And I know you paid attention to what happened yesterday.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to hit the top five storylines coming out of Week 5 Sunday.
The conversation regarding yesterday's games is going to be, you never know what the fuck's going to happen.
It's not just any given Sunday.
Brian McCarthy, NFL PR, said it's any given fourth quarter.
Now, this one is driven by Ram.
Let's put the first 15 minutes on the clock.
Ladies and gentlemen, let's get started.
Number five, comeback chaos.
We got some stats here from Hembo.
There have been 16 games this season with a go-ahead score in the final minute of regulation,
the most through five weeks of a season since the 1970 merger.
Fitz, Harvard guy.
How many years has it been since 1970?
55 years.
Wow.
That's a long time.
That's a lot of ball.
There have been 10 game-winning field goal with no time left in regulation the most in the first five weeks since the 1970 merger.
Hey, Fitz, Harvard guy.
How many years is that?
I didn't see the stat.
Come on, Matt.
Since 1970, since 1975.
We got comeback chaos.
And yesterday certainly contributed to that.
Six of them happened across the board.
18 point deficit, 17 point deficit, 14 point deficit, 11, 10.
And then obviously Minnesota kicked off the entire day over there in London Town with a magical comeback.
Any of these games fits in your eyes really steal the show.
I saw a tweet that you put out.
And you said that the Cardinals just.
lost in the worst possible way
of all time or something like that.
I mean, I'm an Arizona guy, so I've been a Cardinals
fan for a while. They're getting ready to go up
28 to 6. And
Di Mercado, we did it again.
We did the drop the ball at the one-yard
line. Why do we need to flip it? And it happened to
Indy last week. So you think that
every team is showing
the Indy clip and saying, we don't do this,
we run through the goal line. He flips
it. Was it really a fumble? Was it not?
I don't know, but I sure I'm glad they called it.
I sure am glad they called it.
It feels like it was a potentially a touchdown because he's flipping that thing.
And if it's in the fingertips, it doesn't matter.
It's still in his possession.
Is the tip of the ball breaking the line?
And why don't we have a camera down the line exactly?
On that note to what Fitz said, I think everybody around football and in football said,
who cares?
Shouldn't even be that close.
If you're going to drop the ball before getting in the end zone,
one week after A.D. Mitchell did it.
You don't deserve a score touchdown right there.
Now, he obviously took his licking.
Coach Gannon on the sideline was certainly had his hat.
sideways. He even hit him in the chest at one point, like, can't have it. And then the football
gods blessed the Titans with their first win. Cam Ward's first win. Callahan's first win. I think
we should be celebrating that deep. Absolutely. Big time drive by Cam Ward at the end of the game
to get it done through an absolute dot to Calvin Ridley. This play was unbelievable. Like this is ridiculous
some shit you absolutely now see on the NFL football field. But yeah, to see Cam Ward come down
after last week, coming out what he said.
He's pissed off, pretty much dropped a quarter of the season already,
and for him to throw his dot to his big-time receiver
and then put his team in a position to win the game.
Big time moment for his team and for this young quarterback.
Good for football yesterday.
Come back.
Hey, good for Red Zone channel.
We're all still watching.
That's my team.
Three of my teams are on that list.
Yeah, in a good way.
No.
Oh, no.
No.
Boom, no.
No.
Boom, boom, boom, boom.
Just getting deep down out there.
But I will say, Scott Hansen did a great job on that thing.
Always.
And it was a good juggle because a lot of those games were absolute shite.
Obviously, you have 18-point comeback, 17-point comeback, 14-point comeback, that late in the game.
You think to yourself, this slate of games kind of shit here, just like we said it was.
Yeah.
We thought this was a bad slate.
Turns out it was blowouts across the board.
And then all of a sudden, we had magic there into which end, the goal in the witching hour out there.
And it's beautiful.
The NFL certainly needs that.
Let's go to number four.
headline out of the week.
Jackson Bengals.
Complete ass football teams.
So we'll go straight to the Amazon boys here.
I'm watching the same shit you are.
We'll start with you with the Bengals.
I mean, score says it's a little bit closer.
Okay, because Jamar Chase did his thing.
He walked in backwards, actually, at one point yesterday,
scoring a touchdown.
He's still his thing.
Going into the season, though, we thought to ourselves,
Is that the right way to build a team and win a Super Bowl with the way they're spending the money?
Then the stark quarterback gets hurt with the way you're building that team.
They've looked like ass.
Are they complete ass or just somewhat ass with speaking for the Cincinnati Bengals team?
I'm going to go somewhat ass just because they don't have Joe Burrow.
That's fair.
But I will say this, you could go watch the last three plays of the game against the Cleveland Browns
and four-minute offense where they're trying to secure the game.
Those three snaps are maybe the worst three snaps I've ever seen a physical football
from an offensive line of trying to win out a game.
The entire offensive line is moving backwards, those three snaps,
and the running backs getting hit as he's taking handoffs.
That told me that if we don't have Joe Burrow
and we got to rely on running the football,
we got a lot of freaking issues.
And I think that's what you see.
Is this all on Jake Browning to do something?
And I don't think Jake Browning's built for that.
Ty Schmidt, Detroit Lions' worst team possible to have to play against
in the situation that the Bengals were in,
especially Gary Owen.
Yeah.
O.J. Rural in the jungle.
We told him on Friday.
Hey, this is a bad one for you to be ruling the jungle, we thought.
kind of expected outcome here with the Lions thrashing the Bengals.
Yeah, without a done, I think you actually have to give the Lions credit
because if they would have wanted to, they could have won 50-0.
You know, 65-0-0, could have beat them by 100.
It's just tough.
I mean, we talked about this last week.
This should serve as the, you know, the final warning.
Get the Bengals off Thanksgiving.
We can't do it.
We can't do it. Remind them, remind them.
Is that you guys?
Yeah, can't do it.
Yeah.
Is that you guys?
No.
No, not us.
Okay.
Run up the ladder.
Get them off Thanksgiving.
If it was, then we would pass this cross-front to you to bear, okay?
Tom Palacero, three games without Joe Burrow.
The Bengals have now been outscored 104 to 16.
Now, they started having more, though, at the end of that game.
I mean, there was a lot of piling on this particular Bengals team.
And we'd like to let the who day nation know that, like, you guys are okay, man.
You guys spent the money in the right spots.
That's right.
These are things you can recover from.
What are you laughing?
These guys.
What are you talking about, dude?
You know, I would like to see him spend it in the offensive line room.
That's where I think they should spend a little more money.
Hey, they have tried, though.
We had a graphic last week about them drafting and spending money,
and it's just for some reason.
They've been terrible at it.
That's the problem.
So that is the thing.
You get the wrong guys, wrong group.
What is it?
Since 2011 that they've drafted an offensive lineman, and he's signed a second contract.
I want you to think about that.
14 years since they've drafted an O. Lyman, and he's actually signed a second contract.
Is it scheme building evaluation?
I think it's evaluation.
If you look at it, I'm going to throw myself in the mix.
2011, since they drafted a guy and he re-signed a contract,
and they've let Kevin Zeitler and myself walk in free agency.
So if you can't draft an offensive lineman
and then you've let guys leave
who continue to go elsewhere and win,
you clearly have an evaluation problem
of the priority of the position.
You struck a nerve right there, Pat.
I mean, I'm just saying.
Hey, journalism, bro.
That's real good.
That's a good job.
Thank, I'm excited to do that.
And then let's go to the other team
that people were saying,
oh, no.
That's the whole caboose, brother.
That's the whole.
Yeah, the whole thing.
Obviously, the Dallas Cowboys have a big time day
and we're certainly happy for DAC
without a lot of guys playing
which Debutts is going to hit here in a few moments
I think having a huge win but on the flip side
the tweet was floating around yesterday
and the stat was floating around because obviously
it's a big one. This Jets team
under Aaron Glenn has no turnovers
so he's like defensive mashmore. We got
no turnovers here. We got dogs all
across the board on the defensive side
and then obviously offensively
I think it was very impressive with Justin Fields
was able to do with that football off that guy's face.
Yeah. I hate that sky cam. We watched out a lot
this morning, we'll certainly buy into that a little bit.
What a throw.
But let's talk about Detroit Lions with MCDC.
What were you guys that first year, Foxy?
Started out 0 and 10.
Oh, and then they get a big time win.
Okay, so like instituting that particular culture obviously took a little bit of time.
I think there was even conversations about this guy's lost the locker room.
This guy's not going to be able to do.
And then obviously they find their stride and they go.
With the New York Jets, the market, everything like that.
Is it going to be possible for Aaron Glenn to have the patience or for people to hold on for them for them to develop the culture?
Or what are you seeing from them?
Yeah, it's a tough place.
It's a tough place to play. It's a tough place to not win in. They're the only team that hasn't won in the NFL this year. But I think there is some patience and some grace for him this year. They've seen this rebuild. I mean, if you'd go back to the first game, they took the Steelers down to the wire. Then we've got him doing this deal against the bucks. I mean, how quickly we forget with under two minutes left. They were beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers two weeks ago. So I think this team, they're going to challenge teams this year. Obviously, they're not going to go to the playoffs, but this is a huge culture setting year for Aaron Glenn. And he's got to get a
going. So Connor, actually, big believer, and I don't know if he's doing that to reverse
drinks, but you actually are a believer, even after what we saw yesterday. Yeah,
foreshute a believer, like, especially when you look at the players from the lions that
got much, much better in his defense. Like, I just don't understand why, like, what's going
on with Soss Garner? Like, that's my question of D. But Soss Garner is rookie years,
all pro, all world, unbelievable. And it's just been like this weird kind of, I'm not going to
say falloff because he's still a great player. But when, what is it, DJ Reader?
DJ Reader? He, he was a, he, he was a, he, he was.
He goes to Detroit in the offseason, and now, you know,
Sauce Gardner doesn't have a counterpart on the other side that can cover a guy, you know,
without question, and he's kind of getting abused in five straight games.
The fact that they have no turnovers, like, dude, at least grab an interception.
And I'm not saying it's easy.
That's me simplifying it as a fat idiot, yes.
But I'm saying, like, hey, dude, like somebody's got to make a play, right?
You're the one that's getting paid $120 million.
It's got to be you.
Yeah, for sure.
And that's never really been his game since coming into the NFL.
he's just kind of been one of those
lockdown corners, a bunch of bat downs.
That's one of the things you look at
and start it's like, hey, I want some more
ball production. But through five games,
I mean, you would think something would accidentally
happen. A ball, you're right. A lot of scrimming,
a tip or overthrow, something
at this point. So it's just tough.
Some of it's some self-inflicted negatives,
as Chuck Pagano will call the sins, a lot of
penalties, a lot of sloppy football.
Justin Fields has kind of looked good,
which is weird. They got a lot of
things to figure out. I just hope they do have
some patience to give Aaron Glenn that time,
because we know we are not in the environment where you're giving coaches, you know, a long leash at this point.
Well, and the other thing, too, is, like, we talk about how many offensive linemen went in the first round this year.
Will Campbell, as a Patriots fan, I'll say, you know, he's doing the best.
Bingo, bingo, bingo.
Oh, yeah, but he's got shore off.
From Monroe, Louisiana, baby.
From Monroe, Louisiana, 3-18, baby.
Is that what you're from as well?
We are.
So you guys have small arms there?
What is the thing?
There's no small arms here.
But, no, we have different problems.
Different problems.
But he's a hell of a football player, and he's going to be, I called him to Taylor to Taylor,
of Rabel in Tennessee. That was his tone setter. That's who Will Campbell's going to be for this
team. Why do they make such a big deal on the arm length? Is that a thing? I think it is a thing
in the sense of you need, I always call it your fallback. When you think of playing DB, you play
offensive tackle, what is it that I'm going to have moments where I would get out of control
or I got to be able to survive a down? What is it that I fall back on? Is it my arm link is
my feet, I have great feet, do I have really great anchor? What are those things? So one of those
for an offensive lineman, you've got to think about pushing guys around the edge is your ability to
extend and get a guy around the depth of the quarterback. So length goes into that a bunch.
And so that would really what that long arms comes from. And then you get long arm bull rushes,
stuff like that. You need length. And so I think for Will, he has tremendous feet, a great anchor.
And he's a powerful kid. He can make up for not having the longer arm. Got it. So it's like a long
snapper in my world. You either got to be like perfect snapper and blocker or you got to be a really
good cover guy. There you go. It's got to be one of the, I need a trait. What's my trade?
It's the Aussie. Ah! Absolutely. But his snaps, I think he would even.
say like compared to other guys. He was a tackler.
Bingo. He is a coverage guy. He's a weapon
going down the field. For me,
okay, I'm trying to get hang time. I would like
my snapper to be like, A,
just jugs machine. Breadbasket
every time. Give me a guy. And you don't
even need to cover, but on that note, that's literally
how they're judge. You're saying offense alignment, same exact thing.
Back to your point, though, there's a lot of people that were like
Will's not the guy. Yeah, not the guy. Because
of literally an inch
I think is what people were saying.
But I think most people with a brain like knew that wasn't a real
thing. And to your point, like, you know,
I appreciate it.
He's the Taylor LeWan of this variable team.
When it comes to comparisons,
we don't really do like any Titans players in New England
because they've sucked forever.
He's more of like the wit of New England.
Yeah, I like that.
Okay.
But he got real famous.
You ever seen Fitz in a Tennessee Titans jersey?
We'll talk about it later.
But no, just to wrap up the,
just to wrap the Jets real quick,
Arm and Membu.
Like, it's not as if they drafted bad players.
Like, Armand Membu has been arguably the best rookie, you know,
offensive linemen.
So I don't know what that was going on.
Their defense shouldn't be this shitty, though.
The other tough part about the Jets is they have to face Drake May twice a year.
That's a good point.
That's a good point.
I agree with you, Fitz.
And if we want to really go through it, I wanted to thank you because I personally believe
the only reason Drake May is this good is because he spent, you know, a month or two with
Josh Allen over the summer.
And, like, you can say, like, Vrabel and stuff.
And I definitely want to talk about Vrabble.
But, like, I don't think it's that simple as McDaniel comes in and, or McDaniels comes
in and does well.
Like, I think it's kind of Josh Allen is the one who birthed this beast, if you will, in New
England.
I think you're the one that kind of helped birth that beast in Bubbles.
Wow.
You're the granddaddy.
That's just what I think.
He's the grandfather.
Exactly.
He's the father's father's father.
Yeah.
May's father's,
Josh Allen and May's father's father's right.
That's great news.
Look what you're doing.
He's a great player.
We'll get to Drake May.
Certainly we have to.
But we're saying Jets and Bengals kind of complete ass.
That's what we're saying?
I think Jets less ass.
Current ass.
Really? Yes.
I'm like, never think it just happened right there.
Let's go number three, a team that is not ass at all.
The last play, boys.
These guys won their last two games, literally on the last play.
They have four wins on the season, five weeks, all of them comebacks.
This team is always in it.
Baker Mayfield's mentality has seemingly oozed and radiated through the entire locker room.
Now, granted, they've already had a good, you know, Pillar Levanti David getting a big-time pick.
Shout out to him, because first week he dropped the pick that Vita Vaya would have caught right behind him.
Vita Vaya has been burying him ever since then.
We learned that on our show when Coach B.A.
actually talks shit to Levanté David as well for dropping a pick in week one.
Instead, he makes a diving play.
Unbelievable catch here out of nowhere.
How you do and keep him moving.
And it's not just Baker.
Obviously, this defense gave up some points to Sam Darnold.
Yes, this game was bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang.
But was there any of us that didn't think Baker was going to end up?
If this was a shootout, Baker Mayfield is going to be the one that's going to come away.
and they certainly did debut.
I love this Buccaneer's jib, if you will.
For sure.
It seemed like watching this game,
it was whoever had the ball last
was going to end up winning.
And you create that big turn.
It was probably the only bad play Sam Darno had.
Both of these guys were just spending it.
But Baker's game,
probably the best game I've seen from a quarterback
in a long time.
Like you can just tell he was just locked in.
Emaki Buka dominant,
it's continuing his dominant year,
Jackson Smith and Jigboe on the other side.
Both of those Ohio State boys showed off.
But this game was phenomenal from me.
Before it even started, honestly with these jerseys,
this might be the all-time best jersey matchup
with both of these teams celebrating 50 years.
But yeah, Baker's been dialed in,
especially in the biggest moments when his team's been meeting the most.
Yeah, and for me, luckily, when I played in Tampa,
we didn't do the all-whites like that.
That'd have been tough?
It was good, and the all-wit-law.
But Becky Irving's out, right?
Mike Evans is out.
And I think the thing that's not being talked about enough,
Joshua Grzards, the OC, first-time play caller in the NFL,
what Baker's doing with this offense right now
and helping Josh also has been fantastic.
It's crazy because that was the story like two weeks ago.
Remember two weeks or three weeks ago?
It was like, he's got no tackles.
This guy's got nobody brand new OC and they're just winning.
Now we've just gotten used to it.
We're like, yeah, week five.
This is what the box do, dude.
It's like it's still so early in the year.
How much better can they get with?
They can still get a lot better.
I mean, look at their starting center,
Graham Barton's been playing tackle.
Tristan Worf's just got back a week ago.
I mean, you look at it.
They've been doing this without their group
and now they're starting to get healthier up front.
and Tristan Worf's, and that crew is dominant.
So I think they're only going to get more physical and better up front,
and I think that means this team's going to be even better.
Well, the football gods continue to bless him.
You win in games like this, football gods on your side.
Is this team of Destiny Field down there in Tampa Bay?
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Is this the Cleveland Browns kicked this guy out of town?
He wasn't played on a scout team punt team in Carolina.
They kicked him out of town.
Look at how they are.
He goes cross-country, obviously, with Los Angeles Rams,
puts on a show, becomes the guy in Tampa Bay after Tom Brady.
Maybe we deserve to give this guy a little bit of love.
Is that what's happening right now?
The booted out of the Browns building, Team of Destiny, Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers?
I mean, I think you could certainly make that case because everyone who wants to poke holes in the bucks, they just said, well, this isn't sustainable.
You can't do this over the course of the season.
Four out of five weeks is a pretty good sample size.
And I feel like any time after the year when we look at this kind of, like a team always one year, like they'll be eight and one in one score games.
And then the next year, you know, the kind of water finds a level.
Exactly.
Exactly. So, like, as of right now, it's hard to argue, like, that's just who they're going to be this year.
They're going to perform very well in one-score games, and does that give them enough momentum to eventually, you know, go on a Super Bowl run?
We'll see.
Number two storyline, congratulations to 1972 Dolphins.
Oh, yeah.
That I got it, Goose.
Yeah.
Let the baby go!
Come back!
You did it, Goats!
I'll tell you what, McDaniel.
Oh, my gosh, that walk.
How was that walk, Pat?
That was awesome.
Hold on, you got to kick that left shoe more.
Yeah, the left shoe.
He got his little, his little off-white,
swaggy, that was my kids.
Just flopping around as he's walking.
So sad.
It's part of comeback chaos, obviously.
So sad.
Carolina Panza is not supposed to win this.
So sad.
Hey, he's Xavier League yet, maybe a guy.
So, say.
Wow.
Look at his little tag on his left foot.
Man, he's boned out.
Drag that thing home, man.
That sucks.
He knows.
We all know.
Yeah, but hey, Fawn Ron.
Rico Dado goes for 200.
Yeah, praise.
Hey, Fawn,
Hey, it was a good run.
Everything down there was fun.
And I think that's where he was.
What do you mean?
You saw it glasses off, little thing kicking.
He knew.
Yeah, he knows.
That little tag flapping around was the last straw.
If Stephen Ross sees that, he's going to say,
get this guy the fuck out of here.
He's done right now.
How about I sent that video to you guys?
And I just said, the little tag.
yeah yeah it's the sad as part of the whole fit inside yes it's a barber bopping around and i didn't notice
it until halfway through it's here too bob you know because the way he walks there's a lot of
pizzazz for that tag to kind of just bopopop bop man like we said that we all said it in football
if you're winning and all that happens it's cool and they love it's cool if you don't win they don't
oh let's talk about you down into miami dolphins that place whenever you were down there there's a lot of
allegations about what was going on, Donner. Do you think Miami Dolphins can win? Okay,
1972 Dolphins obviously go undefeated. We are all adult humans who have been in locker
rooms. And in Miami. And to the city of Miami. Is there enough? Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
We'll get that later. That's exactly what I'm saying. Do you think they can win in Miami? Do you think
you can win in Miami? That's a lot going on. That's a lot of distractions. And I was,
it was COVID. One of the years was COVID year when I was there. So it wasn't a lot going on.
There are a lot of distractions down there, and it is an issue.
I think so.
Like, Gumpie needs to celebrate these 1972 dolphins, because I think it's, I think even as
the world continues to grow, it's only getting, because Miami's getting more and more popular
to certain people.
Larry Zonk ain't coming through that door.
It just ain't happening.
Duggo.
They need them.
Exactly.
Celebrate that thing.
And then the number one story in our first 15 that has now ran about 20 minutes or so,
Colt's going to Super Bowl.
Hell yeah.
Come on now.
Now, this says the culture is going to the Super Bowl.
Super Bowl, and I appreciate that, but that's a little humility from the graphic maker.
The Colts are going to win the Super Bowl.
Okay.
Okay, that is the, that is the fun.
After watching this team live with these eyes, boys, okay, these eyes right here, watching this team live.
Last couple of years, we've had okay teams.
Gardner Minchew almost took us to the playoffs, almost won the AFC South in our, in our stadium,
literally right in front us against Houston, Texans, Week 16, or whatever it was a couple of years ago.
We always believe Shane Steichen, we always believe that there was a lot of talent on a team.
There's one position we should couldn't figure out.
You know, I'm surprised you didn't play for us, to be honest.
I don't know how that happened, how that didn't happen with the run that we were on.
Danny Dimes with us is awesome.
Jonathan Taylor, I think he only rushed for like 66 yards yesterday, three touchdowns.
He's the best version of himself for sure in this offense.
The offensive line, they're finally speaking the same language as quarterback.
Remember, there are some stories.
Fitz, I'd like to ask you about this as well.
That's my dad that Pibben just tapped up in front of the suite.
Tim, Tim, obviously, in there.
Matt Ryan, whenever he got here, allegedly, him and the offensive.
the line just couldn't they weren't seeing saying the same they're speaking different that's the
yeah that's the whole thing it's hard that's why we had matt ryan come in because we thought he
was like a super smart football guy this is what we need because we got enough talent everywhere
we just need a quarterback and for some reason they couldn't speak the same language
danny does come in here mastered the offense understands everything puts him in the right
position and he's spinning it i mean it is when we need it he's very rarely missing i think i
saw a miss one time yesterday. It was an overthrow
out of bounds. Every other ball that comes out of
his hand is like catchable. Tyler Warren
might be the best football player, period.
Just go ahead and put that right there.
He's gigantic. He's tough and he's always
open. But our defense is legit as well.
I had a chance to chit-chat with
Colts owner, one of the big three, Carlyersay.
Nice. How's she doing?
About her time on the sideline.
Okay, journalism.
She came in to see Chuck
Corgi.
It got into a big race, which we'll
certainly cover here in a matter of moments.
It's one of my dog, Chuck, was in a corgi race called Stumpy
yesterday.
But Carly Ursay came in to see Chuck, you know.
She immediately goes, whoa, he's big.
And I go, easy.
He's got a big race coming home.
Yeah, we're just trying to get him to survive.
It's shocking, though.
We should lay that out.
It is shocking when you see a dog that fat was such small a.
He was triple the size of every other competitor in the Stumpy Stampede.
But Carly, I said, okay, I have to ask you.
Me and Carly don't really, I have not really talked to Carly much.
I was on the way out while she was kind of in
we're not the same age.
Caitlin and I same age
and we kind of knew same people so I got a chance to have
there. Carly I've never really talked to her. I'm like
hey what are we what have we got out of this?
Do you know the calls? Like are you at the point
where you know the calls? She's like I kind
know what we're looking for.
She's just charting though. She's charting
plays basically. Charting plays. Charting plays.
Just to see what's going on trying to learn
as much as possible. She said some of the coaches
have been a little bit against it because they
think that she's like they think I'm going to hold it
against them or like interject or something like she's like I'm
I'm just literally just charting plays there.
And I was like, tell me about the defense.
She goes, lose defense versus the last defense we had.
So many more words, options, choices, so many more things for our guys to do.
It's like there's a call, and then there's like two adjustments on top of it.
She's like, that's the biggest takeaway from me is like lose defense versus the other defense.
It's like, there's a lot of options.
And then you give these guys more options.
They utilize them.
So she's like been excited to kind of watch it kind of grow.
And then she told me exact words were we think with the way.
way Gino throws and where it's coming out from,
we should be able to get a couple today,
is what Carly says.
Wow, she knows, bro.
She's dialed.
Oh, yeah.
She knows her ball.
Incredible.
Six.
So I said that to the entire suite, I was like, Carly leaves.
And I was like, oh, Carly Orsay just said,
the way Gino's throwing it right now,
we think that we got the guys that are going to be able to get some hands on some balls,
and then we got some picks because we didn't get any last week or whatever.
She was like, so we need turnovers.
So the first one happens, it's deflection pick.
I'm like, I look over at, well, I'll be fine.
It's called this thing.
So it's like, everybody is all in, literally from the top,
all the way down to everybody is all in for the Coltrade now.
And we've always had the players.
We've always had the building.
And now it feels like we finally got the quarterback fits.
You're a journeyman, kind of your thing.
We're seeing this resurgence of guys that kind of have to bounce around a little bit.
Danny Dimes is doing it to an entire city right now for us.
He's doing it for an entire city right now as we're kind of going.
Why does that happen?
Is it the experiences teach you stuff?
is it just getting to the right system? What are your thoughts on? Yeah, fit and timing are so big in this.
And I think even with Mack Jones right now in San Francisco, we had them the other night.
It's the same thing. So this is very sustainable for Daniel Jones as well.
Stuyken's a great play caller. He showed it in Philly. That's why he got the head job here.
And he has the weapons on the outside. The thing that I love about him, he's got Pierce, who didn't play yesterday.
He's got Pittman. He's got Tyler Warren, all these big dudes. And you see every ball that comes out of his hand,
it's drilling guys in the face mask, which is huge.
The thing I want to go back to you, though, have you ever been on a headset?
No.
It's nasty.
I mean, these coaches, I've done it once, and I said, I can't do that again.
The shit that they're spewing about the players, like, I don't know what she's hearing,
but I guess they've been winning, so it's all been good, but it can get really negative on that head.
Yeah, I used to have the coach who would say all the time says, listen, guys,
whatever you guys are saying down here about us, we're talking the same shit about you down.
It's coming up, it's coming down.
Don't worry about it.
But I think, too, your points about going on the Super Bowl, who's the defensive
coordinator. Lou and Arummo. Who beat the chiefs to go to the Super Bowl with the Cincinnati
Bengals is the defensive coordinator. Lou and Arummo. So everything I was just saying there about
Carly was saying, you were nodding your head. Yes. Obviously you had a lot of time. You know
Lou pretty good. Yeah, we've gotten to spend some time with them on Thursday nights before games.
Just being around him is energy, his passion for the game. And I think just really he's one of
these guys that he kind of has chess piece guys that he's like, I need this player to be able to do
these things for these specific calls that I want. You look at some of these simulated late
pressures he brings. He has a guy type in mind that he needs. And when he puts
together. You look at the investment they did in the secondary. Now he knows, these are the calls
that I can call in these kind of situations when I want to play chess with people. And I think you look
at it. He has. He's been in that playoff run with the Bengals. He's got that experience. So that's the
guy you want calling plays when it's playoff time, baby. Kenny Moore's coming back. I mean,
we're not even at full. Speed on the defense. We got a real defense. We got like a real defense.
Grover Stewart and Buckner down there can fight anybody. Layatu Lato gets another pick.
They got him dropping out. He's finally finding his. There was a guy. First time here
of this guy. Got some quarterback. Cross is blitzing and getting to the quarterback seemingly
every other play. Defense feels like it's potentially championship run and then the offense
is matching it. Oh yeah. It's a crazy time right now for the cold. Complementary football.
Only thing I worry about is us losing our kicker. We lost Spence. We lost Spank. Is it for the
year? Is he out for the year's been that been confirmed or no? So I don't want to
it. It didn't look good. I don't want to be the one. Okay. Well, we'll say it. No, I'll say.
Because it's going to get out anyways. I think it was multiple ligaments for tort. Oh, I think.
Yeah, from my understanding, just because I apologize, left middle of fourth quarter to be traffic.
You're good.
Okay, on way out, I get asked if I'll go say what's up to him.
Obviously, in the middle of a moment, he's Indiana kid from Indiana.
So, like, I think he maybe knew of me or my existence.
One in there, I talked to him, spirits, seems like he is obviously on the right track,
but obviously he's going through a lot of shock there, too.
This kid has been great for us.
He's already hit a game winner.
He's got a massive leg.
where he got hit. I mean, he is, especially after the years past, we've had a couple of misses
in some big moments. He, local kids, he's 24, so we think he'll be. He'll bounce back for sure.
But that's going to suck. And I told him, like, I didn't want to be the bear of bad news.
I'm like, yo, what you're about to go through is about to suck. Like, you need to know that.
But on the other side, you're going to be mentally tougher and even better, and you're younger,
and you got a special talent. He's a really good, he's a good kicker. We've been lucky to have
him here. And he loves the Colts. So it's like, we like those people around the building.
And a ton of faith in the training staff. Like, Rigo just tore his Achilles, you know,
And he's back punt and football is better than didn't or anyone.
When he does.
Yeah, we do like the training staff.
Yeah, it's great.
Like, frog, like, you know, it's good.
So that would be the only thing that I'd be worried about because this has kind of been the year of the kicker,
whether it's been hitting bombs or kicks getting blocked.
It's been a storyline.
So I think it will continue to be a storyline.
But the other things, the defensive pieces, I feel like with Lou, they'll only continue to get better and more dynamic.
You see a lot of free hitters.
Blackman stepped in.
He got a big pick yesterday.
So I love with Lou.
and then what Danny Dimes has been doing in this offense.
Like, it's one thing to kind of get early in the year.
You can catch defense all guard, maybe some gimmick shit,
but they're doing like real, like this is a high level,
high operating offense.
You don't know where 84 Warren's going to be.
He could be a fullback.
He could be split out wide.
He could be in the core and the formation.
He's a weapon, kind of like Grunk always open,
regardless of a guy's on him or not, he's so big.
Pitman, you talked about his big body.
The mismatch that Josh Downs can give you in the slot.
And then Jonathan Taylor playing at an MVP.
level right now. So we got all the pieces from top down right now. We can go on a real,
real run, especially with a division that, you know, looks like we should, we should be in the
driver's seat the whole way.
AMC South is real jugger and all. Don't you ever get twisted?
They got a big win. They got a thing. Two things we didn't hit there in the top five,
you think? Two quick things? Two quick things. Let's go. Dak had a big, big day with down
a bunch of old linemen, down his top receiver, CD Lamb. Turpin was actually out as well,
but he had a huge kind of MVP caliber day. He's been another quarter.
quarterback coming off a year where he was hurt.
He's playing top, top-notch football.
You didn't know what to really expect coming to this game
with all those pieces being down.
But he raised his level.
Shout out the shot.
He's calling the plays, putting him in good situations.
And then a great, great kind of feel-good story.
David Montgomery, Monty, going back home,
having a passing touchdown in a rushing touchdown
in front of his sister, Kiki,
who got in a terrible car accident.
So she actually been paralyzed a little bit over a year ago.
So this was the first game.
She got to watch him play live.
since that terrible accident.
So it also, we talked about obviously his game,
and it's the 14th game where he and Gibbs
have scored a touchdown in the same game,
which is the NFL record, which is insane.
You remember whenever Foxy was saying
they weren't calling him Sonic and Knuckles anymore.
What was it?
What was it? What were they calling them?
They were calling them ass and cheeks,
and I didn't like it one bit.
The internet is a cruel place, all right?
That's messed up, dude.
I didn't like that at all.
That seems like a long time ago now, though.
Long time ago.
That was a bad week one for the Detroit Live.
As bad as it gets.
I'll tell you whether we were at a moment.
much different place now than we were in week one
there for the Detroit Lions. I'll see you in the
Super Bowl, Pat. Colts Lions.
I don't know if MTV wants that
right now. Okay, I don't know if you want that
right now. He'll fight all your guys.
Yeah, but once again, do to Carly, exactly. We win.
Yeah, but unfortunately then
Bennett, Na-N-N-N-N-N-N-Hawks out.
Yeah, you're right. She doesn't want that
glass to break, brother, because then Kaylin
and Casey are going out. Yeah, so
Three-on-one. Joining us now, ladies
gentlemen, is a man who might pick up where we left
off. If there was any crumbs to a story that maybe
we didn't dabble upon, he will certainly
keep us in line and also maybe tell us
some shit that we've refused to cover because of
our ignorance. Ladies and gentlemen, senior NFL
insider for ESPN, a Michigan man.
Adam Schaefter.
Yeah.
Oh, shirt and die. Whoa.
Professional. That looks good.
I was dressing up for Fitsy and Big
Whitt. Oh, thanks. Of course.
Appreciate it. All right, Jeffty.
Hey, Chefty, they're on a road trip,
across the country in the back of a very
nice bus. I believe this morning was the first
time Fitch chose to shower on it, if I'm
reading the tea. Yeah, I'll go.
You said it was going to be nice
in there, though. It was really nice. Hot water, good
air or good water pressure. Yeah. See, it's
not bad. Not bad. I love the bus life.
He doesn't travel with shampoo and conditioner
so I didn't get to shampoo and conditioning. Oh, we got
some for you here. We'll certainly give it. Now,
to be clear, we didn't buy it. People have sent us that
in the past. We do not know if it's going to work or not,
but we assume that it's okay. Probably
some starter company. Yeah.
call it like mophead or something.
Right. It's like something. It'll work.
Harvard, you get it. Some kid created this in his garage.
Good to see you guys.
Schefter, what did we miss in there?
I know you were sitting around listening to a lot of what we were chatting about.
The Coltsker and the Super Bowl, the 1972 Dolphins, Undefeated Street continues.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are outrageous in what they're doing.
Jets and Bengals, not complete ass is what the Jets and Bengals.
Half ass.
Half ass is what they say.
And then come back chaos yesterday.
If you want to hit any of those or anything we left out,
out. We'd love to hear it, Chafee. Well, I don't know how much hit on the Denver Broncos,
a team that going into yesterday had a record of 1 and 112 going into the fourth quarter when
they were down by 14 or more points. And yesterday pulled out the second win in 114 games when
they were in that spot. Now, I covered John Elway for a lot of years. There weren't many more
players that were clutch than John Elway. And even he didn't do that when they were down 14 on the
road in the fourth quarter. And yet, Sean Payton has now done this twice the last few years.
He did it yesterday in Philadelphia in the Eagle Stadium on the road against the defending
champs. It's pretty impressive. And on that two-point conversion at the end, they didn't even
hesitate. They got right into that two-point conversion. And there aren't a lot of head coaches
across the league who would call for two points on this particular play right here, down 1716
and go for the lead after the fourth quarter. That was pretty bold to Sean Payton.
But that's how confident he was that they would make it.
And the Broncos pulled through, and they left after the game to go to London.
They play the Jets there on Sunday.
So a big matchup for them.
Yeah, the Broncos coming into the season where obviously a lot of people's Super Bowl darlings,
they play an incredible Indianapolis Colts team.
You know, and I think a lot of people maybe weren't given the Colts a lot of credit at the time.
So I think maybe the Broncos were maybe judged in a certain way that they might not be judged the same exact way today if it was to happen.
But they get a huge win.
And obviously, that's the $1972.
dolphins get a chance to celebrate, especially after the bills lose last night.
