Beautiful people, and welcome to our Humbley Bo, the Draft King's Thunderdome.
On this big time Tuesday, October 6, 2026, this sports program begins now.
Football!
It's the greatest, and last night down in New Orleans, as they celebrated 20 years of the Superdome reopening after Katrina.
They had a Falcons team come to town for that celebration, and boy, from the third play on,
it felt like it was a pretty dominating experience for the Atlanta Falcons against the New Orleans.
Saints. Now, these
Robinson's in the backfield for the Atlanta
Falcons might be unstoppable, especially
because Bijon Robinson,
Bijon Robinson, Bejohn Robinson.
Is it? I think he said it right, all three times.
Bejohn. I think Bijon, but he's
okay with Bejohn. So that was a conversation
before Monday Night Countdown, you know, because
Scott Van Pelt does his show
in D.C. J. Mack is
in New York and Connecticut. We're out
here, you know, so there's different groups of
conversations all happening. So I like
we all got on the same page for the show,
but now that I wake up this morning,
I don't remember which page that was that we were on.
Nonetheless, he's unstoppable.
This guy just watching him warm up
and even jog out of the tunnel, he glides.
He is a stallion
that somehow has the nimbility
of a ninja, I would say.
I think he has
the pull-away speed of a track star.
He has the power in the balance
of a sumo wrestler somehow.
And then he has the vision of
somebody that a mega mind.
Fighter jet. Yeah, yeah, fighter jet. Okay,
one of those, yeah, one of the, yeah, fighter
jet. Firepott. He sees
these cuts early. Yeah.
Seemingly sees the cuts early. He sets up
his blocks. He has the sonar
of where dudes are as if he's a
dolphin. Does he talk to the dolphin? He speaks to
the dolphin. He feels the dolphin.
He has every trait that you would want in a
running back. I mean, he's pulling away
from people as if he's playing at a different level
than they are. It's a different
video game setting. It's a different
age generation it feels like whenever an older kid's playing against a younger kid this is a special
talent and then Brian Robinson had three touchdowns last night this guy used to be the starter for
the commander so beijon's going to head and dazzle you he's going to shake the shit out of you that
offensive line unbelievable Jake matthews has 200 plus starts in a row absolute iron man he ends up
leaving the game they bring in a sixth offensive lineman he pummles people as well they're willing
to do it Kevin stefansky's offense Nick chub we saw him go crazy whenever he was in cleveland
them have a great run game in the past.
I think you pair that with the fact that Pennix can spin it, for real.
And defenses are going to have to respect that.
Now, did the New Orleans Saints have a plan for Bijon?
We don't know.
I mean, we didn't see it.
It looked like that.
Well, we kind of do know, yeah.
Troy told us on the broadcast.
Nine-year NFL vet, Darius J. Bother is here.
Bernie Batchie.
Yeah, Troy did say, like, when we were talking to Brandon Staley,
he sure sounded like he didn't really know what they were going to do,
but you do think about that Atlanta Falcons offense that was on full display.
Obviously, they can pummel you,
and Bijon can make magic, and Brian can do that.
But Penix can, Drake London's going insane too in this particular offense.
They are the most high-powered offense that we've seen in some time very quickly.
Can they only get better?
And why do you think Pennix has been the key to kind of activate it all?
Because before Pennix was in there with, I didn't say this.
A lot of people have, though.
That's the talks table at Boston Connor and that Ty Schmidt.
They probably were the ones that sent me the things that were saying this.
One half of the hammer, that Cowboys AP Tone against Pittsburgh Steelers.
He definitely said.
He thought. Yeah.
And we're a big Mr.
Cush fan.
Oh, yeah.
We love Mr. Cush out there.
But they were calling him Pooper Rush, man.
They were saying.
Cooper flush.
Yeah.
Some of those.
Yeah, Cooper didn't flush almost because the dump was just still sitting.
They were dumping on for Cush, who has had a great NFL career.
Saw him last night, big lad.
I appreciate what Cooper Rush has done throughout the entirety.
When he was with Cowboys, we remember the incredible run that he won on.
But he was playing terrible football at the Falcon.
They looked very bad.
And we had to start to wonder, like, is Kevin Stefanski ever going to get a guy at
quarterback position?
Penance, I mean, the big question, Mark, can he say healthy?
But if Penning can say healthy, this offense can keep up with anybody, Dee Budd?
Is that what you saw last night?
Absolutely. We had the tell the tape get popped up before the game yesterday.
And it's kind of, you know, not real, I guess, because it's the only second game with
Pennix at the helm.
And yeah, it's just a full offense, full control of an offense with those weapons down the
field, Drake, London, when Kyle Pitts, whenever he actually gets involved, having that
offensive line, Akew's when Akew's was here, he spoke, and we kind of all spoke on all
the weapons and all the different things that they have in place.
But yeah, when you have a quarterback that can operate the system,
and the numbers don't look gaudy.
They don't look unbelievable, but 15 for 20, moving the ball down the field,
then a run game.
When you have the run game, you can lead on you.
You talk about Bijan, then having the guy that could come and spell him.
But Brian Robinson, I know that is hell for a defender.
When you can have a guy resting, catching his breath,
and another guy running it down your throat,
you keep both of those horses happy in the back field.
This offense, man, I think this is just kind of scratching the surface
of what they can be.
And then on the defense is the side of the ball,
the complimentary football on that side as well,
man, it's gonna be a very, very good football team
as it goes on.
It looks like he's just skating, man.
I mean, float, damn near 22 miles and out.
That's unbelievable.
Yeah, it was...
That angle.
Floats.
He also super happy.
It seems like he's such a jolly guy.
It does feel like they have that entire
kind of vibe on their sideline.
We're on that, their side.
Got a chance to walk and walk around
everything happening in the warm-ups.
It's like just the vibes.
It felt great.
And then talking to Stefanski, you know, let him know we were live on air.
We're live, we're live.
He goes, okay, already.
He kind of walks away.
I don't know what that conversation was going to be.
I got a chance to catch up with him at a golf tournament, you know, where you're not allowed to have any phones.
And just talking about the situation where, you know, how he felt he was in, what we certainly said about him.
Yeah, no doubt.
What he heard.
And then obviously he had gotten a job already with the Falcons at that point in the same state where that golf tournament is.
So talking to him about the current situation and how he got it so quickly and how that was my mind.
blowing to us. I mean, like, he got a job immediately. And it was like, so the Browns were
good? I don't think I understand why he got a job so quickly. Then you really start looking
at all the quarterbacks. Now, he pushed Baker Mayfield. Not just him, I think. Him and the Browns
pushed Baker Mayfield out of there after they want a playoff game in Pittsburgh. As Cleveland
Browns want a playoff game in Pittsburgh, somehow Baker Mayfield's a problem. He gets pushed out of town.
That's a mistake, I think. If you were to go back, now, granted, Baker maybe said I was a little
different person then as well. But you look at the
quarterbacks that Saffansky has had to operate with now
since that moment in his
offensive system that he is supposed to be a wizard at.
It's like, I think he's been waiting and waiting
and waiting for a quarterback that
he could probably operate with. He's got to
be so pumped with what Pinnock's has done thus
far, because I don't think any of us knew. I think
Pennix is won on Monday night football game last year
a week six against the bills. So he's had flashes of being good, but
then he gets injured. Flashes of being good, then he gets injured.
Stefansky knows like, okay, I've got to keep this guy
healthy. I got to keep him healthy.
Can we do that run, run, run.
Let's worry about the run game here.
Let's hopefully keep the pocket a little bit loose.
And then I got to give him a weapon.
I got to give them some easy throws.
They started that game with like a swing, like something easy, quick.
Let's let them get going.
And when Pennick starts vibe, he can operate any offense.
And if you have a great run game, Connor, this Atlanta Falcons team in the offense, I think, can continue to go.
And then you've got big brick on the defensive side with the D.
The Falcons might be for real.
Now, there's another team in the NFC South.
That's right.
That might be for real as well.
Oh, yeah.
Good football.
It's been exciting.
to watch this franchise, this city, come all the way back to life around ball.
And obviously, there's a lot of stories of adversity throughout the NFL
and people that don't have things go exactly their way early.
And what are you going to do?
Are you going to continue to go?
Are you going to back down?
Or are you just going to put your head down and go to work?
The man joining us right now has put his head down and went to work.
And what he has created is a damn good NFL quarterback.
And what we saw the other night was a spectacle of talent.
in a football gumbo, if you will.
Ladies and gentlemen,
the quarterback of the Carolina Panthers,
Bryce Young.
Yay!
What's up, dude?
What's up?
What's up?
Thanks, y'all for having me on.
Okay, so last night,
Trumbone Shorty at Monday Night Football
down in New Orleans,
said he classifies their music
as musical gumbo.
So it's like every different thing.
I think you are football gumbo.
I think you have every trait of a football player,
especially at the quarterback position.
First of all,
Congratulations on the night you guys had the other night and where your team is now,
first maybe a couple years back whenever you get to the Carolina Panthers.
Can you tell me about how you feel another year with Canales, another year with Team Mac here,
obviously you guys go crazy, heading into a buy this year as opposed to maybe years past with Carolina Panthers, Bryce.
Yeah, I feel excited.
Yeah, it's been great being able to be here for us to grow the way that we have.
It's been exciting.
And we know there's a ton more work to do.
I have confidence in everyone in the building.
It's a great group of people.
The people that I get to work with,
it's really a privilege just energy that's around the building.
But again, we know we have a ton more work to do it still early,
so we're excited for that process.
Yeah, early in the season,
but I think we can see some stuff with some teams that say,
hey, they can go.
And then we see some stuff with some other teams.
Hey, that team's ass.
Yeah, they stink.
And I think you've been a couple times, you know,
in the past, there's been some Carolina Panthers teams
where Carolina Panthers fans have,
seeing early in the year where they go, man, our team's ass.
Now, there's a lot of hope down there.
Can you feel it from the city?
We saw the home playoff game last year.
Place was packed out.
It was awesome to see the shot.
It looked like a gladiator-type feeling there behind your back at the open of that home playoff game.
How does the city feel and how have you kind of taken in Charlotte as your home?
Yeah, it's been great.
You know, it's an amazing city in Charlotte, the Carolinas as a whole.
The support, we all feel it.
We rally around that.
Being able to play at the bank has become a special environment.
We've had some special nights.
Other night, just that atmosphere, it's electric.
But yeah, you definitely feel it throughout the city.
And for us, it's our job to continue that to keep building.
And we rally around the city in the same way they rally around us.
Yeah, they showed up for you in a big way.
And from my understanding, that is a good home field advantage.
If the team is worth it, by the way.
How old are you right now, Bryce?
25.
So you.
Dang.
Golly, modern science.
You don't take care of yourself, right?
You eat like shit.
You eat like shit.
Don't want to do much?
No, no, definitely not.
I'm on it.
I try to be as healthy as possible.
15 more years.
At least.
Maybe 20 years with the way science.
Can't wait to watch it all,
especially as it feels like you're just getting comfortable.
Can you tell us a little bit?
Because your size, you're not 6'4.
We're not saying anything anybody doesn't know.
But with your size,
there is some shit that comes to that.
And obviously, pocket maneuvering in such
is a big part of that.
That sense of feel was something that they said you had
coming out of college.
Third and 14, I mean, you just,
you roll to your right, smoothly get out of there.
Off balance, absolute laser to T-MAC,
where only he can catch it.
That sense of feel in the pocket.
In the NFL, everybody faster on the D-line?
Like, have you had to evolve in that aspect?
Do you feel like that is just something
you've always had?
and how does it feel now in this stage of your career in the NFL
versus maybe a couple of years back where maybe things did feel bigger, faster for you?
Yeah, I think really it's just more mastery of our stuff.
You know, we talk about it here, just trying to master our world.
And I think being in the system for as long as I have been, it's nice.
So I think that operationally has made everything easier.
That's really the part that slows things down.
And then, you know, we work on it throughout.
out. But yeah, I try to make sure I do as minimal in the
possible in the pocket as possible when it's that time and then when it's
time to escape or, you know, have a little bit more movement.
Make sure I'm able to do that too. But it's kind of just, I don't know,
it's kind of reaction. You look downfield, obviously you have to process and
try to get the, you know, keep your eyes downfield and make sure that you're
trying to get the ball to your guys and then you kind of feel everything out.
So having reps, having a great O line, obviously is huge. I trust them and then
Having the playmakers we have, they make my job easier.
All right, so if I ever get dropped their NFL game, it'll just come naturally.
I'll have a sense of feeling mastery of what we're doing.
Hopefully I'll be able to figure that out.
Speaking of mastery, a lot of new voices, go ahead, Deb.
Yeah, I mean, mastery, when I'm watching the game,
it looks like you're playing and thinking so fast, so comfortable.
What's it been like working with Brad?
Is it the new play caller?
What's kind of your input been with the play calls?
And like, at what point in the game week,
are you comfortable, completely comfortable with the game playing?
Yeah, being with Brad has been great.
You know, he's been huge this whole time here, all three years.
He's been huge behind the scenes and, you know, drawing up a lot of the plays.
But him now calling it, just his feel.
His collaboration has been great too.
He's someone who wants to have those conversations on the sideline throughout the week.
He wants my input.
He wants all of our input.
We're able to have a ton of conversations.
And it shows up on Sundays.
And just, yeah, his feelings.
feel for everything, his pacing, him in the headset.
It's been great.
And throughout the week, it's a collaborative process.
Try to get as much of that stuff done early, Mondays and Tuesdays, you know, before we're out there practicing.
And then once you get reps, you know, we're having those conversations, all right, this feels good.
Maybe we could add this.
All right, we could take this out.
Stuff like that.
So, you know, really before, probably before, like, Saturday morning, that's when you really, like, put a ball on it.
You know, everything is good.
And yeah, it's been a great process.
I'm excited for us to keep building.
And Bryce, kind of just quick follow.
How are you as a quarterback?
Are you the guy that wants to coach in your ear all the way up into the 15 second mark?
You kind of like, hey, get it in and kind of get out and let me think through this and work through it.
Yeah, I'm more just kind of, yeah, just give me the play.
And really because of that, it's because of the conversations we have throughout the week.
You know, we talk about all the little things whenever we're installing stuff.
He's given me his intent for the play.
There are certain things that I'm telling him,
okay, on this, I think I'm gonna, you know,
whatever it may be, those little details.
So we do all that, enough of that throughout the week
to where on Sundays it's just, you know,
just the play call.
You know, I'll communicate the playing
whatever we need to to the huddle.
And then we go back on the sideline
and Brad and everyone on the team,
they do a great job being able to make adjustments there,
being able to go and tell our receivers,
tell the guys the O line, hey, we're gonna add this,
hey, we're gonna change this,
Even though we talked about this all week, we're going to do something different.
That's not easy to do, and my teammates do a great job with that.
So that's definitely a privilege.
Yeah, have to have smart players to be able to adjust on the fly,
especially whenever 11 people have to operate in the same way for there to be any success.
We talked about Jalen Hertz a couple weeks ago.
He had 10 different play callers and 11 years going back to his college,
and I should have done the math for you in college.
I assume you had a couple, but you've at least had four different play callers
since you've gotten to the Panthers, two in one year,
and then Dave Canales and then now I'd Zick.
What is the difference?
What should we talk about like so I could be a little bit more informed
commentator on this?
Because obviously I was calling my own plays out there, okay?
Yeah.
Okay, that's what I was doing.
You know, that's what we used to do back in the day in the dirt.
You know, we're putting this thing that way.
Okay, but for you and for Jalen and for all quarterbacks,
what is the little things that you either have to pick up with a new person
or kind of figure out with the new person?
What is the difference there?
Yeah, there's a lot of little nuances.
Yeah, play intent, I think, is a big thing.
Being on the same page, you can get a call.
And obviously, you know, if you're passing the ball,
there are going to be multiple people on routes.
Understanding, all right, on this, hey, it's third and one,
but we're gone for it.
So, you know, this is a time to take a risk.
Or this is third and one, but we're just trying to move the sticks.
If not, we're punting.
Stuff like that.
Hey, the goal on this is alive or the goal is a real.
runoff so we can take something underneath. The times you want to go fast, the times you want to,
all right, we're going to take all of our time, make sure we're perfect in this play, we're blocked
up. That stuff that's kind of like, you don't have that much time to communicate all that in a game.
So you have to develop that through the week and it's chemistry, understanding each other.
And then really just that rapport too, like throughout the week, all right, them knowing, you know,
Brad kind of knowing the stuff that I'm going to like me knowing when I talk to him, the stuff
that he's getting out.
Oh!
Gee!
All right.
Brad was like, enough.
Enough.
We don't need them to know all of our shit right now.
Yeah, the stuff that, you know, the stuff that, you know, we both are trying to get at, you know, the little tendencies that we want to, you know, keep people honest on.
Little things like that.
So I think it's probably from the outside looking in how much meeting time and how much stuff outside of being on the field.
There's so much time spent between, you know, all positions, but especially a quarterback and a play caller.
So it's just that relationship, that rapport the amount of time to be on the same page.
It adds that extra layer of confidence and that extra layer of communication and brevity, which is a word that Brad likes to bring up for the room.
That we try to play with.
I like good brevity out there.
Yeah.
Anytime that brings some levity over, you know.
And there's a bevy of things you can say about this particular.
of the relationship, but all of them are upon trust.
It feels like you've got to have a great relationship.
And you're both putting each other in the best position.
And that has to be decided with, I don't know, billions of dollars on the line,
everybody on the line, and a play clock that is not stopping.
It does not care about your relationship at that exact moment.
So we can assume that you and Brad are only going to continue to grow,
which is great news because of how you looked the other night.
Let's talk about how you looked the other night and this season in general.
There is a guy that's on television 24 hours a day talking about ball.
This is not him. This is tone asking a question, though.
Yeah, Bryce, the guy that Pat is talking about is Dan Orlovsky.
He was in the league playing quarterback for a bit.
He said yesterday when watching your...
Do you know who Dan Rolovsky is? Do you know?
Yeah, of course.
Come on.
We don't like to assume.
I don't know.
Fair question.
Fair question.
You guys were asked.
But he said yesterday on the show, it feels like the ball is jumping out of your hand,
maybe a little bit more this season.
Like your arm is actually getting stronger,
which is a rarity for a quarterback once he hits the end.
NFL, is that a thing that maybe is actually true?
And that's something that you worked on in the off season?
Or is that just something that is looking like is happening on tape right now?
Yeah, I mean, I've always felt the same since I've been out here.
You know, you're always trying to fine-toeing some things throughout the off-season.
And, you know, we're always trying to chase our best.
I'm always trying to chase my best.
So I want to be consistent with that.
But, yeah, I always felt the same.
And then I just have so much confidence in the guys around me.
we have a great group of guys
so yeah
yeah I'm always leaning on that
you said Dan's lying
yeah actually that guy doesn't know shit
I heard it he didn't say his
it was in there
you know but he was trying to
so Dan's just maybe watching film
on Bryce for the first time
yeah
that's what it sounds like
is that what we're thinking
Dan coined Steph Curry
yeah he coined that phrase
that turn he's just to watch come on now
You're right. He is a big, Bryce Young fan. He's a big fan of yours. He's going to be bummed out to hear that maybe he had a misread on that. But it does look, I think that third and 14 had us all thinking, holy shit. Holy shit, you can very lose. You can lose this game. Hey, you watch this back, I assume, postgame with the lads, hopefully, and the family. And everybody said, holy shit. That's third and 14 in the fourth quarter up six. You can lose this game. I mean, this could be a miserable night if this play doesn't happen in this exact moment.
And the question is now, the guy that caught that ball seems outrageous. Go ahead, Ty.
Yeah, Bryce. Timak has been. I mean, he was great last year, but Sunday night, you know,
did kind of seem like his, you know, national moment coming into the spotlight.
What has your guys' relationship and kind of rapport development been like?
It was weird when he got drafted. I feel like there were, you know, some people in the media
try to say, like, oh, this guy doesn't really love ball that much. And like, they thought it might be an issue.
And clearly, ever since he's got there, he's been unbelievable.
and it feels like you truly do have a number one guy who you can rely on.
What's you guys' relationship been like?
And did you know, kind of in the offseason going into this season?
Like, oh, man, he's poised to have a massive year.
Yeah, yeah, TMAX special.
So much stuff you can't teach.
The way that he thinks about the game approaches a game, it's special.
Yeah, I think that also really this off-season, I've known him for,
a while. We actually played against each other in high school, so I've always followed him and
know he's been special, but I think his offseason was just another level of respect that I have
for him in his game, for him to go out. Have a great rookie year, obviously, a rookie of the year.
It could have been easy for him to go into the offseason and just like, you know, just sing
his own praises, be like, oh, I'm good. You know, I got this NFL thing figured out and not work hard,
but surround him a lot, and the amount of work he put in, the amount of attention to detail he had,
the strain he had, you know, it was stuff that, and it wasn't him, you know, in front of a bunch
of cameras showing the world, it's just stuff that, you know, I got the privilege to see because
I was around him. You know, he was grinding. And again, it's the mindset. Like he was, you could
ask him about his rookie year and it's like, oh, yeah, and he'd be like, like, this is what I want to
improve on. I want to get better at this. And he takes that approach every single day. You know,
he comes in and works, puts his head down, grinds, practice. He's always trying to,
strive for the best on the side, get extra reps in.
If there's something that doesn't go well, we don't connect on something in practice.
He's not just out, whatever.
It's coming.
All right, what do you think about this?
Let's get it on the side.
Let's work on it.
And again, all that stuff is special.
So, yeah, I mean, I'm just grateful he's with us.
Yeah.
The sounds of a quarterback singing as number one wide receivers praises like that
is a beautiful thing if you're a Panthers fan.
Because obviously since the beginning of time,
a number one QB and a number one wide receiver
have been able to carry teams to the highest of highs
as we think back to the past.
And everything you just said there about T-MAC
is so interesting because coming out of college
he didn't love ball, remember?
That was the thing.
He didn't love ball.
That was the narrative about him.
And I assume he heard that.
And then there was a narrative about you too.
You were a bust.
You weren't going to be able to make it.
Your generation, you're 25.
I mean, you're definitely young.
You're old, though, too, to some.
Yeah, I mean, up there.
All right.
Okay, you need to go watch.
Yeah, dude.
I walked around Disney Road the other day
and my whole body is cramping.
You know, that's what life is.
That's what life is as you get there.
Your generation, though, is kind of grown up
and hearing everything that said about you?
Or how, because we were told,
don't read it.
But that's when there's like three newspapers
in the entire city.
And it's like, hey, don't read the press clip.
And it's like, cool, I would never look at a newspaper.
You got it.
I won't see a damn thing.
Now it's, like, forced upon you.
All these things that kind of got casted at you,
obviously, whenever things happened
at the beginning of this,
and then a team act that's got down on the ball.
You have to hear it.
Do you rally around that your generation?
Do you just understand that's life?
Like, how do you kind of view it as this next generation
of franchise quarterback that has grown up in this entire world
that we currently call home now?
Yeah, I mean, I don't want to speak for everyone generation,
but I think we're speaking for a whole fucking generation right now.
Good luck.
Give them a full screen here.
Put this on his shoulders.
No, I'm joking.
Yeah, I mean, we're definitely, yeah, we're definitely just, you know,
you grow up with it, obviously you're more predisposed to it.
And it's part of life.
Me personally, I'm like, I'm not on social media.
I don't go on there.
So it probably is a little easier for me to avoid stuff than probably most, good or bad.
But, you know, for me, honestly, I'm big in my faith.
That's why I draw my purpose from there, you know, so good or bad.
I try to let that, like, be my guiding light.
I trust a lot of people around me.
I'm definitely not, I'm not too, too big to learn or to, you know, take in criticism, but I'm selective of who that, you know, who I'm going to listen to.
The people in this building, the people that I trust and I have rapport with, those are the people that, you know, if they have a criticism, they, there's something that, you know, feels like I need to get better at, then that's what I, you know, that's what I value. That's what I listen to.
You know, I do everything for this building. If it's someone who has an opinion outside, again, good or bad, you know, I'm grateful.
for the engagement, you know, the sport's so big because people care like that. But me personally,
I'm probably not really going to put anything into it or engaged. But, yeah, that's just my
approach. And then, yeah, I'm sure our entire generation, we all have, yeah, a lot more,
a lot more time with it. I think our generation can learn a lot from your generation if you
are representing the entire generation. Hey, I'm not wasting any energy on you, buddy, okay?
It's hard for me to do that.
I got a lot of people that are much smarter than you
that I trust a lot more
than I take a lot more
ownership of their
That's like a 50-year-old wisdom right there, bro.
You are, hey, what a perfect franchise quarterback
especially with everything that you've gone through
already, the adversity, and then now a team
with Morgan and Teper and Canales
and you all growing in a city that loves ball.
Special stuff feels like it's brewing down there.
cut that check.
Yeah, oh yeah.
Hey, we're about close to that time.
It's time.
Well, we're about close to that time.
In every interview he does, I think going forward, that number's only going up.
Yep.
Yeah, congrats to you on all of that.
You've earned it all.
You talked about people that are in your circle that you obviously have trust for.
Connor has a question for you.
Yeah, Bryce, before Carolina, you're obviously an Alabama legend,
and Nick Saban's got his doc coming out.
I believe you're in it.
What does he mean for you as far as a football player?
How has he helped you kind of progress from, you know,
school to legend at Bama to now. And did you reach out to him and talk to him when you had those
early struggles in Carolina? And what is kind of your relationship today with him?
Yeah. No, he's helped me a ton as a player, as a leader, as a person, being able to go to
Bama and just him set that standard just to be able to learn from him, watch how he operated,
watch how he cultivated just an environment, all the little habits. Being able to study that
for three years, that's invaluable.
And yeah, actually, before I even got to reach out to him, he reached out to me when everything
was going on.
And he was, and, you know, that's the person he is.
He cares about his players.
He was there for support and advice.
I've been able to talk to him, you know, multiple times since.
And he's always there in supporting.
He's always, always watching, always keeping up.
And obviously to have, you know, the best coach to ever do it.
you know, have that support and have that advice and just have that as a resource.
Yeah, I mean, I'm super grateful.
You're going to watch the doc?
Yeah, yeah, of course, of course.
Yeah, I'm super grateful that I got to be a part of it.
How was it?
How was it?
Did you feel like they were setting you up for gotcha questions?
No, it wasn't bad.
It was actually a while ago.
I want to say they asked me like before last season, which like just shows how much work has been going into it.
Like, they've been working on it for a while.
So, yeah, no, I'm excited for the world to see.
That's Thursday, I believe.
Six or seven part series, Sabin's last dance, if you will,
as they celebrate the greatest college football coach of all.
Oh, there you were.
I just saw you ball in.
He saw him.
Yeah, he looked a little younger, too.
Yeah, he looked a little younger then.
Oh, no, NFL years passing up.
Oh, no age meet.
Yeah.
I was going to old.
I did that a couple of times in this convo.
All right, enjoy your bye week.
Thank you for joining us. Good luck the rest of the way.
Tell everybody we said hello.
For sure.
No, thanks for having me.
I really appreciate it.
All right, man.
We'll tweet you.
You won't see it.
Yeah.
Whatever.
Can you do.
You're the man.
Ladies and gentlemen, Bryce Young.
Yeah, Bryce.
Is he a 60-year-old?
What was that?
Awesome.
Very mature.
Unbelievable.
Yeah, like, I'm sure you have good thoughts and opinions.
I like the engagement.
That's why the league.
Yeah.
Like, all the right answers.
All right.
thinking about the promotion of the league.
It's good that you have those thoughts.
I'm happy or emotional.
We like those types of emotions.
Now, I'm just going to go ahead and keep it moving this way
because the building, how many times he talked about the building?
Yeah.
Think about Panthers fans hearing that.
He got benched there.
You could see how a modern athlete could get incredibly jaded and upset.
Get me out of here.
Number one overall pick.
Yeah, right.
You're going to bench me?
I don't think so.
I want to go somewhere else.
It could have caused a lot of shit.
Could have caused a lot of drama.
Could have forced his way out to another team
that would have been certainly open to having them for what?
Third round, second round.
He could get a good deal on him.
He could have done all those things.
Instead, sat there, watched Andy Dalton, the Red Rocket Play quarterback.
Kind of learned and for the first time didn't have the pressure of being the guy,
maybe in his entire life.
I was just reminded that he was on TV in high school,
covering him as a high school quarterback.
It's like he has been the guy on top of the world with the pressure of the world on him.
since he's 17 years old.
So for a time to just kind of reset,
take a step back,
kind of reevaluate who he is, what he is,
and then to come back on the other side
and play the way he's playing,
that's a beautiful American dream story,
especially in our sport.
Oh, yeah, and you talk about, obviously,
from a global standpoint,
or obviously number one sport in the country,
but even for his team, for his organization,
like he's, in some ways following Cam Newton,
who was the biggest kind of star,
you know, one of the biggest stars in the league,
but definitely for the Panthers,
been an MVP's,
taking that team to a Super Bowl and just I was there for a year for Cam's
rookie year actually and just the whole vibe he had around that stadium and that
city so now Bryce kind of bringing that energy back being a part of a big part of
that been a starting quarterback being a franchise quarterback so pressure within
that building to get back because the Panthers are you know relatively young
organization but they've been to a Super Bowl now twice already you know had great ones with
smitty the early runs then the Cam era and now you kind of in that Bryce Young era
And we talked about Pennix before coming on.
Obviously, Shuck looked like he's going to be around as well.
So it's kind of like a young little nucleus of quarterbacks and teams in that NFC South right now.
It should be exciting.
What do they do?
Uptown, not downtown.
Uptown.
And what do they call it, the Queens?
Queen City.
Queen City.
That's a good town.
It's a great time.
Happy Hour Town.
Because they got a lot of banking and shit.
So a lot of rooftop happy hour things.
Yeah.
The dream.
Yeah, but then everything's empty about 830.
8.30.
8.30.
That city is basically.
emptied out. And then we're back tomorrow at
Happy Hour. Everybody's excited to be out of our
out of our, it's a good city. I've been
down there a lot. Great how at the mood down there.
Great how at the moon. Big time hub
for American Airlines as well.
So easy to get in and out of it. And then
also, yep, bingo. You want to go see
some cars burning some rubber down there.
Hell yeah. Around.
Joining us now, former quarterback in the NFL.
We've seen the tape of him getting cut.
Yeah. Yeah.
We all have. Hate seeing it. It was unfortunate.
Former teammate. But it kind of led him.
to where he is today.
That's right.
A super genius, man is the head coach
of the undefeated Minnesota Vikings.
Ladies and gentlemen, Kevin O'Connell.
Yay!
How we doing, man?
How many times are we gonna talk about me getting tough, man?
Well, it's just a nice reminder
that everybody goes through something.
We're all from somewhere.
We just wanna tell people that you've been in that seat before
when you were told you weren't good enough
after getting to the highest level.
So we just wanna, you know, let people know,
who we're talking to here.
It's not just a great jaw line.
You know, it's not just a phenomenal jaw line.
It's not just a great, you know, offensive strategy, which we got to get into, okay,
which we definitely got to get into.
This is former player who's done great.
So we're incredibly proud of the fact that you are a former player that's now a head coach.
Let's talk about it.
Your team's undefeated, and I assume the way you look at it is we can only get better.
That has to be a great place to be.
How do you view your spot right now is one of the only undefeated teams left in the NFL?
Yeah, Pat, coming into this year, you know, really kind of viewed the early part of this season as we were going to be learning about what kind of football team we had.
But at the same time, we kind of learned towards the tail end of last year, you know, some concrete principles that would matter for our team.
And we needed to do those to start the season to give ourselves a chance to get off to a good start in the win column, which was protect the football, forced turnovers, possesses.
the ball and allow our defense, which is coming in the year, what I felt would be the strength
of our team. We've gotten great kicking game performances as well, not only from Will
Reikert, but our return game and our coverage units. We're just playing good smart football right
now. Now the next phase is, as you mentioned it, or alluded to, I do think we've continued
evolution and growth of the 2026 version of our offense. We want to continue to be more consistent
get Kyler as comfortable as possible and build on some things from the other day that I thought were some real positives for him and our offense, specifically in the second half.
And now we, you know, have to go try to do those things on the road at a really hard place to go play that you know well from last night at the Superdome.
But I'm happy with where our team's at.
But we've gotten off to good starts before in other seasons that I've been here as the head coach.
and the mindset is a continual growth,
continuing to try to become the best version of this team
as we press onward, you know,
versus a challenging schedule that's out in front of us
starting this week against New Orleans.
I love the transparency of what I was alluding to.
I think you got a pretty good read on what I was alluding to about the offense.
There's a lot of stats talking about that.
But I think the way we view you is you can put Boston Connor a quarterback.
Sure.
and Kevin O'Connell will be able to figure out a way to get a win
because that is what you had done in the past.
And then obviously Sam Donald Run goes crazy.
Last year is what it is.
You make the decision go with Kyler early in training camp.
It felt like there was a competition that we were learning about.
What is it about Kyla that you love to see in your offense?
And what do you envision for Kyler in your offense,
both now and when you signed him to the Minnesota Vikings?
Yeah, I think Kyler's talent, you know, both as a passer.
obviously his athletic ability to play within and out of the pocket.
It's something that we saw early on from the first few days when he got here in the spring
to what progressed throughout training camp.
I think as we've gotten into the season, knowing that he's really in a position where I think
he's played 150 snaps, missing a little time after only getting 11 snaps in the opener.
You hope you just get a smooth transition in that build each and every drive
from the time the season starts up until, you know, week five as we're in.
But he played a second complete game of the season at home the other day.
And I thought really started to come to life, anticipating, you know, activating, you know,
activating some throws to, you know, T.J. Hawkinson, all 13 of the targets to T.J.
were completions and impactful plays.
Got Addison going in the middle of the field as well.
So I think we've seen bits and pieces of what we want our offense to look like.
I've got to do a better job, you know, correcting some of these, you know, pre-snap early down penalties and negative plays that are forcing us into some third and longs early on in games, which is limiting our ability to find a rhythm, which we were able to do as the game went on the other day.
But the only other thing I would just say is, you know, I think there was a time and a place where statistically, you know, you're trying to hunt those big plays and they help you win and they do.
explosives are a huge factor for winning games.
But I think, you know, staying committed to running the football,
staying committed to, you know, playing a type of offensive football where we do protect it.
I think we're third or fourth in the league and the fewest amount of turnovers.
We're trying to make sure, no matter what, we are setting the stage and the table for our
team to play four quarters and find a way to win without doing some things that,
quite frankly, you know, hurt NFL team's chances to win because you do those.
things before you ever give yourself a chance to win. And our teams learn that. I think there's a
maturity that comes with that, that you can only gain by experience. And I'm talking about myself
as much as anybody. But at the same time, to get to where we want to go and to truly compete
with the elite teams in this league, we're going to need to play better on offense. And we know that.
Our players know that they can watch the tape and see, hey, we're really not that far off,
but the detail, the urgency, the understanding that we are in it.
And when you're in the season and looking to find that consistency,
every minute matters, every practice day matters, every walkthrough matters.
And then let's take it to the game and start to see it come to fruition
a little bit more consistently for the greater good of where I think this team's going.
Sounds like the way you want your offense to be right now
is let's not mess this up for the defense that we have.
Our defense is going to keep us in every single game.
our defense is going to beat everybody.
We need to not turn the ball over.
We need to not put them into bad positions.
And in the fourth quarter, we need to go win these games.
Patrick Mahomes talked about this, the last Super Bowl that they won,
because Spagnola's defense, he said he had 11 quarterbacks,
11 green dots on the field.
Patrick Mahomes came out and said, I actually had to learn how to be like,
yeah, we can punt here.
Yeah, we can run the ball more.
He was doing that during the season because they could rely on the defense.
You said coming into this season,
you knew the defense was going to be the strong point of your team.
And it sounds like you've had to evolve a bit as the way you view it,
not just everybody else on the field because you admitted that yourself there.
Is that real?
Is that a real thought coming up to the year?
It's like, hey, our defense is going to be unbelievable with B-flow.
We need to change the style or change the way we think about what an offensive possession
should look like or how it should end?
Yeah, I think there's a couple things with that.
First of all, you get to a point, you know, as a head coach where you know the only thing,
you know, Bud Grant, you know, God rest his soul.
He taught me the first year that I was the head coach of the volleyball.
Vikings. I'd meet with them every week and early, early on, you know, coming off of a Super Bowl in
LA and having all kinds of ideas for an offense and how we were going to play. He very simply
just said the goal is to have more points than your opponent on a Sunday and then you worry about
the next one next. And I kind of laughed it off, but you do this job long enough and you know
there's certain decisions you make throughout the game, certain, you know, decisions you make
throughout the week, putting together a game plan. What's it going to take to win the game? What's it going to
take to win the game, what's the best avenue to, you know, take to go do that. And for us,
our defense, our defense playing in close football games with the type of scheme and the type of
adjustments and the type of attack mode that they can be, and that wears on opponents. And, you know,
especially learning the way that in a given moment, like we saw in the opener, you know, there can be
an absolute avalanche for an opponent of negative football with the way we play defensively. You
stack that with what we've done in the kicking game and knowing that Will Riker can ring the
bell and get you three points from anywhere in the gym. You just have to evaluate how to coach those
games, all while knowing that what you are today, you know, I've learned this in a couple seasons
where we've specifically had a ton of success, but what were we really when it mattered the most?
We want to progressively build to that. And if we can win every game along the way, sure,
let's do it. That's the goal to win a game every week that you get a four.
an opportunity to play in this league.
But we have a lot of confidence within this building of where we can get to.
Now that's all just words and coach speak until it actually comes to life.
And I'm excited about the challenge of chasing it, you know,
specifically with our offensive group every week.
All well-known that locker room, everybody is forged together in a way where they know the goal.
They know whatever it's going to take to win a game is going to be what we do.
And that can look a lot different each and every Sunday.
and I think we're prepared for that.
And I'm excited to keep chasing these wins.
One point more than the opponent,
and then we'll worry about the next one.
What a piece of advice for a sport that involves.
It was good.
Yeah.
It's really good.
It is pretty good.
So simple.
Yeah, you're right.
I guess we all keep our jobs.
Everybody's happy.
Yeah.
We just win the game.
All right, let's try to do that.
Now, winning the game can come in different ways,
especially in modern world.
You know, you don't score a touchdown.
Things don't happen.
People start wondering, but it sounds like the culture is one of just getting a dub.
D. Butt has a question for you, coach.
Yeah, great, great seeing you, coach, especially here undefeated.
I got all the confidence in the world that you guys will figure it out on offense, start putting those points up.
You talked about penalties, time management, all these different things about winning games.
T.J. Hawkinson, he went down without scoring a touchdown.
He drew up a beautiful play.
Is this a conversation you had with him before him?
Because a lot of fantasy managers, a lot of same game.
parley better.
I pissed off right now.
What's a conversation with
TJ? Obviously smart football right, play
win the ball game. But was there a conversation between
you and TJ?
That was the butt.
You know, you're familiar. You get into that point in the
game and you know a first down ends it
and you can kneel it out from there.
That was by far the hardest.
You know, we call that Rolex.
That was the hardest Rolex decision to make
since I've been a head coach. Just knowing
that really, really smart people like Pat are going to talk about how we didn't score a touchdown in the game.
No, first down in two minutes, no timeouts. We win the game. I know the number.
But let's just put it this way. Our defense have played a lot of snaps. We've seen that. They played 41 on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
We go in the end zone right there. You're probably looking at at least, you know, another, you know, potential two-minute drive where some really important players that have played a lot of football, you know, go back.
back on the field for defense.
We've been hit with the injury bug on offense,
which is never excuse,
but to get those guys 41 snaps
and some real good football
on the defensive side like they've done all year,
if it means, you know,
having to, you know,
we know exactly what that play was designed to do.
We know, I told our offense,
if you want to score, do it earlier.
And don't put yourself in that situation
where we got to, you know, go down.
But how about T.J., man, at the end of that day,
to go down like that and do what's best
for the football team?
I felt it in the stadium.
I'm sure I would have felt it, you know, far and wide with some of the implications that you mentioned,
but, you know, but that's part of our game.
And not exactly hanging the 1510 score on the mantle at home, but I will take a four and no season to start.
Definitely take a four and no season to start.
And for people that don't know, I think it's a good time to tell them, two minutes left.
If the other team has no timeouts, you have a first down, game over.
That is, that since beginning of the new modern timeout rules, that is the goal for everybody to get to.
Keep Van Nuys, old ass on the sideline.
He's got ice on both those knees.
Both those knees got ice.
Hanky, too.
I don't know how this guy's still doing what he's doing.
They got something going over there.
Because they're blitzing more than anybody.
Oh, yeah, they're playing.
They're playing.
How does that?
They beat your ass in practice?
How's that go?
You got to call them off?
How does that go in practice with B-flow in the way he operates?
The fun part about it is like every single week I wait to see, you know, what people's plan against it is going to be because we've tried just about everything.
You know, we've had every, you know, every person besides the quarterback, I think, throw a block to try to try to protect from some of those blitzes or try to get some runs off.
It's a really, really dynamic scheme that, you know, just does, you know, does a world of hurt from a standpoint of just the mental warfare of every snap.
one snap for granted playing against those guys and you know in year in year four you know of the
evolution of it the type of adjustments and the quick fixes they can make based upon how you try to
you know go about attacking them it's it's so impressive what those guys are able to do and it's
it's become a real weapon for us to go win and some yeah some of those old-ass guys that we
mentioned it helps because you watch the tape and it's like they're the the pattern matches the
reads, they're obviously prepared for what teams
are running. So not only are running blitzes,
maybe they'll only send five or maybe just send four,
but the guys are dropping out and looking
up like every route. So you stop the route,
you stop the tape when the quarterback's at the top of the drop.
Even if they're protecting, nobody's
open. So then you just start to go, like
KOC said, that mental warfare.
So yeah, blitzing is one thing, but when you have
the blitz and then on the back end, especially
as a DB, when I'm not asked out in zero
coverage for 60 snaps, that makes
it a lot better, but it's ugly right.
It's tough to figure out. The highest blitz rate,
there's a HEMBO stat.
The highest blitz rate for any defense in a season since ESPN began tracking at 2006 is 52.4%
by the 2009 Jets, Rex Ryan, and the boys.
The Vikings are blitzing their opponents, 68% of the dropbacks.
Mental warfare is what the head coach.
That team says.
This is every single snap that quarterback's.
Go ahead.
Maybe the reason for that is that the famous clip that you talk about of me being released
took place at the end of that training camp.
I eventually went back there,
but yeah, that is an interesting stat to see.
Maybe that's why we've become what we've become here
to spite the 2009 jets.
How about you?
I couldn't figure it out.
They made it to the AFC championship that 2009 jets.
I'm saying, Josh?
Yeah.
I can't remember who they lost to.
Who did they lose to?
Steelers.
Oh, it was the Steelers.
Was it?
Yep.
Unbelievable.
No, no, it was not.
It was the Indianapolis Colts.
Oh.
What hell are you talking about, Tom?
Oh, that must have been 08.
Oh, was that the team that we let you guys in, if you do recall, the end of that season?
The Indianapolis Colts, I was a rookie punter who didn't know how to punt.
I could not believe I was there.
I was enjoying every moment.
Just know that.
But they chose to lose the last two games.
We benched everybody.
That was a Bill Pollian decision.
We're 14-0 going into the last two games.
and they benched everybody
and we let the Jets in.
The Jets beat us one of those games.
Let the Jets in.
Then the Jets get hot.
Yeah, beat the path.
And then all of a sudden it's like,
you let these fucking guys in.
Now you've got to run into them
and we win, thank God.
And then we lose to Drew Brees,
which full circle moment last night,
20 year and a minute.
It was,
there's a lot of that happening in ball.
I like that you have decided
if you can't beat him,
join them.
Listen, I can't figure out
this blitz of practice.
So I'll be excited to see
if anybody else can figure this out.
And I'm pumped to hear that you are trying to see
just one offensive coordinator figure out B-flow
so you could drop that shit on a Wednesday against
or on a Thursday against B-flow.
The battles between you two all training camp.
We should put that on TV.
Hey, okay.
No, you're in the middle of the season.
I can't ask about that.
Joint practices, I think, are going to become the new
preseason games.
Is that what it feels like?
I don't want to take you too far out of back in time,
but it does feel like that's probably what's coming, right?
They're super important, and especially we don't play the Minnesota Vikings defense all season long.
So for us to do nothing but play against them for a month, those joint practices have become very, very important for both sides.
You know, not to get too mired going against the same guys every single day and to also not expose a lot of important players on your roster to those preseason games to get them ready.
They're really important when handled the right way.
We've done a ton of them.
I love them.
And always really enjoy getting a chance to welcome people here,
especially we've got a great place to host joint practices here in Minnesota.
That's going to become March Madness, I think.
I think we're going to do away with some of the preseason games.
There probably be one, like, bubble preseason game at the end.
And this is not the right time to be doing this.
It's just worried a bit of all of it, and you're a good brain for the future of the NFL.
Those joint practices are going to get televised, though.
That's going to become what it's going to become, like a red zone of joint practices,
get rid of the preseason games.
Have a bubble one at the end.
I don't know.
We'll see.
Too many plays.
I don't know if the players are going to like those joint practices.
You're going to have to negotiate that, Kevin.
You're going to have to get in there and negotiate that.
You know the players are going to have their say, as you were a player.
And we did see that heartbreaking day whenever you got released.
Let's talk about the NFC North a little bit.
Ty has a question for you.
Yeah, coach, I'll just tell you, as a fan of a team that you play in as in your division, boy, does it fucking suck?
Watching those games, when you just, you know, your quarterback's just getting blitzed, left and right, no answers.
so you got that going for you for sure.
Obviously, you're not going to put too much stock into early season wins like this.
But when you are already 2 and O in the division,
how much confidence does that give you guys and almost leeway with,
hey, we're still figuring out who we're going to be offensively.
We have a pretty good idea defensively.
But now we do have two games in hand in the division for down the road
when we feel a lot more comfortable with what we're doing offensively.
Yeah, I think it goes into kind of the method of how we are going about things early on in the season.
We want to be a better version of this team as we progress along.
But I will say getting two hard-fought wins against teams in the NFC North.
It's critical.
We know our division's so good.
The coaching is so good.
You know, Chicago, Green Bay, Detroit, all those teams are going to be, whether you're playing them at home or you're playing them on the road,
these these these these games determined so much in the nfc uh it it seems like every single year and
um you know whether it's the green bay packers getting uh healthy and getting mica back it's
chicago and what ben's doing eventually getting cala back but they're playing great football they
we know that that's that's their standard of of how they do things i got all the respect to the world for
ben and and then you know in detroit you know there's there's no tougher team out there
mentally physically tough group that you know it all comes from their head coach and
what Dan preaches and how they build the organization so that's what our that's what our division
is we know that we know what it's all about we know it's going to you know as you start getting
into October and then on into November December the NFC North is always going to have a massive
say and kind of how that NFC playoff picture looks your team and the Lions playing for the
NFC's number one seed two years ago is that
Two years ago?
Three years ago.
Two years ago.
Two years ago.
It was darned won a Super Bowl last year.
Oh, yeah.
Football Justice.
You don't have to talk about it.
Packers fan.
Make sure you're much.
Yeah, that's Green Bay Packish.
I don't like that at all.
I don't like that KOC at all.
There is a wide receiver you have that seemingly is not from our planet.
Go ahead, Connor.
Last question, KOC.
Thank you, man.
Yeah, KOS.
You mentioned it kind of banged up a little bit on offense.
That's with Justin Jefferson.
How is he doing?
What are the vibes around him?
And how many more plays?
Do you just have sitting there where you know like, oh, shit,
I wish Justin was out here so I could call this today?
Yeah, there's a few for sure.
And, you know, he's spent some time with Randy Moss.
Randy Moss has been spending some time back around our facility.
It's been awesome.
But when Randy and Justin are watching tape together,
they come up with some pretty damn good ideas, I got to say.
But he's doing great.
You know, he kind of got a lot of the initial soreness and things out last week.
see what he's able to kind of handle from a practice standpoint leading into Sunday,
but don't know exactly where he's going to be at.
We have the buy next week.
So obviously, as a whole, offensively, we need to get healthy.
We should be getting Jordan Mason back after the buy.
You know, Christian Dair saw some other players,
even though we lost Donovan Jackson at left guard,
which is a killer because he's having a great season.
We feel like we're going to be getting stronger,
getting more healthy as we move forward,
and getting Justin back this week,
would be massive, especially going back to his hometown in New Orleans.
Rainy Moss just hanging around Justice Jefferson.
I don't think that's fair.
It might help.
That doesn't sound, yeah.
Look at him.
Yeah, it's not fair, and we love it.
Yeah, Randy.
We actually got Randy a house here if he needs to hang out.
He'd come hang out anytime he wants.
We appreciate you for stopping by, brother.
Good luck the rest of the way.
Yeah, thank you guys.
Always appreciate the time.
That's the undefeated Minnesota Vikings head coach.
Kevin O'Connell.
Yay, coach.
The NFC North looks like this.
Minnesota Vikings, four, no, Chicago Bears,
3-1, Detroit Lions 2-2,
Packers 2-2-2-2-2-2-and-2.
Not a bad division there.
Strong.
Not a bad division there.
The AFC North, 3-1, 3-1, 2-2, 2-2-2-2-2-good division.
Everybody in the AFC East seemingly has the opportunity to turn it around.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Don't need an opportunity.
Some teams have already turned it around.
Slow down.
Quickly.
Getting a little chirpy up there.
That's opening the door.
Yeah, it is.
We'll see who walks through it.
But for now, I'll just enjoy my view.
I love that you guys are all the way back.
Yeah, me too.
That's the way that is.
AFC West, Can't see cheese, four and no.
It's hard to put any team above them.
It is really hard.
But with what that Falcons team was showing last night,
it's hard not to take them incredibly serious right now.
We just saw Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers also a very good football team.
I mean, Raiders.
Raiders, good football team.
There's a lot of good football teams right now.
now. And that Falcons team last night, just getting a chance to watch it the way Bijon runs.
I don't think I've ever seen it. It's like a gazelle. I don't know. What's that a safari animal?
And people compare the only name it comes up is Barry. And like, and that's that's like a, it's almost sacrilegious comparing anybody to Barry Sanders.
But that's the only person you can compare them to. We had Shady during my area, which, with, during my era.
which wasn't, he wasn't as fast as Bejan,
but like everybody had to be at the point of attack
he can cut back and make these different plays,
but he is unbelievable.
It doesn't look like he's running.
That's what is so shocking about.
Like, even with, you know, the comparison right now
is Gibbs and Bejohn.
Like, those are kind of the two at the top of the class.
But like, when Gibbs is running hard,
it looks like it.
Like, when he is running at top speed,
it's just, he's floating the entire time.
It's insane.
In Penix.
Do you see him walking in that building like that?
Oh, yeah.
He looked cool.
shit. He looked like he knew
what was about to happen in there. It felt like they all... How about all the other shit that
we don't see on TV, like the in between and stuff we usually have eyes on with boots
on the ground like with pinnics, I guess. Like we saw Lamar. Like just
so comfortable. Okay. Just so comfortable.
Stavansky, is he stalking the sideline? Like how he looks so comfortable. Like
he looks so just kind of just at ease. You know, walk, even the warm looks whenever I told him like,
hey, we're live, we're live. All right, just kind of turns around the other way. Walking out of
the tunnel before the team comes out.
You know, I quit give him like a, how's it feel
to have like a quarterback and just like,
and then just like kind of walks away.
It's like so confident.
Just, and then Bejohn,
Bajon has a smile on his face at all times
while he's jogging around and then their offensive line.
I mean, everybody's a monster on the NFL football field.
Their offensive lines, unbelievable.
Top five football team in the NFL.
It's good football team.
That's a great football team.
It started with Carolina Panthers and Packers last year.
I know.
We had never the Panthers just beat the hell out of the Packers.
He goes, hey, Panthers, that's good.
Everybody needs to relax about us losing to them.
It's good.
Falcon is the same thing. I don't think a lot of people are expecting
them to be good. Their fan bases might get mad.
They might be great. We'll see on the other side.

It's the greatest week four of the NFL season wrapped up last night in New Orleans as the Saints hosted the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Falcons get to win 45.
Jeez!
24 with five touchdowns coming from the Atlanta Falcons running back room and then also Michael Penix in his second start back after recovery has looked absolutely cerebral.
The Atlanta Falcons just might be one of the top teams in the entire NFL.
And you would have never said that at the first couple weeks whenever there was a different quarterback in.
Then a guy who was selected top 10 out of Washington comes in with Kevin Stefansky,
who's known as an offensive genius, and they start slicing and dicing and cooking on the road.
You went in Lambo in primetime on Thursday night, and then you stacked it on top of a with a Monday night in the Superdome win,
back-to-back weeks on the road, maybe some road warriors as well.
heading back to Atlanta with a very different story and internet action.
Mm-hmm.
Now, that just a few weeks ago.
Congrats, Atlanta Falcons getting another big-time win.
Congrats to New Orleans Saints and the New Orleans community
on a celebration that was the 20-year anniversary of the Superdome opening back up
after 13 months down from Katrina.
There was 1,392 deaths caused by Katrina.
There was 30,000 people that called the Superdome home for 12 days.
There was an entire region that was obviously devastating.
And then there was a Superdome that was reopened and a celebration was had about, you know, adversity and perseverance and grit and staying together and community in what sports does.
And Steve Gleeson's block punt is still referred to, not only with the statue, but as a moment where the entire city felt like they were completely back after devastation.
So it was a magical night down there and the Saints team just, you know.
It's sweet.
I think they were caught up in their celebration as well.
And they couldn't stop the Atlanta Falcons for the life of them.
No.
No. And the Falcons might do that to a lot of teams.
The talks to tables here at Boss Conner and at Ty Schmidt.
Lana Falcons, that's a really good football team.
Yeah, unfortunately, it seems like, you know, whenever we kind of do this,
I get the taste a couple weeks in advance, you know,
at the hands of just an absolute piss pounding against the Packers.
But, hey, sometimes that happens.
You know, you find out a couple weeks before they really hit their Zenith.
Hey, this is the potential to be a great football.
They're good football team right now.
They might become a great football team in a couple weeks.
And I think we saw that with the Falcons.
And that's kind of always been the case with.
penics. It's like when this guy's healthy, he's unbelievable.
He just can't stay healthy. But you can tell, boy, I'll tell you what, when you
got a quarterback, that makes a hell of a difference.
When you're not, you know, trot and poop a rush out there, all due respect, that's not
me. A lot of people are saying they were really good with him, though, too.
I don't know if anyone was.
No. No, like if you were a football team and you got a win against Falcons, even with
Cooper Rush, that's a good way. Don't even count it.
Oh, you're talking about Pittsburgh Steelers.
There was two weeks before the Panthers, and Steelers, you're right, Steelers did play them.
What team are you a fan of?
Duques, baby.
And?
Pittsburgh Steelers.
So you're saying the Falcons of Pooper Rush, which were one of the worst teams in the league.
Possibly ever.
They actually had stats that said worst in the league points.
They were in the side division, yeah.
And then they were best in league in points whenever Pennix gets back.
How do you kind of account for that dub early?
Because they're two very different teams already in this very short season of the 22.
26 year of the NFL. Now a nine-year NFL
vet, Darius J. Butler is here.
Cooper Rush getting a lot of slander
right now. Cooper Rush had a hell of an NFL
career, okay? Hell of an
still going, by the way. Yeah, I saw him
last night. He was in full uniforms last night. I didn't
know coaches do that. He was in
full uniform. Is he two-looked
dressed? Two, a full uniform ampad.
Full uniform end pads.
What about that other guy? Two, it looked very good.
Jack Strand. I didn't see Jack Strand. I did
see Zach Wilson, Spencer
Rattler. Yeah. That's the other
side. I mean, when you talk about quarterback rooms last night, it was a who's who of, oh,
I know, I know, I know, I know. But Cooper Rush had a hell of a run. But I think everybody in Atlanta's
very excited that Pennix is the quarterback. Oh, yeah. Brick on the defensive side, he had the
boys humming as well over there. Flying around. Tyler Shuck had a couple moments where he could
have went, but instead the Falcons put him to sleep. I mean, Tyler Shuck, he, I think he's shown,
he's everything you want in a quarterback. And, you know, you want to say young quarterback because
of his NFL experience, but his age, you know, he's in his prime. But he has, you
everything, but they just, they don't have a run game.
When you don't have a run game, it's tough when you know the guys, you just pin their
ears back and get after you.
So it's going to be difficult for them going down the line.
They got Minnesota next with B-flow.
So we'll see how they handle that.
But Atlanta, yeah, that defense flies around.
And you just mention, you just mentioned those quarterbacks, like all of those different
quarterbacks, just a reminder every time, like just how tough it is to play in this
hard-ass tough-ass league.
Yeah, yeah.
You're talking about Spencer Routly.
You're talking about Zach Wilson.
You're talking about all these guys, different starts.
some top five picks, some late round picks.
It's just unbelievable anytime one of these guys kind of hit their stride,
especially they face some adversity early and then start having success in the league.
But yeah, man.
And look, Atlanta Falcons, obviously a quarterback makes a difference.
I was one of the people bitching the morning about them been on prime time for the next three weeks.
Oh, yeah.
And they have showed out.
And look, guys, you know, I get it.
It's a sign of intelligence.
We just change your mind because new information is available.
So the new information is the Falcons got a damn quarterback.
quarterback and their damn good football team.
Yeah, I don't like whenever, you know, we're in daily
sports. We can only operate
off of the current situation.
Yeah. We don't know tomorrow's news.
No, no. We don't know tomorrow's
We wish. Yeah. Yeah. Tell me.
My God. Draft Kings
is happy. We don't have that.
That'd be awesome.
Just close your eyes and think in that world.
Could you imagine? We already know the outcome of
tonight's MLB playoff games.
Well, are the Yankees playing?
No, they put the camera, but I agree.
Oh, they don't play tonight?
No, they don't.
Okay, well, tonight we have Dodgers, Braves, Brewers, Padres.
It'd be so cool to be able to know tomorrow and know who wins this one and how they win.
You know who I like tonight?
Braves, sales on the mind.
Who's he pitching against?
Yamamoto.
Oh, ho, ho.
Pitcher showcase tonight, I think, is what.
How would you describe this time?
Yeah, certainly.
certainly you would. Yamamoto during the World Series last year was lights out unbelievable,
but Sale kind of, you know, he's been doing it, you know, pitching out of the bullpen
the other night to seal that series. And then he's a gamer. And again, with him, you know,
he kind of told us when we talked to him a couple weeks ago, like, you know, I would assume
he is going to play another season because he's still throwing hard as shit and he's still very good.
But like when you get up up in age like that, like you never know how many more moments like
this he's going to have.
And, you know, so that should be, I mean, this is, when you think playoff baseball, like,
this is the matchup we want, the Dodgers-Bray's one.
And Brewers-Padres, that series has been absolutely unbelievable.
Both games coming down to the bottom half of the last inning.
But, yeah, I mean, we got no football on tonight.
These are two great examples of good playoff baseball.
And if we knew tomorrow, we'd be hammering irresponsibly on these games.
It would be responsible, though, because we would know.
Because we know. It would be a...
But we don't know tomorrow's information.
We only know what we have right now.
So if a team looks like absolute shite,
we have to say his team looks like absolute shite.
There has been a growing number of people.
Don't say nice stuff about us now.
Stay on that side.
Say, hey, that's not how this works?
How about you don't get to decide what we say?
Boom.
Okay, how about it?
How about we just get a chance to talk about what we see
and how happy we are that the Atlanta Falcons are,
Very real.
And I'm not saying it's just Atlanta people telling us.
That's across the board and all this point.
Like game day, I got to pick games.
So I'll pick against a team because I have to pick a game.
And all of a sudden, I don't want to hear you.
It's like, whoa, whoa.
I might have to pick them next week.
I think I got a bad, I got a bad news for you.
I think I'm going to have to, I think I'm going to have to pick them at some point.
I will.
Now, there has been teams in the past where I have picked against them
every single time for an entire year.
And it worked out.
It worked out for them.
They won a national championship.
So I mean, have a Rutgers look good week three.
Oh, Rutgers is a good team.
They look good.
Joining us now from an attic in Ohio is a man who's probably very excited about how the Atlanta Falcons are playing football right now.
He's college football national champion, Super Bowl champion, Ryder Cup winner, the all-time leading tackler for the Green Bay Packers.
Ladies and gentlemen, father of 10, AJ, good haircut today.
Oh, good haircut, AJ, good haircut today.
Oh, yeah.
You want to find the future when you talk to O's or Chris Angel, one of those guys, I'm sure they can tell you.
Yeah.
I think O's.
O's is out there still doing it, right?
O's would be the one, I guess, right?
Jiu-Jitsu and future predictions, that would be Chris Angel.
Yes.
Self-defense.
And as we're talking about Chris Angel in Las Vegas here real quick, pivot.
Carrot.
Happy to hear, brother.
Yep.
For real.
Happy to hear, Karatop.
Love you, buddy.
He's been good to us.
Yeah.
In front of the show.
He stopped by the show, brought a thousand props.
I don't even know where he's pulling him out.
He had different pockets was doing his shit.
He knew ball, too.
Loved ball, love sports, super great energy.
Happy to hear where he is right now, as opposed to where he was a couple weeks ago.
We love you, Karatop.
Did you love what you saw last night from this Atlanta Falcons team?
Two-headed monster in the back, with one of them being maybe the best back and maybe the best football player in the entire league.
And then a defense that every time Shuck and the boys are starting to answer and rally around the emotion and the momentum of the evening down there, continue to put the fire out.
Your thoughts on the Atlanta Falcons right now versus maybe a couple weeks ago?
I mean, I feel like from start to finish, the Atlanta Falcons just kind of outclassed the Saints.
And I saw a headline and said, Atlanta clobbers New Orleans on the road.
And that's what they, like, I don't ever really use the word clobber, but I feel like it is very, it works when you talk about this game.
But like you said, the two-headed monster in the back to it, I mean, Bejohn, Bejohn, however he wants to be, you know, whatever he wants us to call him.
I just don't know, like, I know you mentioned Barry Sanders and all that.
Like Bejohn's vision and his patience is just crazy to me.
I don't know. Like you said, it looks like he's not going full speed, but the dude is so in control.
It feels like the game has slowed down in his brain and his just instincts and how he's able to move is just, it's next level.
It's a little bit of sonar too.
He knows where he's more without being able to see him and always has like big smile on his face.
It feels like he's enjoying the moment and ridiculously confident in what they got going on.
Good offensive line.
And we talk about Stefansky.
He got this job very quickly.
And we as a program, we're very surprised that he just gets hired.
that quickly after how it all went in Cleveland.
He has an off a juggernaut, it appears, here for two weeks.
Will this slow down once the defense gets a book on him, as they say, AJ?
How do you think about that?
I mean, I would imagine every game, every rep that Michael Pennix gets, he feels better
and better and more confident in that offense.
I think they have more confidence in what they can actually run.
So I think their offense can only get better.
And their defense with Albrek at the helm is they look awesome, man.
Like not a lot of big, huge names, superstars maybe nationally,
but guys just know how to get it done.
So they've turned into one of the more entertaining teams actually to watch.
What did Troy say about the Atlanta Falcons defense?
I think you said, basically in so many words,
if you asked like a casual NFL fan,
they couldn't name one starter on the Falcons defense.
And it's kind of true.
Obviously, we know them because we've seen them either in the league
or you follow them and watched them in college.
But they don't have a lot of headline names.
But if you're calling the defense, you've got fundamentals.
I'm always a proponent of, hey, good players, make good coaches.
and a lot of times, you know, you have to have kind of like the player that changes the math,
like a great pass rush or a great corner who can just eliminate the side of the field.
But when you got all 11 playing on the same page, that's on either side of the ball.
The offense, you talk about, you know, getting a book on guys.
Like some of the best offenses, the best players, the best quarterbacks,
kind of ran a lot of the same shit for 15 or 20 years.
Like, they knew what they were doing.
They just were better at executing than the other guy.
Then you have a foundation of a run game and then a running back stable like the Falcons have right now,
if they can stay healthy, that just makes it so much easier for the quarterback and the
offense play call, they're kind of control and set that tempo of the game.
So, I mean, obviously, it's early.
It's only really a couple games into their season, but I'm excited about the future for sure
for the Falcons.
Bejohn Robinson, week four, week four, two, I'm sorry, Brian and Bejohn Robinson here
in week four, two touchdowns, three touchdowns, 1405 yards, 19 carries, 14 carries on the other
side.
I mean, that makes the quarterback's life a lot better.
Yeah.
They'll probably be in the top five.
for A. Q. Stromont. Oh, I would assume.
Same assumption.
They held in New Orleans to like 50 yards rushing, too.
And I understand they fall behind. They can't run as much.
But yeah, they shut the run game down.
What, they have number one rush defense, I think, right?
Yeah, it was one or two on the tail of tape yesterday.
Yeah. I think they have a great rush defense.
So you're going to have to do this one yourself, buddy.
Let's see how you do.
Chris Alavi had some catch.
Yes, he did.
Jawan had some coaches.
Camara out of the backfield looked like a one again there for a little bit.
But they could just never really get going in proper spots.
Right before half.
as they were getting ball in the second half, 24-7,
they drive down and score a touchdown there 24-14,
getting a ball in the second half, completely a different game.
Instead, stop at the 41, they punt it down, pin them, but like, who cares?
It doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter at that point.
And then they get another stop coming out of the second half.
It's like Atlanta Falcons defense is for real.
Let's talk about a couple other things that are for real.
Two officials have been suspended.
One of them has been suspended for two games.
That's right.
This feels like a huge suspension.
Two games?
feels like a lot of games for a ref to be suspended for saying, F you, F you to a player on camera.
So the NFL Refs Association has come out and released a statement, and they basically said,
hey, it's getting a little tense out there with some of these interactions.
So you guys want us to be super duper professional along.
We talk to the players a little bit as well.
We want to kind of manage this and handle this.
I think my takeaway from this all is this provided Roger Goodell in the NFL.
a great opportunity to showcase to players, hey, protect the shield's a real thing.
You know, we believe in protect the shield.
So if you are going to represent our league and you're going to represent the sport,
which is what refs are doing, when they're on an ISO cam,
and they're telling the entire world what happened wrong,
they're representing the sport, they're representing the league.
That is what they are as officials.
They're an official for the league in there.
So we are going to let the world know,
and we're going to let the players know for any future punishments that we give,
that we do not take any shit that will make the,
the shield look bad.
They can grandstand on that forever.
Well, we have a clue that these two
refs aren't reffing for the next two weeks.
No. We have no idea.
But it gave the NFL a good opportunity to showcase
to the players like, hey, we're being serious
about this whenever we say we respect the shield
and we don't want any type of stuff to make us
look bad as a whole, AJ. I think that
is what this has provided the NFL.
And I think it's given them an opportunity
to showcase like we really do mean
everything that we seemingly grandstand
upon sometimes whenever we're punishing
players for stuff.
I think that's a smart outlook like that is.
It does make sense the more you think about it.
But also, who got two games, who got one game?
Do we know?
F you guy.
Got two games.
And then the guy who took the bump, this guy got one game.
He got one for this.
See, I give him credit for hold himself back.
He thought, like, you know, sometimes you get hit in your first reaction,
you know, for a quick second, you never know.
And he actually didn't give him credit.
Look at the, look at the Tony's point.
He's got a lot of pizzazz.
He's got a lot of pizzazz on those.
I just think.
Well, deserved.
I'm sorry, well-deserved.
I was presented.
I've watched this closer again.
One game, I get it.
Well, I think it's because of how instantly combative he was.
That was crazy.
Yes.
You know, you're instantly combative.
This right here.
The point of the face is amazing.
That's my favorite point.
Yeah, that's not the look, I assume, that you want your refs to have as your immediate
thought is, I got to fight this player in the NFL because I got bumped to the ground.
But he did take a big bump.
I mean, that got one like four or five yards.
May have been concussed.
Could have been.
And he could say that.
I mean, we've seen much worse bumps.
We have.
Agreed, but I think the reps are telling them, like,
hey, your first thought can't be, I'm going to fight the guy.
Like, that can't be, you know.
I think that's what the NFL is saying.
The refs saying, it's my third bump in the day.
It wasn't me.
I was concussion.
You see how hard I hit my head off the turf?
Was it me out there?
Do we get an unc?
When do we get somebody who sends us to the blue tent?
But the FU won, getting two games.
I love that.
because we were out here going, come on, let the guy say it.
We might have been a part of the problem.
You know, highlight this and talking about this.
And then McBride kind of pointing at the camera, like, I think that played a role in that.
But even with all that been said, I still, I was shot that, you know, two games, one games.
Maybe a fine, maybe something, but two and one.
And I forget who put the graphic up.
Somebody put a graphic up yesterday of like the last time of ref was suspended.
It may have been like 2012 or 13.
But when Shepty dropped this news in ESPN yesterday,
I was shocked when he even put that live on.
We all kind of had a reaction.
But we kind of even took the size of the refs.
Like, oh, yeah, you're showing some personality.
It's a lot of shit that are said to refs from players or coaches that we see that maybe, you know,
the general public don't.
So I was surprised at the response.
But yeah, you definitely set a precedent with this for sure.
And that's what the ref said in their association put out a statement.
Really?
These guys are allowed to say whatever they want to us.
whenever they want, you want this utmost of professional.
Because what's going to happen now?
Yeah.
What's going to happen now is what happened with Rabel,
where he says, hey, that's an effing terrible effing call,
and he gets a flag for that.
It's like they set a precedent that the refs are not going to say,
now the refs association, rightfully so, I will say.
This is what the refs association is supposed to do,
comes out and says like, oh, is this what we're doing now?
Because we'll send you some tape, and we're all miced up.
So let's go ahead and listen to everything that's said to us by refs,
or by coaches even.
B.A. He used to chew out the refs in practice.
These reps on Thursday and Friday they would come by, try to get some extra refs.
Big 12 Sky Conference reps that live in the area, come get some reps on a fast Friday or on Thursday or whatever the case is.
They make a bad call.
Bruce Ariens killing them on the sideline of practice on a Thursday, period 12.
This practice is about to be over.
We got one play left.
Nobody cares.
Except for you aren't going to be the one that's going to mess this up.
You're the least talented person on this field.
Everybody else out here is professional athletes.
These people have made to the top of their profession.
You, lucky to be here strictly because you signed up.
You are not going to be ruining our practice.
That is how some refs are talked to by some people.
And it seems like Vrable is probably a guy that talks to refs.
I talk to refs my entire life, every sport I've ever played in,
always working reps, or letting them know that I thought they were completely wrong.
In a talented way, I think.
But there was certainly some times where it was a little bit of heat.
I think me and Gene Sterator became friends because of these types of situations that took place out there.
So I don't like that they're probably going to be cutting that completely out now.
I think that's part of Goodell, part of the message like by suspending this ref,
it's saying, hey, we're going to tighten it up on both sides.
They're going to, hey, players, we understand coaches.
It gets like it gets heat out there and you say things, but we're going to try to cut it off now because,
look, we're going to suspend one of our own reps.
Like, we could come down on you as a player here in the future.
Here's a statement from Scott Green, the NFL Ref Association Executive Director.
NFL officials have a responsibility to conduct themselves professionally on the field,
and the actions in these incidents fell short of that standard.
Accountability matters, but that should not result in discipline that is excessive or inconsistent
with established precedent.
Officials are routinely subjected to highly charged interactions and, at times, verbal abuse
from players and coaches.
While that never excuses misconduct by an official, it shouldn't be dismissed as
simply a part of the game. The league expects the highest level of professionalism from its officials,
and it should demand the same from everyone on the field. That line right there is now going to be
the focal point. And there's going to be some people that don't talk to refs, some players and
coaches that don't talk to refs, just not their thing. But there's going to be some players we're
about to find out, like you said, off camera, that do talk to refs. And we're about to see flag on
the field, 15-yard for what? He told me, I was a blind piece of
shit 15 yards first down on a third down or on a fourth down after we should negotiate that though
we should negotiate if you get a personal foul for something you said the ref has to tell everybody
exactly what you said like we need to know why it crossed the line you've said this a lot we've
said this a lot in our negotiations with ESPN actually had to write these things out on
what's going to get bleeped what's not going to get bleeped what is the line like we need to
know because that line changes for everybody jean sterator Pittsburgh pison on
Not a bad talker, communicator.
I think you talk shit to him.
He's probably going to bring something back.
All of a sudden, he's establishing the line with you.
Yeah, we ain't doing that.
Some of these refs, though, aren't big talkers,
which I think they should have to be,
especially if they're a white cap.
And they say something, they get offended immediately.
It's like, now there's going to be no consistency
on what's being said,
let alone the consistency on the calls.
This is going to be tough to officiate.
It's tough, but this is another example of, like,
the NFL just saying, you know,
no group of people or no person is going to be bigger than the shield.
You know, I'm sure they don't want the conversation.
to be around the referees with all these great players,
these great coaches, great, you know,
quarterbacks, whatever.
You don't want the conversation on the stripes.
And, you know, so much respect to the refs.
That is a tough, tough job.
We see the calls.
We see everything on TV.
We see so much replays.
They got to call this shit, full speed.
It's bang, bang.
So it is a very, very, you know, tough, I guess high stressful job.
But, I mean, I guess this is part of what comes with it.
But this is a hell of a precedent to set for the strikes, for sure.
As somebody who had front row seats for a lot of football games,
punter. The refs, man, and had a chance to be in the room where it happens, you know, the day
after the game where everybody's grieving. And here's the messages we got from the officiating,
and here's the actual play. And oh, here's the outcome of this play in what led to after this
play. It's like the refs very much matter. They are a very important part of the entire job,
which is why I don't love that we're just about to take interactions away from players,
coaches, and the refs, but it seems like we're head that way. And what's in this?
you think, can I drink a cup that is in
see-through that I don't have listed on here?
Because I saw Jonathan Taylor clearly
drink tea. Yeah. Yeah. Pinky
was out. It was obvious. He didn't get fine,
did he? Well, see. He put his pinky up.
Do you have to put your pinky up? Yeah, but pinky could
be beer bonged. But he was
in the pinch. He was in London. He was in
England. He sat down.
Crisscross applesauce. Thank you.
Bang. We used
to call it something back in the day.
Do that. So do, so have a guy,
let's test it. Have a guy do a keg stand.
an imaginary cake stand, but haven't put his pinky up when he's sucking on the nozzle like it's tea.
Okay, so he's just drinking tea with the queen upside dine while doing a handstand.
There aren't tea crags.
Because I'm a little bit, we don't know that.
We don't know that.
We do know because we dumped them all into the Boston Harbor, bitch.
Oh, yeah.
And they start making them.
Queen didn't bring it anymore.
Cress in peace.
You have the countdown?
What's that?
She loved horses.
The queen?
The queen is that.
Long live the king, I think, is what people.
people say now.
How are his fingies doing?
Sausage.
So fat man.
All right, let's move away from the
English royalty.
It's like he's got rubber bands around his knuckles at all times.
Well, that's because
his fingers are trying to get away.
And he's got rings on that are just kind of keeping him in there.
I think he's also thinking about
just serving up knuckle sandwiches to his sons.
Basically every other day, he's flip-flopping, which one's teeth.
He wants to knock out.
Yeah.
Exactly.
Walks into another room.
Here's something new.
Yep.
Pretty spot on.
It might pop.
Walks into the dining room or whatever.
It's such a far walk in the fucking castle.
All this way.
It gets in here.
All the food's gone.
Why?
Kids.
Exactly.
Just every day.
Hey, there's another article coming out about you.
Sir, Erie did another podcast.
Yep.
Yeah.
Walks into another room.
Yep.
Sir, your other son, he's just, he's running his fucking mouth.
His hands are just exploded.
The updates he gets.
Yeah.
Goes into his bedroom, about to go to bed.
One last time, pop in from whoever, the town crier, I guess,
popped in and lets him know.
Sir, sir, Erie's sex tape just came out.
God save the queen.
That's right.
God save the queen.
May she rest in peace.
That he did.
But he did a couple times, though.
I think.
There was at least a couple times he saved her.
I'm sure.
In that shell.
Yeah, well, Ryan.
I couldn't get past that one queen.
That one queen was my queen.
Then they dropped in a new queen.
Liz?
That ain't my queen.
I can't do it.
You like the original queen, then the second queen is who?
No, I think I stuck with the second queen.
Was there a third queen?
I think they did three different queens.
Yeah, I couldn't get to the old one.
I tried to watch the show to learn a little about their history.
She fucking loved horses.
Good guy.
How's AJ's Russian queen?
doing. Yeah, how is the Queen Bee? That's good question.
We still got good bees flying out. Don't bring up for us. They're right up.
Yeah, we do. They're doing that. They're doing great.
We're right now trying to consolidate a little bit, trying to get to this winter because
it's not a huge hive, not a huge colony, but we're making, we're making, we left.
They left here. Oh, no, they're all here. No, they could, winter it gets pretty cold here in Ohio,
so we got to make sure we have enough, we build up enough resources, and they got enough
nectar and honey to live off of for the winter. So yeah, we're in the process. We're good.
Sounds like a lot of people are choosing, or a lot of bees are choosing to not be a part of the
Hawkeye. No one's leaving. Oh, no one's leaving.
It's tough in the winter for bees.
Honestly, it is, especially a new colony like mine.
Tough time to be important stuff.
Can you put a dome over it like restaurants do
and they put their tables outside?
They put the dome over it and you can eat out there?
Is that an option?
Heating lamp?
Yeah.
I'm sure you could.
Yeah, but no, bees are pretty unbelievable.
Check it out what they do in the winter, how they ball together
and they create their own heat and they sit in there and in the hive.
It's pretty legit.
I'm tired of bees.
I'm tired of bees.
They're on a shortage.
We're on a shortage.
I don't care.
Bring it back.
They're not going to sting you.
Bring it back.
Fucking kill them all.
I don't give a shame.
No.
Pack it up.
Fuck of that.
We need the bees.
We're flying around like crazy.
Poland, you know what it does?
Other insects do that too.
I'm done with the bees.
Thank you.
Me too.
Don't do this, guys.
Jerry Seinfeld made a great movie about why the bees matter.
Okay?
I suggest you watch it.
I love Honey Nut Cheerios.
Love them.
And I love Jerry Seinfeld.
But I'm done with it.
All that Iowa sweet corn you always brag about
without bees,
it's all day.
A bunch other insects who
Those farmers would do whatever they need to
Those other insects, they suck
Bees do that. I agree. I think all insects suck
But we need a couple of them.
Lady bugs?
They suck.
They suck.
They're cool.
They're usually.
Let me take that back.
Asian Beatles stink.
Lady bugs.
They actually stink.
Yes, they do.
I'm okay with those.
Stank bugs.
Stink.
Stink and just fucking chill.
Lightning bugs?
I don't mind.
I like hitting the baseball bats at night.
And tennis rackets.
That's really fun.
And the glow sticks on to the bat.
The best.
Bees did, Thomas.
The tank engine?
Yeah.
Caterpillers.
I might.
My girl.
See, you're coming to myself.
You guys can't be wishing the death of bees.
It's his fault for being around bees when he's highly allergic, man.
Let's get real.
Butterflies.
Hey, I just got a little heads up for you guys.
Maybe a little happiness.
Commercial honeybee colonies face severe shortages right now.
Oh, that's too bad.
That's not good.
U.S. beekeepers reporting historic average losses of up to 62% in recent seasons,
according to data from the Honeybee Health Coalition.
Now, the reason, Ty, not just your hate and your negativity, it's actually parasites and pests,
nutritional stress as well, chemical exposure, and then climate and weather also a problem for
some of these bees, you know, so maybe you guys will get your wish of having no flowers.
You don't want flowers in the world? What are we talking about?
I like flowers, but if I never saw a flower again, I don't know.
I'd really feel either way about it, you know.
Have you ever seen somebody smiling in the middle of desert for a long time without seeing green?
No, I haven't.
So you need a flower in your life.
You don't want to see flowers?
No, I'm saying, like, I like flowers, but like if, let's say next spring, like, are you gardening?
No, I just like looking at flowers.
Me too, but guess what?
You go to the last time you've seen a flower.
Go to your local flower arm.
Someone else will do it.
Every day, you know?
So in this morning?
There's a frost word.
You ain't seeing no flowers right now.
Okay.
You are. He raises a good point.
When did the HBHC come out with that report, though?
Are they getting better?
Well, the Honeybee Health Coalition actually did.
David Burns is doing great work behind all this.
They're going to do it.
Trust it, we're coming back.
Thank you.
They're tracking the bees, man.
We need them.
No matter how much everybody hates them.
No more bees from Russia, AJ, all right?
Yeah.
No more anything from Russia.
Got to keep it.
Yeah.
It's okay.
No care in this situation.
Don't have a queen.
Is there a microphone on all these bees that you're bringing into America?
you know they uh they spies that would be pretty impressive if it was like what if it's a little
it's a drone russian bee that actually lays real eggs that my other bees take care of and fertilized
boom and they're hatching all spy russian bees that's what we're saying you're rolling that
i never thought of it didn't think about that till right now i gotta get back i'll get out there
to vein check yeah go manage your communist i got some like i got some bug finders you know
that find the hidden microphones and cameras and stuff i'll take it out there i'll sweep it
let you know. Yeah, but modern communist bee espionage is going to be tough just to snore.
You know, you're going to have to, you brought them in there. It's over for my understanding.
No, I'll get to the bottom of it.
Those little eggs are talking about, little baby cameras.
Holy shit.
You got honey potted, literally.
Wow.
Yeah.
You know, like Trojan horse.
It's actually a bee.
Oh my God.
Let's pivot away from this negative.
It just gave a great idea to some foreign country, unfortunately.
They already had it.
They did it.
No, they didn't.
They're right in the middle of a hawk eye for right now.
See what these...
Cut that.
Cut that.
Cool.
All right, let's give away from giving other places ideas,
especially if you can just find somebody in the middle of America,
they'll be like,
I love one of these communists, spymies.
You know, just...
I need it in there, which we have, I guess.
So I don't think any other countries will have that out there.
But I appreciate you getting us, honey.
Good for allergies.
Very good.
Good for everything.
You know what else is good for allergies?
Zyrtec and fucking pills.
All right.
Yeah.
Let's move off of the B subject.
and let's move to college football.
Ladies and gentlemen, joining us now is a man who hosts
College Game Day, both football and basketball.
He has an AP vote for college football and a ranking process.
And for us, every single week, he stops by and delivers his Reese's pieces from the weekend.
Ladies and gentlemen, Reese David.
Yeah, Reeves.
Ray, sorry you had to hear that entire bee conversation.
Do you have a hard lean either way on the bees?
I don't love bees because,
you know, they can be annoying, but I love honey. I love raw honey, manuka honey,
chew honeycomb. I would love for AJ to send me a jar of his honey. Oh, it's communist
honey you want something? This is how to say, this is that what happens, AJ. When we harvest
some, we harvest some in the spring, I'll get your bottle. I would love that. I just bought
something yesterday. I make a snack sometimes. I take peanut butter, honey, and raw oatmeal,
They'll mix it up, like a cookie, and it's sort of good for you.
Do you bake it or is it just dry out?
No, just eat it right then.
Oh, wow.
Greece.
Right then.
And then do you drink it too for that buttery voice of yours that you have?
I do, yeah.
In the tea?
The manuka honey is good for that.
Yeah, I'll put it in the tea.
Sometimes I'll just have a big spoon of it.
Yeah, right that.
I love honey.
I love honey.
Are you doing that on the set of games?
Like, have I missed you just facing honey?
No.
No, I usually do that.
either in the mornings or when I'm at home
or something like that. I'll get a spoon of honey.
Okay, so you're bonging honey. I didn't know that.
So you want to get rid of this guy's
pre-every single day. He just wrote down
Manuka, so. I did. I just wrote down
Manuka, honey. I don't know if I've ever
no, I'm good with all that stuff.
I just, I would like all the bees that are in
my backyard currently to get the hell out
and never come back. Can we have
like a bee farm like there is
for chickens and stuff like that where we
mass produce these things?
It's kind of what AJ's doing right now.
They have commercial operations.
All right, forget about the bees.
I love the bees.
Not everybody in here loves the bees.
We're getting into Manuka, honey.
I cannot wait to see how that changes our lives for the better.
Obviously it works for you, Reese.
Reese, you've been around college football forever, college sports forever.
This college football season has felt special and very unpredictable.
Can you give us your Reese's pieces from the weekend that maybe people need to either think
more about or your big takeaway from what we just saw?
A big takeaway I had, guys, was really obvious.
there were times on that sideline watching Ohio State in Iowa on Saturday that I thought Ty Schmidt's team, I was like, well, that's a turnover.
And Jeremiah Smith just jumped in a couple of times, took the ball away, and made unbelievable plays and catches.
He said after the game, he's the best player in college football, and I think he's right.
You start looking at the numbers and compare it, say, to Devante Smith's high trophy winning season.
and these back-to-back games that Jeremiah Smith has put together,
double-digit catches over 200 yards.
Devante Smith did that three times twice before the Heisman vote came
and then had a long stretch of games where he was getting the ball no matter what.
That was Steve Sarkesian running that offense.
Arthur Smith is doing the same thing.
Arthur Smith is basically saying,
I dare you to stop me from, and Julian saying from getting the ball to Jeremiah Smith.
He's such a difference maker.
I try to think of guys in my career, which I'm getting old,
of watching some of the greatest receivers in this era.
I've always said the two best seasons I've ever seen were Devante Smith
and Larry Fitzgerald.
I thought Larry Fitzgerald deserved the highest in his final year at Pittsburgh.
That and maybe Randy Moss, and I think Jeremiah Smith is right there with all of them.
He's just been unbelievable.
And I think I left Kinnick Stadium Saturday afternoon saying,
I'm seeing something special here.
I know. You always knew he was good, but you're seeing something special with him, I think.
We knew there was no chance. I mean, we loved Iowa. Then we all, we loved it.
I still love it. Cannot wait to get back. I think we are going to be back in the spring a couple different times because of relationships that we have over there, had a bus.
We knew there's no chance they were going to lose two games in the first five weeks, right? We all knew that there was no chance of that happening.
That early loss to Texas in the fourth quarter kind of a collapse, perfect wake up call maybe for Ryan Day and his entire team.
I can think.
AJ, do you view it the same way over there in Columbus?
Is that how the Buckeye fans are viewing it?
Or do they still think this team could collapse late at any time like they did against Texas?
No, I think you have to take it as a positive.
Like, yeah, it's not a season-ender now, which helps for it.
It can definitely be a wake-up call.
I think it can refocus the team.
I'm impressed by Artie Smith, because his offenses have not been like the most explosive
or electrifying in the NFL.
Then you take over the keys of this particular offense.
And you pick up right where you left off.
and might win a Heisman for a wide receiver.
That'd be a very big change to the Artie Smith
offensive play calling narrative.
You know what Artie Smith is good at is when he has an absolute
freakazoid, Derek Henry, Jeremiah Smith.
He knows to feed them.
And that's a really good quality to have as an offensive coordinator.
Yeah, because, you know, sometimes you get worried
about everybody else's feelings and how it all goes,
especially in this NIO era.
I like that everybody's like, no, yeah, yeah,
this is kind of what this is going to be.
Yeah, man, you look at number four.
all 21 other players
yeah you know that that's the one
the ball's probably going to whether we got two
or three guys on him and Teresa's point
same way I'm like oh yeah Phil Parker
he dialed it up once his ball goes in there
they're in great position and nope
Ford just makes a play like his combination of like size
speed quickness and then the ability to make a catch
at the point of attack unbelievable
has he been there three years
is this going to be three years of stats yeah
so so abnormal for a guy of his talent
to be at one school for three years
to rack up all the records that he's about to have.
I like the way they pre-wrapped the balls
before taping the balls to let them know what records they were.
He's going to own them all at a place that is known for a lot,
a lot of great wide receivers.
Reese, there's another place that's known for a lot of incredible football players
and they look real yet again.
Man, I thought Miami separated itself on Saturday night.
Not that Clemson's great, but, you know,
Clemson was trying to maybe make a stand,
make the last stand for the season.
and another great receiver, Malachi Tony, just had by his standards an average night.
And still, Darian Mensa, Cooper Barcate, the Miami defense, they look like another team
that could go back to the national championship game and win it on.
As good as Carson Beck was at times, it certainly seems up to this point in the season
that MENSA has elevated the quarterback position.
A lot of people worried about their offensive line.
I know when talking to Christobal down there in the offseason,
his experience, but he loved the talent that they have there.
That seems to be coming to fruition.
They averaged over five yards of carry against Clemson on Saturday night.
I think Miami separated itself a little bit as well.
And another team that I won't say separated themselves,
but I don't know that I've enjoyed watching anything this season,
as much as I enjoyed Northwestern and what Chip Kelly did
going old-school wing tea out there
and just putting Penn State's linebackers in a blender.
Now, because I'm a nerd and because I try to learn,
and I'm not even being facetious, I'm being serious.
I try to learn so that I can understand a little better
the way you guys talk ball.
I got in a rabbit hole last night of old wing tea stuff
and watching people who had broken down all the things
that Chip had done against Penn State
and how it just befuddled Penn State's defense
with influence, trap plays,
and plays that looked like draw.
and, you know, basically, you know,
Lou Holtz always used to say if you can't block them, read them.
Well, in some cases, Northwestern didn't block Penn State guys
because they're like, yeah, he'll follow this orbit motion,
and he would run them right out of the play.
And it was a thing of beauty.
And these guys ought to be six and one by the time they play Oregon,
and about that time we'll find out just how good they are.
But it's been really impressive.
I mean, they hung with Indiana,
and everybody said, what's wrong with Indiana,
the better question might be what's right with Northwestern.
Big investment.
Big investment.
A brand new stadium.
And if they're invested in a stadium,
I assume they would also like to invest in a team
that is playing in that stadium.
Stadium looks beautiful.
Unreal.
Unbelievable.
Awesome.
It looks awesome.
Especially for a place that we wouldn't expect
to be that invested in football.
I like that they're choosing to do that.
And that adds to the depth of the Big Ten, AJ.
If Northwestern becomes a team, nobody.
That's kind of the thought,
whenever the new teams were added to the Big Ten, it's like,
well, how's Oregon or USC or UCLA going to do in November against Northwestern
or in December against Northwestern at a noon kickoff game,
which is actually a 9 a.m. kickoff game, and it's 24 degrees,
and there's 14 people at the game.
What the hell is USC going to do then?
Well, history has told us that those schools traveling that many time zones have done terribly.
But now if Northwestern becomes a little,
legit opponent. The Big Tennell and gets deeper and deeper, AJ, and I think that's happening with
the amount of money and investment from the alumni of these places. Yeah, I think it's a great
thing. Another team that's playing well, Indiana is traveling to Nebraska. What do you think that
that game looks like? Obviously, Nebraska and Mount Royal feel very good about where they're at,
and Indiana just continues to roll. Yeah, I really, I like Indiana a lot in this game, and I am impressed
with Nebraska's had a few games this year in which it's kind of stumbled out of the gate and then they've
shown the ability to turn it on and kind of pull away at the end. Overmatched opponents for sure.
But for as rich as their history is, this is going to be the first time that two teams have met
in Lincoln with records of better than 4 and 0, undefeated records better than 4 and 0,
since they had a number one versus number two match up against Oklahoma 25 years ago.
So this is sort of a landmark opportunity for Nebraska to show that they, even after the loss of
Dylan Riola after the Matt Rule era hasn't really started as quickly as many of us,
myself included, anticipated.
This is a chance for them to prove that they are back on the road to being competitive at an elite level.
Because Indiana, even if Indiana is not quite yet what it was a year ago, they're still really,
really good.
And it's a great measuring stick opportunity for Nebraska.
Okay, let's go down to the SEC huge.
one down here in Tuscaloosa. Georgia, Bama, the Sabin Dock is premiering on Thursday. It is going to be
a show down there. You're an alum of Alabama. What are you expecting from young Keelan Russell taking on
maybe Kirby's best team in a few years, but also maybe best team in country nobody's talking about
in the Georgia Bulldogs? Georgia has really not played anybody up to this point. Doesn't take away from
the fact that I think they're terrific.
might be the most complete team around, but, you know, Oklahoma's sort of half a team,
you're challenged when you play Oklahoma's defense, but not so much with their offense.
This will be a big test for George, a big test for Gunner Stockton.
George is going to have to make some explosive plays.
Alabama's defense has shown the tendency for, they'll make a big play for somebody,
either for themselves or they'll give up one.
You know, the old saying is somebody's band's going to play, you know, after that,
but there are a lot of difference makers on the Alabama defense,
but at the same time, they've given up a ton of big plays.
You kind of feel like that there will be times that Georgia will make Keel and Russell look young.
That's just sort of part of the maturation process for a quarterback, it seems to me.
So can Gunther Stockton make those big plays and really kind of put a little more heat on Keel and Russell to be able to answer?
Keel and Russell's got uncommon polish.
I mean, Camario Taylor's a terrific quarterback prospect.
I haven't cooled on him a bit despite what happened in Starkville on Saturday.
But Keel and Russell's different.
He's got a lot of physical gifts, but there's a polish to him that is uncommon.
But he hasn't seen anything like he's going to see Saturday night from the Georgia defense.
We'll see how he reacts.
Can you tell me a little bit about the Alabama fan base?
You know, game day's been there a lot.
obviously I've had the opportunity to be down there for a few game days.
There are some locations where game day travels to on a regular basis where, you know,
there's a chance that the luster of game day being there kind of wears off.
Alabama's always been a good scene, but with this young quarterback and seemingly having a couple years with him now,
how does the Alabama fan base feel at this point, especially behind DeBoer where there was a lot of questions going in this year with how last year ended?
I think they're in the process of fully winning over the skeptics.
Now, most, every fan base has an edge that is never going,
edges that will never be satisfied unless they win every game and cover every spread.
You know, I mean, you guys know.
That's the way they are, and that's okay,
because that's what makes it great.
That's why they care so much.
I think most of the rational, reasonable Alabama fans,
and they actually, contrary to popular belief,
they actually have some of those.
I think they knew that DeBoer is a good coach,
and they've been really excited about Keel and Russell for a couple of years
and have him sort of live up to the billing up to this point in the season,
I think has created some energy in the fan base.
As it pertains to game day, they've shown up,
but there is an expectation from an Alabama crowd that they're going to win.
So maybe some of that euphoric feeling of the show returning
that we experienced last week at Iowa is a little bit.
harder to find in Tuscaloosa.
Yeah, some of these places have had a lot of game days.
The teams have been big.
They've hosted a lot of big games.
It's going to be great to get to Tuscaloosa with Sabin yet again.
And also at the premiere of his doc with the world learning a lot about what he did at Alabama.
I think what he did for Alabama, the city of Tuscaloosa as a whole should be a special weekend.
Very, very lucky and thankful to be a part of it.
Now, speaking about being lucky and thankful to be a part of something,
Reese Davis, you have an AP vote.
and that means you have to rank these teams.
Every week he has to put pen to paper.
How many voters are there in the AP for college football?
I think 65, 65 or 68 of memory, so I think 65.
Okay, so all 65 if you put together your top 25,
then it's all pieced together and then points are given,
and then that's how the official AP top 25 ranking goes?
Mm-hmm. That's it.
You get a point, you know, an inverse number of points from teams that are ranked top to bottom.
Oh, 25 points for number one.
24 points for number two
23 points for number three
Is that right?
Answer one
Yes
Then they add up the points
And that's how
And they sort it out
Okay
Do you put out your AP poll
Every single week or now?
It ends up getting put out
On some of these websites
There's one called
College Poll Tracker I think
Or something like that
So everybody votes out
And I don't know if this is available
to the public or not
But where I log in to vote
I can go and see mine
and see how everybody else has voted
once the voting is closed.
You sent us your vote. Do you mind if we make that public?
No, I don't mind.
Boom. Here it is. This is Reef Davis. It's not 25.
Happy you said that we could do that.
Little transparency here from one of the AP voters
for college football.
Reese, I know it's an impossible task
to try to get this right.
Can you tell us a little bit about
piecing this week's together
and how many people you think
immediately are piecing you apart
because of what you did here?
Pretty much all of them,
Because, Pat, I think I shared this with you yesterday.
When I looked at what I was about to send in and looked at my computer screen, I was like, well, I hate that and I hate that.
And I can understand while somebody's going to be mad about that.
And I do it because I think it's a good exercise for me for the show.
You know, I think it kind of gives you a broad picture, makes you consider a lot of things.
I've revised it a bunch of times.
I'm scared to death every week that I've, you know, in the process of physically moving teams around that I accidentally ex somebody out, you know, all of that kind of thing that you worry you're going to get killed about.
But the thing that was the hardest for me this week are, we're all of the one-lost SEC teams.
Because as I look at this right here, Ole Miss beat LSU, right?
But several spots behind Ole Miss, Florida killed Ole Miss.
And, you know, I have Florida behind Missouri because, you know, I have Florida behind Missouri because,
Missouri killed Florida and Mississippi State beat Missouri,
if you're going to try to, at least in this early part of the season,
make head-to-head matter more than anything else,
not meaning everything matter more,
you try to stack them up,
but in this case it was sort of impossible to stack all of those teams up,
giving proper respect to the head-to-head ranking.
So there's a mess.
I know a lot of people are going to look at this and go,
what an idiot, and they won't be wrong.
because there are a lot of things to pick apart about what I ended up having to turn in.
Well, what is that?
The transitive property that you end up having to use A, B, and automatically C,
but if you do that, then you're getting rid of actual head-to-head outcomes
that have just taken place within the last few weeks.
Oh, this guy doesn't, why do the games even play that, asshole?
Yeah, he doesn't even watch it.
Yeah, it is a tough test.
This is why I wanted to show it, by the way, because we do judge the top 25s.
We all do.
You know, the hell of these people don't know what they're talking about.
And then Reese was explaining the process yesterday to me for the first time.
And I'm like, that would be a difficult little thing to do, especially if you throw yourself into the fire.
On that note, can we make yours public?
Yeah, now.
And he said, yes.
So thank you for doing that.
Look at 17, 18, 19 up there.
I believe it's Oklahoma State, Oregon, USC.
They all, all three of those played each other.
But Oklahoma State, you know, has a loss to Tulsa in week one.
How much do you factor that in?
Like, it's a tough, it's a tough little gig up.
Impossible.
You know, and that's a really interesting point, too, because as we go along this season and it'll open you up to more criticism, as we get a little deeper in the season, I'm going to be less bound by the fact that Oklahoma State beat Oregon.
Now, if they keep playing, I may give a little bit more weight to the fact that they have a bad loss or that Oregon maybe just had a bad day.
That's why they call it up an upset.
You know, so you can't just lock in on it forever.
And it was one of the reasons that last year, I didn't have any problem at all with someone who would have had Notre Dame ranked ahead of Miami.
It happened early in the season.
It was a close game. Teams change.
And I think at some point, you reach a point in the season where you have to say, I want to respect what happened on the field for sure.
It's the most important thing.
But you also have to say, take other factors into consideration.
Are they better now?
Have they played a tougher schedule?
They've been challenged more.
All of these things that you have to evaluate.
Yeah, Reese, heavy as the head, brother.
That's why we don't have a vote.
Now, let's act like this is the
actual rankings of these
college football teams. DeBott has a follow-up.
Yeah, Reese, I respect the hell out of you.
I was with you, but everything except that
hogwash about ranking Notre Dame
of Miami. But with that been said,
I ask you every week, your number one team, you obviously
just showed us that and talked about your process.
If you pop that poll back up,
is there any team from the bottom three
rows that you would not be surprised
at all if they kind of jump up into those
top two rows in the next few weeks.
Florida. I know Florida had a terrible day against Missouri.
Missouri just opened up a can on their rear end for sure.
But I still really think that Florida's running game will travel.
So they're one.
And obviously, I would say Oregon, too.
If Oregon has gotten right, then they've got as much talent as anybody.
And they could easily wind up on those first couple rows.
And they have opportunities.
They've got a UCLA who I strongly considered ranking this week and didn't.
They've got UCLA coming up.
You got a game with Ohio State.
You know, they've got a lot of opportunities to be able to prove that they're as talented as we all thought they were in the beginning.
No pit.
No.
No, no.
No, no.
I know.
And we're having him on the show Saturday.
You think he's going to notice?
Well, he better.
I sold the stock on them last week.
A day after they win that huge game, you don't even put them in your APT.
He was talking directly to you.
Hey, to the rancers and to the voters,
how about a little respect here?
And you said, I hear you, dudes.
I hear you.
Okay.
There's a lot of other teams out here.
What was it about Pitt?
No can do's.
A couple of, the first thing to answer,
the answer directly, the biggest reason
that I had them in at first and then opted
to, I think, put Wisconsin in their spot
is they lost their quarterback.
So I just want to see what they are now without Heinzel.
You know, Gerner came in and did a good job off the bench.
how will that sustain?
But I think the truth of the matter is, at least to me, how I evaluate this,
you can take teams probably starting around number 20 and get down to about 35,
and there's not really a lot of difference.
You know, there are a lot of teams.
Nebraska's not in there.
I mentioned UCLA.
Pittsburgh certainly has a case.
There are a number of other teams that you could put in there.
That's a reasonable choice to make.
So I don't think there's a lot of difference, but you have to stack them up.
in some order and you have a cutoff point.
So you've got to make some kind of choice.
I see some differences in your AP top 25 vote
and ladies and gentlemen, who sits at top
tones above average poll this week?
Now, we have to describe what it above average poll is,
especially in the college football world.
It's not from, you know, 30,000 feet.
That would just be like an average poll.
Sure, yeah.
It's not boots on the ground.
No.
Deep elite pole.
It's just an above average poll.
We got a little bit more information than most.
We pay attention a little bit more.
We're not super deep in there.
No.
But we're certainly above average deep in there.
And that's what Tone's poll is all about.
Sorry.
I've got to grow up.
And a lot of it's eye test.
When you look at that pool, you know if it's a good poll or not.
Who sits atop your above average pole this week, Tone?
I test this week and what happened this weekend and just kind of, you know,
who won the weekend?
it was the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Congratulations.
Wow, what's that in the back there?
Oh, that's the Buckeye Grove, and that's actually A.J. Hawks' tree.
They dedicate trees to all the All-Americans, and that's exactly what A.J.'s tree looks like.
So that's kind of what we decided to go with there.
There's a couple other options we decided we could have gone with on the Buckeye campus,
but this is what we decided on.
Where's Big Nut? Yeah, I didn't see Big Nut.
Big Nutt certainly looking for Herbie, for my understanding.
Ohio State Buckeyes sit atop your above-average poll,
then Georgia and Bama heading into a massive weekend.
So they are two and three on you down there at the bottom,
right at the bottom of the pole.
Yeah, right there.
Kind of fighting over who's going to sit atop tones above average poll next week.
There's a good chance.
The winner of that one is the top of the poll next week.
Oh, so you're kind of giving away what you're going to be looking at.
Maybe. We'll see. I mean, there's a lot of big games this weekend.
So your poll is saying what's tickling my fancy is whenever a big time school
beats another big time school, they got an opportunity to get right to the top of this poll.
Yeah, you're reading my poll.
well, sir. That is what it is. And then, like I said, the eye test and kind of going into a tough
environment and what you do there. You know, I respect Reese having Texas there at number one because
of what they have accomplished and who they've beaten so far this season. They beat Ohio State this
season in their own house by a point. There's not eye testing it for me right now. We'll see what
happens that team as thank you. See Reese? Thank you. And we'll, uh, yeah. But Reese as an AP voter
has to. Yes, you have to. Yes, you have to. Has to do that. He knows that, though,
because he's got respect for the game,
respect for the position.
And I think a little bit of respect for tons
above average pole, too, Reese.
I do.
I do.
I like it a lot.
In fact, what Tone said about is above average pole,
my arguably below average pole
might very well have the winner
that Georgia Alabama game at the top,
depending on how they look.
Well, everybody's got G&A
on top of their bowl potential
here in the next couple days.
We appreciate you.
Ladies and Jim, that's Reese, David.
Hey, Ray.
Reese is phenomenal.
AJ, good.
Look at you. That tree looks exactly like you.
Brutus did that too
with some shears. Yeah. Yeah, I always
trimmed your bush. He trims you up. He does.
Rockies trim in the bush
at a tones above average pole and Big Day
with Big Shrags. Bringing out a big place next.
Do they give me the
delay of game zero? Yes. Yeah, you got it.
You're good. Generally.
I feel pretty good about it.
Why was Deepak laughing in the middle of that?
I don't know. Sorry, guys. I got to be professional.
I think it was something about a deep
pull. Oh. Yeah. Yeah.
It's spelled P-O-L-L-D-But.
Yeah.
It's a deep pole for the D-Poles.
It's a good pole.
Going deep down there, you know.
How is Big Day with Big Shrakes?
We don't get to watch it.
Saw a little yesterday.
Smidge.
I think today's the day where rap goes on and looks really cool casually.
If it's Tuesday.
Oh, they had jacket with shirts.
Yeah, it looks huge.
Layers. It was cool.
Yeah, get on, St. Page.
Shrag's rap before you.
We never get to see your show, but we are happy for sure.
Oh, baby, Shra.
It is a big day with big shrags breaking down all of the big plays.

MLB has two games tonight that certainly matter.
We wish we could see the future.
Did you hear about that earlier, AJ?
We were hoping that we were in the future.
Yeah, I think there's still hope.
Is there, for a long time,
it feels like time travel has been something
that has been talked about, fantasized about.
Would now be the time in which we would be able to figure it out
more so than ever, and have we?
I mean,
just because you haven't seen someone do it,
doesn't mean you can't figure it out.
Oh, you're quoting the Santa Claus.
I like that.
I just watch In-Game.
They figured out.
Yes, they did.
What did? Avengers?
Mm-hmm.
Gamera.
Yeah.
I saw Anthony Mackey.
Yeah.
Last night.
Captain America.
Captain America.
Juvenile?
Mm-hmm.
Great performance last.
I wish it was a little bit longer, but.
They only had six men scared by you.
Sure.
Slow.
A transition.
Kirk Franklin.
That's hard.
To juvenile with slow motion and trombone shorty going crazy.
Then Eric Church coming out there.
It was a show.
How about how big the stage was?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Big stage.
felt like a big night.
Man, I bet you big Shragis is breaking all that done.
For sure.
We did see the future in here yesterday, though, with the, I mean, it worked out for the Saints,
but Kimar getting in the paint twice.
We talked about that.
Felt really good about that.
Felt really good about that.
Talked about that doing warm-ups when he was standing in front of me.
I forget how powerful all these guys are.
Camara's legs are gigantic.
Yeah.
We were standing right behind him, and I'm like, complete forget about those.
And he's number one on 20-year anniversary night again.
Cameras wanted to be there.
felt like he was inevitable.
Felt like Camarra was inevitable yesterday.
Not as inevitable as Bichon.
And Brian.
The Robinson's quite a little duo, does it.
Yeah.
That was fun.
Week four of the NFL season provided a lot of magic.
A lot of magic.
College football did as well.
Yeah.
That Florida lost in Missouri is crazy, AJ.
Actually crazy.
Just complete blowout.
Yeah, I mean, there's anomalies.
Things happen, I guess.
But yeah, we'll see how they rebound.
We will see how they rebound.
If you had a huge weekend and then you have to go on the road,
you're just going to lose.
That's kind of how the story.
the season. It happened, you know, with Ole Miss after LSU
going to Florida. Florida does it in Missouri, which is kind of
how things are going to go. Why is that happen,
though, AJ? We've been trying to figure that out since the beginning of time.
It's human nature.
Yeah. Right? That's what you're fighting against in football
at all times. That's what Nick Saban is always fighting
against, like, taking a breath, taking your foot off the gas,
whatever it may be. And I think it's
I, you know, you can't even, it's hard to blame coaches, players.
Just think of the atmosphere you come from. You have this giant,
huge emotional situation, and then,
I don't know. You fall behind early in a game like this,
then it gets, you know, hopefully your team
sticks together and it doesn't pull you
apart, hopefully it brings you together.
Signetti having an undefeated team.
Crazy.
Yeah.
Got to get lucky with injuries, first of all.
You got to get lucky.
There's a couple of plays that have to go your way.
You think back to Penn State last year.
Iowa had a couple of those.
They go their way.
Oregon.
Oregon had, yeah, out in Oregon.
No.
Yeah, when they played at Oregon.
None of the pick six.
Oh, yeah, that was earlier in the year.
Yeah.
Yeah, they needed it.
Oregon, Penn State, Iowa.
Yeah, those are kind of the three.
Yep.
And then Ohio State cracks Fernando's ribs first play.
Caden Curry back in town, playing for the Colts now.
Could be a 3-1 football team.
They're 2-2 and 2.
It took the Chiefs for overtime.
Everybody's San Chiefs are the best team in football.
What do you mean could be?
Like they could be.
Could be 4-0, actually.
Yeah.
No, that first week.
They didn't lose two years.
Oh, yeah, they got killed.
Yeah, we're never going to beat Baltimore there.
We were never going to beat Baltimore that week one.
That was pretty evident, maybe from warm-ups.
That felt pretty evident.
But Chiefs, overtime, a little wake-up call because it's freaking hard-ass league.
Yeah, I am right.
Which league you feel like you got a better feel on right now?
College football or the NFL?
We think, okay, I got these teams.
I got these coaches.
I got them figured.
I know who's who right now.
Neither.
I got no clue.
I felt pretty good about Atlanta winning last night, but thought atmosphere would overcome.
College feels more obvious.
like the Ole Miss going into Florida after LSU
where everyone's on, you know, Ole Miss is unbelievable
but Florida is favored by three points.
Like that feels obvious where it's like you should be taking
Ole Miss. Same thing with, or Florida, excuse me,
same thing with Missouri, Florida.
It's like when those lines come out as far as Vegas goes
and they just don't feel right based on what you just saw a week before,
like that doesn't make any sense.
Whereas like in the NFL, it's like if your team looks like shit
next week, you should bet on them because they probably are going to
to look great. Yeah, I guess in
the NFL, the parody of the talent,
if they have bad week, they get embarrassed.
They're probably going to play good the next week. I guess
the youngness of the college
teams, even though they still have money as teenagers,
them being able to bounce back
is not as likely, I guess,
in this entire, but there's going to be a team that
just gets hot and just pounds everybody.
It's the greatest sport of all time.
It is the greatest.
Watch this week now, because
obviously it's a weaker move, because I don't know if they
had a bi-week or not, but Texas is coming off the
big win at Tennessee. Everyone's high on Texas. Everyone is
very, very, very down on Oklahoma. And then they just
got boat race by Georgia in their last game.
It wouldn't be, I don't think it'd be shocking if Oklahoma won this one.
Over under 39 and a half. Every game.
Yes. Anything can always happen.
And like even to Tone's point about, you know, Georgia just beat the shit out of
them and everyone's low on Oklahoma. Oklahoma was about to score
touchdown. Then your time to tie the game up and then
material just a lot on the ball and throw,
And Chris Cole picks it up and goes 90 yards for touchdown.
I think we, oh, rap does have a really cool jacket.
New it.
He looks really cool.
When we're at that desk making picks and he gets down to Herb Street and he goes,
this one feels obvious.
And he kind of looks at all of us as if we are idiots.
But he like actually trust it.
Like him picking Minnesota over Michigan, he like trusts it.
Like, ah, for me, it's hard for me to just trust it at this stage.
when Herbie starts talking and guarantees,
we'll be on a production meeting on like Monday.
And he'd be like, anybody that thinks blank,
thing that I certainly thought.
I certainly thought.
Just really doesn't understand the situation
that is kind of cooking down there.
It's because he's been there for so long.
So every once in a while,
he'll have like these feels of like guarantees
and he either drops him on like Monday in the production call
or he'll do it at the desk.
And I'll look over and then he says it.
And I'll think to myself like, hey,
couldn't you have
said that before?
Like five minutes ago, maybe
told me that before we do this entire thing
but he hasn't been right every time.
He was, and I didn't understand it,
and I know Gumpson or saying,
he was talking very highly of Clemson on Saturday.
Yeah, they'd be doing that a lot.
They always do.
They've been old and Gabble
and Clemson's water for years.
I mean, Gabbo for a long, long time
was one of the most dominant coaches and operations.
People forget, like people forget what the run
Clemson had.
Yeah, because it was like 10 years ago.
Well, it has been a while.
At least five since I've been a part of game day.
I've not seen a single good, you know, Clemson team.
Just like Lincoln Riley with USC.
Yeah.
They all have very high expectations for him because of what he was done in the past.
So you've got to remember all the game day people have been there for like 20, 30 years.
So they've been around a long time.
So Clemson had a long run.
There was a lot of really good dabbo for a lot of those people in there.
Dadbo also very good to people.
Like very nice guy, very nice guy.
One Natty and 19.
Yeah.
So I think there's a lot of like natural support of him.
in that room. So they talk him up
a lot, but I don't really, I
have not seen it, and I don't really
talk to him. They were great forever.
I like him as a person, as a coach.
I appreciate the way he operates, but anytime
I have spoke about college football
in a big way, which I'm lucky to do, I haven't
seen him do good. And then I even say, I'm picking
Lincoln Riley for two weeks in a row here.
Think about me saying that versus how they view
Lincoln Riley. They view Lincoln Riley as a guy that could
have went to the Dallas Cowboys. Could have been coach
or any of these teams. But obviously, we're
seeing what we're seeing with USC. So just
generations, I think, just different errors and how it all goes.
But it does feel like Clemson.
They don't have the guys I used to.
I mean, if they didn't beat North Carolina after that weather delay,
it would be even worse.
Like, you almost would wonder if he's fired.
The thing I don't, he won't be, it's like 57 million or so.
I forget the number.
There's a bio.
Oh, yeah.
That is.
Like A&M.
How do you get back on track, though?
How do you get back there?
That's the thing.
When you fall out of that, like, top, you know, the top four or five teams,
I don't know how many years it takes me.
You've got to find a way to get those big-time recruits back.
You've got to figure something out.
Yeah, and who are you going to hire after Dabo for everything he's done for Clemson?
There's a lot of those types of- He is Clemson.
Like, he is Clemson.
For sure.
Yeah, exactly.
But it hasn't looked good for five years.
It hasn't looked good.
Need a massive influx of cash so you can just go out and get a bunch of really, really good players.
And I know they already have, like, recruiting-wise.
But, like, we've seen it.
That's kind of what it takes.
If someone comes in and you have a huge donation, like, you can turn things around.
pretty quickly.
It is a $57 million buyout right there.
There you go.
Feel pretty good about that.
I don't think a lot of people will think about the amount of numbers that are kind of
floating through all of our heads for everybody's contract and how much everybody's
worth all the time.
The $57 million one, I think, is because I go to Pete Thamwell, you know, I go to Pete,
I go, so Dablish is there forever?
Like, how's his work?
And he goes, yes, I think he is.
I think he's warranted at least a little bit of a runway over there for what he is done.
And I'll show 57 million, I believe.
right now. Show who has the cash for that?
I think it's got a big one too.
That's because of who they were.
What is it after? What is it postseason?
Do you think it drops off a cliff or not?
And then what does Dabo do?
Like, what does Dabba do after? He's a professional golfer, right?
He's making $57 million.
Preacher?
Maybe.
Is Dabbo golf? I don't know if I've ever seen Dabo talk or golf.
Dabon, I'm saying you're making 57 million.
Okay, he's a professional.
He'll be a TV guy. He'll be great on TV.
He'd be great on TV.
Would?
Listen to the way.
I think so.
Yeah.
Trad TV.
He does the TikToks.
Hey, so I have started to,
because there's people that hate
my and our guts for the way we do things,
but there's some genres of TV that I fucking hate.
Like, I think is, like,
I would be embarrassed to put that on TV,
but there's people that, like, absolutely love that,
absolutely hate us, you know?
So I just call that Trad TV, like, traditional TV stuff.
You know, like, I kind of go in that avenue.
Like, Dabo would be purses.
perfect for trad TV. He's going to say everything you want him to say. He's going to have great
energy. He's going to have the answer. His resume's legit. He's going to be upbeat. He will do the
fucking shit. He will do all of the shit. He could host a game show. Like honestly, he could
branch into non-ports things at that. Trad TV. I think he would be a home run. Maybe 100 meter
dash running up and down that hill all day. He's still rolling. Him still striding. I think is
one of the more impressive things. And maybe he should be playing for his teams, you know, but
his refusal there at the beginning of the transfer portal
to operate in there and take a stand for ball
and for college sports, I do think everybody was like,
thanks, Davo.
Nice.
It's very noble of you.
I like what you're doing, taking a stand for this entire thing to keep what it is.
But everybody that was clapping for him on the other side was like, how do I get?
Way to go, man.
Way to go, dude.
Yeah.
All right.
No business.
All right, man.
You're doing so good, Davo.
Now, I just told you wide receiver.
We got about $3 million for him.
So good luck telling him that he just needs.
keep doing it. So I think he did get delayed.
You know, he started late, started late, started late in that game.
Then he did start dabbling because he realized, man, everybody's doing it.
Not the only one, really, that he's kind of taking a stand for ball and saying we're not doing it.
So now he's in there.
Is it too little too late?
Does he have to go through the growing pains now with the transfer portal?
Who you get out of there, how you get out of there, and how much money they have to operate in there?
Down in Clemson, we all assume a lot at every school, but who knows what's real and what is it everywhere.
That's why I appreciated Kirk Ferren's talking about this setup at Iowa.
thankfully he is and what's reality
you know he like spoke about the reality this start
we're never going to be able to get the five star guys
five star guys are getting millions and millions
of dollars unless they're in state that's really
the only way and like they you know grew up
like I didn't always what like that's the
those are the only five star guys they ever have a chance
of getting hey that was cool my with you and Kirk
thank you very cool I appreciate that
you have been saying Kirk's dogs
since the beginning of talking into my friends around here
yeah I assume he's heard that
no I mean yeah I think so
I think he, and I know the GM, I've gone back and forth with him for a while now,
but like that, I mean, that's real.
Like, I've been to probably, well, like 100 Iowa football games over my life, you know,
and like, I don't really remember what it was like before he was there.
So, like, that is, you know, yeah, that was very real.
He got a little emotional too, didn't he?
Oh, yeah.
Yinser, tough guy, offense alignment.
He was thinking in real time, man, I have been here a long time.
Yeah.
How old this guy used to.
Yeah.
They were nice, man.
I was really nice to us.
I hope we get a chance to go back at some point.
I hope so.
I think so.
We'll see.
It was a good time.
All right.
Anything we need to hit that we haven't talked about today?
Tyson Bayesian started for the Packer, or Bears, I'm sorry.
Jikes.
We have versed the backers.
Versus the Packers, okay?
So I apologize for getting that wrong amongst the two.
Obviously, big rivalry game.
You worried about the Bagman?
I mean,
I could be playing quarterback for the Bears
and I think I'd be worried with how the Packers have been playing.
So we'll see. It's at Green Bay,
which certainly helps. But
they're so banged up. They still
can't block anybody. They can't run the ball.
So I don't...
This is off a win. It's not good.
They just beat the bucks.
Yeah, against an undrafted rookie quarterback
and did everything they could to lose
that game. Was he seven?
He was undrafted. Oh, I thought he was late seventh round.
No. And he's, I mean, it's not like he's some bum.
Like, he is super athletic, but, like, no, I'm not getting fucking excited over that, especially when the best player on the defense tears is Achilles during the game.
And same deal.
Shitload of penalties.
A bunch of drops on offense.
Still can't run the ball.
Kevin Zitler might start this week, though.
So that's, you know, and if that's what you're kind of circling as, like, our season's saved, Kevin Zitler is starting.
You're in a rough spot.
Did you guys work out a Q this week?
I think you work out.
too, quite frankly.
Yeah.
They need to, but I don't think they did.
But I'll tell you what, AQ's
protege needs to step it
up at left tackle. I know that.
He's out of the shipyard? Yes, he is.
Yes, he is. And he's actually not been
that bad. I like giving an AQ
a hard time for that. But no, we'll see.
I mean, like the bears are,
you know, they're kind of the class of the
NFC North right now, even though the Vikings are
undefeated. Bagman
slicing and dice in for another.
And I don't hate him, like, you know,
I have no ill will.
You love the bagman.
I do love the bagman.
So, like, it's kind of weird.
We have an official appeal
from the NFL refs.
We don't know what their new
collective bargaining agreement has
for what they're allowed to appeal or challenge.
But they certainly are challenging
the severity of the suspension of two officials
for the unprofessional conduct,
which the official union maintains
when beyond appropriate punishment.
I assume the NFL is going to say,
we got a new CBA.
You challenge it.
Was that me?
You put a tweet out through Schaefter?
Okay, that's all you got.
Shut the fuck.
They think they're above the letter of the law.
These refs, man.
They think there's games about them.
They think we're showing up at stadiums
and sitting down and watching Red Zone
on our TVs for them, for the stripes.
I don't think so, my friends.
Take your suspensions, hit the road.
See when you get back.
Games gone.
I think this has only happened like four times
in the history of the league
where refs have been suspended.
One of the times in 1968,
Gumpy, correct me,
if I'm wrong, an entire crew
got suspended.
Because they gave too many
plays, downs.
So they were definitely
Oh.
Yeah.
Oh, I got six downs.
Fixed.
What city was in?
It was 1968.
I think it was 1960.
New Jersey, man?
Yeah,
Chicago, New York.
Pittsburgh.
Who is it?
Who is it?
Who is it?
1968, six officials
were suspended for one game
after losing track of the downs
during a game
between the Chicago Bears
and the Los Angeles Rams.
Six officials suspended.
Lost track of down.
What? They had seven dogs.
That was Capone's crew.
Yeah.
I don't have a camera.
What do you want?
I don't know.
It's a 1960.
That was one year before they called the moon.
Yeah.
Shout out.
Still fixing games.
Is that Mitt laughing?
I don't know why he's laughing his ass off.
Mitt, fucking take a hike, pal.
I don't want to have the, yeah.
Fuck you, Mitt.
We went to the moon.
Oh, he didn't believe it?
Jackass's muffled laughter coming from the back.
Yeah.
I'd like to know Mitch's opinion on that.
Actually, you know what?
so would I. Yeah, we
really went to the moon, guys. I know. We haven't
been back ever since. We haven't.
I haven't heard that one
before. Do flags blow
in the wind in the space?
I've seen that. Yeah, thank you.
I was going to say, God has not to spell his own fucking
name, but he'll go ahead and tell
me about telemetry and how he went to the moon.
Can you open his mic back up? What did you score in the ACT again?
I got a 32.
Oh, that's changed.
Used to be a 33.
Yeah, something. It used to be.
some fake number that he made up. I mean, we got
multiple people in here that said they went to school, didn't
go to school, they just lived on campus. We got a fake
ACT score that people could roll with.
Mitt's doing a good job, though. I shouldn't
have come at you that hard, Mitt.
I apologize. He did big pop out of the 19609
phone call to the moon. He did.
1968, six officials, 2018,
an official was suspended.
And then 226, two officials
line, oh, so it's only been three times.
I thought it was four different times.
What would Aces? May it appeal like a player?
They said challenge. So it sounds like in the
CBA, they can't. That's why
they are saying the word challenge
instead of appeal, but that's
just me with an
amateur eye looking at the wording
of how we get to the bottom of this.
We are going to challenge it. We're going to show up
at the office and we're going to say
we don't like it.
Throw the red flag. They should knock it down.
Challenge is a ref word though. I think it's too large.
They go two to one for the two games to one.
What if they go to half game for that other guy?
That'd be cool.
By a second half. That'd be kind of weird.
Stone cold.
Hey, we need to read the steps from Stallone.
Somebody in here.
I'm not a big book reader, but we need to support Slice Stallone.
You got the steps.
Is it out?
I think it's out.
I thought him doing the rounds.
It sounds really good.
I don't know.
I would definitely read that, though.
Okay, if we can read Slice, the steps.
Does he do the audiobook?
I'll listen to it.
Yeah.
In his voice, then yeah.
Get a chance to watch him work there a few different times?
Yes, it is out.
Okay.
The Steps is what it's called?
Yep.
Legend.
He's writing, working.
The story of Rocky, I believe, I think he's in the process of making that as well.
So you can tell the story of what he was doing.
That movie comes out soon.
Yes, about the making of it.
So he's shooting that thing all day on camera and acting.
Then he's editing all night, writing in morning, and then filming again the next day.
Broken ribs because of the things just doing three, four hours of sleep, basically, as he's piecing together, Rocky.
they tried to come buy it from him.
He says absolutely not.
Owns it becomes his own end.
Then he started talking about the numbers,
not just Rocky, everything at Rambo,
everything else he's been a part of.
It's like biggest star in action history,
and he's with the pen too.
It's not just reading lines out there.
Yeah, and still, we're doing Tulsa King.
I got a chance to be a part of a couple episodes.
Season 4 is coming out soon.
October 16th.
Season 5 just got,
it just got picked up for another season.
Season 4 is coming out, October.
October 16th, honor to be a part of, so cool to be a part of and watch him kind of do his
thing. But go back to his trailer in between shots, he's handwriting, and somebody has to take
a picture of that, send it to somebody to put it into like how modern day is, because he's
right, he just writes it all, notes on everything. We should do this and say, we should do this
and said, at this age, he's still very invested, still writing, still a genius, still command and said,
and I've never seen a guy smoke more cigars. AJ, I know you smoke a lot of cigars. It was
a, I mean, we are chain smoking cigars.
Beast. It was.
He's like the classy guy smoking with wearing a full nice suit and not getting any ash on it.
Like, yeah, I don't know how some of those guys are so clean with it.
Three piece. Yeah, and he looked off at a cane.
It was an honor to be a part of.
It was to watch him work.
And then the steps, the book comes out.
Roll the calls with Ari.
He's, what, Super Agent.
Ari Lloyd.
He has his book out called Roll the Calls as well.
And then Mosquito Bulls coming out.
Yeah.
I think next month.
Like a month?
Yeah, the week before Thanksgiving, right?
Watching Peter Berg work, learning about the Marine Corps,
learning about these college athletes football superstars
that chose to go to the Marines in World War II
as opposed to go into professional football.
So a lot of stuff we've been very lucky to be a part of
and learn about.
Slice Stallone's war on once.
I mean, he had a lot of people that did not like his success there for a while either.
No, and tried to make sure he would not be successful.
And what do you do?
Why?
Just keep on.
Because he was in a, yeah.
You own his own shit?
And he's Italian.
They tried to buy it from because he said that's what the name of the movie is.
I play Rocky because he wanted to use like, I wrote this for myself.
I'm going to be in this.
In the studios were basically like, yeah, no.
Like you sound like that.
You're not being the fucking lead actor.
That's just not happening.
He just said no, no, no.
And then eventually they're like, fine, you can do it.
But they put a bunch of restrictions.
Like if this goes one day over what like the projected shoot is, we're going to shut it down,
bringing an entire new.
And then like that's a big part of it is like he did all the stuff.
So he's in there.
you know, the scene reason, like the meat locker.
He broke one of his hands, like, for real,
and they were worried, like, oh, shit,
we're going to take him to the hospital.
This is going to put us, like, you know,
a week behind shooting.
Everything's going to get shut down.
He's not going to be, like, he'll get replaced,
all this kind of stuff.
And so, like, the fact that it actually was successful,
he won an Oscar for it.
It was, like, you know, truly, like,
rags to riches, like, unbelievable how it worked out.
Owns his shit, though.
Yeah.
He won against a lot of people, you know,
and had success, which people aren't going to like.
From our understanding.
Nowhere near his level.
But it was an honor to watch him work and Pizan special.
Whole family committed to the whole project, every project.
Good for them.
Can't wait to read The Steps.
Somebody read it.
I will.
Sweet.
I didn't know that was happening or was a thing.
I absolutely will read that.
Oh, no, no.
We're back tomorrow.
Hell yeah.
Hey, tomorrow's NFL week five Eve.
Man.
Let's go.
It's already Tuesday.
A good one.
Here's a big one.
It's a Thursday.
Cowboys bucks.
Okay.
All right.
We them boys, as Joey Porter Sr. says.
That's right.
We done boys.
Who sings that song, Weed them boys?
Hmm.
Hmm.
Oh, what was interesting?
Who is it?
Who's Khalifa.
Where's he from?
Pittsburgh.
Oh, so maybe Joey Porter Sr.
He was just showing a little love to Pittsburgh.
What he was saying,
Weed up boys are Wiesklee.
He certainly wasn't.
He tried to keep him out of football for four weeks.
Double entendre.
I got no problem with him doing that.
I just didn't want to see him.
So you blocked them.
No, and followed.
Sweet hat.
Take care of your house.
This one?
Yeah, is your house clean?
They don't like...
Boy, you ever seen a quote mistaken
like that one before?
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, I've seen a lot of that,
but it does feel like that is kind of the world we live in right now.
He's better clean his house.
What does he mean by that?
Because I heard maybe a three-minute answer
that had that quote in the middle of it somewhere.
Yeah, I listened to that full question and answer.
And it was literally, it's week four,
or sorry, going into week five.
so we've seen, you know, what the schedule was for the first four weeks.
That's what Big Mike prepares for.
And we got a little bit of a mini-buy after playing on a Thursday night.
And now we've got some things to clean up is basically what he said.
But that is not how it was taken, was it?
I've seen this quote everywhere on my timeline.
You know, and I thought it meant something completely different
before I went and actually listened to the answer.
So I could see how that gets taken out of context.
But, you know, that's just Big Mike saying we need to fix some things before we go into week five.
Pittsburgh Steelers going to win Super Bowl this year, AJ?
They might, but how did people take this?
I don't understand.
Fire everybody.
Yeah, he's got to fire.
He never said it was fired, but he's talking like mental errors, missed assignments, things like that, pre-snap penalties, all that.
Yeah, we're not worried about other things.
We got a lot of our own shit.
We've got to figure out of what he's saying, as opposed to, hey, let's take that couch, get the fuck out of us.
I love this back and forth.
That's so great.
Oh, what a fuck.
Also, if you don't know, if you don't like each other, play.
like a player and a coach that hate each other don't really do this.
Like this is a thing where they care about each other and they can, you know, this happens.
That's the best.
That's fucking assholes.
You know, that's you know, most people just don't see.
Now you see, you know, T.J. Watt getting on the headset or who else was another coach or quarterback kind of getting after him?
Being in me and my home is kind of just having a spirited kind of like, it's so much going on.
So much emotion.
Yeah.
I mean, yeah.
Remember to Travis Kelsey.
Bunt with Andy Reed.
Like, that shit just happens.
It's part of it.
Language of love in Pittsburgh.
Source says.
Tell us.
Immediately after that moment.
I love it.
Hey, what's going on?
You guys about to fist fight each other?
Source says.
What do you mean?
I saw a video last night.
There was a lot of stuff being said back and forth.
I believe fucking asshole is the words that came out.
Love Eka.
There's a language of love here in Pittsburgh.
What are you talking about?
Going from the sideline out?
Thought you were trying to call and lift a friend up here.
Do you remember that?
Yeah.
That was his answer.
I'm just trying to do some journalism here, man.
Oh, come on.
Come on.
Come on.
We're already lost enough, I mean.
I don't like that picture they put out.
Who?
I'll show you guys that.
Do you like the picture the Houston Texans put out of C.J.
Stride?
No.
Holding the chicken nuggy?
Oh, anybody's saying on the internet is this guy's trying to meetball sub.
Hyatt Italian sub coming right up from Justin Herbert.
that's what people are saying.
That's this year's shit talk.
Boy, it is tasty what you're throwing to the other team.
As Tora, the Texan certainly put that back together as well.
They have not won a game since he tore the terrible towel, which is bad news.
Houston Texans put C.J. Stroud right into the fire.
Look at this guy throwing chicken nuggets around.
I can't wait to put some marinera in a bun on that thing.
He's throwing chicken pomm sandwiches down the field next week.
That's what everybody on the internet is waiting.
and, you know, it's always great when it's your own people
that are doing it.
Like he used to text it to it, C.J. Stroud.
He has not thrown a pick.
No.
Okay. CJ Stroud actually playing okay football.
Pretty good football.
They're O-N-4.
But Houston Texans social teams, like, you know what?
McDonald's gave us a good amount of money.
Let's fucking let, let's remind people how C.J.
Stroud showed up to training camp real quick.
And we're O'N.4.
I'm sure people will look into how he's actually doing this season,
not just look at this particular photo
and see the Texans are O'N4 and not cook him.
This is, this is just dropping right into the fire.
We talked to Bryce Young.
he had a very adult view on it all.
He assumed CJ Stroud will as well.
But that came across, that got sent in,
and I'm looking at it, I'm like, so who did this?
The Houston Texans did this?
Oh, no.
Yikes.
Can't do that.
Just cannot do that too.
Have JJ Watt with one on a fork.
Well, Anderson.
Something along those ones.
We're covering one.
But when the trend of the internet is,
this guy's thrown fucking tasted,
To everybody, if he's ass, I don't know if we need to be putting nuggies in the hand.
Oh, and 14, franchise quarterback, having signed him to a long-term deal.
Showed up looking at the looks.
Had a terrible playoff run, but not playing bad football.
Let's go ahead and fucking drop him into a fire.
But a lot of numbies on those nuggies.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I assume.
Ron, a lot of quote tweets.
Yeah.
McDonald's gonna give him at least an extra $2,500 for them.
At least.
Maybe one ticket to a suite for a game.
Sure.
And if you're a Texans fan, claim those nuggets,
because you haven't had a lot to be happy about.
But a 10-piece nuggets, sweet and sour sauce.
Positive.
Whiskey.
Give me about five-time minutes.
Bones started walking to Houston.
Yeah, he did.
Because of the hell.
He stopped.
He's not going to Mordor anymore.
He detour from.
He's back on.
He stopped.
No, he walks yesterday.
He was back yesterday.
First time in a week.
It's crazy.
I'm not here like two days of the week now, you know,
because Mondays and Fridays.
So just popping in here Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,
Thursday has been a fascinating experience for how the Thunderdome has been going, you know,
whenever we're gone on the weekends and into Monday.
I don't know if Bonn's doing much, you know, just, I bought back in here and I haven't seen
Bowden disappearing, you know what I mean?
Like, I don't know if that's been happening.
And I see Connor working out a lot by himself.
And I don't know, what are those things that are trolls are walking to more door?
Who, are you a lonely?
Hobbits.
You're like a lonely hobbit right now.
He's being back.
on the wagon yesterday. For a minute there, he was
face down and Elvis bread, if you will.
But he is now, he is now once again
back on the journey.
Well done, my friend. Well done.
If you will, AJ, if you will.
All right, well, I'm happy to see Bones back.
You guys haven't taken care of the place rather well.
And Bruce and Mick, good work back here.
Good work, lads.
Yesterday, starting away,
they did just with complete failure.
That's how you start a week.
Only up from there.
No panic out of Bruce.
No.
Could have been very panic riddled in that situation.
There was a little bit, but you know, you just can't really panic.
You've got to just keep going.
That's right.
Because guess what?
Just like the NFL, there's another game coming.
Yep.
And another one.
And another one.
And...
Another one.
Did you see him on the bike last night?
Oh, yeah.
Stanford Steve.
Look good.
That guy's the best.
The best.
Actually.
He was just roaming.
behind the New Orleans Saints.
Was it the Falcons?
Yeah, I think it was the Falcons.
He hears him last night waiting to go on set with SVP for late-night SportsCenter.
They do a great job.
He was getting after it.
He was just roaming behind the Falcons bench at one point.
We were standing there right before halftime, and Stanford Steve is out there with us,
and we start looking for him.
He's just walking down the sideline, just kind of aimless.
He's big smile on his face, walking around, comes back.
I just seen something.
I get so loud in there.
I finished my gatorade bottle.
He goes, you need me to throw it away?
He grabs it immediately, walks back.
I think he throws it into the Falcons trash can on the bench,
comes walking back.
I'm like, Steve, you're the fucking best.
One of the best rovers of all time.
Walking right through Nick Fulke, getting warmed up
in case they got to make a kick.
Yeah, Nick Fulke is warming up there.
Stay up, Steve.
I've got to get to the other side there.
He is the best.
Holding court on the sideline.
He got a good shot at him.
But he was a conction, an other guy.
Oh, those two have.
really become
thick as thieves.
Two peas in a pod.
Yeah, they really have,
which is good for ball, I think, as a whole.
But Stanford Steve,
seeing him as much as we've seen him now,
good person to see.
I've got to get to hoops.
Good seeing you guys.
All right, guys.
How about him with a fucking full press conference
last week at Iowa?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
I was dreaming of what this would be.
He's the best.
He loves ball, bro.
Yeah.
He fucking loves ball.
He did that entire soliloquy about
Iowa.
And you see him start to
break up about talking about the hospital and then he continues to talk and the thing that really
got him the thing that he broke on was looking at the team locked arms and arm and he said then he
break out and back in black playing it's just a team special man was probably it was like looking at
the lads just fucking ready to go in there is what actually got him is like the team aspect of it
started to break obviously talking about the kids and the special and how a magical moment but
whenever he visualized that team walking out
just arm and arm side by side
he just couldn't take it more. He's just so
in love with the
thought of football. And
he's perfect for the sport. He really
is. He's perfect for any environment
because he knows everybody.
Who sat down next to you the other day,
Gumbs, at walk-ons? Just the owner
to stand for Steve. Just the older just sat down
and walk-on said a fuck-up high school
beers. Steve goes, that's where
Robbie owns the place.
It's good.
Christ.
I could see the owner here.
How you doing?
Steve walks into another place where was it, Walwood, Deadwood?
Yeah.
Deadwood.
Deadwood at Iowa.
Imagine all the places around the country.
Yeah.
Stamper.
Oh, yeah.
And B. Thames said it.
Over years.
You don't want to saddle up next to Steve at the hotel lobby bar either.
He'll get you in the deep end there talking ball.
He's going to be in there talking ball.
We're going to have a lot.
Talking duo.
Yeah, she certainly is.
Hey, I heard we won.
Yeah, they did.
Yep.
Big win.
It sounds like Stanford Steve might have to, you know, fly out, maybe be the O.
or something. I don't know. Are they running duo out there?
or what? You know,
I don't know personnel-wise if they can really
handle all the stuff Steve was throwing at him.
But we'll see. Long season.
I didn't see one single note taken by
a head coach. Yeah, I mean,
he was pretty boozed up, so I don't know.
Who knows if he even remembers, you know,
talking about all that kind of stuff. What's the name
of the high school we're pulling for in Iowa? Columbus.
And we won.
A big win.
Maybe he needs to do that every Thursday night.
I think he might.
I think he might all right.
Does the other guy do basketball stuff in the office?
He had to go to the hoops.
Yeah, hoops, yeah.
He goes to practice right now, yeah.
But does he, like, report from the sidelines during basketball game day?
He plays.
Yeah, just goes to hoops games.
Hoops.
He plays for the teams.
Oh, that's pretty cool.
Got to get the hoops.
He's on a bench, Donner.
You stick around and watch some of these games late.
It's a blowout.
You'll fucking see him.
See him going in.
Checking it.
Can you imagine?
Hopefully he wears a headbear.
Ball, ball, ball, ball, ball.
On the block, on the block.
He's definitely playing great defense.
I'm guaranteeing they feed him.
I'm guaranteeing they feed him.
I'm guaranteeing they feed him.
He's the best, good energy, good vibes.
Football, the best is, uh...
He did not know he's going to be doing it for a minute and a half.
He thought that was definitely a 20-second or send to that break.
They just kept that thing going on.
Jay, still going, right?
He got up there, made some good picks.
Talked to Bijon.
talk to Brian Robinson
SVP changes the tie
there was some discussion by numerous
members of the panel last night on a Monday night countdown
how it felt pretty obvious that the Falcons
probably going to win this game felt pretty obvious
with how good they were
couldn't go against the 20 year
anniversary. Yeah, you could.
Could you imagine being the one?
Well, I guess J-Mac was he got the win.
Yeah, he needed it. But you walk, he did. Yeah, he did.
He said it openly too. He said,
I don't care what you guys are doing. I need a win.
I'm going with the Falcons.
Because I said the thing about game day that makes it so difficult is you get there and you feel like the energy of it.
And it feels special.
It's like, is there a chance his team can win?
If there's a chances team can win, I would like that to be what's probably going to happen, like when I'm making my picks.
I don't know which team I'm picking in the morning whenever I go over usually.
For Iowa, Ohio, staying out that there's no chance Iowa's going to win that game.
I thought there was to be quite frank.
Huh?
Me neither really, to be quite frank.
Yeah, and I don't think a lot.
of people did, but I had zero, I gave him a zero percent chance to win, which is why I picked
against him. But if I go out there and on the field, which is normally the games that we're at,
both teams can win, college football, anybody can win. If it feels like they can win and it feels
special, I'm like, let's go with that team. It felt special at Iowa on the field. I didn't
think there was a chance, especially because Ohio State had already lost. Like this weekend,
I'm eager to see what the vibes are. I'm very eager to see what the vibes are there, you know?
And people get, what am I supposed to do at the end there for the last pick?
Am I supposed to just fucking say, hey, this is the team I like her?
Yeah, that's what they brought you here for.
Just say this is what I like.
Rest in peace to the head gear, obviously.
That was an incredible thing.
Legendary.
It was legendary.
It was a great idea.
Oh, yeah.
It was an incredible concept.
And it could be paying homage, you know, to an icon every single week.
Could be, you know.
But instead, just, you know.
But instead, just microphone, fucking group people.
Go ahead and go.
Good luck out there, pal.
Got a minute 30 until the end of this.
All right, you got it.
Got a couple hundred people back there,
Chanford for you to take your shirt off.
All right.
Or are they just going to talk over what I'm saying?
Because I need them to listen a little bit.
You know, because what I'm going to say, need something.
So it's an interesting little predicament.
Lucky to be a part of it.
I do think the headgear could have been an homage to Lee Corso.
And also it's something that's very special to every single college campus.
but the decision was made for it not to happen.
So now I just got to get these fuckers right, you know?
Yeah, really.
That's what I'm going to do.
Yeah.
I just got to get them right.
Nobody gets them all right.
Have you ever been swayed?
I know you talk about environment players.
You ever been swayed by a coach interaction?
Oh, when they showed up on the set?
I'm just saying, yeah, either on the set, yeah.
Yes.
Yeah?
Yes.
Who was it?
Kalyn DeBoar showed up in his pin.
Oh, yeah.
Kind of sloppy.
SEC championship.
Oh, it's the other one.
Also, you said Sark this year. Remember you said how calm Sark was.
Yeah, Sark showed up whenever Ohio State went to Texas, showed up on the set.
I was going to Ohio State for sure. The North.
Yeah, right.
I think Undertaker, obviously, huge Texas fan.
He was expecting me to just immediately.
I get a message from a lot of Texas people that's like, I don't like what you're doing with those horns.
You need to fucking watch how you're doing this.
You know?
So I walk up to take in real life and I go like this is literally what I do.
don't you fucking don't you and I
oh and he goes don't you and then he gets
but I was going to pick Ohio State I was going to
do the entire thing what a start to the season too
first time I'm in Austin
I'm going for the north just kind of set in the precedent
on it all then Sark gets up there
I've never seen a more fucking relaxed guy
and it's like is there a chance
Texas can win in it yeah there certainly
is this place it's been a thousand
degrees they're packed out it feels like
it's going to be a special night I'm like you know
yeah fuck it all right I'll go with Texas let's
do it and they end up getting a huge
It was 120 to...
I think it was 160 degrees on the turf there.
Yeah, it was.
Something like that, yeah.
On that little area there,
probably 110, it felt like,
and they were just posted up the entire morning.
And Sark was feeling the way he was feeling.
It's like, yeah, I think Texas is going to win, actually.
Ole Miss, same thing.
I plan on picking against them
because I had LSU winning the National Championship.
And then I walk out there to the Grove for the first...
That's my first time I've ever seen it.
It's like, holy fuck.
This is a...
This is a real...
This is a real atmosphere.
Tonight's going to be.
And then you start talking to him.
And it's like, yeah, we need this one.
We need this one.
We need this one.
And then Golding comes on the show.
It's like, I like Golding.
I like Golding a lot.
I like these people a lot.
Yeah, fuck.
I think they are going to.
So I'm a lot of that as opposed to like, you know,
necessarily just having a decision on today on who's going to win Georgia.
I have a good lean, though.
Mm-hmm.
I have a good lean for this weekend.
Okay.
I have a good lean for this weekend.
I really like Keelan Russell.
Oh.
And on the flip side, I was going to say.
I really like Kirby Smart.
Yeah.
And what's that coming down the track, you know?
Nobody's really been talking about the mean machine in the red and black.
And there ain't nothing finer in the land than a drunk, drunk, obnoxious Georgia fan.
I think this weekend's a big celebration for Bama.
Sabin's coming back.
It's going to be a tough one.
It's a good ballgame.
Great good ball, man.
It's going to be a tough one to figure out.
We'll be doing a lot of vibes stuff.
I'm worried I'm going to be swayed early
because I think I'm watching Doc on Thursday night.
Yeah.
Yeah.
There's going to be a lot of Tuscaloosa, Bama, stuff in there.
It's almost like propaganda.
Savin ain't walking through that door.
Biggo.
You're upset with you, brother.
Guys.
I know, I know, I know.
I know.
But it's saving field.
Yeah.
What's that, Toad?
Where I like the board is just some piece of shit.
No, no, no, no, we're not.
No, we are not.
Good ball coach.
We watch them in next championship.
true. We like them.
We love him. We like killing them.
Talking about there's levels. There are
levels. What are you
saying? Sabin's on his own level. Yeah, saving
there's no one's ever done when he does. Yeah.
And DeBore knows he's walking on a saving field
every time he's on a level too.
Yeah. Exactly. Definitely.
Ooh, who is going to win? AJ early lean, Bama, Georgia.
I feel like your
early lean might be Georgia. That's what I'm
kind of getting from that. No, I feel like
I did the... My early lean is
Georgia, to be honest with you.
I feel like I did the high wire pretty good right there.
I feel like I did a pretty good highwire
of not giving it away, even though I know which way
I want to go right now.
It kind of reminds you those old matchups with Bama
had saving. They always, they had the better
team, but then it was like, so it's
kind of flipped. The other team was a good
team and had a mobile quarterback, and that's always
the great equalizer. So I feel like
that's the same way here. Like coaching
wise, even like
culture standard, all that shit right now, I would lean
Georgia, but that X
factor is a quarterback.
And home. Yeah, he can, so I mean, it's
tough, though. DeBoer 2 and 1 against
Kirby Smart lifetime. We like that
stadium, too. We've been in there.
It is. That place is sweet.
Real. And I think Miss Terry is a part
of their entire in-game process.
We're going to only learn more about that through the documentary.
Six or seven episode
docu-series on Sabo's... Oh and one night?
What do you think?
Wait, so I didn't
know it's a six-part thing.
Seven maybe.
I think the number...
Are they showing all of it?
They're showing the whole thing at once?
No, I don't know.
I'm going to a thing.
I don't think we're watching all...
Seven to four.
No, I think that's the plan is they're going to start at 8 p.m.
And you guys will wrap at about 4.30 in the morning.
And then...
Let's go.
That'll be sick.
I've never been a part of anything like that before.
So...
All right, cool.
I'll be ready.
For saving, I'll do it.
Right.
He's becoming a little bit more of a...
entertainer.
Oh, yeah.
He's starting to become a little bit more of an entertainer.
People getting real mad about him dabbling into TV a little bit.
If I was still coaching, I'd be trying to get this guy in the transfer portal.
Joke from Nick Saban.
All of a sudden, this piece of shit, this guy, it's like, ah, come on.
How about I would, I love this place.
I've had 16 out of 17 cigars by playing your ass.
This guy has no class.
This guy has no class.
It's like he's doing.
Sabin's getting really good at the TV.
Like really good at the TV.
TV, really comfortable.
And he's been working his ass off with the promotion of this documentary.
I think he's pretty pumped for this thing to get out and then to move on.
And just kind of see other...
I thought he went on.
I didn't get to see you.
He went on Theo Vaughn on his podcast.
I need to watch.
Theo, he went on with Mad Dog, which obviously, he's been on every show.
You know, he's been on every show.
And I think for the first time, long time, they just opened it up to media requests.
And then everybody that has ever had a media request sent it in.
And I think he just felt obligated.
Well, thank you for being...
you know, interested, all right?
And then all of a sudden it becomes,
hey, you got 16 of these things real quick.
And oh, yeah, Protect College Sports Act.
Let's talk about that for the first 15 minutes of this thing
that is happening right now.
It's not a part of your documentary,
but it's obviously a big part of your life
and legacy whenever it's all said and done.
So I'm pumped to watch this.
I'm pumped to see what we can learn about the man
who would go on to become the greatest of all time.
Stacked cast of characters doing confessionals
and sit-down interviews.
West Virginia boy has certainly done good.
And they got some inside-to-lockroom stuff that he didn't know they had, I guess.
Yeah.
And a lot of his players are like, oh, pumped for the world to hear that.
I wonder what Coach Saban thought whenever they were like,
hey, we got footage from inside the locker room whenever you decide to put two in over Jalen Hertz.
Really?
Yeah.
Who's the rap?
Who was it?
We also, you remember halftime when you said blah, blah, blah.
And he goes, yeah, we got video of that too.
And him just going, oh, no.
What other video do they have?
and I think that's a big part of this, the amount of transparency,
the amount of footage that has never been seen before that they haven't let out,
I think it's going to be a good one.
I think that's the best way to do a documentary.
Like, you know, you definitely want some say-so on what goes out about you,
but it won't be the real, it won't be as good of a documentary if you, you know,
you two hands-on and you tell, now I don't want that in there.
I'm not comfortable with that.
I think that's the point, like you want to see the highs, the lows, the good, the bad, the ugly.
So I'm definitely, because we really,
lived through that era. We saw it on the football field
where it felt like every year Bamma was
going to go undefeated winning national championship,
have a Hizeman at running back, and then you
kind of saw it evolved with
2-1 and Devante winning a
highism, so I'm very, very, and then him
stepping away, like, I'm very
intrigued on what's going to happen.
I wonder if they have any game day stuff in there.
Hmm.
I don't know. I don't know. Oh, you mean like him on
game day? Yeah. Because you've got to end
it, like towards the end or whatever, you've got to show, update
kind of what daily life looks like
You would think the person that owns the production company that did this, I assume he'll do good.
I don't know.
I assume they'll do a great job because the story's immaculate.
But I wonder which portions they do kind of focus on, you know, because obviously those creative decisions are certainly a part of the story.
Six or seven parts.
They should be able to cover a decent amount.
Yeah.
Is it all going to be out at once?
For me, if I'm not going to the premiere, how do I watch?
Hawaiianian episode.
What, you don't want to go to the premiere either?
Have you been in, you've been,
Has not been invited. I haven't been
not been invited. I went to most Terry has a big list.
Somebody answer, AJ. Is it going
to be released? Yes.
Every episode Thursday. Okay.
Okay. Okay.
Is it six or seven episodes?
Is each one an hour?
You're going to, you go out in seven hours?
Christ, pal. He didn't direct the thing. You think he knows all these
fucking information? God damn. Look it up.
I assume.
Figure it out. I think they're reporting it's six episodes.
I think he's good.
This is being reported.
What was the last day?
10.
10.
Brady's was 10.
Jerry's was very good, too, right?
Yes.
So we assume Sabins will be very good.
Yes.
I hope it's unedited.
Oh, no.
ESPN's six-part documentary series
to tell Sabins premieres on October 8th.
Release schedule airs weekly,
starting Thursday, October 8th through November 5th,
2006.
I'm also seeing...
Yeah, I got the dates of...
the episodes and the episode names.
All six are coming out on Thursday?
No. I am also seeing
on the AI thing like that, all six
episodes will be available to stream on the ESPN
app at the time of launch.
Yeah, I saw that. I heard that yesterday. Somebody
said that on a TV somewhere.
I don't know what's real and what's not. How about
that? A little bit of mystery here.
A little bit of mystery. Thursday, it starts.
Does it end?
We'll find out. We'll see.
What do we prefer, the weekly drops or just
been able to binge it? I like,
I'm a big weekly guy because I know I know that once a week I got a show to watch for an hour.
Need two of them though.
On the first drop?
I think you have to drop two each time.
I think I need to be able to watch more than one episode.
Because just personally, in the modern streaming era, I think a happy medium would be if you give us a couple episodes as opposed to all the episodes.
Because I think a lot of these streaming platforms, they put a lot of money into things.
and then they dominate for a day and a half
and everybody streams here and then never
watched again and it's like well we just
all we want is people come to our platform
they came to our platform and then they disappeared again
so I think there is going to be the rollout
shit still like the old days
but I think we need to be able to feel like we're streaming still
like I need to be able to get in the second episode
and fall asleep during it you know
go back to it yeah I didn't come back
I'd like all at once
now that I'm thinking about because
it's so many things to watch
when I actually get to, maybe on a flight or whatever it may be,
you want to, you know, sometimes you just want to,
oh shit, like, this is really good.
What's gonna, you know, usually live, leave off on the cliffhanger.
So I like kind of watching because, you know, two weeks down the line,
something completely different may have dropped out
or some other new show may have debuted or football.
See, like, it's so much shit going on, battling for your attention.
Just give it to me all.
Let me figure it out.
When I have time to watch three episodes, let me watch three episodes.
Yes.
That's me, first.
Me too.
It makes sense.
I need a least two.
I can't do just one.
I can't do what.
You want all six?
All of them I wants.
You're a big binger, though, right?
I will watch stuff for hours at a time for sure,
but I just like having the option.
Yeah, I like the freedom.
If it's one at a time,
it's a absolute cinema if it's once a week.
I mean, you're locked in a home.
It's a lot of attention each week that we're going to have to pay, you know?
Life on the edge.
I'm dangling my feet.
I tried to pay attention.
but attention paid me.
It's hard
to want to watch something every single week.
I'm just going to wait until it's all that, probably.
I think about it.
It might all be out on Thursday.
We don't know.
Is it going to be Thursday?
We've got Thursday night football fucking.
Bingo.
Yeah, but that game's going to suck.
We got the fun belt tonight, too.
What's that?
Fun belt tonight.
Who's playing?
We got Southern Miss catching 10 at Troy.
stand-alone game
Oh, fun bell Tuesday
No thanks
Taking on it
Party in the QSA
What are you getting so mad about over there by the way?
It feels like you've been a little bit upset
No, I was agree
Connor said no thanks
I agree with him I love football
I love football
I'm fucking piss off
I end up watching Southern Miss it Troy on a Tuesday
After baseball
Give me a fucking break, no way
Yeah but Ty's thinking after baseball is coming soon
With this Yankees team
Yeah but I'll still watch the playoffs
I'm just saying I
Dad's Brewers.
You're going to have to do a little bit more
in Southern Miss of Troy to get me to do that on Tuesday night.
Dodgers, Brave, 6 o'clock on TBS,
Brewers Padres, 930.
Who's pitching?
Yamamoto, Yamamoto, Chris Sale.
How about Brewers' Padres?
I don't know what to pick you.
Pivotta is going for the dads,
and then Dusty May is going for the Brewers.
Ooh, that's good pitching, right?
Pivotta has had a great career.
Dusty May got traded from the Cardinals,
I believe, mid-season to the Brewers.
he's pretty good. He's solid.
Not their ace. Obviously,
Ms. is their ace, and he's not their number two or three.
But, you know, he's solid. I would say they're going to try to get to the,
they want four innings out of dusty meat.
And they're going to try to let the bullpen kind of take over there.
I mean, we'll see.
They got it, they had a day off.
But the Mason Miller threw 40 pitches the other night.
So the brewers are at quite an advantage tonight.
Pivotta is a lunatic on the mouth.
What are you mean? He's jumping up in the corner of the strikeouts?
Oh, big game pitcher smacking himself in the head.
he's the man. Pitch for the Red Sox for a long time.
Okay, I'll responsibly gamble on a psycho up her.
And then Chris Sale, obviously.
What?
Brewers are tough.
Dusty May.
Brewers are a good ball team.
I don't know about Dusty May used to play for the Red Sox.
And he was terrible.
Bingo.
So you can see where.
Well, everyone who leads to the Red Sox is a pitcher's fucking unbelievable wherever they go.
What about Skipper Murphy, too?
Am I going to be?
Corset.
I mean, that should have won game won.
They should have fucking robbed.
So you keep calling the Padre?
dad's? Yeah. Is that what everybody
calls them? The daddre's?
Well, Padres is Spanish for Dad,
so. Oh, okay. You call him Fathers?
Could call him fathers.
San Diego Fathers.
I think Gumpch kind of got me on the Dads thing, to be honest.
I like that. The Canadians
have good lingo. Yeah, same with Doyer.
We have a hockey...
The Doers! Doeers are a gay team.
We have a hockey guy around us every single
Monday. Things have come
out of this guy's mouth.
Unfucking believable. Just never in.
There's a never-ending supply of phrases or descriptors
that you have never heard before.
Have heard each word individually,
never seen them pieced together the way
that this fucking guy's done it.
You've you seen John yet?
Oh, yeah.
Good conversation.
Last Monday?
His head just a full, I mean, this thing's an entire block.
Yeah.
And it's filled, I think, with just hockey and Canadian phrases at any time.
And then his hands, he's got heavy hands.
Heavy Mitz.
likes to play hockey a heavy way.
Yeah,
Denver's starting back up.
D.U., hockey team, national champs.
Yep.
They're starting back up here in the next week or so.
I believe they got B.C. here in two weeks.
I think they're playing the United States Academy
out of Michigan here this week or whatever it is.
And then they got B.C.
And then also Boston.
Alaska?
They open up to Alaska, maybe.
Eric Bridge.
Yeah, they got over there in Alaska.
We're going to be paying attention to college hockey this year
because fucking Big John's going to be around.
He was wearing these sketches.
He broke his.
fucking foot week one got to walk around in slippers thought i was gonna fix a broken foot dude these
shoes were the worst i've most absurd things i've ever guys have a broken foot for a month
yeah but i'm wearing shoes with some platforms on them now this guy was wearing slippers
walk around then when he's sitting in a chair with his shoe off he was unbelievable hell of a run for
big john yeah big john's really being and big john's been doing a lot of search into the internet
of things that are said you just go hey you really got a bank all worked up so we had to check
into this, obviously. It's like, thank you
so much, Big John, for doing that.
I appreciate you and Big Joe. Two polar
opposite human beings. Yeah.
Two polar opposite human beings, literally,
figuratively. Big John and Big Joe.
We appreciate the hell out of them.
AJ, wait to you meet these guys. Have you seen SpongeBob? They're calling
him Sponge Joe. Yeah, so he gave me a poster
board to bring in to the, to you guys,
to do the little media the other day.
Let's get to a break. We'll be back tomorrow.
Thank you.
You, that a babe, Bruce.
You're doing great, Bruce.
You are.
I'm really proud of you, Bruce.
The mic's, like Foxy really, with the mic and everything,
to cut to yourself and say something,
that might be the most impressed part.
But, yeah, I miss that you there if we want to get another.
You!
I was trying to get in there while he still had yourself on there,
trying to make you miss another one.
You admit have done great.
Gumpy and Nick, great job.
Graphic design, boys.
Way to go.
There you go, boys.
Where you go, boys.
Bone, let's get back on that troll.
Yeah.
Let's ride the moored door.
That's right.
Let's get after it a little bit.
I like what you're doing.
Conman, good for you, motivating a pal.
Just trying to help him.
Motivating a peer.
Life hack.
Boom.
Hashtag.
Mm-hmm.
Are you still doing that?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
You put ketchup on chicken nuggets.
They taste better.
Hashtag.
That's a good, D. Bone, life hack right there, AJ.
Make your life better.
AJ, appreciate you as well.
And we'll be back tomorrow.
Be your friend, tell your friend, something nice.
You might change your life.
We're in this thing together.
We're so lucky that we get to do this.
Team on me, team on three.
Tomorrow's a big day.
Huge.
Huge.
It's a big day.
Big strikes.
We got a show it.
One, two, three, team.
Goodbye.
