Beautiful people.
And welcome back to our humble abode, the thunder doe.
On day two of NFL free agency, March 10th, 2020.
It's a great day to be alive.
We can't thank you enough for allowing us to do this for a living.
My name's Pat McAvey.
The show is named after me.
I talk a lot, but it's not just me.
The toxic tables here at Boston Connor and at Ty Schmidt.
Conman, big day in our eyes because we got a countdown and it's on.
Yeah, exactly.
184 days to NFL football last year.
Two of the top five teams in Free Agency
were the Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.
So all that money spent yesterday, it does mean something, okay?
And we got more money to spend today and a lot of good players.
They say you can't win a Super Bowl in March.
It's like, well, actually...
Hold on.
Seattle Seahawks certainly helped.
Ty. What's your big takeaway is we look at day two of free agency frenzy?
Yeah, I'm looking for some of these teams who really didn't do anything yesterday
and maybe, you know, dip a toe in today.
Packers early this morning, Benjamin St. Juice, cornerback.
Oh!
Because they had to release the guy that they signed last year on free agents and friends.
They gave a bunch of money to.
So we'll see some of these teams who weren't really involved yesterday.
There's still a lot of good players available out there.
Let's go to one half of the hammer.
Don.
Cowboys AP tone.
Feels like there was maybe some odds movement yesterday with money being thrown around to these players.
Yeah, three teams within a division, their odds got a lot better.
The Titans made a lot of moves yesterday.
They went from plus 750 to plus 600.
The Raiders went from plus 4,000 to plus 2,200.
Wow.
Is that the biggest movement of all?
All time, I think.
And then we had a jump.
We talked about it yesterday.
The Carolina Panthers were in last place in the NFC South.
They jumped the Falcons to go from plus 425 to plus 370 with their moves yesterday.
Let's go to 9-year NFL vet.
One of the best-dressed guys on TV.
By far.
Certainly the coolest.
Ladies a gentleman, big brain owner of everything, DB, good, bad D, D.
D.D., Darious J. Butler's here.
D.
He talked about Carolina Panthers and what they did with the odds.
Anything surprised you yesterday?
And what are your thoughts on what happens today?
day two of money bags being thrown around.
I'm surprised the Panthers didn't jump a little higher in those odds.
I would like him as a favorite.
Obviously, they won it last year, and I love what Young is doing.
We always talk about them being a good football team.
They got a lot better yesterday.
They got the best pass rush on the market with Jalen Phillips.
Then Devin Lord, who had an unbelievable year in Jacksonville.
You knew they weren't going to give him the money he deserves.
I love to see it from Dan Morgan up there in Carolina.
He's really spinning it right now.
Yeah, they certainly are.
And obviously, it's not just us here.
We're incredibly lucky that a lot of the,
ESPN icons have taken the trip out here to beautiful Indianapolis, Indiana for this free agency
frenzy celebration. Let's head over to the free agency fun zone with Shreggs and Orlovsky. Boys, it's
great to see you. It was nice having dinner with you last night. We appreciate your company and your
aura. You guys killed it yesterday. Great to see you day two. Shregs, he just mentioned Jalen Phillips
right there. He wasn't the only eagle that disappeared yesterday, Shrig. Yeah, the Philadelphia Eagles lost
quite a bit. You're on. You're good. Are we good?
He lost quite a bit of talent yesterday and free agency.
Nicoby Dean, Jalen Phillips, obviously read Blankenship,
and then the receiver, Jahan Dotson.
I got Eagles fans all over my timeline, all over my phone, saying,
what are we doing?
What do we do?
Calm down, deep breath.
March and April is what we call Howie season.
Howie Roseman, the best general manager in football season, S-ZN.
Remember, they have to eventually get new deals done for Cooper DeGine and Quinniann,
and Coyne-Mitchell and Nolan Smith and Jalen Carter.
And oh, by the way, there might be some moves in their holsters.
So Philadelphia Eagles fans, I know it feels like a crazy, crazy offseason of departures with Jeff Stoutland.
And of course, all these players, remember last year, you lost Milton Williams, you lost Josh Swet.
You still had one of the top defenses in the league.
This is part of being a football team.
When you're really good and you draft really well, there will be teams that come poaching and rating and taking.
Trust your general manager.
It is how we season.
If you win, there's enough to go around the same.
Before we get to you, Dano, we do have to have a.
Mammus Islands.
Mm.
I don't like that we're doing it.
The exciting whites took over football for a bit.
Mm-hmm, yep, nope.
Had no idea that two Caucasoids could do that at those positions in the NFL.
People would get them confused.
Mm-hmm.
Hey, white guy playing a position you're not supposed to play.
How's it going?
And white guy would have to say, it's the other one guy.
Now we'll never get to hear the exciting mics of the exciting whites continue because one of the whites is leaving time.
Rest easy too, the exciting whites.
And we and I personally were like, thank you guys for your service to football.
Broke down a lot of barriers.
Trow blades.
One of them made the whole everything DB team.
He did.
Yeah.
Jackie Robinson.
Is that going to be the only time ever?
No, no.
If you got one in the draft, might be first round.
Okay.
Look what these exciting whites did.
It's over now because $24.75 million was sent to re-blankenship from Nick Casario, who said, I need me one of them.
Congratulations on hell for a run in silence.
I miss you.
Love you guys.
I never forget you.
Okay, Dana, let's get back to you now.
Now what's your kind of thoughts as we hit day two of free agency frenzy here, Dan Orlovski?
And we'll never see.
How do you follow that?
I don't know.
Maybe.
You just turned your bike off, I think.
I think you just turned your bike front off.
I think you just turned it off.
I think you just turned it off.
I think you clearly pushed a button and turned it off.
It's on now.
It's been on the whole time.
All right.
Doesn't Oregon have thinament, Dylan?
Yeah.
That's the potential first round.
So there's hope for it.
They're saying handheld.
He was 4-1.
What?
That's what they said.
I don't.
Chept has got receipt.
That's what they said.
We're all surprised.
I'm going to let you know.
You can believe it though.
Go white lightning.
You're burning out of this track.
That's what they were saying.
Sorry, Dano.
Today, though, big day for agency, frenzy more money and thoughts like that.
Anything tie in from yesterday or today for you as you have to follow all of that stuff?
I would be very much so looking forward to seeing today where Hendrickson lands.
Trey Hendrickson, I don't think that
pitting him to just some of the obvious
teams is necessarily the right way to go.
I think that there's teams that just could be lurking out there
that Chicago Bears, the Buffalo Bills, the Rams,
the Eagles, because they obviously lose Jalen Phillips.
So like where Hendrickson goes,
and I'm surprised that Romeo Dobbs,
the Packers receiver hasn't gone yet.
I think Romeo Dobbs is a absolute number one wide receiver.
He's not in that number one elite group.
Yeah, but a guy that you can like put out by himself
and go win on routes.
And so I would love for him to stay in Green Bay for their offense.
But if you're New England, it's like, man, how do we not try to find a way to get Romeo
Dobbs into this offense?
Because I think past game-wise, he's awesome.
I appreciate all of those thoughts.
And I think today is going to be active.
We still think today is going to be active.
Dobbs would certainly get some dub some places.
And who knows what the market is for all parties that are still available after the first wave
of free agency goes, a lot of punters getting money early.
That's right.
get a punter, need to get a punter. Let's go ahead and talk about the massive amount of money that was actually spent yesterday.
2.86497 billion dollars in contracts yesterday. Top five spenders, shout to the Panthers down there, 172.5 million.
And the Saints make it place. They're at 193 or 192.5 million, depending upon where you read at.
They have real contracts now. They are now at the point of kicking can down road,
and can down road, now no longer having a road to kick it down.
These deals have to live where they have to live.
So congrats to everybody that got paid yesterday by them.
They're expecting you to be really good.
And also, Shuck, you're going to have to do this.
Commanders, 209 million.
Wow.
Wow.
What a day.
Tennessee Titans, Burgon, said,
we've got a lot money.
We're going to have to spend it.
Bob Salah's happy about that.
And then the Las Vegas Raiders,
$281 million plus yesterday in full contracts.
They're certainly got to be a lot.
undergoing a brand new era.
Tom Brady, maybe a little bit more in charge.
And Fernando Mendoza at the home.
Let's head into the man who broke all the news yesterday,
senior NFL insider for ESPN, Michigan man,
and maybe a little bit more on all these deals.
Adam Schaeftery.
I like we got a little air in there,
Shepardee. Door open. Smart.
It's an honor to be back in the Thunderdome for a second day
on the nightline set here in the corner room.
Love being here.
And yes, the room is cooler.
the Wi-Fi seems to be working better.
And we're going to have some action today, Pat.
We've got some names still available.
Wouldn't be a surprise.
We saw a Romeo Dobbs deal done during the course of this show.
We've got Rashid Walker still out there.
Kay LeVon Chasin still out there.
We've got Chig, a concour, the tight end,
Rik Willen, the cornerback, Leo Chanel,
Braden Smith, Joanne Jennings, Wyatt Teller,
a lot of good players.
The quarterbacks, we would expect movement,
but not yet,
because neither Kyler Murray,
nor Gino Smith officially have been released from their teams.
So they are not allowed to do anything during this time right now.
And they can't until they are released.
Obviously, people waiting on Minnesota to see the Vikings and Kyle Murray will see if and when that happens.
And Gino Smith will see what happens once the Raiders release him.
Okay.
So, Schaefter, explain a little bit more about the Kyler-Murray Wednesday thing.
I know the new league years then, but everybody's acting as if their contracts are up right now.
Why is it such a big deal with Kyler that he has to get released?
Are they waiting to trade him still?
Are they hoping somebody wants to?
Why is this still happening?
He has, I think it's a $16 million bonus that's due on the third or fourth or fifth day of the league year.
The Cardinals are not going to allow that day to come to where they have to put more money into Kyler.
So they can wait as long as they want up until that point, and they have not released him,
but they will and are expected to release him before that happens.
Now, the new league year begins.
I'm so confused.
Why is that confusing?
Why don't they just release him?
I don't think I understand what's going on because they just screwed him basically.
Yesterday, you know, potentially Miami.
What if Miami was interested or Atlanta was interested or anything like that?
This is strictly just to hold on to hope that he gets traded?
In the event that somebody happens to step forward, what's the difference in their minds
if they release him today, tomorrow, or Thursday?
Like, they don't know that they might not get a call from some.
Hey, hey, we'll give you a fifth round pick for Kyle or Murray.
All right.
Now, is that going to happen?
no, but they're holding on to him until that.
And then they'll release him.
And then, of course, Minnesota will see again if that happens with the Vikings.
Do they know that that's not going to happen over there?
Or are they holding out hope that somebody will get super desperate in one of these quarterback
needy teams?
You never know how the league operates.
They're not expecting it.
They're not counting on it, but you never know.
It's a one in a million shot, but it's not costing them anything to hold on to him for
another day or two.
They don't feel like they owe Kyler Murray.
They paid them all these millions of dollars anyway.
a difference. Yeah, agreed, I guess, and they're also going to be paying him in the future,
which is why teams are going to be able to only have to pay them like a million bucks,
like what Russell Wilson did in Pittsburgh. They're paying them $36.8 million this year.
They could hold on to them up until the deadline if they want before they move on from him,
which they will. Okay, so they're going to do that just in case. You never know what's going
to take place. And also, yeah, we get the final saying in this entire. Yeah, it would have been
nice being that first wave, huh? Some of the teams would have had a really nice setup,
knowing the Kyle of the Murray is their quarterback while they're pitching other free agents to
potentially come join their team. We all assume that he's going to Minnesota. Well, I think that's
the logical landing spot. Now, we'll see what happens. You don't know what other teams could step in.
But yeah, if I were betting today, I would bet Minnesota. Okay, that's a fascinating situation.
We appreciate you, Shafti. We'll continue to follow along with your Twitter account. Maybe we get a
glass break. Maybe we get a Shafti tweet. What a time yesterday. I know. So fun. It was a good time.
I really enjoyed yesterday. I also enjoyed, obviously, the boys in studio. We mentioned it there at the top.
were some big spenders and $2.8 billion in contracts giving out,
the Raiders kind of go ahead and go for it.
And they had a lot of money.
Obviously, they made more money after they move on from Max Crosby,
who's now a member of the Baltimore Ravens,
which is crazy to think about it.
Yeah.
And is Lamar Jackson going to beat Dan O'Lovsky?
Yeah, I think so.
I think so.
Yesterday was kind of the last straw.
Dan, have we gotten to read on what those emojis were?
Have we gotten a read on what that smoke, man?
Is that him wanting to smoke with you?
Have you got any messaging from anybody?
No, I haven't.
I hope not.
I want no beef with Lamar or any NFL player.
Yeah, but maybe smoke with Lamar, though.
Yeah, that'd be cool.
You weren't mind doing that, right?
It's kind of your thing.
It'd be good for the socials.
No, no, no.
I married a girl that maybe has that
as a little bit of inner past,
but I don't necessarily get my toe in that water.
Out your wife.
She certainly used cannabis.
Her mom's a parrothead.
Her mom is a july.
Jimmy Buffet.
She's a hip.
So she wants
to the left,
fins are right.
I understand what's going on.
We're having a good time.
I think
Lamar Jackson is sick of your shit.
I think so.
I don't know.
I don't have a good read on it.
I don't know what the emojis are.
And once again,
Lamar Jackson,
one of the greatest emoji users
in the history of the actor.
Oh, yeah.
Okay, we all know that.
We all have a buddy.
We all have a lot of those.
So him kind of touring with you right now,
fantastic news.
We appreciate you, Dan.
Kyle Murray, though,
with the Vikings, Dan.
Feels like a natural.
fit feels like the only fit. You think they're just waiting for him? Is that kind of what
their, is that what their mode is? Yeah, I also have learned that when Shifty kind of says something,
he's not just saying it. He's always leaving tea leaves and breadcrumbs around. So I don't
necessarily think it's a locked natural fit, though. I would say you this, in Minnesota's
offense, they just want the quarterback to play point guard and allow the offense to play caller
Kevin O'Connell to star. I think that Kyler is such a dynamic player and dynamic
athlete that he naturally wants to be the star. And so trying to fit that, you know, trying to fit
that kind of style of play into that offense is going to be, it's going to take some time. I do think
that Kyler is really good in the play action game, the movement game. He obviously has plays
like this or he could just make something out of nothing. So that's a plus. But in this offense,
that originated years ago with Mike Shanahan and then when Gary Kubiak and then Kyle Schenhan and
Shaw McVeigh, like, it's always been an offense that has elevated quarterback specifically
that maybe aren't the most physically gifted guys as far as, like, athlete run around, make a play,
big arm guy.
It's always elevated those guys, a lot like a Sam Darnold.
And Kyler hasn't necessarily needed that style of offense.
So I think Kyler, like, it'll take some time for him to have the discipline to play in that
offense.
Yeah, the mental acceptance, if you will.
Maybe getting cut from a team, though, while they're holding you up, is.
a moment that he can maybe have that process of just saying, hey, let me buy into what this
guy's pitching and I can kind of cook. Do you think they started doing that type of offense because
there was a drop off in quarterback play? And they're like, hey, if we have the system and we just
get a guy that can throw a football, which we know every year there's going to be a guy that
can throw a football, we should be able to have success consistently. Like you, while you talk about,
I hear you thinking yourself, I wish I was in one of these offenses. I was. Oh, and 16?
No, I got that offense.
My start, yeah, Houston.
I was in Houston, but Shabby started every game when I was there.
Oh, is that the pick six machine?
Yeah.
That was after I left Houston.
Yeah, he threw like eight straight games to pick six.
He was in his like 20th year.
He was so good.
I mean, he was unbelievable.
Let's not talk about.
I mean, it's hard to throw that many as well.
I did that.
Yeah, he's a stud.
I'm not saying you.
So you're down there with Shabby, got it.
So you've been in that offense.
You loved it.
That was where you're supposed to be, you think?
Yeah, I mean, that's where like I feel.
Oh, that's why he hates on all these.
That makes sense.
If Mac Jones was in Brock Purdy, you remember this is the whole.
Sam Darno, guy who can't really, that's why, because he thinks to himself, man, could you imagine George Cadillarder?
This is a right.
Trish on MVP, yeah, you may have.
Oh my God.
Is that it, Dano?
Is that you, that offense?
No, I just think the offense is awesome for quarterbacks.
Okay, okay.
Sure.
You would be great in there, too, though, right?
You would be?
I wouldn't have been nearly as good as the guys that are doing it.
Oh, yeah.
Hey, I like that.
Very humble.
I don't believe him.
Did you see him taking credit for...
You were physically talented, brother.
We watched you do the quarterback carousel down into the Pro Bowl.
That's right.
Domenade.
Showed up and dominated.
It was nice to see that, Dan.
No, no, we're losing it.
You're doing something with that, Mike.
You need to stop it.
Okay, speaking of,
Kyleor Murray's going to the Vikings maybe, says Dano.
It might not be an absolutely perfect fit,
but they'll have to wait, I guess, for the Cardinals to decide when they can let him go.
There's also plenty of other free agents that could sign today
that we'd say, wow, didn't know that person was available,
or wow, didn't know they were going for that much.
Let's talk about not knowing somebody was going for that much.
30 million a year to a center is quite a message from a franchise.
The Las Vegas Raiders sent a huge one in signing Linderbone, and they weren't done there.
They continued to spend.
What are your thoughts on what the Raiders did, D-Bud?
And if you're Fernando Mendoza and you're the fan of the Raiders,
maybe, huh?
It's hard not to just buy in and be like, maybe we do have the pieces.
Already got Brock.
I already got Ashton.
I assume there's a lot of dogs on the defense that we don't talk about
because we only can talk about Max Crosby
because how damn good Max Crosby is.
Are the Raiders about to have a little bit of a,
uh-oh, we're an actual football team per time in their life, you think?
Yeah, you look at this graphic and all up there,
all the way from left to right, it's a bunch of pros,
good pros, not only on the field but off the field in the locker room.
These are guys that are respected and been respected by their teammates,
and you talk about Lindybaum.
So you're shoring up the interior of that pocket for who we're assuming to be
Fernando Mendoza at, you know,
whichever inevitable point he jumps up to the top of Danos board.
I think he'll be the number one pick in the draft to go to Vegas.
So you sure up that interior of the offensive line.
You help out your running game, obviously.
Quitty Pay, first round pick here.
Didn't quite pan out how we thought he would,
but definitely a lot of still a high ceiling from him.
Quay Walker and Dean,
you sure up the linebacker court right there.
Taryn Johnson, A-Raw was on here when we talked to him.
He mentioned him being one of the best football players in the league,
and he allows you to play a little more nickel than a lot of teams do so.
all these signings have been great right now.
You've got to win in March,
then you obviously have to win in the draft
if you want to be a competitor once the season comes.
I love that they're spending.
They have to spend now with the way our market is,
with the way the NFL operates,
there is a floor and there is a top,
and they had a shit ton that they had to spend.
But it feels like they're making the right decisions,
and it's not just the cap that they're able to move.
They're set up pretty well for the drill.
What is this with the Raiders?
The Raiders had a bunch of money for free agency,
seemingly made good moves,
even paid somebody a brand new $30 million
that nobody expected for a center position.
I mean, I think it was like $12 million more than an X-plusis interior offense alignment.
So, I mean, that's a huge, huge jump for whenever you talk about a position getting paid.
But if you need it and it's going to make you win, we're for it.
I think that's the difference between us and people that analyze all the salaries and numbers and everything.
We're a big like, hey, if this is going to win you again, what's the purpose?
Yeah.
None of the money matter.
Protections.
If you're winning quarterback, like, oh, everything.
30 million, they overpaid for him.
It's like, we don't know that.
We have no idea if they overpaid for it or not.
If he ends up being the glue that pulls together an offensive line that can protect Fernando
Fernando Mendoza and block for Ashton Genti, it's like all of a sudden you feel like you got the
offense figured out. Then on defense side, you're going to have to make some plays.
Well, bring in some vets over there on that side that have made plays as well.
And then you think about free agency being good to him.
It's not just that.
They got draft season coming in.
They got some real stuff tone.
Yeah, they have 11 draft picks in this upcoming draft.
Two in the first round, thanks to the Max Crosby trade.
And then two in the first round next season.
So that's four first round picks in the next two years.
so you can either take four really good players
or package those to move over.
Oh, we're bundling.
You could bundle.
I mean, what happened a few years ago?
The Texans bundled.
They did the thing.
They get C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson.
It turned that entire,
remember how shitty the Texans were before that happened?
Oh, my God.
It's on fire.
They're a trash house.
Yeah.
I mean, we've seen it happen a lot recently.
I mean, you get Burrow and the Bengals turnaround.
You get what happened with the Patriots.
Like, it's the Raiders fans should feel really good and optimistic right now.
I feel really good.
because Las Vegas obviously good home for football, good home for the NFL.
Feels like their stadium is sweet.
We obviously like making trips out there.
And if their team's good, first time, long time, that'd be great for them.
We'll suck for Max Crosby.
No doubt.
Yeah.
But he'll say it contributed because obviously the picks and the money that he was able to get a busy a part of it.
But it's like it does feel like we're entering a new era of this, not that they haven't been used that before.
But they are entering a new era that looks like it's going to have a good chance in this entire thing.
Well, and the pieces, like the quarterback's Tony mentioned with Drake May and Joe Burrow.
like even those teams missed pieces.
The Patriots whole line needed time.
The Bengals all line still needs time.
But you mentioned Linderbaum.
Their left tackle, Colton Miller,
he's been kind of a stalwart staple there for a little bit.
One of those guys,
kind of the offensive Max Crosby, if you will.
He's just been solid.
Nobody really talks about it.
I've never really seen him in a big moment.
And then you think about like a wide receiver one.
Sure, they don't have a wide receiver one.
But Brock Bowers, I mean, he's already caught 100 balls damn near in the season.
So that'd be unbelievable.
I'm not so sure Tom Brady hired Pete Carroll on purpose.
tank the team. I'm damn near thinking
now at this moment in time, Brady
brought in Pete Carroll like, hey, this guy's
going to run our franchise into the ground
and then we're going to get the first pick. Hey, that's
close to sillionaire. That's Queens Gambit.
Boom, boom, boom. Tom Brady might do it. Especially with those
glasses. We're seeing them in glasses a lot. Yeah, like
cool. Yeah. A lot of this one right here.
Like Bradley Cooper and Wardogs. Yeah, and I would
like let him know, hey, Tom, keep doing
it, dude.
Look good, Tommy.
I saw him snapping cards.
Oh, yeah. Brayton packs.
breaking cards at the UFC thing.
It's like, live your life, Tom.
Live your life.
Tom's playing flag football in America now.
Yeah.
What?
Bet he's pumped.
Yeah, smart.
He's playing flag football in America.
And I'll tell you what.
He's taking it serious.
He better be.
What is your problem?
Why are you laughing like that?
I read the same thing.
I just hadn't visualized, you know,
him taking a couple drawbacks until right then.
I'm like, wow.
That's Tommy.
He's owning an NFL team.
So obviously he's dialed in.
Let's head over to the free agency
Fund Zone Shregs. The Raiders
want the time. They want ham. Did we expect
that yesterday? What team surprised you most?
We did. The Raiders, they spent a lot of money
and I get a little prickly when people say, well, they overpaid
for the center, Linderbaum.
And it's like, no, that's the tax you have to pay when you're
a crappy team. I call it the crappy team tax.
And for years, the Jacksonville Jaguars had to overpay
to bring guys in. And guess what? Linderbaum
wasn't leaving Baltimore for a million dollars more.
There's a guy from Salone, Iowa.
Ty, am I saying that right?
Solon, Iowa, who lived on a farm in Iowa and then comes to Baltimore.
He's not going to Sin City for the same amount of money to play for the decrepit Raiders.
No, you have to pay more, and that's what they did, and SpyTech had the assets, and he does it.
I also want to clarify it's Linder Baum, not my people, Linderbaum.
Is that right?
Are we okay with that?
That is correct.
There's a lot of Linder Baum's happening.
It's Linder Baum.
That said, this is, this is a lot of them.
Yeah, Bob.
That said, this is a bunch of pros.
DeButt said it best.
You pay because you have to bring in actual professionals.
And last year, they were a patchwork team with guys like Devin White and Jamal Adams and Eric Stokes.
And these are guys who were veterans, but guys who were kind of castaways from other teams.
Now, these are players that other teams wanted.
And they're choosing to go to Vegas.
I find it fascinating that they did spend that much money.
As Adam Schaefter said yesterday, the most money ever paid to an interior
offensive line minutes to a guy
that Baltimore Ravens did not pick
up his fifth year option less
than a year ago, but
they value what that is, and in Rick
Denison's offensive line room,
and when you talk about Clint
Kubiak and what they do with the running game,
center is an important
piece. Agreed. Essentially, it's
Crosby for Lindemam and a bunch of different
guaranteed money that goes both ways, and we'll
say, we'll see where chips fall, but they're
going to get Fernando Mendoza an all-world center,
and they did, and yes, they paid a lot,
but don't tell me they overpaid. That's the tax
when you're a crummy team. Fernando Mendoza, good
call. Go ahead, Dan. Fernando.
Tell me how perfect Fernando Mendoza
is for the Las Vegas Raiders
and why you love him as the number
one overall pick. And while you
are watching the entirety of the
college football season, not just the first
four games. Listen, I got through four
games. I watched seven to nine NFL games
on Monday morning before I get on get up because
that is what it is tasked me. You've done through
the draft process. I've only been able to see
eight of Fernando. But what you have
seen of Fernando thus far. I think you've got
the Big Ten championship game now. The Big Ten title game, yes. I know, and those college
football games run a little slower than these NFL games. You're able to watch
overnight, but I understand what you're saying. I completely agree with that. But with
what Fernando is as a player from what you've learned thus far, what do you like about
what Las Vegas has done with the Raiders? And why do you think there is a chance for
immediate success maybe over there, Dano, for a rookie quarterback? Yeah, so first I
want to touch on the Raiders element in mainly Linderbaum and Jalen Naylor. Okay.
one, Linderbaum, in this style of offense, there's a couple of things you have to be as a center
with Clint Kubiak's run game offense. One, you have to be unbelievably athletic in space. That's a
requirement. You can't just be like this big, almost stiff, but still good, but stiff offensive
linemen. Space, okay? You've got to be able to run and pull. Think of like Chris Myers back in
the day for the Houston Texans, almost like a Kelsey, not that extreme, but like that, okay?
two you've got to be incredibly smart.
The center is a guy that so often is telling the offensive line like, hey, no, we're not going to that linebacker.
We're going to that linebacker because that safety dropped down weak side.
We're changing our landmarks.
You don't want to tax Fernando Mendoza or any rookie quarterback with that.
You want him to be able to, we call him Siri, C-I-R-I.
Call it, run it.
Don't think.
We're just calling this play, run the play, okay?
You got to have a center to do that.
Naylor is a big deal in relation to Mendoza because Nailers are a speedster, a guy that can go down the field,
make big plays with his speed, okay?
The thing that I would probably say
that Mendoza throws the best
outside of the back shoulder fade
is the deep ball.
You go to the Big Ten title game,
it's the big post down the middle of the field
that kind of swings the game, third, second half,
and the goal ball.
I do think he throws those really well.
So I like that.
In specific to Fernando,
through the Big Ten title game,
he's phenomenally tough.
I think that his ability to not allow
what's happening in the game
to impact what he's going to do on the next play
is a great quality.
It's a great quality.
I've talked about he's very good operating the RPO.
He's outstanding throwing the back shoulder fade.
I think he's very physically tough and mentally tough.
And then he's been clutch in all the games that I've watched
late in games.
He has had to make a throw, not all the games,
mostly the games.
He's had to make a throw that was meaningful,
and he's made it.
And so I would still tell you...
Here we go.
No!
That was good, though.
You don't have to do that here,
however.
I would still tell you that on tape,
I think Ty Simpson's tape is more impressive.
Have you watched the entire season yet?
No.
Okay, enough, period.
Just watch the football season.
Let him talk.
You asked me the question.
I'm answering the question.
He did say yesterday,
Ty Simpson against the Wisconsin backups was dynamite.
You know, Ty Simpson's Wisconsin tape is great.
I'll say this.
I'm being dead serious.
If Ty Simpson was six for the judge,
would sprint to the podium at number two.
Oh, I wish.
Okay, 6-4. I agree.
If he was 6-4, that'd be cool.
How tall is Fernando?
6-5.
If I was 6-6, I'd be starting opening day for the Yankees.
That'd be so cool.
No, you wouldn't.
Dude, would you imagine what I would have done to Kirschol?
Could you imagine what I would have done to Kirschol if I was 6-6?
Yeah, exactly.
You'd put three inches on me.
45 pounds, maybe?
Judge you who?
Yeah, exactly.
What we're saying is, Dad, you wasted your height.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
You had a great career.
11 years, 11 years.
12 years of the career.
But on that note, can you please
not talk about the college quarterback
thing until you watch all the games?
You literally just asked me about it.
No, you're the one that said.
Is it time for me to say this?
That's what you said.
That is what you said.
No, you said, talk to me about Fernando Mendoza.
Simpson's tape is better, though?
Simpson's tape is phenomenal.
I'm only through about...
Triggs.
I think Thanksgiving.
Triggs!
Enough!
Stop doing that, Triggs.
I do think that Mendoza will be the first pick
because I'm not a big old dummy and everyone is saying.
Treeltschray.
No, fine.
Peter Shrake.
All right, let's get out of the fun zone.
Thank you, Mr.
Hey, tone.
No, don't.
Don't.
Tone.
You didn't need to do that.
I didn't need to do that.
Sorry.
All right.
Thank you from the fun zone.
Oh, you.
Sorry, Dan.
I didn't mean.
It's a fun fiery zone today.
It is.
There's a little sauce down there.
I'm too out of shape for you to be coming at me here.
Ladies and Joe,
yeah, he's in much better.
I mean, he put on a 14-year-old kid who's never seen a basketball
on a hoop display earlier that I've never seen
in a full certain time.
I mean,
big fog.
I mean, full dripping and sweat, Dan Rolovsky.
Oh, basketball.
Oh, another one.
Oh, baseball.
I mean, we are, it was unbelievable watching him.
Dan, we love you.
You two, Shregs.
We also love the man that's joining us right now.
He's heading into his 14th season.
He'll be a first ballot hall of famer, we think.
Yeah.
Who knows?
You know, should be a first ballot hall of famer.
And that should mean something.
Because that means that means that you have separate.
yourself from your class, from the sport, and from everybody as being one of the pillars of our league,
a person that needs to be remembered whenever the story of the league is told.
This guy is certainly that just an Ohio football folk who's gone on to great things with incredible work ethic.
And now the whole world knows him as Taylor's football, man.
Ladies and gentlemen, Travis Kelsey.
Yeah.
Let's go!
How are you, dude?
Making another run at it, baby.
Making another run at it, baby.
Making another run at it, and the Chiefs are making moves, Pat.
Yes, you are.
The Chiefs are making moves.
We got Brett Veets and Andy Reid going and getting the Super Bowl MVP.
You kidding me?
Kenneth Walker is now a member of the Kansas City Chiefs,
which is weird because every good player seemingly always ends up at the Kansas City Chiefs.
Would have never expected the Super Bowl MVP to be a Kansas City Chief.
But let's talk about your energy right now.
Hey, first of all, love to see how happy you are, dude.
Love to see how happy you are.
Not only when we talk to you, but New Heights and everything else,
you're clearly enjoying the hell out of your life.
We are happy for you.
Tell me about this energy you have for coming back to football, though.
Did you ever think about stopping this year?
Feels like it wasn't a real convo this year,
maybe as opposed to some years past.
Yeah, I'm not going to lie.
It was pretty short and brief,
and the Chiefs knew where I was the entire time on it.
I think you always need to take a step back.
You always need to take a step back, breathe,
let the emotions of the season settle down
and see where the body is and things like that.
But, man, I'm still in love with this game.
I'd still love going to work, putting on the pads, grinding and out and just, you know, playing the game.
And I think my best opportunity was playing for the Chiefs yet again and running this thing back with Pat Mahomes and Coach Reed.
And got my guy, Eric B. Enemy, Coach Bianney me back.
There's a lot of pieces in Kansas City that I just, I absolutely love and I can't wait to get back in the building with him.
I'm pumped to hear that as a football fan.
The entire football world is excited to watch you continue to play football in this historic career that you're having.
I think whenever you're on New Heights talking about the enemy with your brother, you said,
I can't wait to see him back in the building.
And I don't know if you saw our response immediately afterwards, but it was like,
well, what's he doing?
Is he stocking the building?
Why he?
Yeah, the thing is, once I started Dayton Taylor, I started understanding what Easter eggs were.
You started kind of just placing those things all over the planet,
and everybody starts to catch on.
Yeah, that was a slip-up.
I didn't even realize I said that.
Okay, it was a good Easter egg, though, if you were doing that.
Let's talk about, can we talk about Taylor for a second?
Of course, always.
I never want to do that strictly because I want you to know that we respect the shit out of what you've done for football.
We also appreciate the fact how you're representing football to the world, to a lot of people.
So we love you for that.
Never want to take advantage of the relationship you're in.
But every time I talk about you guys, I think you've heard me say this, like two greats together is good for society.
feel like you two can motivate each other. Now, I know she's biggest star on Earth, so I'm not saying
that I think you are same as her. Yeah, right. We all understand a situation with Taylor. You do too,
which, yeah, exactly. You do as well, which is why I think you were the perfect person for her.
But you watching her do her thing and continue to move and move and move and work, is that certainly
helped you think through this process of like, do I still want to go? I'm getting older body doing
that? Do you think that is kind of waiting? Without a doubt. Without a doubt, she has, we share the
same love for what we do and we've had this you know fortunately we've had this desire since we were
kids in our in our selective professions and it's just it's amazing to see her keep going to the table
keep finding new things to write about keep finding you know new melodies and things like that
and on top of that still seeing her have that love and joy in what she does and yeah of course that's
motivating for anybody to see let alone uh you know my fiancee and and knowing that uh
I'm going through something where I'm trying to figure out exactly what the future holds for me.
Something like that definitely motivates me to say, you know what?
I'm not done either.
You know, I still got some ideas in the back of my mind.
I still got some juice left to play this game.
So without a doubt, Pat.
How has the training been going?
You look good.
Hey, jaw looks good right now.
You're glowing.
Yeah, we got this thing nice and shaved up.
No, I think I've been having a few too many garage beers right now.
Never too many, but, you know, I need to get back into the gym and really, you know, hunker down and get back to the craft, man.
I think the biggest thing that was coming back was that we've got to be even hungry than we've been before.
And talking to Pat, talking to Coach Reed and the guys, it's a pretty, there's a lot of dog mentality right now to get this thing fixed.
And that mentality itself is already kind of motivating me to get to where I need to be during the season.
A hungry chiefs team is obviously something that we have seen in the past have great success.
Go to dynastic level.
And then now sports books still have you guys up high.
But national conversation is like, you know, especially with what's going on to the AFC.
Max Crosby just wanted to the Raiders.
Yeah, Raiders in the division.
Oh, my God.
The Raiders just spent 280 million yesterday.
Oh, my God.
Jim Harbaugh's got McDaniel out there at the charge.
Yeah.
The Broncos bowed next.
That was just an FC championship.
Oh!
The chiefs are assed.
That is kind of the notion.
You guys have kind of understood that, heard that.
Did you expect that?
Like, is that something that is kind of motivating the boys over there?
I assume it would have to be.
We're seeing what the world's doing right now.
We're seeing how everybody's reacting.
But we know we got the nucleus in Kansas City.
We got some big hitters in Kansas City.
And we got Coach Reed.
we're never out of this thing.
Well, we know the division's getting pretty competitive across the board.
And, you know, that's only going to make it for us to get better throughout the seasoning
and be the best team we can be at the end of it.
Proud of you, man.
We hear it all, though.
We hear it all, though.
Oh, I like that.
I like you guys got a little pettiness in there.
Yeah, need to keep a little pettiness and spite in there.
You want to keep grinding, you know?
Maybe some Easter eggs in here, yeah.
Yeah, maybe we feel a little high school when we start doing some pranks, you know what I mean?
You're the man.
Thank you for joining us, dude.
Congrats.
Always.
Always.
Appreciate the time.
Good to see you guys, man.
Always, always tuning in.
Can you please post the renovations that your mom's doing?
Please.
You already know.
I didn't even know she was doing these things.
If she needed a guy to come, you know, screw some door hinges in,
she could have just called me, but I guess she's doing a big, massive renovations.
What a time.
These two Ohio boys.
Okay?
Just Ohio.
Kyle ball player, baby.
Mom's renovation at house, TMZ breaking news.
Biggest news of the week.
What a time to be alive.
You've earned it all, brother.
You've earned it all.
Good luck to you guys.
And we'll have some garage beers to your 14th year.
You're the man.
My man.
We'll see you guys.
Ladies a gentleman, to go, Travis Kelsey.
Yay, Travis.
Okay, so let's head to the free agency fund zone.
A man who travels always out to Kansas City, you know,
and has a lot of close connections out there.
Shregs, were you hearing the same thing about the chiefs that Travis just said,
basically a bunch of hungry dogs out there.
That's why they made this decision so quickly.
Well, it sure seems like everyone else
has moved on from the Chiefs, and they hear it all.
They really do, and it starts with number 15
under center. And as he's rehabbing
and getting back, he is watching and listening
all. And I think that is the under-known
or undersold piece about Patrick Mahomes.
He's got that same Michael Jordan chip on his shoulder
where hears and sees it all, and Bradford Smith might
have said, what? I'm going to create it in my head,
and we'll make sure that we'll be able to get that last
dance done. It starts with Mahomes.
goes to Kelsey, but around that entire team, when you lose Trent McDuffey and you lose Jalen Watson,
and then you get all these people saying, well, the time has passed, are they a Super Bowl threat
or are they going to miss the playoffs again? There's a lot of pride there. So you see Kelsey with a
glint in his eye right there talking about Eric B. Enemy coming back. There could be a different
energy in that room now, a little bit more intensity, perhaps, is what Eric Bienn of me is known for.
And Andy Reid still believes he's the best coach in football. So as a fan of football,
watching that, I'm excited to see Travis Kelsey back. If I am a Kansas City Chiefs fan,
I am jumping through the screen excited to see that he's got that energy and that passion and that
motivation. And clearly there is a chip or maybe a mountain on the shoulders of that Chief's
kingdom right now. I think for the Chiefs, too, it's a different era. They're no longer the
hunter, hunted to the hunter. You know, like there's teams in the AFC that have candidly over the
last two years been better football teams. I would sit here and tell you that Broncos have
last two years. Now, two years ago, they weren't at the end result better, but I would say that
because of the close wins, you would sit there and be like, the Broncos were probably the better team
over the last two years. Houston's the better team. Obviously, New England's coming along.
Jacksonville was a better team. This is what Kelsey wants to hear too. Keep going. I like this.
But that's the truth, you know, and losing, I think they lost three starters out of their
secondary left year with Watson, McDuffie, and Brian Cook.
now they sign Alohi Gilman.
So it's just a different version for Kansas City legitimately.
We've talked about it for years, maybe 18 months to two years.
I think it's a different world now because they get to kind of relish being the hunter rather
than the hunt did.
I'd also say this.
They got to play a different style of football on offense.
I think they finally came to a realization this year like, oh, we can't just rely on Patrick
all the time to do the most wild things and bail us out.
like, yes, Kenneth Walker has to carry the football.
They've got to get more balanced.
They've got to get more physical.
They've got to run the football.
Yeah, I like that, Dan.
Thank you for the breakdown.
Kenneth Walker coming over there is obviously a massive ordeal for them.
I think Travis Kelsey is probably pretty excited.
You know, we talk about them being the hunter and not the hunt did anymore.
Still the odds are in favor to win the division.
AFC West.
Draft Kings currently plus 165.
Chargers make all moves.
Okay, sounds good.
Broncos, you want to the AFC chain.
Okay, sweet.
Raiders.
Oh, that's funny.
281 million.
a new quarterback, that's cool. Do the chief
still play football over there? That is what the
sports folks are saying. Sports folks are
saying you're going to have to show us. Because the things
that have been said about the chiefs over the last
two, three years have been, they don't
win game. They're not pretty. They don't win pretty.
It's very close. It's kind of an ugly style
of football. And we always leave
saying, are the chiefs
are dead. And then there's a couple of us
that will stand up on a microphone
and say, I know it didn't
look good. And I know
they couldn't complete a pass somehow for
three quarters, best quarterback of all time.
They get a win, we move on.
The Chiefs is still the Chiefs.
I will say that loud. And then it gets
loud. And I'll tell you, last year,
I actually thought, I said, this team isn't
the Chiefs ain't the Chiefs anymore. But I think a reloaded
squad now with Kenneth Walker,
it sounds like the enemy back in the building is very
good for Travis Kelsey and that Kansas City Chief's team.
Patrick Mahomes is the quarterback. It's like,
maybe the sports books are actually feeling how I'm
feeling, which is why not a motivated
hungry squad over there in Kansas
city debuts. Yeah, we shall see, and I was right there with you for a while last season up to the
point where I had to put that exclamation point on the whiteboard. I didn't want to do it.
But I saw that they were dead and I saw what was going on around them. We talked about everything
with the different teams building up. This is why it's so tough to, you know, maintain a dynasty.
And they've been a dynasty already. Can they go on another run and win a couple more?
Absolutely. With my home still there? What would be his timeline? Will he be healthy week one?
So it's still a lot of questions right now for the Chiefs. But if, if he's a lot of questions right now for the Chiefs,
But if Mahomes healthy, Kelsey's healthy, you mentioned you're losing three guys who got paid in free agency.
Those are three good ball players in that secondary.
You still got a great coaching staff.
So all the pieces are still there, but it's tough to go up there and get back to the top.
To Dan's point, I think it kind of is shocking.
Like the last two years, it was the offense's fault.
The last two years, the defense has been top five both years.
And that's Spags.
And yes, they did lose three guys out of secondary, but I think Spags will probably have the defense right again.
But yet, Patrick Mahomes has been their leading rusher.
He was their leading rusher last year, and over the last three years, I believe, is their leading rusher cumulative.
So, like, it has to change.
It has to be defense or better on the offensive side of the ball, and it all starts with the offensive line.
They drafted left tackle in the first round last year was pretty good there, but they still need to get better on the offense.
There was a bunch of stats that they were dropping on the Sports Center Free Agency countdown with Laura.
They were dropping, like, Patrick Bowman has been a leading rusher for this, the average yards per rush and this and everything else, everything happened.
It was like a bunch of information that was coming out quick.
And it's like, that is why everybody was saying they were ass last year.
And then once they finally did just kind of get eliminated, which was the case.
They were playing for nothing last multiple weeks of the season.
Travis Kelsey's ass still out there.
Yep.
Okay, that was year 13 for him.
With Gardner and Chris Alutican.
Boom, still going for it.
Gardner almost got him a win over Raiders Chargers.
I forget which one it was.
It was very end.
It was about a yard off, you know.
This is a difference between like Patrick Mahomes and who was the quarterback.
It was stick.
What was the guy?
Chris Alutica?
Yeah.
Was that who it was?
He was like this far off from hitting Travis for like a fourth down,
either the fourth quarter or something like that.
But if he completes that, it's a game winner.
The Chiefs win some wild thing.
And it was like in that play, it was the depiction.
It's like, that's the difference between like Mahomes right there and a guy that's not going to be on the team.
Because Travis Kelsey was playing these games that didn't matter at all.
Travis Kelsey was potentially risking his entire offseason being surgery and rehab.
With everything he has going on in his life at this point with wondering whether or not he was going to play another year,
not only did he play in those completely pointless games.
Okay, there are pointless games.
Granted, you get paid to play in all of them.
But the Chiefs were playing in playing those games,
and he was maybe done, I think that bodes well for the culture,
especially if he's coming back.
He says he's had a couple garage beers, maybe some whiskeys.
You've seen me on a microphone everywhere that I go,
I have to have a good time.
I'll go down to TG. Yale.
Maybe have one of them involved to drinks.
What do they call them?
What?
Transfusion.
Didn't really know what it was.
He said, I'll get back in shape, though.
But him making that announcement early,
first day of free industry frenzy, I'm coming back,
helps the Chiefs out a lot.
which is what a lot of the Pittsburgh Steelers fans are saying about Aaron.
Like, hey, if we're doing this, let's do it.
That is what they're saying.
And then Aaron last week said, well, I don't have a contract.
So what you want me to do?
What do you want me to do?
I'll tell you what needs to be done.
Baseball needs to not stop.
Okay?
We're staring down a potential work stoppage in like a year or whatever, an MLB.
And I am just now.
And I know it's been around a long time.
Someone would say very long time.
Very long time.
I've seen the black and whites.
I know this is way back in the day.
I know baseball is really old.
I'm getting into baseball.
all the way into baseball. World Baseball Classic is spectacular. We need baseball to continue to go up
and right. Hope that we don't need to forecast in the future that this whole thing is going to stop
because it feels like it is a wagon. Last night, we get another huge win. We don't cover. Last night
we get a huge win tie. World Baseball Classic delivering right now for all of us.
Yeah, it is. I mean, obviously our games are always going to deliver, but every game, really,
It's not just BS to say all of these countries really, really care about this and they want to put on for their country.
Last night, I mean, we've heard Skeen's talk about how impressive and, you know, how important it is.
But early and often, you know, Captain America, Aaron Judge, with an absolute strike to cut down Joey Ortiz at third base.
And he responds in the next inning by hitting an oppo two-run Homer to get USA on the board.
This has kind of been the thing with all their games.
I don't want to say they're tight early, but they obviously feel the tremendous amount of pressure on them.
So for Judge to come in and do that early, that was huge.
And then Roman Anthony, after getting thrown out early and looking like maybe the slowest man in America,
he hits a massive three-run homer to put us up five-nothing.
At that point, it looked like we were going to roll.
And luckily, you know, we're talking about biggest stars in Kansas City.
Bobby Witt, Jr., shortstop for the Kansas City Royals.
We said this when we were at their training camp.
This guy's just special.
And the amount of plays he made last night just looking like an absolute wizard.
Now, it helps when you have Alejandro Kirk, who is one of the biggest wobble bodies in the MLB running down to first base.
So he had plenty of time to throw them out.
But seeing two of these games or two of these plays in that game, I mean, these are massive moments.
That's what you listen to the broadcasters in these types of games.
Like Mexico has multiple MLB all stars.
So this isn't just like another one of these teams who it's a fun story.
So you give teams extra outs, like they will hurt you.
We weren't giving them any extra outs last night with Paul Skeens.
He was absolutely tremendous.
This looked like it was the middle of June.
All his stuff was working.
I want to say he topped out at 100.
So like the atmosphere, the energy, the environment,
he kind of alluded to it pregame.
Like this was probably one of the biggest, most important games he started in his career,
maybe outside of the national championship.
And he had all his stuff working early.
it was one of those things where the pitch count limits him.
If Skeens would have been able to throw six, seven innings,
like we would have beat the hell out of Mexico.
He probably would have had 15 strikeouts.
He had seven through four, which was a team USA record.
But just tremendous stuff out of Skeens.
The bullpen, you know, little shoddy later.
We had a guy who's a starting pitcher pitching long relief.
He gave up a couple homers to, Jaron, who is an all-star for the Red Sox.
He was very good.
But ultimately, this is the kind of game we needed.
Mexico is very, very good.
And, you know, we win 5'3.
We are 3 in our pool, and we play tonight against Italy to potentially, you know, go 4-0 and get that top seed.
Uh-oh, shut down to Lavasa.
Okay, no espresso tonight.
Grazie prego.
Okay, as the USA boys continue their dominance of this pool play for World Baseball Classic.
Nolan McLean, this is who everybody's talking about.
They're saying he's a guy.
Next up.
Former quarterback at Oklahoma State.
as well.
Oh, really?
Weiden in this time.
Who's he pitched for now?
Mets.
Okay.
Yeah, Steve Cohen,
say you're coming on
over here,
but that's what you're doing.
I will say this.
That Dominican team
scares me a little bit.
They're having a lot more fun
to everybody else.
It's a party on the diamond.
You know,
and the little bit of...
Oh.
Back to...
How about Austin Wells?
They're telling me
this guy just got recruited
a good place for me.
He doesn't have the same pizzazz
as the rest of the team
for some reason.
10 dongs too?
I mean, they're all going crazy down there.
And every single thing is getting celebrated as it's shit about it.
I think I found the style of baseball that I like.
However, the Dominican Republic plays baseball, that's what I like.
We got dong shots.
I mean, one dong after dong, dong, dong, dong, dong, dong.
Dong, dong, dong, dong, dong, dong.
They're hitting them out of the stadium.
And they're pimping everyone.
So, brang.
I mean, everyone is getting pimped fully.
We got a jacket, we got a chain, we got a long trip around these bases.
Let's let this pitcher feel every last step.
I mean, there's Rick Flair coming around first base.
And then there's full celebration.
It is spectacular.
It is absolutely awesome.
And then Japan, they're playing over there in Japan.
Anything good happens, roof off the place.
I mean, I like what baseball's doing right now.
Yeah.
It was a way game for the boys down here in Houston.
It felt like that.
And that was another, you know,
you know, thing to, that was why it's important.
Dero had to say that to the boys.
Skipper Dero had to say it to the boys. I heard last night.
They said on a broadcast, the Dero came in and say, boys,
tonight might feel like an away game.
Yeah.
In Houston, Texas.
That's for a bigger discussion of the night, but we need to go win this thing.
And I'll tell you what we did.
Mm-hmm.
We did.
I need a cover.
Hell yeah, I did.
Yeah.
It's 12.50.
We got seven minutes to a hard out,
and that feels like that's the perfect time to send it over to the free agency
fun zone for fits from yesterday.
You know, whenever you talk about,
free agency and money being spent.
We always talk physical.
But Shregg said, hey, how about we talk about the culture fits
that maybe took place yesterday
in what people are trying to establish?
Shraggs, what's your big takeaway from a fits perspective
of the first day of free agency frenzy?
Malik Willis wasn't going to be for everybody.
Malik Willis wasn't going to be the starting quarterback for everybody.
Malik Willis makes a lot of sense for the Miami Dolphins.
The money is fine.
The money is not crazy.
The money is not something that the dolphins are going to lose sleepover.
But there is no group of people in the intense.
entire NFL who know more about that quarterback than Jeff Hathley, John Eric Sullivan, and
John Robinson.
So John Robinson, it was the general manager of the Tennessee Titans with Mike Vrable in Tennessee
when they drafted Malik Willis.
John Robinson has been in the wilderness for the last couple of years.
He was hired a couple months ago by the Miami Dolphins to be a part of their front office.
So now you have the guy who drafted Malik Willis, the GM who was a part of the group
that brought him in last time with the...
Packers, and then you have the defensive coordinator who saw Malik Willis in person every day for
two years, all three of them vouching for Malik Willis, you better believe that the Miami
Dolphins have conviction and that they want him as their quarterback.
I could tell you that Malik Willis went through the, not Malik Willis, Jeff Hathley went through
the head coaching hiring process, and part of his plan when he presented it to Troy Aitman and
to Stephen Ross and to Danny Silman and to that entire Malfin's brass was we need to make a
change at quarterback, and I think I have the right guy.
So this one, as far as everyone says, well, he hasn't done anything, hasn't done squat in the league.
What's going to happen when he's in Buffalo in December?
Well, those are all valid questions.
There is no group of people in the entire NFL who know Malik Willis more than the triumphant of men,
Halfley, John Eric Sullivan and John Robinson more than those three guys.
So I would say that fit makes sense for Miami.
It might not work for Arizona, might not work for Pittsburgh.
It made sense for Miami.
We loved them yesterday.
coming fresh out of a workout.
Oh, yeah, he was awesome.
Leak is a good nickname too.
Hey, Leak looks good.
I saw a lot of people in the comments doing that.
Him in Miami should be a fantastic thing.
How about you, Dana?
What about on the field?
Any good fits that happened yesterday where money was spent?
Yeah, plenty of good fits.
I do like Malik in the timeline.
I like some of the past catchers,
the addition of likely in New York, Wondale, Mike Evans.
I want to show everybody, though, Pat.
We want to get to that, right?
Yeah, we want to get to that right.
Now I'm going to my...
No, where are you going?
Yeah, yeah.
Before I do that, before I do that, let me get to my kids stuff.
Oh, for three.
Oh, geez, bad.
It would have been so smooth.
Bad miss.
I'm a catch and shoot guy.
Oh, okay.
Oh, that's a bad bad.
Put on the line.
Oh, dude.
How about you were showing us something?
Hey, let me give you a better pass.
Let me give you a better pass, man.
Laces.
Come on, my Yukon guy.
Step in.
Foot on the line again.
Cash.
I made them all more.
Is this a good fit?
I don't know.
Yay!
Yay!
Okay.
Good hit.
25%.
All right.
What is this?
Hold,
hold, hold, hold.
Hold on.
Hold, I didn't.
You got a press.
You go, go.
Hey, who's done?
Who the hell is?
Something.
There you go, go.
G.
Benji Molina.
Hey, Alejandro Kirk.
If you're in.
Okay, Dano, if you throw a strike right here?
Okay, Gump, if you throw a strike or what?
If you throw a strike right here?
Okay.
$20,000 donation to a charity of your choosing.
From the wind up?
Whatever the hell you want.
Do the whole thing, dude.
That's right.
Good work.
Not bad.
What's this?
This thing dropped down?
Tap the thing.
Good work, gubs.
Up in front of you.
In front of you.
In front of you.
Top, pop, pop, pop, top, top, top, top.
One punch?
One punch.
One punch.
Oh my God.
You should not.
I've got two fights in my life.
I won one.
Not bad.
Are you a lefty?
Oh, no.
Oh, boy.
That's not bad.
That's not bad.
Dude, that's a rope.
Okay, now you're doing a putt.
Okay, so we made a shot.
We threw a strike.
We threw a 600 punch, which is not going to knock anybody out.
But now we're going to make a put for 10 grand.
Jarr.
Yeah.
All right.
Let's get to some.
Hey, insert a thousand.
That's pretty good.
All right.
Let's get to the film.
You've got about a minute and a half for you.
Quickly, Foxy, it's good, Isaiah Likely, one-on-one.
So the opportunity to put a guy one-on-one in the red zone, you can play it,
and then watch where the ball placement is.
Foxy, freeze it on the throw.
This is going to be the big thing for Jackson Dart.
We'll often say for quarterbacks, face mask or higher.
Okay, face-masker high in the red zone because it matters,
belt buckle or lower.
And so for Jackson Dart to have a big-body guy, neighbors is great.
He's not that.
Okay, so Isaiah likely.
Also, the ability to just get a one-on-one.
Now freeze it, these crossing routes.
Okay, when you get one-on-one man coverage, imagine like this is Malik neighbors
or whatnot. Like this is a nice job of crossing across the field you could play at Foxy.
One-on-one versus man coverage, Jackson Dart making that throw. So I like likely in addition to
New York. Huge addition. Okay. Let's go to the next one, Foxy. Mike Evans, Devonty Adams.
Think Devante Adams rams. One-on-one down the red zone. This is even like a difficult throw.
Just put him, give him a chance to make that throw if you're Brock Purdy. Okay. So that was the fade.
The butt knows this. Now watch him win the slant, okay? And watch where he just puts this ball,
Baker Mayfield. That's going to be Brock Purdy. Okay. So that was the fade. He butt nose. He
Rock Purdy. So just those one-on-one opportunities for a guy down in the red zone to win. I love the
addition in San Francisco. Michael Pittman Jr. Oh, yeah. Okay, Pittsburgh. Now think about this,
Aaron Rogers. Can we throw the ball in the middle of the field a little bit more in these
possession throws? I want you to freeze out of top, boxy right there. Okay, so see how Pittman
gets to the top of his route? Where his eyes? He's all looking in here, okay? He's looking in here
because he's trying to see what the defense is doing. Okay, now I don't want you to run full sprint.
I want you to sit and be boring. Aaron's going to see this the same.
way. So that, the ability to see the defense the same way as the quarterback is a really big deal.
Once again, I'll top Michael Pittman Jr., okay? See the timing of this? See how he's, there's
a defender here, there's a defender here, there's a defender here. I need the receiver to see
there's a void here, and there's a void here. You have to see it the same way as the veteran
quarterback. Beautiful, beautiful, sit in that soft spot. So they needed that in Pittsburgh.
All right, so Dan, Dan, that's good job.
Perfect fits for made money was spent.
Perfect fit.
I don't love the Pitman's in Pittsburgh.
I wish we had him in Indy.
But in Indy is Dano, Shrag, Chefty,
hour two of free agency frenzy.
Day two will be on the other side of this break.

Had a senior defensive lineman from Miami. Gun down.
The key to this case, it's Brian.
A hour before he died, he was on the phone.
This might be a hit.
You want the truth.
They just want a conviction.
Being placed in arrest.
We had to kill our lives.
amongst us. Murder at the U. Listen now.
Hello, beautiful people, and welcome back to our Humbley Bo, the Thunderdome.
On this day two of NFL deal making, March 10, 2006, also known as, we can't thank enough
for allowing us to do this for a living. That's Darius J. Butler right there.
The Toxic Table at Boston Connor and that Ty Schmitter right there. One half of the hammer,
Cowboys AP tone is sitting nice with a beautiful cowboy hat. It's not just us.
on this beautiful thunderdome.
It's not just us on this free agency
frenzy Tuesday. We also have
senior NFL insider for ESPN, Adam
Schefter, and in the free agency
fund zone. Dan Orlovsky and
Peter Schreger. Now, Orlovsky
ended the hour with an incredible breakdown of
why some of these wide receivers fit
at some of these teams that they just signed massive deals
to, but also put on a little athleticism
display that I don't think we had seen coming.
Didn't know what was going to happen. Obviously, we laid
out things at each one of the particular spots.
Didn't all know he was going to go in that particular order.
He throws up a couple terrible basketball shots.
Then he puts one down.
Finally.
Then he steps on the mound, starts talking to shit.
Earlier today, he said, I was A-Rod before A-Roll.
Straight face.
As he's spinning it into Thunderdome.
Crazy thing to say, but he meant it, and that's why we love Dano.
He throws a strike for $20,000 of charity.
And he goes over to punching game.
Did not know he's going to sign up for that.
But in two fights in my life.
I won't want.
Okay, he's batting 500.
You're going to lose somebody once in a while when you throw in hands.
How's he going to do over there?
600 punch.
People will mock him for that, I think, that have ever done the punch thing.
But it's Dan Rolovsky.
What do you want from him?
Lover, not a fighter.
Yeah, exactly.
He's got a pillow on the right, and he's got a sleep cycle on the left.
Don't you worry about any of that.
Yeah.
What's that?
He's got length.
He doesn't have the power punches.
He's got the, you know, strong jabs right to the jaw.
Yeah, not even to the jaw.
Also, you'll mess around with Dan, and Dan will assign him, he'll smack in the back of that.
Yeah.
I hit you with a windmill.
Boom.
You know what I'm going to move.
Boom.
Come over the top.
Dan's going to happen.
So then he buries a put.
Then he comes up.
here and does amazing. We appreciate the hell out of you, Dano for those fits. You as well,
Shrags, for talking about the culture fit with Malik Willis there down in Miami. A couple thoughts
here. Yeah, go ahead, Shregs. I mean, just the entire energy of the day. And like, I thought
that was as much of an under pressure performance that I've seen in sports over like the last
calendar year. If he fell on his face, do you realize the ribbing that would be given him?
If he threw the bitch, if he threw a wild pitch or if he put the ball. I mean, incredible. And secondly,
I know, I don't, I know the Paul brother.
down there wants to talk about fighting an ex-football player.
I saw a punch that went to 600 over here.
I would pay good money to watch Dan Orlovsky in a boxing match,
take on either of the Paul brothers, WWE excluded,
and I would be here right front row watching rooting my guy on.
Dan, Dan, you're not representing football, buddy.
No way.
Are we letting that happen?
No way.
Is that not good?
I mean, it's out of 500.
Yeah, 600 out of 500.
We actually turned a governor on so it wouldn't go up above.
602, you know, so, I mean, there is a chance of that. But Shreg, let's talk a little bit about
this free agency frenzy. A lot of money spent yesterday. We haven't heard a damn thing today.
I'm going to be honest. This has been a pretty slow day, too. We did not expect this.
Why do you think that is the case? And what are your thoughts on what comes next, Shraig?
Well, it was the mad dash to get to these guys that they've been talking about since the combine.
They put their boards together. And, okay, we got to go. We got to do it. And it was fun.
And everyone gets involved in it's, and now it's who's going to make the next move? We had a night
to sleep on it. Let's reassess the next year. To meet Trey Hendrickson,
obviously is the biggest name still on the board.
We'll see how that goes down.
Adam Schaefter's been all over it all morning.
We'll see what his asking price is,
and we'll see if a team will match that asking price.
It's also which teams that have been laying in the weeds
are going to make a move.
It's actually very interesting to me.
Three of the four teams that didn't make a move,
the Eagles, the Seahawks, and the Denver Broncos.
Who didn't sign anybody from outside their organization?
All were playoff teams last year,
and two of the three won Super Bowls in the last two years.
So you start thinking about, okay,
the Tennessee Titans, they went and spent $289.5 million
and were treating Wondale Robinson like he's Jerry Rice over here.
At some point, it's the team that just retain their people
and bring them back and think long term.
Tennessee is interesting, though, because there is this new fever,
this love.
But if you're a fan of New York sports and you see, you know,
well, they're bringing all a Dables guys,
they're bringing all of Salas guys,
I can be critical here in a way of just saying,
well, those were two of the worst teams in football the last few years.
Oh, Trent.
Stop using common sense in this entire thing.
That said, Alante Taylor, hell of a signing.
Good player. He had a big market there.
And then you like the guys that they brought in because they do fit the culture.
And you know that Salah and Dable and Aaron Whitecotton, who's the defensive line coach,
who now gets back Jermaine Johnson and on the defensive line here.
Who's the other defense line they got from the Jets?
John Franklin Myers, who was there two years ago with the Jets, they get guys they know.
So you're trying to build a culture and all this.
But slow down.
Let's not build a monument.
in Nashville just yet.
It's got to actually happen on the field.
And day one, a free agency.
We don't crown Super Bowl winners.
I wish we would, though, because we kind of did yesterday.
Everybody that signed somebody to big money, we were so happy for them.
Incredible.
I will continue to live off those highs as well for them.
Raiders, I can't wait for them winning Super Bowl.
Seahawks did it last year.
So maybe they were top five spenders.
They're able to do it.
But once you do get your team assembled, then free agency becomes, you know, how do we fill
the gaps in this entire thing?
Let's go over to the man who's been on the inside of it all,
senior NFL insider from ESPN, a man who we watched work yesterday.
What a chaotic existence, but certainly a weapon.
Adam Schaefter, how do you kind of see this day two of free agency frenzy going with not a lot of action?
Well, Pat, you heard Peter talk about Trey Hendrickson.
That's the biggest name that's out there right now.
He's waited at an awful long time to get to this spot in free agency.
He's been talking to a lot of teams.
Obviously he wants to get to a certain point.
And the reason there's no deal right now is because up to this time, he hasn't.
So we'll see if a deal for Trey Hendrickson can materialize every team out there could use a pass rusher.
And there are certain teams that you might not expect to be in that market that suddenly are.
Like the Philadelphia Eagles lose yesterday their pass rusher to the Carolina Panthers.
Maybe Philadelphia calls.
You don't know.
Dallas still hasn't filled that need to a great degree.
They went and traded for Sean Gary.
So it's hard to say which team is going to jump in and which team isn't,
but we know there's a great player out on the market in Trey Hendricks.
we have the quarterbacks that are still out there.
Kyler Murray has not been released from Arizona, as we discussed in the first hour.
They're holding on to him to a certain deadline this week, maybe tomorrow, 4 p.m. Eastern.
And Gino Smith in Las Vegas also has not been released from the Raiders yet.
They have said that they would release him, barring a trade.
We'll see what materializes with Gino Smith between now and 4 p.m. Eastern tomorrow,
but he'll be leaving Las Vegas.
Kyle Murray will be leaving Arizona.
and the places that you look at right now that have openings at the quarterback position.
Minnesota is the obvious one for everybody, right?
Everybody knows they're going to be bringing in another quarterback.
They've been linked to Kyler-Murray.
They've been linked to Gino-Smith.
Kyler-Murie is the logical favorite there in Minnesota for if and when he does get released.
We'll see what happens with Gino-Smith.
He's played before in the New York market.
The Jets could be an option in time.
We'll see how that works out.
But those are some of the moves we're waiting on.
Trey Hendrickson, the biggest names.
Some of the other names out there, we still could get a Romeo Dobbs,
signing during the course of this show. Caleb on
Chasen. Still out there, Cade Nellis,
the Falcons linebacker.
The punter market stride up, though, Pat.
All the punters are off the board. They've all been paid.
Yesterday was a big day for the ball kicking
community. Honestly, watching those punters
signed for $4 million, $5 million, $6 million.
First day signing.
That's not like, hey, we have money left.
That's like, hey, let's go ahead and get this
accomplished, get this done. You're part of the culture, and I respect
that for the punters as a whole.
We'll keep an eye to your Twitter account.
As news continues to break around the NFL, I
do believe there was a deal, Shefti, that I think probably got texted to you.
If you could put that up on your Twitter account so that we can do the cool glass break,
give me.
You got it.
All right.
Thank you, Jeffty.
We shall wait now for the glass to break because there has been a move that this room
will certainly be intrigued by.
A move that is not only a big name, but also a team that needs a missing void.
Ooh.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is time as we sit and wait, as maybe it wasn't our internet.
Huh?
Maybe it was the fingies.
It was.
Maybe it was the fingee.
You know, we're taking a lot of shrapnel on our Wi-Fi.
Our show had no problem yesterday.
Maybe a little audio stuff.
He's less than three feet away from us.
Maybe a little audio stuff happened over there.
The suspense is killing me.
In the free agency fund zone.
But there is certainly a signing that has taken place.
And do we have the tweet up?
Oh, hold on.
Give me a moment.
You got to confirm?
got across the T's and dot the eyes.
Get the money maybe.
Yeah, yeah.
He needs the photo with the tweet.
Yeah, look at the, yeah, we're watching.
Please, I don't need, you don't need to put it in.
The Lions are signing Isaiah Pacheco.
Did you put the thing up?
Did you put the thing?
Did you put the thing?
Did you put the thing?
We got one.
This tweet was a tweet tweet,
like he was a bird coming out of his mouth.
Isaiah Pacheco is going to the Lions.
Demo.
One half of Sonic and Knuckles in the backfield for MCDC's Detroit Lions football team.
Jared Goffs, the quarterback, who are the running backs, as Gibbs and DeMo, Sonic and
Knuckles.
All of a sudden, Gibbs, though, starts a historic run.
Every time he gets the ball seemingly going for a touchdown, Demo, his carries start to dwindle down the stretch.
It starts to become not just a Sonic and Knuckles, mostly just Sonic Knuckles where you've been
nowhere.
They lose, inevitably.
Demo then.
What's his market?
What's he look like?
Well, they get him in Houston.
Now, are they going to continue a two-back system?
Well, yes, they certainly are.
Gibbs will continue to be Sonic, and they bring in a knuckles,
a guy who actually tries to beat up the ground with every single step that he takes.
Isaiah Pacheco going to the Detroit Lions feels like a perfect fit.
Love everything about the move.
Now, once again, he's just going to take touches away from Gibbs,
and are they going to end up doing the Gibbs show down the stretch and just,
if he gets hurt, then Pacheco, balancing that is a part of the entire process.
That's why having two running backs is certainly good because you got two guys fresh.
But what if both of them get hot?
Who do you keep?
Who do you lose?
It's happening with Team USA right now at the shortstop position.
Because we got an abundance of talent, but only one person can play the position.
Kind of started to happen with Detroit last year with Sonic and Knuckles.
Well, it happened again with Pacheco.
They're saying, we don't care.
We just want to add another great player to the backfield.
What are your thoughts, Steve?
Yeah, up until last year with Detroit, it was really balanced.
Like, Monty was started a game.
Gibbs was started a game.
They were exchanged pretty much every series.
And then obviously Gibbs became that lead back because he was so dynamic.
But he does have some ebbs and flows in his game.
Sometimes he'll kind of disappear as well.
So I bring him Pacheco in there to kind of be that off balance.
I said it yesterday.
I'm a big believer in the running back by committee.
I do think you need a lead back.
Gibbs will be that guy.
I anticipate that he'll get a big check pretty soon.
But you need a physical runner like Pacheco.
A lot of people, I'm sure, casuals,
but would have been much more excited about this time than maybe two years ago.
But I think he's still a very, very, very.
good running back and I think it's a good signer for
Detroit. Chiefs bringing Kenneth Walker
to send Isaiah Pacheco to Detroit.
I think he'll fit in well up there
Conman. Yeah, definitely. Especially when you think about
how high his knees goes, it feels like every time
we talk about Pacheco, it's how angry
he is at the ground. Like I couldn't even
imagine what MCDC is thinking.
I found a guy
you can't eat his kneecap, man.
He actually can't. It's too strong. His Patel is
too strong, potentially. You have to love
this up in Detroit. Absolutely.
I love everything about it. We have to get
back to ground and pound football first
and then play action second.
Last year it wasn't that way. We weren't controlling
games because of that. And now I expect
them to get a couple more linemen,
ensure that thing up and get back to
MCDC style football. Yeah, I know you guys have lost a couple
legendary offensive linemen. Yeah, kick him out of time.
They were great players
a bit long in the tooth.
Oh my God.
That's disgusting you say that. I agree it was.
It's just the truth. Fawkesi is. I can't remember.
Pacheco is he now.
Was he ass or cheeks?
No, Sonic and Knuckles are back.
Pacheco would be cheeks.
You would think it would be there.
Pacheco.
Yeah, but they're not going to be ass and Pacheeks.
They're not going to be that this year.
That's what people are saying about Sonic and Knuckles up in Detroit
for a certain time period of the year last year.
We are just reporting what people were saying,
we did not make it up.
Believe me, we wish we did.
That would have been very funny.
We just report the news.
The internet is funny.
They are on it.
They will never miss.
so they said, Sonic and Knuckles more like ass and cheeks,
and boy, big pop out of all of us.
So it made its way onto the show.
And then all of a sudden, though, Sonic and Knuckles
start coming back and dominating again.
And then it's like ass and cheeks has gone by the wayside.
We are now back to who we thought we were going to be.
That all kind of happened when MCDC started calling the plays.
That is correct.
And who's calling the plays ever.
Let's go to the free agency funds.
A man who predicted that the Detroit Lions would be dead last year
and Peter Schrager and Dan Orlovsky,
who certainly has thoughts on every offense.
What does his signing mean?
And what are your thoughts on the Lions?
Start with you, Shreg.
Well, I love Pacheco.
He's got to stay healthy.
He was hurt a lot of the time the last two years.
So he won Super Bowls, his first two years in the pros, the first NFL player ever to win Super Bowls,
starting at running back in back-to-back years to start a career.
So he already has those big game experiences.
Drew Petzing is the biggest question mark.
Last year, before the season started, I came on this very show and boldly said the Lions
were not going to make the playoffs.
I caught so much hell for it.
I almost crawled to Detroit and said in bed for very first.
forgiveness. They didn't make the playoffs. And up and down the offense was. They had big explosions,
but it wasn't the same thing without Ben Johnson. So insert, Drew Petzing, who the response to his
hiring by Lions fans was not kind, was not widely applauded. But I would tell you, Drew Petzing is
one of the more respected young offensive coaches in the league. Despite the facts Arizona's
offense did not hit expectations the last couple of years, he has looked at as one of these wonderkins
as well. And if Jan Campbell
and Brad Holmes and that organization
knowing that they have a quarterback
in Jared Gough, who is not getting any younger
and a wide receiver in Amon Ross, St. Brown,
and Penny Sewell on the offensive line, not getting
any younger, if they decided if this
was the man, I would give them the
benefit of the doubt. You add Pacheco
in there, you now have two very
tough running good players in Jemir Gibbs
and Isaiah Pacheco. But I do
wonder, is that a downgrade
whatever, or
an upgrade from David Montgomery
who's given them so much over so many years.
Yeah, David Montgomery and
Gibbs were a great tag team. Yeah.
But it did clearly become the Gibbs show at the
end of that. And I assume they're going to continue to commit
to that. Dan, your thoughts on
you know, you lose Ben Johnson
and it feels like the Ben Johnson
effect felt immediately
in Chicago. They're trying to chase that
still on the offensive side. What did you see from
MCDC as a play caller that
maybe you like for the lines going
forward? Or what do you think they need to do more?
Well, I think with Dan, there's an identity that he wants. He wants to be playing football the way his personality is. Like that big, physical, we do what we want when we want style of offense. And they lost that last year because they lost, they weren't nearly as good on the offensive line. That's starting point for them. Two years ago and three years ago, when they were like down that magical run and Ben was cooking up these awesome plays, in part was because their offensive line was the best unit in football. And so, yeah, they could.
run the ball on third and seven and it was cool and everyone was like well this is awesome
because I'm fourth and one it's a guaranteed first down running the football I think we
haven't talked about it but they signed cade maize if I'm accurate from yeah yeah
carolina so you you bring in cade maize Tate ratledge is going to be a second year player
for them that really played pretty good football for them so now it's like you feel
better about their offensive line now Taylor decker who has been there for gosh a decade now
I believe they have parted ways so they're going to have to find a left tackle but I do
think the interior of their offensive line will be better than it was last year.
And I think that will allow them to get back to football.
I'll touch on petting a little bit because Colin Monday Night Football, we've done it a couple
times together.
I think he's really good in the run game, personally.
I think he's really good with the diversity of their run.
He loves using tight ends.
Obviously in Detroit, Laporte is a big part of that.
The asterisk that I attach to it is they're going to need people in that building that are
really good designing their past game.
I've always felt even in Arizona
that the past game concepts
they weren't as creative as I want them to be
and so that's going to be a big deal in Detroit
A little bit more spark, a little bit more pizze
Yeah, just how you get the formations
The motions, the shifts, the timings, the releases,
all that stuff
Plays are plays or plays.
You're not reinventing football.
How you're getting to them is that's the secret sauce
For these play callers and play designers
I think that's an important role in Detroit
Yeah, and Ben Johnson was the
the best at it.
He doesn't look the part, Pat.
That's basically what you mean,
he's a shorter guy, he's bald, he doesn't look like
5-5 bald guy.
This is not a guy who's not, he doesn't look like Sean McVeigh.
He doesn't look like Ben Johnson.
He's going to be next to MCDC?
He's not like he doesn't look like Gayton.
So I think Lions fans see a visual of him and they see that he was with the Cardinals.
Come on, man.
And they feel like that to step down.
That's going to happen.
Well, we were saying, come on, man.
You can make a better call there, man.
We were saying it about Mike McDaniel.
That was like the final thing that I think happened before he got hired.
His MCDC gave him a big wedge and hung him by his underwear on the coat rack on the back of his door.
He could be eye to eye with him.
We honestly don't know.
McDaniel looking, I'm sorry, MCDC looking down at him, though, and saying, deep shot.
He might baby Bjorn him.
We can't rule that out.
That would be whispering this way now.
Yeah, exactly.
So they're whispering to each other with a family.
No, we understand.
But just MCDC is so large.
So if he's going to be sitting there next to a 5-5 ball guy,
who's the offense coordinator, I think that's a good piece of journalism where we need to,
you know, what's that?
Now we're talking about it, I'm assuming petzing is saying, hey, look, I've got to be in the booth.
I'm not standing next to you.
I'm going up top.
I can see the field a little better from up there.
It's a great look.
I think he looks like a football guy.
What do you mean?
Everybody's saying he doesn't look like the part.
What do you mean, Shrakes?
He doesn't look like a football guy?
Is it because he took a picture next to MCDC?
He's not stand next to anybody in that picture.
Yeah.
Yeah, he looks eight feet tall in that photo.
He does. That's actually some good.
He looks good at that photo.
He looks good.
I like him.
You're saying people killed him, though, just because the way he looks.
Yeah, because people are stupid.
And they don't look at like, okay, the guy's got 20 years of coaching football.
Let's give him a shot.
I just feel like it was a stereotypical take that every Lions fan had.
Who is this guy?
Wait, he looks like that.
All right, I'm out.
Give it a second.
Let's see because you could look like the greatest football coach in the world and from a movie.
And you could be John Voight from Varsity Blues.
Truth of the matter is, if you can draw it up, you can draw it up.
You can draw it up.
Yeah.
I give that whole thing a 10, a 10.
Yeah.
That was a great movie.
I was asked the other day at Radio Row.
Dan, you've seen that movie, Varsely Blues?
Of course.
The clean version.
That's Dan's life.
Shout out to James Vanderby.
Yes.
And Paul Walker.
Rest of peace.
Whole cute.
Yeah, definitely.
Coach.
Man, what a movie.
I didn't expect Dano to be watching.
He's seen it on MTV where they bleep out all the swear words.
and they go to commercial
Allie Lutter doesn't do the whipped
That scene is cut
He doesn't know the 10 thing I just did
No, he's like, oh, is that a play? I don't remember
You're seeing the GIF.
Okay, I get it.
Dan, we love you, man.
We appreciate you doing it.
I have seen that movie in the unedited form.
Really?
Don't lie.
I was a teen in the 90s.
I was a teen in the 90s.
Yes, you were.
Yes, you were.
And we got a chance to see it.
If there was a ball around,
you were certainly going to try to break something.
This place is the best, man.
I would literally live.
here. Well, there's something to say
about that. We appreciate you coming out here,
Dano. Let's head back into
Schifty. Oh, there's a photo I just shown
of the guy that I certainly probably saw
others. Yeah. Ocks.
Football guy. Just absolutely
through and through. That's the other reason the Lions fans
are pissed because they're just coming off of a
short ball guy with Timmy Horton, who
did not do well.
Johnny Molle.
Johnny Morrow.
The double double.
That was an interesting move, though. MCDC, picking up the
play calling duties while that guy's still there.
And then saying, just watch me,
and then saying, I was with Ben Johnson, too.
What are we even?
I believe the first game he picked it up was against the 30 second
ranked defense. Yeah, it was.
And they home 50. Yeah.
It was good play.
He is bad.
Scored on every possession that game, actually.
Okay, so let's talk about the current
salary cap situation for teams.
You know, because we already talked about who's spent.
Let's see who still has money to spend at this point.
Now, remember, you can get good deals right now.
Guys can get $4, $5 million deals and, you know, really do some damage for the team.
Still up over $90 million, $80 million there.
And the Buffalo Beals, $10 million.
They signed Connor McGovern to a deal.
He'll be joining us in the next hour.
Obviously, he's excited.
I think they watched program up there, so I think he's bombed.
He just got paid very well.
Then you got some of these teams down here at the bottom that are trying to do some work to get back on the other side.
We assume they're going to be quiet.
We have no idea how the Carolina Panthers still have money to spend after what they did yesterday.
Surprising big winners, Carolina Panthers yesterday.
And I guess we should have expected them to kind of go for it,
especially with what we learned from David Tepper ownership when he stopped by the show on Radio Row.
It's like he will leave no stone unturn trying to win.
And it's like some of the scenes we've seen in the past that have painted him in a light of like,
is that what an NFL owner is supposed to act like?
He goes, can I get my side?
Can I say my side?
These guys were disrespecting my family.
got a hurt player on the field.
He gave an entire thing.
It's like, okay, not that bad.
He's gone hands off because he trusts Dan Morgan, I believe, and Canales.
And I believe there's another person down there.
Shregs, who's the other guy down there in Carolina that did a bunch of work for them yesterday?
Brent Tillis is his name.
He was the cap guru in Kansas City.
They brought him over to Carolina two years ago, and he interviewed for the GM job.
Dan Morgan got the job, but they still brought him in another role, an advisory role.
And Brent Tillis is like a wizard with the number.
So they got the chief's top cap guy, and they brought him to Carolina.
last two off seasons have crushed it.
Yeah, and I think they were able to spend a shit on the money and make some plays that
nobody expect them, dude.
Devin Lloyd, obviously, and Jalen Phillips going to the Carolina Panthers.
They got Bryce Young on the offensive side, and they sold that stadium out for a playoff
game.
It feels like they're back to life.
That's good news for ball as a whole.
The Philadelphia Eagles sitting there with $13 million.
Their cabinet's got kind of rated.
Yeah.
People just kind of going after.
And then there was a little bit of rumbling about maybe a trade along the D-line, but anything
is possible, I guess, at this moment.
especially for anybody that doesn't have a lot of cash.
You know, and restructuring of contracts,
we're in that season here as well as teams are going to have to get under the number.
San Francisco 49ers with 20 million, they're still making place.
What a signing yesterday of Mike Evans.
I mean, that was a magical moment here.
We go over to Shregs over in Free Agency Fun Friend Zone over there,
and he goes, Mike Evans is moving soon.
He's not going back to the bucks.
And then bang, Shepty tweet, he's going to the San Francisco 49ers.
What a gigantic move yesterday.
day by the Niners D-Bud.
I don't think we've talked about that nearly enough.
Mike Evans no longer a buck headline.
Mike Evans now a part of the 49ers offense,
crazy to think about the opportunities and expectations.
Yeah, when we were talking about it,
we said if you're going to leave a place that you've been so long,
you have someone's history,
you're probably going to go somewhere as established
that should be a contender.
And you obviously look at the teams.
You look at the quarterback.
So you have Brock Purdy, you got a great play caller,
and head coach with Kyle Shanahan.
This is a team that can get there that can get over the hump.
And we talked about with Devante Adams, the difference he made with the Rams and Matt Stafford.
I don't know how many one-yard touchdowns he had last year.
But once you get into that low-red area, with this guy, it's a mismatch.
It's a slant fade.
You can almost know the route, but as a corner, as a DB, it's tough for you to get in between the quarterback in this receiver right here, 13.
He's been doing this for a long, long time, a Hall of Fame when it's all done.
This is a great move by the San Francisco.
Yeah, we talked about, we gave a comparison of Devante Adams, I believe, is what Dano brought up whenever you talk about
Mike Evans for that San Francisco 49ers offense.
Grancowski was another one whenever you're down in the red zone.
You just kind of flank him out one-on-one, what are you going to do?
With Kay, he has the best get-off.
So he's got a two-way go on somebody.
So Matthew Stafford knows he's going out there.
It's almost a guaranteed touchdown.
Grongkowski was unblockable.
If he thought he could shake you, he'd go outside.
If he wanted to just box you up, he'd do that.
And Tom Brady would hit him.
What has happened now is Brock Purdy gets his own version of that, right?
Yeah.
Is kind of what everybody's thinking with Mike Evans, because he's unguarable if he goes in or out.
and if it's out on an island, I mean, it feels like that's a touchdown.
Tay had 10 touchdowns last year inside five-yard line,
which obviously led the NFL might be the history, the best in the history.
It's like if that's all he does for the Niners,
that would be a massive, massive signing for their team to go on a run,
let alone all the other shit of him taking the top off
so George and everybody can kind of eat up underneath,
let alone Christian McCaffrey, you have to have a box.
It's like Shanahan has to be dreaming that Mike Evans is a 49er,
And I don't know, did any of us expect him to leave?
I did not expect him to leave the Bucks.
I thought this was a Larry Fitzgerald situation.
Yeah, exactly.
I think the assumption was just him and Godwin and Baker.
We're going to ride it out until the end, especially when Kate Ott and who was their free agent tight ended up going back.
It was like, okay, they're getting the band back together.
That's going to happen.
But even with Mike Evans in San Francisco, we talked about earlier how big Pittman is losing him just in the wide receiver room.
Like Mike Evans getting in there and helping out Ricky Pearsall.
Ricky Pearsall really hasn't had like a veteran presence in the wide receiver.
receiver room. So even the knowledge he'll be able to pass on to help those other guys out.
Not to mention, you know, they only really have two wide receivers out there because
Kittle and you check are on the field so much with McCaffrey too.
The 49ers might be all the way back, but I did see a lot of people making a lot of jokes
about the substation of Mike Evans hamstring.
I did. I saw a lot of the internet.
It's going to let their jokes fly. That's what they're going to do.
But ladies and gentlemen, oh!
Chef Died tweet, day two of free agency frenzy.
Zane Gonzalez.
What?
Shit.
One year deal with the Miami Dolphins.
Mike McCartney said, Adam, fucking run it.
Zane Gonzalez going to Miami.
Gumpies in the back.
Grinning like the butcher's dog, D-Butt.
This is something you said has to get done for the dolphins.
Yeah, Zane was on the top of my big boy.
This is the guy who, he's here, fixes his hair like.
Yes.
Okay, okay.
Yeah.
Attention to attention to detail.
I got rid of yesterday.
Riley Patterson's also gone, I guess.
He was 27 to 29 last year.
So, yeah, this is good.
Yeah, and I think it was like 10 to 10 and plus 50 or something like that.
Yeah, I didn't worry.
I trust Sally doing, mine.
I trust Sally and Lynn Ben.
Hey, I'll tell you what.
Salie and who?
Lynn Ben.
Lin Bin, a minority owner of the Miami Dolphins bought a 1% stake of the Miami Dolphins at $175 million.
His fingerprints are all over.
Lynn Bin bought into F1 as well down there in Miami
And all the other things that he bought into made us realize
Maybe Stephen Ross doesn't care about the dog
Yeah
Maybe all the other things are doing really well
And if Lynn Bin's buying in at 1%
For $175 million
For a team that hasn't won a Super Bowl since when Gumpy?
1970 what?
Two, perfect season.
Three, three.
That was the year of the Super Bowl or the season?
No, 73. We won back to bat.
72, 73.
Oh, perfect season.
Then you guys had a blemish,
but you still won a Super Bowl.
So since 1973?
I love the Dolphins, man.
When's the last time a playoff game was won?
Ladies and gentlemen, giving us more details.
Maybe on this deal.
I don't know how they got to this.
Zane, known to be a tough negotiator.
Mike McCartney, forget about it.
He'll throw the pen down in the middle of all negotiations.
You want to dot eyes crossed T's he said,
I don't have a pen.
How are we dot in anything?
That's what Mike McCartney does.
So the fact they're able to get a deal done,
is magical. Let's go over to Adam Schaefter.
What's cooking, Adam? What is happening in
this free agency frenzy? Well, you know, you were talking
about the Niners, and I think that there was a feeling
in Tampa along with all the young wide receivers
that he was going to leave, and I think the 49ers
set their sights on him, and they were
haggling over the contract. You put up the
guarantee, or the money, three-year deal
worth up to $60.4 million.
That was really for cap purposes.
It's more like a one-year deal
that includes $16.4
million dollars of guaranteed
money, $16.4.
So even though the numbers are advertised bigger, come in bigger,
it's really a smaller deal for Mike Evans who felt like it was ready,
it was time to move on, try something new,
operate in a new offense.
We've seen the kind of success that it could have for other receivers later in their career.
And I think he just wanted to try something new.
Going to San Francisco with the 49er substations, that's new,
but they believe they'll be able to fit them into the offense.
It'll be a major factor.
As we continue to await the latest kicking and punting news here in the
cool headquarters where the Wi-Fi is working tremendous.
Okay, you've got good Wi-Fi today.
Maybe it's not as much action.
Maybe that's potentially wild.
It's quiet.
You knew that was going to be the case because how crazy yesterday was.
And by the way, they kept score.
You won yesterday.
Got to boy, Jeff.
You watched it.
Yeah, yeah, you won.
Congratulations.
No, big deal.
Also, Max Crosby on Friday.
But is that a part of this?
I don't know.
You crushed it.
We appreciate that.
But you knew today was going to be a little quieter.
It felt like as you came in here this morning.
I would say this.
There was so much activity yesterday.
and it was not considered a great free agent class.
So when you take all the sizzle names out on the first day
and you have to wait for the quarterbacks like Kyler Murray and Gino Smith till later in the week,
and we've already seen 10 trades made, how much more can you realistically expect on day two?
Like I said, there still are some really good players out there and we're still waiting
for some compelling deals.
But to beat yesterday, that was an all-time day one.
That was a crazy day one about as crazy as you could have.
on the first day of free agency.
And so it's hard to top that on day two.
Yeah, we enjoyed the hell out of yesterday.
And we'll be excited to see what all comes about today.
Go ahead, Tone.
Yeah, Shephti, you keep bringing up Kyler and Gino.
What about Kirk Cousins?
What's his current market like?
Is that maybe a situation I've heard potentially in Pittsburgh while they're waiting on
Aaron?
Is Kirk potentially a fallback?
What have you heard the latest on Kirk?
Well, tell you know, it's funny, I've brought up Gino and Kyler,
and I haven't brought up Kirk Cousins and I haven't brought up Russell,
and I haven't brought up Joe Flacco.
There's a lot of quarter of four.
back's out there, and there are only so many openings out there right now.
Kirk Cousins will be released tomorrow by 4 p.m. Eastern at that time, he'll become a free agent.
It doesn't sound like he's in any rush going to make a decision.
We saw last year, Philip Rivers, coming late in the year.
Kirk Cousins can sit back, wait.
He's made more money than anybody, and he has not to be in any rush to go take a job.
I don't think he's rushing out to Pittsburgh.
Now, I will say this.
if Aaron Rogers decided all of a sudden
not coming back to Pittsburgh,
thank you very much.
Could I see Kirk Cousins
coming to play as a potential option for the Steelers?
Definitely, at that point in time.
Do I think he's rushing into anything right now?
It doesn't sound that way, but let's see how it shakes out.
Okay, so Kirk Cousins, what about Derek Carr?
That came and went pretty quickly.
Yeah, yeah, I didn't.
Haven't heard much shatter about that.
Again, there would have to be a team that is willing to trade for him,
and the Saints have continued to say that nobody's approached them about it.
Okay, so the Saints will.
keep us updated on Derek Carr market. Who knows who lands where? Because until
Kyler's released tomorrow, Gino's released tomorrow, Kirk's released tomorrow, we have no
clue who's heading where. Gino back to the Jets would be crazy. That'd be cool. That would be
absolutely crazy. Shephyr kind of alluded to that earlier. He's like maybe the Jets are in
the market there. Indianapolis Colts situation would be certainly something as we kind of
try to figure out that. Gino or Kyle or or Kirk or hey Derek. Yeah. Yeah. If we can't
you, Daniel Jones, yeah, we'll do it again. Give us the Carson Wentz experience if it need
be, which might be happening for the New York Jets. So the quarterback kind of shuffling is fascinating.
And I think it has a little bit more of a heightened attention or heightened excitement
because we've seen these quarterbacks who've kind of been in places go and have massive success
at other spots. Maybe they find their actual home where they're supposed to be. The places
that they're supposed to go, let's say, eat dinner at and stay at home and train at is all in one
place and they find their best versions of themselves.
Those are all possible with these guys.
And I think that's why it's so exciting.
But man, it'd be great if they did that today.
I don't like that they're holding on collar until tomorrow.
What are we supposed to do today?
Yeah, well, I guess we're supposed to be super excited.
Speculate.
Hard to be.
Hard to be.
Maybe they'll trade him, though.
They won't, but maybe they will.
Well, Schafter said, that's not going to happen.
But you never know.
But there is a chance.
And they're like, well, why would they be doing Kyler any favors?
It's like, what about football?
Yeah.
What about us?
What about football as a whole?
With the Jets and Gino, I believe the Jets have three first round picks next year already.
And there's a lot of people saying, like, if they want to get that number one overall, bring Gino and he just did that for the Raiders.
Okay, so there's no reason for you.
He's a great West Virginia Mountain here.
And a lot of the interceptions that happened against Gino this year were plays of guys' careers.
I'm talking from Lill League, Pop Warner, high school, college, and NFL.
Guys were swooping in like they were Troy Palomaloo getting the best picks they've ever had against Gino.
He got unlucky this year.
Feels like that entire team was maybe asked if he gets a right opportunity again.
Maybe here in Indianapolis.
Maybe back to New York Jets.
But on that note, three number ones is what they made all the moves for.
They have a lot of money.
Everybody's entrusting that this group at the Jets is going to make the right decisions.
I hope they do that because that'd be good for Jets fans.
There's a lot of scary decisions that have already been made there, though,
that make us wonder if they're going to be good decision makers.
Hopefully they'll be able to do that.
Let's head back to the free agency friend zone over there with the two fun guys,
Dan Orlovsky and Pete Schrager.
Orlovsky, what quarterback's story is kind of most intriguing to you?
Obviously, you told us about Kyler dropping into Kevin O'Connell's offensive system.
Kyler, more of a freestyle guy, Kevin O'Connell's system, more locked in.
Gino Smith heading into Frank Reich's potentially over there in New York for the Jets.
Tua at Atlanta with Kevin Stefanski.
What are the, Malik in Miami?
What are your new quarterback situations that are seemingly brewing?
What are your thoughts on them?
and who's not going to be ass, you think?
I'll start in Atlanta with Tua.
I really believe that this was the right choice for both parties.
The place in Tua, for Tua's perspective, the place in Atlanta.
Best offensive line Tua has ever played with, not even close.
And then they are loaded with talent.
Obviously, Bijon, Drake London.
They signed, who's the receiver from the Philadelphia Eagles?
Johan.
John Dotson.
John Dotson.
Correct.
Thank you for that for tone.
So, like, there's plenty of talent and they've tagged Cal Pitts.
So I'm not telling everybody that this is going to be Sam Darnold in Seattle last year.
But I do think that the conversation over the last 24 hours has been a little bit not real when it comes to it.
Two years ago, he was in the MVP conversation, led the NFL in passing.
Definitely a decline, no doubt.
But if they can find ways to kind of mesh the systems together, that's a big.
I also think it makes sense for Atlanta.
We have no idea what my.
Michael Penix is going to be when he comes back, if he comes back, how it's going to operate all that,
okay? I think it's the, let's figure out what we have at the quarterback spot this year.
And if either of these guys blows our mind for Ken Cefansky and Matt Ryan, great, if not 2027.
I think my attention right now is focused on probably some other places.
Number one, Arizona. Arizona signed Gardner Menshu, no question, that that's like a good,
a backup role. But is Michael Flore going to go?
going to the first season as a head coach with just him. Are they a team that you pay attention to
in the draft, maybe? Are they going to try to move down in the draft and maybe be a guy for a play
for a guy in the draft, a Ty Simpson, a Drew Aller, a Garrett Nussmeyer, something like that.
I'll bring this up to you. Honest, if you're the Indianapolis Colts.
Well, okay. If you're the Indianapolis Colts, what would you rather do?
chase after
Tyler Murray for a million,
a million and a half,
or be strangleholded by
Daniel Jones and his group
for 50 plus million.
What was this guy?
Who said 50 million?
That's a good question.
It's out there.
I don't need you rear naked
choking my opinions and thoughts
right now in this free agency frenzy.
What would you rather do?
So.
What a bit a tough spot.
Dan, is that real?
Who are you reading?
Is this somebody,
is this, uh,
I got fake news garage
at fake news garage, some troll making this up that they wanted 50 million?
Or did they tell you exactly that Daniel Jones is looking for 50 million plus a year
because of what happened coming fresh off a broken leg on one side
and it tore an Achilles on the other side?
And we don't know when he's going to be healthy.
I'm just saying it's an interesting situation.
I don't know.
I know.
I've not heard 50 million or whatnot.
But I do think there are reports that they offered him something similar to a Sam Darnel deal.
Which is three for 100.
I do believe if you go back and do the math, the transition tag here that he's on is like 36.8.
so it's actually a little bit more.
Maybe if they did offer them
a Sam Darno deal,
but once again,
we don't know what's real
and what isn't real.
Both teams and agents
are trying to get numbers out there,
you know.
Oh yeah.
To try it, to try in,
in between our rooms.
You know what I mean?
They're trying to set.
No, he can't hear it.
Sheffers in his,
yeah, he can't hear shit right there.
He can't hear anything.
They don't tell me anything.
They don't tell me anything.
But there's always news
getting sent out for different reasons.
If Daniel Jones is able to get
like a three-year,
$150 million deal to play quarterback,
I'll be so happy for him.
I'll be so happy for him.
Now, I don't think that's feasible for the Colts to do,
especially after what we just did for Alec Pierce
and what we're going to have to do for Jonathan Taylor
and all these things.
And was Daniel Jones the only one
that really brought us happiness and excitement?
Yes.
So is that the right decision?
I don't know.
But to your point, if we can get Kyler in that Shane stocking offense.
Oh, man.
Him and JT in the same back film?
And it's a million dollars.
I want Daniel Jones.
Please.
Sure.
Final answer.
broken leg tore an Achilles and all.
He was playing with broken legs.
Still burning it.
And they said, why do he tears his Achilles?
Why have broken fucking leg?
What did he tear the Achilles?
What's point of, it was November?
They were eight and two at the time.
So let's call it Thanksgiving World.
I mean, what is, we saw that Kirk Cousins,
now I think Daniel's probably six years younger than when Kirk did it,
but you're still dealing with the reality of Daniel Jones.
I would agree.
Three or a hundred fifty,
I'd be ecstatic for him.
He has the ACL for his time in New York, right?
Didn't he do his ACL in New York?
and there's an Achilles tear.
I think there's things that the Colts
who feel like, okay,
some good things are happening.
I just think it's an interesting situation
to just pay attention to.
What are you on, Bazzi?
I put me in a strangle hole.
Yeah, because we're living in a good times right now.
Look at this.
This was a good time to be a Coltsman.
Pairs.
He's back.
He's back.
We gave him to it.
We gave it.
We paid.
We were appreciative of that.
He's back.
We were winning everything.
We're eight and two, Dana.
No one.
in a league. You guys weren't talking about it on Get Up and First Acre NFL
live, which we felt the disrespect for it. But for our, on our show,
number one headline coming out of NFL was that the culture going to win in Super Bowl.
That's what it was. And then there was people in New York there were I was like,
Daniel Jones is going to Daniel Jones. And then he just kept getting better and better and
better. And then we came back from a biweek and a guy can't move.
Yeah. Then he got a broken leg.
What were the numbers? 93%? 97%?
93% pessimism.
And I was certainly in that group.
Yes, you were.
I never thought I'd be here today, but it's Daniel Jones, no matter what.
Okay, so 50 million a year, Daniel Jones?
Yes.
Me too.
Back to you, Dan.
That's our final answer.
Boom.
We want Dan Jones at 50 million years.
Fuck it.
65 million a year.
Let's not forget that Riley torched the Texans defense late in the year.
Can I stand up for the member?
Riley Leonard on enough enough.
Can I stand up for the editorial choices of the other programming on this fine network?
The Dallas Cowboys do move the needle.
We're very relevant when we were talking about the Micah Parsons trade.
We only report the news and we have to respond to what's in the headlines, Pat.
Peter Shrega.
Okay.
I understand.
I understand.
You're talking about why you guys didn't talk about the Colts being great.
Got it.
I appreciate you clarifying that entire thing.
And I understand you have to get that convo off.
I get it, honestly.
And listen, if you guys can book Jerry on there a little bit more, we'd all be appreciative.
Yeah.
He's working land man, stupendous.
I mean, absolutely.
Great.
Stupendous.
He was great, Danny.
He literally was.
I don't watch TV.
Kyler and Indianapolis would be crazy,
but it seems like all the signs,
I don't watch TV, this guy.
You don't watch college football either.
You make it apparent.
Oh.
Got him.
Okay, you do that.
But Kyler to the Vikings seemingly just already done.
Yeah.
Sounds like it.
Lock that in.
Well, weren't they interested in Daniel Jones too last year?
Correct.
It might still be.
Shrags go on.
Well, I think the assumption is that, you know,
we talked about parental leave and we talked about Sam Darnold,
but there really was a piece of this.
where it was Daniel Jones and Sam Darnel leaving Minnesota,
which was part of the decision to let Quasi Adofo Mentsa go as the general manager,
that the thought that we could have both of those players in our room,
and both of those guys, Donald and Jones,
have these successful seasons elsewhere,
was almost the cardinal sin of what this last organization was with the Minnesota Vikings.
They love Daniel Jones there.
I don't think that is the next landing spot for Daniel Jones.
I think Indianapolis makes a ton of sense,
and it seems like they like him.
The question is, what are the numbers going to be?
And gosh, I mean, Kyler for a million three or Daniel Jones for even 30-something.
And then you throw in the J.J. McCarthy of it all.
It is a conversation worth having.
And it's a Daniel Jones that there's a question mark of health.
That's also, it's not Daniel Jones that was playing top five, top seven football last year.
It's Daniel Jones.
It does have a little bit of the health question.
But I do think this is it.
And I would bring it back to you guys at the toxic table.
there's an off-the-field element where it felt like Daniel Jones
meshed with that organization,
meshed with that coaching staff,
and the city seemed like they were loving the whole Daniel Jones story.
That doesn't go into the film work and the stat sheets
and the numbers like we have over here.
Guys having beers a tin whistle.
Exactly.
I have Indianapolis Motor Speedways Indy 500.
So, I mean, the guy took to the city like a fish to water
and he won immediately into what Debutt said.
I don't know if you guys even saw this.
there was an optimism poll done by the New York Times, right?
I believe it was New York Times, athletic or whatever, for every fan.
Now, who takes these polls?
Obviously, nobody I know or people, nobody likes me from my understanding of how these polls go.
I've never understood it.
But there was a 96 or 97 percent, like, pessimism rate for Colts fans that took that poll
for going into the season with Daniel Jones or Anthony Richardson being the quarterback.
I mean, it was just like the Colts are asked, their fans even think they're asked,
nobody's happy. Now, I
tried my absolute best
to remain optimistic because we only
got 17 games a year.
You promise to us, okay? So if you go into a season,
just thinking your ass, that's a bad way to view the NFL.
That's a bad way to view football season.
Football season is a massive piece of my life.
I would like to have a little bit of something to wake up to.
So whenever Daniel Jones comes in,
I start watching the highlights of Daniel Jones.
I go and meet Daniel Jones. I go, holy shit, this is a big guy.
Huge.
This is a big guy.
And I start remembering the glory days.
on Daniel Jones is over for rushing,
which you're not going to be able to do in Massachusetts,
seems like for a while,
over on rushing for Daniel Jones,
and it always hitting,
it's like, wait a minute, this guy is athletic,
wait a minute, this guy has played some good football,
and wait a minute, do we have any other option?
Not really.
From everything that we had heard inside the building,
it was not a very good culture.
So having somebody from the outside come in,
turn our team into what he did,
and play the ball that we saw,
I think that's why you're getting us saying,
give him $100 million a year,
if that's what he knew.
Those were a magical times,
and we felt alive,
And we felt like we had a chance.
And that's why I think these types of free agency frenzy days are so important,
because the teams that are absolute shite we're talking about.
Tennessee Titans, the Raiders, I mean, the commanders were in the game.
They didn't make it into the playoffs.
It's like these days when these things happen, you have hope, you have optimism.
You think that maybe whenever we're 8 to 10 weeks into the season,
we're still going to be able to talk shit that our team has a chance to wind to Lombardi.
We had all those things with Daniel Jones.
And we've had 100 other quarterbacks where we were nowhere near having that.
So Dan Orlovsky, I think you're going to hear us say,
give us Daniel Jones or give us nothing.
All right.
Even if he can't run for three months.
I love that.
I love that.
I don't, again, I don't disagree with you a ton.
I do think it's a really good football team that's going to need good quarterback
play, and hopefully that's going to be Daniel.
But I do think it's interesting.
I'll throw another two out at you, okay?
Wait, before you do that, I got one, guys.
I don't have the Schefter tweet thing.
This is not as big a news as some of the other ones,
but it's a player that mattered for the Giants.
year. Adam, if you're listening,
Micah McFadden, Giants
linebacker, returning to the New York
Giants. I'm getting the text right now.
They've agreed to terms on a one-year deal.
Continue.
I love that.
And that's Terrell Edmunds.
They signed him.
Wow, he stays with the Giants. Good for him.
That's McFadden Football, though.
That's right. Yeah, we like that.
I'll throw in this one, you probably have a little bit of
information on. Just if you're a Browns fan or a
a Jacks fan.
Okay?
With the Browns.
Do the fan base, does the fan base want to go ahead and say, Todd Monkin, play Chador Sanders,
and he's our starting quarterback or Deshaun Watson or Dylan Gabriel, but it feels like Chador?
And if it's great, it's great.
If not, we're going to 2027.
Is that a thought process?
And the same with the New York Jets.
Like, are the Jets?
If you're a Jets fan, would you prefer to sign Gino Smith or Kirk Cousins and try to be competitive
in some games this year because they've made some good additions?
or are you like, no, win as little games as possible?
Oh, we're not doing the NBA over here.
No, I'm telling as a fan base.
I'm talking as a fan base.
Like, let's be literal here.
Let's be real, not, you know, fantasy.
Like three first round picks next year?
Yeah.
They got five picks in the top, I think, 44 this year.
You can win some games.
Archman.
You can win some games still.
I know, but that's my thing.
Is like, do you want to sign one of those quarterbacks to win some games?
If you're Aaron Glenn, I'm sure you do.
If you're Aaron Glenn, I'm sure you want to be as competitive as
possible winning many games.
What about Firemanette going out there?
I just think it's interesting to have the conversation of like, what's the actual
quarterback move then?
I think there are just fans that are warming up to Ty Simpson getting picked with their
second first round pick this year.
That's 16?
Yeah, and then if it goes well, it goes well.
And if it doesn't, then just doing the same thing next year, punting on them and then
drafts in a different quarterback.
We would like to go on the record that although we have attacked Dan Rolovsky for what
he has said about Fernando Mendoza, we are Ty Simpson.
fans as well. We think Ty Simpson
also very athletic, great leader.
Great leader, which I think is a big deal.
I think he is a beers with the boys got.
So we obviously love that.
And he can spin it. Now, he did get banged up
pretty good. He was in a bad spot. He got banged up
pretty pretty good. And that Roseball game too,
when Pons hit him in his spine, and that ball
got ejected. I mean, he was taking some monster
shots, which that Indiana team was doing
everybody and wasn't really being talked about.
So Ty Simpson as your quarterback, if you think
he can be your NFL quarterback, everybody's talking about, can't go
top five, can't go top ten. He'd see him as two.
like, Panics wasn't supposed to go in panics, when.
If one of these teams thinks he can be their quarterback,
they will pull the trigger.
The quarterback position matters more than anything else,
especially with what we're seeing with the quarterback market right now.
Yeah, if the Jets think Ty Simpson is a guy, they'll take Ty.
But to Dan's point, there's a lot of speculation that, yes,
with those three first-round picks next year,
you can go get whatever quarterback you want.
If you look at it right now,
supposed to be a loaded quarterback draft.
Now, this one was supposed to be too.
Yes, it was.
Nuss Meyer and Aller and Clemson, thank you.
Club Nick.
Cade Clubnick, like these guys were all projected to be really good.
Mark Grinowski, obviously.
Dante Moore, Sellers.
Arch, right?
Wasn't Arch?
Oh, yeah.
But like, so, yes, this one was supposed to be that.
Next year is obviously supposed to be that as well.
So, I mean, there's talk, like, I mean, that's a front office decision that Jets are going to have to make.
Hey, Shregs, where's that draft at?
Next year?
Yeah.
Washington, D.C.
No, no, this year.
This year, sorry.
This year, it's in Pittsburgh.
You're damn right it is.
you see Pittsburgh Steelers signed
Rico Dowdoll.
I did see that.
It's good sign.
Rico Dow signs with the
Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, Pittsburgh Steelers
fans are used to ground and pound football.
They're used to good defense. And they're not
scared to go ahead and pound another team
right in the face. RICO runs
hard. Rico is great.
And Rico was on a
good football team last year. And they
were a good football team last year
a lot because of Rico Dowdo. A lot of
these highlights are going to be against a few different teams
where he dominated, but one of them was certainly the Packers' tie.
This guy's a player.
He's a playmaker.
Down the stretch, he didn't do as much.
I don't know if he wasn't getting the ball or what the case was,
but the Steelers pick up a good one here.
Yeah, I think it was, you know, Chuba Hubbard got hurt early,
and he kind of got all the carries.
And then all of a sudden, you know, he just, he ripped so many, you know,
200-yard games off in a row.
I mean, that's what, I remember, you know, a big part of that for people who maybe
didn't know them in fantasy.
They're like, who is this guy for, you know, the Panthers who's coming out of nowhere.
But last year or two years ago with the Cowboys, he also was a thousand-yard rusher, and he was splitting carries.
So we'll see.
I mean, obviously, they still have Jalen Warren.
But when I saw this last night that the Steelers got Dowdell, I was just thinking like, well, okay, they won free agency.
I wanted Dowdell.
They don't have a quarter.
Who's handing a little ball?
That's question, I guess.
What Dan said is guaranteed who their quarterback is going to be.
Who's that? He said that this morning.
Yeah.
Yeah. He said put it in pen, right?
Yeah.
Not pencil.
He said Aaron Rogers is going to be the quarterback.
Dan, oh, any reason for you to just make,
statements like that on television?
Do you just feel that way or do you actually know this?
No, I know absolutely nothing.
It's just how I feel.
Okay.
You say everything with such conviction.
Pay attention to the offseason, though.
This is an organization that has improved their football team.
Aaron played good football last year.
They hired the head coach that for the majority of Aaron's career,
that was his head coach.
And they trade for a big-bodied possession receiver
to win one-on-ones and have a massive catch radius.
They did nothing to be attached to any other free agent quarterback,
specifically Malik Willis.
They've done nothing to potentially move up in the draft.
I don't necessarily sit here and believe Ty Simpson's a ideal landing spot,
or Pittsburgh's an ideal landing spot for a player like Ty Simpson.
He's not the big quintessential, six-foot-four, 230-pound guy
that's probably needed in the Pittsburgh area when it comes to their weather and having to play
quarterback. And so I just sit there and I go, I think the Pittsburgh Steelers are probably too
well run to just go blindfolded. And I'm not saying anything negative about Will Howard. But
I think that would be a pretty significant roll of the dice to go just ahead with Will Howard.
So I just believe Aaron's already kind of hinted to them like, hey, I feel like it's trending in the
right direction. You agree, Shregs? I thought his interview,
with you guys was the most revealing thing we've had when he went through one to 70 on the roster
and praised every player and talked about Ben Skorallnick's headphones for over 30 minutes. I look at that
stuff and I'm like there's a lot of fondness there and there's a lot of love and it didn't seem like
it was goodbye. Thank you Pittsburgh for the memories. It was let's talk about the Dairy Queen
competitor and how great the ice cream was this last summer and let's keep it rolling. That's just
my assumption. I think the most revelatory stuff we got was on this very show in that interview
had with him where it didn't feel like goodbye, but I understand if a Steelers fan is saying,
well, then rip the bandit off, just tell us you're coming back. I get that also.
Yeah, and I think he was mentioning, too, that the Steelers didn't really tell him anything either.
So they got to figure that whole thing out. I wonder what that contract would look like at this
stage. He was playing for what, $10 million a year? Yeah, it took a discount.
Yeah, I think there was other teams that potentially did have a little bit more on the plate
for him whenever he was there, because although some media, not all, okay, we don't want to paint
everybody in the same light. We do a lot of broad brush paint.
Sure. People are saying nice stuff.
Yeah. For now. True.
But still, always nice to have someone say something nice about you.
Yeah.
You get a little twigling. You're like, that's very kind of you to do that.
But nonetheless, some sports media folks do not like Aaron Rogers, obviously.
So they would like to watch him disappear and not have to talk about him ever again.
So whenever he comes out and defends himself or anything, and Aaron goes, I don't like talking.
And everybody goes, well, you're talking right now.
So there's always going to be stuff that's held against him.
but honestly, him taking a $10 million deal last year was better than what some of the other places,
I think he was going to be able to get paid or what he could have commanded from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He likes that a fact that they had a team that could have won on a run, wants to win.
That's just all from stuff that he has said publicly and to us.
So I think it would be a good deal for the Steelers.
He knows Mike McCarthy's system, obviously inside and out.
It's literally his system.
You get the boys back out there.
Who knows what they're going to do about the field on Accresure, which...
They're replacing it.
Is that real?
Yes, they are replacing it with the...
same grass that the Eagles use
at their stadium that came out right after
the court guards. Okay, so it's a long
concert there this summer. You're going down there?
June 5th, Morgan Wallen.
Last night, Dan let the
liquor talk. I can't
remember everything
I take. Oh, wow, you don't
know the words, huh? It's embarrassing.
You can't remember.
All might come through it. Every page.
Yeah, careful. You're right. DeBone.
He might be going to the same concert, but
they're fixing up the stadium. Mike McFarre.
What's that, Daniel?
Look at me and Shrey just sit and cross, like a bunch of dogs.
Singing Morgan, this is great.
You guys look like brothers.
Yeah, you do.
You look like, we should, we should spell it.
Free F-R-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-N-C-Y.
And then that right there for Frenzy should have been F-R-I-E-N-D.
Oh, F-Zee.
Because you too, right there.
Oh, man, that is good.
There's always next year.
Or maybe to Mars.
Who may have been from Mystic could whip that point?
Yeah.
You guys pretty talent.
You know, this came together in like three days.
Mystic, Connecticut?
Yeah, it's up there in Massachusetts, I do believe.
Yeah, New England Company, Ben's the talent.
You guys have been phenomenal.
Will you stick around for another hour?
Absolutely.
I'm here, brother.
We're here.
We love it.
Having the best time, dude.
Dan, how do you feel like your little sports performance one earlier at the Thunderdown?
I was pretty bummed that I didn't knock down the jumper sooner.
Also, every jumper that I did a little bit in my runaround was short.
So to do too long, bummed about it.
Love the pitch.
I told you guys it was going to be a knee-high fastball.
shout out to Gumpy for catching it.
The punch, I'm okay with it.
The putt was amazing.
And the putt, I haven't made a putt like that in 15 years, so I was happy it went down.
Boy.
Proud of you, Dano.
Good to step up.
Baby Donald.
You've done great work.
I'm going to go play right now in commercial break, actually.
Yeah, of course, it's impossible to get anything done or to think because Dano's out here
as a 12-year-old playing with all the games, and that's a good thing, because that's
what sports are supposed to be about.
Exciting.
Magical Times happening.
Free agency frenzy continues.
Connor McGo will join us next hour.
He's just signed a, uh, a,
throw another alley to
shoot it, we got 10, 9,
8, 7,
bang.
Oh, this guy sucks at that.
3's on the other side.
Yeah, I got.
Oh my.
See you then.
9-1-1, where is the emergency?
It's the middle of the night
in a small town on the Jersey shore.
Someone reports an abandoned car on a bridge.
A search gets underway for the missing drive.
driver, 19-year-old Sarah Stern.
Is it a missing person?
Is it a suicide?
At this point, nobody knows.
Old friendships, buried cash, and a sinister plot that was once pitched as a movie, plays out in real life.
I'm Jiu Chang from 2020 and ABC Audio.
Listen now to Bridge of Lies, wherever you get your podcasts.
Welcome back to the Thunderdome.
The Home.
of the NFL's free agency frenzy.
It's chaotic. It's magic.
It's ball to a tee.
It's dreams coming true.
It's teams trying to win a Lombardi and it's players who have worked their entire lives for a moment
to change the trajectory of their family tree.
And for generations to come, they earn these bags over the next couple of days
for playing a sport that they've loved since they were very young.
We're so incredibly lucky that we get a chance to chat about it
and celebrate these guys and everything that they've accomplished in their lives.
The toxic tip was here at Boston Connor and at Ty Schmidt.
One half of the Hammer.
Cowboys AP tone is here.
How do you feel about where the Steelers sit right now?
I feel, feel really, really good.
Got no quarterback.
That's good point.
Everyone does say that, and that is correct.
But with the moves yesterday, Jamel Dean, great cornerback.
Michael Pittman, solid wide receiver, needed that.
And then Rico, Dal, in the backfield with Jaylon Warren.
I feel really good about it.
Yinser is trying to say that dude's name is going to be fantastic forever.
Nine-year NFL vet.
Darius Jay Butler is here.
He, Bunch.
It's been a quarter.
Quiet day two of this free agency frenzy, do you think people are potentially utilizing the one hour conversation that has been added into the repertoire for teams before they sign a free agent?
Is that for day two signs? Day one, hard to schedule an hour convo because somebody else might make a better offer and not have it.
Day two, maybe they're talking to these guys. They get five conversations with free agents, one hour at max.
This has never happened before. This is the first year. Is that when this is happening, I wonder.
I don't know. I don't think so based on the people.
You think they don't want to waste time.
Based on the people we've talked to, and as a player, I know when you go past that first day, it sucks.
It gets real tense, just like when you're sitting there in your draft night and you're expected going in a few different slots.
So I'm supposed to go between 15 and 25 and then you get kind of the 23.
You're not getting those calls that you want it.
It's kind of like that for the free agents that are still out there.
But hopefully we get some news pretty soon.
Here with some big names.
Yeah, we do.
We do got some big names.
Oh!
Big guys, it looks.
Maybe not big names.
Offensive lineman Braden
Smith has reached an agreement with the
Houston Texans on a two-year
$25 million deal, including
13.5 million fully guaranteed
per his agent. Michael Parrott. He's
not a parrot. He comes up with the thoughts. He doesn't
echo him. He's from priority sports.
Okay, so Braden Smith is heading
to Houston. Let's head to the man that
broke the news. Let's go to the senior
NFL insider for ESPN.
Adam Schaefter. What are the coach doing?
Will this guy go to Houston?
Well, they let them go to Houston.
The Houston Texans fortifying their offensive line.
They've been in the market to do that.
That's been a focus for them throughout the offseason.
Now they get a deal done, taking a player from their division rival, Braden Smith,
the Texas has been busy today.
Short time ago, they also extend their kicker, Kayami Fairburn,
making him the highest paid kicker in the league.
So Fairburn gets a new deal.
Braden Smith gets a new deal.
The Houston Texans keeping busy today.
And they still have a Will Anderson extension on deck at some point.
here in the coming weeks.
That deal, I'm sure we'll get done.
He's too good a player, too important
to the franchise. We expect a Will Anderson
extension in the weeks to come that make him
one of the highest paid players in the NFL.
Did I read that the DeNeil Hunter didn't go through?
Why is it too much money? Too guaranteed.
No, it's just voided. Their rework is not an issue.
It's going to get done. What is it, though? What's that
mean? I've never seen that before. This is like whenever
old buddy Chris Paul was about to get traded from
New Orleans to L.A. and Stern, I believe,
stopped in and said, nah, because they were running one of the teams at the time.
They stopped the trade.
Now, everybody's obviously got upset about that.
I don't think I've heard of a contract,
especially of this magnitude, $40 million plus to this good of a player,
a part of the Houston Sack station down there,
all of a sudden get announced, it happens.
And then before the league year even starts, they're like,
we don't know if that deal is allowed.
Was there like stuff in there that's not allowed?
The week sends it back.
It was him and it was Dalton Schultz,
and they just rework the language on it, and it gets done.
It's not going to be an issue.
What's the language?
Like, I get a plane?
Honestly, like, what could that part?
I really don't know exactly how it works that way
because you don't see it very often, okay?
But they avoided it, sent it back to a review to rewrite,
and now it'll be sent in.
It'll be the same terms, and it'll get done, Pat.
So an NFL lawyer looked at that.
He's not a lot to get a bass pro fishing.
I mean, what is this guy?
He wants a Ford F5.
I don't even know if they make a five.
Ram truck, this guy.
What are we doing here?
This is not a lot.
What would it be, genuinely?
I don't know.
Somebody would have to be trying to sneak something,
especially because this is a collectively bargained contract
that is basically bare bones.
This is what a contract is.
You put the number, then you put how long it's going to be,
then sorting out when the money's coming
is a big part of the negotiation.
Everything else is kind of standard operating procedure.
I do believe for the contracts.
Yeah.
So somebody had to try to sneak something in there,
which I, that's why we found out about the clause in Kyler Murray.
Yes.
Because I was like snuck in there.
That's not normal because these contracts are kind of,
just pretty set up at this point with all the different union negotiations that have taken
place.
That's funny though.
I would like to know what that was.
Very odd.
Was it Casario trying to get one?
Yeah, maybe something like, hey, if, you know, the tribal chief becomes the world
champion.
Which he should.
Which he should.
Then we'll, sorry, Daniel Hunter, you will have to kind of challenge him for the
strap.
Actually, Daniel, if our tribal chief does once again become unspewed world champion
in the WWE universe.
Casario knows he might have to go join tribal chief.
So Danio Hunter actually picks up general management in the entire role.
Because Casario has bigger things to climb like we need our tribal chief to continue to be championed
and not lose that thing ever again and disappear because we know what happens.
So that's what Casario kind of knows.
Yeah, hey, listen, I'm going to be gone a lot on the road to rest of him.
Shreggs, what could that have been?
You're in these weeds a little bit more as we head over to the free agency friend Z with Shregs and Orlovsky.
Shreggs, what could that be? Why would a deal get sent back by the league? Somebody's trying to get one over on somebody?
Well, there's a compliance office at the league that checks over all these contracts. And when you get an extension of that size, I'm sure there's some clause or there's something that the league looks over and says, okay, let's do this another run through. But to Adam's point, the player and the team want to be there. The league's not going to hold that up. It's just kind of procedural. And I wish I had a more concrete example. But this is the same stuff that goes through with any company when you go through the lawyers and they get their fee. And we go from there.
Yeah, lawyers are the greatest.
I reached out to the league for comment.
You did?
I will.
Okay, please do.
I hope we get a statement.
And the lawyers, we understand.
We appreciate.
Okay, we understand.
You guys are super geniuses.
We acknowledge.
Yeah, we acknowledge.
We acknowledge.
You guys are super geniuses.
Thank you so much.
We need you.
Shout to Sarah Decker, by the way.
Plum High School graduate, 05 class.
Badass lawyer.
Sarah, we appreciate you a lot.
Hell yeah.
Formerly Sarah Bronder.
Let's stay with Shragge real quick.
49ers are open to trading Hall of Fame left tackle.
Trent Williams. What's this mean? That means any team can get a Trent Williams right now?
What would that trade look like? And how real is this for the San Francisco 49ers and Trent
Williams? That feels like a big deal. If you look at the record the Niners are with him playing
and without him playing, boy, that without him playing one, not very happy, not very successful
with him playing a lot of winning. He's a stud, obviously. What went wrong and who can get him?
You could argue he's still the best left tackle in the sport. And on any given day, he's the player
that defensive ends fear the most.
Like I said with A.J. Brown, and like we had with Max Crosby,
John Lynch's phone line is open.
Do you want the best tackle of his generation?
Okay, well, what's it going to cost?
Because his number right now, and what he's expecting,
if he gets another contract, is going to be exorbitant.
So let's explore this.
Let's see.
But I don't think that's coming out from the 49ers.
I think that's obviously a report from us in the media.
And let's see if the 49ers do get calls.
This is how this works usually.
He could be had if you have a lot.
certain number.
If you have a certain offer, but make no mistake about it.
The 49ers absolutely love Trent Williams.
They want to get it done.
The numbers, though, just like we have seen with so many star players in the last
couple of years, the numbers have to make sense.
They're not the only one.
He's not the only one that's potentially on the trade block.
Feels like everybody's potentially on the trade block all the time with the way these
GMs talk.
Some other big names and notables, though, Tone.
Yeah, there was a lot last night kind of after, I mean, the dust never really
settled last night, but it did a little bit.
And Brian Thomas Jr., the wide receiver from the Jacksonville Jaguars.
His name was out there a bit.
I don't know how credible that is,
but it was definitely out there.
He was obviously incredible as a rookie,
and then had a bit of a down year last year,
but still really good,
especially when Jacobi Myers came over.
And then of the Pittsburgh Steelers,
linebacker Patrick Queen,
I saw that all over my timeline last night, obviously,
but his name has also been out there as well.
Once again, these were out there.
They were reported.
They weren't reported by Shephti or anybody like that,
but it was out there.
It's just something that could potentially be,
out there to watch. Let's head into Shefti to hear
what his thoughts are on. Is everybody
tradable at this time? Because
we are Max Crosby. He's traded.
He's not tradable. A.J. Brown.
He's potentially trade. He's not tradable.
But if you make a good enough offer, is everybody kind of
available with the way these conversations
go? Okay, so we got Trent Williams, Patrick
Queen, and who's the third guy? And Brian
Thomas. Okay. Let's address him one by one.
Okay. Trent Williams, first of all, they have
been discussing a new deal. And so on
Saturday, when he wants a certain amount of money, the
Niners say to him, hey, look, you think you're worth
that money and we can't reach this agreement. If you want to go find that from another team
that will then give us back the value of like a first round draft pick because you want all this
money, then we'll be willing to listen. But the 49ers aren't shopping him and he's not expected
to be traded. Now could something materialize? Sure, something always could, but I don't think that
that's probably a realistic option and it's more along the lines of them placating him, say,
go ahead and see if you could find somebody willing to pay you that and take care of them
at the same time. That's a tough doubleheader to satisfy. As for Brian Thomas, I've been told
that the Jaguars are not interested in trading him. They've denied it repeatedly. His name
continues to come up in social media circles, floated out there. And again, for whatever reason,
it doesn't go away. But every indication that I've gotten back is the Jaguars have no interest
in moving on from Brian Thomas despite all the speculation that's out there. And the Patrick
Queen one is unusual because that also continues to float out there.
there. The Pittsburgh Steelers say they're not interested in moving off from him. This could be maybe
a money issue where he might be looking for more or maybe they want him to take a pay cut that he's
unwilling to take right now. So that one we could pay attention to, but it doesn't sound like it's
pressing at this moment. Okay. We appreciate you doing the rundown. Let's talk about a man who just got a
brand new deal to stay where he was, a guy who signed for $32 million guaranteed and a $52 million total
deal on Saturday to remain the center for the Buffalo Baylor.
Ladies and gentlemen, Penn State Lad,
Connor McGover.
Yay, Connor!
Thank you,
how are you?
Connor, you look strapping, young lad, don't you?
Geez, Louise, nice fresh.
You look good in a tank top.
Fresh shave, we're good to go.
We got a little tan going on.
We're all set right now.
Congrats on the new deal.
How excited are you for this next generation,
this next era of Buffalo Bill's football
as you head into a new stadium up there, Connor?
Oh, we can't wait.
I'm gonna say, I don't think Josh went
another center in front of him.
He just wanna stare at my ass all the time.
He's happy on the still here, so we're good to go.
That's a good part of that.
I mean, as long as he enjoys what's going on,
I feel like that's a pretty crucial relationship.
Let's talk about your guys' offensive line.
I believe AQ Shepley called you guys the number one
offensive line in the NFL.
You won the trenchy.
I don't know if you know that.
Congratulations.
You did know that?
Thank you, thank you.
No, we did.
We're big fans of AQ here.
Oh, okay.
That's huge for AQ.
AQ is going to really, I mean, there's a FaceTime coming going,
huh?
Did you hear him?
They know that I...
I love my Penn State Center right there.
Oh, yes.
Obviously, Remington Award winner.
Okay, so he had you as the best offensive line in ball.
James Cook, obviously, rushing leader.
Josh Allen, MVP conversation every single year.
How do you feel about the group up front?
How do you feel about the boys in you coming back?
What do you think that messaging is from Bean to the offense under a new Joe Brady head coach?
Beans made a forefront that rebuild the offense line.
They didn't want to rebuild it.
Keeping four out of the five.
David Edwards is going to Orleans.
I know he's going to do a great job down there.
But the good thing is the past few years,
like we really haven't missed many games,
not gone wood, so we've grown a lot together
and get the continuous for the next few years,
have someone sliding the left guard.
I think we're in a great spot.
I just got sent a video of you buying a bunch of pizza.
Are you like pizza, Paezona?
Are you Connor Mick Governe?
You big Pisona, big pizza.
Do you make these pizzas?
What's the pizza story here in Buffalo?
So right now, I actually have some right here.
So from my favorite spot here,
Pateria Florian brought some in for the whole media today.
But my thing is, I make pizza for the guys.
We do it a couple times throughout a year.
I don't know how many times we've done over the last three years,
but we're something like 16 and 1 when we do it.
So we're very superstitious about these pizza Fridays
when I make you for the guys.
Oh, you're whipping the dough there?
You're doing all of this?
How are you?
Oh, we do everything.
Everything is made from scratch when I do it.
Yeah, we're throwing it up, making everything from scratch,
sauce, everything.
You're pisoned?
Oh, yes, everything.
Are you pison on?
Are you Italian?
Are you Italian?
Oh, no, no, no, not at all.
I have no Italian in me.
I look, I got the black hair.
I got the mustache going I do there in season, but no Italian.
Yeah, making pizza flipping dough.
I mean, there's a lot of potential.
I'm just a big white guy that likes to eat.
I like that.
What's the topping?
What's our favorite topping of pizza?
So everyone loves the hot honey up here,
but the biggest thing, like, number one that goes within seconds,
guys are burning their hands for it, is I make a cheese steak calzone.
Everyone, as soon as it comes out of the oven,
they're going right after it.
Okay, so we're just folding that pizza in half right there, right?
And then are you clamping the ends too?
Are you clamping the ends?
So we're not getting cheese and sauce outside the end?
Exactly.
Yeah, you don't want anything pouring out.
You clamp it together, roll it up, send in the oven.
Yeah, because he burns my hands, you see,
and then it ruins the entire experience.
Yeah, exactly.
You don't want to do that.
How many of these are you, but do you have a pizza oven?
Like, you just got 32 million guarantee.
Congratulations.
Yeah.
So are you getting like a commercial pizza oven right now?
What are you doing?
A dough maker?
So at my house, so I have, so I have a,
have like pizza steel is like steel plates built into my oven and so that gets it up so my oven only
gets like 500 degrees put those right in and it's like rocket hot with the steel plates but we're
turn out 30 40 pizzas plus because we get over 30 people every time Jesus Christ oh it's no
laughing at we're like I get home Friday say 12 o'clock I'm prepping for four hours guys come over
cooking for four hours it's an eight hour shift okay okay so you're doing eight hour shifts
so you can feed everybody their own individual pizza with the honey on top of it I
That sounds like a great culture.
That feels like a big piece of your guys' remedy.
Tell me about the culture that has been placed up there in Buffalo,
because it feels like every time we get eyes on it, it looks awesome.
I didn't know a guy who's worth 30-some million guaranteed at offensive line
is whipping pies all day on Friday for the boys.
That's a whole other level of commitment to camaraderie.
But can you tell me about the culture up there and what you think people find when they get there?
It's a very close-knit team.
It doesn't matter, offense, defense, special teams.
We're all just very close.
Like I've been a part of teams where you've got your clicks, your groups.
It's not here.
It's an entire team that everyone loves hanging out with each other.
It's almost like a college vibe, how close we are.
Because there's not really much ado in Buffalo.
A lot of times you snowed in.
So these guys, everyone in the room is just very close with one another.
Can you hang out for like three minutes real quick and then we get back to you?
Of course.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have some massive news.
Oh!
Ladies and gentlemen, there has been some breaking news.
Raiders are sending quarterback Gino Smith and a 2026 seventh round pick to the New York Jets in exchange for a 2026-6th round pick per ESPN sources.
Smith returns to the team for which he started his NFL career in 2013.
He obviously knows the area.
He knows the building.
He knows the stripes.
Does he know how to make that team a winner for the first time in long time?
I guess we shall see.
Now, we are chit-chatting a little bit earlier about, hey, if he's not going to be on a roster, just cut him.
You can always hang on and hope for a trade to take place.
That has happened here.
Let's head to the man who broke the news and kind of alluded to it earlier.
It felt like he knew that what was coming down the pipe.
I don't know if he knew was a trade or not.
Shafty, how did we get to a trade for Gino back to the Jets?
Okay, listen, here's the deal, Pat.
First of we have more breaking news, which we'll get to in a moment.
But essentially, the Jets know that Gino's going to be released.
And it's a situation where they got into discussions with the Raiders.
Jets have all these extra picks.
So they're flipping picks.
and now the Jets get to lock in Gino Smith.
Gino Smith also is going to restructure his contract with the Jets.
So they get them again on a deal.
Well, they'll be helped out.
It won't be the existing contract.
It's going to be restructured.
That's done as well.
So Gino Smith now will be returning to the Jets.
One other piece of breaking news here.
Romeo Dobbs is going to Conner's Patriots.
There we go.
More breaking news.
So the former Packers' wide receiver had a choice of play.
places to go and has decided to go to the New England Patriots.
How many different places did he have?
Can you give us like a rough estimate?
I think in the end he had a lot, but he whittled it down and in the end there were a couple
of teams left.
Okay, a couple of teams left.
One of them being the Patriots, Patriots we had heard in thought through Conner's existence.
Maybe A.J. Brown gets traded up there because of how close he is with Vrable.
Does this completely rule out the A.J. Brown?
No, I don't think it rules it out.
But certainly I think it diminishes the importance that a trade needs to happen.
I think it gives the Patriots a little bit of flexibility.
it adds another receiver to their room.
They needed more help there.
They're going to get Romeo Dobbs here now.
Super Bowl last year.
First year is Rable head coach.
Second year, Drake May, at quarterback.
How do you feel about the pickup of Dobbs?
Obviously, we watch very closely through Ty Schmidt's Green Bay Packers season.
Yeah, very excited, especially because of how massive his head looks in the Guardian cap.
I think it will only look bigger in New England.
It's great just because he's been a number one wide receiver.
You know with the Packers, they had Watson for a little,
but he was kind of in and out of injuries.
and sometimes it was really only Dobbs being Jordan Love's target.
Him, I believe Matt Collins still there.
Kyle Williams will go into his second year.
Very interesting to see what the contract is.
But here in Shephti also say, hey, this doesn't rule out AJ Brown.
That's huge.
Just adding to the room, though.
They added to the pass rush and the edge with Draymond Jones yesterday.
Then they did Elijah Verrett Tucker for the O line.
And now they're doing a receiver.
They're kind of checking off all the big issue boxes that the Patriots had
towards the end of the season.
huge get bringing in Romeo Donald.
I mean, that Guardian cap is gigantic,
but the plays he makes are also special.
Dobbs was a hell of a player for the Packers.
Yeah, he's so good.
It's different types of wide receivers.
We talk about the Mike Evans types where it doesn't matter
how much space he creates.
He's always open because of his size and his catch radius.
Dobbs can make the tough catches,
but he also creates space down after down.
So that's the biggest things wild receivers.
The best ones that we see, they consistently create space.
So you've got a quarterback in an offensive play caller like Josh McDaniels,
Like this is a great pairing for Romeo Dobbs in his next chapter, in his career.
I'm happy for him, too, I know he was dealing with some shit off the field a couple years ago,
so I love to see this, him getting his bag that he earned, and obviously he's a great young player.
Yeah, I love him ball again.
It's great to see him out there having fun.
He's a real talent.
Joining us in the AFCE, Scott, New Ball, Mike.
Connor McGovern, who Center for the Buffalo Bills,
thank you for Dodge Duck, dip diving, and dodging with us through some news breaks.
We might have to do that again.
Last question for you here from Darius J. Butler.
fans, Connor. Thank you for hanging. Is that a big ass bison behind you? It is. I like that.
Of course. Okay, Debo has a question for you. You got a new head coach now with Joe Brady,
but you're obviously very familiar with him. I felt like once he took over play call and that
run game took off. James Cook obviously led the league and rushing last year.
What's your favorite part about Joe Brady's run game and what is your favorite run player?
I remember that Steelers game. I feel like you guys ran you-old 30 times in a row. So yeah,
kind of a two-parter for me. Yeah. No, he brought, I remember two-year
ago when he took over halfway through the year, he just said, we're going back to the basics,
we're going to establish the line of scrimmage up front, and we took that as a challenge
up front, and I think he did a great job just trusting us and talking with Aaron Cromer all the time,
like, hey, what do we like here? What runs are we like? And he's not afraid just to keep
dialing up the same thing over and over as you saw in the Pittsburgh game, running duo,
mid-zone just over and over and over again, and just taking opponent's will to play.
And that's what we feed off up front. But overall, I'd say that duo play,
is my favorite just blocking back on
a monster across from me, just holding
off and just letting it run front side.
Yeah, and you did it.
22, I forget.
I think it was more like 26 or 8.
Yeah, that does feel good.
We all together, we ran 20-some times that game,
and that was by far most fun game.
And we're out two starting offensive alignment.
That was by far the most fun.
We were having so much fun.
She's not like Pop Warner, you know,
let us go back to the days.
What's that?
What?
New team.
Yeah.
New turf.
Bingo, thank you.
Yeah, absolutely. That's what you need.
All right, we appreciate you joining us and bobbing through there.
The bison above your shoulder there, do you know the dimensions of that actual bison?
Do you know what the dimensions are of that one if you had a perspective?
I personally do not, no.
What about the stadium ones?
Yeah.
Stadium ones are going to be big. I know that.
How do you know? Have you had eyes on these things? Have you had eyes on these things?
I'm not saying anything more than that. I know.
Whoa, secretive shit going on up there.
Hey, that's how tight that camarader he is.
This guy's whipping pie for eight hours on Friday's for the boys.
How many Connor McGoverns are the Bison?
Yeah, that's a good call.
Good question.
How many pizzas?
I bet a Bice could put away a lot of pizza, a lot.
Especially yours.
We would love to have one maybe put in the backyard and just feed a pizza.
See how long you go.
Oh, you're living good up there.
Bison in the backyard, $32 million guarantee for a center.
You're the man.
Ladies and gentlemen, the center for the Buffalo Bills, Connor McGovern.
Hey, Connor.
Congrats, Connor.
Thank you.
This guy's making pizzas for 8.
eight hours for the boys. That's awesome. That's unbelievable culture. On a Friday. Fast Friday. We
get in, get out. Everybody, offense alignment. Yeah. I mean, just, yeah, guys, wait until you see what
I got tonight. We're adding a little extra salt to this damn dough. Steaking and cheese.
You guys won't come out of a couple beers, two, three o'clock. I'll be in the middle of trying
to get this 14th batch going at that time. 30 pizzas. Crazy. Eight hours. Love everything about
it. Romeo Dobbs's deal. Is expected to be four years, $70 million.
the New England Patriots. Let's head over to the free agency, Friend Zone with Orlovsky and Shreg.
Shreg's big deal here for Dobbs on day two.
Sure is. And, you know, they don't have Stefan Diggs anymore. You insert Romeo Dobbs,
and that's going to be a big expectation for him to step up. Look, Todd Downing is the wide receivers
coach in New England. Longtime NFL coach. I have to think Orlovsky, you were in a
Todd Downing offense at one point. His best pal in coaching, a guy that he was with with the Jets,
is a guy named Nathaniel Hackett. And you know him well. Who is up the job?
there in Green Bay the last season, watching Dobbs on a day-to-day basis, it was obviously
Hackett. So there's absolutely someone who can vouch for him. Here's the deal with the Patriots.
Everyone is still looking at A.J. Brown as this big fish. But in the meantime, over the, over the
nighttime, they went and got Elijah Vera Tucker, who went healthy, is still a very good offensive
guard. And they pick up Romeo Dobbs, who last year showed that he could be a mature NFL player
and still be able to get it done. Darius Butler mentioned it earlier.
He was suspended for a game by Matt LaFlor and said, hey, just take some time, man.
Like, figure out this is two years ago.
And it was like immaturity issues.
You hear all these things about personal stuff in his life, whatever it was.
And the fans went nuts in Green Bay saying, what are we getting?
And then he came back and had an outstanding back half of the season two years ago.
And then last year was fantastic.
I could not be happier for Romeo Dobs.
$70 million for a guy who people were wondering last year whether he was going to be in the NFL in two years based on, oh, this, that, and whatever.
Very cool signing for them.
But I don't necessarily think they are done.
I still think they are in the AJ Brown market.
Dana, what are your thoughts on Dobbs and what he can do for Drake May?
Totally changes their offense.
I love Romeo Dobbs.
I love him.
I think it's a huge loss for Green Bay or significant loss for Green Bay.
Ty, you can speak to it as well, just being a Packers fan.
I would tell you this, like Dobbs is one of those quintessential one-on-one win guys.
Yep.
Like he wins all the time with his route running.
Also, if you watch him catch him football,
ball is more often than not caught away from his body. He's got strong hands, which I think is a
huge deal when it comes to past catchers. And just from a New England perspective now, I'm telling
you, this is a big deal. Think of the four young pieces they have on the perimeter, okay?
We'll take Dobbs, Youngpeace, boom. Kishon Booty, we saw just totally emerged last year.
Kyle Williams, who's going to be in his second year, there's Speedster, and then Trayvion Henderson.
And so we're watching a team that surprised a lot of people last year, go to Super Bowl.
love this move. I'm telling everybody he's healthy. He's a difference maker on the perimeter.
He was the go-to guy in Green Bay. This is not some second-day free agency signing. This is a big deal.
This is a big acquisition for that offense. Okay. Well, D-But and everybody up here said this is
the second day free agency signing. I mean, that is actually what it is. But it is four years,
$70 million. That's a huge deal. Conman, you're jacked up, brother. Yeah, jacked up because
especially what he said just about like, hey, one-on-one, this guy's going to go win. We haven't had that.
Diggs was that for sure in some spots, but then we saw him in the Super Bowl really couldn't
get open very much.
Romeo Dobbs being that and just being a great red zone target, I know from watching,
you know, Green Bay over the years, having him be that guy for Drake May, especially with how
young he is, is huge.
A dependable guy, too.
Yeah.
Dependable.
Everything you guys are saying one-on-one.
And I don't know why.
When Dan O said Patriots, I just thought like Dion Branch.
And I know, like, outside of the Patriots world, but, like, Dion Branch was, like, a go-to-guy,
very dependable guy, huge moments.
And when I see Romeo Dobbs, I kind of see glimpses of that.
I can't wait to see what this next chapter will be like with him and Drake May.
Good for the Patriots, obviously.
Yeah, it is.
Yeah, we thought they were going to be a little bit more active yesterday.
We thought maybe they'd be in for A.J. Brown.
Maybe they'd be able to send something to Howie Roseman that was enough to get A.J. Brown back with Vrable,
with Drake May and is going into his third year as maybe the best deep ball thrower in the NFL.
So now he's got Dobbs.
I assume they're not done at that particular position.
and the Patriots made Super Bowl in Vraib's first year.
We're 308 days into this,
is what he was saying or something like that
after they lost the Super Bowl.
How do you feel about your team?
We're 3008 days into this.
You can tell like that was going to be,
whatever the number was,
that was going to be like the mantra.
Like, hey, this is where we are right now.
We need to work our asses off.
That's certainly going to help them.
Congrats to him getting a bag, too.
Now, let's talk about bags.
You know, every once in a while,
there's a restructure of a deal whenever a trade happens
to help the new team,
or to hurt the previous team.
Gino Smith restructures his deal to help everything out.
The Raiders will pay the bulk of it,
and the Jets will take on Smith's contract at just over VetMen,
which is like $1.2 million, 1.3 million.
So this is the Russell Wilson deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
This is what Kyler Murray deal is expected to be with whatever team he ends up going to.
When you're getting paid by another team,
you can go ahead and take the vet men to be on the roster
and then let the money build the other spots.
Jets not going to be paying a lot of money to Gino here.
The Jets have a lot of picks.
Jets got money.
Are the Jets a problem?
Gino Smith is a New York jet.
Does that let the world know that this ain't going to be the Jets of last year
where we had to fire the entire coaching staff but the head coach?
This is going to be a whole new era, a whole new time.
And to come full circle, you have to go back to the beginning.
That's true.
And Gino in his era there was waiting.
And now they're right back here.
Let's head to the free agency fund zone.
a man who is from the York Shregs.
Gino Smith, vet men with the Jets.
How do we feel about it?
What are expectations?
Look, if you're looking for some jet fan,
like, though, there's this great fond memories of the Gino Smith era.
Like, I don't know if the fans have that.
They appreciate what Gino did his first two years,
starting as a rookie out of the great school, West Virginia.
Thank you.
And then a couple good years,
and then obviously had the incident in the locker room.
It was all she wrote, and then bounced team to team to team to team.
And then on the other end of it,
now becomes this, like, reliable veteran
who can be a leader in the locker room.
Dan and I did a Dolf, Raiders, Chargers, Monday night game,
met with Gino Smith for 40 minutes.
And interceptions aside, like, this is a guy who has seen it all in the NFL.
And it's been in a million systems.
It comes in, and at the very least, is your bridge quarterback
to whatever the future is.
Jets fans will roll their eyes at anything they do,
and that's just what it is.
Look, it's not going to be Kyler Murray.
It's not Malik Willis.
But Gino could still play quarterback in this league.
And if it was Gino Smith or Joe Flacco or Carson Wentz or whoever it was,
it's not the future, it's the now and it's just to hold it over.
I will say this, though, about the Jets.
He still have a very good, young, offensive line.
So you're putting all the pieces in place,
and Gino Smith is a competent quarterback.
I'm not giving it an A-plus grade by any means,
but at $1.2 million, the guy can still throw a football
and has seen a million things in his NFL career.
He brings some wisdom in a well,
and now he'll be under Frank Reich's leadership.
He's an adult.
They needed an adult in the room.
Brady Cook started the football.
the last five games of their season.
And it's not that, you know, Justin Fields is, come on.
Brady Cook and cooks.
But go ahead, Dan.
No, it's not.
I think that, I think that, um, they, they tried Justin Fields last year.
It didn't go great.
There were some injuries.
I just think having the opportunity to bring Gino there, bring some stability, bring
an adult.
Like, just bring a pro.
He, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, you know, that's, that's, you
did three years ago.
I still think he plays, give them a chance to win games football.
I agree with the offensive line.
It would be a better situation.
The ideal season for the Jets is for them to win a couple games, be competitive, and then really strike in the 2027 draft.
I know I keep saying that, but that's just the reality of the long-term.
And I would add to this.
Last year, the Raiders were very aggressive and Pete Carroll and they brought Gino Smith in,
and the Seahawks, you know, obviously they moved on and they went with Sam Darnold.
But if you go back and you read the media coverage of the.
that entire situation.
Most people said, well, Seattle's making a major risk moving on from Gino Smith to go to
Sam Darnold.
So let's not just look at last year in that Gino, obviously, did not go well in Vegas.
Let's take the bigger picture of this, realize who he's played for, where he has played,
he has been a backup.
And at $1.2 million, what are we talking about here?
That is a fine addition to your team.
Frank Wright, O.C., you're not ready to get back into it over there in New York.
What are the weapons?
What are the New York Jets' weapons?
Breece Hall, he's pumped.
Yeah, Gary Wilson.
Eddie Mitchell.
Breece Hall is real pumped.
He's watching other people's wallets, right?
Yeah, yeah.
Garrett played six games, I think, last year, and was their leading receiver?
Yeah.
Yeah, the Jets have to add a lot.
Strakes, off camera right there.
They got a lot.
They got a lot of time.
They got a lot of chance to figure it all out.
They lost, I think, by 30, the last four games in the season, 30 or more.
I mean, it was a horrendous product.
One of the worst products of football,
we've ever seen was the Jets the final month of the season.
And it's not fair to those fans.
It's not. That is just terrible, terrible thing to put on.
You're selling season tickets. You're selling them.
You're making them come to preseason games.
You're asking them to do all this stuff.
They know that.
They know that it's unacceptable.
So the hope is that they're charting a new path and Gino's an adult and can help
lead them that way.
What's his name, Dano?
Peter Schrege.
That's what it sounded like right there.
My favorite thing for the sweet.
He was breaking it down right there.
Shregs, I love that you just said, I'm going to say what it is.
Because I want to let you know, for the first.
time, I think maybe in this show's existence, I've gotten to a point where I've given up full
hope in an entire franchise. And I don't like that. I like to give everybody hope because
anything can happen in the NFL. You know, literally you had one player, it changes in entire
culture. The Colts go from being like fourth overall pick, no changes, terrible culture.
Daniel Jones comes in, we're eight and two, we're doing magic. Cincinnati Bengals before Joe
Burrow kind of made the Super Bowl, you know, you're kind of in there. I always try to be as
optimistic as possible for every single situation.
When I saw Aaron Glenn get caught sleeping at the combine, I was like, man, the football gods
hate these people.
They hate these guys.
They hate them.
Seriously.
Because there's other people sleeping, but they're choosing not to show my eyes that.
It's like, hey, just want you to know, Jets are doing it again.
There's this, there's this like.
The Jets are doing it again.
Go ahead, Shrek.
There's this persona of like, oh, I'm the Jet fan.
And I mean, I'm saying this in general of like, jet fans of like, oh, I'm just cursed.
And I can't believe.
And you saw the meme with the kids saying, like, why don't it?
like at the end of the day like it sucks it sucks it sucks it sucks being a jet fan because they have
this streak of the longest streak of not you know making the playoffs and every year you think maybe
and then this and last off season are real years we're like no they're not going to like there's
very little hope so you think with all these draft picks with mojee now saying hey i can make
some savvy moves here maybe this is a glimmer it's a glimmer at least there's a there's a
glimmer. There is a window for that
to actually happen. Five
first round picks the next two years.
There is a hope that at least
we could pin ourselves on the
future if you are a jet fan.
But make no mistake, that is as loyal
a fan base and who has been through the
crap of the crap the last decade and a half
and they deserve this. They have a full line change
of first round picks coming up. I mean, that's an
insane thought. And I think they did that before
and they got Sauce and they got
Jermaine Johnson.
And they got Quinn Williams. And Breeze Hall.
and Brees Hall and Garrett Wilson.
They've done that before, and they hit on every single pick,
and they were still the Jets,
and that's probably why Jets fans would probably feel the way.
How many interceptions they have this year on defense?
Yeah.
Zero.
Trading for Minka, though.
Tone, they didn't get the quarterback.
You need a quarterback.
True.
They hit on all those picks, but Zach Wilson.
Jack Wilson wasn't the guy, and nor is Christian Hakenberg,
and nor is Brady Cook.
You're right.
Hakenberg.
Hakenberg had a shot, though.
He was good.
I want to let you know.
I lived the Jets life there for a while with Aaron.
I was so excited.
I remember September 11th with that flag.
Monday night football.
Cursed.
Got a handheld gym under.
Probably Spanx.
That awesome.
I think Gary, Gary V said that was a top five sports moment of his life.
Just a man running out with an American flag.
It was all there.
The hype, the hard knocks, the entire off season.
It was like, hey, we're doing it.
Mike Greenberg, one of the most notable Jets fans on Earth,
said he would cut.
He would do it.
I'll cut it off.
He said he was going to say fuck on air, too, if they...
Yeah, if they were just to make a playoff game, I think is what he said for the
era and era.
We were all bought in.
I was bought in Harpsons.
I was bought in.
I thought they were going to go to the Super Bowl.
That's how good they were.
And keep in mind, they won that game.
They won that game.
Xavier Gibson.
It went many after that.
It went real bad.
And for Jets fans, they said this one exactly how it was put four offensive plays is what
we got with that entire hype machine.
And then the next year was just,
an inevitable turnover from the Sala era
and then now Aaron Rogers
is going to be a Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback again?
Not going to be a Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback.
We shall see Gino Smith to the Jets,
Tua to the Falcons.
Where is Kyler going to go to?
Is he going to get traded?
Let's head inside the Schefterer Free Agency Frenzy zone.
Shefti, trade for Gino.
Is that a Kyler trade coming as well now?
I don't know that a Kyler trade is coming.
The contract is too prohibitive.
In this particular case,
That's restructured that.
That deal gets done.
The Raiders will pay the bulk of the contract.
The jets will carry just over a veteran minimum.
And it felt like Gino was just destined to wind up in New York.
So you're starting to see the quarterback Domino's fit together now, right?
How many chairs are there left logically for Kyle Murray?
A lot of teams would have interest.
But what would be an interesting compelling chair?
Minnesota.
So it's just the logical fit that's out there for when the Arizona Cardinals,
ultimately release Kyler Murray,
which is expect that been as early as tomorrow 4 p.m. Eastern.
But again, you see Tua go to Atlanta.
You see Gino go to New York.
The teams are filling in their quarterback blanks right now.
Daniel Jones is going to be staying in Indianapolis on the transition tag.
We'll see if they get the tag and the deal worked out.
He's not going anywhere, Pat.
Where do you think he's going right now?
I don't know.
Well, definitely for the Achilles and a broken leg,
but if we know anything about Dan Jones, he's dog, he'll,
he said he'll get through a faster anybody in history.
When's he expected to be back playing?
Well, and you're saying he's going to be a Colt.
He's not going anywhere.
We're in a good spot.
That's correct.
And I believe he'll be ready for opening day.
That's what their hope and expectation is.
We're back, baby!
Wow.
Oh! Holy hell!
Optimism levels high for the Indianapolis Colts all of a sudden.
Now, we're going to have to make some hits on some other stuff.
I appreciate the fact that the Colts and Alec Pierce wanted us to announce the deal.
Very kind to them.
Some trades took place as well.
maybe some on the horizon.
So Daniel Jones will be our quarterback.
Two is down there.
Gina is in New York.
Whether spots are available,
what's everybody looking for other than the Vikings?
Anywhere else?
Raiders are Fernando?
The Raiders will be Fernando.
Again, you can go through,
and there are still a lot of strong quarterbacks out there.
Russell Wilson, Joe Flacco, Aaron Rogers,
Kirk Cousins, who will be released tomorrow.
There's a lot of options out there.
And so it's just a question of where these guys.
Carson Wentz is still out there.
as well. So these guys now are looking for essentially backup jobs. There aren't many
start. Can you think of a starting job that's available right now? I can't.
Arizona? Arizona? Yeah, but they brought in Gardner. They brought in Gardner and they have
Jacoby Burset. Those are their two guys that they're going to ride with right now. What's Cleveland doing?
Cleveland. That's it. Cleveland. Okay. Shador Sanders. They have Deshawn Watson. And by the way,
let me say this. There are people out there, and we'll see how it unfolds, but there are people out there
who believe that Deshawn Watson
could very well be the starting quarterback
for the Cleveland Browns.
I saw him doing running back drills.
He's getting paid.
He's definitely getting paid, and I do appreciate the fact that he's like,
you know what, I will give this thing a go again
that's paying me $230 million guaranteed.
Let's go and try this out.
Because at one point when Deshawn Watson was playing good football,
bull, it was awesome football to watch.
We were down there in the AFC South watching
when he was with Detections.
There was a time where J.J. Watt was walking off
the field after the last game of the season.
And he looks at, he looks at Deshaun Watson.
He goes, so sorry we wasted one of your years, man.
There was a time where this guy was being described as the Michael Jordan of football.
Yeah.
Now, obviously, a lot happened.
A lot, a lot happened.
Off the field.
A lot happened.
On the field.
It was a very long, dramatic, very serious and intense stuff that took place.
So mentally, was he ever going to be able to get back to being a quarterback,
especially whenever you're sitting on super satin sheets, the most satin,
sat in sheets in the history of NFL
with your fully $230 million guarantee.
Will you ever be able to get back to that?
We hadn't seen it. I mean, we hadn't seen it.
We didn't expect it. That would have been
the mental toughness level to be able to get back
to being elite QB
while getting paid as much as you have without playing
for as long as you had and with all the work
that it takes, especially going to a different
it's like, I thought that was going to be tough
to see him play football after he took that
long off. But maybe
he's hit a point in life.
One line.
go here.
One last time to lead a team.
And Cleveland Browns are a place that do not have a set-up quarterback.
So maybe he is able to rewrite the end of his football story, his football life.
And maybe that happens with Cleveland Broad.
Maybe.
I don't see it.
I don't see it happen.
I, you know, wish from the best, but it's your door time in there.
You've seen him with time mocking a couple times already.
We'll see where they go.
But, you know, why I'm mad.
Yeah.
You know what time?
You know what about the Ouse?
man.
Telling Gabriel,
not even in the conversation.
No.
I haven't seen a photo of him
on the internet either.
Todd Munkin actually said to Shador,
we saw it on one of the vlogs,
whether it was Cleveland Browns
or Shador's vlog,
where he said,
hey, I was trying to draft you.
Hey.
What happened there?
I was the one that wanted you
in Baltimore.
We'll have to talk about that someday.
Shadr was, yeah, yeah, yeah,
absolutely, man.
Appreciate you, I appreciate you,
appreciate you do.
But I think in that brief interaction,
I think we saw that Todd was
interested in Shador.
Shador has this aura about him to be leading guy.
Shador's teams did have success.
Now, a lot of people point out of his numbers and say, hey, okay, let's not do it.
He's a lead guy.
And maybe if he gets an offense, he has the chance to do it.
But if Deshawn Watson's the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, that would be a storyline.
If Dylan Gabriel was the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, that would be a storyline.
If Shadour Sanders was the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, that would be the leading storyline for everybody as we see how it goes.
and Cleveland Brown's having won in forever.
Forever.
And then when they did win, they kicked the quarterback out of town.
Yeah.
So it's like, I don't know with Cleveland.
It's just like New York, the longer we do this job,
and we watch things just continue to happen and unfold,
you do kind of lose a little hope for some places.
Who turns it around first, New York or Cleveland?
Cleveland.
New York.
If Todd Monkin is wearing the jacket and jeans on the sidelines
when he's coaching, they'll win 12 games this year.
I agree.
I don't know if that, if you're,
walked in the building.
There was people getting coffee in the back.
We see head coaches walk in the buildings,
and they shut it all down.
They're clapping for them.
They're doing the whole thing.
Todd Munkin walked in,
baggy jeans,
overcoat,
buttoned down brown shirt,
his own coffee with a briefcase,
just walked in,
hey,
how's this guy?
Hey,
sorry,
we didn't get everybody out here for you.
He actually said that,
yeah,
sorry we didn't do the whole thing.
It walks in as it walks around.
It's like, yes,
we love this guy.
And he looked out at the practice
They pan the camera.
It's like gray shit.
You know, just absolute shit.
Guys crying on the field.
Certainly football fields out there, but just not a good view.
It's the weather.
It's a weather where it's at.
It's like, yeah, he's like, yeah, this is where it won't be.
I'm like, I love this guy.
I think I like Top Monk in a lot.
Yeah.
Okay, so I believe in the Browns more than I believe in the tickets.
That's what I'm going to say.
Okay.
How about you?
Oh, shit.
Let's go to the Free Agency Fund Zone before you give your answer.
Shrigz.
Jets or Browns?
Orlovsky.
Jets or Browns.
wins, two playoff games, first.
Two.
Two is asking a lot.
I was going to say, who can get back to the playoffs first?
I would think Cleveland's in a lot better position based on the talent in their roster
and their draft class last year.
You look at Schwessinger and what he did, and obviously the running backs that they got in
that draft and then Harold Fanon.
I am a Shador believer in that he could compete for this job at the very least.
And you look at the team and then, of course, Miles Garrett's like, it's a better roster
right now.
Cleveland is by far a better roster.
than the Jets.
Question is, is there an upside?
And do the Jets now have this complete blank canvas
that if they can draft the right players,
they could have an even better draft class
than what the Browns did last year and really sore?
I'll go with the Jets by far better roster?
I would think I would take Cleveland's roster over the Jets.
I mean, basically five new starting offensive linemen.
That's the letters N-Dash-A, not applicable right now.
But still a three new five offensive linemen.
The perimeter weapons are not a probably the worst skill group in the NFL.
And Joku's not standing here.
He's a free agent.
Judy's a good player, but that's really all that we have.
Fanon was great last year.
It's young and promising.
Broke to record.
Judkins.
The Jets, I agree.
That's a good point.
The Jets with their offensive line,
Greece Hall, Garrett Wilson, Mason Taylor, all those picks in the future.
I think there's a lot of ammunition for the Jets to get right.
They got to hit quarterback next year.
We're arguing about what could be the 31st and 32nd roster in the NFL.
That's a good point.
Every year it seems like it's that way, which is why we feel bad for their fans,
but we respect their fans.
Their fans are who we would send out in a representation of loyalty to program,
especially those Jets ones.
I lived that for two years?
Yeah, right.
The Browns fans just feel like they're up for it.
Now they've got a new stadium.
It's going to be inside.
Yeah, and they have a sweet dog pound.
The dog stand up.
Yeah.
Yeah, that should be pretty nasty.
Just so everyone knows, historically, the Jets have not made the playoffs since 2010.
And the Browns have one playoff win, always against the Steelers, since 1994.
So either of them getting to two is probably not happening.
Cream of the poop.
But that, what I just, the situation I laid out that I was trying to get people to pick, they are the cream of the poop.
They are seemingly the cream of the poop right there on the top.
You're saying, what if they never win two playoffs?
That, we can't live in that world where they're never going to win.
win two playoffs. Look at the lions. Look what the lions did.
Hell yeah. And they've only won two.
Well, we were the one seed one year, so we had a buy week, so that counts as another
playoff wins. No. Get on Foxy.
Go Foxy. That's a loser mentality. They might never go back. Yeah, and then Schrager
called it out, say, hey, hope you enjoyed that. This shit's over. And then it was. It was. It was.
Pacheco maybe and Gibbs getting back together today could certainly be something, but you're
saying. Petsing! What's that, pal?
Oh, yeah, the guy.
He needs to not stand next to MCDC the first time I see him together.
I agree.
They need to be separated.
Just strictly because what my brain does when I'm speaking in this mic, whenever I think of people,
I need those photos up with him.
Yeah.
I need to see more of those.
That's what I need for my brain.
And I have faith in him.
I think he's going to do well strictly because I believe in MCDC.
Yes.
Let's talk about some other sports that are happening before we wrap up here on this day two of the free agency frenzy,
which hasn't really been that frantic.
No, it really hasn't.
Day two, not really frantic.
Kind of boring.
Day one was too frantic.
Yeah, a lot of franticness, a lot of chaos in day one.
Maybe something will end here, and if it does, we'll obviously get to a chefty tweet.
But there's other sports that are happening that we certainly need to talk about.
Let's talk about a marathon.
I don't know if you guys saw this.
An American stole a marathon at the end because of grit, passion, and conditioning.
My man.
I mean, I thought we had to tweet.
My man.
Math teacher.
He's a math teacher, a coach at the very end, steals this thing for the United States of America.
This absolute stallion, this absolute legend, Nathan Martin comes through in a huge way to win for the United States of America for himself.
And in doing so, showcases a grit and a resolve that we can all be inspired by.
That's 26 miles in.
Sprint.
That's 26 miles in.
Legend.
Usually people hit that thing and darn.
That guy said, I'm going to hit that at a different time.
Let's go get this thing.
Walks him.
I love everything about that.
Yeah, I mean, that's tough.
One of the other dude, especially face-planting to it in there.
But, hey, grit and jam.
We talk about finishing, defending every play the blade of grass when you're in the NFL.
And this is, I mean, this is an unbelievable finish.
See you.
The NBA has canceled Magic City Night down.
What the hell?
That happened.
The NBA canceled it.
That's just something that is existing in the NBA.
World. And then World Baseball Classic, the United States of America have another huge game
tonight against the Paizons as we look to go undefeated in pool play. What should we keep an eye on
tonight, Ty, as there is massive news brewing right now. Yeah, the big thing will be Nolan McLean
here, who is last year was his first year in the Bigs with the Mets. So he's young, but he's got
electric stuff. And then I'm very interested to see what the lineup will be like, because I think
once we get through pool play and then we get into the knockout rounds,
you're going to have to kind of mix and match,
and certain guys aren't going to be getting in bats anymore.
Tony, what are some bets that we need to look at here for these?
The home run ones have been doing pretty well for us out here on draft Kings.
They have.
You've got to find out who is going to be that home run of the night.
Obviously, last night, it was Tony Tony's boy, Roman Anthony,
and then Aaron Judge.
And as far as tonight goes, you know, the Italians are a good squad.
They've been playing good ball.
USA has not covered the last two games.
and that was minus nine and a half and minus three and a half in that situation,
so we will see minus five and a half tonight.
But whoever you think is going to be the hot bat tonight, you can lay it on there.
Okay, let's definitely do that.
I can't wait to watch United States of America continue to win.
We appreciate you, boys.
Shout out to Nathan Martin, that marathon winner for America doing that.
We appreciate that.
Yeah, yeah.
There was some early surfacing of reporting about Daniel Jones,
maybe having a deal done.
Let's go to Adam Schaefter, a quick wrap-up on the day,
and is Daniel Jones locked in?
What's going on here?
We're waiting to see, again, there have been talks going on with the cults,
but there was a report that he has a deal done.
I was told in no uncertain terms.
The quote that I got back was completely wrong.
Again, we'll see how it all shakes out.
Who has the report?
What a who that was from?
The report's been deleted.
We have been, the internet has been corrected,
but I certainly got excited for that.
Okay, so we have nothing on that.
Anything on any other deals that we might want to keep an eye out for the next
couple hours on this day two of free agency frenzy.
that you've been working on.
Well, we're still waiting on Trey Hendrickson.
He's the biggest free agent name out there,
the best player available,
a pass rusher in this market
that obviously people are interested in at this point in time.
We'll see if he can get a deal done somewhere.
Obviously, you want to have a deal done in free agency
the first day.
That seems to be where the most dollars are.
When you get into the second day, not as ideal.
And the longer you wait, the less ideal it is.
Hopefully, for everybody's sake,
Trey Hendricksson gets the deal done soon.
We'll see if he is.
He's been talking to a bunch of teams.
That's out there.
But again, the big headlines while we've been on the show,
Romeo Dobbs winds up in New England with the Patriots on a four-year deal worth over $70 million.
There are incentives in there that could get it up to maybe $80 worth up to $80.
We'll see.
But the Patriots land, a big-time wide receiver.
That's good for them.
And of course, the trade.
Gino Smith, remember he played his first four years of his career in New York.
with the Jets. He said, you know, famously, I wrote them, they didn't write back. Well, the Jets have now
written back. Letter got lost in the mail, but is finally recirculated and Gino Smith has resurfaced.
He's going to return to the Jets. And the Jets will obviously have Gino Smith this year.
He's agreed to a restructured contract. It's just a pick flop. So essentially the Jets get him for
next to nothing. Gino Smith comes back to New York. It's a full circle moment in his NFL career.
And the Jets still are loaded with all these other draft picks in the upcoming.
two drafts. So good for them.
Another big trade. And they've been wheeling and dealing with a lot of these players.
Mika Fitzpatrick yesterday and today, Gino Smith.
Raiders move up 11 spots in that pick swap.
Gino Smith restructures and the Jets don't have to pick up much of the contract other than
Vetman.
Shephti, we appreciate the hell out of you, man.
Thank you for doing this.
Thank you for doing this.
Let's go over to the free agency fund zone.
Shregs Orlovsky, big takeaways of day one, day two of free agency.
Frenzy.
We'll start with you, Shregs.
32 teams and their fans believe there's a chance right now.
And I look at the teams in Tennessee, and I look at the teams in Las Vegas,
and I look at these newborn New York Giants franchise in those fan bases.
And I think, okay, it's just the first two days of free agency.
Nothing is won there.
But I look back to last year, and I think Boston Connor started off the show saying this,
Patriots and Seahawks were two of the biggest spenders in the first two days of free agency last year,
and we saw them playing for a Super Bowl.
If you're a fan of the Raiders, if you're a fan of the Titans,
if you're a fan of the Bengals who spent on defense,
for you're a fan of a team like the Carolina Panthers or the New York Giants,
it's all right to enjoy this.
It's all right to cherish the moment when your team is in the headlines
and you're actually spending the money you have to spend.
All those teams got better over the last two days,
and I'm fired up to see what we could do.
We actually talk about the NFL draft, OTAs, training camp,
and then you know my favorite time of the season.
The NFL kickoff in September.
Let's go.
Let's go.
We're already in it.
How about you, Dano?
Yeah, I look at the top of the food chain and the bottom of the food chain.
I think the bottom of the food chain with some of the teams that with second year quarterbacks
and trying to set them up for that huge jump.
Tennessee, I love what they did over the past two days.
It was complete built a defense and the offensive pieces.
Daniel Bellinger, Wondale Robinson.
So that, what New York did for Jackson Dart, again, some defensive pieces, but also some of the additions on the offensive side of the football.
Isaiah likely Theo Johnson together at the tight end group.
Tyler Shuck in New Orleans, getting David Edwards at the guard and then Travis E.T.N.
That's the bottom of the food chain and then flip it to the top of the food chain.
I love what Baltimore did with Max Crosby.
I can't overstated enough.
He's an absolute destructive force.
The Buffalo Bills, trading for DJ Moore.
Let's continue to try and trace or chase down this trophy.
The San Francisco 49ers, Mike Evans, we're close.
Let's go get a difference maker in the Rams.
The Rams were arguably the second best team in football.
last year and they made some massive moves. So I look at the teams realizing how close they are,
go, jump, be aggressive. And the teams with these younger quarterbacks that have struggled
recently, like, let's try to put together a good football team around a young quarterback and see
how good that young guy really is. Great work in there, you two. We're going to go, boys.
I would just say this. It's been a real pleasure for us. We're not going to do a whole monologue or soliloquy,
but Dan and I were talking, we've, and Adams included in this as he's on the phone walking around
like a madman in his little box.
It means a lot.
You invited us out here, guys, and we had such a blast.
And being in this little world of yours, it is truly, truly an honor.
And we had such a pleasure.
And thank you for inviting us.
No, thank you guys for coming.
We love you guys.
Obviously, you've contributed to our show in so many different ways.
Having a chance you'd be out here and legitimize us on this glorious free agency frenzy time.
We are incredibly thankful.
How don't you come out here?
Why don't you guys come out here and join us, actually.
Boys, I thought you did a great work.
Scott on the jib.
Way to go, brother.
Scott.
We appreciate that.
If you want to knock on the door for Schefter
to come join us too, that'd be okay.
I don't know if he'll be able to.
Boys in the back behind the glass,
we don't have a camera on you, but good work, boys.
Dang it work, boys.
Graphic Design, boys, good work out there.
Good work, good, Zeno production.
Good work out there.
Bill, good work, sniping these photos.
Chefty's on the phone.
Before we get out of here, D-Buck, great work.
Before we get out of here, we usually like to say
a little words of encouragement, you know.
And I think the right thing to say is we can't thank you all enough for allowing us to do this for a living,
but also allowing us to do this on such a magnificent scale.
The fact that you guys traveled out here to help us out and to help this league announce big deals and dreams coming true,
we are so eternally grateful for that.
So thank you for giving us a chance and not mocking us.
To ESPN, thank you for not counter-programming us this year.
We appreciate the opportunity to be able to do this.
To the NFL, thank you for being awesome.
To the players, congratulations on the deals.
Into the boys. Hell yeah, bro.
Hell yeah, you. We're back tomorrow.
Let's enjoy the hell out of this life.
Hey, be a friend, tell a friend something nice. It might change your life.
We're listening to get a team on me as Dan O'Lean.
Oh, Dan.
Team on me.
Not a team guy.
No, he's not.
Okay.
Dan, do anything you say to the team?
Team on three. One, two, three.
Team. Not yet, though. We still got 20 seconds.
Two seconds.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Team on me.
Hey, boys, we over me.
Oh, yeah.
When we're together, we're great.
When we're alone, we need each other.
Team on three. You got it.
One, two, three.
Goodbye. Laura Rutledge in the team.
Continue this lovely free agency frenzy.
We'll see you tomorrow. Goodbye.
