It is phenomenal and I felt like there was a little delay that might have been on me. I do apologize, super jacked up because today is a special day. I had an incredible opportunity to go chit-chat with Cole Trickle, Tom Cruise, down live in Daytona, before the Coke Zero 400 this past Saturday.

On very short notice, got invited down there to catch up with Tom. Not only chit-chat about Digger, which is out one month and a day from right now, but also days of thunder coming back. And obviously NASCAR was at the time in the middle of an arrow up to the right, where they captivated the entire globe, not only with this fantastic old moonshine running cars that were certainly the depiction of American muscle. as they were rolling. But there was this type of community and culture that people looked

at from the outside and said, I want a piece of that. Then obviously the attitudes started building. Then there was a little bit of crash and there was a little bit of brash and there was a little bit of crash and whatever they were fighting amongst each other. And then all of a sudden NASCAR became this global sensation. Tom Cruise, one of the greatest actions of all time, played a character named Cole Trickle, who's this young wild driver

who was willing do whatever to win. Just like three. They had to, very similar, actually. They had to rein him in a little bit, and then now, guess what? Boom, he's back. So Tom Cruise invited us down to chitch out with him. We have a conversation about life, about movies, about cold trickle, about diving into these characters, about being a hum.

It's about 17 minutes long or so. We'll run that here in a few moments. We also have a legendary press conference awaiting us in a second hour. Yeah. Ryan Garcia is fighting car or Ben. Yeah. Okay? That's happening in Vegas next Saturday.

they are going to bat for the WBC welterweight World Championship, okay? They're both going to be joining us in a second hour. Okay, we've done this before. Yeah, we have. We've done this one other time in the past, and it is optically hilarious, to be clear, I feel that way.

Now, do I love that that is happening? Would we rather be live in person with both of them? Yes, but I do think we'll get a chance

to chit-chat about a fight that's certainly going to steal some head. headlines next Saturday and see where they're both at. As World Championship boxing potentially makes its way all the way back into the forefront of pop culture with Zufa promotions, which is obviously Dana and Nick Con and TKO and W.W.E and UFC and everybody kind of coming together to try to do the boxing world. There's like four guys. They're also going to be there. You got five guys to block the four guys. Now you can bring in tight end. Obviously, now you've got six guys blocked four guys. You can keep running back in. Okay, now you've got seven guys to block the four guys. But if two guys are going to eat up two guys, now you start doing math, guess what?

Three people left, two people left, one person left, who's blocking nobody? Okay, that's what's happening. Yeah. That's what the Rams potentially are going to do. We'll talk to AQ Shipley about that. Yeah, I mean, I don't think Tony needs to be at that table to say some egregious stuff, but I do appreciate the fact that it may be amplifies a little bit. Sure. And speaking of amplifying, it sounded like somebody was trying to gas you up there whenever you were trying to gas up Tony in and saying something stupid today. I saw it the Los Angeles Rams thought to themselves. A third of our team are captains. Yeah, that makes sense. My immediate thought was, why, what, what happened? If you got 11 cabins, do you have any captains? If you have 12 caps, you have two quarterbacks, you have one quarterback. This was something I didn't expect. They're, they're, they're,

Their jersey now should be just the amount of seas. They're just going to be bopping around everywhere. Los Angeles captain. Exactly. They're everywhere. And you start going through it. It's like, well, I assume that guy, yeah, does deserve. I assume that guy probably does.

Joe Cardone is represented from special teams, longstopper Navy. Respect. Appreciate him. Yeah, he definitely deserve. Devante, yeah, he definitely deserves it. Staff, obviously, yeah, okay. And then Aaron Donald's not a captain? Okay.

We're going to have to edit this thing here in a little bit. We're going to add another one in there. D. But what are your thoughts? as we get into the captain's time of these teams. I'll share a couple fun stories. You know, some teams do the team vote. Anonymous voting system.

Who knows the vote? Just you, the paper, and whoever's counting all of them at the end. Coach. Well, who's counting them at the end? The person that really wants a certain amount of people to be the captain. So anytime that anonymous vote happened, it did feel as if exactly who you thought a coach would want to be the captain.

became the captains. So there was some questions on the conspiracy. Then there was coaches that were just like, boom, you're the captain, you're the captain, you're the captain, we'll swing a captain each week to be the fourth captain. Now we're out of here. Debutt, 11 captains. Is this Sean McVeigh making a mockery out of the thing?

We've got a team filled with leaders. What do you kind of take from this? It's interesting. I wouldn't say alarming necessarily, but when we go through throughout this time of year and people start naming their captain, you'll see some teams maybe only have two, or you'll see three,

offense, defense, special teams, four, maybe even five. But then once you get up to kind of that five, six range, like, okay, that's a lot of captains. So to see a graphic like this, see a picture like this is kind of crazy. And I think by response to you was like, yeah, just so much leadership. And you start looking at the names and the faces. And yeah, there are people who you would assume will be captains on most teams. And it is a huge honor. Whenever your team does vote you as a captain.

And I feel like those are the only kind of captains that matter, the ones that are voted by. the team and then we all been in have been in situations where yeah okay you may have three and the fourth guy's like okay that's the guy the coach wanted in there that's probably you know the guy he goes and talks to it's probably a guy that goes and snitches and say what's really going on in the locker rooms yeah

that's kind of the that's what happens in those meetings you know just sitting in there and I'm not saying it has affected me probably has but like just listening to doing the vote then the announcement of the winners and who the captains are and then an immediate

Who? Oh. Was that you? Because I did. So, Vinny, you voted for that guy? No. All right. Cole. You voted for that guy? No. All right. We are a small sample size, but we are three right here. And then we need up. Hey, you? Huh? No. Okay. Neither did. All right. Nobody voted for that fucking guy. Okay, Chuck.

Chuck talks to this guy. Okay. We need to know that this guy matters a lot. And it's the same thing. you have, I'm not even getting into the entire game. There are some coaches that were leaking on us, too. You know. Oh, yeah. Yeah, you got to recognize that quickly, and you've got to utilize that to your advantage, not to your detriment.

Okay, there has to be a hooty-who on who, on him, okay? We need some stuff, don't we? Yes, we do. Let's go ahead and work that. That's what captains are doing. They got 11 of them, maybe 12 of them, once Aaron Donald gets in there. The Aaron Donald conversation piece has been loud,

and I think for good reason. I think, obviously, them being the odds favorite that they're being to win. And the teams who have been plus 500 or better over the last 20 occasions have gone 0 for 20 in winning the Super Bowl whenever it starts a season. So if it's such an obvious favorite to win the

NFL season to become the Super Bowl champion that they're plus 500 or better, the last 20 times it's happened, it hasn't happened. So. Okay? Now Ben Fox doesn't fox around. No, he does not. And this is a good stat. And it makes me a little bit worried about you know, potentially laying a little bit on

plus 500 because that's probably the best odds you're going to for the Los Angeles Rams all season because I genuinely don't understand how we're getting a first down. Now, Miles Garrett's knees been swelling up a lot. Yes. I've seen more Aaron Donald reps as a Los Angeles ram than I've seen Miles Garrett reps as a Los Angeles ram. But let's just act like they're both going to be playing and that defense is going to be what that defense is going to be. Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, is a man who was a center in the NFL for 100 years. He's a Super Bowl champion player coach, just like Jackie Moon for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Ladies and gentlemen, center in the NFL, also head of the wedge for kickoff return and sometimes a fullback. Ladies and gentlemen, AQ. Shippley. Yay. Thank you. Look at that head right there.

What's up, boys? Bam. Bang. Bam. Bam. Good to see you, dude. Good to see you. I know you were in the same division as Aaron Donald, whenever.

you're in Arizona Cardinal. And I know because I'm pretty close confident of yours that you didn't sleep all week basically whenever you were playing Aaron Donald. And I know you weren't the only one that had similar nightmares of number 99. Now, you go over to the AFC North for the people that have played against Miles Garrett for the last

decade or so. There's a lot of tackles not sleeping when Miles Garrett's coming to town as well. Not only because he loves Halloween and he's spooky and everything like that, but he is unblockable seemingly whenever he doesn't want to be blocked. Two guys that when they don't want to be blocked can literally just not be blocked. How are the offensive lines going to handle this?

Because to me, it feels like there's not enough numbers to protect people. How is anybody getting a first down here? How are people getting a first down against this team, let alone the back ends restored, the rest of the D-lines good, the linebackers can move? How do you get a first down? Please, can you just explain that to me? Yeah, I hope they go back to what Peyton Manning did and three-step drop, get rid of the ball quickly.

I mean, there's a million different ways you're going to have to game plan against these guys. The problem is, back in the day, we used to have a protection when we would play against Aaron Donald, number 99, right? So 99 was the protection call, which means you're just sliding to 99 the whole day. Well, what if they put 99 opposite of Miles Garrett? So 99's over here and 95's over there. Now you've got to pick your poison. Somebody's going to have to win a one-on-one matchup. The problem is when you get to third down, you can do so many different things.

If they can get you in third and long, this is going to be an absolute nightmare for everyone, as everyone obviously knows. But you can put them on the same side. and then you got the T.E. stunts, right? So now Aaron can set it up, and then you get Miles around. Or you get the E.T. stunt. Now Miles is down, crashing, blowing up the guard, and then Aaron's around. You got a nightmare there. Here's the other thing.

Now you run the twist game in the middle with the 2D tackles, and you get Miles one-on-one. You get everyone sliding to Aaron over here, and then you get all this space with a tackle on Miles Garrett. It's an absolute nightmare. The key is, if you are playing this team, you've got to win on first and second down. That's the key. You've got to stay ahead of the change. The other thing is, obviously, you guys are going to go. How do you win on first and second time?

You've got to be able to run the ball, I guess, against him. But isn't Aaron Donovan? He's 280 pounds. He's very good. There's no question about it. But he is 280. So if you can get the double team on him, you can get some movement on him. That's what we used to try and do.

Whenever we would play against him or other guys who just love to rush the passenger. Don't get me wrong. He's good against the run. But he likes to use his quickness. He likes to swim around blocks and get back in it, right? Like JJ Watt used to do. There's only a handful guys that can do that. But if you can somehow scheme the double.

team up against him. Now you get two bodies on one. That's the, that's going to be the key. And you got to get three yards. You got to get four yards on first down. Now you stay ahead of the chain. Second down. Now you get another three. And then if you can sit in third and three, you keep them out of the twist games, an obvious pass-down situation. Yeah. And then the back end to their lockdown as well. So let's say you're- I mean, they're good everywhere. Yeah. They're good everywhere. You heard that's the problem. You heard the GM, last need yesterday, he said, I'm worried about right now. Okay. We got Matthew Stafford's window. As long as we of Matthew Stafford, I'm going to try to win right now.

I'm cognitive of the future, he said. It has to happen, and we'll deal with that whenever it takes place. But I'm trying to win right now. He's assembled the Avengers. He really has over there, and they've got 11 captains. You know why they've got 11 captains? Because they've got fucking everybody you've ever heard of on the same team, so everybody needs to see

they at least deserve it. Who knows how long they're going to be there for? You know, they got the four stars underneath the sea, you know, each star lit up for each year. You're a captain. They have a couple gold stars on there, which is the four timers, four timers. But all these guys, who knows if they end up blasting with Rams are going on somewhere else, if you have a captain somewhere else, you still earn your star.

So I assume it's like, hey, you would be a captain anywhere else other than this particular team right now. You deserve it. Let's give 11 guys out there. But I think they like their culture. I think they like the way they got things rolling. The defense seems impossible to get a first down unless you push push over Aaron Donald for three to four yards on first down and second down and get into third and manageable. But on the offense aside, they're unstoppable too. I genuinely-

I started looking at this roster a little different. Now the guys that aren't captains, I'm just going to start looking like that. Must be a bad man. Hey, let me say this too. And I will say this because obviously, I remember being on the coaching side and whenever we played against Aaron Donald,

the upstairs coaches, they have to be very cognizant. They got to be dialed in and keyed in because I remember this very clearly. When we played the L.A. Rams in the playoffs, when I was coaching for the Bucks in 21, they end up beating us going on to win the Super Bowl. It was very clear.

There was somebody upstairs watching 99. And when 99, he loves to take breaks, right? They like to keep him fresh. So, hey, let's go four plays. You get a first down. He's out, getting rest, come back in. That coach upstairs, 99's out, 99's out. That's when you take your shots.

That's when you go seven-step and get your pass protection. The problem is if they somehow platoon it where 99's out, but 95's still in, you're still kind of fucked. Yeah, it sounds like there was a 95 is out of the game call too, potentially on on most sidelines. So at least they can keep one or the other on there. And once again, I mean, the rest of the defense is unbelievable, and they're all going to be able to eat because of this.

Now, on the offensive side, Tony Diggs brought it up this morning, are they going to be able to protect Matthew Stafford? Now, Dan Rolowski yesterday said, Los Angeles Rams offense is the... Is the easiest offense in the NFL to operate, which didn't come up during the MVP conversation last year, but that is what he said.

That's what a lot of New England Patriots fans are saying. That's fascinating. You're saying that after what Drake May did last year, and you said Matthew Stafford was clearly the MVP. I think what Orlovsky is probably saying for who Matthew Stafford is, Matthew Stafford knows every defense that's out there. He knows exactly the right decision to make for this particular offense. I don't think he's saying, like, as a rookie getting in here,

but I think he's saying for Matthew Stafford, this offense, he knows it like the back of his hand. I didn't take it that way. Well, that's probably what Orlovsky was mentioning if I had to guess, because it's real. But also Erlovsky mentioned, they keep him up. He gets that ball out very quick. He doesn't get hit much.

They understand they got to keep him safe, which is why they might have 14 personnel. in the game at certain times. Are they going to be able to protect Stafford? What is the leverage point on this Los Angeles Rams team? Is it the offensive line in protection like it was a couple years ago or they have that kind of figured out? No, listen, I mean, their offensive line,

I don't think when you look across the board, any of their five guys are sitting there like, oh, yeah, that's a clear all pro or that's a pro bowler, but they play well together. I think that's a key, and they've had some consistency. They've been able to keep a lot of the same guys over the years. I think what Dan's trying to say, and I kind of agree now being able to call,

the games of the Cardinals and seeing Coach LaFleur operate the same offense this entire preseason, which by the way, with the entire two, threes, and fourth string guys for the Arizona Cardinals, they look like a juggernaut because here's the deal. The offense is easy to operate. And what he means by that is it makes it easy on everybody. The offensive line jobs easier. When you're sitting in a Bruce Ariam scheme, for instance, right, and you're ending up throwing the ball 35, 40 times as an offensive line is a nightmare.

You're running an empty protection. You've got to hold up in protection for five or six. seconds on every single play. But you understand that's your job. Well, when you're in this offense, you're running the football, you're running the zone scheme, you're running the gap scheme. You got play actions every other play. You got a naked boot every other play. So you're only in drop-back protection four times a half. True drop-back protection. So if you can get the lead in this offense, which obviously Stafford's incredible, they got the weapons on the outside, really good running backs, right? If all they got to do is just kind of get in the way,

run a clean operation and a clean offense, you get the ball out of the hands quickly, you get easy completions, and you pick and choose your spots based off of the play action. You got a low, middle, and a high operation when you roll the naked boot, and somebody's going to be open with the weapons they have. Yeah, and with the weapons they have and how they're able to operate, you think they're going to have leads, which Miles Garrett hasn't had a lot of, right? No. And Miles Garrett's obviously never operated next to another defensive MVP.

So we assume both these guys are going to eat more. Last question here about the Rams and the Aaron Donno Penn Hill's question. Go ahead comment. Yeah, AQ with Aaron Donald and even Miles Garrett at this point because he's missed so much time. How long is it going to take for him to kind of get back into the entire thing? You took a couple years off. So would you want to play the Rams early? Do you want to be in those first six weeks, even though they're fresh?

Or do you want to be towards the back end? Like, how long do you expect it to take for Aaron Donald to get back to full-blown, 100% guy who we saw right before he retired? Yeah. First off, I do not think you want to play the Rams ever. I think that's the first thing I'll say. Secondly, I think it's going to take a little bit of time. I think, I mean, I think the interesting thing, and I think I keep coming back to the word callous, right?

Your body becomes calloused and used to playing the game of football. It's a physical sport. It's a different sport, right? Like, you can lift at your home and your home gym, and you can run on a treadmill. You can do all these different things, but running on grass, different movements. Listen, you can run on a treadmill. That's straight ahead.

but now you got to, he's known for his wiggle. He's known for his athleticism. He's known for his ability to do this whole thing and get up the field and work inside and work outside and all these different things. And I'm not so sure that was part of his regimen of working out over the last couple of years. So I think it is going to take a little bit of time. I think they're going to be smart with it as well. I think they'll probably only give them, I don't know, 20 to 25 plays in the first couple

weeks. But again, a lot of those plays are going to be on what? Third and long. Hey, go get the quarterback. Go do what you do, right? and he's the best that's ever done it on the inside. There's no question about that. And then you pair him up with one of the best that's ever done it on the outside.

And you don't have to rush him back because they got other guys. That's the key. Like, it's not like they needed him to go. I mean, they were one, two plays away from going to the Super Bowl without him last year. Now you add two of the most premier guys plus the guys they added in the back end. It's like, this team's going to be serious. So you can kind of wean him in, I think. Okay.

And if they wean him in, we assume, what, a month or so, probably get back into it. And you talked about training the last couple of years as he was certainly still lifting and still in great shape. I mean, we all saw him on the internet. It looked unbelievable. But the athleticism, who knows if he's playing pickup hoops or whatever? It ain't football. It ain't football. Especially in the trenches where he is known for just bodying people.

Like that, I don't know if he's doing that on day to day the last two years. He's been training with two tents, I believe, back in Pittsburgh. And the videos have looked outrageous. I mean, they haven't seen the knives yet, though. So haven't seen the knives yet, though. So I don't know if this is the same Aaron Donald until I see, you know, multiple knives going at him and him hitting the hands. That's literally what this guy used to do.

So, like, his preparation, I think, is something he takes obviously very seriously. I think he donated a gym in a locker room to pit so he could work out there. I think he is like one of the biggest fitness freaks that has ever existed. So him getting back in a game shape, hopefully he doesn't take the, yeah, this is it. This is it. Yep. There it is. This is classic.

Yeah, I got these knives, okay? You're just going to keep him off you. All right. How about it? I played against him 11 times. I know exactly what he can do. I mean, he is seeing it on tape is one thing, seeing it on TV is one thing, but seeing it live in person when it's coming at you. It's a different story, right?

Like I used to, I just never wanted to get embarrassed against him. So I would take the bull rush. I would just try and get back, let him work his moves. And then I'd get back and then like just eat bull rushes. I'm built to eat bull rushes. That's kind of how how I use. used to approach going against him, right? But he's so good.

I mean, I think you guys have the one clip of him going against Zach Martin is one of the best. This is what he's so good at. He lines up wide. He goes inside, presses the inside pack. Zach Martin's going to be a first ballot hall of famer. He gets him to fight back inside, turn his hips, and then he swims you back outside. Watch this. Work the inside, then back outside.

I mean, there's nobody that can do that and move as fast as he does. And, oh, by the way, the other guy that can do that is 95 to his outside as well. So good luck, boy. Yeah, good time to be retired, brother. Certainly good time to be talking into a microphone. Zach Martin, though, we have to reiterate this number 70 right there. First Ballot Hall of Fame Guard right there. First Ballot Hall of Fame Guard is how they refer to him.

And I think people would say he's one of the greatest of all the time. And the reason why we want to show this particular clip is because this is good on, this is great on great right here. And this is what it looks like. Will he be the same? We shall see. In Australia, it's a long flight. Maybe Miles Garrett with the swelling of the knee 17 hours on a plane.

He might not be playing with a plane. I ain't worry about Miles Garrett. It'll be all right. We missed the game in two years. All right. 16 a year before that. They should just lose the first game anyways. Get that pressure of like undefeated season and all that shit out of the way.

Let some other people maybe bet on them that aren't going to take them out plus 500 and then go from there. They should forfeit it, send a message to Raj. We're not doing this. Okay. You're saying offline to Australia. Yeah. Shrink the game, you're saying. Yeah, you've been a big shrink the game.

I'm back on it. Okay. You said, I like these international games. It's inevitable. Now you're saying, no, we need to fight. a little bit here. I like the Sean McVeigh's basically saying he's all my stuff. We're heading how long's the flight? 20, 22 hours of travel. All right, we need to be there at least what, 29 hours before the game then? We need to leave probably. Is that the math

I'm doing as I'm doing? You got to be there at least for 24 hours, right? Don't you? All right, whatever that math is, that's when we're leaving. That is the only one team has ever gone completely undefeated. Just go ahead and do this game. Okay, let's just do it. We'll do the game and then we come back. I don't like that for the people of Australia, but if they win this game, I mean, all the sleep experts and body experts that say you've got to go a week ahead of time, it's like, are you going to

follow up with saying, and maybe not actually, if you have the Avengers as your roster, you can kind of just go into a time portal, and then get farted out onto a football game and then win a game somehow in the middle of beautiful Australia.

Like, I was watching Joker whenever he was playing Fed, whenever he was. was playing this Mr. Alcoraz fellow whenever he's playing who's the sinner yeah but who's the lefty the lefty with the headband rafa raffa when nadal was playing i would watch the headlines and serena like when serena was watching i feel like i watched more tennis than ever i watch the stars it feels like america if if we have a star people will watch is shelton going to be that guy for us is there a chance do we have any of those guys in the pipeline right now um ben shelton's had a tough year he lost in the first round at Wimbledon. He lost in the second round in straight sets at the French Open.

But he did make a run in the Australian Open, which is also hard court because of his massive serve. When you're serving at 141 on a hard court, basically nobody can return it. But if you're on grass or clay, it can be a little bit easier. So he has a chance to make a deep run here. But at the Australian, he ran into Yonick Center and lost him in straight sets. So can he make that next step on his best surface? We will see. but not, you know, going four sets and losing the first one, six one. Not an ideal start, I'd say, to his U.S.O.C. campaign. I heard, okay, thank you.

Thank you. Not a great start to his U.S. Open campaign. His girlfriend was there. Obviously, the lights were on because he is an American. Commentators, who I don't remember who it was, did a great job. I think Fowler was on a call. Was it Macon Row? Macon Row's brother.

They were incredible. It was really, they gave me a lot of information. I appreciated that as somebody that was just watching. They were talking clearly his nerves and jitters got him in the first. clearly six one that opening set i assume he won over to his thing i don't know what he did to his racket if it was anything like miss loew boy swan uh if he did that but he ends up just six one the second set turns it on so it felt like what the tennis people were saying like maybe he does have the opportunity now with that out of the way like he got embarrassed by this guy in

front of his what his girl his country queen everybody i don't know if the queen was there who's the queen latifah oh sorry queen latifah was there roger goddell was there last night uh queen The queen is dead, actually. Who's the super, super fashion lady? Anna Montor? Yeah, she was there. No, not Hannah Montana. Montana was not there, though.

I don't know if Hannah Montana was there, actually. She could have been. It felt like that's what last night was for tennis. Everybody was seemingly there, and it was good to see Shelton get a big time win. But I thought to myself after meeting show and I'm like, this guy, if this guy was to go, I think tennis would do very well for tennis in this entire thing. But tennis will hold up, obviously, because we're in the middle of a grand slam here. And obviously, the U.S. opens a big deal.

Now, it's pivot away from sports. Let's talk about movies. Sports tie-in, though, NASCAR. Sure, sure. I got a chance to catch up with Tom Cruise this past weekend, and I saw a lot of people on the Internet say, this dumbest life of all time? Yeah, yes, it is.

Friday morning, I get told like, hey, Tom and his team were wondering if you would want to come catch up with him about a big announcement they're making tomorrow. So I said, I'm going to need some more information on what that is. They said, days of thunder. announcing it from Daytona. Cold trickles coming back. I said, holy hell.

Let me see if I can make that happen. I get down there and I get a chance to talk to Tom about not only days of thunder, but the way he views life and everything. It was an honor, ladies of gentlemen. Here's me and Tom Cruise, chit-chatting in Daytona. And it ends with, I think, a phenomenal finale. Ladies of gentlemen, here it is.

And I study a system and then I see if I, and then I improve it out. Just like you did. Yeah, bingo, yeah. Just like you did. Yeah, we learned a lot of things. You learned it, you look at it, you go, Hmm.

I think I could do better. Exactly, I think I could, yes, yes. We went from, with Digger, we went from six hours makeup. They're the best people in the world. What I did was I got to read together. I was like, look, all you got to do is the math. There's 24 hours in the day. If I'm in makeup for six hours, and I'm on set for 12 hours.

Okay, all of a sudden I got six hours to sleep here. And I have two hours to get out of it. Okay, we got four hours now of life. Yeah, so I was like, okay, so I don't mind it. I don't need to sleep. But I was like, look. look, we're going to get this under an hour. And here's the thing.

Like I went, they said, that's impossible. I said, well, if you say it's impossible, then you can't do it. So what I said was, is let's just say it might be possible. So what I did was I had a guy, you know, come in and put up a board, and then we just put, how long is it take to put each piece up, timed it, started to work on their motions, everything they did, so that every motion became like a ballet. And that ballet turned in, and then suddenly, before they knew it, it was three hours.

And they were like, no, we never thought it. And then it was two hours. And they're like, no. I was like, hey, might be possible. Maybe. They started getting into it. They started feeling competitive. Then they got it into under an hour by the end.

They were pumped. Okay, so that type of, I don't want to say obsession, but ability to expect out of not only other people but yourself, you think that's been your whole life? Yeah, it has been. My whole life has been, I want to be competent things. I got fired from a job when I was, I must have been eight years old cutting grass. Oh, this is your Michael Jordan story right here?

No, when I got fired. Michael Jordan didn't make his high school varsity team as a freshman. I was eight years old. Yeah, they were. They started a weapon. I was eight. I was like, I got fired. I was like, I better figure this out.

Studied everybody else. And then I, how did I cut this grass? I went back and I said, I'll cut it for free. And I did it until I learned. I thought, okay, I like studying things becoming competent things. That's what I want. You know that. Yeah, yeah.

You know that. I love it. You know that. I like watching you work, bro. I like learning from you. Yeah, well, I study you. No, don't study me, brother. The world needs you to remain you.

You said you don't need to sleep there whenever we were talking about Digger. I like sleep. Yeah, we all do. We're talking about Digger. Yeah, you said you don't need to sleep, though. How? Like, so when I think of Tom Cruise, I assume you're one of the guys that wakes up at like, same time, we're eating the same food, we're doing the same thing.

We're learning this. Is that how you are? No, here's the thing. I mean, it depends on what I have to do. Depends on what I'm doing, what I'm training, you know, because I'll, I'm constantly, studying something, whether it's singing or dancing or studying movies and lenses. It depends on where I am. I definitely, you know, since I was a kid, I'm studying the body to go. How do I utilize the body to learn how to fight, to learn how to sprint, to learn how to

do that perfect running form too? We've seen that shit. You're an athlete. In the snow, I saw it in Tomka. I saw the perfect form in there. So you're always striving to learn. Yeah, I'm always learning. I'm constantly trying to learn. I'm a student. You know, I respect people that you know, have these skills and I'll go in and I'll study those skills and then see what they know. And that's how I look at movies. You know, when I started out, I studied every department and then I studied the studio system and then I studied distribution. Because, you know, I'll write a goal up like, I want to attain this and then I go, how many things do I have to learn to be able to get there. Yeah.

So that's kind of how I do it. And then execute. And then execute. And then do it again. And again. You know what it's like. You have game speed, you have rehearsal and you have game speed. In order to understand your own skills, you need to be in the game.

You gotta, can I get it up to game speed? So in making movies as we're going through it, it's a team. It's everyone coming together to be able to have that level of skill and ability. You know, and how do we get everyone's level up to that? Yeah, everybody's following your lead too. Your coach and quarterback, bro. Which leads to this. Welcome back, Coltrickle, bro. Come on.

Okay, so you just told me off air there a little bit. You've been thinking about this a long time. I've been thinking about Coltrickle for a long time. I love this sport, you know. I grew up like just taking cars in the back streets, you know, before I had my license and racing and country roads. And looking at dirt tracks, and I love NASCAR, and I love racing, and airplanes and motorcycles.

We did Top Gun, and I took this story to Don Simpson and Jerry Bookhammer to produce, and Tony Scott came on. After the first one also, I'd just been thinking about how can I do it? How can I seat the audience into another journey with this character? Yeah, most sequels suck. So what you did with Top Gun? What you did with Top Gun, I think, makes us all. So I am a massive fan of yours, as you know.

Thank you. And I think we all, as moviegoers and people that have got to watch you over your entire career, from sliding in your underwear to obviously doing everything you do. I think we know that you only do good shit. Like, I think that's a real thing. So, like, I think Top Gun has made a lot of people super excited about this, because they're like, you saw what he did with Top Gun. And for people that don't know Days of Thunder, it's kind of like a NASCAR Top Gun.

It's like the whole thing. It's how people are describing it, right? Like the, how buy in you are, a little bit of a wild child, okay, able to do it, got to get buckled in a little bit, okay? So it's a similar storyline, different sports. So what you did with the sequel to Top Gun, I think everybody's like, yes. We're going for it.

And I feel like we really got something. You know, Annie, enormously talented. She's gonna be owner, you know, engineer. I found a way in. You know, there's technically a lot of things that we, when you're doing stuff, like even with the aviation, the stuff, how do we, we tell those stories. I spent years training in aerobatics, training in from helicopters to

jets to airplanes, and studying aerial photography and creating aerial photography. So we're creating stories like, what can I tell with the motion? Those are things that I'm looking at with NASCAR and with these cars. I love the culture. You know, it's going to have, it's a real immersive cultural story that's going to have racing and it's going to, it's like, how do we do it. So we're going to be creating knowledge as we go along. Okay, so you have to study the sport, obviously. And you've already know you have a good baseline from way back in the day. You said he'd been thinking about it for a while.

Yeah. Is he driving? What are we doing? Oh, he's driving. Okay. We didn't know if crew chief, obviously, we didn't know owner, we didn't know what you do. Here's the thing. If I'm making a movie about airplanes, I'm flying.

I'm making a movie like, I'm not, you know, no, no, I'm driving. Can I ask you a kind of emotional question? Sure. Yeah. Okay, so Val Kilmer, obviously, everything. Robert Duval here, like two situations. How is that for you as like a human, like taking trip back in time from what it was? Because I'm going to be honest.

Yeah. I don't know what the hell you do. Okay. I am a breed of white that is not aging the same as you. You obviously look unbelievable still. And I'm sure you watch the old top gun and the new one and you probably see a lot of things. But for us, it's like, damn, Tom looks unbelievable. And what you're still doing.

So it's like taking those emotional journeys a little bit right back in time, I assume, is something for you or no? Yeah, look, I admire. I was able to make two films of Bobby and Val. You know, to have Val there and Top Gun, it was beautiful. You just see the power of those artists. And I think you'll see how we treat it in this movie and the journey of this story. I don't want to give too much away

because the tone of NASCAR and the tone of these films, it has a joy. It has their interesting, they're humorous, their characters in NASCAR, you know what I mean? It's a real community. Anyway, those artists, I feel very grateful that I had the opportunity to work. with them and see how they work and create those scenes together and create the movie.

So, hey, that hub with Val, man, we're all crying. I couldn't imagine you too. Yeah, definitely, most definitely. And it was amazing because you could see him. He was Ice Man. Like that guy was so talented with how he just became that character. He was Ice Man instantly. And I just think he's, look, he's a brilliant actor.

You look at his movies, I've always admired what Val did and to be able to work with him. That scene we were acting, just how he regarded Maverick, you know, the sniff, you know, he's, you know, that thing, he just knew, he just became it. And it was, it was effortless to act with him. It is emotional. When I see it, it's emotional. Hell yeah. It was emotional for me as a person. And just someone, I admire Val.

I remember when we did Top Gun that, you know, I really wanted him to play that character. When we started, it was like I couldn't ever imagine anyone else but Val playing that role. Well, it worked. Yeah. He did it. I'm excited to see what you do with the casting for days of the And he is like, you can see like that, that woman, she has comedy chops and dramatic and just real voltage as an artist.

Yeah, and like you, an icon, you know? So that's, anytime you get two icons together, I think it's pretty good thing. It's gonna be fun, man. I'm gonna say this and I don't know if I'm supposed to or not. I got an acting role in a movie. I was a World War II drill instructor. Come on, man. Come on, I was in there.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. And we talk to you. It's perfect role for you. Okay, I appreciate that. And I like you're saying that. I don't think you've seen it yet, so let's wait until you get eyes on it. I talked to you, we got a chance to interview you.

From the moment I found out about it before taping, and after we got done taping, you were so nice with your time. I asked you, I said, hey, let's just say a friend of mine was playing a World War II drill-instructor movie and a Peter Berg movie that's coming out and the shooting is in like four weeks or whatever. And you didn't blink. You looked at the camera and you gave me like, Thespian 501. Have you gone and trained with the DIs? Have you met the DIs? Have you studied the DIs? What era is it?

What is the temperature of your character? What's the history of your character? Ask Peter Berg what type of attitude this character. You gave me everything. So I want to let you know, thank you for that. And then you told me, after you do all the studying, when you show up, you just beat. And I want to let you know that if you wouldn't have told me that, I would have embarrassed myself all over this.

I went down to Paris Island the next weekend. I stay with the DIs. I did all the training. And then I could feel like, literally right before it started, I thought of your ass. And I was like, all right, so Tom said that I should just fucking be right now. And hopefully it shows up. I think it did. I was much more confident and comfortable and I loved it.

When it comes to characters like this, or Digger, which is a vastly different, like, how do you, like, prepare for the Digger character? Because I got people from your team telling me that this might be your best that you've ever done. It's a role that it's such a joy. Look, Alejandro and Yari 2, I've known 26 years. To be able to, you know what it's like, it is just being, and it is dreaming, and it is, it's this kind of character, and you work with In Yari 2, when you see what he brings, and to be able to have that dialogue back and forth, the skill level that it takes to play a character like this, to understand the lenses, to understand that kind of comedy and find that kind of drama. And I think when you see it, it's so fun. And the actors that I'm working with are so good. is it's it is the environment that in yari to the table that he sets the design of the film the tone of the film the character is in every way as an actor is just a joy to play you sit back i don't want people to see the scenes you know with performance i'm just like and it is that i just just work your dream and then you do that research and then it is just be it is we're now rehearsing to understand the framing to understand the physicality and explore that that was hell of lot of fun yeah and i can't wait to see what you did and i can't wait to see what you did and i'm

I'm so glad that that worked out for you. Well, we'll see. We'll see if it worked out. But here's the point. No, no, you did it. Let's not see. You did it. And it's a step.

And as I say to everybody, when I work with people, like, uh, you know, sometimes like they're worried to try stuff, I'm like, I'm easy. They go, I'm going to do this over here. I said, you don't have to tell me. You just do it. Let's play. You know, I'm, I'm with you. You know, I don't, I'm not one of these people that's like, it's this way and that.

You're exploring together. And I like people to feel comfortable where they can leap. They don't have to worry. You know, I'm going to embarrass myself. It's like, it's okay. We all have to feel safe to do it. You know what it's like? That's how you get the surprises.

That's how, whatever it is and whatever, whatever thing, if you're worried about failure, you're thinking about failure. You know, if I'm jumping off a cliff and I'm thinking I'm going to not make it, all I'm thinking is that, it's like, I know I'm going to make it. Yes, definitely. But you prepare, you prepare, you prepare. You know? Yeah, it feels like you're constantly preparing and constantly wowing folks.

And for me, as somebody who's such a fan of your business and somebody that's getting a chance to dabble in it, it's like the future of the industry, a lot of people say, they're on these little shoulders right here. Now, with cold trickle, days of thunder, obviously Digger coming out, this is summer 2028, I heard. Yeah, yeah. Okay, I assume you have other things in the works as well. The future of the movies, you have been very open about, I mean, you'll jump out of plane, I'll see it to movies, I'll see it to movies, I'll see it to movies. We've seen you eat your popcorn. Your popcorn eating habits are unbelievable. You Randy Moss popcorn.

You do that. We've seen it. We love that. But now it feels like Netflix is putting some things into theaters because they want to save that. Paramount, I believe, I just heard, wants to do 30 movies in a year. Okay? I think that is obviously, it could be a huge benefit, I think,

to the theaters or the industry as a whole. Like, what are your thoughts on where we are right now and like where it's headed? From where we were in COVID, when we thought everybody was going to stay home, home until you lied to everybody. I know. Yeah.

I know. I think it's awesome, you know. Here's a thing. They're going to live with 30 movies. It's a community. It's not an industry. The people in these studios are not just people in the studios. They're my family.

I know we're going to get those 30 movies. I want us all to come together as a community to make help those 30 movies. It's not just going to be, you know, Paramount doing everyone's going to need all the help of every artist to be able to do it. We do well with those. Those 30 movies are going to turn into 40 movies. are going to turn into 40 movies, you know, and for every studio, it's like to have that window and what it means, it's not good enough

that I just get to make this movie, for me. That's, I see so many talented people that I want them to have that opportunity to make the films that they want and be able to, what do you call it, game speed, okay? Like, you can have these artists, all these greats, they got to cut their teeth and learn in the same way that you get to act and you're learning.

It's you take it and the next one and the next one. Every single one of them. The Inari Toos, the Spielbergs, the Nolans, me, all the opportunities that I've had. I want that for every writer, every director, every producer, every artist. And the only way you do it is we have to create an abundance. It's production begets production. And we've had one of the great summers from when I was in COVID where people were coming at me because they're like, why are you doing this?

I'm like, I want people to have this opportunity. It's a beautiful art for them. want community and we see how these numbers are coming back and look at all these great films that we have. Record-breaking weekends in a movie. I know and it's like you look at it from Obsession and Nolan to Spider-Man to Prada, you know, one after the other I, the way we get that is through also a crew, like the things that I'm doing are cutting edge.

These kinds of storytelling, the only way you know you can study something in a class, but you gotta be able to test it and you gotta be able to see it with an audience and you have to know these tools, how to use them and how to communicate and get up to what it's like, I don't know how I was to describe it except for like, you can practice, but then there's games speak. It's game day. Yeah, we'll see. Do you know what I say?

It's game day. It's game day. And when you're making a movie, every day is game day. And the skill level that it takes, and if we come together as a community to understand what audiences want and tell our stories that you want to tell, but find ways that are entertaining that audience, you see the movies I make, they're a wide range of films. from smaller to bigger. We need the movies,

and I want the movies for everyone. I want every studio I want. It's like, that's where we are. I want those people to have that opportunity and in those theaters to just keep the ball rolling. That's my... Well, no, there was a lot of people

calling for the death of theaters. There's a lot of people calling for the death of theaters. Let me tell you, that's a whole other story. You were the front of the line. You were the front lines, though, saying, like, no, see at the movies, go to the movies. And that's another community thing, too.

Like my daughter and I want to a movie to see Spider-Man. That's the first one because she's three. How awesome is that? Unbelievable. Come on. Unbelievable. Come on. When you're looking at these artists, man, look at how talented these people are.

I've never been competitive. Making movies isn't competitive. It's not, I get inspired by seeing great work. And I look at it, I go, wow, that's amazing. More films we make, the better it's going to be for theaters, you know? Those theaters are going to be happy. I remember like in the 80s, 90s, 2000, you'd have five films opening. People go to the movie theaters and they do it.

And I know, you know, you see how audiences are enjoying that experience. But we got to make them. You got to make it to develop those skills and ability. And we have to, as a community, we've got to help each other to do it. Congrats, man. Thank you. I can't wait to see you back behind the wheel. I can't wait to see you back behind the wheel.

You had to be panicking for a second there when you started teeing up AJ on something that happened with Ohio State. Dude, I thought I was about to come on and get absolutely train wrecked. Like I had minor panic attack. You're like, what did I miss? What just happened?

No, don't worry. You did your own research, Greg. You could do your own research. But anything that happens with Ohio and Ohio State, my Algo feeds it to me. Strictly because we're with one of the presidents of Ohio here, Monday through Friday, and then the other one every single Saturday, which obviously leads to an incredible college football season.

Already started, obviously, congrats to Bill Belichick and all the teams that have gotten a win in week zero, but week one, obviously, storylines in abundance. We'll talk about Alabama here in a little bit. Kailen DeBore has the most amount of wins for any Alabama coach in its history over its first two seasons with 20, okay? Nick Saban, 19. Yeah, so just that conversation. We'll talk about them.

But right now, let's obviously talk about what's going on. LSU and what's going on the entire SEC story. You're in the South, one of the faces of the South, talking for the South in this exact moment. How does the South feel about everything that's kind of happening with these injunctions? Because it's not just LSU football as LSU and LSU and will tell you. There are some softball players at Ole Miss. There's some soccer players at Texas that are also in this injunction that are happening. How does the South feel about what's happening right now and how it's all being covered?

Everyone's getting a little bit affected by it for sure. But I think we're going to ask most people, like in this part of the country, dude, they're all about the SEC, the SEC, the SEC we've been told for the last hundred, plus some odd years at the SEC, it's all for one, one for all, right? Well, since NIL got in the world, it's no longer like, I do, we're all together in this deal. It's like every man for themselves and we got to go take care of our own backyard, right? So that's where things have changed. And I think this is kind of unified everybody behind the sense, like, what are we doing?

Like, why are there no rules and why is it that no one can hold these schools accountable, right? So look, it's not lame, everyone's blaming Lane Kiffin here. Like this is not Lane Kiffin's fault, in my opinion. His job, he gets paid by LSU to have the best roster humanly possible. And if that includes NFL guys, that includes NFL guys. My issue is the fact that we now have guys that have gone to NFL training camp and they can come back, take freshmen's reps that have been working for the last nine months. Like that to me from a locker room culture.

Like, you guys understand this. We've been there, right? Like, what does that do when you bring a guy in last minute? you're 18, you think you're going to play, and now all of a sudden this fifth-year guy to take some of your reps. Like, that's got to be a weird dynamic in the locker room, don't you think? Yeah, definitely. And Lane Kiffin came out and said the NFL does it all the time.

There's just a thousand guys cut. Okay, so there's just professional football. Now, that was his angle on it all. But I do believe college is different. You're still growing, hopefully, some sort of brotherhood, even though people are turning over new rosters every single year. We looked at the tail of the tape between two coaches, because Lane Kiffin and Dabo couldn't be more polar opposite,

even though they both come through, at least Alabama at some point of their coaching career. You look at the amount of ranked wins. Obviously, Dabo has been a head coach for a long time. 41. Playoff appearance of seven. The asterisk there next to Lane Kiffin is because he wasn't there. Like his team was there, but obviously it got pretty loud. He was not allowed to be there. The top 25 ranking from the Associated Press.

LSU 11, Clemson, first time, I think, forever maybe since Dabot not ranked. And then obviously the last five seasons, one coached. coach 50 and 14, the other 47 and 20. So I think the tale here is like over its history, Clemson has obviously been very, very good. But the evolution of these new rules in which Lane Kiffin certainly takes advantage of it, and is currently trying to take advantage of two of the absolute max.

It's just two different polar views of college football. Now, Dabo has dabbled a little bit more in the transfer portal over the last year or so. It has not been fantastic. But is there a way Clemson goes in there and wins this? If Clemson beats L.L.A. Could you fathom? I mean, because there's a lot of drama and contraband.

It's hard to win a football game. And the head coach having to deal with a lot of stuff right now because, you know, in his eyes, it's making his team better for the long haul. He asks his leadership counsel, how do you frame the questioning? I think people's next question was, how do he frame it to the leadership council? But leadership council said, let's make the team better. It's like all Dabo's been trying to do is win football games. Why and how, you know, can Dabble go in and win this?

Or is there literally no chance because of how? talented this LSU roster is and how good Lane Kiffin is as a coach in college football. Well, first of all, Pat, I love you so on Saturday. Just as someone that's been down there on the bayou, I know you've been down there a million times. No, one time. I'm recommending regardless of how you feel about what might happen in this game, don't pick Clemson on Saturday morning. It will be chaotic, right? Because that place will go bananas, dude. So it might be good cinema. We'll see. But all I'm saying, though, you're a thousand percent right like last year we think about clemson how we approached it in the regular season

and the preseason leading up to it right top 14 in college football everybody's back most returning production they have a home game against ls u like this is the one this is the year boys we got to go all in it's proof of concept dabbo's resisted the portal because he wanted to grow within well then they go out lay an egg score 10 points lose the game but it was all the pressure was on them last year to make a run this year it's like dude we haven't talked about clemson at all nationally It's been all about LSU, all about the roster building, all about Lane Kiffin. Meanwhile, Davo, self-proclaimed bunch of nobodies at Clemson still have dudes. So I would not be that surprised if this is a game in the third quarter.

At that point, all the pressure is on LSU, right? Because they're supposed to be the team. Meanwhile, Clemson has zero expectations, no pressure, and is playing with house money. So I think it's a very dangerous game if you're LSU to go in and kind of overlooking a team that still's got guys on the other side that'll play on Sundays. Everybody's expecting 50 burger, 60 burger from LSU, and it's like, man, I hope so. And at night, I think over your shoulder there, you have a picture of Death Valley right there over your right shoulder. They talk about that place just being like, yeah, right, which is why it's such a desirable place for coaches to go to. Not only are you going to get the best recruits out of Louisiana every single year because they want to be at LSU and you have the money to be able to pay for your roster.

But you talked about me picking Clemson down there. It's like that place was out right. And you hear Nick Saban talk about it, and he's obviously been everywhere, and he's taking everybody's best shot, as you have as well. He's like, they're a different country to them.

I mean, it's just an absolutely different country, and it's like, Lane Kiffin has the spectacle on offense, right? They keep D.C., defense was top, what, one in a lot of things in the SEC. Interceptions, I think they were one. I think third down they were one. I think there's like multiple things.

Their defense was already number one in, and they keep the D.C. Lane Kiffin can go. explosive. You're talking about Baton Rouge potentially becoming top environment in all of sport in the entire planet again like it was a few years back and I'm excited for that. I am

very, very excited for that. But boy if Clemson goes in there game one of the Lane Kiff and era after everything that is happening gets a win. Dabo afterwards, can't you see him hands on on hips afterwards standing in the middle of that field just like yeah, nobody really thought

we were going to, you can almost and then that place would actually. Forget me picking against them. That would actually be. But on the flip side, if they do 70, 80 points in this defense does what they did last year. And the offense picks right up. It's like, holy hell, what a buzz saw for the rest of the year. Go ahead, AJ.

AJ has a question for you about college ball. Yeah, Greg, as far as LSU goes, we know the expectations from the outside. I guess what are you expecting from them this season? What's a great season looked like for Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers? Well, dude, I mean, here's the thing with LSU. It's like they might have the biggest variable in the entire country, the widest gap, because I really could see them winning a national championship with the talent they accumulated, with the quarterback they got coming in from Arizona State and Sam Levitt, some of the dudes

they have on defense. Like, they got guys. I mean, there's no denying the ceiling that this roster has. Problem is they also have never played together. So how do we know? I mean, how often, and we've all played on good teams, great teams in some cases, like, how often is an all-star team super successful when having to run the gauntlet when they were just recently assembled. So that's my biggest question about them. It's like, if they get off to a hot

start, they're three and O. They got Clemson Week 1 at Ole Miss week three. Like look out. Like the rest of history, they're going to roll. They get punched early and they don't respond very well because they don't have that collective buy-in over the course of many years. And they could drop off and have a seven and five year. I mean, that's the gap. I don't think any of us can envision Ohio State, Indiana, Georgia, any of those teams going seven to five. Whereas with LSU, everything's so new. It's not out of the realm of possibility. I don't like it's likely, but it could happen. Meanwhile, if all things align, go and get the whole thing, right?

So they're probably one of the widest gaps, probably the toughest to read because there are so many unknowns. And it really starts, I think, at a big way against a quality opponent this weekend where they're going to get punched, they're going to get got a time or two. How do they respond? That's the big ticket item for them, I think. A team's mental toughness is obviously something that gets talked about in this new modern transfer every single offseason.

Do you actually care about the team or do you only care about yourself? that's why I went well hired in that Ohio State team. We're able to lose to Oregon early. Will Howard transfers in there, gets paid a bunch of money from Kansas State or whatever. They lose Oregon early, something he did. You know, they could have turned on them. They lose to Michigan.

It obviously goes into what it is at the end. They could have turned on them. Instead, they had an entire meeting. They locked in and played their best football win a national championship. It's like they defied, I think, the odds on battling through with how many millions of dollars and expectations and outside slander.

It's like, that's a difficult thing to keep everybody on the same track. So the fact that LSU has the opportunity to maybe showcase that or avoid that entirely, I'll be eager. Now, week three, everybody's talking about Ole Miss. Obviously, Ole Miss, we like Golden. We like Winidad.

We ask me publicly, we as a team, were wondering why Lane would leave. Well, he wants to go win a national championship. It's like, you, right? Right? You might win one right. Yeah. You might win one right now, right? Are we looking for a national,

we might have one. right here right now. No, LSU is where it's at. And then everybody tells me he had to go because of everything it takes place and I can't wait to experience that. But Ole Miss back on track to potentially go with the best quarterback, maybe in the entire country. Go ahead. Tone. Yeah, Greg, we love, we love Winidad. We love Golding. We love Lacey. They're going to be unbelievable. But no one is talking about their matchup in week one. Everyone's talking about their matchup in week three. But this weekend is the only ranked matchup. It's Louisville and Ole Miss. And obviously, Braum is an unbelievable college football.

He brings in Lincoln Kynholz, the backup from Ohio State last season, who is an athletic quarterback. Brom, great with quarterbacks. What are your thoughts on that one? And is everyone, everyone's just pencil on Ole Miss to win this one as seven point favorites? Dude, I'm telling you Louisville is so dangerous, guys. I mean, and think about, look, I hate to bring up bad memories for our guy, AJ here. But you all remember when Brom, way before he was even at Louisville, dude was at Purdue, right? And he had Ron Dale Moore.

I think it was like 2018. They ended up winning the game, like 28 points against top three ranked. Ohio State team. Like this guy is a giant killer and has been for years. Each of the first three years where he's been at Louisville, he's knocked off a AP top 10 team, including going on the road and beating Miami on a Friday night last year. So like this is a guy that can certainly rally his team around the idea of an upset. Now, the problem with Louisville is there have been some moments where they've maybe laid an egg where they shouldn't. They lost big to SMU last year by three plus touchdowns and that should never have happened. So you can show us, hey, yeah, you can beat Miami,

but lose to SMU by three touchdown. That doesn't make. makes sense. So I think this is a team that's super dangerous. I also, as far as Pete Golding's concern, like I think collectively, look, there's big questions at wide receiver. They lost all their guys there. But collectively, you can make a case. This might be a better and more well-rounded Ole Miss team than last year. They had star power. They had great potential, good starting 22. But once you got beyond the starting 22, the debt dropped off. So therefore, they gave up a lot of points. It's a big matchup. So I think Pete Goldie has addressed that. They have better personnel on defense. They have deeper personnel on defense. And maybe their wide receiver core has

has not necessarily been as top shelf as it's been in the past. But Trinidad is good enough to take and take over the game regardless of who's a wide out. Right. I mean, we saw him destroy Georgia almost single-handedly in that Sugar Bowl game last year. So he's the real deal. I just think this Ole Miss team might actually be better than last year, which is kind of a crazy thought given how good they were a year ago. Yeah, and Trinidad might be best player in college football. I mean, obviously got Jeremiah Smith and Malachi Aton. You got a lot of great athletes and incredible positional players. What I watched Winnaddad do live from the field pass last year,

I was like, damn, I had no idea this guy was like this, because they were talking about him wanting to go back to college. So I'm like, oh, he must not be like an NFL quarterback. He's like, nah, I think he's an NFL quarterback as well with the way he can move. His teammates love him, obviously his school loves him. I think him and Lacey are both up on the sphere right now as a potential Heisman campaign begins. It's like you've got to start off with Brom. In Louvre, good luck.

They're tough. And then LSU come to town week three. Obviously, that'll be insane. Okay, last question for you here. Greg, we appreciate your time from D. Budd. Yeah, Greg, we talk about Winoddad, Darian, Mensa, Sam Levitt, Julian San, C.J. C.J. Carr, all these quarterbacks and all these teams that we have those expectations for. Who is that quarterback or that team that we're kind of too low on that you can see making a college playoff push?

Man, that's a great call. I mean, there's a pretty clear path for the top seven teams. You kind of know who those top seven teams are. So I'd have to go a step further. I'll say Oklahoma. Now, Oklahoma last year made the playoff, had a good year, lost in the first round to Alabama. But a lot of Oklahoma, you can pinpoint exactly to the moment where they started

fall off. And that was when John Mateer broke his thumb in the third game of the year. And then for really a month, the offense didn't play very well. He really wasn't that accurate. Like, wasn't really playing the way he needs to play. Plus, that new OC, now it's year two. I think Oklahoma really at all three levels defensively, is legit. I mean, like big time, big time playmakers at all three levels. Then it's about their

quarterback just playing decisive football. And he made a little, my biggest problem with Mater, it's like he wants to be Mansell with the playmaking ability, but he doesn't need to be because his team's better than what Johnny had when he was at A&M. Does that make sense? Yes, absolutely. Distribute, dude, like let the ball go. And if you punt it, by the way, best playing football, right, Pat? Like, punt it. It's a good play with how they defend. And just play. field position from time but the time. And don't try to force the issue because when he tried last year, he made mistakes like the multi-interception game against Texas.

Okay, the guy couldn't hold the football. So, I mean, he broke his thumb. The first four weeks guy was going to win the high one. So I throw on a football with four fingers. Exactly. A hard thing to do. Exactly. So I would, maybe some other decisions were made because of that.

Maybe it's like, I don't think I can potentially make that. And parting ain't the best playing football. It is. No, it's not. It's a ball and down the sidelines. It's a post. No. Split cover two.

You know, I understand this guy, you know, it's not really at my level and can't keep up with really my punches or anything. So, you know, his game plan is going to be quite, you know, simple. He's going to try to rough me up, try to be a little dirty, try to get in there as fast as he can. So, Just be prepared for anything, you know.

So we trained very hard and we made sure that, you know, anything he throws at us will be prepared and conditioned to go through. Okay, Connor, obviously you hear what Ryan says there. We're going to be hugging. We're going to be getting this thing. We're going to be doing some dirty shots as his expectation. For you, as a man is obviously a physical brawling fighter and have been for your entire career.

What do you hear whenever he says that? And is that what you expect him to say about your fighting style just this close to a fight? Listen, when you've had 26, 27, fights, you've heard it all. You know, I've heard I've not been good enough, I've not been this, I've not been that, continue to prove people wrong. So, you know, if he's overlooking me

or thinks I'm going to be a walk in the path, then, you know, I'd be mistaken. You know, the last person who overlooked me got put in hospital for three days. So, you know, up at middleweight. So, you know, I feel extremely strong. I feel powerful, training's gone well. And I'm excited to claim that world title.

Connor, what is Ryan Garcia on tape? Do you guys do that? Do you train against a lot of people that are like your fighter? Is it kind of nameless, faceless opponents like some football coaches are like? For you, how are you training for Ryan Garcia? Just doing what I do. Just doing what I do and what I have done for the past 10 years. I've been in this sport for a decade now.

So, you know, he's got fast stance. He's a good fighter. You don't become world champion by not being a good fighter, you know. And I'll prefer prepared to deliver. I have no doubt in my mind. Zero doubt in my mind that I leave with that World Tower on Saturday. I love to hear that, obviously.

I think you have to have that mentality. Ryan, we've watched you grow up on the internet, I think. I think we've all watched you. And I want to let you know, congrats on getting to a point now where it looks like you are very happy, content, locked in, dialed in. Would you say that? How do you feel heading into this fight, mentally, physically,

all of that? I would say that, you know, You know, I'm very sharp right now, sharp mind. Everything has been going perfect. So, you know, we're just carrying the momentum from last fight to this fight. And, you know, we have a responsibility as a champion to make sure that we come in the best shape. And, you know, give the fans the best version of me possible. So that's exactly what we did.

And we're already ready to go. I wish the fight was literally tomorrow. I'm ready to just get this done. Yeah, Connor, how is that? weigh-ins and all that stuff making way doing that. Yeah, speaking of written in the stars, gentlemen, for kind of both of you, you know, combined you have 34 knockouts together. Is that something that you are studying with that tape film session? Is it something you're visualizing? Is it something that just comes naturally inside the ring during a certain round?

When is that kind of felt during a fight? Or is it something that you've already seen in your mind before? it happened. Ryan, we'll start with you, Ryan. I think the natural process of the fight has to play out. Obviously, you could catch somebody with one shot and, you know, lay him out. There's different ways to knock somebody out. athletic as Malik neighbor's body. But I do have a friend who's super duper athletic. but what the hell was he saying there? Because it looks like he looks really good. What is he saying from his point of view? Yeah, like you said, from the outside looking in, it's going to look great. But it's that mental hurdle, that final mental hurdle, because we always talk about you can do the workouts,

you can run the routes, you can do everything to simulate football. But until you're actually playing football, that's the difference. So for a wide receiver, I mean, he's blocking, obviously catching the football, but even right here, you're going to go to the ground at some point. If he catches 90 balls, you know, 75 of them, he'll be tackled on at the end of the play at least. that physical part and just, I mean, feeling 100%. You never really can really cross that hurdle until you actually do, yeah, you know it was the coast, until you actually do it in a real game.

In practice, nobody's touching number one. You know, nobody, you're not putting them out there in preseason. So it's going to be out there when the real bullets are firing. And those people across from me, they don't care about your health. They're trying to get you on the ground by any means necessary. So it's that mental hurdle. And we talk about all the time. When you're rehabbing, you know, for fans on the outside, it's just, hey, it's four to six weeks,

it's six to eight months as well. whatever it is. But for that player, like that's every day, that's every hour. And you're used to being this, you know, somewhat superhuman. And now you sit down, you're on the shelf. So, you know, coaches, people start looking at you different when you're walking through the hallways, you know, that support system at home is very, very important. The things that you're dealing with in your personal life, you don't have that same escape as you used to have when you hit that football field and nothing else matter. So it's a lot of things going on. So I'll be happy to just see Malik neighbors back on that football field. I'm sure anybody associated with Giants,

feel the same. And remember, he had to get a follow-up procedure to clean off some scar tissue because he had some stiffness and everything like that. Obviously, it's not abnormal for that surgery to happen, but for somebody as athletic as Malik neighbors, people being like, well, he's nowhere near smooth or fluid right now. That's bad news. He heard that as well. He had to sign back up for another recovery and for another rehab after the second procedure, even if it's just scar tissue, which is the most painful part of it all. I appreciate him being as transparent as he is, but he looks like he's all the way back, AJ. That's what I'm seeing for Malik neighbors. I can't wait to watch it. Yeah, watching him run routes. Like it's fun to watch how quick this guy can get in and out of breaks and how he can move. But I'm sure, yeah, I do appreciate how honest he is. But it's true, like, you know how many weird positions that your body gets contorted through the course of a game,

whether you're blocking somebody, like Debutt said, you're going to the ground. There's just so many different angles that you're getting hit from and you're, you know, carrying guys weight. Like, it's just a different thing, but I think he's going to be fine. Has he played against anybody other than the Indianapolis Colts? Okay. He had 171 and two touchdowns against Colts.

Can you tell me about this lion's defense without these guys? And what is Shepard's supposed to do if you don't have any guys that can play football? I mean, you definitely got to adjust, but you need talent. You know, you can be as great as a coach as you want to be. If you don't have the guys, it doesn't

really matter. And those guys up there on that graphic, healthy, probably the best safety duo international football league. Kirby Joseph, one of the best deep ball safeties in the league. And then Brian Branch is one of those safety that can do anything. He can play against a run. He can play man coverage on running backs, tight ends, wide receivers. And he's communicator. He can blitz as well. So not having those guys on the field are a huge, huge detriment to that defense, especially not having top-flight corners on the outside either. They do have,

I think, a pretty solid pass rush, but you need the guys in the back end. You need all 11. So these are two huge missing pieces. I believe the starters are Maddox, who used to be a corner and Chuck Clark. And Chuck Clark, who's played a ton of balls. So he's going to have people lined up and be in the right places. And they have somewhat of a favorable schedule. So hopefully these guys can get healthy sooner than later because like I said, when they're healthy and they're actually on the field, these are two superstars.
