I think is how you pronounce it.
Elmenior. Elmenior, there it is.
And then, boom, you get an
unbelievable, big,
gaping hole.
And Tracy Jr.
just became a guy before our eyes,
everyone.
Instantly, he probably started the year number three.
He just became number two, and
there's people saying he should get some carries
when Singletary comes back.
Really?
He's got to replace the motor.
Wow.
Bruce, is that what you guys are saying over there?
Yeah, a little bit.
He's electric out of Purdue.
He should probably split carries with Singletary moving forward,
but awesome to see.
Two free agent signings highlighted on In the Trenches.
Not a bad offseason, maybe.
Not a bad.
We saw it. We saw it.
We watched it.
We watched all the decisions that were made over there.
We did.
Had a lot of questions.
Had a lot of doubt from the ownership.
Not as much as in New York, apparently.
No.
For the Jets, I mean.
A lot of doubt from ownership.
Especially in New York.
Jeez Louise.
Are we sure we want to do that?
A lot of that on that Giants.
That's right.
I'm going to be able to sleep.
It's good to see they've got good running backs still.
Amen.
Good to see that.
Okay, let's go to the number one performing offensive line
from week five of the NFL season in the Trenches Award goes to
Washington Commanders.
Whoa!
Unbelievable.
Unbelievable.
First of all, I love this play that we're going to show.
I played for Cliff in 2019, do the math, five years ago.
This was his bread-and-butter run play.
We called it 28-man, and you get man scheme, center guard.
Guard kicks out right there.
Center gets up on the second level.
The reason we do this, nine technique.
We can keep him wide, tight end, fakes him, bluffs him, goes right to the mic.
You get that right now, and then you get the little pitch handoff.
Out in space.
Kick out.
Center around.
Go get him.
Boom.
Make one cut.
And now we go 60 yards.
Wow.
Let's watch this.
Okay?
So we finish this play.
Unbelievable.
Puts a little move in space.
Don't give it away yet.
Don't give it away yet.
I'm not.
Don't give it away yet.
We see the end, right?
Okay.
Now let's go to the wide view.
Let's go to the wide view.
With the motion.
This will make you think that Dan Quinn,
Cliff Kingsbury, and
the culture in Washington,
100% good. This play right
here, what we're about to see. AQ
showed it to me earlier and I said, damn!
That's got to feel good to watch on film and know that that's how
the boys are kind of
operating as commanders this year.
So, we got Zachary's going to motion.
The key to this is he's going opposite where the run play is cliff loves that let's send motion get eye candy going one way
run the play the other way that guy's a decoy he means nothing to this play fake it cool okay you
might affect the backside doesn't matter he's five yards behind the play right we get the hand off
now we're going out the gate he could just shut this play down nope this is why you run to the
ball hustle your ass off 70 yards at the end of this play down. Nope. This is why you run to the ball. Hustle your ass off.
70 yards.
At the end of this play, you'll notice there's a fumble.
Who recovered that ball?
Zacharias.
Damn.
Holy shit.
It's not just him either.
Scary Terry.
They're all fucking.
They're all fucking.
His ass.
Whole team.
It's a whole team.
Yep.
They're all hauling ass.
Not Jason Kelsey.
And that motion, it impacted the free safety.
Because you see it.
His corner turned into the free safety late.
So he was kind of scrambling to get even a good angle on Austin Eckler.
So this could have been a 15, 20-yard gain,
if that's a normal free safety back there.
But that one motion, I can't change the game.
Damn.
And if I know Cliff the way I think I do,
they definitely ran a jet sweep earlier in that game to set that thing up.
Right?
Everything he's doing is setting something up really to come back something later holy hell he goes from the 14 it's crazy to
the opposite 22 moving moving middle of a play this is just second quarter first and 10 don't
worry about it chasing the ball down like that every play matters for the washington commanders
this year congratulations to them on being the number one offensive line that performed out of
week five and shout out to A. Kusch
for taking us in the trenches. Thank you, A. Kusch.
One more note.
Rookie left tackle against Miles Garrett.
Zero sacks, zero pressure.
Who's that? That's for the commanders? Yeah.
Adam Coleman. Wow.
Or Brandon Coleman. Sorry.
BFF still graded Miles 98. Of course.
Of course they do. Good technique.
He's real good. How does that work?
Game ball. Oh, AJ, you're still there. We course they do. Good technique. He's real good. How does that work? Game ball.
Oh, AJ, you're still there. We know about that.
Game ball? Keep it moving.
Alright, AQ. Before we get out of here,
we gotta do a giveaway. Well, at least maybe do a giveaway. Try.
AQ, what are you gonna do?
Are you gonna shoot a basketball and relive those glory
days of high school where you're a western Pennsylvania
Interscholastic Athletic League
Hall of Famer for your high school basketball
ability? You're going to throw a football.
Okay. You say, I'm a football guy.
You know what he said, Kahneman? Yeah, he said, I can go in
the treasures on this day. AQ, any questions
about Pizza Hut
being the best pizza on earth?
No, I love Pizza Hut.
I love it. I think they are the best pizza
base on earth. I mean, that's what it is. How about Dude Wipes? Have you tried the Dunkin' Spice Wipes? No, I love Pizza Hut. I love it. I think they are the best pizza place on earth. I mean, that's what it is.
How about Dude Wipes?
Have you tried the Dumpkin Spice Wipes?
No, but every time you read it, I lose it over and over.
Well, our friends at Dude Wipes have a new scent this fall.
It's called Dumpkin Spice, an excellent addition to the fall season
and available only for a limited time.
Dumpkin Spice Dude Wipes smell glorious and are only available at Target.
If you're going to take a dump, Dumpkin Spice that thing with our friends at Dude Wipes.
Smells great.
You want a cinnamon shit?
Yeah, you do.
Who doesn't?
Get a Dumpkin Spice.
That's it.
You want a little pumpkin flavor?
Ooh.
Dumpkin Spice.
Hell yeah.
And if you don't want to get the D dumpkin out of you and just have a regular ass
not a coffee dude wipes og or rich sure we'll do the trick always get the job done
nailed it it's a bath for your cheeks your ass cheeks every time don't forget the camo ones in
case you're hunting oh my god you won't go out there and kill something make sure you got dude
boom can't even see him bears won't get your dude wipes.
Where are they at?
Right there.
Exactly.
Are you holding something?
Idiot.
I like that it is orange, though, so other hunters can see you as you're walking around
with your dude wipes.
In case they need some.
Bingo.
True.
Let's make sure we're looking out for other hunters' ass cheeks out here.
Okay.
Nobody needs to be walking around chafing their cheeks because they're shitting out
in the woods.
Let dude wipes give you a bath for your ass. Oh, out to dude wipes love you dude now if aq shipley can
make that football into that hoop right over there we'll give one person one person a dumpkin spice
dude wipes nice package and then we'll give 30 people 500 come on q on, A. Cush. For the people. For the ass cheeks!
That was cheeks.
Wow. Dude. That was cheeks.
That throw. Lock in a little.
Keep your elbow in. Kevin O'Connell.
Your lead elbow.
Keep your lead elbow in. Kevin O'Connell.
No, your lead elbow.
You gotta point it at that.
Don't point it. No, no, no.
Keep it tight to your body.
But if it was, it should point.
It should point.
No.
No, no.
Keep it tight.
It should just point from here.
You know why Sam Donald's throwing a ball over the yard?
It's keeping it fucking tight.
Because KOC said keep it tight.
Tight as shit.
Keep it so tight that people would say,
wow, that guy's as sick as Edgar Allan Poe
whenever it comes to keeping his elbow tight.
Edgar Allen Poe is a sick fuck.
So sick, man.
I literally have the Raven tattooed on my back.
Problem.
Yeah, that's because you're sick.
What's that?
Hold on.
So Edgar Allen Poe is because the reason
why you have the Raven tattooed on your back?
Well, I didn't want to get like a logo.
You know, I got the whole story of
my career on my back. Yeah. So I picked
the Raven
from Quoth the Raven, Nevermore.
But isn't that a logo? No, it's from a
book. It's not the Baltimore Ravens
logo. It's in a book. So it's
an actual Raven. Actual Raven.
It says Nevermore underneath it. And what's
the Baltimore
Ravens Raven look like
wow it's an actual like logo of a beak face oh it's a cartoony yeah you know what I mean yeah
you got an actual Raven on yeah yeah did you get a horse with a Colt yeah what'd you get yeah
the flow I got it's like the horseshoes I don't think the flow is in there. Horseshoes are in the eagle's mouth because I went from Philly to Indy.
See what I did there?
Oh.
But wouldn't it be in the eagle's beak?
No.
Talons?
Talons.
Because it's taking you to the Indy.
No, it's carrying with the mouth.
Like it does with a fish.
Like when it catches a fish.
But it eats it.
What did you do for a stealer?
So if you went cold steel worker, pounding steel
because I went Pittsburgh to Indy
pounding horseshoes.
See what I did?
Oh, shit.
That makes sense.
What about the Arizona Cardinals?
Camelback Mountain.
What do you have for Penn State?
What about Penn State? What represents that?
Nothing.
We got some ideas.
I got a couple ideas.
We can...
We don't have to go there.
Yeah, you can put on there, we
want Penn State. Maybe you put ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Yeah, could do like a bar so just you just put a zombie
You can put cocaine zombie nation I like doing that like a little
What about cooking representation? That's what their mascot looks like. What is it cocaine bear?
Let's get to the there's no reason there We're way past that. A whole new Penn State
team.
They're good this year,
huh? You guys really good this year?
5-5. Oh, shit.
It's status quo, right?
Let's get to November.
What's your problem? Why are you such a...
I'm just bringing up
some points.
Just some...
Could have number one versus number two November 2nd, AJ.
Could.
Oh, you go.
That's going to be a good one, isn't it?
He doesn't know.
He has no idea what game that is.
No, he played the Bucs, but I don't care about rankings at that point.
Okay, okay.
You do know that it is Penn State.
I mean, there are three.
Stats are for losers.
Top four on Saturday, brother.
Hey, what's the stats about teams traveling west?
One and seven or something?
Ooh.
Really?
Two time zones.
Not exactly west.
It's just Big Ten teams traveling two time zones.
Okay, because USC traveling east was part of that.
USC, Washington.
Got it, got it, got it.
One and seven.
Indiana goes to UCLA, beats them.
That's the one, I believe.
Shout out to Coach Cignetti.
Thank you, Sig. Thank you, Sig.
Thank you, Sig.
Oregon-Ohio State this weekend is huge.
Two versus three.
Two versus three this weekend.
That's gigantic.
That place is going to be crazy.
Like, yeah, I'm looking forward to watching that one.
Ole Miss-LSU is going to be great.
Are Buckeyes going to travel?
Yeah, there's a bunch of people I know going.
I don't know, though.
As far as the whole, like, the stadium, I don't know. They'll probably have their little chunk, you know going. I don't know, though. As far as the whole stadium, I don't know.
They'll probably have their little chunk.
They probably don't get too many tickets.
Yeah, Oregon's going to sell out their allotment of tickets.
I assume Ohio State will fill up their allotment as well?
Yes, obviously.
Oh, yeah.
People have been playing this one since they put it on the schedule.
We went out there, was that last year or two years ago?
Last year.
Last year we were out there?
Was it last year?
I think it was.
Sabrina made two years ago. I think it was. Sabrina? Maybe two years ago.
I think it was two.
Whatever the case, beautiful.
Trees.
Oh, yeah.
You know, they talk about the trees.
Yeah, Washington was last year.
But that was in Washington.
You're right.
You're right.
Yeah, or it was beautiful out there.
Like, beautiful scenery.
Like, the views and everything was really nice.
Can't wait to get back out there.
Only five hours.
I think five and a half.
That's nice. WVU coal miners uniforms this weekend. Only five hours, I think, five and a half. That's nice.
WVU coal miners uniforms this weekend.
Big one.
Boys are hot.
Let's go.
Iowa State coming to town.
Good luck.
Okay.
Neal's going to win this one.
First ever three-game win streak on the line. Neal's going to win this one.
Let's go, Neal.
Oh, that's good.
Ole Miss LSU, though, to your point, though, Connor, real one.
Yeah, pump.
We got some real.
And then next week, there's big – and then next week there's big.
And next week there's big.
Then next week it's like, here we go.
College football is really taking shape.
The new conference alignments are obviously being displayed even more so.
Oregon-Ohio State, that's a Big Ten game.
That's why it's on NBC there.
SC-Penn State, okay, let's go.
We got some good shit popping off.
Excited about it.
And Texas-Oklahoma, the Red River rivalry,
this is the first year it's an SEC game.
So, you know, it's all going for college football.
Even bigger.
Quinn, back.
Quinn Ewers, I don't know what the reports are.
I know what the information I've been told was.
I don't know if it's public or not.
I think it's out there that he's playing.
All the highlights for the game promo are Quinn Ewers now.
Okay. Quinn's back.
They reported that last week.
Yeah.
Quinn's back. I never know what I'm allowed.
That's why I don't ask anybody questions in the NFL
world because I don't want to know.
I'll find out what everybody else finds out.
We're all playing on the same.
Because then whenever people are like, hey, can I tell you
something? No, I don't want to know.
Unless you want it to get out, don't tell me.
I'm in a microphone three hours every single day and then three on Saturday as well.
And then I think I'm picking up an hour on Sunday as well.
So there's a lot that can happen.
So I would rather know what everybody else does.
But then you have one conversation with Pete Thamel.
And Pete Thamel just knows everything going on everywhere.
And I'm like, Pete, has that been made public?
Not yet. And I'm like, I don't know if you should have told me that. Everything going on everywhere. And I'm like, Pete, has that been made public? Not yet.
And I'm like, I don't
know if you should have told me that. Pete is a weapon.
Oh, yeah. Pete's got it all. How about this year?
Real mocks you out of Pete Tamel, too.
I mean, the O-T-T-O-O-G-O.
Oh, no. O-T-T-T-O-T-O.
He is supposed to be O-T-T-T-O-G-O.
So it's
ought to go. I know. The song's a banger. He spelled O-T-T-t-o-g-o so it's ought to go yeah i know the song's a banger he's spelled
o-t-t-t-o-t-o so close and then social media put it out there and like magnified it they're like
pete damel says o-t-t-t-o-t-o and everybody's like he's wrong he's like you get what pete
tam was trying to yeah oh it's good to go which we appreciate pete tam doing it
need to bring that fisherman costume back.
Yeah, in Oregon, he should.
Makes sense.
Maybe he's a lumberjack up there.
Maybe he's chopping ducks' heads off.
Or chickens.
Can we get that Aflac duck back again?
I like that duck.
Or is Stanford Steve too scared of it?
I did feel like Steve was a little intimidated by a duck named Ben,
by the way, the Aflac duck.
Oh, another Ben, huh? Okay. like steve was a little intimidated by a duck named ben by the way the athletic ducks oh another
band huh okay what's your deal okay jeez guess we just love ben's all all day we did that ben
was good that was a good duck just like ben's a good dog i love ben the dog but everybody was a
bit confused that the other dog that was acting perfectly, or the other animal
that was acting perfectly was named Ben.
That was certainly a conversation.
That's Ben.
That dog, it's a human.
Did you guys eat the duck after?
Did you eat the duck after?
Duck is a famous personality.
It's called Ben.
No.
Steve, how about Steve right right now he's like 12 and
three or something on the year hot steve's good no distractions for steve this year i i think he
is locked in i think he is locked in there's no more refrigerator behind him he's got an led board
he's got this duck that he was i think he was shoot scared of i think he was shoot scared of
the duck i think it was because i was over there and there was a lot of interaction between me and
steve steve was trying to keep eyes off duck I think it was because I was over there and there wasn't a lot of interaction between me and Steve. Steve was trying to keep eyes off duck, I think.
He looked like he was going to snap its neck right there.
I thought geese are attack.
Canadian geese are obviously terrorizers.
They are wild.
And then those big ones, the big swans, they also do the attack and they get very territorial.
Ducks, I don't really know.
So that's why when I walked over, I did
the back of the hand to the front of the duck.
It was like you do it to dogs.
Basically like, hey, you can get a scent here. I'm not
trying to touch you. I'm also not trying to kill you
here. So I went back of hand to duck.
Duck, no reaction. I don't know how it smells.
I don't know if it smells good or not.
So then I start petting the back of its head.
I go right for head, which you're not supposed to do with dogs.
But with a duck, I feel like if me and this duck got into it, I'd be okay.
Was initial thought.
Yeah.
So then I start petting the duck and it just like, it like almost started like leaning into it.
Like a dog would.
I'm like this thing.
And then when Kirk starts rubbing its like chest and it started wiggling its tail.
And I'm like, is that territorial tail?
Or is that like a happy tail?
Feels like this duck was...
Shake your tail better.
Bingo.
Duck was happy.
Duck was a good animal.
I almost thought about getting a pet duck
immediately after that.
Just like anything, though,
there are bad ones out there.
A duck will fuck your day up if it wanted to.
Yeah.
You sure that's a real one?
Come on.
Don't be a fucking...
They named it Ben, butts.
I'm asking you.
You don't think that's a real duck I pet?
Do I think that's a real duck?
Come on.
If it's not flying through the sky,
fucking get the batteries out the back of it, bro.
No way!
Yeah.
I pet that thing.
I bet you did.
It was obviously very sentient.
It enjoyed the feeling.
Yeah, there you go yeah just
doing what it's programming told it to do okay all right let's get back to a football toss i refuse
to believe and don't tell me that oregon duck is also fake okay he came in here doing it song and
dance i don't i hate that guy no yeah that's a great mascot go bucks that duck no yeah
Yeah.
It's a great mascot.
Go Bucs, bitch.
Fuck that duck.
No!
Yeah.
Really?
Yeah, all day.
Duck's awesome.
All day.
Jeremiah Smith on your head, bitch.
Duck's got good personality.
Yeah, I guess.
Push-ups are bullshit.
Don't tell me those push-ups are real fucking push-ups.
Well, it had a beak.
Had a beak.
Exactly.
Move it.
Move it to me? You're not a real duck, bitch.
You can move your fucking head.
Do your push-ups.
There's no reason for the Oregon Duck to be getting this right now.
I didn't bring it up.
On a Wednesday.
I guess, but it's game week.
Go Bucs.
Dan Lanning's not going to be happy about that.
I love Dan Lanning.
Friend of the program.
I also love Ryan Day and Chip Kelly.
How about Ryan Day?
Coach Dutch Danger was the coach of the Ohio State Bucs.
Coach Dutch Danger has been practicing quite some time.
Unfortunately.
Fell off the wagon.
Me and AQ were playing for a little bit.
I haven't been to practice.
That's all right, Coach Dutch.
That's going to happen.
Been in the pros.
AQ Shipley, if you can put that football into that hoop right over there,
we'll give 30 people $500 on the way out of here.
There you go.
Before you throw, though, Ohio State Buckeye legend,
A.J. Hawk has something to say to you.
A.Q., have you registered to vote yet?
All right.
Here we go.
Come on.
That's very nice of you.
Rock the vote.
Duck Hodges.
That's what you're supposed to do, register to vote.
Okay, that's good.
I'm happy everybody's doing that.
AJ's next question.
He was going to have a follow-up, by the way,
just like he tried to do earlier in the program,
and I apologize for cutting him off.
He should be registered to vote, and he can do that now.
Is it like a once-registered, always-registered situation?
I think so, yeah.
They keep you in.
They keep you locked in.
There might be a new place for you to go vote at, too.
Early voting is still available, obviously.
AQ Shipley, if you throw that football into that hoop right over there,
whoever you're going to vote for is going to win the presidency.
Okay?
And 30 people are going to get $500.
This is a big one, a lot of pressure.
Here we go, AQ.
The fate of the future.
All right, that's on you.
That's the show, ladies and gentlemen. That is the show. no oh no noted um all right 30 people 500
the fate of the election is not on the line okay i feel like that freaked you out a little bit
30 people that are happiness you're nowhere near it. That's a good line.
Right on it.
Get it there.
Right on it.
You haven't been to it.
That's a good line.
You're babying it.
You haven't been to it yet.
Fucking throw the thing.
They're at the wrong angle.
Just a little more juice.
I'm actually on the angle.
You know, you're saying.
Just a little more juice.
This is actually kind of like what refs have to do when a punk goes out of bounds.
You know how a ref, you know how they spot that?
The ref in the back literally tries to eyeball it, and there's hands like this,
and then the other ref is running until they intercept this arbitrary line here.
That's a real deal.
14-yard line.
I've been fucked 10 to 12 yards before by a ref, and boy, I was not thrilled about it.
I was not thrilled about it at all.
He said, I hit a better punt, maybe keep it in bounds.
We don't have to worry about this. I was like, I tried to put it out
in bounds. That's what I tried to do because they're running
over and eyeballing it. With that being said,
I've been eyeballing these last few.
Not fucking close.
A little more. Put it in there.
Let's go for it a little bit. AQ!
For the good of the Nittany Lions!
Not even close.
Little more juice.
Aim for the back of the guy. A little more juice. All right, here we go.
Aim for the back of the rim.
Quit fucking babying it.
A.Q. Shipley, a man who is a Super Bowl champion.
He's a player coach, formerly of the Tampa Buccaneers.
Now he does personalized training sessions in the off seasons with offensive linemen in the shipyard.
Con Man, what's your favorite part of the shipyard?
My favorite part of the shipyard is when there's, like,
piss in the toilet from two weeks ago.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's part of the grit and the jam of the shipyard.
You can flush the toilet, but why would you?
The smell of piss is what should be driving you.
Motivate you.
Hey, Q, if you put that football into that hoop right over there,
founder of the shipyard, 30 people will win $500.
For the shipyard, too strong, too $500. For the shipyard.
Too strong. Too strong.
Now me in the middle.
I once walked into the shipyard and I think he was doing the
mechanic. It was quite the sight.
The mechanic.
What exactly?
Oh, I have seen the mechanic.
We don't need a fool.
We don't need a fool. We're good.
Everybody's okay.
30 people, $500 straight out of the shipyard.
Don't know about the mechanic maneuver,
but I do know that the piss is still sitting in that toilet.
Probably from last offseason.
Yeah.
Thank you.
All you got to do is throw the ball into that hoop over there.
Of course, this is going to be the one, isn't it?
Oh.
Jeez.
All right.
Good work today, bub.
Good work.
Thank you.
Good job.
The football thing's not for me.
Yeah.
You're not wearing a Crocs, that's why.
Yeah, what's that all about?
You got a different wardrobe today, seemingly.
Are you working little side deals, a row back and Sunday red?
No, my dad.
Seems like he's.
Are you?
Yeah, he's trying to get into some golf courses.
My dad said something to me this week.
He's like, are you ever going to wear pants again?
And so I got bullied into wearing pants.
Fucking daddy's boy.
Dad doesn't like the calves, bro?
I don't know.
Be your own man.
I don't think he liked the shoes.
Well, I can see why.
All right, everybody in the back, good work today, boys.
Graphic department, good work, boys.
Hey, Cush, good work, boys. Good work, boys. Hey, Q, good work today.
Thank you.
Hey, P-Tone, really well done.
Good journalism from the talk table today, boys.
Good journalism.
Great work, Pat.
Great work.
Great work.
AJ, good work, AJ.
Good work, AJ.
Pretty good program today.
Absolutely.
A lot of things happened.
Why did Greeny still not call us back from yesterday?
Oh, he didn't. He's still real. I didn't even get a text. Did Jerry V?
Did we piss off Greeny? Gary!
Gary Tone!
Sorry, did Gary V call you back? Fuck. You called him Jerry?
I thought he did pronounce it Jerry during the football season for the Jets. No, this wasn't a gif-jif thing.
No. It was always... Because of the J and the J. Yeah, that's what I thought.
Greeny!
We're alive! We are live.
We are live.
All right.
I called you yesterday three times while we were live.
No callback.
No text.
I was on the golf course hiding from you.
Okay, smart play.
Smart play.
Did you watch Aaron today?
What's your takeaway?
What are your thoughts on it all?
I've watched all of the clips.
I had to go do something for Disney at a thing, but I've watched all of the clips. I had to go do something for Disney at a thing,
but I've watched all of the clips. Look, what I said this morning on television and I stand by it
is that no one is blameless in what has been a very messy situation.
But Aaron Rodgers, I think, carries the least of the blame. This thing starts at the very top.
When an organization has had the struggles that the Jets have had for a quarter of a century,
you go to the only thread of commonality amongst everyone,
and that is the man who now apparently wants to be known as Ambassador Johnson,
Woody Johnson, who has owned the team since exactly 2000.
And in that time, they've had the 26th best record in the NFL.
Having said that, what they did yesterday McAfee was the right thing
to do. Firing Robert Sala was the right thing to do. Moving forward and taking their shot
with Aaron Rodgers was the right thing to do. Going out and getting Devonte Adams is
the right thing to do and not only because it means I won't have to wear one of your
tank tops on get up.
Would be so. So while I'm not, I certainly don't have a great deal of confidence
that all this is going to end well,
I actually am not convinced it isn't either,
and the solution is Rodgers.
He has been a small part of the problem,
and if it's going to get fixed,
he's going to have to be practically all of the solution.
All right.
Greeny, what an answer out of you. That's what we were hoping for yesterday, but obviously had to get on. He's going to have to be practically all of the solution. All right. Greeny, what an answer out of you.
That's what we were hoping for yesterday, but obviously
had to get on get up first, which we appreciate
and respect. We watched this morning.
Didn't know if anything changed from the Disney
event, watching Aaron, but I'm happy to hear
that you're not as pessimistic as maybe
you could be in this situation, firing a head coach
after five weeks.
I was hiding from the world yesterday.
The Jets made this move at 10-0-2.
I took that personally.
As Michael Jordan might famously have said,
I took that personally.
They made me wait 21 hours and 58 minutes
to go on the air and give my thoughts,
and I was coming.
There was no way in the world I was letting that go.
But in all honesty, I was on the golf course. I didn and I was coming. There was no way in the world I was letting that go. But in all honesty,
I was on the golf course. I didn't even see that you
had called me until after I was
done. I would never. Yeah, of course,
Greeny, we understand.
You know I love you guys.
We love you too and we know you're coming
too, you know, especially with these types of
situations all the time.
All right, Greeny. And I'm telling you, we're going to get
Devante and I'm not going to lose this bet. I'm not going to have to wear the tank top on the air. All the time. All right, Greeny. And I'm telling you, we're going to get Devontae,
and I'm not going to lose this bet. I'm not going to have to wear the tank top on the air.
I'm still positive I'm going to win this bet.
Even after, really?
More so now than ever or no?
Yes, we're going to get Devontae Adams.
How do you not?
How do you fire the coach five games into the season
if you're not planning on trying to do everything in your power to go forward?
Woody Johnson did this because he thinks it's the best chance they have
of winning this year.
There is no next year with Aaron Rodgers and the rest of that team.
There is only this year.
They will get Devontae Adams by next week at the latest.
All right, Grady, we appreciate the hell out of you, brother.
Missed you guys. See you soon. See you. We have Grady. All right, Greeny, we appreciate the hell out of you, brother. Missed you guys.
See you soon.
See you.
Have a great day.
All right, there it is.
Sounds pretty confident.
Even more so.
We'll see, yeah.
I'm telling you, after the London game, I thought, yeah,
they're going to want to move for Devontae more now.
And then Sheffer was like, I don't know if that's the case.
And then head coach gets fired.
I'm like, so now definitely.
Sheffer's like, it's kind of last year contract for GM.
Fired a head coach. Do you want to
spend a future two
to do that and renegotiate a contract?
Interesting. I hope it happens, you know,
just because it would be cool to watch.
But obviously, Coach Sala
is probably wondering, are we going to get Devontae in the offseason?
At the end of the year, maybe?
That would have been cool for me.
Coach Sala, enjoy the uh downtime
oh yeah coach get some rest brother get some rest seven kids leave those stairs alone
no he's running the stadium stay in shape he's Jack he's running stairs today definitely
Hoboken High School for sure definitely literally going to the high school stadium to run what do

finger death punch he looks like it it does and what what is what is the song the five finger
death punch would sing the bleeding which sounds like what what's the sound of that song
i am the bleeding okay you think that's what Coach Sala's listening to?
Yep.
Is that the whole song there?
Is that like the chorus?
That's just the chorus.
That's the chorus right there?
Yeah.
How do we get to it?
How do we get to the chorus?
Is there just like yelling the whole time?
No, good voice.
Good voice lead up.
We're singing.
We're singing.
Asking if anybody knows who we are.
And then we just go, I am the bleeding.
Who's this again?
Five-finger death punch.
Hell yeah, dude.
Of course.
That's what I listened to before games as well.
So you think Coach Sala definitely doing that?
For sure.
Yeah, you and him piecing it together there.

I mean, they're running into each other.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Do it, do it.
I'm listening to it right now.
What do you think?
Yeah, it sounds good.
Sounds really good.
It's good, right?
Yeah.
It's not always yelling, it sounds like.
Doesn't sound like he's always telling a story a little bit.
A little story.
Have you ever been in a mosh pit or any of these?
No.
I want no part of it.
They're like really throwing hands.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, yeah.

It was at a bar.
Nice.
And it was like eight people doing it.
Nice.
And you could just kind of step back,
and you saw them fighting each other pretty much while music was playing.
And I was like, God damn.
And they're like every show.
Every show, this is how it goes.
That's how it goes.
Every one of them.
And you haven't been in there one time.
And every rock concert's like six.
Nobody's going.
If you go to a decent pop, there's a pretty good undercard.
There's decent bands, right?
It's every awesome rock band because nobody's going to seven different rock concerts.
They're going to one and you're getting six bangers, right?
And it's mosh pit.
Was it Aussie? Who else is there? Five Finger Death Punch? to one and you're getting like sick bangers, right? And it's mosh pit.
