Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, beautiful people, and welcome to our Humble the Boat. The Draft Kings Thunderdome. On this football is the greatest Tuesday, September 15, 2020, 6th, this sports program begins now. Football! It is incredible. Week 1 of the NFL slate wrapped up last night at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, as the Chiefs proved that they is still the Chiefs. The Chiefs weren't crazy last night.
Starting point is 00:00:27 Now, Kenneth Walker being out of this team, I think, think is a special edition. This could take us back a couple years where the Kansas City Chiefs had a run game and a powerful defense and Patrick Mahomes had to basically learn how to not be a quarterback that wants to throw the ball at the time. Hand a ball off, defense will get you stuff. And then when we have a big third down or a late fourth quarter, we need to drive. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelsey would make their magic. Well, turns out it looks like they got the same script for this particular season. And this guy, K-9, obviously Super Bowl MVP. He had 221 carries for the Seattle Seahawks last year, has this magnificent run with them, leads them
Starting point is 00:00:59 to a Super Bowl, gets the MVP, then he's out of the building. And you think to yourself, well, they had Charbonnet, they had a couple other running backs. Was Kenneth Walker really that impressive? Why do the Chiefs love him so much? Well, what we found out is the Chiefs love him because they're going to give a ball every single ball. Yeah. They handed the ball off to him.
Starting point is 00:01:12 They threw the ball to him. Whenever Patrick Grombs was looking for things, he found K-9, they had another back that was able to spell him a little bit. But with Kenneth Walker, Eric B. Enemy being back in the building, too. I think he's kind of hard-nosed, tough trenches-type guy. If you listen to what they're saying in that locker room, that team was so fun to watch. Patrick Bones didn't even complete a pass over 10 yards. Now, Travis Kelsey goes for 57.
Starting point is 00:01:32 Yes, he did. And I just so happened to be watching that particular catch with the entire Kelsey Swift family. Nice. It was an incredibly hot box, loaded box, excited box, enthusiastic box, bought in box. And watching him do that was awesome. You know, because there was a lot of questions. Travis, you know, last season wasn't his best season. Obviously, he's another year older.
Starting point is 00:01:51 He's about to be 37 years old. Is he still going to be a weapon? While broke some tackles, strided out, was obviously open for Patrick whenever he needed it. And you know what? A lot of people say a couple years ago maybe get to the end zone. I don't know. I don't know if he does.
Starting point is 00:02:03 I think he looked fast. I think he looked incredibly strong, confident, and comfortable in that offense. So if Patrick Mahomes is only going to play better, which we assume is going to happen. And then he looked pretty good. Yeah, yes, it did. When he got introed last night in it,
Starting point is 00:02:16 it was cool to be a part of the pregame festivities. Shout out to everybody for allowing me to be a part of Monday Night Countdown. That show was cool to be a part of. Excited to get the flow of that and, you know, celebrate what the weekend it was. in the game that's coming, and the way Scott Van Pelt operates is cool to watch. I mean, he's obviously a legend in the game. Jason McCordy, incredible. He was absolutely phenomenal.
Starting point is 00:02:38 Jason Kelsey, his energy is the greatest and also one of the best offensive linemen to ever play football. And then Swagoo, I don't think people know how big swagoo is. I was walking behind him up to the time. So we get kicked off the field after Monday Night Countdown. Okay. Not allowed to be honest. Games on ESPN.
Starting point is 00:02:55 I know. And also, like, we're supposed to have to have to. time show coming up, you know. But we get kicked off the field, basically. So, you know, like, hey, you guys need to get the hell out of here. So there's a bus RV. Shout out to Blue Compass RV. I think we gave credit to it in the Monday Night Countdown thing. That popped up on the screen. I was like, shout out Blue Compass on getting a little bit of a run here. But they have an incredible bus. So we kind of get kicked off the field until two minutes left to go do the halftime show. And then we got to get back off the field, please, or whatever. That was
Starting point is 00:03:18 interesting. I found that very interesting. You got the owner in the show. I know. How much money are they paying to have Monday night football? Billion. What? I don't know. It was just, it was an I'm learning a lot. I'm learning a lot here. I'm like, can we watch the kickoff? I got to get off the field. Get your ass off the field. I'm like, well, I'm doing the national anthem devil. I need to hear the hum of the chee. That was electrifying. The flyover. So incredible. Flyover, we have that bomber flying over. There's a little prop plane above it. Okay, like one of those ones that flies like a flag behind it. Didn't have a flag behind it. It was just kind of flying over. So I'm watching this thing. Oh, yes. And I go. And I
Starting point is 00:03:56 go this way and I see this little prop plane at a bomber flying under a prop plane out there. Okay, that was just like kind of a mind-blowing experience in that. But then the way their fans delivered, that felt like a college atmosphere. That felt like a college atmosphere. That guy crushed the absolute
Starting point is 00:04:12 hell out of the national anthem. Place one crazy whenever they showed him on the board. I guess he's probably done it before and has nailed it every single time. But yeah, that bomber flying over, the Chief's Kingdom going absolutely absurd. Broncos fans were in the building as well. They were very loud. It felt special in there.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Now we get summoned off the field. Get the hell out of here. It's like, all right, okay, cool. It would be nice to be able to watch this baby. Okay, we'll go up to the bus. I'm walking behind Swagu. Holy shit. This guy, yeah. I mean, he is this wide, this tall. He's just casually walking. He's got like
Starting point is 00:04:46 maybe the greatest attitude I've ever been around. I don't think anybody's ever seen him down. Obviously, one of the best fathers of all time. But whenever you look at that set, I just couldn't help but look around. I'm like, that guy is first round. draft pick. This guy, Hall of Famer, Jason McCordy, absolute stallion, Super Bowl, everything about him is incredible.
Starting point is 00:05:03 And then Scott Van Peltz and Goat, it's like, I am so lucky and thankful to be there for all of it. And getting a chance to chat about that game beforehand, and then seeing it kind of unfold. It's fun week one, you know, to kind of guess what a team's going to do. But now are we in the position that we know teams?
Starting point is 00:05:19 Like, are the Broncos dead? Because Davis Webb is calling plays. You know, and Miss Laura at halftime goes, how was that first half, not calling plays? He goes, was Asked me after another half. And they have the worst performance that Sean Payton offense has had in like whatever, a hundred years or whatever the case is. I think that amount of yards that they've had has only happened one other time in the history
Starting point is 00:05:37 of Sean Payton offense. So Davis Webb is certainly going to have the eyes of Sean Payton upon him for the entire length of this. But Sean Payton told us whenever we talked to him at the Combine, he basically said like, I think he's about a year or two away from being a coordinator, but the rest of the league maybe one of them in there. Here's from, Sean Payton at the Combine. I think this young coach, and I say young, Davis Webb is something. And sure, it's funny, the timeline that when you have a young coach, like a Joe Brady or a
Starting point is 00:06:09 Declan Doyle or any of these guys that I've been fortunate enough to hire when they're young coaches, like what you think is their timeline of success, position coach, coordinator, head coach is always two years behind what the league sees. It's much quicker. What the league sees is the rest of the league trying to hire your guy to potentially do something. And it seemed as if he was alluding to, like, I made the move for Davis Webb because some other team wanted him to be a coordinator, and I was a big fan of his. After last night's performance, do we give more credit to Spags in the Ken C, Chief's Defense, or do we have to question how this offense is going to be? We saw Bow Nix lead the number one seed, AFC seed team Denver Broncos last year. He looked great.
Starting point is 00:06:50 There was moments where Bo Nicks looked like a bona fide quarterback. Now, obviously, wasn't as consistent at the quarterback position. Obviously, there was some stuff that he had to continue to grow, but he's a young quarterback. Maybe he'd be able to do that. You bring in a brand new play caller for him. Is this going to stunt the growth of Bow Nix? Is this going to change the entire Denver Broncos future? Is this a decision that Sean Payton's going to regret?
Starting point is 00:07:10 That's what everybody is immediately talking about. But I think we should maybe give a little credit to Kansas City Chief's defense, too. I mean, the way they played was outrageous. So last night, my big takeaway, Chiefs is still the Chiefs. Denver Broncos certainly have to wonder about that play. calling position at Davis Webb, how long is that last? Is Sean Payton just kind of let that happen as he's standing on the sideline? We shall see.
Starting point is 00:07:29 Everybody's wondering that question. And I think the Chief's defense is for real, which is a run game and a defense. And Patrick Mahomes, are the Chiefs all the way back to get into the Mountain Top? Nine-year NFL vet, Debutt is here. Your thoughts on kind of my takeaway from last night? And do you agree or disagree on that with the Denver Broncos,
Starting point is 00:07:45 maybe just running into a stout Chiefs defense? Yeah, that's definitely part of it. I mean, imagine your first test being against a multiple-time Super Bowl champ is Steve's back Nolan. He's rebuilding that defense, especially in the secondary loss, you know, didn't have any starting experience, basically. Starting last night, you saw the rookie get his pick, Delane are early in the game. But yeah, I think it was a tough test. And look, Sean Payton, he has the trust in his young guy. Sometimes we see the promotion within or elevation and money, how much
Starting point is 00:08:12 they're getting paid or elevation in responsibility. So obviously he trusts him. He likes him. Now, how long is that least, you know? And I mean, even above Sean Payton, which obviously Sean Payton is running the show, but you think about that ownership group and you go out and hire Sean Payton and you pay him all that money, you hire him because he has been a wizard of a play caller. We've seen this done before. D'Amico Ryan, he gave up play calling duties as well. He's a great play caller in Houston.
Starting point is 00:08:36 So we've seen it done before, but when you have the expectation that you have in Denver, you want to see that quarterback. You want to see Bowknicks continue to evolve, continue to get better, better. So yeah, those are fair questions. This is a tough test. And maybe it's like how we do with players. Maybe it's the first quarter to season. and then we reevaluate things.
Starting point is 00:08:53 We know sometimes these coach you're impatient. Maybe it is two games. Like, hey, you don't get your shit together. We have a Dan Campbell situation where he's taking over play calling. So we shall see something to definitely keep an eye on, but I think all fair questions after week one. Yeah, and I was so impressed with the Chief's defense because they had young guys in multiple positions.
Starting point is 00:09:10 Obviously, that was going to be a question mark going in. And I assume Davis Webb was like, we're going to find out, we're going to find out. The lane gets a pick on the first play. I mean, he gets hurt on that. It's tackled like a quarterback in that entirety. but what a phenomenal play. Third and 11 obviously gets a pick.
Starting point is 00:09:24 Early place goes crazy. I don't even know if we were out of the tunnel yet. Don't think I saw this play. But it was certainly awesome as we were walking out, getting escorted. We can't even watch. If I have a bag over here. We can't walk. I was so flustered about it.
Starting point is 00:09:37 I was very intrigued by that entire series of events. But I will say what that defense did last night, I think, put a lot of Kansas City Chiefs fans. Kind of worries to a little bit of ease. Patrick Mahomes as well with how he was moving. When he gets introduced, into the stadium, let alone Benton, okay, left tackle. Yes, he's drafted rookie left tackle out of Indiana. He played right tackle, right guard in camp.
Starting point is 00:10:00 Hey, congratulations, you're starting left tackle, a position you haven't played since high school for Patrick Mahomes. Yeah, this guy, going to be greatest of all time. In your rookie season, not drafted just a few months. I don't know how this guy slips through the cracks, by the way. I know we got the draft process all figured out, and we all have so many different ways to look at it, and maybe there's something that we don't know.
Starting point is 00:10:18 Yeah. How does an undrafted rookie end up being the start? starting left tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs with Patrick Mahomes and have a night that's seemingly quiet. There's nobody even, nobody even notices. You had to show up at minicamp and say, hey, I hope you'll sign me 6-6-330 national champion who can play right guard, right tackle, and left tackle. What's super genius, I guess all teams, like that just kind of slipped through the crack.
Starting point is 00:10:41 I have no idea how that happens. But when he gets introduced onto the field, I mean, it was, I was like, galley, this guy that looks scared at all. And then Travis Kelsey comes out, obviously. the place he rubs last first home opener potentially you know in that entire and then patrick holmes is last and he comes out flexing okay he comes out flexing it's like okay and then he starts bouncing like back and forth almost it's like is he testing me right now like as he's going out there is he kind of seeing what it is there was zero hesitancy nope there was zero like fall off there was zero like limping
Starting point is 00:11:12 it felt like and his mindset mentality was like i i need to go get it right now so i enjoyed the hell out of watching Patrick Mahomes play football. I was very lucky and thankful to be an Arrowhead. And I think the Chiefs is still the Chiefs. I think people are going to have to deal with them the rest of the way. Now, one game, how much can you judge? Did the Broncos play ass? Did the Chiefs play out of their mind?
Starting point is 00:11:33 Did they get some good bounces? Did Denver Broncos not get the best bounces? Long season, I think Chiefs is only getting better. I assume the Broncos are as well. They better. Did they tell you? 28 missed tackles. Yeah, did the Broncos tell you beforehand on the field
Starting point is 00:11:46 that they weren't going to tackle anybody last night? You know what I realized? This is an interesting thing. A lot of guys when they didn't have their uniforms on and they were warming up, boy, I had no, fuck anybody. Helmets are crazy. I started, no, no, I mean, like, just like watching NFL when they always have an NFL or a helmet on.
Starting point is 00:12:07 Oh, yes, yes. I'm saying, like, it's crazy. Yeah, so the only reason why I need numbers names. Yeah, I need a number. I need something out there. Just, I saw Cortland Sutton. And the only reason why I knew that is because Jacey Kelsey says, Is that Cortland Sighton?
Starting point is 00:12:19 He looks like a stallion. This guy is just an absolute. Like everybody out there is an absolute monster. And then each Jack guy, I didn't know which guy was which guy. So I was dapping up a couple people. Tell them they're going to have a great season. Turns out they were just a quibing manager. Hey, Steve Jones.
Starting point is 00:12:37 The Jack Strait zone. Everyone matters. Part of the team. I got to figure that out, though. I got to start reading through the program. But no, I had no heads up that they weren't going to be able to tackle anybody. That's crazy. This Denver Broncos defense was the staple of the Denver Broncos.
Starting point is 00:12:48 This Denver Broncos defense was the story of the Denver Broncos. They led the NFL in sacks the last two years. So you would think with a hobbled Patrick Mahomes with a left tackle that wasn't drafted just a couple months ago, has never played the position since high school, that the Denver Broncos would feast. Instead, maybe coach Tomlin, what he said on Sunday night football, is kind of ringing true here over this first week. And how long should we expect this to potentially last with defenses just not being physical? Yeah, first couple of weeks, you got to get acclimated to tackling the against. We talked about it here when AJ was here to reiterate that Mike Tomlin point,
Starting point is 00:13:21 the only time we take guys to the ground, the only time you're live tackling once you get in the National Football League, is on game days. So now you haven't tackled all offseason. Now you've got to go out there and tackle Kenneth Walker or Rashy Rice or Travis Kelsey in the open field. Or Patrick Mahomes in the open field. And that's very, very difficult to do. But, I mean, 28 miss tackles, according to next gen stack is unacceptable.
Starting point is 00:13:44 Kenneth Walker was responsible for 14 of those. He's obviously dynamic Super Bowl MVP. You mentioned it, Eric Ben and me being back in the building. And as they get Patrick Mahomes back up to speed, first year he hasn't played in preseason. And the timing, the thing, it just didn't look right in the past the game, especially early, but we only expect that to get better. We talked about it yesterday with Joe Burrow.
Starting point is 00:14:03 The Bengals winning despite Joe Burrow not playing great. Same thing, the Chiefs. You should be more worried if you're not a Chiefs fan to see these guys go out and win with 15 not playing his best ball. The run game accounted for 56% of the Kansas City's yardage yesterday, which is the highest percentage in a Patrick Mahomes game college or pro.
Starting point is 00:14:19 That's a HEMBO stats. Shout out to him. And it was obvious at the beginning. I mean, said it. Yeah. Boom. They can't stop it.
Starting point is 00:14:27 Set hot? Boom. Right back to him. And it was like, that Chief's place, oh, there's another. Whenever Kenneth got introduced. Yeah, out of that.
Starting point is 00:14:35 Pop. It was a awesome welcome to the city. And then it was a great welcome to the team by Andy Reed and B. Enemy just to hand him the ball. I think they gave a big, loud announcement to the NFL. Hey, the reason why we signed the Super Bowl MVP is because we're going to go back to, we're going to try to pound a hell out of the team. And I like
Starting point is 00:14:54 that they're taking that stance at this stage because that's what the rest of the NFL is doing to? Well, we had more 13 personnel this year or this weekend than we had seen in a long time. Run game, under center run game has become more prolific. Just a couple of years ago, everybody was shotgun spinning all over the place. Then Sequin Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles lead the NFL in rushing. They had more rush yards than pass yards. And we fought a little bit of a turn of the tide going back to the old school football, and now we're fully entrenched in it, and we're seeing more points than ever before. I think it's a nice little mold of the high-flying offense, and then the power football
Starting point is 00:15:27 of the past. It feels like we've landed in a beautiful little spot. Now, will the defenses, after they're able to tackle people and realize that the regular season has started? Okay. Will they be able to catch up to what this offense is now with the pounding, the pounding, the pounding, will we get super boring football games week six through like week 13, whenever the defenses are all in their prime and offense are just kind of stalemating into each other.
Starting point is 00:15:49 There's a chance. But week one showed us offensive football is alive and well in the NFL and has an old school sense to it as well, Conman. Yeah, it's electric. I mean, anytime you're getting points, points, you're going to love it. I mean, the amount of running backs you scored multiple touchdowns can kind of go through some of them in my mind. But like Henry, Walker, Gibbs, DeAndre Swift, I think had three touchdowns.
Starting point is 00:16:11 Like the running back explosion is coming and it's kind of awesome because then maybe those contracts will go up. But if you are a Denver Broncos fan, probably panicking today. But like we just mentioned, their defense missed the most tackles in the history of football, probably. They're going to be okay. Their offensive line, how many times was it happening where Spags had eight guys right in front of them on the line of scrimmage, kind of playing that mind game with Davis Webb? It feels like Davis Webb, he'll figure it out. And I don't know if the Waltons are going to make a call to Champaign and say, hey, if you don't start calling plays tomorrow,
Starting point is 00:16:47 we're going to have to figure something out here because we just built you this new project facility and our team looks like absolute shit. But that's the other part of it too for the Broncos. Like Waddle and Nix never really got on the same page. We heard about Waddle all offseason how great he's going to be. Feels like that's going to develop. I don't think him or Cortland Sutton had a catch in the first quarter.
Starting point is 00:17:06 Damn you're the first half. So the Broncos as bad as they looked, it did feel more so like we forgot how good the chiefs are, how good Spags is, as a DC in general. How good Andy Reed is to pivot his team in, use the offensive line. So I think if you're a Broncos fan, you're okay.
Starting point is 00:17:22 Okay, I hope so. I hope so. I don't know. Yeah, I genuinely hope so. Or at least the gap is, you know. I mean, Scott brought it up last time when I said, hey, the Denver Broncos were 11 and two last year in one score games. Yeah, that's always.
Starting point is 00:17:36 That's like a big time football God's blessing to you for a year. That normally finds its... Yes, it does. That does kind of offset every once in a while. And I think that's what Scott was trying to say. I hope that doesn't happen to the Denver Broncos. But I think the past has told us, like, whenever you get super duper blessed and get lucky bounces in these one-score games,
Starting point is 00:17:55 which most NFL games are, normally the level is found on the other side, usually the next year. And everybody just goes back to Minnesota Vikings from a couple of years back, where they go on that miraculous run. And I think they win, like, 12 one-score games. I think there's like eight comebacks or something. And then the next year they're like 0-7 in those particular games. Yeah, because it's like crazy how, you know,
Starting point is 00:18:15 know, football works like that. I hope that's not the case with the Denver Broncos. Oh, you are all right. But we can't overreact after one week, especially with the amount of talent they have. Now, I will overreact to the fact that we lost our bed last night. It's got to one half of the hammer. Cowboys AP tone. It was plus 600.
Starting point is 00:18:29 Yeah. Obviously, there's a big time odds. And as soon as they came out and they started handing the ball off to Kenneth Walker, I thought to myself, yes, this is exactly what we need to do. Davis, Webb, I assume, was going to do the same with Dobbins on the other side. Also, I didn't expect that to be such a split. I thought JK Dobbins was going to be getting ball. a little bit more. Nonetheless, Kenneth, Kenneth
Starting point is 00:18:47 Walker scores probably could have scored a few different times. He did score twice, but we see nothing from J.K. Dobbins and Denver Broncos. Why'd we lose, tone? And people are telling me that we're supposed to win these things. Why'd we lose? Well, if we're looking back to what we've done this season, I believe we're now four
Starting point is 00:19:03 and two, so that is winning. You're not going to win them all, especially when it's plus 400 boosted a plus 600. So, you know, those people can relax. It's called gambling. And also, be responsible. Be responsible. Don't gamble too much you're mad at me whenever we lose. Okay, because we told you specifically,
Starting point is 00:19:20 don't be an asshole here. You shouldn't be mad when you lose. Well, you should be a little bit upset when you lose in anything. I think you should have a little bit of a family. You should be bummed out. At yourself, yes. We felt pretty good about it. It did feel like we were on the right side there
Starting point is 00:19:33 with the way the game was being played. Now, on that note, J.K. Dobbins was nowhere near a touchdown ever. That was kind of heartbreaking. The Debra Broncos, besides the drive after Mahomes' rushing touchdown, where they went down and scored a touchdown there. They were nowhere near a touchdown either. So I would blame the Broncos more than us
Starting point is 00:19:51 because they played their worst game in over an entire calendar year. Thanks Webb. Yeah, thanks a lot. That's who to blame. Actually, it's Sean Payton's fault. Boom. Okay, so I like that.
Starting point is 00:20:04 I kind of agree. Bo Nix took a huge leap last year. I understand you don't want to lose this guy. You like him. You think he's going to be good. But like it wasn't. this a possibility. He took a huge step. Sean Payton's one of the best OCs of
Starting point is 00:20:18 all time. One of the best play callers of all time. Can't we maybe maybe meet somewhere in the middle instead of just being like, all right, kid, you're calling the plays. I'll be close by. He even said he was like, I had to make sure I got to do something with my right hand, so I'm not constantly getting in there. Like, he wants to call the plays
Starting point is 00:20:34 still so badly. It just it's one week. It's hard to overreact, but like that's a big, Boenix is still young. Like he can still get to that next level. I just, it seems seems kind of crazy. And if he throws for five touchdowns next week, I'll look like an absolute moron. But still.
Starting point is 00:20:48 Davis Webb might dial it up. Certainly last night's bags had his number. Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, his junior NFL insider for ESPN and NFL network. Icon, legend. He's an actor. He's a cooker. He's a cat owner. Yeah, probably.
Starting point is 00:21:04 Pes enthusiast. He loves Pez. Also, Harry Potter, I think he's a big fan. You guys are walking to Wardour. He'll probably be talking about that. He does smoke meat. Love smoking. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:17 The most doesn't. This guy smokes a lot of meat. For a living. This dude smokes maybe the most amount of meat I've ever seen. You open his IG story. You're going to see him smoking meat. Yeah. Ladies and gentlemen, the massive meat smoker himself,
Starting point is 00:21:30 junior NFL insider for ESPN. Be a rapper. Yeah. Right? Let's go. What's up? I mean, you're right. That was actually one of the nicest things you've ever said about me.
Starting point is 00:21:42 I think you're a great meat smoker. I've never experienced it personally, but from optically outside looking in, you might be one of the best meat smokers to ever exist. Watch them smoke meat before. You have? Yeah. I mean, I've always, now, to experience it is different, obviously.
Starting point is 00:22:03 And maybe at some point you will. But you're right. Optically, I am amazing. I do great IG stories. I'm not saying you, but maybe you are someone you know. could experience it and you could learn how good about, never mind. What's up? Had great meat last night, I will say.
Starting point is 00:22:19 Had some fine. Where'd you go? Where'd you go? It was the, Leavis was one of the companies that does the stadium concessions. They smoke some short rib for 17 hours. Oh, phone right. That's nice. Yeah, that's good.
Starting point is 00:22:36 That's good meat. That was good meat. And I like Jason, Kelsey, and Swagoo. excited to eat the food. You know, like on game day, they bring food for 1,000. Yeah, and then the flies just eat it. Well, the crew gets to eat afterwards, which is great. But it's always an interesting move on like, what do we eat, how do we eat?
Starting point is 00:22:55 Also, you're showing us eat, how entertaining. Still working. Yeah. Yeah, like what? So feeding Saban has just become a fun thing because I don't think Coach Saban wants to grab anything. So it's like, I'm just trying to help a lot out who certainly needs some food. But it's on TV. So what do you actually do?
Starting point is 00:23:10 these people, Swagoo and Jason Kelsey just dove right in. I'm like, thank you. Thank you for doing it. Then Scott Van Pell kept saying, like, you don't want to watch me, man. You don't want to watch me. They were all saying. And I'm like, what? How's what I said? I was so, I was
Starting point is 00:23:26 befuddled. I really was. I'm like, what, what are you, are you a monster? Like, what does it look like? Yeah, it was so good. That was the burger, and then there was a little short rib, then obviously there was a 17-hour thing. And then look, they're saying, You don't want to see Scott Van Pelt eat. He eats like a monster. And Scott's like, I'll eat this when we go off air.
Starting point is 00:23:44 And I'm just, why do we know? We're doing that right now. Eat it now. And then he took a massive bite. They didn't get on camera. And he did kind of eat like an animal. Oh, okay. He had a huge butt.
Starting point is 00:23:56 Jaw displaced almost. I was very impressed with him. But so much fun last night. Let's move on from smoking and eating meat. Let's go to the meat of this thing, which is obviously ball. Let's go right last night. I'm on Sword. the lane gets a huge pick, but maybe AC joint?
Starting point is 00:24:11 I don't want to be guessing anything. What are you hearing about him? Because obviously that's a massive piece, potentially gone from a very young secondary in Kansas City. Yeah, first of all, look great. I mean, the chiefs have been really high in him forever. And, I mean, we saw him basically run the route for a receiver yesterday, get a pick, like, is the guy who's got a really, really high ceiling.
Starting point is 00:24:30 So he had a sort of hairline fracture in his scapula. I believe in, well, he had it previously, then came to training camps. had it evaluated and was in a red jersey for a lot of training camp landed on that same injury so hurt it didn't feel good obviously came out of the game but he's getting an MRI today i would say they are hopeful that it's just a sprain there's not anything significant and you know you hate to speculate on injuries and i would never want to do that but a best case scenario here would be that that he landed on an injury he previously hurt and it just felt weird like that would be a great
Starting point is 00:25:07 outcome. It didn't seem like structurally there was a major issue here. But anyway, MRI, probably around now and hopefully we'll have more by this afternoon. The place was upside down. Great turnover on 3rd 11 first series. I mean, what a way to start this particular season for the Kansas City Chief. So let's flip over to the Denver Broncos side. Obviously, it was a huge piece of our conversation. We love Sean Payton. We're a big fan of Sean Peyton. Davis Webb taking the reins. He told us at the Combine, like the League is normally two years ahead of what you would like to do with your young coaches. So it felt like he was saying that other teams wanted Davis Webb to be their coordinator.
Starting point is 00:25:43 He might not have thought the time was perfect for it, but he felt obligated maybe to give him his opportunity because he felt like he had earned it and deserved it. After a lackluster performance last night, one of the worst offensive performances by Sean Payton team in forever, actually. So can you just tell me a little bit about what the future holds here, how we should view this? and we all just assume Sean Payton's going to be taking the headset and the clipboard from him. Is that reality or not?
Starting point is 00:26:10 I hope not. Everything you're saying is true and accurate and like this should be a major discussion point today. When you have the kind of offense performance you have, this should be the conversation. But I hate it. I do because Davis Webb is a really good young coach. Sean Payton did this for a good reason. He probably would have lost him if you didn't make him the play caller. You want to keep good smart coaches in your.
Starting point is 00:26:33 building. And Sean Payton, as good of a play caller as he is, he is just as good of an evaluator of coaches. So he knows what he has in Davis Webb. I thought it would be better. I think everybody thought it would be better. But it is also not a one-week thing. Play-calling is hard.
Starting point is 00:26:51 They didn't run the ball enough. Now, Sean Payton also doesn't run the ball enough, which is why he writes, like, run the ball on the top of his play sheet just to remind him. But it is going to get better. And the Broncos believe it is going. to get better. And I hope what they do is trust in their really good coach to use the lessons and make it better. Week one is weird. It's always weird. And Spags, as you guys were talking about, is awesome. We got reminded of that yesterday. But I do not believe this is a short-term experiment for
Starting point is 00:27:20 Denver. Okay, sounds good. We'll obviously keep our eyes peeled to that. Let's go to another injury that took place early, though, opening night at a quarterback position, not really being chatted about at all. Go ahead, Ty. Yeah, Rapsheet. Is there any kind of update on Sam Darnold. Obviously, I mean, it feels like it was, you know, two weeks ago at this point, but it didn't look great. And here and anywhere, you know, like two to three weeks, but then there was the, hey, they dodged a massive bullet here. Do we have any idea how long Sam Darnold's going to be out for? Yes. So not going to play this week. And so first of all, as far as the injury goes, we've been calling it a hip. It's actually a, it's a butt, like hurt his glute,
Starting point is 00:27:58 hurt his butt muscle, basically. You know, kind of jarring and weird and looked strange. but he hurt his butt, which is actually a great outcome because in the hip socket, it seems to be absolutely fine, which like, you know, all like everyone on the internet is basically assuming that he's got like the Tua injury.
Starting point is 00:28:16 Like this was not that or not even close. So I would say the commander's game in week three is 17 days from when the Seahawks played. There is at least a chance that he plays in that game. So I would say probably missing one or two games, which is like really, really good outcome. Can you explain further a little bit? Is it a bruised butt, sprained butt, pulled butt?
Starting point is 00:28:39 What type of butt is this injury? Because it looked bad when he was walking. The walk looked bad, which led us all to believe it was a hip. What happened to his gluteus maximus that could potentially keep him out here for three weeks, you're saying? Listen, I'm not going to get into all the details, but I don't even think it's a gluteus maximus. There's other gluteus muscles that I believe...
Starting point is 00:29:00 Oh, like the minimus in there? Or the disheets, the gluteus? The gluteusidious adduce? I don't. Multiple gluteous situations. So I don't believe it's the maximus. I believe it's one of the others. But yeah, I mean, I think this is, it looked,
Starting point is 00:29:16 and this is sort of the problem with injury reporting now is it looked awful. And then the actual outcome, you get all the tests, and it's like, well, pull a muscle. So, I mean, look at that. He looks like it's, yeah, looks like, and then head is straight to the hospital. Also scary. Yeah, and they got out of the hospital in the morning. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:32 Also scary. I mean, all of it was very scary, especially for a quarterback that just won a Super Bowl with a team that is obviously poised to do great things again. Happy he's going to be back, but also Drew Locke. Yeah. Hey, you call Drew Locke your bodyguard. Yeah, that's a bodyguard. Yeah, Tone has a question for your rap sheet. Yeah, I do.
Starting point is 00:29:51 Yeah, I do. Adding injury to insult for the Chargers lost to the Cardinals on Sunday was an injury to Ladd McConkey, who was doing great. Five for 82, I believe. if Justin Herbert was targeted him left and right and then in the fourth quarter or before the fourth quarter he goes out and their offense goes to absolute shit. What's the latest update on Ladd? Because that's a huge injury for them. It sounds like this is one that's going to be evaluated this week, which is to say day to day, not like anything significant. So that's good. You know, it's a rib injury. Is it a, you know, a little pull? Is it a fracture? I think it's, it is in the rib area and seems to be acute and not major, not significant.
Starting point is 00:30:29 They listed in his chest, which of course makes me be like what internal organs did he hurt. But no, it's just a rib. We'll see if he plays this week. A lot of times guys do with this injury, but it's going to be more day-to-day. And by the way, talking about, you know, the hype and reporting and everything and all that, I went on our pregame show and talked about how Mike McDaniel can call plays that he's never been able to call because of Justin Herbert's arm, which is all true. and then they went out and looked bad and I'm getting roasted on the internet.
Starting point is 00:31:01 So this was a bad game all around for everyone, including. Yeah, man, getting roasted on the internet really stinks. Yeah, yeah, man. One day you'll learn. I'm sure they came after you for that one, man. I'm sure you're getting absolutely killed. The internet used to be like my favorite hobby. I can't even go on there anymore.
Starting point is 00:31:20 It was awesome early in the early days. I just get murdered on there. And then look, I'm like, like, why are you saying you never watch this? You've never tweeted about sports before in your life. What are you? Get out of my world. I'm just trying to talk about sports.
Starting point is 00:31:33 A lot of bots. I'm a hot bat right now. The NFL been back. Yes, it is. I mean, these bots, if they are bots, incredibly clever, and seemingly very personal attacking. You know, it is, it's been a fun run on there. But we never want you to get made fun of on the internet, okay?
Starting point is 00:31:48 There is a man who is a lightning rod in real life and on the internet, and we got a chance to ride that experience again. And we didn't really get, I mean, a lot of info out of a senior yesterday. Sure. But remember, Senior still has J.J. McCarthy conversation happening around him. So Ty has a question for your rap sheet. Yeah, Seniors' judgments clouded when it comes to this because he wants J.J. McCarthy in there. But Rapsheet, what are the odds that Carson Wentz kind of takes the reins on this Vikings' offense and just runs with it?
Starting point is 00:32:19 He looked great yesterday. Obviously, with the way concussions are these days, we have no idea how long Kyler will. be out or if he will be out. What are the chances that Carson Wentz? I mean, I assume he'll start against the Bears this week, but if he plays well again, are we looking at Carson Wentz, QB1 in Minnesota for the foreseeable future? You know, I would be surprised at that. I think with Kyler, you know, it's, it sucks.
Starting point is 00:32:42 I mean, obviously it sucks most for him. But, you know, everyone was looking forward to seeing the different dimensions this offense can have with a really dynamic quarterback who could move to move to the throw, which is really the fun stuff. to run is great, move to throw in the pocket. That's like the really fun stuff. I'm still excited about that. Minnesota is still excited about that. I'd be surprised if Carson took the reins and ran with it. I'd be surprised if he was the starting quarterback because Kyler is going to come back and I would expect it to be him. But what we did see, we know, we spent so much time,
Starting point is 00:33:16 not we on the show, but also we on the show, talking about J.J. McCarthy versus Kyler. and we really saw why Kevin O'Connell trust Carson Wentz like this. He's 34. He's been through it. He's seen everything. The ability to go in there with minimal reps and just be really good is like, and I mean, he just rolled. Like that was impressive.
Starting point is 00:33:37 This is why he's the backup. Like I still believe JJ can be really good eventually. Like we've seen quarterbacks take far more circuitous routes. But man, Wentz was awesome, awesome on Sunday. Yeah, and I think he knows the offense, right? At least he understands what it's supposed to be. to be because he'd been there the longest out of, you know, at least over Kyler. And maybe Kyler gets an opportunity here to watch the offense run, too.
Starting point is 00:33:58 Gets a chance to kind of watch some film for the Vikings, because remember, he just got dropped in this past off season. You're the starter for the Vikings. Obviously, it doesn't go great to start this entire thing. We've got to turn over, and we've got a concussion in this. Now he gets to sit back and watch maybe Carson operate. And then whenever he gets dropped in there, maybe it goes even better. But if Carson Wentz just starts dealing, they had, what, he's the first backup
Starting point is 00:34:21 up quarterback since 1950 to come in and have three touchdowns, zero interceptions. If he does that again against the Bears, which is possible. Bears, Panthers just put up 37 on the Chicago Bears. Not that we don't respect the Carolina Panthers offense. They might
Starting point is 00:34:35 have found something down there for real. Bryce Young might have had his come out moment last year and he might be on the trajectory of being great. New play caller there too, by the way. Where? Down in Carolina. Yeah, Bradwick calling the plays now. And that offense is awesome. Well, that's what everybody's obviously complimenting
Starting point is 00:34:51 the Bears, as we should, just a phenomenal performance on the offensive side. Ben Johnson calling a shot. Caleb Williams looking like a Ben Johnson quarterback more than he had looked last year. But on the other side, Carolina Panthers brought up a lot of fucking points. I mean, they had a great start to their season as well on the offensive side. If they get some stops, hey, remember the Panthers. It's a good football team. Which makes us obviously have even more respect for the Chicago Bears because they obviously get a huge win because we like the Panthers. But if Carson Wentz comes in there beats the bear, that's a hard. thing because what is your loyalty to
Starting point is 00:35:23 Kyler? He was a fan when he was a kid and we brought him in. Yeah, okay. Okay, we respect that, but the real loyalty is to the team. So if Carson Wentz wins games for them, I don't think they're in any rush to go back. That's what it is, bro. That is what it is. We lived it. We actually live this thing
Starting point is 00:35:41 with Carson here in Indianapolis. Loved it. Yeah, he does have good ball security. Yeah, but he looks better now. You know, like he looks better than he did. I feel like so. Ten four, yeah, he threw Three touchdown, zero interceptions. I mean, I didn't see one time where he balanced himself on the football, on the field. No. I didn't see him try to bounce a football off of an opponent's helmet just because he wanted to in the middle of a play.
Starting point is 00:36:02 I didn't see any of that stuff. One game, guys. It's not quite mallard hunting season yet either. That's when it really kind of goes sideways. Yeah, Minnesota's way too cold for him to be hunting ducks. A couple months here. No, it's already over. Minnesota, way too cold.
Starting point is 00:36:15 Those ducks ain't flying. You remember last year, first weekend when the tags came out, he's got his pick up. September 26th to the total members went to... Yeah, but the only ducks in Minnesota are the mighty dogs. The mighty ducks are the only ducks in Minnesota. That's a fair point. It's way... I mean, in no offense, to Carson Wentz or the duck hunters,
Starting point is 00:36:34 I assume for a duck to survive in Minnesota, it's going to have to be a slow fat duck. Yeah, probably. Yeah. So that's probably a... Yeah. Carson is going to be... Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack.
Starting point is 00:36:46 He's going to love... He can't help. So insulting. You got... I'm assuming it's just fat ducks. I mean, how could you survive? It's so cold up there. That's not even a nice thing to say.
Starting point is 00:36:55 The fat ducks? I mean, you smoke their meat every day. What are you talking about? You're smoking ducks meat every single day. I love duck. Yeah, that's not, that's a big fan. That's disrespectful, too.
Starting point is 00:37:07 What you're doing them, this duck, whatever the case is. It's what they're there for. Tyler got Call of Duty coming. Is Collie coming? Yes, it is. Oh, yeah. Carson's got duck hunting season coming. J.J. McCarthy might still be in this thing.
Starting point is 00:37:18 We'll see if these guys can remain focused. coming. But if Carson, oh, I didn't even think about that. Nine seasons already be done. I mean, Kevin O'Connell's going to have to balance their all. They got Max Brosmer, the hometown kid. They might have to turn to him. Well, we don't know what his vice is either. Yeah, no, I know. I mean, we have no idea. But if Carson wants to plays good football, I don't know why Kevin O'Connell would think about changing anything at this particular point. It's big if. So I guess we just kind of ride it. Now, Big If, also, turning to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Starting point is 00:37:45 Yeah. Joey Porter Jr. is not on their team. What the hell is going on? Oh, man. But. Frabshee, we obviously got a bunch of corners paid this offseason. We thought JPJ was going to be the last one paid and then the injury popped back up. He didn't play week one. What's the most recent update with JPJ out in Pittsburgh?
Starting point is 00:38:05 All right. So what the team has said is that he's ramping up. And, you know, he didn't practice all camp. So he's got to get into shape. And obviously, you never want the soft tissue injuries. He want to make sure a guy has a chance to ramp up. He also was dealing with a back injury, which is why he wasn't there at training camp. obviously um and then there's the contract part of it and so because the steelers don't negotiate during
Starting point is 00:38:28 the season when that didn't get done that was the end of it most other teams almost every other team you'd say okay well keep working on it but that's not going to be the case and what i've been wondering and what something i reported on on sunday is the possibility of a trade now we there are teams that are corner needy teams he is a very good player with a contract situation that's a mess they're obviously at an impasse. It's been not in a great place for a while. So does someone step up and say, we need a really good corner.
Starting point is 00:38:58 He's a really good one. These are guys are hard to find. I'm going to trade for him. Pittsburgh has been open to trading him. The interest based on their price has been not there yet. But definitely one to keep tracking on who he ends up playing. Rapshry, which teams out there top of the list or maybe something you've heard already?
Starting point is 00:39:18 Chiefs got a guy hurt last time. riots? Yeah, I mean, chiefs will see because if Delane is hurt, and I mean, look how, you know, Bread Beach will make a trade.
Starting point is 00:39:31 He'll be risky. He will make a trade. Lyons lost Terry and Arnold. That would be another one I'd keep an eye on. You know, I mean, there's, that's one interesting thing here is we don't know. It's really significant.
Starting point is 00:39:47 That's a good point. And so, oh, no. Yeah, I think so. Do we lose it? There you go. We're back. Hold on. We're back. Anyway, we don't know which team is going to lose a corner or have a significant injury.
Starting point is 00:39:58 And so definitely something to keep watching. Who's driving you right now? I got my buddy over here. Yeah. Oh, okay. Use yourself. Hey, when you got into a car, do you say you shut up and keep it cooling here? Turn the air down.
Starting point is 00:40:16 No, I was like, oh, don't worry. I might be doing an interview, so just don't worry about it. And he said, he or she said interview. Why are you famous? And you said, yeah, shut it. Is that what you said? In my nice tone, yes. I also turn the air conditioning up here just so to make sure I look all going on.
Starting point is 00:40:36 I did a little Peloton before this. We're really proud of your rap. You seemly got it all figured out. Honestly, yeah, it feels like you got to figure it out pretty good. We'll see. We'll see. Maybe one day you've got a senior, especially like to take that jump from. junior senior, like a lot has to happen.
Starting point is 00:40:53 You got a senior. We already got a senior. Yeah, we're not talking about now, bro. Yeah, geez. Easy, pal. Oh, geez. It sounds like that is right in the back of your mind that while you're on that pellets. Yeah. He's got a picture of shifty. He just doesn't know. No one's job safe, though, right? Keep going, brother. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What the hell?
Starting point is 00:41:09 Whoa, whoa, we don't like that. We like the two junior or senior at the top kind of doing their thing there. But senior would have gave us at least a team or two that was at least snoop in a rock. Always does. And that's kind of the thing. It's got to be a team that wants to pay him, too. I gave a team or two.
Starting point is 00:41:24 No, not really because your service cut out, because you and the driver that you said, don't talk to me. He told the guy to shut the hell up. Yeah, and the guy said, you know what? How about you shut the hell off? Let me turn to the no service part of town. I'm driving in New York City. How could there be no service?
Starting point is 00:41:39 Like, how is that possible? Happens every day. Yeah, it's crazy to think about, you know, that city is, it all figured out, I've been told. Starlink was supposed to take care of us. Starlink is not even there. Well, I think in the city, actually, it's worse. Doesn't work.
Starting point is 00:41:49 It doesn't work. Much traffic. Yeah, Starlink actually works like where there's nothing. Fucking rural areas here, pal. That's why you... Really? Yeah. City, not a Starlink.
Starting point is 00:41:58 Starlink, not a city thing. That is airplane, the greatest. Yep, yeah. Because you're up around a class. Right next to it. Yeah, you're kind of touching the satellite. Starlink satellite actually above every plane is just going like this. It's the clearest picture.
Starting point is 00:42:12 Best Face. It is... Wow, what a life changer. We're watching eight games up there on Starlink. In a city, though, that kind of gets caught up, you know? kind of like this right here. So we're frequencies. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:42:23 I mean, I flew back from Delta and lost Wi-Fi for two hours, so Starling must be amazing. Well, I think there are some planes companies from my understanding that won't make the switch over there. Yeah, I think for some reason,
Starting point is 00:42:36 I don't know. I think we do know why, but I think we don't know why. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. That guy just wore another in D.C. and just kind of started. Danny? A little bit.
Starting point is 00:42:48 He just wore over there. Yeah. I figured out digital payment systems at the beginning. I figured out rocket space. I tried over the biggest platform on Earth. Yeah, I'll go to D.C. just figured that. I'll pissed off. I mean, everybody.
Starting point is 00:43:03 I saw a Tesla driving dropping off at preschool. Had a bumper sticker on the back that said, Elon with a line through it, driving a Tesla. Right, so it doesn't get keyed. Exactly. Hey, I'm on your side. I didn't know. That was happy.
Starting point is 00:43:19 Yeah. It was. That was a... Any sneaky tool. Yeah, yeah, Delta. Yeah, exactly. Hell yeah. Yeah, he might have been driver behind his thing,
Starting point is 00:43:25 but he was the engineers that made it, of course. And then slap it. It wasn't me. Don't do it. Please. I like it because I think we're supposed to be helping the world, but I didn't buy into all the other stuff. That's kind of something, though.
Starting point is 00:43:36 You do kind of just get linked with every decision that somebody's doing. Certainly. Every single time. It feels like a weird time to be alive. We're lucky to be here, though. Conman has the last question for you here, Rapsheet. Yeah, rap sheets. Some interesting news yesterday.
Starting point is 00:43:49 from your senior. Drew Breeze was going to play for the Denver Broncos in the AFC title game. What is that situation? Is that real? How close did that get? Or is that just one of those things? Shepter was, you know, just letting people know, hey, this could have happened. I don't like that.
Starting point is 00:44:06 I mean, I think what I wanted with this story was I wanted a good Photoshop of Breeze in a Broncos uniform. I didn't get it, which I was a little upset about. But I think one thing that sort of happened last year was the Philip River's comeback kind of showed all of us that anything is possible.
Starting point is 00:44:24 I mean, Tom Brady's an owner now, obviously, and can't play, obviously. But, like, I kind of do wonder if he could. So the thought of Drew Brees at 47 coming out and playing is crazy. But, like, I get why the Broncos reached out to him and were thinking about it because, like, probably could almost do it. And anyway, it would have been fun to see. So this is real. Okay.
Starting point is 00:44:49 Anybody else get asked? Like Peyton? Has Peyton ever get asked? I'm sure. Really? Don't you think? Although by the end, he was not in a great place. Okay.
Starting point is 00:45:02 This is Ian Rappapagos. I mean, eight. He's got lines. Yeah, but Philip Rivers. I mean, we were calling, I think everybody was kind of saying a lot. Yeah, they were saying that for Philip's last 10 years in his career. Yeah. So maybe these guys get out of the game.
Starting point is 00:45:18 I'm not going to say. they try any science or anything, but maybe they get out of the game, maybe they get a little bit more healthy. Obviously, Drew. Maybe so needs a punter. I was asked. I mean, that happened multiple times. Yeah, that did happen multiple times. We told that story.
Starting point is 00:45:31 What was the last time? No, it was after COVID. COVID was the biggest one because we were too good at staying away from COVID. I didn't have the antibodies. So I would have had to have the eight-day hotel lockdown. And they needed me that weekend. So that would have been a super- Wait, you almost did it?
Starting point is 00:45:50 Like, you would have done it? Tampa Bay Buccaneers had punter and kicker whenever Tom Brady was down there, Bruce Ariens head coach, a bunch of my coaches from the Colts were down there. And they obviously had seen me kick field goals in practice throughout my entire career and obviously punt. So they had kicker and punter go down with COVID. So I get a call. It's like, hey, obviously a lot would have to happen. We'd have to trade with the Colts for you, yada, yada, yada.
Starting point is 00:46:15 But first things first, we've got to find out if you have the antibodies. Can you see if you have the antibodies? because if you have the antibodies, you can bypass the eight-day hibernation thing that has to happen because we need you for this weekend or whatever. So what, I pricked my... Yeah, you know.
Starting point is 00:46:30 I found, I pricked my blood, and we all just kind of stood around this thing as we were waiting to see if I was going to be kicker and punter, which first time I never did that in the NFL. Oh, my God. For the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with Tom Brady as a teammate in four days. I think it was like four days from then or whatever.
Starting point is 00:46:44 Comes back, negative on the antibodies. We're doing too good. Aren't we? We're six feet away. incredible right we weren't even making eye contact when they were telling us not to make eye contact if we would have done that i potentially tampa buccaneer super bowl champion i'm part of the boat braids you're wearing a super bowl ring and also both the guys came back past didn't have it so i would just spend in sweats on a sideline go boys go boy i want to have to do anything and i would have a super bowl champion but instead we had too much respect for covick we had the proper well i don't know anymore we really we appreciate you brother uh have a sit you're driving really far i hope you get to wherever you're headed and thank you for joining us today me too thank you guys always fun to hang and i'm glad we had service for a lot of this you're right shout out of Elon but also yeah don't keep my car ladies jemmy you're up for me ladies you gentlemen obviously the nfliped up
Starting point is 00:47:36 week one but college is delivering every single weekend Thursday night obviously kicks off another weekend of college football this saturday lane kiffin and ls u travel up to olmiss college Game Day will be there. But what happened last weekend? What do we need to know? What are the main topics of college ball? Well, to do that is the host of College Game Day, both basketball and football, a man who loves the sport of college football, a man who has a lot of influence in the sport of college football, as he should. Legend icon, ladies and gentlemen, Reese Davis with Reese's pieces. Hey! What's going on, Reese? man glad to be with you guys again and uh i noticed there that rap started to try some beef with
Starting point is 00:48:20 Elon Musk that was fun yeah that was dead yeah he did try to bring up Elon a little bit but you know that's uh this program versus other programs we will dabble in those things that we don't know the entirety about and that has been a problem for us along the way that's why we bring in people like you to help us out reese this weekend what was the story and what do you think college football is really buzzing about right now you know I think it's buzzing about what you just said about Lane Kiffin's return to Ole Miss. And I saw something last weekend path that I think might be important come Saturday night in Oxford. Sam Levitt, as great as he was opening weekend when we saw him field level against Clemson,
Starting point is 00:49:01 had some issues against Louisiana Tech. He threw three interceptions, two of them in the red zone. This one you're seeing going back 100 yards against Louisiana Tech. They turned the ball over four straight times. We've seen how effective Sam Levitt can be running, but can Ole Miss turn him into a pastor and say, you're going to beat us time after time after time, throwing the football, we're going to make you make another play.
Starting point is 00:49:23 Now, Ole Miss hasn't been great against the run. They let Lincoln Keenholz run on them from the quarterback position a little bit. But if they can do this, I think this could be a big factor in the game because Trinidad Chambliss, I think, is going to, even against that great LSU defense, going to get his. So is Sam Levitt? going to be able to stay away from the mistakes and beat them throwing. And he's a big deal.
Starting point is 00:49:46 Those interceptions against Louisiana Tech raised a little bit of an eyebrow for this weekend for me. And we've seen him turn the ball over some at times in his career. There are a couple of other games this weekend, I think, that are being a little bit overshadowed because of LSU and Ole Miss. The first one I think of is SMU and Louisville. And through two weeks of the season, what we've seen from the two quarterbacks in this game, you've seen the top two guys in the country and total offense in Kevin Jennings from SMU and Lincoln Keenholz from Louisville, the guy we just talked about who was effective
Starting point is 00:50:20 both on the ground and throwing the football against Ole Miss. I think that these two teams, winner this game you look at as maybe the best challenger to Miami, and Miami plays neither of them in the regular season, so we might see this somewhere down the road. I'm really looking forward to this game because what we've seen from these two in the first two weeks of the season. Explositive offense, I think they're going to go up and down the field too. It's a game on Friday night in the Big 12, Houston at Texas Tech. Now, if this were on a Saturday and there was no such thing as LSU and Ole Miss, we might be making our return trip to Lubbock. This is a really big game in the Big 12. But both of these teams so far
Starting point is 00:51:01 have struggled against Oregon State. Oregon State under a new head coach to Marcus Shepard. They went to Houston, gave the Cougars everything they wanted until the fourth quarter, and then when Texas Tech went to Corvallis Saturday night, they did the exact same thing. A little side note here, I know we like to keep up with the rising stars. Have you guys noticed this wide receiver from Oregon State? Jesse Legree went over 100 yards against both of these guys and put 240 and two touchdowns on Texas Tech Saturday night? My first thought seeing that was, man, what a great job.
Starting point is 00:51:35 Jamarca Shepard did recruiting him. He's a freshman from Baltimore. And then my next thought was, he better keep recruiting. Because I imagine I'm not the only one that noticed the productivity so far. And then the last thing, and I have to offer a bit of an apology for this one, Oklahoma State and Oregon. I think Oklahoma State coming off that loss to Tulsa against Oregon at home. Drew Mestemaker told his teammates, you've got to forget about this stuff. And then went out and bawled out.
Starting point is 00:52:04 overcame mistakes and then put his body on the line to get into the end zone late, and they beat the ducks. Now, Oregon, to me, is at a crossroads. They've got a get right game against Portland State. Last week, when you guys were kind enough to have me on, I was like, I'm not worried about Oregon. I know they didn't look great against Boise State. I was wrong about that. I'm officially worried about Oregon. Oregon looks sloppy. They look complacent. And they look a lot more like Clemson and Penn State from last year. teams that had high expectations that came nowhere close to them, than they do say Notre Dame a couple of years ago, dumped a game and came back and made it to the national championship game.
Starting point is 00:52:42 And also the Oklahoma State people have been upset, Pat, because we were doing the warm-ups. Actually, I think it was before we talked to landing on Saturday. I made a comment, sort of a snarky one admittedly. Oh, no. It said, Oklahoma State, it won 30 straight home openers, and I was really glad I got that note in because it was about to come to a screeching halt.
Starting point is 00:53:02 I was wrong. I was wrong about that. You said that? I didn't even hear that. Yeah, I was wrong about that. It didn't. Now it's 31. I wish I would have heard that.
Starting point is 00:53:11 I would have been like, whoa! Steve said something along the same line. That would have been spectacular. I'm sorry I missed that. We had that great AT&T connection with Dan Lanning. He hits the crossbar for a $550,000 donation. I think we're all thinking like, okay, Oregon feels like they're back, had a mishap. Now they're going to do their thing.
Starting point is 00:53:31 What a special game by a globe. mistake, actually, as they're trying to rebuild an entire program right there in a whole new chapter, a whole new era. I enjoyed that for them, and that's just a part of what makes college football great. Now, on that note, you can't have one loss early in the season and still do everything you want to accomplish. New coordinators over there, offense and defense for Dan Lannning. Is he able to eyeball who's the right coordinators and hire them and continue that turnover that's going to happen at a top program? I guess we find out. There's certainly been misses a coordinator position hires and has set teams back.
Starting point is 00:54:03 And then, like, when you realize it, shit, we've already put so much into this. How could we have a guess we have to adjust? And if they were to have that situation continue to broil, that would suck for all the guys that went back to Oregon this year to kind of do this thing together. And it ends up the way it does. Now, as you were talking, Ty Schmidt just kept saying, hey, yeah, yeah, yeah, what's going? Yeah, Reese, I just wanted to say you did miss that Virginia Tech is officially on, you know, lookout mode because they might win the ACC because James Frank. is officially back on his bull spit. Hey, Coach, Michael House with the Baltimore son.
Starting point is 00:54:37 Hey, Michael. Hey, Michael. What do you remember about working? Hey, Michael. What do you remember about working along the side? Michael, how you doing? Can you hear me? Yeah, I'm saying, how are you doing?
Starting point is 00:54:54 Good, how are you? Good, good. What do you remember about working alongside Coach Loxley in those early years at Maryland? How is your relationship evolved since then? Yeah, hey, why don't you say hello? So, Ty, you just wanted Reese to understand that James Franklin is in complete control down there in Blacksport? Yeah, I think he was just, he was kind of trying to find his footing a little bit. This is the James Franklin from Penn State that I know.
Starting point is 00:55:17 And that's how if you're in the ATC, you should be, oh boy, he's back. The bad man's back. And I don't know how many, you know, top five teams they have on their schedule. So look out for Virginia Tech. Press conferences and certainly get a lot of convoes in college football right now. You know, Reese, anything you thought maybe you were going to put on the fringe there that needs to be brought up or mentioned? That isn't maybe James Franklin's press conference? First of all, James is going to be testy whenever they play Maryland because he was coaching waiting there one time they didn't hire him.
Starting point is 00:55:47 He stuck it to him with a late touchdown. His time expired in a 44-7 game a couple years ago. He's always going to be a little edgy whenever his teams, wherever they are play Maryland. I think the other thing, Pat, is you start with a little bit. looking at teams with high expectations and ones that don't deliver. That Oklahoma performance at Michigan was ungood. I mean, credit to Michigan, man, their offense looks a mess, a mess, you know, for Mateer and the guys that they have coming back.
Starting point is 00:56:18 So I think we find out a ton about Oklahoma, not this weekend, but the next when they play Georgia, and we'll find out everything about Oregon when they play USC in a couple of weeks. And credit to Michigan, by the way, that was a, I know they won the first game. They're undefeated, but that was a great answer after all of the controversy from a week ago against Western Michigan. Congrats to Michigan fans getting a chance to celebrate a big time win over the SEC and over Oklahoma. And now the Western Michigan stuff is just in the deep, deep pass. Wittingham's era has now officially started. That's kind of how we're all going to view it as we move forward.
Starting point is 00:56:52 And this thing is just flashing because I think it's trying to be like what Texas was like on Saturday night. What a win. What a comeback, Reese. And we were sitting there at halftime talking, especially after the third down where Relique Brown doesn't get the first down. He's a yard short. And then fourth down comes, end around. And Ohio State takes advantage.
Starting point is 00:57:10 Jeremiah Smith had like 112 yards in the first half. And multiple times, it's like, this Ohio State team, they're getting the ball coming out of half. We thought that was dead in the water. We thought Sark, Texas. Yeah, right. Another egg was kind of laid. Instead, now Arch has three top 10 wins down there at D. are. Now Texas has maybe the best comeback we might see all year against the number one team
Starting point is 00:57:34 in the country. And now it has us all believing, like, maybe Texas has it this year. Your thoughts after that game ends, what goes through your mind immediately? And what a special, special environment to be a part of. So lucky to be there. It was fantastic. Heat, speaker in your ear, everything. Even so, it was fantastic inside that stadium Saturday night. And And, you know, seeing Arch run around celebrating afterwards, it was like a billion pounds have been lifted off of his shoulder. And I'm really excited to see now if maybe we see complete and free Arch Manning, because there were a couple of times watching the game.
Starting point is 00:58:14 And, hey, look, man, you guys who played forgotten more ball on the last five seconds than I'll ever know. But it almost seemed like at times. He wanted to see it open. And then he would try to overcompensate by just throwing it a thousand miles an hour. and it led to some inaccuracy. Does a win like that, that comeback kind of let him relax and really truly play to his potential.
Starting point is 00:58:38 So I think it was a great moment for Arch and a huge moment for Texas going forward. Yeah, and it felt like it was something that maybe that fan base needed because I don't want to repeat what some of the people in the stadium are saying at halftime. But boy, they were excited to see Sark maybe leave town. And then you have the second half that you have
Starting point is 00:58:55 in the fourth quarter that you have and all of a sudden it's like, yeah, this is what we've been. been waiting for. Now, DeBan has a follow-up about Texas. Yeah, Reeves, I got to actually every week, last week, I believe you said Notre Dame, LSU. Texas, are they the top team in the country now? And if not them, then who? I still, DeBot, I still have Notre Dame ranked number one. I put Texas number two because I wanted to honor the victory. But if you watch the entire game, and I realize it's a far greater opponent than anybody, Notre Dame's face
Starting point is 00:59:25 so far. But kind of watching the whole game, it was really, hard to get to the place where I think this is the best team in the country. They certainly have the best win and the best moment, but I think they have the potential to be right there. They've got other great opportunities, trip to Tennessee coming up. Tennessee, who I think is really good and maybe even better than I anticipated. But I don't have them on top right now just because the entire game, they didn't always look like number one. Okay, so you have a differing opinion than our guy. One half of the hammer, died. Cowboys put out his above average
Starting point is 01:00:03 pole, and guess what he has on top? Tone has, Texas is the number one team in the country in his above average pole because there are average polls out there. People that don't really know, it's like a 30,000 foot view. Above average is where Tone's living. He's at like 10,000 feet, 15,000 feet. Now there's some real dive-in deep folks that would be elite poll. This is just an above average poll,
Starting point is 01:00:29 and I think we're all kind of happy with it. I think we're all kind of happy with the above average pole of town. Tony, you've got Texas, Miami, Ohio State. You don't have Notre Dame up there, which obviously Reese likes. Your thoughts on your above average poll, which, by the way, you continue to look great with that. Thank you. I appreciate that.
Starting point is 01:00:45 And then also, I know you have a follow-up for Reese. Yeah, I do. Reese, I know there's different ways to do the pool and power rankings and stuff like that. In power rankings, I still have Notre Dame above Texas. But to your point, I couldn't discredit or not discredit, but not count the Texas win. I'm not saying you're not doing that or whatever. But having the best win in that comeback.
Starting point is 01:01:03 And then I didn't want to discredit Ohio State for a one point loss down in Austin when you basically controlled the entire game. So I didn't want to put Ohio State down all. But Miami has looked incredibly, incredibly just unbelievable so far this season. Notre Dame would probably come in there. Oh, Notre Dame Georgia is somewhere around number four. I was saying Notre Dame is probably bottom of your poll right there. Yeah, right around the bottom of my pool. Okay.
Starting point is 01:01:26 Where's Indiana? Has Indiana not done enough to sit on your pole? I use right down there, too, especially because North Texas just blew out Mullen's Boys in week two. North Texas is not a bad team, and IU handled them. I agree. That's Neil Brown down there, obviously. Backpacked Neil. So maybe Indiana is sliding up the above average pool.
Starting point is 01:01:44 And this is also like it's week two, okay? And it's kind of like who won the weekend situation? I thought Miami won the weekend, week one. Texas won the weekend here in week two. Oh, so that's how we need to be viewing your poll. Yeah, maybe not so much if it's a season-long pool. It's like a weekend warrior pole. Yeah, who won the weekend?
Starting point is 01:01:59 But a couple teams that did win this weekend. Talk about the Holy War, BYU and Utah. They both looked very, very good this weekend. Utah just absolutely dismantled Arkansas. And then BYU kind of workman type 28 point win. Sorry, not 20.1, 28 points they scored this weekend against Arizona and Noah Fafita. How do you feel about the pact? Or, sorry, Jesus, the Big 12.
Starting point is 01:02:22 Now that's right. Have a little respect, please. Big 12 might be the deepest in the wild. That's what I'm saying, especially after Texas Tech didn't open up the season, great. From what I've seen so far, I think BYU looks like the best team in the Big 12. And maybe Utah. Hold the phone. Maybe Utah's still be there.
Starting point is 01:02:38 Hold the phone. Have you seen West Virginia, buddy? Have you seen Hawkins running wild in Morgantown? Have you seen? Okay, go back to what you're saying. I'm sorry. I have. No, hey, we're going to find out about them next two weeks.
Starting point is 01:02:53 How about this opportunity that they have? And I think that Michael Hawkins and Cam Cook, or they're both in like the top 15, top 20 in the country in rushing, which is just what you would have expected from Rich Rod's offense. You got Virginia, then Oklahoma State. I mean, this could change very quickly. I don't think there's a lot of room from the top of the Big 12 to the lower part of the Big 12.
Starting point is 01:03:15 There are a lot of good teams in there. Not sure who's great yet, but I think there are a lot of good teams in there. Utah has certainly looked terrific so far. Even though where Arizona lost BYU, I think Arizona's a good team as well. Big 12 is obviously going to be a battle. Iowa State's tough. The Big Ten is kind of doing their thing right now.
Starting point is 01:03:34 You got snuck away with that one. Hey, that's Sighawk, baby. Survive in advance. You were scared to death. Oh, my God. You were scared to death. I mean, shame on the sports books for putting a 14-point spread on that game. That was just absolutely ridiculous.
Starting point is 01:03:50 But yeah, I tell you what, Iowa State impressed me. They lost, but they impressed me. Yeah, I mean, we were watching that from the bus. We were so pumped just to, we wish we had a camera on you for that because all of the things you have said about this particular Iowa State team. Bingo. Have been worse than anything you've said in the past about how just, well, their whole program collapsed. The only guy that cared about him left. And then he took everybody good out of there.
Starting point is 01:04:17 And it's like Iowa State beats Iowa in the first year of the Sighawk and his first year of the new area. That would have been awesome for you and for us, sorry, not for you. It would be awesome for us to ride alongside of you. But I would also, we would have called Tyrese and we would share all the state legends, obviously. They got a guy. Jimmy Rogers is a good coach. The Big Ten is a problem. The SEC obviously has its depth.
Starting point is 01:04:40 College football is electrifying and we are incredibly thankful and lucky for you, Reese. You're the best. Have a good one, brother. Likewise, you guys too. Always fun. Thanks for having me. That's Reese Davis and Reese. We're back on the other side. We've got a great second hour. Mike LaFleur the Cardinals. Brian Baudinger and more headlines.
Starting point is 01:04:59 See you then. Goodbye. A new podcast series from ABC Audio in 2020 goes inside a case that has captivated the nation. To many people, Luigi Mangione is a modern-day Robinhood. People were cheering. The demise of this person they'd never met, who was a father of two and a husband, and had a life and was just doing a job.
Starting point is 01:05:24 From the manhunt, ending in a McDonald's in Al-Tuna, Pennsylvania, to what authorities are saying about a possible motive. I'm ABC News legal analyst Brian Buckmire. Listen to Burdena Proof, Luigi Mangione, wherever you get your podcasts. It's the best. Week one of the NFL wrapped up. Week two of the college football, had an incredible weekend, and now all eyes are ahead to Thursday night, as we have Buffalo Bills hosting for the first time in Highmark Stadium.
Starting point is 01:06:03 A member of the Pat McVee Show will be up there on Thursday at noon for our particular program. Where and how and who is certainly up for conversation as an Amazon game, which we are obviously very respectful and appreciative of, but we certainly have been asked to be a part of the opening of High Mart and cannot wait to have a presence there, at least for the day of the program. who will be headed up there how will it be broadcast and where will you be? That's certainly
Starting point is 01:06:32 TBD. That is going to be an exciting little next couple days as we have to figure that out. Debutt! Maybe you? I hate the bills. Whoa! That's a good Josh around. Okay, that's nine-year NFL for that
Starting point is 01:06:49 Darious Daybutt. Let's head over the toxic table at Boston Carter and at Ty Schmidt. Conband. I wouldn't say No, I think it's a possibility. I will be wearing Patriot stuff top to bottom, as I would have to. But still, I mean, I'm Mark Day and brand new. Those look pretty cool from the outside.
Starting point is 01:07:06 It looks very cool. And obviously we're asked to be there, so we would like to uphold that. Obviously, Friday, going to be down there in Oxford, Monday, going to be in Los Angeles. Thursday. We'll have some presents up in Buffalo, which we are honored and thankful to be a part of. Can't wait to showcase all of ball all season. I said that last night. I can't wait to celebrate football all year.
Starting point is 01:07:26 I am getting an incredibly lucky opportunity here. Saturday, the biggest college game. Monday night, the biggest NFL game. It's like we need to enjoy the hell out of this, but we also need to realize that what we've seen thus far doesn't mean a damn thing long term. Now, college and NFL, obviously Indiana, weren't completely undefeated last year.
Starting point is 01:07:45 And the Seattle Seahawks, I guess they lose their first game. But other than that, early in the season, we saw quickly that they were a good team. So over these next first couple weeks, you certainly need to see something. That gives you the hope that they could go on to win it all. But if your team look like shite week one or week two, that does not mean that's forever.
Starting point is 01:08:03 I'm looking at you, Oregon. Oregon's team look like absolute shite, week one and week two. Skid by Boise State, lose Oklahoma State. They could still win out and accomplish everything that they want to accomplish ever there in Oregon. That is just very real. And in the NFL, it's the same damn thing. The odds on Super Bowl favorites look the worst out of everywhere.
Starting point is 01:08:25 Their only team that didn't score in double digits. They have the MVP of quarterback, and they were one of the shortest odds to ever win the Super Bowl and Los Angeles Rams. Do we not think they're going to figure it out the rest of the way? We hope. We think. But there's a chance that all of these teams are absolute shite. That we think.
Starting point is 01:08:43 One half of the Hammer, dot. Cowboys AP tone. And then joining us live from an attic in Ohio is a man who's a college football national champion, Super Bowl champion, rider cup winner. Ladies and gentlemen, A.J. Ha! Hawker, how you doing over here? We turn the lights off as we are getting excited on the back screen for, you know,
Starting point is 01:09:02 the next week of NFL and the next week of college football. Last night, incredible game in Kansas City for the Chiefs. Terrible game in Kansas City for the Denver Broncos. So many questions coming out of Denver, so much excitement coming out of Kansas City. Where do you fall after watching four quarters of football on Monday night? I think what I take away from, obviously this was unbelievable, watching him run all over the place was. was very, very fun, especially how physically is, how he finishes his runs are amazing.
Starting point is 01:09:30 But what about that Chief's defense? I know, like, I don't want to be the guy, oh, I played defense, so I got to talk about defense all the time. But I was very, very impressed by this Chiefs D. And I'm sitting there thinking, like, yeah, they used their top four picks this year to take defensive guys. And I think three of them, you know, had somewhat of an impact in this game. So, yeah, it looks like the plans are going well in Kansas City. And these guys really executed night one. Yeah, it was fun to be in there. Arrowhead was an electrifying. You talk about Kenneth Walker being an absolute beast. There's another running back that said hello to the NFL scene.
Starting point is 01:10:01 Not only week one, but I believe in the whole fame game. Is that where we saw him first? The game after that, I believe. Okay, so week, sorry, week one of preseason. We watched this man out of Notre Dame run like it's the Super Bowl, and we all immediately go, oh no, but now we're watching them. And his team, nowhere near as shite as everybody was expected. No.
Starting point is 01:10:23 Everybody thought this team was going to want. was going to what did the guy who covers the Arizona Cardinals say? They'd be lucky to steal one or two in the first 11 weeks of the season. Well, they want to know. Beating the Chargers who was everybody's darling coming into the year. The head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, ladies and gentlemen, Mike LaFleur. Yeah. What's up, guys?
Starting point is 01:10:48 Hey, I heard, I saw you in my monitor here watching us overreact to week one the way we were. Hey, these teams absolute shite maybe forever. These teams might be the best of all time. How are you managing? Obviously, the incredible start for your team. First game as an NFL head coach trying to continue to build on that success. Where do you sit right now after your first game having some success versus maybe a week ago looking ahead to what it could all be like, coach?
Starting point is 01:11:16 Yeah, you know, it's the next week, you know, and like we've been preaching since we got back in July. I mean, this is a week-to-week league. And, you know, I've talked to them about being where your feet are, and I thought they did that throughout training camp, throughout the preseason when we got back out of Glendale, back to Tempe for the rest of training camp. And then, you know, just focused on the first week. And, you know, so we put Sunday's game to bed and, you know,
Starting point is 01:11:41 starting to get ready for Seattle, obviously. Well, congrats on managing success this early in your tenure, especially with what all the expectations were. One of the off-season stories was Jacoby Brissette and the Arizona partners have a little bit of a contract dispute. that ends up getting done. Carson Beck had some success. You obviously have a new offense coming in there. Can you tell us about you're in Jacoby's relationship and the offense that he is operating for you? And he looks smooth out there. Jacoby, I wanted him to be the MVP when he was the starting quarterback for the Colts.
Starting point is 01:12:09 Then he got injured. He obviously has a wealth of knowledge, but what have you seen from him? And how quickly have you two gotten on the same page? Yeah, you know, well, I'll first talk about, you know, what I didn't know about him in terms of the person. And I always had a lot of respect for him as a player. Never, never obviously coached with him. But just like you guys, I mean, you feel like you've played them almost every year for what seems like a dozen years. And every time you go, you just know you're going to get good quality
Starting point is 01:12:36 quarterback play. And so having the ability to obviously get to know them once training camp started and start to build that relationship, I knew he was a great guy. So I knew there was going to be no issues there. And then I also know there was going to be no issues in terms of learning our sense. system. The hardest part about playing quarterback is a young guy coming in and learning the speed of the game and just how to play quarterback in the NFL. Well, he's done that. And so all it was really from our perspective was just getting on the same page of what he likes, what our verbiage is, what our language is, how we work our cadences, what our operation means to us. But when the ball was snapped, I mean, it was going to be a lot of the similar concepts that he's ran. So it's been awesome. You know, the way he approached it. I thought he was excellent on game day just with his demeanor, taking it at one point.
Starting point is 01:13:20 play at a time. His calmness helps me because I'm an absolute psychopath on game day. So, great. Although tightly wound, I didn't know that was the case. So what does that mean? How do you describe yourself? Because obviously, that can go different ways. There's people that get like angry and irritated easily. There's people that are like just super locked in and intense. How do you self kind of self-eval how your game day operations are? And is this how you're trying to be? Are you like, yeah, this is who I am. You just need to deal with it? No, you know, I try to, I try not to be that. I try to just obviously be in the moment.
Starting point is 01:13:54 I'd say that's probably strong, the psychopath, but no, he just, it was more about it. It was more of a compliment for him because of just, again, how even keel he is. Not to be confused with, you know, he doesn't got that, you know, fire, if you will, because he has that. So it was a good first step for him in this offense and in this team. But again, resetting right back to work. Jacoby was calling players meetings whenever Andrew Luck was the quarterback here in Indianapolis. That's when I learned like, oh, this guy is a guy. And then you learn about what?
Starting point is 01:14:24 He's Bill Parcells was like his mentor or whatever through it all. Obviously, New England goes through it. It's like what a perfect situation for a brand new head coach. Another great thing for an offense is having a 99 tight end. AJ has a question for you. Yeah, coach, he's talking about Trey McBride, obviously. He comes out and has a big week one for you guys. Can you talk a little bit about, I guess, what makes him special?
Starting point is 01:14:47 What makes this guy able to separate? And he seems to be great at the point of attack going and getting the ball, especially you talk about those 50-50 balls. But just such a good job using his body, I think, to box defenders out. But what does Trey McBride me to this team and this offense? Yeah, I mean, how long you got? There's no weakness to this guy. He's mentally tough.
Starting point is 01:15:08 He's physically tough. He's savvy. He's got incredible hands. I've been very fortunate, like we all have to be. around guys that have just great ball skills. He's right up there, if not the best I've ever been around. Like I said, he's got the savviness to him. Like he just has, it's kind of like I try to equate it to, you know, like Luca, you know,
Starting point is 01:15:29 like where he plays at his pace. And he's got that savviness to separate and then obviously the finishing skills to make the play. He's got the yak. And he's a great dude. He's a great leader. He works his butt off. and I think he's only improving. I love the way he just operates.
Starting point is 01:15:47 Like he has a big play, we're going to see it. We're going to know that he is pumped about said play. I like bringing that to a fan base. I like bringing that to a team. Can you tell me about the response from the Cardinals fans? Because I know you know this. You're the head coach there. You're normally not going to get a head coaching job
Starting point is 01:16:05 at a place that is set up good. You know, like they're not looking for a new head coach if everything is hunk of dory, you know? And you and I got a chance to talk at the World Cup. game. Shout soccer. That was good time. Shout soccer. Good times, man. It was a good time. It was a lot less stressful back then. I'm having a great time, by the way.
Starting point is 01:16:22 So I think you're talking about yourself for that particular thing, and we appreciate you joining us in the middle of trying to build a team. But whenever it's like, hey, the pressure of becoming a head coach and then at the Arizona Cardinals with what the NFC West already is, I was bringing up, you're like, no, I like where we're at. And I like what we're doing. Brand new practice facility coming right? I mean, we got
Starting point is 01:16:43 young stars seemingly playing well. Jacoby is on a very team-friendly quarterback contract, even though the whole conversation was out there. Can you tell me about how you feel and how you think fans feel? Going into the season, zero expectations, I think, from anybody. That beat reporter actually said that to us. I hope we're not breaking news to you. He was like, maybe steal one or two games in the first 11.
Starting point is 01:17:02 And it's like, okay, that is some, is anybody going to go to these games? Are you going to be able to do it? And then you win a game here. Can you just tell me about how it feels over there right now, as an Arizona card on, maybe outside view versus how it is actually for you in there right now? I mean, you know this. I don't really know what the view is outside because, again, after that game, you get on the plane, obviously just personally for myself, trying to answer all the texts that you got from family,
Starting point is 01:17:30 friends from everywhere you've ever been. And then you get home and you spend some time with your family, talk to your brother, you know, and then you wake up and you've got to get right back to work. Like you don't have time to think about what's going on outside this building. I hope, you know, not that we don't hear the noise and all those kind of things, but like you don't have time to think about it. So, but going back just kind of in terms of just the Arizona Cardinals in general, like I've always loved this place.
Starting point is 01:17:56 I, for whatever reason, I loved playing here. I was obviously in the division for seven years before, four with the Niners, three with the Rams. Had the playoff game in here in 24 when the fires happened. Honestly, the coolest game I ever been a part of was that playoff game versus Minnesota on that Monday night. when we got moved out of there. I love this city. I've loved living here.
Starting point is 01:18:17 They've been awesome to my family and myself, but more importantly, my family. I love our ownership. I love how committed everybody is. And then most importantly, I love these players. I mean, I know what happened last year, but I also know what happened in 24 when they were playing really good football. And they were right on the cuss of kind of breaking into the playoffs. And there was a lot of those same faces, particularly on defense. you know, so, you know, I like where we're at, but again, all where our focus is is one and all each week.
Starting point is 01:18:47 What a promo right there. Hey, that was a good speech, bro. I'm happy you're a head coach in the NFL. I was a good speech. I think the people of Arizona Cardinals fan. That wasn't a speech. That was just... Well, exactly.
Starting point is 01:18:56 That's what I'm saying. It's not a speech to you. You know, that's just your natural thoughts. But that was a... The message you just delivered to Cardinals fans right there is, I think, scratching every single itch that you could potentially have as a football fan. I'm happy that you're there guy, we love that city as well. Yeah. I mean, we are massive fans of that city. Now, you've done something
Starting point is 01:19:16 for the first time since Bill Coward did it in 1992, and I think this goes to even more of the national narrative versus, you know, your narrative inside the building. Biggest upset for a debut in culture history since Bill Cowher in 1992. So it's like, I appreciate you not hearing the noise outside. Nobody believed in you, okay? You can actually use that speech to the boys as you go ahead and we've all become fans of your team after watching just one game. Now you and how you operate. You talked about your demeanor. Debutt has a question for you. Yeah, coach, obviously you had the preseason, but was there, was there any surprises or anything you didn't expect your regular season head coaching debut? I know, you know, you got to have the challenge fact.
Starting point is 01:19:54 There's different communications now. Obviously, different media responsibilities. But was there anything that, I guess, caught you off guard during game day? And then also, what's the biggest challenge going from week one to week two? Obviously, we overwrecked from everything. What's the the biggest challenge in that building. Yeah, I mean, honestly, like when you asked me that first question, like you got the preseason. We had the extra game, obviously, because the Hall of Fame game. So I mean, something's going to come up at some point.
Starting point is 01:20:20 But as of right now, or as of this last Sunday, nothing really kind of caught us off guard. Again, you just try to remind yourself, you're not in this thing alone. Like you got a team behind you. You got your coordinators. You got the assistant coaches. You got your game management people.
Starting point is 01:20:35 And you're prepping with these people. people all weeks. So like you don't want to be caught off guard. And again, at some point something's going to happen and we'll have to make that adjustment. So, you know, again, that's kind of where we're at. And then you think about week one to week two. You got a lot of time.
Starting point is 01:20:52 I've seen it so many different ways. Some people kind of have a mock game week the week before, right, especially with not only three preseason games, you can truly do kind of that Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. You have to do it on different days because the league rules and all that kind of stuff, because you've got to give them the time off, Friday, Saturday, Saturday, Sunday. But we didn't do that. We went good on good still. We introduced some Chargers stuff
Starting point is 01:21:12 without them, without them really knowing. We were just doing it against our defense, you know, so it wasn't like totally brand new the next week. But now you get into it like all of us, all 32 teams, and we don't have, you know, all this time. It's a week. I know Seattle had a little extra time because obviously they played on Wednesday being the Super Bowl champs. But for the most part, everyone's just in it and, you know, they're in their routine and here we go. Sound like such an experienced coach. Obviously having a chance to be in a lot of different buildings gives you an opportunity to learn how it should go.
Starting point is 01:21:41 You sound like a 50-year-old man. Now, you got the face of a 12-year-old and a hair. I can't believe you're wearing a hat right now. We are so buckled. I told Mark Dalton, our media guy, said, I'll go on, but I'm wearing my hat. It's Tuesday. This is a game-plan day.
Starting point is 01:21:55 I don't do the hair on Tuesday. I respect that. I understand you got to do what you got to do. I watched a documentary on Pink. You know, Pink's hair is like, legendary. Someday she doesn't want to do it. You know, so she's got a hat on. That was a part of the documentary because her hair said that.
Starting point is 01:22:10 I like that that's kind of where you're at right now. It's like, hey, listen, I ain't got time to be on camera. This shit's everywhere. Whatever, it's not perfect. Okay, so I'm going to put a hat on and I'm in grind mode. And on that note, we appreciate you taking time. We do have some more questions, though, especially because it felt like it could have been an emotional
Starting point is 01:22:26 Sunday for a couple of people in the crowd. Go ahead, Ty. Yeah, coach, how special was it having your parents there being able to kind of witness your first win. And I am a Packers fan, so I'm just curious. You said you talked to your brother after the game. Did you get the opportunity to maybe talk a little shit to him and be like, hey, I have a higher career winning percentage than you do right now.
Starting point is 01:22:47 Sorry about that. And also, how much do you guys lean on each other during the year and has that change now that you are both head coaches and you're no longer a coordinator? Yeah, that was a triple question right now. Hit a ball. Had to get it in. Hit them all. And he's really mad at your brother right now to him, that guy that just asked that question.
Starting point is 01:23:08 It was great. You know, obviously, I have my folks there. And then after the game, they flew back with my wife and kids. So they'll be here for the Seattle game. And then they'll head back to Green Bay. You know, they live like a block away from Lambo. They live in Title Town there. So they obviously make those games quite often.
Starting point is 01:23:25 But, man, wherever I've been, you know, they love the places we've been. because we've been kind of obviously California with the Niners and Rams, and then you got the Jets, which is kind of a pretty cool, fun city to visit if you like New York City. So home is Green Bay, but vacation is wherever I'm at. So Phoenix, Arcadia, Scott, so it's been pretty cool for them. But no, it was a good moment. They left right away, so I actually didn't even see them after the game. Lauren was able to book a quick flight after to try to beat us home,
Starting point is 01:23:55 and we almost got home at the same time, so I was able to spend time with the kids. And then, yeah, talk to Matt right after. Obviously, you know, I actually did see the score early in the fourth quarter. So you think things are going well. And then I went through media and then saw the final. And that was that was that. So, you know, there was no crap talking there.
Starting point is 01:24:16 I mean, it sucks. Like I said in my press, or usually when, hopefully you both win, and then everyone's in a good place for at least like eight minutes, and then you move on to the next week. But when you lose, that's more of what you're talking. talking about. You know, so I was kind of asking more questions about what went down and all that. So, but we talk all the time. We talked a few times yesterday, you know, whether it's just floating ideas. We watch each other's tape because there are similarities just like I pop on the Rams,
Starting point is 01:24:42 just like I pop on the Niners, you know, just to glance it to see if there's anything that they're doing that would fit within our players in our scheme. Yeah, your natural answers are speeches. And you just said, yeah, when we win, we all have a good eight minutes or so. And then we know that our asses can get fired next week if we don't do the right job. Is that exactly how you feel? Yeah? Yeah, I mean, it's week to week. I mean, we all know what we signed up
Starting point is 01:25:08 for. So, I mean, that's, like, it is what it is. It's, it's, it's all noise. Sean McVade did a 60 minute interview. I saw one clip. Yeah. And they're like, well, how do you deal with the blah, blah, blah? And he goes, I'm going to be honest. We set this up today. We didn't have a good practice. I'm in a terrible spot. Piss right now. I don't like to read here right now.
Starting point is 01:25:24 It's like, you guys have to be psychos. Like, we have tried to explain that on this particular program about how like the people at the top of sports, all of them are just psychos. You have to be obsessive. You have to have that mindset. That's what separates you from everybody else. Arizona seemingly got a guy out here. Man, I am excited to watch your career. And I appreciate the fact that in the middle of your game, you look up. Okay, Green Bay's doing good. It's late. There's no way, Matt. There's no way. That's good. Go through the press. Big time win. First coach. Yeah. Hey, we're having fun. Get out there. You lost. Holy shit. That had to be devastating.
Starting point is 01:25:58 stating. Just immediately feel for your brother and what he's going through. Tye's going through the same thing, though. So just know that he's out there and Cardinals fans are going to be doing the same thing. Connor has last question for you here, Coach. Yeah, Coach, it was also really cool. One of the moments of the entire weekend, week one as a whole, was your team coming over to you as the clock was hitting zero and just celebrating. I think it was Trey McBride. I think Wingard as well was over there just kind of, you know, embracing you and just enjoying the fact that, holy shit, you guys won your first game of the season, your career. How cool was that for you to kind of feel that from your team? And do you feel as though
Starting point is 01:26:34 your culture is settling in already set in? And how did you kind of get that going so quickly? Because it truly was astounding. I mean, the stack got pulled up. It's the biggest win for a debut since 1992. How does that feel, especially being able to celebrate that with your team? Yeah, I mean, I love these guys. You know, and obviously some you've only known for. for seven, eight weeks, whatever it's been. Or I shouldn't say that, going into training camp with them, but getting to know them, obviously, when you got it in February,
Starting point is 01:27:05 but really getting to know their football character once you put the pads on how we're going to work in training camp. We got the right people. And that's a credit to Monty. He's brought in a lot of great people here. Unfortunately, a lot of those guys got hurt last year. I mean, there was a ton of injuries. That's not an excuse.
Starting point is 01:27:22 I wasn't even in the building. That was the reality. I was in LA, and that's what we saw, too. Like every game that you watch of Arizona, it felt like there was five or six new guys out there every week. And that's hard. You guys know what it's like to not have continuity. And you'd rather just play with just 11 guys
Starting point is 01:27:42 that you might not know their names, but at least if they played four weeks together, now they're communicating the right way. They're playing with the right play style. They feel off each other. So but again, the credit goes to money in terms of bringing in those right guys. And we're just, again, still just
Starting point is 01:27:57 just looking to build and get right back at. I'm excited to see them tomorrow, and we'll get the first installment of this Seattle game plan in. I just said that was the last question. I lied. Jeremy, I love you. Obviously, drafted running back very high. What have you seen from him?
Starting point is 01:28:09 Because I was scared, not that my opinion matters, I was scared to death with how he was running that first preseason game. I was scared to death. This guy's never going to make it. I mean, if this is how he's running in a preseason, he's got no chance. It's like, well, what was he running like in a preseason? Well, it was like every single play was his last play.
Starting point is 01:28:27 That's a great trait, not a bad trait at all. Can you tell me a little bit about Jeremiah and how you see his kind of career going and how we should judge him off of this season, like a fair way to kind of judge his season this year? Yeah, you know, that's a hard one for me, Pat. Like, I'm not going to put any expectations on him. I know that he's a great, I think he's going to be a really good football player. I think he's even a better person. I think that preseason game was so beneficial for him to learn some of the things that you're talking about in real time.
Starting point is 01:28:56 Like, my opinion, I know a lot of people disagree with me. I don't think you can put these guys in bubble wrap through the preseason, particularly the young guys. I know some people play vets a little bit more than others. We didn't. That is what it is. But for a runner, like you can't simulate that in OTAs in training camp. You just can't. They have to go out there and play a little bit.
Starting point is 01:29:14 And I thought, you know, it was very unfortunate that on the last snap, obviously, he went down. But I thought he learned as he went. And him and I had some really good talks about. about that half of football that he had, the 11 carries, the three catches. And I know he was in a really good spot, and he felt the same way. And also, it was good to get him back, get his feet wet. He'll just continue to improve because it's conditioning will continue to improve. When you're not playing football for a few weeks, I mean, you guys know that can happen, right?
Starting point is 01:29:44 You can't simulate it, you gotta be out there, you can't just be on the bike or the treadmill thinking you're going to get in football shape. So be able to get him back for the week leading up to it. I thought he was right at that perfect number kind of of reps. and we'll see where week two goes. He's awesome to watch. Also, the human spectacular. We've got a chance to learn about him, obviously, through Notre Dame and his whole story.
Starting point is 01:30:05 It's like, you say he's learning as he goes. Yeah, he's like, I mean, he's a Notre Dame guy. The guy's got a big brain. I expect, you don't want to put expectations on him? I will. Offensive rookie of the year. Boom. All right, you're the man.
Starting point is 01:30:17 Good luck making that happen. I just put that into the world. Sorry for the added pressure. Thank you for taking time out of your life after your first win. You're the man. Good luck out there. Ladies and gentlemen, the head coach of the Arizona
Starting point is 01:30:25 of the Arizona Cardiff, Michael LaFlor. You too. Yay, Coach. Dude, I would guarantee the last thing on earth he wanted to do was an interview. Probably.
Starting point is 01:30:36 But Arizona Cardinals in a big like, hey, we're a new organization out here. And I think he is a great coach for them. AJ, every answer, I said it was a speech. But when coaches talk, it's like, you hear their brain just naturally comes with the coach answer.
Starting point is 01:30:52 Everybody's like, is coach speak, this is cliche. It's like, no, that's how. of these dudes brains just operate. Like their answers are. You ask Kurt Signetti a question. There is any talk about music. Well, if you go back to what the bank of it, he'll go right into coach speak is what it, because that's who they are. He sounded like that with every answer there, AJ. I mean, that was coach through and through. Young guy, innovative offense. I think he does want a tough team as well. It's like out in Phoenix, if he's able to create a contender, a conversation
Starting point is 01:31:24 piece, a relevant team in that NFC West, I think they'll be very, very grateful. And he's got a young group of dogs over there, AJ, and they're doing it in all three phases, obviously. Yeah, and it's crazy. We're only through week one of the season, but just how we view the Cardinals now from where we viewed them, say, three weeks ago, it just feels so much different. And if they can continue to do this and they play the Seahawks, obviously a huge test next game, but I think he did a good job of explaining and showing what it's like, how
Starting point is 01:31:50 stressful it might be and how every single minute of your life is consumed by thinking of, hey, how do I, what do I need to do to make my team, give me the best they possibly can, like the best chance to win every single Sunday because it's wild, man, like these guys, the hours they put in and the, I guess when you hear him talk about his parents and everybody, like, yeah, if we both win, cool, we got eight minutes of happiness. We had eight minutes of all, this is great. And then boom, we're on to the next one. But that's truly, you got kind of how it has to be. Yeah, I mean, Nick Saven told us what. One national championship gets the photo.
Starting point is 01:32:22 Took 10 minutes. This is awesome. Thank you. Yeah, guys, you did it. I got to call some recruits. Yeah, we're accrued. Did you see what just happened up there with me holding that trophy? That's what I thought.
Starting point is 01:32:36 You see the boys out there? That's what we can do with you. Maybe bang, boom, boom, boom, right to the next one. Never satisfy. What is that, complacency? There's a complacency scale or something like that. And then obviously that's where the rat poison comes from.
Starting point is 01:32:47 What's rat poison? But just kind of reaping from what you've sown. just kind of having a good time. Just kind of using the benefits of being on top of the world, rat poison. So he even created something that was like, no. People complimenting you,
Starting point is 01:33:03 feeling good about yourself, rat poison. He even created something that eliminates that entirely after a win for everybody else. Just so everybody else understands how I feel. Everything that's being said to us right now is making us worse. So we need to put an end of this immediately. Michael Flore, your first game,
Starting point is 01:33:19 live in your dream as a head coach. Way to go. Yeah, we got about eight minutes of this shit. And then we got Seattle Seahawks defending Super Bowl champions coming to town. They're pretty good, from my understanding. And that's real. You do have to kind of live week to week. But I think they've got the right guy out there.
Starting point is 01:33:34 That was a great conversation. I didn't know what to expect out of that. Yeah. And like you said, week to week, and obviously we're going to overreact from week one because that's all we have. And him even talking about, you know, just how much time you have to lead up and ramp up and have your mindset right for that first game. And then once you kind of hit the – that was the biggest thing for me as a rookie
Starting point is 01:33:51 coming in, like just how fast the game weeks were. Like once you got back into that building, really Wednesday as another team, the complete pages were flipped. As a coach, you have to set the stage. You have to set clear expectations for what this week is, what this team is, what these challenges are, what our game plan is.
Starting point is 01:34:10 And now he's got to do that and you've got to have that team on board. The quarterback's got him be on board. So I'm excited for him. I will say after that interview, I feel much better about it, even after watching them play on Sunday, going forward. we kind of get a glimpse of who he is behind the scenes.
Starting point is 01:34:24 But I'm excited about the Arizona Carter's Butcher. Yeah, I like another of the floor in there as a head coach, Ty. I was going to say, you can tell he spent a lot of time around Sean McVey. Like, he kind of just feels very similar. And like he had the, you know, where he went off with Sala and was OC, and that obviously didn't go great in New York. But going back and being with Sean McVeigh and even if he wasn't calling plays, like you can tell that he has absorbed a lot of that.
Starting point is 01:34:48 Arizona Cardinals, we would have thought would be in our next second. here quick. AJ, I don't know if you've heard or not, but we are going to debut a new segment. We don't know how many weeks this will be a relevant thing. Sure. Because we don't really know. But as we sit here on this, football is the greatest Tuesday, September 15th,
Starting point is 01:35:06 2026, we thought it would be nice if we did just point out some things that are happening around the league. We can't always be positive. So we actually created a new division. Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the AFC-NFC-Shite division. Okay. Okay, this is four teams that we feel are absolute shite. And come from either conference, okay, but obviously it is a division, so it is four teams. How we see it right now.
Starting point is 01:35:32 And obviously, relegation, promotion, you can get in and out of this division. It's fluid. But this division certainly exists. Number one team, congratulations in the lead of the shite division, Cleveland Browns. Yeah, Cleveland Browns. It's actually named after that. Congratulations to Cleveland Browns finding themselves. on the shite division.
Starting point is 01:35:51 And although this is the first year of this expansion to the shite division, they know what it's like to be here. Now, they are looking to get promoted out of here, not looking for relegation. Todd Munkin kind of understands the deal. How many days these are 600 and some days since DeShon Watson's last start? Yes. Obviously, it did not go swimmingly down there in Jacksonville.
Starting point is 01:36:10 But the Jaguars might be really good. So Cleveland Browns could find themselves literally in the odd house, the shite division, and then maybe in the penthouse, the top of the AFC North over the next few weeks. Or they could find themselves at the top of the division, the Shite Division, for the rest of the season. Who knows?
Starting point is 01:36:31 They're not the only ones, though. Obviously, need three more spots filled in the Shite Division. The second team, congratulations to Tennessee Titans. Oh, AJ Canceling, Northern. Wow. AJ, you didn't want to overreact, you said, but when you were watching the Titans, you said, okay, this team, I'm canceling them, his exact words.
Starting point is 01:36:53 He was watching. I did not mean I was canceling. I was disappointed. I thought they were going to have a better showing week one. Okay, yeah, I mean, we can clarify things all the time, whenever you realize what you were doing, which was potentially overreacting, but nonetheless, Sala back in the shite division.
Starting point is 01:37:07 And what will he and Dayball do? We shall see. Could have been a tough first week. Also, Jets could be really good. Yeah. I mean, Jets could be really, really good. They're not the only two. Obviously, that's just half the division.
Starting point is 01:37:20 Ladies and gentlemen, the third team, being welcomed into the AFC-NFC-Shite division. I don't like it, not one bit. What? No. Who could have saw this coming? Oh, the Ravens. They're so good.
Starting point is 01:37:39 I didn't like this. There was a vote, league-wide vote, that found the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC-N-FC-Shite division. And I think it's because everybody that had a vote watched the game on Sunday. And we're in the building and watch Lamar Jackson have a career day. Derek Henry have a career day. And Zay Flowers have a career day while we're playing a half of football.
Starting point is 01:38:00 I don't like that they end up in the shite division. But once again, this is not a permanent division. No. There is always relegation and promotion. And I don't think the Colts are going to stay here. I think it was just one bad week. But historic days for three different people on the other side certainly warrant a shite division nominee.
Starting point is 01:38:18 And I guess the boys and I, even though I didn't vote yes, have put the Colts into the Shite division. Fun fact for the Colts, they haven't won a football game on U.S. soil since Halloween last season. So just wanted to throw that out there so everybody knew that. Against the Falcons. Half the AFC South, what is going on? Oh, hold on. Oh, hold on. This one week.
Starting point is 01:38:41 There's another team, though. It's all AFC teams. No, no, no. There's another team. This team's actually a Super Bowl favorite. What? No. Los Angeles right.
Starting point is 01:38:51 What? They're the only team not to score 10 points. They didn't score 10 points. That is the MVP. Only team not to do it. If they score a couple more points, we actually have a record-breaking week one. Instead, the team that we love with the offensive genius,
Starting point is 01:39:03 Sean McVeigh at the helm, and the MVP at quarterback with weapons galore, Don Under wanting to put on an international show, there's the only ones that didn't. In the entire NFL, somehow, some way. So, yeah, I don't like it because I do love when to start. are at. Bring them out. Bring them out. Bring them out. I like that that's happening. But now we got Miles Garrett on IR. Aaron Donald
Starting point is 01:39:26 potentially returning on Monday night would be a gigantic boost, I think, for the entire team, obviously. But yeah, I didn't like it. But when their name was mentioned, there was a hearty conversation. And we found ourselves with the Super Bowl favorites in the AFC-NFC-Shite division. So there it is, folks. AJ, your thoughts on the AFC-N-FC-N-C-Shite division is it sits right now after week one of the NFL season. So I cannot say that I disagree with any of these picks. I think this is very representative of where the league is at right now through week one.
Starting point is 01:39:59 But is this going to be a weekly seg? Are we having four teams every single week? I think there's a chance. We'll see. It could be like my poll where it's like the shite division from that weekend. Because obviously if you do it every week just based off how the team is, the Browns will be there every single week. But they might get a week. We don't know that.
Starting point is 01:40:15 That's why the shite division is unpredictable. They might get a win one weekend, so that week they won't be in the shite division. One week, we could do the bright division and have it be the top four instead of like a light. Like a light division, yeah. Kind of honor both sides of the coin. Yeah, outhouse, penthouse, shite house, bright house. That's sick. I mean, there's something to think about there for sure.
Starting point is 01:40:35 I only got one team on here. I don't feel too terrible about that. What do you mean? The chances are with me, I'm 400% more likely to have a team on here and you guys. I'm glad it's only once. But I am concerned, though. What if Aaron Donald just sees? is to say, you know what, fuck it, I'm not coming back.
Starting point is 01:40:49 He might. No, what do you mean? I mean, I would like to see you. I'm done. I'm retiring again. My team's on the shite division. I'm out. No, I don't want that. We all want to see Aaron and Donald play football again. He was happy retired. He was, wasn't he having a good time. But you know, you see him putting that work back in. Didn't have to travel to Australia. I think that's big ghost. Him and the Rams both boycotted international games, which I respect from.
Starting point is 01:41:09 Yeah, that was a bad performance. Lying them in the Shite Division. Listen, you could work your way. If I know Aaron Donald. Yeah, exactly. He wants to put his hard hat on. and he wants to go to work to get the lambs out of the shite. He's got all the double teams, all the triple teams now, no miles out there. True.
Starting point is 01:41:25 Holesy. Heavy lifting. All right. Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, is a 10-year NFL vet. I can't wait to get his take on the AFC-NFC Shite division on whether or not he agrees, disagrees. And also, is Aaron Donald going to be the one that potentially lifts the L.A. Rams back to being the L.A. Rams?
Starting point is 01:41:40 Or was it just a terribly planned trip to Australia and they played like shite? CITB. you, right? Ladies and gentlemen, the man from Baldi's breakdons, Duke alum, airline mastermind, Brian Baldinger. Hey, Bobby! You know, I was just watching a segment on the shite division, Pat. And it reminded me being back in college.
Starting point is 01:42:04 I was studying genetics. You know, when you study genetics, you study fruit flies. The lifespan of a fruit fly is seven days. Like, the NFL players are fruit flies. We live in seven-day life cycles here. You can get out of that. that shite division. Cleveland can go to Tampa and ruin their home opener right there. They'll have Warren Sapp on the sideline in Tampa. You can ruin that thing.
Starting point is 01:42:25 You can come back as a fruit fly. Come back every seven days. You just kind of relive yourself. Yeah, but some fruit flies are just shite every time. You know, and it feels like the bronze, they've been in the shite division long before the shite division even existed. I mean, they went to Jacksonville. Honestly, Trevor Lawrence looked like the MVP of the league in that game. There's nothing he couldn't do. Like, you watch the left guard, Emmanuel Pregnan just own Mason Graham and just give them one clean pocket after another. Like, I mean, that's a great catch by Parker Washington, but, I mean, it was 24-0 before you even got, you know, even got your refreshments.
Starting point is 01:43:00 It got to your seat. It was 24-0. It was so fast. Yeah, there's some teams that we don't know if they played the greatest team in football. For instance, the Colts could have played the 1972 dolphins in his Baltimore Ravens team. Lamar Jackson in command and control has a career day. Obviously still Derek Henry has a career day, runs himself up the record books. Zay Flowers has 150 yards, is wide open the entire time, and he doesn't even play the entire game.
Starting point is 01:43:27 There's a chance that the Ravens are the greatest team of all time. What did you see from Declan Doyle's Baltimore Ravens team that made them so successful? And can we expect this all year? Because if that's the case, first of all, electrifying show. I mean, we're live in the building. It's electrifying, but they could win it all. Could they not? Yeah, I mean, look, that offense from the first play, bootlegation.
Starting point is 01:43:46 to Zay Flowers, got him in the main coverage out there. Like he had his way, all that kind of space. You know, I call him a Zay-Hey kid, you know, like after Willie Maze. Like, he could just pick him up and put him down with the best of him. And you can't tackle the guy in the open field. But Declad Doyle had a great day. And they really solved the issue of the interior of this offensive line. They started this kid, Javon Gwyn, at center.
Starting point is 01:44:09 Vavaga Yawani at right guard, just owned the Forrest Buckner inside. They won the interior of that offensive line. so that, you know, the King could run wild. Lamar had time. They couldn't cover Zay Flowers. Like, you know, they got great contributions from a lot of guys that nobody even knew who their names or numbers were. And so I give Declan Doyle a lot of credit for just opening this offense up
Starting point is 01:44:34 and giving Lamar that feeling like he can be the MVP in this offense. We've got enough for you right now to be the MVP again. Yeah, and he was bought in, obviously, all OTAs, all spring, summer, he was over there learning new offense, buying into everything. And I think it was very evident that he is in complete control. He was a maestro. Oh, yeah. I mean, 73,
Starting point is 01:44:56 I forget the percentage. 73, 70, something like that. 73% motions, too. I mean, it's second highest. So I know motions are obviously a distraction for the defense to make things hard. But for the quarterback, he's got to remember all that shit. Okay, so he's got to be very comfortable. He's got to remember it all. And whenever that play
Starting point is 01:45:12 play clock's going down, there was like seven seconds left, and he was still doing two motions. on the play clock. Like the amount of confidence you have to have in that particular offense to do all that at the quarterback position. And then his swagger just walking in between plays, he was so
Starting point is 01:45:26 comfortable. And obviously, I think he has a lot of faith in the offensive line. But that offense as a whole, I think he knows it inside and out, even though it's his first time really running it, Maudy. I don't know if he broke a sweat. I'm just watching him right here. I'm just watching these highlights. They studied it yesterday afternoon.
Starting point is 01:45:41 But, like, I'm not sure he even broke a sweat in this game. But, you know, you just look at the you know, the speed that they have on the outside and some of the young kids, the young tight end that they picked up from Hibner from SMU. He was a factor in the game, run blocking, catching. Mark Andrews has been doing that thing for a long time in Baltimore. But you see all the movement, getting Lamar out of the pocket,
Starting point is 01:46:01 moving them like that. That's just smart football. Like, the guy is great getting out of the pocket and really putting the defense in a bind right here. And he never takes big hits, you know, because we always wondered, you can't play like that and survive, especially at the quarterback position. he can't survive, he can't survive.
Starting point is 01:46:17 It's like, well, some guys have the ability to not get hit. Now, let's pivot back to the shite division because the Broncos could have been on there, okay? And we didn't put him on there, but we thought there was one piece for that Chiefs team that could have been their big issue, and it turns out not at all. Go ahead, Conman.
Starting point is 01:46:31 Yeah, Baldy, going in and felt like the spotlight was on that left tackle spot, and then Khalil Benson, undrafted rookie out of Indiana. Pat mentioned it when he got introduced as a starter. He kind of owned the moment from that part of time on. for the rest of the night. Were you surprised by the fact that Nick Benito didn't dominate the game?
Starting point is 01:46:50 Are you more impressed by the fact that Khalil Benson in the game playing the Chiefs came out with was just to run the ball down their throat and dominate from start to finish? I wasn't surprised that they came out to try to run it. They had a whopper package in there where they had seven offensive linemen and a defensive tackle.
Starting point is 01:47:05 They took all the receivers, tight ends off the field, and that's the play right there where Kenneth Walker, three sticks, goes 60 yards like that. But Khalil Benson, I talked to, he started Colorado, and then he transferred to Indiana. Between what he did in Indiana and what they're doing with Andy Heck on the offensive line in Kansas City,
Starting point is 01:47:26 nothing was too big for that kid last night. No, Nick Benito is a Mako shark. That's the fastest shark in the ocean. Like, his takeoff is electric. He wouldn't beat by that at all. In fact, he must have, like, anvil for hands. Because when he gets his mitts on you, he ain't giving it up. And he'll stone you.
Starting point is 01:47:43 He's got heavy hands. And you can see it. He's like he's light on his feet right there, all kinds of traffic. He's putting guys on their back, little pancake blocks. But he was tall. Like I was out there in St. Charles, St. Joseph, Missouri this summer. And he was competing for the starting right tackle job. Then they had injury with Trace meant the right guard.
Starting point is 01:48:02 So he went to the right guard. And he played his first snaps at left tackle last night. And you can't tell that it was a rookie, making his first start undrafted. It was an impressive performance. Baldy, how does he go undrafted, actually? Like he's a national champion. He's huge. Obviously, he has the ability.
Starting point is 01:48:20 Isn't that like the draft is what we think he could become, what he think he could become? How does everybody miss? And then he had to go try out, right? It wasn't even like he was an undrafted free agent signing. You had to go try out. How does that happen, you think, actually? It happens every year.
Starting point is 01:48:35 I mean, you could just say, okay, everybody talked about the quarterback. Everybody talked about the three receivers they had. They talked about the coach. They don't really talk about the other. offensive line and what he did against Ruben Bain in the national championship game or anything, you know, they just concentrate on just a couple of people. And even the guys that are going to do their homework, they're looking at, you know, size weight, how fast is he run a 40-yard dashing? All these things can kind of knock you down. And none of them have anything to do with how you can
Starting point is 01:49:02 perform. I mean, Andy Reid has found free agent offensive lineman for 25 years in his sleep. He did it in Philadelphia's been doing it in Kansas City. And so he just has a lot of an eye for this. He's an old offense alignment himself. He's got an eye for guys that can stay on their feet, have good balance, have the right amount of toughness, and then just the mentality where if you do get beat,
Starting point is 01:49:27 you don't need a shrink to talk on the sideline to get yourself out of a funk. You can kind of get yourself out yourself. You're talking about mental toughness, yeah. We need that. We need that. Need it. Okay, you need that. We've been thinking, and we haven't been naming any direct
Starting point is 01:49:42 organizations in our private conversations. but it feels like every soft culture loses and every tough culture wins. You know, it just feels like that in football, probably going to be like that forever, if we had to guess. But that was the thing that stuck out for the Seattle Seahawks Hard Knocks. I'm like, that's a tough, that is a culture over there. That's a hard-ass culture they got. That's probably going to be good in football.
Starting point is 01:50:03 And I like that you're bringing up that Andy Reid has the ability to find those guys as well. I didn't know, I guess I should have assumed he was a former offense alignment. I just knew he was a punt-pass and kicker. You remember? Yeah, that's right. In full pads, had the entire thing. I thought maybe he was playing wide out, but I guess looking at him, he probably was offensive alignment.
Starting point is 01:50:21 It's offensive alignment, Pat. We're skilled people. It's more than just blocking. Some of us can catch a ball. Some of us can kick a ball. Some of us can do, you know, dunk a basketball. Some of us can do pretty athletic things. I don't know if any of you can kick a ball.
Starting point is 01:50:36 I don't know if any of you could do that. Andy Reid wants to punt pass and kick competition. He was the biggest kid out there. Like, he was a straight-ahead kicker, Pat. You know, the old Fred Cox style, straight ahead. Yeah, absolutely. Who else grows up? Pull that video up of Andy Reid out there.
Starting point is 01:50:50 Yeah, is it grossing too? He had the straight on, right? Straight-of-away. Yeah, I remember Andy Reid being a freak athlete. That's why I didn't think he was offensive alignment. You know, like... You can't where this is real. Look at how natural he looks right.
Starting point is 01:51:03 I mean, there's no way that guy's an offense alive. That's not real. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Yeah, that's my best kick right there. That kid behind him was into it. Yeah, yeah. Same age Same age.
Starting point is 01:51:14 Yeah, this is AI. This is real. He's the same size down. Andy Reid was Andy Reid As a 14-year-old we just saw, and obviously he certainly is a Russian. 14 weapons. I would say he was probably 13.
Starting point is 01:51:26 That was probably like the 8 to 10 right behind. I'd hope so. So he's probably the old guy. It might be a Tony Almonte situation, actually. Well, I mean, Andy Reid could have been in college there. 15. You know, he's super competitive. That's a good point.
Starting point is 01:51:37 You know that is the case. AJ has a question for you about another hard. nose football coach in a tough culture, I think. Obviously, that's proven to win. Go ahead, AJ. He's talking about the New York football giants. Obviously, Hardball comes in there and they establish themselves week one with the win over the Cowboys. What do you think of this offense? Most likely, obviously Jackson Darts a quarterback, but we got Scadaboo and Pat Ricard leading the way, I guess. What did you see from them week one? And do you think these guys are going to win a good amount of games this year?
Starting point is 01:52:04 Well, they'll be in Los Angeles this weekend to play the Rams with their home opener. But just being around John, since he was a special teams coach in Philly, it's all about culture, toughness. The team got a lot bigger. You go get a 6'4-7 tight end in Isaiah likely. You get a 310-pound fullback and patch of your card. You go get yourself, Arvel Reese, a 6-5, 255-pound linebacker. They just got bigger everywhere. And then with that, he trains them hard.
Starting point is 01:52:34 There's just no nonsense around John Harbaugh. What he gets the guys to do to buy in is go beat the Cowboys on national TV and whip him at the line of scrimmage, and then you'll really get the buy-in. You know what? This guy knows what he's doing. Jackson Dart was protected. The guy was so accurate with all these throws. Now, the Cowboys didn't cover motor singletary. I don't know if they knew he was in the uniform or what his name was.
Starting point is 01:52:58 They didn't cover him. That helped a little bit against the giant. But still up front, they did a great job. C.C. Maranoa, coming out of the University of Miami, trained by Mario. the ball. The guy was trained so hard down there at Miami. Coming to Harbaal's camp, this is where he wants to be. This is the culture. This is what they want to be. And I just think that they're bigger, tougher, and I think mentally a little tougher. And getting Malik neighbors on the field was a big, big boost to
Starting point is 01:53:26 that team. Yeah, John Harbaugh tackled him allegedly in warmups to prove that he could take a hit, which is hilarious and good coaching. That NFCE certainly looks fascinating and interesting, does it not? With the Giants back, we'll continue digitally. The Shrag Show is next big day, I think, right? Yeah, yeah. Big days with big Shreg's next. Yeah, Monday or Thursday. Yeah, because on Friday, I threw it to Big Day with Big Shregs. It was actually Big Pate. Yeah, yeah. So I kind of
Starting point is 01:53:49 fuck that one out. I'll get that right, Baudy. Hey, we are still live, bawdy, obviously, as we go. And I like the way, you know, like Meathead Football. Okay, there's 13 personnel this weekend more so than ever. Under Center, here we go. How you doing? We're taking snaps under center. We got line up. We got fullbacks playing a lot of football right now. Now, it does feel like we're taking advantage of the modern rules with some explosives
Starting point is 01:54:12 or like timing, seem right, on time throws with the modern offenses. But it's getting back to power football. Is that something you've been seen over the last couple years? And is this just the cyclicality of football? Or how do you kind of view this style of ball going? I mean, all these quarterbacks that have been in shotgun their whole careers, you know, like a guy like Jalen Hurts in Philadelphia, now he's under center. Saquan Barkley is eight yards deep.
Starting point is 01:54:40 Everybody is in two tight-end packages. I've seen three tight-ins and a fullback. Andy Reid last night said, we're just going to run power football, put a Wopper package out there. We don't care if you know we're going to run. Stop it. And so that mentality is back.
Starting point is 01:54:54 And it's good. It's good for football. It makes you tackle. It makes you defeat blocks. It protects the quarterbacks better. We need quarterbacks in this league. We need passion Mahomes out there. But then you get guys like this.
Starting point is 01:55:07 Like guys like Kenneth Walker. probably the best game he's ever played. Like, you see his breakaway speed, his cutting ability, you know, his contact balance, just running through tackles. Now, sometimes week one guys don't tackle for seven months, and then they're asked to, you know, bring down the Super Bowl MVP. But I think this is a real hard trend, and you're going to see it week in, week out. Broadcasters are going to talk about it.
Starting point is 01:55:31 Fans are going to know what 13 personalities. They're going to know one back three tight ends. We're going to know the glossary of terms in this run-th century. formation right now that we're getting. Do you think Sequin and the Eagles kind of showcase that you can do that? Or do you think this is just natural evolution of smaller guys on the defensive side of the ball
Starting point is 01:55:48 and offensive coordinators wanting to take advantage that 28 missed tackles last night for the Denver Broncos? Yeah, that was pathetic. Yeah, that's bad. That would be highlighted by Sean Payton in the meeting today. All the mistackles, all the grabbing and diving. It's like an old NFL films clip.
Starting point is 01:56:04 Like, we're just diving and grabbing here and we're not doing anything. And that's what it looked like. This is This is bad football. But I saw around the league. I saw a lot of bad tackling around the league where you go, like it was, you know, that touchdown by Rishi Rice, if you put it up there. They didn't pursue to the football. They didn't tackle at the point.
Starting point is 01:56:24 They didn't leverage the play. Like this right here, it's just a little hitch on the outside. Like this is bad football. Yeah. That's gross. He's walking in the end zone. Everybody else is like diving on top of each other. You know, we've got to do better.
Starting point is 01:56:37 We've got to do better than that as a league. Otherwise, this is just fantasy football out. Oh, baldy's saying. Listen, we can't have this on TV. To bear it. This cannot be what people tune in and watch, all right? They're watching flag football. Two different sports.
Starting point is 01:56:55 We need our guys, especially the defense that we have so much respect for. Great punt there by Rishi, by the way. Shout to him blasting that thing. But the Denver Broncos have led the NFL in Sacks the last two years. They're known as like a great defense. They're known as a physical. defense, which kind of goes back. Do you think offensive coordinators are like, let's take advantage of these guys who haven't really had to handle physical football? And is this going to be
Starting point is 01:57:17 something that continues all season? Or will there come a time where defense, I guess this is more a question for you, AJ. Do we think like these defenses will naturally get better at tackling as they do more tackling through the season? Or are we about to see like week eight through week 12 just old-schooled 1990s like smash-mouth football with not the massive amount of points that we saw this past weekend because I think the run game was leading to an explosion of points which is so against I think natural philosophy.
Starting point is 01:57:45 So AJ, are these guys going to start tackling? Or do we have a generation of players right now that might not be the right size to be playing against this style of offensive football? No, I think you'll see guys settling. I mean, Boney pointed out like you go seven months without live tackling all of a sudden you're trying to tackle the Super Bowl MVP who looks more
Starting point is 01:58:01 Jack than he's ever been in his whole life. So yeah, I think the tackling will get better. It's something you get used to and you get more like in game shape, I think. But yeah, there's hopefully we are going to see this other year and think about it as the season goes, as the elements become a bigger part of the game and you're playing in cold weather climate, it's like you're going to
Starting point is 01:58:17 need to rely on some of this run game. Got a wrap it. Just got to wrap it. I think they'll definitely get better. And a lot of things we used to say as defenders is, you know, tackling is about want to. It's kind of like rebound in basketball. It's about want to because you don't get to practice it. You never going to practice it against your teammates.
Starting point is 01:58:32 So you're only going to do it live most occasions on game day, Sundays, Mondays, Thursday. So, yeah, teams will get better. But, Baldy, going to the Bears office, kind of sticking with the theme of hard-nosed teams. Ben Johnson has brought up a hard-nosed brand of football over there. He rushed for over 290 yards, six rushing touchdowns. And they also have the element of that dynamic quarterback play with Caleb Williams.
Starting point is 01:58:53 What's your expectations for the Chicago Bears this year? Well, when Ben Johnson came out in August and said, we want to be the highest scoring offense in football of all time, not just this year, of all time. He wants to take down the Patriots offense. He wasn't joking. He was basically breaking all barriers of everybody in the household, not just the players, the coaches, the secretary. We're going to set new records. So he's got an escape artist in Caleb Williams and a magician that can just make these kind of plays over and over and over again.
Starting point is 01:59:28 And then you just see the whole buying. Like on the Kyle Menongai 60-yard touchdown run, like you watch this block by Khalif Raymond, you know, and Luther Burden. Like, they just knock guys out. It was a five-yard run that went 61 yards. So it's how everybody is coached and what the expectations are at every single position. Theo Benedict came in to play left tackle during a game. The kid went to the University of British Columbia.
Starting point is 01:59:58 That's the block right there by Reagan. That's cool. But Theo Benedict's from the University of British Columbia. But there was a toughness to this kid. You can see. And you didn't know that he came off the bench because of the way they play. That's that catch right there by Roman Dunez. Unbelievable.
Starting point is 02:00:12 The catch of the week over Will Lee there. But yeah, I mean, this is crazy. Like these blocks are crazy. You watch DeAndre Swift and Blitz pickup protecting his quarterback. Like he's just stoning guys. Four times in that game just stoned rushers. Bobby O'Carkey came and Bobby O'Carickey stopped. Like, they didn't get near the quarterback.
Starting point is 02:00:33 This is good stuff. This is the stuff that gets you excited here, Pat, on a Monday afternoon in the film room. Yeah, I could have met in also on a Tuesday afternoon here as Baldi's laying out what you're pumped up about. So you're saying this is sustainable, and this is something we need to just get used to because him projecting about wanting to be the highest scoring offense in the history of the NFL,
Starting point is 02:00:52 was that him potentially saying, hey, I really like where Caleb is right now, verse where he was last year. Because we all know that Ben Johnson's offense, if it's being operated at a high clip by the quarterback, it is going to be successful. I mean, what he did to Jared Goff up there in Detroit and what the Detroit Lions became under his leadership on the offensive side
Starting point is 02:01:10 was electrifying and seemingly unstoppable in the biggest moments. Always had a third down play in the back pocket. Always had a red zone play in the back pocket. The two must have situations he always took advantage of. And if you could just play in that system, the system will win and the system will do great. I think he knew where Caleb was, and where do you think Caleb is right now in this system? Because it looks spectacular, under center, gun through reeds,
Starting point is 02:01:34 and then everything we thought he would be able to add to the Jared Goff, Detroit Lions offense. He was with those long-ass runs. Should we expect that Caleb's only going to get better, like he said afterwards, or do we think he's operating this offense, how it's supposed to operate, as they score 59 points in their opening week? They scored 59 points, and he was awesome. They put up almost 600 yards of offense. And they left points on the field.
Starting point is 02:01:59 You know, that's the thing. Like, there was more points to be scored. Carolina kept them to 60. They could have scored 80. You know, so it's that kind of mentality. But Caleb is, I remember doing a high school football camp with Caleb when he was at Gonzaga High School in D.C. And I took him into the film room.
Starting point is 02:02:17 He already knew exactly how to defeat every coverage. And then you went out and you watched him throw and you're like, that's an NFL arm when he was in high school. And then you see this balance and athletic ability, his ability to see the whole field. I mean, his tight end didn't catch a ball. His starting tight end didn't catch a ball. And yet, like this throw right here at Colquimette,
Starting point is 02:02:37 the other tight end, like that's a drag wheel route. Everybody has it in their playbook. Not everybody can make that throw against great coverage of Carolina. So, I mean, I think anything is possible right now, especially when they can run the ball and how they can. continue to run the ball. Short yardage, third and five, they're running the football.
Starting point is 02:02:58 They just have a belief in what they're doing right now, and a two-back system with Swift and Menangai. It's lethal. It's very, very lethal. Yeah, I hope they're able to do it, you know, because that team's coming to Indiana. Yeah, you're right. And then you can make the official switch.
Starting point is 02:03:15 With me. Well, whoa, I'm not doing that. Good back. Go ahead. One thing about Ben Johnson, Pat. Like, there's no rat poison. Okay, being swallowed at Hallis Hall. It's just, like, you can, we can rave about that team all you want.
Starting point is 02:03:29 I'm telling you, he's finding a way to let them know that that was a disappointing performance. There's more to be gained. And I think he's got their attention. He wasn't going to do the chant, right? Yeah, he's basically making them beg to do it. So, all right, guys, let's break it up. Let's get out of here. They go, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, we got a little good, better best thing.
Starting point is 02:03:47 You know, we're still in the middle of this working. They love them out there. Oh, yeah. And he was shirtless, what, towards the end of the year last year? Yep. was really rallying? You know, because we all wondered where he and Caleb
Starting point is 02:03:56 going to be able to get along. You know, because you're talking about him being miserable today in finding a reason to be miserable about a 59 point performance on offense. 37 points on the other side, which I would assume is what he is looking to be miserable about.
Starting point is 02:04:10 But we thought maybe he and Caleb would never get along. He was going to have the power. Maybe Caleb goes somewhere else. Instead, it's like everything we've heard Caleb say is he wanted this. This is exactly what he wanted. He wants to be coached.
Starting point is 02:04:20 He wants to be the greatest. And he understands what's available. how much better he can be. It's like, maybe perfect marriage. Maybe they've got it right up there in Chicago. And maybe this is the foreseeable future in the NFC North as there's question marks with the Vikings. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:04:34 There's question marks with the Green Bay Packers. Certainly. The Detroit Lions, we assume? We'll see after Thursday. We'll see. We'll see. We'll assume. I mean, that's just what we're going to do.
Starting point is 02:04:45 Saints are good football team, we think. But we assume that the Lions are a good team. But it's like, this could be the Bears. I mean, Chicago fans could be having a great. decade and a half. What, Pete Crowe Armstrong, also how old is he? Very young. Fadard. How are the Bulls? Captain. Captain
Starting point is 02:05:01 Bajard. Fourth overall pick. Caleb Bullson, showing a lot of promise for the Bulls this year. Is that the Cubs game, too? Is Chicago about to be... White Sox are going to make the playoffs this year? Moonshot of Takah. Oh, my God. We're all going to have to live in that, right? The Chicago fans are about to be back in very loud? Well, you got to win
Starting point is 02:05:17 titles, though. Making the playoffs. Who gives a shit? Come on. Chicago is a big big city. I mean, who gives a shit? If they make the playoffs, you've got to win titles. I mean, last year, I think they gave a shit in that. Well, right, because they have been hammered dog shit for so long, but now the expectations are, you know. Oh, you're saying they were in the shite division for a long? A long time.
Starting point is 02:05:35 A long time. Really? The shite division? Chicago Bears for that long. You think they would have been in the shite division in the last few decades? Before Caleb got there? I mean, who was it when Iber flus got fired on Thanksgiving? They were in the shite house then.
Starting point is 02:05:48 They were in the shite division then, yeah. Well, congrats of Chicago Bears fans. look like you guys have something that cheer for for the next 15 years, especially because you'll be able to keep them healthy. You're going to love Indy. I mean, golf, what's that? And they're going to love Indiana. And we would like them to come visit their team on a very regular basis
Starting point is 02:06:03 so that our state can maybe find a way out of what we're giving to have the Chicago Bears come to Indiana. Baldy, we appreciate the hell out of you, buddy. Yeah, thanks, Pat. Yep. I'm going to join you again, man. A great weekend, guys. Yeah, thank you, too.
Starting point is 02:06:17 Do you see Jason Kelsey's pass set last night? No, I did not. You need to see it. Hey. It looked good. It looked really good. He, I mean, he took like a three yard. I mean, it was, he looked like he glided across.
Starting point is 02:06:30 And he, from my understanding, Jason Kelsey has been wanting to do fully padded one-on-ones with fans during Monday night countdown. So I think he does keep himself in great shape. But I think you should check that out. And I think maybe you should show something after I saw you working out. Holy shit. Yeah, I saw you getting after it, Baldy. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:06:50 Yeah. You're a monster, Baldy. Let's go. What of the inspiration you are. That's Lane Johnson's barn in the back of his house right there. And it's got a full weight room. So I sneak over there every Monday and Tuesday afternoon, try to get a little bit in.
Starting point is 02:07:09 How much weight you had on that bar, bawdy? I know this truth. Not enough. Not enough. 225, at least. I do like you did a vertical shot on a potential wide with the weights. Yeah. You got to do what you got to do.
Starting point is 02:07:19 do. This guy had 315 pounds on this board. Many people don't know that. Bode, how old are you if you don't mind me asking? I am 67 today, Pat. Happy birthday. Yeah. No, not today. On this day, you're saying, you're 67. Yeah, okay. That was an interesting way to say that, certainly. But happy birthday, we missed a few.
Starting point is 02:07:44 Yeah, yep, yep. But we were wishing him happy birthday for all 67 of them. happy belated. We'd like to wish you a happy early one too, because there's another one coming, obviously, especially with how you look. There's a lot of them. You look great, man. That's inspiration right there. So you get after two times a week special dieting, too, are we doing super dieting?
Starting point is 02:08:02 I'm a diver, Pat. I'm a free diver. I'm down in Florida. Like, I'm diving as often as I can. So you're swimming out there with the sharks. You've got to be faster than the sharks, Pat. How deep? You're free diving from surface? A minute and a half, two minutes down there. You've got to be lean. You've got to have great, you know, lung capacity.
Starting point is 02:08:20 Like, that's what free divers do. What, hold on. What's your deepest dive? I can free dive to 50 or 60 feet. I don't need to go any deeper than that because there's no reason to. I've seen those documentaries. I was just think Osamael diving to 50 feet. It was great.
Starting point is 02:08:35 So do you have down there in Colzumel obviously going to all that? Yeah, are you doing any fishing, but also follow up? You have the Murman floppers on? No, I don't have. I just got good flippers. I got good free diving flippers, man. So, you know, a couple little flutters, and I could be down to bottom pretty quick. Okay, so you're on boat.
Starting point is 02:08:54 They take you out to a diving spot. They say, hey, if you're able to get to 50 feet, you'll be able to see sharks, you'll be able to see. Is that kind of, is this like, I might want to get into this, actually. This sounds like a good time. With your ears. My ears will pop every single time because the amount of pressure, I assume. Yeah, just got to clear it. Clear the ears.
Starting point is 02:09:13 But I swim out to the reef. Just swim out to the reef, and then I go down. You know, when I see something interesting down here. Oh, so you're just kind of casual swimming around, and then all of a sudden, what's down there? Let me go and bang two and a half minutes down there. You see a big loggerhead or something, you know, like this is, this is Cozumel down here. Like big school of fish down here.
Starting point is 02:09:33 There we go. How long you've been going down there with no oxygen? Well, I mean, I can scuba with the best of them, but I like that right there. I just like holding the breath and going to take a look and go down there for a minute, minute and a half, maybe take a spear gun with you, find a lobster or something like that. That's awesome. Like, it's just entertaining, Pat. You never know what you're going to see down there.
Starting point is 02:09:55 You're from Pittsburgh? Yeah, North Hills. Love that. So you go down in Monongahela. Is that how we got started? I like visibility, Pat. The visibility of the Mononga Hela just isn't my cup of tea. When did you get into this?
Starting point is 02:10:09 Have you always been a water animal or are you just like? Always. Always, always, man. I was a lifeguard growing up on the beach. So it's always in the water, surfing and boogie boarding and all that kind of stuff. But then when I got a place in Florida, I just got the mask and fins and just started. Leonard Williams from the Seattle Seahawks. He's a spear fisherman.
Starting point is 02:10:29 He can hold his breath longer than anybody I know. He's down there for two, two and a half minutes. There's a group of them down there in South Florida. Yeah, we just kind of head to the beach. Then we just swim out. And then we say, we're going down here. Yep. We'll see you guys in about three minutes.
Starting point is 02:10:43 We go down there. That's the Lauderdale by the beach. pier right there. Yeah, there's always good visibility. A lot of fish down there. A lot of sharks underneath there, kind of feeding right there. But it's, it's fun, though. Because honestly, you'll see some barracudas, you know, sometimes down there, like, oh, man, it's just like eye opening, you know? Yeah, certainly. Well, yeah, you have to. So are you punching shark in nose? What are we doing? No. No. No, no, there's guys out there that want to be aggressive, kiss the shark, Kiss the Shark Club.
Starting point is 02:11:13 I'm not doing that. But I will try to, you know, if I see, you know, bull sharks go by, I might kind of trail it for a little bit, see if I can keep up for a while. But usually they're going in a different direction. That's a necton mentality, Brian Bolinger. Yeah. And was it a Minko?
Starting point is 02:11:30 Miko Sharks. Miko. Miko. Miko. Look it up. Miko Sharks, the fastest shark in the sea. 60 miles an hour. What the fuck are you doing this close to this shark, Pody?
Starting point is 02:11:40 Holy shit. Oh, yeah. Well, we chum the waters that day. We were actually looking for this guy. Bull sharks. It's a mean cut. Yeah, mean cuss. He says he's trailing him.
Starting point is 02:11:52 So this bull sharks and I look over his fucking fins at what, baldies behind him? Keeping up. He's balding. Still got it. With his cheeks puffed because he's got the last gas of a vera in there. Come here, bull. And he's trying to slap him on the ass, I guess, the tail, the fin?
Starting point is 02:12:06 The shark is close. What can I say, man? That thing, that went right. Yeah. it came pretty close uh yeah yeah i think they have a little uh you know the kiss the shark club or whatever i think the sharks have a club too stay away from baldy you know you know it feels like that's the case i don't know if we should all be doing that but i love that you're doing it 67 years old ma'am
Starting point is 02:12:26 keep inspiring keep moving and uh take more pictures because we'll never do that okay i'll send them i'll post them out there pat you got it man thank you it feels like i'm a part of it i'll put those on the virtual reality if you know yeah so then i'm actually in there and I'll even do the thing. You're the man. Ladies and gentlemen, oh, oh, here's the set from Kelsey last night.
Starting point is 02:12:46 Here's a set from Kelsey. Oh, let's see. He's left tackle, Khalil Benson. J. Mack is Benito. Gotcha. And the first one, it's like,
Starting point is 02:12:53 you don't want to get off slow on a snap. Said, ah, yeah, Benito's gotcha because he shot out of the K. He's a Maco shark. To your point.
Starting point is 02:13:00 So what Jason Kelsey said was, you got to get off. You got to know what it is. You got to be there way earlier than everybody else. If I was Kalilabah, and shut out. Boom.
Starting point is 02:13:10 Look at that. I still got it there, Baudi. What do we think? Well, that's good. I mean, Jason, like, the world-class lacrosse player, football player, you watch him in the golf course.
Starting point is 02:13:19 Like, he's just an athlete, period. He's got his white tennies on right there, light on his feet. Like, he could still go chase a linebacker down the field right there, getting to the second level. I think he could catch a bullshart too if he had to. Some people were not happy on the internet by him wearing tentations.
Starting point is 02:13:33 Yeah, I saw that. I don't get it. I don't get it. I don't get it. Who cares to wear? Yes, Baldi. No point, Bobby. Hey, man.
Starting point is 02:13:40 Hey, you're the man, ladies' gentlemen, Brian Baldinger. Yay, Balding! All right, let's get to a break on the other side. We got a brand new, Sake. And we don't know if it's ever gonna get to happen again. Have you heard about this one, AJ? Oh, you're muted. Oh, you're mute.
Starting point is 02:13:57 You moved yourself. Yeah, you did. My mic is on. My mic is on, come on. Can you hear me? Yeah, Nick just said, yeah, you muted him. Yeah, so Nick, me and me? Yeah.
Starting point is 02:14:07 Nick knew what it is. Wow. Jeez. Nick did four fingers on him, so. That was a hard. That was me. You just said, shut up. I brought AJ down so that are baldy.
Starting point is 02:14:16 Oh. Man, what if baldy would have said? I fucking hate these guys. That would have been incredible after the combo we just had. He's spectacular. Oh, yeah, spectacular. The way he says everything. I would dive with him.
Starting point is 02:14:29 That'd be awesome. You could probably hold your breath pretty long. You're in great shape. Oh, I take pride and hold my breath. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I've been doing so kid. Oh, really?
Starting point is 02:14:36 Me too, because we used to try to get through the phone pit. I try to get to 10 minutes. What? What? As a documentary, there's a guy that teaches people. He can always breath 10 minutes. Yeah. It's a long, long road to get there. But yeah. You got to do. Thank you. Okay. So you got to do like exercises to like... The guy there's all kind of stuff, yeah.
Starting point is 02:14:52 I mean, T.C. could do eight minutes, right? Yeah, Todd just looked up Tom Cruise six to six and a half minutes. Yeah. Yeah. I potentially talked to Tom Cruise last night. That's awesome. It was. Yes, it was. And I'll tell you, I was dripping in sweat. Mm-hmm. And he had a leather jacket on.
Starting point is 02:15:08 Yep. and didn't have a single drop or bead of sweat anywhere. Well, it was a cucumber. I asked somebody, how's this guy, as he walked away, how's this guy wearing a cow on him right now or a faux cow in not sweating? And they say, he's a movie star, brother. He's the movie star. He doesn't sweat, dude.
Starting point is 02:15:29 This is just kind of what it is. And I had a big, hearty laugh at that. Yeah. I mean, I had a big... Because it's very true. Yeah, it seemingly is. T.C. D.C. D. See you at least.
Starting point is 02:15:37 Got a chance to chat with Miss Taylor Swift last night. Mm-hmm. Yeah, I had a chance. Yep. There you go. Huge day. Yeah. Told us, uh, let's up you doing any photos in here.
Starting point is 02:15:48 So, uh, on the way out, I go, uh, Miss Taylor. Is there any way I can get a selfie with it? She says, absolutely. She was so kind. So hospitable. Her mom brought, uh, sugar-coated bacon strips. Oh, oh. Candied bacon.
Starting point is 02:16:03 Yeah, there it is. Candy bacon. That's the, good. A billion dollar bacon. It was, yeah, you're right. We're not 100% sure what number it is, maybe trillion at this point. But it was a thousand degrees. So we walk all the way up there.
Starting point is 02:16:15 Shout to Jason Kelsey. So happy that I'm on a cast with him. He is an absolute legend. Has everybody up there. We walk up her. I'm dripping in sweat. Okay. I am absolutely dripping in sweat.
Starting point is 02:16:26 Take the jacket off. We walk in. My shirt is just drenched, obviously. We open a thing. First person we see. Miss Donna Kelsey. Taylor Swift. And as soon as I look at Ms. Don, I go,
Starting point is 02:16:38 Legend, how are you? I go to Taylor. Miss Taylor, and she goes, Pat. And I go, oh, how are you? Big hug, she wants. And I'm drenched. This is how I'm meeting Taylor Swift for the first time, really. You know, wedding, hello, how you doing?
Starting point is 02:16:51 Chaos, though. This is the first time really getting in time? Just swell all over. I'm so sorry that this happened. Great to meet you. You're the best. They are, hey, she's all in. She is.
Starting point is 02:17:02 Every snap we're talking about up. It was. Gumpy, that was the most into it sweet we've ever been in. Yeah, that place was absolutely rocking. It was so loud. Hitting the roof every time anything happened. It was pretty electric.
Starting point is 02:17:16 Everybody in there was all in on it. And then he had that 57-yard catch. We were in there for that. Oh, my God. It was, that is what, like, being a football fan was like, because I don't, obviously, I don't know if Taylor, I know she had Eagles jersey on whenever she was young. She sang national anthem, but she's been so busy with her career.
Starting point is 02:17:34 I don't know how much she was into football. and I don't know how much everybody else that was in there. Like obviously you got Kelsey portion of everything too that are all football people in there. But I don't know how new other people were to football. It's like watching them experience the game was fantastic. I mean, it was, they're all in, though. Was TC no ball?
Starting point is 02:17:51 Yeah. No way. What'd you just fucking say? He's better watch your fucking mouth. Watch all the right moves. You did this with the popcorn too, D.Budge. Don't see what the games. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:18:03 We remember the popcorn game. He played cornerback. He was a wippial. He's a football agent. He was from. Cooper de Jean before Cooper de Jean. He was a wimpy. Watch it.
Starting point is 02:18:15 Where is he from? T.C.? Yeah. See? Heaven. Not a ball place. In that movie, he was from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:18:24 Exactly. I'd assume L.A. Fucking asshole. Just a question. But yes, he knew ball. He's from Mars. He was understanding what was going on. All of them.
Starting point is 02:18:34 There was that fumble where, on down the left sideline and the guy was out of bounds when he touched it and then it could have been scooped up and gone in there. So in the moment, holy hell, there's a fun place he erupts. Obviously going crazy. Ball, ball, ball.
Starting point is 02:18:46 Yeah, there was a lot of that actually up in the front. Yeah, I figured. Not just T.C. Taylor as well. I mean, there was a fool. We got it going on. And as soon as they saw the replay, stepped out of bounds,
Starting point is 02:18:57 everybody, before it was even announced. I was like, oh, no ball. It was like the, it was a quick moment where I was like, oh, I'm going to have to explain everybody the fucking guy was out of bounds and this entire thing, like, I can already feel that this is about to happen. Instead, they're like, out of bounds. Moved on. Just like
Starting point is 02:19:14 completely understanding on to the next thing. So it's like, I got a chance to actually see that that entire suite, I know it's on camera a lot, and I don't think they like that, by the way. They just want to watch the game. I think from my understanding, they just want to watch a game. I'm here to support my husband, here to support like our friends. I don't
Starting point is 02:19:30 know what's the suite arrangement, but we are here just to have a good, football and they certainly do i fucking loved it it's not just for the camera i would say because we were in there had a little had a little speaker going in the back nice never seen that in a sweet genius move somebody was on the ox in the back banger after bang good vibes in the back and obviously chiefs are winning there so yeah that's good helps would probably would have been a little different story if they're losing yeah they were winning and i'll tell you them all was kind of seeing kenneth walker go crazy it's like we like this hey
Starting point is 02:20:04 We like this guy. This guy's really good. I took that minus 10. You knew the script. If I had a new T-C. It would have been, I took minus 20. Yeah, they too.
Starting point is 02:20:12 I didn't. Paddy Cuts was bringing it too. Shout out Patty Cuts. I'll tell you what, patty cuts? No, bacon was the most memorable. Sure. There's got in bacon in there.
Starting point is 02:20:24 And, uh... Oh, not the bacon you ate. No, the candy bacon also great because Mama Swift brings that in. And I believe, like, baking and cooking is the thing. So, soon, sweating. all over Taylor. Thank you so much. It's great to see
Starting point is 02:20:37 you. How you doing? Mom immediately. Hey, would you like a pizza? And I go, holy I'm okay, thank you. Finally. You didn't take the candy bacon. Hold on, hold on. Can I please explain myself? I just sweat all over Taylor. Okay, I felt like an asshole, okay, completely. Should not be here? Why am I here? Is everybody sweating in here? Or, like, I didn't really
Starting point is 02:20:57 know what was going on, how embarrassed I should be. Mom comes in with tray of candy bacon. Would you like something? I'm trying not to be an incompetence. I don't want to be a bother. I go, no thank you. And then I turn for a second. I go, yes, I would like that. Okay. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I would love that. Thank you so much. You're the best. Love that you had your phone at the wedding, by the way. That was a gangster move. Because right after ceremony, Mom Swift goes up, model Kelsey, the parents go up and kind of explain
Starting point is 02:21:23 what's about to happen, how everything's about to go. Mom and stuff goes, I know you guys aren't going to love this. Pulls her cell phone out because nobody has their phone, obviously. And I was like, yes, I love this lady right here. She kind of handled the entire situation. So it was the last time, the only time I've ever really seen her. So her bringing me that and here and it was like, I did feel like in an asshole media being like, no, but I was trying not to bother anybody. And I was like, y'all, disrespectful.
Starting point is 02:21:43 Please, I would love to have it. It was delightful. Did you happen to ask Donna Kelsey how the addition on her house is going? Oh, yeah. I didn't fucking. That's on me. I missed it. I was kind of starstruck by Donna Kelsey.
Starting point is 02:21:55 I don't doubt it. She's tall. Yeah, that makes sense. She is tall. It does make sense. Yeah, it certainly does. Some athletes. Ed was in there, too.
Starting point is 02:22:03 and the house. Yeah, he was, I gave him a full good for you, man. Hell yeah, dude, nice to meet you. He goes, Pat, he was going to the bathroom. Yep, yep. All right, let me get the hell out of here. Yeah, it was maybe the safest place in the Midwest. If you think Tom's there.
Starting point is 02:22:18 Yeah. Taylor's there. I saw a guy sitting in front of the suite in the actual stands. The internet was like, that's a bodyguard. Yep, I saw that guy. Yeah, so I know a few of Travis's guys, obviously. They're good dudes. Ohio guys, you know, sports guys.
Starting point is 02:22:32 so it's great. And I started pointing at people, I'm like, I don't know who a lot of these people are in here. I'm like, who's that guy? He goes, security.
Starting point is 02:22:39 I'm like, for who? And he goes, ah, I don't know. But definitely had near peace in. It's like, man,
Starting point is 02:22:45 are the fucking seals in here? There was a chance. Probably. Definitely. But it was. Tom's his own security. I was going to say, he doesn't have any.
Starting point is 02:22:53 Right. Yeah, probably. He's got a satellite on him at all times. You were about to be like, no, I know. No, no,
Starting point is 02:23:02 no, no. No. I don't want to give anything. I just want to let everybody know. I felt very safe in there. I was looking around. And I'll tell you, as an observant person, yeah, and also.
Starting point is 02:23:12 Yeah, the litany of others. Lieutenant Pete Mitchell. Yes, Black Belt and like 10 different, you know, practices. It's TC. Doesn't need a body organ. No. Of course not. No.
Starting point is 02:23:23 But looking around that sweet last night, it was like, this is the power of ball. You know? Like, this is the power of football. I don't want to say I got emotional, but it was like, this is fucking awesome. If you could bottle that experience in that suite with the people that were in there just enjoying the game and give that to people who didn't know the sport or anything, I think that would be addicted to it forever. That was awesome. Thank you for the hospitality up there.
Starting point is 02:23:45 They fucking love it. Every play. I mean, it was like, I almost felt like kind of, man, maybe I don't like ball, you know, because like a couple plays happened. It's like, all right, we're just kind of bullshit. And they're like, no, they're in. Like every single play, every single snap. It was quite an experience. Then I had to go home.
Starting point is 02:24:04 Sure. I had to leave, and I got mocked and ridiculed for that. You know? Sorry, you got a day job. We're leaving the game. Yeah, because, you know, they were going to celebrate. It was a huge home opener win. And I'll say, why are you leaving?
Starting point is 02:24:18 You just said that this is the greatest sweet you've ever been. Why are you going to get? They were a very positive bunch, I would say. There was a guy named Demetrius. Tell you what, that guy's got to figure it out. More than, not bacon. Bacon's got to figure it out more. name, buddy. This guy, not the candy bacon, a guy named bacon. He was described in a text.
Starting point is 02:24:37 Who's the fat little legend? And that's what you just need to know about this baking character. That's what I learned quickly. You're talking about an icon that's hanging around that group. And he should be, he might end up being the most famous one of them all. Okay. For my understanding, no, not going to get into it. All right, let's take a break. On the other side, thank you to everybody in Kansas City for the hospitality. That was a spectacular start to the Monday night countdown run. Shout to college football. All the environments that we've got a chance of experience have been absolutely on fire. College football is bringing it. NFL is killing it. And on the other side, we got a new segment. Sick. Is that a public photo right there?
Starting point is 02:25:16 I don't think we need to bring it up and out of them. But that is bacon, right? That I am looking at on that screen right there. We don't need to do that to bacon. Banking is having a good little life. Okay. Bacon is of a great little like, great big life, I would say. And this entire thing from my understanding. But last night was awesome. Thankful for it all. We got more football in sports to talk about on the other side. More headlines to break down.
Starting point is 02:25:39 And football is baseball. How's baseball? Is baseball still doing? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. He's not big time. He's not big time. Joggi hit one?
Starting point is 02:25:45 Yeah, he hit one to the fucking moon last night, which was nice. This is his first home run back. So still kind of same deal last time we talked about it. Like the playoff, the standings are going to flip around and switch around a bunch over like the last week of the season here. Okay, so Judge goes yard in front of 200 people in Minnesota. Yeah, it was rainy, really shitty weather, but... Yeah, it looked across.
Starting point is 02:26:07 You know, a lot of people dress like seats there. Yeah, the twins suck, so that's a big part of it too. Okay, that was great. Toll, our man Toll, he had an immaculate inning, which is what, nine pitches and then three odds, strike them all out. And right beforehand, I saw the beautiful moment where he actually says to himself, man, I'm about to have a nine pitch inning right here, and a big smiles, enjoys the moment, and then delivers.
Starting point is 02:26:29 This guy's an icon in my eyes, a legend. I love him. Are the Red Sox going to have a chance to go in a run? Are we actually going to win it all this year? Yeah, we are in it with the Yankees as well. We're probably the only two teams in the AL that have kind of locked in their wildcard spot. You can say that third one being a little bit more of a closer run. But yeah, him, R.A. Scarrett Crochet coming back from the DL pretty soon as well,
Starting point is 02:26:52 kind of similar to Judge, been out for most of the years. So, yeah, Red Sox and Yankees are both going to be in it big time. I love this tall guy. How about the smile right before the movie? Love it. I'm going to throw this as hard as I can right down the middle and see if he can hit it or not. I like the thought of him potentially figuring out what's happening to in real time. Oh, shit.
Starting point is 02:27:10 Yeah, there is an opportunity here to do something special. Let me go ahead and put everything in this. This is the guy that hugged somebody last week, or two weeks ago, did a push-up last week. Now he's smiling before accomplishing. How often does this take place? Like, almost never. Very rare. My favorite baseball player.
Starting point is 02:27:30 By far. I like Ms. a lot. Is he still doing it? Oh, yeah. I think only two this season. Two different types. You know? Mizz is pitching tonight?
Starting point is 02:27:39 Yes, sir. Okay, we'll watch that. Yeah, we will watch it. Definitely better on it. What's that? I'm definitely betting on it. Responsibly. Oh, that would be Ms.
Starting point is 02:27:49 Okay, no, we're always gambling responsibly. We're talking to, like, to the people watching it, not to ours. No, no, to everybody that gambles needs to do a responsible. Save your shekels for the NFL. Max bet. No, that's Max bet responsibly. Okay, that is what we need to do, especially because when you guys are assholes,
Starting point is 02:28:06 if that is what you're saying you do, which I don't like to hear about it. It's me learning in real time that this is how you guys operate. You're going to ruin it for all of us. Do you Valley and a home going to kick off in half an hour. Max ball. Okay. Responsibly.
Starting point is 02:28:19 In Bombay, probably two goals as well. Responsibly. Responsibly, all these things you must gamble responsible. And your max bet, should be a responsible number. Okay, make sure you put the roof at a place that is responsible. Now, obviously you have,
Starting point is 02:28:34 should never scare you at all. Now, all of those units in there, you should, you can kind of develop your own ladder on how much you like, how much you don't like. But your max unit needs to be a responsible number because if it's not, you're going to ruin it for all of us. Okay, don't do that. Please.
Starting point is 02:28:53 Well said. Thank you. Read the disclaimer. Yeah, it's right there. Gambling problem? Call 1-800 gambler or 1-800, My Recent. 800, 32750-50 slash visit Gambling Help, Massachusetts.org. Call 8778-Hope-N-Y or text, HOPE, NY 467-369, New York. Right there at the bottom, please gamble responsibly. 888789-777 slash visit ccpg.org in Connecticut or visit www.
Starting point is 02:29:25 W.m.mdgambler.org. Tell you what, of all those, the Hope and why are the nicest group to talk to. I'm happy that you're doing that. If you do have a problem, please call, okay? Because once again, you can't ruin it for all of us. That's right. Now, we lost last night. We learned, we get better.
Starting point is 02:29:47 And on the other side, we cover everything that's happened. And also debut, D-Buts, hell yeah. Peanut, Punch Out, Spotlight. Be your friend, tell a friend something nice. It might change your life. Take five. Five!
Starting point is 02:30:02 It is the greatest. That's AJ Hawk. The toxic table is here at Boston Connor and at Ty Schmidt. One half of the hammer. God. Cowboys AP Ton is here. Nine-year NFL vet. Darius J. Butler is here.
Starting point is 02:30:20 Good to see you, Dee Butch. Good to see you. It's been a great start to the season. So good. AJ, don't you think it's been a phenomenal start to the football season this year? Almost record-setting points already this year. Oh, the NFL has shown up in a big way. And college has just had chaos already happened.
Starting point is 02:30:34 So football's awesome. And I think we're all lucky to be experiencing it. And we can't wait for next week to start. But we need to point out something that hasn't been pointed out yet. Okay, obviously everybody's saying the defenses are ass. Defenses actually could just potentially be the entire AFC and NFC division in of themselves. You know, and a lot of ex-NFL players and ex-NFL coaches are coming out saying, These guys don't unite, tackle it, cover anybody.
Starting point is 02:31:03 These guys don't treat the preseason with any respect because all they want to do is get to the regular season. They're just ass for the first three, four weeks. That's how we should just be viewing what defense is going to be going forward. I don't know if that's necessarily true. Because there's a lot of things that actually happen on the defense's side. They're pretty electrifying. Massive plays.
Starting point is 02:31:22 Huge turnovers that aren't just happening but are being forced. And that's why we decided that we have to do debuts, peanut, punch out. Yeah. Spotline. Yay, boys. You see, I just debut there with the punchout, but it's actually peanut punchout. We don't want to give anybody else credit because Chuck Pagano tried to do that a couple of years back with the NFL with a video about this.
Starting point is 02:31:44 But the punch out, obviously, Peanut Tillman made it so damn famous. He had precision strikes, was able to get turnovers, force them. Then it's kind of evolved through the league. Now it seems like it is something that is taught, expected, and certainly executed. First week had a bunch of them, Deep. Absolutely. We had 44 turnovers across the league. league. That's up 14 from last year in week one. Now, last year was more of a down year. And we were in the
Starting point is 02:32:06 league. This was something we saw, but we didn't see it really every week. Peanut Tillman was the guy that made it popular. Obviously, well before that is we all know it originated with Chuck Pagano back at Wyoming. But then we had Peanut, we had Darius Leonard. We have Martin Humphrey. We have these guys who kind of made it. Fred Warner, we see him do it weekend and week out. And it's something we see in practice every day with teams, you know, kind of focusing on running backs have to go back to the huddle and we're still punching out, punching out, punching out of the ball. So yes, tackling was shitty week one. And it will get better, I think, as the season goes on, communicating new defensive coordinators, new play calls. But I love what I'm seeing from all these
Starting point is 02:32:41 punchouts, these forced fumbles. Now, ball carriers, you got to be aware when guys are chased from behind. And you can see from this tape, we got D-Lyman. We got big boys in the trenches getting in on the punchouts now. We got linebackers getting in on the punchouts now. And obviously, we always have D-Bs getting in on the punchout. So these punchouts, punchouts are more valuable. I don't care how much, how many yards you give up throughout the game. If you create turnovers, we know how important that is for teams, for defenses. That could be the difference in a lot of these games. So I love what we're seeing with the evolution of these punchouts weekend and we got. AJ, you used to have to like sacrifice the tackle for the punchout. Now it feels like there's a method of getting both body on them and fist on them.
Starting point is 02:33:20 I think that this one, Fred Warner, he's going to certainly stop the motion of the runner. but then also let's get a shot in there if we can. The only downfall is you hit elbow, hit something else. You break hand. But it feels like guys are much more confident throwing these things, AJ, than maybe back in the day. Yeah, they're so accurate, I feel. Like, it's something that they work on in practice now.
Starting point is 02:33:40 Like, it's part of your individual periods. But what you see now, like right there, that's like old school, hey, first guy up, if you're the second or third guy in, let's get a strip or a punch attempt at the ball. Like, that's always how we were taught back in the day. Now you're the first guy in. If you see that ball exposed at all, you are going for it. It's just, it's awesome to see, like, how good they are.
Starting point is 02:33:58 Also, think about if you're a receiver or you're a running back. You get, you get this, this happens a few times early in the game, and you know a team's attacking the ball. It's going to slow you down a little bit, especially when you're running in some traffic. Like, you are not going to be all lucy-goosey with that thing when you see defenses doing this. Debut, I like that you did this because a lot of people were saying the defenses were bad. It sounds like we actually saw some good out of some of the defenses as well, but these lead immediately to points normal. Absolutely. Now, points obviously is the most important things. We know it in the building points. Then it's field position and is winning the
Starting point is 02:34:28 turnover battle. So the more turnovers that you can create, now defensive coordinators, defensive coaches, you're going to go in the building. Everybody's going to go and grade their players. But the main thing is winning that turnover battle. We're going, if we get three turnovers as a defense, we expect to win that game. I don't care how many points the offense puts up. So stopping those drives, you know, bread zone efficiency on defense as well. But these punchouts, man, these are very, very valuable. And like tackling, that's usually a difference. One big difference of the very, very good defense and like the average defense, the open field tackling. You heard me and AJ talk about it all the time, like guys stapling guys to the ground and
Starting point is 02:35:03 open field. That's big. You got to work on that. You got to get better on that as the season goes on. But I don't care if you're in OTAs with shorts and T-shirts on, you're practicing punching the ball out at all times, and we're seeing it be more effective now Sundays. You talk about your defense wanting to have three turnovers and doesn't matter what the offense does. Stats coming out of the first weekend about turnover differential. Yeah, teams I won the turnover differential this weekend. We're 13 and now. it felt like we saw that, especially last night. There were even big moments
Starting point is 02:35:28 where, you know, sometimes the other team, of course, you can turn the ball over. I mean, we saw it with Patrick Mahomes. He threw his interception, and all of a sudden it looks like the Broncos are set up first in goal. They're going to go in and score again, but then that gives Kansas City a huge opportunity for their defense to shine again.
Starting point is 02:35:44 They almost get another turnover. That was the play that you were talking about right before the last break where the guy stepped out of bounds and got that fumble from Bo Nix. Unfortunately, the Broncos kept it, but I believe they won the turnover battle as well. And, you know, that's just part of it too. There's a reason to practice it.
Starting point is 02:35:59 Like, if you get a turnover, you get two turnovers, especially with the way guys are carrying the football now. You give your team a huge advantage to win the football game. And it does feel like we see that and we also see it with points. It's great for us. You turn that ball over in the red zone, especially in the other area. Like, all of a sudden, you're setting your team up for success.
Starting point is 02:36:17 You're going to score more. I always say that the negative side of it is breaking your hand. Do we ever hear of anybody breaking their shit on this? Negative side is that you possibly might miss a few tackles throughout the course of a year if you're the first guy going for it. But the other positive thing, too, like I said, it slows running backs of people down. Like, you teach, like, little kids, hey, let's punch at that ball. If I miss, I'm hitting them in the ribs, the kidney, the back, the stomach. Like, we're, you know, we're beating this team up as well.
Starting point is 02:36:42 Well, that was kind of a part of it, right? Because guys were letting guys fall to the ground, not touching them. And then as soon as they stood up, just punching them right in the ribs and sternum, that was like something that started happening. And the NFL was like, excuse me, we're not doing body blows, okay? T.J. Watt, a few years ago, if you remember, Steve throwing Haynes. Boom, just right through the stuff. And the NFL was like, hey, we don't want to have to judge intent on many things
Starting point is 02:37:05 because, you know, people don't love it, but you have to at least look like you're going for the ball. Oh, yeah. Listen, AJ, yeah, I got to, yeah, we got to tell them, hey, listen, you missed the ball. You missed the ball. Quinn and Williams, though. It was, like, broad day, like, with the angle. We had, he's punching and rapping. Yeah. At the same time, it's like a tackle form and a technique now at this stage.
Starting point is 02:37:29 And AJ's teaching it going forward. So he's not going to miss that tackle if he does miss the punch. It's a really good, it's a good art form and a talent, I think, to have. I was going to ask AJ because you're obviously teaching, like, young kids now. Like, when we were younger, it was a helmet on the football. Are they still teaching helmet on the football? Are they teaching more of this? Maybe they're too young for what you're dealing with.
Starting point is 02:37:48 But do you know through high school, through college, like what they're teaching now as far as this is concerned? Well, how they teach tackling, I think, is a different world. There's this hawk tackle situation head behind, which I don't, I cannot subscribe to. I don't know exactly how it works. I agree. It's called the hawk tackle like after you? No, it's like with the Seattle Seahawks kind of, they kind of made it a thing, you know, the rugby situation. It's how they try to keep the head and make your head out of it and make tackling safer, I guess. Just in certain little. Wait, so your head's not across the body anymore? But no, I teach, you bite the ball. I think a lot of coaches still teach bite the ball, which means
Starting point is 02:38:19 teaches you, hey, my eyes need to be up. You always said head on the ball. But if you say bite the ball, it's like, okay, I've got to be able to see the ball. Therefore, my forehead's going right on the ball. I saw Miles Garrett practice in this, too, didn't it? Yeah, he was. Worked out for him. Ben it.
Starting point is 02:38:36 Wow, we didn't even think. Did we put those exercises he was doing? Yeah, the explosion up. Maybe that was so different for his knee. Maybe that guy had such different technique that his knee just couldn't handle the explosion. That's true. This guy's coming in and making people too explosive. Get him out of there.
Starting point is 02:38:56 Get him out. Ruinning careers. I mean, I think so. Yeah. Guess where that guy's at now. At the fucking bottom of the Pacific Ocean. No, Brian Baldinger went down and got him. That's true.
Starting point is 02:39:06 Well, I don't know. Baldi's more of an Atlantic guy. So since this video was taken, we now learn, because he hadn't practiced, right? Yeah. Yeah. So he was practicing. This was like his first practice back, and he was. doing this.
Starting point is 02:39:20 No, this was from this summer. Yeah. While ago. But in the summer, was he, when did he get hurt? In the summer? I think as soon as he got traded. Well, that's what I'm, I'm actually wondering, though, like, when did he get? Was he hurt in this video?
Starting point is 02:39:33 No, because he went out for the very first practice. There was video of him going out for the very first practice. Then something happened that first week. He kind of seemed tweak his knee there a little bit. In this video? Yeah. Didn't Monk and take a tire iron to his knee on his way out of the building? Or was that it?
Starting point is 02:39:47 What, do we know when Miles Garrett got hurt to? Because he was limited, limited, swelling, swelling. Swelling would be a meniscus type situation where fluid gets in there. I think we've all experienced that, obviously. Anybody that's ever had a knee, you could certainly get fluid in. Edmonics used to have to get his shit drain. All the time. All the time before every single game, you know, whenever he was down there in Kentucky
Starting point is 02:40:06 and when he joined the Flint Tropics. So we know like swelling definitely happens to the knee, but did he show up hurt? Well, we have to go through a physical for that, like. Yeah, definitely. And we saw him on the field with Aaron Donald in Pat. when it was raining in that video. So it's not like he wasn't, he got there and he didn't practice at all.
Starting point is 02:40:24 Like he definitely was in pads on the sideline with the Rams practicing at some point. But we saw him on the field too in Australia. So they put him out on the field. So it's like, was he thinking he was going to just be able to manage that? And he wasn't able to manage that? And was he managing that the entire time? That's why they were having swelling in the knee.
Starting point is 02:40:40 He wasn't in there. Like that's, I have a, I have some questions on why I thought I was going to see Miles Garrett and Aaron. Donald together this year. And now that's seemingly delayed for the foreseeable future with, I think, Aaron Donald can't wait to see him back. Oh my God. Monday night football return.
Starting point is 02:41:00 Said uncertain on Big Day with Big Shragues. Uh-oh. Still Tee's on the list. Why would he not be playing? He's playing. Because he only came back to play with Miles. Now Miles is out, bro. My head might have to wait another five weeks a month.
Starting point is 02:41:14 Head coach Sean McVeigh on if Aaron Donald will play Monday. Haven't decided yet. Big Day with Big Shire. Shraig says uncertain. So how many different ways can we phrase this? Let's toss this in chat, GPT, and see how many different ways we can say, we don't know.
Starting point is 02:41:29 One way or the other, why would they tell you, though? They literally never should. It would be cool for us to just get excited about, though, maybe Monday on football having Aaron Donald return to a football field for the first time in multiple years where a guy who's potentially going to go down as greatest defensive football player of all time is hopping back in the saddle in Los Angeles
Starting point is 02:41:48 with a team. needs him, needs a spark, needs it Aaron Donald. Because the first week down in Australia, down under, they took a poop down under in their pants. All of them. All of them are eating Vegeamite sandwiches. Ugh. Right to the face.
Starting point is 02:42:03 Vege shite. It was veggie shite, wasn't it? It was a veggie shite. That found them on the AFC-NFC shite division as the Super Bowl favorites. So maybe 99 coming back is the only spark that they need for an entire team. So maybe they need to tell us a little earlier, you know, if they're going to have that. Or maybe the New York football Giants. He has one that physicality.
Starting point is 02:42:29 You don't think Aaron Donald wants that physicality. You're kind of disrespecting on the other. He doesn't want to see Pat Ricard in the egg up. Who's that? C.C. Marinerer. I fucking love Mariner. Me too. That guy's a beast.
Starting point is 02:42:42 Yeah, he is. Baldy named them all. He named them all, didn't you? Yeah, he did. As soon as he said. He did. In Baldy, I think he does kind of literally watch every single snap of every single offensive line. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 02:42:54 I think we could have dropped any of the teams, even the Shite Division teams, offensive guard. Hey, I want to hear about this particular set of guards on this team. I think he would have had that for us. But you're right, Marinera, unbelievable. Yeah. Just an absolute greater. 310-pound record, how you don't keep moving. And then they got to deal with likely.
Starting point is 02:43:10 And this was something I think, you know, we should have, could have mentioned last night if we were to knew that Kenneth Walker was going to be to Belcow. You know, whenever you're hand the ball off a lot like that, you know what that does? Sucks them up. That sucks them up. And then who's right behind there? Oh, Travis Kelsey from 57 yards. Big holes.
Starting point is 02:43:29 You know, that is kind of what. That's going to be for the Giants there with likely because they got a lot of, they got a lot of meat. So you got to get people in the box, right? And if you're a linebacker, you're going to have to get up there. You're all right? You have to go. Got to honor it. Got to honor that run, yeah.
Starting point is 02:43:44 And then guess what's happening in the AJ Hawke? He's just sitting there. You're getting sucked on. It's sucked up. Euphoria has happened. Oh, I'm going to make a play. And then all of a sudden, boom. Yep.
Starting point is 02:43:56 Right behind. Jody. Boom. Isaiah likely. Boom. Travis Kelsey. Boom. All these teams that are going to run,
Starting point is 02:44:03 have tight ends that can make catches in are fast. Yes, correct. That's going to happen right there. That is the 13 evolution here. Because also fake block, tight end. Shed, idiot. Sucked up linebacker. Yep.
Starting point is 02:44:16 Gone. I mean, that. That is what this becomes, right? Especially if we're talking about the 13 run-heavy offenses that we're about to see, probably. Yeah, think about if you're playing, like, D-butt, no, say you're playing, man, you're on a tight end, he's on the line of scrimmage. Have a linebacker sometimes. And you're walked up and you're on them and say it's third and short, second and medium, whatever it is. And you're like, okay, here, I got to hold the C-gabber, I got to hold the edge if they're going to run to me.
Starting point is 02:44:38 And all of a sudden, he flashes like he's blocking, boom, it slides right by you. And you look like an idiot fall on your face. And they throw you a seam route right behind you. Yep, I got benched like that in my second year. Dustin Keller, Monday night football, Jets, 22 person. I think it was like third or fourth and one. Same exact situation. AJ talked about, got the edge, gave me a little flash, boop.
Starting point is 02:44:57 And then after after, I'm like, fucking Dustin Keller would never be at the point of attacking a run. What am I doing? Boom, had like a 50-yard game. But yeah, it's part of it. Happens quick. Got to honor it. And all it takes is one play. All it takes is one play.
Starting point is 02:45:11 Yeah, and obviously what the Bears are going to do with Ben Johnson, tight ends are going to go crazy, even though they even didn't on this particular Sunday, it's only a matter of time before tight ends right behind the linebackers. That's why being able to throw this ball right here is so important. The layered ball, right? Yeah, and this modern NFL offense, got to be able to throw this ball right here. Got to get over that linebacker who got sucked up and it's,
Starting point is 02:45:35 oh! As are going back, you know? Going back this way. Got to get over there. And they're tall? Oh, yeah? Tall lanky. Got to get over there.
Starting point is 02:45:43 And then there's a corner probably on the outside. That's probably got some short of shell coverage out there. And then you've got a safety on the inside. So you've got to get it over in between on time. That's what you've got to do as a quarterback. If you can do that, it feels like you can really prosper. Doesn't matter when you're picked. You can be Mr. Irrelevant.
Starting point is 02:46:03 You can be the number one overall pick like Caleb Williams. It does feel like if you have a run game and you can layer a ball, your offense is going to do really well in this one. modern NFL. And Lamar Jackson, yeah. He certainly figured it out as well. We had a linebacker on the field. I don't know if you guys saw this. The Colts had a linebacker on the field for 42 snaps, 42 plays. Zero anything. He was a linebacker. He's a linebacker. He's a linebacker. How does that happen? Zero. No way. What? No way. Not even like a half tackle? Didn't jump on a pile. I don't even know if he saw a pile. I don't know if we tackled anybody.
Starting point is 02:46:44 for my Bailey McComis is one to send me the stack because obviously Bailey is a 42 I think he had 42 snaps if we can try to find this what Bailey McCona said if it's real or not or if Bailey was just sending me a rage man yeah could have been doing this guy it's PFF PFF grade so you know take it for what it is shout out to Sunday night football not doing that anymore that is very cool not to have to learn that the worst football player on earth is going to be on my TV screen tonight I'm happy I don't have to do it wait they're not doing it or home die just not have the grades nope they're not putting it up they're not putting it up the graphic really good point
Starting point is 02:47:14 point. They don't have their radio. They don't have the grazier. No, they're not doing it because PFF sold. It's not connected to NBC anymore. Chris Collinsworth. Congratulations, bro. Doing on you, Chris. I mean, he certainly raised a little bit of hell with that thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:47:28 You got really loud, but congratulations. Yeah. According to PFF, linebacker Jalen Carly did not record a single stat, 42 snaps played. Wow. Now, they might have updated that. Maybe he had 42 tackles. I'm not hers and sure, but early reports is there wasn't a lot happening on a defense.
Starting point is 02:47:44 side of the ball. But how could he? You got was in, imagine. Set high the ball. Sat high. He got, wow. To a tackle. Jump on the pile, like you said. Also, according to PFF, I believe Caleb was like the 25th best quarterback this weekend. And that's why Caleb immediately afterwards was like, you'll see you with PFF. We can get a lot better. We can get a lot better. How about baldy saying they'll have some points on the board? I could have been 80. And then on the flip side, is Chicago going to be able to stop anybody?
Starting point is 02:48:11 We talk about, you know, the football gods with single possession games and kind of getting lucky. It's like Carolina Panthers were very high on their offense or are we very worried about the turnover dependent Chicago Bears defense from last year? They got a former head coach Dennis Allen, so I have faith in them to figure it out and figure it out and get better. There was a stretch last year. They played with like no healthy linebackers for a decent stretch of the season. So they will figure it out. I think they will get better. Will they be at the same pace that they were at?
Starting point is 02:48:41 last year, no, but if their offense can score like that, just get a few turnovers and, you know, give up 21 or less. But also at the same time, I am kind of high on the Panthers' offense. I like Bryce Young. He's playing for a ton of money, playing for a big contract. I love T-Mack out there wide out. Love Jalen Coker, big Hubbard. Like, I love a lot they have going on on the offense.
Starting point is 02:49:01 Now, a new play caller, we'll see, you know, we'll see if he can keep this up because once you kind of get the book on a guy, you know, how successful things be. How's the NFC South doing, Conman? I think they had a solid week. I don't think they won, but I do think they're... The division as a whole. I know people who were Panthers fans actually were looking down at everybody else saying,
Starting point is 02:49:23 oh, what up, bitch, Saints fans, Falcons fans, you guys fucking suck. We scored 37 points. So they're actually in first points. Oh, because they scored the most amount of points in a loss, even though the entire division lost. Bingo, yes. They feel as if they want... I would like what the Saints did. I think what the Saints did was good.
Starting point is 02:49:40 and I appreciate Kelly Moe, respecting ball. Going. And going for two there. Yeah, I got to. Thank you, Kelly Mo. Don't love the play goal. Kelly Mo, your offense has done so well. You're a super genius.
Starting point is 02:49:53 Obviously, you have a quarterback that can shuck that thing. I don't like just a fade. I feel like you're just kind of putting that into the fate of football. It's kind of like me doing a universe ball in here. Like, certainly can get it, but can we not, you know, let's have a guarantee type play here to win the game, potentially as opposed to just a bailout fade. other than that, okay, I'm being a little negative about that particular play call. Everything else, I love what I saw from the same.
Starting point is 02:50:15 Oh, that's a base. That's a, what do you guys just call that, AJ Star Route? A little sit from the outside, a little seven route from the slot. I think it's a good job out of the defense. You got to force. That's common. That happens. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:50:26 No, I need to see some shit. You want to shuck this spurnatible a bit, maybe give me a run option there if he has to. Yeah, I just need to see, you know, this is like betting on the coin toss. It's over immediately. I would like to see. That's good defense right there. If you pause it at the top of the route, ideally you got a flat route.
Starting point is 02:50:42 So you got somebody running to the pipeline, and you have a guy sitting right on the goal line. And then on the back line, you got that corner route. So you got three options, you know, and Detroit just did a great job covering them all up, honestly. Yeah, running back into flat, obviously a touchdown. If he gets there, that's a complete opposite side of where he's looking. Obviously, he's one, two, three to that side.
Starting point is 02:51:01 And obviously, maybe if the Detroit line secondary has a miscommunication, that guy's wide-ass open, and we say it's a great call. That's what you're saying? What I'm saying is I need a fucking docy dough. I need some real magic. Like what the Chiefs did last night? Now, on that note, not only what the Chiefs did, the commanders. I like Justin Fields on the field with Patrick Mahomes, by the way.
Starting point is 02:51:24 And I like that they gave that to Kenneth Walker, you know, because I like that they were drawing up touchdowns for the guys that we super boosted. Let's continue to try to think about that as we go forward. Like, hey, who are they going to want to score touchdowns for going forward? The commanders, I thought that, I liked that there was a gimmicky in this. You're going to right into Jalen Carter, right? I mean, doesn't that feel like? But once again, if they jump and bite and that's wide open, could be a genius.
Starting point is 02:51:45 I didn't really love it either. It's about the players. What do you say? It's about the players, not the play. I believe it's what Tom said on the broadcast. David Bluff here's no man. Yeah, I didn't like that. I mean, look at that spin move he did to make this play, though.
Starting point is 02:51:58 He's on the other side of the line. Two guys spin back into it. And once again, like, if that ends up working out, genius. Yeah. Absolutely genius. But instead, I look at it and I go, I hate that. Why is that what we're doing? Now, the reason why they had to do that in the situation.
Starting point is 02:52:16 Yeah, unbelievable. Yeah, unbelievable. He jumps like six yards. Yeah, it's like six yards of movement. Think about being that big, that athletic. That'd be sweet. That's why I saw last night on the field. You just kind of get reminded of how big these guys are
Starting point is 02:52:28 and how athletic everybody is. Yeah, I mean, he's way outside. Way out. He reads it, too. Oh, where are they going? Oh, they're going to. Bang, let me hit that thing. Boom.
Starting point is 02:52:38 You didn't think I was going to be here, didn't you? Nope, not supposed to be there at all. Wins the game. Now, why did they have to do that? Hmm. The fuck's going on with Stefan Dix. Wow. What the hell is going on?
Starting point is 02:52:51 Now, could he not stop? And maybe the refs should have gave him a little bit of grace here because he was going so, oh, you know what I mean? I mean, that looks. Do we know that's a penalty? Did they know? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:53:01 Yeah. Jimmy Graham kind of. Well, Jimmy Graham dunking on it. I think A.B. used to. Yeah, Pac-Man actually started. A-B and Pac-Man, yeah, this was... And then they said, no more touching me upright at all, right? That kind of became a thing.
Starting point is 02:53:15 Yeah, can't use anything on the fields of a problem. I think when Tomlin put him in against us, when AB ran the punt back, I think he did this gimmick right here. Yeah, he did. Okay, we all remember that. Some of us actually had a view from like 30 yards away on the ground while it was happening going, why the fuck is that guy in the game right now?
Starting point is 02:53:35 That's what I said. You know, I was a little bit of... But Pac-Man. did it back in the day. A.B. did it. Obviously, Jimmy Graham was dunking on it. And they said, you're not not not to touch anything. But Stefan Diggs in the moment, forgot about that because he was just going so fast. He was like, I need to stop. Let me run my penis in this. Yeah. And he did. Yeah. I mean, that was a full send. Yeah, it was. Almost like a jackass kid.
Starting point is 02:53:54 A little bit. Seriously. I'm going to run full speed into a pole with my balls. Yep. He says, apparently, buddy. You can't do that. I don't think so. Not on this football field. And what do you do cost his team? They did. But if you didn't score a touchdown, they wouldn't be in a situation. So there's always the constant, you know. Duality of man.
Starting point is 02:54:14 Classic shite calls from the refs every time. I mean, it's just never ended with these guys. You think they should have respected the fact that he rammed his entire bit into the pole there? I mean, there's just some calls around the league that were just Bush League. I mean, dolphins got, not that it mattered, we would have lost anyways, but they got flagged on a third and 15 for a pass breakup because the guy did an incomplete sign 15. in yards. I heard there are some Packers fans were also not happy about like maybe the officiating. Is that real?
Starting point is 02:54:44 Yeah, big time. You know, a couple like multiple times stopping him on third down and kind of just phantom flags. Carson Went's throwing an interception kind of just flag coming out of nowhere. Carson Went's getting sacked and because he's just a big lumbering shit house didn't know how to fall down on his own so we get the body weight thing, you know, give him another first down.
Starting point is 02:55:00 A couple things, but again, you know, don't put yourself in that position. Don't put yourself in the position to bitch about the refs. Well, there's people I think that are just out on the NFL because of the Yeah, I did hear that as well. Not out on the Packers, out on the fucking league as a whole.
Starting point is 02:55:15 Because. Yeah, refs are full of shit. I heard some gripes about refs last night. That was fun. That was really fun. Not holding here. I think TC did ask a couple questions about the officiating. You know, I think he certainly did. I did see the internet was
Starting point is 02:55:31 pissed. A couple missed holding calls. Yeah, Broncos fans were not happy. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, As soon as Travis got called for one, I think, right? Travis got called for a home. He did not get called on the home touchdown. They were all mad about. Oh, so I was with Jason on that one.
Starting point is 02:55:46 Because hands are inside. I mean, hands are inside. They were not. Hands are inside. The guy turned sideways. And what is he? He's still good for him. I mean, he gets good blocking for him.
Starting point is 02:55:57 They're never going to call that. Never going to call that. There was one in the Lions game where Saints fans were very upset. And I kind of agree with them on this one. All right. Well, let's not, let's not have this. happened this year. Was that the intent fumble that Foxy?
Starting point is 02:56:10 Oh, yeah. He tended to throw it forward. Yeah, I don't think I fully get this one. I don't either. Rules are rules? Oh. Yeah. I didn't see that.
Starting point is 02:56:21 Oh, yeah. So he intended to throw the ball forward, and the forward motion of his arm did start. So his intentions were to throw the ball forward instead because he was blasted so hard by Chase, the ball went backwards, which in any other time of football would be live ball. So I guess the rules is, though, that just because Goff thought about throwing it forward, that shit's just an incomplete pass. First time I heard that one. Jack Fox hit a, I don't know, 80-yard punt after this to flip the field.
Starting point is 02:56:56 Oh, what a stud. On third down. He's a monster. Yeah. I saw punt God last night, hit some beautiful ones. Denver Bronco. It was really windy. I mean, it was really, really windy in there.
Starting point is 02:57:09 That was one of those days standing there, just feeling that shit. Thank God I don't have to deal with this. My entire life is dependent upon this win not completely fucking me here. I only got 17 of these games. Okay, my entire career is on just from this one. And you walk out there, just full on. The drop is going to be insane. If it gets in the air, there's a chance that shit just gets.
Starting point is 02:57:35 spit right back down. Guys did a great job last night. But it was another reminder. I actually told Will Lutz, good luck, bro. A little breezy, huh? That's going to be a good one. And he goes, why are you pointing that out?
Starting point is 02:57:50 It is, man. I watched Bucker Miss 3-4 straight from like 55 plus warming up. Just completely going off to the sound. Like, this is a real problem. And then I felt really good about our ground and pound boost. Yes. I didn't know Harvey was getting somebody touch. Harvey's electric.
Starting point is 02:58:11 We should have done a little research, I guess, that he was going to be getting the ball a lot. He was explosive. Yeah. Got juice. He didn't score, though, either, so. Great returns, though. He's really good for their special teams.
Starting point is 02:58:24 Yeah. J.K. Dobbins didn't score either. No. We love J.K. Would have been nice to hit a plus 600, A.J. Would have been nice to hit a plus 600 on the folks here. You know, first Monday night football? First one should have hit.
Starting point is 02:58:38 I'm sure. All right, if this goes in, we're going to hit their next. Okay. It's not world peace. An intent, dude. It's football season, AJ. I am for no cause. I am for no cause, foreigner domestic, other than football.
Starting point is 02:58:54 Yep. Okay. Guy, he needs to get his dober up. Dee, are bummed out over there. Yeah, he, bombed out. It's over. Chargers? They got dime daubbers everywhere.
Starting point is 02:59:04 You bailed on them anyways. Sorry. Dicks are in the dirt. My dovers up. You got four teams to potentially get your dover going. You're kind of getting 40. Dober from all angles. What are we talking about with rap?
Starting point is 02:59:19 You know he won't right on the big day with big strikes there? Yeah, it looks awesome. Do you think they talk to him about seven, eight minutes about him smoking meats? Should have. Why is anybody talking about that? This guy is a meat smoker. Like a meat smoker's meat smoker. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 02:59:33 He is. All right. This goes in. We're hitting our next boost. Okay. That's right. Sweet. When's that coming? Thursday?
Starting point is 02:59:40 Hmm? Probably? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah? Lions Bill. Lots of points. Oh, we go, points, points, points. Touchdown party.
Starting point is 02:59:49 Oh, yeah. There's a chance we're going to have boots on the ground up there, too. Could be you. Possibly you. Well, Gumpy, yeah. Actually. We got a Bill's fan. We met.
Starting point is 03:00:02 Yeah, we don't necessarily. I don't know if we can set that face up there. Buffalo bone? Unfortunately, I do. fear everybody's going to be looked at as bone if it's not you up there that's very true but it's not about the people there though it's about just showcasing what's happening yeah you know which bone can do there's gonna be can't yeah oh yeah fish eye is that what you're talking about we're using a fucking iPad camera can you imagine though bone goes out there
Starting point is 03:00:28 tailgates does an elbow drop off the top of an RV onto a table with the mustard ketchup man yeah now we're talking off the top of the bison the baby one that that works too He can't get on it, actually, because maybe... Yeah, same size. Like, I'm crumbling down. What do you mean? Do you go fall off? Are you worried about his safety?
Starting point is 03:00:45 I'm worried. Yeah, I'm worried about all parties there. Bison family included. Yeah. Standing on a roof of a car. Dents the car. It ends up in a driver's suit. Yeah, it has to be a tank.
Starting point is 03:00:56 By you're doing good, buddy. Big Bono. Keep walking a more door. He's looking good. He is looking better. He's looking good. He said he was down eight pounds in one of his posts. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 03:01:07 That's awesome. I like that. I love the facial hair decision. I didn't get to see that yesterday. What? You seeing him for the first time. Yeah, it was awesome. It was awesome.
Starting point is 03:01:16 It was one of my favorite moments of the last six months. I told people specifically, I need candid camera up in there when Ty walks in. I need microphone on. I need to just, I need to see first reaction, and I don't need you guys know, I don't need Ty No one that we're recording it, just because that was a very, aggressive decision with something that is very seen, which is a face by D-bone, and
Starting point is 03:01:44 I imagine that you were going to compliment him pretty good. I did. Yeah. It looks like a movie star. I don't know if that's what was being said. What are you talking about? You're not here. That's what he said. How did we miss the recording of this situation? I don't think I've never put
Starting point is 03:02:02 a request in like this when I'm on the road. Thought ahead night before. I'm like oh my fucking God. I can't believe I'm going to miss that. Like, I was very, very bummed out. So I call old faithful Foxy. Foxy, I need GoPro in a corner. I need to fuck.
Starting point is 03:02:17 Even use the PTZ, need the handheld microphone on the escape. We'll just figure it out. I need to see Ty walking in. What the fuck is that? I need, I absolutely. I had it ready to go. And I was like anticipating it. And it was going to be the best part of my entire morning.
Starting point is 03:02:38 Ty didn't notice it because bone faces forward. Ties behind him. So it took like till about 1030. So the recording was over. Like that thing was done with. And then Ty out of nowhere. He hit bone pretty good with some nice comments. What you do?
Starting point is 03:02:53 I think his initial reaction was, oh. Oh my God. See, I know it. It's all right. Well, the best part was Bone said, last time I shaved just a mustache. You told me never to do that again. So.
Starting point is 03:03:10 Kids always got something, Dutney. Always got something over there. He made a great graphic about Michael Loflor's coaching history timeline. I don't know if it got sent in ever, but he made a great graphic
Starting point is 03:03:23 that we should show this. I mean, Bowden really batten 1,000 this morning. This Michael Leflora graphic that he made was certainly something we should have shown at the time, but I don't know if anybody got it. Hey, this is a good graphic, Boe. Yeah, that's on me. The Leflore family's,
Starting point is 03:03:39 says thank you for investing in his history. He was awesome today. He seems like a real psycho. Yeah, I like him. Yeah, me too. I like him a lot. AJ, what are your thoughts on old Mike LaFlor? I love him. After coming on here and listening to him speak, yeah, he's very impressive. He seems to be doing all the right things, even if they would have lost that first game and he would have came on or we would have seen him in a situation like this and hearing him speak. I think, yeah, all right, this guy gets it and he is absolutely obsessed with football. Yeah, and he knows what it's like. We're in a week-to-week business. Seattle Seahawks can ruin everything here
Starting point is 03:04:11 and people say that I should not have this job. Any Arizona Cardinals suck again. If this goes in, we're hitting the next boost. Great graphic there, Bone. Way to keep working towards more door. Bone. But just shaving your face like that was... Yeah.
Starting point is 03:04:28 He shut up at that Colts game. I also thought he was going to a rock concert. I don't know if he knew he was going to a football game. I'm surprised. Kenzie was able to stay in the box. She was. Have you heard? No. She said hello to everybody, half-fire everybody but him.
Starting point is 03:04:45 Oh, no. Yeah. That makes sense. She loves the Halloween song, too. She loves... It's not Frankenstein, huh? He's getting there, though. Keep going, Bone! And I think we are good friends for doing this. Yeah, I'm pulling that, too.
Starting point is 03:05:03 The best. Not the way that you do. Oh, no. Don't call a road show. I haven't seen someone. Eat shit like this back to back days since in a long time. No, but we need to, Bowen needs to continue to be motivated to continue to go to the door. We need to continue to motivate this guy.
Starting point is 03:05:23 Because the way, the path he's on. It's like we've seen movies about this. And I'm not going to say the name of the TV show. Full metal jacket. No. I know a movie tone. What's that one? No, I'm not to say it.
Starting point is 03:05:39 Say what I say. Pat's talking about a TV show. I know exactly which one you're going to. The Goonies? You know what I'm thinking about? No, I'm not talking about the goonies. It's a TV show. I know a TV show you're talking.
Starting point is 03:05:47 They use a crane sometimes. Oh, I wasn't thinking that, but. No, it's not that. It's not that either. Jeez, Louise. That's a compliment. Brendan Frazier won an Oscar for that. Whoa.
Starting point is 03:06:00 That's not the one. That's not the one I was thinking. Okay. We're all on our fitness. Hey, we're all on our fitness journey here. Let's not become fat asses. football season. Okay, all of us. AJ, you're the only person that remains the exact same, seemingly. We got a long road to have. This guy. And Dee Bush, you're right. Yeah, sorry,
Starting point is 03:06:19 DeBuch. Oh, my God. We need to, we need to not become slabs this year. Okay, we need to all hold each other accountable. DeBone, we expect you to hold us accountable. Yeah. In the same fashion, we hold you accountable. Is he still going to Mordor, though? Mm-hmm. Okay. Yeah, I saw him he was walking to Mordor yesterday. Okay, we like that. Nice. Oh, yeah. proud of you, Bone, needs a beard and mustache. For the time being.
Starting point is 03:06:47 We learned. He'll come back. He'll come back soon. It's not just him. I can't shave. None of us is, yeah. Yeah. But, you know, that's why you don't see me fucking coming in here,
Starting point is 03:06:57 clean shave an old time. Bones learning as he goes. Yeah. He's a kid. The young kid still. National champion, too. He's got a lot inside there. I told him, I said, hey, if it means anything.
Starting point is 03:07:09 Come in here tomorrow and get a permanent marker and fucking color of the back beard. My next boost is going to hit. Next boost is going to hit right now. If this goes in, we are going to win. Oh. Good, bro. All right. What's this one for?
Starting point is 03:07:25 We're doing a giveaway? A lot of give away. Yeah, a lot of money. Yeah, a lot of money in Texas. A lot of money in Texas. A lot of people say, hey, a real nice write-off. Yeah. Yeah, give money to a college kid is a write-off.
Starting point is 03:07:38 That'd be cool. if it was. Tax experts. What happened, by the way? I was confused. You guys did another kick in the stadium? Oh, yeah. So Tito, like actual Tito.
Starting point is 03:07:48 For Tito? Yeah, no. Tito's vodka. Oh, Tito's. He's a Texas alum. Yeah. Yeah, he's Texas alum in Austin. I guess he's a massive donor to Texas.
Starting point is 03:08:00 Saw the kick and I don't know, 30 minutes before game started because remember time thing, I didn't, you know, we almost missed it. Matt Garrett. from college game, he goes, hey, Tito wants to do a million dollar kick with Connor in the first quarter. Sound good? I was like, is Tito, is Tito alive? And they're like, oh yeah, Tito's very much alive. And Tito loves Texas, saw what happened earlier, wants to put up a million dollar donation for Connor. He's got two kicks. If he makes one, 500,000 a building tomorrow, 500,000 to Central Texas Food Bank. It'll be in a timeout in the first quarter. And I was like, yeah, sure. This is just wake up.
Starting point is 03:08:37 I'm being told this. So I get over to the little production room we had in a beach volleyball locker room. No, he's sick. Sick. They got a nasty big ping pong table in there. And I go, so what's going on there? They're like, Tito wants to give a million dollars. I'm like, is Tito going to be out there?
Starting point is 03:08:53 Like, no, Glenn Powell's going to be out there. I'm like, okay, Glenn Powell's going to be out there? That's, okay, so it's me, Glenn Powell, Connor, who else? Well, I'll probably have some content people with you. It'll be the third time out first quarter. I go, okay, where am I going to stand there? We'll come get you. then a guy named Drew who's from Texas Fueled Ops, great here.
Starting point is 03:09:11 This guy got a lot of Moxie. He goes, Tito's going to give a million dollars. He's also going to give $250,000 if you missed both kicks. So make sure you say that, please. It's Love, comma, Tito's is the foundation. If you could just kind of get that in there somewhere. I'm like, you got it. So then we roll over the other side.
Starting point is 03:09:25 Glenn Powell and Miles Teller come down. So I was with Top Gun. Yeah, that's a rooster and hangman. Yeah, they were together. Yeah, they were together when they come down on the sideline, I'm like, Miles. Good to see him. He's filming right now. Okay, so I think we got something sweet potentially coming from Miles Taylor, but he was watching a game of Glenn.
Starting point is 03:09:43 So then Glenn and I are figuring out what's going. I'm like, are you going to, I think you should start, right? Don't you think? And he goes, yeah, what is this? And I go, good question. Okay, so we got Drew here. We're about to walk out. It's like, I'd say 15 seconds away from third timeout first quarter about to happen.
Starting point is 03:09:58 And then me and Glenn Powell figuring out as we go, go out there, perfection. Glenn Powell's an absolute beauty, a pro. And then Connor made it on the first kick, 35-yard. They backed it up to the 25. He had a fat ball this time, too, it went through. I think this kid could actually be a kicker if he practiced. He got real pop. He hit that thing.
Starting point is 03:10:15 Yeah, and this one, he hit fat, and it still went through from 35 yards. So that's like hitting a terrible kick. And it got first try in the stadium. Obviously, they showed the video. I think this kid could actually do it. At Texas? I don't know about at Texas. Lucky this kid in America.
Starting point is 03:10:33 I think they got a kicker at Texas. I think they have a good kicker. but he went to Park Tudor High School here in Indiana. He was Indianapolis. He was soccer player, free kick taker for the soccer team, though. So, like, I found that he tagged him in an Instagram post. I go to his Instagram. One of his photos is him about to line up for a free kick.
Starting point is 03:10:51 And I go, this fucking guy's, this guy's a ball striker. Like, this guy's an actual ball striker. And it was obvious. I was so happy for him. How about before it even goes, I'd like to donate half of this thing. That was cool. That was sweet. Yeah, it was awesome.
Starting point is 03:11:02 He was very nice. Yeah, he was very kind. I mean, I tried to tell him, too, I thought he was a rightee. So I told him, hey, you're going to aim at that right post. And then it's going to come back because you're a soccer player, right? He goes, yeah, I go aim at the right post. So then as Matthew McConaughey's talking, I'm learning, he's a lefty alive in real time. And I want to tell him, like, aim at the other upper.
Starting point is 03:11:24 And Matthew McConaughey says, we're going to hit this South Paul with the draw. We're going to be aiming at the left post. And I'm thinking myself, Connor knows that I was talking about the left one. time. Then he pulls that thing. And I go, that's maybe why the second one happened, because I'm like, it's fucking, this could have been my fault. Him with that second
Starting point is 03:11:44 kick, I mean, it was like drilled. No cheese. Pure, yeah, barefoot, pure end-over-end kick. One point two, you know, Matthew O'Connornehey chirping in your, I mean, this kid might have it, actually. Something to think about. I think he loves his time down in Texas. He is like
Starting point is 03:11:59 a really serious degree he's about to get. But AJ, I love this guy, stepping up in a big way. It was expensive, obviously, especially with Dan Lannin hitting for the crossbar, $500,000 there. But I love that he made the kick. I think it was a beautiful moment to kick off the kicking his easy contest for the year. No, he looked like he got that ball up and out quick. I mean, I know I told you, I had some people that have some prominent positions in colleges, universities around the country that were texting me saying they need this kid's number to possibly come kick for their team. Yeah. And obviously, that's kind of said in just, but not really. If you can make this kick, we assume you could probably make some kicks that matter. Obviously, college kids aren't going to be perfect ever at any position as they try to develop and go through life and handling different situations and not just kicking position, but literally every single position.
Starting point is 03:12:50 But this kid had a great start. And obviously, he's getting a lot of money donated and a lot of money. So that's over, so $600,000 to building tomorrow, which is an Indianapolis Foundation that does schools. leave in Africa. And then there's another 500,000 coming from Tito. So that's 1.1 million to building tomorrow. And then 500,000 to the Central Texas Food Bank. And then 500,000 to the Dan Lanning. Oh, boy. Cancer. 550,000 to the Sumay. There's a, there's a name. I think it's Sue May. It was, oh, we tweeted it. Anyways, to a cancer foundation. It's like, over $2 million in donations from one Saturday morning.
Starting point is 03:13:37 Sam Day, sorry, Sam Day Foundation for Cancer Research out there. It's like, that was a hell of a Saturday. Yeah, it was. That was an awesome Saturday, super positive. It did feel like the football gods were telling me Texas, you know? I was shocked. Did I pick Texas? Yeah.
Starting point is 03:13:53 I know. I put this tweet out that I was 100% picking Ohio State. And some people go, would you put this out if they didn't win? It's like, yeah, I would have. Because my entire thing is the North, brother. like that is kind of all I have. But that morning it just felt like, it felt like a special, it really did.
Starting point is 03:14:10 It felt like a pretty special day down there. Hot as fuck, but it felt like it was the turn of something special. Now, granted, Ohio State, certainly early there looked like they're about, just to fuck all of that. First three quarters. How do you guys feel over there?
Starting point is 03:14:22 How's Ohio State people reacting to what happened down there in Texas? You know, they're not too pumped, but I think they still know, like that long season. Let's make sure we're playing our best ball at the end of the year. Where did AP put him at in the ranking after losing to Texas? Six, I think. See, I think that's...
Starting point is 03:14:38 It's all right. Yeah, I mean, obviously, is this a 1-1? Yes, it did. Foxy. Judas. Used to be one. Now the first one of the next five. Yeah.
Starting point is 03:14:54 Yes. One of the second. The first one of the second tier five. Right. Which, you know, obviously makes sense. No of those rankings matter except for the above average poll. Happy that made a return today. Okay, if this goes in, we're going to hit our next boost.
Starting point is 03:15:10 Okay. Okay. Nice. First time. Maybe like plus 150. It'd be all the boosts. Just for the rest of the season? Yeah. That's a lot of boosts, I think.
Starting point is 03:15:25 Yeah. I mean, we're kind of, we've done a lot already. Not a lot of games have happened, really. Four and two. Let's go, lads. This is for all of them? Mm-hmm. All the.
Starting point is 03:15:36 marbles all of them sorry boys oh fuck let's go out of here let's go out of here be a friend tell friends I'm nice it might change your life we're in this thing together I'm so sorry I had a moment right there for all of our future selves all of our future selves could have just been kind of just casual and just free and easy but instead we're gonna have to sweat it out every fucking time on my head you try to get in tomorrow that's true that how it works do to boost tonight I don't the rules are, but it feels like there aren't any. I think I try it again tomorrow. Oh, so it's college sports.
Starting point is 03:16:14 Pretty much. Probably, nope. Nope. I was pretty happy that I wasn't part of that second. Yep. I was like that to go on the record. I was pretty pumped not to be over there because, boy. That was, that was, I think it really did.
Starting point is 03:16:31 Was it 45 minutes or did just feel like 45 minutes? It was a thousand degrees in there, I will say. You had me, Des and Kirk up on the set, just huffing the air conditioning underneath the stairs or underneath the desk. Just like, well, I don't know if his message is landing. I don't know, man. I don't know if they're hearing it.
Starting point is 03:16:52 You know, I don't know. People are not happy. You know, from my understanding, and we're learning this in real time, I think we're pretty young in our careers here. I think we're pretty young in this entirety. So there's a lot of learning lessons to be had. but any time, no matter what your intent is, no matter what it is, your intent can be pretty pure.
Starting point is 03:17:15 Your intent could be probably very reasonably explained what your intent is. Any time a politician gets involved, we're learning this, we have learned this, you're just immediately, every decision that this person has ever made, ever, in the history of everything. Oh, is that right? You want future generations to have a dream and a goal for fitness aspirations and the head of Disney, the head of ABC, and the head of ESPN are all here. And the government wants to get behind it and have a presidential fitness test and maybe make this something special. You obviously give away $1.2 million for a kick on a Saturday. You don't think maybe a future fitness test for like the next 20 years, 30 years would be something that I'd be very inspired to do for the next generation to be fitness and win a bunch of money and have goals and aspirations to stay in shape and do that thing.
Starting point is 03:18:05 you know that that was my intention okay like that that was that was what i was thinking honored to even be like i mean you got a lot of disney abc espn gumpy myself okay so like that was in my head what i was doing lo and behold though every decision that was made by president trump because i that was my intention, I agree with, I guess, is everything that he has ever done in his entire life and this entire thing. And that is not how a majority of people feel, but it is a significant portion of our society at this stage in 2026 where if you just, if you have an idea of what this is for, even, and I will say I was pretty oblivious to the reality of the situation in this, because once again, what I thought I was doing versus what everybody ended up telling me I was doing.
Starting point is 03:19:02 is just so vastly different. But I think that is something that is just very real. And I believe, I'm not 100% sure, but I believe everybody on college game day was like, this isn't really, you know, what it should be. But I don't think everybody fully understood just how bad it was going to go in real time, you know, especially with how hot it was.
Starting point is 03:19:25 But that's the reality of the business. Like we have learned that, and that has been a lesson that has been very loud and will continue to be loud. Because in the politics world, the politic pundit and the politic accounts on the internet and the political people, you know, it's life or death every single decision that has been made for them, which is, I understand, because politics has actual sway on how people's lives are going to go. So that's how they act. So there's no like, hey, we think to protect college sports act would be good for college sports as a whole. There's a, what, 860 commissioner, everybody that is in the sport and around the world of college sports likes this. so we would like this to be something that is topical and maybe get a vote done
Starting point is 03:20:06 so that the future of all college sports is in a much better place and a safer space. But what it ends up happening is, what did Ted Cruz vote for on this? Is this what you're? This is what you're? This is what you're? This is what you're? And it's like, I don't know if anybody's even hearing what he's saying. I think they're just thinking of things
Starting point is 03:20:23 that he's done in the past and immediately saying this is what it is. And that's what 226 is. I think that's a world that we're in. And yeah, I think everybody, Everybody's kind of just kind of learning and experiencing as we go here what it's like. A boy, those political people, they get really mad, really quick. Oh, yeah. And I'm like, all right, I get it.
Starting point is 03:20:43 Because we're just trying to do sports every year. But then you bring a politician in, and it's like, well, now you, now you're associated to everything that that person's up, and I don't think I fully understood that. Until that is really what is now, you know. Because I've learned a lot about myself and how I feel about things from, a large portion of people telling me that. I'm like, what the fuck, man? I wanted the agro-crag, bro.
Starting point is 03:21:07 I just wanted a fucking agro-crag for these kids. That's what I wanted, man. You know, and it's like, no, that isn't what you wanted. That is not what you wanted. Let me tell you what you actually wanted. And then it's like, you're the worst person of all fucking time because I'll f. All right. I just wanted kids not to be fat so.
Starting point is 03:21:31 We will take that into consideration going to, forward and hopefully this will be something that ends up working out long term, but you guys are having a politician on? Yeah, I'd like to not be I'd like to not be there. Because I don't have enough time to go through everything that's fucking guys voted for. And that's
Starting point is 03:21:47 just on me not being able to do that. I got a lot of football going on. I wasn't the only one that was like I don't want to be, can you not have? What would I add? Dead awesome. Give me the fuck out of here. Reese, I think handled that about as good as
Starting point is 03:22:03 you know but it wasn't like game day was like hey we should do this that needs to be said like game day wasn't like hey we would like to do this that was something that was pretty chaotic situation i would say the night before i would say gumpy is that how you would describe it as it was kind of rolled into discussion yeah it was quite a turn of events at a nice dinner we were having uh ended pretty abruptly there was a nice it was a nice production dinner happening i love to getting around everybody it's great to see everybody it's fun you know obviously matt garrett sitting in the chair now cutting which is huge for all parties because how awesome he is and we walk in there
Starting point is 03:22:41 and he's just sweating it's like you know all right buddy this is a good setup dude got a good food in here we all have to figure something out here and i'm like oh yes and then kind of wait for everybody to come in and then all of a sudden it's okay so this is what has happened and then all of a sudden you got ideas from everywhere and it's like oh yeah i like this and where we landed was you know rice is a journalist Reese, countered a couple times in his questions, but not enough to the counter's liking. So I believe there is now NAACP president coming on to ESPN today or tomorrow. So kind of showcase what that is, because that's a whole other angle that doesn't get started.
Starting point is 03:23:21 It's like, okay, you've got to be able to. So what I'm going to say from this moment forward, I am going to be as vigilant as possible to stay the fuck away from all of that, because unless we do it all. But whenever it comes to that agro-crack in the future, I am going to have to make that happen because of what everybody said to me about this entire thing. So that is goal going forward. That little mitus will have an opportunity
Starting point is 03:23:46 to potentially win like a million dollars because he's an absolute beast. Now, granted, we hope that is with any administration going forward, but in real time with where we're starting, obviously people don't know if that's the case. and there's a lot of people talking about what our demographic is and who our demographic is, I don't think you fucking know.
Starting point is 03:24:08 I don't think you have any idea what our demo is because we literally just try to be sports. And we haven't been perfect with that. I think Game Day, if you had to go back, a lot of people would say, yeah, right, we should not even come close to that. But I do think we are all just trying, our intent is always, like, for the good of sport,
Starting point is 03:24:26 for the good of everything. But there's not a lot of people that care about intention unless it's the NFL and Jared Goff. trying to throw that thing. Yes, that's right. Well said. Be your friend, tell a friend something nice about you, but change your life.
Starting point is 03:24:36 Oh, yeah. We're in this thing together. I learned so much about me while they're saying such mean things. I'm like, is that how I don't fucking feel? Who said I said that? Then you got those little fake quote counts. Like, hey, yeah, this fucking guy does this. Did you hear what he said about this?
Starting point is 03:24:52 It's like, I never said. What the fuck said that? Can somebody community note this thing? No, they actually don't have it on this platform. Okay. So how many people saw it? Five, six million. Is anybody going to tell them not that that's not real?
Starting point is 03:25:06 Good luck out there, man. Okay, let's just not do that again. And that's kind of where we're living. Yep. Football. Football. Football. And other sports if they're doing cool shit.
Starting point is 03:25:20 That's right. Mostly football. Football. Sure. Baseball is going to be good. Come playoffs. Football. And there's basketball, obviously.
Starting point is 03:25:29 Baggy ball. and the finals around him. Who we won the World Cup. What? The basketball. Oh, yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah? No, we're fucking done with World Cup soccer.
Starting point is 03:25:39 Yeah. I'm not even going to, I'm not, next World Cup. We're not even talking about one time. Gavin Sullivan's cooking. He might be the one. Did you see him? He's 18 years old. He's on a one-way trip out of the MLS because they negotiated his-
Starting point is 03:25:50 He better be. Because he must. He better be. I don't give a fuck about a kid who's the next Wonderkin playing in the MLS. Leo Essie. He's, he's, fucking 40. And he's the best player in the league by a long shot.
Starting point is 03:26:04 Get this kid to the Premier League and then perform over there and then we can get excited. He's really good. He had two goals the other night. Backheeled. For the Union? Who are they playing in the fucking Montreal, Quebec? San Diego Padres. That's not their name. Padres
Starting point is 03:26:20 are a baseball team. That's South Dakota. That's San Diego. I don't think South Dakota. San Diego have an MLS team. They're two years in. The high-flyers? Yeah, they are high-fliers. name. Jesus. What? San Diego FC. This league sucks.
Starting point is 03:26:37 Yeah. No shit. We've known this. I know we have. Okay. This league sucks. We got Matthew. We got Bethy. I know we have methie. They even fucking play. What are the goddamn playoffs? He doesn't give a fuck. These fuckers have been playing for fucking 18 months straight, the same season.
Starting point is 03:26:52 Trying to get on the same damn schedules. Is Bobby Boanga playing? Bobby Boanga has struggling right now. Yeah, exactly. I'm out. So we're doing football Football The real football And baseball
Starting point is 03:27:05 What about Football No Football? Yeah I try I don't give a fuck Be your friends
