Hello, beautiful people. And welcome to our Humble the Boat, the Draft King's Thunderdome. On the let's go camping Tuesday, July 20th, 20th, 2006, this program begins down. Football! It's happening in front of our faces, and the boys weren't certainly all on the same beat, but what we will say is we are going to feel the beat today as we're going to go camping. We're going to stop by training camps from one side of this country to the other, as all 32 teams have reported to their respective training camps.

All 32 teams now are on the road to the Lombardi in Los Angeles, California, on ESPN, February 14th. Who is going to get to the Super Bowl? Who is going to walk away from this particular season happy as the other 31 teams are going to be bummed out? Now there's going to be a lot of grit, there's going to be a lot of grind, there's going to be a lot of sandpaper in these training camps. There's going to be a lot of stories that aren't really stories, but we're going to make stories. because there are no other stories. There's going to be a lot of injuries popping up.

There's going to be a lot of holdouts taking place. There's going to be contract disputes, and there's going to be people requesting trades. Yes, there is. What? Big hands of moose. Why? Big legend, big stud, big Super Bowl champion

for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Vita Vea has requested a trade away from the bucks. He and Baker Mayfield obviously had contract conversations going into training camp. Who was going to get paid? How are they going to be able to handle it all? Who is going to get the money? And Vita Vasa.

I'm done with it. Biavaca, say, give me out of here. Crazy. Los Angeles Rams going to make a play for Vita Vaya to add to that defensive lineman filled with Avengers and Marvel characters. Vita Vaya would certainly be another one. This dude was a kick returner in high school. Yeah.

This dude was a kick returner and a running back in high school. Obviously, he played defense as well. Go ahead and give it to Vita Vaya. He is 6 foot 1, 345 pounds, and runs a 4-5-40. In high school, we like to call that unstop. unstoppable. Vita Veyte Vey is an absolute monster, a beast. A person is beloved, but obviously we believe he's somebody that could come to our team and make our team better. Watch coming to the Colts. DeForest Buckner's cleared. Yeah. He's been out anytime. He doesn't play for the

Indianapolis Colts. We lose. DeFerzis Bukner back. Le'Atu Latu is obviously back. We bring in Vita Vaya. All of a sudden, we're starting to sing in championship dances and jingles. Every team's thinking that. What would the trade actually be for? He's 31 years old. A lot of people We're going to hold that over his head. Obviously, a contract has to take place. So who will be able to match whatever Tampa Bay is looking for? We'll visit with Rick Stroud in about five minutes or so, as we're going to go camping around the NFL to get a little closer to the action.

I sat down, I felt like Samuel Jackson when he sat down at Dennis Nedri's desk in Jurassic Park. But other than that, it's been pretty good. I'm pretty pumped for you to be able to pull that out, whip that out. We do know you're a big Jurassic Park fan.

Obviously, we'll be visiting with the Packer Schneidman as well as we go camping. But Vita Vaya on the move. Obviously, Pooka Nakua is showing up. Contract dispute still taking place.

Some injuries are going to have to pop up here because there's physicals taking place. It's a great time for an NFL fan right now is everybody's zero and zero. Everybody's undefeated. Everybody's team potentially going to go on a run. But all eyes are on the Los Angeles Rams throughout the entirety of it. Yeah, but like you mentioned, you know, you're saying, hey, Vita Vaya, he'd look great in an Indianapolis Colts uniform.

I mean, it was almost exactly a year ago today that the Packers traded for Michael Parsons. And they don't do that kind of stuff ever. So if you're one of these other teams that's sitting out there and you hear that Vita Vaya is available, don't lose faith. There's a chance. There is a chance. there's a prayer, there's a hope, he could get traded to your favorite team.

It happened to me last year, and boy, what a year it was. Michael Parsons coming to the Green Bay Packers changes everything for the Green Bay Packers. It becomes potential defensive MVP, gets hurt, then he guys going to shitter. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, that's kind of the story of the game. And that's why whenever these early training camp injuries come around, you can't help but go, damn. It's hard to hear that.

You kind of get off track before you even get started on this road to Los Angeles. Nine-year NFL vet, Derrish Jay Butler. Yes, sir. I see you take the Pittsburgh Steeler. helmet off the table there and move a Yukon Husky one on there. We obviously appreciate the state of Connecticut a lot. Might be visiting there very, very soon, of course. Yeah, to get back up in there.

I heard it's good whenever the weather is not negative 20, you know? Every time we've been there over the last couple months. It's been fantastic. Trying to find people a little ball up here. You know, it's an incredible thing. New England summers, baby. They're all over. Football, basketball, cross.

Wide. Any type of ball. Rowing. Yeah, no ball there, but they're certainly hard. You're getting into a training camp, though. So whenever you hear about all 32 teams being in camp, what is your mind immediately go to? Can I tell you what I do every single year? I found myself getting more active here. You know, wake up in a morning. Yep.

Oh, yeah, definitely. I'm more committed to the workout. I think our bodies are just kind of like trained. Like, hey, it's about time to not be a fat ass anymore. It's about time to start getting active. For you, D, but what are your thoughts as we launch NFL training camps into the Sunday? I mean, you talked about it earlier when we came in with our football. You know, we've been saying sports for a long time covering other sports, talking other sports, which are important, which we love, but football is our bread and butter. This is what we look to year.

We can't wait for this time of year. Now all 32 teams are back. And just like us, being offbeat, a lot of these teams will be offbeat. When you build that foundation of a team, regardless of how many, you know, starters or coaches or people you have coming back, it's a brand new team every time you show up to training camp every year. So I'm excited for what's to come. It's a lot of surprises every year, year and out, not only in training camp, but as the season

plays out. but I can't wait to see how things get sorted out. We got Vita Vail. You mentioned it. That's the biggest name right now who asks for a trade. Honestly, I hope everything gets worked out at Tampa. We'll find out more from Rick, but I feel like he should be a one helmet guy. He's been a legend. I'm excited to see how that works out.

And the rest of these contract disputes around the league. Anytime you request to trade publicly, you could be potentially utilizing a little bit of leverage, because all of a sudden Tampa Bay finds out how many people are interested. You can kind of also get a sense of what the market is on what he should be paid, who's willing to pay, how many people are potentially going to. going to step up and do that for 31-year-old Vita Vaya. Tampa Bay can learn that as well. You know, so this is a public leverage position by Vita Vaya, which we respect.

We got a lot of teams fan base is excited. I think everybody also understands this isn't a first or second rounder. You know, I think a lot of teams think like, hey, it feels like we could get Vita Vaya. Now the deal that you're going to have to negotiate with Vita Vaya is certainly the big conversation piece that's looming, which is why this is taking place. But if Vita Vaya ends up on one of these teams, we're immediately going to think, oh, they've done it. They won the Super Bowl. If he goes to Los Angeles Rams,

and we got Aaron Donald and Vita Veya in the middle of that D-line. Commissioner should veto that if that were somehow to happen. I'm talking Chris Paul to the Lakers. Not doing it. Just think about Matthew Stafford, current reigning MVP, is under center. And then in the backfield, do you have Aaron Donald leading for Vita Vaya?

That'd be cool. And then Miles Garrett, like, what do you have them back and just have the full... Sorry. First Sergeant. Urah. Sorry about that. Okay, sorry about that.

Break some change there. But if you have Miles Garrett, Aaron Donald, Vita V. We're on the Wishbone. Matthew Stafford right here. The husband package, basically. You know, the, the, what was it called? The Tush Push. Yeah.

Are we still calling it that? Is that being? It's still around. It is still around. He was the one guy that can stop it. Wasn't as successful. Without chasing Kelsey. But Josh Allen figured out of way because they're doing the lead.

I mean, you get all these massive behemoths in one place. You assume they're going to be able to pick up a yard. You would think. So. Anywhere but the Rams, I think of Vita Vaya. I agree. Now, granted, the expectation on the Rams, pre-Vita-Veya or potential with Vita Vaya is that they got to win the Super. But listen to how we're speaking around.

We're talking like they aren't humans. We're talking like they're an actual video game where they're going to show up and they might because they got that trailer, that A. Moral thing that they plug into. Like Jacob Soli getting into Avatar. They hop in and Matthew Staver comes back with the perfect back wins an MVP for the first time ever. So they're all going to be plugged in, obviously. so we assume they're going to be healthy. But here's what Sean McVeigh thinks about everybody's outside expectations on the team that he and less need to put together thus far.

I think you acknowledge it, but you also talk about that. That doesn't do anything. Let's be inside out. I think what's great is that people care about this game. You guys have jobs to do, and we respect that. But I respectfully say that your guy's opinions doesn't mean shit to us. I respectfully say this. Okay, he's at a community America.

I respectfully say this. Like, you guys are paid to have opinions, and we like how much you. guys give opinions and how much people like your opinions. For us, we, no offense. I just want to let you know this is no offense. No offense is allowed to be taken here when I say this. None of you matter at all. Okay, nothing you have ever said matters. That's the right. Messaging from McVeigh, but once again, such a young head coach. Yep. Has such a great leadership style. Like him talking about Puka Nakua this entire offseason. And obviously, Miles Garrett and then his relationship with Aaron Donald, where he's like,

first, Aaron Donald is an incredible son. He's an incredible this. it's like he has it all. When everybody was trying to find the next McVeigh, I think they were trying to kind of dismiss everything that McVeigh is as a leader, as a, I think he's a vibes guy. I think every day he's the same. And obviously he's an absolute wizard whenever it comes to offensive play calling. So I think he's a special talent.

We're lucky to have him as a head coach, even if he is 27 years old still. Yeah, and the expectations obviously are sky high as they should be. And a lot of people are comparing or talking about the times, you know, with that Eagles, when they kind of put together that quote-unquote dream team. But this is different. You got a running in MVP. You got Stafford, who's been one of the best throws of the ball since he stepped foot in the national football league.

And the same with Miles Garrett. He's a generational pass rusher. So those are the kind of foundational pieces of this team. So, yeah, I see the expectations they are what they are and they should be. And I like how Sean McVeigh is speaking, because you know how the head coach has always got to knock you down a little bit, especially heading the training camp. And remember, anytime the coach is speaking publicly, he's also talking to the locker room. That is a conversation to the locker room.

Hey, we do not care what these people say. And then the players go, okay, and we're allowed to say that we don't give a shit about your opinions. And also, this is a message that he is sending to all of us as we go in here. We got to earn it. They know they got to earn it. But anytime you're going all in, which they've done before, the expectations are to win, especially in Los Angeles, especially in their own stadium. I mean, so they understand it. And they got guys that have done it.

Now, Vita Vaya heading to the Rams would be absurd. But this is kind of what happens. Remember, Patriots will always get somebody. Chiefs started getting somebody. You know, now are the Rams going to become that. ring chasing big go all in team forever potentially, especially if they got something to sell. What is Draft Kings and the odds saying about where he's potentially headed? So they haven't put out odds yet, but we were talking about it this morning.

Like if you're, let's say if you're the Cardinals, the Jets, the Raiders, like teams that are currently like in a rebuild, I don't expect to get Vita Vette. You and I are talking about it. Like him being 31 years old, him looking for a new contract. These are teams like that are ready right now to win the Super Bowl. So like we talked about the Rams. Yes. Seahawks, Niners like that whole division I could see. Patriots, I could definitely.

see do it. And like the Bengals before they got sexy Dexie, that would be a team like that would fit this. Ravens even like teams that are ready to win right now is who you would expect to go out and try to get Vita Vey. Ted Wendt reports that from a source, he wants to go to California thing. Chargers would make sense too. He wants to go to California thing. Now I think Jim

Harbaugh would love Vita Vos. I mean, Jim Harbaugh talking about Vita Veya would be sweet. McDaniels on the offensive side using Vita Vita Vail would also be sweet. So maybe it's the Chargers. Maybe it's the Rams. Maybe it's the Niners? Maybe it's their Niners. Maybe it's the 9ers.

Maybe it's the Niners, right? Anytime they have injury across the D-line, the whole team looks different. Yep. You know, it's like that is kind of how they've been knocked down injuries in abundance, which is why they're looking into that electro super duper. Yeah, the substation. They're saying it already started again. A couple of other guys are already out.

Yeah, it looked like there was a long list of people already. But hey, remember, G days are happening here in training camp. They got a veteran team and everything, so you never know who's just getting rest, who needs it, who doesn't need it, who needs a ramp up, who's actually injured. There's a lot of gamesmanship taking place. You know, we don't know enough, though, do we? No. I've been reading that all over the internet.

Not boots on the ground. Well, that's kind of the problem, right? It's hard because we're in Indianapolis, Indiana. Lucky to be here. Thankful to be here. But we can't know everything happening everywhere. So that's why every once in a while, we like to feel the beat. But in this particular case, let's go camping, shall we?

Let's go camping. Camp on Oana, we hold you in our hearts. And when we think about you, It makes me want to fart. No, it's this thing came apart. That's exactly what I was going to say. You know it? No.

It was a good show. You'd like Bobby Budnick. Oh, no. We're already wasted. We don't have enough cut. Ladies and gentlemen, Bucks beat reporter for the Tampa Bay Times, host of the Sports Day Tampa Bay podcast. Players coach, co-wrote players coach with Tom Moore,

obviously living legend, and a guy who's been covering in Tampa Bay Buccaneers for 100 years. Ladies of the gentleman, Rick Stroud. Hey, Mr. Stroud, good jawline. You look incredible heading into training camp. Feels like Vita Veyer requesting a trade is huge news around the rest of the NFL. For you guys down boots on the ground or with the team, did this come out of nowhere?

likely was this to take place and what inevitably happens, you think, Rick? Yeah, no, I think it was a surprise. I mean, he was going to be a deal that might be a little harder to do just because he's 31 years old. He still has a year left on his contract, but he's underpaid, Pat, you know, based on his production in the league. You know, he's probably about 17th. And to get him in the top 10, you probably got to average about $25 million a year. But they didn't get close. And I got to be honest with you, man, It's one thing to say, you know, I'm unhappy with my contract, maybe I'm going to hold out or hold in. But this guy went straight to who I want to be traded. And that's a different situation, I think, and it's going to resonate inside that locker room, not in a positive way.

Obviously, his teammates are going to be disappointed. This is a fundamental piece of this defense of this franchise. He's done a lot of great things without much help at times. And for him to say he wants out, that's a big step. I don't know how it ends. you know, we're still a ways to go. He's going to report the training camp or has reported from what I understand. So he won't be fined $50,000 a day.

But I don't know if there's really any other talk scheduled. Don't know how far apart they were. But this is one that would impact the buck's defense as much as any player right now that they could take off of it. Okay, obviously huge name, huge story in Tampa Bay across the rest of the league as well. Vita Vaya, beloved, I believe, in the locker room as well, right? is everybody that's come on that we've asked about Vita Vaya, they love him. I think he shit talks everybody. I think everybody respects and appreciates him as well.

Is this a new era? Because we just saw that you reported that Baker Mayfield was not able to get a deal done with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So they will halt negotiation in contract negotiations for the rest of the season. There was a timeline that Baker Mayfield's people put on. Don't want to go into camp worrying about this. So Vita Vaya wants a trade. Baker's not able to get a deal done.

Mike Evans is gone. Levanté David is gone. head, Tom. Yeah, you just talked about all four of those guys. All four of those guys are captains. Like Levanti was a captain for 10 plus years. Mike Evans, another 10 plus year guy. And then Baker, you assume he will be there, but a captain. And then Vita, captain, like, what are the vibes going into camp this year? Are they down in the building or is this just like a fan-based internet thing where it seems like the vibes might be down a bit in Tampa? Well, I think any time this happens, it's going to affect the culture of your locker room,

right? Because you want to see players that produce get rewarded. Again, we don't have both sides of the story. We don't know what kind of money either of these players were seeking. In the case of Baker Mayfield, I would never bet against the guy that walked on at Texas Tech, walked on at Oklahoma, won the Heisman Trophy, was the first overall pick, took a $4 million, make it deal, and did what he's done here in Tampa Bay. I mean, he wants this to be his forever home, whether he stays here as a player or not. This community loves him.

I think the team loves him, but is it unlikely that Baker would bet on? himself? No, that's who this dude is, man. You back him in a corner, and I think the danger would be, he goes out there, has an unbelievable year. Yeah, you could use a franchise tag with there's all kind of ramifications with debt money with that. But what if he says, you know what, you didn't believe in me before this season, and Matthew Stafford's retired, and I want to go to the L.A. Rams. You know, there's a lot of things that can happen in the next, you know, six to eight months. So we'll see, but he set that deadline, and he's apparently sticking to it. From what I understand, they weren't very close on an agreement.

So Baker will play out his final year in Tampa, and then we'll see what happens. Throwing a lot of touchdowns of Mike Evans in this highlight clip, obviously. You can have to replace that as well. That's a huge story, because maybe they are moving on to what the next iteration of the bucks have to be, or this is all just a part of the business mumbo-jumbo. Now, you talk about business, especially in the NFL. You win a Super Bowl, but how long do you have? Ty is the last question for you here, Stratt.

Yeah, Rick. there were parts of last year where it seemed like Todd Bowles was kind of on the hot seat. We saw one of those press conferences where he was, you know, expletive late and dropped a bunch of F-bombs. He never does that kind of stuff. And then obviously the way the season ended, do you get the sense that he's maybe kind of on the hot seat going into this year? And then also what about Jason Light?

I think every coach is, if you're not named Andy Reed or maybe Kyle Shanahan or Sean McVeigh, they're all on the hot seat, right? And certainly Todd is there too. They want to win Super Bowls here. there's no secret about that, although he's in the first year of what was the three-year contract extension this season, but you have to win, and I think you just look at what he did. You know, defensively, they were really bad last year. They went out and did a lot of things on defense, whether it was in the draft with Ruben Bain,

Josiah Trotter, bringing in guys like A. Sean Robinson. They're trying to fix this defense, and he's in charge of that defense. It was not good last year. And so you can't have five and one, six and two starts and then collapse every season. So absolutely he's on the hot seat. As for Jason, I don't know, there's not many GMs that have his resume right now with the Super Bowl win included. But everybody's evaluated every single year. And so, you know, this is a what have you done for me lately business.

I think all those guys know that they have to win and win right away. And that's why they made so many changes. I mean, they made four coaching changes on defense alone this offseason. So that'll tell you how Todd Bowles feels about his job security. All right. Well, we know your job security is good forever. We appreciate the hell out of you, man. Thank you for joining us. It does hold up. It's unbelievable. It's unbelievable. All right, Nate, let's talk about the Kansas City Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes being back, obviously, a huge story. We see him rolling left into his knee, throwing. He looks good. Dr. David Chow, who runs sports.

Super Medicine on the Internet. Yeah, football. He said, obviously, looks good. He's known as a quick healer, but first week, TBD, we'll see where he's at. What is kind of the messaging around you guys for where Patrick Mahomes is and is health-wise, and what should we expect over the next couple weeks of training camp? Yeah, Patrick Mahomes has looked as well as you could have hoped, if you're the Kansas City Chiefs and their fans,

in these first couple days at training camp. Now, he practiced on Saturday, Sunday, took yesterday off as a veteran rest day, which has normally been the case. And obviously the full team will have its first practice tomorrow up in St. Joe at Missouri Western State University. As you can see here, Patrick Mahomes has done a lot of work in terms of his rehab and his recovery to be able to do a lot of these things

that I think was a question coming into training camp. Can he operate under center? Can he move within the pocket? Was he even going to be clear, Pat, to do 11 on 11 team drills, which was not the case earlier in the offseason. So as much as you can ask for Patrick Mahomes right now without the pads on, let's see how it goes over the course of this upcoming week. But this is a positive sign because this will be the first repetitions

in the entire offseason and now entry training camp where we will have Rishie Rice. He'll have Xavier Worthy, Tyquan Thornton, Obviously, Travis Kelsey and Kenneth Walker, their biggest offseason acquisition. So for everything that we've seen right now, he looks to be good. He looks to be in a good place mentally. I think that's something that people haven't maybe talked about enough is that he's really energized by being back on the practice field, not being in the training room 24-7, 365.

He's now getting to a point where, okay, I'm going to build timing with my receivers. I'm going to build, you know, true bonding and chemistry with my teammates and the coaching staff in terms of How do we get the office to get back on track? And he even said on Friday, he's got to get better at the depot. The only way you do that, Pat, is you have a strong core, and you got your legs under you, and your footwork is proper and sound. So that's what I'll be looking at over the next couple days, as the Chiefs have their real first look at what this office might be like

with Patrick Mahomes trying to come back and get ready for week one on September 14th against the Denver Broncos. Hell yeah, you nailed that. Whenever you talk about getting better at the deep ball, having a dude, too, also helps. You know, that issue. something that helps. But anytime we see Patrick McHombs on a football field,

we're pumped up about it, we're happy about it. I saw him on a dance floor and on a stage. It looked like him in the last year, having a great time. I'm telling you, I think that was one of my biggest takeaways, other than Brad Pitt bringing me a Jack and Diet, which was unbelievable. Yeah, massive takeaway. Yeah, that's a huge takeaway from the entire thing. And shout out, I think anything he does is good.

And Bradley Cooper is so handsome. It is outrageous. But the dance floor, which I did head to, the Chiefs were all, I mean, it was everybody, they were all in there. And then Patrick Mahomes was right in the middle of that thing. I mean, so whenever you talk about Travis and Patrick Mahomes being in the middle of it all, it's like, that's great two guys to be leading this entire thing. And if they got the dogs and the weapons and are overlooked so they got chip on our shoulder,

I love it. You talked about a Super Bowl MVP there, though, that's been hard to find any clips of. Go ahead, Tone. Yeah, Nate, you did. And I was looking for clips of Kenneth Walker from camp so far. And it was hard to find any, but Mahomes already said this year, like he realizes he needs to run less. He ran so much last year. Now with Kenneth Walker, do we think Mahomes,

that'll be less pressure off of him to use his legs? And was it just an offensive line thing with Pacheco in the running game last year? What do we think about the running game coming in this year? Yeah, one of the things that you have to realize about last year is that the offensive line had injuries throughout the course of the season, right? Even Josh Simmons, the dynamic left tackle who was a first round pick. He was absent for the team for about a month. And of course, Pacheco had his own struggles coming back from his own leg injury.

injury in 2024. So there were a number of factors. When it comes to Kenneth Walker, though, at least what we saw in the offseason program, and again, we'll see him for the first time in full tomorrow. He has the explosion. He has the vision. And what the Chiefs like is that he can make people miss in the second level of the

defense, right? The linebackers, the safeties. That was something that the Chiefs missed so much last year was not only just explosive plays, but being able to break tackles or evade defenders who would come at a certain angle where it put more of the pressure on my homes. Now, a lot of teams last year, fellas, played man coverage against the chiefs on critical downs, which meant that Patrick had to go through his own calculation in his mind, realizing that, okay, if no one's open against man coverage, I got to get out of this

pocket and I got to go. And one of the things I'll always remember, Pat, about that opening night in South Paulo is that he was running over defensive backs. He was trying to get through linebackers to make it a point that he was going to be a tougher quarterback. He wasn't necessarily going to use the sideline to his advantage that we had seen in the past. Well, now he's got to change that mentality once again because of the ACL and LCL surgery that he had on his left knee. He's going to have to rely on handing the ball off to Kenneth Walker. And I think for the coaching staff, most notably Andy Reed, the play caller,

man, you've got to find a way to get Patrick Mahomes under center so that you can have the true capability of a traditional play action dropback passing game, right? That was something that the Chiefs really weren't good at last year. It's something they really didn't feature a lot in their office. But if you got a legitimate threat in Kenneth Walker, well, now those linebackers and those safeties have to respect that, and maybe now you can throw the ball over the top to Xavier Worthy, or maybe you can find openings for Travis Kelsey in the intermediate zone

if the running game is effective, and you can set that up for the play action pass. Yeah, play action, obviously, a great weapon for a quarterback. Have to be able to go under center if you want to get the run game going, allegedly. I mean, every team that's ever won has been able to do it. Shout to Harold R. Coontz, pronounced, for this video. I have learned that lesson publicly that K-U-N-T-Z is K-N-T-Z is K-N-T-Z is K-N-T-S, of course. Sure. Of course it is.

It could be something else, though. That's just my natural brain, but Coons all over it, Nate all over it. And we appreciate the fact that we just called out not having any Kenneth Walker clips. He's not a rookie, so he reports to camp today. Sure. That's not possible. That's on us for getting upset about that. But I do appreciate that Patrick Mahomes come out and said,

I got to stop taking as many hits. Because last year, whenever we were down in Texas, Texas Tech for College Game Day. He walked up onto the set and I just, hey, listen, man, you and I don't really, I know you, I'm a fan. I think, I think we could say, you need to stop running. You need to stop getting the hits that you're getting. And he told me, well, if we need it.

You know, the offense needs it. We're going to keep doing it. It's like, no, you need to stop, man. This is for the good of fucking football, okay, for everybody. We need you to stop getting hit for the good of ball. And obviously, he was a monster through a lot. He was running over a lot of people. I mean, he was giving them out.

I'm happy he has those on his highlight reel for whenever he goes into Hall of Fame. Now let's get back to the magic. Let's get back to running backwards 30 yards and then throw in it as far as we possibly can to someone. Let's get back to not getting killed every time I see you on TV. I'm happy that's going to happen.

Now, last question. You bring in Kenneth Walker on offense on defense, though. Lose a couple. D-Bud has the last question for you, Ney. Yeah, Nate, part of this dynasty, obviously, Mahomes has been great, but defense has helped win some of these championships. Who do you think would be carrying, I guess,

a heavier low in the defense? be a lot of guys departing, obviously, a lot of new faces, even some familiar face back, like Sneed coming back. Who are some of these guys that we expect, I guess, carrying more weight on that defensive end this year? Yeah, I mean, once again, Chris Jones is going to have to be just an all-world player at defensive tackle. Now, he moves out to Edge on third down occasionally. But look, the Chiefs are going through a youth movement yet again.

It's something they did in 2022 with Trit McDuffie and Brian Cook and Jalen Watson. And I mentioned all those guys because they're no longer here. Those guys all got paid. They all went elsewhere. Obviously, the Rams sought out to have Trip McDuffie and make him the top paid cornerback, at least for now. Jalen Watson was their number two cornerback. He's in Los Angeles as well.

Even Leo Chanel, who was probably their most versatile defensive player in the linebacking court. He's in Washington. So look for these names now. You got Mansour Delane, who the Chiefs moved up to six. And they're basically asking him, hey, you can be a version of Trip McDuffie or you need to be slightly better than Trip McDuffie, who we know is an all-pro player. You got Peter Woods, who I think might be their best pick in the draft at 29.

He was a defensive tackle out of Clemson, and for years, fellas. We know Chris Jones is going to get double-teamed on third down. We know that Steve McLeod is going to set up some blitzes where you use Chris Jones as basically furniture to get somebody open through a gap or two. Well, can we have Peter Woods be able to win one-on-one when you know Chris Jones is going to take up much of that attention? The Chiefs are asking a lot out of R. Mason Thomas, a second. and round pick. He might be a starter on opening night between him and Ashton

Jolati in terms of, hey, can you give us a speed element off the edge that the Chiefs really haven't had since Frank Clark? And again, Frank Clark has been on the team since what, 2022? They're asking a lot out of these rookies. You know you're going to have Nick Bolton. You know you're going to have Chris Jones in the mix. And Spack's going to obviously dial it up

with Blitzis. But these young guys got to be exactly what the draft class was in 2022, which is durable, dynamic, and they're going to grow over the course of the season so that they can be ready when the Chiefs, if the Chiefs, make the postseason so that they can be core contributors. But as of right now, guys, the biggest question mark to me is outside of Patrick Mahomes, how does this defense deal to be ready on opening night against Bow Nix and the Denver Broncos,

who have a pretty good offense themselves? We shall see. And not a bad defense for Patrick Mahomes come back from NACO to take on opening night. We appreciate you, Nate. Camp on Awana. We hold you in our hearts. When we think about you. Salute your shorts.

Yinser. Here we go. Yeah, I actually found that out. I think last year when training camp. Yeah, great Pittsburgh man. Okay, let's talk about Pittsburgh men. Mike McCarthy, Aaron Rogers. Obviously, Omar just spoke about how much he gets asked about how much Mike McCarthy's a

Pittsburgh guy and how much he loves it for the Steelers. Aaron came out and said, this is definitely my last year. I thought about retirement. I love Mike. I came back for Mike to do this year. So potentially, you know, lead the way for the next quarterback, just like he did for Jordan Love in there in Green Bay, whether that is Aller or Will Hard. What is the big story right now, Caboos, out of Pittsburgh? Because it feels like all kumbaya going into camp.

Does it not? First time, long time? Yeah, I mean, it's first time in 19 years now that we've seen something different up here at the training camp. And it has been totally different. I say the story of the day is where the story of the camp so far would be Mike McCarthy and just how he has changed. virtually everything about this organization and how they go about their business in such a small portion of time. I mean, his attention to detail, and I don't know, you guys probably knew this more than me, but his intention to detail is just off the charts here. And that surprised a lot of people.

I think it surprised some of the players. Definitely surprised me. He's raring to go here. Like I said, he's changed everything from the start of practice. how they go about practice. They're not going to hit it all during training camp, which has been a Steelers staple for years now. But how McCarthy has just taken over,

and you could tell that he's a 16-year veteran in this business of how quickly he's been able to get up to speed and knowing what he wants to do. And he's been very, very impressive to me. When he got hired here, a lot of people in Pittsburgh were, like saying, what are they doing here? Instantly, he won them over.

And if anybody comes out here the next three weeks, I'm watching, I think they're going to win him over even more because Mike McCarthy has been very impressive so far. So I said this publicly, and a lot of people got mad that I was being asked about this. I mean, I don't know why I wouldn't be. But a lot of people got mad that I said, like, yes, the Steelers called me to ask me about coach Mike McCarthy and what it was like to work with him. some other guys and what it has been like. And my big takeaway was just how prepared Mike McCarthy was every single week whenever he

I mean, he showed up with a list of shit that he wanted to talk about every single week. He had ideas. He was calling checking in. He was watching it. It was like Mike McCarthy was fully invested in our show. But he also had like 10 other things. He was also coaching his daughter. I believe they won a national championship, I think, out there.

That's right. So it's like he's just a diligent planner. You know, he's very intentional with everything he does. And I do believe, this means no offense to anybody. no offense to anybody. Exactly. Please, no offense, anybody. But when you're a large human

and you have a yinzer accent, I think the natural reaction is like, this guy, big doofus, you know? And I think a lot of people, no, we're talking about Coach McCarthy. Talking about Coach McCarthy. We're talking about Coach McCarthy. Yeah, no offense, I said also.

Anybody here. But I think that was, like, kind of a lot of people's thought is like, this guy's like this. And our experience with him was the complete opposite. I mean, it was like notes. It was everything.

So I said that whenever I was asked about it. And then whenever he gets hired, they're like, yeah, we did call and ask bad it was. And I just thought it was very impressive what he did. He prepared more than any television person I've ever seen. And it was like, if that's how he treats just like a once a week stop by with us, I couldn't imagine what he does with his actual career that he understands. And oh, yeah, he wins games all the time. So it's like, can he figure it out in Pittsburgh?

They've always had a good defense. Offense seemingly been an issue. Health kind of a thing. Attention to detail seemingly a thing. It's like everything he brings, should lead to success quickly, and it sounds like it's already kind of settling in, especially with a quarterback who's going to be all in. Now, Tone has some questions for you, Mark. Yeah, Kowgli, kind of building off that. T.J. Watt came out today, and he said,

I know I say this every year, but it feels like this year we are actually going to move around him, Herbig and High Smith. And then D.K. kind of came out and said something similar about him moving around and how much better the offense is going to be this year. Like you talk about us as fans, how we can see it with Coach McCarthy. It feels like the players as well have already noticed. what's going on with Coach McCarthy, and maybe it feels like they're excited for the change. Yeah, absolutely. That's what you've noticed right away.

It is something different. And I say different doesn't mean bad. Different just means obviously different. You can go about things many of different ways and be successful. And what it looks like is they are going to do things a little bit differently on offense and defense. And especially with defense, I mean, we've been screaming, as we, I say fans of the Steelers, about moving around T.J. Watt for years and years, he's pushed back on, and he's admitted to pushing back on that the past couple of years. But he says he has no choice in that issue now. Patrick Graham, the new defensive coordinator, or requiring him and putting them in positions to move those guys inside, outside, all around.

And if you don't know where T.J. Watts going to line up on every single play, it makes him a little bit more difficult to be able to double team him or slide somebody to that side. and help out with that. So that should help out the defense tremendously. But this coaching staff is very, very deep, very, very accomplished. That should help out. But these guys do feel like it's just a breath of fresh air. It's nothing against Tomlin. I mean, Tomlin did what he wanted to do and how he did it

and it was successful for many, many years. But at the end, it may have seemed like it got stale all over it. I didn't think it got stale, but once you see McCarthy, coming in and bringing different types of feelings and different types of schemes and different types of things he wants to do. Then you really notice, yeah, maybe it did get a little bit still there a little bit. So offensively, Aaron wants to go under center, which he didn't do much last year, wants to play action, which he didn't do much last year. And they got a whole heck of a lot of weapons now on offense. And that Y receiver room is pretty deep when you got guys like Metcalf, Pittman,

rookie Jeremy Bernard, Roman Wilson, RICO Donald, Jalen Warren running ball, Friamuth, Washington. Hey, man, why, boy? Yeah, they are. It feels like the team is in a better position that's ever been. I like that your ears are already for training camp. They're kicking those AirPods out. I like you're still wired too because you don't want your brain to get fried.

Yo-Yo Ma and Mr. Rogers looking over your shoulder there. So obviously three icons kind of on the screen. We ask Yo-Yo Ma. Yeah. I remember now. Is that who that is? You know, Maude didn't play football, so Caboli doesn't know what that is. I have no idea who that is.

The wired ear buzzer, first of all, I don't think wireless have made it to Pittsburgh yet. And this is, if Aaron Rogers wears him, they're good. Yeah, Aaron gifted it to everybody. I'll tell you what, Aaron wins a Super Bowl in Pittsburgh, and he said this is his final year, and he wins a Super Bowl. He has no idea what that city will do for him for the rest of his life, especially if McCarthy goes on to have... All the ice cream he wants. Forever. And he is just house and ice cream.

You know, I am a little bit worried because I saw Michael Pittman put a off-season photo dump on Instagram. And then Ben Scronic posted, like, I thought I was going to be in here. He wasn't. So is there a little bit of, you know, they've been hanging out, but is there still, you know, sometimes when you hang out, you don't become friends. It actually goes. Yeah, he's going for the best friend title for Aaron. I think Benny Skull currently has it. Well, I just want to let you know, Benny Skow is very confused on why he was not in the dump.

And I'm like, wait a minute, is there a little, here it is. Not going to lie, expected to be in this dump. It's like, yo, is everything okay over there? I almost commented underneath. Is everything okay in Pittsburgh? I would have loved to see the reaction immediately there. From my understanding, Benny Scoey is the glue guy of all glue guys. From my understanding, he is the guy that he wants around everywhere.

And we would say this, Pittman, the guy would die on a field for you. Yeah. Like actually, he will go head first into a blender to catch a ball. I mean, he's perfect for the city of Pittsburgh. I'm almost getting too excited. But now, before we think about the future, last question for you. We're going to have to revisit the last 25 years. Go ahead, Dee, bud.

Yeah, absolutely. Something I've been following along with you, your greatest stillers of the last 25 years. I know this list was tough. This is obviously a great organization. Your top four, how did you get to that top four? And have you gotten any pushback for it at all? I love it, by the way. Well, the only pushback I got back was from Nick and Tone.

Questioning one of my lower picks there instead of leaving off San Antonio Holmes. So I'm sorry about that, Antonio. Maybe I should have slid you in there somewhere as a tie. But no, I mean, those top four or five are really, really difficult. Not number one. We know Ben is the goat, right? Antonio Brown, I don't think people realize that six-year span he had from, I believe, 13 to 18 and how dominant he was.

And Troy, Troy, it's Troy, man. I mean, the guy made big play after big play. And T.J. White, when you have 115 career sacks, he's up there as well. So it's a really tough list. And you look at the top 10, I probably did Alan Fannickettick as dirty there. Yep, but he's

real thin, so he's not going to go fight you right now. He's trying to live a healthy life. No, Jerome Bettis is just a wild thing to think about, but you go, last 25 years, he was only a couple times. It's like San Antonio Holmes. He's got the best catching of history of the Super Bowl. Actually, won that thing against Arizona and court.

Now, granted, this is you putting together a list on us, and we're allowed to do this. I would never sign up to do this. Because you're going to piss a lot of people off. For instance, St. Tonya Homs is going to say, oh. Okay. I said I had one gripe that Stant should have been in there, and I was like, who would I take off?

And I love Joe. I love Joe Hayden. But he was only there for five years. Stant was there for four years. Sant was a Super MVP, best catch of all time. The kickstand catch. The kickstand catch. Toboli, that is something.

It feels like you do have some, obviously, some contentious reactions. Antonio Brown at number two, I think a lot of people are going to go, A, B over Troy fucking Paul Mueller, and then you run some Antonio highlights. joining us now ladies and gentlemen he covers the 49ers for the San Francisco standard David Lombardi we are way past time what up Lombo How's it going? You guys missed the city yet? I was about saying we're going to push. We are never going to get everybody in in this hour that we scheduled.

We are already 10 minutes behind. Lombo, we apologize for making you wait, but we appreciate you joining us. We do love that city. How much are you loving what you're seeing and hearing about this Niners team going into the year? Kyle Shanahan News, very scary sounds like 40 stitches, concussion protocol that came out today. He was holding his phone, but somebody swerved into him. He is not being held liable. but certainly very serious injuries have taken place.

He's kind of watching as Chris Forrester's going. Is that the big story coming out of San Francisco 49ers camp? Or is it Mike Evans getting acclimated with the offense? What do you think is really the big talking point right now, Lombo? Well, it's a combination of both because the good news with Kyle is that he has been out on the field the first two days of practice. About 20 to 30 minutes, he's been watching in deep center field. That's where John Lynch likes to watch from because Lynch in his playing days is a

safety. He likes that vantage point. And yesterday, actually, the 49ers ran a couple deep passes right toward where Kyle and John were standing. And Kyle actually had to scatter. He had to move because he had a receiver and a cornerback bearing down on him. And he got out of the way just fine. He's been wearing sunglasses. And I haven't really gotten an up-close look at the injuries on his face. But he has a lot of fractures and he had to have those 40 stitches. But the good news is that he is out on the field for those 30 minutes a day. The concussion. is probably limiting the time that he can be out in the bright sun, but they're hoping he's going to be back full-time sooner rather than later.

But what he has seen in those 30 minutes guys is a wide receiver cord that is way, way more threatening deep than last year. Starting with Mike Evans, but Dejohn's dribbling is fast, and Ricky Pearsall is healthy. So they've been attacking and stretching the ball downfield quite a bit here over the first two practices. Okay, we'd like to hear that. Tell me about the defense. We've got dogs everywhere. Obviously, Fred Warner says, tackling is not that hard because he just run through somebody's face, I believe is what he said.

And he plays like that, as does the defense. They've had injuries last couple years, I do believe. Rahi Moore's over there now. Yeah. Blue O's D.C., I mean, there's potential magic in the air for the Niners as a whole. Tell me about the defensive side of the ball and what expectations are for them. Well, guys, just go back to the first two weeks of last season before Nick Boso went down in week three. And then Fred Warner went down in week six.

But the pass rush closed two games, two wins for the 49. including one on the road over the Seahawks, who ended up being a dominant team that won the Super Bowl. That was Nick Bosa knocking the ball away from Sam Darnold. So obviously when they lost those two guys early on, it was all downhill from there. They couldn't stop the run at the end of the season. They couldn't rush the passer.

They had only 20 sacks. That was the fewest in the league. So I said at the start of this offseason that the 49ers' biggest additions, no matter what they did in free agency or the draft, would be Fred Warner and Nick Bosa, because you effectively didn't have those guys last year. They're both back. Nick looks unreal.

You can't even tell that he tore his ACL. The third time he tore his ACL. But he looks like he's in great shape. Trent Williams even said that it looks like he's in better shape than he was before he tore his ACL last year. And Fred, it's funny. Every single time he makes a play, he looks over toward the media. And he pretends he has a phone in his hand and he starts saying, hey, tweet about it, tweet about it. He's very, very excited to be out there.

So they've got the two veteran stalwarts, but then, of course, they're adding some young talent to that defense. They were the oldest defense just two years ago in the entire NFL. Now they're one of the younger defenses in the entire league, so they're hoping to fill it in with some nice speed and exuberance around Warner and Bosa. Kendall's 100% healthy? Not yet. He's ahead of schedule, and he is still on Pup right now,

but he's shooting to be back for week one. The problem is that there's going to be a 15-hour. our flight week one. I'm not really sure if they're going to let him get on that flight. But he's tracking to be back sooner rather than later. Hey, Don Under's awesome, though.

The Packers have a strict nine-month no football rule after ACL tears. And Mike's wasn't even a clean ACL tear.

He had a meniscus injury, too, so he had to get that repaired. So the earliest we'll see him on the field, even on the practice field, is September 30th. That would be nine months and one day after his surgery. That would be the start of the week of practice before there are week four game against the Buccaneers. If we think he needs a couple weeks to get ramped up, he's probably going to return. turn week six here at Lambo Sunday night football against who?

The Dallas Cowboys. Yeah. Hell yeah. We like that. The script makers are going to be pumped whenever they see that that's possible. The strict no field policy by Green Bay for nine months. I'm just learning that right now. I like that. Yeah, thank you for introducing us to that. Even if they spend the most amount of money they've ever spent

on a player, they're sticking to their policy, which I think is kind of policies. Yeah, that's policy. Which I can certainly respect. Let's go to the offensive side a little bit. Jordan Love, taking another step. What do we expect? Loses Dobbs, obviously. That's a big deal. Pay another wide receiver. What should we expect from the offense, Snides?

Yeah, I think they have, you know, three clear-cut wide receivers right now. In the past, the story's always been, all right, they have probably five or six, number two, number three wide receivers. But they let Romeo Dobbs walk to the Patriots. They trade Dantavian Wicks to the Eagles. Now it's Christian Watson, Jaden Reed, and Matthew Golden. There's really nobody else that they're going to strongly feature. So there are also two other big question marks on the offense, and that's Tucker Kraft. He tore his ACL in week nine last year. He's starting camp on the PUP list, but he told us a couple weeks ago that he expects to play week one in Minnesota.

So that's good news because he, at the time he got injured last year, you could have made the case that he was a top two, top three tight end in the NFL. And he's probably going to become, I wouldn't be surprised if he is, the highest paid tight end in the league here in the next couple weeks. even before he steps on the field. And then another big question on the offense is what's going to happen with Josh Jacobs' legal situation? He's still under investigation by the Brown County District Attorney's Office, which I emailed

them on Thursday. They said, you know, it's still an open case. We'll have an update when something's resolved. But he was arrested and then jailed on five charges relating to domestic abuse in May, released from jail because the DA's office couldn't find enough evidence at the time to pursue those charges. They wanted to continue their investigation. He practiced all offseason while he was under investigation.

Players on the team have strongly supported him. Matt LaFleur has said he's been a model citizen around here, but his future is kind of uncertain as well until we find out how this legal situation resolves itself. God, it's crazy what sports has all involved in it. I mean, there's so much luck. There's so many mistakes that can't happen. There's so many things that have to take place to win a Lombardi. You guys know anything about that over there, Lombardi?

A little bit. Do you? Just a little bit. It's been a while, but a little bit. Ty has a question for you, Schneide. Yeah, Schneider, what about the O line? A couple years, two years ago, that was like, you know, they arguably had one of the best offensive lines in the league.

Then last year it was kind of bad, changing a lot of different guys around. They let a couple guys go. Are we anticipating that they'll kind of have the same nucleus and they're not just going to start a bunch of different combinations this year? And do they feel good about where their offensive line is at going into this year? Yeah, I think they do, but there's two big questions, and that's Zach Tom, who's their best offensive lineman, who's received some... Sorry, there's a truck behind me.

Received a couple... All pro votes the last couple of years, but he partially tore his Patelor Tendin against the Broncos. Same game, Micah tore as ACL in last year. He's ready to go for training camp. He's not on PUP, but he was kind of banged up all last year after getting a huge extension. And then Jordan Morgan, he was their first round pick in 2024, played left tackle at Arizona. But he has played everywhere else on the offensive line besides left tackle in meaningful games here in the NFL. He's there starting left tackle this year.

He's finally getting the chance to play the position. he wants to play. We don't know if he's any good on Jordan Love's Blindside. So that's going to be a massive question, Mark, is can a recent first-round pick succeed at left tackle? And is Zach Tom healthy after off-season surgery? If those two things check out, I think all systems are go for this offense. Can't wait to watch LaFleur with another year. I like how aggressive they've been under policy. Are the Packers going to win the whole damn thing again?

The conversation is it's too quiet around here for us. George Pickens, I was told, showed up to the bus early, got on the plane, he was ready to roll, so no hold out. I already talked to him during minicamp and OTAs. I said, so you're not going to pull up with, you know, we saw this last year. Micah Parsons showed up and then he had a back situation. Not going to happen.

In fact, they did the physicals this morning. And every single guy that they were working off to the side during OTAs or mini camp, they're sort of slow playing, they're all ready to go. So normally we open up the presser at 11 o'clock and we sort of do a roll call. Who's going to be available? Every single one of them. And I've covered this team 14 years now.

I can't remember a year like that, guys. So cautiously optimistic, this is a drama-free camp, but we know better covering the speed. I was about to say that on that note, we have a question about an actor, a mogul, a oil conglomerate, a natural gas, honeyhole finder. Go ahead, D. Butt.

Yeah, you've been covering for 14 years and we've watched football, so we've been forced to hear about the Cowboys and a lot of Jerry Jones, but haven't heard much from him this offseason. What do you know about that? Has that been intentional him being kind of behind the scenes?

Like, what do you have any more on that? Well, he's been to the World Cup and he's been on his Eugenia, the boat out in the Mediterranean. But look, they handled the George Pickens thing early. A lot of people thought this was going to be an issue, but George told us it can't. They came to him in good faith.

They said, look, we're going to offer you the tag. There's not going to be a trade. We're not going to be talking about. extension. I think that sort of put things to bed. And I think the other thing that stood out to me this all season guys was not that they gave Shottie the reins, but they've empowered him with going and finding a guy like Christian Parker who was in his notebook. They brought him in here first year as a DC. And then when you look at this roster, they addressed all those issues in the offseason. Guys that were leaders in this locker room that were sort of out of place, out of position with

Christian Parker's vision for this scheme. They moved on for them. They got trade value. So there's going to be a lot of new faces here. But I think at some point, you have to say the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over and getting the same results. This year, at least for their part, you're not getting front office changes, boys, but you're at least getting the process looks a little different than years past. Jerry's handling business while he's just set in sale on the Eugenia, a $235 million boat right there. Remember, he did do a draft selection from this particular boat during COVID. And I like the Jerry's on that boat going, I'm by, this ain't bad, is you? You don't have chaos happening everywhere. Maybe we win another shoot bowl out here.

And I appreciate the fact that Jerry Jones has done things his way. And I appreciate that he's handed it off to his family. I appreciate the fact that he's letting Shottie kind of do his thing. We got a chance to be with Shottie for a bit. I'll tell you what, last man standing there. That showed me a lot. He was with us. There wasn't a lot of people that were, I mean, I respect Shottie. I like Shottie. Feels like he's always been a player's coach. He always gets it. And I think the Dallas Cowboys love him. So I'm pumped to see if there able to accomplish something that they haven't been able to do for a long-ass time. Tone has last question for you here, Jane.

Yeah, Jane, we talked about the new D.C. Christian Parker. And then obviously, you know, Ray Sean Gary will be there. Quinn and Williams, those will be new faces there. But I wanted to talk about the first round draft pick, Caleb Downs. How excited were the Cowboys that he fell to them at number, I think it was 12? And then how excited are they to get him in camp and use him? They love the guy. And if you look at some of these behind the scenes, because I know you're a big Cowboys fan,

you can just look at how Christian Parker really drills down on the mechanics, and you don't need to do much of that. I talked to his father who played for the Giants, and he said when he was four years old, his brother obviously plays for the Colts. You guys know that. And while he would be a, you know, peewee, pop water, or whatever you guys want to call it,

he would be off to the side running his own drills. And during Media Day, they went looking for Caleb, and he was in the film room already. So I think they're going to get really creative with how they use them. You're going to see them in the nickel spot a lot. But I really think they need to figure out what they're doing with this cornerback rotation. A lot of people are talking about the Mike linebacker.

But if you look at some of the personnel that they were very deliberate about bringing here to Dallas, you can have some variations. And then there's been some talk, maybe they think outside the box. And you've got Jalen Thompson, who wears that green dot as a safety. So I think that's what's going to be interesting to see here in practice. Obviously, with defense, you and offense, you don't get to see too many of the things. But I think what's going to really stand up for you is they've got those two practices against the Rams and they've got one against the Saints.

In this case, the Rams have come here like four years in a row. They're going down there. So then we'll start seeing a little bit more of a better perspective of what we can expect. So I think this is another great move by Harry Roseman, another, obviously great deal for Jaylen Cardi becoming highest paid ever. He want number nine to the Eagles? Which is why Drew Rosenhouse going in, said, we're not going past 10.

That means he was told immediately, hey, if he's available, nine, we're definitely going to take him. Because on a football field, always a menace since college. I mean, you just pick people up and move him. Now, would he be able to handle being a professional football player? He certainly has. He does choke sometimes

which one of those teams makes a meaningful move? Is Max Crosby going to play with the Raiders for the whole year? If not, is somebody going to try to once again trade for Max Crosby? I'm a believer in Stefan Diggs on the field. So who's going to add Stefan Diggs? I know Shepty was talking about with Washington. Patrick and the health of his knee, not only the health of his knee,

but how well he plays and kind of what he looks like. So I think, you know, looking at this chart, if you told me Houston got good quarterback play, they would be my pick out of the AFC to go to the Super Bowl, but there's a big question mark

of kind of like how CJ plays and really performs in his fourth year. So those are probably my biggest storylines, I'd say. Caleb, another year under Ben. Yeah, the AFC sound. is obviously the toughest division in ball. We understand that.

Let's talk about some of these younger quarter that I'm excited to watch, and I think they have a lot of pressure on him. Go ahead, AJ. Yeah, Dan, what about Drake May, obviously, with New England? We know he was MVP

Kenney and almost won that thing last year. He brings in AJ Brown now another huge weapon. I guess what are you looking for from this Patriots offense and you think they can even take another step? We know their defense is going to be legit, but what do you think of Drake May? Massive fan. He was a superstar last year. I think that the, you know, the question marks with New England are, one, who replaces the production of Stefan Diggs in like the meaningful snaps or situational football moments, red zone, third downs in the middle of the field. I love the addition of AJ.

I said this, AJ gives them that gronk type of one-on-one put you outside by yourself, you're bigger, faster, stronger than most other people. And that's going to have a part of their offense. But Steph was so big in situational football and in the middle of the field type. of the feel place and who replaces? Is that going to be Romeo Dobbs? I'm a big Romeo Dobbs guy who comes over from Green Bay. He's got to stay healthy, obviously. But I think that finding the person that replaces that type of role is going to, because that's not AJ's role. It's just not. I would argue it's not necessarily the strength of Romeo's game. I think Romeo's a little bit more

of an outside guy. He can work the middle field more of a man guy than his own guy for me. So I think like who kind of fills that boy. It'll be a big deal. Their offensive line's going to have to play a lot better. But he'll absolutely be in the MVP conversation. Once again, Drake May. Why do you think that is the case? I think one, people believe that he's taking this significant step back, AJ Brown. I don't believe in that. I don't, AJ's never been, because I see, I see the whole like yards of separation tweets that people put out. AJ's never been this massive separator. He's always been, like, in breakers, he's run away from people, but he's always used this big frame or down the field stuff to go make the plays. He's still plenty capable of that.

I think of DeAndre Hopkins when he had some of his years, you know, post that prime time in Houston. So plays like that. And I just so I don't think the big step back. And I think the second thing is if you just know Josh McDaniels's offense and you know the style of offense that he likes to play, the number one thing that I would tell you past game wise is it's so matchup centric. he is always chasing matchup A, matchup B, matchup C. And the quarterback's job is just to find the best matchup. And I think AJ is going to be that piece that has constantly moved around to try to create that a matchup.

Not always going to happen. And they have other people that can hurt you if it doesn't. But there's just not, and D. Butt knows, there's not a lot of guys that are just going to line up and go one-on-one versus A.J. Brown down in the red zone and win. And so you're going to see it down in the red zone. They're going to get inside a 10. AJ's going to have a route tag to every single play almost being like, hey, run the fade, run the smart, run the stop, run the pile on all that stuff. And I think he can still do that at a high level. AJ Brown has had seven touchdowns the last three seasons.

So that was with the Philadelphia Eagles offense in which he was not happy. I mean, reading books on the sideline, making statements. He scores seven touchdowns the previous three seasons. We assume that that's only going to go up, especially if Drake Mae believes in him. Drake May throws a perfect ball. So being able to hit back shoulders or in bucket is something that Drake I think takes a lot of pride in his young career. A.J. Brown can make those plays. And the head coach of the New England Patriots, whenever he was with the Tennessee Titans,

he watched his offense go from 15th in the NFL to 28th after they traded away A.J. Brown. So I think Mike Vrable has given quite a message to McDaniels. Hey, let's get this guy. We get this guy the ball. Okay, that's why we won. Got him here. Everybody was assuming he was going to New England for a long time before he went up to New England. England. I think he's going to have a huge year. And I can already hear Connor yelling from

one of those islands about all the people that we didn't talk about on the offense that he's excited about. How about Mac Hollis? You think that guy's going to make the play? He's now barefoot walking around restaurants. I'm excited for the Patriots fans who I was around a lot this past weekend. Super Bowl or bust for them all of a sudden again for every single season. But what's the timeline that you expect to see out there in Vegas with Mendoza? Yeah, I would sit Mendoza until I absolutely had to play him. So it's either that ownership says get him on the field, which I would fight personally, or, you know, your season is back end of November and you want to start that final. six-game stretch with him. You know, Dee, but I was thinking about this because I'm doing NFL live today with Adam Thielen,

who's got a history with Clint Kubiak, new head coach of the Raiders. Demon. And I was thinking about the, I've talked to so much about how it's going to be a completely different offense for Fernando than he's ever run before. And it was only attached to the on-the-field stuff. And then I was thinking today, it's going to be a totally different world for him from the, and for Clint, because Clint Kubiak first past a couple years has been around some, you know, veteran quarterbacks that have experienced NFL offenses. But just think about Fernando having to go and hear a 8 to 12 to 14 word play call.

Get it into the huddle. What's a cow, bro? The guy's got a super break. Yeah, but it's still, it's still being able to in this period of time, five seconds. hear it, communicate it, clearly. And Pat, I'm telling you, there's things in the huddle when, like, I'm telling you this receiver, you're going to be aligned somewhere different than you were last week. The shift, the motion, the timing of it, the cadence.

Like, I need people to understand this. And you hire Clint Kubiak in part because of the intelligence element of his offense. Like, you love the way he calls his plays and calls a game. You don't want to take that away from him too early because he's going to be playing a younger quarterback. I'm not saying this is impossible. You asked me how long but I would wait. I would wait until I would think that Fernando can operate pretty heavily all of my offense because that's part of the reason why you've hired me.

Got it, got it. I understand what you're saying. But what we are trying to tell you is you have kind of, how would I say it? You have, I think you have showcased that you don't really respect Fernando for what we respect Fernando for. Through the evaluation process. I think people would say that handicapping. And there it is. You have been handicapping Fernando in a way that we don't appreciate.

So that is just a differing of opinion between us. You saying, you know, these 15 words. It's like, Fernando just graduated, I think, with honors from Cal, okay? And he views everything like that. I know a lot of dudes who played quarterback that were smart that they couldn't go do it on the field. Yeah, Win a Heisman in a national championship, obviously, and carry Indiana to a title. I mean, I know a lot of those dudes as well. But I'm just saying this is once again you having your draft thoughts kind of creep in.

Because you know what I'm saying to him? Put his ass in there. Week one. Week one. Why? Because he's a dog, dude. Let me ask you this. Let me ask you this.

Let me ask you this. Let's have a legit conversation. I love Kirk Cousins. Okay. Have you seen Fernando and Kirk Cousinner's looking at Kirk Cousins like this. This is another thing you discount. The guy is a giant. He's an athlete.

I'm not discounting anything. You discount everything, this guy. He's not going to be able to remember. He's not going to be able to do this. You live in an assumptive world. Let's pretend that we're in the Raiders. And we sit there and say, man, we really like this kid. Clint, how much of our offense can we go week one and operate?

And he says, right now with all the things that we want to do, if we want to play Fernando, we're going to run 40% of our playbook. Figure out a way to win. But then you to put him out there? Well, why are you putting him... Fernando knows 100% of the playbook by the time he is ready to play. You know that.

I saw Andrew Luck check to something in his first offseason. And I think I would compare Fernando's brain. Andrew Luck ran... His brain maybe, but Andrew Luck literally ran one of the more intricate offenses in college football. Harbaugh would give him three or four plays

in the hundred of time, multiple shifts, multiple motions. Okay. So I didn't see Nookowski. in motion every single play. I mean, what are we even talking about here? Handled every single defense with flying colors.

I understand what Dan is saying. Fernando, obviously, he played at an elite level, but the simplicity of the offense that he ran in college. And it was like, it was run game, it was RPO's, it was back shoulder phase, it was thing. He did other things, but to Dan's

point, I get, like, Andrew ran a pro-style offense. He was obviously a son of a quarterback. So it is a difference of intelligence. So it is a difference of intelligence, football intelligence. Now, I do think Fernando's going to figure out. I mean, what are we even talking about? I do think Fernando has football intelligence, but can you go in the week one and he knows 75% of the playbook or we can operate at even 60% of play.

I'm putting Fernando out there before I'm putting him. I mean, if you. Kirk Cousins. I don't disagree with that deep. Like, if we sit, if we're again in the organization and we say, hey, this, we think this guy can run 75, 80% of our playbook from the personnel groupings to the situation of football stuff to the shifts in motions. He's got the timing of the footwork down.

We think he's mentally tough enough to deal with some of the obstacles he's going to deal with. Then it's a different conversation. You asked me what I thought was... Now you're thinking he knows 30% of the offense, so you're just immediately discounted and what this guy's brain is. So you have a narrative, okay? You have a narrative. Yep.

Whoa. Jeez. I don't know what you're doing down there. Maybe, you know, maybe Seth Rawlins isn't, you know. Maybe he is. Maybe he's that's all this is it. But what I'm saying, Dan, always, you need to stop viewing Fernando through the,

So I think he's going to learn the offense. I don't think the brain is going to be a problem. I think the way he views defenses is in a professional manner. Now, will he be able to have it immediately? I think yes. I think he will. There's obviously going to be rookie grilling pains through it all with him in Kubiak, but like, I'm a believer. I'm a believer.

And he's this big, Dano. Yeah, I know he's a mountain of a man. I get that. He's a big dude. Clint, a couple years ago, was with, I believe, Brock Purdy when he had to step in for Jimmy G. Was he there? Was Clint Kubiak there? Maybe, Minnesota.

But I think he was there with Brock as a young kid. So he should have a feel for like at least the, baseline of what you want a young kid to sound like and operate like in practice to say, yeah, I think this kid's got a chance to get on the field sooner than maybe we anticipated. Yeah, but if he starts week one does great, I mean, you just kind of, you know, next draft season, we're going to have to revisit it, you know, and you know that. And you know that. So that's what you're doing here.

new coach, and Harbaugh has gone, or because they had very much of a down year last year where, you know, the O-line wasn't great, which in return, Lamar was banged up, he wasn't great. The defense has missed some pieces. Why do you think that no one is talking about the Ravens? Because the last three, four years,

they have been perennial Super Bowl favorites going into the season. Yeah, I mean, I think part of it is because they have earned the burden of not having us care that much about what they do in the regular season. And that's not necessarily fair. But they've been so good for so long. I remember when Dak Prescott kind of got into this world as a player where he was just playing

at a high level year after year after year. And then everyone was like, okay, what is he doing in the postseason? I think Baltimore is into that conversation just as a football team. I think Buffalo is in that conversation as a football team as well, where it's like we know you're probably going to be somewhere between 11 and 6, 12 and 5 somewhere in that world. You're going to be more than likely in the playoffs. And you've been so good.

Your quarterbacks have been so great, yet you've fallen short somewhere or another. And we just want to see what you're doing in the playoffs. So I think that's part of it is like, you know you're going to be a good football team. You're going to be playing into January. And then it's a little bit of the. You know, Jesse Mentor is more of a quiet personality. The Harbaugh name is actually an unbelievably dominant name in the football circle.

Jesse Mentor is a little bit more quiet personality, I think. And so it hasn't created a ton of off-the-field headlines. Lamar has been there all off-season, to my knowledge, that hasn't necessarily been a part of his off-season operation over the past couple years. I think there's some question marks on their football team. They lost Isaiah likely. They've got two young receivers that they draft that have to be really big players. The interior of their offensive line is going to be brand new.

Does Matabike play? So they're really good. But I think that there's some question marks. We have to see how it plays out this year. Go ahead, Ty. Yeah, Dano, certainly seems like the NFC North is one of the few conferences where you could really make an argument that, I mean, I suppose you could say maybe the Vikings will win. I don't believe that.

But you could really make an argument that any of the Lions, Packers, or Bears could win the division. What's your take on this division this year? I'll go first. I'll give you my pick. I think this is going to be the year the Packers put everything together. Really? It's not a homer pick. Okay, we got Micah going to be 100% come week six.

Jordan Love, finally they're going to take the reins off him. Maybe he wins MVP this year. What? I think so. Why this year are they taking the reins off first, maybe the previous? Well, because I think they're finally tired of all the stats coming out after the season about like how good he is and like he's in like the top five, everything. And then in the playoffs, like, for the first.

whatever reason. They let him throw the ball like eight times. And then it's like, do you trust the guy? You know, he's really good, but you don't really trust him to kind of just go out there and play. Who's going to be in the more wide out? Yeah, is LaFloran a hot seat then? If he won't call the place for Jordan Loebuck. I don't know. Dan, is he? He will be, yes. If they don't, I mean, we all know the expectation.

When you trade from Michael Parsons and give away your first round picks, you kind of raise the standard even greater in the expectation level. I'm with you. I would, if I had to pick a team today, it would be Green Bay. I think the offensive line is going to play better. Matthew Golden has to take a step forward. Tucker Kraft was becoming one of the best tight ends in football. He's going to come back from the ACL injury.

I think the defense is going to be very good. I think the addition of CSE and the secondary is going to matter. Here's my thing that I wish people truly started to understand a little bit more. I'm so, and I want to phrase this the proper way. I think we, as a football community, put way too big an emphasis on quarterbacks throwing interceptions, having this unbelievably negative impact on their ability to play at a high level and wins and losses. The guy who led the league in picks last year won the Super Bowl. And I'm totally aware of how good JSN was and the defense was dominant.

but I think if you have a very good defense and talented defense and Jonathan Gannon again and taking over as defensive coordinators a little bit of a lunatic in a good way and it's going to be bombs over everything like here it comes pressure after pressure after pressure if we're going to play defensive football like that you got to stop worrying if your quarterback throws a interception in the first quarter and then the reins come in

and the handcuffs go on I really believe for these ultra-talented guys, it's got to be, and I said this last year with Jordan, and we saw at times like, dude, if you throw a pick, I don't care. We have to test defenses more. We have to try to be, you're talented enough to make those challenging throws. That's why we pay you. If I didn't want you to make the challenging throws, I'd pay a quarterback that was just good. And so I think like the whole football world puts, oh my gosh, this quarterback, who cares?

It's a pick. Defense. Get it back for us. I'm not saying reckless, but I need Jordan Love and Matt LaFleur to enter into the marriage of we're going to be very aggressive all the time. Yeah, the no-risk, no-biscuit-type situation. And then obviously the lack of turnovers was one of Aaron Rogers' biggest thing. So I think the Green Bay Packers forever have been very conscientious of controlling the ball, especially if you have it. But Ty would probably follow up and ask, is that LaFleur making the play calls or is that Jordan Love deciding not to do it because he's being told,

not to risk anything. I think that's probably what ties immediate follow-up. Yeah, definitely, because he only threw six interceptions last year, and I think part of it might be the, like, hey, that was how Rogers killed people. He has the best touchdown to interception ratio in the history of the NFL, but, like, he wasn't turning the ball over a bunch. So is that, like, them

really harping on him? Like, hey, Jordan, we can't be turning the ball over. Our defense is playing so well. We just, let's go score points. Or is that him just playing cautious out there and not wanting to throw interceptions? Yeah, I would This is a guess. I would imagine it's a little bit of both.

You know, I'm not in those rooms to tell you exactly how they're communicating and philosophically how they're choosing to play. I understand the Aaron point. It was a different era, though. Aaron's offense that he played in was a West Coast. It was ball distribution. They would march the length of the field, get into the red zone, and he would just destroy you.

This Green Bay offense is a little bit more trying to create explosives from the play action past. game. He's not Jordan nearly as mobile and deadly as Aaron was when he was mobile. And so I don't know, you know, why for a young man that is as talented as he is. But I think when, and if they're fully healthy, there has to be a little bit of a philosophical shift to, and it's all situational as well. I don't, we don't need to come out in the first quarter and just throw into double coverage. I'm not saying that. But when you're watching tape

and, you know, it's, we've got a shot early on to Christian Watson and it's, you know, a 50-50 type of ball or an even leverage type of ball. Let's take our shot, dude. Like, if we're watching tape and you tell me, I just didn't feel, see, like, I don't need that.

If first 10 you're thrown into triple coverage, that's reckless. That's reckless. That's a non-negotiable. But there are exemptions. where you sit there and say, why don't you take that one? Like, why don't you throw that one? It's first and ten.

We call the shot play. We get the defense. I didn't love the leverage, but we got the leverage we want. Our other guys got to earn their scholarships. Yeah, and Jordan's a hooper. You know, he's a player. You can tell. He's not getting there.

So let's just let him. Hey, let's get loose out there, Jordan. You can make every throw. Not that one you just did against Carolina. That was bad. Especially if Rico Dowder. Especially if Rico Dowdell is going to go crazy like he could against your defense in that Carolina Panther.

game. Rico won. You came in here and said, is Rico Donald the best football player to ever play football after that particular weekend? I forgot about the triple coverage interception. That was the birth of the, hey, listen, the Panthers are good football team. Because they had not looked great up to that point. The Packers had, and they took a great football player. Okay, so Ty's got the Packers, Dan's got the Packers. NFC North, AJ, who are you picking? Oh, I got the Packers all the way, especially with Micah coming back. At minimum week six, we said, right? Schneidman said. You guys. It possibly comes back earlier than that.

Week four, I guess this nine-month no-field ACL injury rule that the Packers have that we just learned of today is something that. Me too. You really? Yeah, I didn't know of that. Luckily, I never tore my ACL, so maybe that's why I do not know that. But they are, you know, historically very conservative and actually really, really care and take care of their players.
