Hello, beautiful people, and welcome to the story grounds of Canton, Ohio.
It's all of Fent Thursday.
This program starts now.
Football is absolutely magical, and today is the day that we could say that the NFL is officially kicking off its 2025 season.
Here we go.
Now today, just like many years in the past, this season will start right here at a place
that has been honoring legends since 1963.
This is the home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
It is raining, and we clearly don't have speakers for the crowd.
But what we do have is an excitement level beyond belief because football is back in our life
for real tonight.
Harbaal will be on one side line.
MCDC will be on the other.
And I believe we have a little bit of breaking news for the Detroit Lions fans.
Tonight, starting for the Detroit Lions, according to source, CIS.
Kyle Allen will be getting the start.
But we will be seeing Hendon Hooker from what we have been told.
Now, for the Chargers, we do not have any inside source.
CIS.
But as that information rolls out today, we will certainly keep everybody updated.
Tonight's game will not be littered with superstars.
It will not be the guys that we know on every.
single part of the team, but it will be two NFL helmets battling in front of a building
that celebrates greatness from beginning to end in a town that loves ball.
Loves ball.
We've only been able to be here for like the last 18, 20 hours or so, but as you drive
through this town, it literally emanates ball.
Everybody here loves ball.
Everybody's committed to the Hall of Fame.
And there's actually telephone pole wires that hold up that are two uprights.
field goals. This entire city
is committed to ball, and we're lucky to be
here. It's not just me, obviously.
It's obviously the boys.
The toxic table is here at Boston Corner.
I'll get it. Not bad.
They get it. And at Ty Schmidt.
Now, Ty Green Bay Packers, Sterling Sharp,
going into the Hall of Fame.
Congrats to him. We'll have a chance to chat with
most of this year's class. But the Hall of Fame,
beautiful thing. Lucky to be here.
cannot wait to walk through and see all the history of the greatest league on earth.
Yeah, without a doubt.
You know, we've talked about this a little bit.
I don't know if any of us.
I mean, I don't know if you guys have.
I know us three, we've never actually walked through and had a tour of the Hall of Fame.
It kind of seems like something.
If you're a fan of the NFL, you absolutely need to do, you know, at one point in your life.
So really looking forward to that.
Obviously, you know, all the fans out here braving the weather.
But let's be honest.
I mean, kicking off the NFL season, it's football weather.
Yeah, you're damn right.
football weather today and you know it was like a hundred and forty five degrees yesterday up there in
latrobe pennsylvania for the pittsburgh steelers training kit okay now fun fact that we
learned from jim president of the president of the president uh pro football hall of fame whenever
they were creating the pro football there's some of the answers here for sure yeah yes definitely some
injures here whenever they were going to create this hall of fame back in the 60s 1963 it was either
going to be placed in La Trobe, Pennsylvania, or it was going to be in Canton, Ohio.
So we just found that out this morning.
Very cool football trip that we have been on over the last two days, and obviously, you can't
come to this state without mentioning a man who's a former president of this state, a college
football national champion with the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Ladies and gentlemen, the all-time lady tackle for the Packers, AJ Hawk is there.
A.J. with his uncomfortable and awkward point at a random kid in the crowd.
Right here, this nice lady.
Not just a nice lady here. There's been people that have been here since like 6 a.m., 7 a.m.,
it's raining. We appreciate the hell out of you for doing this.
We would not have done that for this particular show, but we appreciate that you are doing as such.
The state of Ohio has been great to us. I feel a lot of kinship with the state of Ohio as
people that grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Obviously, I go to school at West Virginia.
These hills, these people, very similar.
Everybody loves ball, AJ.
I think that is one of the fabrics of the state of Ohio
and why the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Ohio seemingly makes the most sense.
Yeah, it makes sense, I think.
I mean, look at it like Ty said, this is football weather for people
that actually truly care about football, not casuals.
Yeah, they're here around the set, but I think they would be here either way
going around checking out the festivities because this truly is to start up.
Wow.
I can't really catch it through my earpiece on that way, but yeah, we got a couple good ones.
Yeah, there are people from all over, though.
I would imagine there's people, like, there's people from every NFL city here, don't you think?
I would imagine this weekend's so big for that.
Last night outside of the hotel, there was representatives getting autographs from every team.
People travel in here.
People do an annual trip out to the Hall of Fame.
I'm learning as we go.
This is my first time here other than whenever we played a game here, and it got canceled.
Sure.
Don't love that that happened.
Well, but it was awesome.
to only play four preseason games.
Not for me, but for the rest of the team.
I don't have to do shit in preseason.
I was just a punter.
With that being said, one of my teammates,
nine-year NFL vet.
One of the smartest guys of history of football.
Ladies and gentlemen, Derry Shea Ball in this year.
Debuts.
NFL football is kicking off a game tonight.
NFL helmets will be on a field tonight.
NFL uniforms will be on a field tonight.
Sunday night football with NBC will be calling a game tonight.
It feels like we made it, Dee Butch.
What a perfect time.
Yeah, your mic is it.
You know what it is? Hey, I don't want to say it, but you know, I'm not going to put that out there's Ohio.
You're back. You're back. Kind of, yeah. Okay, kind of. Oh, oh. Oh. It is Ohio.
East or east. I had a great time. In Ohio, had a great time last night, you know, at the hotel, we have some food and just seeing all the legends out there. And it's about the guys that are playing tonight. But it's more so about the four legends going in. What's that? What's the hell?
Sorry.
But, yeah, it's about the ledgers going to go down in immortality and football, man.
They put so much on the line.
I saw so many players, coaches, contributors walking around a hotel that I grew up looking up to, man.
So I'm excited about tonight.
And then obviously our future going forward.
We'll have Sunday after Sunday after Sunday after Sunday with football on the screen.
Okay, so there you just mentioned Sunday after Sunday after Sunday after Sunday.
That's all the way until February, right?
Yeah.
We did it.
Long time.
We did.
Zito found this pen in David Banker's office.
I guess he left it around.
This was former head of the Hall of Fame.
He has since moved on.
These big-ass pencils might be the best thing you could buy
at this Pro Football Hall of Fame.
But with that being said, the Mark store that is outside,
the merchant is here, the museum,
the hospitality of everybody that has worked
at this Pro Football Hall of Fame.
It's a lot of, I think it's like 90% people
that just live in this area.
A lot of pride, very thankful.
for everybody that comes in.
If you've not made a trip here,
I think this is something you have to do.
Legitimately, I think if you're a football fan,
I think this building right here,
we saw a cursive written letter from 1925
that had implications on how football would be run forever.
We saw the actual letter that was sent from Lamar Hunt
to Pete Roselle back whenever the AFL
was going to merge with the NFL or whatever it was.
And I'll tell you what, I don't know who he is,
but there's a guy named Larry
oh something
we don't know his name for a reason
he was from the AFL
he's the first thing
that Lamar Hunt talks about in this letter
to the Pete Roselle
need to get rid of this guy
okay I don't like what he's about
then down there number point number five in this letter
he says we need something like the Grey Cup
we need something like Wimbledon
we need something that's big
I have jokingly called it the Super Bowl
but we can obviously workshop that
in this letter from 19 whenever
60 something and then obviously
that would go on to become the biggest game
in the history of any league.
And it's like there's artifacts like that
from our league and from our game,
littered all over this building
that I didn't know existed
until they showed it to us earlier today.
I saw my draft card,
the one that was actually turned in
whenever I got drafted.
It's like, this is football paradise
and it's the right spot
to kick off a league every single year.
Now, we are joined by a man named,
uh, well, he's one half of the hammer.
Cowboys AP,
tone tone are we gambling on the hall of fame game tonight and what should we be looking at
we are 100% gambling on the hall of fame as you said you know two teams with NFL helmets are
playing tonight so we're definitely gambling on the lions are favored by point and a half so basically
call pick them so you just pick the the winner tonight you uh you mentioned that big news tonight
that kyle o'allan will probably be the starter for the lions and then hendon hooker we'll see
some time kylel Allen was really good in the preseason last year for the sealers he was 17 and
23 of 23 and they get one game that he got and then the charger side they had
have announced. Trey Lance will be the starter for at least a half. And then you'll get DJU.
Uriangelo late. Yeah, up and down, Pauls here. So you'll see DJU late. I normally side with
the quarterbacks who I would give the advantage to Kyle Allen and Hennon Hooker in this spot.
Trey Lance through five interceptions and one preseason game last year. I don't know, though.
The Harbaugh record is a lot better in preseason games at MCDC. All right. So it sounds like you
both sides. Yeah, it sounds like we didn't really get an answer. I'm waiting in Chargers.
Okay, sweet. You bet on this game. You might have to call the number.
No.
We're talking about NFL football.
It's been so long, Dee Butt.
They're saying this is March Madness of NFL.
Chargers are playing in the rook, they're rookies too.
Armaged Hampton's going to play.
Trey Harris is going to play.
It's going to be exciting to see those.
Yeah, excited to watch the game.
Gambling on it, though, is pretty wild.
We have no idea what's going to happen out there.
And who's going to run what plays.
Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, senior insider at ESPN.
Ladies and gentlemen, friend of the program, Michigan, man.
Adam Schifter.
Yeah, Shifty.
Yeah, Shifty.
Nothing like a war.
How are you doing, Chefty?
Sheffty, can you give us one O.H real quick, just to hear how the reaction goes?
And O.
Oh, jeez.
That's good.
That's good.
That's traveling from one posh event to another.
We understand how Michigan operates.
Chefty, can we get a couple quick updates before we get a chance to speak to these Hall of Famers?
Trey Hendrickson has come out and said, hey, nothing's changed.
Where do we stand with Trey Hendrickson over there in Cincinnati?
And the boys are very disappointed in Trey Hendrickson.
How is everybody else kind of feel about this?
Well, listen, they have near agreement on the length of the deal,
the value of the deal, but not to guarantee money in the deal.
And that's mistake to me.
All right.
And I see you, Shepter.
And I see a Shepter.
And I see a Shepter.
Is that Ohio was a good hit?
I don't know if that was just the entire state throttling Shepty there.
I don't know if that was the Cincinnati Bengals throttling Shepty there,
but I do know I couldn't hear a word he was saying.
But it sounds like from what Trey Hendrickson has said,
nothing has changed.
And in my eyes, the only thing he would be trying to do is extending all of Brinch.
You guys, you?
Not me.
Definitely.
Yeah, it was you.
You're on Sports Center yesterday saying, this guy tucked his tail.
That's what you said.
I said, you said it.
You said it.
You two definitely said it.
What if a deal gets done here?
I think that would be considered a success.
But it seems like everybody's thinking that Trey Hendrickson looks like a card is what we say yesterday.
But I don't know.
That's what you said.
You said.
Not everybody else said that.
He is trying to get back into ball.
He wants to get a deal done.
That's what I think is a good thing.
But business-wise, I don't know how this works out for it.
I hope it gets done.
But every day he's done on the field.
It's a new de-coordinator, right?
Yeah.
New D-Line coach, new everything.
Is he getting traded?
Like, how do we see this ending if we can just put kind of a bow on?
I see him just eating $350,000 in fines and then playing. And then, you know, hopefully he has a
great year. And then next year he has a great free agency where he does get the money he wants,
but coming in and saying like, yeah, no, nothing's changed. I'm just, I'm just here now.
It's like, okay, well, everything you set out to do, you've accomplished none of it.
So that kind of stinks. We all, like we said yesterday, I think Trey deserves $35 million a year.
So because of that, if you and other people believe that, which a majority of the people do, then you stay.
Like it reminds you the Chris Jones thing.
When Chris Jones was going with the Chiefs, he was eating all those fines, but he still stayed strong.
He missed the first actual game against the Lions at home.
On Banner Night, he was up there with the Cats Brothers in the suite.
And then he got paid a bunch of money.
And then after he got paid a bunch of money, he got an extension.
So it's like, hey, Trey, you did the exact opposite thing.
You bent the need of Mike Brown, who was basically shitting on.
you for three months. Katie Blackburn was saying stuff about you for three months and now after
this started in February it's over in July with you basically just looking like an absolute
clown because that's from your point of view from my point of view because you deserve 35 million
dollars and you're going to play for 16 well we'll see maybe they'll give him a little bit of a raise
maybe this olive branch will be nice because that was originally being talked about all I know is
Trey Hendrickson back in football camp it's because he's a football guy yeah he's a good team guy he's
good team guy. He was talking to Shamore.
He's coached him. He can't just run your shoulder into an offensive lineman's chest.
Not going to work. Maybe use your arms a little bit. That's good news. Maybe the Bengals make
a run. And also, people are saying that Joe Burrow right now is looking better than he's ever
looked. This is the best Joe Burrow that they've ever seen. Obviously, he's only had a couple
healthy training camps. The Cincinnati Bengals notoriously start very slow. Put themselves in
such a deep hole that all they're trying to do is climb out of it the rest of the season.
will this year be different?
And is Drey Hendrickson starting week one?
Oh, yes.
I'm going to say yes.
Because even if he signed three days before the game, he should start.
AJ, how did you feel about being on SportsCenter telling Trey Hendrickson?
I see.
I missed that.
You let me know when I got here exactly.
I thought you were a player guy.
That's how they popped me up.
You know, taking out of context, I think.
I was talking.
I was speaking as if I was Ty Schmidt.
I was relaying a message from him.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to celebrate the Hall of Fame.
It is time to celebrate this year's class.
Ladies and gentlemen, joining us now is a man who is the all-time leader in touchdowns at the tight-end position.
Change the game.
Kent State basketball legend.
Chargers, Icar, now officially, Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Ladies and gentlemen, Antonio Gates.
Yeah.
Careful.
It's slippery.
It's a athlete.
It's a athlete.
It's a little.
What's up, man?
see you too yeah be careful don't lean back what you said they got to be an athlete to get up here
yeah man you got to be the major athlete to get up here on this list you because we went through
your shit today i don't think we knew your history we knew you're a kent state basketball player
we had no idea that you were enrolled at michigan state uh when coach sabin was there asked to play
both sports he said no not going to do that i think even you're going to defense aside yeah then you
transferred to eastern michigan or something like i was on tour like an artist then you went to juco then
you went to kent state and i was committed to kent state uh at in high school my senior year at
for a point went up on a visit they have a whole mural about ntonio gates up there and you hooping
and it was like real shit like you were like real hooper now the world knows you is the greatest
tight end touchdown score of all time when you think back to those days did you know that
the cards were going to be football did you think it was going to be basketball like when you
look back now as an official Hall of Famer. I think it all worked out well. But was there a lot of
moments of like wonder how it was going to go for you? Well, you know, you're always, you know,
you're always optimistic that things will go to the right direction. But for me, it was just
all about basketball at that point. I think, you know, even when I went to Michigan State,
me going to Michigan State was me, you know, have an opportunity to play the game of basketball.
So never in a million years that I thought I'd be standing here in Canton, Ohio,
being a pro football home of time.
Well, you're sitting right now.
You will be standing later, but nonetheless, it all remains.
And we looked up your stats.
955 catches.
11,841 receiving yards.
A hundred and 16 touchdowns most in the history of the NFL.
You and Philip Rivers had a great connection.
But the way you played the position was so much different than everybody in the past.
How easy was it?
transforming into a tight end in the NFL, and then how easy was it transforming the position
of tight end forever? Because if you look now, a lot more Antonio Gates is at tight end than there was
before you got to leave. You changed the game forever, brother. Yes, I appreciate that. Well,
it wasn't easy because I got cursed out a lot. So just so we clear. I got cursed out a lot.
I did a lot of off-platform things. And at the time, I think that is what it means to
redefine certain things. When you do things off platform, people don't
agree with him at times. I like to use the analogy of the enemy of great is good.
Hell yeah. You know, so that was kind of what it was for me. I would see guys who did it the
right way. And I was there as a basketball player. I had things that I was used to doing of creating
separation. And, you know, I was going against guys guys, guys, guys, guys got his guy,
six, nine, 16. So I had to find a way to get my shot off at time. So playing the game of
football, I would do that. And guys say, coach say, go to 16. I'm like, well, he's sitting in 16,
coach I'm going to go to 14 you know I got you know I got to knock your head off sitting at 16 yards
I'm not going to 16 coach and I think what happened is that they start giving me the ability to
make the adjustment I think when you think of a good athlete you think of his ability to adapt
in the actual space at that moment and so when I would run around I really don't never really know
what I'm about to do I just make the adjustment at the right time and I think that's what gave me
an opportunity to be successful in the game of football on that note we are talking about
you earlier today.
AJ Hawk was a rookie and preseason game.
Yeah, yeah.
I don't know if you remember the rep.
He does.
You were on, I think you're at the end of the line, then you motioned out a little bit.
And AJ Hawk, linebacker has you.
AJ was trying to disguise that he was not covering you, okay?
You knew this guy.
You guys did a skim milk check on this guy.
And he said that you hit him with, how many moves did you say?
It felt like 15 moves within like a half a second.
And obviously you got wide open, you get a catch.
And he said immediately afterwards, you were like, hey, you got to look at my hips, dude.
He started coaching them up.
How much of that?
What was your relationship like with the guys he played against?
And at what point did you realize, like, oh, I can get open against basically anybody?
Well, you know, it's a natural reinforcement when you make, you know, catch passes.
So when I first started in the NFL, I went against a guy named Rod Woodson.
He was playing safety for the Raiders at the time, and I was a rookie.
And I had been playing video games with Rob Woodson my whole life.
So I remember Drew Brees was the quarterback at the time.
And they called him to play.
And it's like a slot.
I'm out the slot formation.
It's backside and it's 101.
I got a corner out.
And in my mind, I'm thinking I've been playing video games with Rod Woodson.
There's no way I'm going to get open against this dude.
He's a Hall of Fame, right?
So I went up and made a catch on Rod Wilson.
It was like a third down conversion.
And I think what happens is that it sends a signal to your brain that I belong here.
And I think ultimately the more plays I made, the more I felt like, okay, you know what?
I belong here.
I think you gotta have it mentally first
before you can obviously play it
and let it come out in the game
so you got to have it mentally
to make no mistake about it. No matter how
homo I sound, how I'm humble I see
when I play I feel like I got this dude
I can beat him. You got to have that part
in order for it to come to fruition
in real life. The conversation with the lads
afterwards. That was Rod Woodson, bro.
Yeah. Did you see that? Debutt has a question for you.
Yeah, a lot of guys playing now
look up if you with Pat mentioned it. You changed
you changed the position, but who
Who were some of those legends, some of those Hall of Famers?
I know Kellynne Williams, Sr. played for the Chargers.
Who were some of those legends you looked up to coming up at the tight-end position?
Well, you know, again, basketball was my forte.
I didn't really have, you know, guys that I would say I look up to in a sense.
But I know the idea of when you make things happen is the respect factor of guys who created the lane for you.
And you name the guy like Kelly Winslow Senior, you, you know, Marty Sean Harmon would always,
always say, you know, he would compare me to Ozzie Newsom a lot.
Leggy.
Right.
I'm from Detroit, so I knew a lot about Charlie Sanders, guys that just paved the way and
created that lane.
So, you know, when you think about the sport, and then, you know, I was, you know,
the Tony Gonzalez is and the Shannon Sharps and the younger guys now.
So there's so many guys, and I like to use that analogy because they always talk about, you know,
who's the best tight end or who's the best this, and that's the comparison in sports.
But the reality of it is is that I treat it like a lot of it.
the four by one team. We all had the baton
at one time and we ran as fast as we
can with it. And I think that's really
what it's all about. It's now we're passing it
to the next generation and I see guys
like George Kittles. You know what I mean?
The guys that's keeping it going and I think that's
what it was for me. A guy gave it to me and I
had it up one moment and I said I got to run my
best race. Fast time
and then pass it to somebody
else and hopefully they run hey it's your turn
you got to run as fast as you can. I think that's
really what it's all about. And I hope
now you see the generation and they
constantly growing at the position so I'm happy to be a part of that how do you feel about
tight-end university everything like that we talk about changing the position I mean that was kind
of the goal of that is like I think it was financial business talk to like hey we're starting
to catch a lot more and they're trying to talk about us as tackles we're actually wide receivers
as the market kind of changed for everybody but also like given inside game to everybody
you talk about passing a baton feels like they're trying to do that have you witnessed that from
before have you gone to it and what are your thoughts on it well I was I was invited to it but
I haven't been yet but I do like what they're doing and I think
You missed the Taylor Swift concert.
Yeah, yeah, right.
My daughter would be mad about that.
My daughter left to Swift.
Yeah, I do like what they're doing because at the end of the day, that's really what it's about, right?
It's serving a purpose and being, having a platform to be able to say, all right, well, I had this opportunity to do X, Y, and Z.
And this is the space that I was in.
Now, let me tell you what you should do and what you shouldn't do.
And I think that's a great idea for the tight ends, the next generation.
AJ has a question for you as a Ohio guy hits the horn as he rides by in Hollywood.
You mentioned, it's fascinating to listen to you talk about running routes.
And I would assume, like, you had a lot of freedom to run, you know, work off the leverage of your defender.
Like, was that always a thing when you were young getting into the league?
And obviously, how do you build that rapport with Drew Brees?
Obviously, Philip Rivers, we saw the connection you guys had.
Like, how do you earn that trust in the quarterback and the coach to where, hey, I'm going to, hey, I'm going to get open.
Yeah.
You just, you told me one.
Yeah.
Well, you got to earn it.
That's for sure.
You know, I think what happens is that is repetition.
It starts with underneath the surface, so they would know that at the end of the day, I'm working beyond my means.
It means more to me to have success than it does to the coach staff and everybody around me.
I think that's just something that you build.
That's what the training cap is for, right?
You start them dog days, that foundation, you're working hard.
I'm the last one to leave.
I'm working hard.
I'm running more.
I'm running extra.
I'm doing extra.
And ultimately, when I get out there, it means just as much for me to do it right than anything because I know guys are depending on me.
So that was my philosophy going into any game is that, man, these dudes believe in me.
The game plan is surrounded by number 85.
I need to make sure I deliver.
And I think that meant the world of me that guys would believe in me to that level.
So I would always make sure I would do the best I can and, you know, set the tone, you know, the fast as I can.
Taya's question for you.
Hall of Fame, Antonio.
Yeah.
So just curious.
He just mentioned Phil Rivers there.
in terms of like whenever his name gets brought up it's always hey is this guy a hall of
famer obviously we see his numbers they're incredible but then the super bowl discussion
always comes up what was it like having him as a teammate we've all seen the videos like his
person i truly believe he's one of one in terms of like his personality when you look back
at your career like how thankful were you to have a guy like that as your quarterback and
just what was it like being teammates of him wow you i mean you're talking about a uh a fiery
passionate his IQ was unmatched man I always knew that he was going to come to compete
I think that's what we had in common is that our ability to go out and compete I knew he was
going to give it his all and he's going to trash talk along the way so I mean you know so you got
you got to be prepared because he'll be trash talking to guys that you got to block so
that was the hardest thing is like you know guy you know Richard Seymour was a big dude
Philip so you know you keep talking to him I got a trade block rich as he more and he's mad at
philip you know what I said so it's the greatest is the greatest fit in the world I have a guy like
that on your side because it makes the game fun too because at the end of the day we play the game
for all the other stuff exes and nose and the money but you kind of keep that same kid energy
that 14 15 year old kid let's go ahead and have fun man we're playing in the NFL that's
man we got the best job in the world we get to play games and get paid that's man that's what
he loved to do is he love to play football you look pretty jock still
look pretty jacked i don't know if that's just going to be forever you or if you're still getting after
it or not you think you don't get enough credit for uh being able to block nobody ever mentioned
your name with block i know i know what people don't know this but in order to start for marty shenheimer
you got to be able to block power counter man so i started with marty shenheimer and the reason why
i started is because my ability to block power and trade black go to the backside back and
a bit of the block counter so uh people really don't never they don't never say that
But the athletic part came later on.
I had to block power a counter because A.O.T. was getting the ball.
You could say you cut your teeth.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, they earned the passes.
Nobody ever says that about it turning.
Yeah, they always talk to catches.
Yeah.
They always talk to the catch.
I know.
This guy's a threat through this guy.
Yeah.
11,841 yards.
Holy shit.
They don't talk about.
Yeah.
You have to build a block.
Block the problem.
You have to be tough, too.
Yeah.
You know, that's how I get the ball.
Last question here, as guy looks still jacked and obviously always going to be athletic.
Go ahead, comment.
Oh, no, Connor's microphone's off.
Oh, no.
Oh, no, Conner's microphone is.
Here, here, here.
There it is.
Nice catch.
Obviously, Antonio, you know, you play basketball, can't say that's part of it.
I don't think any of us knew how much success you guys went to an elite eight, you know,
and you're the star of that team.
That's absurd.
Now that you are, you know, Hall of Famer in the NFL,
is there congratulations incredible is there a shot maybe you now turn back to basketball
joining like ice cube big three possibly get back into hooping are you still hooping or no yeah
no i'm not hooping man i uh football is the weird tail on your body so i can't really go out
and play as much now uh but i do watch my kids play i enjoy watching the play but i do not
pick up the basketball having picked it up probably about six years so uh six years six years
like six years I haven't we don't even get like yeah I mean I still got a four I mean
I was a score nice yeah I'm laughing you don't I'm saying yeah so you can't shoot I can see
right you got to have the ball you know what I'm gonna have the ball you know what I'm
right I'm laughing yeah but he got it like this you know what I don't know you're gonna have
you're gonna have a Hall of Fame weekend yeah right it's your Hall of Fame weekend you
haven't shot a ball in six years six years I'd like your ass up right now I'm saying
I think the game was so lucky that you played it.
I think the league was lucky to have you.
I think the Chargers organization as a whole was lucky to have you represent them.
And I guess the last question would be, what are your thoughts on where the Chargers are headed right now?
We love Harbaugh.
Like, we love Jim Harbaugh.
We love Justin Herbert.
We love National Champion in Michigan.
Jim Harbaugh, now the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers.
The ownership spent $300 million on a practice facility in 2024, 2025.
Like, that never happens anymore.
The Spanus feels like they are trying to move the chips in.
Tough division out there.
We all understand that.
What are your thoughts on the state of the Chargers and what it could be out there in Los Angeles?
Well, I was like, you know, the more they be together, the more continuity that they would build.
Last year was his first year as a head coach, and we were super excited.
And to see the situation, what I thought was going to be a challenge, to change,
the style of what the West Coast ball is normally like coming from the Midwest, the running style.
Oh, got it.
To see that, because, you know, in West Coast, they like to throw the football.
So to see that, you know, you start building the foundation from the offensive line and start building out.
And to see that happening and winning games is refreshing, to say the least.
So I'm super excited about what they're going to do after a year under hardball and then the guys being together, you know, collectively for a whole year.
Who wins tonight?
I mean, I got my shirt on, man.
I got my shirt, you ain't got to ask me no questions.
We got some real degenerates around here
that are going to gamble on tonight's game.
Do you have any inside information
on the Los Angeles Chargers tonight?
Yeah, they're going to play.
Okay.
They're playing tonight.
Hall of Famer, all-time leading touchdown score
at the tight-end position
in the history of the NFL.
Legend, ladies and gentlemen,
busted-ass jumper heaven.
Appreciate you, man, I appreciate you, bro.
That's him, man.
Yes, sir.
Thank you, man.
Appreciate you, Antonio.
What a legend.
I'm not a left.
Not at all.
What was that guy's deal?
Just talking junk.
I had no idea.
You know, he was a left.
I should have known.
He was showing his clips right there.
I saw he got a nice little jumper.
Dude, at Kent State.
When I went there on the visit, great time, by the way.
Great time.
Oh, yeah?
Great time at that.
We had a good time.
They had a mural of him down the whole hallway,
and every one of them was, like, nasty highlight pictures.
He's at least a dog.
It's crazy.
Look at him.
Ah.
Ah.
Get off me.
And now he's a hall of the favor here in Canton, Ohio.
I'll tell you what, the weather has certainly been a factor.
Lost a couple speakers.
We lost a microphone.
But these football people have been standing up, Parker.
I can't hear things at times.
I don't think they can either.
But what an honor it is to kick off football here in Canton, Ohio.
I also appreciate the truck drivers that roll by and hit the old,
how do you doing?
Because they might be watching while they're driving.
We'd like to tell you, keep your eyes on the road, it's raining out here.
But also, bogey upper on the right.
I think we saw them on the way in.
Keep your eyes peeled.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Hall of Fame train continues.
Antonio Gates is first.
Ladies and gentlemen, joining us now, a man who had 54 interceptions in his career, 787 tackles, 5-4 spumbles, nine T-Ds, three-time all-pro, six-time pro-baller, Eagles legend, Eric Lello.
Daps up a John with a beer out there.
How are you doing, man?
Thank you for coming.
Hell yes.
Thank you for us.
Legend.
Congratulations.
Congratulations, man.
Hey.
Yeah.
Congratulations, man.
I appreciate you, man.
Appreciate you, man.
Come on.
Congratulations to you.
We were in the hotel last night down there in the lobby restaurant area.
Right.
And we saw you hanging out over there.
We saw everybody kind of rolling through there.
How has it been to just be at the position of the same exact.
place as all the legends that have basically created this league was last night a cool moment
whenever you get told obviously you're going into hall of fame very emotional has it all settled
in especially after now you've got here to canton and seen the other gold jackets you know what
it really has um I think the knock on the door with uh Randall McDaniel kind of solidified it
me and Randall went on recruiting trip to college together wow when we were 15 or 16 years old
so obviously Randall one of the best guards in the history of the national football league
So they did a pretty good job hiding it from me.
But when I opened that door and saw Randall there with that gold jacket, man, it just kind of like cemented everything.
You know, all the hard work, the sacrifice.
And that's what this is all about, you know, that journey there.
It's nice to be acknowledged, too, you know?
Yeah, for sure.
And I think finally getting the acknowledgement, was there a sense of fulfillment?
Was there a sense of I knew all along?
Or what is, like, kind of the mindset of it?
No, not for me.
Gratitude?
Not for me.
I think validation for the family members and all those teammates and that support and coaches who all, you know, believed in me.
I was given like a piece long ago that, you know, it was just about time, right?
And I was never really tripping and worried about if I would get here.
I knew it would be a time when I'd be here.
I love it.
It was just about validating all of those people in my corner, right?
The coaches, the players, the fans, you know, who always had to.
stats and was talking about, yeah, you should be there with Daryl Green and Prime and those guys.
So I'm just glad to be on the same team with all my brothers.
That's awesome.
DeBund has a question for you.
So along the way, you mentioned the coach's teammates.
Who was that coach that you would say had the biggest impact on you on your game?
And when was that moment or the biggest thing that you figured out during the game?
Because I know it's a lot of people watching players, fans, young kids who want to be where you are.
So what was that thing that you learned that kind of took you a long way in your career?
Well, let me tell you, man, coach named Willie Shaw, and he's David Shaw's dad who coached at Stanford,
but Willie coached in this league a long time.
And it was about preparation, kind of understanding that to be a great player, it was about playing from your neck up.
You know, you can have all the speed and the height and all that stuff, but my deal was I'm going to be where the ball is at the end of the play.
I can care less about what Jerry or Michael or what these great receivers are doing with the line of scrimmage.
I'm going to be where the ball is going to be at the end of the play.
And to be able to get to that point, you have to have great preparation and have a great understanding of what not just the quarterback is doing, but what the officer coordinator is doing.
So on the off season, I would take whoever's offense is that one, and usually it was the West Coast offense.
I would take that offense in the off season, and I would be Jerry Rice.
every route that Jerry Rice is going to run.
I would take the Dallas Cowboys offense and I would run Michael
Irvin's routes. I would be the Buffalo Bills. I would run
Andre Reed's routes. I would be the Atlanta Falkers run
Andre Reis and route. So when I got to the game
and it was a important situation, hey man, if it's going to be a
quick slant, Jerry, you know you're going to run it. I'm going to run it
too. I'm going to be in the right spot.
So it didn't always work. But of course,
when you're going against someone like my buddy,
Stirling sharp.
Yes.
Congratulations.
Stirling big time.
He's a different dude, man.
He's like a, he was a T.O.
Before T.O.
Big, strong, physical.
If you're getting pressed in front of Sterly,
he's going to grab you and move you.
Yeah, yeah.
So on that note, let's talk about how football used to be.
I know the O.Gs always talk about it.
I see you've got some busted ass fingers.
Always.
Always.
Always.
Obviously, obviously, in helmets and everything.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
When you view today's,
game in today's dbs i mean we got guys running four twos four threes out there yeah and they're
not allowed to grab as much they got to be like very tricky with it right what do you think of the
state of db play right now and covering people i love it i love it as as many of you know i work with the
raiders so you know i do post game pregame interview players and my deal is i love talking to the
receivers davante adams and those kind of guys to kind of get an idea of what the dbs now have
to deal with and man not being able to get your hands on guys now
It's not able to dislocate your pinky on this guy.
It's a whole ever game.
So, man, so for the corners who are balling today, man,
they're really cerebral players now, right?
They have all the athleticism and all the measurables that you have to have.
But I love the fact that these guys are cerebral.
I have a lot of these young players come approach me
and talk to me about the game and how they can get better.
So that's really what stands out now.
These young guys having a great idea of kind of what's happening and what's going on.
AJ has a question for you.
He also has some terrible feelings.
When you watch the game now, do you think the game, like the game is always evolving.
It feels like for a little bit we had, hey, we're spreading out.
They call it basketball on grass, whatever.
I feel like now, at least, the game's getting more physical.
We were at Steelers training camp.
They were tackling to the ground.
I saw what the Browns are tackling to the ground.
I feel like we hear Ben Johnson makes comments about the Bears having their longest, toughest practice today.
Right, right, right.
You see who's going to survive?
Like, do you think the game is coming back even to a more like, yeah, a safer, but even more physical form than it has been maybe the last five, eight years?
Without a doubt.
And the big reason why it's because the birds, the Eagles.
The Eagles are a physical football team, right?
And they're the champs right now, right?
So whatever that champ mentality is, that's what everyone else is going to try and copy.
I imagine this year everyone's going to try and get a running back, right,
and try and figure out a way that you can get to some third and short situations.
But as you know, there's not going to be more three days, right?
We used to have three days.
Not me.
I missed the three days.
You missed the three days?
Oh, my goodness.
Yeah, two days.
Two days, we'd have two practices of full hitting,
and then the third practice would be conditioning, right?
So it was all...
It was like six weeks long, too back, I feel like.
Oh, man, I put that tweet out the other night.
Oh, my goodness.
Somebody put a tweet out the other night, OG.
It was like, I went the training camp for six weeks.
We had three practices.
It was like back in my day, uphill, both ways.
It has changed.
The physical presence.
All the money, yes.
And you have to protect your guys, your assets.
You've got to protect your assets.
The one thing that has to continue.
continue to improve, though, is the tackling, right?
That's the one thing.
If you're going to be physical defensively,
we have to figure out a way to really get the ball carrier on the ground
without putting yourself in jeopardy.
So I think that's the next phase defensively
is to make sure we're tackling properly
so we can continue to play that physical game.
But after those guys are finished,
they don't have the head trauma and things like that.
Speaking of head trauma, you guys used to do some wild stuff.
Now, hold up, hold up, hold up.
What do you mean, you guys?
You.
But now I will say, we appreciate your era of football so much.
None of this happens without you guys.
And then obviously the guys are before you.
Football is beautiful.
It is.
It is.
I think Antonio Gates was a great way to describe it.
He talked about the tight end position, how everybody says, who's the greatest, who's the greatest?
He's like, I took the baton and carried it to the next generation.
Right, right.
It feels like all the football is like that.
Pat, let me tell you something, man.
I was in the perfect sweet spot, right?
So I played against Joe Montana and those.
49er teams, 88 and 89, when they were rolling, right?
They had Jerry, Mike, they had all tremendous players.
I ended my career playing against Tom Brady.
So I have a window of looking at all these great players,
and then I'm able to sit on the sideline and watch Mahomes.
So I just kind of take it all in, and it's changed from era to era,
but the one thing that remains constant is it's really all about the team.
There's no one individual that's going to be able to win by himself.
It has to be a collective.
Adam and Terry was able to win all by himself.
No, listen.
Now, I was in that game, right?
I started my career against the Bears in the playoffs.
What game you're talking about?
What's going to talk about?
Listen, listen, the fog bowl.
I was in the fog bowl in 88 and then ended my career at the tuck rule game, right?
So, wow, what a run.
And I'm not sure if you guys know.
they call a timeout before the play before the sack right I am Brady comes
over to the officer coordinator Charlie wise I'm on the side I'm on the
Patriot sideline and I hear Charlie tell him hey we're gonna go three by one
and throw a slant the back side they don't see me I run back to the huddle
and I'm like hey man listen they're going three by one they're gonna throw the
slant back side and I hope I'm on that slant side because I'm taking it to
the house right and so we get the slant my love
The linebacker is William Thomas, great friend of mine,
telling Willie T. sit in the first window and you're going to get a pick.
If not, I'm going to get one.
So Woodson comes off the side, sacks him.
I run to the sideline, tell everybody's story, and then there's that pause.
Oh, no.
That pause, and that referee, whoever's name is, he goes to the sideline,
and he's looking up and listening to this and that.
I'm not sure what happens after that, gets the call.
And now Raiders fans forever.
That's right.
That's right.
They are.
They are for sure.
And by the way, Adam Venetary misses that kick.
We don't have the conversation.
That's right.
But Adam Ventry does what Adam Vinetary does, walks out in the middle of hell.
It knocks that thing through just to make sure, you understand.
Diggs has the last question for you.
You started your career with Buddy Ryan.
You ended your career with John Gruden.
Now you get to see Pete Carroll almost every single day.
Do you like when the head coach has a big personality is a little feisty?
Yeah, I do.
I do.
I think that bodes well, especially for our group being the Raiders.
This is our fifth head coach in five years.
right but piece the kind of guy can get it done he has he has receipts that he's done there to the big
games when you go to kansas city and you're playing the chiefs you're playing the charge you're
playing the broncos who have coaches who have been there and done that before consistently you need
to have a coach that has done the same thing and i think him and gino are going to bring a little
more pepper to the to the raiders speaking of pepper how's the speech it's good man it's good
You feel good about it.
I do.
I do feel good.
In the mirror, we've done it.
In front of family, we've done it.
Only to ourself, we've done it.
How much work?
You know what?
When I'm sleeping at night, boom, I go over it.
It's in there.
The only thing is guys on the teams are giving me calls late.
You know, whoever they think is going to call late is going to get mentioned.
But no.
No, no.
I keep looking at the Venmo.
The Venmo's not getting bigger.
You're not getting mentioned if the Venmo account is not changed.
We can't wait to watch you.
Be celebrated all weekend.
congratulations how about can't ohio these people oh man it's been awesome man it's been awesome
there you go see look at represent baby yeah this guy's been drinking john daly's all
morning he has five dollar john dailies right now that is what i learned there you go and then the
philadelphia eagles john over here was chugging oh yeah the cowboy guy right here yeah
And on that
All right.
All right.
E-A-G-L-E-S-E-S-E-E-O.
Couple John's out here.
The whole world's going to celebrate you.
Congrats on being a hall of favor.
Thank you for coming by.
Cheers, man.
Ladies and gentlemen, Hall of favor.
Eric Allen.
Congratulations, man.
Congratulations, man.
14 years in the second area.
Crazy.
That's a long time.
Legend.
His fingers.
There's four.
Congratulations.
He's got a 40%
his fingers.
Yeah, that era, I think, the majority of those players.
They were finger and pads, right?
I mean, we were trying to get-
Just everything.
We're trying to get right in there.
Tackling, somebody's down.
Looser too, so I think the fingers getting jammed
in jerseys getting caught and ripped up.
Twisted?
Yeah.
Let's get a little breezier.
The rain has not related.
I do appreciate everybody hanging out with us chugging these five dollar drinks
there's a bunch of them back here that's a good price I think yeah five dollars is a
good price because it's probably what like dollar worth is stuff dollar 50 in there
to here they could charge something astronomical like a lot of people do five
dollar drinks it feels like every five dollar beers five dollar John Daile's
five dollar this oh ladies you gentlemen make some noise Jared Allen
Jared, can I go through your stats because you just blew right through it.
I was supposed to do the stats while you were walking up.
Oh, yeah.
My bad.
Ladies and gentlemen, a man who had 136 sacks.
32 forced fumbles.
Two tuds.
And force one man to run out of the back of an end zone.
That's tough, Dana.
It's going to be a long weekend for you, I think.
We're going to have a Jared Allen is here.
Appreciate it.
Thanks for having me.
Congratulations.
Thank you so much.
Well earned.
Well earned, well deserved.
How's it feel to be here?
We saw you last night looking very trim.
We'll get into that here in a matter of moments.
But how does it feel to be amongst the immortals, basically, here in the NFL?
Good, good.
Just take it as it come.
I don't try to look farther than, like, my feet, you know what I mean?
So, but it's good.
It's a great honor.
It's one of those surreal things because you can't really do anything to earn it.
And you get the award, you get the recognition so many years after you played.
You did a lot to earn it, but after you retire.
But when you're playing, you're not thinking about that, right?
You're trying to win Super Bowls.
You're just trying to be the best guy you can be.
You're trying to outdo yourself from the year before.
And this becomes a byproduct of it.
So it's one of those surreal moments where you're kind of relive in the past and get recognized for it so many years later.
So it's good.
The coolest part about it is is being up with the legends.
Like, you know, sitting there talking with Randall McDaniel, you know, meeting guys that, you know,
I used to watch the 100 toughest films for every high school game, 100 tough of the NFL, 100 toughest men.
And it's to actually meet those guys, you know, you're seeing some of the guys that have passed meeting their wives and their family.
So that's cool.
And just listen to just to guys talk.
He was talking to Jan Stederu the other day, you know, fellow Norwegian.
Oh, yeah.
And so just, you know, Willie Lanier hearing his story.
And I haven't seen Willie for years and years, years since the Chiefs.
just just super cool super uh fun experience i haven't heard yon spenner is there
i'd write that one down there uh jay has a question for you jart yeah we uh pat asked eric
i want about a speech what about your speech have you did you write it yourself you you feel
comfortable all me oh all you know you actually write down are you gonna is it go off top of your
head read it what do you do so i started off top my head right and then uh the hall is very
controlling they try to be sometimes they want you to check in i refuse to check in
I refuse to be censored.
I'm not, you're not going to tell me what I can say.
They want you to send a your outline.
They want you to send an outline.
What could this speech be?
And I'm like, absolutely not.
Yet what do you say?
I will not send a speech until yesterday.
No, so I wrote it myself.
It was all up in my head.
My wife was like, you might want to actually write it down.
So as great thoughts popped in my head, I wrote them down, organized them.
You know what?
It's pretty awesome.
Maybe.
I don't know.
Send a lot of love to a lot of people.
Yeah, it's a typical.
Let's be honest.
There's 380 speeches that have been, I'm number 380, right?
So 380-79 people have spoken before me.
There's not going to be a lot of original stuff coming out of my mouth.
There could be.
How shout somebody.
High school coach believed in me.
Yeah, we're going to hit the topics.
We're going to hit the topics.
Throw a little humor in there.
Wife, love you.
So much.
I was like, this can either go 23 minutes with me rambling or two minutes to be like,
thank you everybody.
No, don't do two minutes.
We need you right there in the middle.
We're good.
I just ran it through the teleprompter.
I'm 11 minutes with pause.
That's nice.
We're good.
Okay, good.
They banked in the clap and the laugh break.
Is that a laugh break?
That's up to the audience.
Oh, they'll deliver.
And these people will deliver.
I got some jokes that I hope don't fall flat.
Cars on the highway will also be cheering for you as you go.
DeBott has a question for you, Jared.
Yeah, when Antonio was up here, he talked about him, you know, watching Rod Wilson and having a route and he made a catch.
And that was kind of one of his moments was like, okay, if I'd get open against Rod Wilson, I can get open against anybody.
You had a long elite career, but was it a play or a game or maybe a tackle you went up against a quarterback you sacked that?
You was like, okay, I've kind of arrived even though you obviously got your ass off the whole way.
Yeah, that's actually a part of it's good.
I don't want to get the story away because it's in my speech.
Don't, don't, don't, don't.
Yeah, but early in my career, let's put it this way.
I took some lumps in the practice field, right?
And you learn very fast.
I had the displeasure and pleasure of practicing against Willie Roof every day.
And I think he's the greatest tackle to ever play the game.
And some people agree, some people don't.
That's my opinion.
But I knew if I could learn to beat him, I could beat anybody.
And so, you know, I think probably one of the first times I figured, you know,
we're going to be good was just, hey, learning through Willie and knowing what I was practicing of against.
But, yeah, I mean, I got my first sack.
I think it was like week three or four or something like that against the Texans.
And, I mean, just obliterated the tackle.
He disappeared.
And I was like, okay, we can do that.
Oh, my God.
Yeah, yeah.
How many of these guys are in the league?
Did you do this immediately?
No, so that, so when I was a rookie and my first couple of years, the vets, you know,
if the vets tell you what to do, you got to do it.
So the vets would make stuff up for me to do on Saturday.
Jack Sawyer was just carrying T.J. Watt's helmet off the field yesterday.
Yeah, so, like, one game they'd make me do spirit fingers.
No joke, I got a $5,000 fine my very first sack.
It was a pre-season, so it didn't count against Eli.
I did the old, like, slap the night that, you know, like,
flexed the leg out you know like bodybuilders deal they said it was sexually
suggestive five dot five thousand dollars right we don't know especially with your
sexual look so then I had then I had to do the lawn mower one week they would
make me do like high kicks so finally it was it was there's made me do all
sort of dumb stuff the Neil Smith
Neil Smith got put in the ring of honor and I did his celebration hit a
home runs had a couple good sacks against good old chargers I also love Philip
Rivers it was like he held the ball a long time
Love you, Flubb.
And was not the greatest mobile quarterback of all time.
Boy, that got can play ball.
Oh, fantastic.
And talk shit.
Oh, I love it.
That's what I love about it.
But I got a couple sacks, and Neil was like, hey, man, I appreciate you doing my celebration.
You need to do something that's, you know, that's you.
And I grew up on horse ranch, random cutting horses, and I used to grow up calf roping.
And so we were talking about it was like, man, when you calf rope, right, you throw the calf down,
you tie up three legs, put your hands in the air to stop the clock.
So we started doing that on quarterbacks about year, I think my second year, and it's stuck.
Legendary.
The best.
Also, you're like the only cop.
cowboy doing light ranching.
You ride a damn horse in the retirement thing.
It's like, are you still riding horses?
Are we still?
Oh, absolutely.
Are we still light ranching a little bit?
Oh, yeah.
I'm still roping, all that fun stuff.
My hands are just healing up.
I got tore up at a jackpot.
A jackpot?
What is a jackpot?
It's a roping, yeah.
It's just a roping competition.
Are you in it?
Yeah.
Are you by far the largest human being that's on top of these horses that are doing
these things?
Yes.
Now, on that note, you're much smaller than you were.
Correct.
I don't want to give away the story, but as soon as we saw you,
we thought you were doing like,
the Ironman cycling race.
Post-N-Fel career, that's not the case.
No, so at first.
Actually something very scary.
So at first, I realized muscle weighs more than fat, so I quit lifting weights.
Smart.
Just get rid of the muscle.
Yeah.
That's health tip number one, people.
Get rid of the muscle.
I'm on a lot of science trying to build it right now, but okay, I'll listen.
You're a whole thing.
But no, so then I was losing weight rapidly, right?
I couldn't figure out, like, I randomly dropped 10 pounds.
I couldn't gain it back.
ground to drop 10 pounds. So I was doing all these tests trying to figure out, you know,
what I had, make sure I wasn't dying. And then my doctor found out doing some adorption tests
that I had alpha gal, which I got bit by a lone star tick when I was out in the woods one time.
And it makes me allergic to the sugars in mammal meat, any mammal meat. Wow. And so I was having
some digestive issues and losing weight. So now I'm on the fins and feathers diet for a little bit
so I can get it out of the diet. Fins and feathers. It's called fins and feathers. And, yeah,
just trying to get weight back on. And now I've got to start lifting weights again.
How long has this been happening?
I don't know. I just found out, but it's been happening probably to where five or six years.
I just got out this year, yeah.
How long? Is this forever going to last?
No, some people is forever.
I'm luckily, I have a light, so I might be able to get it out of my system.
Some people have to carry epipan.
Some people can't even, like, touch the grease or use hand soaps that have beef gelatin.
Microdose it.
Holy hell.
That's crazy.
Well, I'm happy you figured out what it was.
Yeah, for sure.
Because it did look like you had a 32-inch waist when you walked in.
Yeah, 34, but yeah, it's getting there.
It's getting there.
Nice.
You can be a tailor.
Yeah, we were eyeballing it.
I was like, that dude's got a 32-inch waist, I think.
What sucks is when you get smaller here, your head doesn't change.
My head looks bigger.
It's like, oh, this is not a good look.
The whole thing.
Yeah, but you look healthy.
Yeah.
Even though you weren't at all.
I feel good. Outside looking in, you looked very good.
And also, the hair still looks phenomenal.
Oh, yeah.
You know what?
And, Connor, I appreciate you.
Letting it flow tonight.
Thank you.
I really appreciate that.
Before the show, I said,
fuck Jared Allen.
I'm not getting my hair out.
And then, you know, when I saw you, I said,
you know, this is Jared Ellen's week.
you know it's something that's cool it's an incredible honor last night for those that don't know
which is everybody that's listening jared allen walked over to us in the lobby restaurant of the
hall of fame thing walks over to us we have like a 35 second encounter great to see you holy hell
you look good well i'm actually not good does the lone star thing the whole alpha gall and then he
looks at the table he sees connor and he goes you're you got a man bun and then he looks the rest of the
table he goes you guys are letting them do this it was within 45 seconds just
murders Connor immediately and uh corner goes okay
it's not a degree every super defensive he got super defensive you my hair's longer than yours
you can't tell it's in a bun bro uh my daughters wear bun so that's cool
uh but i'm saying with a main like that dude and it's a windy day that thing just got to be
i know now windy and wet we were actually i was gonna ask you a completely different question but
what should i do with my hair man
I don't know what to do.
Every time you're in a public swimming pool,
you should just duck your head under
and just come out and just shake.
That should be mandatory.
I'm not swimming pools.
I'm not somebody to piss.
What are we talking about?
I like that idea with the pool,
but that doesn't change my hair.
I'm tired of changing the hair.
We got a minute and a half here.
The hair is amazing.
Before I heard out.
You burying Connor was wonderful.
Tone has a question for you.
Last one.
Minute and a half.
Do you get a commissioner of percentage
with Miles and TJ get paid $40 million a year?
Like the D.S.
and the D.
edge rushers before them wouldn't that you guys get do you guys get a commission for
but unfortunately at dome and you know what every generation says the same thing
oh man if I was playing today I was super paid like imagine Reggie White was playing
today they'd have to pay him a billion dollars yeah you'd be the first
billion dollar contract ever no I just like seeing the success man I like seeing
guys that are still playing all four downs or all three downs right like Miles
Garrett appears he's a max right Tj he's making plays just other than the pass rush
you know and that was what you know before you know when you get high sack numbers a lot of
do we start focusing on that right you know I came from like like uh I heard Antonio
talking about Marty ball and he had to I mean I played against Antonio right
uh but tight ends are still only half people just so we're all killed
half people we're in the D-line we don't consider them full people they're only they're not
they're not anyways that they uh yeah so I like I like seeing those guys carrying the torch
and still you know setting that pace of being a football player not just a pass
well Jared we appreciate you being a football player a great huge
A hilarious one.
And now, ladies and gentlemen, officially, a Hall of Famer.
Enjoy the hell out of your weekend.
Ladies and gentlemen, Jared Allen.
Appreciate you, Judge.
Thank you so much, man.
He's going to put some more weight on.
Yeah, I'm going to go eat.
Yeah, it needs to eat something.
Disappearing.
34-inch waist is insane, but he's a legend.
You've seen the headlines.
Heard the debates.
The three-point ball has created a monotonous rhythm to the game.
Has the three-pointer ruined basketball?
And how did we get here?
The rise of the three-point shot can be partially traced to an eccentric Kansas genius named Martin Manley,
whose story didn't turn out quite the way he imagined.
I decided I wanted to have one of the most organized goodbyes in history.

ESPN fantasy football today
is kicking off this evening as the chargers and the lions will play in the
the hall of fame game and we will celebrate the fact that football is all the way back it is a
perfect day here in canton ohio as it's rainy it's windy and there's a lot of ohio folks standing in
a parking lot getting drenched celebrating football in its entirety the first hour we had a chance
to chitchat with three out of the four dudes that are going into the hall of fame this year we
did put a request in for all four dudes
that are going into the Hall of Fame this
year. I don't know if it was scheduled timing or anything
else. I just want to let it. That was not
on us. Anybody's going to talk about it. That was
on the other side. Correct. And also, kind of
understandable for whatever reason.
It's not just me. The talks of tables

champion, ladies
gentlemen, AJ Hawk is here.
Nine-year NFL event.
I don't want to step on that.
That's it, Bruce.
Speech.
AJ Hawk is getting his name chanted by Bruce Brown,
who's standing out in the rain with everybody
because he did not want to be in the truck
with the entire group of dipshit
is his exact word.
I don't think he's talking about you, Fox,
you back there in the truck,
but you boys are doing a great job.
We appreciate you.
nine-year NFL vet.
Absolute genius, ladies
of gentlemen, Jerry Shay Butler.
We appreciate you, Dee Butch.
In about 17 minutes or so,
I believe we'll be breaking some news
with another incredible honor
of having a high school commitment
take place on our show.
We don't know how this has become a thing for us,
but we want to let everybody know.
We're pumped about it.
Pretty cool.
The guy that's going to be joining us today
is six-foot-three
two hundred and sixty pounds
going into a senior year from Alabama
high school. And Anthony
Tank Jones
and they're going to say
Tank Jones
Tank Jones
Tank Jones! Tank Jones!
This guy's a monster.
Yeah, huge. And he's making
his commitment here at about 17 minutes. I believe
with the way he is built in the mindset that he
has and now everybody talks about him, there's a chance
that he ends up in this damn hall of fame.
There's also a lot of players right now that we
have an eye on around the NFL that could be destined for Canton, Ohio in their time.
Let's talk about a rookie who is attempting to do something that has never been done before.
Let's go down to Jacksonville, Florida.
More specifically, DeVall County, new coach, new GM.
This is what they had to say the day after the draft when they traded a lot of assets to get up the number two
to make their pick out of Colorado.
Yeah, you know, as we sit here, Travis Hunter is a Jacksonville Jaguar,
and really what comes to mind for me, right?
thinking about the sport of football and really the power of the game itself, right,
its capacity to ignite belief, right? Belief in ourselves, belief in others, right? Belief in
achieving what many may deem impossible. Travis Hunter, he embodies belief, right? He's a rare
person. He's a rare player, but he's also a reminder that the boundaries,
of the game of football were built to be challenged.
Oh, yeah.
And so the decision to select him was actually a statement,
a statement for how we plan to move, who we are,
and we want him to be nothing more than him.
Because when he is, he elevates the space around it.
From the football field to the city,
to the game of football itself,
Travis Hunter is who we've been hunting up.
Couldn't be more jacked to be sitting right here beside him
and introduce you all to the man of the hour.
That is how Travis Hunter was introduced to the NFL media
and to the entire Jacksonville Jaguars fan base
from their brand new GM who looks 12
but has a great football mind is what everybody has told us in Gladstone, old Stoner.
Then let's go to training camp where Travis Hunter was chit-chatting.
with Pete Prisco of
CBS. Bingo.
Guys been around a long time. We appreciate his commitment
to football. This was his question for
Travis, as we all said to ourselves,
there's no way this guy's going to be able to do something
that's never been done before, right? Here's Pete Prisco.
How many plays you think you can play? You think you can play them all?
Yeah, I definitely think I could play them all. If I didn't
think I could play them all, I wouldn't be trying to do it.
But what makes you able to do that?
Nobody's ever done that. What makes you
capable of doing that? Just my mental.
You got to have the right mindset going into it.
you got to have the right knowledge you got to understand what you're doing when you're going
out there you got to understand how to take care of your body too so when he says those things
debuts yeah obviously he is going to be a guy who thinks he can do it all because he's already
done it all at a very high level he is a guy who was drafted number two overall to do it all
he is a guy who is special he's the highest rated madden player in the history of rookies
in the NFL at 84 just one point below the highest rated punter in the game and a j cole is a
three-time Pro Bowl at 85. Don't love that.
But with Travis Hunter, what are your thoughts early out of camp from what we've seen?
And how do you think this works out?
What does success look like in your house?
I mean, I played both ways my senior year in college.
We had like a 15-play script for certain games.
And I thought, just like him, I could play full-time on both sides.
And you realize, no, probably not.
You can't be effective on both sides full-time.
And people have said, it's impossible.
The boundaries will be pushed.
I'm excited to see him attempted.
The mindset, though, when you get to the NFL, we heard Eric Allen talk about it, his off-season
he was running routes he was learning the office like those are the details and the levels that these pros go to so for him to be able to compete and excel on this level on both sides of the ball will be extremely difficult but we saw he's a unicorn we saw him do things we've never seen do on a big time college level so can he do it on the pro level we shall see I'm excited to watch he has the skill set but up here it's going to be between the ears can he figured out can he game playing can he take care of his body can he do all those things for an 18 game regular season yeah or 18 week running
Yeah, 17 games, 18 weeks, nonetheless, and you start stacking years.
Now you've got preseason, offseason, playoff games.
Hopefully they're thinking down there in Jacksonville.
Remember, they were in the playoffs.
That's right.
Just a couple years ago.
Brand new head coach, brand new GM, feels like a new energy.
They got stadium to deal with her for the next couple of years.
I don't think anybody's expecting them to win a Super Bowl this year.
But if you were to say, what does a successful career look like for Travis Hunter?
Obviously, if he comes premier at one of those positions, that's a successful career, no matter what.
even if it's number two overall pick, number one overall pick, whatever it is.
But if he's able to play both ways for an extended period of time in the NFL,
I think everybody would be mind-blown by.
What does success look like, AJ?
How long do you think?
Man, success for him, obviously, if he's a premier player as a corner or a receiver,
but I think he doesn't have to play every single play.
They can talk about all right.
Can you play every play?
Yeah, I could.
Like, technically I could.
I think you can find packages here and their form.
I don't know what, like, what does he identify more as a receiver as a DB?
Do we know?
Well, I don't, like, that's like Shohey, who said he was,
hitter who became a pitcher or whatever in his entirety.
That's two different things that everybody said you can't do, you can't do, you can't do.
He is trying to defy the odds there.
We said he was also a unicorn.
Baseball people said he was a unicorn.
And then in his fourth or fifth start, whatever it was, he had a bad outing.
Now everybody's calling for him, stop wasting your time.
You need to go hit.
Well, that happened with Travis.
Yes.
If he gets bombed on and he has like two touchdowns on the other side, people are going to be like,
why are we wasting any time on the defensive side?
And on the flip side, if he is a glove, if it is Revis.
Island on the defensive side and he's you know the jacksville jaguars on the
offensive side he's scoring like maybe has eight touchdowns on a year nine
touchdowns on a year good which would be very good yes it's like do we want to
sacrifice glove on defense for the other those conversations are going to last for his
entire career just like it has with show hey yeah for sure and I think with him like
the expectation shouldn't be like oh because he can play both ways like this guy should
be a top five receiver and a top five cornerback like you look at show hey he's either the
best hitter or the second best hitter depending on you know how you feel about it in the MLB
and he's probably like a top 25 pitcher but he's good enough to go out there and compete on the
mound as well obviously you just got hurt which kind of you know throws things into a ray a little
bit but for Travis Hunter if he is a top 10 guy at either receiver or cornerback and he's a top
half guy at the other is that good enough to dictate like hey this guy needs to continue to
play both ways or do you just say I genuinely don't know how to handle it especially after that
Press conference.
The most, too, for the team needs.
Do they need a corner more?
Do they need a number one recede for more?
What do you need?
Like, there's more drunk.
Like, we are a supporter.
We would like him to play both sides.
And we talked about this earlier in the basement of the Hall of Fame.
Sure.
That's cool.
Yeah, we're sweating in the Hall of Fame.
It's a banger.
We're in there in the basement.
Listening to that, I will have you know.
Also listening.
to MGK
who will be joining us
here with some breaking news
actually about one of his songs
I believe about to call his he's
but we're chitch chatting there
how long does he have to play
both sides to be a
Hall of Famer just like considered a Hall of Famer
because we're in here it's like if he was able to
play what a contract
two contracts
that's what six seven eight years
if he was able to play eight years
on both sides guaranteed Hall of Fame
I mean not even question if he was to play both
sides five years and then transition or four years and transition into one of them I think still
hall the fame resume type stuff anything he does is going to be unique it's going to be a mold
breaker if you but how long does this is able to last what can the human body do even if it's one of
the most physically fit bodies that we've ever seen in Travis hunter yeah that's right I don't
think the full offense and defense is going to be you know for an extended period of time like
I know it's Sweden training camp and you know when he's doing offensive drills
in the morning during special teams
he's doing defensive drills he's getting
the most reps out of anyone basically
everybody I think we just
go back to what we said originally
like I think the idea of him
having a package on one side
of the field is still more likely
than him playing every single
he's going to play full time
at one position
we just got this smack that our heads
I didn't know they write notes on somebody in the crowd
Michigan sucks here on one side
now
what is
Michigan's record against Ohio State
over the last couple years.
It's not defeated against Ohio State.
This guy said also, need some beer money
if you'd like to hit me up. Yeah, it'd be great.
Smart. Classical Ohio here.
One side we've got Michigan sucks. The other
says, hey, don't be scared to send me a little beer money.
Love that. Love what you're doing, buddy.
Good luck. I hope
you get a beer, too. Five bucks if you want to send
five bucks. Everything gets
five bucks all you can eat.
The Travis Hunter story is going to be one that he's going to be
talked about forever. If it doesn't work out,
okay at either position not saying it's going to don't want that
i was kick kicker punter coming out yeah thought that i was going to be able to
play both said i think i could was in the senior bowl as a kicker was drafted as a punter
thought i could maybe at one point figure out how to do both there was one guy that tried it in
the past he was in alana they had him kick field goes they had him punt and he missed like
six straight field goals or something after like a great four-week start or five-week start
then he missed a bunch and they're like we're never doing this again
because your leg cannot take it.
You need to be a master at one thing.
So if he does this, obviously historic
for all positions, all sports, everything like that.
But there's a chance that neither...
What if one's eating away from the other?
And they both kind of attack each other.
So many different options on how the story can go.
We believe in Travis Hunter the person.
Yes.
But the NFL is tough, dude.
And it's been guys who had the ability to play both ways.
Charles Wilson, the key to leave.
You're one of your college teammates, Chris Campbell.
A guy I looked up to.
These guys had skillset to be a full-time wide receiver or DB.
But as what you get to either is college, which happens to most guys,
you go to a big-time D-1 school, but definitely to the NFL.
Dion Sanders, he's the guy that can remember most touching the ball on both sides.
Champ Bailey, another one, but, like, it'll be incredible if he does it.
He has already pushed Brownies and broke boundaries.
So I'm not going down.
I mean, I know he's going to be successful because the Cleveland Browns passed on him.
And if the Cleveland Browns passed on you and trade away that pick,
This guy is going to be an automatic Hall of Fame.
Great point.
I think Cleveland's like 45, 50 minutes from here.
Yeah, there's a lot of scumbagg, Ohio, and Zock.
Right there's a Cowboys fan.
Latrobe was so much better in this place.
The Hall of Fame should have been in La Trove.
They made a huge mistake.
They definitely would be in pissing rain.
This is awesome.
So how do you think about that is they can't hear you because the Ohio weather is
beating the shit out of these speakers.
Yeah.
Because of how tough this point of time is.
They heard enough.
This is why it's a pro football Hall of Fame.
Travis Hunter's story, though, special.
We all need to treat it that way.
And then there are some people that are probably sick of hearing about it or whatever
because there was a lot of attention to that Colorado team.
What he's doing is a very big deal in the history of sport, and we need to talk about it.
Do you think at all about those guys, DeBud just mentioned.
The places they went to school were all top five in the country,
and he went to Colorado and they were playing Colorado State.
Like, does that actually come into a thought here?
Colorado State's a good program.
Colorado State's a great program.
Well, we know for sure.
Trey McBride, love that guy.
Bradley Van Pelt.
But truly, like, Gamble, like,
Woodson, they're playing against the top talent in the country every week.
And then you're thinking about Travis Hunter,
and they go to Nebraska, who wins seven games,
and they lose 30 to nothing.
So it's just one of those great.
Absolutely.
And if you look at Travis as a player, like he was like a five-star coming out of high
number one, recruit to any program.
And then he follows Coach Ryan, go to Jack State,
then go to Colorado.
but got drafted number two for a reason like if you look at his skill set him running him
breaking his awareness his ball skills all of those are on a elite like tier one level
i would say all time as far as a prospect goes um so i don't i don't have any you saying like
do you like a little my my thing is like a level of comp yeah well my thing is like dion let him
play both ways but all those other top schools that he was getting recruited by as the top
recruit they were only going to let him play one way right like it wasn't like a hey you can
The reason he wanted to go play for Dion is because he almost the only one that was like, yeah, you can play both ways.
Dion also put a plan together for him, understood.
I think Dion, there's only a couple people that can have those conversations, too.
Exactly.
And those two are them.
Coach Brons, one of them.
And once again, we can't say this enough.
Coach Brun, hell yeah, dude.
Oh, yeah, Coach Brown.
Hell yeah, Coach Brun.
No, the Unicorn.
Hall of Famer, obviously, this is home.
And, yeah, you talk about a unicorn forever.
He didn't play every snap.
For everything that I said about Coach Brum, I would like it to be known that the way he coaches, he's a hard ass.
He's attention to detail, committed.
And then also, like, a lot of people say he's flashy and yada, yada, yada, yada.
The dude just went through cancer, and nobody had a clue about it.
Yes.
Like, you know what I mean?
You're talking about a dog through and through.
And Coach Brian, we love you, man.
We're happy you're good.
We are very happy that you were good.
Loves his players, too.
I mean, that kid who just had to, you know, medically retire and he honored his scholarship
and he'll keep him through.
Like, so people can say what they want.
But the players on his team, obviously, love him and would run through a wall for him.
And it's a perfect place for Travis Hunter.
Yes.
Yeah.
And if the Travis Hunter story goes how we all hope and think it's going to go,
that is a huge decision that he made coming out of high school.
Now, speaking of decisions coming out of high school,
ladies and gentlemen, it is our honor to be a part of yet another commitment
for a high schooler that is 6 foot 3, 260 pounds.
Wow.
Head on his shoulders, pure.
These younger guys who have been dealing with this business stuff
and a little bit more attention feels like
it are much more mature than we would have been
back in the day.
We're standing at the Hall of Fame here, obviously.
There's a chance that this guy is in here someday.
A lot of work to do, including a great college career.
Where will it be?
We shall find out.
Ladies and gentlemen, from St. Paul's Episcopal
in Alabama, a man who's a five-star edge rusher
in an absolute beast with a great nickname.
Please make some noise.
Anthony Tank Jones.
Yeah, Team!
Big Tank.
How you doing?
Okay, I like that.
We got a microphone.
Where are we right now?
Let's zoom in.
Let's do his shot full there.
Okay, who all do you have with you right now, Tank?
Just so we can get the names with faces here.
This is my dad, Anthony Jones, Sr.
What up, man?
My little brother, Tristan Jones.
What up, dude?
Good to see you, buddy.
This is my mom.
I'm funny Dwight.
Hey mama, good to see you.
Where are you right now, Tank?
Sir.
Where are you right now, Tank?
I'm in my school theater.
Okay, so you're in the theater.
Is there people there?
Are you guys just taking up the stage with nobody in the crowd?
I got people here.
That would have been a big time move if you would have done that.
Tank, please tell everybody in there that we're appreciative of the time today
and we're honored for this opportunity for one of their finest in the history to tell us where he's headed.
Tank, I assume this whole.
recruiting process has been pretty awesome but also maybe a little bit heavy how has it gone for you
and your family and how much work has it gone into making this decision today it's been a long journey
i can say i feel like i'm been blowing up i just been taking the day by day staying humble and just
keep my head grinding and stuff like that and i just been thankful for it okay well it is our honor
to be a part of this uh we have your final three that has been basically all over
the internet. Ohio State is not a part of the final three. We're live in a parking lot right now in
Ohio. Tank had to say that. Alabama, Oregon, Texas A&M, obviously he has scholarship offers from
everybody, including West Virginia, which don't love this. But nonetheless, Tank Jones, will you
please let the world know where you will be continuing your football career?
Well, first off, I'd like to thank the Lord. Without him, knowing what this is.
would be happening and I would thank my family all the sacrifices they made the
long night stand up long flights all that and I like thank the community also and my coaches
and the school just the dedication they showed to me and the love they shown back to me
I just been very grateful for it for the next three to four years I'll be continuing my
academic and athletic career at
Wait a minute.
Wait a minute.
Are we contemplating right now?
The University of Oregon.
Okay.
Skow docks!
Skow dogs!
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
Congratulations to you, congratulations to Oregon.
I know your school there is in the state of Alabama.
How hard of a decision was it to go to Oregon
and why did you end up choosing Coach Dan Lannning
and the Oregon Ducks?
It might not be.
Relationships I have with them,
just the way I know they can develop me.
The history of Coach Lennon, Coach Blue Boy,
like the ages they can coach,
and I just know they can give me to the next level.
All right, well, congratulations to you,
your family, your entire school there.
Thank you for letting us be a part of this.
Skor dogs!
Skour dogs!
Hey, congratulations, man.
Hopefully someday you're here from us and all of you.
Congrats.
Ladies and gentlemen, Anthony Tank Jones.
I thought doing that the Hall of Fame could be cool.
Yeah, for sure.
Completely forgot about Ohio State.
Yeah, sure.
We didn't know exactly where he was going to go.
We had three different graphics for committing two or whatever.
The fact he's going to Oregon is obviously,
Obviously, a great thing for these people here because Ohio State, Oregon, about to become a great rivalry for years and years.
Oregon's far, but it is beautiful.
Yep.
Beautiful campus, beautiful views.
And obviously with Uncle Phil, the facility.
The amount of money that they're pouring into ball in sports is a whole.
They already have a nice facility.
They're building a new facility just because we need a newer facility, even though they have one of the newest facilities in the country.
It's like Oregon's going to be a player.
just like Ohio State's always going to be a player.
Just like Texas is always going to be a player.
Just like Penn State is always going to be.
And just like Michigan is always going to be a quarterback.
They got a quarterback who's young and very good from all reports.
But him going to Oregon, what does this mean to you?
What do you think this is saying to Alabama?
Right?
Because he's in Alabama.
Huge.
And they were one of his final.
And what do you think this means for Oregon as a whole going for?
I mean, I'm sure Bama fans are pretty pissed off right now, a long way.
But, you know, Dan Landa, he's building a great program out there.
But I just love these kids making these commitments on the show.
And the odds that we're playing now, we've had, what, five or six of these guys now, four or five stars.
We're playing some good eyes.
We may not be doing this anymore, but they may definitely be in this hall at least one or two of them.
But I love them getting on here with their family, all the people that made those sacrifices in for the next three to four years committing to where they're going.
two. That was awesome. What was the percentage that
we heard about five stars? So yeah, I heard this
on a show the other day. It used to be 60%
of five stars got drafted in the
NFL or made it in the NFL in some way.
Over the last few years, it has jumped up
to 65%. So I don't know how
if the rankings are getting better or whatever, or
if more NFL teams are just taking more chances on
talent, but about 65%
of these five stars are now going to
the NFL. Tank John's great nickname, Conman.
Fantastic. 6-3-260. He's
on the internet. 6-3-245.
FaceTime with him this morning. I'm like,
6-3-245 geez what a monster and he's like no actually I'm like 260 right now because remember
these guys are all still growing that's that's the thing like I get that and I don't know how it was
when you guys were growing up like is this how it was for everybody because the Atkins kid we
talked to he's massive there's a few other players that we I mean the the tackle that guy was
six seven three 50 he's in high school like I don't when I play which was kind of recently I don't
remember it being like that like clowny for instance he was the one guy Derek Henry
Derek Henry the one guy but now it feels like there's 25 of them on on every 100 list it's
absurd AJ Ohio high school football oh yeah can McKinley plays right here a legend
came through here yeah is it is Ohio high school football still very much right it's very very much
legit yeah why why do you ask for that sarcastic condescending way well I mean I was not
Don't you guys have a game?
You used to have the Big 33 game.
I don't think they do it anymore.
Well,
I lost so many in a row that they stopped them.
Did they?
Actually, we have no idea what the record is in particular the Big 33 matchup.
I was not able to play it in it.
I was at school already.
You know, just get ready to be a mountaineer.
And also wasn't invited.
Whatever you, whatever, I don't even want to get into it.
6-3-2-60.
And he's going to.
And they seem to be good kids, too.
That's what they're all of them.
What are beyond their years, as you say?
Okay, let's talk about some NFL news that is happening.
I guess Ben Johnson's a hard ass.
Hell yeah.
That is what they're saying.
That's what I've heard, yeah.
And I can respect and appreciate that, especially if he starts out that way.
There's been basically daily reports that Ben Johnson has been holding them accountable.
You miss a, you miss a read or something.
Get off the fucking field.
You jump off sides, get off the field.
You don't know the route.
You're supposed to run.
Get off the field.
And I guess it's being reported as like,
this guy is a terrorist.
This guy is the meanest man of all time.
Ben Johnson's trying to change the culture in Chicago quickly.
That is very evident from what I've been hearing.
How do you think it goes deep?
Because obviously, if it goes well, it's good.
But we've seen the Matt Patricia situation.
We've seen the Mangini situation in Cleveland here.
Where I heard guys McDaniels out in Denver,
this can go the wrong way but also it can go the right way yeah and i think i like that ben
johnson is leading with this as opposed to evolving i think you probably feel the same you said
something very big there he's coming in starting off as a hard ass we've all had experience with coaches
it's one way to start off that way and then you can get a little lighter as time goes as you build
that trust but if you come in as a lighthearted players coach and you try to become a hard ass doing
your tender uh tender that never works but he chose he chose he chose his place he could have went anywhere in the
league for the last two or three years and he chose to go to Chicago. He chose to go and coach
Caleb Williams. So he saw something there. I think they had a good draft. I think they had
a great all season building up the offensive line. And now it's going to be about developing
a quarterback. That's going to be his biggest job. And when you are the head coach and you're the
play caller, you don't have to worry about leaving every year. You know, he's going to build that
continuity. So I'm how being Johnson, Caleb Williams. I think they'll figure it out the next couple
Chicago Bears might be the new Kings of the
Anderson North. They're not.
We can do that. Hey, we got a couple.
We got a couple weeks here. We can still do that.
No, they are. Let's do it.
Ben Johnson's coming in there with a little
kind of Billy, just like every other team.
Ben Johnson's coming in there with a quarterback who's
picked number one overall, is generational talent.
AJ, as a Green Bay Packers legend,
you scared the death that all of a sudden
the Chicago Bears are about to show up in the NFC
North conversation? No, I'm not scared at all, but I think
it's good. It's good for the NFL.
It's good for the NFL. It's good at the Bears are good.
to see a good rivalry game the bears packers matchup is unbelievable the history goes back forever but
have you ever seen a coach say this before practice like declare that hey this is going to be our
longest our toughest practice let's see let's separate the men from the boys who's going to survive
you say you know like to win a who wants to be king of the mountain so that means first play at practice
you just got to annihilate somebody and start a full brawl with the whole team right yeah
no he didn't say you know like fighting maybe he said these guys are saying they don't give a
shit back in about what this whole talk guys wearing a
Dolphins are a dolphin. He would like talk about dolphins being all the way back.
I think dolphins fans are believers. They might not be as shite as we thought they were going
to be. Any of these teams could be good, including the Bears time. No, yeah. And I also,
I also appreciate that he's doing this now because it kind of just shines a light on
apparently Matt Eberfluce was just letting these guys do whatever the hell they wanted at all
times. I mean, we saw how many gaffs they had on both sides of the ball. So I understand it.
But again, we do this with the Bears every single year. Bears fans will say,
Like, hey, you beat the Packers once last year.
They did.
I don't know what your mouthed at me.
Okay, sounds good.
But it's just, you know, this is why this part of the calendar is awesome.
Yeah, I know.
Because we get to do, every fan base gets to do this for the next four to five weeks.
It's, hey, we're going to win a Super Bowl.
Everything has changed.
We got a new coach.
We got to, you know, this player in the draft.
Like, that's why this part of the season is so awesome.
And then when week one gets here, we'll see how much of this stuff is true.
Another big question mark, Minnesota.
They got a brand new quarterback.
No, they're going to the NFC championship.
Dan Olavski.
Oh, you already declared that.
Dan Arlowski said they're in the NFC championship.
Oh, the Dan Wagon is started already.
He said they're going to be better than they were last year.
Last year they were playing in the last week of the season for the number one of all seed in the NFC with Sam Darry.
Correct.
Now, J.J. McCarthy out of Michigan, national champion.
Could be a guy.
Never lost Ohio State.
Could be a guy.
Absolutely.
Could be a guy out here in the NFL.
But anytime you're going to be a guy.
a question mark at the quarterback position, you've got everything else
happening around it that's great. It's obviously
going to be scrutinized. But we've learned
that COC can basically make an offense
for anybody, and I believe that's
going to remain true. I don't think the Vikings are going
anywhere. I don't think the lions are going anywhere
even though who
their whole team's different.
Yeah. Jared Goffs there, obviously.
But whenever you talk about coordinators and everything else that's
kind of having to change because you have a success, it's brand new,
I think they're still going to be around. I think the Packers
are always going to be good. How are the Packers going to
be this year. Like I said, you know, it all depends on how Jordan Love does. I mean,
their defense was much better last year. He's a guy though. Is he not? I believe he is. I think
he was hurt for a lot of the early portion of the season last year and probably came back a little
too early and got hurt again. But we've seen like we've seen what he can do in his first full year
as a starter. They win a playoff game. They beat the hell out of the Cowboys. And if they had Brandon
McManus at the time instead of Durs Carlson, they probably beat the 49ers and maybe play the
lines in the NFC championship.
So we'll see.
I think the, I mean, the Packers are always going to be in the conversation, which is
what I appreciate.
Are they going to make a deep run in the playoffs?
I don't know.
I'm hoping so, but I mean, we'll find out week one, what they kind of look like.
AJ, the Green Bay Packers, the weak link in the NFC North?
No, they're not.
But getting back to what Dan said about the Vikings, he thinks if they have an average
quarterback play, they can win the NFC North.
He said if they have average quarterback play, they will be in the NFC.
Their offense is the team is that.
I don't think any teams win in their division with average quarterback.
quarterback. Yeah, are they? No, it lists Ryan Kelly, a list wolf fries, and then he lists Jonathan Allen and Hardgrave.
Yeah, they do have a great team. I agree, but every great team still needs a quarterback to play.
Usassana. Above average.
Average quarterback play in NFC championship. That doesn't compute.
To be fair, I was nine and eight. You're saying Dan Orlovskys was considered an average, I guess, too.
It's a sliding. Guys, he's already going to have a tough weekend. We don't need a pile on.
Remember this is Jared Allen's Hall of Fame weekend. The slow. The slow. The slow. The slow.
motion yeah uh dan is going to be shown a thousand times not that it isn't every single
day but a thousand times this weekend a man so intimidating that other quarterbacks oh here
we go thought the end zones were 15 yards like that is going to be shown so for that
and then now you're saying it's ass tonight i mean that statement that statement's crazy look we
i love dan i love the work that he does i know he grinds he watched the tape he does all these
things but we just haven't even seen j j mccarthy on the field he's already saying
it's going to be a step up from sam don't know coming off a career year and then to say average
quarterback play you're going to get to the nfc championship we just mentioned these other nfc
team didn't even mention the cowboys the niners we obviously the eagles are the rams like we got
teams with commanders quarterbacks like we got like we'll see maybe he's right he's not the only one
kirk herfrey said to say joining us now ladies and gentlemen is uh the man who put out the asinine
tweet uh yes daner oloffsky
Dana, it looks like you're having a great day.
Let me tell you, you're getting your name tarnished out here.
So the tweet you had out about average quarterback play from JJ would lead the Vikings to the NFC championship game has been absolutely cooked.
A lot of the boys up here have said you're going to need a quarterback to play very well to make it to the NFC championship in the NFL.
Would you like to clarify a little bit more here or defend yourself from vacation?
no i don't need to i mean clarify i can i don't need to defend it that much but if we had to ask
everybody the top four rosters in the nfc top to bottom the best rosters
minnesota is unequivocally going to be in that conversation eagles have the best roster in the
nfl probably and then you're talking rams probably in that conversation for the two spot
and then the three spots probably a debate between uh maybe green pay
Maybe Minnesota, Chicago at some points.
Maybe Tampa Bay.
That's insane.
Niners.
You missed the team.
Tampa Bay.
The Niners?
There's no way you're going to say the Niners.
You haven't mentioned the Lions.
The Lions probably put the Lions, dude.
The Lions got big losses.
Big, big losses.
So.
Roster or coordinator?
Rostor loss is not as big.
Then coordinator losses.
Frank Ragnos is an enormous loss.
best center in football arguably two star defensive players are coming off injury
so like let's see what they're like that's the best player on a field they said
well he'll be safe to coming off a big injury so james and
minnesota's line is there's no idea we're talking at the hall we're sitting at the hall
of fame we're outside um dana minnesota's lines is primage are going to be great they're
going to be great.
Yeah, but a quarterback has to play.
Like, that's why the Jalen Hurts thing.
I get it, but, like, had to make plays.
Like, have to.
100%.
I totally agree.
So, to get to an NFC championship game, like, you're going to have to make plays.
Like, you're going to have to make plays.
So I don't think an average quarterback would be able to make the plays that are going to
have to be able to be made.
Okay, let me, let me ask you this.
And let's, let's be completely honest about the whole situation.
That'd be your first time.
Jalen last year.
Jalen Hurts last year from in totality was the above average, below average or average
through the body of the season.
Above average.
I won a Super Bowl.
Body of the season.
All right.
Ladies and the gentlemen.
The body of the season.
I'm sick of it.
Dutton, Bates.
Dan will be able to get it.
I want a Super Bowl.
We also can't say that like average.
This isn't the 1980s.
He said with average play.
average quarterback play.
The Vikings will be in the NFC championship
and then listed every other team
in the NFC North as potentially
second best roster of football.
So it's like, what are they just going to
run rough shot through the division
and then get to that?
I guess Orlovsky is yelling from the beach.
Let me talk.
That's how he gets it though.
That's what he does.
What do you got, Dan?
Dude, I didn't, I asked you
the body of the season.
By hers.
His final two games are talking about that.
We ran the ladies of gentlemen
We ruined his day
Hey Dan, enjoy the beach
You're saying that big of a deal
We'll have this conversation again
You're the best day of love you
Love you Dano
We know what side of the conversation
He's on there, don't we?
But that's what he does
Ty just laid it out perfectly
Okay, because this is how he says
Like, I never said that
Nope, that's not true
Because he lists the Vikings
But then he does all the other teams
In the NFC North
So then when it comes right
He said, no, I thought they were
I thought the lions were
Just as good if not better
Let's move along
We have an Ohio legend
here and we also have
some breaking news I do believe
for the college football season
they have a new song
of the season and a video
to debut it that is absolutely
filthy and we're here
at the Hall of Fame the Hall of Fame games happening
tonight we'll be kicking off football
and in just a few weeks
Texas will be traveling
to Columbus to kick off the
greatest college football season we've ever
had and this
will scratch
you're right where your college football fandom itches it's the ton of a new college
football season college football runs through us and we are ready to start
this season here we go turn his thing back cut let's go make a head how many of you really
know you're alive they pulled me over doing 135 show me the money and I'll show you the
We'll do this time to divide.
Let's go.
You want this, you got that.
You want this, you got that.
Oh, don't wait, watch and walk right past you.
Run fast, run fast, while you have a chance.
Don't speak, let him look at.
He's got it.
Come on.
Can you believe it?
At the buzzer!
Are you kidding me?
Yeah, yeah.
A 12-team playoffs.
We knew it's going to be fun.
You can feel the energy college football has got this one right.
Wow!
It is a brand new roster.
A chance to make it a special season.
The energy's coming back.
Don't wait, watch a walk right past you.
Run fast, run fast while you have the chance.
Don't speak, let them look right at you.
Run back, run back while you have the chance.
This is what makes this sport.
Ladies and gentlemen, the man who created that song, Ohio Legend.
He'll be releasing his seventh studio album in early August.
Ladies and gentlemen, M.G.K.
Hey, thank you for joining us.
Thanks.
Well, this works.
Cool.
Yeah, you definitely work.
You and a microphone's a good thing.
So we're going to make sure that absolutely happens.
I've been a fan of yours for a long, long time.
We were actually going through the World Star shit earlier today.
The freestyles from the car, everything like that.
Your song with GZ, hold on.
Shut up.
Who remembers my come up?
Yeah, I was in a gym probably a thousand times with that song.
So watching you continue to kill it and then change genres and continue to crush.
Cool thing as a day one fan.
Dude, thank you.
I feel like, you know, it's funny.
Did you ever tweet me back in the day?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay, see, I remember like 10 years ago.
You didn't have a lot of followers that.
Yeah, then you took off to the moon.
So I'm a big fan.
I really respect your grind and hustle.
I also was in my head.
I was like, man, I wanted to do this interview with a mouth guard so bad.
And I asked him to give me a mouth guard.
And I'm like, since when did mouth guards look like the things that my babies have?
Yeah, a little, yeah, a little binky situation.
They looked like a binky.
Like when I was, when I played sports the one time I ever did, they just, I would just look like a mouth guard.
Right.
I saw your baseball throw.
You looked athletic.
Yeah.
Well, look.
Looks are deceiving.
No, I saw you dance, too.
A lot of people saw you dance.
I think you look athletic, got good rhythm.
I appreciate the change here.
Now, let's talk about don't wait, run fast,
being the song for college football.
How's that come together, and that video was sick.
I hope you were proud of it.
I appreciate it.
This has been happening a little bit.
It's raining.
It's raining, guys.
It's raining.
It's got a great.
Speakers outside.
Yeah, you understand.
Well, okay, so this song is actually, it's ironic,
because I made this song the day after I played the Kansas City Chief Super Bowl party,
but they didn't win.
And so we had to still play the party, and I was...
It's got to be fun.
Is that uncomfortable?
Yeah.
Oh, dude.
You know who doesn't go to the after parties of the team who lost?
Players.
Players, girls.
Anybody.
Anybody.
Yeah, right.
A lot of suits in there, though.
Yeah.
So we had to go play.
and we were in there for like, you know, and of course I was like the headliner of it.
So like, well, not of course, but I was saying, as luck would have it.
It was like I had to go play like an hour set versus like Cuevo Shabuzi.
They went to go, they got to play like one song and did.
So I was up there for like an hour and I was like, dude, when you're playing songs that,
now for the past five years, I haven't played in front of a crowd that, you know, wasn't a.
Young?
Didn't come to see you?
That wasn't stoked.
So, like, that was, for me, that was the, for sure.
And I was, and there was about four girls, and I'm playing a bunch of songs that I realized in that moment.
I was like, man, these songs are kind of like four girls, you know?
Could have really used a song with testosterone right now.
And I got back to the studio the next day.
And I was like, dude.
Never again.
Never again.
Like, we need something with that we could have played in that environment.
Why did you end up going the way you went?
uh because we're watching the freestyles from the car unbelievable yeah and i know every in the rap
world what happened don't have to bring it up but it did happen everybody says that about you i as a
fan of yours pissed that you left the rap game would like to let you know that felt like you were
making music for me right yeah through that entire thing when you transition to become more of
musician in the entirety yeah why do you end up doing that do you want to showcase musical
talent like why why is that the decision you think yeah i think it's just adding on to it's never
relieving yeah because there's some rap there's rapping in everything that you do for sure i mean i
also think like i'm not dying tomorrow so thank god yeah i'll wait i'm happy here i'll wait
for a while you know and but uh when i look at the artists that i love like uh a bowie or a prince
or i don't even when i think about bone thugs you know like they they they had melody and
harmony and all of these things that are untraditional towards what uh is supposed to be
from them, which as rappers, you just, there's, I think breaking out of the box is inspiring.
And I'm, I think, hell yeah.
I don't know.
I'm just, my, what I was just listening to in the car is a rap album that I'm working on.
Oh, wait.
Okay.
Really?
Yeah.
How, we got bangers?
Yeah, we got bangers.
I can't wait.
I can all wait to hear.
We are very excited for that.
I think there's a, there was a, I mean, Lost Americana, which comes out on Friday.
It was originally.
Thank you.
Congratulations.
It was originally a double album, so at this point.
You're saying that my assumptions that the rap game was over for MGK
were a little bit early and wrong, is what you're saying?
Very wrong.
I was bummed out.
I was bummed out.
Debutt has a question for you.
Yeah, where did that passion for music come from?
Did a little research.
You grew kind of all over the world, speak multiple languages,
but what did that passion for music come from at an early age?
Just not having friends, I think.
My friends being here and my headphones, I like watch.
I would watch TV or watch movies and be like,
oh, I want to be that guy.
Like I remember when I saw Tom Cruise and Top Gunn,
I was like, for sure, I'm about to be an Air Force fighter.
100%.
No question to ask.
When I saw Vagita and Dragon Ball Z,
I was like, for sure, I'm going to become a Super San.
You know, when I saw DMX on top of a bunch of school buses
on Rough Riders Anthem or We right here,
it was one of those two songs.
I was like, for sure, I'm going to
ride motorcycles and become a rapper so yeah i think worked out i think they've all worked out man yeah
that continues to well i haven't gone super saying and i haven't joined the air force but like still got
still got time soon a j fellow ohio fuck has a as far as your career do you've been doing it for so
long it's it's unbelievable but do you have like a plan do you sit there and write it out or think
this is what i'm going to do or you more organic i know different musicians or artists they
approach it differently some people have everything like oh the next five years just when certain
albums are coming out or do you just kind of let it hit you and go with whatever you feel
passionate about no i have a plan it just sucks sticking to it because i because i it's hard though
i mean i got pat being like oh man you hold you you're not rapping and i'm like in my head i'm just
like oh dude i have so much boy come on man yeah i need you i'm getting lazy i hear you i hear you
i got you it's it's there it's present it's coming thank you and i'm a run fast run i'm behind you
I'm behind you, but the plan thing.
But look, when you look back on, when you look back on this, on this career,
it's like a roller coaster where you don't know where the, the drop-offs are.
It's more fun that way.
If you know what to expect and when, you know, it's just a little.
I haven't seen any drop off.
I feel like I followed you from the beginning.
No, no, no.
I'm saying, I'm saying if I make this type of album, it's like a drop.
You're like, oh, I wasn't expecting that.
Oh, okay.
And then, you know, you go up this way or you do it unexpected.
back to turn. I just like, I like being
unpredictable.
Elusive. How's the creative
process? You're writing
songs all the time? Do you
have time that you allot
like, hey, I'm going to go into the woods
and I'm going to the process. Yeah, this album I did
after a four-day water fast and that's why I was
just like, okay, I believe in it. Like this came from a
pure place. I did with my best friends. All the ones that
were like making all those songs with me that you talked
about. Like, you know, we made this
in the living room. Our studio burnt down
in those LA fires. Man.
Damn.
Sorry about that.
We just set the mic up in my house and the living room and, you know, made this joint.
I can't wait.
I assume it's going to be phenomenal.
We can't wait to listen.
I think we just saw the other day you said you drink coffee, drink water, and smoke cigarettes.
It's about it, dude.
Living the dream.
Yeah, super handsome.
Great shape, too.
Always.
So you look like the mannequin, you know, can wear whatever.
You are like supermodel stuff now, too.
Thanks, man.
What a run you had.
I can't do the water coffee.
cigarette thing i wish i got fat i'm a fat which is why i'm a why i need in the gym yeah okay
see that it's for my career too you i got you no i got you i got you i got you i have to start
being less selfish thank you yeah jesus uh tie has a question for you do you have any i don't
want to say aspirations because you've done acting stuff before like you were awesome as tommy lee
and dirt and i remember i mean the uh netflix movie with joseph gordon levin it was kind of like a bit
power but yeah yeah you were right at the start of it yeah like do you cut out any time to like
pursue any of that kind of stuff or is that kind of just like if someone comes to you with like
an idea that you're kind of into you you kind of dive into it yeah i just get nose so many times
i just uh i pursue it i pursue it as much as i can but i get i think i don't i don't believe that
so you're saying hey hi i'm m gk would love any role in your movie that you have they're like
And you know what, MGK?
Why don't you get the fuck out of you?
Yeah.
Nobody's doing that.
It's about that.
No way.
Yeah.
You would want to do more acting.
You can cuss on here?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Wow.
That's fucking awesome.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You go and do your thing.
Breaking the bolt.
You know, we take inspiration from you, brother.
Thank you.
Well, shit.
Yeah.
All good.
I, uh, yeah, I have a lot of aspirations to be in movies.
It just doesn't, you know, hasn't panned out that way.
I'm on universal timing, though, so we'll see.
universal timing yeah like it like it'll align the angels will put something in the works
whenever they feel like we see signs and everything yeah yeah yeah yeah i mean there's been
plenty of movies that come out that i'm like ah i was supposed to be in that i was supposed to be
in that or oh i did auditions for that like sinners i was supposed to be in that oh shit what's
the bad guy uh no the vampire uh they had they had me set up to do the auditions it's the
the vampire the one that's in the house so he's the second vampire the one that the guy comes and
like he eats the family of yeah but he said the in the audition he says he says he says he has to say the
end word and i just wouldn't do it yes and there's i think there is uh from our conversations
for sure yeah that was very that's good hey bring a world care yeah exactly yeah appreciate that
that jingo and chain thing was pretty wild to watch that was most ever uh Connor has a question
for mc so when it comes to acting and like you have any sort of timeline like you don't really
care you're not really you know they're you're saying they're telling you know but you were also in
shows like their series on netflix things of that nature and you also said you know when the
universal lines but like like do you ever have some sort of schedule some sort of like hey this is
the thing i want to do next this is exactly you know what my plan is or is it just kind of you know
seat of the pants it's which camera can i look at this one yeah hey dude i'd like to be in cinema
while I still look young.
Okay.
All right, that was the message of Hollywood.
I would really like to be recruited into a movie
while I still got some looks.
Hell yeah, let's make it.
We're part of an Oscar run here.
Hold on.
Part of an Oscar run here all of a sudden.
Hey, I just feel like my luck is going to be like
as soon as like all my hair just leaves or goes great or whatever.
Yeah, but you could be a great white trash look in.
I feel like that will be like the run.
That will be the run.
This guy was born for this real.
Can we talk about the tattoos?
Yeah.
Because I got my first tattoo.
Cool.
See that?
Yeah.
They've been asked for me to take my shirt off this entire day.
Now's not the time.
I am a sex symbol much like you.
Yeah, you're like a healthy, good-looking dude.
That's really cool with you.
I'm going to put that on my Twitter bio.
Yeah.
I'm put it on my bio.
I got this tattoo here, and I think I checked the box.
I was awake.
It's on a tough spot.
That hurts, right?
That's what everybody says.
Yeah, my wife's padded, so she gives me a little bit of respect because I did this.
Then I'm going to have them give me the drugs, and I'm going to wake up with a full Samoan Oosl.
I can't do it.
Yep, you tattooed people say that, I understand, but I did it.
I did it here.
When did we decide just to do the entire Matt Black on the upper eighth of our body?
That is so much time in pain, I would assume.
Yeah.
And how do you feel now about it all?
You know, for the first couple months, I was like, wow.
You look like a Cretan.
Yeah.
You know?
And I was, for the first couple months, I had to have some friends that just could say the right thing.
Because I would just call.
Looks good, dude.
Looks good.
Yeah, I needed a couple of those because I was like, I would, you know, you'd brush your teeth and you look up and you'd be like, oh, Jesus.
Like, dude, like, okay, so if you were looking at me, what would you think?
You know, I needed a couple.
What are you going to do?
Go get it laser?
Where are you going to go get it laser?
off like i think is that what the realization was hey this is for definitely forever we have
if you're going to get this laser off you might as well just die
yeah there it is right there you can't see the camera but it's right here yeah yeah if you're
gonna get that and it's got worse since then not worse but it's gotten more intense since then so
i think it's hilarious and as soon as i saw it i was like well he has the right body for it because
you're jacked yeah you know you're absolutely jacked am i but basically slim to me cut
To me, I just liked redesigning, like, the human skin.
Go on?
I liked redesigning the human skin.
I thought it was cool.
That's it.
Your human skin.
Yeah.
Yeah, your human skin.
Everything to me, like, sometimes I get bored, and I think everything is an art project.
So I think I was just kind of, like, looking at my body, and I was like, this sucks.
Are you on your phone much?
No.
You read books?
Yeah.
TV?
Yeah, I like TV.
Serieses?
Yeah, I get envious because I'm never booked in any of them, but yeah.
but you're away from your phone a lot yeah when that start uh i don't know i guess i don't know
like when i stopped looking at porn that's fair you stopped looking at porn yeah congratulations man
i think that's a big deal for people there's a lot of like uh that's a huge addict addicts
a lot of i mean we've got a lot of actually former players we've seen so talk about how hard it was
yeah stop jerking their you're right so you the phone was basically just a bopping
device for you and you say you know what now like it's bopping you know what it is you know
bopping your meat okay okay gotcha you know what I'm sorry unless you're just watching just for
cinematic versus oh man dude that that should have changed that scene okay let's talk about the
don't wait run fast is that going to be in your next studio album and are you performing this
throughout the college football season and how much of a college football guy are you you you're
They're from Ohio, I would assume the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Yeah, we love the Buckeyes, dude.
Everybody from Ohio does.
Legitimately.
Yeah.
Cool colors, cool logo.
Yeah.
Cool everything.
Like, it's just cool.
And reigning national champions.
Yeah.
And they spend a lot of money and they're invested and it's good.
Are you going to be doing a lot throughout the college football season?
We'd love to see you.
We'd love to see you.
I'd love to be a part of it.
I don't really associate me much with sports, you know, but I would love to.
We're in a baseball jersey.
Look at you right now.
You got baseball cap on.
Yeah, WW.
Yeah, come on.
Look at us.
The hell what you're talking about?
He's got showtops on right now.
Showtops on right now.
You play basketball in those if you had.
Oh, yeah, totally.
Yeah, absolutely.
You're a big sports guy.
Yeah.
What sport did you play?
Sorry, you said you played sport for like a minute.
Yeah.
I was a tight end.
Really?
Yeah.
Nice.
Wait, Antonio Gates up here.
You could have been him.
I scored one football.
I mean, one, one, I scored one.
That's crazy.
That's crazy.
Don't do that shit.
Hold up.
Hold on that.
Hold that, dude.
Hold that.
Don't feel.
Yeah, let's not put a microphone in front of any of these sports events.
Jesus.
I scored one touchdown.
Oh, my God.
I scored one football is crazy.
You hit a grand slam in that football game.
I'm on a 50-hour migraine.
So how's that happening?
Is that because you're water fasting and don't eat food, do you think?
I actually do think that it's catching up to me because I was in London and I came back for this really quick.
For this?
Yeah.
So sorry.
What else you were doing?
Yeah.
Thank you.
but what else are you doing nothing i just came here for this the hall of faith for for y'all
this is so dumb you're going back you should we should have been given a heads up that you're
flying from london for this why this is a bad decision you remember when you looked in the mirror
and said you saw the thing yeah and said boys need a little motivation about not the biggest
things you should get one of those from the boys today as well i'm i'm happy i came
except for the fact that i just said i scored one football which is crazy i'm gonna get
I'm not to get torched.
We'll dump it.
Nobody will ever know.
Nobody will even know.
Who's your NFL team?
Are you a Cleveland Browns fan?
Oh, for sure.
How do you think the Browns are going to do this year?
You know, it's just one of those things that you just, we love, I love them for what's
inside.
That's right.
The New Jersey and you have the cool.
Those New Jersey are fire, you know what I mean?
The New Jersey's fire.
No helmets, cool.
New helmet's cool.
Got so many quarterbacks.
Maybe that.
We just needed some cool.
Amazing Graham in the middle.
Yeah. Cool mascot. It's cool.
We're doing a collab with them too as well, so that'll be cool.
Merch. Are you going to go break? You've broken the guitar?
Yeah. A couple times.
I don't think I've broken the guitar, actually. I played guitar. I brought them out, like, playing guitar.
You always been a good guitar player?
No. I still am not.
I think you are.
Yeah, I think I am. I think I am enough for, like, what I like that I play whatever I feel.
But, like, by technicality, I'm like, yeah, come on.
Yeah, you're comparing yourself to, like, born-maso.
and like people at the top of it yeah i think whenever you're playing it's great and you always got a
sweet guitar yeah always has some pizzazz yeah i'm here for the looks dude that's why we brought
you from london all right we'll continue digitally this has been us from the hall of fame goodbye
all right we're still live we're still live okay we're just not on tv so now we are currently on
digital esbm plus disney plus tick talk live youtube uh tictock probably really good for you
I assume right think so I don't know what do you mean you think so you're doing all this
shit hey yeah you're doing the shit a lot of conversation about that yeah you're
that pissed you off no no no I thought it was good no I think it's really I think
it's cool I think I but I just I'm still like I feel like I'm in an archaic form of
I guess I just I don't really do stuff for any any opinions anymore so I
I'm just kind of just doing stuff that I like well the TikTok dance took over
everything oh yeah and then obviously you had people that were pissed off about it
saying yeah so mad they were so mad you were dancing on a song called cliche yeah
yeah it was a beautiful thing it was fun to watch from outside looking in yeah it was
because obviously you got to understand that I'm like inside my house dying laughing
of course I'm like dude you guys are dumb yeah made that video with your buddy yeah
it was awesome yeah vampire diaries that's good one we listened uh listened to every lyric of that today
trying to listen to your story you're telling you're a great writer dude thank you yeah that's
that song is cool it literally is about a vampire just wants to go outside in the sun and it's like
said well there's like cool parallel uh you know metaphors like the try to find the silver lining
but it'll kill me if i touch it's cool and you talk about never being able to walk in the day
you know the grass isn't always greener though there's a lot of there's a lot in there yeah
i feel like you're very i really wish i could know what that whatever they're making those like
moaning noises over i wish i could always figure oh beach ball yeah beach ball yeah beach ball yeah beach ball
And pop, beach ball.
Bop in the baseball.
Yeah, there's the Venmo's.
People writing their Venmos on the beach ball, hitting it on the screen.
Yeah, they were head-hutting us a little bit earlier.
That's funny.
It's been a fun time.
You know, we're back in Ohio.
Yeah.
This is a way high.
And also, not only beach balls that we have, we have a mascot, too.
MGK, I don't know if you know this.
The Hall of Fame has a mascot.
And we had an opportunity to speak to mascots handler.
Yeah, yeah.
Is that the proper terms of.
Yeah, he had a lot of energy.
This guy was jacked up about the mascot.
I believe the mascots make this is the goat this is our Goldie the Goh
this is Goldie the goat oh they go your thoughts on Goldie MGK just early
initial thoughts yeah initial thoughts good fit not a bad fit hey how you doing
gonna see you go holy shit you're here we're here it takes a little talk
Goldie do you talk or now I hope not no but I shoot oh no
Oh, that's not working.
Oh, that's pretty good.
I obviously just want a pants, Goldie, it's so bad.
The opportunity is right there.
Normally, mascot uniforms don't have the actual shorts on top.
Oh, thank you.
Okay, you want to pull them up?
Thank you so much.
Floated, float it.
Oh, nice toss.
Oh.
Oh no, is there a safety on this thing?
There you go right there, aim it low, Pat.
Oh, oh, oh, I gotta pump it, pop it, pop it, pop it, pop it, pop it, pop, pop it, pop, pop it, pop it.
Keep going, keep going, pumping a bunch.
Jack it up.
You got t-shirt guns at your show?
No, maybe.
That's the first time we've ever had one, too.
It's great television.
I'm loving your aim.
It looks like it's really going to hurt somebody, so let's keep going on the way you're just doing it.
Lower it.
I run.
Hey, I'm bopping it right now.
That's what I'm saying.
I think if he would have still had his phone, I would have him tighten this thing up a little bit.
That's legit.
That's a great catch.
That's nice.
Okay.
Yeah.
Pump that sucker off.
Yeah, yeah.
Let's go.
Okay.
I'm looking for the next wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns really quick.
We're going to find out.
Oh.
Found out.
Absolutely.
That's great short.
Yeah.
No.
thing sideways did the kill shot yeah I saw you fucking hang yeah okay yeah it's love you
goaday all right go go die go hey geez hey have some muzzle control go some muzzle
discipline I'm a little bit worried about the gun safety here this
all right we appreciate you gody have a great weekend you go on now go thank you goat
go on get down oh oh that's bad way to end on you go on get go
All right, MGK.
What's next for you, MGK?
We've got album on Friday.
Albums Friday.
Thursday midnight?
Is that how that works?
So Friday morning?
It's cool.
It happens right during MGK Day.
So we do like the mayor mates the weekend of August 13th every year is MGK Day.
So we throw free concerts.
Is that the ESD Fest?
It's kind of like the new version of what that was.
Oh, that's sweet.
I remember watching the early days.
Those were fire.
Yeah, they were outrageous.
You're still doing that MGK days.
Yeah.
It's a music festival.
that happens back we kind of just do we just we do it for free this time though so we just
give back and let everybody come through do you remember these days how when was last time you
saw this video put this photo up that's in my little screen here that's you in that car we went
through those earlier today you took over world star for like uh I don't know if yeah
oh yeah what's crazy about that my boy had just got out of jail and I picked him up on the side
of the road I saw him walking on the side of the road and he just got out of jail and I was
like oh I've been here that's literally how it all started yeah it's I I
I think that we invented vlogs.
Just got to put that on the ticker.
You invented vlogs?
Yeah, like me, Soldier Boy, Whiz.
Who did it first?
I think maybe Soldier and then me and then Whiz.
I think we were the first that pioneered
like uploading daily versions of our lives
or like what was happening in our weeks and stuff like that.
Like I had my daughter, I had that.
I had that video, I was just looking at that the other day where it's like, what's up,
guys? I'm about to have my daughter. It's crazy. Awesome. And then now your daughter, it's 2008,
2009. Yeah, now your daughter, you're FaceTiming her that you're on the Spotify, hot, new playlist
or whatever. And it's like, it's cool to watch it. You've been very public for a long time.
Yeah. And you've had like 10 different lives. For sure. And we've learned about all of them.
Yeah. That has to be tough as a human. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I, dude, I feel deflated sometimes, but
I'm also just like, dude, I'm living in a place of like,
I feel very free because I stopped caring about opinions anymore, you know what I mean?
Your success, brother, from Cleveland, Ohio.
There it is.
Shot doctor.
If he didn't quit in one day at football, he could have been in here with that.
Remember when I scored one football?
Yeah, dude.
What a game, man.
This guy hit for the cycle in his first ever football game.
That's right.
Got a hole in one in the fourth quarter.
So fire.
Unbelievable.
You remember that, right?
Rolled a turkey right before half.
With my cricket bat.
Bingo.
Slam dunk.
Football legend.
Straight up.
Icon.
Yep.
M.G.K.
We appreciate it.
You know what it would be so awesome.
As if on the last day of this show, whenever that could be, 20 years from now, anything,
he just lifted up his hat and his hair came with it.
There's a chance.
How do you know that?
when it happened right now that's what he's saying i think i think he's saying that right now we
got to we got a we got a brent michael's situation make a way make a way it isn't the last day of
the show boy oh boy would that make me so happy to just one day there's a chance hey you're uh
pop's gone you go guys you set that headphone down you go like and the it's just that's the final
shot and now my watch has ended this guy is bald all along yeah or has the one has the one
weren't, like, just a very, very, like, just a scraggly comb over.
One or two, Tom, Tomy McHillow.
Or you have the Coolio.
That'd be sweet.
That would be sweet.
Those were good days.
TRL had a run there.
Coolio was a part of that.
And I was going to ask you about Worldstarhiphop.com being, like, such a huge part of your career.
But you've got to go do sports.
It's going to be very similar to what you just did here.
Yeah, same thing.
You can say fuck on there, too.
Yeah, and shit.
Drop off a fucking shit, dude.
I'll go and see what they got popping, man.
Ladies the gentlemen, M.J.K.
We appreciate you.
Thanks for hanging, man.
Do you the best.
How do you know I was bald?
Hey, dude, have some food.
Let's get rid of those migraines.
Cheap meal.
Let's have some Italian, little chicken parm.
Thank you.
Thank you.
All right, he said bangers are on the way.
Oh, yeah. Appreciate it, man.
All right, bro.

appreciate you doing it thank you thank you so much
game. It's thousands of stories in the making. Like that one league that hasn't missed a draft
since the 20th century, or the one that decides their draft order by competing in a legit
athletic combine, or the league where if you come in last, you have to sit in a closet and assemble
a 300-piece puzzle. In the dark. Yeah, that stuff really actually happened. The football may be

I think to wrap up, we should go around table and see who's going to win tonight's big game.
Tonight we'll be talked about for at least 25 minutes.
Tonight's game is going to be an epic battle that we will remember for at least a day and a half.
Tonight we kick off the NFL season in beautiful fashion in Canton, Ohio.
It is Lions versus Chargers.
is Kyle Allen verse.
Traylans.
It is Hendon Hooker making an appearance verse.
DJU.
Uiangolale.
There's gonna be names that we know
from college football fame.
There's gonna be helmets that we know
from NFL lore.
And we'll officially say we're in football season tonight.
Everybody playing in this game tonight
had to report the training camp earlier,
I will mind you.
They don't necessarily love
that they have to play in the Hall of Fame game,
but they understand the honor
is to play and kick off what this weekend is about to be here in Canton, Ohio.
A celebration of those who laid the grounds for the world that we live in now.
The greats are honored here, celebrated here, and live here forever.
And that's why the Hall of Fame game is so damn important.
It's not just about what's happening on the field.
It's the aura of the city in which the game is taking place.
This is football through and through.
This is an awesome time.
And we've been very lucky to be here.
Now, who wins Lions Chargers at Boston Connor?
this evening on NBC.
I'll take the lines. I'll take the over.
Pat, I think it's pretty simple here.
I don't think anybody's really playing.
Three straight overs.
What were you going to say?
Three straight overs.
Okay, three straight overs and Hall of Fame games.
Yes.
Okay, so maybe towards the end of it,
there's a little bit chaos on defense's side.
We got missed assignments.
We're running a ball, maybe, not making tackles.
We're scoring a bunch of points.
Three straight overs.
Some guys playing, too.
Probably three quarters tonight by the fourth.
They're going to be pretty tired
because there's no backups going in after.
Ty Schmidt, do you agree with what Conman said?
I like the lines.
I like a big game out of Hendon Hooker and maybe igniting a little bit of a quarterback controversy in Detroit.
With Jerk golf.
Oof.
Okay.
Maybe.
There's a chance.
You never know.
That is, Foxy, did you hear what Ty was just trying to do to Detroit there?
I know what Ty's doing, okay?
We actually have a quarterback battle for the backup quarterback, so I would love to see Hendon play great so he can confirm that QB2 spot.
Zeno, what are your notes say on how tonight's going to go?
Have you been keeping track?
Yeah, I would take a lot of notes with this other David Baker pencil.
I think charges all the way.
Okay, you like chargers.
I respect that.
Let's go to one half of the hammer.
Cowboys AP tone.
I've been struggling with this one.
I like the Lions quarterback's better, but I think the Chargers have a lot more bodies.
Lions still dealing with a lot of injuries and Harbaugh is the better preseason coach.
I'm going to go with the Chargers in this one.
Okay, you've got the Chargers, Lions, Lions, Chargers, Super Bowl champion, Green Bay Packer,
legend ohio hawk who do you like how you like it i'll take the lions 28 21 on this
oh 28 21 what's over what's over and 33 33 i like that a j didn't even know what the over
under was took you like way over way over it uh de buttch your pick for tonight's
whole of fame game kicking off the nfl season i'm be honest i don't care i don't
we win we win we win because we get some football yeah you don't care one of your
cheats no what i care about is the legends that are going into the hall oh okay about
sternly sharp why i care about jared allen why i don't care about eric allen and then i care
about you know that's it i don't know the last guy sir you're talking to antonio gait i'll be
honest with you i can't hear a fucking that's what i was telling that they were telling me they
couldn't hear anything i'm like brother
Joe Gates, the legends that have been in Shrine Night.
That's what I care about.
Don't care about the outcome of the game.
Like I said, don't listen, Tony.
Don't bet on this game, guys.
Do not battle this game.
Just watching it enjoy it.
If you do better than game,
there is a number of call on that fine print
and any sportsbook app you use.
But have fun tonight.
We got some NFL football.
I think what DeButs is saying is very accurate
of how everybody feels watching the Hall of Fame game,
even the Lions and the Chargers fans.
With that being said,
there is certainly going to be an overwhelming amount of people
that watch this game.
Yep.
Jim Harbaugh told the boys,
no big deal.
Obviously, we're honoring the grades of the past.
Antonio Gates is going in,
representing our team, the Chargers.
The Hall of Fame game will outrate
the World Series and the NBA Finals.
So, no pressure.
You're playing for your life.
You're playing for your career.
And also, more people will watch you in this game
than any other sport
and also maybe any other game you've ever played.
That's just because all we care about is football happening.
Yes.
And whenever you talk about honoring the Hall of Famers,
it's like the amount of interviews
and highlights that are going to roll tonight from football's past,
it's going to be a beautiful thing.
But the game does suck.
Certainly.
Maybe.
It's not really like to build up their...
It's like I'm watching an XFL game.
I'm sorry.
They keep it score.
I agree.
I agree with that, which is why I watch.
There's a guy that has a Michigan Panthers flag.
Saw that.
Right over here.
The only one ever sold.
Rest in peace.
No, new investors just came in.
He's the one.
He's the one, Tony.
Just came into their league.
And I immediately thought to myself,
that's right.
It is the pro full.
Football Hall of Fame.
It's not the NFL Hall of Fame.
Could you imagine if a Michigan Panther made it into the Pro Football Hall of Fame?
Jake Bates.
Yeah, they're putting Cardale Jones.
Yeah, but he's in the NFL now.
Oh, that's a good point.
I'm saying if XFL only career.
That'd be awesome.
Into the pro football.
There's a chance it could happen.
That's a chance it could happen.
TFL too.
That's an NFL too.
Got it.
Or UFO now.

Yes, sir.
This is the chocolate peanut butter cup.
Yes, sir.
This is your highest seller.
What's your biggest seller?
The butter becon is their number one seller.
And we just won a gold medal in it in the LA Dairy competition.

Oh, good.
The ridge mountain
and lower river.
Life is older,
older than the dream.
Young than the mountain.
Mountain
Rolling like the breeze
Country roads
Now that's almost
So I don't love the name
I don't love the name
Oh, but I do love this ice school
It's delightful.
This is very good.
You're going to hear a lot of that.
I thought about if game day was to go to Pitt, West Virginia, which is week three.
I think both teams need to do their shit the first couple weeks so we can make that happen.
I think that would be an incredible scene, obviously, will showcase a rivalry that hasn't been showcased in a while
and deservedly needs a spotlight and attention.
Two football places taking each other on in a big, big way.
Luke Combs actually came out.
I think he was up at Barstow, Chicago.
And he was asked, hey, what rivalry doesn't get talked about enough?
And he said, the backyard brawl, Pittsburgh, West Virginia.
Because I think he's been to both games in Morgantown and in Pittsburgh for that.
So if we're able to get to that, that would be great.
And I thought about it last night.
I was sort of like, there's a good chance we get to that game,
especially if you look at the schedule before then.
And then I thought, how are they going to handle the eat shit pit chance?
Like the ESPN.
Yeah.
I'm very excited.
Let it fly.
Because that'll be the entire.
It's 2025.
It's 25. Let it fly.
I think so, too.
But there will be some suit back there.
I think I can actually see it.
It's not like things are getting canceled anymore.
I can see that guy's face who's going to do it.
Joey Swole.
Huh?
Jerry Swole.
Oh, yeah.
Good point.
And if you put jeans on.
Well.
If you're natural and proud of it, I guess it can certainly be taken away.
Lay off, Sidney, Sweeney.
What happened?
I'm fucking sick of it.
Lay off.
All right?
I agree.
Jesus.
This is on ABC.
I know.
It's on Good Morning America.
That's crazy to think about.
Now, with that being said, no cars crashed?
No, I thought.
No lightning hit the set.
Gunshot.
Nope.
We kicked off Hall of Fame week in proper fashion, and we ended it with
almost having ice cream.
It's a very good ice cream.
If you're in Canton, have some ice cream.
Come home of Hall of Fame.
Enjoy these people.
Enjoy life.
Football's back.
Be a friend, tell the friend something nice.
It might change their life.
We're in this thing together.
We'll see you guys in a while.
See you guys in a while.
It's going to be one.
See your eyes.
Let's see you guys in a while.
See your ass.
A little bit.
Love you guys.
We do love you.
We'll see you in a wall, though.
And yes, we understand that we're taking up all of the days that we had.
Big football season coming.
It's starting to night.
It's supposed to take those days.
You're the greatest people on earth for allowing us to do this for a living.
We can't thank you enough.
Team on me.
Team on three.
One, two, three.
Team.
Goodbye.
