Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello beautiful people and welcome to our humble abode the Thunderdome on this Commissioner Running Man Double Champ Tuesday June 1st to our July 1st. Jeez already. Sports! Holy hell. Yeah. Ladies and gentlemen it's July 1st. Welcome to song.
Starting point is 00:00:20 Hell yeah. Rabbit rabbit to all of you obviously we are celebrating the hell a, another day on this earth, another day alive, another day closer to football season and another day of fantastic weather outside for us here in the Midwest. We hope the same for you. Let's enjoy the hell out of this glorious Tuesday. We got a lot of people stopping by, okay?
Starting point is 00:00:38 The commissioner of the NHL will be joining us in about 15 minutes, Gary Badman. We appreciate the hell out of you. A lot to talk about in the NHL. Obviously they just had their draft. I believe they have a CBA deal being done or finished negotiation a year early. So normally these types of things are very contentious,
Starting point is 00:00:55 especially in the hockey world. They've had work stoppages, a few different ones that have kind of almost tanked the sport and the league as a whole. They've bounced back in a massive way. Obviously high ratings. There's a lot of talk and conversation about the NHL and the great as a whole. They've bounced back in a massive way, obviously high ratings. There's a lot of talk and conversation about the NHL and the great sport of hockey.
Starting point is 00:01:09 And now they're talking about maybe expansion things and they get a deal done ahead of time whenever normally it's a lot of this feels like hockey's on the rise. We talked to Ryan Smith, new owner of the Utah Mammoth, new franchise out there in Utah. And he says from what they're talking about behind the scenes at the NHL everything's on the up into the right angle so it's like I can't wait to talk to Gary Bedman about how he feels about the world
Starting point is 00:01:33 Quinton Richardson will join us in about 39 minutes or so he 13 year NBA vet there's a lot of things happening around the NBA yeah Sean Schrony says could be most craziest offseason ever. Damn right. It might be right. Shams Rani has been batting pretty good here thus far in most of the news or the stories
Starting point is 00:01:52 that we should follow looking ahead during the playoff run, what he was telling us and forecasting the future would look like. Well, now there's an NBA player making $71.25 million a year. Congratulations to NBA champion, NBA MVP, finals MVP, and now the new highest paid player in the history of sport, 71.25 million a year in salary. Congratulations to SGA.
Starting point is 00:02:16 Yeah! Way! That's unbelievable. He's not the only one that got paid. Now, granted, he got paid the biggest. That's not, get it twisted. Also, on a contract year, on a potential extension year, for him to go out and play the way he did, MVP-like,
Starting point is 00:02:33 and then win through it all, he had to be seeing dollar signs all season long. The fact that he remained locked in on the most important year of his own personal life, which also became the most important year of his professional life, we should be celebrating the hell out of $71.25 million dollars a year. You've earned it, bud. Congratulations. And if that's what they're paying, good for the NBA as well. Nine-year NFL vet, Darius J. Butler is here. We have some quarterbacks
Starting point is 00:03:02 kind of touching 60, obviously, in the NFL. One. One. Yeah, but I think there's gonna be, yeah, I think that's gonna be the next kind of number that we get to. 71-2-5 in the NBA. First of all, obviously McKenzie's gonna have a good jumper. If wife and I ever have a boy, we're gonna make sure and we got that ball on a string, you know. It feels like they're paying pretty good over there in the NBA., they are and deserve it. So he moves the needle. He had a dominant season It's a lot of times we get up here. We see deals kind of come across X. You're like, who is this guy? How is he getting 18 20 25 million a year this guy gets 70 plus a year. He deserves it
Starting point is 00:03:40 He is fantastic had an unbelievable year finals MVP won the MVP and then winning the finals obviously all together So I got a shoe deal. I would be interested to see if he does more off the court Maybe not with making all this money man, but he's a superstar There would be more deals like this right down the line and some other players in line to make north of 70 plus million dollars a year Who's that? What are you talking about? What are you? Plus million dollars a year. Who's that? What are you talking about? What are you into Devin Booker over there in Phoenix? And he'll be eligible believe it July 6 for a two-year 150 million dollar quick math that's 75 million a year
Starting point is 00:04:14 He's obviously earned it as well And there's been a lot of NBA deals that have taken place over the last 12 hours Connor we'll break them down here in a matter of moments the talks a table is a Boston Connor and break them down here in a matter of moments. The talk's at table is Boston Connor and Ty Sr. today. Ty, a lot of money giving out to SGA. You gotta love that. Yeah, absolutely crazy. I mean, shit, you look at these numbers.
Starting point is 00:04:32 You know what, a guy like Dale Sr., if I may, I mean, if he was racing in this time in NASCAR, we need NASCAR purses to get somewhere in the same stratosphere as these NBA guys. It's crazy, you look around all the other leagues, I mean, NFL, sure, but we're looking at big deals in the NHL and the MLB. I mean, $71 million a year.
Starting point is 00:04:51 Are you kidding me? It's crazy, but I love it. That's America, baby. That's capitalism. That's what it's all about. Ty, I think a lot of people watching will say, you seem to look and sound a little bit different today. Do you agree with that or no?
Starting point is 00:05:04 Well, I'll tell you what. What guys see on your on your televisions every day. Sure. That's that's a version me I'm wearing something very similar to this every night when I go home when I put my head on my pillow and It's fourth of July this week, right? Is it not are we not celebrating America this week? We will be at the end of the ooh rah is right. Obviously now listen I try to you know praise Dale and raise a little hell every end of the, ooh rah is right obviously. Now listen, I try to, you know, praise Dale and raise a little hell every day of the week, but on this week, 4th of July, I just decided, hey, today's the day, you know what, I'm going to let everybody kind of inside my world and I'm going to pay homage to the greatest American icon of all time, my goat of all goats, Dale
Starting point is 00:05:39 Senior. I just, I don't think people are doing it enough. I think we're kind of getting to that point where everyone wants to talk about the Lugano's of the world and guys like that. Joey Lugano ain't got shit on Dale senior. Okay. And that's all due respect to Joey Lugano, but I just, you know, I got my, you know, official, uh, Dale senior, you know, fire retardant jacket here. And I'm, you may see me combust into flames today because I look so god damn good. Uh, but that's why I had to wear it.
Starting point is 00:06:03 You know, you're going to sweat through it. You're going to, you're going to sacrifice a little bit for a guy like Dale senior on a day like this. So when you go home at night, you're wearing that jacket. You told me every night. Do you talk like this as well? Whenever you go home? Honestly, I don't even now I don't even recognize when I'm doing it. So you guys like I'll watch the tape back obviously after the show today and maybe I do sound like you didn't hear it hear it then? No, it sounded like Tyrese. He has two different dialects. That's a pretty interesting... So I don't, I mean, to me,
Starting point is 00:06:37 I sound the exact same I do every day. Now you guys are telling me I might sound, I don't know, a little more Southern Fried. Maybe that's the thing. I don't know. Maybe I've been reading too many McGee articles. Maybe I've been watching too much... Reading the article? Well, yeah, because you got to say it out loud in your head and whatnot. maybe I've been reading too many McGee articles. Maybe I've been watching too much. Reading the articles? Yeah, cuz you gotta say it out loud in your head and whatnot. Maybe I've been watching too much Marty McGee on the south east. With Parker McCollum. Exactly, Parker McCollum was on there. I've been listening to a lot of country. Listen, it's summer, it's summertime, the weather's hot.
Starting point is 00:06:59 So it does crazy things to people. Again, I mean, this is my true self, and if you don't like it, you can go fuck yourself Okay, cuz I love it. I love it. I love Dale senior. I love this jacket. I Mean, it's the intimidant you love Like I said, it's Let's go to one half of the hammer. Cowboys. He became a cowboy. You have some become whatever. Listen, I think he drove in here in his Chevy Monte Carlo service by GM, uh,
Starting point is 00:07:34 BF Goodrich earlier with the Sonoco gasoline and his good year tires. I think you, I think you look incredible. My friend. Okay. You too battle and he's got a South African accent you got a Know what happened is we got together last time we watched we watched the Earnhardt doc on Amazon that just came out recently It was a die for it is unbelievable It's probably the best piece of content I've ever watched in my life and I knew that going in but I was just like you know What let's just make sure let's just kind of take the temperature and it's on Amazon, right? Yeah for part series It is unbelievable that all the stuff you thought you knew about senior
Starting point is 00:08:08 I mean it doesn't even scratch the surface of what was beneath that man. What was beneath the hood Did you learn anything about you know what once I saw I saw it I didn't watch it yet But I wasn't a fan of motorsports till recently I obviously saw Dale know of him American knock on as, as you said. Born in the 50s, born in the South. So immediately I go, I gotta do some research. I gotta do my own research. Went to chat with GPT, typed in some questions, words, some hot button topics maybe. And he came back clean. So hey, Dale's good with me, raised hell, praised Dale. He is black night has some friends growing up, you know, that was one of my nicknames black night Don't don't ever call me that again. It's only one black night and that's Dale. So yeah
Starting point is 00:08:53 I can't I can't wait to watch him his son. He's such a good man to be his son's a great Yeah, I didn't really Google anymore chat GPT and they get and look once again born in the South 50s. Just have to see. Are you sure? Can you do a little more digging? Clean, fill it out. We're good, we're clean. Okay that's good news. Seems like that. I don't need anybody else doing any more research for me. My research is done. That was good with me. Chat GPT looked into it. That's a wild time we're in. He's having actual conversations with Chatch E.P.T. Oh yeah. And Ty is walking in here as impersonating Dale Earnhardt.
Starting point is 00:09:30 Here is a picture of Dale Earnhardt, senior, obviously. And then Ty, Ty, if we could get Ty next, can we get a Ty next to, what an honor this is for you right now. Unbelievable, best day of my life. Best day of my deck gum life. I like that. I like what you're doing.
Starting point is 00:09:49 There we go. I mean, who's who? Wow. Wicked day in America. Like a mirror. Does this feel good for you? Even the jacket. This is awesome.
Starting point is 00:09:57 I'm not kidding. This is the best day of my life. All right, we'll move on. We appreciate you doing that. And, uh, we appreciate you coming out here. We appreciate you coming out here. We appreciate you coming out here. We appreciate you coming out here. We appreciate you coming out here. We appreciate you coming out here. We appreciate you coming out here. We appreciate you coming out here. Did this feel good for you? Even to Jack? This is awesome. I'm not kidding.
Starting point is 00:10:05 This is the best day of my life. All right, we'll move on. We appreciate you doing that and shout out to Amazon for the four part documentary because Ty did walk, just like whenever Tone went into his COVID cave and came out like one of the best gamblers on earth because all he did was go through
Starting point is 00:10:20 and then he became a cowboy because he watched old buddy, Yellowstone out there in Montana. So he just started wearing a cowboy hat. He became a cowboy through COVID. We called him the COVID cowboy. Now he's a hammer cowboy alongside Bubba Gumpino in the back.
Starting point is 00:10:35 You have kind of transformed Dale Earnhardt from watching one documentary and I can respect that. And I appreciate your love for him. Now sitting next to you at Boston Connor, we were talking about it before Dale Earnhardt got into his pitch about NASCAR pools and prizes needing to get to the stratosphere of the NBA there's a lot that has happened since the NBA free agency is kind of kicked or tipped off we'll say yesterday SGA 71.25 million is absurd but that's uh he's not the
Starting point is 00:10:57 only guy that got a shit ton of money con man yeah jaron jackson jr also signs a five-year two hundred and forty40 million max extension. If you remember, the Grizzlies traded Desmond Bain to Orlando. He gets a big deal there. So they have a little bit more money, give it to him. I believe he won defensive player of the year, either last year or the year before. The Grizzlies, kind of one of those weird teams that fired their coach a year or a week before the playoff started.
Starting point is 00:11:24 Kind of a odd situation there but Jaren Jackson jr. Unbelievable another guy that's signed not as big of a money deal But a big free agent everyone was kind of looking at Brooke Lopez. He is going to LA, but he is not going to Lakers He's going to the clips kind of a massive signing for them. They thought Lakers because center. Yeah, that's kind of their number one priority right now. People are now looking at Deandre and really good highlight there of him blocking Pascal Siakam. That was weird.
Starting point is 00:11:55 But broke Lopez going to Clippers. That was the last series he played in. They also extended James Harden two years, $82 million. I think the Clippers so so Brook Lopez and James Harden gonna be a dynamic duo. Yeah, tough situation there to start but- We pick what highlights are gonna be shown. We don't need Pascal C. Ackham getting his shit sent.
Starting point is 00:12:16 Boom, to the goddamn Rafters as the first one for Brook Lopez. Listen, this is chronological order. I wanted to show the most recent things that he's done. In the last series they played was against the Pacers. I appreciate you guys. I appreciate the video department keeping it honest over Objective I like Tony's point it was in the playoffs broke Lopez very good in the playoffs Clippers needs someone very good in the playoffs They haven't been good in the playoffs as of recently
Starting point is 00:12:41 Staying with the Bucs Damien Lillard tours Achilles in the playoffs and then got released. Kind of absurd, no one really saw this coming. This is the first, you could say, most craziest off-season move, arguably, just because no one really saw this. Kevin Durant to Houston? KD, yeah, but no one saw this one coming.
Starting point is 00:13:00 KD was always getting moved. Giannis, you know, kind of up in the air. This comes out of nowhere. Yannis then tweets, allegedly not very happy. He's not sure what's going on. Nah, Yannis didn't tweet that. Somebody reported that, right? He reported, but Yannis actually put out a tweet that had the 100 emoji, and then the caption on the photo said, I'm not sure what the hell is happening right now. And it was him celebrating in the locker room post championship. I think we can pull that up.
Starting point is 00:13:27 But also with the Bucks have to talk about it. Unfortunately for the Indiana Pacers, Miles Turner said, so long Indiana. I'm not sticking around without Tyrese Halliburton playing next year. He signed a four year, $ seven million dollar deal with the Bucks immediately after this was reported was when the Lillard release was reported as well so the Bucks making moves trying to keep Giannis happy no one's really sure if he is happy or not but at least they're trying feels like a lot of times teams won't even do anything to help their stars and now with those it kind
Starting point is 00:14:04 of stinks for Andy with with Turner, it kind of stinks for Andy with Turner leaving and kind of just looking ahead. DeAndre ate into the Lakers is kind of the next possible big move we could see because the Lakers still need a big man, especially if they want to keep LeBron happy. That's interesting. Thank you for breaking it all down. The Miles Turner stuff to Milwaukee.
Starting point is 00:14:21 I think the assumption was that he was going to stay with the Pacers basically throughout all of the playoff series. Then game seven of the finals Tyrese Halliburton gets hurt and he's gonna miss an entire season. I think that changes but this is not from any information I'm just saying from all sources Miles Turner and the Pacers were gonna get a deal done and then once season's over I wonder if there was like a re-look at like what does next year look like, what does the future look like, what's right for Miles, what's right for the... So him getting paid, I'm happy as hell for Miles Turner. Obviously he's done
Starting point is 00:14:54 a lot for the city of Indianapolis, the state of Indiana, the franchise, the Pacers as a whole. Ten years, 11 years here. I mean, Miles was great for the city and obviously got a chance to experience an NBA finals run. Him getting paid with Milwaukee I'm happy for, but I think all indications were that he was staying with the Pacers and then obviously tragedy strikes for our star player. And then all of a sudden,
Starting point is 00:15:17 what does the future look like now for the Pacers? I think that's potentially how that kind of unfolds there. Yeah, for sure. Especially because it's four years 107 million dollars Like we we talked throughout the playoffs how incredible was that the Pacers were even where they were because of how far underneath The cap they were so it's not as if a four-year 107 million dollar deal is gonna break the bank for any NBA team right now really especially with the cap going up So it a thousand percent had to be hey Tyrese isn't here next year next
Starting point is 00:15:46 Year is going to look much different in Indiana. Do you stay there Milwaukee's just interesting because with the whole Yanis question mark It's like well, there's a question mark in Indy, but if you're going to Milwaukee, there's kind of a question mark there, right? What their superstars so you're taking a little bit of a risk, but I mean shit a hundred seven million dollars It's awesome. Yeah, I wonder how many teams are offering him 107 million dollars I wonder what it all look like for miles all I know is when miles is on the defense event it's great yeah he's unbelievable he's a tall guy who actually plays defense and he's been in a Carlisle offense so he's had to run you know like miles has had to run in this entire thing and he can and I don't want to say this in a negative way
Starting point is 00:16:23 because a lot of people saw him in the finals not really do it. But Myles can knock down threes. Like he can very much do that. Like that is something he is good at. And the pick and roll with Tyrese throughout a lot of the series was kind of like his play. So, I mean, Myles is still a very good player. Kind of a younger version almost of Lopez. You know, he's going to be a force in the defensive end in the paint, and then he can stretch the floor with his shooting ability. Now, a lot of fans would have liked them, you know get get to the basket more
Starting point is 00:16:49 You know be a little more important the threes not fall with that frame If it's if those shots are not falling be a as you mentioned with that Tyrese injury now that definitely Changes the plan. So the pace has got to do what's best for them I think they got their first round pick back as well, right? Yeah, a first run pick Okay, yeah, which could potentially hopefully not with tricky Ricky They can figure it out but could potentially be a lottery pick going forward just have to change plans completely for the future Whenever you lose your super max Also star player in the last game of the season
Starting point is 00:17:19 Okay We'll continue to talk about the NBA Quinton Richardson will join us in about 30 minutes or so to chit chat about what's going On around the association joining us now ladies and gentlemen is one of the commissioners of one of the biggest leagues on earth He's been a commissioner for a long time now I've seen a lot of things but I don't know if he could have projected how popular the league is and how popular The sport is or the fact that he could potentially get a CBA negotiation done a year early ladies and gentlemen the commissioner of the NHL Gary Bettman. How you doing boss? I'm doing great and it's always great to be with you because I love the fact that you're such a fan. Yes, lucky to grow up in Pittsburgh.
Starting point is 00:17:59 Obviously had a lot of great times. Hockey was good to my family, my community and the sport is obviously spectacular. Let's talk about the state of the sport. It feels like, and I mean we can dive right into the four nations right now, but at that four nations moment, it feels like that was a real like kickstarter to hockey becoming a huge part of Americana thinking and buying into the fact about how great the sport is. Do you agree with that notion and do you feel like the sport in the league is more prominent now than maybe ever in the United States of America? I think over the last three decades we've seen an upward trajectory pretty consistently,
Starting point is 00:18:41 but every now and then there's been an extra boost. And whether it was outdoor games or going to the Olympics, which we used to do 10, 15 years ago and we're going back to. What worked so well on Four Nations was the pent up demand for international best on best competition. We think we do that as well, if not better than anybody. And it was something that was really important to our players, which is why when you saw the event, you could see that they were all in, which is why I guess it drew such positive comparison to all-star games in some of the other sports.
Starting point is 00:19:20 At the end of the day, this meant a lot to the players to represent to their countries, and they showed it in the way the competition played out, and they showed it even after Four Nations was over based on the number of players that came back to their NHL teams injured. I know that you don't love the stage fighting, I believe is what the NHL would like to get rid of. The booing of a national anthem leading immediately to a fight I think was great for all parties.
Starting point is 00:19:47 I think it was great for all parties. But you mentioned there, Kachuk got hurt leaving there. Kachuk was like Captain America in there. Now obviously he's on the Stanley Cup Champions. He's one of the leaders of the Stanley Cup Champs and he would get back for the playoffs. And obviously another Stanley Cup run. But they were leaving it all out there for this thing
Starting point is 00:20:03 for their country. And I think people learned about like the players that make up the NHL and how great your sport is. Our players are great. And whether it's just playing hockey for the love of the game, or trying to win the most iconic trophy in the hardest championship to win in the Stanley Cup,
Starting point is 00:20:21 or representing their countries, they don't do anything half or three quarters ways. They do it at 110%. And you know, the good news was with the booing of the anthems and the issues between the U.S. and Canada at the time, we got through that. By the time we got to the playoffs, there were no booing of anthems either in the U.S. or Canada, and people were just focused on the hockey and the players were focused on winning and
Starting point is 00:20:47 You know, I don't know for a fact But I wouldn't be surprised if Kichuck were still injured by the time he came back to play in the playoffs Although as you know our players, you know, they they play injured all the time and particularly in the playoffs and That's what makes our game so great. The commitment that our players have to their teams, to their fans and to winning. Yeah, the culture of the league is ultimately shown by its players, I believe.
Starting point is 00:21:15 And your players are all dogs. And you talk about playing hurt. We'll get reports after a team exits the playoffs. And it'll be like, this guy had a fractured sternum, also had a broken foot they were literally just propping his ass up on skates and pushing him onto the ice it's like you don't hear like that anymore about any other sport other than hockey i don't think you ever heard that in any other sport although i assume when you referred to dogs that was a good thing yes yes dogs
Starting point is 00:21:39 are good gary dogs are good d-a-w-g-s yeah yeah d-a-w. D-A-W-G-S, not D-O-G-S. D-O-G-S too good. I got a couple of those. Chuck, Valerie, they're good dogs and all that. Let's talk about, you talked about Kichuck and you talked about Lord Stanley Cup obviously and how remarkable it is. We had a chance to hang out with it here one day and obviously the stories of the Stanley Cup and Darius J. Butler is obviously reaping the benefit of winning another one. What is your thought? Congrats to the Florida Panthers on going back to back.
Starting point is 00:22:11 And now with Zito signing everybody back, it's like we're obviously in the middle of a dynasty here. We have to talk about that. Not every league loves dynasties. I think there's some leagues that are making rules so dynasties don't happen. I think obviously the NFL had the New England Patriots for a long time, the Chiefs can still be in the middle of making one,
Starting point is 00:22:28 but it's very difficult, especially with salary cap and money and business and how everything has to go. How does the league yourself feel about this Florida Panthers team, especially because how good they represent hockey, I think, as a whole? You know, whether or not dynasties are good or bad,
Starting point is 00:22:44 my view in sports is it is what it is. And if a team can excel, not to do what the Panthers have done three years in a row in the Stanley Cup final, winning back to backs, they're looking very strong as we project ahead for next year, having resigned the three important free agents. The stories are what it's all about. It's what takes place on the ice that makes it great. And if they can pull off a three-peat, that'll be remarkable.
Starting point is 00:23:16 But we've always prided ourselves, particularly in the last 20 years post-salary cap, that our competitive balance is extraordinary. The races to get into the playoffs at the end of the regular season, we had three teams that didn't know their playoff status for the last game of the regular season. And I think that's what's compelling and that's what brings fans to the game. If in fact the Panthers can do it again, kudos to them and it's a testament to the game. If in fact, the Panthers can do it again, kudos to them. And it's a testament to the players and to what is being done by management and ownership
Starting point is 00:23:54 to give all the resources and to build a team that has this chemistry, making all the right decisions. So, you know, we've had a couple of back-to-backs over the years, but overall we see lots of changes. At least five different teams I think over the last 10-15 years with one exception we've had at least five different teams turn over in the playoffs every year and I think that's great for fans because we want our fans to know that no matter who you root for your team is a shot of making the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:24:26 And then once the playoffs begin, anything can happen. Yeah, hope. You want your teams to have hope. That is legit. And speaking of hope, South Florida has become that. Here's Darius, obviously lifelong fan. Absolutely. On that note, Gary,
Starting point is 00:24:39 Panthers came into existence a couple of years after you became the Commish. Are there any examples? I told the boys up here, like, I never would have thought in a million years, you became the commish. Are there any examples? I told the boys up here like you I never would have thought in a million years I know we went in 1996 but I never would have thought in a million years that we would be back-to-back champs and have a dynasty in South Florida. It was almost like not a Joker franchise but you had the Heat, you had the Dolphins. Is there any example for you with the fanfare and the buzz down there compared to what has been
Starting point is 00:25:02 I guess the last few decades? Well a couple of things one since Vinny Viola took over as owner and you'll always hear me say that it all starts with ownership. Vinny and his family have been all in whether it's building a new practice facility and renovating the war memorial in Fort Lauderdale, whether it's bringing in Bill Zito to put this team together, whether it's everything they do in the community, the Viola family has been nothing short of sensational. You see the same thing in Tampa with Jeff Vinick.
Starting point is 00:25:37 It's not about state taxes, it's about ownership. And I think it does a disservice to the great work that's being done to think that that's what makes the difference in the team. It doesn't. Players have lots of reasons for picking or not picking teams to go to.
Starting point is 00:25:56 If you look at what Darrell Cates has done in Edmonton since he's taken over with the Oilers. But even if you look at things like the Samuels owning the Anaheim Ducks where they did bring a Stanley Cup champion, when they bought the team I think there were five or six high school teams in Orange County and now they're between 50 and 60. Ownership, commitment to fans in the community, giving teams the resources, whether it's the coaching staff or the practice facilities or everything they do around the game, all it's the coaching staff or the practice facilities,
Starting point is 00:26:25 or everything they do around the game, all of it makes a difference. And that's what players look for when they're deciding, when they're free agents, where they want to play. You become an ambassador of the sport as a whole, let alone an owner of the league, especially for that area, South Florida. A lot of talent in athletics. I wonder if it'll translate into hockey someday, maybe with Kichuck and the boys with what they're able to build. Now that naturally leads to a question of something that has been kind of reported about expansion in the NHL. I heard there's a couple of cities, Austin, Houston, Atlanta. What's that fourth one, Gary? What's the fourth one? There are probably eight cities that, you know,
Starting point is 00:27:07 we've heard from Indianapolis, we've heard from Cincinnati, we hear from Quebec City, the list goes on and on. We're not focusing on expanding right now. I'm not gonna issue an edict that says, if you want an expansion team, file your application by this date. I think the most important things at 10,000 feet in expansion are ownership
Starting point is 00:27:30 Which we've just talked about Market arena and what does it do to make the league stronger? Improve our footprint because we're a little bit different than the other three major sports in that of our 32 teams seven or in Canada Which is a good thing because of how 32 teams seven are in Canada which is a good thing because of how strong the game is in Canada we're like if if you want to draw a comparison we're like the NFL is in the US based on how we are in Canada just look at the last national deal we just did a couple of months ago with Rogers if somebody wants to check that out. No big deal, no big deal. You're just saying, just a subtle flex right there.
Starting point is 00:28:05 That was a subtle flex out of you, Gary. Yeah, it was like, just look at the Rogers deal. What's going on up there? Little flex, okay. But if somebody can check those four boxes and wants to do a deep dive, then I'll take it to the owners and we'll consider it. I'm not pressuring anybody.
Starting point is 00:28:20 We're not giving deadlines. If it's gonna be right, it'll be right. And if we wait a while If ever to do any more expansion, that's okay, too This are 32 teams have never been healthier never been better owned never been more supported by their fans All right, I'll get to work for Indianapolis. I assume some others will as well Let's talk about the game continuing to grow and obviously you're big in Canada international growth Obviously always a forefront of conversation
Starting point is 00:28:46 Go ahead Connor. Yeah, Gary Pat mentioned the four nations this past season and as someone from Boston I actually was able to go to the four nations final Thanks to Pat and Seakeek and for the city one it was incredible. And then of course the product was unbelievable So when it comes to the World Cup of hockey, when you're thinking of what cities to host it, I personally would say Boston's probably the place you wanna keep it. The Northeast just makes more sense, I would say.
Starting point is 00:29:17 And real true hockey fans up there. But what are you looking for exactly with the World Cup of hockey kind of selection when it comes to the city? And what do you looking for exactly with the World Cup of Hockey kind of selection when it comes to the city and what do you expect for those eight nations kind of those teams to be like? That's a great question. Boston and Montreal were great hosts. The history, the tradition, the connection to hockey in those cities is unbelievably strong. We just put out requests for proposals for cities both in Europe to host a portion of the World Cup and in North America.
Starting point is 00:29:55 And so we'll see what comes back. But to get everybody up to speed, we're going to be on a cycle. Next season, we're going to the Olympics in Milan. Two years later we'll do a World Cup, two years after that we'll go back to the Olympics and then two years after that a World Cup. So we with the Players Association who we do this with are committed to getting a regular schedule of best on best for our players. It's great for the game, it's great for our fans, and most importantly our players really want it.
Starting point is 00:30:26 You just said you and the Players Association. I mentioned it in the introduction but we haven't really got a chance to chat about it. A year early. Now granted it hasn't been voted on, I don't think it's officialized, but there's been a lot of reports that basically, hey, we got a deal. I think on nhl.com it says we've agreed to terms or something like that. So we don't know exactly where it is in the process We do know it is about a year ahead of schedule that never happens never not never happens in hockey You guys have had work stoppages before because of labor Disagreements now games at a strong level leagues at a strong level and it feels like your guys's partnership Is that a strong level with the players as well? That you're absolutely right.
Starting point is 00:31:06 So let's take it at a couple of points. One, we have an agreement in principle subject to ratification both by the players and by the teams. And that process is ongoing. We've had an interesting history of labor relations, including, as I think everybody knows, 20 years ago, we had to lose an entire season to get the system that we have in place, which is the salary cap with revenue sharing. We have a new executive director, I think he's been in between two
Starting point is 00:31:38 and three years, Marty Walsh, former mayor of Boston, huge fan of the game, former secretary of labor in the United States. And he's run unions before he had his political career. And we have a terrific relationship. He is very collaborative, very professional. We don't necessarily agree on everything, but we know how to deal with the process. And Marty is of the belief that it's great for everybody, including the players, if we're all on the same side and we're working to grow the game.
Starting point is 00:32:15 And with a year left in our collective bargaining, we managed to work collaboratively together to have a good collective bargaining process which started around the end of February, the beginning of March, and I think we made a deal that is good for the players moving forward, make some adjustments for the teams that's good moving forward, and I think it says a lot about the state of the game and the growth that we can have with this terrific foundation and predictability because nobody now has to worry about what happens in collective bargaining over the last year of the current agreement, which happens in most sports. Then it's a distraction.
Starting point is 00:32:54 And I think together we managed to go through a really good process. Yeah, especially with your advertising partners too, not having a threat of potentially losing a season with negotiations like, hey, everything's kumbaya with players and us how kumbaya we get a deal done Which is worth hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars Uh a year early that's insane to think about it's very abnormal though, right? This is did it surprise you whenever it was like man. This feels like an actual partnership here Let me explain my story my stance on this gary just so I can explain it to you
Starting point is 00:33:24 When I got drafted to the nfl they send you to a rookie symposium an actual partnership here. Let me explain my stance on this, Gary, just so I can explain it to you. When I got drafted to the NFL, they send you to a rookie symposium, okay, like a week later. Rookie symposium my year just so happened to be Demorisha Smith's first time speaking to like a group of players. And what he said is,
Starting point is 00:33:37 we're about to get into CBA negotiations, there's gonna be a lockout or whatever, and we need to fight them. We need to fight them on everything. And my first thought is a person that is interested in business it's like man just fighting your business partner doesn't feel like the right play. Lo and behold a lot of disagreements blah blah blah blah blah. Then we move forward I wasn't as naive I was naive at the time I learned like oh there's fights in every one of these. It's like 32 lawyers taking on the player lawyer and
Starting point is 00:34:02 they're fighting for every inch. We can drop a THC testing level 0.05 percent what do we have to give up well 45 days of work on the other it's like everything is just like tooth and nail I don't think that makes sense personally if from a business perspective so whenever this starts happening with the players are you surprised and excited I assume at the same time well listen we've had our battles people credit me I use that word in quotes, with three lockouts. If you don't have a partner who gets the big picture and is willing to engage, you're going to have disharmony on the collective bargaining fund. Fortunately,
Starting point is 00:34:38 Marty Walsh and we've developed a great relationship and as I said, well we don't agree on everything, we know how to deal with that. He gets the big picture which says you need a healthy business for it to benefit everyone, particularly including his members in his union, namely the players. And so first of all nobody would ever accuse you of being naive. But more importantly, you've got the big picture and that's how we've managed to come together. And in that regard, Marty and I are on the same page in terms of what we need to do is do the things that will help grow the game at all levels for the benefit of everybody, not just the players of the league, but for our fans as well. Yeah, but it's whatever the league knows, like, hey, we can build, we gotta work still. Like, that's a good thing.
Starting point is 00:35:29 Like, I think some leagues get to a point where they think they're big and they don't do all the other stuff, and then all of a sudden people start talking bad about your league. It's like, I appreciate the fact that you guys acknowledge it. I love that the players are on board. The Olympics is a good idea.
Starting point is 00:35:40 Because that's gonna be some hockey that some people have never seen the sport before. And if they're watching like the best of the best play it's like, yes, this is a sport I love, you know? And by the way, you're 100% right and I agree with you, but stopping in the middle of the season for two weeks is a bit of a disruption and it's hard to deal with. But on balance, it's something we think is important to work our way through. The deal terms have a they're either being finalized with the double IHF the International
Starting point is 00:36:12 Ice Hockey Federation and the International Olympic Committee either today or tomorrow and in fact Deputy Commissioner Bill Daley is in Zurich today to deal with that very issue. So we know it's important. We know it's not without its difficulties, but on balance it's important. And that's why we manage the complexity of it all. That was awesome. I just heard what the owner said.
Starting point is 00:36:36 Yeah, yeah, Olympics, awesome, awesome, awesome fun. We might lose a 30, $40 million player and we got to stop our league. Okay, that is a, that is hilarious. Okay, we got another rule that we think should be put in place. Tone, one half of the hammer, Cowboys from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Yeah, Gary, there was some unfortunate, untrue rumors last week that Sidney Crosby was going to be traded from the Pittsburgh Penguins. Now they were untrue, but just so we don't have it again in the future, can you make a rule in the NHL that Sid is not allowed to be traded from the Pittsburgh Penguins, please?
Starting point is 00:37:07 But it also... Go ahead, sorry. Sid has been unbelievable for the game on and off the ice. He's been unbelievable for Pittsburgh. My guess is if he ever moved, and I have no reason to believe he would, it would only be because he wants to go to a situation to finish out his career. I'd be surprised if he ever moved and I know how important he is to Pittsburgh and I know how important Pittsburgh is to him. So, you know, in this
Starting point is 00:37:37 era of social media where anybody can put out anything, you really have to verify before you get all whammed up about something. Yeah I'm telling you yeah you're not just in this situation that's every single day out there on the internet there's a lot happening that you got to kind of keep your eyes peeled for and obviously you two have celebrated a couple different times. I'm a plastic person. Yeah you look good, look at you!
Starting point is 00:38:00 Are you natural? Yeah I was much younger then. Hey Gary we will say this we've been noticing I don't know if you've been noticing, feels like round of applause. Now at the draft, you're gonna get your ass booed. I think that's just normal. But I think people, hockey worlds, huh? Don't you think?
Starting point is 00:38:14 I think hockey world's like, hey Gary, you're doing it. Actually, I get booed. No, actually it's a sign of affection. Definitely. If they ignored me, I'd be concerned. From getting booted means they're paying attention. Commissioners have to make tough decisions against fan bases and teams.
Starting point is 00:38:31 So you're obviously putting that spot, especially with work stoppages. But I would like to let you know, from us reading the tea leaves from outside looking in, it's like Gary Bettman, to use a wrestling term, kind of a baby face right now in the hockey world. I think you've done great things for a league in sport I think people see that Gary
Starting point is 00:38:46 You know, thank you for saying that by the way getting booed at the draft in LA Friday night Was worth it to see moments like Matthew Shaffer coming up and the emotion of him being drafted And we talked about that when he came up to see the ovation that Meredith Good dog good road God when she came to meet the Columbus pick to see Charles Barkley and Adam Sandler participate on behalf of Philly and Boston. There were some really great moments. Yeah, okay, we switched from a centralized draft to decentralized. Steve Mayer tried some things to make us look a little bit different than what other leagues do. But you know what, unless you try some things and even stumble a little, you don't get to
Starting point is 00:39:27 a great place. So on balance, we had a very impactful and meaningful draft. We watched, we thought there was a lot of clips too that came from it, which is obviously very important for the modern era of media. And I'd like to say, as somebody that talks on a microphone on a regular basis, you hosted that thing not bad. You were walking people to things. You were tired.
Starting point is 00:39:47 I mean, you were hosting out there, Gary. Welcome to the show. Welcome to the league. How are we doing? Let's send over here. I thought you did a great job. Thank you. I actually had fun.
Starting point is 00:39:57 You know, I didn't sit down for five hours. And so when I finally sat down, I couldn't get up. But you know, at my advancing age, you got to be a little careful. Seriously, we had a good time. I think the people in LA who attended the draft had a good time. And we actually sent out a survey to see if our clubs were happy
Starting point is 00:40:16 with the decentralized draft, or they want to go back. My guess is on balance, we're going to keep doing what we did. And it was a lot of fun. Alright, well we appreciate it. Congrats on another successful NHL season. Can't wait to see what's in store and congrats to whatever expansion city puts together the proper pitch deck and says this is a city that should have an NHL team. Because if the NHL comes to your town, there's a lot of greatness coming alongside of it.
Starting point is 00:40:42 I was fortunate to grow up in Pittsburgh. I love watching the league. Thank you for taking time for us to have a conversation. Always great to be with you and thanks for all you do to cover all sports, but especially ours. I'll tell you what, I wish I could skate. I can't skate. I saw Patty Maroon. Never too late to learn. I don't know, I think it is.
Starting point is 00:41:01 All right, ladies and gentlemen, Commissioner of the NHL, Gary Berman. Thank you, buddy. Hey. Yeah, the Olympics is. Thank you, buddy. Hey. Yeah, the Olympics is fun. Okay? It's fun. I could lose my most expensive,
Starting point is 00:41:11 my entire roster that I paid. And also it's two weeks in the middle of the season. What are we even? Yeah, Olympics is fun. Okay, we're the idiots. We're the main ones. Okay, we got a league to run here. We got a business we're doing.
Starting point is 00:41:22 Yeah, Kachuk came back. It was awesome. Charlie McEvoy out for the year after after four nations damn near Blew up the Bruins if there's an expansion team in Quebec City. I'm out What I'm out already been a team in Quebec The norse eggs Eric Lindrell tried and failed. Okay, it's time to bring a team here Eric Lindrow tried and failed. Okay, it's time to bring a team here. Indianapolis is in the center of the country They just put on a show for the NBA Finals You see how promise of an atmosphere that is and I know can they play hockey and game bridge?
Starting point is 00:41:54 I saw some people saying they can't what yes they can. Yes, they can they have to be able to In the in the freaking jumpo Tron wasn't even centered on the ice, okay, so you can put hockey in Barclays in the freaking Jumbo-tron, wasn't even centered on the ice, okay? So you can put hockey anywhere, don't tell me about that. What's the name? What would be the mascot? I don't know, I've gone through a couple different thoughts of what an NHL team could look like here, gone through many different iterations.
Starting point is 00:42:16 I don't know if today's the day to say it all. I mean today it could be the Indianapolis Dales. No, no. Put that face on. Why did you think about Commissioner Buttman? Intimidators. Intimidators. Intimidators. No, that's what I was gonna say.
Starting point is 00:42:27 If we're gonna do a team, let's say we've seen the success of the Hurricanes down in Carolina. Okay, why not go over to Canapolis, North Carolina, birthplace of Dale Earnhardt, senior. Are you kidding me? The end? That's where you want a hockey team?
Starting point is 00:42:43 Canapolis? God damn right. Canapolis, North Carolina. Canapolis, North Carolina? Canapolis, North Carolina. The North Carolina Intimidators. I love it personally. What, it'd just be sunglasses on a hockey skate? Yeah, I think wear a helmet.
Starting point is 00:42:53 You know, you got the hockey bucket with the Intimidators shades on. Stash. Skates? Stick? Yeah, black and red. I mean, you know, sorry hurricanes. I know you already got that color scheme paint scheme if you will What city is this again? Canapolis, North Carolina a lot of great things
Starting point is 00:43:11 Well in Canapolis. Well the greatest thing the intimidator was born there now He obviously moved around a bit, you know spent his time in the Carolinas. I thought you know, Commissioner Batman was pretty good I did want to let him know though that I don't think it's fair that as a You know Vegas Golden Knights super fan. I should be I should be jacked up. I should be pumped up They just landed Mitch Marner who was argued arguably the crown jewel. How'd you guys get a period? Well, that's what everybody's saying instead of being jacked up I'm fucking red-ass because now they're talking about collusion and allegations of tampering. What? It's like, hey listen Just cuz Bill Foley is willing to spend a little bit more money than some of these cheapskates maybe up in Toronto
Starting point is 00:43:51 I mean it really does it kind of reminds me, you know back in the early 80s when Hey, listen Childress racing they decided to spend a little bit more money to get Dale senior in there Okay, they're sure there are a couple other teams who maybe could have gotten in. Was there collusion there? Was there a little bit of tampering there? Maybe, I don't think we should be penalizing these team owners who are willing to spend a little bit more cash in order to chase a title.
Starting point is 00:44:16 I think it's, like I said, it's got me red ass. You were gonna try to get to the bottom of it there with the commission? Yeah, I just wanna say, hey, listen, Gare, maybe nut up and just say, you know what, Bill? You're gonna try to get to the bottom of it there with the commission. Yeah, I just want to say hey listen Gare Maybe nut up and just say you know what Bill You're good. You spend a little bit more money if Toronto wanted him and you know what I'm seeing today You know they're whining cuz he's leaving but then on the flip side though, you're gonna love this guy's a choker in the playoffs He sucks. He's never won anything. That's that guy Vegas lights exactly Exactly bring all the misfits down to Vegas and guess what Bill Foley will pay a little bit more for
Starting point is 00:44:48 No taxes either. That's right. It's Vegas. I love Gary Bettman saying I'm about sick of people talking about state income That's being the reason why people are doing things now Is it helping maybe but there's a lot of talent happening a lot of the Florida Panthers players taking a little bit less money than They probably could elsewhere to stay down in Florida and you got to think it's not just the tax. It's also probably the opportunity to ride around golf carts. Everybody's different. How would I get along with? They're actually on vacation all day, every day, whenever they want to be. And then they go to work and work their asses off. And then they hop in a pool and have a strawberry margarita with the boys. Don't sound too bad. Pina colada.
Starting point is 00:45:25 The South Florida thing's really interesting. Really, really interesting. Why isn't your football team better? Well, there's a lot of distractions, I think, for the football team. Little different. Certainly. Daytona's closer.
Starting point is 00:45:35 What's a little different? Well, you know what? Speaking of somebody that was in Vegas, we got a tight end. We were in the tight end market. We got a tight end. Derrick Wall, remember, a Miami Dolphins. Things got better today. We did. Hit that shit. Congratulations to the
Starting point is 00:45:46 Dolphins bringing in a player as opposed to sending players away from their team. John H. Smith ends up with the Pittsburgh Steelers yesterday in a trade that involved Jalen Ramsey, Minka Fitzpatrick a fifth and a seventh round I believe swapped and now Darren Waller back playing football for the Miami Dolphins. I'll tell you what, the guy's mind as a lyricist, phenomenal. When you talk about athlete, musician, rappers, he's good, he's very good.
Starting point is 00:46:13 And on a football field, when he was at Vegas, and I believe before that, but Gruden pulled him up off of the Baltimore Ravens practice squad. John Gruden, whenever the Raiders were taking on the Baltimore Ravens, saw Darren Waller doing a workout pregame because he was on the practice squad and said, what is that?
Starting point is 00:46:27 I would like that. Darren Waller then become pro bowler, all pro with the Raiders. Obviously immensely athletic, incredibly talented. We've seen his life off the field a lot. We've seen, we know a lot about Darren Waller, but if he can get, if McDaniel can get the most out of Darren Waller,
Starting point is 00:46:43 I think that type of offense suits well for Darren personally. Yeah, hell yeah. Now is he, is he all the way back to being a guy? We shall see. Gumpy, how do you feel about Darren Waller coming into town? I mean, you trade a Pro Bowl tight end, what do you do? You get another Pro Bowl tight end, you know? He doesn't see it.
Starting point is 00:47:00 Period. That's what Gumpy just said. What do you want me to do? I mean- You know, people are saying, never seen a team with so much uncertainty going into a season. We haven't won a playoff game in 24 years. Has there ever been any certainty?
Starting point is 00:47:12 Maybe uncertainty is not a bad thing. Yeah, maybe. Who knows? We don't know. That's who we are. We got a tight end. We needed a tight end. That's where we're at.
Starting point is 00:47:20 All right, let's pivot away from the NFL. Congrats to Darren. We're happy you're back in the league. We hope you're happy, brother, whatever the case. Hope you're happy, enjoy your life. He's an incredible football player if he's playing good football. And that offense, with all the motions and shit, with how fast he can run, that feels like a good spot to land in. And we'll see if they can connect. Let's pivot to the NBA. A lot of money being given out. We've talked about this a lot, but it needs to be reiterated. The National Basketball Association has a team in it that has given one player $71.25 million a year.
Starting point is 00:47:54 A year! In the world that we're in right now. Joining us is a 13-year NBA vet, friend of the program, ladies and gentlemen, Quinton Richards saying, Hey, Quinton Richards! To, obviously, co- coast of the knuckleheads podcast please shout out the miles for us whenever you see 71.25 million you just do this to
Starting point is 00:48:12 SGA you congratulate him how do basketball players view this type of breakthrough type contract happening? Absolutely man I mean all of us are saluting this is a monumental deal the biggest deal in the history so far. And the other part of it is that,
Starting point is 00:48:29 as I understand, he doesn't even have an agent. So he go ahead and pay a couple lawyers, do a little help him with some contracts. And he bring that all to the fam. That's pretty dope right there, SGA. I love that for SGA on a contract here to play the way he did and for his team to play the way they did. Congrats his team to play the way they did.
Starting point is 00:48:45 Congrats to him on getting the bag. Okay, let's talk about a couple of the other stories around free agency that has really caught your eyes. What are some teams we should be looking at or situations that maybe we should spend a little time learning about? Man, H-Town. Houston went crazy yesterday.
Starting point is 00:48:59 You know what I mean? Obviously it started with getting KD and they signed Steven Adams a little earlier in the in the offseason But uh, yeah the moves they were able to make and to get KD without having to give up some of they you know, they bigger pieces like the Shangoon and then they go get Clint Capella and Simon van Vliet back and um Then they steal Dorian Finney Smith from from the Lakers. Like that was a shocking move to me I didn't I didn't foresee them being in the position to do that. So I think they've gone all in this year
Starting point is 00:49:30 and trying to position themselves to, you know, compete with OKC for the West and to try and get a chip. Most craziest off season ever has Kevin Durant moving from Phoenix to Houston, and then Houston continuing to make plays. They were the number two team in the West, I believe this past season, also very young. And they re-signed E-May to a massive deal down there.
Starting point is 00:49:50 Looks like the Houston Rockets are ready to cook down Houston, line of values. Congratulations to them. You just mentioned Finney or Dorian Finney coming from the Lakers. Let's talk about the Lakers a little bit. Ty Schmidt, Ty Sr. has a question for you. Yeah, Q Rich, just curious.
Starting point is 00:50:03 I know the Lakers were pretty keen on bringing in Brooke Lopez He was kind of like the maybe yeah, I don't know the centerpiece, you know of of their offseason now We're hearing eight and maybe obviously he's from the LA area went to Stanford leaves and he's coming back home How much of a needle mover is he for the Clippers? And do you think they did this kind of solely to maybe get one over on the Lakers and also how much does this? Remind you of maybe like Dale seniors leaving bud more And do you think they did this kind of solely to maybe get one over on the Lakers and also how much does this remind you? Of maybe like Dale seniors leaving bud more Engineering and going back to Childress Racing like he did in the late 90s
Starting point is 00:50:35 It does not remind me anything about Dale senior and and because I'm not into the NASCAR racing But I do know who they're hard is but I have no recollection of the moves you're talking about back and forth So I don't know about that but uh on the basketball front I don't I think I think the Clippers did that because it's a great move. They got Brooke Lopez as a backup He's not he you know saying he's not he's not gonna be coming there to he's gonna be backing up Zubak So I think he realizes that you know, possibly he wanted gonna be backing up Zubach so I think he realizes that you know possibly he wanted to be back home and I think it's a bad look for the Lakers that you know Brooke Lopez chose a backup role to Zubach over a situation where he could possibly have been the starter for the Lakers and
Starting point is 00:51:15 I think that says something. Let's stay with the Lakers. D-Bud has a question for you Q. Yeah I want to know number one what does that say about the Lakers in their future how they're going moving forward? Then obviously the biggest piece over there as far as name brand LeBron. What do you see LeBron's future? Do you think it's kind of much to do about nothing? He'll be a Laker when this season comes or do you think it's actually a possibility that he moves on?
Starting point is 00:51:38 I think LeBron is a Laker. I think he wouldn't have opted in if he didn't want to be a Laker. I think you know what I'm saying. He had all the power to opt out and then to be a free agent and to go where he Wanted to go so I think I think he'll be a Laker But as far as what it says about Brooke Lopez making that decision and or infinity Smith leaving I think it says that there's uncertainty about what's going to happen as far as Luca and what's happening in just the look and Feel of the team because Zorian Finney-Smith is a guy who was there
Starting point is 00:52:05 for half a season. So if he liked what he saw, or unless the contract wasn't gonna be matched or something like that, I wouldn't see him moving and leaving there. But with him making that moves and just being there, I think it speaks to the uncertainty of the guys around the league
Starting point is 00:52:19 and the guys around that team knowing what's actually gonna happen there, whether it's with LeBron, Luke or whatever. I wonder how this team looks this year going in, you know? Rich Paul's quote to Shams Sharani, a very interesting, hey, we're just monitoring this thing. He only has a few years left. We'll see a couple of years left.
Starting point is 00:52:34 We'd like it be for championships. With Luca, I automatically assume you'd at least have a chance at a championship each year. I guess we'll have to monitor the situation in Los Angeles. From LA to the East Coast, Let's go to New York Connor Yeah, Q rich New York Nick still looking for a coach Mike Brown's getting a second interview And then the reports were that they reached out to Dawn Staley About their head coaching position a lot of jokes were flying
Starting point is 00:52:58 But it feels as though the NBA is nearing their first ever female head coach How do you think that would work? Obviously, we, Becky Hammond in the Spurs, I know the Pacers have an assistant coach. But how do you think a head coach that is a woman would work in the NBA? And do you think we're kind of probably what, a few years out from that? Or do you think that could be any time now? Yeah, I don't know how far we are out from that, but I think it could work. Like I said, I played for coach Nancy Lieberman in the big three.
Starting point is 00:53:29 And from being a player, being in locker rooms, I know that players respect the coaches that put in the work. The coaches that are prepared, the coaches that are doing what they need to do to have us as prepared as we are. And we as players, we know the difference. You can't cheat it. We see the difference in the game plan and the things that go into it. So I mean, my experience with Nancy Lieberman, man, and
Starting point is 00:53:53 I had all pros on my team, Big Baby Davis, Coutinho Mobley, Corey McGuetti. We were all former NBA players and we all felt the same exact way about her. She was as prepared and as intense and as about winning as any coach we had ever played for. We would have a game on a Saturday or Sunday. And before we even get on the plane to go out of town, she's texting us the game plan for next week and talking about different things. And the big three was big difference from the NBA.
Starting point is 00:54:18 We weren't with each other as much. So she had to do a lot of that remote away from us and she would call and FaceTime. And to me, if you're gonna put in the work to be able to do a lot of that remote away from us and she would call and FaceTime and To me if you're gonna put put in the work to be able to do it I think the guys will give respect. I mean come on man at the end of the day I don't care who you are. You had a mother you got a sister You got you know grandmothers and stuff like that. So we as men suppose to respect women and I don't think it would be that bigger Deal. I think you've seen females and women start to integrate into the different sports
Starting point is 00:54:44 It's a lot of assistance across all of us different sports and doing different things and earning great respect And I think it's just a matter of time before it happens Watching coach Jenny with the Pacers was awesome this playoff run because I was sitting in that seat that was like on the bench She was fucking getting after I mean it was Thank you I mean people think that they don't they they are as intense and as dialed in like Nancy was like, that was the first message to us like, hey, this, we not here to play. We coming to win.
Starting point is 00:55:12 We want to win this whole thing. Like that was the first and the continuing message throughout. So I think that, you know, people don't understand that these women, once they get into these athletic situations, they become dogs and all those things that we do. They get into it and they get wrapped up into it and they all in and the boys responded too i was watching that too because obviously you gotta watch how the boys respond to everything that's going on not just jenny but rick carlile all the assistants and it's like the boys are bought in obviously excited to see that now we only have about a minute before a heart out damien lillard gets uh waved he's gonna make 22 million for the next five years allegedly via reports
Starting point is 00:55:49 Obviously miles ends up. Yeah, God bless him for that for sure. He's coming off an Achilles He's gonna miss next year. What is our immediate thought? What should our immediate thought here be in 30 seconds or less? I'm excited for him man I mean not the best situation, but he's still gonna get his big-time money while he gets to sit out of rehab But he gets to look at the landscape after this year. He'll be a complete free agent He doesn't have to talk here He gets to go and choose where he wants to go so he gets to sit back get healthy and See what what the landscape looks like and where he fits in best He's got that Benia deal to come in
Starting point is 00:56:20 Congrats the ball Congrats to Bobby Bonilla by the way. Another payment of a million dollars until 20. Yeah, what a plan, what a deal. Hey, that is the biggest, that's the, he the goat right there. Yeah, unless you can get 71.25 million a year, you go ahead and get the Bonilla or ladies and gentlemen, Quinn Rich and say thank you. Thank you, Q. No Frills delivers. Get groceries delivered to your door from No Frills with PC Express.

They were a sports prophecy. You're standing on the edge of tomorrow. This fall, the next era of ESPN begins. Sports forever. Sports are happening all the time. You just kind of have to look for it. Like for instance, tonight there'll be a baseball game on somewhere if you want to find it. Hopefully the Savannah Bananas will have a game soon as well. The WNBA is happening, obviously great competition every single evening and mostly storylines
Starting point is 00:57:48 in abundance from all of the sports. For instance, in the NHL, we just talked to the commissioner, Gary Bettman. He said that a new CBA is about to be reached between the NHL and the NHLPA a year early. Congratulations, things are going swimmingly in the NHL with ratings going up and to the right in a potential dynasty down in South Florida brewing and maybe an expansion team in the NFL
Starting point is 00:58:08 well there's massive trades taking place in the middle of nowhere out of the middle of nowhere we got two stars traveling from Miami up to Pittsburgh one star traveling from Pittsburgh down to Miami we still got some contracts looming new storylines developing TJ Watts deal now is gonna be talked about Trey Hendrickson, Shamar Stewart, there's some free agents. I mean NFL is always going to deliver storylines in drama and in the NBA. They're handing out so much money to so many dudes. Congratulations to all the NBA players that signed new deals or extensions. Even the guys are signing like six and a half billion dollar a year deals congratulations yeah great money that is
Starting point is 00:58:47 game-changing money and you talk about 71.25 million dollars a year going to SGA he's living in Oklahoma think about that I do imagine how many barn dominiums he could have out there oh that's seven now great you don't have that no come I don't think you want to have barn dominiums out there in Oklahoma I think you want to have a good base. Sure. From what I've heard out there. But 71.25 million dollars a year in Oklahoma. I could, good.
Starting point is 00:59:11 You've earned it. No agent. You've earned it. Probably the first title. Nine year NFL vet, Darius J. Butler makes a great point. SGA has obviously helped out the city of Oklahoma. Oh yeah. And I assume they feel the same way towards him.
Starting point is 00:59:24 Well earned, congrats. He's not the only guy that got paid, but certainly more than anybody I've ever seen in my life. I don't know what Lou Messi's entire deal is with the MLS, cause I think they had a revenue share with Apple and downloads and everything. So who knows what that is. I know Saudi Arabia has been paying some soccer players
Starting point is 00:59:40 like 250 million, $300 million a year, $450 million a year, 450 million dollars a year. Allegedly, I don't know what's being actually reported and what is actual reality of this entire thing, but 71.25 million a year for one of our main leagues is outrageous and congrats to him. The money's only going up because sports are the greatest thing on earth. Let's go to the Talks at Table with boss Connor and at Ty senior. Good first hour Ty. Thank you very much. Yeah, I mean it's great day to be alive shit. You know you looking at all these No sun still shining when I close my eyes it's a hard time
Starting point is 01:00:20 We might get a strike cuz that sounds exactly like Travis Tritt. Didn't hear D-Butt singing. I'm not familiar with that one. You're not the Travis Tritt guy. I'm not. And it's a great day to be alive. I look up the song, I do my research, I get back to you. How about the devil taking out Johnny? Hey, I did my research on that one.
Starting point is 01:00:40 The devil never had a chance. Johnny's fiddle boy is just so damn good. The devil had no shot, but he was in a bind. He was way behind. He was looking for a soul to steal What was the name of the baby? Charlie Daniels? Okay. That's right. I do too much research. Yeah, don't go to we don't need to know Okay, just right there. We just need to enjoy what's going on Baker Say the Travis. I mean, the devil was looking for a soul to steal and he was in a bind.
Starting point is 01:01:07 He was way behind. He always is. He always is. He is always looking around, but this particular time he went down to Georgia and Johnny said, get the hell out of town, buddy. Because he... I like that he told him, come back. Whatever you ready, whenever you think you got another shot, come back.
Starting point is 01:01:21 Yeah, and you know, the devil said, you got to give to give me his do but Johnny said I don't fuck you and He did a little dance and that if it'll gold was something he made a lot of money off of going forward So Johnny really won in the end just like SGA now one half of the hammer dad Cowboys AP Tony's here. You look awesome Thank you. I appreciate that cool shirt. Thank you. Where'd you get that? Did you know we had that? No, where'd you? I believe we got this in one of those packages like that came with like, um, sweatpants and stuff one time. I found this the other day. People send us stuff and they say, hey, if we were to do your merch, this would be possible. And we always say, yeah, we should do that. And then the follow-up process is just so much. That shirt came in one of those boxes.
Starting point is 01:02:01 Yeah, it's a sick shirt. I found it the other day. It's like my second time wearing it. Shout out to whoever made that. I'd recommend it. And we would like to do business. Keep sending. Keep sending. You forgot a sport where the saltiest of ball is playing. OK, the Pittsburgh Pirates have done something
Starting point is 01:02:17 that hasn't been done since 1925. They've won four straight games by seven or more runs. You better watch out for the hottest team in Major League Baseball Because guess what today they're going for five and it's skeins day brother So look out for the buckos they they're on a roll Shout out to between the numbs Greg Harvey teams in Major League Baseball history to win four straight games by seven plus runs as Tone was alluding to while allowing two or fewer runs so that the bats are working and the pitch is working that's what that's that is basically at the most efficient level pirates pirates and
Starting point is 01:02:51 white stockings everybody knows that white stockings team oh hey bigger bats back then yeah they were using bigger bats that's what people wondered but you could get away with it and white stockings did that they were hitting the shit out of it and their pitchers they were juicing before anybody else I don't know that's not been proven but there's it and their pitchers, they were juicing before anybody else. I don't know. That has not been proven, but there's a chance that the white stockings were juicing. They did have bigger bats. It was 1882, couldn't keep track of it.
Starting point is 01:03:12 What I'm saying is what the Pirates are playing like right now is out of this world. Okay. And people need to remember that at one point, this particular program was calling the owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates, the worst owner in history of sports. There was people coming on this show saying the owners wasted Paul Skeens and
Starting point is 01:03:27 his pitching staff that's actually pretty good because they didn't bring anybody in that has any bats. Well now the bats have come alive. I wonder if ownership has come out and said I had belief in our team, you did not have belief in our team. Now he could certainly spend a little bit more money to make this team better, I agree with that. He is still an ass owner, I think we would all agree with that. But with that being said, there is some vindication for him I assume saying, we do have the bats and we're doing it right now. We beat the shit out of the Mets. You think that
Starting point is 01:03:55 owner is looking at what Cohen's doing at the Mets? Thinking to himself at all, I need to be doing that after what he's seen? No way. I think it's a major league situation though where they hate the owner and they've got a You know a cardboard cut out of him in the in the locker room and every time they get a win They're just ripping off of a piece of clothing until Bob nut and sitting there in a g-string at the end of season We got the pennant I see the Reds there and fourth in the NL Central joining us now as a man is a college football National champion a Super Bowl champion. Oh
Starting point is 01:04:24 Below the Reds well, we're Bowl champion. Oh, below the Reds. Well, we're climbing. Only 11 games out of the wild card. Ladies and gentlemen, AJ Haw. Yeah. I don't know if you saw where the buckos were, right there below the Cincinnati Reds. Don't know how that's possible, because I saw Kirk Herbstreet
Starting point is 01:04:38 put out his annual tweet about, I can't do it with this Red. I'll still watch. But I can't do it, saying they're playing bad ball. Lo and behold eight games ahead of the Pirates. So maybe he... Pirates are above 500 since Don Kelly took over it's really just... Yeah that matters. It does! I would just let... if the Pirates go on and win, if they win the next 14 Tony then you guys can get to 500 then you reset and then it's another new season then right? That's what you're That's well baseball every season is a month. You know every season. Well, they've had a great June. Oh, they've had a good July Well, this thing doesn't end till goddamn october. So we hope we can continue this thing. There's a lot
Starting point is 01:05:16 So you can't be doing that Get the ball, but I caught it. Does that count? Oh, yeah, as long as I keep it off the ground Yeah, correct ball comes flying boom. I'll bubble it boom this the ground. Yeah, correct. Ball comes flying, boom, I'll bobble it. Boom, this hand. Happened in the game. You got it. Savannah bananas, boom, bang. Yeah, that's an out. Happened in a game where it went,
Starting point is 01:05:32 hit the guy's glove in right field, center fielder's running over, goes from the right fielder's glove out, center fielder catches it, see you later. Tag team back again, that's what they're saying out there? It was, that was like last week or something. It was incredible Okay, sweet baseball is happening AJ. Obviously we're all watching every single evening. There is a little bit of positive momentum I will say
Starting point is 01:05:54 We'll certainly circle back to it put a pin in it uh all the High corporate terms whenever a bunch of suits are involved from you know Sure, we all got ways to say things without saying things. That's kind of their world. Zoom call, drop some of those. New zoom call, we can reuse first zoom call shit cause this is a new audience.
Starting point is 01:06:13 We'll circle back, put a pin in from a high level. That seems like a good idea. We've got good momentum on this side. You know, bang, we jump into a new zoom. We're just talking about the good momentum we had in this thing. You know, that's day, bang, bum ba ba ba Anyway in one of those Momentum came
Starting point is 01:06:28 There's a chance we're going to home run Derby Pretty pumped up about that Can you imagine big dumper hits 65 home runs in round one on that note big dumper last night hits a dinger obviously And I wonder and granted he's so locked in and focused on everything. This is one of those where he hit it, probably thought it was out. Could you imagine if that ends up short,
Starting point is 01:06:50 just the same day where I bring up like, hey, if you thought you hit one and then that thing goes short, I immediately think, oh no, we're bad luck. This is just like when LeBron came on and did the LeBron conversation and he had two points in the first half and they're like, this is the worst game
Starting point is 01:07:02 that he's ever played. It's like, oh no. Then he gets a game winner, sucks for the Pacers, great for the program, that they're like this is the worst game that he's ever played it's like oh no then he gets a game winner sucks for the Pacers great for the program that we're not the Jinx cowl hitting a bomb with the big dump uh chance obviously happening at the same time feels like we didn't jinx the big dumper no and that's great news that that just takes us off uh of any of those types of things and we move forward it's It's actually the opposite of Jinx and the Big Dumper, because he had not hit a homer in about six games in a row. And he comes on the show, hits a homer,
Starting point is 01:07:31 you know, and everyone's talking about, hey, his name's being mentioned with, you know, Barry Bonds, Babe Ruth, Ken Griffey Jr., you know, of that ilk. So yeah, I'd say Dumper's doing just fine. Well, yeah, I mean, different sport, but you could obviously throw in Senior in there as well. I mean, I'd love to see Dumper behind the wheel of a NASCAR.
Starting point is 01:07:49 I'd love to see Senior in the box. Yeah, me too. He's not even taking that one off the head, right? He's certainly crowded in the plate. Oh yeah, Junior's on top of the plate. Senior. You're right, my mistake. Just wait to charge the match.
Starting point is 01:08:01 Junior too, Junior too. You know, it runs in the blood, but yeah. Senior yeah seniors on top of the plate and you know what he's doing He's almost baiting the pitcher. Hey hit me and then guess what? I'm gonna do. I'm gonna charge them out I'm gonna beat your fucking ass. Hey, I think that's what you're having there And obviously you made a massive shot for Dale earner when we were at JMU One of the greatest moments in this show's history We had a moment of silence for three then we came back AJ shot a three made it place goes crazy I mean it was a wonderful thing have you been witnessing Ty senior here today did
Starting point is 01:08:30 not expect this did not know this kind of a nice little treat for a Tuesday I will say AJ yeah absolutely treat see and every time he pops back up especially on the one shot when you see Ty senior just I don't I mean I feel like I'm watching Dale senior I feel like this is Dale senior reincarnated So I'm guessing Dale jr. And the rest of the family really enjoyed it today. Yeah Break and I said hey listen D bone just cuz you're a fat sack of lard doesn't mean you gotta I said the same thing back here. Thank you. Thank you You don't have to give me eight necks. Okay, he said, well guess what, that was Croc.
Starting point is 01:09:06 I mean, you know what? I don't give a shit about me, okay? That is a disservice to Senior, okay? Because if you put some fat schlub with eight necks right next to Senior, what do you think he's gonna think when he's looking at that? So maybe we could take another one where I can actually lift my daggum head up and I don't have a bunch of fucking necks and I'm sick and tired of this shit. Bullshit. See, he's eight feet tall too. Yeah, well.
Starting point is 01:09:32 Did I see NASCAR tweeted this out too? I think I did. I don't know if it was that picture, but I know NASCAR did, sorry, let me assume the position again. Uh oh, I see it. Yeah. Just poke your chin forward a little bit, maybe,
Starting point is 01:09:44 or something. Uh oh. I see it. Yeah. Just poke your, poke your chin forward a little bit maybe or something. Uh oh. There it is. You got something else coming today, Bone. I'll tell you that. He's been fired up all day. And you know what? I haven't said a thing because usually, you know, I'll rough his feathers a bit. I'll go in there and say, Jesus, Bone, this is the eighth bag of chips you've had today it's 1015 slow down a bit I haven't said any of that stuff lately because I've been you know he's good kid he's a good boy and I just try not to ruffle his feathers boy I tell you what I'm gonna be counting
Starting point is 01:10:15 his calories the rest of the week. Someone better. Yeah. Oh he actually just he just texted said long time coming bro. Touche. Oh, you actually just eat just Texas that long time coming, bro She Joke, all right That's amazing. That's cuz a four-part documentary on Amazon. That's why we got this today. I need to watch that Yeah, you do
Starting point is 01:10:37 Thank you for the service to sports Dale Arnhardt senior. Hell, yeah, I think it's I have not seen the documentary, but I feel like I've learned about it enough I have not seen the documentary, but I feel like I've learned about it enough. A person has completely transformed who he is and do it. Job well done honoring a great American icon here on 4th of July week, obviously. Let's hit some, no, we should do this. AJ, do you have a thought on 71.25 million bucks a year for SGA? Yeah, when is the first hundred million a year guy going to break into the league is my question after that What be NBA first or there were the NFL signed a new? CBA NBA possibly quarterback, but yeah, probably NBA and the crazy thing is NBA guaranteed
Starting point is 01:11:19 You know, we see Dame Leroy waved up still getting your cash 22 million for the next five years for him The Bobby Bonilla deal obviously everybody talks about this day of the year because it's like they were waived, still getting your cash. 22 million for the next five years for him. The Bobby Bonilla deal, obviously everybody talks about this day of the year, because it's like 1.3 million or something until 2035. Beautifully executed, good for him to pull that off. He, you mentioned a $75 million a year deal that's around the corner, I guess, who's that? Devin Booker.
Starting point is 01:11:40 So the highest paid player will almost always be from a player that was drafted by that team They're always able to get a little bit more but Devin Booker. He'll be eligible. I believe July 6 to get that two-year 150 million dollar extension, I think it'll be 72 in the first year and 78 in the second. Okay, so that's roughly 75 million a year So they're already at 75 million a year right now quarterbacks are at 60 million a year, right? That's where the top quarterback is So well the new CBA
Starting point is 01:12:08 For the NFL gets a point where quarterbacks are in tears for the supermax like quarterbacks are taken out They're kind of over here Then the rest of the team has their own ship because the way the NBA works you draft the person you can put the supermax on Them without them ever hitting the market. Yeah when they make especially they make over all the NBA teams and things like that. Yeah, so we would assume that the NFL could potentially roll out a quarterback tiering system that you could put onto a quarterback if they're gonna become a free agent without having to give them 35% of the salary cap or whatever it is now and everything else haven't happened. I think everybody's kind of on board
Starting point is 01:12:44 with the quarterback matters, quarterback needs to get paid the most, but also their contracts are clearly a direct impactor of the rest of the roster. We all understand that. So I wonder if there will be a conversation about that in the NFL. And would that lead to bigger deals for quarterbacks
Starting point is 01:13:01 or would that lead, I wonder, you know? Yeah, would they put a cap, I mean, I don't know. Is there a way you could cap the total that a quarterback could average? I don't know. I don't know what they're planning, but yeah, you gotta pay them, you gotta have them. It's a great problem to have for NFL teams.
Starting point is 01:13:13 Yeah, cause I think they could probably have like a super max tier, cause they already tender guys, like first round tender, second round tender. You could probably have like a super max type thing for a quarterback, a second max, if it's a second second level and then you just have to decide that and then I Guess they could probably go to the market and say hey, we're getting a second offer Will you give us a super offer like that'd be a way to get them away from the salary cap? But they had that in the past was called the quarterbacks club. It was like Jim Kelly John Elway
Starting point is 01:13:40 I think Moreno was a part of a command far Aikman Farve. Akeman, Farve. They were doing their own licensing deals. They had their own everything. People were not about that. I think there was a lot of people that were upset about them kind of going to business for themselves. But now we're at the point where it's like, hey, we kind of are though. They're their own separate thing and not in a bad way,
Starting point is 01:13:57 in a good way. Like, but yeah, when they're that elite and there's a handful of them on the planet that can do that job, like it's true. Like they should probably be in their own category. Yeah, like the basketball super max thing, I think that makes it easier for teams and for players, like hey you're here, we value you, this is what the contract is, it's a super max, we're giving you as much as we can possibly give you, this is how it works, so there isn't any beef retention there. Now if you were to give the second max, then it would be, and
Starting point is 01:14:24 then you could see it But the NFL needs their form of that for the quarterbacks. I think personally yeah, and the NBA I think in two years is going up a decent amount I think 2026 the salary cap goes like 180 or something So you know by the time like Cooper flag is getting his super max You would think that if he does hit those escalators that he might be 100 million a year you wonder what the NFL to you know We talked about the quarterback contracts and like the Steelers situation for instance where they're not paying a quarterback quarterback money
Starting point is 01:14:56 But now they have to think about paying You know a pass rusher quarterback money and then you think about like the the bangles with Jamar chase paying him like quarterback Money, if you will. I do think you've brought up the percentages before about how a team could allocate a percentage of a salary cap towards a player. Do you think they'll have to do that for other positions too because the money for those other positions is getting so massive? That's crazy maybe that's just a part of like the max like you know like maybe they just have a new tiering system for what contracts are and those obviously all scale and change with the league with whatever it is.
Starting point is 01:15:29 I assume it would be a certain percentage of the salary cap, but it just the way these quarterback deals. I mean, especially if it goes up to 6570 million. Yeah, they too will. And now in basketball, obviously five guys on the court. Now I know you need 13 guys, 12 guys to win. I know you need that, but I'm saying five, for football it's 24 people, 25 people on the field. 11 offense, 11 defense, three specialists, you know, like that is 25 different people that need to get money, let alone the other, what, 28 people on the roster that need to get paid. So it's not as easy as, I don't wanna say it's easy,
Starting point is 01:16:04 but you get it. It's not the. So it's not as easy as, I don't wanna say it's easy, but you get it. It's not the same, because there's so many more people, but it's like, I do wonder when the tiering system starts to come to the NFL. Do you think that they would consider like getting rid of the voided years and things of that nature, because it is such a weapon for those massive deals?
Starting point is 01:16:21 Like the NHL just did the, or not just did, but allegedly in the next CBA, the NHL just did the or not just it but allegedly in the next CBA the NHL is doing you know you can only do six year deals for free agents and seven year deals for traded guys when it comes to extended contracts. Do you think that could be something that might help change the money allocation at least so you can't just you know pay everybody a ton of money and then you know two years into some of those deals They're out of them. Well, allegedly hockey is Trying to crack down on the teams utilizing the long-term IR where they pay people and then they don't play then are able to
Starting point is 01:16:55 Bring them back for the playoffs because they go against the salary cap their new CBA They're trying to eliminate the gamesmanship seemingly. Yeah from what it seems like So let's assume that other leagues will do the same like the salary cap gymnastics that's happening right now in Mike Greenberg was on get up dynamite 15 seconds 35 seconds he's like one of the greatest salary captain gymnast in the history him Veach over in Kansas City I think there's obviously bean is in the middle of doing some of it Mickey Lewis in New Orleans has been doing salary for a long time. And it's like, has it worked out?
Starting point is 01:17:26 I don't know. I love chewing gum into microphones. We shouldn't judge him for that. And only that. But it's like, that's a talent. I think I do wonder if the other teams that don't have that as well. We'll try to crack down. Who knows?
Starting point is 01:17:38 Okay. Let's pivot away from sports for a second and let's go to a game show. Let's go to a game show. That's about killing somebody. Yep. Whoa. I don't game show that's about killing somebody. Yep. Whoa, I don't like that. Yes you do! I will.
Starting point is 01:17:49 Squiggy! Yes you do! Ladies and gentlemen, the official trailer of a movie that our friend is starring in has dropped today. Ladies and gentlemen, The Running Man. Ben Richards, 35, married one child in medical crisis. We need money for a doctor now. Ben, watch yourself.
Starting point is 01:18:11 Employment status, blacklisted. But there's still a way out for you. It's the biggest show in the country. Blood lust is our birthright! Set it free! Welcome to the Running Man! People in these games never come back. Am I trying to get myself killed?
Starting point is 01:18:38 So I kiss my ass twice. Right there. Is why you can win this game. The rules are simple. Survive 30 days with the entire nation hunting you down. And get your family out of slow-side for good. I ain't gonna come back here and burn this building down. I promise, that's the spirit.
Starting point is 01:19:03 This is America America goddammit Hunt him down I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you!
Starting point is 01:19:27 I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you!
Starting point is 01:19:35 I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you!
Starting point is 01:19:43 I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! I'm gonna kill you! You might be moving up too fast. Hey buddy, you're on freebie. You better run! I got a grenade! Back at you. I'm still here, you shit eaters. Hey, big boys!
Starting point is 01:20:27 Are you crazy? November 7th, Running Man will debut and premiere. Speaking of premiering, we were told we were going to have the exclusive drop on the trailer that you just watched right there. They dropped it at 9 a.m. this morning, which is very nice of them to do that. But we did have a chance to catch up with that handsome legend one week ago. Ladies and gentlemen, a man is going to be known as a goat whenever it's all said and done. You know him from Top Gun Maverick.
Starting point is 01:21:01 You obviously know him from Twister, anyone but you. You name it when he's on the screen, you can't help but say, damn, that guy's incredibly handsome. Yeah. Incredibly talented, incredibly jacked, and somehow still relatable. The star of The Running Man, ladies and gentlemen, friend of the program, die hard Texas Longhorn fan,
Starting point is 01:21:19 Glenn Powell. Yeah, Glenn! Thank you, Glenn. Shout out to the Horns, appreciate you. Yeah, maybe next year, brothers, maybe or. Game day, man. I'm like, Pat, I thought we were friends and you know, I forgive you, but we'll get you this season. I'm going to get your horns up this season.
Starting point is 01:21:38 Well, listen, Archie Manning is under at the Hill. I mean, there is a lot of reasons for me to be a massive Texas Longhorns fan, but also, you know, that's all business. I just think the football, the game, the way it's going to go, Texas knock will be on top, it'll be on bottom. But a lot of times, hey, I'm like, boys, hook them, hook them. You know, let's dive into your world. OK, we just saw that trailer. You're awesome dude. It feels like any role you can play you know because you're this potential heartthrob rom-com character all the time legitimately. You could be casted
Starting point is 01:22:12 in that for a thousand of them forever and make look I mean just look how handsome you are. It's unbelievable. It's unbelievable and well I don't know if you can. You wake up and see that face. I don't know how you do it. I don't know if you can. You wake up and see that face. I don't know how you do it. I don't know how you remain as humble as you are. Okay, just forget about that. Take the compliments and then let's move forward. Then obviously Top Gun Maverick is a different animal. Then Twister, different animal.
Starting point is 01:22:35 Then this, it's going to be a completely different animal. It's like, how much fun was it to do the running man? And how do you mentally and physically get ready for all these different types of roles if that is a question that thespians are supposed to be asked. I mean, this is this is this is one that was really, really fun because like, you know, when you obviously sign on to something called the running man, you got to learn how to be a runner, you know, and running on screen is its own complexity. You know, you and I are both friends with the greatest on screen runner of all time,
Starting point is 01:23:04 who gave me some pointers, you know, I mean, drive with the knees, you know, but you know, one of the things that I really, you know, got to do on this one is really learn how to be out in front of an action movie and like be bulletproof. So getting like in shape and for all the hits, you know, when you see this movie, I'm taking every hit in the book. It is, it is, I went through it on this one and it's awesome. I mean, the movie just kicks ass all the way through. Yeah. The trailer is insane. We were very lucky to see it like a week or two ago. Then obviously there, I think there was some final changes before the edit that just ran. It
Starting point is 01:23:39 is electrifying. I mean, I cannot wait to watch and this is like the ascent continues for you For you as an actor for you as a person like how do you view all these jobs? I think there's a firefighter movie that just got added in to the repertoire like like how do you feel about all these different jobs? You feel like you're in the middle of quite a run right now. This is what you've dreamt of or do you just view it? Like go ahead, you know, it's like it's like the only you know I love movies so much I've loved them ever since I was a kid you know growing up in Austin it's like I've been doing this since I was like 10 years old and it's finally kind of now just getting traction and so yeah I'm getting to play all these roles that I've always wanted to do and I'm getting to work with like dream directors like Edgar Wright you know Edgar has been one of my favorite directors for a really
Starting point is 01:24:23 really long time you know ever since I saw Shaun of the Dead or like Hot Fuzz, I mean, this guy, this guy's one of the great directors of all time. And this is like his sweet spot. He is throwing fastballs in this movie and just crushing it. So I'm just like, I really think this movie is just designed for the theaters and people are just going to be, they're going to walk out of the theater ready to run. The first iteration of this movie was done with Arnold Schwarzenegger and uh I hope my knees get the message that you just said after watching the movie ready to run because my knees say don't run
Starting point is 01:24:52 don't run every time I start to run but after watching you I assume I'll get back out there and you know run for my life which is what you were doing in this particular movie. Arnold Schwarzenegger obviously did the first iteration of the Stephen King novel as the head. Did you talk to him beforehand? I believe there was like a blessing from Arnold to you to do the movie. And he actually said back then with the budget limitations first what's possible now technology wise,
Starting point is 01:25:17 he was like excited to watch you. He said that publicly, I don't know privately if there was any convos. And do you talk to any other action stars before you do an action movie? Yeah, you know, I think like look with Arnold what was really fun is we did Expendables 3 together when I was You know mid-20s something like that out in Bulgaria Which is we shot a little bit of Running Man back at the scene of the crime of Expendables
Starting point is 01:25:40 Which was kind of full circle, but yeah Arnold gave us this full blessing And I mean that's the really fun part about it is he said, look, I mean, the original Stephen King book is awesome. But, you know, he was like, they kind of took creative liberties and didn't really stick too close to the book. And he's like, you guys could do this way better than what we did. So he said that publicly and has given us full blessing in this movie. And there's a bunch of Arnold Easter eggs in our movie too.
Starting point is 01:26:06 So he's given us his blessing and there's a, yeah. If you're a fan of the Arnold, you'll see some of it in our movie. That's awesome. You're just gonna be running towards a helicopter every time. Okay, I like that. Topper, topper, topper, topper. Ty, there's a question for you, Glenn.
Starting point is 01:26:18 Glenn, when it comes to a movie like this, and obviously you've been in like Top Gun, you've been in some of those like really top line movies, but when it comes to doing a remake that a lot of people love, is there any like anxiety or, I don't know, like a need to really fulfill what audiences want? Because you know, when this comes out, there's going to be obviously people that love it. But if it doesn't go at, you know, like like it could, I guess, people are going to say, oh, you know, like this should have never been remade
Starting point is 01:26:45 Like this is a pile of shit I mean, and I don't think that's the case obviously with you and Eddie you're right But is there a sense of like oh man, I really need to nail this so that that whole conversation doesn't get started Yeah at the end of the day, I mean I learned a lot of that when I was making Top Gun You know you learned that there's like a reverence when you're whenever you're taking sort of something that means a lot to people, you have to figure out a way to improve upon it, you know, update it to to modern sensibilities and always try to try to beat your time, so to speak. And, and Edgar is like the perfect director for this. I really feel like again, we have we had the best team around this thing to really make this thing pop so I mean I'm not just saying this like we really we really
Starting point is 01:27:30 deliver on this one so I'm not worried about those sort of reactions I feel I feel very confident that audiences are gonna walk right happy even the loyalists Glenn I've only known you for a few years anything you do yeah gold you do well yeah so we we are a believer that if Glenn likes the script it's's gonna be good. If Glenn's in it, it's gonna be good. I think that is a massive compliment to you from all of us that don't know as much about the movies, but obviously you talked about Top Gun there. Huge, and you talked about running on screen. Huge influence in our life. Yeah. I couldn't even imagine yours. Connor has a question. Yeah, hey man, we talked to TC the the goats and he kind of dove into his preparation, his acting process when getting ready for a role. Was there anything you picked up from TC, you know, that you've carried
Starting point is 01:28:16 along with you over these past few years when getting ready for movies and preparing for specific roles? You know, I think the thing that I didn't really anticipate is when you take a hit on screen, you're actually absorbing that hit, right? You may not actually be getting hit in the face, but if you're falling over a table, you're falling over a table. If you're falling off a rooftop
Starting point is 01:28:38 and hitting the side of a building, that's exactly what's happening. If you're jumping off a bridge and the thing's exploding, like it's happening. So you're jumping off a bridge and the things exploding, it's happening. So there's a level of beating that you're taking in this movie that I think we all kind of look at it. When you watch a movie, you're like, oh, it's the movies. And then when you're actually doing it, you're like, this shit hurts. So I think the one thing that Cruz really prepared me for was really just making sure that I was as bulletproof going into that fire as possible. And I really, really appreciate it because I needed it. Yeah, I understand we're going to the next scene when we're watching a movie and yeah,
Starting point is 01:29:17 I just went through a wall. Yeah, well, look at that. The running man goes through a wall. Wow, let's go to the next scene. Yeah, I actually went through that wall right there like let's let's have a moment from when I hit the wall yeah that's what you're saying any injuries any injuries you look you definitely get some you know cuts and nicks along the way but nothing we can't handle just a little soreness I not a little soreness but I assume that did take a little bit to get used to I can't wait to shred it oh my god you remember him? Where were we at? We were down at the cotton ball. I believe. Uh-huh. Yeah
Starting point is 01:29:51 Yeah, the uh the beater on yep Black tank and we were all in and we were all in uh flight suits. Yeah Yeah, but you were absolutely so jock sunistening. I mean it was like a thousand degrees Vascula there's so much about Jacked out there. I couldn't even imagine for running man. Oh god. I couldn't even know he's gonna be just shredded by Arnold It's gonna be gross. That's gonna be a little easter egg. That's one of the Easter eggs. Yeah the Easter egg is Arnold's Arnold biceps for this
Starting point is 01:30:26 Oh can't wait to see them god somehow Glenn Powell only gets better uh tone is a question for you glenn Yeah, glenn first and foremost if you can feel it Chase it Yeah, that's a big moment for him glenn that's a big moment. I boy you've no idea I needed that I'm gonna need five minutes after this is over to see boys later It feels like Maverick made you want to chase something I was I was watching the Blue Angels doc that you produced on Amazon, which was awesome It feels like you're chasing that cockpit again
Starting point is 01:31:01 So that's really kind of the big question moving forward because I know top-code three rumors are out there when are we getting back in the cockpit you know that's up to tc I mean um he probably he probably gave you guys more information than I have but we're we're definitely moving towards uh another trip to Miramar pretty soon so I'm not I'm not exactly sure where that'll land me but it'll uh I'm very excited to get back in the Jets. All right, so by the time the movie comes out, November 7th, I believe, 2025, what will we be saying about the Texas Longhorns then? Well, that'll be post-OU, that'll be post Ohio State. We're gonna be moving,
Starting point is 01:31:42 that'll be around some really, really big games. So I'm feeling pretty good guys I'm feeling confident just ran into sark Uh, we got a hell of a squad our recruiting keeps getting stronger and stronger. So as long as I can get pat's Longhorns high and strong Don't you do it don't you do it? Well, hopefully hopefully we cross paths at some Longhorn Games this fall.
Starting point is 01:32:07 That's what I'm hoping. Yeah, your life, how are you scheduling long-term life? We saw you had eight, at the time of this conversation, you had eight things in the works. I think you're even writing a movie alongside Judd. I think there's, you got a lot of things happening. And this is, obviously we talked about at the beginning, the dream, but I know all these projects take like a lot
Starting point is 01:32:26 of time and then travel and I think you were living in Europe for a bit, who knows, I don't know where you are now. It's like, how do you project what the future looks like and are you just fully committed to the business? I feel like Clooney, whenever he was on his run, disappear, gone. Leo, he's gone.
Starting point is 01:32:42 TC, gone. Just like out of sight, out of mind, basically. Out of life, I think, because you're working. Is it becoming like that for you or are you still trying to remain a human every once in a while? Oh man, well the best part is like I have my friends, I'm in Glasgow, Scotland. I just had some friends come and visit me here. You know, I'm going back to London. I got a lot of friends shooting in London. I got my family coming out and meeting me there So even though I can't be back home in Austin, Texas right now I can I can have a lot of my friends here. So it always feels like there's home around so I'm not
Starting point is 01:33:12 I'm not isolated. I'm not getting a chance to like lose my sense of life and adventure I take fun weekend trips and stuff like that So we we still have a good time like like we just went to Bordeaux the other weekend and rented some race cars and just hauled ass through the French countryside. So I'm still living life. I'm still having fun. Oh life's pretty good. Yeah, not bad.
Starting point is 01:33:32 Yeah, life's pretty good. Yeah, we rented some race cars, one through the Bordeaux country. I didn't even know that was an option, sweet. Happy to hear that. And my favorite part is Chad Powers comes out this fall and so I get to build my entire press schedule around Chad. I get to just live at Texas Longhorn Games
Starting point is 01:33:48 as part of introducing the show to everyone. So I'm like, I'm feeling it. Isn't it amazing, isn't it amazing that Glenn signs up for a gig character that they're trying to make him look like an asshole? You know, big nose, terrible hair. Somehow, it's going to be a sex symbol. Somehow. I have no idea how.
Starting point is 01:34:09 Can't wait to watch. Can't wait to see you promote that movie. Can't wait to see how much The Running Man's beloved. All your other projects are going to be smash hits, and we're incredibly pumped and happy for you, man. Sports guy doing great things in the movies. We appreciate the hell out of you. No, I appreciate you guys. Thank you guys so much. Obviously, big fan of everything you, man. Sports guy doing great things in the movies. We appreciate the hell out of you. No, I appreciate you guys.
Starting point is 01:34:25 Thank you guys so much. Obviously, big fan of everything you guys do. And yeah, hope to see you guys a bunch this fall. Do it. Keep them up, baby. Keep them up. Don't you dare. You're the man.
Starting point is 01:34:38 Ladies and gentlemen, Future Goat. Incredibly handsome. Yeah, very handsome. Charming and fit. This guy's going to make you go run after we're done. You're the man ladies and gentlemen future goat Incredibly handsome charming In fit this guy's gonna make you go run after watching his new movie the running man. Ladies and gentlemen, Glen Powell. Thank you Shout out to Glen Powell for joining us last week Obviously he pops on a screen and it's just like yeah, this dude's unbelievably attractive. It's outrageous AJ him Jesse Palmer
Starting point is 01:35:04 I forget who else There's like a couple dudes that have walked by and you just go Holy shit, this guy's supposed to be it's got supposed to be what he is and he's so cool So humble him living in Scotland going to London he's fully committed obviously to the business that he's in and He's a rocket ship to the top ain't that right Tysen here? Yeah without a doubt You know if he wants to take that rocket ship really out of the Milky Way and into galaxies We've never seen I've been saying it for a while now. I think it's timeless and I love Barry Pepper's rendition of Dale senior
Starting point is 01:35:32 A couple years ago is actually an ESPN movie I think I think Glenn needs to grow the mustache out and I think we need a full-fledged You think you should do like f1 did their movie of Brad Pitt? You think Glenn Powell should do a NASCAR? No, I ain't talking NASCAR. I'm talking Dale Sr. Biopic from the time he was a wee little boy. In Canapolis. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:35:54 All the way up to, you know, winning cup after cup after cup after cup. I believe he won seven Winston Cups. No big deal. So yeah, I'd like to see that. Maybe his relationship with Junior too. I mean I just I think it's time we get to that point. So I don't know Glenn if you're listening grow the stash out and you know we know you're a writer maybe you pen that yourself. He's a little busy
Starting point is 01:36:14 obviously with a lot of things and if he was to do another Dale Earnhardt biopic type thing we would obviously watch. We'll watch anything he does because in there I told him you make good selection seemingly like he makes good he's a part of good movies seems like that is kind of a narrative that's building about him and the running man thing looks sweet that trailer was outrageous AJ Josh Brolin too is a great character I saw in that trailer yeah anything Glenn does right now it seems to to go to the top I hope I just hope Glenn it sounds like he is enjoying himself what riding fancy cars driving fast cars through Bordeaux like that's not real life
Starting point is 01:36:45 Like that's a that's a set of a movie and Glenn is living that day to day right now So I hope he's truly enjoying because he's living in a it's a great time in his career. That's for sure Oh, yeah, we went down in South France and we actually race race cars through the side Fire movie doesn't out. Yeah. Movie looks fire. Movie does look fire. Yeah, it looks very good. Stephen King.
Starting point is 01:37:09 It made me think about the college football season there whenever- That was awesome. That was awesome. Seeing the clip. I forgot about that. That was... That's soon.
Starting point is 01:37:20 Oh yeah. Very soon. College football is soon. That NFL, I mean- It's July right now. It's July. I mean, if you're in the NFL, you're thinking about camp already. Yes, exactly.
Starting point is 01:37:29 You're definitely thinking about like, all right, I got to figure out how to hit the weight that I need to get at if you're out of shape. Or you need to, or some people think, okay, I need to sustain where I'm at right now for just a few more weeks. I mean, we're getting into it right now. It's July 1st. Yeah. That's unbelievable.
Starting point is 01:37:43 August 30th, I believe, is the first college game day. Yeah, right. That's Ohio State in Texas I wonder if Glenn Powell be there for that. Yeah, that's good one One of the week before that is the the Ireland game too. So we're I mean zero, you know, we're not too far away Okay, Friday July 4th. I mean, of course shot for Happy Birthday America. Happy Birthday America. Happy Birthday Dale senior But also only 61 days away. So first game is September 4th So you get to that July 4th. Remember when you're waking up. Hey, we're basically just two months away You know carries through the summer. What's that? Well, you got baseball. Sure. Yeah W. Yeah horse The movie I guess they're saying is really good. I mean I just mentioned it there the movie
Starting point is 01:38:23 I guess is phenomenal. Very very very good. Did you watch the movie? I did watch I did watch it. I don't want to no spoilers I like you people, you know, does Brad Pitt come out on top? He's Brad Pitt that'd be a spoiler. I mean Sonny Hayes, you know Sonny had brought it Uh, but uh, yeah great cast great picture. Um, once I won't go too far. I'm hearing ram jam of f1. Is that right? What's that? Uh, That was the wrestler? Yep You ever seen movie the wrestler Mickey Rourke? He's ram jamming around he was a little bit older wrestlers. Are you going around Indy still? Well, yes, sorry. Well, we know Brad is it is an older gentleman at this point
Starting point is 01:38:56 So yeah older driver think 50s in the movie, but I mean he has a young teammate what uh, you know, it's a movie All right. It's a movie. That's not real. Okay. We got to suspend belief there for a little bit or whatever. Jimmy Johnson did it. It's believing. Someone so cool like Brad Pitt wouldn't race in F1 because it's stupid. I heard, no, I heard Brad Pitt was actually racing in F1. Legit.
Starting point is 01:39:16 That's what I heard. Movie magic. No, they're saying for real he was doing. Because you don't have to pass anybody, right? Yeah. You think. Watch the movie, A.D.R. Hey, follow that pass anybody, right? Yeah. You think. Watch the movie AJ. Hey, follow that guy. Hey, follow that guy, Brad.
Starting point is 01:39:28 Watch the movie. You know, AJ is going to be a fan after you watch it. I'm going to watch the movie. I'm a huge fan of Brad Pitt. I will absolutely watch it. But is he eating in the cockpit, D-Bud? Has to. No.
Starting point is 01:39:38 I won't spoil that part. No, he's right. We don't have eating Brad Pitt? Not a single scene of him eating? It didn't until the day of the night. It did in Talladega Nights. What's that? Eating in the cockpit. Yeah, I mean, Talladega Nights though, you're talking a little bit different style of racing.
Starting point is 01:39:53 Super real. Real racing. Well, that Fig Newton's, right on the windshield was certainly inconvenient, but I do love me some Fig Newton's. Of course. Of course. I think it's a little different with F1. I don't think it's as...
Starting point is 01:40:08 I wonder if Dale could have driven F1. What? Come on now. Dale could drive anything that's got wheels, brother. So yeah, he'd have been just fine driving F1. Sorry. You fool. Sorry.
Starting point is 01:40:19 Apologize to the disrespect. Thank you. All good. We're supposed to be joined by a champ here relatively soon. Oh yeah? Another champ? Champ champ. You have some champs in there, I like that. This guy might be the best of all time.
Starting point is 01:40:27 Whoa. Is it? Smart words. He's a stud. He might be the greatest of all time. See, here we go. Still young. We have not been able to connect to him yet,
Starting point is 01:40:38 but we will certainly continue to try. Okay. Ilya Toporya will be joining us, as AJ's screen just froze a little bit there, so we might be having connection issues all over the place This guy's undefeated has been a champion of two different weight classes now He had to vacate one title and move on to the next one now. He's a lightweight champion of the UFC He's that he wasn't as tall as Charles. Obviously. There's been a lot of reach conversation. He's got thunder and lightning
Starting point is 01:41:00 He's got thunder and lightning and then he moved to Spain I guess as a as a as a boy and he goes from Greco-Roman wrestling in Georgia being like world champion or whatever. Then he goes to Spain, they don't necessarily have that so then he just gets into MMA and becomes a Jiu Jitsu master and everything. This guy has been, this guy is made to fight and he is electric to watch. In the last 17 months he slept, KO'd, Valk all the way and now Olivera. You're talking about three legends of sport and this guy I think the world is just really getting introduced to at this point. For Dana and for the UFC this is a great time for a new oh my this might be goat conversations guy to show up in the UFC but I feel like everybody
Starting point is 01:41:46 else in the UFC that's in the goat conversations like we don't really want to mess with this guy let's get this guy seems to be a little bit different than everybody else what a good thing for the UFC and it's been an honor to watch this guy fight we've gone through his highlights a little bit more here uh because we heard there was a chance he would come by the show electrifying fighter AJ absolutely electrifying. What's awesome about him, like he comes in with like a jujitsu background, and then all of a sudden he becomes an unbelievable striker
Starting point is 01:42:11 and he's knocking dudes out. He obviously submits people too, but he seems to, I think he's finished what? All but two fights. Like he, if you want to see some action, you turn on one of his fights for sure, man. Yes, and he's looking to end it, you know? And it's like, what's that, Ty?
Starting point is 01:42:24 Well, I was just going to say, I mean mean like you mentioned guys getting slept a lot of times in the UFC You know like a guy get clipped and then they'll take a couple off, you know And then like they'll call the fight and you can tell the other guy he's not he's like he's still there But he might be a little bit out of it to puria. He's he's knocking these guys in the next week I mean, he's he's knocking these folks heads off every single time. He's he's one impression son of a bitch. He really is. Is he as impressive as senior? You think so? Well, he's got a he's got a ways to go to still kind of get to that point. But he's certainly on that trajectory. All right. As we wait or potentially not have Ilya to purr
Starting point is 01:42:57 you. We like say, Hey, you're a great fighter, brother. We still like we don't know why. Big fan, we don't hate you. Box off. Yeah, absolutely. We'd love to watch you. I guess, it was, they did like a numbers check whenever they were asking if we would like you to come on the show. What are the numbers for your show, just so we know? People still ask that? What do you say? We haven't been asked that in a long time.
Starting point is 01:43:21 It is something at the beginning stages of stuff that is like You know like is this worthy of our clients time, you know that type of shit That's kind of a part of the digital world and at all We haven't been asked that a long time and I enjoyed the trip down memory lane of when we used to have to like do That and stuff so it's nice to know and also feels like he's probably just locked in Yeah, oh yeah, I just people just locked in hey, you know, this guy's worried about knocking people out. This guy is worried about becoming the greatest of all time. He's been championed two different weight classes.
Starting point is 01:43:50 And you don't have time for your dumbass show. I'm like, respect, but that's kind of like your job to tell them, right? That's your whole thing. So that's the, it was awesome, though. Like, I really appreciated that. And I guess we kind of made the cut, but maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe, maybe that's not the case
Starting point is 01:44:05 We'll see. I don't know guys box office though. I will say box office So I appreciate that can't wait to watch him fight. He will knock your ass out though deal You serious? You see no you gotta watch the documentary. Have you seen I'm talking about you not necessarily Senior sorry, I put this on I embody. Okay. I Well have you seen the newest you and Dale? D-Bone did send it to me and like I said me and D-Bone let's just say we've put our swords down. I will not be counting calories. I will not be looking at how many bags of chips and how many Oreo sticks he eats this afternoon because he's a good boy. You guys doing the creamy sticks? Is he in there with his fingies?
Starting point is 01:44:44 Bone certainly is. Those making their way back to the office is certainly a move. Congrats to them coming out of the cave like they're Jesus Christ back into this place. And I will say there has been one or two people enjoying it in the entire office. Yeah, there's been a lot but no one that wants to say it out loud, but that's okay. Well, you know, once again, I can stand on business as I'll be I enjoy you going into that thing Oh, I was doing that this morning. It is you whipping that together. It's like Are they Oreo stick dunkers? Yeah exactly Yeah, it's awesome, but he makes an Oreo. He like you know we're doing it And then we're pressing it together things oozing out say it's one. It is like a little project
Starting point is 01:45:20 It's like a little craft, and I'll tell you I might have had one. I might have done one. I might have dabbed one in it. Sure. Sure. Good. It's fine. Anytime I come on too strong about something, you know, it's just kind of no matter what, I'm going to take some flack for it and people are going to...
Starting point is 01:45:35 That's not true. People are going to try and downplay it and that's okay. We're on your side with the mullet, the mustache. I think a lot of things you've come on strong for were on your side. Yeah. But those are... The leather jacket we're on is. Yeah, those are personal looks I mean like my my taste the things that I enjoy like yeah
Starting point is 01:45:50 It would be kind of screwed up and be a bad teammate if you guys were to tell me like hey You look stupid or that's a dumb mustache because that'd be a good teammate Oh, you got a good teammate would be saying if you look bad telling you look that's fair But I guess I'm more so saying like mole mustache. Those are undeniable things. Those are undeniable accessories. You're certainly. There's some bad ones. There's little rat skullets. You know, people that don't have it. Also the mustache, that thing. If it was to be lighter colored, I think it would look bad. I think you found your rig up there. That's what we're saying. Yeah, built for it. Some would say. I'm just saying when it comes to my food taste, if
Starting point is 01:46:26 I like something and I'm loud about it, chances are things are coming back on the other side. I mean, if it's fashion, you're not going to get the credibility or legitimacy for most things. Which I can accept. Foxxy says something though, we're probably going to buy into it. Have you seen what Foxxy looks like these days? He's been using Kurt Angle's protein powders. Oh, is Foxy put on 20 pounds of muscle? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:46:49 I don't think his body can do that, but his body has turned into muscle. I am the heaviest I've ever weighed. And speaking of Connor's clothing options, I actually have one rule in this office, and it's only with me and Connor rule number one, do not criticize anything I ever wear ever. Okay. That's our rule. That's our rule. Yeah, it's criticize anything I ever wear ever.
Starting point is 01:47:05 That's our rule. That's our rule. Yeah, it's just different styles. That's pretty good rule. Some people want to look like a hallmark card and some people just want to kind of hang out and be a normal person. The thing about Foxy is he is the mannequin at every store you walk into. That is literally the way his body is built.
Starting point is 01:47:21 D-Buts, same way. D-Buts can wait. Hey, give me what the mannequin. He's the Under Armour mannequin. Yeah, he's the Under Armour mannequin. Yeah, okay. Oh, that looks cool on that person. Thank you for doing the styling for me. I would take that sum of bitch right there. Foxy can do that in basically every single store. D-But, I assume you as well. So when Foxy walks in here, I just assume that a new New York fashion thing has dropped on a mannequin. Yeah. Foxy saw it. Holy shit, this guy looks so cool.
Starting point is 01:47:45 Always does. Abercrombie and Fitch really became your place there for a bit. Yeah, that's the go-to right now. It's really great. That Target, you name it, it's awesome. I would like to point out one other thing. Connor's wearing short sleeves,
Starting point is 01:47:55 so I think the office is in a good spot temperature-wise. So hot outside. Wore some short sleeves yesterday. I've learned that if I can get to 11, usually 11 is kind of the deciding factor where it either hey put a put a jacket on Connor or you know what let's just a little pissed off I'm not pissed off because you know just when talking about this type of stuff it is hot shit in this thing so cuz you
Starting point is 01:48:22 got to earn fire suit yeah. It's fire retardant. I said, you know, there's a chance I might combust into flames. And I was, you know, taking it to the cup pretty hard with Dale senior earlier. And I worked up a pretty good sweat doing that. It's hot in this thing. It is.
Starting point is 01:48:36 I, you know, today of all days, I'd say if you want to drop the temperature another 10 to 15 degrees, I'd be with it. Okay. I'll think about it. I'll be with it. Certainly Connor is the one in charge remember the thermostat. That is not true. We have found the proper temperature. It is a consistent hot outside so I think that has helped with maybe the inside but I'll tell you you walk outside then walk in here does feel cold in here. It's a nice little breeze that you get as soon as
Starting point is 01:49:02 you walk in here. The air conditioner is working great thank you to the air conditioning people also Thank you to Ohio governor who was not the one pitching for the banishment of flags being planted on fields in the state of Ohio some Politician in Ohio certainly was at one point I think that kind of got shooed away the Ohio governor though has approved a six hundred million dollar operation for a new Cleveland Brown State Congratulations the public's coming together with ownership and we're gonna make a brand new Cleveland area. Now obviously the current stadium is historic it's right
Starting point is 01:49:32 there on the lake it's very windy it's outside it's a football town the dog pound has been in there representing for a long long time during a lot of hard hard years for the Cleveland Browns. Now they're looking to innovate and looking to move forward. AJ, how do Ohioans feel about this? And how do you think this will go over in the Cleveland area? Because I heard there was a lot of arguments on what this would be.
Starting point is 01:49:54 Yeah, I mean, people, I think, are kind of torn about this. They love where they're at on the lake and everything. Is that the airport in the background I see of this? Is that where this thing is located? You tell me, AJ. I'm looking. I feel like if there's airplanes and there's terminals behind it,
Starting point is 01:50:06 I don't know what that might be. But yeah, isn't every team, every owner's trying to build their own Patriots place? Like, hey, let's build it, let's own the real estate, let's own everything around it and let's just rake in all the money. I think it is a good thing for everybody, honestly. Yeah, I think it'll become a good business venture,
Starting point is 01:50:19 especially if the dog pound buys into it. You know, if the dog pound's like, this is cool. Like in Green Bay, the Packers have like a museum and a hall of fame and some other shit that you can come and come visit and make a trip out of it, even in the off season. If Cleveland does that, which we assume they will, with stores and everything else, hotels, places to stay,
Starting point is 01:50:37 it's like you can make your Cleveland Browns football team an actual like getaway as well, which is what all these teams are trying to do. Yeah, the number surprised me. I guess, I feel like it's much lower than I would expect for a new, and then it's a dome, right? Not retractable, so straight dome in Cleveland.
Starting point is 01:50:52 It's gonna cost way more than that, obviously, right? I wonder how much Haslam's given up. I assume that's the conversation. Yeah, but dome in Cleveland, completely opposite. Yeah, very, very, very weird. But at the same time, I mean, the shit that they've been doing been working so completely completely different there are some people who just love football indoors football in a controlled climate I'm a fan of you know the outdoor whether the elements
Starting point is 01:51:16 especially when you're playing in division like the Browns are but like I mean I like anytime like like AJ say anytime you you build a new facility you're gonna bring new people in you're going to boost the economy. Hopefully you get major events coming to Cleveland. So this is big for Cleveland. I think, yeah, the events that can be held there now at the Dome and all the things that can travel whenever the weather is not great, which in Cleveland, cities like Cleveland. Real fans definitely hate the Dome. Real fans hate the fact that the roof does not retract. If Pittsburgh was to put a dome on, the people would be very pissed. All these footballers would play footballers football weather. And then who knows what the concerts would become, who would, how would that would all
Starting point is 01:51:52 go. But in Cleveland, I feel like that was the biggest argument is football is supposed to be played outside. And then, you know, we'll have like a Thanksgiving or a November, December game where there's a blizzard and everybody's like this is football, this is awesome, this is awesome. And then in some of those cities, they eliminate the opportunity to have that and then people got like Buffalo was having this conversation as well with everything. It's like, what's feasible? What's what makes sense for all
Starting point is 01:52:18 year round? Do punters have a vote? Because if they do, they let's put a roof on this thing. Let's go ahead and put a roof on everything quarterbacks probably feel the same way That's a tough decision to make especially with how much money is being spent as we have one minute left in tie senior takes it away Well, I was just gonna say, you know, you talk about identity Obviously people want to be outside like this is to me this just kind of feels like what how would you feel if if Dale? Senior was you know driving the 24, you know rainbow sherbert car car. It'd just be weird. That's not his identity. That's a rainbow warrior. But whatever, cuz Jeff Gordon, respectfully so,
Starting point is 01:52:48 he's never gonna be on the levels of Dale Senior. You know that, I know you're Jeff Gordon. But I was just gonna say, especially when you're playing in that division, you're going inside. That's a massive advantage to a team that has Lamar Jackson as their quarterback, and Joe Burrow. Whereas you're playing in the elements late in the season, you might mitigate a little bit what those guys do,
Starting point is 01:53:06 not so much anymore playing inside of Ducks. That's a good call, senior. Any message for the fans watching on TV as we head into digital here? Yeah, pretty simple. Fourth of July weekend, coming up. Praise Dale, raise hell, baby. You really don't need anything else.
Starting point is 01:53:19 USA all the way. God bless America. all the way. God bless America. You nailed it. Thank you. How do you think, how do you think the Earnhardt family is gonna react to how well you did today? To be quite fair I have no idea. I'd hope that they would they would. The second photo if we could pull that up I think they'd probably be a little bit more. I think I think you're right I think you see the first photo you're thinking who is this fat slob and what's this guy doing? Dressed like my papa, you know or my brother or you know, whatever the cat my god My god a lot of people saying that as well, but I don't know
Starting point is 01:54:01 I hope that they understand this comes from the deepest part of my heart and it's the you know most personal homage I could give to the Earnhardt family and the documentary and the documentary obviously it was incredible again I can nice reminder I think right don't you think that's what it was well because you know like I I vividly remember no bullshit going to school following when Dale Sr. died in the Daytona 500. Like, I still remember everything about that. I want to say I actually wrote a story in my fifth grade newspaper about that.
Starting point is 01:54:36 So to be able to kind of go back and relive that when I'm an adult now all these years later, like, it is cool because he was a god damn American icon and I think people have forgotten that as The years kind of go on and on and NASCAR has kind of become what it's become And I think I saw a lot of like the hardcore fans were saying, you know Like back when when Dale senior was running the roost like that's when racing was racing and that's when NASCAR was NASCAR Now it's a little bit more commodified and you got the Joey Logano's bitching about He bitches about everything, you know He acts like he's a tough guy and then you get one of these guys back in the day
Starting point is 01:55:12 Dale senior would have got out of the car and been like alright punk I'm gonna fucking knock your teeth out and then we'll see if you're gonna be bitching and flapping those gums a bunch But nobody's really doing that anymore, you know like that Roddy Kyle Bush. Well, yeah, I know KY still wear but the problem with KY is the way his cars running right now You can't really be swinging on guys I got a cow meal. Yeah. Yeah Yeah, the the chicken tender combo with the biscuit and the mac and cheese and the the green beans It's delicious
Starting point is 01:55:42 but you can't really be calling guys out and swinging on guys when they're finished when they're getting top fives and You're finishing, you know in the 20s because you're Not his fault car just ain't built for it You know, but I think that like I said, you know There just ain't a lot of guys like senior out there running today and I just wish there were so anyone who is a big NASCAR Fan if you haven't watched it check out the Dale the senior documentary you have to and it's right there on Amazon exactly harder NASCAR seasons happening right now, right? They had a race on Sunday I think that was like a very good race from what I've been told because anytime a good race happens in NASCAR
Starting point is 01:56:16 I'll get the NASCAR Twitter will be like hey Hey, hey, I saw that as well. They called it like maybe the greatest race in NASCAR history is what I saw. On Sunday, yes. I was getting a lot of those tweets as well. And I think they posted a picture from like a movie, what like a finish would look like in a movie. I think there was potentially a winner
Starting point is 01:56:34 by like this much in NASCAR. Yeah, I didn't see, I didn't research it, but I just saw the tweets. I read all the tweets and said, all right, NASCAR at a weekend. And then I, that's all me. I think somebody got traded. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:56:46 Tell me that. It's kind of how it works. Jaydon Ramsey got traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Wait a minute, NASCAR. Oh yeah. And then I just got distracted. You know, that is, that's a hundred percent on me. NASCAR's in the middle of their season.
Starting point is 01:56:56 F1 driving around courses. Yep. Silverstone, British Grand Prix this weekend. IndyCar, what's going on with IndyCar? I don't think they do that anymore. Brad Pitt's a big fan of it. Yeah, no, I thought they're still going. Yeah, Brad Pitt was looking forward a couple weeks ago.
Starting point is 01:57:10 Yeah, Brad Pitt said he started watching F1, I think is how he got into it. Then he started watching Indy car and he said, that's... I love that. Now that's open wheel. That's what he said. Did you hear him say that? He did say that.
Starting point is 01:57:22 He was literally just driving to McLaren last week. Yeah, but that's for the f1. The movie he wasn't don't be a mark. You know, I am for Mark. I'm getting into it. I'm getting into it. He did. Once you watch this movie, you have great respect for you'll see why it's the pinnacle. For Brad Pitt, he is the pinnacle. We have respect. We have respect for f1. It's I think it's a pinnacle. For Brad Pitt, he is the pinnacle. We have respect. We have respect for F1. I think it's a spectacle, a festival. You gotta understand.
Starting point is 01:57:50 It's not about the race. The reaction stuff that the drivers do is super impressive. When they were in Miami, the driver with Tyree Kill, they did it and the driver was so much better, reaction time-wise. Have respect for the drivers. It's just considering it racing is hard to consider because they don't do the passing or anything.
Starting point is 01:58:10 Like NASCAR, the reason NASCAR was elected this weekend, the finish. Yeah, I think it was three wide. I think it was either three wide or four wide. You know? There's actually terms like the three wide, we're going full ride around that. That's the conversation about racing.
Starting point is 01:58:23 We don't know enough about racing to do a Time mic because he's obviously been in it tones family watched NASCAR. I believe grown up people races this weekend So I did not though. I did not grow up watching racing or anything like that I get out here to Indianapolis though lottery city dirt track. We're talking NASCAR coming here Indy car obviously has its home here So I've got a chance to be around the race community Three wide four wide. They're like, Hey, he's not scared to go. Like that is the part of like racing. Like that is the taking the shot, doing the thing, setting up a move, like all those types of shit. I feel like are what I've understood racing
Starting point is 01:58:56 it. Then I watched it F1 race at Monaco and it's literally there. Yes, that's the way they're parading around. I'm like, all right, race to what? All right, all right. But I enjoy and respect the I'm like, all right. Race to what? All right. All right. But I enjoy and respect the spectacle. Like who they get to go to the races, how it is covered. I appreciate it. City setups.
Starting point is 01:59:12 Yeah. Like the on location shit that's going. Like I respect the festival that is F1 because everybody's trying to get something like that. Just the on track stuff from what I've seen thus far is tough for me to be like, okay. You know? I mean, I don't know how it is in the other, like NASCAR and Indy, but like going to the F1, it's only, let's say a handful of cars
Starting point is 01:59:33 that have a real shot to win it, right? So that's the thing. So out of those cars for this past week, after the first five laps, you knew it was gonna be a battle upfront with the two McLaren races. And both of those drivers are the top two drivers for the championship. So one of those guys will most likely come out on top.
Starting point is 01:59:49 Max Verstappen got knocked out on the opening turn, actually. OK, so they crash? They definitely crash. Or how? Just run into each other's back like this? Real racing. You slip on like a banana, like drive over a banana. It's real fucking it ain't rubbing it right. Real racing. Just slip on like a banana? Drive over a banana? It ain't rubbing and racing like that.
Starting point is 02:00:08 Somebody hits a blue shell up there, man. Or stop and cut his one. You're not getting what you're getting in NASCAR. Let's go back to 86. We got the pass in the grass with Dale. Someone nudges his back end. And he has to go inside the infield. Is he going to spin out like a lot of these guys in F1?
Starting point is 02:00:24 Just, well, I guess my day is done. No, what he does is he has to go inside the infield and is he gonna spin out like a lot of these guys in f1 Just well, I guess my day's done No What he does is he passes in the grass holds on to the lead wins a race You're not getting that kind of stuff in that form They were passing the grass for the pass in the grass for Dale Earnhardt. And what are you guys doing? Oh See that's racing brother and it is legal and everywhere but f1 rules the regulation with that being said I watched this f1 movie with an open mind
Starting point is 02:00:46 And I assume brad pitt will win me over. I wanted to rob people whenever he was in oceans 11 because how cool he looked certainly Yeah, he can really Sonny hazel getcha couple superstars in that cast too the uh, what's the dude from dune havey are Barred down. Yeah, he's a stout country for old men. So do you think like Clooney pit Glenn Powell walk into a room? Do you think there is like a? Hierarchy like we're too attractive type conversation. Do you think like We're too good looking to be here you think you think they're trying to alpha each other to like ah he is he is Do you think they are I think they I think they tear themselves in there
Starting point is 02:01:25 And they're more so like walking over like hey We did it look at us, you know our mirrors are better than everybody fucking else. Hey, you're one good-looking guy Good to meet me for generations there, too Yeah, so you think Brad Pitt and Glenn Powell are kind of like is there torch passing happening there? Not quite yet a mentor program. It's like a mentorship still spinning the f1 movie. Yes He so yeah, he is the f1 movie was actually the highest gross, you know, the highest purse of his career He got paid more to do the f1 movie than any other movies got so he's maybe hitting the prime right? Yeah Yeah, it was like 250 300 million so a lot of money, but they know. You said he gets like points, right?
Starting point is 02:02:05 You would assume. I would assume so, but they also know, you know, a movie like F1, the international market is going to do a lot for that movie. It's going to make a lot of money overseas as well. So yeah, let's just say Bill Pitt's doing just fine. Ladies and gentlemen, massive announcement. Tonight, it's the commissioner's cup.
Starting point is 02:02:24 Here we go that's tonight that's tonight tonight that's right 8 p.m. prime video commissioner cup Kathy Engelberg the commissioner of the W called the Indiana Fever I believe yesterday two days ago to congratulate Caitlin Clark on being named the captain one of the captains of the WNBA All-Star game. She was voted ninth at guard by her peers in the WNBA. Number one by the fans, I believe number three by meteor coaches or something like that. So the players still got a lot of love
Starting point is 02:02:55 for Caitlin Clark, obviously. That's a big talking point on the internet right now for everybody telling Caitlin Clark she needs to leave the W and go start her own league. Beast who tried to do it with three on three down there. Okay, she got investors, got a lot of money. Maybe that'll be successful. Maybe that'll be able to pay.
Starting point is 02:03:09 A lot of people are saying, Caitlin, you need to get out of this ungrateful league. Okay, and you need to just go start your own shit because you are the needle mover. Now I do not believe that because I believe that the Indiana Fever are great for Indianapolis. But anytime things like these polls or these votes come out,
Starting point is 02:03:23 it justifies everybody saying, they don't trust or believe in Caitlin, they don't like that Caitlin is the face of the league, which let's not get it twisted, she certainly is. Now the OG fans of the WNBA don't necessarily love that because it's been 20 plus years of building up the league and building up everything. And then all of a sudden, Caitlin Clark comes in out of Iowa, a lot of new fans come, a lot of new fans not necessarily welcomed as quickly as I think some people would think,
Starting point is 02:03:47 but that's any type of business that happens. Happened to me, college football, I go in that world, the old school college football people hated my fucking guts. I mean, I'm not saying I'm Caitlin Clark, but I'm just saying they like to take ownership over the thing that they love. So any change or anything new to what they love, they're obviously gonna push against it. So I think Caitlin Clark needs to what they love, they're obviously going to push against it.
Starting point is 02:04:05 So I think Caitlin Clark needs to stay the course. I think it's only a matter of time before everybody understands. I think we need her to get healthy and just like she told Cathy, we need to get that dub in the Commissioner's Cup, which is Cathy Engelbert's Cup. She is the Commissioner of the WNBA. So I'm pumped for the fever. Is Caitlin playing? That's the question. I don't know. Probably not. Being an 8. a half point dog you'd imagine she's not right Minnesota links current champs No Liberty or current champ. Yes. Yes. Yeah links are very good. Yeah, they have Call your favorite to win every you can okay. Well, good luck to all parties If Caitlin plays obviously that would be
Starting point is 02:04:42 Breaking news one second ago. Caitlin is out. Oh All right, let's take our graphic off there But their graphic up. Yep. There it is. Okay, what if they still win? They will they go to good team Kelsey Mitch could go off again Commissioner cup. Oh Kelsey Mitchell. This does feel like a big Kelsey Mitchell game. She'll play well Yeah, I mean Megan to the finals pretty Pretty awesome. They needed their basers dude. They're fighting for a playoff spot right now. What do you mean? It's the Indiana Fever. Boston can go off. I think they're in eighth or ninth. Aliyah can go especially if they play.
Starting point is 02:05:16 Stephanie will have a team coach Stephanie will have a team ready to go. They're in eighth or ninth. How many teams are there? I have no idea how many teams there are but I know 8 makes playoffs I think. I think they're 15 now because they added the Valkyrie. Listen, I understand the MLS let Lou Messi not make the playoffs. Okay, I understand that. The NBA created these bubble games. The NBA is like, you know what, actually we can get a playing game. We can, because they're trying to get their.
Starting point is 02:05:43 Zion. They're trying to, it was all For Zion. Yeah We from playoffs we need we need that do you imagine Caitlin not making the playoffs for the WNBA? Remember what happened last year whenever they got out of the playoffs. That would not be good Look for Kathy Engelbert the commissioner to bit. We're gonna have a super duper play it open the commissioner to bit we're gonna have a super duper play in open to get into the playoffs. I think this is a motivator. Ben voted ninth because Ty Reese when he got voted most overrated. Got a little hate for Indiana. Fire up a little bit more. I mean she's already fired. New shoes. Eight teams
Starting point is 02:06:20 make the playoffs so they're right on that bubble. Her shoes sold out the Kobe's last in a minute sick sick She is electrifying when she's playing. Oh, yeah box office. She's got a stick. Get healthy, man You know, yeah near stay healthy meet her this city of Indianapolis needs her Yeah, every team that the fever play against need her ticket prices whenever she's playing Hello ticket prices whenever she's playing. Hello. Ticket prices whenever she's not playing. Goodbye. They're talking about expansion, adding teams. I watched Vibe Check yesterday with L. Duncan hosting. It was on Disney Plus I believe. They talked about the expansion teams. They talked about the
Starting point is 02:06:57 WNBA All-Star teams. They had it all kind of like in there. If the WNBA with Caitlin's help, assistance, obviously can actually like go go. Why not the Indiana fever being the drive? Be dope. All star games here. I know you haven't been in the, you know, regular folks airport in a while, but sweet basketball court out there. Really? You open? Oh, yeah. I mean, if it was full court, same as last year, they don't let you hoop on it. Yeah, no, I'm trying to get a couple buckets.
Starting point is 02:07:25 There's a plastic shield on the bucket. Oh, so nobody can make it, you gotta try harder. Yeah. They don't want anybody getting too cocky in there. No. Smart. Can you imagine somebody catching fire in the middle of the airport?
Starting point is 02:07:35 Oh, that's quite a scene. Yes, it would. Especially in an airport. Shh, shh, shh, shh. They don't want a six-year-old who's tearing their Achilles. That's what they don't want. Don't give a shit about that.
Starting point is 02:07:43 Jumped up, up fake and going up for a layup. Well, if they sue them, do one like breathe bang. So I've seen you hit a nasty jab step before we were live Here it is That guy's up in the air he's gone sunglasses on I don't know how you saw the hoop yeah Go fast, baby. The audio is there either but I don't know how you saw the hoop. He liked to go fast, baby. The audio isn't there either, but when he gathers, you can hear him go, senior.
Starting point is 02:08:09 And then he lays it in. It was right on his bucket. See, you're to the cup. To the cup. That docuseries really inspired you. It did. It did. What are you going to do?
Starting point is 02:08:24 Going to watch it later? You didn't dump your pants today? No. You paid your respects? Mm-hmm. Pretty good day. Pretty damn good. When did it become the plan, Ty?
Starting point is 02:08:32 When did this become the plan to be Ty Senior? Like, what time? When you didn't feel like changing, getting out of bed this morning. Exactly. Is that why? I didn't shower this morning getting out of bed. You know, and I had the sunglasses on already,
Starting point is 02:08:44 obviously the mustache and it and whatnot So yeah, this is kind of just like you know if I can you know bite off Tony earlier to Glenn Powell Sometimes if you feel it you just chase it and I went really well, too did it He's in a different, you know different my frame different movie They might have a new one for this upcoming and something that had to be done, but boy did he fucking hate that. It feels like that's an OHIO situation. Yeah, for sure. For like AJ.
Starting point is 02:09:11 Yeah. The amount of, if you can feel it, to Glenn Pals. I figured he's probably never heard that before. You had to do it. I mean, I had the straw hat on. I mean, the worst part was that Tony just hit him with the, if you can feel it, and all he got in return was chasing you chasing buddy yep I get it in a Scottish accent over here all the time
Starting point is 02:09:29 yeah yeah I appreciate you watching twister but we get it basically I love but I hope I never see him again no you need to run that back we need a better interaction there. Nope. Yeah, because I think we'll gas it up. We'll make sure you get a good one. Exactly, yeah. That's why I will walk the other way.
Starting point is 02:09:51 No, in a good way we'll gas it up. Not in a bad way. We need to find him somewhere where you can somehow get about six to eight whiskies in him. And then you run that back and he's going to scream, chase it at the top of his lungs. That's what I'm saying. He needs to be more relaxed atmosphere. Yeah. You know he's in the middle of running man running. He's tired as shit. Yeah he was. Needs to be hanging off a ramp you know.
Starting point is 02:10:11 Yeah with your hat on. Yeah. And then you just so happen to be on the side of the road just like you were in the national championship whatever you wanted or in the playoffs when you wanted that high five and they left you hanging. This time you're just gonna poke your head out he's gonna be hanging off a ramp truck and you're gonna say now's the time bud're just gonna poke your head out he's gonna be hanging off a ram truck and you're gonna say now's the time but if you can feel it and then he's gonna give you a big one actually you're gonna get that full moment yeah maybe for sure the photo probably not your head poking out like this and him what a moment that's gonna be for you we
Starting point is 02:10:41 practice one time it didn't go well. Yeah. I am not doing that. Shooter shoot. Come on. The second time's what's going on. Practice better. Yeah. We have some breaking news. Um, Julie van Lou won gold in a Euro basket for team Belgium.
Starting point is 02:10:58 And then, uh, she flies back to United States, report to Valkyries. What is this? Gumpy. People are pissed off because she went and played for Belgium. She's flying back after they won, missed the celebration. I guess she got released while she was on the flight back to the Valkyries. She got released. Okay.
Starting point is 02:11:15 Can you elaborate more on who this person is and what we are, uh, why we'd be upset that she played with Belgium? She's allegedly very good. And she's from Belgium. She's allegedly very good and she's from Belgium Bring her here. She plays for Golden State Valkyries. Oh So she left the middle of the WNBA season went over there played for Belgium Yeah, a one came back they cut her on the flight the Valkyries cutter. Yeah, she's released Indiana fever
Starting point is 02:11:41 That's what I'm saying. Yeah. Well, do you want some should miss a game here? There's no more it does Belgium have any more games throughout the WMD issues? No, they just won it. She's champion. Okay, so she's got no more Belgium obligations There come on out to Indiana. True. She a fighter we can use another fighter Sophie hell, yeah You see her she won up to 700,000 Instagram followers. These are tick tock followers. They said after, after one night overnight. I love that the W's doing this. They cut a TJ's sister, Megan McConnell, after she got hurt. That doesn't feel right. It's kind of throw league.
Starting point is 02:12:18 They're also at a stage where I think they're, they need to start turning that thing up a little bit business wise. I think the time is now. Good luck to them. Indianapolis All-Star Game. Ty will be there. Connor will be there. Gumpies go in there. Actually, I think we will have boots on the ground here in Indianapolis at the W's All-Star
Starting point is 02:12:34 Game. We might be out of town as a group. Oh, it's the show somewhere? Yeah. Okay. We will find that out. If not, we will have boots on the ground for sure for the All-Star Game. All right, AJ.
Starting point is 02:12:44 I hope you have a phenomenal summer Tuesday. We're going to get out of here. Shout out on the ground for sure for the all-star game all right AJ I hope you have a phenomenal summer Tuesday we're gonna get out of here shout to the commissioner stopping by shout to Q Rich stopping by thanks to Glenn Powell thought we had the exclusive on the trailer turns out we did not just three hours ahead of time still want to interview Glenn still happy with how everything went do you guys want the exclusive trailer and a Glenn Powell thing? I think so. What an honor. Holy shit. When did you find out it was running? At 9 you saw it pop up?
Starting point is 02:13:13 Yesterday we found out it was going to go at 9am. So I immediately think, okay so we're dropping this at 8am then. That's my immediate thought. Just as a bingo. Alright you guys are going to 9am, sweet. Sweet. We were told this can be exclusive We're gonna go to 8 a.m. Then we watched it and we thought to ourselves Let's let the running man do whatever the fuck they want to do Feels like they've taken care of our guy Glenn Powell. Mm-hmm, and it feels like this movie is gonna be amazing Yeah, so I'm happy as hell we got a chance to do it. But we it was under the terms of
Starting point is 02:13:44 Exclusive trailer with quite good sell by them if they would have just said Glenn Powell. We would have said you got it sure Exclusive trailer that trailer was sick. Great. Yeah good cast Is that we had some of that Tom Cruise stuff too? I guess and Netflix gave us some exclusive and that's a cool thing if people just want to give us exclusive Yeah, how do we quarterback this week? Yeah, it was like two and a half, three minutes long. That was awesome. Lions fans loved it. I was about to say, if I was a Lions fan or a golf fan,
Starting point is 02:14:10 like that would be it. That's a cool opportunity for us though to get that. Cause normally if we would have done that in the past, we would have got strikes and sued by all these people. Correct. Sued, I would have got sued by these people. One of the reasons why I wanted to license my show through a network is because like the amount of like
Starting point is 02:14:28 bullshit on the back end. Hey, photo, which was on somebody else's tweet was my, so you own this, this, this is worth this. It's like, yes, it'd be nice to have a little backup, you know, in this entire thing. So that's been good. That type of opportunity is amazing that we've gotten to this point where we're able
Starting point is 02:14:44 to just run a fucking Paramount movies trailer on our shit. Tom Cruise's unseen shit on our show. That's outrageous. Crazy. It's a big deal, man. Cause that's like, that's those people's lives. Like all of that.
Starting point is 02:14:56 That's riding on it. And just to speak from the other side of it, like I know what it used to be like if we were to accidentally put some of this shit out, how much they value, like the plan and where it goes how it goes when it goes who? Is a lot of go it's like i've gotten some hilarious letters from people telling me that I need to fucking Immediately take down the picture of the video that we put up or i'm going to be sued for yada yada yada And it's like holy fuck did we know that there was was uh, so we just
Starting point is 02:15:24 All right, we're gonna power on, I guess. We'll see you in court. And then we get a real one. Shout out to Brett Favre. Shout out to Brett Favre. Hey, we'll never forget that. Nope. How about him coming out with Morgan Wall and-
Starting point is 02:15:37 Yeah. Yeah. Amazing. Good poppin' Wisconsin. Without a doubt, you hear Brett say, boy, I'm quite homecoming. Drake was with him in Houston. People are saying his abs. Yeah, it's just-
Starting point is 02:15:50 What's going on with that? I think he just does only abs. Yeah. What happened? How come nobody brings that up? What if he's fully focused on abs all the time? Maybe use that gimmick with the- No.
Starting point is 02:16:03 The shock strap. Yeah, you're having them? Yeah, 24-7. Even when you're not doing abs? Yeah, uh, no shock. You're having them. Yeah. Oh, so you're not doing it. Yeah. Just because usually, you know, if you've got shredded, like you got to check shoulders, arms, like Rick Flur. And all kinds of fits.
Starting point is 02:16:13 Like who? TZP, Rick Flur. But, uh, him and, uh, yeah, that was, that was very interesting. The Drake photo? Yeah. Yeah. He looked, the abs looked very jacked right
Starting point is 02:16:25 very very very jacked a lot of people are saying they were fake do they have ab oh yeah surgeries is that right I know I didn't know that was great yeah what you say can you spray tan them on a little bit yeah with shading I think you can shade it a little bit But these looked I mean there's like, you know on the side there Yeah, it's real. I think he's just doing a lot of abs. Everybody needs to just get off of Drake's abs. Hey Drake Good work. It's paid off brother. It's paid off
Starting point is 02:17:01 Morgan Wallins walkouts continue to be one of the biggest stories of all of country music. How about his tour? Just stadium after stadium after stadium after stadium. That ball's doing. This is kind of what everybody's into right now. Has Wiz Khalifa started his big tour yet? I believe so, actually. Jelly Roll and Post Malone are hitting stadiums around right now. I think Barton McCollum's doing his tour right now.
Starting point is 02:17:20 Jelly Roll's in Ohio. They were. I think the twenty first. Played Ohio Stadium. Big deal. He did like Buckeye Country Superfest. He was the main dude. Yeah, it's a big deal. Yeah, I mean, right now is tour season for all these guys.
Starting point is 02:17:31 Let's support the shit out of them and get some tickets on SeatGeek for all these concerts. Obviously SeatGeek is the greatest ticket buying platform on planet earth and The Moon! That's right, when, now I've heard we got somebody on the moon right now, but when they start hosting live events on the moon There will only be one app that you should buy the ticket for that event and that would be our friends at Seakeek Seakeek gives you
Starting point is 02:17:51 What you think you're getting you don't get catfish and also they kind of score all the tickets So you you know if you're getting robbed or not One to ten red dot means bad ticket can get it for a better price somewhere else on the internet good means Like six to seven to ten green light will be in there. Hey, this is a good price good ticket You know, they got your back and right now use promo code Pat P a T That's it B a T. Okay. Okay, let's get $30 off any ticket You can be a return customer or a new user you're alive. But are you living to live this summer?
Starting point is 02:18:24 Go see a show go sing along go make a memory with our friends at be a return customer or a new user. You're alive but are you living? Go live this summer. Go see a show. Go sing along. Go make a memory with our friends at SeatGeek. What a time. What a time. Restrictions apply to the $30 off thing. If the ticket's less than 30 bucks, you're probably not going to get 30 bucks off. SeatGeek's not going to owe you money. No. No. It's not good business. Not the way it works. But if you're buying tickets to something awesome, which I think you should do, give them as a gift. Maybe go for yourself. You don't have to be with anybody. Shout out to Gumpy. Gumpy's been going to these super duper world club cup games all by himself out there living his life. Use SeatGig for the Inter Miami game on Saturday.
Starting point is 02:18:56 Probably use it again this Saturday for PSG and Bayern Munich in Atlanta. PSG just kind of smacked around Inter Miami, huh? They got outclassed out there in Atlanta. Yeah, they are no joke. They won the Champions League Final five nothing against Inter Milan. So they kind of beat the shit out of everybody this year. So PSG is the one who's going to win the hundred million dollars Super Duper FIFA club. They're favored right now. But this game against Bayern could be the game of the tournament after Al Halal, a team from Saudi knocked off Man City. I saw Al Halal come in and really do it. They've paid a lot of money to a lot of their players, but Saudi Arabian Soccer League obviously feels legitimized after a big time win like this?
Starting point is 02:19:34 Yes, and allegedly each player got five million dollars for winning that game. Okay, so that's just one game. And then you look at the teams that were like Auckland that were in this tournament. They had guys that were driving dump trucks on Tuesday, coming to Cincinnati on Thursday, playing goalie, giving up 10 goals. So certainly a variety of teams playing in this super duper cup,
Starting point is 02:19:54 but it's gotten good as it's gotten later on, right, Gump? Yeah, we got Real Madrid and Juventus kicking off at three. That should be a banger as well. All of these are in America? Yes, sir. Okay, so these teams are actually coming over here. Full squads, because normally whenever these teams go on tour in the United States of America,
Starting point is 02:20:08 it's the backups, it's maybe the youth academies, the super fans get a chance to come take a picture that they were at one of these games. Oh, Juventus is playing in Pittsburgh, I'll go check it out, none of the stars play. Man City's playing in Phoenix, I'll go check it out, none of the stars play. Stars are actually playing in this, it feels like, right?
Starting point is 02:20:22 Yeah, because it's too much money. Team wins $100 million dollars that buys you probably three top-tier players to join your team for the start of the season in Europe. So we like this. It's it's been awesome I know a lot of the games haven't been filled but I would argue anywhere in any country some of these teams wouldn't have any fans at some of these games. Alright cool we're really looking forward to that. How about Gold Cup? How about the Gold Cup? America's about to win this entire thing? Yeah, we got Wednesday night USA and Mexico,
Starting point is 02:20:48 both big favorites. So we're looking at probably if everything goes as planned, Sunday night, Mexico, USA, Sunday night in Houston. Who does USA have? They have Guatemala. Okay, plus 800 for Guatemala to win. We're minus 380. We should win that one.
Starting point is 02:21:04 But soccer is an interesting thing. This could be 0-0 until the 89th minute. And then Guatemala steals one. Didn't like the way we finished the second half. Loved the way we finished the game though for the US boys in the last round against Costa Rica. And then Mexico takes on obviously Honduras. And Honduras, not a bad squad. They're better than Guatemala. They're about the same. Mexico's still heavy favorite to win this thing right now. Mexico, United States would be in Houston? Yep, Sunday night, 7 o'clock. Actually 25th gold cup in a row USA has made at least the semi-finals.
Starting point is 02:21:37 You are sick. Congratulations. You are sick. Have we won it? Yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah, they win it a lot. Jesus.
Starting point is 02:21:43 Yeah, and it's usually played by our, not our top guys. Like normally our top guys take off the gold cup. Like this is kind of something where you're looking for like the next batch of maybe U.S. guys. Obviously it was a big storyline this year because we're preparing for a world cup. We got a new coach and Christian Policic, our guy, either didn't want to play in the pre-games,
Starting point is 02:22:04 the warmup games, but did say he wanted to play in the gold cup to get with the team. Paunch, new coach, said, don't worry about it. We want full commitment or no commitment. We're just going to build this team and get ready for the world cup. Now we got this younger group of guys, younger group of lads, who nobody really knew about at the beginning of this tournament. And now they're kind of peacocking a little bit, these dudes. Got a lot of swagger, got a lot of moxie. Paunch is also yelling into the camera. It's like the USA team is maybe finding what we should be, which is a fiery, scrappy, gritty, electrifying bunch. Is that not accurate? Yeah, if they can rally around and win this, it'd be huge.
Starting point is 02:22:35 Cause there was a bullshit story, and I should have brought this up yesterday, about Saturday night, eight o'clock, some guy put out a story that Pochettino took an interview with Brentford, an English team, and it was complete bullshit. So they asked Pochettino about it. He said, I never took an interview. He turned out an interview with Tottenham, who he used to coach. So I think that's why that was such a massive moment, why he did that to the camera. And the boys are really rallying around him right now. I like them. I've liked them since the beginning. Like even, and we learned of Christian Polisic's story later on, but even the story of him saying we don't want you then if
Starting point is 02:23:10 you don't want to be here, that was kind of how it was rolled out at the beginning is like Christian Polisic didn't want to do this and Ponce said cool I don't want you to do it. Christian Polisic actually did want to play but didn't want to do all the like the training I think because he's just coming out of two leagues leading up to it. So he wanted a breather I think which has happened in the past especially with the gold cup but I love that Paunch was trying to find his team and he's had success in the past. It's like what we've been doing hasn't been working. If we can add some dogs maybe we win this thing. Shot to soccer we might have it. We might have the guy and then the goalie freeze. Yes he's always that good I mean has he always been a stud because I watched the majority of this game
Starting point is 02:23:46 and he was awesome. So he's six and one now, I believe, in penalties. Now that was his first international penalty, but I guess in the league that he's in, he's done six prior and he was four and one or five and one, I forget what it was, going into this night that made the stat. And then he came out afterwards,
Starting point is 02:24:00 we're like, penalties are kind of my thing. You know, it was kind of, it was kind of my game. Six foot four, has a good read on people seemingly a dog and I think America has a little bit more bite on this team than we've had in the past we had too much razzle dazzle too much pizzazz. Diego Luna absolute dog he kind of sets the tone in the middle all the young lads. What's that? They stop conceding. Yeah they concede like a motherfucker sometimes. It's just, it's like, dude, hey, no more conceding.
Starting point is 02:24:30 I saw somebody send a text into the group saying all they do is concede. Bruce, what did you mean by that? Whenever you said USA just concedes all the time, so much conceding. I mean, across the pond, I think it's a pretty popular soccer term, to concede a goal to allow a goal Oh, I would like more United States clean. That means they meant to give it up. No
Starting point is 02:24:51 I just give up a goal is what conceding is that this game was to to going into fucking chewed out by the way Just so we understand that now two goals is a lot of goals in soccer. No, no, it is We we got a problem in the back end. I understand Matt Fries is a dog in the penalties. But, you know, our defensemen, our center backs and the like, we got to short things up. Maybe keep a clean sheet against
Starting point is 02:25:16 Guatemala here. I concede that your conceding comments are potentially accurate. Conceded again. Conceded again. There goes U.S. Soccer. They've conceded again. There goes US soccer. They've conceded again. Okay, he's got he's even got a little jingle about the entire thing. I don't know if I love that, but he's saying we need more from the boys on the back end is what he's saying. It sounds like and hopefully they get it tightened up as the gold cup semi-finals happen tomorrow night.
Starting point is 02:25:41 Yeah. Commissioner's cup tonight. fun fact about the gold cup Either Mexico or the US has won every single gold cup since 2002 suck it Honduras and Guatemala and Saudi Yeah, now true. That's right What's that AJ is Renato on he's not playing for the Saudi team in this this tournament? Saudi Arabia pal he plays on a Saudi and Saudi team though in a Saudi league On you start showing this FIFA thing and I'm thinking the Super Duper World Cup Gold Cup There's no I know but what aren't there guys on but other guys in this FIFA Super Cup that want to play in the other Super Duper World Cup? I think they are aren't they are they not playing in both these things because normally this would be an international break feels like it's going on at the same time
Starting point is 02:26:31 Yeah, I don't think there's any players in the FIFA Club World Cup in the gold. So are we talking about? I don't like the way you said yeah Western McKinney is playing for Juventus not United States in the gold cup right now. Yeah but Paunch said we don't care. Yeah. We don't want you. You don't want to play. It's our B team anyway. Okay so let's move to a different sport about cannibalism. You're talking about soccer right now with the Super Duper Club Cup and then the International Concave of Gold Cup. What's going on with the cross? You kind of dropped a little bit of a bomb there
Starting point is 02:27:02 yesterday. You sound like a journalist. You sound like a lacrosse journalist. Sure. You know, like from what I'm hearing from source says is that the future of lacrosse is not in a good spot, especially with where PLL is thinking about moving and where NLL currently exists. And then you even said there's a chance that NLL is just Canada and PLL is the way America operates in professional levels. Is there a chance they're gonna, what did mean by that? Is that real or we but yeah, no it is somebody that just learned about NLL I'm pretty bored. I'm pretty bummed out about that. It is it's definitely bad news I think is it definitely bad news or potential good news? I think it's definitely bad news Unless there's some sort of agreement which I doubt there will be
Starting point is 02:27:40 PLL signed with ESPN definitely helps PLL. I think if you are a PLL signed with ESPN definitely helps PLL. I think if you are a lacrosse player looking at the future of it You probably want to play in the PLL just because those NLL games aren't really getting broadcasted that much in America That's why it's become kind of split because the NLL is it's TSN Which is the Canadian kind of network and then obviously ESPN would be the United States network I'm not sure when it comes to pleasure probably Dale or saying Todd senior Or you don't care
Starting point is 02:28:18 Little bit of bone gonna hold you above. Yeah At the end of the day if no matter when lacrosse is played if it's outside of July and August people are gonna have a hard time caring if the NLL is awesome and it is great in Canada but if it's played from you know December to April or May whenever it is no one's gonna watch and same with the PLL the PLL starts too early they start the week after when college across ends and that's when the NHL and NBA finals are kind of really picking up so they need to the PLL and both cross leagues they need to formake one and they need to play in July and August yeah well I don't I think they need they
Starting point is 02:28:56 can have a winner in a summer I think they can do that the reality of is we're not we're not gonna watch in the winter well We don't even watch the NBA. Yeah, but if NLL played on Tuesdays, Tuesday, Wednesday, I guess? It's NBA. In the winter, NBA, I'm pretty sure Wednesday nights are NBA on ESPN, but it's the NFL season. And the Wednesday night, if the choice during the winter is Wednesday night, NBA with, you
Starting point is 02:29:26 know, Cooper flag or LeBron and the Lakers and then the Redwoods versus the chaos, I just don't think. And I love the cross. Pretty easy choice. I love the cross. It's, it's just the reality of the situation is the open months and sports are July and August, and if you have a professional league and you want to, look at the big three, the big three,
Starting point is 02:29:47 they play all of July and August because they know that's when it's open. I'll tell you, I love the NLL though. Like I really enjoy the way their sport is. I enjoy what it is. I just, I fear that it's, it's like 3 PM or something. Yeah, like a matinee or a daytime game.
Starting point is 02:30:02 Yeah. I was thinking about that as well. No prime time games, but maybe in the morning. Maybe do a morning game. Yeah, I'd wake up and watch. That'd be cool. Yeah, well, wake up 8 AM, you know, games on. Why not?
Starting point is 02:30:15 Korean baseball. Get my coffee. Oh, you wouldn't. I just love how it's just one of us just sprinkle like, you care about cross. Most of us don't give a fuck. Yeah. Golf, soccer, most of us don't give a fuck. Yeah golf soccer most of your fuck care about it for I love it
Starting point is 02:30:26 Yeah We all care about fucking NASCAR Exactly This goes in Heavy junior will reach out to you. Okay, fucking line here. Oh No, oh Heavy junior will reach out to you. Okay fucking line here. Oh Shit short arm it maybe senior in your dreams tonight Nice hey boom great chain nuts Shout Foxy
Starting point is 02:30:58 We had him in the old office had to bring him back after you suggested yeah, it's just so much better I think you know the side and also feels like the hoop's bigger. I mean, you see that? Maybe that's me. Oh. Oh. Wait a minute. Oh.
Starting point is 02:31:20 Hey! Oh. Oh. I mean, wait a minute. Are we back? Yeah. Are we back? We were always chain net guys. Amen.
Starting point is 02:31:28 You're right. Holy hell. That's pretty far there. Yeah. That's pretty far there. That felt good coming out. I hit a drought there for a while, but it feels like with the chain that's back. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:31:37 We're all the way back. Boom. Thank you, Foxy. All right. Be a friend, tell a friend something nice. It might change your life. We're in this thing together. We're back tomorrow. Team all meet. Hey Hey great work in the back AJ great work today
Starting point is 02:31:48 Thank you, you too You're gonna ask me to expound upon it I don't know if you guys have seen Orca twerking. Did they write that out for a concert? Because there wasn't a lot of kids in the stands. No. The adults were into it though. And I saw some real twerking going on. I cried. If you guys had seen Orca twerking, I would have been like,
Starting point is 02:32:16 I'm not going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it.
Starting point is 02:32:24 I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going a concert? Cause I was looking, there wasn't a lot of kids in the stands. No. The adults were into it though. And I saw some real twerking going on. I cried. It felt like people were really doing, I didn't see a lot of dancing from Ying or Yang. I think he was kind of more of a stationary performer, but that run was awesome.
Starting point is 02:32:40 I'm thankful I was alive during all of that. Hell yeah. Let's have a Ying Yang twins afternoon. Boom. all of that. Hell yeah. Let's have a yin yang twins afternoon. Boom. Into the evening. Bingo. Let's remember that we're allowed to bring the juice like a little jaw on the east side, boys.
Starting point is 02:32:54 Okay? Let's have a day. We'll see you tomorrow. Team on me, team on three. One, two, three, team. Goodbye!
