It is the absolute greatest, and we got huge contracts being announced around camps. We got huge problems being spotlighted around camps, and we got highlights in abundance for today's Friday's special, not-ass segment. Life is fantastic. Calm, man. This is what is. Love you, Connor. Obviously, Connor got married one week ago today. He has been celebrating his life for the last week or so. Excited for him to get back on Monday, where we will be live from. La Trobe? Pittsburgh Steelers Trading Game.

That's going to be on Monday. Now, I'll be excited to see how that. that goes. We just learned today that obviously they'll be practicing during our show, so that'll be happening behind us, but obviously talking to people associated with team during practice is a difficult thing. Sure. I believe maybe last half hour or so of show will be able to chitch out with some of the guys. We'll be fun to catch up. Mike McCarthy's winning people over. A lot of people saying he's not tackling and it's going to be soft. He's like, no mistake. It's going to be physical, all right? It's going to be a physical. But we've got an older roster here. We're just trying

to get these. These guys know how to tackle it. If they don't know how to tackle, how about this, I'll fire myself. If these professional football players at this stage, a lot of old guys on that team. Oh yeah. If they don't know how to tackle, that'll be on me. But people in Pittsburgh are saying, you're not taking ease. You're not going to the ground? I thought you were a Pittsburgh guy. You want the Dallas and got soft. Oh, Green Bay, that's cute. Is that fine? Here in Pittsburgh, we tackle people. Mike McCarley said, get off my ass, please. All right, we'll be thumping. Monday will be first day of pads. We'll be excited to see the juice from that particular practice as opposed to what we saw maybe last year.

Now, Tone, it's not just the Pittsburgh Steelers who were in training camp. Everybody's in training camp, and there was a lot of money given to a wide receiver down in New Orleans. Congratulations to Ohio State Buckeye. Chris O'Lave! All right.

He heard this. Now, listen, a lot of people talking about the Saints over the last few years, and Olave did have a year in which he had, I believe, a concussion, had some injuries, so he missed some games. I think he only had 32 receptions in that particular season, but three out of the last four years,

he's out over 1,000 yards. Last year, he had 100 catches. over a thousand yards, did his best work in Kelly Moe's offense, and now he's getting rewarded from that. A lot of people high on the Saints. And I'll tell you what, them giving Olave over $100 million, then you have to spend money. Okay, the NFL roster, salary cap structure. You actually do have to spend money so somebody is going to get paid. Them paying him all this money, and then you look over there at Tampa Bay, and it's like, Tampa Bay has got a lot of bad vibes. Saints got a lot of good vibes. Could have never guessed that going into the season, but that's where we sit. Saints could

be a real problem. And we've kind of ruled them out over the last couple years because they were in such salary cap hell. They were in such a situation where I think even the team themselves said, we got one, we got two arms tied behind our back basically for about a year or two. We won all in for about 10, 15 years straight. Now they're on the other side of that. Kelly Mo is a little bit more experience as a head coach. They obviously are able to keep Kamara there. They bring in A. Chan. They got their quarterback, although he's 27, and only in his second year, you're able to pay your wide receiver. Defense still has some stuff. It's like, hold the phone. Are the Saints a problem this year? And in an NFC South that has a lot of question marks. And with the vibes we're feeling from

the second day of camp, I'm saying yes to the NO, pal. Yeah, like when you talk about vibes in the NFC South, the Saints definitely have the best vibes coming into the season. They are second in the odds in the division. But when you look at the other teams, like the box vibes not great right now. The Panthers had really good vibes coming in, but they've already had two season-ending injuries to two of their young guys who they thought may contribute this year. So the Panthers vibes a little down. Obviously, they won the division last year. We still think they're going to be very good.

But in the Falcons, they don't know who their quarterback's going to be. So when you go with the Saints, the vibes really high, they feel like they found their young quarterback. They've got weapons. He's middle-aged. You're right. Middle-aged, young quarterback, second-year quarterback. But they drafted Jordan Tyson as a weapon for him.

They have Juan Johnson at Titan who's a great weapon. Alave. And this time last year, people were wondering if Alave was like going to play football again because of his concussion. and injury. But though, three of the last four seasons, as you said, over a thousand yards. The internet was like really, really felt really good for Lava yesterday because of what he dealt with the season before. Everyone seemed to be really, really happy for him yesterday. So it was awesome.

Ohio State wide receivers now in the NFL. And I know LSU says they are wide receiver you and they certainly have the argument. Ohio State, though, they are pumping out. Terry McLaren, obviously we know how we feel about him. We think he's an absolute doubt from Indianapolis, by the way. Garrett Wilson, we've seen him become the face of the Jets over there. Alave now signs for 132. And then Jackson Smith and Jigmas fresh off an offensive MVP where he got two trophies.

Yeah, not just one trophy because they spelled a word wrong. And he got 168 million in total. And then everybody in Arizona is like, all right, so now. Maserati Marv is going to get going, going to get going. Hopefully he will. I saw Carson Beck making some plays over there. I saw Jacoby spinning a little bit. That is kind of what this time of year is about,

is just finding out who can make a splash play once every three days so that the Internet's happy with their success. There's so much going on. We're only seeing glimpses of it, Ty. How are you taking it all? Same deal. You know, you see a guy every once in a while get really excited. Okay, he's going to, he's posed to have a big year. He's going to have a big year. Like when I'm watching the Packers, any time Jordan Love has a completion, Matthew Golden had a pretty big day yesterday, and I just said, okay, sign sealed and delivered. Matthew Golden's going to have 1,400 yards this year. He's going to have 12 touchdowns. He is going to be the number one guy. So it's a lot of that kind of stuff. And then it really is more so than anything else,

just holding your breath that none of your guys who you know you're going to need down the stretch are going to get hurt. Yeah, getting hurt is obviously something we're all watching for Schaefter and Rapp's Twitter accounts to keep us updated. And obviously the local reporters on the beat, we appreciate that. But you talk about highlights? Did we remember penguins are watering around at altitude all of a sudden? I forgot.

I'll admit. Well, here's a nice little reminder. Waddle, boom, is a member of. of the Denver Broncos with Bo Nix and Sean Payton as the offensive mind. I believe he's not calling plays, but still obviously in the building. Waddle being added to an AFC championship Denver Broncos offense with Bo Nix only getting better. This is something that until I saw this highlight, I wasn't fully like, oh, yeah. Holy hell, Waddle is a stud.

And Waddle's open. Waddle's tough. Waddle's fast. Waddle's a lot. And Waddle wasn't talked about much whenever he goes up to the Denver Broncos this offseason. He's going to make magic for him. This is just like the AJ Brown thing with New England. It doesn't really, I don't think it's really going to hit us until like some massive implications are on the line. And AJ Brown does something that AJ Brown has been doing since he got into the NFL.

And we go, oh, yeah, AJ Brown is now a member of the New England Patriots. Can't believe Drake May has another weapon. That Waddle Bow Nix thing, I think I just kind of, oh, not a big deal. And then you see him like, oh, yeah, Waddle is a dog. And now he's on a team that's actually a contender. I personally thought it was criminal when I looked at the draft king's odds and saw that the Denver Broncos were third in the AFC West right now as far as odds to win the division. They won that division last year. They made it to the AFC championship.

Their O lines been together for five years. Their defense had the most sacks, I believe, in the NFL last year. They're absurd. Their secondary is absurd. Then you add Waddle. Cortland Sutton's been great. Is he a true number one? Maybe, maybe not.

But he's a great 1A, 1B for Waddle. And then they have all those young wide receiver, talented wide receivers as well. I think, I don't know if people are sleeping on the Broncos, but for them to be behind the Chiefs and the Chargers, I know the Chiefs are the Chiefs, but for them to be third in that division seems a bit weird. Benito almost won what, defensive MVP last year,

you know, let alone everybody else they have on their team that are absolute stars, but Denver Broncos kind of getting overlooked and also brand new practice facility. Oh, my God. This is huge. Drone artist that did this, congratulations. We appreciate it, obviously. Great view of their new practice.

practice facility. It's a lot of walking. It's a lot of walking. It feels like a long way on a drone as we were getting a chance to kind of walk every hallway, see every room. They inevitably end up getting to the locker room and to the workout room. This is all front office stuff I do believe that we're seeing here. Just open in July. I mean, they've got a brand new facility. They got the richest owner in the sport, right? They got Sean Payton, who's now has his team and his vision. They add Waddle. Bo Nix has a chip on his shoulder, I assume. He gets removed from the biggest game of his life, literally in a heartbreaking way at the very end. It's like, yeah, he did.

He put his ankle on his shoulder as a chip. It's like the Denver Broncos are a problem. And I'm saying all that strictly because I saw Waddle snaggett one-handed. That's all we need. That is all you need at this time of year. Joining us, ladies and gentlemen, live from an Attica in Ohio, is a Super Bowl champion, a college football champion, a Ryder Cup winner. And Amanda was probably looking at that practice facility saying, man,

it'll make them like they used to, do the AJ Hawke. Hawker, did you fall? Hawker, did you follow that entire drone? It continues here. This is like kind of, I think for the front office, maybe the ad salespeople. Wait until they get to the players area. The players area is absurd, AJ. It is a ridiculous, new, beautiful facility.

Richest owner in sports certainly helps. But the Broncos in Sean Payton's Broncos all in. Now, I will say the barbershop's bigger than the running backs room, which does make you kind of question some things. But beautifully done, love the drone footage. Love the Waddle highlight. And these are the types of things we're looking for in training camp to make us go, oh, wait a minute, maybe.

There's a barbers. Look up. The barbershop is bigger than a running back room. But the good idea, by the way, everybody's in there, getting a fresh cut, makes you feel good. There's a whole field for you guys to work out in. And then they're going to get to the gym here in a couple seconds. This is the dining area, obviously, for the boys, you know, for the lads. Go ahead and check it out.

Do what you got to do. That's a lot of walking. It's a long walk. So big. It's a long walk. I mean, that's a very long walk. It's a very long walk. a college campus.

Yeah, it is, it is beautiful. AJ, Denver Broncos vibe. Here it is. Look at the fucking locker room. Wow. Yeah, it looks like a movie. It actually looks like a movie. I don't know if I like the down in the middle.

They're like sunken in. It's like a sunken in hangout spot, huh? Yeah, you got to go down the steps right there in the middle of the locker room. Look at the gym. I mean, this is awesome. Broncos might win to Super Bowl. Yeah, and that helps in free agency in college, right? Or sorry, in NFL, right?

No. No? No. Money helps. Okay, well, yeah. Yeah, I mean. I got a lot of that. Let's say the money's the same.

It doesn't hurt. Money's the same. The fact that they can run for a championship still. Yes. You know, that is a big contender. Yes. Primetime games. Yes.

What's my life going to be like? Well, everybody that's ever lived in Denver said it's the greatest. What's the practice? It's the newest and nicest. Okay, it certainly doesn't hurt. It checks a box. But I don't think it's really like a, hey, you see in our facility? How about a $4 million dollar cut?

Yeah. You're flying a lot of flag. You go to a cold play concert. You fly a flag a little bit. Last summer we went in Toronto, and I will say it was one of the great concerts I've ever been to, too, and look forward to going again.

It was incredible. one with my wife. I didn't get captured on the kiss camba with my wife, but I did go and my daughter. And it was awesome. It was honestly, they're amazing. They're amazing. Just the amount of uncomfort that Chris, right?

Yeah, Chris Martin. Chris had probably the week after that whole thing. Just how, oh my God. Oh, my God. Are we going to be like? What are they going to do? That is not what are supposed to be. We're supposed to have a good time here.

We're supposed to see Shephty and his wife, smooching. You know, we're not supposed to be doing all that. All right. Jeffee, let's talk a little bit about sports. Let's talk a little bit about the league. Olave obviously gets paid in a huge way. Three out of the last four years has been over a thousand.

We were talking about how the vibes in New Orleans, very high. I mean, the last couple of years, I feel like they punted. They understood the situation. They keep Kamara, obviously, Taysam Hill's done there. They pay Olave. They bring in A Chan. Tyler Shuck might be a guy. The defense has dogs all across the board.

Kelly Moe's a little bit more experience. And then they go over to Tampa and it's like, well, everybody hates everything over there. They're actually coming out and disappointed and disrespected, starting quarterback saying that. And the stud on the defensive side says, get me the hell out of here. So whenever we're reading these types of vibes and situations this early, should we jump the gun as quickly as saying, Saints are the favorite in the NFC South? And oh, yeah, the Denver Broncos, they're going to win Super Bowl. He's got a new practice facility.

And Jalen Waddle snagged the one-handed catch. Should we read into the vibes of these buildings right now? Or how do you kind of describe what's going on in these different places? More specifically, New Orleans in Tampa Bay. I think there's always something to the vibes that are going on around a team. In New Orleans, I think there have been great vibes around that team all through the offseason. I think they're on the way back. I think anybody that watched Tyler Shuck last year recognized right away that he looks like a big hit for them.

He looks like they got it exactly right. And when you watch that guy play in the second half last year, he looked like he's going to be a big time quarterback to me. And if that is indeed the case, then yeah. I think the Saints absolutely can win that division. I think I expect them to make a playoff run this year. And I think there'll be a dangerous team, and especially if you look at their schedule. It's not overly daunting.

The team is really good. And the quarterback, that's everything. They hit on that pick it looks like. It looks like. We'll still see. It is early. When you watched him play last year, he looked like he belonged.

And if that's the case, then they're going to be a good team for years to come. I concur. And then you look over at Tampa Bay. fuel is all negative. And if you just continue to dissect both of these, it's like, are they in a new era, Tampa Bay trying to get to it right now? Are they trying to get to a new era, potentially, move on from Mike Evans, Vita Veya once out, Baker Mayfield's not happy, David retires, they're dealing with all that right now. And then the Saints, they're in a new era. And Kellan Moore,

you know, think about what the Eagles complaints were last year. Everything about the Eagles last year was like this offense stinks. Jaylon stinks. AJ's mad. Offense coordinator, it's like, well, Kelly Moe left, you know, and nobody's, you know, nobody's. really talking about how much Kelly or Kellan meant to Philadelphia. And then we see what we're saying right now for the Saints. It's like maybe Kellyn does kind of have a little bit of some shit to him and leadership. And obviously being able to run a team, I'm pumped for them because that fan base. Yes.

Psychos. Yes. Great. Yeah. We need them to be back in the fold in a big way. And they had just kind of been at the bottom of the map just like for a while. Them coming back. Good news.

Congrats to Chris. Okay. Let's talk about some other news and things that are happening. Go ahead, Ty. Chefty, Debo Samuel is going back to the 49ers. Is Ricky Pearsall, it kind of sounds like he might be done for the year. Another just bad string of luck for them. But was this kind of always in the cards?

Do you think Debo was kind of just waiting for maybe something like this? And are the 49ers exploring anything else? Are they pretty comfortable with him? And now that Deshaun's stripling looks like he's making a big impact in camp so far. Well, the truth of matter is Devo have been talking to the 49ers. all along, and the 49ers had told him that they were interested in bringing him back to San Francisco for weeks. There were actual conversations that occurred between Kyle Shanahan and Debo Samuel, and I think Debo, obviously, was looking to see what kind of deal he could land in the open market.

And when those deals that he's looking for don't materialize, and those conversations with San Francisco continue on, and all of a sudden there are questions about Ricky Pearsall, who, by the way, right now, is continuing to meet with doctors. He's got another meeting plan for Monday right now with another doctor. But he's going through his meetings with doctors. And there are absolute questions about, you know, if and when he'll be able to play this season that have to be answered still by the doctors. The Niners have been talking to Debo. No other offers had materialized meaningful offers. And so in the end, we've seen what San Francisco can do with Debo, how the 49ers utilize him. he's dangerous in their offense

and I would imagine it'll be a factor again this year. It worked out really for both sides. That's really where he should be playing and they're fortunate that nobody else stepped up and signed him and they were there for each other when the 49ers needed to add another receiver last night. It sounded like your washer dryer

or microwave potentially was sitting in sky full of stars in the back there. Happy you're getting some fresh linens potentially. Here's a Hempbo stat that says the slant god going back to Brock Purdy could be a good thing. 2023, 2024, 5.8 yards after catch per completion. Fourth highest in the NFL, we know Debo is filled with a lot of that.

2025, lowest in the NFL. So, you know, maybe a little bit after catch could come back with Debo coming back to the Niners, understands the culture. We'll certainly buy into the, hey, we're rallying around Shanahan. We're doing this entire thing, especially after the car accident and how scary, crazy, that all seemingly was and rollout of. So I like Debo's back. I love Debo going back there.

Yeah, with Trent. He's one of the mascots. Yes. Yeah. That's right. Yeah, Debo. It was one of the mascots. Yeah, he was. Was it? Trent, too. Are we going to say that? Is that how this is going to go?

By definition, he is one of the mascots as well. What a goofball. That guy keeps getting microphones. I have no idea how it's possible. Let's continue to move forward around NFL stories. Go ahead, AJ. Yeah, Shepty. Obviously, in Cleveland, we're seeing all the,

they're posting the stats between Deshaun Washington and Shador. I guess, what is your hunch on what their opening day starting situation looks like in the quarterback position? Well, that's when you know there's a quarterback competition. When every beat rider is charting every throw in their posting the stats and the attempts and completions from each practice, touchdowns, interceptions,

I don't have a guess for you right now, Asia, because I think there's going to be a lot that plays out this summer. I think it's between Deshawn Watson and Shador Sanders. It's hard to imagine that Sean Watson is even in this point. Nobody would have thought he would have been competing for a starting job at this stage

in his career with everything that's gone on there. And Shador Sanders has looked better and better and look more and more comfortable. And they're going to let these two guys duke it out this summer playing the preseason. We'll see which guy rises up. I think it's anybody's job right now. Oh, come to Sean Watson has to look over there

and see his competition's dead on the field. Now, obviously, the Internet's going to have the reactions that the Internet has. But I think if you were to ask any NFL coach if Dion Sanders would be welcome at their practice, first ballot Hall of Famer, one of the greatest athletes and football players to ever play. I think every coach would say,

yeah, I think we'd let, and guess what? When Peyton Manning's son is potentially going into a team, I assume Peyton's going to be welcome at a lot of training camps as well and allowed to walk on the field. I assume same thing with like a Ray Lewis. Yeah, character. I think people have forgotten because Colorado has kind of become

ass over the last year or so. I think a lot of people have forgotten who the hell Dion Sanders is. Like I think people see him as potentially coach of Colorado and maybe down there at Jackson's or whatever the case is. This is one of the greatest football players that has ever existed in every league that he's ever played in. So everybody that is a round ball holds prime in a different category. So if he wants to come to train, hell, if he wanted to go to Pittsburgh Steelers training camp with his son competing for quarterback with the Browns, Mike McCarthy would be like, certainly let the other. We're not going to give more fucking play sheet.

But we're going to have them in here. I think it is fascinating, though, the immediate response to Prime being there. And because his son is competing for the job that there's negative that comes from it. It's like, you know what? I hate to break it to you. Dion's going to be welcome at any training camp. Go ahead. That's also people that don't know Prime.

Prime is positivity. Prime is inspirational. Prime is motivational. You want that guy around every team. He knows how to lift up people. To me, zero issue. I think he should be there more than he is. Well, he's also got a team, you know, that he's got a coach here coming up.

But he's got to be, what, nine toes down now? Yeah. He's got to be nine toes down for Colorado, but also his son, also the NFL and football as a whole. I love that he made an appearance here and watched him there. I'm like, can we got to get him a cart? You know, we got him walking pretty far. Can we get this guy a damn golf cart? That might have been too much.

That might have been a little bit too much. AJ, the question around the bronze is who's the quarterback. What if they figure it out, though? They're paying on the defensive side. What if the Browns go on a run, AJ? There's a chance that's going to happen. Let's stay in Ohio. Shefti, Cincinnati's just fighting each other.

They're just fighting over there. Have you gotten any word out of Cincinnati Bengals camp about a new edge maybe coming from the defensive side? AJ pointed something out yesterday. He's like, you know what? The Bengals have started slow, what, the last five seasons basically since Joe? So first day, them getting into it a little bit. What are you hearing from CINCY?

And is sexy Dexy's presence, literally this big of a game changer for that defense aside, which it feels like has a lot more energy and buzz than they've had over the years? They have made some impressive moves on the defensive side of the football. They knew how bad the defense was. They went out and addressed it. Dexter Lawrence was the big acquisition. There he was in this particular clip where he told Joe Burrow, I want to see it today.

And Joe Burrough said, I'm going to bring it every day, baby. And I think that Dexter Lawrence brings a certain element of talent and leadership to that lineup. they added other players. They know how important this year is. And I view the Bengals the same way that I view the Saints. As a team that last year didn't have the season go the way they wanted, that this year has a real chance to make a real run, that has a favorable schedule,

that has the talent in place that people aren't expecting. Look, if we go back and look, there have been at least four new teams, at least four, that have made the NFL playoffs every single year for the last 36 seasons. It's not accidental that we get new playoff teams every year. And I won't be surprised when we're talking in December and January if we're talking about whether the Saints and Bengals can lock up their playoff spots. I view them both in a similar light.

Oh, he's got them on a tier. He does. Coming hard. Yeah, that's right. These two are coming real hard. We're talking coming and not stopping coming. We're talking about fire hose coming. We're talking coming on the way.

Do you hear that, AJ? That's what Chef are saying about the Cincinnati Bengals and the New Orleans Saints. I didn't know Chefty was as high on the Browns and the Saints coming hard. I guess the Bengals. He was going pretty hard on it all. He's going real hard. He's going real hard on the Bengals and the Saints. He said they're coming all 17 games, all 18.

weeks. Coming once, coming twice. Making a three come shot. Come a coming thing. Yeah. That's right. They're coming. The Bengals coming. Boom. Put on a shirt. Saints coming. Yep. She said four teams that didn't make the playoffs will make the playoffs this year.

That's kind of how it is. At least. At least. They're all coming maybe. You know, maybe all of the teams that did. Who's not coming then? Someone's got to be, you know, sputtering. Then four teams got to be sputtering out there, not coming. Well, four teams that made the playoffs last year got to blew their luck. They have no chance to come again. No.

And that's kind of the parody of the NFL is just everybody's potentially coming until it's kind of come out. Yeah. It drives up. Speaking of, there's a big time competition happening over there in Minnesota. Now, J.J. McCarthy, the incumbent, I believe,

even though he's been injured, understands the offense, Michigan man. From our understanding, he's having a good couple days of camp. Tyler Murray, obviously brought him from Arizona. Die hard, Vikings fan as a child. Is this a way to salvage his career like a lot of quarterbacks who have gotten second chances at different places? Tone has a question for you. Yes, Jeffrey, the Vikings are another team that the season did not go the way they wanted to last year who could be coming into the playoffs this season.

Now, if they get the quarterback position right, I'd notice on the Vikings social media that there's no, they haven't put out any videos of their quarterback competition, anyone making any throws yet. So we've got to rely on insiders like you to tell us what you are hearing from Minnesota on potentially how those two players, those two quarterbacks are low. looking so far? They've been pretty adamant that both quarterbacks are going to duel for the job all through camp. I think both have had their moments in camp so far. And I think most people think that Kyler is going to be the favorite for the job. He handpicked Minnesota. Minnesota was interested in him and he could become the latest quarterback to become this year's version of Sam Darnold, Daniel Jones, Baker Mayfield, some of the quarterbacks that have bounced around. I just think it's way too early to write off J.J. McCarthy just yet. And I'm not just saying that because I went to

Michigan. He went to Michigan. He's played 10 NFL games. He's had injuries. He essentially has played with an offensive line that always hasn't been great. The team struggled the last couple of years. He's still growing and learning. If we go back and look and compare his numbers to some of the great young quarterbacks early on in their career, like a Matthew Stafford, like a Josh Allen, there were growing people. and bumps for a lot of these quarterbacks. And that may be the case for JJ McCarthy. My point is we still haven't heard the final word on him yet.

And the Vikings are going to let this play out all summer long. Again, I understand all the excitement and enthusiasm about Kyler Murray. It's warranted. He has a chance to thrive in that offense. But I just think people have been a little bit too quick to write off J.J. McCarthy so far. Yeah, because Kyler is potentially a sky full of stars in Kevin O'Connell. offense. That's kind of what we think about the entirety. But then live in Lovita Loka

is what J.J. McCarthy is kind of all about. Yeah, exactly. You know, so it's a cold world, but both of them are going to have to play at some point. And whenever you talk about J.J. McCarthy, maybe fine in his second gear, and we talk about Kyler becoming the next, you know, Baker, Sam, Darnold, Kirk Cousins, even. I think you can go on and on about all the different quarterbacks that have hit their second. I mean, JJ might do that. I feel like we've already been through a chapter of J.J. McCarthy and everybody said he's a bust, he's fragile, and he's not good. He might even get his opportunity to showcase who he actually is through this all. But it's hard not to get excited about Kyler Murray and Kevin O'Connell's offense.

It's really hard not to get excited about that. And it's really hard not to just judge JJ for what he has, which is 10 games, because we're just taking the good from Kyler's previous career at Arizona. There's a lot of bad, too, you know? So it's just like, it's an interesting situation that they're going to have to deal with over there. General manager already been fired who utilized the pick for J.J. McCarthy. So what does that mean whenever comes to loyalty? That also plays into it all. And then everything Schaefter's saying, talking about loyalty, Schefter's golfing with J.J. McCarthy every other week at these Michigan events. That's true. You know, so I think he has a lot. I think he knows J.J.

better than all of us. So I think that is why he's continuing to be like, hey, JJ's a competitor. J.J. wants this. J.J.'s a talent. Look what he did everywhere. It's like, I don't think anybody has a clue who's going to actually. win that role, even though a lot of people, including Teehan, who has obviously been in the building, say, like, Kyle, there's definitely the guy. It's like, well, hold the phone, bro. Not so fast, my friend. Unfortunately, I think, because Shifty talked about, you know, the bumps as a young quarterback that happens to everyone. If it wasn't for the nine thing and the meme, the public perception, would it be a lot different on JJ in this quarterback race? I feel like that, for some reason,

the nine thing and the meme really, really changed the public perception on Jay. Also, not that it should have. draft class he was in. Like Caleb did what he did last year. Bo Nix led a team to an AFC championship. Jaden went to an NFC championship. Like, all the guys around him have been super successful and he looked like hammered dog shit all last year. I go back to the combine this year

and being around some people in the Bill's organization and the one thing that they said to me at that time which I remember since then was that we need to get some guys in here that are kind of bad guys like bad boys like we need some attitude bad boys bad boys

what you go that are going to get down and dirty and so you're going to see us take some chances on guys this offseason that might bounce around that basically are polarizing type figures. And I think CJ, CJ, GJ, that fits right into that category. And if you go and look at some of the guys they dread it, it fits right into that category.

They've been, this has been a very nice team. They've been very well behaved. They've been out there playing hard. Like, you need some guys, some rabble rousers, right? They're going to go out there and, and, much. it up and bring attitude and piss off people. And I think C.J. G.J. is one of those guys for this team. And that's exactly what they were looking for during the offseason.

He hasn't had this type of lower back muscle issue before, but he's already been going through individual drills.

Atlanta obviously would be without Michael Pennix for the next month. They have Tua working back in slowly, and Bijon Robinson is still not practicing because he's a holding. So there's some issues with some of those NFC South teams, although New Orleans did lose Brian Bressieb the other day, their defense attacks. So every one of these teams in the NFC South has had some sort of issue here this summer pat. And you didn't mention Tony Rombo today.

Okay, so you've heard from somebody within the Bucs organization since this entire thing. How does that end up playing out? How does that whole thing end up working out here? Because Baker said he won't negotiate. And A.J. and I hypothesized yesterday, if they were to put a $50 million a three-year deal in front of his face right now,

would he sign that? I wonder if he would sign. They already were offering over $50 million a year. That's not what he said. That's all the bankers said. Two years, wasn't it? They already,

if you go back in the look in Jeremy Fowler's story last night, hold on. Hold on. Okay, so Schaeffers got a good plug in the Buccaneers organization right now. No, no, I'm just telling you. No, no, but we need to know, we need to understand that as we do this, like we are about to get a lot of good information from the Buccaneers organization right now. Everybody needs to, let's strap in right here. Let's figure out how this is going to go.

this is a big story. Franchise quarterback. Jeremy Fowler last night reported that Buccaneers felt their offers in the final days of the negotiation were competitive, including a two-year deal worth slightly above $100 million in total.

Guaranteed 15? I don't know what the guarantees were. No, no, I know, I know. But the offer was over $50 million a year in average. And I think the Buccaneers, that's their side, which is fair. And I think Baker's side is fair two years.

Like if you're the franchise guy, you deserve more than two years. So that's part of the issue. Like, Baker's got a point on the years. I think the value is a little bit more than was led on. The Buccaneers have made an offer over $50 million per year. And Baker says it's shut down. It's shut down.

And he's not going to talk. Now, they can still franchise him at $47 million this offseason, which would be less than the 50. And then 57 the next year. So essentially they have them for the next two years for $105 million with the franchise tag. Okay. So, and he said they don't want to do that because there's a lot of dead cap too. He addressed that because obviously that was spoken.

No, no, no, no. They're not going to just let him get to free agency. I mean, we'll see how it plays out. But they have the franchise tag available. Yeah, but Baker said they don't want a franchise tag me. It's a lot of money. And there's also a lot of dead cap that comes alongside that. I don't know what he meant by that.

But I'm just saying he addressed that, the franchise tag in the entire thing, which I assume was a part of potential negotiations between buccaneers and his people. Can you go back to what the previous thing we had up here? It had his, yeah, this one here. Okay, so his current annual average of 33.3 million is obviously... Below market. We all agree. Okay, thank you.

Yes, I agree. But also great for Baker, whenever the stage Baker was in whenever he was there. And he acknowledged it. Thank you to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for making this happen. But if they offer them a three-year, let's say it's a $150-something million deal, With over whatever, let's bump that up to 35. 35 times three is 105. 95.

105. 105. So in 105 is what they're going to owe them anyways if they do two franchise tax. So can't you just give them a three-year, 150-some million with $105 million guaranteed? And then hopefully that would be, that would kind of be out the door. Or do we think he wants like a five-year deal? It doesn't matter right now because he's adamant that he shut it down, that he's not going to do it in season. And he himself said, like, they didn't believe that I would shut it down, but I did. I said it had to be done by the starter camp or I'm not doing it, and he's not doing it. And I would say, I would promise you that if and when they reopen talks, if there's not a deal done ahead of free agency,

I promise you, little franchising. I promise you that's going to happen. Dead cap, whatever issues, he's going to get tagged. so that that's also coming if they can't get a deal worked out. Oh, yes. We got Tramma down there. And this might honestly, you would automatically assume this would be bad for a franchise.

Baker Mayfield, a little bit of heat in there. Yeah. Yeah, this might actually be good. Now, he's an adult. Obviously, he's a different stage of his life now. He's a dad. He's a husband.

He said he had to talk to some of the free agents that come in and let him know, like, hey, this is how I am. You might have a perception of me that is different than who I am. But if he's all in on ball and then also thinking that he's discharming, respected by the own building that he's in. And the building has a little bit of sauce with him as well. Is that right? You're going to be doing that?

This might be a good thing for Baker Mayfield and Baker Mayfield alone. Every other quarterback, this would be a devastating type situation. For Baker, I think he lives in the kitchen if he has to. You've got the Dodgers who aren't just dominant on the field, but dominant in terms of the money that they're spending and for them to go out and get the best pitcher in the world and add him to a rotation that frankly doesn't need him at this point. just feels like a little too much, especially when you look, Pat, at the other teams that are in the Tarex scuba sweepstakes at this point.

The Milwaukee Brewers, who you see their second favorite behind the Dodgers, the Brewers have an incredible farm system. They have the ability to do this, and they've done it in the past in 2008, when they went out and got C.C. Sabathia, and he had an amazing second half of the season for them. It would be incredible to see,

Jacob Mizorowski and Terrick Scoobel in the same rotation. Reminiscent, if you will, of 2001 when Randy Johnson and Kurt Schilling were out there leading the Arizona Diamondbacks to a World Series Championship. So this is going to be a fascinating next like 96 hours or so before the deadline. And there's a lot of stuff still left to happen with Terik Scouble. It was kind of, it's kind of all reminiscent to what C.C. Sabathia did. It kind of took me back to that when he was with Cleveland and then the brewers rented him and then inevitably he gets hot. He's pitching every other day. He's dominant down the stretch.

And then he ends up with the Yankees, right? Is that kind of why we're thinking some of these smaller market teams might actually be in the scuba runnings because it's just a half a season rental basically before he gets paid somewhere else? Here's the thing, though, Pat. Generally speaking, those smaller market teams don't do big ticket rentals. Like, this is antithetical to their process. The reason that the Rays are where they are, that the Brewers are where they are,

is because they keep their prospects and they bring them up and they have control of them for multiple years. So Matt Arnold, the Rays president of baseball operations, Eric Neander, the, excuse me, Matt Arnold's with the Brewers and Eric Neander's with the Rays. This is a position that they're not used to being in. And why everybody in the industry believes that Scouble will wind up with the Dodgers is the penalty for a trade like. this. The penalty for the Dodgers is so much less because let's say that they trade away really good players and that scoble doesn't work out and they don't win. The Dodgers are still making a billion dollars a year and the Dodgers still have an absolutely loaded farm system.

Whereas if you're the Rays and the Brewers, your lifeblood is those young, under control, cheap players. And if you're giving them away for a guy who you're going to have for only two months, he better work. Like, this better be the sort of thing that winds up with gold on your finger or otherwise you've done yourself in your franchise a long-term disservice. Well, good luck to all parties involved and good luck to baseball. You know, I hope baseball gets the outcome that it needs here. You talk about the Dodgers and if they win, everybody's going to be pissed.

the same but they know they they need a catcher um they they could you know they they keep getting tied to louisa rise i'm not sure where the fit is there because he wants to play second base He's insisting on playing second base, and we've seen Jazz Chisholm at third, and it's probably not going to work. And yet the DH slot could be open for a rise right now. The Yankees are going to be busy. The Rays are, you know, they have lines out everywhere. In addition to Scuba, you know, they're in with Freddie Peralta. They're looking for another starting pitcher.

They're in on a rise. They're looking for a bat. They're looking for outfielders. like the rays understand this is such a great opportunity for them because the AL is down and there aren't many years like this where Tampa Bay is at the top and the dominant team so I think they're going to be busy I think the Red Sox are certainly going to continue to be the Chicago White Sox have a lot of irons in the fire at this point and the Texas Rangers if they can get some money they're going to they're going to be a player here too I like that the white Sox are cooking they got moon

Can Mason Miller still be dealter? The Padre's recent success, are they not going to be selling anymore? So when Mason Miller's name was hottest, it was before teams understood what the ask was. And AJ, Prelor, the president of baseball operations for the Padres, is very clear at the beginning.

of any deal about what he wants. Like he will communicate openly, and in this case, when he was talking with interested parties, he said to them, nobody in your organization can be off limits. And so when you say something like that, to the Mariners, for example, that means that Kate Anderson is in play.

Kate Anderson's the best pitching prospect in the minor leagues right now. Do they really want to give him up for a closer? I mean, that was the kind of deal that the Padres made last year, getting Mason Miller and doing, giving up Leo DeVries, one of the best prospects in the whole game. And the industry looked at that like, wow, that for a closer?

Is that really the right thing to do? So what the Padres have right now, value-wise on Mason Miller does not line up with what the rest of the industry sees. But we're still a few days away from the deadline guys. And you know that prices go down. And if the Padres feel like they need to get more rotation pieces or they need to get another bat, Mason Miller and Audrey and Morehon are going to bring back. the most and would be if either is dealt the best relief pitcher on the market right now.

I don't know if you saw a lot of microphones being used in Chicago at Big Ten Media Days. Big Ten Media Day is fun. I know one coach kind of stole the shine and kind of has the most quotable situations going on. I tell you what, I'm on board for it as well.

Are you talking about the national champion? Are you talking about the guy who kicked off the new NCAA game? Are you talking about the man who has been compared to the greatest coaches and the greatest leaders of all time because of what he's been able to do at Indiana University in Bloomington for football? Is that who you're talking about AJ? I am talking about Coach Signetti, yes. A lot of people heard this quote about the SEC from Coach Sig yesterday where he's saying,

Let me just explain to you why we are the best actually versus the people maybe in a different place. The Big Ten is the best league in football and a lot of really good football teams. It's hard to win on the road, very physical football teams, very well coached. It definitely prepares you for the playoffs. There's no doubt about it. The numbers speak for themselves. I mean, we don't run a hype machine up here in the Midwest. we believe everything's earned not given.

And when we fall short, we say we fell short. We don't cry, a river, whine, and complain. All right, and that's why we're the best. Coach Ignetti, thank you so much for your time. Thank you. And that's why we're the best. Looks at the camera. All right.

Coach Nguyen, okay. Just take that one to the bank. Didn't just talk about the SEC and the Big Ten. Also, chat about what life has been like on vacation the last few weeks at home with Mrs. Signetti. So I'm really excited. I've been on vacation long enough. You know, I'm tired being bossed around by my wife. I'm really boss somebody else around and develop a football team. And it's all about development. Okay, player development, team development, positional development, and developing the intangibles, the mindset, and the identity of your football team.

We'll dive into all these a little bit more because the amount of things he's saying that actually matter versus funny clips are certainly kind of tied together there. Because, you know, a lot of people are saying this new NIL era and the transfer era, there's not no development. You can't develop anymore. And SIG's like, no, you've got a smaller timeline now. Okay, now we've got to develop this as soon as possible. We've got to get into this. And it's nice for me to go boss some things around. And, you know, all these quotes could potentially become the next Signetti quote.

but never forget the first signetie quote, which was reminded to him by one of the media members about maybe putting a patch on that new IU jersey. There's a lot of talk about sponsorship patches, so I wanted to pitch to you, since you don't have a ton of time. I want to get your thoughts on this patch for Indiana football, which is a Google logo and the word me. Is it going to make us better? But it might get you more interesting. Might get you more money. Well, that guy had an opportunity there to say, yeah, Google's not to pay a lot of money. You might be able to get yourself a new roster.

Well, I certainly listen. I think he would certainly do that. But I like that Sig knows, and I think Sig does, every time he's on a microphone, he is must watch. And I don't think he's trying to live up to his own hype, and I don't think he's trying to be like that. I think this just comes natural to him. And I've never seen somebody more comfortable and confident being a head coach of a national champion football team than Signetti. And he got his starting job late, obviously. We all understand his story where he was an assistant in Alabama.

If he would have waited around, maybe he would have got a big time job. Instead, he wanted to be a head coach. Goes to IUP. That's Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Okay, that is about an hour and a half outside of the city. We actually played against them one time in football. Indiana, we went up to that area. We had gone to IUP a couple times as high schoolers because that school is known for

boozing. having fun. And STDs. I didn't say that. Really? That's tone digs. My brother went there. I could say that.

Okay. Mikey dogs. That was, but also, I mean, that was, I mean, that was, uh, I think there was a lot of schools, potentially that were smaller schools. Yeah, the whole piece, yeah. Yeah, there was a lot of schools that were allegedly about. They were spread it all over those schools, really? I think that was just like kind of what was said about each school by the other school,

and then inevitably it just became like. All the PA state schools, yeah. Yeah. So we're like 16 years old. You know, we have a nice weekend. We're going to visit somebody that we know that's in school somewhere. No matter what. small school it was that was within driving distance for us.

Everybody said, hey, watch out up there. They got nothing, but SDD's up there. So I think that's kind of how every school just kind of tried to demean the other ones. And I don't know if it was real or not, but I was worried and I was appreciative of everybody that gave me a heads up. But Signetti was coaching him. He was coaching IUP.

After coaching at Alabama, he was coaching IUP. Then obviously the James Madison story goes absolutely crazy. We have Game Day at James Madison, our show at James Madison. And this guy, who his dad coached at West Virginia, he played at West Virginia, is from Pittsburgh originally, obviously a Pison who loves ball, gets on a mic in front of 30,000 people and go, do we like the NCAA?

And they go, no. And I'm like, holy hell, this guy has got gut sack, okay? Then our show, based here in Indianapolis, he gets hired to be the IU football coach, and we go, SIG. Go back to IUP. Yeah. Don't go to IU. Like, what are you doing here?

and he had nothing but faith since day one that him and his guys could figure it out and they have. He's talked his shit. He's earned his place. He's remained the exact same. And his team loves him. I mean, his teams absolutely love him. And I thought there's no way they'll be able to run it back.

College football is way too hard. Okay, it's way too hard. You have to have so many things go right. They got new pieces that they've just brought into their culture that are going to have to have huge games if they're able to do it. Then I listen to them on a microphone once or twice. And I'm like, you know what? Indiana is about to win the next 10 straight national champions

and that's how a SIG makes you feel, AJ. It's legit. That's never come from the Indiana University Hoosiers ever from a football perspective, AJ. Yeah, I think he got this Indiana job at just a perfect time in his career. He was clearly very ready to run a program like this. The speed that he was able to get them to become national contenders is unbelievable. I mean, I don't know if we've seen that before. The fact that they were going to go 16, no, do everything they did last year, tested over and over again and continue to answer the bell.

I mean, he feels like you said before, very, very comfortable in its own skin. And he seems like he has this formula, whatever he has, like his leadership, how it goes. Like he has it dialed in and he has all the right pieces around him. And I also credit to the Indiana, the people that do the hiring there for bringing Sig in to hire him. It has changed the course of this institution forever, I believe. So I give them a lot of credit. President Pam Whitten and athletic director, I should know your name.

You've been very good to us. I do apologize. But I got a chance to talk to the president in SIG's first year there. And she was at Georgia before being at IU. And she very much understands what sports can do for your university. And she was one of the main drivers of let's get a real coach here. Let's actually, let's go, let's actually try to build this. And then obviously there are money people around the state in the state, in literally city of Bloomington.

I believe there's a company called Cook or something like that. OOK, I think. They're a medical sales maybe company. They have been a massive contributor to what they are doing in all sports, certainly in football. Obviously, there's the Mark Cubans who have also contributed in this entire thing. But then they also have the largest alumni in America. They have the most alive alumni in America. And they have a great business school. They have a dentist school.

They have schools that produce people who make, you know, not everybody's going to be. a millionaire, but if you're making $750,000, $800,000 a year, and you give $50,000, $75,000, and there's $880,000 of those people out there, which I think is the number of alumni that they have. It's like, it's crazy what real teamwork can happen in an alumni perspective for a team that really didn't exist. Now they got their own facility. They're building up the stadium. They got all this. And it was like, that wasn't like that four years ago. So the modern era is crucified for a lot of things. The modern era birthed a football university in Bloomington. And Signetti was the godfather of it all down there. And that's why whenever he could have left, he could have, he stayed.

I think he knows what's happening in Bloomington. I think he understands what's possible. And he will have a statue down there. And I think he wants Indiana to be forever, not just with him being the head coach. That man can say anything he wants. All those reasons that you laid out, he won a national championship and went undefeated Indiana University in the second year. And it's arguably transitioned to the new NIL era better than any other coach in the in the country. But boy, we talk about how great rivalries are for college football. He and what's been going on the last three years between the Big Ten and the SEC and what he did yesterday, it's just staring an absolute hornet's nest in the south.

And everyone, like, during the first video, it had like Purdue as one of their prime matchups. And there was like, the SEC was like, okay, that says enough Purdue is one of their prime matchups and then, you know, the Big Ten came back and said Purdue scored the same amount of points as Alabama did against IU last year. The whole Big Ten SEC rivalry that's going on right now is awesome. I am here for it. I love Sig. I will side with him for now. But like just the SEC having that having that this team goes. We'll see how this year goes. But the SEC is having the dominance forever and now the Big Ten and now them just being, they can't handle it. The SEC can't handle it. And I'm here. I love it. I've eaten it up right now. Yeah, it's good for sport, obviously. It'll be

good for the emotion. It's also a lot of pressure on the South. You know, a lot of, not only winning the SEC, be dominant SEC, but their fans are used to full dominance. So I think it's good. I think anytime there's pressure, anytime there's motivation, anytime there's competition, is good for all parties. And

the Big Ten certainly has a lot of reason to be very comfortable in their king spot. Three different Big Ten teams have won a national championship in the last three years. So whenever the SEC says, well, the depth or whatever, it's like, we got three national champions in this. just in the last three years, let alone if Oregon goes.

Yeah, that would be. Okay, so if Oregon goes, not that any of these other Big Ten schools want that to happen. Okay, obviously, Indiana would like to win every single year going forward. But it's like if Oregon goes on a run and then next year SEC goes, yeah, but you guys don't have the depth. It's like we got four national champions are in this. It's a. It's not just Bama or Georgia. Not that they're the only.

They need it down there, though. Oh, yeah. Like the SEC needs one this year because it's only going to continue. continue to get out. Texas gets it. Let's say Texas wins. They're a Big 12th team. Yeah, exactly.

That'll happen immediately. That's the truth. You know, I mean, you hate to say it. And it's not just coming from a guy who went to a Big Ten school. Iowa stuff all in front of you. Exactly. And, you know, I mean, I won't pat myself on the back, but Iowa got beat by Oregon and Indiana by a combined total of I think. It was like five points maybe.

So, you know, they win those games. Maybe they get in the playoff as well. Maybe deserve to be in the playoff. Sig even said it himself yesterday. He said, Iowa. They were the most unrighted football team in the country last year. So, you know, I mean, it's coming from the godfather himself. But I think a lot of people I saw, too, were just saying, like, you know, it's the NIL portion.

And that because of Cuban, that's why Indiana's gotten so good. This guy is the best developer of talent in the country. He took a bunch of guys from JMU brought him into the Big Ten, and they won a national championship. And even like Fernando Mendoza, it's not like he was a schlub when he was at Cal. but when he transferred to Indiana, no one was pointing at that and being like, oh, okay, Indiana went to the playoff last year. Now they have Fernando Mendoza.

They're going to go win the national. They were like 25 or 24 coming into the season? Exactly. There's a lot of other schools picking other quarterbacks over Fernando. Correct. Like there was many other big schools that we know. I'm not going to put them on blast, but there's a lot of big schools that were thinking Fernando or somebody else

and decided somebody else. So, you know, SIG just gets all the best players now. And now he's starting. to. And that's what should be scary for everybody. Munch on sale. Yeah, exactly. Preseason number 20 last year. It's all about

development. We're talking about the team. We're talking about the culture. We're talking about the players. We're talking about the coaches. That's what I want to worry about development. The SEC, though, see stuff like this, though, and they go, uh, I don't think so. Go for fans. It is time to row the boat.

Hell yeah. Hell yeah. Well, Minnesota sucks. So I I get if they would do that. I mean, But he's a snake oil salesman. You're not taking anything serious about that, unless you live in Minnesota. I think Brian Kelly was doing that shit, too, down in LSU. That's a good point.

Yeah, but we got to remember, I like PJ. I think PJ has the Jews. He's done really well at that program. PJ got him a new facility, got him a lot of stuff off this. They did a nice facility. They have a beautiful facility. When he was at Eastern Michigan. Western.

When he was at Western Michigan, he made one of those videos as well about a new third down. You remember that? Oh, yeah. He wanted them to get you remember they wanted to do throw down, bang, bang, bang. Yeah. PJ is one of those innovators. He's an innovator. He's an innovative guy.

It's kind of just been lost in Minnesota for a while, though. Yeah? What if Minnesota goes on a national championship championship championship this year? You don't know. What kind of support do they have? Do we know what kind of financial support they have? It's probably middle, middle of the road.

PJ is a good salesman, I will say. You know, we almost play in Minnesota whenever we were there. We had a great time of there. We thought about getting into the boat. Yeah, at the beginning, he said, Ohio State, he did all that. He called his shot. He's not doing whatever happy bullshit that is. Okay, that's an Iowa fan. I saw a Kirby. I think Kirby was doing that last week, too. Was he?

I don't think he was. Okay, well, that's my. Ryan Kelly was the famous with the rotating, you know, the, yeah. Yeah, that was neat. Yeah, a whole new voice. Okay. You remember he did that? Oh, yeah.

Now, on that note, we would like to wish good luck to PJ and Minnesota and the Big Ten and to the SEC. Let's pivot to the NFL.

Tampa Bay's not happy. with Beck? Bates not happy with Tampa Bay. We referenced his press conference yesterday during our going camping. He also had a side interview with Jeremy Fowler. We also think we saw him with Pete Briscoe. I think we saw Pete Briscoe sit down interview. And in all of them, he was letting people know that he was not pumped about everything that had happened during negotiations. Now Schaefter's telling us that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have let the word out. We're not thrilled that he's doing this either. So this is, frankly. franchise quarterback, 31-year-old quarterback, has one for you, and we all kind of know what the

comps are and how much everybody should be paid at this stage. And they're not getting a deal done, and Baker's pissed. And they're pissed. What's going to happen, Shregs? And how does this end? How do you see this ending? And is this just going to be a tumultuous year that Baker's going to have to feed off the spite and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers going to feel the same way? How do you kind of see this working out, you think? You know, it's funny because I've interviewed Jason Light, the GM a thousand times. I know Greenie, not our Greenie, but Greenie and Tampa who runs the salary cap there. He's been there 20 years. And these guys, to a man, have never spoken about a player, a leader, or person like they talk about Baker Mayfield. This is maybe the most beloved player

in that building since Brady left, leader, everything, man about town, but also represents the right things, hangs out with the offensive lineman. And the hope was that this wouldn't be the way we start camp. I think everyone in Tampa is a little like, whoa, okay, but this is Baker to a tea. And if you know Baker Mayfield, it's question me, question me, challenge me. I'll bring it every time. And that's been the story since he was at Texas Tech and they brought on competition and he left and he walked on at Oklahoma and ended up winning a Heism. It's the same thing where, you know, Cleveland says, we're better off without you. and he's like, all right, I'll make this roundabout way

and I'll get back there. The question is $60 million. Is Baker Mayfield a $60 million quarterback? And in a lot of ways, you say, well, I don't know, but in this day and age, if you have Baker Mayfield, and he is the guy, and he is representative of that city and is so good for that organization

and has taken them the playoffs, pay him whatever it is, because in a year it's going to be $70 million or in two years it's going to be $75 million. The salary cap keeps going up. But there is a budget, a salary cap and a way that they have this pie. And I think the hope was that they would come to an agreement

and that this would be one of those where, okay, Baker, Baker nipped it right in the bud. First day of training camp, get me in front of the first microphone I can. And oh, Jeremy Fowler, ESPN, you want me to do the PR message points? No, I'm going to say exactly why I deserve that money and why I think so and it's years and it's time and it's average money. Gosh, as an independent person and a capitalist and all this stuff, you have to appreciate Baker Mayfield saying,

I want mine, and I'm going to use this moment of time, and you're going to give me the podium, and I'm going to do it. As a Buccaneers person, you're probably like, can't we do this behind closed doors? Does it have to go this way? Yeah, well, I found it to be great because he had the Buccaneers flag right over his head. I mean, it was literally right over his head.

Had their jersey on. Yeah, and it just sucks that this is how this fucking team offer. It was just, that's your quarterback, and that's Baker. But we did think they were kumbaya, though. Oh, yeah. Because just like you talked about, like, We talked to Jason Light as well, and obviously we had BA in here last year. He was very tight with the organization.

The way they view Baker was like a godsend. Like we are very lucky and thankful for Baker. And Baker heard all that as well. I think guidelines week 18 against the Panthers in that monsoon. Baker's playing with a messed up shoulder. Baker's playing with an ankle that's all messed up. He's getting the crap being up. Gets up in the rain every single time.

Just like you cannot ask for a bigger gladiator and guy who leaves it on the field like Baker Mayfield does. And in the fallout of all that all offseason, it's like we love that. This to me might even be more shocking than any other NFL news going on that Baker took the offensive. It was like, no, no, okay, let's, hey, you want to go?

We could be friends, but I'm also going to speak up when I think it's time. I find it fascinating. To your point, though, we like Jason Light. We trust him. We think he's going to do a good job, but like this is not great. Vita Vaya's come out. He wants a trade.

Baker's come out. He's not happy. It's like, that's a lot to deal with going into a football season where it's already hard enough to win. You know, it's already hard enough to win in the NFL. And then you look at the Saints, it's like the Saints are actually throwing a parade down there. I mean, they actually have a parade happening.

It's like the NFL will not wait for you to figure out your drama. The NFL is going to continue. Last question for me before the boys have theirs. Patrick Mahomes running his ass off at practice. They're running options, fake pitches. He's duking people out or deacon people out. He looks nimble. He looks fast.

Chiefs fans are wondering why he's running and getting a little negative about it. I just saw him double step on his left knee right there. I see him being very healthy. I love that they're doing this. I like that he looks this good this early. What is kind of the word out of camp that you're hearing not only about Mahomes, but the rest of that team, Shregs?

Yeah, that he's ahead of schedule and looks amazing. But how do you govern this during training camp? Because he is coming off the ACL. Historically, Patrick Mahomes has played in the second preseason game, does it at Arrowhead and plays the full first half and has a couple of great plays and gets the fans excited. I think it's going to be a really interesting decision.

Do you put him out there in the preseason this year? Do you let him even do that? Because it's just what he's always done, or do you gradually ease him into this and say, you know what, why don't we just do the practices? We don't need to put you against live bullets in a preseason game where someone might be wanting to make a point

and try to make a roster. They've never protected Mahomes in any way like that. They've always let him just be Mahomes. He's a, you know, a bird that's a caged bird, go free in the preseason. That's right. Whatever it, this year I wonder if they govern it a little bit and see, hey, maybe we don't need to see you in the preseason. Let's start week one and let's go there when you play Denver on Monday night.

AJ, you see the same thing as me, right? That first clip zoomed in. He does a double bounce on his knee. Could have got over, right there. Could have got over his toe. It's like the amount of strain that is on that knee and that double hop right there, immense would hurt so bad if he had any pain going on. And then afterwards, him skipping. There's no lame.

There's no lameness in that left knee. I mean, he is bopping around right there. It might be a little stiff because he has an entire brakes on it, but he's skipping. It feels great. And I think as soon as I see that, if I'm a teammate of his, or if I'm a fan or anybody, I'd be like, yes, he is very healthy for this particular time. because there wasn't that long ago that we saw a highlight of him rolling to his left and throwing where Dr. David Chow came and said, TBD on if he'll be, you know, week one or whatever. And then now you kind of see him skipping around. It's like, yeah, Mahomes is just like we thought he was.

Middle of that dance floor. I was going to ask. Up on that stage. You saw it. Yeah. It was very early just watching like, geez, all of the chiefs are here, doctors, coaches, everybody. And Patrick's going to town up there in front of everybody. At some point, somebody would say, hey,

you can't be like that. Just like the Malik neighbor softball thing, the amount of people that had to let him onto that field, I think you heard me and AJ say, he had to be let out there. Now, obviously it looks terrible, but he had to be let out there. On the Giants beat,

Ty actually has a question for you about all of that. Yeah, Shrags, I mean, a little bit of that. In terms of when you look at what they are doing, K.M. Scatibo, what, like, is he going to be their, go-to guy this year. We know their backup is very good. And we had Art Stapleton on yesterday who said,

listen, everyone likes Jackson Dart and they're excited about him, but the way Harbaugh is, like they want to be a run first offense. Do you think Scatibo, like everything's good with him? We saw, again, you know, I know you saw it, Fanatics Fest. He does the backflip. It doesn't look great. He's had

a bunch of stuff like that this offseason where he's kind of showed, hey, the leg is good. What do you expect out of him going forward this year. I was actually surprised the Giants didn't go big after just getting another running back in free agency just because they've built up every other spot of the roster and that one still might be a question mark. Scataboo was awesome in his limited time last year. Tyrone Tracy does things inside the numbers but also can be a pass catcher and of course you've got some of the veteran

guys that are still there. But there's going to be a big microscope on those two guys, Scataboo and Tracy because Harbaugh and Greg Roman and Matt Nagy to a point, those are running guys. They want to control the ball and they're going to use Dart in that way. But like you need to have a bell cow. I remember when Greg Roman was with the Ravens, it was Mark Ingram and then of course you had, Lamar and you had all these different running backs that were doing the job. And then yeah.

And then you go through all these different players that Nagy's had over the years. As much as they've been a passing offense in Kansas City, a lot of that was. was, hey, big game Dame Williams is in the backfield. And we've also got Clyde Edwards Hillare. Like, this doesn't strike me as a Jackson Dart, throw the ball 50 times a game team. So the running game is going to be massive. And it's got to be help will see. Some of the league neighbors are going to be pissed anyways.

I just thought about the Baltimore Ravens wide receivers coming out publicly and saying, why are you going to have dogs if you're never going to use them? And then, oh, no. Who was that old that? Who said? No, that was, I went to Arizona. Hollywood. Was it Hollywood?

Yeah. Deep threat, right? Was it Hollywood? Yeah, so is everything going to be okay with Malik Neighbors who, once again, you put him above Terry McLaren. I think that was last year at this time. And I still will. Which, by the way, every Giants person we have talked to has echoed your sentiment like, yeah, he is. If he can put it together, he will be.

Do we think Malik Neighbors is going to have another breakout year for the Giants, especially if they're going to have success? Or is this going to be something he's going to have to get used to of being Patrick record, Tracy, Scataboo, Big Motor Devin Singletary, Devon Singletary also there. So whenever you think about the run game versus having an ultra talent that you all have said is top four, top five in the NFL, the rest of the league, we haven't seen it much. You know, I think we haven't seen it much. We're excited about the opportunity because he looks like an absolute monster, of course,

and his highlights are outrageous. But how do you think that all works out? And how do you think Harbaugh is handling the entirety of this new? Giants franchise with a lot of expectations very quickly. Well, I think one of the reasons Harbaugh took the job was talents like Malik Neighbors. This cupboard was not bare, and Malik Neighbors has the opportunity to be a top five wide receiver in this league, if not better over the course of his career. Unbelievable talent, breakout game against the Colts that we're seeing here two years ago.

Of course, gets injured in unfortunate fashion, but the sky is the limit. And the fact that he's actually running routes and moving and with the team at Greenbriar is an amazing thing. And I believe that I would have no fears if I'm in fantasy football or if I'm a Giants fan and that just because they like to run the ball that neighbors isn't going to get his load of action too. If anything, I would expect him to be the focal point of the offense and then the running game to compliment him. I'll tell you what, good run games. Great for a deep thing. Yeah. Yeah, great for a deep thing. Load that box, baby. Yeah, you got Patrick Ricard, massive body. You got Scataboot. Massive buddy. You got Jackson Dart, massive body. You're going to

need humans down the box. Got likely also now. Which drafted Maui No one, moved him inside to guard. Yeah. It's like, are you guys in on Giants? It's such a funny. I'm in New York, and it's such a funny topic because all, anyone wants to talk about, and it could be anything from,

we're going to win 10 to 12 games to we're already too hyped and we're going to win six games. Where do you feel on it, Pat? I think Giants fans probably have a little bit of sense of being jaded, you know, with everything that has kind of happened through it all. I mean, the Macadoo years probably were a little bit difficult, especially coming out of everything that you had. And, you know, the Eli Manning kind of exit in how that whole thing ended, debacle, I would

say. And then obviously the hard knocks inside saying, Sequin ain't worth that, Mike, get them the hell out of here. And then, you know, obviously Seyquan going on to be the MVP. So I think, like, Giants fans probably have had a lot of examples and reasons to not believe. I think that's probably why some are still negative. I just like how positive Giants fans seemingly are.

I think Giants fans being this positive is pretty wild to kind of experience because I don't know what you're going off of and they're like well before injuries like when this guy wasn't hurt he was unbelievable when this guy wasn't hurt he was unbelievable now technically in theory we're all back together with a better coach we should be good and I'll tell you I'm a buyer I believe it I've been with Bruce a lot throughout this entire I believe they're going to be good I think because I respect John Harbaugh as well as like a winner do I think they're winning the Super Bowl no no I'm not doing that I think they're going to win the division you got them winning the NFC. I actually picked them to win the ECSV on Hammerton. Yeah. As did I. I'm not laughing. They were 18 to 1 last year this time. This year they're sitting there at 6 to 1.

So, I mean, you know, the sports books think it's a rosier picture as well. I think part of it, though, also is just that the Eagles and Cowboys are always going to be, you know, pretty good programs, good institutions. And it's always going to be a challenge for the New York Giants. And yeah, we've been in hell since we fired Tom Kaufman, basically. But yeah, it's as good a team, at least in the offseason, as good as a feeling as a Giants fan going into a year that I've had in a long time. So, Shrakes, I think you're hearing a Thunderdum that's certainly believers.

But if it's all ass, you know, I will certainly say, I can't believe I fell for this shit. First two games. What's that? First two games, Sunday night against the Cowboys. That's a litmus test. Let's see how this defense looks. And then they go to L.A. and they play the Rams on Monday Night Football,

two nationally televised game. And what I would say was the offseason of John Harbaugh being treated like the Pope or something in New York. You would think this guy is coming in. He's Phil Jackson with the 11 rings. It's amazing. It's like, oh, we got John Harbaugh,

so it's done. Like, we're good. They have to actually go win these football games now. I would add this when it comes to the Giants. Reese is very exciting. I don't know how they're going to use them. Abdul Carter had some moments last year. let's see if he's going to be good.

Tibadoe, like, you have all these guys in the front seven that are freaks that were top ten picks. If they can put it all together, and then the offense is better, yeah, they should be competitive. They should be talking about playoffs, not just talking about being over 500 team. Well, congratulations to the Giants, Favors.

Let's go get it this year. Over under seven and a half. It feels like sports books are like, let's do reality here. Okay, that's what they're saying. Let's talk about a team that's not being talked about, and

that would be the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Liam Cohen talked about it this week, that he's looking at all these websites and all he's seeing his pictures of Caleb Williams and nothing on the Jacksonville Jaguars. I saw that you talked to him this week, and you're talking about Travis Hunter, who looks very, very good. He looks like he's put on some really good weight. What are your thoughts on

the Jaguars, and what did you get from Liam Cohen when you talked to him this week? Liam's a master motivator, and he knows exactly what buttons to press and what to do. And when he showed up to camp this year, he had spent weeks building up to this point of how I'm going to express and communicate to our team, what we can be. And I think a lot of this, they're leaning into this, hey, we're the 30-second market. They don't want us to be the guys they're talking about in the Super Bowl. They don't want

to believe in us, but look how good we are and look how much we're ascending. Trevor Lawrence and him had an outstanding off-season. And then they have these four wide receivers, and I'm including Travis Hunter, who, by the way, they will be using it wide receiver and who ran, even though he had the injury, 23 miles per hour during practice the other day when they clocked him. But between Parker Washington, who everyone says is the first guy in, last guy to leave, the worker horse. You got Thomas Jr., of course. You've got Jacoby Myers, who's your possession guy. Now you got Travis Hunter as your wild car.

We don't know how they're going to use them. Four great wide receivers, a great offensive coach, a number one overall pick, and a defense that had to say goodbye to Devin Lloyd, who they absolutely loved. but they have a lot of young guys that they're really feeling good about. So it's funny, like you go city to city to city. Jacksonville's one we're not going to do a ton of talking about because it's not this national team. But remember, they gave the bills everything they could handle

and they bring back just about everybody else except a running back and a linebacker and they got better this off season. So I am excited for Jacksonville. It might be my early AFC Super Bowl pick. Wow. We like that. Wow.

We like that. I don't know if ESPN and did. Disney are doing flips over at Jacksonville Super Bowl in their first year. But I am. Yeah. Well, I mean, ESPN is putting a lot. Whoever's in the Super Bowl, it's going to feel, I mean, we're getting some early looks at things that are happening.

To say a company is going rather big on something would be an understatement. I mean, this is going to be a movie. Obviously, it's a Super Bowl. So it has to be. We get a chance to look at some of this stuff. Jeez, Louise. Yeah. And it's Los Angeles.

So the amount of opportunity. It's going to be gigantic. If Jacksonville is in at Super Bowl, I think we will all certainly be pumped because of the tail that could be told depending upon who they're playing. Did you imagine Jacksonville, Los Angeles Rams in there? Oh, my God.

Well, that's, and then Liam and Sean are best friends, so that's actually fun. There's a storyline there. Well, the storyline would be the Avengers take on a team from Duval. They're playing in Orlando. They're leaning into it so much, though. Like, this is every, it's like playbook,

and it's just, hey, if this is the hand we're dealt, we are going to play into that. And they'll talk about how many primetime games they've been given. Liam works with a guy John Gordon. Do you know John Gordon?

J-O-N, yeah, no H. Yeah, he's a motivational speaker. He's also a guy who's a connector and is, you know, a man of faith and Kevin O'Connell, Sean McVeigh, Liam Cohen, Chris Schull, all these guys, it's almost like he's there, Spengali, if you will.

They go to him in the off-season. Hey, I want to put together my thoughts, my visions. And he puts together basically what is your vision board for your team. When you come into me, tell them what do we want to be? How do we want to? And Liam spent a lot of time with John Gordon this summer. And I believe they're going to come out and they're going to be motivated.

They're going to be on the same page. And I believe these guys buy in. Like they believe in Liam. And they love the fact that he went up against Sala last year in that post game. They love the fact that he barks a little bit. So this Jaguars team is one of these smaller market teams with a giant chip on their shoulder. And I can buy into that. I'd like to, I love Liam Cohen.

I love Jacksonville Jaguars. Good luck. It's going to be a tough road in the A.C. Soss. Yeah, yeah, you're right. Let's never, ever forget about that, especially with Danny Dimes being back. I'd like to know a little bit more about John Gordon here, okay, because anytime I'm hearing somebody is helping shape. There's only 32 jobs. These NFL coaches are some of the greatest motivators, leaders on earth.

If they believe somebody else can assist them, I think that's a massive compliment. Now, John Gordon is a motivational speak. What is John Gordon? He's an author. Like, you know, like Ryan Holiday, like those types where, like, you read these books and it kind of centers you, and it gives you, this is the guy, John Gordon. This is who they believe. I love the image. Tim Tebow, all these guys go to him, and it's like this council ship almost.

And a lot of it is faith-based. And John will talk to them about let's just like, let's ground you and let's build up what you want to be. And then let's build it around your organization so we can set the culture for the team. And we might think it's a bunch of hogwash, whatever, but. Who's we? Whoa. Sounds like that. Sounds like that is.

We're a big of interest. There's a we. Hey, that's not the pronoun. We're looking for this particular conversation. We have not met John Gordon yet, okay? You could use I and me, if you would like, but a we in this particular setting, not accurate. There could be cynics. That's all I'm saying, to any of this stuff.

But if you're a real leader and you look to other leaders, he's the guy they go to. I love that we're doing a whole thing. I was just mentioning his name. John Gordon is one of the most influential and sought after leadership authors and speakers today.
