Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome people and welcome to our humble abode, the Thunderdome. On this NFL Week 14 Thursday kickoff, you get it. December 5th, 2024, this program starts now! Football! It's wonderful, I cannot believe we're already at Week 14 tonight. Another divisional round matchup will bring us to our TVs to watch Prime and Kirk Herbstreet, Al Michaels, Kaylee Hartung, Carissa Thompson, Tony Gonzalez, Ryan Fitzmagic, Andrew Whitworth, Richard Sherman, you know the crew for the Packers and the Detroit Lions.
Starting point is 00:00:36 Lions are currently favored by three. It was three and a half a little bit earlier today. I assume it'll continue to maybe bounce around, but in this particular matchup, this is the second time they're playing each other and this is for supremacy of the NFC North now obviously the Lions are on a hell of a run this season 11-1 only one loss wow they've lost a lot of players though lost a lot of players and then the Packers here and Jordan love second full season really going at it they're on a run as well how about the Minnesota Vikings well they're on a run as well neither of these teams
Starting point is 00:01:03 can add a loss into the second column of their record and the Detroit Lions are gonna have to prove To the entire world that even though their entire defensive front seven is injured. They're gonna still be able to win games I have no idea how they'll pull it off. But this team has been powerful. This team has been dominant This team has been resilient. This team has epitomized an MC DC football team. Does tonight change it all with Jordan Love and the Packers coming to town? Jordan Love in that offense obviously I think we're going to see later what coach could have won the first matchup against
Starting point is 00:01:36 the Detroit Lions. 36 years as a coach in football 18 in college 18 the NFL. Chuck Pagano joined us. Coach there's some plays in that game from their first matchup week nine where obviously the Lions get the win there, but Packers maybe should have walked out of there with a dub. I think we're going to look into that a little bit later today. Yeah, a bunch of miscues for them easily could have won that game. And whenever you talk about division rivals, you know, especially at this, they know each other right inside and out. So all these previous games do matter because that's where they're getting on the tails and everything absolutely so the Lions are looking at the Packers tape and the Packers are looking at
Starting point is 00:02:08 Packers Lions tape and there's gonna be carryover every single time which is why these divisional games are always so competitive seemingly yeah absolutely and you don't want to overthink it and think hey cuz they know we know and we know they know and all that stuff I heard Belichick go through that whole deal do what you did the team that executes takes care of the program You know the ball doesn't give up explosive plays take care of the ball That's usually a team that's gonna win in these games The ball is the program beat yourself and let's go to talk to the table at Ty Schmidt obviously Packers fan
Starting point is 00:02:36 Can't wait to hear your thoughts on a prime time game for Jordan love to showcase that he is the current and future of this Green Bay Packers organization with Matt LaFleur, who's going to look Oh yeah, have you ready? Queen. In Detroit too, so he doesn't even have to cover it up. We're going to see Shining. He's going to look good out there.
Starting point is 00:02:53 Showcase game for him as well. Yeah, obviously and good coons in the team that he's put together being able to move on from the Aaron Rodgers era in which we all doubted a lot of decisions that were being made, loudly we did. We were wrong. They got to figure it out there. doubted a lot of decisions that were being made loudly we did we're wrong mm-hmm they're gonna figure it out there they have it is figured out as the Detroit football Lions do and let's go back to these Thursday night matchups con man Amazon's been swinging a pretty hot bat thus far yeah big
Starting point is 00:03:16 time and especially after the first year is like oh okay so Amazon's gonna pay for these terrible terrible games they're gonna be brutal last week. Obviously was the Thanksgiving Thursday They had the Friday night or Friday during the day Chiefs Raiders game, but the week before that they had a banger They had Eagles commanders. They had Ravens bangles, which was a 35 34 one-point game Like they have been swinging a very hot bat really you go all the way back to week 9 when it was Jets Texans And even then that was kind of the Jets comeback Hey the Rogers they beat the Texans Devante touchdown, you know, Garrett Wilson had that insane one-handed catch in the back
Starting point is 00:03:53 Thursday nights have been awesome. They have been incredible. Some of them have started very slowly sure So I think people kind of check out because it's work night Thursday night I assume numbers are big for like first half and if people are turning off their TVs and falling asleep, okay, but I think there's a lot of people myself included for a lot of these Thursday night games middle or early, like maybe 33% into the season, okay, because we're, you know, going into week 14. We're back. We're in the final quarter. Now. It's crazy.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Congrats us. It's blown by like this. But I fall asleep, maybe at halftime, or like first drive at third quarter. Then I wake up the next day and I see this guy and I'm like, what the hell happened? These games have gotten very good late on Thursday night. And I think it's because, and Chuck correct me if I'm wrong, Thursday night is pretty basic, right? We're doing our shit. We're not adding new shit for a Thursday night game. It's a short week. We are doing our stuff how we're doing. So the other team is going gonna get a pretty good grasp of
Starting point is 00:04:46 what you're doing after the first half because it's not like you're putting in two, three game plans like maybe if you have a 10-day before a game or seven to a full week before a game. So it's like maybe people are getting used to each other and they're starting to figure some things out throughout the game. Maybe there is strategy and schematics that come into play in the second half of these games but Thursday night has not been able to be one where you fall asleep and you don't regret it. I've been regretting whenever I pass out during these games. Tonight should be spectacular. How do you feel about your Green Bay Packers team? Dogs obviously against
Starting point is 00:05:12 the Detroit Lions. Welcome to the modern world. The brand new Lions. Even with all the injuries they have they're still favored by three against your Green Bay Packers team. How do you feel about it Ty? Pretty good. I mean I think the the road team has won like the last five games in this matchup So it kind of has been I mean this Jordan loves kind of ascension to like the okay They need to pay this guy He is the guy was last year on Thanksgiving against the Lions when Packers were they weren't really in a tailspin But it was like yeah This team is kind of like it's gonna it's gonna take a couple years for them to figure it out
Starting point is 00:05:43 Then they come out and they didn't beat the doors off the lines, but they played very, very well, beat them on Thanksgiving into Detroit. And it was kinda, you know, he ascended from that point on. It's kind of weird because I don't wanna say it's a lose-lose for the Packers, cause this game is like- Must win, I heard.
Starting point is 00:06:03 Well, must win in the sense, I do agree that like the Packers need to win this game is like must win I heard well must win in the sense I do agree that like the Packers need to win this game because if they go out and they get beat by the Lions who? Like you said their front sevens decimated like if they can't beat them in those conditions Then you're probably not competing to win a Super Bowl this year anyways. Yeah, exactly So like if now granted if you beat them then sure the Lions are down a bunch of guys But they can't do anything about that So in that sense, I do think it is a must-win again the Packers I think they're playing their their best football of the Jordan love era so far right now like the last three weeks
Starting point is 00:06:34 It hasn't just been the offense their defense has been unbelievable. And although it's a Thursday night game I don't know how much this changes things but both these teams played on Thanksgiving Thanksgiving, so they've had a full week of preparation. The Packers, this is their third game in 12 days, so I worry about that a little bit just because, you know, who knows. But yeah, I mean, I feel very good about the Packers going into Detroit tonight, but it's one of those things where, like, prove it. Prove that, you know, everyone's talking about them right now, like, hey, this could be a team that's that's dangerous and that you don't want to see in the playoffs. Like the Lions have been the best team in the NFL this year and they're banged up right now. They're maybe a little bit vulnerable.
Starting point is 00:07:14 So like go out and prove that you are one of those teams that's going to be dangerous in the playoffs. I feel like Jordan Love and prime time is good, right? Yes. I feel like Jordan Love likes the lights and not that he doesn't any other time, but there is never a question on whether he's going to have some sick. He's going to do something filthy. Jordan Love is going to do something running. He's going to have a showcase game, but there is a chance he turns the ball over.
Starting point is 00:07:36 I mean, that is something that happens. I think that is just accepted with the way Jordan Love plays football, with the way this offense goes. He's got a lot of moxie, a lot of pizzazz, love the way he plays, teammates love the way he plays. Now, speaking of that Lions front seven being decimated, remember they lose Aiden Hutchinson who was on track just like every year basically for defensive player of the year or whatever.
Starting point is 00:07:56 Maybe even MVP, you know, depending upon how the season goes, he gets hurt. So I got this from NFL Plus Premiums NFL Pro inside here. The Lions have blitzed at the second highest rate, basically 40% in the NFL since losing Aiden Hutchinson. Okay, so you lose a guy, you can get your pressure. They've been bringing at least one extra man to rush the pass or five guys at least.
Starting point is 00:08:22 The lowest blitz rate that they've had in a game over that timeframe actually came in a game over that time frame actually came in week nine against the Packers but whenever they were blitzing they were successful. Jordan Love completed just three of 10 passes for 23 yards with an interception when he was blitzed compared to averaging 8.6 yards per attempt when he was in blitz. Love has struggled against the blitz this season averaging just 5.5 yards per attempt, which is 30 seconds in the NFL. Against four or fewer pass rushers, Love has averaged a league high 9.4 yards per attempt. So the way the Lions have had to play defense, especially with the
Starting point is 00:08:55 injuries everywhere, is they got to like simulate the pressure. They got to make it happen. What are your thoughts on that's how Aaron Glenn has been operating the team since losing Aiden Hutchinson? And do they know that from watching the last game that that's what they need to do? So they got 30 sacks to this point in the season. Aiden had seven and a half of those sacks through six games. Okay, eighth most pressure rate to your point, but their sack rate is 27th in the league. So they've got to generate by adding extra bodies. And you think about it, Pascal's out.
Starting point is 00:09:24 All right. to generate by adding extra bodies and you think about it Pascals out all right so out of those 30 sacks that they have on the season to this point all right 15 of those were by guys that are no longer on the football field. Geez, Foxy, injury bug. So basically with Zadarius and McNeil you have to throw other bodies because they don't have anybody else that can really win one on ones. So Aaron's gotta throw bodies at him. And Jordan has not done well, I guess you can't say,
Starting point is 00:09:50 but LaFleur knows that stat as well right there. Yeah, and that's, I take that with a grain of salt a little bit because if you remember, when they played the Lions the first time, the big kind of talking point going into the game was like, hey, should the Packers just sit Jordan Love? Because they have a bye week following this game and he's already kind of banged up he had the the growing issue from Jacksonville like it has been very
Starting point is 00:10:11 noticeable that he is he's healthy now like yeah the blitz stuff is weird too because again it's one of those things with the stats like I just read a stat before the show to like talked about you know Jordan love in his career against the Blitz like he has been he's been unbelievable and where that ranks in the so like this year Not as good But I mean it's one of those things where I think he was a little banged up last time and and to your point like He hasn't turned the ball over in three weeks if he can continue Continue to play smart and kind of just take what's given to them and not try to score a touchdown on every play. I think it'll be okay. Week 9, week 14, that's pretty close to playing each other, right?
Starting point is 00:10:49 Five weeks, does that matter or does that mean anything? Again, these two know each other. Got it. So what they're doing is they play the Titans, I think then we play one game and then we play the Titans again. Yeah, two and three weeks. It's always interesting how they do it, but I'm sorry, go ahead. But you'll carry things that you have in a game plan, like on a short week, these guys have had seven days to your point about playing on Thanksgiving and had a full week, but on a short week You'll take things you'll take things from the previous game plan that you didn't use and didn't put on tape that you've already Practiced for the opponent that you played prior so you can bring some of those things back in They'll also look at some things that they had in the first game plan that they
Starting point is 00:11:26 Didn't use Maybe dial those things up and then the big thing is like hey We should we gave him this look and did this maybe we give them the same look and do something different The other thing with the blitz patterns and think there's so many new bodies on the defense on the Detroit's defense Yeah, so I don't know if like the Linebacker they just they just saw like do these guys know all these blitz patterns? Do they know how to get to the disguised Tampa looks where they're showing their bluff and they're getting
Starting point is 00:11:53 out? Jordan Love he misses an easy touchdown on that first drive because of pressure. We have the clip we're gonna show later that angle route to the back. Yeah 30 number 30. Yeah Chris Brooks. I'm third down. Yeah if that ball is delivered in the spot it's a touchdown there and uh the stats and everything that he put together for this tale of the tape and what happened in the last matchup it's like the Packers had to be bummed out after that game. I mean there had to be a bit of a bum out situation and then you watch what the Lions have gone on to do. It's like this Lions team dominant. I think this NFC North is special. Now, speaking of special, we are having a glorious run against the Sportsbook and then it cooled off. I don't know where we're at right now after how last weekend went. Let's go to one half of the Hammer,
Starting point is 00:12:34 done, Cowboys, AP 10. Where's the money tonight? And where's the money on the season? Have we, has the people won or have these rat bastard Sportsbooks won? So yeah, we started the season incredible, like one of the best of all time. And then it definitely cooled off, it was some terrible times. And now it's kinda evened out where the 60% of bets,
Starting point is 00:12:53 where the public is on 60% or more of the bets has been pretty much 50-50 each week. So we've kinda found, Waters found its level. Tonight 58% of the bets are on the Detroit Lions. And that's well, the public just I mean, since Dan Campbell has gone on his run that there has been no better against the spread team than the Detroit Lions and they're nine and three against the spread this year. So I mean, when when gamblers find a team that wins for them, they tend to just stick with them and ride them until they till they cannot ride them. And it seems been good to me. It seems been good to me. And we talked to some of these college coaches
Starting point is 00:13:25 where they know that they're gonna be judged off of whether or not they cover. Cause like people's actual money is on the line. So even if you win games and you don't cover, there's a way for fans to spin that is they're kind of underperforming and they also have a bitter taste about it. So whenever not only you awesome
Starting point is 00:13:42 when you're on a microphone like MCDC is, not only whenever your team is fun to watch, which Ben Johnson, that offense is fun to watch. I mean the way they go. Penny Sewell had the ball last week. Awesome. He and he almost did something with it. He did. Look out tonight. Who knows? Maybe he gets another opportunity this evening. But whenever you have a hilariously legendary head coach who speaks hilarious in epic fashions, and then you have a fun team to watch, and then they dominate people.
Starting point is 00:14:09 And you're making money off them. It's like that's, that's a- It's a good recipe. That's a recipe for success on becoming America's team, which I think a lot of people are loving what the Detroit Lions are doing. I don't think as many people that are betting on them know all these injuries, man.
Starting point is 00:14:24 It's like- Sure. So so many how many is too many for The Detroit Lions, that's a real question and tell your point about the head coach I was nervous about this game all week This is definitely our toughest game in the season and I woke up today and I'm like MCDC doesn't care about the injuries that's been his message all week Aaron Glenn doesn't care about the injuries that's been his message all week And I kind of think they might be able to grit this one out because of the offense and tie you remember in the first game those possessions the Packers had the ball seven minutes long then the Lions got the ball seven minutes long and the Lions capitalize and they scored
Starting point is 00:14:55 touchdowns on those possessions. If they can play that way tonight and really extend the game like that I think we have a great chance. So that's what we got to do from now on because of the injuries. Well, the injuries too, like they're all in one spot, you know, obviously it's not all D in line, but it's that front seven. It is specifically that, like they're not missing a massive piece on the offense rag. Now, of course that is definitely a big loss, but like the fact that it is just the front seven and watching what Josh Jacobs has been doing, like he is unbelievable. So when you're talking about one of the most important things for them to stop it
Starting point is 00:15:27 would be Josh Jacobs. And I mean what half three, four so those guys are D line linebackers. Yeah. And no DJ reader tonight as well. Who's not on that list. Yeah. I mean, and we got, I was looking at the cause obviously we watch all the other shows that are on ESPN and we have a lot of respect for a lot of the people that go on those shows and do those shows like legitimately And people behind the scenes So when I saw the pics this morning, it was like lions lions lions
Starting point is 00:15:52 And then greenie was on Packers and he was almost like like I I'm sticking with them and they're like almost like laughing and then here Dan goes That's a good pick or whatever. It was like is that how we're really is that that surprises me I didn't and then 58% of the money obviously I thought it would been a little closer it's like have we not seen enough of the Packers or does everybody just love this Lions ride that we've been on and I think I'm one of my I'm one of the biggest brand new Lions riders yes I love it I love everything that MCG's done I love the way they play I love it. I love everything that MCD has done. I love the way they play. I love the redemption story for Jared Goff. I've enjoyed it from literally minute one of MCDC being the Lions head coach. That opening press conference
Starting point is 00:16:33 could think about our show. If you're new to our show and you've only learned of us since coming on to ESPN, think about how we handled Motor City, Dan Campbell's opening press conference with the gnawing of the kneecaps getting knocked back down, coming back up. That made our show for about 10 days straight. That was basically what we talked about in the whole thing. So then whenever they start bad, we were bummed out. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:58 We did not like, we wanted more of that type of stuff in the NFL. So following the ride that the Lions have gone on and the city of Detroit's been able to get behind has been pretty epic. Like that has been pretty cool. How many injuries, like how many injuries can you handle? That is what that is literally what takes down teams in the NFL. Everybody says, oh we got unlucky injury wise. It's like that's the NFL. That's a part of the NFL. The positions that get hurt cannot be your pillar positions. And it's like when Aiden Hutchinson got hurt, I think we all wondered like how are they? That's the NF that's a part of the NFL the positions that get hurt cannot be your pillar positions And it's like when aiden hutchinson got hurt. I think we all wondered like how are they this guy seven and a half sex
Starting point is 00:17:35 You said at the time in the first six games like how are they gonna they continued anzaloni? They continue other guys get it. They continue It's like I don't know if they just have something that nobody else has been able to figure out whether it's Moxie confidence or strategy scheme people whatever it is, but just being able to fill in people into these very important front seven with the way they play football, exactly. And the way everything goes is like one of the most important groups on the entire team and they've lost everyone. Yeah. And I don't know how long you can do that. I legitimately don't know how long you can do. And to your point, what worries me is you saw it in the second half of the Bears
Starting point is 00:18:06 game. Caleb Williams was able to move the ball at will. They were scoring touchdowns and that's because so many guys went down. So that's what worries me tonight. Cause Jordan love, he can sling that thing, especially last year on Thanksgiving in Ford field. He did that. So that's the biggest worry. And that's why I'm, I'm pretty shocked everyone's taking the lion's night. I'm not going to lie. I think it's legitimately just we love the lie Yeah, and like I said, they can score so many points like that's what it's like and win is
Starting point is 00:18:31 Anytime this conversation has come up with how banged up like everyone we've talked to have said like well like this lion's offense has put Up historical numbers like they can win games 45 to 42 like they can do that and they're right I didn't even think Ben Johnson could scheme up exactly and and their offense, you know for how unlucky their defense has been in terms of injuries Like yeah, Taylor Decker is not playing tonight But like their offense correct me if I'm wrong Foxy, but like their offense has been pretty damn healthy. You're all year long Yep, 31 points a game dance skipper steps in 31 points again people say like if you average 20 points a game you're gonna be like top three in the NFL. They're averaging 31 points a game. It's like they're playing like a 7
Starting point is 00:19:11 on 7 out there most of the time because how good that offensive line is. You talk about skip just getting plugged in there. No and the defense you got to like we're gonna hear a bunch of names called tonight that we don't nobody recognizes on the Detroit defense, right? The secondaries intact, they got probably the best tandem at safety in Branch and Joseph in the National Football League. Got another amazing safety on the other side in Xavier McKinney. They're both tied. Joseph McKinney, seven interceptions each for the league lead. But at some point, something's got to give. Green Bay ran the ball on him, week nine.
Starting point is 00:19:47 And that was against Paschal, that was against Reeder, that's against the Starters. So these guys are backups for a reason, right? They're backups, all right? And then if you gotta go to the street to get a guy, to sign a guy, you're bringing in guys on Tuesday to work out the linebacker, Juan Alexander, I think it is. They're on a street for a reason
Starting point is 00:20:07 Right, so the more The more innings that those guys got to play they get exposed like a backup quarterback coming in the game Like you play a couple innings. Hey get us in and out of maybe two or three like over a long period of time Over 60 minute game pound you pound you pound you. The offensive line last time I looked pretty good for Green Bay. So you can, I mean, that grit and that will and all that shit, you love that. Right?
Starting point is 00:20:32 But at some point, I mean, it's really hard to bet against those guys, especially at home and the rec. And the other thing is like, who needs this game more? Who? I was Detroit, I'd say Detroit would need it. We're gonna learn a lot about the Lions tonight The reason why is home field advantage is very You look at Detroit if you look at the rest of the schedule Like it's not easy right Foxy for Detroit. No, they got to play the Bills. They got to play the Vikings again They got to play the Bears. They got to play the Niner. Yeah They've got a tough tougher schedule Phillies got the easier schedule
Starting point is 00:21:08 Yeah in my opinion then these guys neither of these guys want to lose game But I it just feels like Green Bay at nine and three needs this one a little bit more They're a little bit more healthy. They're missing a couple guys too on the defensive side Alexander Jire's out Edgerton Cooper's out there so they're missing a couple pieces as well. Not as many as Detroit though I looked it up golf is 40 and 19 against the spread since joined the lions and those first ones didn't go so well Thank you golf. So probably yeah These last few Thursday football games too like all divisional matchups basically are the brown stealers underdog three and a half They covered before that. I believe the e Steelers underdog three and a half they covered before that
Starting point is 00:21:45 I believe the Eagles actually covered the three and a half or four They were favored against the commanders and the week before that I think it was the Bengals who are underdogs plus six or whatever they covered against the rape joining us now ladies and gentlemen Is another pies on that loves talking about ball He's a Ted Talk speaker. Yeah. Mm-hmm. That's crazy had the little Madonna Mike. Oh Talk speaker. Yeah. That's crazy. Had the little Madonna mic thing. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:06 The whole work in the room. Those are sweet. On the stage. Like, when you speak at those, every one of those is like a matter of fact. You know? And the people that are listening, they're there to listen to a matter of fact speech.
Starting point is 00:22:17 Yeah. Trying to get better. Those are done? I haven't seen them in my algorithm. I kind of lost their pop. I haven't seen many. I did a hell of a run. Lalo and Duckworth are the last two I've seen since Angela Duckworth on grit. Okay that is the one that changed your entire perspective. I think it became our uh
Starting point is 00:22:33 yep it became our entire team's mantra. I don't see many of those anymore. I hate to interrupt. Sorry. The grit coins or the Ted Talkers? Just Ted Talkers. Where'd they go? Or the grit coins. Where'd they go? Grit coins? Yeah where are they him a chip. I still got a good job yours. Yeah It might be in this building somewhere a necklace right you used to wear it every day safe at home I thought actually that's funny. You say that I melted down it is I don't have my belt on cheese. Louise It's on a belt It's always with me coach. Mm-hmm PCS champion. I put it in my yeah Put it in my watch and yeah, yeah
Starting point is 00:23:12 We were doing good before MC DC was doing great long time you would like I guess Duckworth introduced the word grit to you and why it's the greatest word and everything like that and then that became like team Mantra for real and everybody bought in those grid chips were all over the place Soon as you hand them out you got a little poker poker chip says grid on it So this is cool and they tell us a whole story about a challenge coin, you know with the military He goes that's what I'm expecting out of you guys. So we all laugh at him and then like two meetings later He's like, all right where your People pull it and then it became like a thing. It became like a-
Starting point is 00:23:45 Chuck, you create grit? Thought it was the soldiers and factory workers and steel workers. Geez, Elise, he didn't create grit. He decided to make grit a mantra, I believe, is how you would describe it. Yeah, it's about resiliency, it's about perseverance. It's about getting through shit.
Starting point is 00:24:03 I don't know, sounds like a meme coin to me. Cause life's hard, right? Don't buy those. As soon as you figure it out, it starts getting a hell of a lot easier. Stick to it-iveness. That's right. Don't give up. Never.
Starting point is 00:24:15 This guy was beating leukemia, so maybe, maybe, yeah. Oh, I thought it was steel work. What have you done, Tony? I haven't done shit, but I can say I created grit. Don't beat leukemia. He read a book. He read a book. He read a book about me. What have you done? What have you done, Tony? I haven't done shit, but I can say I created grit. Tony, be team you. He read a book. He read a book. He read a book about me. First TED Talk you ever heard was Eisenhower.
Starting point is 00:24:30 World War II. Yeah, that was a good speech. One of the best. Anyways, what happened to those TEDs? We need those back. I know, that will be nice. I think because of the podcast platform now. Everybody does them.
Starting point is 00:24:41 Instead of doing TED Talks, you go on Joe Rogan and then just talk there. Do your TED. Actually. I thought they said Lobos was so good. Like, why are we going to do anymore? Now everybody does instead of doing Ted toss you go on Joe Rogan and then just talk they do your Ted actually I thought they said not it was so good. Like why are we gonna do anymore? Well, maybe you know what else I miss unplugged Man unplugged was a great show. They didn't bring that back. Yeah, they do the desk the NPR there Yeah, Mac Miller had a great one They still do those those are still going the tiny desk. Sure. Yeah, they're doing great Those are still going the tiny desk sure yeah, they're doing great
Starting point is 00:25:09 Easy I saw GZ did one like a year or two ago who was unplugged That was a music whenever they would tell basically the stories about why they wrote the songs and they play the songs It was like a little intimate was good. It was like a once again podcast though. Yeah Yeah, okay, so podcast kind of murdered all these things well joining us now ladies. Jim is it is podcast house Yeah, he's a live show host as well. He's a multiple-time Super Bowl champion ladies and gentlemen Paisano extraordinaire Michael LaMardi How'd the TED talk come together they sent you an email and said hey you're an expert we want to hear you talk about it Is that how that goes? you know, I got a phone call from a Speaking bureau and that said since you're writing a
Starting point is 00:25:46 book would you be interested in doing a TED talk? And I thought, yeah, how hard could that be? I think it's the hardest thing you can do because you can't use a PowerPoint. You cannot, you have to memorize it. It's like Hamlet, to be or not to be. You got to go in there and you got to memorize every word. I was a nervous wreck. It was hard.
Starting point is 00:26:03 It was really hard. And you got to stay in that little circle. You can't move and you can't use the PowerPoint to help direct your conversation. And then you're looking at this giant clock because you only have 14 minutes and you better get it all in or else they're going to cut you off. Is it your crowd or is it a crowd that's just there for a speaker? Like did they know you? No, nobody.
Starting point is 00:26:22 I don't think I didn't know. There was like, there were like 16 speakers. It was up in Santa Barbara in a theater and it was full. The place was packed and every speaker, there must've been 16 of us. They were all going through it and everybody was waiting. You know, you're rehearsing your speech. You're like, you're doing a Broadway play.
Starting point is 00:26:38 And it was like, you know, writing it out. I was a wreck. I mean, I went and had two Jack Daniels after that. I was like, okay, this is it. This is really hard. You can think about doing the Jack Daniels beforehand too. Might've been frowned upon. I thought about it, you know, but then I thought I was slurring my words. But so I just kind of, I waited until afterwards and I couldn't wait to run to the bar because it was hard, but it was fun to do. I'd do it again. It just was, you had to be really good and you
Starting point is 00:27:04 had to practice a lot There was a lot of practice in it. Well congrats Not a lot of people get to do TED Talks and once again, he said you do it again I think it's dead Yeah I think you would do it on a podcast and then it would Hopefully get shared and then people would put music behind it and then they'd have reenactment behind it and then it would be That's a whole thing. That's the whole world now, but we're all smarter for it
Starting point is 00:27:24 especially because of what you do every single week with us. We're very grateful for that. Feels like there's another great Thursday night football game. This feels like another great football game. This has been happening now, Lambeau. There's been a lot of good games happening on Thursday night. Remember, Jeff Bezos has a lot of money. Amazon has a lot of money.
Starting point is 00:27:40 They invested a lot of money. There was a couple times there, a couple years there, where it was dud, dud, dud, and you knew the NFL was going to try to make it up seemingly, and you can never project injuries and everything like that, which will be a topic of tonight's conversation, but these games have been great, and tonight's a huge one in the NFC North. We mention injuries because I think it's very vital for the conversation about this Lions team.
Starting point is 00:28:03 How long can they survive with the amount of injuries they have to their front seven on the defensive side? I know MC DC phenomenal coach we have sang his praises we love the mentality we love the culture but like in the history of the NFL good teams end up losing because of injuries. Yeah. That is normally what happens. Are we how worried are you about the Lions being able to manage this and how do you think tonight goes? Well I think it's hard and not on that list because he's not on IR is DJ Reader who may not play tonight. No, he's out tonight I think.
Starting point is 00:28:30 He's out tonight. That's another one there. They're just going to have and Pasco, the other defensive lineman, he's out too. So they have two defensive linemen to go along with guys that are on that list. It's really mounting. I mean, look, I think Philadelphia and Detroit are the class of the NFL. Forget the AFC or NFC. I think those are the two best teams and they kind of mirror one another.
Starting point is 00:28:49 Right. It's fascinating that we live in the NFL where everybody talks about being an RPO game, being in shotgun. But these two teams are under center for Philadelphia. They are in some shotgun, but they lead the league in rushing attempts. And they're in the bottom of the league in passing attempts. But where they really excel is yards per attempt passing. So when they do decide to throw the ball, they just don't check it down.
Starting point is 00:29:11 They get it down the field. And add Green Bay to that list. Green Bay is the number one team in the National Football League in first half play calling. They're going to run the ball more than they're going to throw it. And they're in the top five in those two categories that I mentioned. But I think to me, Detroit loses out a little bit because these injuries, they can become replaceable. But the depth, as we saw in the fourth quarter of that game on Thanksgiving, it wears you
Starting point is 00:29:35 down. All of a sudden, you start losing players and now your backups go from playing 10 plays to playing 30 plays and they're not as effective. That's what worries you. Detroit, to me, is going to be a tough out whether they have to go on the road in the playoffs or if they play at home if they're healthy but if they're not it becomes harder. I didn't even think about potential injuries to guys that are filling in tonight like the tonight starters having getting banged up then you got actual fifth stringers now.
Starting point is 00:30:00 Yeah. Playing in meaning very meaningful. They're signing guys off the practice squad. They signed a guy off the practice squad from the Rams. They signed one from Seattle. They brought in Jamal Adams, who they're going to probably play at linebacker. They claimed David Long off the waiver wire from. They're trying to patchwork this together and it's hard. It's not easy. I'd like to say, on that note, Lombo, we'd like to say phenomenal coaching job over there. Definitely.
Starting point is 00:30:25 Yeah, no question. Aaron Glenn and all the, Kelvin Shepherd, who's former teammate of mine is a linebacker coach over there. They got a lot of great coaches over there on the defensive side of the ball. It's like this is not a shot at coaching being able to figure it out. This is just like how many humans that aren't on NFL rosters, can you plug into an NFL roster and still win NFL games? Like that's like the game in this entire thing and Aaron Glenn said about the new guys
Starting point is 00:30:48 He said I'm not worried about the playbook. It's more about the style of play I need them to play Detroit Lions football and as a friend, I absolutely love that And I think it speaks to the culture in their locker room, too They have tremendous culture and the veteran players the veteran players take over I think you see that in Detroit you You can feel it that they take over. And look, with the other injury we mentioned is Taylor Decker. He's not going to play left tackle tonight. Now there was some talk that they were going to move Sewell over to left tackle.
Starting point is 00:31:15 I think that would be a mistake because I think you'd be better off just keeping the big fella at right tackle and running the ball behind them so well that they do and not try to change. And you can game plan around skipper at left tackle. You know you've got to chip. You know you've got to make sure that if you want to throw it down the field, you're going to have to give them some help. These injuries have taken a toll.
Starting point is 00:31:34 Look, Green Bay has injuries too. Jair Alexander is not going to go. Dobbs still has the concussion. They have the same issues too. One thing we do know about Green Bay, besides the fresh haircut that Matt LaFleur is going to give us tonight, and it's going to be sensational, we know that, is that he's really good in the month of December. I mean, he is really good, and where Matt LaFleur is really good too is when he's a
Starting point is 00:31:54 three-pointer less dog. He's got Mike Tomlin-like numbers in that category, and you can't overlook it. We all owe LaFleur, you know, flowers, LaFleur's. We owe him his LaFleur's because I think we all wondered and by we it's us that we are into microphones but now after you watch this like the consistency they're nine and three right now that is a very very good record very good record now they're in the Lions division so it's not they're in the Lions division, so it's not. They're in the Vikings division, so it's like, is it that nine and three, basically any other division, you're in a great spot. Shout out to LaFleur doing his thing. And to your point about the Lions and the Eagles, and you talk about their running, and then you mentioned that the Packers also first half when
Starting point is 00:32:39 it comes running. I got a stat from Hembo about the Philadelphia Eagles in their running. Here's an element for Philly during this wind streak. They've stuck to their identity. When trailing the Philadelphia Eagles, their run-pass ratio is 52% run to 48% pass even when they're trailing. That's obviously incredible. Discipline by Carolyn Moore, but that's also them not getting caught up in what they got caught up in last year, right? Lambo, do you think that's the case? That's exactly what it is.
Starting point is 00:33:07 They know who they are. And think about this, let's add something more to this, right? They also in the last five games that they've won, they've outgained running than passing. They've gained more yards on the ground than they have throwing the football, five consecutive weeks in a row. So for all the talk about, well, you can't run the ball, running is a waste of time, they've proven this point. But here's where it gets more interesting. I think Timmy and Chuck can verify this. Teams that can run the ball in the red zone, inside the 30, it's the best way to score, right? The
Starting point is 00:33:38 way to get in the end zone is through ground transportation, right? It's the best way to score. And this team is really good. Philadelphia is the number one team in rushing inside the 30, Detroit's number two. And then you've got to be able to stop teams from running the ball when they get in the end zone. That's the signature of a really good team. Philadelphia is the fourth best team in that area, Detroit's fifth. So those two things always go hand in hand. And then let's take the opposite. Cincinnati, who doesn't want to run the ball, who has no interest in running the football, can't stop the run nor can they run. And then they can't run when they get down the end zone and then they make mistakes.
Starting point is 00:34:12 Yeah. Run game is coming back in style. You know, that running back market and everybody was talking about and the wide receiver market was through the roof. Now it feels like that's about to football the next couple of years. It feels like the run game offense alignment, I think, are about to get paid a little bit more from their teams if they're instead of let them go Let's finish up on the Philadelphia Eagles here. Here's some more stats from Hembo in 2023 the Eagles had the number seven scoring offense and number 30 scoring defense in 2024 they have the number seven scoring offense in the fourth scoring defense. So That's you know In 1924, they have the number seven scoring offense and the fourth scoring defense. So that's the difference. You know why that is, Pat?
Starting point is 00:34:46 Let me tell you why that is. Vick's done a great job, but they're in condition. Look at their defensive line. Jalen Carter's playing most every play. Last year, they were like a hockey line. They were changing every three plays. They were so out of shape, they couldn't stay on the field. This year, they're in really good condition.
Starting point is 00:35:02 They've spent time. Give, fill it up, Philadelphia credit for what they did. They changed how they practiced. They changed how they conditioned the team. And now they're better off for it. Philly did a great job this off season of identifying why they lost. And they identified why they won.
Starting point is 00:35:16 And so therefore they played within that. And they really have done a good job. They're in shape and you can't wear them down. I mean, look, last week, if you'd have told me Jalen Hurts is gonna throw for 118 yards and they're gonna win, I would have said you're crazy. But they do it and give Vic credit. Remember when Vic left Miami,
Starting point is 00:35:32 all the players said it was too hard to play for. They killed him. It's too hard, he's too hard on it. Philadelphia's embracing it. Because you know why? Hard wins. If you wanna win a championship, it isn't easy. We know how soft Miami is.
Starting point is 00:35:44 Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa Have we thought about that? That's certainly maybe Fangio keeps that thing down at like 52 He likes it chilly likes to keep people alive in the meeting room and the Dolphins players like it's too cold. It's too good McDaniel comes in get out of here Is that why Vic Fangio was hated? I think the players just thought he was an asshole. Oh, okay Well, he does affiliate does really well and you talk about Herd 718 yards. I'm still getting a win over their eight game win streak here Here's some notable wide receiver performances versus Eagles defense. Okay exciting whites in the boys tomorrow chase 54 yards on 38 routes CD lamb
Starting point is 00:36:39 21 yards on 26 routes and Terry McLaurin scary Terry 10 yards on 25 routes against the Eagles It's like that's obviously the defensive line getting home what you're talking about But also the secondary and everybody in on four-man rush they get home with four men They can deploy seven in the coverage fix loves playing zone coverage He gets a lot of bodies around everybody eyes on the quarterback breaking downhill break They're probably not playing as many snaps either because they're getting off the field right Lambeau so they can know the look the look the best way to play defense in the NFL is play less defense that's the best way to play defense and so they and so when you run
Starting point is 00:37:13 the ball as much as they do they eat the clock up that's why this game tonight both teams will run the ball this see this game tonight will be a nine possession game you know they're not gonna get many possessions when you run the ball and eat the clock off. And I think that's what makes Philly so good. And look, let's face it, they can throw it down the field when they have to throw it. And they don't play from behind. That's the thing. Even for a team that doesn't score, they got behind Baltimore 10 to nothing. They were able to come back on it and dominate that game. Yeah, even when they're behind, they still run. But also you got AJ Brown, you got Goddard, you got weapons.
Starting point is 00:37:45 Whenever you need it. And if you can run the ball, guess what that does to the box, Chuck? Yep. Makes it heavy. What does that mean on the outside? One-on-one. That's what we like!
Starting point is 00:37:56 That's playoff football, good for the Eagles. Will the Lions be able to remain as the number one seed in the NFC throughout the rest of the year with all their injuries? We shall see. Let's stay in the NFC North, shall we? Ty has all their injuries we shall see let's stay In the NFC North shall we tie has a question for you Lambeau. Yeah Lambeau. Just curious What'd you think of the whole Matt Eberfluss no timeout deal on Thanksgiving? And then there was also a report that came out today
Starting point is 00:38:15 I think from Dan McNeil that said Jim Harbaugh was interested in the Bears job or at least talking to them in January and Kevin Warren just kind of nicks that. I don't know if that's the Ohio State Michigan deal, but are you confident that the Bears are going to make the right hire this upcoming cycle if, because we've been led to believe that Kevin Warren is going to have like a massive hand in hiring their next head coach. Remember Kevin Warren was deciding the feng shui of the sweets in the new stadium. He won hard knocks.
Starting point is 00:38:44 Yeah, well you can do that and you can run a team. Look, Kevin Warren's running the Feng Shui of the sweets in the new stadium. He won hard knocks. He was watching it. Yeah, well, you can do that and you can run a team. Look, Kevin Warren's running the team. Let's make no mistake about that. Okay, you can sit there and say that somebody else is he is. And that story that was written about Jim Harbaugh is completely true. Now remember, Warren and Harbaugh, Warren being the commissioner of the Big Ten and Harbaugh had some differences.
Starting point is 00:39:02 And I think it let it spill over. But there were two teams that Jim Harbaugh would have loved to work for, I'm sure last year. The Bears who he played for was the number one pick for. And then the Las Vegas Raiders who he worked for in his first coaching job. Neither team decided to go after him, why I don't know. To me, if you're Kevin Warren, the object of this is to get the best coach available.
Starting point is 00:39:22 And Jim Harbaugh would have been the best coach for your team Now you would have had a fire Ibra floose Let's go back to the end of the game if you read Caleb Williams's comments after the game You know what usually happens here. He signaled for a double move when after this sack, right? They should have called timeout everything happens when you save timeouts in the NFL on a two-minute drill because you if you get sacked you need them because you get takes too long for everybody to come back now they wanted to run a stick route on the next play unfortunately Caleb decided to change the play and throw a double move to Roma dunze you could see him signal with four here he even said look later in my career I probably would have tried to get the field goal but I wanted to win the game for my teammates. This is really just hard
Starting point is 00:40:05 This is bad football and it doesn't work and ultimately it falls in the hands of Iber Fluse Who got himself fired for this and it falls in the hand of the quarterback not recognizing you need to be in field position I mean even the Lions were stunned They were completely stunned and this at the end of the game is part of the issue, right? Situational football matters in December. And you just let an opportunity in the quarterback even admitted that he would have done it. He did it. He changed the play, right?
Starting point is 00:40:31 A double move. Now that's on Eberfluss too, because if you would have called timeout before, right? If you had to call timeout before you come to the huddle, you come over to the silence and say, look, here's what we're going to do. We're going to stick route. We'll throw the ball to commit. I got the, I got the field goal rush team.
Starting point is 00:40:44 They're ready to go right on the field. We're going to kick the field goal, get this game in overtime. Here's what we're going to do. We're going to stick route. We'll throw the ball to commit. I got the field goal rush team. They're ready to go right on the field. We're going to kick the field goal, get this game in overtime. Here's what we're going to do. Let's go do it. But they didn't do that. They let that time keep just dwindling off. Remember, never look at the clock during the two-minute drill. It's how many plays are left in the game. The clock is not numbers. It's plays. And so when you go from 34 to 0 and you don't get four or five
Starting point is 00:41:05 plays in that time or at least maybe three plays, you've just given away the game. Yeah, and obviously once the plan was we're going to try to run that play at 18 seconds, I think he said, and then we're going to try to call a timeout. Well, once I get to 17, 16 and we don't have a play yet, obviously that's when you see the panic coach run timeout move happen a lot during an NFL season I think there's a chance Eberfluss is about done with it all yeah I think there's a chance Eberfluss just pretty checked out as we look like yeah on a sideline look like he was just checked out understandable so I don't want to say a relief to get fired from the situation
Starting point is 00:41:40 but potentially Eberfluss says he knew what was inevitable because it wasn't just that move there's a lot of shit that has happened this year one score games decisions that have been made yada yada yada Caleb saying maybe later in my career I'll do it differently it's like yikes let's worry about this year yeah try to win now yeah let's not worry about if you're gonna be a ten year quarterback which we hope we hope you will you read that quote that's not you're gonna have to bring somebody in that can coach him And I think it's gonna be I think Thomas Brown's done a really good job the last couple weeks of changing the offense
Starting point is 00:42:10 But they're gonna have to do the defense I think you know everybody says well Poles is definitely coming back and and he and Kevin Warren made it very clear But this team is anti Chicago this team is built outside in not inside out you play in the Windy City You got to be really good in the offensive defensive lines. They're not. You know you can't run Iber Fluss's scheme without great defensive linemen. We see it in San Francisco. Same type of scheme. As good as San Francisco is they can't win games because they don't have dominant defensive line especially when Bose is not in there. So it's a little bit of a this is a Chicago problem isn't just coaching there's a little bit of how the team was built as well man if let's say I was to end up being a coach or a GM somewhere sure that O line and D line is right
Starting point is 00:42:55 where you had that is that is legitimately that is the first I think that is the first stop for any obviously everybody says you need a quarterback sure doesn't matter who the hell your quarterback is if you don't have O-line in front of them. I legitimately, like you talk about Jim Harbaugh whenever he goes out to the Chargers and he just lets the skilled guys that are worth a lot of money go.
Starting point is 00:43:16 And who's he hanging on to? Well, the older expensive guys that are on the O-line or the D-line. Like that is who he, and then they use their top 10 pick for offensive linemen and then they go in again and it's like Jim Harbaugh immediately well he has a quarterback already in Jess Herbert but he's like this is where I'm focusing on this is where we're going to be great. Philadelphia Eagles, Nick Sirianni's big takeaway about football because of his dad
Starting point is 00:43:41 and he told Howie is what? line D line Howie Oh line D line So him and I felt all that matter legitimately it is a college college ball And the felt ball is not going to change every little but what happens at the draft is we get all these draft guys And we got you know we got no over there sitting there, too It's all they talk about a receivers they got 27 receivers going in the first got to have a receiver I mean, that's Chicago's problem. They got, you know, Keen and Allen paying 22 million. They trade for DJ Moore. They draft Rome Madunzai. I mean, look, it's great, but what wins games? The Eagles got Jalen Carter dumped in their lap. I mean, to find
Starting point is 00:44:16 a three technique in the National Football League is like trying to hunt for dinosaurs. You can't find them. It's impossible. And they get one late in their lap at the ninth pickover on the draft. And it's like like how long did it take them to turn? That card in yeah, so it's just we have this mentality during football season All we talk about what wins the game is offensive and defensive lineman when we get to the draft everybody talk about what we need Guys get the ball in the end zone. We need all this we need all that no the games one up front Detroit Why do they win the deep offensive line is dominant, right? Why does Cincinnati not win? They can't block they can't run block. They can't control the game. Why is Philly good?
Starting point is 00:44:52 They can control the game I would add one more thing to you the offensive line coach is the most important one of the most important people in any Organization he should be one of the most highest paid coaches on the staff He coaches five players plus he's got to develop some young offensive linemen if you don't have a good line coach We learned this in Cleveland when Belichick and I were together, you know We did not have a good line coach and all of a sudden we hired Kirk Farrens from University of Maine Next thing, you know We all of a sudden we went from being the worst line in the league to being one of the best lines in the league
Starting point is 00:45:22 Because of Kirk and he was such a great line coach and that makes all the difference in the world. Coach Farrons obviously Kirk's dogs help out everything but if I, hey Wren, Wren Baker, Wren you're doing a great job for us. Oh yeah. Athletic director at West Virginia Wren you're doing a great job and I trust whoever you're going to pick and you know that you have to make this pick, right? And I'm not here to add any more pressure. I'm here to help out however you need and to let you know whenever people are looking
Starting point is 00:45:51 for the gig, we should be talking to whoever says we want to commit to the offensive line and do the defensive line. Cause there's enough quarterbacks in college. If you have a good offensive line and you can find a quarterback that can fit in a scheme there. So, Ren, if you could... There's no way he's listening right now. He's probably texting. They haven't texted me. I'll help them, Pat. I'll help them. That's the most important thing. I'll volunteer to help them.
Starting point is 00:46:16 I was about to call FaceTime him and say, hey, we need to fucking offensive line. You are in the middle of this thing. And it goes back over time. I mean, look, you can go through every team. You know, it's how do you get control of the game? Why can't Miami win late in the season? Everybody says it's the weather. I mean, Mike McDaniel's five and 12 in the last seven games the last three years. They can't win because their offensive line never can get control of the game.
Starting point is 00:46:41 Everything evolves around making sure that we, you know, we've got to finesse our way on third and one. That's why if you can run the ball in the red zone, that's why it's really important to look at who runs the ball. I mean, Buffalo's run for 21 touchdowns in the red zone this year. That's because Josh Allen. Hey, Josh Allen is such a weapon down there. He's untackleable, but you got to account for him. And then they got James Cook and Davis that are able to cook off of that. It is a, I liked your thought right there though, cause being able to run in the open grass, we hear from Coach Tomlin, which Tony is about to ask about, first being able to run in the red zone,
Starting point is 00:47:15 the red zone is like running in four minutes. They know you're trying to run it. It's tight quarters, it's going to be hard to try to run. Can you still run it when they know you're going to run it? Those are the teams that inevitably end up winning because they can end games, they can put people out, It's going to be hard to try to run. Can you still run it when they know you're going to run it? Those are the teams that inevitably end up winning because they can end games, they can put people out and they can control games. And that's why the top five performing offensive lines in the trenches with A.Q.
Starting point is 00:47:35 Shipley, if you go back, I assume from the beginning of the season, we'd be able to tell who is going to be the good teams and who's not going to be the good teams seemingly. And now let's get an inside look every single Week for the rest of the year with another season of hard knocks tone is a question for you. Lombo Yeah, Lombo first ever the whole division in season hard knocks kicked off on Tuesday night What was your thoughts on it? And what was your takeaways? Well, I love Tomlin I mean I could listen to Tomlin, read his shopping list and feel
Starting point is 00:48:06 motivated and ready to play. I mean, he's just tremendous. But I thought what he showed in that game, what he showed in that clip was showing the players what it was going to take to win the game and how to win the game and the respect for the opponent and what they needed to do. I think that's one of the most important meetings on Wednesday when the head coach stands in front of the team and goes over the points of emphasis for what has to happen on Sunday. Every Sunday you got to play a different game. You can't play the same game you played last week and every Sunday presents a different challenge.
Starting point is 00:48:35 You know what I said, Zach Taylor said we're going to throw the ball against Pittsburgh and we're going to do something that other people, no, you're not beating Pittsburgh if you're going to throw it all the time because T.J. Watts is going to do exactly what he did, he strip sacked him. So if you want to beat Pittsburgh if you're gonna throw it all the time because TJ Watts is gonna do exactly what he did. He strip sacked him. So if you wanna beat Pittsburgh, you're gonna have to punch him in the mouth. You're gonna show you can punch him.
Starting point is 00:48:50 And that's why Cincinnati is the game went on. What happens? Football is like boxing. The longer the fight goes, the person who has more strength and power wins the fight. That's what happened in that game. The longer it went, Pittsburgh wore you down. And you talk about soft, Cincinnati's soft.
Starting point is 00:49:06 I'm not saying their players are soft, their coaching and style of play is soft. So I think what it demonstrated is exactly what I thought it was. Pittsburgh's a tough minded team. You gotta give Arthur Smith a ton of credit. I think he's done a remarkable job of fixing the quarterback, fixing their offense.
Starting point is 00:49:21 And then Tomlin just understands what it takes to win on Sunday. And the clip of him talking to Pickens about how we're gonna need you later in the game is exactly why he's great. Yeah and I'll be excited to see how they continue to roll with it because Steelers were the only team to win in the whole division for that particular episode so I think it wasn't as easy to show everybody especially after losses because NFL Films doesn't want to dunk on teams Whenever they're losing or whatever the case is so I'm gonna need Tomlin every episode though
Starting point is 00:49:51 I think everyone you know because sometimes with these hard knocks they get Creative they knew and they start you know bouncing around. It's like hey But you know what we know I think what Tomlin does a great job with Pat I think Tomlin takes the a great job with, Pat, I think Tomlin takes the complex and makes it really simple. He boils it down to where the viewer and the players can see it perfectly. And that's the mark of a great leader.
Starting point is 00:50:15 That's the mark of somebody who can take the complex and make it simple. And that's where he's so good. And he uses metaphors to do it, and he can drive home those points. And you could see the team was in perfect harmony with what he's saying and the most important thing is and Chuck knows this too is does the team play the way the coach wants it to play? Does the team have the personality of the
Starting point is 00:50:36 head coach? See this is what's happened to the NFL we have too many guys calling plays that are head coaches their teams don't have a personality Pittsburgh has one so is Detroit so is Philadelphia so does Detroit so does Baltimore yeah I believe Baltimore has personality they're trying to figure it out a little bit though con man's got a question for you yeah Lomba what do you think about Lamar's comments after the game he said his mom cussed him out saying that he's got to run a little bit more there were some plays we were showing yesterday from AQ Shipley in the trenches that there were some lanes but he's yesterday from AQ Shipley in the trenches that there were some lanes, but he's also trying to let routes develop for
Starting point is 00:51:09 his guys so he can still sling the pill around. What do you think about Baltimore right now? And do you think their bye week is one of the best place bye weeks in all of the NFL because of the fact that they can figure out what they need to do to close out this season, right? Well, they gave up seven points. I mean, Tucker's missed extra point, the two field goals. That hurts whenever you're playing in a game, and it hurts momentum.
Starting point is 00:51:30 And I think that was a problem. Plus, they get penalized way too much. I think it's the perfect time for a bye for them. And look, Lamar's gonna play better than he did in that game. Their offense has to play better. But I think what happens to them is, is sometimes in these games, they get a little bit impatient. It didn't happen at the Charger game when they got behind.
Starting point is 00:51:47 They were able to stay the course. But when teams take away what they do best and make them play left-handed, they can't have drop passes like they had. They had two great throws to Aguilar that were as good as any throw in the league. And Aguilar didn't make the catch. So to me, that becomes a problem. I think to me, Baltimore is still a team that I don't want the catch so to me that becomes a problem. I think to me Baltimore is still a team that I don't want to play because they are getting better defensively and that's
Starting point is 00:52:09 been the concern about them all years. Are they good enough defensively? Can they cover well enough? And I think we saw that they did a better job. They held them to 118 yards passing. I wouldn't give up on Baltimore yet. Now maybe Pittsburgh is going to win the north but Baltimore can come back. They've got to figure out this Tucker thing because John Harbaugh is right. There's not a better kicker on the street than Tucker right now, but they got to get his confidence back because I think if he goes out there in a game in January at 45 yards and it's windy, we're not as certain he's going to make it as we once were.
Starting point is 00:52:38 Yeah, I hope he battles through it mentally. But everything we're saying about this Baltimore team and obviously Tucker has to get back right. And hopefully we'll see Lamar do Lamar shit Cuz that's fun and feels like Lamar wants to do that especially against the Giants coming up. That's fun Look out that's especially if Dex he's gonna get him, you know, then here we go. We're off and running They have a ram truck in the backfield to two of them. Yeah, two of them Yeah, Patrick Ricard and Derek Henry. So I 2500 heavy duty
Starting point is 00:53:05 That's right. And whenever they decide to hit that gas pedal third fourth quarter to remember All right, Lambeau last question here speaking of Ram trucks I do believe there is a Colorado representative in the hashtag Ram trucked competition today Yeah, Chuck has a question for you about that Hey, let's pivot away from pro football at college football and the Colorado Buffalo's Travis hunter put your GM hat on okay Lambo I don't know how much you studied Travis at this point I spent the last week week and a half watching him on both sides of the ball and breaking down Mostly him as a defensive back and this guy is a rare, rare talent. I mean he is a freak.
Starting point is 00:53:46 He's got everything. I think if you're gonna go find the best shut down man, press man corner in college football, it's him. I know he's electric on the offensive side. If you're picking, you have a, he's sitting there on the board, okay, and you're gonna draft this kid. You plan, you draft him as an offensive player or a corner? White out of corner. I, you draft him as an offensive player or a corner? White out of corner. I'm going to draft him as a defensive player because he might score five touchdowns, intercept and passes.
Starting point is 00:54:10 His hands are that good. He's never out of balance when you watch him play defense. The guy's always in position to catch the ball and defend her. One of the things defensive backs have to have, everybody talks about vertical speed. Yeah, that's really important. But you have to have great balance to be able to change direction and not have wasted motion and this kid does it effortlessly. It's really remarkable how good and then let's add in this conditioning. He plays all the plays on offense, he plays all the plays on defense and
Starting point is 00:54:34 he never gets tired. And he plays just as good in the fourth quarter as he does in the first quarter. I mean, so to me, I'm gonna play him on defense cuz I wanna put him on whoever the second best receiver is on the team and just take him out and I'll double the first one. But I think to me the fact that he can make plays on the ball, that's the key. Most of the times the defensive backs drop passes instead of intercepting and I think he could. We saw that with Bland last year for the Cowboys.
Starting point is 00:54:58 He had five interceptions for touchdowns. That makes a huge difference in your team. It turns the game over. I think he's going to come in the league and play defense. And I don't think people are going to challenge him very often once you watch him on tape. There'll be a package for offense though, obviously. They'll have a couple packages. We did that with Woodson, Chuck.
Starting point is 00:55:13 Remember we did that with Charles was really, Charles could have been that kind of player too. Absolutely. Woodson was really good offensively and as a returner. Don't you think it's harder to find cover corners like this dude than it is for receivers right now? I think it's the hardest thing to find because I mean everybody gets labeled you're a cover corner and then they don't cover everybody but this kid can cover anybody.
Starting point is 00:55:32 Yeah he is and you talked about his conditioning it's not just like he's playing the same way and forth he's a juice guy for the team. He is a juice guy for the offense, he's a juice guy for the defense, he's a juice guy on the sideline, he's a juice guy and Sellies like, he is like a, some building is going to get very, very lucky whenever he gets added into it. I mean in overtime against what, Baylor, he forced that fumble to win the game. Tackle. Yeah, and that was an overtime.
Starting point is 00:55:57 Perfect form too. Perfect. Lower shoulder, head out of the side, right to the ball. His instincts and reaction, he does play a little bit of zone, they play a little cover too, and he has his eyes in the backfield and he just feels routes and he breaks on balls And intercepts them they throw a bubble screen his way He comes out of nowhere beats the wide receiver block and saws this guy's outside fucking leg off He's so good dude, and then he came up to game day at Penn State and like obviously everybody wanted photos with him
Starting point is 00:56:22 He's like super megastar. Yeah, you're getting a superstar who doesn't drink doesn't smoke no red flags love ball roll for yeah what a genius and let's make sure we're happy for him though if we're around him amen a lot of good things are taking place there let's make sure we're celebrating that hey Lambeau quick pick ten seconds I like Green Bay tonight I take the three and a half on Green Bay tonight I think it's a field goal game I think it's a three right now. Do you still like it? I still like it. I like Green Bay. I mean Matt LaFleur, I think he's 19 and 2 when he's a three point dog or less. Alright ladies and gentlemen, it's Michael Lombardi. Thank you.

Starting point is 00:57:36 The Talks at Table is here at Boston Connor and at Ty Schmidt. Big one for your Packers tonight. Big game tonight, Packers. Big game tonight. Ty is an owner of the Packers. He's got a piece of paper and Paid 700 bucks for that back in the day. I didn't pay for it. It was gifted to me, but someone paid
Starting point is 00:57:51 Yeah, 700 bucks for so I'll congrats to you. Yeah getting gifted a team. I know like that I know that'd be cool. Can you imagine that unbelievable? That'd be so much fun. Yeah thing about you Just living your life walking around and you just get a majority share of an NFL team out of nowhere. Unbelievable. Cool. That'd be so cool. Yeah, it was. You didn't get a majority share? No, never.
Starting point is 00:58:14 Have you ever been able to like even mail your thoughts in? Is there a... No, I think the... Every day? Yeah, I think every year there's like a... There's like a owners meeting, if you will will and it's basically where they kind of just open The gates of Lambeau and let everybody come in and it's freaking fracking. Yes, exactly and power around and hey, you know I don't know there might be something like because you're an owner. Guess what? We're gonna give you 10% off one item at the Pro Shop. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:58:38 I mean, I don't know because I haven't been up to Green Bay since I've been an owner of the team You know, I like to keep my thoughts from afar and kind of let the boys. Yeah, you're a hands-off owner. Exactly, boots on the ground. You judge, you're definitely judging them. Without a doubt. But hands-off.
Starting point is 00:58:53 Exactly. Like an angel investor. That's a good way of putting it. Yeah, you're just kind of watching, judging, but not really being a part of the solution. No, at the end of the day. You're more of a problem-driven owner for the Green Bay Packers exactly
Starting point is 00:59:05 It's up to you guys to fix it. I'm gonna give my thoughts I'm gonna tell you how I feel but at the end of the day, that's what this piece of paper Hey, I'm gonna be around a lot longer than you are. That's right. How many owners are there of the Green Bay Packers? Do we know? Well a lot and I think what they do is, you know, like there's only so many shares But then after like a year or so, it's like guess what we cut these in half Chairs are opening back up if you want to get back in oh yeah I love it I can get another piece of paper if you spend another dude get a bunch this
Starting point is 00:59:32 is one of the best rackets going this is one of the this is like over in Scotland when they sell a piece of ground bigger and you can become like sir or landlord or landlord or lord I believe Lord yeah Zito is Lord Zito because he owns land in Scotland and it's just a little square chunk and they took a picture of it And they sent it to him and they said this is the land that you own back when they used to sell stars Remember they were selling stars. Oh, yeah, people could buy a star and a picture of it We could send to you and it'd be like here's your baby star and you look up It's hard to find you know, so you really just got to only look at that photo. I also have a star Yeah, bingo obviously guys and obviously guy owns land and the sky
Starting point is 01:00:10 Yeah, but he can also own the Green Bay Packers. It is a good racket. We have no honor You know who is the people who do what everybody just send us money for what nothing? It's like an IL you guys are paying an IL deals. There's really no return You guys aren't even getting like a parking spot anywhere, right? No, no I mean I literally like I said I get absolutely nothing out of it other than and I don't even know where the piece of Paper is what? It's at my mom's house somewhere. Maybe didn't didn't never made the move to Indy with me. There are currently
Starting point is 01:00:39 537,000 stockholders slash owners of the Green Bay Packers and And there have been six stock sales, 1923, 1935, 1950, 97, 2011, and 2021. And obviously we know that our generation of people throughout the history of the NFL, we are gonna expedite those more than anybody else. Now granted, there was a 12 year difference in the first one that was trying to get the team off the ground, I assume.
Starting point is 01:01:03 But from 35 to 50, that's 15 years. 50 to 97, that's 47 years. Then we get to 2011, it's 14 years later. Then it's 10 years later. Let's assume that's gonna be five years later, and that's gonna be two years later. And then guess what? Every year, you're getting an opportunity.
Starting point is 01:01:18 And that's what our generation of people do. We have kind of manipulated systems to our own benefit more so than anybody. And why would you not if you were the Packers? If you can get somebody to send in a few hundred dollars for absolutely, it's just a piece of, you're buying a piece of paper. Yeah, put it in your basement, frame it, put it in, you know, put it above the bar in your house. Pretty cool. And then Packers fans, now I heard reproduction rates are going down amongst humans, which
Starting point is 01:01:42 I guess is a big problem. So we hope everybody chooses to have kids if you have the ability to have kids and kids are awesome and all that shit But whenever kid Packers fans are born, what do you got a gift of? Well, if this kid's gonna be a packer owner, yeah, boom. That's a never-ending supply You could sell ocean water pretty much. That's what the Packers are been able to do and you feel like you're a part of it Yeah, without a doubt. I will bequeath my ownership to my daughter when she is of age and Yeah, and we'll kind of just we'll keep this thing going for eons and eons. It's 350 bucks I guess for a share And then if you were to do that times
Starting point is 01:02:17 five Five hundred thirty seven thousand four hundred sixty if they want to re up and get another one five point two million is how many? Actual shares of stock they've sold though. So it's I assume they weren't three hundred fifty dollars in 1920 Probably not but you get in place emails out to all these people that own them say hey another round back in 350 your bathrooms looking a little bare looks like you might need one of these puppies. Hey, good for the backers doing that. What a business. Yeah, smart. What a business. And there's, well, Mark Murphy is currently the president,
Starting point is 01:02:49 right, acting president. But there's a board that does all the voting to you for everything. That's a beautiful thing up there. Got a claim to the throne. That's right, you need to get in the boardroom. You've been around a long time. You've been gifted ownership a long time ago.
Starting point is 01:03:00 Yeah, you're right. You need to start, there needs to be a little make good for your ownership over there. But you know, I'm just kind of waiting until I'm called. Oh yeah. What would you take for that piece of paper? What was that share? Is it 350?
Starting point is 01:03:12 Is that what that is? Priceless. What do you mean what would I take if someone were to offer me? Like if it's stock and you have a share and you say, okay, I want to sell these cans maybe. 350 bucks is what it, if you give me a thousand bucks, I'll give it to you. That's really nice of you. That feels like good returns for you,
Starting point is 01:03:29 but who knows what this Packers team, yodel-yodel-y, that stock is on the rise. Especially with Jordan Love, LaFleur, getting all his LaFleurs publicly from us and many others for the first time, long time. That's not only 350 bucks, that's a lifetime of memories. It is. Chuck, buy that. Chuck, you should be an owner. You should buy that from Ty right now. only 350 bucks. That's a lifetime of memories. It is Chuck buy that Chuck. You should be an owner
Starting point is 01:03:45 You should buy that from time right now Thousand bucks thousand bucks. I'll tell you one, too. I got one. Yeah, didn't you get one? I have one. I think I'm might actually have two. Oh, maybe three Yeah, maybe three and I got one of those stars thousand bucks a pop Chuck. What do you think? See this what happens with order? I don't like when this say the next sale was like three or four years I think it is like 20 I believe you guys you clowns three 26 or they want that if I believe I did I don't know if that's confirmed but I did read that that hey it's coming so they are splitting from 10 to 5 that's only going down dude that's gonna
Starting point is 01:04:18 be every other you would assume yeah very soon by then it's gonna be four grand of pop though so you're getting right now I'll depend upon if they win tonight or not. Can you tonight tonight really? What if it could either lose the Lions? Stock drops. Do you want to sell it? Do you want to sell it back to the Green Bay Packers? What an interesting little business they're running. Mm-hmm. What was that? They're the only ones that had to open their books, right? Yeah, yeah, and was it two hundred million dollars in real estate? They're making a year or something like that. Yeah There's that house for sale right down the street I know I was bought that always like 875 thousand Soon as it came across my can you imagine though?
Starting point is 01:04:56 I mean, I've looked already at what people are like Airbnb and houses for around the draft for two two nights like you You over the course of a season, you could make three X what you buy for that. Yeah, we would turn that into a tailgate place that people could rent out on. Exactly. Yeah, just quickly, just like that. As soon as it came across my feed,
Starting point is 01:05:14 if there would have been a link for me to purchase, outright, I would have done it. I literally, as soon as I saw it, looked sweet. Yeah. Locations right down the street. Open in the garage door right there, and then inside the garage, it's like just already set up for like a tailgate thing.
Starting point is 01:05:27 And then Lambeau is just right there behind the front yard. And that's what makes Green Bay so special. Obviously we think it is a little bit of a racket. A ruse if you will. Quite a move by them to sell. But literally it does feel like it is the neighborhood's team. Like it is our community's team. There's real ownership feel out of it all and
Starting point is 01:05:47 What a perfect place to play which the game was there tonight, you know, cuz we get another snow globe But instead we got a perfect temperature Inside Ford field up there in Detroit Rock, Michigan What a game tonight one half of the hammer dad Cowboys AP Tony's here Where's the money was sitting at 58% on the Lions. Favored by three tonight. Is it still there?
Starting point is 01:06:08 57% it's moved to. Some people moved to the Packers. Well, well, well. Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, is a man who's the all time leading tackler for the Green Bay Packers, Mr. AJ Hawke. Yeah, Hawke. Hawke.
Starting point is 01:06:18 Hawke, when you signed your deal with the Packers, how many shares of the Green Bay Packers did you negotiate into there? How many pieces of the Green Bay Packers did you negotiate into there? How many pieces of paper did you get that said you're an owner alongside your what $450 million deal that you signed with the CBAs? Well, unfortunately, I don't know if anyone's ever tried to negotiate that into their contract because you showed what they've only come up for what six different times where you can actually they open it up to where you can actually buy them. I have some good news
Starting point is 01:06:44 though. It was once six. It's about to be 10 in a shorter amount of time than ever before. Those are going to become available. I think not a bad play. Maybe get a piece of paper. I mean is there any other sports team in the world that has a similar situation? Like it's very unique when you actually look at it.
Starting point is 01:07:00 Very unique, very much like a shared feel, a community feel. It creates a family feel I I'd assume, for the Packers. You've obviously lived it a lot more than I have living in their community for a very long time. Just getting a chance to visit there a few times. It's sweet. It's like a movie. It is out of a movie. And I think the community ownership is a big part of it. Gumpi Soccer. Is there a soccer team that's run this way? Richmond.
Starting point is 01:07:22 Overseas? Raxham's kind of like that, but they got multiple owners not like not this many that's Towns own their team like pay a tax and run the team United used to be like that and then the Glazers came in and took it over the fans were very pissed still are actually still hate The Glazers. Oh, yeah, Jay Glazer gets I don't own the yeah, Manchester United nor the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And he does not. He does not have a lift, no lift.
Starting point is 01:07:51 You just think it's stronger than you've ever done. No, no lift. Do you hear it though, Chuck? Do you hear it at all? Oh yes. I don't know. Now you're making a mockery of it. Knock it off.
Starting point is 01:08:02 See, that is, that is what we don't need. AJ, we haven't really gotten your take on this. And whenever you're with a mockery of it. Knock it off. See? That is what we don't need. AJ, we haven't really gotten your take on this. And whenever you were with the Packers, the Lions weren't the Super Bowl threat that they are now. But obviously, we've all seen and respected the hell out of what has gone on with the Lions. Our conversation the whole first hour, and it's not a doubt, it's just an actual wonder. That is, the front seven for the detroit lions are so banged up and this also
Starting point is 01:08:27 Uh reader and paschal are also out and with the way that packers team can play If they just hand that thing off to josh jacobs and jordan love even is able to take advantage of what comes off to play action Or anything else like that. This feels like this could be a packers night. They're underdogs by three Uh, how do you see it going as a Packers legend? And obviously non-biased in this thing, but what is your tale of the tape this evening as you look ahead? Yeah, I mean, I'm a giant fan of Josh Jacobs
Starting point is 01:08:55 and what he does. I mean, if you watch some of the slow-mo clips of him, of him juking people out, how hard he runs, everything about him, I think tonight, if they want to win, yeah, I think they ride him. I think he could have a giant night, especially on that turf. Probably feel so good. You're coming from Green Bay, you're outside, it's so cold. When you step on, you put your... Sometimes I think you forget what it's like to play in decent weather when you play in the cold a lot, when you practice in the cold. All of a
Starting point is 01:09:18 sudden you got your uniform on, you're like, man, I feel pretty fast on this field turf, bud. And I think that's how Josh Jacobs and the rest of the squad might feel tonight. That's how Toradol feels by the way for those that are asking. Toradol is like your body's just warm immediately you know like that is what Toradol does it just makes you looser it makes you feel looser I don't know if you actually are it just makes you feel that way and then obviously the next day you're gonna catch up with it and you're right because even in those indoor practice facilities sometimes the heating doesn't work. So like they make it cold a lot We would practice inside sometimes when they would open up the vents
Starting point is 01:09:51 So it's pulling all the the cold air through because you're and I'm like this is actually colder than it is outside right now And open the garage open the garage is in these things. So now you're getting a gusty Indoor freezing cold thing. Yeah, you're you're hundred percent, right? But then if you do that, obviously, it's huge space. So like the heating and air, how good is it? It might be chilly in there as well. Like I went up to call the Packers-Lions game. And it was at the Packers. And I got to watch the walkthrough the day before. That indoor facility was free. It was down the road. First of all, remember, we've all talked about that. You got to travel through the community. But then when I walk in, it was freezing in the indoor facility. And then I think to myself, I do remember like, cold days, cold practices, cold practices. And then we get inside and just like how it's almost like you it's the beginning of the season again, for your like your body almost
Starting point is 01:10:40 feels like it's like first day, first everything. It's like, wow, this is just so much better, which ties into the college football playoff conversation, you know, which could come into play here whenever these first rounds kick off with the SEC going up to the big 10 and vice versa. But I didn't even think about that for tonight. You guys probably look forward to getting up to Detroit
Starting point is 01:10:57 or to Minnesota late in those years. Yeah, every once in a while. And I mean, yeah, when I was there, obviously Aaron is slinging all over the place. I'm like, we're pretty good turf football team in do indoors without the elements this guy can really throw it around Chuck How much you believe in that obviously you coach at Miami for the Hurricanes you've coached Wyoming I believe or whatever the hell it is Boise cold as shit. You've Obviously been all over it. How do you feel about the weather in the impact that it has? We'll talk about for the college football playoff situation here. How do
Starting point is 01:11:26 you feel that will impact everything? I think it's real. I mean you can talk all you want about mindset. I mean just look at the Dolphins and look at their record when they go play in 40 degree or less. It's just an example. So you're talking about the hurricane, they go to Syracuse, that's indoors, they still lose the game. All right. But that's a real deal because hey it's gonna be cold, it's gonna be, until you get out there and it's like, okay, you walk in the Lambeau field and you've been in South Florida, you know, Praxton or wherever, Jacksonville,
Starting point is 01:11:52 and then all of a sudden you're playing in those elements. Hey, this is gonna be fun. Hey, get some broth. The broth is great, you know, pregame, that broth is the best broth there is in the history of broth at Lambeau. But once you get out there and shit starts cracking you can't feel your toes your fingers What playing in Laramie 70 220 foot elevation? Where's that? Wyoming when I played in the case, I was right when I saw in those California teams
Starting point is 01:12:19 It was the old wax we had San Diego State and Hawaii they come to town They couldn't breathe number one and number two you catch them in December you know and it's 32 below windchill yeah that's that's some real yeah were you still going headfirst in the piles whenever oh yeah frozen helmet yeah yeah John Runyon special I used to launch to go up I mean us it's only way I get guys down the ground was top my element Yeah, and obviously that was back then that was good back then now. We don't do that speaking of That stuff the Guardian cap Has lost a home on one player's head what we mentioned it
Starting point is 01:13:02 I think it's been a couple weeks now A-chan running back for the Miami Dolphins had a guardian cap for a while start season obviously big smart he took it off he was asked about it here's his answer. I mean I wear it to begin because you know I'm a mom but I just feel like you know I didn't need no more I got a better helmet so I just feel like I didn't need to wear it anymore. Oh so did you change your helmet? Okay what What was it then? What was it now? Or what is it now? Oh, this is like the same. This is like I've got more cushion inside Okay, I love that. He said cuz of my mom. Okay, you know my mom saying hey we could save the brain Why are we choosing not to do that and obviously mom still being around still being that powerful is a great thing
Starting point is 01:13:41 So we have nothing but respect for that, But it does feel like whenever we were told that there's a helmet that is equal to a helmet and a Guardian Cap the way it has been built, we wondered if the Guardian Cap was gonna survive. It has for a couple of people, but this is good for the evolution of these helmets, AJ, I think, you know? I think it's good for the evolution of this whole thing.
Starting point is 01:14:01 Well, just think of the evolutions. Have you ever seen, like, I know guys that bring me and show me their helmet from Ohio State in 1968. Like from where we've come now from back then, it's a different world what those guys were wearing. So yeah, of course it's always going to evolve and get better and better. But I don't know what's like the ceiling. What's the final greatest helmet because they get crazier and crazier looking with different
Starting point is 01:14:22 weird things and growing out of the forehead. Now I feel like I think that's the one that's the guardian cap situation, the one where because they get crazier and crazier looking with different weird things and growing out of the forehead now. I feel like, I think that's the one that's the guardian cap situation, the one where it's real heavy in the front and I think it has a heavy pad in the back as well. Yeah, and the position specific helmets, they talked about how you might see a quarterback
Starting point is 01:14:36 with a helmet that literally just goes like this because a lot of the concussions that come from quarterbacks when they get tackled and then their heads hit the ground like that. So if we add a little bit of a buffer zone there, that could potentially help the impact on the head. But then I think the question always goes back to like, are some heads more likely to get concussed than others?
Starting point is 01:14:58 Yes, yes. I don't, that's my opinion, but I absolutely believe that. And can you test for that? So should we be working on also the testing to figure out whose heads are more likely to get concussed than others? For instance this guy you can see it through your screen every day. That is a block head Okay that right there what you're seeing right there. You see the jawline You see the you see the chin you see that that thing probably has thick skull This is probably a thick skull if you're just looking at it you probably think to yourself this guy well turns out zero documented concussions played in the CTE era yeah like at middle linebacker fullbacks that is this is literally but his head we would assume has a little thicker skull than others just by looking at it AJ no offense no offense. No, that's a great comment.
Starting point is 01:15:45 Thank you very much. And also saying to somebody, you have a massive head is a compliment from people who have massive heads. That's like one of the first things. So I think if we could figure out the testing for who is more likely to get concussions than people that aren't, I don't know how you do that. Science, figure it out.
Starting point is 01:16:02 I think that with the evolution of the helmets I think now we're on to a true like beneficial future as opposed to just like well this helmet is gonna work and then play a whole season it's like well it turns out that helmet did not work as much as we thought it was gonna work well for who though like for everybody or for some people you know it's a, it's a never ending one of these. And I believe in brain trauma being terrible for humans. Some sports have them though, boxing, mixed martial arts, combat sports, physical sports, violence sports, hockey,
Starting point is 01:16:34 a study just came out, but that's also like a part of sport. So if we can figure out how to make it better, I think we're all on board, but we're also on the same page of like, never going to be able to remove it completely. No way. Like that is just a, that's that's a that's a that's a very stupid goal I think that will never be accomplished and I don't think that should be the expectations But I like that we're working to get better on it
Starting point is 01:16:53 Well into what you guys are saying like head size should be a thing Like I don't care if you got to add to the combine like we talked about cam Hey words had all the time on here He definitely has a lower percentage chance of getting a concussion versus a Tua, just because of strictly head size. I don't know what Tua's head size is. I don't know either, but I know that on the scale of normal head to Cam Hayworth,
Starting point is 01:17:13 he's not at the Cam Hayworth time. Should be head weight. Head weight should be a thing to do. Head weight, cause then that would imply more bone structure than brain structure, right? In there? You don't think somebody's looked at that and we're sitting here saying, okay, that's the head size and the weight.
Starting point is 01:17:29 We're just spit balling. All right. I mean, have you just throwing out stuff, con man? Like you should see what the you see. You know what I played in your head right now? Yeah. Don't want to say it. And you know the helmet. Hey, nobody's ever said you have a big head, right? Nobody is. I don't want to say it. And you know the helmet?
Starting point is 01:17:45 Hey, nobody's ever said you have a big head, right? Nobody has ever said. I don't have a big head. Okay, agreed. Concur. Do you ever have a concussion? The peanut head, but that helmet, like yeah. Mom's back in the day didn't give an F.
Starting point is 01:17:56 Cause they let us all play. Thank you for doing that. And we had a Rydell, and it had rope in it with a donut. It was called a suspension helmet. Anybody have one of those? Uncomfortable, yeah. Can you imagine? Yeah, sure, we had those.
Starting point is 01:18:10 And we were straight... Yeah, head down. Are you trying to go back to that, Chuck? No, sir. And then we went to the bike helmet and had the pads in there and then you get in cold weather and they froze on you. Oh yeah. And that felt good.
Starting point is 01:18:24 Getting the helmet on and off I will say. AJ you played a lot more football than me obviously. Grew up in it. Putting the helmet on and off in cold always sucks right? There's not like a time you can. No matter what. That's why I go out to initial warmups in Green Bay. We'd be out there 12 minutes or whatever it is.
Starting point is 01:18:38 I would go directly to the sauna and put my helmet in there to warm up before we went out and ran out the tunnel. So because every time I'd be putting my helmet on, it would hurt so bad and be so uncomfortable, but I couldn't show it, you know, cause I'm punter. Can't. Oh, you'll bruise your ears. I bruise my ears and stuff when you're putting a cold one on and off. And I got a big, I got a rather large dome.
Starting point is 01:18:55 So like putting that thing on, gotta do the pull, gotta do the pull out, but never going to be able to pull out enough. And then the head is going to get, and then the ears are getting bent down. I feel like I'm getting cauliflower ear and then alright punt period down I'm like I can't bitch cuz I don't got to actually hit anybody but this sucks if we could if we could figure out how to put this fucking thing on a little bit better that would be fantastic I think what he was talking about though is he said there's more padding on the inside of the helmet I think it's probably one
Starting point is 01:19:21 of those bigger ones I wonder if they're more comfortable to put on inside you think so What do you think? They gotta be they gotta be much more comfortable I would think you would hope those things used to be had that like plastic Rubberish with the bladder inside the ones now if you look inside it looks like like soft at it There was a guy that styrofoam. I think he was pitching. Oh Star really there was some sort of styrofoam race like racing helmet.
Starting point is 01:19:45 It was here in Indy. It was when you were the coach. The had a new idea, new concept in this. This guy was Simpson maybe in the racing community for to look up like racing suits or racing helmets. The last name Simpson, I think he came up. He's big Colts fan, came up with a new helmet idea concept and I guess he was a fan of mine For my stuff and I didn't have to use as much so he pitched me the helmet to wear. What's his name?
Starting point is 01:20:15 Bill Simpson. Yeah tackles football concussions with new helmet and they were using like some race stuff Those things are sweet with football stuff. They kind of pieced it together and I wore it for a while. I don't know if I was supposed to, or if it was like a okay or not. Super light, didn't feel like- Off season or you wore it for game? Game, I put that fucker on in a game.
Starting point is 01:20:34 Yeah. Come on. Did he get licensed through the league or anything? How'd that work? I don't think so, no. They did it up and- Yeah, I think so, yeah. I think it just-
Starting point is 01:20:41 Sweet. I don't remember how it came about. Nah, I might've been practicing the off season. Did you ever hit anybody with it? Or did you ever run your head into the wall and check it out? I remember thinking I shouldn't, you know, whatever was on my head. I remember thinking that, but oh.
Starting point is 01:20:52 Really? You didn't feel comfortable? But sometimes like those lighter, I remember the lighter ones though, sometimes lighter's like better. Like they got carbon fiber. Like this guy's a racing helmet guy. I assume he did have some sort of breakthrough, but I didn't remember my brain comprehending how this was gonna be good
Starting point is 01:21:10 I if I do recall I think it was OTAs. I don't think I hit anybody I don't think it was during the game because to get to the game They would have to go through the hole They would have to get marked up get okay get approved to get out there So there's no way was that but yeah, I put that helmet on I was like super light and I was like I don't know This is a protecting me from any kind of thing There's no way it was that but yeah, I put that helmet I was like super light and I was like I don't know Too comfortable most I almost feel like this is a little bit of a hat But there's been people trying to perfect the helmet for a long time and I think it's because of obviously they're genuine care of athlete And sport and competition but the amount of money if you were to figure out the helmet could be
Starting point is 01:21:46 forever and all these companies know that age all of them and it sounds like a chance got a company that has been able to Kind of piece together the two best helmet best guardian. Let's piece it into one There's only a matter of time for everything's like that Well, and it'll help to a degree obviously but to what you were saying about like some people I think are just to a degree obviously but to what you were saying about like some people I think are just predisposed to get concussions because like I can't remember if it was a Sunday night game or a couple weeks ago Josh Allen had one of those where he got hit and his head slammed off the turf and he didn't miss
Starting point is 01:22:14 a play like Texans yeah the Texans game and it looked bad it was like oh yikes and he popped right back up and played again and then it's like you know you you immediately wonder well if that was to like what you know just everything that's happened over the last two years like how does that play out so it is just like I think some people are just predisposed to get concussions and other people aren't I um I yeah just got sent in update that the helmet that I was given banned from the NFL. Oh Bill, Sam said. He tried. Thank God.
Starting point is 01:22:47 Thank God, dude. The styrofoam wasn't. But you talk about people having their hits and not the DB yesterday. Yeah. For the Broncos. Who was it? Went up and got the pick.
Starting point is 01:22:58 The McMillan. McMillan. McMillan goes up and gets that pick. He flat backs. K takes big bump. Then his head, bang, right off the ground. And he goes up and gets that pick he flat backs Okay, takes big bump then his head bang right off the ground and he gets up and runs we've seen that same exact thing happen to people and Lights out. Oh, yeah. Yeah
Starting point is 01:23:14 He ends up scoring touchdown to cover for the Broncos and that's in Denver where it's probably cold that field might be a little Bit harder to yeah right here. He Boom, he has that little whiplash head thing that we've seen so many times very scary very very scary it's scary on grass it's scary on ice it's scary in any sport that it happens whenever a head hit professional wrestling whenever you see something that is never good but apparently some this guy's head okay with it yeah you know it's how do you figure it out we don't know but we appreciate that it is getting figured out speaking to figure it out. Kevin Warren former Big Ten Commissioner now
Starting point is 01:23:52 The Big Ten is a great conference. Yeah, and whenever he was leading it it was a he tried to kill football All the same P tone. He has an AP voted the other year. That's facts. He said we're not playing football You know killing football would would mean That's AP tone. He has an AP vote at the end of the year. That's facts. He said, we're not playing football. You know, killing football would mean like kind of trying to make it not exist ever again. He definitely came out during the COVID alongside the Pac-12, but few days after the Ivy League made the same announcement
Starting point is 01:24:20 and he said, we're not playing football, okay? Football season has been suspended because of COVID and obviously the dangers and risks are Pac-12 sister brother conference is gonna do the same thing and Ivy league is gonna do this. And then Greg Sankey came out a week later and said, we're playing football in the SEC. And that's how this whole thing is gonna go.
Starting point is 01:24:40 So then there was big 10 teams trying to get into the SEC. Okay, trying to get into the SEC, okay, trying to get into the SEC for the COVID season. This is no bullshit. This actually happened. This is we were in the middle of the entire thing, pretty much talking about it. So then obviously Kevin Warren, Pac-12, everybody else, push comes to shove, has to back, we will play football. Actually, we will play football. They will play football there a couple weeks late Remember it was a couple weeks shorter than the SEC season. It was all a bunch of shit shortly after that then Kevin Warren leaves Big ten now he's in charge of the Chicago Bears. So then it's like okay, so our viewing is football people
Starting point is 01:25:19 After what just took place is a little bit skewed I think it probably did every business thing he had to do for the Big Ten TV rights deals all of his positive The only thing we could think about is this guy didn't want football and then he had to do football So does he love football? We don't we don't know but he's smart businessman obviously good enough to get the Chicago Bears president job he was Designing the feng shui movements like he's John Taffer for the new suite on Hard Knocks. Okay, I think this would be good, do it. I'm like, damn, I didn't know Kevin Warren had that range.
Starting point is 01:25:50 I didn't know that was in his bag. Now there's a report that Jim Harbaugh wanted the gig and Kevin Warren basically said, I got my own guys, thanks. We'll figure this entire thing out. We got our own shit, move along. Now, have you seen what Jim Harbaugh has done with the Los Angeles Chargers? You're talking about changing an entire culture.
Starting point is 01:26:10 You're talking about changing an entire mindset. You're talking about building a fan base back into believing that they can actually go and win because not only do they have the talent, but they got the team that isn't soft, it's a tough team, it's a together team. Jim Harbaugh's latest move, lunch pails for all the boys in the locker room.
Starting point is 01:26:27 Video was released of Cameron Dicker, I do believe the kicker for the Chargers, showcasing his lunch pail to a cell phone and on there is a bunch of Jim Harbaugh's words. It's a little bit of encouragement. It's a little bit of excitement. And I believe it's just one message when Jim Harbaugh's not around the boys to be like
Starting point is 01:26:45 Hey, this is the type of guys we are and I'm thankful for it AJ when you talk about a leader of men in the NFL Everything that Jim Harbaugh has done and I think you can put MC DC in the same exact way do it their own way Have a great success Much quicker than MC DC had it but have the entire team bought in, it's a beautiful thing. And I love this idea here, because this is him still coaching. This isn't just a gift, this is him still coaching,
Starting point is 01:27:12 finding a different way to deliver his message age. Yeah, the thing is like, I think we take it for granted when someone does come in and they turn a team around like this, like MCDC took a little bit longer than what hardball is doing, but look around, like it's not easy There's not many people doing it at a high level on a consistent basis Especially when you come in straight from college and like he's doing seems to have everyone buy in but if you look around like what?
Starting point is 01:27:34 Do you think for me at least the common the common denominator as people used to say in this situation? Is that these guys are authentic they feel like they're being real that they're not there's so many coaches I think that they get the head gig for the first time they're go man I don't want to lose this thing. So I'm not gonna I'm gonna change who I am I'm gonna try to be what I think I should be and these guys feel like hey They're just there they trust in the process and what they believe in and they're gonna ride it And I think who they are is natural coaches natural teachers natural leaders teachers Yeah
Starting point is 01:28:04 They're like teachers like coaches are absolutely teachers and these guys absolutely Teachers, yeah, they're like teachers. The coaches are absolutely teachers and these guys absolutely know how to do that, know how to get the point across to people every single day. And their messaging, like that was a message to him, to his team. A lunch pail as a gift, it's like-
Starting point is 01:28:16 Hard hat. That's a message. Lunch pail. Bingo, that's exactly what that is. Put your work boots on. Whenever you watch guys like that, what are your thoughts as a coach for 36 years? Yeah, I mean, John and Jim grew up in a football, They grew up on the sideline. They grew up in the locker room
Starting point is 01:28:29 They grew up watching their dad do the same stuff different coaches though, right Jim and John Different approach I mean they're at the opposite end. I mean, yeah Personality messaging the whole deal but same thing, you go into building a, you know, John's deal when I went with him in 2008, Harbaugh, was, you know, build a bully. That was, we were gonna be in Baltimore, we were gonna build a bully. So it's the same mindset, same messaging, same culture.
Starting point is 01:29:03 It's about tough, it's about rolling up your sleeves, it's about going to work. I mean, I love this and it's, to Lambeau's point, he says, we got all these offensive guys, these head coaches that are offensive guys that are play callers, and they're so wrapped up in scheming and drawing plays and putting game plans together just on one side of the ball,
Starting point is 01:29:20 that you're the CEO of the entire team, okay? Offense, defense, special teams. So guys like Jim, guys like John, that you're gonna oversee stuff, but you got time to sit back and say, okay, my message, our culture, our identity, the process, our philosophy, that doesn't change. I gotta find different ways
Starting point is 01:29:41 to keep getting this message across. Here comes the hard hat. Here comes the lunch pail. Here comes the grit chip. Here comes the grit chip. And so those guys that are the head coach and they overseeing everything, they're sitting back and going, okay, we just won another game. We're in a stretch run.
Starting point is 01:29:59 We're in the fourth quarter of the season. It's December football. It's January football. What's the next thing I can do? Because I used to sit there and try to brainstorm and had guys try to talk to about, okay, themes, what's the thing? So we tried to keep teaching the same message, just a different way to deliver it, right? Yep. Different way to say it, but not all another sign, another this, another another quote or whatever. It was still team, it was still grit, it was still grit still, you know run the ball stop through
Starting point is 01:30:26 I like when a team's bought in like that and those are the right things to be bought into The Chargers obviously are and Derwin James after his game-winning pick He was trying to give that ball to mentor in Jim Harbaugh and he actually said I love you guys here This is for you and they're like that's your ball. There was a hug on the field They're all the way in that Chargers team is dangerous. What are the odds a P tone for them to win the Super Bowl? I just looked at a book real quick. They are ninth in As far as best odds to win the Super Bowl at 30 to 1 plus 3,000 AJ obviously there's teams that we think are playing Phenomenal like Philadelphia Eagles are a team that are playing phenomenal Lions have been able to play phenomenal
Starting point is 01:31:03 Are they gonna be able to continue to with all the injuries? We shall see, we will assume yes until we're proven otherwise. The Chargers have a team though, all bought in that is built to beat anybody. Like they can beat anybody on any given day. Like the Eagles run and they're powerful and they're bullies and I respect that.
Starting point is 01:31:18 They got weapons all over the place. It's like the way mentors defense is, they try to cancel that and they're also a physical team. So if you catch them on a playoff game where it's win, move on, lose, go home, it's like chargers could win against anybody in my eyes, any game, they have the capability to win, I think personally. Well, I think you have Justin Herbert.
Starting point is 01:31:37 And then if I'm still correct, like don't they still have the number one scoring defense in the NFL? Is that correct? Still? I think so. But D. Butts said yesterday. If they're in the top five, you have Justin Herbert and you have a defense playing at
Starting point is 01:31:49 that high a level not giving up many points, yes, you absolutely have a chance, especially in the playoffs when we know different games, different elements can kind of change things to where it can take away some team strengths and everything. Maybe play into a team like this, almost like San Diego Chargers, seeing these awesome unis. But yeah, they're fun take away some team strengths and everything, maybe play into a team like this. I almost said San Diego Chargers, seeing these awesome unis, but yeah. They're fun to watch too. That is the thing about the Chargers.
Starting point is 01:32:12 Unis are sick, new facility is sick, social media team is unbelievable, best in the league. It is everything. It looks like fun though. It just looks like they're having fun. Like that's what's cool too. Like it's not the, oh, we're gonna grind it out,
Starting point is 01:32:23 come in every single day and you know, I show up and it's dark I leave when it's dark. This is my whole life like these guys Yeah, they're doing that but they seem to be having fun and have like a good outlook on it Which I guess you got a compliment the culture that they have who's GM. Yeah, of course Your keys. Yeah, okay Baltimore, right? So they got the guys in there the carryovers. They've been a part of so many heartbreaking losses I think they're like if this is going to work we'll buy in but then the new people there They find the right people that will buy in like not everybody is going to be able to buy into a we're tougher than you work Pale our head coach is going to be shirtless and khakis lifting next to you
Starting point is 01:32:58 Like not every player in the history of the nfl that's a good player would be able to buy into that They think it was a joke They would probably mock it ridicule it and if you have one of those guys who's a good player, would be able to buy into that. They'd think it was a joke. They would probably mock it, ridicule it. And if you have one of those guys who's a good player, that can permeate through the locker room, find other people, young people, whenever things go bad, start to spread, this is not how it normally is.
Starting point is 01:33:14 This is not how it's supposed to be. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. Instead though, they've remained like, this is our guy, we fucking love him. And whenever he does something about olives coming out of a jar and everything, we love it. We enjoy it and that's a beautiful thing whenever you create that type of culture. Whenever everybody's all in and you got talent, that's a dangerous, dangerous team and Jim's
Starting point is 01:33:34 obviously done that. I think this weekend will go a long way to a lot of people believing them or not because they play Kansas City on Sunday night and some of their losses this year have been to the Ravens, Steelers and Chiefs. A lot of the talk is that they haven't beat anyone yet, so if they can beat the Chiefs this weekend, that'll go a long way. I um, Chiefs by four, okay.
Starting point is 01:33:57 Favorable line. They can clinch right, the AFC West too right, Kansas City. Eleventh time. Geez. Eleventh or tw 12th in a row. Think about those Chargers fans. Think about that stat. Yeah. Just got set. And then knowing that they got Patrick Mahomes for the next 10 feet. Mahomes only 29 years old, is that right? I don't think he's that old. I think he's 28. Yeah. Jeez. Wow. He was 28 whenever we were listed off. Oh exactly. Yeah he's 29. He's not 30 though.
Starting point is 01:34:25 He has turned 29. Oh, okay. Yeah. But we rattled off all the things he did before 28. And it was like, oh, there's a Hall of Fame career already. And he's only been in here seven years or whatever the case is. What a freak show over there.
Starting point is 01:34:38 And that's why even more so for the Chargers. Good for you. Chiefs have won eight straight division times. Think about the Chargers fans. Okay. Been so close. There the Chargers fans. Okay. They've been so close. There's so many games. Herbert.
Starting point is 01:34:48 If we get back on this one, if we take this, if this guy does this instead of that, we're in it. Then all of a sudden it comes down to the final game with the Chiefs. Chargers have played the Chiefs well, right? Yeah, I've beaten them in Arrowhead. That's like, the Chargers, it's so good for them. And every video that comes out for that building
Starting point is 01:35:02 is a good one. I don't see any negative bullshit coming out of the Chargers ever seemingly since hardballs got to when you win to I mean, yeah They're they're ahead of schedule, you know We talked about it like we expected them to you know At least be very competitive or make the playoffs this year because of hardball and he just he wins that was gonna happen But like anything that happens here on out this year like you not only is it kind of believable but like now you're just start like this this isn't the team you know that we've talked about like they still need a couple receivers like right now they're kind of
Starting point is 01:35:34 they play in LA and everything but like they're if JK Dobbins is healthy like they're built to go win on the road in the playoffs like they want to run the football and obviously have Herbert throw a couple times play action lad McConkey But like they're still you know, like this isn't the final form of like three years from now It'll be very interesting to see how good this Chargers team is Yeah into your point about that like Los Angeles being a destination place for players to want to go play Who knows who they'll be able to pick up but how many Los Angeles destination guys this hardball one on his team true Good question like that's kind of like a mm-hmm They'll be able to pick up but how many Los Angeles destination guys does hardball one on his team true good question
Starting point is 01:36:05 like that's kind of like a Yeah, they got a model they got hurt. They've got the Charger box guy whatever those character traits are oh yeah Yeah for their how about Andrew by the way going back to Stanford awesome I talked to him on Friday night and just like I told him It and granted we were around a lot of Stanford people I was round a lot of Stanford people very quickly in my life very I mean they just popped into my life Andrew Kobe Fleener Griff Whalen goose Dave. I mean there's like pap
Starting point is 01:36:36 There's just so many hard like Stanford people dropped into my life quickly and it's like they're all Stanford guys Like you know, they're Stanford guys These guys are incredibly intelligent. Okay, they're gonna be Very very smart dudes. They're gonna be tougher guys Like they're gonna be the tougher smart nerd guys and then also love ball Like that was that is what the Stanford guys used to be I think and I think they take a lot of pride in what Stanford guys were and Stanford was able to pull players Even if they're being recruited to other places and being like hey, you're a Stanford guy
Starting point is 01:37:09 You're supposed to be a Stanford guy like they took a lot of pride in that I I think he is I don't want to give away too much obviously But like I think he has a lot of pride in that and that's who he's gonna be trying to find So like Stanford charger guy saying I feel like the Steelers know who they are I think the Ravens know who they are. I think the Ravens know who they are. I think this Eagles team knows who they are now. I think the Lions know who they are. Packers?
Starting point is 01:37:30 I think so, yeah. I think so too. I think it was kind of up in the air when Rogers left, but like now that LeFleur's kind of like got his guys in place and he's been able to, like, I think they know who they are. That's a whole nother conversation about like continuity too, because whenever you change over a coach or change place and he's been able to like I think they know who they are. That's a whole other conversation about like continuity too. Because whenever you change over a coach or change over anything or anything it's like
Starting point is 01:37:50 you still know who you are and are you still who you thought you were. It's like never knowing who you are is where the team is just stuck in. That's like Caleb Williams coming out saying oh this will all be better for this having another coach and another playbook. No you won't. I mean how dumb is that? How do you feel about that? He said that. I mean, how are you going to say something like that? Not that, but you get it. Like the whole Chicago situation. How do you, how do you feel about the entire Chicago situation? I just think you go back
Starting point is 01:38:15 to the Hail Mary, right? When it all started to escalate four and two, you lose that game. Stevenson does what Stevenson does. You lose that one, you get a block kick, then you have the mismanaged clock, you don't call timeout, and then you send this port that he knew was done. You could see on his face, he's sitting there and he looked like he's seen a ghost, you know, when he's looking when that clock ran out and MCDC couldn't believe it. He's like, is the game over? The clock run out? And yeah, and then all of a sudden he's looking like that. And then they sent him out to do the presser. How bad is that?
Starting point is 01:38:48 It's bad. Who are they going to get? Maybe they hire this thing. What's up Oregon Duck, the Oregon Duck, the Oregon Duck, Duck, Duck, hey! What's up, Duck? In town for the Big Ten Championship, I see. You look good, you look fit. Holiday season is doing well. Oh, okay, here we go. Ladies and gentlemen, debuting on December 7th, only on DuckFlix, the Duck's Big Ten
Starting point is 01:39:23 Journey. Right here, look, there's the movie. Don't you be adding any, you gotta earn an ad-bub. Listen. Going push-ups. It's kind of cool, Duck. It's got a push-up camera. It's pretty cool. Don't you bring it to him.
Starting point is 01:39:39 No, no, no, no. No, no, no. I was just joking. Oh, right back at you. Oh, he gave him a diaper. He gave him a diaper. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, Oh, he's stuck in his beak. Oh my god. It wasn't an apple either way. Oh waffles. Oh, he's got waffles. Oh, nice. Where's the syrup, Chuck? You know what I mean. Oh, oh.
Starting point is 01:40:09 Chuck got one in his beak. Oh, two for two. Two for two. Good work, Duck. Hey, thank you for the gifts. What are they? That was thoughtful. Wow, we were playing a little bit of war with the Duck.
Starting point is 01:40:19 We thought it was maybe Duck season. I've been watching these guys on the internet. Pooh! You like skeet. We know you like Thought he's bringing stuff to wear the big 10 championship apparently not yeah, oh well we made it there's more no no no No, give him your shirt Yep, that'll do doc. Oh nice. Oh, I like that's good size spring on that thing I don't know about getting that spring for something. Hey, duck. When'd you get into time? When'd you get into time?
Starting point is 01:40:47 This morning Okay, how was the trip long flight long? Did you get tired cold? Yeah, a lot of storms coming in When'd you start your trip? When did you start quacking? Yeah, your turbulence cut in half overnight half stopped Laid up in a little bit of water got got a little nap, got a little sleep sleep, maybe made love with a... Whoa! We got a little ducklings potentially coming around? Oh no no, not for the big game, we're all eyes on the big game. He's clipped. Oh yeah we are focused! He's eclipsed, I don't know, could he have spayed or neutered?
Starting point is 01:41:21 Maybe get your... Sounds like yes. All right, enough of that, he says. We're focused on the Big Ten Championship. How do you feel about this Penn State squad? You a little bit worried? Hey, that's a lion. Lions eat the shit out of ducks. Grrr! Grrr!
Starting point is 01:41:36 Grrr! Grrr! Grrr! Grrr! That's what they do. And you go, woo woo! Cause you, you ducks are a little, what's that one where you're like quick to run off? Skittish.
Starting point is 01:41:49 Skittish, yeah. Skittish. Yeah, you ducks are a little skittish aren't they? You see their legs below the water? Hey, it's so calm. Yeah, it's right there, a lot of movement. Ducks have good handwriting. And he's also, words per minute, very slow.
Starting point is 01:41:59 That's the difference between humans and ducks though. Yup, you're right. That's the difference. That's why we call them it. It is great to have the duck in the Big Ten, I will say. I agree. It is. Duck's entertaining. I don't think all the Big Ten mascot be a good game, but their mascot looks like an old tube sock. On crack. Pretty good. That's fair. Not you, Doc. I'm talking about the Nittany Lion. Looks like he's on crack. So will you have a meet and greet?
Starting point is 01:42:28 I saw Arizona State in Arizona. They went at it. They actually threw it. They would beat your ass, Doc. Yeah. They would. Yeah. I think they would.
Starting point is 01:42:36 Do you see that right hand? Right to your beak, right there. I think there's a... Oh. Oh. Crank kick. I like... Daniel, son.
Starting point is 01:42:44 Yeah, Sensei. You bring a flag to plant? Notice me, Sam Paul. Yes, I say you bring a flag to plant notice me some part Yeah, what are we doing the flag landing? What are you doing with that? Hey Jay talk to oh four fingers We do that we got nine minutes so we're gonna get we'll see if this message gets finished This might be a buck. I'd yeah AJ It's got to hand right into real AJ don't like the flag playing. No, no, it doesn't. No, he doesn't Oh, no, do you like the flag play? Oh How do you feel about the big ten getting four teams in a college football playoff, how do you feel about that? You like that? You like that? You think what's that? You want more?
Starting point is 01:43:28 You think the Big Ten is the toughest conference in all of football? Tell them, Duck. You think so? Be honest. How's the first year been, Duck? Have you been welcomed into a lot of these places you go to? How about over there and jump around? Jump up, jump up and get down! Jump, jump, jump, jump, jump! How'd they treat you over there? Was it good? Good.
Starting point is 01:43:46 Any words tell you to scram? No. No, not really. No, it's been good. What's that? Everyone loves the duck. What did he drop? We do love the duck.
Starting point is 01:43:59 Yeah, we love the duck. Oh. They didn't love you early. Remember they were locking them out of all the- Purdue? Yeah, Purdue. Don't you even think about that? Yeah, we definitely love you, yeah. Oh, love you. When you do were locking them out of all the... Purdue? Yeah, Purdue. Say it, don't you even think about it. Definitely love you, yeah.
Starting point is 01:44:06 Well, you do that shameful stuff, that rockin' out of you too. Yeah, you were humping the rock, remember? Yeah. Put your dick down, huh? I didn't see that. I didn't see that. Oh, you're hugging the rock? You're hugging the rock.
Starting point is 01:44:19 Not because it looked like you were a little bit more hips in your hug. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. That's what we're saying. That hips in your hug. Yeah. Yeah He's crunching his cheeks it was a little bit more just realized Chuck hates this thing Wow You said everybody loves it I agree I thought he does not Like you guys give him a hug. Tell him to give him a hug It's because Oregon beat Boise Maybe Travis Hunter's gonna win it but Ashton Gentry had a hell of a year obviously
Starting point is 01:45:02 Hey, duck You go to Dan Lanning's team meetings whenever he's describing what he's going to do, whether it's gladiator thumbs down or it's inglorious bastards bashing skulls in like he did against Washington. What's this week's message? Do you know? Is it Duck Hunt? No, no, you won't say anything.
Starting point is 01:45:18 Mom is the word. Okay. What if you saw him in the back of Dan Lanning's passionate speeches? Snaps ain't a stat though. Oh shit. So he doesn't like Travis. Oh ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho 114 plays a game.
Starting point is 01:45:39 Snaps ain't a stat. If you're doing over a hundred of them, duck. God he went how many miles did you fly here? How many miles were you able to fight yeah shot they're unbelievable shot snaps ain't a stat though I kind of like that I kind of like that that is the duck shits been sitting there in his nest yep listen to all the conversation this guy's averaging how many snaps and ducks like who cares who cares what are you doing oh you got six turnovers who cares yeah
Starting point is 01:46:04 you have more touchdownovers? Who cares? You got more touchdowns? Who cares? You average over 100 yards a game, wide receiver? Who cares? That's what you're saying, Duck? Geez, Louise. I'm with you, Duck.
Starting point is 01:46:13 He's right on. Oh, Joe! This guy's doing something we've never seen before. We literally just talked about his conditioning and his cardio. The Duck couldn't even make it here from Oregon without stopping two times, probably. You said it was one time. Two times? Probably two times. You stopped two times probably you said it was one two times probably two times you stopped two times your cardio shit it's after Thanksgiving to duck yeah yeah no no no you you what city did you stop it
Starting point is 01:46:40 Nevada okay you don't want to talk about it. Okay. Geez. Had to get out of town. You had to get out of town. Two towns. You stopped twice. Oh, one time.
Starting point is 01:46:52 If you had five fingers, this would be easier. So much easier. Were you playing golf in Scottsdale? You could talk. Yeah. Were you with Biz? Where were you? Why didn't you help Biz?
Starting point is 01:47:03 I'm sure you're flying over top of that. Six Irish gypsies were trying to beat his ass and you're just over top. Well, is that Canadian down there? Have you seen any orbs? Have you seen any orbs in your flights? Yeah, a lot of aliens hawk. A lot of aliens hawk. I can't wait to hear what this is. It's going to be some smart ass line from a ducker.
Starting point is 01:47:20 In Salt Lake City. Utah Hockey Club You the Mormons like you or no Mormons like you everybody likes you yeah Fucking though. This guy has no shit Great Salt Lake. How is it landing in that thing? Okay, yeah, yeah turbulence crashed up so you're a terrible flyer how old are you if I had to get like how many years you've been flying? Nine you're nine years old ten years old is not account. What's a duck's life expectancy? Especially when it's running into a nitany lion on a Saturday I'm worried about you dude with the fights with the flags being planted and the mascot

Hi It's huge because you're not wearing pants either a duck Morgan tries to fly written by the duck Hey, here we go. Oh, yeah I completely forgot about I'm just saying the duck just said right there All right, duck. What do you want to shoot a basketball throw a football?
Starting point is 01:49:17 Throw a football. Okay, you're gonna in this hoop over here Okay, Oh the net or the boss's box Okay, oh the net or the boss's box Either or you put it into a hole in the net or into the final boss's box You will win 30 people $500 who repost this post on X say something nice to somebody and put the easiest way to pay them now This is gonna you picked up the Duke on the dude Wow There's a lot of different balls that are available Duke for the duck picks up the Duke The duck has traveled for the past three days to get here to Indianapolis, Indiana
Starting point is 01:49:52 Took two stops because the conditioning and cardio is a little bit low post Thanksgiving But if this duck could throw that pig into one of those holes over there 30 people $500 for a Big Ten Championship for Oregon! The duck has a hose. Hose, yeah! What the hell? Hose, what a count on it off the wall. One more throw.
Starting point is 01:50:19 One more throw. One more throw. One more throw. The duck for the people picks up the national championship ball from last year. Good omen. Resetting the protection. Autumn, autumn, apple apple. Cheek cheek. Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack.
Starting point is 01:50:42 Go duck! Jesus! God. Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack. Go, Duck! Oh, oh, oh. Oh, Jesus. Oh, God. He's getting a little off, Duck. He's dying. Holy shit.

Starting point is 01:51:04 Hold on, Duck. Perfect. We get some damn control, please we sign off here hold on We'll continue on YouTube to talk live and ESPN plus we'll be back tomorrow over reacting to tonight's game I'll be in Atlanta for the SEC Championship. Cheers. All right, duck. Listen, we're still live on YouTube Take you just blew it on ESPN though. Oh my god Damn shame. Oh my god, duck. You almost took down our CFB sign. That's college football son Phil Knight is so pissed right now. He just said that uncle Phil Phil Knight not gonna be happy with your performance right there Why don't you have a swoosh on the side of your feet? The NIL deal is gonna be huge if you would have made that but instead is there a swoosh on any of this clothes are you an adidas duck there it is yeah
Starting point is 01:51:53 what are we doing yeah there is no we're trying to identify I got Nike's on I got Nikes on I got like you saw no swoosh Those from China better not be fake When no, those are the duck ones three stripes duck one two three four five There's a little feet. Duck 11's. One of one. There you go. There you go. There you go, Doug.
Starting point is 01:52:29 Good call. Foxy said one on one. Is that what you're talking about? What, there are like three of you guys though? Yeah. One of one. There's still the swoosh on all one on one. But are yours one up? So what size are those?
Starting point is 01:52:43 Those my size? They all look like bones boots a little bit. It's size 15. It's 14. 13. Oh yeah, cause there's only four. So size 12. Boom, gotta do the math.
Starting point is 01:52:58 Yeah, that's on me. That's duck life, baby. Speaking of a duck life, you can really make some people's lives a lot ducking better. All you have to do is put a football into one of those holes over there. You can either put it into final boss's box, which is where all the good stuff happens, or to one of the holes on the three nets or three holes that is on the one net over there being guarded by a bear. Yeah. Which could be a Nittany Lion, if you really think about it. Sy a bear. Yeah, which could be a nitty-litty line
Starting point is 01:53:25 Can't really think about it symbolism duck. All you got to do is put that ball into a hole 30 people win $500 duck for the Big Ten Championship to you miss this one Penn State's winning. Yep. Wow That was a mess No, oh no, can the weight of the world on this duck's shoulders Remain up or is he gonna crumble? Duck! Oh what a duck! Oh It's all she wrote. His organs a five seed Duck don't just I mean now you're just making a mockery. Yeah take it serious. Duck I thought this was
Starting point is 01:54:04 for 30 people! Duck, you got to take a little off. Yeah, too strong here, Duck. It's kind of like your performance at Purdue this year. Tranquilo. Calm down. That's what he said. No, it was him.
Starting point is 01:54:21 It was him. I said you got to take a little off. This is the thing about the duck. You just can't talk behind them Here we go duck What's the thing about that mascot that was hitting on a reporter the Miami hurricane Is that it was yeah, I think that you hear about the reporter some experience in the mascot You guys text each other said we can't be doing that. Yeah There's like a welcome to the club situation. I don't That's journalism right there. No, he didn't hear you. He said no you and the hurricane ever been out together in Miami
Starting point is 01:54:58 You guys hit the town. What do you do night before? I could go to different water and holes Town raise a little hell you booze a lot you do push-ups Do you go to different watering holes in town? Raise a little hell. You booze a lot? You do pushups? Pushups. Lift weights and sleep. You're a little bit too strong right now. Maybe you have a little bit of touch here on this particular football thing.
Starting point is 01:55:16 40 people. Holy shit. 40 people win $500. Doc, listen, I'm pulling for you. All you gotta do is put that ball into any hole that's over there. And 40 people will win 500 bucks in this holiday! Man.
Starting point is 01:55:31 Aim to the right ear of the bear, okay? Aim to the right ear of the bear. Is that what you're gonna go with? The left ear of the bear or the right ear of the bear? Well, as we're looking at it, the right ear. Left ear. Left on the bear. Left ear.
Starting point is 01:55:42 As we're looking at it. Here's what I want you a see where the Aim for the beat all right and CFB EMS CF aim for that and it's gonna come right into the hole And take a little off it. That's a terrible idea and do it people throw 40 people $500 getting coached up by coach Pagano $500 getting coached up by Coach Pagano. Oh my god, that was so good. Good throws. That was a good spot. Yeah, the duck has a good ball.
Starting point is 01:56:12 I think it's the forefingers. Must be. Yeah. Yeah, never going to be able to find it. Can't be very grippy either. Is it? Is it slippy? He's getting a spin. I mean, things coming off his hand. Turning it over a bit. A lot of reps. Talk about a moon bill I think you should think about just you know step now great. We don't have any balls left So it's over for you for this particular trip. Maybe this becomes you whoa This might be destiny calibrate dorsal fin That's a Russell Wilson dorsal fin football right there duck
Starting point is 01:56:41 And if you're able to control that particular ball that has been calibrated for a right human hand I believe it's probably a right duck hand as well. Duck This could be some serious damage to the wall. Well, that's the thing about the duck The duck is jacked. He does push-ups for every point that is scored. He flew all the way From Eugene to Indianapolis for the Big Ten Championship and now if he's able to put this dorsal fin football into any hole over there 50 people will win $500 this holiday season and possibly be an indicator for what happens on Saturday at the lighthouse the Big Ten
Starting point is 01:57:20 Championship where the number one seed Oregon team takes on the Penn State Nittany. You didn't even try. What's the effort all about? You tired from the trip over? What do you say? You're tired? You're exhausted? Say no more. Wow. You don't get tired? You are tired. It's a graveyard. Look at how many misses you had Jesus. Terrible. Look you know what it looks like? A pond after somebody goes ducking. Oh no. They come down and then boom boom boom boom boom and then it's down there and that's what it looks like. Geez Louise. I don't love it. I'm just telling you the facts. What about a basketball? Can you shoot a basketball? No way. He got excited.
Starting point is 01:58:06 Oh yeah, you think you can? Yeah, you think you can? Oregon got their first Big Ten basketball win last night. Yes they did against USC. Are you a football duck or you go to basketball games too? Both. What about track? You go to track too? Yeah, cause Speed University, right?
Starting point is 01:58:22 Speed City. Oh, city. Oh Wrestling Coaches all line AJ wants to know if you go to Oregon wrestling meets to do you get do you get involved there? Have you dance boxing they have a rowing Stomp the yard team. Yeah. Imagine if they did have a... Imagine if he was... That'd be awesome. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:58:54 That'd be great. If the duck... We don't have wrestling. Oh. That's probably good. Slicing those legs? That's probably the right play. You got those little bird legs.
Starting point is 01:59:03 You're gonna need a wrestling team. Yeah, you got a little bird legs Other sports Wow Let me pads on no no obviously there's no knee pads. Yeah, we don't see you go to gymnastics Yeah, how gymnastics you do gymnastics or no no no do a cartwheel that BYU cougar I see that BYU cougar does does round off, back flips over golf carts. He almost died. That's the best mascot in the game.
Starting point is 01:59:32 College wise. That Cougar's got. Two ball numbers, number one, but. You know that. Life and limb. This guy. You know that. With a mask on.
Starting point is 01:59:41 Well then he lost a mask at one time, I remember it shot off. That was a problem. And that's when we found out it wasn't an actual cougar, which was fucking crazy. I had no idea. Oh boy. We never, that isn't, obviously that's not a suit. No, no, of course not.
Starting point is 01:59:54 No, that's not a suit. That's a duck. That's a large duck, yeah. It's almost as real as a panda's. Coach. Coach? Did you see? Did you see the?
Starting point is 02:00:04 Yeah, you see that one outside the airport? You see the one outside the airport? Who's your idol? Donald? Daffy? Coach Yeah, who's the greatest duck Bombay Donald. Yeah, cuz you both are shirt cockin it Yeah, no pants. Just sure Except for when he get in the water or what is that? Yeah He's like to live yeah, what about the aph a flag duck? Yeah, is that one a little bit? Right a little bit got bitch made too much pizzazz too much too much hype too early. Yeah, well bitch made duck
Starting point is 02:00:42 I mean the duck on the game day set too. I don't know nobody He wh All right, JB. He whines a lot. He does. The half-lack duck. Yeah, he does. Yeah. I think that's kind of your thing though, isn't it? Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack. Don't you guys like always whine? That's kind of your sound. Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack. You say, you don't say anything. Gotta peep. When you win, say little. Where do you learn how to write? When you win, say anything Got a peep when you win say little No, where do you learn how to write a little when you win say less bingo? That's the duck Lee Corso actually Where did you learn how to write was there a human that helps you in the whole process or what was that humans name? I'm sick at the time master splinter. Oh
Starting point is 02:01:26 No, does that mean the organs not gonna win because you dropped that marker? Could. I mean you missed all those shots. You know, you know, AQ. Don't you be stomping those old duck feet. Until this gets back. Don't you be stomping those duck feet. You better watch that stage with those little duck feet stomping around. Oh, a hissy fit.
Starting point is 02:01:38 He did try a little hissy fit. Little ducky hissy fit. Man, he's got to hold that thing like this yeah he's holding it just straight ahead lunatic yeah long message here geez duck this is who taught him to write right yeah I've taken writing 121 like 20 times at Oregon. I drop them. Oh, I see it.
Starting point is 02:02:07 Smart. You do well. All capital letters too. Pretty aggressive. I appreciate that. You don't write like a doctor, even though you've taken a class 20 times. You do write like a duck and there's a chance that a duck can win 40 people $500 this holiday season.
Starting point is 02:02:21 Now, duck, listen, today's been a fantastic day for our program. We'll find out if it's a fantastic day for you you've made it all the way out here we're thankful you're a big 10 championship game lay up or what what's happening what you gonna do duck wouldn't mind don't get duck out recalibrate hard drive to the cup. Yeah Reverse layup, that's good kick duck right there. That's your spot Watch his toes. Yeah. Hey, make sure the toes aren't on Good check. It's pretty good Hey, make sure those toes are on the line. Yep. If the duck makes this NBA 3
Starting point is 02:03:01 40 people Will win five hundred dollars day three, 40 people will win $500. All you have to do is repost this post, say something nice to somebody and put the easiest way to pay you. Oh, not bad out of that duck. Good job, Kirk. Not bad out of that duck.
Starting point is 02:03:17 Curl. Check ball. Step back. Oh. Oh my God, duck. Oh, catching shoot. Oh God duck Okay, she's 40 people $500 Say something nice to somebody and put the easiest way to pay you thanks for the gifts duck. Thank you. You're the man You're the man
Starting point is 02:04:06 All right on that note we'll take a break That was a big win from the duck huge Yeah, I think came from no out of nowhere started walking out to be clear I did forget that the duck was gonna make an appearance today sure and Joe his ass just walking through there I'm like, oh yeah surprise you Surprise me a little bit if you weren't thinking about it This is decided I think a few weeks ago, so obviously these things just kind of pop up on you out of nowhere and then all of a sudden there's a damn duck walking through the gym.
Starting point is 02:04:32 It's great to see the duck. So much pizzazz. Yeah, a lot of pizzazz. Quick transition from bears, floos, warren, duck. Like boom. But then we came back to bears because we're talking about lions. I mean there was a lot of animal talk there in the one who reigns supreme a Duck, that's right. They got a big one this weekend
Starting point is 02:04:53 First year in the Big Ten they come waltzing in this West Coast team comes waltzing into the Big Ten And can win the championship AJ They're really they are very good. I agree. They're built like a big tent team though. Yeah yeah you say West Coast team they're not I mean they're no they're a win-anywhere team they're yeah. I'm just saying if we're looking at a map it is yeah yeah of course. It's up there. It's the way west. Way west over there. It's wet it's wet it's gloomy it's grimy it's gritty. Oregon yeah. It's not like Southern Cal. Yeah you Yeah, you're right.
Starting point is 02:05:25 That is something to think about. And the trees over there. Redwoods. Smoke them, look at them, good. Big trees. Pine, I think. Okay. I think it's a pine situation.
Starting point is 02:05:36 Beautiful. Chest pass to the duck. Duck gets it. Bank's opening. 40 people, 500 bucks for the duck. That was great work out of that Wonderful one of the football mascots for the big ten championship just stopped by the duck and he had a Bunch of gifts for all of us in the back there that he I don't think the duck was able because they only got four fingers
Starting point is 02:06:04 On each hand to bring all the way out here great gift bag. I'll tell you what hey Oregon's doing something nice In the Big Ten welcome to Indianapolis the $12 tickets is certainly something people are wondering how that takes place Well, Oregon's very very far away. Yeah, very very very far away, but Penn State people I guess I very very far away but Penn State people I guess. I assume Ohio State people already had those tickets bought now they're trying to offload them. Well a man who potentially is one of those people AJ Hawk joins us obviously from the Ohio State. Did you see that ticket price thing happening here at the Loud House Lucas Oil Stadium? Yeah I did I mean I would imagine if you're going to go watch either of these teams play you're going to go to the playoff games and you're going to skip this one
Starting point is 02:06:43 that's why I think it is. So there's a chance that Oregon is in Rose Bowl, I believe. So that is certainly something for the playoff wise. Penn State, there's a chance they host a home playoff game. And it's like, they haven't been in Big Ten Championship conversation though in a long time. I thought hopefully that would carry a little. I wonder if these Penn State people are just like, they'll have travel, they'll have a presence or whatever, but that's not that far.
Starting point is 02:07:08 That's not that far over here. I wonder what half of the hammer, Cowboys, AP tone your thoughts. Yeah. To your point, I think they're trying to do it. So the quarter finals, the Rose Bowl is one of the quarter final games and they're trying to do it like conference wise. So the big organs, number one, I assume they'll be there. So and Oregon fans being so far that makes sense But yeah, the Penn State fans, maybe they shouldn't think they'd be in this not a draw. What's that all about? Taylor Swift I don't know what the concert tickets were cuz I heard I saw Albert Brewer who we have a lot of respect for say
Starting point is 02:07:37 It needs to be in Chicago. Okay, think about all the big ten ties in Chicago. I believe the big ten Office is in Chicago and everything like that. As if Indianapolis wasn't the right home for it. That's the reason why people can't okay all right you think that's the reason why people aren't coming to the game because it's not in Chicago you think people want to go up to 10 degrees up there you know instead like obviously Chicago a beautiful city I have nothing but respect love going there but just painting it as oh it's Indianapolis never had a problem like this before. Nope.
Starting point is 02:08:06 Never, for anything that happens in Indianapolis. So I think this is a little bit of an, I don't love it. I don't love seeing that it's 12 bucks to get into an event in Indianapolis. I don't enjoy that at all because we are, we host all the biggest events. And it's like tickets for all the things
Starting point is 02:08:24 normally tough to get. And it's like this one, like come on, it's like tickets for all the things normally tough to get. And it's like this one, like come on, it's like the high school state championship. This is like a high school state championship ticket to get into the big 10 championship. I don't love that at all time. You would also expect if like, if you were maybe thinking like, Hey, this is going to be too expensive. I'm going to save up my money to go to like the first round playoff game or whatever.
Starting point is 02:08:41 If you're a Penn State fan, when you see that it's 15 bucks to get in, like, wouldn't that just be like an automatic like and I would assume if tickets are that easy to find, then like hotels down here probably aren't that crazy either. Like you would think and like just think like we went to the game last year and granted, it's different because it's not like, oh, I won't go this week because there's a chance they're going to be playing in the playoff next year. But like Michigan, Iowa, like you, you knew like it was an atmosphere probably not going to be super competitive either.
Starting point is 02:09:06 Like going in, it's not like I was thinking like, Hey, I will might win this game, but like it was damn near a sellout. Like Iowa fans travel to the game and granted there it's closer than Penn State is, but still it just, it's crazy. I mean, it's a big game and if they win, they're probably going to get the one seed. Like it's, it's a big game. So is there any chance that Oregon, if they lose,'re probably gonna get the one seed like it's it's a big game So is there any chance at Oregon if they lose loses any ground misses a home playoff all that No, they get a home playoff if they lose Okay, so is there any chance they lose nobody's coming that they don't because there's a lot of people talking about
Starting point is 02:09:39 You know not playing in a it'd be more beneficial not to play in a championship game. Could you imagine Oregon resting at starters, okay? Because if they lose, they would be number five seed. And we've talked to, they're the only ones that if they were, they control their destiny to get to the five seed. If they wanted to get to the five seed. They lose to Penn State. All of a sudden Penn State now maybe they're number one, depending upon what happens with Texas, Georgia.
Starting point is 02:10:02 But Oregon would go to the five seed. They get a home playoff game, and then they get the lowest ranked champion in the next spot. Don't get anybody hurt. Rest another week, get another week of rest. Hey, save your money. And then selling to Big Ten people,
Starting point is 02:10:18 selling to Oregon people like, Big Ten Championship though, and Oregon people just being like, we'll get them later? Yeah, well National Championship, home playoff game, healthy team, another week of rest. I don't like that this is even being talked about. It's wild. AJ, I don't like it AJ, because the championships are supposed to be held in high regard, that's
Starting point is 02:10:40 why they got a bye, but now everybody that's really talked about it is like. Only thing came to my mind is like nobody's coming Nobody's even wants to go the game now because of whatever Well, we're giving away tickets like it's you know bucks like it's 1999 12 bucks to get in is you get a pizza with that? Or I'm gonna kill the place up man Age you think so? I think what I know I know people that they're like They save up money to go to the one bowl game per year that the team has or like Ohio State wise
Starting point is 02:11:10 So I know when there's multiple games and you're thinking hey, I want to follow these teams I hope they make a deep run. I can't pay for three or four games. I can't do that So this is one that falls off your list. Good news. You got you got enough money. What if we bought? You got enough money. What if we bought a thousand things? 10,000 things. I mean, it just did as a giveaway. I did that for the Pacers one of my early years here. There was like 5,000 seats available up in the upper deck
Starting point is 02:11:35 for like a big game. It was like a big game. And the guy that was working there at the time, and I had a good relationship, he since moved on, we did a deal and he gave me the tickets for like five bucks or 10 bucks or whatever and then giving them away was the biggest problem yeah hard no one more that was the it was the hardest part it was like hey how do we give it away and then be who's showing up for
Starting point is 02:11:55 this free giveaway we had homeless people showing up because they thought they had a night inside Cambridge Fieldhouse you know to watch a game to get there turning to how to make a free throw to get it and it just became an absolute So we will not be buying 10,000 tickets, but we will be there We cannot wait to watch that big 10 championship should be a good one between Oregon and the Penn State Nittany Lions Speaking of a good one tonight the Lions and Packers do battle Packers have to win Everybody says to remain relevant in the conversation the NFC the Lions have to win to remain in the driver's seat of NFC home field advantage to the playoffs.
Starting point is 02:12:28 Joining us now is a man who will be on the sideline. A man who played for the Green Bay Packers for nine years. 13 total years in this entire thing. And I'll tell you an absolute dog. Ladies and gentlemen, fullback for the Packers, Steelers and Saints, John Kuhn. Yeah, Kuhn. Sorry we are so late, brother. We got caught up with the damn duck.
Starting point is 02:12:48 We appreciate you. I saw that and that duck can really steal some thunder there. But I'm not surprised. Listen, AJ was one of those guys. You have a dinner party. When do you start? It's four o'clock. No, not really. The dinner starts at five because that's when AJ showed up.
Starting point is 02:13:04 No, this is on us. It's not on AJ. There's a chance I'm a similar acting human being. If I'm not going to actually find real money for being on time, it's going to be tough to find me there at that exact time. We should know there is a buffer period in this entire thing. Football wise, going to lose actual money. You got it. I'll be there. Okay, you got it. I will absolutely. But I need a buffer. I'm going to need actual money you got it. I'll be there. Okay you got it I will absolutely but if they're there I need a buffer okay I'm gonna need a life happens this time a duck showed
Starting point is 02:13:29 up that I completely forgot about. Kuhn we can't thank you enough for joining us you need to know we are all big fans of the way you played football and everything you did so we appreciate you Mr. Kuhn. My pleasure guys my pleasure guys and I appreciate the way you go about your business too, Pat. Even back in the 2014, I believe it was Pro Bowl, the way you work the social side of things around the pool with those strawberry margaritas, right? I mean, right? I mean, that's how this whole thing got started. I mean, we definitely, definitely were cooking back then. That was when Deflategate was potentially taking place.
Starting point is 02:14:02 And we, you know, we know we're maybe gonna if they were gonna disqualify the Patriots we just lost by 30 culture all of a sudden in the Super Bowl though we're out the Pro Bowl in Arizona I mean have a good time I mean having a real good time then there was the internet rumors like oh they're gonna disqualify the Patriots culture gonna get in there obviously wasn't very real but in the moment when you're a little boozed up maybe I should stop boozing if we're gonna be in the Super Bowl next year or next week. Boom, that really threw me into, oh, this guy thinks the flight gate's real?
Starting point is 02:14:28 No, no, no, I'm just drunk at the Pro Bowl. Please don't come after me. Nonetheless, Kuhn, you're the man and your style of football and obviously AJ's style of football, old school, physical, run people over, it's back, it is, all the way back, especially for the good teams. How do you feel about the
Starting point is 02:14:45 Green Bay Packers tonight? The way they can play with Josh Jacobs and that offensive line against that Detroit Lions front seven that is banged up. Is that the story of the game? Because that's how I've been talking about it. You with the Packers boots on the ground. Is that the story of tonight you think or what do you think it'll come down to? I think there's many storylines, Pat, but that's definitely the biggest one is all the injuries to the defensive front for the Detroit Lions. When everybody knows Hutchinson, but people forget Marcus Davenport was supposed to be opposite Hutchinson this year.
Starting point is 02:15:16 Then you got Derek Barnes, John Kaminsky, and then Paschal, a second year player. They just have so many guys on that defensive front that are beat up. And then Alex Anzaloni, who I think is one of the more underrated linebackers in the NFL going down a couple of weeks ago, he's going to be out for quite some time, if not the rest of the season as well. That's a big hit to that defense that really tries to live off of Dan Campbell's bite in
Starting point is 02:15:40 the kneecap mentality. They come in there and they hit you and they hit you and they keep hitting you much like their offense would like to do. So I think the injuries on the defensive side for Detroit is going to play a big factor in how they do the rest of the season. And really when we look at this football game here tonight. Yeah, I think tonight's an indicator of what the Lions are going to be going forward. I think I think we find out not that the Lions are anything other than one of the best teams in football which we have watched. I got a chance to see it with the Colts 24-6 in our building. They started slow,
Starting point is 02:16:07 but they just beat you down. And the offense has so much talent. How many injuries is too many injuries? We find out tonight. Now let's talk about the Packers team that you know inside and out. Vibes good here. Josh Jacobs obviously comes in with a running back. Aaron Jones gets sent to Minnesota. He's having a great year. Josh and the offense seemingly don't miss a beat. Jordan Love, last three weeks hasn't had a turnover. Matt LaFleur's record in December is good. How are the vibes with the Green Bay Packers and what are expectations you think for this team? Expectations are we're just getting started going in this direction and that you look at what happened last year and ironically if you you look at the internet, it's Toyota-thon. Obviously, Jordan loved during Toyota-thon is when everything takes off. But
Starting point is 02:16:49 quite frankly, last year, it was his first year getting started. So it took him some time to build that rapport with the rest of the young offense. And when he did, it took off. I look at it similarly this year, Pat did not play in preseason games like he did last year, and then got hurt in the first game down in Brazil, came back several weeks later, re-injured a groin. So Jordan hasn't really had that consistency and that continuity at practice during the week and in these football games until recently feeling healthy. And now that he is, he's played his best two games in back to back weeks and the offense has been at its best in back to back weeks.
Starting point is 02:17:25 And we're starting to ask the question around here, is Jordan Love just starting to hit that stride that we saw at the end of last season? If so, this Packers team is well on its way to doing good things. I think one of the other storylines for Pat, as you talk about storylines is the Green Bay Packers want to consider themselves one of the elite in the NFC and they've been very good for some time but they've lost three games this year. The three teams they lost to the only three teams in the NFC with better records than them. They need to come out and beat one of those teams before the playoffs come around just to get that internal confidence of hey we are one of those great teams. Can't beat a good
Starting point is 02:18:01 team. Yeah you're great against a crop but can you do it against a good squad? That's a nice motivating factor for a team to kind of get calloused up for a long run during Toyota-thon and to ram truck some other teams. Go ahead, AJ Hawk. Coon, what's the lift floor been like? I guess think about going back from when he got there till now. How have you seen him kind of grow as a coach? He seems to be very comfortable on the sideline and what he's doing very confident. Have you seen like him change throughout the years during his time? Well, definitely AJ. I remember talking with Lafloria his first year and he said the most difficult part was being able to compartmentalize what it takes to be a head coach. Now you're not just watching film, creating plays and coaching those
Starting point is 02:18:41 plays up to the players. Now you've got to do a TV show. Now you've got radio stuff. Now you've got to talk to executive committees and you have all these different responsibilities. And I think he is, he has gotten to the point after his first three or four years where he is very good at compartmentalizing those separate parts of what it takes to be a head coach.
Starting point is 02:18:59 And now he can knock out the ball stuff as good as they become the offensive game plans here for the Packers, especially when they didn't have Jordan love this year were exceptional to me. It's the best thing that I've seen out of Matt LaFleur since he's been a head coach in Green Bay, the ability, how many teams around the NFL do you see get a backup quarterback in and they look a shell of themselves and the Packers hit the ground running dedicated to the run game and really came out stronger after those games with the back of quarterback and hard to say that about
Starting point is 02:19:30 many teams. Yeah Malik I remember him running down the field and how like confident everybody was too and you talk about like a culture and being able to build it's like LaFleur's team feels like they got it this swag and I think that's a lot of Jordan love too, huh? This dude's sweet. This guy behind the scenes, he feels like a, everybody obviously came out about him loud whenever he became the starter. All of his teammates saying things that they didn't have to say were going out of the way
Starting point is 02:19:55 to say them about him. He's the guy, huh? He's the perfect man to follow Brett, Aaron, and then now the Packers torches with him. He feels like the right guy for it all. Yeah, Pat. He's so chill, man. It's one of those things where he scores a touchdown and it's like a fist pump. You know, it's not an over the top celebration. He throws an interception. It's a simple unsnap of the helmet. It's not a put your head down. It's not an oh, woe is me type. So he's just so even kill at all time.
Starting point is 02:20:25 And when you, when you have that as your quarterback guys can respond all for that. They don't, they don't necessarily have fear ever strike into them. Like, Oh my gosh, where are we going to go? They always believe that with him taking the calls and executing the offense, that they will have a chance. And because of that, this team, they've done some pretty exceptional things on the offensive side of the ball, you know, this year, even with the struggles that they had. So I think everybody feeds off of that energy and everybody kind of has their own part in this offense. But Jordan Love is definitely the guy that
Starting point is 02:20:58 everybody follows into the fight. Good for you guys. Ty Schmidt, one of the 500, no, 5.2 million shareholders, purchasers, purchasers of the Green Bay Packers. Ty Schmidt, ladies and gentlemen. Yeah, Mr. Kuhn, first and foremost, I'd just like to say thank you for putting your head on the line for the Packers for so long, not only in games, but from what we've heard in practice with AJ just fucking disintegrating his teeth into dust on cold December days during the week
Starting point is 02:21:27 So I really thank you for that. I appreciate that. Love watching you play you talk about the offense They've been obviously very good over these last few weeks But the defense is starting to kind of hit their stride to last time they played the Lions though I think I want to say the Lions you know combined for like 160 or 86 rush yards or something like that and Packers didn't really do much to kind of deter them. What do you think that matchup is gonna look like tonight? Especially the Packers down a couple guys but guys like Lucas Van Ness have really stepped up since the Preston Smith trade. Yeah I would say this every
Starting point is 02:22:03 week that goes by with Jeff Haffley as the defensive coordinator, something looks better. Something gets a little more attention to and something gets fixed. Pass rush was a big problem early in the football season. He found a way to create, you know, one-on-ones with, with offenses in the third down category where they weren't really getting those one-on-ones before. And a lot of it is, you know, simulated pressure is where they get a, a crosser or a picker and a stunner and things where they can design guys to get free. And, you know, similarly in the run game, sometimes you might have to bring a little bit of pressure on first and second down, turn those run blitzes into
Starting point is 02:22:40 past blitzes. And I think that might take its place here tonight, especially when you get a team that the first time you go against them, they do rush so well against you. Everybody knows Detroit, two headed monster, great offensive line, you might have to bring an extra guy to the party, try and get those gaps cleaned up. And if they do set back on play action pass, you know, AJ, you just turn that rumblage straight to the quarterback. You just turn that rumblage straight to the quarterback. You talk about Sonic and Knuckles. Is that what we're talking about? Oh yeah. Talking about Jameer Montgomery. We're talking about Knuckles, Montgomery doesn't eat turkey.
Starting point is 02:23:13 No, it doesn't. Right, does not eat turkey. Carrot. Steamed carrots. Yeah, steamed carrot. He was really good. And you talk about Jameer Gibbs, Sonic. And he's just, whew, he'll hit it and get it.
Starting point is 02:23:22 Gone. And then this guy's gonna pound you. And that's the two-headed monster. It's not thunder and then this guy's gonna pound you and that's too good a monster It's not thunder and lightning. It's Sonic and Knuckles, right? That is what this is. Yes. Yep That's pretty good. That's pretty clever. Yeah change their IG profile pictures. They had the cleats They had the Sonic and Knuckles shoes on. Is there another one of those movies? That movie was alarmingly good There's another one coming out third ones coming out. Yeah, Jelly Roll I think just released a song with I just saw a music video Jelly roll sonic and the other the blue one's in Kerry was Jim care no
Starting point is 02:23:48 Dr. Robotnik yeah he's a painter who is Jim Kerry Jim Kerry paints yeah yeah but he's acting again and he's dr. robot doctor he was dr. bot he was inside but I don't think Jim Kerry was in the track I think it was just jelly roll sonic in knuckles I'm a knock is kind of a dog huh? Wait till you see Shadow. Who's that? That's the newest one. There's another one of these things? Shadow built in a lab. Hedgehogs just come in all different sizes? What lab? What country? We shouldn't talk about that right now. Oh you're right let's move along. Look out January 21st. Hey let's talk about uh hey uh Coon got a big pop out of that uh we have questions about football as a whole now as opposed to just tonight and we appreciate you taking time. I see your your head shape we've
Starting point is 02:24:35 talked about this a lot you know we've talked about this a lot you were a full back door in the CTE era okay in the NFC north we understand and we've heard the stories from AJ Hawk about literally every day in practice Neither of you wanted to say yeah, let's go easy even on that one You take a massive shot in this entire thing. Neither of you wanted to go easy on each other cut from the same cloth speaking of cloth, how do you feel about Guardian caps and Follow up. Do you think some of your toughness comes from growing up around the Amish people? I will hang up and listen to your answer. I got nothing to do with the Amish people. They were the other side of the river. I grew up in York there in the Lancaster side. That's where
Starting point is 02:25:15 my wife grew up. So I know about them. I have no experience, you know, scuffling with them. None at all. I do wonder how we do. I think you'd be the right guy for us to go take on the Amish. I think you would be the right guy. Really? Yeah. Okay, yeah. Fair enough. I know they can build the hell out of houses.
Starting point is 02:25:32 So I mean, they're competing right there. Very good. Very good with that stuff. Where does the toughness come from? Well, Pat, I don't know what you were doing at eight years old, but when I was seven, eight years old, I wanted to be like my older cousin who was playing football, tackle football at that age. Right. So we'd go into backyard and he'd have all his friends. He's two years older and they would all beat the shit out of me because they were all bigger than me. Right. So they were all two years. They had
Starting point is 02:25:57 the head starts. They're all beating on me, beating on me. Oh, you get into little league football now. Now these guys don't hit too hard because I've been getting hit by my cousin, all his friends for years So I'm kind of used to this stuff and it's just how often do you see kids playing tackle football in the backyard anymore? I guess over here Remember he's still walking like school and football practice over where they live You still got them playing tackle football after Thanksgiving dinner? You had them go out there and take each other down?
Starting point is 02:26:27 Well, there's nothing organized about it. They just find a ball and they start tackling each other. There's no there's no out of bounds or anything. It's you know, you know the game they play. When he's talking to the guy with the ball, you know, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, okay. Yeah, kill the ball and tackle that person. Kill the person with the ball.
Starting point is 02:26:41 Of course, I remember that game. But I appreciate the fact that you, yeah, definitely obviously that's that's what his cousins were doing to him so when he starts playing tackle football but like whenever the era and the style in which you played which is a lot of head-to-head contact when Dr. Will Smith comes out with his movie the concussion movie and then now they try to like evoke okay yeah so what are your thoughts because like I have friends that when I watch that movie that played ball played position I'm some of yours. I'm like, hey, you need this You need to go get this checked out and the immediate response is oh shut the fuck up propaganda
Starting point is 02:27:17 Okay, and just move forward you literally had to experience this I assume is a fullback through that era with all the development of everything Is there any conversations with family or anything that you have? You know Pat I'm a fun guy So I like to say stupid shit from time to time and every time something stupid would slip out of my mouth for about a 10 year period it was CTE He's got CTE everybody would just point at you and say CTE and it's like listen. I know I played fullback I know I did that in the NFL, but no it's not not CT. I'm human. I say dumb stuff from time to time. That's all it
Starting point is 02:27:49 really is. How do I feel about Guardian caps? I mean, to each their own, if they wear them, they wear them. I remember Dana Stubblefield when I was watching football back in the day, used to have this plastic helmet that would go over top of his helmet. And it was like a Guardian cap before Guardian caps. How do I feel about the whole concussion settlement stuff? I mean, I feel bad for older players who did not have the medical coverage that they needed to have as they were as they were post football for a decade or two. And, you know, the NFL has gotten better with the last CBA and some of the things that they supply to veteran players. And I'm proud of the NFL for taking that stance. But boy, that concussion settlement
Starting point is 02:28:27 and the way they went with the rules and the player safety and everything to give the image that the game is safer. But is the game really safer? Cause watching Trevor Lawrence take that hit this past weekend, you can see every time you tell the people that the game's safer, it gives this inherent risk that we can go faster,
Starting point is 02:28:45 fly harder, and really do things at the last minute. Yeah, the game's always gonna be violent and physical. I think that's what everybody's kinda realizing, you know? And there was that era where the NFL, I think, had to publicly say there's a problem because they were getting attacked from outside worlds, not just sports world. They were getting attacked from like the health department.
Starting point is 02:29:02 Politics were coming after them. The entertainment world was coming after everybody. So the NFL had to be like, yes, we acknowledge it. We're making a lot of money off of these guys and there's a problem. But I think the water has kind of found its level. I think, I think it has kind of found its level. And I do believe just like to your point
Starting point is 02:29:18 about the guardian cap, like if that's gonna make somebody feel better, do it. But the evolution of helmets and learning more about it, I think the sport is always gonna be very violent but I think we are getting to a better spot. But speaking of the sport being violent, there is a cyclicalness to football and right now Kuhn, your position is getting popular. Come on, Con man. Yeah Kuhn, how do you feel about the fullbacks now? Obviously Ricard and Juszczyk have been doing it for quite some time in Baltimore and
Starting point is 02:29:42 San Fran but there's a few other guys kind of coming into form now Scott Matlock for the Chargers He's been kind of their utility guy playing offense defense special teams everything What do you think about the position now and where it's gonna go from here on out? Well, take a look and and see like like you just said out there and San Diego Everybody knew hardball was gonna come into this thing and bring himself a full team, right? They just knew they just knew he was going to do it. Right. CT. They just knew, they just knew he was going to bring a fullback with them. Sean Payton out there with Burton in Denver. You just knew he was going to bring a fullback with them
Starting point is 02:30:20 because they want that type of physicality. They want to be able to run power. They want to be able to run lead. They want to be able to run the lead. They want to be able to run a play action passes off of them. And a lot of this comes down to personnel matchups, right? How do you get the defense to match up to your personnel groups and can you get them into the, the defensive personnel and the coverages that you want them to be in to combat what you're putting out there? And the physicality of the game today is not a surprise to me
Starting point is 02:30:46 Because as I was getting out of the game 15 16 17 Everything was just starting to rotate to that cover to shell and I would beg beg our offensive coordinators Run Eagle run 11 or not. I'll have it run Eagle run 20 run a full back, a half back out there, three wide receivers, get them in nickel cover two, and we're going to run on them all day. And it just started, it was on a cusp and nobody really wanted to jump into those deep waters at that point in time. But man, you've seen that really take off now there's, there's no mistake that the resurgence of the running backs now, a couple years ago, these guys couldn't get contracts. Now they're being talked about in the MVP race. So the dedication to the run game and
Starting point is 02:31:31 that always starts up front with your offensive line. Those are two of the biggest reasons why you're seeing the physicality really pick up in the NFL this year. Hey, so how do you feel about tonight's game score wise? What do you think it ends up being tonight? Well, I think it's gonna be a high scoring game specifically because of the defensive woes that that the Lions have they just have a Lot of injuries and and I'm not I'm not gonna discount their offense and Jared golf being able to put some points on the board So I think it's gonna be a high scoring game And I think if Jordan love protects the football, the Packers, these last three games have made a jump and absolute jump in a red zone offense. If they're efficient, and they don't turn the ball over, I think Green Bay wins this one.
Starting point is 02:32:13 I think it's gonna be high scoring though, and anything can happen in those types of games. Hey, Kuhn, what's one or two players for us maybe to keep an eye on the people aren't talking about that might jump out tonight? That people aren't talking about, that's hard because Packer social media talks about literally every single player. But yeah, I would go on the offensive side. Right?
Starting point is 02:32:37 I think Don Tavian wicks is primed for a big game. I do I think it's time for him to make a leap, make a jump, make something happen. And not that people don't know him because people know every wide receiver on the Packers Tucker craft as well. Um, as somebody that I just absolutely love. You talk about physicality, Pat, that he will eat a face. That guy is nasty. I love him. Um, and then on the defensive side, JJ, Enoch Bari and Lucas van Ness are two guys that we're looking for. Hey, just one more tick, just one more tick of production and this defense can really start taking off. When was the last time you ran your head into something?
Starting point is 02:33:15 By accident or on purpose. Just in general. Yeah, see, the other day I was trying to do some stuff outside. My wife has these really low sconces on the outside of the house. So it's really easy to just take a little piece of skin right out of the forehead on those things. Yeah, especially with the size of that thing. That thing. Hey, by the way, since you're talking about,
Starting point is 02:33:35 you said Sonic and Knuckles, but Jameer Gibbs, do you ever see the size of that guy's neck? Like he's got a neck like Takeo's spikes. Like it just, and I don't know if he has a tiny head or just a huge neck, but take a look at Jameer Gibbs' neck. Like I feel like he could be Knuckles as well. Here's your saying,
Starting point is 02:33:55 we're almost discounting his Knuckles-ness whenever we're just giving him just Sonic. That's like the Thunder Lightning combo. Brandon Jacobs in a mod Bradshaw. In a mod Bradshaw was was supposed to be the lightning but like he broke his neck like three times I think because he would oh he does have that try look at that thing. Yeah, yeah shrugs. We're shrugging we are Wow AJ he's getting on that machine used to get on and just wiggle the head sideways about 50 more way neck man What was AJ like as a teammate?
Starting point is 02:34:27 AJ was the best. He was the best. He is an absolute monster and you know, his diet was one that was rather interesting. I think it rivals Aaron Rodgers diet in terms of uniqueness, but he was an absolute beast. One of the best teammates you could have. And hey, I'll say this for a guy, know that that that started a big-time position Mike linebacker or guy that started a big-time position Every special teams meeting from beginning to end that was AJ Hall paying attention taking notes coaching guys up Yeah, he was that kind of guy Wow
Starting point is 02:35:02 Yeah, he's that kind of guy Wow, right. Holy shit Not surprised. Yeah, not all thrown in there how to get thrown in there I got thrown in on a punt return once Kuhn against the Cleveland Browns and they ran a clinic on how to Yeah, they baited me. I thought oh, I'm not here we go. I'm good to go. Boom. I'm getting knocked from the side I'm getting picked. They're running games laughing at me. I was better on punt team But you said never again is what he said. Yeah no, I never, I said I'll try it. You saw what happened to me out there. You can throw me in there. But I gotta, I need to do something.
Starting point is 02:35:30 Oh AJ tried to bail it in. Yeah he said listen I'll show up, I'll take all the notes. He put me out there seemingly not working out. You can continue to put me out there. When I got on punt return I realized these guys know what they're doing. They have tricks that I have not been on punt return in a while. Tune, I think the way we heard the story I don't remember who
Starting point is 02:35:45 was from but you and AJ neither of you decided to concede a day there's no brother-in-lawing between you guys for like literally like seven eight years straight is that true? You know and the shit pisses me off too to this day because I still don't understand why neither one of us could give half an inch now I would block I would watch AJ watch AJ sashay through here and with other fullbacks, Corey Hall and if he got matched up on a linebacker, Michael Finley, he's just out there patty cake and hand fighting. But every time it was me, I had to put that Ry-Dell targeted right for his neck because if I didn't, I was going... And see, that's the difference
Starting point is 02:36:22 because if you tried to brother-in-law with the wrong person and you guys weren't on the same page, you were taking one. And I was just never going to take one from AJ. And I just think he, I just think he knew. I just think he knew all I was going to do. And I'm still pissed about that. Hey, we want to let you know, I hope if I ever am a general
Starting point is 02:36:41 manager of a team or a coach of a team, that everybody has the same mindset there at some point Somebody should have stepped in been like boys. We get it guys. You did it We got tough guys, okay, that's great. Go ahead coach I got a lot of pressure on me John to pick the right side in tonight's game I'm on a bad snide. I've lost probably I think five or six in a row. But looking at the secondary for Green Bay, I know Jaiar's out, right? Valentine's out. So will it be in base defense when you got two corners out
Starting point is 02:37:16 there, will it be Nixon and Valentine? And then when they go nickel, will they move Nixon inside? And will it be Stokes at the other outside guy? How's that going to work in your opinion? Yeah, yeah. And they've actually been cycling through Stokes and Valentine on the outside when they're in base as well. So they've been trying to find ways to get unique. Javon Bullard has been dropping down into the nickel spot quite a lot, quite a bit too
Starting point is 02:37:41 throughout the course of the season. He's a young rookie that's been shown a lot, quite a bit too throughout the course of the season. He's a young rookie that's been, been shown a lot of promise there. Um, but, but quite frankly, that that backend goes by Xavier McKinney, their coach, you put him back there, you expect him to get everybody lined up in the spots that they're supposed to be. And as long as he's back there, um, calling stuff out, they're always going to have a chance. I mean, they lose a little bit of athleticism with Jair being out a
Starting point is 02:38:04 little bit of experience with Ballantine being out. But these guys can all play football. It's the National Football League and it's next man up. And we talk about where they're banged up at the edge. Russia, we're banged up at corner. I don't know which one is a better spot to be banged up at. And so far in their depth chart. Okay. We appreciate you taking the time. I don't know what your schedule is. We're about to do a segment that I think you would love if you want to hang out and kind of Help us with called Ram trucks or you gotta go. We understand either or How long I got till 330 Eastern time? ladies and gentlemen
Starting point is 02:38:41 for the first time this season We actually have two Ram trucks that'll be commentating over a Ram truck segment. As you may have known, or if this is your first time watching, Up For Grabs is a 2500 heavy-duty Rebel Ram truck. Obviously, it feels like you're on clouds when you're riding around no matter how shitty the road or trail is. It's got the power to pull anything out of any situation ever. The technology is up to date, so you're flying around in style and when you hit that gas pedal that diesel engine goes RRRRRRR ram ram ram ram ram ram ram ram ram That is currently available on Up For Grabs, John Kuhn
Starting point is 02:39:28 Do you know who could win that particular Ram Truck, John Kuhn? I do not know, who would it be? We don't know either Each week there are four contenders from College Ball From one side of this country to the other Who have a Ram TruckED hit in their game. Somebody will then tweet to us, hashtag RAM TRUCKED. The name of the player, the time in the game,
Starting point is 02:39:51 and the hit in which occurred. We will then scan through them. We will find three contenders each week that take on our one reigning champion. Let's get to this week's contenders. There were a lot of good ones. First, out of Kansas State, Rams' state, we have Ram Payne on the campaign. Pick up, double leg, tackle, John Kuhn.
Starting point is 02:40:16 That could be you. How do you feel about the Ram Payne, John Kuhn? Man, I love that. And the running back even tried to get his pads down, but couldn't even get them down fast enough for that defender. That's a big time hit. When you pull the heels up, when the heels are coming up, that's a big time hit. Yeah. A little scoop and dupe there. That's Ram Payne. That's the first contender for this week's Ram Trucked Championship. Let's go to the Duck Truck 2.0. Ladies and gentlemen, running back Jordan James. Oooooooooh! In a rivalry game, John Kuhn sits his ass. God! Boo! Now I believe he lowered his helmet and that maybe should have been a penalty or could have been a penalty. It was not a penalty. Remember these ram truck hits cannot be penalized on the field.
Starting point is 02:41:02 We do not want to promote nasty hits. John, couldn't you love seeing a running back do something like that? I do, and I think it's more impressive than a tackle. To be honest, you can't use your hands, you can't scoop the legs. And if you're knocking him ass over teacups, I like the run better than the tackle. AJ, how do you feel about the defense
Starting point is 02:41:18 getting pounded by the dark truck 2.0, pal? Well, I can't completely disagree with John. I agree. I played running back growing up, not in the NFL like John, but yeah, I'm okay with it. Yeah, but how do you feel about the running backs being able to do the- It's garbage. If they call penalties on defense, they should offense, but I don't think they should call penalties on either team for
Starting point is 02:41:36 lowering their helmet in that situation. Okay, okay, you're saying the way it's ruled is garbage, but that play's certainly not garbage. But if I get run over by a guy doing that, I'm not looking for a flag. I'm looking to get in the tunnel and get out of there. Smart. I'm looking to head home. I'm going to change my name.
Starting point is 02:41:53 All right, let's go to the third contender for this week's Ram Truck out of Colorado. Shiloh Swamp! A nuke coming from the safety position. And obviously a first down his head and Ollie Gordon tells him that, but boom! She's legal hit shoulder to sternum. Ollie Gordon's big dude obviously picks up the first down. Shiloh has had a few of these
Starting point is 02:42:19 that could have potentially been earlier in the year. They were all flagged for helmet to helmet, late hit and things like that. This one was no penalty. John Kuhn, how do you feel about that? Coach Pagano getting cross body, gets a head on the alternate side, stops momentum completely. Clinic. Put it on real. Love it. Hell yeah. John Kuhn, that could have been you if Shiloh Sramder was coming down the middle. You know I love it and I'll tell you why Pat, there are some times when your angle is not good or not conducive to really putting those pads down and you should really just
Starting point is 02:42:49 try and take the bump and go in the other direction. Shiloh puts it all in there and if you see it correctly, he does a little whirly bird himself so he takes a little bit of it. I know what that feels like. You get up and you say, ah shit, probably shouldn't have tried to run through that one. But he does anyway because he's fearless. I like that aspect of this. Oh, he's a little whirly bird. He does't end up looped through when he's back there and then he
Starting point is 02:43:07 gets up having a good time he knows he knows his whole body felt that he connected on that one yeah wow what a shot from Shiloh Shramders now do any of those three have a chance against our reigning defending undisputed shout to Paul Heyman hashtag Ram Trump champion they've been the champion each week for the last seven weeks John Kuhn this play right here from Mount Union the Mount boom DB Weston Arthur now that this Weston Arthur is obviously incredibly agile, durable, tough, physical, just like a Ram truck. Hell yeah.
Starting point is 02:43:49 And Weston Arthur has been the hashtag Ram trucked king thus far. Will he be toppled this week by any of the three contenders? We shall see. You can vote on who should win this Rebel Ram 2500, heavy duty, beautiful piece of machinery from Ram Trucks. At X, on the thread below this particular video, there is an option to vote. Now, there was a lot of votes last week. There were. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 02:44:15 There was a lot of, the cow equipment manager came in second, but boy, 16,745 votes, 42% to 41%. Mount Boom remains champion. Wow. They're saying there might've been some shenanigans. What? Some people are saying, we don't know anything about that legitimately.
Starting point is 02:44:32 We have no clue, but we do know these four contenders, including Mount Boom will be available to be voted upon on X in a matter of moments. Who deserves the Ram truck? Good luck. That's awesome. John Kuhn, I think you would have been on there a lot if we would have been able to do that. on X in a matter of moments. Who deserves the Ram truck? Good luck. Lots of luck. John Kuhn, I think you would have been on there a lot if we would have been able to do that.
Starting point is 02:44:49 Ram would have had to pay a lot of money to the NFL for that to be the case. But nonetheless, out of Shippensburg, we would have found those clips as well, Kuhn. VHS, do you guys roll VHS? I mean, cause that's what you would have had to have done. We didn't have those fancy kind of recording devices we were still using VCRs and stuff back then. You being a Shippensburg alumni, out of York, being a tough son of a
Starting point is 02:45:13 bitch, it's just such an awesome thing. Legendary. We appreciate you, bud. Pennsylvania legend. Have a good one tonight. Good luck to your team and we'll talk to you again. Ladies and gentlemen, John Koooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I don't know how long we could do to coo. That's a good run. Yeah. That's interesting because they're not booing you, you know. No. No. Ah, they're saying. Moose.
Starting point is 02:45:53 Well, that is his name. Moose. I know that's why I do Moth, so you avoid the confusion. What is the confusion? Well, you don't want to go somewhere and have you hear moose's a cat and they're booing me, but if the people are said more Then you know, I don't know There's no with Think there is and yours I know about in real life. I don't know. I don't think so. All right, I'm trucked John What a fantastic third hour right there, right?
Starting point is 02:46:27 John couldn't have a night. Oh You think you're gonna get any better? You know Get fountain Pepsi in Yeah No, they don't serve coke there. Definitely Mountain Dew instead. Boom. We appreciate you.
Starting point is 02:46:47 We got to get, we'll get one of these sent to you. Came in a box. Please. Mika's Pizza Hut sent holiday glasses. And I'm like, I open it. It was fond of them. Yeah. And I'm like, those.
Starting point is 02:46:58 Wow. Every day is a holiday when you're eating Pizza Hut, I guess. But yeah, it is a holiday. A holiday. This is the cup. This is it. It is. And we've been just chugging out of these things. So I believe it is.
Starting point is 02:47:08 I believe right now they have a special boneless wings special. Yep. Big bones. Oh, you're gonna scan that QR code. Nobody out pizzas the hut. No one out wings the hut as well. And the boneless, also very good.
Starting point is 02:47:26 Yeah, without a doubt. We would like to go on record once again stating the Bone-in Wings at Pizza Hut, because they have fryers in their shops. Fry them up. So this isn't a microwave situation. No, no. This isn't like a broil or oven situation. They have fryers in and so their wings can be great and they are great. Bone-in wings, we are big.
Starting point is 02:47:49 The boneless wings though, got a good amount of meat on there. And the sauces which are on the bone-in wings are also delightful on the boneless wings. So right now there's a nice wingiest bundle from them, 16 boneless wings, two order of fries, two dips for $15.99, that's a family meal. Yeah, without doubt. For $15.99, shut the a family meal. Yeah, for about $15.99. Shout out to Pizza Hut doing that.
Starting point is 02:48:07 But don't sleep on the bone-in wings. They're the best in town, unless it's the town's wing place. Sure, mom and pop shop. OK, like the local wing spot is probably going to have the best wings. But other than that, Pizza Hut, their wings can compete with anybody. The amount of meat, the texture of the wing,
Starting point is 02:48:26 and also the sauce flavors, good flavors on it. I think they need to be, they need to be pushed. Yeah, kinda push those to the forefront. Yeah, because their Pizza Hut's obviously, pizza's the best. But their wings, real deal. Top notch. Yeah, I mean, maybe if you're a bit hamstrung on a budget,
Starting point is 02:48:43 you're a college kid maybe Maybe and you're thinking hey I you know I need just the best possible deal right now in that case Get yourself the bonus wings and you get yourself. You know a couple couple things of fries But if you're thinking you know what I'll spend a few extra shekels just a few nothing crazy Then I'm gonna get the bone in wings, and I'm gonna I'm gonna you know appreciate that decision for a long time They're so good. I've been putting it to the test. What's that the wings? Oh, yeah What have you been trying other places or you've been getting them to the house get them to the house? How good are they? They not the real deal? Oh, yeah, absolutely. I mean you guys
Starting point is 02:49:21 Trying them here. I'm like I never knew we had a pizza hut in Boise. And it's two minutes from my house. Oh my God. What a dream. I know. So lucky. What a dream, Chuck. Oh my god. Two minutes?
Starting point is 02:49:32 Son of a bitch. You can bike it over there? I could walk. Oh my. I could get the steps, pick it up, walk it home, and then not feel guilty. I seen it on Zillow, actually. They started listing how far a walk is to the nearest pizza?
Starting point is 02:49:46 They do that's good idea makes sense they do like malls this far Center of town is far pizza hut seven-minute walk schools schools in the area How far is pizza hot rating the three closest pizza? Yeah. Yeah, if you want to move houses I think I'd be a smart decision because that house automatically in my eyes that price value is going through it. It's the only reason I bought my house there's a Pizza Hut within like five minutes. My last house guess what Pizza Hut wouldn't deliver. Well moved. So I told my wife I said hey sorry we gotta move and we did and I remember this house had a potential situation yeah and who came through for you that night? He thought it all the time who comes through for me every night
Starting point is 02:50:30 Be tough seven days I don't eat it every night you order it every every night I order it it comes through and every morning every morning that there's still some leftover And I you know need a quick pick me up for breakfast every afternoon We're around here. You need a personal plan yesterday without a doubt. I did get a personal plan yesterday How could you not how could you not you open your phone go door dash and there's a personal pan staring at you Please perfect amount of cook on the cheese. Yep. So it has a nice little you can tell it's been cooked It's melted but not too melted. You're not gonna burn your face.
Starting point is 02:51:06 No. It's gonna be just red. Perfectly on the pepperons. Oh! Crispy pepperons? Did you hear it? Crispy pepperons. Pepperons.
Starting point is 02:51:15 That's pizza hotini. Yeah, exactly. What? What? You got something to say, fucking say it. What the hell was that? Yeah, Anthony DiGiuloliot you got something to say about Hmm, huh pizza hut teeny nobody
Starting point is 02:51:30 I'll set nobody cheers to you. Cheers. That's getting these cups. Here's boys. Great cups. I guess coach There's some wine left over from two weeks ago if you want Yeah, I finished it chugged it. I would not recommend that wine every day of the week either. I would recommend it though. Age. No one else beats the hut. No one out AJ's. AJ Hawk. It's true. Boom. What is that? What is that? Red. Boom. Don't worry about it. Here we go. Cheers. What? Don't worry about it. Excuse me. Don't worry about it. Don't worry about the things. It's the same like pre-workout or Janine situation. Just tastes thing. It's the same like pre-workout, arginine situation.
Starting point is 02:52:05 Just tastes good. It's sweet. You need something sweet with a cigar, it helps. Oh, you're pairing with a... Just tastes good, yeah. Tastes great. The palate helps. How much urine's in there?
Starting point is 02:52:16 Pepsi, like Fountain Pepsi or Fountain Mountain Dew at the hut. Did you just water to mix with the aminos or is this the one you put the urine... It's all water. There's no urine. No urine. Is that Jack 3D? Never been. Never been in urine.
Starting point is 02:52:29 Is that hydroxy cut in there? You got hydroxy cut in there? Bad idea. Hydroxy cut had a run, didn't it? Yeah, Trump's brain is back. It had a run. Jack 3D coming back could change a lot of things. What was the super pre-workout?
Starting point is 02:52:40 And no explode? There it was. And no explode. I had to run with that, yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. It's all coming back. I talked to him to who cheers cheers to the hut cheers thanks for the cup yeah well what they still
Starting point is 02:52:56 have those cups oh that's what the holiday cup fucking holiday cups I was I mean that's crazy I was crazy. I was very flustered You know Speaking of Klon There's been some clownish picks haven't there. Oh boy. What's the record against the spread on Thursday night six? And six who is this guy? we were chit chatting about how great this guy was against the spread holy shit this guy's an anomaly holy hell this guy's seeing the board and all of a sudden he must have flew a little bit
Starting point is 02:53:36 too close to the Sun because all of a sudden this night started he lost one game all right he lost two games. What? He lost three games. What? He lost four games. What? He lost five games. What? Can this guy fucking see the field at all?
Starting point is 02:53:51 People are starting to ask. Yeah. I did like the ice cold photo because that is how you are, but what I could sense underneath that outer layer of ice was a heater waiting to begin. In tonight, in the NFC North, Chuck Pagano, busts out of this ice and goes back on a heater for the rest of the season, all the way to the Super Bowl. That is what's on the line this evening. Cause if he loses again.
Starting point is 02:54:16 He's done. Pick him for his job. Do we even do this anymore? Exactly, what's the point? Now all of a sudden we're, we're creating, we're engineering losses. We are, just like Tomlin says, we need to engineer a win. We're engineering a loss whenever we say, hey, listen, listen to this guy.
Starting point is 02:54:37 So tonight is the night. Do we ever see Coach Pagano again? I hope. Me too. Let's go to the night. Do we ever see Coach Pagano again? I hope. Me too. Let's go to the board. Chuck, Lions favored by three at home. Yeah. Against the Green Bay Packers. Some say this a must win for both teams. If the Lions want home field advantage to the playoffs, which would be quite a benefit, must win this one must win Packers want to remain relevant in the conversation and any NFC dance and everything must win
Starting point is 02:55:09 this one you must win yeah I feel like you should feel like this is my swing life or death no it is and I know you know it is this is why we this is backs against the wall I mean this is absolutely dire straights di D-I-R-E by the way yeah interesting spelling yeah yeah I thought it was like dire like yeah like a dire wolf like you're gonna die it's not it's like dire the word dire. Pocked outside your hotel. Just 6 45 a.m. wearing a blue sport coat. I dreamed that happened to me last night. It was crazy. Dude the video is movie. Yeah then I Defend
Starting point is 02:55:51 the pose the pose Sheesh, we're gonna find out about that guy real quick. Yeah, I guess you gotta pay I thought he got out No, yeah, you gotta pick that picture up his face already. No a guy not a professional This the guy with a machete. No this guy with the silencer. Yeah the silencer from 2075. Did you see that? Don't watch it. If you didn't see it, don't watch it. You should watch it. You don't want to know. Just don't get into the insurance business I think. Yeah. You should be worried about January 21st. Well if you're in the insurance business, do your job. We all need to. That was wild what you just did there. What He's not dire di re right yeah
Starting point is 02:56:26 I was not die like walking outside of a hotel and 6 45 a.m. Is the CEO of a health care company and that's it Game over Yeah, he's very dead on yeah He's in diet the diarist yeah the states rest in peace well yeah rest in peace man That is. What insurance? Was he really? Yeah.
Starting point is 02:56:48 United. And I think if I was at United and I was number two in command. Change of things? I'd be. I'm good. Hunkering in. That was wild.
Starting point is 02:56:57 That was crazy. The more we learn, the wilder it gets. I will say, Bailey McCombs had a personality profile on this guy within two minutes of seeing the video. Yeah. It's gotta be an assassin. This is something great. That kind of looks like an emotional. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:57:14 Notice the gate. The way he handled that. I don't think he's getting paid that much. Yeah. The left the shell casings. The way. The reload. Yeah. The way he went about it. The mask too.
Starting point is 02:57:24 He said, feels like he's watching movie This is somebody who's not happy with that insurance company That's a little what Bailen coma says as soon as we see the video right right in the middle of a video camera Almost to yeah almost Too quick it was it was like as soon as he saw it personality profile Huh take him show no no actually just walked away hopped on a city bike and then See ya see ya six forty five there's somebody Personality profile. Take him shelf then? Huh? Take him shelf? No. No, no, no. No, he actually just walked away, hopped on a city bike, and then...
Starting point is 02:57:47 See ya. See ya. 645, there's somebody standing. They got him? They got photos of him from surveillance cameras, allegedly, obviously. It's the internet hoon. But he's wearing a mask. Mask, hoodie, no gloves, which I think is...
Starting point is 02:58:02 To Bill's point. Bill's big thing, which is thing. He's not wearing gloves. Amateur. As soon as we see the video, as soon as the way the story was going out, like, oh, this is out of a movie. This is in a set. Like, this is... Something's happening. This guy knows something. This can't be real life. Holy shit, this is movies.
Starting point is 02:58:18 And then, that's what my angle was thinking. Me too. Just immediately was thinking that's CEO. And then, Bailinailam Thomas was like, You guys got it all wrong. A little sloppy. Nah, that looks like it. Wake up fellas.
Starting point is 02:58:30 This guy, they didn't give a claim or worked for this guy, got fired. I think it was a claim. I think, I think it's what they're saying, which made us all kind of learn about how it's all kind of happening. And boy, I don't know how there hasn't been more pissed off. Yeah, the CEO's wife said that he'd been getting death threats. It's like John Q
Starting point is 02:58:49 You remember John Q For the heart surgery. Oh, and so that's out Sad movie. I cried that one where he goes to jail. How about whatever he said he starts flexing out there real I didn't have a child at the time when I watched I couldn't imagine watching that now and then what's this citizen? Lobbob I didn't I think that is kind of what we got going on. Those two. Oh, that was good. Yeah. PS, I love you guy. Yeah. Jerry Baller. Yeah. Kingly and I just dog. How? How? How? Scoot of the. So what we need is you need to win this. Hey, you better win. You need to get this one right. You need to get this a lot online. Let's go to the tape.
Starting point is 02:59:25 Yeah, let's go to the tape. Let's go to the tail of the tape, shall we? Tail of the tape. For Chuck Paganos, pick against the spread on Thursday Night Football. Interesting numbers, right? Sure. Saw the against the spread. We went through that one earlier. Two explosive offenses. We know that. I'm with Kuhn on the fact that I think it's going to be a high score and a fair. Defenses are ranked up there. These two defenses, good against the run. All right, Detroit a little bit better than Green Bay. They both take the ball away at a high, high rate.
Starting point is 02:59:55 Plus nine, plus eight turnover. Plus nine and plus eight turnover margin. So points scored a game. They both can put points on the board. Points allowed Detroit a little bit better than Green Bay. The turnover margin we saw that we talked ad nauseam about the players that are on IR significantly. A ton more for Detroit than Green Bay. But they got some key guys.
Starting point is 03:00:17 We talked about, you know, two guys on defense, right? Jair, three guys, Cooper. Game records here, yeah. Let's go to the game records. The floor, not good against Campbell there. They got a ton of game records, right? There's so many explosive players and you got two great quarterbacks, you know, can Jordan not turn the ball over? Tonight that's gonna be that's gonna be the key and there's both these secondaries then take the ball away So there's a chance for some turnovers in this deal
Starting point is 03:00:44 So there's a chance for some turnovers in this deal. You talked about Sonic and Knuckles, the runners there. Jacobs is a weapon. Watson and Reed, they don't have Dobbs. But they do, I like Wicks. I like Wicks and Kraft is a machine. And LaPorte is a machine. You've got two of the best tight ends featured tonight. I mean, there's so many.
Starting point is 03:01:02 Two of the best quarterbacks, two of the best tight ends. I mean, yeah. And that's why, I mean, you just look at that and you see defenses that are missing key pieces Especially the Lions like how are they gonna? How are they gonna perform? How are they gonna show up and and stop this run game? They gave up some yards right in the first game to Jacobs so That'll be interesting. But these safeties, you know, we talked about McKinney's got seven We got you know, Kirby Joseph's got seven interceptions.
Starting point is 03:01:28 Branch is an absolute, you better like have your helmet buckled, have your mouthpiece in. What did they say on NFL films inside the NFL? Bill Belichick did a full breakdown. It was a ABB, anybody butt branch. Basically like you're throwing the ball anywhere, butt branch. Because because I guess he is he's the one on that defense. He's an absolute dog and in the first game He got kicked out if you guys remember for that. I actually thought about Joseph because of all the takeaways I don't know if he got twisted on it, but they're both they're both lethal
Starting point is 03:01:58 He only got Branstone have the interceptions that Joseph does ABB. I think was the name of the segment anybody but branch Okay. Yeah, I forgot about that Fox. You just said he got booted early against the Packers in the first game branched it He I can't I got knocked out. Mm-hmm. They threw a little pass on the sideline He came over there rattled this guy's cage. Oh, yeah Out the game ah, let's go back to that first game What are some things you think that these teams are going to be looking at from their week 9 matchup? Look at I mean again We go back and talk about Green Bay what they the only thing they didn't do is they get in the end zone
Starting point is 03:02:33 They were one for four in the red area They go right down the field on the first drive seven minute drive Foxy talked about it and and they they got a wide open route, number 30 Brooks, right, the running back, got him on a wide, they bring pressure from the court from Jordan Love's right side and he misses, and he misses, they got to settle for a field goal. And then it goes back and forth, Detroit goes down and scores, they have other opportunities, we're going to see some, you see the numbers and other than, you know, third down, they were three to 12, 25% in the red area, and they had the one pick six.
Starting point is 03:03:06 I mean, this game should have been a hell of a lot closer than it was. I mean, you make four trips to the red area, and you only come away with one touchdown. I can't see that happening again. You saw, you heard Coon talk, right, about their red area the last three weeks, excuse me, how improved it's been? Yep. And Jordan loves back in there, and he's starting to feel it a little bit? Yeah, that tune point was pretty interesting. He was like, towards the end of the year last year, he played his best ball because he was
Starting point is 03:03:32 like finally figuring it out. Then this year, he stumbles out of the gate with the injury early, then he gets back, then he's out, then he's like he's finding his groove. That was an interesting take that I could certainly get behind. Like hey, the guy's finding his rhythm when he wasn't able to at the early part of the season right time to find his rhythm yeah way out of thought yeah yeah every year every year or at least last year in this year but yeah yeah it's coming to any new trick yeah all right let's go to some plays from this previous meeting on week nine here
Starting point is 03:03:58 here's Jordan love oh which okay Here we are. Yeah. So this is third and three situation. Hey, really? Hey, listen, I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really,
Starting point is 03:04:12 really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really,
Starting point is 03:04:20 really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, he ends up, I think, you know, checking this thing down. It looks like he's supposed to look off. They're gonna, they're showing man coverage because in third and two to six, 90% of the teams in the National Football League, Pat and the boys, you gotta play sticky coverage, you gotta play tight coverage.
Starting point is 03:04:35 They're showing middle close. They're gonna try to roll to a disguised Tampa two. Watch the middle of field open up. Right about the same time that Jordan dumps this thing to the back here to Jacobs, cause it's only third and three, so he's thinking, hey, okay, coach probably told him, hey, just dump this thing off,
Starting point is 03:04:51 look off to the left, blah, blah, blah. But look at the middle of the field, something that they could certainly come back to tonight. Okay? Okay. Something that they could certainly come back to tonight. Is that Watson running down the middle? Yeah. Yeah. So, I mean, when you do this,
Starting point is 03:05:04 if you don't get enough depth as one of those guys disguising. Wow. What a big play. This is the one we just talked about Pat. Okay. You got the back it's it's third down and five in red zone driven down the field. Alert alert. They know they got the matchup that they want. They bring pressure from love's right side. They've got a free runner all right but now they get it one guy picked up and he panics a little bit He drifts away doesn't have a speech set and he throws a little bit behind Brooks here and he can't make the play That should be a touchdown right there It should be seven nothing right now, but instead they got to settle for a field goal
Starting point is 03:05:40 So I don't see The last the last three weeks, right? Rhythm, timing, chemistry, confidence, mojo, all that stuff coming around for this kid. I don't see him missing that tonight. This is an absolute, this is unguardable. This is like, if I'm coaching this DB, right? This is Nixon on St. Brown, one of their game records. You can't, you can't play this any better And he comes off in the sidelines a great throw great Chris catch. What do you want me to do?
Starting point is 03:06:10 What is you know this game time? Hopefully did golf can't make this type of throw He puts it were only one guy and one guy only this frickin alien st Brown can make this throw this catch fourth and goal fourth and goal. Thank you Foxy. That is golf's throw though. They love that throw. Anytime we need something it's sidelined to St. Brown every single time. All right, let's talk about another missed opportunity. I think that makes it seven three right? So now you come up it's fourth and six and you got what a 45 yard 46 yard field goal here and boom. Only miss of the year thus far. Only miss of the year only one only one and then what it should be? 7-6 game right here right yeah, so what happens is they miss that and they go down and get a field goal and
Starting point is 03:06:56 Then you get this happen to you I Mean should be a one-point game right now 7-6 but instead they miss the field goal and now this turns into now 17-3 at half and you know you're playing from behind against a great Lions team. You don't want to do that because all they're going to do on the other side is take the air out of the game, pound the rock, pound the rock, pound the rock. They did have an opportunity late in this first half. They went back down through a 40 yarder clock run out so they didn't get any points.
Starting point is 03:07:24 So 17-3 instead of 7-6 is what you're saying exactly and then the Lions got the ball after halftime and I believe they went down and got a field goal or a touchdown right after yeah I got a touchdown I was like a 10 minute drive so took the air out of it and it was 24-3 and that was the game this is one of the first things that Chuck wanted to talk about this morning AJ and as soon as he was bringing it up, I'm like, oh it feels like I know Which way you're heading in this particular game Chuck Would you like to make an official pick at this point? The Packers are either getting three or three and a half depending upon what the book is saying at this exact moment
Starting point is 03:07:57 They're checking Three three Packers plus three Lions minus, Lions at home 11 and 1. Taking on a 9 and 3. Green Bay Packers. Division game, this is going to be a field goal game, this is going to be a tight ass game. I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if Green Bay, I'm going with Green Bay. I'm not going to be surprised. I think there's just too many injuries on this Detroit. And if anybody can overcome it, like I told Foxy this morning like it's this Dan Campbell led Lions unit But I just think at some point the war of attrition is gonna catch up
Starting point is 03:08:33 with this group from Detroit and To nobody's fault some no nobody's well We need to make sure that is reiterated charge to the game You might have like a fifth stringer and at D line at some point tonight If a couple injuries happen, which and that's up in the yeah, which happened happening in the games Yes, and losing guys each week on that deep in the same exact area a lot gets his and the floor right
Starting point is 03:09:00 Six years head coach there, right? He became the all-time second not the all-time but second winning his coach in the history in the first six years head coach there, right? He became the all time second, not the all time, but second winning his coach in the history in the first six years of his tenure. Oh, congratulations. He just passed like Cower and I mean, like some absolute hall of fame legend coaches. I don't know.
Starting point is 03:09:19 He's number two now in history. I don't think he's. Wow, LaFleur, dog. Guy's a winner. He also isn't scared to get the crowd riled up. Even in Detroit. Yeah, he'll do it tonight especially at the pack fight. How do you think them eyebrows are gonna be tonight? Phenomenal. Yeah. Cards in that beard? Prime, brother, it's on prime. Yeah. It's gonna be top-notch. Kirk Herbstree's there. Remember? Al Michaels is there. Peter. He called us back. Peter Doggs. What's his deal? Why didn't he answer us? Dog. Why didn't Kirk answer us earlier?
Starting point is 03:09:46 I don't know. Probably busy. Playing catch with D. Pete taking a walk. Maybe D and Pete and Kirk are all playing catch with John. Working on his nine round. They bring their gloves? No answer.
Starting point is 03:10:02 He called us middle of the show too. Probably had something to say, I missed it. Maybe giving us middle of the show too. Probably had something to say I missed it. Maybe giving us a piece of information that makes you believe the Packers are gonna be able to keep it within three. Where the Lions can be able to do what they've done to a lot of teams beat the hell out of them regardless of who plays. AJ are you with? Yeah, of course. All right. AJ do you like the Lions or the Packers tonight? I like the Packers.
Starting point is 03:10:26 I was going Packers to begin with, but then when I see Chuck, not Wath went at all. No Wath. Yeah, I feel good about it, Chuck. Put me on the Packers plus three as well. Oh. I don't like that all of us are doing that, but I think the Packers are playing very good.
Starting point is 03:10:42 And I think the Lions are very banged up. And I don't think this is an indicator that the Lions aren't gonna have success this season. I still think win playoff game and everything like that. But I think this Packers team is about to say, hey, excuse me, we would like to be a part of the conversation where everybody talks about who can go and who can't.
Starting point is 03:10:58 And I think tonight's one of those nights. And I'm thanking the heavens, the Lord, Jesus Christ, everybody else that we get lines backers to kick off week 14. Amen. This is a hell of a game. This is wonderful. All right, let's get the hell out of here. AJ, can't wait for you to be here tomorrow while I'm down in Atlanta for the SEC Championship, College Game Day,
Starting point is 03:11:19 obviously Saturday morning, 9 AM Eastern, from the convention center down there. Last year was the same spot who's that call me that's good that's that's the best in all of college that's the best one they have controversy though about it is what's her who's so they need to sort that out amongst themselves before Saturday sure they will and they will and they've already beat Texas. At Texas.
Starting point is 03:11:46 They've already done it. They just went through an eight overtime game with Georgia Tech. Are they callous? Are they ready? They want to win an SEC title or not? I don't know if their quarterback cares if they win or not. I'm worried about some of the stuff that's coming out there. The way things are being worded.
Starting point is 03:12:02 Just kidding. Just kidding. You're going gonna fire that pace here all right be a friend tell a friend something nice it might change their life we're in this thing together shadow hey it was announced gonna be back with the wwe starting january 6 calling monday night raw on netflix what a honor it is to even be asked to be back and to be a part of this and obviously i had to you know Step away from the commentary table with Michael Cole
Starting point is 03:12:28 Whenever the college football season started because of having a daily show and then also game day on Saturday I don't know if I would have survived if I continued to call Monday Night Raw I was bummed out when I left I love the WWE It is the most fun place that I've ever been in my entire life working alongside Side Michael Cole is like an actual honor like I'm working with a goat here Okay, not just whenever you come to talking into microphones But this dude covered the Bosnian war was over there for like 40 days locked in a war zone He was the first person to talk to David Koresh whenever he was working CBS radio
Starting point is 03:13:04 I think he's won like fucking awards in actual journalism Then he gets dropped into wwe and the guy as of late Has gotten a chance to take a vacation for the first time in like 25 years. It's work ethic Impeccable the way he goes through a show awesome his preparation suite and he uh, he's got you to actually want to have A beer with with a shot of whiskey inside of it. Hell yeah. So I can't wait to get back over there and the fact it's gonna be on Netflix obviously 270 million worldwide subscribers and wrestling is a worldwide operation like I am so incredibly
