Hello, beautiful people, and welcome to our humble boat.
The Drap Kings Thunderd Oak on this Watt Wednesday, October 14, 2006.
This sports program begins now.
Football!
It's spectacular, and we are on NFL Week 6 Eve Wednesday here.
October 14th, 2006.
The days are flying by.
The football is spectacular, and a whole new round of storyline starts tomorrow tonight.
Saturday morning we cannot wait to get out to Provo for college game day.
It's first time in 17 years that game day has gone to BYU.
I'm pumped for BYU to showcase how awesome their student section is.
I'm pumped to experience that campus.
Now I have been reading some rules of the campus.
I believe I will be staying off campus for a lot of different reasons.
And there was a time at BYU where he couldn't have caffeine on campus.
They have stopped that since 2017.
and we have a Celsius energy stage.
I'm actually pretty excited to see the dynamic
of the students in our show and the interactions,
and I think the amount of pride that that place has for that place.
I think everybody that is associated with them
has offered up to come back for however we need.
Very excited for who the guest picker is.
We will be announcing that tomorrow.
I think the entire BYU world is going to show up,
and then the Catholics are just coming in undefeated
as 10.5 point favorites.
They haven't played anybody.
They haven't played anybody.
Well, I think they're going into a tough atmosphere with a lot of eyes on them,
playing a very difficult.
Kalani Sataki squad, who's going to start with the Haka and end with CJ Carr,
cementing himself as one of the guys?
Or with Bear Bachmire and BYU having an upset that maybe changes the course of this entire
2026 college football season.
Now, changing the course of things might happen over the next few days.
We'll have Pete Famo on in about an hour from now.
It feels like the 2014 playoff.
is cooking. It was like the 2014
playoff is cooking for college
football for a lot of different reasons.
Pat 40 is reporting out of the SEC
basketball media days that Greg Sankey
signaled what is widely expected. The league
to open a 2014
playoff if the SEC scheduling expectations
are met nationally and that a decision
should come sooner rather
than later. Sankey and the SEC
and Petiti in the Big Ten
have a lot of power in what happens
going forward for the football aspect.
Now, the Protect College Sports, both
Petiti and Sankey were the last ones to come on board and say, we're good with the Protect
College Sports Act. Without them, would have never happened. Now the Protect College Sports
Act has all the commissioners of every conference, every AD, every president, every
everybody's there. There's detractors to that. I'm sure they'll battle it out to see what happens,
but for the football side of things, college football playoff, there's people in charge of
that that can make actual changes. If Sankey and Petiti aren't on board, they have no chance
of getting it passed. Petiti had been very open about wanting a 2014 playoff. Now, a lot of
have talked about why would you want that? Especially when Ohio
Michigan is one of the biggest games of the year. Why would you
want to maybe get rid of the importance of one of your regular season games
for a 2014 playoff whenever you can have one, two, three lawsuits, you know, and it just
becomes a much deluded product is how some people think. Well, I think what a lot of people
are realizing is the amount of money that is being invested into these teams by schools
and by NIL. There's a lot more parity in the college football. We've been talking about
that for a while. But there's also has to be some hope. If you lose a game early or you lose
two games early in the first two months of the season, you have a $30 million roster,
and then you have no hope to make the playoffs at the end of that, that could really collapse
a lot of things that are happening and obviously ruin what is seemingly a very good thing
happening in a lot of different places as they're building with the booster. So hope needs to be
a thing. Return on investment needs to be a thing is what they're thinking. But also, we think
that this is the people that won the 2014 playoff. We think if you give people a little bit more
reprieve in each week, they'll schedule harder games.
They'll have bigger matchups.
They won't be playing against a D2 school for three weeks
and then playing their conference games
and then playing absolutely nobody
because everybody's scared to get a loss.
So they go ahead and pack that with terrible games at the beginning
because why would you want a hard game?
If you have a loss, you have another loss in your conference play,
all of a sudden you're out of this thing
and now you've got to kick for the next season.
So there's a lot of reasons why people have wanted it.
There's been a lot of reasons traditionalists
and college football people that say 12 is too much.
We have blowouts in the first round of 12.
What is 24?
to prove it's just going to make everything worse and the regular season games aren't going to
matter. So Sanky, I think, was pretty open about not wanting to go to 24. Believe it or not,
I think the ESPN executives are pretty open about not wanting it to go to 24, even though everybody
thinks that ESPN is the one driving this. There's a college football playoff committee that's doing that.
ESPN does not sit on that committee, although they do invest a lot of money into college football.
They don't have the say in it. So Sanky coming out and saying there's an openness to going to 24 is a
huge deal. This is a very big deal
for the process of the 24
team playoff happening.
He has been somebody, I think, that is
very much about the SEC,
but also very much about
the sport, not just football.
He's the commissioner of all the sports, and he'll
tell you all the national championships and all the different
sports that the SEC has every single year.
You see gymnastics? How about baseball? Do you see softball?
Did you see this? I'm like, well, you don't have hockey.
He was going to go get D.U.
He was going to go get Denver University, potentially represent
the SEC, see if they could win a
national championship in hockey. Said that in just, but that is how he actually believes.
He has been hesitant on this while the others have kind of pushed. His members, according to
source, says close to the situation, have been a little bit more open to the concept here recently.
They would just like to have a conversation about what's happening with the SEC Championship.
What's happening with the championship games? The SEC Championship has become a massive deal.
I mean, that has become a rating machine. Obviously down in the South, a big deal to have the
SEC Championship. So what's going to happen with that? What's going to happen with the scheduling?
And also our other conferences are going to be have as many conference games as we have because the
SEC has nine conference games plus one. Other conferences have eight conference games. So you can
obviously schedule the different side. So if there is an agreement, I think, for everybody to have
hard games, the same amount of big games, same amount of hard games. And if we can figure out what's
going on with the championship game weekend, which I think is figure outable, it feels like the 24 game
our team playoff is coming.
Feels like that is going to take place.
There's going to be people pissed off.
There's going to be people incredibly pumped.
There's going to be coaches excited
because they're going to get people off their ass
because their team's going to make the playoff
whenever they probably shouldn't have made the playoffs.
But I think inevitably we're going to see some blowouts
in their first round.
But nonetheless, college footballs get bigger games,
more meaningful games.
Who will have the rights to those games?
That's the next conversation
that's going to take place as well.
Business always follows up with decisions
that are made for the field.
We assume all will go well
because college football is up into the right.
in a huge way.
Hopefully this will only continue that.
Pete Tham will join us in about an hour for that.
We got JJ Watt joining us here in a few minutes
and joining us live into Thunderdome
is a 12-year NFL veteran,
Super Bowl champion player and coach,
Manit goes in the trenches,
and has a daughter right now,
has multiple kids,
but has a daughter right now
who might be on her way
to lead in the United States of America women's national team.
Thank you, H.
Akewish Shepley is here.
Hey, Q's Shepley's.
Penn State would not be making a 12th.
40-18 play.
No, not this year. Okay, right now.
We've already punted it to next year.
But I do think Penn State's a big part of this story,
because now it's coming out like,
is Pat Kraft, Athletic Director,
going to be able to continue to get the money
if they continue to not have the success
because that's a big part of this.
Everybody's talking about, you know,
coaches want to have hope.
It's also the boosters and the alumni
that are giving the money for these things
that want to continue to have hope.
Because if they cut that off, you're in trouble.
Oh, big trouble.
And like Signetti comes Indiana.
The first year,
he was here, I don't think he got anywhere near
the amount of money that a lot of other schools at the top of it.
Nowhere near it, but he had success.
So the alumni and the boosters were like,
hey, here's something that we are okay with getting
zero return on our interest.
Because this isn't like an investment where
you get money back. We are getting zero
return on our investment, other
than watching our alumni, our school that
we love, have success. So keeping
that happening, I think there does have to be
a little bit of hope and expectation.
Penn State might be the focal point of that conversation
actually with how it's going right now.
We saw with Texas Tech, right?
I mean, they were a team that was not very good.
All of a sudden, they'd dump a bunch of money in,
and you can go from kind of last to first overnight, right?
I think that's where we're at right now with college football.
So I think they have to show that they're going to continue to fight.
You can't just roll over and lose the next day of games.
You've got to fight.
You've got to win some games.
You've got to steal some games.
And this is a perfect weekend, right?
Go into Michigan and beat a Michigan team that I know isn't very good, but great tradition.
And if you can go in and at least steal a win there, maybe it tells the fan base,
hey, let's go. Let's dump some more money in.
But I think firings of coaches have happened because they're the people that are giving a lot of money to build the roster and the team who don't have actual say, but certainly have power to remove something very important or say, hey, we're not supporting this anymore, if this is going to be what this is.
And that sucks that that's the world that we're in, that people that don't, might not know a lot about, I'm not saying every booster or alumni doesn't know about ball.
Because Cody Campbell down there in Texas Tech is an NFL offense alignment.
They build in the trenches too, by the way.
That's right.
Feels like they're probably going to do well, and you love them.
that's probably why you pointed them out, as opposed to everybody else.
But a lot of these money people can pick and choose if they want to give you millions of dollars or not.
Absolutely.
That is a real conundrum happening in right now.
Everybody's talking about there's the haves and have-nots.
The haves can become the have-nots just if they decide not to.
Quickly.
If the boosters and alums decide not to do that.
So crazy time.
2014 playoff, I think, puts a lot more people at ease.
But there's going to be a lot of people pissed about the dilution of the regular season games
and then the championship weekend.
Talks to it was here at Boston, at Ty Schmidt.
Big Ten championship game here in Indianapolis.
We obviously go to it.
We love it. We have a good time.
Iowa's made it there a couple of times.
The future that might be in question, but let's leave that out.
How do you feel about a 2014 playoff for college football?
And what do you think most Big Ten people think?
Because Petiti was a big driver for this.
Allegedly Petiti wouldn't sign on for the Protect College Sports thing
unless there was an automatic that it was going to 24, allegedly.
So he's been a big driver behind.
behind it. It seems like it's inevitable now.
Yeah, I don't mind it because like you said, I mean, I think you're kind of naive if you
were holding out hope. Like, hey, this is never going to happen. We kind of have the perfect
system. Like right way, I mean, it's like with the NFL and adding another game, like right
when we kind of bucked from the previous trend and they went to the 12 team playoff.
Like it was pretty evident with how much money this whole thing makes. Like they're going
to kind of keep going and add to this. I don't think people in the big title mind too much
because I think the biggest gripe with what it is right now is we have these power five teams
that get in and realistically, like, they have, they don't really have a shot of winning.
I think if you get a couple teams in the Big Ten who maybe had like a nine and three season,
like that could be in any given Saturday type thing where it's like you could see a power
conference Big Ten team who maybe had a couple slipups against good competition.
They could go beat anybody.
And as like an Iowa fan, a team that's kind of habitually on the outside, like just on the
precipice of making the 12 team playoff, like I kind of love it.
And I think also, like you're talking about it, I think it maybe does add a little bit of stability because you kind of have to reframe what you view is successful now.
You know, if teams are, if, you know, yeah, you want to win a national championship every year.
But if you have a coach who goes nine and three in back-to-back years at like a blue blood and you make the playoffs both years, like, are you still going to fire that guy and pay out $70 million and have a massive roster overhaul?
Like you would think maybe we will have a little bit more stability around college football because,
you know, institutions won't be as quick to fire coaches.
So I don't mind it.
We're going to have blowouts regardless.
So, you know, what's the difference between 12 and 24?
We're going to get the same four best teams at the end, you would think.
Let's head to Hammer.
Dodd Todd.
Tone, what is the other thought about these regular season games not meaning as much if you have 24 teams?
Because you can have a loss.
You can have three losses, maybe, and still sneak into the top 24 in the CFP's eyes.
So what's the regular season?
if we, if the game, so nothing matters anymore, tone?
Is that what's being said basically?
Listen, yeah, is it diluted for sure?
Like, because, you know, in the BCS era, it's two teams in national championship.
You lose one game.
You're potentially out of that.
Then if you go from there to the, you know, the 12th, the 14 playoff, the 12th team
playoff, yes, the regular season gets diluted every single year, but it's not to a point
where the regular season doesn't matter at all.
I mean, all these games are still going to matter.
Yes, you kind of, you talked about the Ohio State, Michigan, like the last game of the year, that rivalry weekend.
Maybe something needs to be changed with rivalry weekend because, yeah, you can have an undefeated Ohio State team.
But when I talked to AJ, and he still says, like, I said, like, what matters now for Ohio State fans at this point?
And he said, one beating Michigan and two winning a national championship.
Like, yes, you're still going to be in the playoffs if you lose that game to Michigan, but it still means a ton to the fan base.
and a lot of these teams that, you know, play rivalry games later in the year,
it's still going to mean a ton of that fan base just for bragging rates and stuff like that.
Will it affect the playoffs as much?
Maybe, you know, there's going to be maybe more rounds on campus and stuff like that,
which is a huge deal for these schools.
So, yeah, it'll dilute with regular season some,
but not to a point where people are going to stop watching college football.
I can tell you that.
Yeah, the NFL has losses every weekend of teams and people are still watching.
Yeah.
You know, and I know college football fans aren't necessarily all NFL fans,
and they say college football is different.
I agree.
It certainly is.
with everything on the line, every single weekend,
the pageantry, the anxiety.
I still think the quality of play and the quality of entertainment
will still draw, even if there is a two-loss,
three-loss team going in the weekend to play to get into the playoffs.
I mean, then there's going to be games at the end of the season
where it's to get into the playoffs as well.
It's going to happen.
We're just going to have to enjoy.
But the old college football heads are not going to like it.
And I hear from them a lot, you know,
because I get chance to be the youngest guy on college game day.
So there is certainly a little bit of a give and take with that entire generation, I would say.
But college football is excellent.
It's going to continue to be great, and we're pumped about that.
2014 playoff.
I don't know if I love it or hate it.
I guess we'll have to experience it first.
We'll talk to Pete in the next hour.
Away from college football, let's pivot to the NFL, nine-year NFL vet.
Darius J. Butler is here.
Shout out, Yukon on the hat and the helmet.
Not Duquesne, although you would pull for them if they were playing against me.
My boy, Lee Bot.
It's my old Jew and I came to the league.
Okay, I like Lee Bot and Duquesne and made to the NFL.
Yep.
I like that.
Just like John Simmons.
John Simmons made to the NFL
as Dukane as well.
Shout out, yep.
Rest in peace.
John Simmons.
Yeah, he was all over field.
He would kick off.
You need them to.
Chrisa Coots is in the league from Duke.
Yeah, shout out.
Chris & Coots.
He's alive.
Yeah, John, his past.
Chris and Cochukes still alive.
Shout out to Duques.
NFL, though, this weekend.
Massive matchups across the board.
What are you looking for, D.
I mean, big games, obviously starting with tomorrow,
Seattle and Denver.
Number one, looking at those jersey.
Sick, Jersey combos.
But then the big question.
marks around the Denver Broncos. They were almost the AFC representatives in the Super Bowl, got
to the AFC championship, and it's just been struggled so far with that offense. The defense is
going to be fine. But Sean Payton taking over play calling, I'm sure AQ could talk to him more, but it
did not look great. Bowdo Nix doesn't look like himself. And then to Seattle Seahawks,
your new squad. I mean, are they, some people are saying maybe one hit wonders, maybe Sam
Donald, maybe you're looking for answers there. So looking for a great start to the NFL week.
And we got other matchups.
We got Bill's Raiders.
We got Cowboys Packers.
Great matchups this week.
Yeah, a huge ball across the board.
Every game matters, except for a couple of teams that are 0 and 5.
You talk about this past weekend being fantastic and kicking off in a great way.
We actually have the incredible honor to be announcing the players of the week.
Oh, wow.
Ladies you gentlemen, coming out of week five of the NFL season, here are your AMC and NFC players of the week.
Corlis Whiteman, Punter.
What a stud.
Congratulations down there for the bucks.
Byron Merrim.
Hell yeah, course.
Way to go, Byr and getting that.
Jamir Gibbs' Stallion.
I'm assuming he has a lot of these.
Greg Russo, there's some stats coming out about him.
Not only is he blocking kicks.
I guess he's pressures, his pressures, he is very dominant.
He gets player of the week.
David Bailey, Texas Tech, we were just talking about.
Rookie gets a dominating performance.
The Jets have the same amount of wins as Los Angeles Rams right now.
Wow.
Something to think about.
And then Jaylen Warren of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
A couple chains on, great tattoo.
and incredibly explosive whenever he gets the rock.
Congratulations to these lads.
On winning players of the week in a locker room that will be celebrated.
Joining us now is a man who's on the call for Jalen Warren
and his performance to win the AFC offensive player of the week.
His brother was also experiencing a birthday on that particular game day.
And he was playing against his donked rival to Indianapolis Colts.
He somehow remained averagely biased until the Steelers continue to kick the Colts ass.
Joining us now a man who's in the Bullring of Honor for the Houston Texans.
and now he's also in the Houston Sports Hall of Fame.
Wow.
Ladies and gentlemen, JJ Wall.
Jayh!
How you doing, guys?
Great. How are you guys doing?
Good, man. We just broke down the entire 2014 playoff,
then we bounced into the NFL about what's about to come.
Then we did the players of the week.
Feels like we've accomplished a lot in 17 minutes,
but you joining us really puts a pep in her step.
Isn't that right, AQ?
Absolutely. Couldn't wait to get him on the show.
Let's go, JJ.
Come on, bring the juice.
How's the juice now that JJ's face has kind of popped up
on a screen. I mean, it's a game changer, and you mentioned
his face, but he also has a sweet Pat Tillman
shirt on right now. I mean, it is kind of
the...
Oh, Jay.
Wow. Yeah. Yeah, Jay.
I'm doing great. How are you doing?
Houston Sports Hall of Famer? Congratulations.
That was last night, I believe.
Well, earned, well deserved.
I don't know where this burst
of energy, excitement, and love and passion
is coming from, but I'm loving it.
I wasn't necessarily there
when I popped on. Now I'm there,
and I hope everybody watching this
at home or on the elliptical or on a treadmill is now there with us because we're about to
take you on a magical little ride on this Wednesday afternoon. Get it going, America.
Yeah, not just America or international. And I think, how could you not be juiced up whenever you're
talking about? Didn't know that. Love that. Let's go, world. Hop on board.
Yeah, whole world. If you could do a couple different languages that you speak so they can understand
in their native. No, astronauts, let's go.
Oh, in space.
Yeah, especially Houston. Yeah, especially down here in Houston. I mean,
Beam that shit up, right to NASA.
Yeah, let's do that.
Man, we're having a good Wednesday.
Wow, yeah.
Yes.
Last night, you went into the Houston Sports Hall of Fame.
Did you give a full speech?
You guys looked amazing.
You and the bride and the entire family celebrating down there.
How long did you know this was going to be happening for?
And what was it like to get honored by a city that you have called home and have done a lot for, brother?
Thank you.
I appreciate it.
My wife looked incredible.
I'm very grateful to have her on my arm to make us look good as a family.
so that was a very big plus.
But it's a big honor.
I mean, it was with Billy Wagner,
obviously phenomenal pitcher for the Astros Hall of Famer himself.
And Brian Ching, who is a Dynamo legend.
He scored four goals in the first ever game for the Dynamo,
which is incredible.
I also had a phenomenal lay.
He's Hawaiian, and his mother was there and made him a custom lay.
So that was great.
But a good event.
So many great people in the city of Houston,
so many memories here.
And there's just a whole lot of love for this incredible city
and everything they've done for me and my family
and the bond that we formed.
They surprised me with a bunch of the kids
that I've been able to meet over the years
from Peter Barry and Aaron Berry,
who lost their parents my very first year in Houston
and I got to meet with them,
and they came out on stage and Justin,
a little boy who had an art issue and Will.
They had all these kids.
It was pretty special, man.
It was a pretty special night.
You were crying, yeah?
Yeah.
When they brought the kids out,
Because like, I've known these kids since they were little, little kids.
And so I've seen them literally grow up throughout the course of my career.
And so when they all came out on stage and I just kind of, they put up the videos of when I first met them.
And then I see them on stage as grownups today and who they are.
Yeah, yeah, it got me.
You're a good guy, James.
You're a good guy, Jake.
Thanks for representing Ballwell.
Thanks for representing the league well.
And last night, I'm happy you got to experience all of those emotions as you've
walk down a path with the Houston Texans
when they were good at football, you know?
But are they? Easy now.
Are they, though? I'm going to find out.
Hey, hey, we've got a
chance now. Jaguars are a very good
football team. Head over to London. We'll
see what this game looks like, but you get on
a little bit of a roll here. You never know.
Got Marvin Harrison in the mix now.
You don't know. How do you feel about the trade
for Marvin Harrison, Jr.? He and C.J. Stroud
did a lot of magic together in college, hoping
to replicate that with the Texans. It feels
like there's always injuries to the offensive.
weapons for the Houston Texans. So adding another one, probably good news.
At the record you guys had to make this trade, I think was interesting. I don't think anybody
really saw it happening. Your thoughts actually on the trade happening, especially with where
the Houston Texans are right now. Yeah, I mean, they've had injuries at the receiver
position. They've been banged up there and they've tried to find it. And obviously Marvin hasn't
started his career the way that he wanted to in Arizona. And the hope and the goal would be
that you find that magic once again
and it's just a change of scenery back with CJ,
whatever it may be, that gets him to the level.
If you get him to, you know, 60, 70% of what you expect
from the number four overall pick,
you're sitting in a really good spot.
So I agree with you on the record
and where you sit right now,
but I think there's an opportunity there
to really do something special.
They just have to go on a run very, very, very quickly.
And I hope that he turns into the player
that we all saw from Ohio State
and can expect him to be.
Yeah, it didn't get going
in Arizona at all.
I mean, there wasn't really any.
A lot of the tape
we've seen coming out of training camp was him not doing good
yet again with the floor, and then he started
getting hot, caught a couple touchdowns, started moving
a little bit, then he moved on from him.
I don't think LeFloor was ever attached
to Marvin Harrison, Jr. He made that pretty evident.
Hopefully he finds a home in Houston.
Now, Houston is in a tough
division. Jacksonville Jaguars, to your point,
might be the best team in all ball.
And then the Indianapolis Colts, we're looking to find it.
We've got two wins in the last 12.
One of those 12 was against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.
Can you tell me about being on the call for that game
and then watching the Pittsburgh Steelers play what,
their best ball that they've played in decades, maybe, in Pittsburgh against the Colts?
Yeah, no, I was on the call for this exact game last year.
And you go into this game and you try and look at it ahead of time
and think to yourself, okay, how does each team,
go about finding a way to win. And there's no question with the Indianapolis Colts. It all starts
with Jonathan Taylor. Last year, he was limited to 45 yards in this game. This year, he was
limited to exactly 45 yards again. So the Pittsburgh Steelers very clearly understood that we need
to bottle up Jonathan Taylor. Now, how did they do it? A lot of the outside zone plays, it's all about
setting an edge and building a wall. And they set a great edge so that he couldn't get outside, and they
built a wall inside to really bottle him up, and he wasn't able to get going. And if Jonathan Taylor's
not able to get going, then you can't really open up that play action game too much.
And they don't have the downfield threat without Alec Pierce right now to take the top off
of a defense and to give Daniel Jones some of those deep in cutters or those go balls.
So that is a tough combination.
Without that and without Jonathan Taylor having the type of day that he's used to having,
it's always going to be difficult, especially when the Pittsburgh Steelers' offense
is finally starting to find a bit of its rhythm.
And Jalen Warren is the belkout that needs to lead that offense.
I said it all game long.
during the game, post-game,
Jalen Warren needs 20-plus
touches every single game minimum.
Make him your belkow.
Use him in a similar way
that the Colts use, Jonathan Taylor,
hand him the rock.
He gets better over the course of a game
with more touches.
That is the man that needs to carry
that offense where they want to go.
According to source
says inside the building
in training camp
during running back,
linebacker one-on-ones.
I guess is when a certain new coach to the Pittsburgh Steelers fell in love with Jalen Warren.
They said he will put his face directly into a fan.
Does not care.
Absolute dog.
Then you heard Aaron Rogers talk about him in the post game.
He's like, best teammate.
This guy is the best teammate.
And it makes me wonder how come he hasn't been utilized like this in years past?
Because it did feel like even since Najee Harris was on the Pittsburgh Steelers, which is what, four years ago, Hammer, died, tad.
How long ago was that?
whenever we started falling in love with Jalen Warren, Tone.
That was, so I looked at tweets.
It was like 2023, 2020.
Yeah, about 2023 was when we started being like, hey,
Jaylon Warren, he's got a lot more touches.
Every time he touched the ball, it was like fire.
And we know the Steelers' offense for a long time was just,
punt.
It was shite for a long time, but their defense was keeping in it.
Then they make it play late, and they still had winning seasons.
But every time he touched the ball, it looked like he was on.
a different level than everybody else.
Happy they're weaponizing him and happy that Aaron Rogers looks very young.
When you talk to him pregame for the lead up to the game,
what did it feel like?
Because after the game, the interview he gave,
feels like he is the happiest, most free,
and very pumped about what this Steelers team can be.
I got, like, Aaron's moving pretty well.
You watch him out there and like he is moving around pretty well.
He's getting out of the pocket.
He's actually scrambling for some yards.
It's against Cleveland.
the five sacks, which obviously wasn't a good night, but if you look at the totality of his
film and some of the movements that he's been able to make this year, you can tell that he is
feeling pretty good. We talked to him before the Patriots game earlier this year, and he told
us how week one, prior to week one last year, he tweaked his back squatting, which is, that's
funny in its own right. Why is a 42-year-old, you know, quarterback squatting, but I respect the hell
out of it. We got that fixed. But that's why he didn't feel that good moving around last year,
and he said he feels a whole lot better this year.
And I think you can tell.
Also, they got the ball out of his hands incredibly quickly this game.
I'm talking unbelievably quickly.
A lot of short, quick, efficient passes, screens and things.
He loves Jeremy Bernard.
Jeremy Bernard's doing a great job for them.
Would imagine that's only going to continue
because Aaron has a lot of trust and faith in him.
Yeah, the Steelers look great.
They look vastly different than just a few weeks back.
AQ has the last question on this game for you.
As we move on quickly, as the Colts lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend.
Yeah, JJ, as you were preparing for this game, right?
Was it as simple as just switching out two offensive linemen on the right side
and all of a sudden this offense found what they were looking for to move forward?
I mean, it certainly looks good.
Now, there's been their bumps.
There's no question.
Ihanshore on the right side.
It has had a couple bumps in the road here.
But overall, he's continued to fight and get better throughout it.
Hoffman's doing a good job at the right guard spot.
But yeah, I mean, it does look better.
If you look at the totality since they made that switch, it absolutely does look better so far.
And you would imagine the young bucket right tackle is only going to get better.
The more reps he gets.
Mike McCarthy talks about 5-0 linemen need time to build that chemistry.
You know better than anybody AQ.
The more chemistry and glue that they build together, the better it'll be.
Offensive coach, too.
Mike McCarthy is making different decisions than they would have made in the past.
There was a field goal or go-for it decision that was made by Mike McCarthy that completely changes that game.
as opposed to what it could have been in the past.
Not that Mike Tomlin wasn't a great coach.
Winning, all he did was win as a head coach
is the Super Bowl champion.
I do not want a discount,
but two very different styles being implemented
to the Pittsburgh Steelers at this.
On the Colts, I love watching DeForest Buckner play, man.
I absolutely love DeForest Buckner.
He's the man.
He was great in our meetings this week.
He told us how he was literally talking to his wife
about retirement and he said to her one day,
I think I'm gonna hang it up.
And then she talked to him about it
and he came out of it.
and just decided to just attack rehab one day at a time
and see how it goes.
And the guy is playing fantastic football.
Knock if you buck, dude.
Yeah.
We are such a better football team when he's playing.
Get him out of it.
Then when he's not playing.
Like last year he didn't play.
He was hurt.
We're two and ten in our last 12.
Yeah.
Okay.
So you can know that is the fact.
I'm worried that Buckner's just going to be on a team that's never going to win the AAC South here in Indianapolis.
No, we're second place right now.
You're right.
A lot of season left.
A lot of ball left.
What are you guys up next?
Who are you guys going on next?
We have the Titans, bro.
Adam Venetieri's going into the Ring of Honor.
Let's have a celebration this weekend.
Now.
Can't.
Yeah.
Cannot.
Under any circumstances.
Under no circumstances.
Can you lose that game?
Kicker.
Great.
Great kicker.
At a big day.
Unbelievable.
Spencer Schrader is so good.
I've talked about him a couple different times now this week because it's a great story.
Little Blake Groupie came in for Spencer Schrader last year
when Spencer Schrader broke his entire shit during the game.
Spencer Schrader was perfect.
We found our guy.
We found our kicker.
He's from Indiana.
He grew up a Colts fan.
He's got a big leg.
He's a great kicker.
And then he just breaks his shit.
And I actually see him in the locker room afterwards.
And it's like, he's got that full thing.
And it's like, man, this guy's never going to be able to make it back.
I'm worried that we're going to get into a kicking carousel.
We bring in a little Blake Groupie out of Notre Dame.
This guy had been around a little bit, got injured.
He was flawless for us.
This guy was perfect for us.
Spencer Schrader back in training camp.
Little Blake Groupie back.
they're battling in training camp.
Blake Groupie making everything.
Spencer Schrader's still trying to find his way,
missing a couple.
Gets into games, makes his kicks.
And then I think the decision was made like he got injured,
can't lose your spot because of injury.
We have to give him a go.
He's continued to be perfect.
And now little Blake Groupies with the Rams,
they got a great kicker over there.
So Schrader's been through some shit here early too,
JJ is what I'm saying.
It's not just really good.
Yeah.
He's at the battle.
It's very impressive.
Very impressive.
Now, there was some game management decisions
around kicking that happened this weekend.
And it wasn't just kicking decisions.
Also, what the hell's going on decisions?
DeBott has a question for you,
Jay.
Now, I've been in the booth.
You've got to add, obviously, some contact for listeners in these situations.
You've got two rookie head coaches,
so you might have some in this upcoming week.
But what's been your thoughts overall with the league
in these late-game game management situation?
We saw the Eagles, which is more of a coverage thing, in my opinion,
but that commander's like, what's your thoughts overall right now
with the NFL in these late-game game management situations?
I think that we're in like a bit of this new world with analytics and everybody being able to dissect everything on such a deep level.
Now there's some game management decisions that are obvious no-brainers.
We've got one on the screen right now.
That that just cannot happen in any circumstance whatsoever.
But there are some other ones where people are loving to go on to the internet the next morning or even the night of and just pick apart things that, yes, you can pick apart and you can say that that might be the best decision.
but if they did that and went the other way,
now all of a sudden we're having a completely different conversation.
The one I'll use as an example is Monday night.
You have Joe Brady, who decides to kick the field goal there with two minutes left or whatever it is,
and people on the internet are saying, well, he should have ran the clock down.
Why wouldn't you run the clock down in that situation?
Well, okay, so let's say he goes to run the clock down.
James Cook's already fumbled twice.
You're not going to put it in his hands.
You're going to go with most likely a quarterback sneak with Josh Allen.
Let's just say that somehow, some way a ball gets kicked or something.
something happens and it fumbles.
And now the Rams have the ball.
All of a sudden, you're the biggest idiot on the planet.
But everyone, the next day, if you don't do that, is going to say, why wouldn't you run
off the extra clock?
Like, at some point here, it's damned if you do, damned if you don't.
And yes, there are certain situations where there's no question, the numbers and everything
else lines up.
But there are just so many Monday morning quarterbacks now that can literally make an argument
or find a decision for everything as to why it was the wrong one.
And it's just a weird place to be.
especially for somebody who's up in the booth now trying to explain everything every week to people.
And I'm sitting like, I put myself in my shoe in those shoes for that game.
If I'm in the booth, do you want me to say he should probably run some extra clock down here?
Or do you want me to be excited?
The guy just won the game with a field goal.
Like it's a really weird spot to be in as an announcer trying to talk people through all the possibilities
without also bogging them down with the minutia of it.
Yeah, in the minutiae, we have more people that know it or think they know it
because there's more stats and analytics available to everyone.
everybody. And you know, there's obvious situations that point out people that
understand the reality of football versus in theory football on the internet.
I think we all can see that, especially ball numbers can see that.
Now, they do have a large community, especially whenever they come together and
make themselves feel as if they're right. So I don't think you should ever try to,
you know, fight against that stuff. But we appreciate you.
Explain the reality of ball, James. Now, the reality.
Like this one was interesting. Like this one to me was a more clear cut one because I had
just had that real game. The Ravens seven seconds left, but they had a timeout left. So when you
kick it into the end zone and they have a time out left, then it's completely different. Here,
you kick it in the end zone. Eight seconds is not enough time to do anything with zero time out.
So that's a more clear cut one. It's just these ones where like, do you waste clock, do you not
waste clock? Or they do their, I'm like, all right, some of these, like, let's just, let's just calm
down. Also, you don't realize, like, I don't think anybody realizes what it's like to be on a
sideline, like for the coaches, making those decisions in that real time with the amount
of people relaying information.
It's chaos down there.
As you can see.
Got to get it right.
Got to get it right.
And if it works out for you, you're a genius.
And if it doesn't, you got a lot of people in theory on the internet saying, well,
theory is reality, brother.
And what you just did is absolute bullshit.
That's why the game's the best.
And we got bigger audience than ever.
And we got more different styles of people coming in.
And those people being combative about them knowing more than people that played,
sick.
I do appreciate that.
like the energy.
But if all these things work,
it's a non-conversation.
That's it.
Yeah.
If it works,
you're a genius.
Which is sports,
which is sports as a whole.
Yeah.
It's fun.
Did you see the frozen Gen Z frenzy last night?
Did you see that with hockey?
No.
Thought you're a hockey guy.
Come on,
I thought you.
I saw you.
I saw you.
Oh,
yeah.
I thought at least you'd have it out on your phone
while they were celebrating you
for the Hall of Fame down there in Houston.
and it was just a frozen frenzy turned into the frozen Gen Z frenzy.
Goals by Gen Z, which is 14 to 29-year-olds.
I don't think there's any 14, 15, 16 or 17-year-olds in the NHL,
but hey, maybe they did sneak one by to goalie, if you will.
71 of the 112 goals yesterday.
All 32 teams played 16 winners, 16 losers in storylines in abundance,
including it does feel like it might be a little bit of a young man's game.
Don't get a twisted, though.
Sidney Crosby scores two goals.
Brady Cachuck has three goals.
Yeah, and an apple.
Matthew Kachuk has five assists, three of them to his brother.
I mean, there was storylines and stars out.
Young League, though, it feels like.
So good time to become massive fan of hockey.
Who's your team, Jage, in the NHL?
If they ever bring a team to Houston, that'll be it.
I've said this many times before.
I grew up in Wisconsin.
I didn't know what a fair weather fan was.
I started with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Went to the Red Wings.
It was a Chris Chelios guy.
So big.
Big fan, but I don't have a, like, team that I follow.
Love the NHL, love hockey, played it all growing up,
one of the best sports of all time.
Do think that we can help ourselves a little bit marketing-wise,
that the guys would give a little personality,
but that also makes them who they are,
and that's the beauty of it.
So I think that there's some real absolute stars.
Obviously, Crosby is one of the greatest in the history of the game.
Bingo.
Love hockey.
Okay, there is talks of,
bigger.
There is talks of Houston expansion, I believe,
because, what are you?
Fourth largest city, fifth largest city in America?
What is you?
Four. Fourth largest city in America.
A lot of sports fans.
I mean, you just talked about Houston Dynamo.
I forgot they were a team.
One of the oldest MLS teams in the entire league,
which obviously...
Comits are coming back in the WMBA.
We've got the comments coming back.
Hell yeah.
Okay.
Nice.
So Houston, big city...
I would like an NHL team in Indianapolis, personally,
but I think Indianapolis would be able to.
What?
What?
I didn't say anything.
Wayno got his start here.
This is where Wayne Gretzky first played professional hockey.
And Moose.
Yeah, and Mark Messier.
You ever heard of him?
I mean, we had Gordy Howe down here at the arrows.
That was a hundred years ago.
He just did like a Harlem Globetrotters tore down there.
Wayne started here.
Yeah, you ever heard of Wayne?
He did not start there.
He did not start.
Yes, he did.
He started professionally there.
He started on a pond.
He started in the backyard.
Okay, yeah.
Obviously, at the Gretzky household is where,
You don't want to go back to the beginning?
Thank you, Mrs. Gretzky.
That's where it started.
Okay, that's where I said.
And you want to go way back to the beginning.
Thank you to Mr. Gretzky.
Yeah.
I guess we're sending them in there.
Now, on that note, he got his professional start right here in Indianapolis.
The NHL is looking to start the expansion process in Texas with Austin and Houston.
As potential targets, Emily Kaplan told us on Tuesday, on a Tuesday.
Let's get back to the NFL chatter.
on Monday night, I was lucky to be there. Go ahead, Ty.
Yeah, Jay, Jage, incredible game.
Arguably, maybe the game of the season so far,
especially with some of the duds we've had on Mondays.
Looking at that, and a big talking point post game,
and, you know, kind of early in this week, like,
do you think the bills can sustain what Josh Allen is doing?
Like, can they win a Super Bowl,
kind of just putting everything on his shoulders and saying,
hey, listen, we need you to kind of go out there and be Superman,
week in and week out, can't really make mistakes.
Defense isn't the best, although they weren't terrible.
But like, is this a sustainable way for a team to win a Super Bowl?
I mean, when he plays at that level, absolutely.
It's able to play at that level for a very long time and take the beating,
which obviously he's done for the majority of his career.
So there's no reason not to.
I do think the defense needs to play better.
They know that.
Jim Leonard himself said it.
He had one of my favorite quotes this week where I believe he said,
it's always great to have Superman as a quarterback,
but we don't want to wait until it's our turn to save the day on defense.
They do need to play a little bit better on defense, obviously,
but there was some crazy stat where, like, when the bills give up over 35 points,
they're like 8 and 0, and everybody else in history is like 19 and 13 and 132 or something.
And that's just what Josh Allen does.
We have all the superlatives and everything, and people are like, oh, but he is, he's unbelievable.
And when he puts it on his back and has 120 washing yards, like he only threw the ball 19 times,
it was he literally was just running over people.
He doesn't slide.
He just directly through defenders downfield.
It's impressive to watch,
and I'm looking forward to seeing this weekend against the Raiders
to see what they can do.
How many times you get to play against Josh Allen?
I don't know the number.
I know we had a few good battles
and the playoff one in Houston
where we were able to come back.
Got a nice sack to spark that one.
That was fun.
He's a hell of a player, man.
He's a hell of a player.
Sorry, all I really remember
was when I changed the entire game
and we wanted to play us against him. Yeah, a great guy.
Great guy. Maybe he'll be, maybe he'll
be in the Houston Ring of Honor someday. Maybe. Maybe
that'll work out for him. But we didn't
think, we talked mightily
about having to face him.
He can shake your ass. He got Lamb Man
not that Lamb Man didn't get a couple
on his side. He's a phenomenal football player. It's fun to watch
Landman, and he's hitting his head off of helmets
before the game. He has everything you want
him to be as a linebacker.
But like Josh Allen can shake the shit out of you.
He's faster than he can jump over you. And then he
will choose to bull rush you as well.
On the defense aside, in a matter
of seconds, you have to make all those decisions.
And then he's back up, we're running hurry up.
He's coming right back at you again. Joe Brady
will run the same shit 50 times straight
if he thinks that it's working.
Feels like a natural relationship between Joe and
Josh. But the system quarterback
convo we were having before we got on air,
can it win the Super Bowl? Can backyard football players
win the Super Bowl at the quarterback position?
Yesterday we got into it a little bit.
Before the show we got into it.
It's not that much backyard football.
I mean, they have James Cook.
Yes, he's got fumbling issues right now,
but James Cook is a dominant running back.
Like, this offense is not 100% squarely on, Josh.
The fumbles are a problem,
but James Cook is phenomenal.
Agreed, completely.
But he is a backyard freestyle football player.
So we wondered, can you win a Super Bowl like that?
Can you win a Super Bowl?
So we started thinking about it.
Well, I guess Mahomes would be considered
at Times backyard football player.
He won a few.
But whenever you think about system quarterback, you think Tom Brady, he's running a system.
Peyton, he's running a system.
Eli, he's running a system.
Drew Breeze, he's in the system.
You think about when people talk about Caleb Williams, they're like,
the Chicago Bears will be good if Caleb plays within Ben Johnson's system.
Jalen Hertz, in the system was playing, although he could extend plays.
He wasn't like a freestyle.
Like Josh Allen is a, I think there is a system.
There's obviously a play call, but he's a freestyle type quarterback.
It's very apparent, and he can take over at any given moment.
Patrick Mahomes, I think, is maybe the most successful, considered that style of quarterback.
But when you look at it, I mean, he is playing for Andy Reid, who's going to go down,
is probably one of the best play callers ever.
So he does play within the system, but it's just, it's certain times where he does improv.
He'll extend the play.
He'll get out.
So, yeah, he would, but obviously he will be the guy.
He's the greatest of his generation.
But I wouldn't necessarily, I don't think people will call him a system quarterback,
but he's played within that system.
And then that's what you want, ideally.
You want a quarterback that plays within a system,
whatever system that is,
and then it'll be a handful of plays
where they have to be special.
They have to do something outside of the box.
But what people say, like, you don't want to,
you know, he only threw the ball 19 times,
but he dropped back to throw it maybe around 30,
and he just tucked it and ran it.
And that's a nightmare for a defense.
To start with JJ Watts up front,
they got to have, you know, discipline rush lanes
so they can't really pin their ears back.
And then for us, we could be perfect coverage,
perfect drop,
So it's tough.
You definitely want a quarterback that can do both,
but I think ideally systems with great players win championships.
It blew my mind that entire night as we watched that game
that they never put a spy on them.
That blew my mind.
And I know it puts the DBs, right, at a disadvantage.
I get that.
But like, and again, like Landman was kind of in position a couple of times,
so I'm not even sure that would have worked,
but at least put somebody in there to kind of spy.
They just rushed four.
And the problem is, and JJ, you know this, right?
with Aaron Donald the way he rushes.
He just kind of can do his own thing.
He can take the inside rush,
and you kind of have to read off of him.
And there was numerous times
where he takes the inside rush,
the nose loops around,
Josh goes left, right between him,
and then out the gate.
And I think you have to have a lot of trust.
Sorry, last thing on this entire combo
before you let you, Jage,
give your explanation,
which I think is going to probably rewrite
how this conversation has gone into Thunderdome,
so I appreciate that.
But I think everybody that has success
in this style has an incredibly high football IQ,
like Patrick Mahomes, his extension of plays when he does, he knows when and where and how to do it.
Russell Wilson, when he was with the Seahawks, I think you would consider him as a potential freestyle
because what he was able to do with his legs whenever plays break down was outrageous.
They still had that system, though, where he was dropping dots.
Josh Allen, he has to be making full game decisions every single play on what he's doing,
and then he's taking like 30 hits every single time as well, which I think everybody's scared of.
Go ahead, Jade. Sorry about that cutting you off.
Yeah, no, no, you're good.
So I think this is all brilliant conversation.
And I think that part of the thing that you have to do as a defensive guy,
we'll get into this obviously in depth on Sunday during the game when we have them against the Raiders,
but is how do you try and stop this most efficiently?
And obviously not many people have had success.
And I think one of the most obvious things for a fan to say is the spy thing.
And I think you're absolutely right in that AQ in that,
why wouldn't you just put somebody over the ball spying Josh Allen and say, hey, you're responsible for him?
Well, the problem with that is, is when you're going to spy somebody,
You have to stand a couple yards behind the defensive line, obviously so that you can see him.
But then also, if he goes left or right, you have to be able to go either way.
Well, the problem with that is, is once Josh Allen decides he's going to scramble and get going,
he's got ahead of steam.
He's coming directly at you, and you're basically flat foot at that moment trying to make a decision on which way he's going to go.
And he has the whole field to use once he breaks through that line.
So it's extremely difficult to make an open field tackle on Josh Allen while he knows where he's going and you don't.
and he has all that space.
So you're, in my opinion, almost wasting a defender by putting a spy on him because it's so hard to tackle him.
So what I think is the best way to do it, which is extremely difficult and you have to have a very good defensive line,
is a four-man rush, kind of like we talked about with the Rams,
but that four-man rush has to fully and completely understand that they are responsible for Josh.
And you do have to rush completely differently when that is the case.
Because you need the guys in coverage because he's too good of a quarterback,
and he will pick you apart on the back and if you don't.
So you drop your seven, you have your four guys rush and you communicate.
You four are responsible for that one man.
You can't let them around the edges.
You can't let him up the B gaps.
You either have to do bull rushes, you have to run games.
But no matter what, we are disciplined.
We are rushing to the level of the quarterback and we are coming back down.
Much, much easier said than done.
But that's what you have to do and how discipline you have to be to be a guy like that.
It's fun to watch.
Yeah.
It is so much fun.
And we've said this about Lamar,
how electrifying he is.
If this was to be able to get to the Super Bowl,
like if Lamar was able to get to the Super Bowl,
or Josh Allen was able to get to the Super Bowl,
there's somebody in some country watching football for the first time.
That's just like, what is this thing here?
He could take over the game at any time,
and nobody knows it.
It's almost like the way they're talking about B-Flow's defense,
where B-Flo doesn't even know what coverage the secondary is.
Because the secondary is deciding that in real-time.
It's like Josh Allen's deciding in real-time what every single play is,
and now he can spin it just as good as anybody else.
Fun.
That's also kind of difference, too, once you get into the playoff part,
because right now we're in, you know, it's week to week.
You get in there Wednesday.
You've got a whole new game plan for it.
Once you get the playoffs, you get these great coaches,
probably the best coaches in the league,
and they have an actual, like, a plan.
Okay, this is a Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson plan.
And going into Buffalo with their lineup,
who's healthy to wide receivers,
that's probably the weakness of that offense.
So look, Keon Coleman, DJ, like, these guys got to beat me.
We got to figure out how to stop, how we're going to have eyes.
And it may be just situation.
May just be third down, third and median, maybe red area.
But these are the particular plays we're going to take 17 away.
And we got to make.
And that's why I think over time you always see like systems win
and players within those systems because they have answers for so many different things.
I think teams that are used to playing him, just like when tomorrow was playing the NFC,
teams that are used to playing them, I think have a much better shot at him.
Like the Patriots just beat the bills two weeks ago.
Yes, give them pro.
Like people that are, yeah, totally.
Lamar. Exactly. If you're used to playing them, I think you take all your wounds and your lumps.
Because on film, it can look one way. And then in real life, yeah, right. So I think division
game's always going to be tough for backyard style football players because they're used to it.
But once you get into the playoffs and you've got a lot of teams that haven't played you before,
there's a chance you can go. But there's also a chance that a D coordinator says what JJ said.
Listen, you four, you're four number ones. Okay. You guys need to make sure this guy, this freak doesn't
beat us. And in the big games
and the playoffs, much more difficult
competition, which is why the conversation is,
can you win with this, though? You know who thinks they
can? AQ. Shipley.
AQ's big takeaway is he's
all in on Allen, Jake.
That's Akew's his takeaway.
Is that because he makes the offensive line's job
a lot easier, or why are you all in
on Allen? Well, I think part of it was what JJ
just talked about. Whenever you rush four,
you have to have rush lane integrity.
But the problem is, and like JJ said, okay,
cool, we got a bull rush, but there's a couple
clips, like even this one right here where Josiah Stewart, right? He's coming off the edge,
bull rushing Dionne Duck. It doesn't matter. He still's able to escape and run for 10. There's
numerous plays where Aaron Donald swims inside. You get the nose looping around. Oh, we think
the nose is going to come free. He shifts left, shifts right? Landman's going to make a play.
Nope, can't happen, right? So I think there's so many things. And then also, at the end of the
game, when he decides to take a peek out to the left, they call a run play that's going to get
handed off to the right. He sees a peek out to the left that, oh, they're in man coverage. Nope,
I'm just going to pull this and boot around.
He can take over the game at any moment.
And then, oh, by the way, you don't need to tush push.
If you get in third and short or if you get in goal line,
he's always going to get you the first down,
whether it's over the top or whether it's falling forward.
But that play right there was unbelievable.
He takes a peak pre-snap, sees it.
Aaron Donald comes Scott-free up to B-gap,
and he's just too fast to outrun him to the corner.
Yeah, Josh Allen, AQ, Shaw-in on Allen.
Can he stay healthy?
He's always going to be banged up.
Bold take there.
Bold take.
Wow.
I think four or two.
Well, there was somebody this week that said, well, Josh Allen's got to do something different.
Swagoo thinks they're not going to survive.
Marty, that was like Swagoo's opening line.
I did not expect it to be the opening line.
But as he was talking, I'm like, man, we don't really talk about that with Josh Allen ever.
He's never been hurt, has he?
Yeah, yeah.
It was a couple of seasons ago where he kind of broke a second and a half of the season.
Broke a finger, but he didn't miss games.
I mean, he always has like a couple of those little things throughout the year, but never actually misses anything.
He's banged up always.
Yeah.
Like, what's he got?
He's got, like, five broken fingers.
His knee hurts.
His ankle hurts.
And it's just kind of like expected.
So it's like whenever the games matter the most and he's super banged up.
I think Swaggers question was a good one.
Like, can he win a super?
Can Josh Allen win a Super Bowl?
That's the only conversation for the rest of his career.
Him, Lamar, Joe Burrow.
Like, you know, we expect him to be MVP candidate.
Daniel Jones?
Sure.
Sure.
I mean, he's on an MVP watch list right now.
But those guys, once the conversation comes up about him,
that's all that matters.
Can they win the Super?
Because Josh Allen has all the playoff wins records
and all the quarterback stats without a Super Bowl,
and you never want to be on that list.
So that will be the question.
And yeah,
I feel like for me,
once I saw kind of Cam Newton's body breakdown,
it's like, okay, no quarterback.
Is that list just quarterbacks?
I'm sorry.
No, Jem is on there.
You know, it's a quarterback award, JJ, you know.
Where is Ken Walker?
Yeah, not on there.
Mahomes is.
Where is Ken Walker?
So Mahomes is plus 650.
I think what they're saying is if the chiefs remain good,
Patrick Mahom's going to get that.
Running back's not going to get that.
And I would like to say I'm a Mahomes supporter.
I would assume Patrick Mahomes will come out very loudly for Kenneth Walker
down the stretch on how much he has done for their team this year.
But you're right.
He's changed them completely, Jage.
Yeah.
I mean, I get it like odds and how it's going to shake out by the end of the season.
But you want to talk about like this gets into the whole debate of most valuable
player versus best player, et cetera.
Yeah, you're in time.
That's your gimmick, actually.
But I mean, but what Ken Walker has done this year
and the way that he's helped transform that offense is spectacular.
For him to not even be on that list,
if that list truly goes up to plus 5,000
and then you added your guy at the end there?
No, so Kenneth Walker is plus 5,500.
I don't know how he didn't make this list.
There's also numerous other people seemingly between plus 5,000
and Daniel Jones there.
Really?
I don't know how they got left on.
Is Dan Jones still that plus 15,000?
It might be worse.
Let's check it.
Let's scroll down here.
500,000.
$20,000.
$20,000.
Good up.
Good up.
He's in there.
There are odds for Kenneth Walker
to win the MVP.
I mean, we just want to let you know
what Daniel Jones is in case you want to go ahead and sprinkle
down. Oh, Jordan Love plus $500.
Jordan Love has his
best football game. Brock Purdy was odds on
favor to win the MVP going into Monday night.
We wake up on Tuesday. Josh Allen
now the odds on fair to be the MVP.
These are very fluid odds
as the season continues, a lot of football left.
We talked about Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow.
All anybody wants Daniel Jones, all anybody wants to know is can he win a Super Bowl or not?
Can you win a Super Bowl or not?
There's a quarterback that none of us expect to win a Super Bowl who is a Super Bowl champion
who had a phenomenal battle with the NFC West this weekend.
Go ahead, Connor.
Yeah, Jage 49ers Seahawks.
They kind of had the late game steal-the-show type of situation with the 32-29 victory of the 49ers
got in Seattle.
Were you able to see any of that game?
You see the ending? A lot of us kind of confused.
We thought the ball could go out of bounds to where it lands.
Instead, Cooper Cup ball goes out right before the first downline,
and then it ends up being out of bounds.
Kind of a weird situation.
What did you think about this game, this division seemingly being the best in all the NFL,
the reason the Rams are just two and three with the super team?
What are kind of your thoughts with this?
Yes, I thankfully was able to watch this on the flight home from Pittsburgh.
Shout out Starlink.
That was fantastic.
The ending was insane.
I mean, all of it.
Just everything that went on with this game,
especially the fourth quarter.
The NFC West is such a blast to watch
because of the minds that they have in that,
because of the players that they have
and the battles that they go through.
But this specific play,
so this is interesting because obviously before the season,
we have all these conversations about what the rest can have,
what they don't have, what angles we have,
what we don't.
During the season, I watch the officiating videos every week,
so I know exactly what's going on at all times.
Before the season, they told us this.
thing, which was interesting to me, that on punts, when the punt crosses out of bounds, the officials
actually have a thing on their watch where they can tell exactly where it went out of bounds based
off of, I don't know, the chip in the ball, crossing the line. I think it has to be completely clear,
no obstructions with the players or et cetera. So that's why it works on a punt, and I'm assuming
not on this situation. But I do feel, just like I'm sure everybody else does, that at some point,
even if we can't get in the middle of the field with quarterback sneaks, the sidelines,
There has to be some way, shape, or form that we can use the Hawkeye technology from tennis.
And baseball is telling me exactly the spin rate and what pitch a guy is throwing the second it happens.
There's got to be some way that we can get where this ball went across out of bounds when he was diving.
Because between that.
Jay, you knew that?
I felt so stupid.
I thought the line extended forever like a touchdown.
I did not know.
And I am very open about me not knowing stuff.
and when I learn stuff, I adjust accordingly.
I think you have to do that in daily sports talk.
I think that is just a lifestyle.
You should do that.
Once you learn things, you should change.
I did not know that it was where the ball goes out of bounds over the line.
Because when you make a catch and your feet are in bounds,
and the ball's out of bounds, it's, I don't, I didn't know that.
This has been a big discussion all week because they're like,
well, what if you're running down the sideline and the ball crosses over,
but your feet are in bounds?
That's fine.
I'm not going to sit here and pretend like I know the reasoning behind it all,
but I do know that when you're diving out of bounds,
you do have to try and get it across before.
I don't fully understand the differences between each of them.
But yeah, it's pretty crazy.
I didn't know that.
Like, as it was happening, I was watching it,
and I'm like, he clearly got his feeder in.
What do we even move it along?
They're like, because there's other things where the first downline does extend
all the way to the end.
So like a intentional grounding,
If a quarterback gets outside the pocket and he throws it away, my understanding is that the line does extend all the way.
So as long as he gets it past that first down marker, even if it's behind the bench, he's fine.
There are clearly times where the line extends and the line doesn't.
That's a Gene Stereator.
That's why I got a little button.
All I got to do is, hey, Gene, what's the rule here?
And then it's out of my hand.
I wish I could do that with Gene Sterethor with my life.
Just everything.
You know what I mean?
Hey, Gene, I got a question about this landscape and I got going to it.
Gene will have an answer.
You know?
I do it with football games all the time.
Any game on a, like,
a Thursday night or a Monday night,
I'll just text Gene just like I'm in the booth.
And I'll just text me right back.
I haven't tried other points of life.
I should.
Gene.
Are we allowed to do?
Should I go with the canoli or should I go with a chocolate chip cookie?
Which one?
Canola.
You know the answer.
Yeah.
You know the answer.
I'm not a big canoian guy.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
But you're asking Gene Stereator?
He's a dying guy.
You're asking Gene Stereato?
for his response?
Oh, he's going to say canoli.
Definitely.
Hey, shi through Gobel or Shite through Bologna?
You know, he's going to say Gobel
every time, even if he would like baloney
because he feels obligated to do it.
He's a Pittsburgh guy.
He said he wished he was in town
because he was going to make me some family recipes.
He wasn't there this past weekend.
I would love to see what the Sterator family's tossing on the table.
Gene Sterator is a Western Pennsylvania Pison legend icon.
I'm a huge fan of his.
We love Gene Sterator.
We like that he loves Reffin, too.
I believe his brother,
his dad,
his son.
Comes from a family of refs,
coach basketball,
or ref,
basketball,
ref football,
whatever you need him to do.
And I like how calm
and confident he always was
when he had that one shot.
He sounded like he knew
what the hell he was talking about
as opposed to some of those rest.
It,
we think it's a,
what number is it?
Take the one shot off me.
Please, please, please, please, please, please.
Leave the microphone on.
Who is it on?
Who's it on?
Can't have it.
Just can't have you bumble and fumble,
going around like yet.
Did we notice any difference between the way the coaches and players are talking to the
refs this weekend?
No.
No, not really.
We shouldn't.
Didn't see any situations, at least.
No flags.
Because I was worried about, we were all very worried about it.
Very.
We're all very worried about that with the whole variable thing.
Mm-hmm.
Then the whole.
The Aaron Glenn thing was phenomenal with the, dude.
That was the best.
Hey, you know you were wrong.
Hey, I got some for you.
It was so good.
Same amount of wins as the Los Angeles Rams, New York Jets.
Jets fans aren't going to see it like that.
They still see themselves as under 500 and, you know, we need to rebuild.
But what Aaron Glenn is sticking to it over there, and he's still himself, it feels like.
Remember, we've seen some coaches who had great mocks to go in the New York Jets facility and lose their souls.
Yeah.
Completely.
Just this is not who this person was whenever he got here.
Aaron Glenn's still, you know, he's still everything that Aaron Glenn was when he was at Detroit.
Will the team continue to win?
We shall see good for them.
Hey, Jage, who wins the Super Bowl here?
It is Watt Wednesday, October 14, 2006.
J.J. Watt thinks that the...
What are you doing to me here, Pat?
What do you want me to do here?
I'm a comment here.
Now, you're going to set me up for the rest of the season.
Everybody's going to say, I just said Wednesday,
Wednesday, October 14th, 2006.
This will change Wednesday, October 21st.
You got to beat the champs to be the champs.
Go with the Seahawks.
All right.
I like that.
Hey, I appreciate it.
value right now yeah get in on that it's not bad value a plus 11 hundred follow my advice on anything
besides food okay what should we have for dinner or night you should have uh good quality homemade
cheeseburgers really homemade cheese that just sounds like a really nice knife for a cheeseburger
needs to be a soft bun but you need to get it on a little butter toss it on the grill get a
tiny bit of char on there so it softens up a tiny crunch with it has are have your own
toppings, whatever you like on top, but I need a nice 80-20 lean ground meat. Get that sucker
nice and tight. Get the grill hot. Toppings. My dad's a smash burger guy. I'm more of like a
traditional burger guy. My dad makes the best smash burgers ever. I love a good smash burger.
But they do leave you feeling a little fatty, a little oily. I like a traditional.
A little more of like a kind of a five guys type, I would say. Okay, we got cheese on
Both sides of the burger, one burger, how many burgers?
No, no.
Just, I do one thicker burger, piece of cheese on top,
and then you got your toppings in your bun,
and I'll do at least two of those.
Well, I do two all beef patty special sauce slash cheese.
Sure.
Okay, but something like a Heinz 57, French fried potatoes,
big kosher and a cold damn beer.
Now, good God almighty, what do we have here?
What do you put on top of your burger?
I put on top of my burger, ketchup, mustard, onion, tomato, and then, no, I leave lettuce off.
I don't mess with lettuce because I don't like shredded lettuce.
I don't like shredded lettuce.
I don't like shredded.
And I also don't want the one piece of lettuce that when I bite it and then it flops out.
I don't need that.
Dragantly.
Don't need that.
Yeah.
Yeah, see, I take the tomato off because of what you just said.
I don't like the thing coming all over me.
Yeah.
And I don't think it tastes good enough.
I got the ketchup here.
Heinz.
ketchup on here to get rid of that tomato.
Chilled shredded lettuce, though, you're
saying no to? Wow.
Holy hot. Sread it? I don't like to thread it.
I don't like to shred it. Oh, dude.
You got to catch up on here.
Okay? Then you... Are you a mayonnaise guy?
Are you a fancy sauce guy? That's what was right
here, yeah. Poboese. That's a mayonnaise
on top there. Then guess what you do?
We got a little cube onion,
diced onions.
Two, too, to do, too, to do on there.
Just like the quarter pounder with cheese at McDonald's.
Then, as you have a little
bit of mayo and ketchup, peeking up through
those little diced onions or chopped onions.
Then he go ahead and put that shredded lettuce because now
it's sticking to this stuff. Okay, now you got it.
Then he go ahead and put jalapini
of chips right on top of that thing.
Then you put your bun on there
and then he... And then
we're having a good time. We got a good
texture in there with the chip. We got a nice
chill shredded lettuce. Obviously
the ketchup and mayonnaise are defined
and then the onion adds a little flavor and then that
meat's going to hit your mouth.
Like a freight train. You went with a grown-up,
fifth grader meal there.
The chips, the jalapeno chips
is an elevated version of a
middle school meal with
like the ham and cheese where he tossed
the ruffles right on top. I asked you
listen, I will take a bag
of fritos and I
will put salsa and cheese
in there. If we don't do middle school meals
especially on the taco. Yeah,
if we need to do that, I will do middle school
meals and I had cinnamon toast crunch last night.
Can we say this? Maybe
this is a drink. Maybe this is a
hot take,
don't like Fritos.
I think.
The chili twist,
Frito's?
The chili twist,
the hot chili twist,
phenomenal.
Don't like a regular Frito.
Are you a chip guy or not a chip guy?
Because I really only like chips
on sandwiches and on burgers,
not really reaching for chips
in the day-to-day.
No, I mean,
I don't reach for me in the day-to-day,
but I am specific about them.
I'm a big shout-out to Canada.
All-Dressed.
Have you ever had an all-dressed chip?
Where's it from?
Canada?
No.
They also have ketchup chips up there, which I actually shockingly am a fan of.
They're not bad.
But I do love a traditional standard ruffle dipped into a French onion dip deans.
That's a traditional staple with hot ham and rolls up in Wisconsin.
And then obviously kettle cooked is when you get that crunch, you get one of those that's doubled.
You get two and one and it's like this.
And you.
Yeah.
Yeah, I like that.
Keep cod chips.
All right, well, I can't wait to have...
Like a sea salt and vinegar.
Like a salt and vinegar, that's a new...
Rangor.
I'll have, I will have a sea salt and vinegar if I see it.
Don't see it often.
You know what I'm into right now?
What's your flavor? What's your top flavor?
Halapeno.
I like jalapeno.
Halapeno is great.
That's a tough find.
Are you like a Miss Vicki's?
I like a Miss Vicki's.
Oh, Hingo.
That is the, I think that's the winner.
And let's go over to, like, candy as we have 40 seconds left here before a hard out.
I am on a Snickers run right now like you've never seen.
Oh, yeah.
Still bringing it.
If I see it, it's going.
I mean, some of these planes would get on, they got six of them.
That's the task.
That's the task.
We've got an hour-long flight.
I don't know how I'm going to make them all disappear.
I do.
I used to be with Reese's.
Now it's Snickers.
This is my first time ever experiencing the Snickers run.
I'm hungry.
I'm grabbing one.
Why wait?
I'm not.
Snickers is a downhill duo run play.
That is a call it and haul it, standard right up the alley.
Well said.
That's right.
So are you, brother.
Every time you show up, it's magic.
We appreciate you.
It's JJ Watt.
We're back on the other side.
Be a friend, tell him friends something nice.
Oh, we need a little.
Neared it on.
Football!
He is magical.
It felt like there was a couple different start times,
but that's because we like to keep him guessing.
Now, a 12-year NFL veteran Super Bowl champion.
AQ.
Shipley is here.
Good to see you, Ake.
In the first hour, his AQ takeaway is that he's all in on Allen playing however
Josh Allen wants to play.
The big question is, can his body and his style
survive in play in a Super Bowl to win it?
That's what anybody's going to ask for the rest of time until Josh does it,
just like they do with Lamar,
just like they're going to do with Joey Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals
with how they've operated,
and just like how they're going to do with Daniel Jones and Indianapolis Colts.
Now, C.J. Stroud also going to get question like that until he does it,
if he does it, if you're a Super Bowl.
And if you're a quarterback that doesn't, you're forever judged by.
You still make the Hall of Fame, shot Damarino.
Yeah.
Yins are legend.
But it's held over his head, just like Philip Rivers,
held over his head.
Philip Rivers was a starting quarterback in the NFL for 100 years,
has so many records, has so many good times.
Can't tell the story of football without Phil Rivers,
and then you get somebody who just says, yeah, cool.
All right, dude, how many Super Bowls he win?
It's all anybody cares about.
Josh and Lamar, it's going to be the topic of conversation for them
until they retire.
Or until they win multiple.
Josh Allen might go and win six Super Bowls.
Lamar Jackson might win 10 Super Bowls.
We have no idea what's going to happen,
especially this NFL season.
although it does feel like there has been some great
that have separated themselves. Anything can happen.
I hope it doesn't.
But all you are is one injury away
from your team collapsing
and one new strategy or scheme away
from winning it all.
That's why football is the greatest.
12-year NFL veteran Super Bowl champion AQ Shipley.
Is this the best season of football that you've ever seen before?
It's the best season yet.
Michael McQuade in Ireland said that was going to be the case.
Thank you to him for doing that.
He was just a year ahead of time.
He said that about last season.
Turns out it's about this season.
NFL vet, Yukon Husky legend.
Darius J. Butler, do you think McQaeda was right about this
best season yet that we're having?
When is McQaeda not right? Of course he was
right. Well, he met up some lies I think about some stuff.
No, no, we checked them all out. They were
all fact-checked and... Oh yeah,
they were McQuade-isems.
Yeah, right. Where he was just
kind of, you know, cartooning things a little bit
to make sure he could tell an accurate depiction of what's happening
in Ireland, pro football, Ireland. And we appreciate McQuaid.
But it did feel like from across the pond and that beautiful
while, he said that this is going to be the best
season yet. And I don't know what he was seeing.
If he was going to be able to tell that the parody was going to be
outrageous, it was going to be unexpected every single
weekend. Did he know college football was going to be as chaotic
as it was? I don't know. Maybe McQuaid
knows it all. The Tox Tateau
certainly loves McQaeda at Boss of Connor, at
Ty Schmidt. Conman, it feels like this
football season spectacular, but also
sports as a whole. WMBA
moves in the State Farm Arena down there
for their finals. That's great
news. MLB has
teams that, I think, before the
season had no chance because they don't spend enough money.
They might win it all. And then hockey had their frozen frenzy last night.
And there were storylines galore, goals galore, and propelled their season and kicked it off
in a massive way. Sports are on fire con man.
Yeah, and truly the stars. Like to your point, WMBA, Angel Reese is balling out.
She gets a defensive player of the year.
She goes to Atlanta, by the way. They make the finals.
Should be talked about.
Oh, yeah.
Should be talked about with Angel Reese getting traded to a team and then immediately making
the finals.
Brand new expansion team.
They drop into the league.
they make the finals. WMBA cooking. NBA also off to a hot start.
Halliburton won for like 75 points last night. I mean, he pulled up from the logo multiple times.
He's getting back into the groove of things. He said that first game in Iowa State, he didn't play that much, but he was winning.
He said he was a big gas coming off a big layoff. Yeah, playing shapes different than training shape.
And Tyrese Halliburton and the Pacers are hot. But back to the hockey con, man.
Yeah. I mean, the Frozen Frenzy yesterday was spectacular. I love this concept.
seen a lot of people say they had no idea what's happening.
I think we could have potentially learned about it a little bit earlier and talked about it.
But I think as people were watching NHL unfold last night,
maybe some people found some new teams,
and there's young guys dominating combat.
Yeah, the young guys thing, the Genzi, I didn't really understand that.
Like you mentioned Brady Kachuk.
I found out Brady Kachuk is 27 years old.
So he's in it.
So he's in that, yeah, Jack Hughes.
Like a lot of the superstars, which is awesome because of how young they are.
But yeah, Connor McDavid, I mean, he had a goal and three assists.
The Oilers scored four goals.
Yeah, Connor McDavid
basically made all of those happen.
Brady Cucuk, like you mentioned before,
it was just stars.
You know, that's the biggest thing.
Crosby has two.
Connor Bardard, the young star for the Chicago Blackhawks.
He comes out.
He scores the, you know, not game winner,
but kind of game sealer almost for the
Chicago Blackhawks.
Boston Bruins, Maclin-Cellarney,
the young star for San Jose,
who they played late.
He scored a goal.
Charlie McAvoy in his first game back from suspension.
He scores a goal.
Like, anytime the least,
as a whole NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, has their guys going.
That's when it is the best.
That's why the only real thing in the MLB right now is the conversation with the Dodgers and Shohei Otani not really showing up.
Yeah, tell me about Shohei Otani a little bit because I heard maybe Skipper Dave came out and said,
we're just going to support Shohei.
That's what we're going to do.
You said yesterday he has to be injured.
I guess he's not hitting nearly as well as everybody had expected.
He would, especially with how his season went.
And then if the Dodgers aren't out, it's all small mid-market teams that are.
going to make it. Tell me about the state of baseball in the playoffs right now.
I mean, it's good baseball. You know, whether or not a bunch of people are watching it,
that's a completely different conversation. But yeah, I mean, Shohay, that's the big kind
talking point right now. I personally think that he is hurt. He's healthy enough to play to DH,
but he's, you know, he's dealing with a shoulder. He's dealing with a knee. And it's just
taking him a while to kind of get back into the swing of things. The Dodgers had talked about
benching him. But at the end of the day, like, you're not benching this guy. He's
one of the best baseball players of all time.
He's won three out of the last four MVP's.
He's going to get it right eventually, so he is going to be in the lineup tonight.
And I wouldn't be surprised because he told Dave Roberts, like, hey, mechanically, I'm
on to something.
I've been tweaking things a little bit.
I wouldn't be surprised if Shohei has a massive night tonight.
Okay, so they're on the brink.
I think.
So they're down 2-0.
So it's like they need to go now.
I mean, you go, because it ends in Milwaukee.
The brewers have home field advantage.
they have three games in a row at Dodgers Stadium now.
So, yeah, I mean, they lose tonight.
It's scary hours, big time.
Shout out to baseball.
Good luck out there.
All the teams, small market teams representing.
What's that going to do for the lockout?
Because it kind of goes against a lot of conversations that were taking place.
That was the only conversation, kind of, is, hey, we want everyone to be competitive and be
able to win.
And I kind of said the same thing.
Like, well, that's bullshit.
That's terrible.
If that's your only argument, like the raise have been really good the last five to
10 years. So of the brewers. So it's like,
and they don't spend any money. Yeah, I think they want
a salary floor, though, is
right, it would make more teams competitive
owners have to pay money.
Same thing. So if there's a salary floor, then it would
have to be a salary cap. But if there's no
salary floor, then the teams like Pittsburgh never
going to exist in actual football.
So I still think they're actual baseball.
So I still think there is a counter
argument, but it's nowhere near
what it was a month
or two ago when the Dodgers, because
they paid everybody. Fraudulently.
Yeah.
Like the actual money was potentially a part of a big shell game.
Ah, look at me now.
Hey, it's going here.
It's going here.
I'm buying this team.
I'm buying that team.
I'm doing this.
Who's got the money?
My insurance company.
Well, can you do that?
Yeah.
Yeah, don't worry about it.
It's coming.
It's all in there.
Is it?
No.
How are you going to figure it out?
I don't know.
Sell everything.
I'm going to jail.
So the Dodgers, the way it was built, I think, was fraudulent federally,
as opposed to just fraudulent MLB-wise.
But that was the big argument.
Them and the Met spending Pittsburgh,
It's not spending anything, never having a chance.
Fans won a chance.
Players would like a salary floor then.
If you want to have every team have to participate,
have a salary floor, the MLB says,
well, if there's a floor, then there has to be a cap.
Maybe there's just nothing.
We just continue to move on how we are,
and maybe baseball's back next spring.
I mean, yeah, again, you know,
we're going to put the last four teams,
three of the bottom five teams in spending are still alive.
So it's like, can you draft?
Can you develop?
Like, that's a big part of sports as well.
It's not just spending much.
Like, young guys get drafted.
You need to be able to know which one of these guys are good, which one isn't worth
a shit.
Do we have coaches who can develop these guys?
Do these guys perform when they get in?
So, yeah, obviously the Dodgers and the Mets and, you know, the Yankees and teams
of that ilk, like that's a big part of it.
But it's like, you know, you still got to go out there and perform.
So I don't know what they're going to do.
You know, if the Guardians or the Reyes or the Brewers were to win the World Series,
like, you know, it'll be very interesting.
Yeah, this is a hilarious tweet.
There's a lot of this that is out there right.
now as we head into a potential work stoppage for MLB.
Let's not worry about that now.
Let's enjoy baseball.
That's right.
Let's enjoy hockey.
Yeah.
Let's enjoy football.
Let's enjoy basketball.
Let's enjoy the fact that we have former president of Ohio.
Ladies and gentlemen, he's a college football national champion,
Super Bowl champion, writer cup winner.
Ladies of gentlemen, an attic in Ohio, AJ Haw.
Yeah.
As we wrap up baseball, the Reds and the Pirates are never going to be in this
conversation if everything stays status quo, but maybe that's how it's supposed to be.
because the ownership is ass.
I don't know.
I think there's a possibility
that Reds could find a way
to put this thing together
in the next two to three years
and get a World Series.
Okay, I hope your Reds can do that.
Bucca's never going to do that.
It's never going to happen.
Let's head over to Hammer.
Dod!
Dahn!
Tone, if everything was to remain the same
with this negotiations,
do the Pittsburgh Pirates ever win anything?
And is that something
that could deter you from being a baseball fan?
You would think so,
but the way the playoffs are playing out this year
and you look at the teams
that are in the playoffs still,
the Pirates spend more than two of those teams in there, so why not?
Yeah, I mean, I like that.
96 million there, is that what I said for the race?
That's what, half a player for some of these teams?
Yeah.
I thought we said earlier, though, if the Dodgers don't win, it's good for us.
It's good for not, there's not going to be a lockout.
Yeah, but I think they're still going to have their argument in negotiation
because there's a salary cap expectation because some of these teams have to pay.
But maybe there's just no change.
And maybe it's just like, you know what?
Baseball's good.
Let's keep it rolling.
Let's move the World Baseball Classic to the All-Star break.
Yeah, get rid of it.
It was fun.
It was fun while lasted.
It was fun while lasted.
It's at the All-Star game.
Do like four days.
Send college guys.
Send high school and college guys like they used to do the Olympics.
Boom.
Love it.
Let's do it.
Just get embarrassed.
Oh, this is how I'm played banana ball.
Yes.
Actually, that's perfect.
We would win.
Yeah.
America would win banana bowl.
You know why?
Because like Dominican Republic, other countries,
they don't do that Mickey Mouse bullshit.
They got these guys starting at 12 years old,
and the goal is, hey, we're going to get you out of here.
you're going to go playing the majors.
You're not going to be whipping your penis out while you're playing baseball.
Like, we don't do that kind of stuff.
Every time you say it, they don't.
I swear I've seen it somewhere.
I don't.
You got to check your cookies, brother.
That ain't, that ain't with Savannah Banana Baseball.
It sounds like you maybe dabbled into a part of, you know, the audio.
I don't think so.
I see these guys taking clothes off all the time dancing.
No, no.
We're not talking about.
Family friendly, I thought.
Yeah, it is.
You've got some people's elbow banana coming up in your.
Yeah, the guy who's on dancing with the stars.
I think he's one of the main culprit.
No, your Algo's showing you the wrong stuff.
AI is crazy right now.
It is.
That ain't what Jesse Cole's doing.
Jesse Cole's got the Joe bros.
He's got O-A-R.
He's a genius.
Yes.
There's no two ways about that.
He also has an incredible hat flip.
He does.
Who's on Dancing with the Stars?
The guy in the Stilt pitcher?
Joe Buck.
Joe Buck's on Dance with Stoss.
Joe Buck was outstanding on Dancing with the Stars last night.
He was one of the judges.
He did so good.
Fit right in.
Is it live?
It is live.
Yes, it is.
Oh, so he has to actually
know his shit in real time.
And I questioned it the whole time.
But from beginning to end, Joe fit in so good.
He was so good at it.
It was unbelievable.
And then I'll note this, the banana ball guy.
He has not whipped his penis out on Dancing with the Star.
Yeah, he never did that.
I thought, yeah.
I'll go.
I thought ABC, of course.
You know, you know what kind of fines you're getting slapped with?
You do that banana ball.
You know, it's not on TV.
What are you going to do?
It is on TV.
And there's kids there.
They ain't doing that.
It's a great show.
And it might be your only baseball next year.
So let's not talk too negatively.
about it. Shout to Joe Buck, performing
well for all of football and sports out there
with Dancing with the Stars. He's not supposed to be
good on there. The fact that he was, we appreciate
that, Joe. He also owes,
how many touchdowns Charlie Becker have
on the season thus far? Let's head over
to Hammer. Dahn!
How many touchdowns did Charlie Becker have?
Eight. Damn. He's eight touchdowns.
So Joe Buck, with his new
deal, he agreed
$10,000 per touchdown.
Nice. So that's $80,000 donation thus
far. Charlie Becker on pace
for 19 touchdowns.
Shout to Joe Buck doing that.
And Michelle Beisner, Buck, his wife.
She obviously had to sign off on that as well.
I don't think either of them have, but if we say it
publicly enough, they will definitely have to buy
in. Let's go from Dancing with the Stars
and the NFL representatives and a Savannah
ball representatives to
college football. A lot of chatter today
because what Greg Sanky said at SEC
Basketball Media Days, about an
openness to a 2014 playoff.
There is currently a college football
playoff simulation happening with select media members going down and learning how the process
goes for how they select who's who whenever the CFP rankings are to come out starting week
10 maybe week eight I forget what it is. So this is the CFP kind of cooking and then the 2014
playoff potentially happening around the corner to tell us everything about what's happening
right now is the authority on college football. One of the faces of college game day and voices
Ladies and gentlemen, Pete Damol.
Yay, Peter.
What up, Pete?
Gentlemen, how are we doing to it?
Okay, so...
Covered a lot of ground there.
Thank you.
Savannah bananas, yeah, impressive range.
Well, they're selling out college football stadium,
so we thought people would kind of piece that together
for the college football conversation with the Savannah bananas.
They don't do what Ty said they do.
That is AI, what Ty's watching.
And we don't know why that's what Ty's Algo is showing them.
So...
Yeah, it's crazy.
That's a whole other conversation in of itself.
that maybe Pete can break down someday.
Maybe Pablo gets into that someday.
Pete, let's talk about the 2014 playoff.
According to SOS from the SEC,
the members are open or more open
than they've ever been for a 2014 playoff.
I think they are looking for a 9 plus 1,
which means 9 conference game,
plus another big game on schedules
for other conferences and championship weekend
is quite a concern potentially as well.
What do we know about what's happening and when can we all expect it, Pete?
Pat, if ESPN is going to secure the rights for the additional playoff inventory for 24-team playoff,
the expectation is we'll know relatively soon, likely this week, whether or not that happens.
I guess we'll step back and you have to remember the college football playoff is actually just really a television contract.
That's what it is right now.
And right now it's a television contract for a 12-team playoff, which is 11 games.
ESPN and the CFP now for 34-ish days have been in a negotiation back and forth on potentially procuring the expanded college football playoff.
Why Greg Sanky's comments to me are so significant today is this is by far the most open he's indicated being to expand the playoff.
Now, Greg Sanky's a very calculating guy and he's always very careful with his words.
And he was never against it, like overtly, Pat, but he was always sort of guarded and neutral.
And he's a big, let's explore the data, let's run down what it would look like for the non-conference.
Let's run down what it would look like for the selection committee.
Let's run out all the traps before we declare anything.
So this wasn't a stand on the table open-throated, we're all in.
But this was simply Greg Sankey indicating an openness from the SEC, which I interpreted as being fairly significant.
and likely a signal flare that we could be getting some,
we could be some clarity soon on the CFP going to 24 teams.
The expectation, Pat, remains the CFP will go to 24 teams.
The vehicle that carries it there is still going to be the question.
ESPN has a built-in advantage in these negotiations, Pat,
because we're going to be eliminating conference championship games.
ESPN owns three of those for major conference championship games.
So it's almost like they get to enter the negotiations.
with a rebate or a coupon, right?
Like we had, you know, X hundred million,
$150 million, whatever it is,
Garrett, you know, already allotted to put up for college football inventory.
So that money essentially gets reallocated towards bidding for the CFP.
So clarity will come soon on ESPN and the CFP's talks.
I assume because ESPN has 100% exclusivity on the college football playoff
and are the landlords if they would like send out to CW or TNT,
they probably get a first negotiation if the CFP was to expand as well.
So not only is there already money in championship weekends
that is already potentially presented for that case,
I think they also are, I would assume,
the first ones that CFP has to negotiate with that.
Because if ESPN doesn't want it, somebody definitely will.
And it sounds like that is the case.
ESPN, though, I think we should say,
has not been the driver for a 2014
playoff. I don't
think they have been the main drivers behind this.
I think the people at the top of ESPN
have come out and said like, we are not the one.
This has been CFP saying we should open us up to 24.
And the CFP committee makes up commissioners and ADs.
And there's a lot of people that want the 2014.
Can you re kind of explain why people do want the 2014 playoffs
and positions of power in college football?
So last August, Pat,
we broke the story that the Big Ten had actually started to socialize as a big word with these things, right?
They started to socialize a 24 and 28 team CFP.
And that's what, 14 months ago.
And the idea was fairly roundly mocked in the media.
And it was greeted fairly chilly around the industry.
But in that time, in just 14 months, that notion went from being, you know, kind of there was an outcry against it.
And that notion has been generally embraced.
And I think a lot of this starts with Pat, and you can obviously identify this with all your ties to
West Virginia, is what teams are having to spend now.
So this will not be a windfall of money for the conferences, this version of the expanded playoff.
What it is is it's an access play.
And it's not surprising the Big Ten started it.
They have 18 teams, right?
So it behooves them that they want more access, just like the Big Ten was a big proponent of the
expanded NCAA tournament. They have 18 teams. They want the middle of their pack to get in
NCAA tournament. In football, going to 24, gives their middle class more games with
juice this time of year, right? Late in the season, November, December, Iowa, you know, is having
a great season. UCLA is having a great season. Wisconsin's having a great season. Like,
those teams would have really meaningful games. That had always been Tony Petiti of the Big Ten's
rationale behind this. Slowly the idea codified. Look, the ACC and the ACC and
the Big 12 are lagging behind financially.
So they want all the access points they can get for their top teams.
And really, it's been the rare thing in college sports that's been a groundsful.
All the coaches want it, right?
Pat, what coach doesn't want to make the playoffs or more access to the playoffs?
The ADs feel the financial pressure.
They're saying, hey, if we're spending in the Big Ten, probably a median of $30 million a year on our roster, we want hope, right?
Hope's a powerful drug.
We want hope to say, hey, this is.
is going to justify our expense. We could play a home playoff game. We could host a playoff game.
We could be in the, we could be in the playoffs. So over these 14 months since it's been introduced,
the idea is really caught on. The Big 12 came out in favor, the ACC came out in favor of it.
And within the SEC, the coaches all obviously wanted it. The athletic directors and the presidents
Pat really felt like this was a financial justification for them. And especially going to
to nine games, right?
We've heard Lane Kiven's comments this year about nine games in the SEC and the injuries
and just how much more difficult it becomes.
And I think one last thing, and I know I've been rambling pretty good here, that will come with
this, Pat, is the Big Ten will add a guaranteed non-conference power game.
So it's a huge scheduling play.
I mean, look, the Big Ten's opening few weeks were pretty pedestrian, right?
Like the big noon kickoff games on Fox were North Texas and Indiana, no offense, Indiana,
and obviously Kent State and Ohio State.
If you have mandatory power games, you get a lot more games that look like their week two game, Oklahoma, Michigan, right?
Like those are the games that get fans excited that get, quite frankly, us excited, right,
as people who cover the sport.
We want more of those games.
Tony Petiti has been very clear publicly that they would be committed.
And all the major commissioners in the room would be committed to,
playing nine conference games plus a power conference game, which would really juice up the
schedule, and it would be good for, I think, for everybody, right?
Everybody, fans certainly all want those games.
Yeah, good for the sport, good for fans, certainly good for college football's growth,
which there is still a lot of room to go, even though it's clearly the second biggest sport
in the United States of America.
Nine plus one is what the SEC currently is.
Nine conference games plus one big game.
Okay, need that on your schedule.
I think the SEC, from our understanding, is looking for, okay,
you guys only need eight conference games and then what?
So we got 10 tough games.
If we're going to do this, we would like everybody to be on the same playing field for the good of ball.
And then championship weekend, what happens there?
That's just going to get eliminated, Pete, you think?
Bye.
It's gone.
Now, championship weekend had gone stale with this 12-team iteration path.
It just had.
Now, look, you've been the SEC title game.
We've been there for game day.
Like, it's awesome, right?
We were at the Big 12, one year.
It was great.
Like, those conference championship games, you know, the juice, with the 12th team playoff,
the juice left them a little bit.
And if we go back to, was it Georgia three years ago now or two years ago,
Carson Beck gets hurt in the conference championship game.
And, you know, they have to roll out Gunnar Stockton, who never started a game before,
in the playoff against Notre Dame.
So the fear obviously became like, okay,
is somebody going to arrest their starters in the conference championship game?
Now, I don't think that would have ever happened,
but the games just didn't have the resonance
if everybody had already kind of secured a playoff spot
that they had had in the past.
You talked about rambling.
It behooves all of us for you to tell us about the signal flares
for every decision that happens going forward for college football.
We've been to every Big Ten championship here in Indianapolis
that there has been since we've been here.
We have a great time.
I love it.
We have a great time at those games.
And it's a big celebration.
whenever you win your conference championship.
I guess the season champion will now just be what the champion is of each conference.
I think that's going to be tough for the SEC to give up because of what they built the SEC championship into.
If they can get to the bottom of that plus the nine plus one, from our understanding, deal should be good.
Now, people are going to be pissed, AJ.
Like Ohio State people, old school college football fans are going to hate that this happens.
Is that accurate, AJ?
That's what I wanted to ask Pete.
Like, who is against it and what is their argument against expanding this?
Like, is there anybody outside?
Like, we always know coaches want to expand at 24,
but are we just worried about the fans
and all the backlash from the old school, like, football people?
So, AJ, I really feel like the biggest counter to 24 comes from the regular season argument.
College football, and again, I'm biased, but has the best regular season in all of sports, right?
You know, you think about the juice of these early season matchups because the stakes are so high.
And look, AJ, like when you played, for example, and when Pat play,
You had to be perfect, right?
Or you had to be darned.
Yeah, season over.
Yes.
One loss was punitive and you might like, you need 19 other things to happen.
But you woke up every Saturday in the old era of college football.
Scared to death.
Yeah.
Yes, you could not slip up.
And that helped make college football that, you know, like Pat just mentioned,
the second most popular sport in America.
Every weekend on every campus, the games mattered a whole lot.
So the thought is, does the regular season get,
get devalued some because Alabama, Georgia, for example,
was an unbelievable game last week.
Do we shrug our shoulder and say,
they're both gonna be in, maybe somebody hosts,
like now you're playing for different things.
You're playing for seating and home field advantage
and things that really are not intuitive
to the college football fan.
And does some of the juice and drama
that has really defined the sport in September, October, November,
get lessened because there is a scene
safety net now. You know, losing three games and making the playoff would become commonplace,
right? Like, that would be, that would be normal. I believe Alabama made it last year with three,
with three losses if memory serves off the time of my head. So it's still not an anomaly now,
but it would become just kind of par for the course. And that's just different. That's like winning the
AFC East, right? And, you know, the Patriots are going to lose to the dolphins on the road,
whatever. Like, it's just part of it. And so it's a, it's a, I hope not either. But it's a,
It's a fundamental shift in sea change
and the mentality of the sport
and how it's been operated.
The NFL is still doing very well,
even though every game isn't an elimination game.
I do understand that was a differentiator for college football.
I think with where we're at with college football now,
I think the quality of the game, the environments,
the buy-in from everybody,
the parody of the league,
I think it can stand on its own with a loss or without a loss.
And that game this past weekend is because
the 9 plus 1. Okay, the Georgia
Bama game is because of 9 plus 1 happening down there in the
SEC. If we get that everywhere, we got massive games.
I think the fans are still going to flock and even more are going to come,
especially with more at the end, but there's going to be people pissed.
Now, final question here for you, Pete from Ty.
Yeah, Pete, obviously a lot to still get figured out here.
But is there any, like, when do they expect this all to take effect?
So it would be for 27, Ty.
Whoa.
That's my...
That's awesome, Max.
Next year.
Yeah.
And there's some scheduling things that need to be figured out Army Navy.
Because remember, we're moving to week zero is week one next year already.
Everything's getting shifted.
Everything's getting shifted up a week.
Does that make sense, Pat?
Like, you know, there's usually eight games in week zero, and it's always like Hawaii and, you know, the Ireland game, etc.
Well, all that is going to get shifted earlier to accommodate all this.
So, yeah, the expectation is this is going to roll and roll quick.
All right.
We appreciate you for joining us and breaking it all down.
We know you'll stay on top of it.
Why aren't you down at the CFP simulation thing?
That feels like something you should be snooping around.
You should be on the committee.
The what?
Feels like they're going to have to change that for next year,
because the selection is for 24 is going to be very different than 12.
You're the best, Pete.
Thank you so much for all the signal flares.
That's Pete Tamil.
We'll send them up for you.
Thank you.
Hey, Peter.
Age, people in Ohio State are going to be the most pissed.
You know, like, old school college football fans are going to be the most, man.
I think that was the worry about expanding the playoffs,
and then when the conference championship game became a big part of the entire story,
and then it's a week after Ohio State, Michigan,
these two just going to play each other again next week.
Like, that was a conversation.
I think the game's so good.
I think it'll be able to survive by itself without just every week being an elimination game.
I personally think that.
I agree.
The one thing that I hope they try to do,
and I feel like they've kind of tried to avoid it in 12,
is I don't,
hopefully it's not just a bunch of, like,
conference rematches in these early rounds.
Like, we want to see, I want to see the other teams play the other teams
and not just, oh, we're getting another Big Ten matchup in the first round
and another SEC.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
You want them to cook the rankings?
Absolutely, yeah.
You think eventually that Big Ten and SEC completely goes away?
Like, like, I don't know.
I'm saying, like, as they are right now,
do you think they just make it like the NFL where there's 32 teams?
AFC and have like four team divisions.
It's been talked about and fantasized in theory about,
but I think each of these conferences get so much money for different things.
And those deals aren't up until 2032 or 2034.
So the planning for that would have to start now,
but it would also have to be a lot of hold from people that are getting deals in 2030, I think.
So yes, would be amazing if it came to that.
But I don't think you'll ever see the Big Tenor.
see disappear. Now,
Pact 12 we thought was dead. It's alive.
Wow. So everybody's in.
Everybody in here is in on a 24 game.
I'm not.
I have,
I have not. I'm not exactly, but I know it's going to happen
and I'm whatever. So, but yeah, I understand
why they're doing it, but no, I don't, I don't like it.
I think some, what are those first round? What are the first round
games going to look like? What's the score going to be?
Well, that's what the first round is now.
So I think that's kind of what the comes. The more home college football games,
though. Another round of home
college football playoff games on
campuses. I think
we all like that. Yeah. I think we all like that.
But we think you could also do that
still if you were to take it, if we're moving
it up so you're not in the middle of whatever the weather
is in some of these places.
I don't know. I think
this is quite an out for a lot of coaches.
Definitely. I think this is quite
an out, which is why they're supporting it.
I think we are going to...
Playoffs. Two years in a row.
Exactly.
It's like making the playoffs in a
NBA. Like, who cares? It becomes a part. Like, it was tough. Like, that drama between
Notre Dame and Miami last year getting in, both very good teams, you know, that made it like,
okay, you got in, now what? And then you're going to run, like that's special. But just,
I feel like it was 24, then it'll be however many. It just keeps going up. And I don't know,
maybe it's just fresh off watching that saving dock where you're looking at, and you're remembering
like, Bama, LSU playing, and then something crazy had to happen late. I think Oklahoma
State had to lose. So they got the rematch in the national championship.
I don't know.
And I'm probably saying like an old man yelling at the cloud
because that's just what college football now is at this point.
But even the conference champion, like, I like conference champion.
Me too.
We like going on the DECD.
I like going down on the SEC one.
Every time we get a chance to do it, we went out to the Big 12 one.
It was, it felt like their fans really wanted.
Oh, yeah.
It felt like their fans really wanted.
That could be the first round of playoffs and we'll be okay, though.
You know that.
What's that?
We can get rid of that and that be the first round of the playoffs
and everything will be fine.
Agreed.
I think that's where we're all at.
In the song.
What's that?
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, they've got to
14.
Start with 12,
counting down to one.
That's how we crown a CFP
National champion.
They can't remake that magic agent.
I mean, 12 and 24,
I mean, if they said it quickly enough,
Star 1st,
they'll do that.
They can do that.
Rotating bases.
Yeah.
More teams get a shot to shine.
Definitely more teams
got a shot to shine.
No ad lit up in there.
Let's not go from you being negative.
Let's go to you in a suit.
And Ty Schmidt saw something he was dreaming of seeing this past weekend.
It's time for Debutts's situational report.
Hey, tell us about this week's sit rep as you look incredibly cool on that graphic.
And I think we're diving in the Green Bay Packers success a little bit.
We are.
We are another sit rep offense.
Once again, I was this close.
It was this close to being a Vikings, the first defensive sit rep.
We'll probably get down and dirty with those boys at some point.
But, I mean, Matt Lefleur, we talked about giving him his flowers a couple of years ago.
He came out, big rivalry game.
He was very, very aggressive.
Jordan Love had a big day, 25 for 31, 367 yards.
And what I like was the aggressiveness on first down specifically.
Around midfield, AJ knows this is the shot territory.
First and 10, big bodies on the field, Jordan Love under center.
Now, the Bears did a lot.
I think they helped him out.
This is part of being on first down.
Both of these corners right here, your cover guys, right?
These are guys you're paying money to cover fast wide receivers.
Both of these guys are going to blitz.
So you're going to have Devin Bush out here in the flat and cover two,
and you got a safety down here, believe Xavier Woods in the deep half.
He doesn't get enough depth.
You got Christian Watson coming over in motion, which gives him free access.
He gets outside of the flat defender and just runs up the rail.
And Jordan Love does a great job putting it out there for an easy,
what I would call an easy touchdown in the NFL.
This is wide open and number one wide receiver on this team.
wide open in the end zone. I think it started
with the play design, but also with the
Bears helping them out, probably calling the run
blitz, first down, sending both of your corners
off the edge, and now you're assed out in coverage.
So is this Jordan Love taking advantage of the
situations, or is this them being actually
more aggressive? I think the play call
is definitely aggressive. First and 10, you're taking
a shot. This is the alumni
territory. Once anytime you're watching
filming, you see that logo, first to 10,
you better believe, be ready for a
shot. You're deep. So once again, this
looks good on paper. You got a linebacker.
out in the flat, not too much stress.
You got a safety who should be fine.
You got two receivers.
You got all the speed over here.
You'll even see if you run it back one more time, Foxx,
or just rewind it about five seconds.
You'll see the backside safety rookie.
Once he doesn't have any deep threat,
he's basically telling the others say,
hey, push, push.
I kind of got your help over here.
But all the speed, all the talents over here,
he just doesn't get enough depth.
And Jordan Love takes advantage of it.
But it starts with the aggressive,
the aggressive play call.
On both sides.
Defensively, it's aggressive,
sending both of your corners,
but offensively taking advantage.
of that. That's crazy going eight-man protection,
max protection, only a two-man route
with five people in coverage. Five people in coverage,
two-man route. And they're both wide-eyes open.
Ty, this is something
that Jordan Love never, he's a dinkin dunker,
right? And the shots are normally Hail Mary's
into double coverage? Well, when they're
playing well, like they are aggressive
and they throw it downfield, but whether
it's been the protection and then they just,
he doesn't have time to do it, or
I think what a lot of people have been complaining about
this year is we know the line's an issue.
A lot of early down
runs and then they're putting themselves in third and eight, third and nine, third and 11,
and forcing him to do that. But when they're really rolling, he's aggressive and throwing it
downfield. They said that was the best Jordan Love. Do we have a couple more pieces of evidence?
Yeah, he averaged about 12 yards per attempt in this game. This is right here again. Now you
have Christian Watson up there as like a tight receiver. He's going to end up becoming a slot.
Once again, first and 10. Once again, the bears are going to blitz their corners. You're going to
have split safeties. But instead of running up the rail this time, now Christian Watson,
free access once again right down the middle.
Middle has it clear right down the middle.
Another shot on first and ten being aggressive with the play call,
joy and love making an accurate throw.
And I mean once you're you're, I mean, you can switch it up.
You know, blitz of boundary corner here and there,
maybe catching offense off guard.
But with these weapons that the Green Bay Packers have down the field,
I wouldn't do a ton of blitz in my corners.
But this is once again, first down, probably a run blitz.
You got Christian Watson ends up in a slot,
free access down the middle of the defense.
another big play for number nine.
Did we expect this out of Jordan Love and the Packers this week against the Bears tie coming in?
No, not really.
I mean, I think this is what everyone's kind of been waiting for and they want to see that
because Christian Watson has been unbelievable.
And Matthew Golden has really started to get going.
But they've always been kind of run or pass off the run.
Like they've really wanted to establish the run game and then a lot of play action off that.
But they just haven't been able to run the football.
So it's kind of been like, hey, this is what you have to do.
You have to go out there and be aggressive with Jordan Love.
And he kind of has to be Superman.
We're up 20 to 7 now, Green Bay Packers.
They can take the foot off the gas?
Nope, nope, not this game.
You know, there's a lot of heat between the coaches,
some heat between the players, another big time play.
Now, I only got one wide receiver on the field.
Bow, Melton, 13 personnel.
Defense probably thinking run right.
Nope, corner, he bumps in.
Now you got the tight end.
Hard play action, another max protection,
rolling to his left, Jordan Love.
And now you're thinking the route concepts,
everything's going that way.
Tucker Kraft's probably going to run a corner route.
Nope, he runs a post.
Jordan Love flips his hips, throws it down,
field so everybody got in on the action.
There's great play design, great aggressiveness
once again, and they're getting other players
involved as well. Tucker Kraft obviously expect
to have a big time year. Jordan Love
to his left flip hits. He was feeling
himself. I mean, that is a absolute
bomb, AJ Hawk.
Look how smooth and under control he is,
but all this stuff deep out that you're showing, it's coming
from like tight, condensed, splits, everything.
Like you said, this is 13 personnel.
Obviously, LeFleur had something
on film going into this game, like
planned up. And it, they, it seemed
who they called it at the right time and they executed.
Maybe just looking to protect Jordan Love
if the conversation has been, he hasn't been able to make
any plays. They have it against the Chicago Bears.
We have more. Oh, yeah. We got
more shots. We got more guys, too.
This one is golden. And now, once again,
play design. You're going to motion town.
31-7. A.J. mentioned,
tight, condensed splits, Jordan Love
under center. And now, obviously, especially
at this point in the game, number nine, you got
a rookie free safety. He's in the middle
of the film. You see this route concept
week in and week out. Deep over
with the deep pulse on the backside.
But now you got two speed guys, Watson and Golden.
The safety, he's going to sit on one.
Jordan Love is just reading one guy here.
Middle of field safety, I'm reading the rook.
If he comes down on Watson, I'm throwing it deep to Golden.
And now that backside corner who's freed up, he has to beat Golden to the ball,
which he doesn't.
Great throw to your big time, speedy wide receiver.
Referee does a great job rolling, been an athlete, getting the hell out the way.
The great throw, being aggressive, like you said,
31-7, you're still up in the fourth quarter,
and you still got your foot on the gas.
Ty, it feels like a little zipper burn happening while we're watching these highlights.
Well, I think this is why I get so frustrated and irritated at times because I know this is in there.
You know, and sometimes they just come out and they do not look prepared to play at all.
And again, the old line has been a big part of that early this year.
But, like, we've seen this from Jordan Love time and time again.
Like Matt LaFleur being in his bag, him throwing it downfield, accurate balls,
and not taking the foot off the gas.
That's the big thing.
I think that's what everyone wanted to see is, hey, it doesn't matter that they're up 31-7.
Like, go out there and beat the shit out of these guys, not just because of all the shit that Ben Johnson's talk,
but, like, that's how they lost two of the Bears games last year was not taking their foot off the gas and letting them back into the game.
A couple fun facts and stats here.
Jordan Love had the most pass yards, 367, an interception free game in the history of the Bears' Packers rivalry.
And Christian Watson, there's stats coming out about him as well.
He leads the NFL in 30-yard catches, six of them, and 30-yard touchdown.
three of them. Half of his explosives are going for tons.
This is the last one. The four, the first four we've shown was all first down,
so probably not expected. Like AJ said, probably had a tail in the defense.
Now, Todd, can you give us a little context on what happened kind of before this third and 22?
Yeah, so on second down, they throw a deep ball to Watson.
Should have been P.I. Was not called.
Okay, so they come back. Next play.
Love throws a deep ball to Sturtevant down the right sideline.
he catches it called for offensive PI.
So it gets pushed back to third and 22, and it's like, okay, you know,
should have been a touchdown or we should have been in the red zone, you know, on the goal line,
and now we're probably just going to run a draw on punt and who knows.
Yep, alternative ball don't lie situation.
But now third and 22, like you said, screen draw.
I'm thinking there's a defense rally and tackle.
Nope, they're going to take another shot with Christian Watson in the slot now.
And now you have three deep defenders.
You see five standing back there.
Those other two guys are going to become like double buzz defenders.
So it's going to become three double buzz, what we would call it.
They were kind of hang in there looking for dig routes.
You're going to get a dig route here at the bottom.
But Christian Watson, once again, free access within the defense.
So they're just sitting the buzz.
So it's that corner, Jalen Johnson, you got to get depth, be deep as the deepest, free safety as well.
Watson throws his hand up.
Makes it great.
Now, this is a throw you're throwing in the traffic.
You're just trusting your 6'4, 6'5 wide receiver to just go up there and catch it.
And on the TV copy, it looks even better with the catch.
And like you said, this was a ball, don't-law situation.
If you have time, the Packer's social media, I think they put out like a five-minute clip of Christian Watson being wired this game, being miced up this game, and it's a good watch, good listen for sure.
That's a 64-yard ball right there, just throwing from Jordan Love with ease.
Christian Watson does it.
What was the Jordan Love quote about this particular play?
Didn't he say something about, I was mad about the first two, so he threw another deep ball or something along those lines?
Jordan Love is he continued a ball?
I don't remember seeing that, but yes, probably because he was really pissed after the OPI.
I appreciate that Jordan Love and LaFleur are finding it.
I like that they get a big-time win over the Ben Johnson-led Chicago Bears
because we started talking about Ben Johnson and the Bears as if, you know.
Oh, they're on here.
What do you mean they're on here?
There's some Ben Johnson Bears.
They don't do my Dan O'Lowski.
Oh, they're on good deed.
You're saying against that particular offense.
But we were talking about this Bears team being unstoppable.
They don't have Caleb.
They have Case.
They have Tyson Bagman.
Bejan in there. Ben Johnson's going to do what he's going to do.
He's the big bad wolf going into Lambo.
And the floor said, not so fast, my friend.
Shout to Lee Corso.
Shout to Situation Report.
Oh, yeah.
Baby Debutt.
And ladies and gentlemen, it's time to do something we get a chance to do every single week
where we celebrate the big guys.
It's time to go in the trenches with the top five, top five,
top five performing offensive lines from week five of the NFL season with AQ Shipley.
At number five, Monday night football zone, Buffalo Bill.
What did they do, AQ?
Well, they came back and had a really good performance this week.
They ran it pretty well, and Josh Allen and James Cook were obviously two-headed monster.
And then the other boys got involved.
But look, you see a little carrot over Aaron Donald.
They scheme this up this way, right?
They put the back to Aaron Donald, so you get the double team on the back side.
Right there.
You get Spencer Brown and Osiris Torrance climbing up on one side.
You get the double team between the center and the guard on the front side, Alec Anderson, Connor McGovern.
Right there, hip-to-hip.
Beautiful technique.
You keep Aaron Donald away from the play.
Hip-to-hip.
Connor McGovern. He's going to climb on the linebacker. Yep, what is that? That's a butt in a butt.
We find a big gaping hole.
Beautiful run by Cook. This is one of the ones that he did not fumble and lowers his shoulder and runs through at the end.
Well, I actually lowered the crown of his helmet. Could have potentially been targeting.
Player safety. But hey, offensive players doing it.
Him getting off of the duo there, getting up to the second level was what the most impressive part of this is by McGovern.
Absolutely. It does a great job. A lot of guys continue at the angle. But listen, every time you have an offset back to the
backside. They're never going to cross the midline.
So he does a good job pressing here and
then getting vertical coming back and sealing
there. Congratulations to the Buffalo Bill's out of
a lot. You already snow.
You already snowed. He played well.
Dion Dawkins had a great game. He did. I got a chance
to talk to him from across the field and warm-ups, and I told him,
I said, hey, we're doing this tonight? And he goes,
he started talking about the refs wanting to call
a hold on him. He's so athletic for how big
he is. You forget how monstrous
of a man he is. We saw him at the Espies.
He was walking behind us. Giant.
So big.
And then you see him on a football field just warming up.
It's like, this guy is monstrous.
So athletic.
A lot of athletic big men.
Let's talk about the number four performing offensive line coming out of week five of the NFL season.
The Pittsburgh Steelers.
Wow.
AQ, you're from, I mean, can't see a single offensive alignment in the back of that,
but there is a slew of them across the top right there.
I mean, they're certainly.
Lurking.
They're in there lurking.
They're lurking in the shadows, in the shadows.
and the shadows of being great is where they lived at the beginning of the season.
A lot of people were worried about them.
They make a switch and now they're dominant,
and the Pittsburgh Steelers' offense look great because of it.
That's exactly right.
Jalen Warren had over 100 yards rushing again.
And when you talk about this group, they make a switch on the right side.
But let me tell you, Mason McCormick,
I've been kind of lukewarm on over the last couple years.
He comes in this year.
He's at left guard.
This is a duo play, right?
This is all the meat, all the meat's to the left side.
Everybody knows on the Colts defense.
They know where it's going.
But Mason McCormick does an incredible.
job. Him and Zach Frazier have been fantastic this year. There's the duo block right there. You get
the ace block, right? Look at him, hit the hip. Watch the noseguard go across to help Zach Frazier
as he does that. Boom, he's going to go across. And then you get Troy Fitton who climb in on the second
level does a nice up. Look, Jalen Warren goes left, sets up his block for Darnel Washington. Make it
look like he's going to go right, watch him bounce again. But then we're going to go back to Mason
McCormick. We've seen this clip where he takes a linebacker and he just throws a guy, has a grand
old time out there.
Yeah, he certainly was.
He was laughing.
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
Certainly fun if you're not a fan of the Colts.
I think the Steelers have found something.
Let's go to the number three performing
offensive line coming out of week five of the NFL season.
Me, so, fight.
Yeah.
They were on here.
They were a mainstay on here in years past.
Yeah, and they played fantastic this week.
They had some backups in the game at left guard and left tackle,
whole left side of the line.
But let's look at these two guards, right?
This is the key to this play.
They got to get up and get front side leverage on the linebackers.
Also, let's watch the center.
He's going to set up.
on the nose guard, show pass protection, then go behind the line, show a little deception.
Look at the fullback.
Bredison, right?
Bredison goes in short motion.
He's going to go and replace the tight end.
Now the tight end is going to go back and wham the nose guard.
Oh, wham!
Boom!
There it is.
Had his eyes going back with the center.
You wham him, and then you get two for one right here with Bredison and Brian O'Neill on
the front side.
Beautiful blocked at the second level by the guards.
And then you get Aaron Jones, who goes over 100 yards again.
He was fantastic.
Congrats Aaron Jones.
I saw him celebrating life as he should.
Minnesota Vikings are 5 and 0.
The number two performing offensive line out of week 5.
The Detroit football lion.
So maybe it is the brand new lions.
Goff having an MVP season, nobody talking about it
because their defense hasn't been able to stop anybody.
Offensive line good AQ?
Yeah, and the only reason they weren't number one
is because of the slow start, as Foxy knows, all year long.
But look, you see that defensive end right there?
Amun Rae St. Brown's going to come in.
He's going to get the crack block.
And then you send Laporta through on Buda Baker.
Watch this double team between the guard and attack.
and Ratledge and Blake Miller right there. Can opener, get front side, and then you get Big Brock
right, the second tight end. He makes this whole thing go as he gets out as the fullback. Yep,
there it is. Get him on the DB. What's that, boys? A big gaping hole. And then you see the
front side leverage, and you do not want to give Jamir Gibbs that much time. Jamir Gibbs goes on to
be the NFC offensive player of the week. Congrati offensive line. And the number one performing
offensive line out of week five to Tampa Bay Buccaneers quickly. Quickly. Quickly. One,
for it, number one.
Yeah, the Buccaneers.
Over 200 yards rushed
on the right side of this line
and Gedicki and Maulk, right?
Look at them.
They're going to go inside.
We get downblock, downblock,
and then we get the counter coming back.
Bredeson.
I just mentioned his brother as the fullback
for the Vikings.
He's starting at left guard
for the Buccaneers.
Get the kick out.
You get Payne Durham coming around
as the second puller.
He goes one, he climbs to two.
Right there.
There it is.
This is winner, winner,
and they end the game right there.
Downfield blocking two by the wide receivers.
Congratulations to the Eats Five
performing offensive lines out of week five.
Thank you, AQ, as we want in the trenches.
Big Day with Big Shregs, breaking down all the big plays is next.
We continue digitally.
Be a friend, tell a friend something nice that might change your life.
We'll see you tomorrow for football, week six.
Boom. Nailed it.
Might have been late. Way to get it in.
My heart rate's at like 170 right now.
Nailed it.
That was a shot clock, play clock type thing.
Oh, yeah.
Right there.
That was, that was, at this number's at 11.
This one's at 22.
we have 11 seconds to play with here.
How's AQ going to do it? You did great.
Thank you. You did it really well breaking it down.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers are number one,
one in four. That means you've been waiting to put him up there.
Well, listen, I trained their center, so that's
one of my six yards behind.
I've been waiting for him to have a day
like he did. Be biased.
All right, let's get to a break.
Trishmoref's best in the league. Just saying left to tackle. He's
unbelievable. Where did he go? Iowa.
Highlighted
a couple tight ends who also went to Iowa.
Maybe Kirk,
got figured out. Yeah, you might know what he's doing, you know.
I'll tell you what, 2014 playoff.
Hawkeyes going to be in every single year. I know. It's awesome.
They're going to be in there every, every year.
That's right.
That's a Kurt. It's Kurt's dog we saw, too.
He was in the trenches.
Peter.
Oh, yeah. Oh, you're talking.
You need a couple guys like that.
What was that? That was very late.
Yeah. He's an Iowa guy?
Did not know that.
That was very late. He's been suspended.
two games, I think, because
they looked at it and said, bro, the game's
been over, dude. It's a real punch. Playing at a high
level, too. Bradley Chubb did something
to get him going. Bang.
Punch in the mouth. But Chub goes, what?
What was that? This game's over. We already done with the prayer.
You got your fucking clothes off already. You've already
giving away your jersey to somebody? What are we doing here?
That's some deep-seated.
Some real heat. Hey, you're not getting out of this
fucking stadium. Without me
letting you know, I don't like
I don't like it one bit.
Alaric Jackson
Spended two games for that conduct
That was so late
I think Josh Allen was in his third interview
Yep
He was in his third interview
Already did one
So happy for the guys
Already did another one
And he was doing Spanish
Yeah
He's already
Oh yeah
It was his third interview
And all of a sudden
It started having
What?
What happened?
Does something happen here
After a post game?
Maybe it was a bad prayer
Could have been
Well we had one of those
Before pre-game
That was halftime
I think
No, it was pregame. Remember we ran and missed pregame intro?
I think it was halftime.
Are you sure?
Yeah, sure, yeah, because me and Vinny were out there.
We were half-time.
I mean, no, no, no, it was pre-game.
I think it was pre-game.
Yeah, it was pre-game.
Me and Vinny were out there.
On the holidays.
We missed the team prayer, and I found out that I missed a lot of these prayers, I guess.
And the reason why I found that was because me and Vinny and Overterm are the only ones out there.
The whole team was still in there.
We're refs.
He's going, hey!
You got a coin toss, bro.
It's like, yeah.
Talk to fucking Vinny.
He's been here longer to me.
I don't know what are you're talking about.
I don't know where they are.
Then you guys came sprinting out.
Blessed, though.
They came out running.
Blessed.
Can you guys win?
We played Texans, I think.
Yeah, it was in Houston.
It was a Thursday night game.
Maybe we went.
I don't know.
But the prayer was, for my or say, I was not in there.
From a coach or a player?
Did it a player?
It was a player.
It was one of those where, you know,
giving his testimony before his game.
You have respect for the Lord, of course.
You're looking.
Arrive at the point, please.
Land the prayer plane here, please.
There's no place we'd rather be.
We pray not to win, go willing, we shall.
Stay healthy, them healthy.
Go Colts, amen.
Jesus' name, we're out there, we're doing it.
I wasn't in there for it, but I did hear a couple different recaps.
He had a couple different stanzas.
I think he wanted to dabble into a couple different words of God
from different people.
I don't know if that's the time, but...
Did he get demoted? Next game?
From prayer guy?
Yeah, usually coaches will
yank that guy out of the locker
when it starts to get back up.
He was never speaking in front of the crowd again.
He probably knew it.
He probably knew it, Ben.
Last shot at this thing.
I'm the least let Jesus know.
Interesting story with that guy
for the rest of his life.
Yeah.
He's a fucking great special teamer, though.
great special teamer
he liked praying
more than everybody else
almost missed the whole fucking game
if there was a bad prayer
that led to a fight after the Bill's Rams
game on Monday night we need to hear that
did you imagine somebody
sneaks in and they're like a Satanist
I got the prayer
I know I'm not saying that
I'm not putting that on anybody
what I'm saying what would the situation
be during a prayer that could
lead to a fist fight. I think that would be it.
Dear Heavenly
Father, that doesn't fucking exist.
Holy shit. Then all of a sudden
you got a fool. I guess that would be the only way
that that would happen.
Or you overtake him
or if someone's like already they start the prayer
and someone on the other team's like now, he just starts talking
louder and louder and getting going over top of it.
What's going on here? Oh, like you're playing
seven up, your reading in class.
All right, I got it from here,
pal. Jesus ain't listening to you.
Maybe.
That could be it.
I don't know.
And maybe that's why the two-game suspension was such a big deal.
And I wonder who started.
Did Chubb start the prayer?
And then Alaric took over and then Chubb said, hey.
That's my prayer.
And Lerick said, Jesus didn't like your prayer.
We don't know.
We generally don't know.
We have no information on what happened.
We don't.
That was really late for a fight to be happening, though.
People already got their shoulder pads in the locker room off.
Oh, yeah.
Can't believe I see this guy still out here.
Let me go ahead and give him one.
Saw a couple guys getting water spray in their mouth
Saw a lot of guys grabbing a bottle themselves
Yeah, you are seeing a lot of guys grab a bottle
We gotta keep bounding that home
Nobody needs to be squat
You don't need to be doing that
You're a fucking professional athlete
Okay, these are adult humans
You don't need to tell, huh?
Squatry, please, like my daughter, okay?
You don't need any juice boxes out there.
Grab the fucking bottle, squirted in your mouth
and I am, and people don't like us.
These fucking camera people don't like it.
Get the fuck out of the tunnel.
Get out of there.
I'm done with it.
I am done with it.
Cool shot.
It's super lit on social.
I agree.
You know what else is super cool?
Matthew Stafford working his whole fucking life to run out on a Monday night football
out of the goddamn tunnel to his teammates.
I got to do that twice.
Do you know how big of an honor that is?
He got some guy running next to him in the thing?
Get the fuck out of there.
I was so mad.
Just because I feel like that is a sacred thing.
Like running out of the tunnel is a sacred thing.
And now they just got any person just doing it with them.
Like, it's a lit shot.
You know what else is a lit fucking shot?
Them run out a fucking tunnel in the middle of their stadium all by themselves,
which is what people are not a guy.
That's what it is, though, for real.
It's more of the...
I lost it.
I fucking lost.
No, it's sacred anymore.
You guys, I get worried...
I get worried they're going to...
Their legs are going to get tripped up.
Like for real.
Like, they're not that far away.
I get so mad about it.
Guys are athletes, man.
Okay.
I'm old man yelling at Cloud,
and I got a bunch of fucking these camera people say,
oh, we'll never have this shot.
It's like, yeah, we don't deserve to have it.
You don't deserve to shoot it.
If Matthew Stafford wants to run with a fucking GoPro,
like those guys that squirrel dive off of cliffs,
have them do that.
I'm sick and tired.
We're sitting there, literally watching the intros for Monday night.
Lucky to be out there,
thankful to be out there.
I'm watching this intro,
Matthew Stafford's last.
emotional. Who knows how many more he's got. Just got done kissing his kids.
Monday night football against Josh Allen. MVP versus MVP. He comes running out.
Places 60 to 70% fill. They still go crazy. He's running.
Can't even see him from where I'm at because there's a guy running right next to him through the entire day.
I'm like, get the fuck. Who says you're allowed to do? You deserve to run out of that fucking thing.
Well, he's a, it's a lit shot, though. It is a wit shot.
I think it's pretty disrespectful to the entire thing that is happening there,
which is pretty ceremonial for all of Ball.
But hey, lit shot.
Have you seen the shots?
So I saw the one with the one I was pissed off about Chris Sale coming out.
Was that the one I was mad about?
Yeah.
Guys two feet behind him as if it is him walking out to the fucking mound.
It's like, dude, this guy's worked his entire fucking life for this moment.
Yeah, I guess you just get to experience it, though,
because you work for a company that paid billions of dollars to do it, I guess.
Yeah.
But the shot was sick, I will say.
It was a sick shot.
It was nasty shot for afterwards.
But in the moment, I'm thinking to myself, and everybody in the stands is thinking,
Chris Sales Company and die that we've never fucking seen before who has weird shorts on
is holding this fucking thing.
It ruins all the other shots, though, too.
Like, we don't just get Matt Stafford running out.
Like, we get all of the above.
Yeah, how about the live shot?
Oh, well, a social shot afterwards is going to be sick.
It's like, well, what about the fucking real, the actual shot?
It's never the live shot.
That's the problem.
Also, get the sky cam footage.
Can we get a sky cam following them out of the tunnel?
I'm not back in office.
No matter how many people call me an asshole right now, especially in that world.
But no matter how many people show me incredible lit content,
I still don't think you deserve to be out there.
I don't fucking deserve me out there.
I mean, definitely don't deserve me out there.
The Monday Night Football.
Gumpy, do you have the clip?
Yeah, I send it in.
Right now?
Yep.
You should see me.
I mean, it's in real.
Just know that it's real.
Just know that this isn't a gimmick that I'm putting up.
This is not a, this is a real thing.
I got introduced out of a tunnel two times.
And I considered it like the biggest honor that it was happening.
So just to see random fucks just get a chance to do it
because they have a camera in an armband.
I just,
I'm never going to be oh it's sideways god damn it
I don't know can we turn that thing
do we have you run out of town I want to see if this dude just
sprinting behind there isn't I didn't fuck with any of those people
they didn't like me anyways you know I didn't do it can we turn that
how does that thing
yeah somebody's alley
I
Bruce just said there's no way I can you put this up at least
so we can see what it is that you're trying to fix
yeah well just look right yeah so this is
oh all right this is the
Cardano come and say what's up
and J. Mack hanging out. We get kicked off.
Look at me pointing at the guy running right next to him.
Get the fuck off the tunnel.
Literally, you see him up there? Go back a little bit.
Can you go back a little bit?
Can you go back a little bit there? Get the fuck out of that thing.
Look at this guy running right next to him. Can we zoom in on that?
Can you?
Yeah, he's right in the side of him.
I'm so mad about it.
Now, granted, this shot is not a good shot to say we don't like the other shots
that are happening because we are looking at it sideways.
But in real time, in real moment, I say this guy's ruined and Matthew Stafford
running out of Monday Night Football in front of his home.
crowd for how many times they get to do that for the rest of who knows not many more
might be the last one once like at least here we go here it is here it is we got to figure it out
look at him the guy was actually in the camera go go back to the beginning go back to the very
beginning here of the runout can you zoom in up there or no look at look at that guy he is the
boom he's oh the camera shot is the camera man that shot for the live audience he's running out
can you see it up there on the top yeah oh yeah go back to the beginning we're looking up at the top
up here. Red shorts or shirt?
Sure, yeah.
That fucking guy is the shot as if he's the starting
fucking quarterback for the Rams.
It's a good run.
Look at that arm's sway.
Yeah.
I mean, he's about to run,
I mean, what did?
He's a very good cameraman.
I appreciate what he does for sport.
There's no way he deserves to be introduced
to the Los Angeles Rams as if he's the fucking
starting quarterback in an MVP
of an NFL team. I mean, it's just
In real time, who's getting insured?
Oh, the cameraman is.
Okay.
I thought I was a quarterback of the NFL
was literally broken every bone in his body
to get to that point.
Just a little respect, please.
Immediately in real time, I was so mad.
I'm looking at that thing.
And now I'm going to get every cameraman telling me,
you don't get it.
It's like I do fucking get it, actually.
I understand that it's an honor to run out there
in front of a Pax Stadium.
That Chris said.
That's got to mix up his pace, his tempo.
He's got a sprint, slow down,
sprint, slow down, and really mess.
Boom, die.
Oh, my.
God, fall.
Yeah, broken ankle.
Never.
Never.
He's a fucking best in the business, all right?
No.
He's trying to replace him with the fucking wire.
No.
Spanx.
You guys are assholes.
Spanx is the best in the business.
We know Spanx is the best in the business.
No, that guy stinks.
He shows up in every place that he's earned his right to definitely be in or whatever.
And he might have been the one that has kind of started this entire thing.
Sure.
With me.
And I will say that Chris Sale shot, super lit.
It was a super lit shot.
social, but in real life, get the guy the fuck off the field.
That was smart.
A kid's starting it with you, too.
What's that with me talking about?
With your rent and then cut into the shot.
Yeah, I mean, these are clever little content stealers.
You know, they're doing stuff that they're not supposed to do, arriving in places
they're not supposed to be.
But, hey, they kind of get the game, you know, and I like that they're doing that.
I certainly do.
Super talented people.
Just get the fuck.
You have not earned that.
You have not earned the right to be running out of the fucking tunnel with the MVP of the
NFL right now.
What makes you think that you have earned?
I don't, I'm the asshole.
These people are fucking running out like their goddamn MVP of the NFL.
I don't know how I'm the bad guy.
Chris Sale, legendary, coming out to close a fucking playoff game, this guy.
First time, yeah, I fucking should be right here.
What?
I'm the asshole?
I don't think so.
I don't think, once again, though, super lit.
Lit shot.
It was a lit shot, super lit shot.
In real time, we're like, well, is Chris Sale coming a pitcher that fucking guy?
Like, who, you know, are they going to tag off?
Maybe. Is Matthew Safran's starting quarterback or is it that fucker in the red?
They might sign that guy for special teams.
How quick he was moving.
True.
And he wasn't even looking where he was.
Yeah, exactly.
This guy.
Thanks.
Who's coming into pitch?
Oh, this guy and this guy right behind.
I mean, he was a foot and a half behind him.
It's like super lit shot.
Get the fuck off the field.
Okay?
This is a historic moment in baseball.
But hey, that's me.
Old Man, Yonah, Clods.
And I appreciate the content.
All the good content.
Thank you for covering sports.
Thank you for caring about sports.
I have a little respect for the situations in sports, though.
I think.
But that's just me.
I'm in nothing.
But I get pissed.
I get pissed.
You could find a much less intrusive way to do this.
I think so, yeah, because there's zoom-ins on cameras, too.
They should definitely never ever be on the TV shot.
Exactly.
I'm with you.
Because they used to do that for Monday night football all the time,
and I guess I haven't paid close enough attention or Sunday night football
where the quarterback runs out of the tunnel
and there's the guy in front of him, usually on some apparatus
and, you know, he's filming him the whole way,
but you never see that guy ever, you know,
at least not on the TV copy.
This was a lit shot, though, from the guy that's running like he's Chris Sale into a game, you know.
I'll take the ball.
Paul's good, Chris.
All right.
Hey, we want better
coverage of everything, though.
No stone unheard.
Do you have to prove that you can run
like sideways and hold a camera?
Like, do you think they have training for that?
Combine.
Yeah. Camera combine.
Every year.
I mean, it's only a matter of time for one of these.
Oh, yeah.
For sure.
Oh, yeah.
Starting quarterback out.
Oh, guy breaks his wrist or something.
For sure.
Imagine that guy run.
He was pretty fast.
That was pretty impressive.
That was pretty impressive.
He trips falls.
Camera goes in front of Stafford.
Stafford trips falls.
He eats.
face right there. Stafford out. Stetson Bennett in from Monday
a football against Josh Allen. How come that's ever talked about?
They'd execute the camera man if that happened.
He was pretty close to the like the side tunnel too.
That's like the starting defense.
And one on cheerleaders that could have
yeah, he almost bang to bang,
everybody would have thought it was choreography that all their faces went
whenever you know, he was they were running by. But really it was just bang
guy, bang guy, bang.
Like wow, look at the L.A. Rams cheerleader. They got
pretty good sink.
What's that?
Oh, they're all unconscious.
That's why it was such a good run.
I guess we should talk about how good of a run that was.
And super lit.
I haven't seen that shot, but...
Well, probably never see it because they lost the game.
Oh, yeah.
So, did they lose because of that?
Nobody's asking these questions.
Let's get to a break.
We'll ask the hard questions.
Hashtag journalism.
People are pumped up about that.
Hell yeah.
I will have to look into what it is.
Is it a piece of paper on the wall?
I think so.
Yeah.
I think that's what it is.
Hmm.
I think.
What if you just do it work?
No, but everybody is supposed to be like an investigative journalist, I think, right?
In there other forms of journalism?
I don't know.
We didn't go to school.
We don't have the paper on a wall.
There certainly is.
Really?
Do you have to pick a category?
Or is it just an overarching, we do the journalism?
It's a good question.
I do some journaling too.
I don't know if that adds in to help the case or not.
Fawson didn't say that.
Foss didn't say, well, he journals.
No, he didn't.
But you could have added in there.
He just said, I think he has the heart of a journalist,
because when he talks about something...
Why are you talking like that?
What are you using that tone?
That was good.
Because that's kind of how he was talking.
He was pretty monotone the entire time.
You're kind of right.
I think he was trying to be, matter of fact, I watched one of the clips, and I can't do this because he's speaking very kindly about me.
And I appreciate that because that does not happen.
That's a very abnormal thing that happens in those spaces.
It wasn't a lot of follow-up questions either from the interviewer.
And it was impossible to find the stream with these people that are super smart with sports media business.
So there's a lot of things that kind of work against it.
But I do appreciate Foss, complimenting our operation and complimenting what I got going on and saying what he's saying.
And him saying that he thinks that I have a heart of a journalist is really.
really got these journalists up in arms.
Well, in the U.S., there is no license or degree requirement.
There is no single, according to clock,
it's no single definition.
Most people point out to what someone does rather than a credential.
Gathering information, checking it,
and sharing it with the public and the public interest.
That usually means reporting rather than just commenting.
And following the norms, like accuracy, sourcing, fairness, and correcting mistakes.
Fairness is in there for journalists?
Yeah.
Correcting mistake.
Accuracy, sourcing.
Fairness?
sources.
We try our best to just get
good information. We've been wrong.
These journalists have never been wrong before.
Aren't they all doctors in 2020?
Yeah. Yeah.
Let's get to a break. Be a friend, tell her friend
something nice to might change your life. We've got all the
headlines on the other side.
See you then. Goodbye.
It is the absolute greatest.
And what you heard me there doing, that's A.J. Hawk
College Football National Champion, Super Bowl, Championship,
a lottery cup winner, Ohio State Hall of Fame.
He has a tree on campus.
It's right next to somebody else's tree.
Chris Gamble?
No, I don't think he's Chris Gamble.
Dahmer didn't get one now.
He wasn't on all-American.
That's the talk to table at Boston Connor and at Ty Schmidt.
Nine-year NFL vet at Darius J. Butler is here.
12-year NFL veteran AQ Shipley, who is Penn Stater,
A.J. Hawk, Ohio, Stater.
Right before we went live, AQ looked at me and he said,
what's the best environment in the South that you've seen for college football?
And it was hard.
It was really hard.
whenever we were down there for Lane Kiffin with Clemson coming to town.
That was like a four, like an hour and a half, two hour delay.
But during the day, it was like four hour torrential downpour in Baton Rouge.
And that place filled up at nine o'clock at night or whatever it was, 10 o'clock Eastern.
And it was spectacular.
I mean, it was everything that they made it up to be.
The light controls, I think any place that has the ability to turn the lights off completely
and then turn them back on and then do shit, I think they have a good environment.
Ole Miss was able to do the exact same.
It was smaller, though.
You can tell it wasn't over 100,000 people.
It looked smaller than Tennessee was in the afternoon,
so I think it was good for as good as it could possibly be.
Alabama, though, there for that Georgia game that we were just at.
I mean, their fans were cheering for, like, everything.
Like, ball gets caught cheer.
Like, gain of two.
Let's do a little screen.
Let's do a screen.
Ball snap successfully, they're cheering.
Ball gets dropped off to somebody for two yards.
They're cheering.
He gets tackled for like a one yard gain, kind of just kind of quiet.
Then next step happens, the guy catches the ball three yards each year.
He picks up another two yards, cheer.
Like, they're cheering for like everything, and they have $102,000, and it's not a bowl.
It's, that shit sits up a little bit.
So I know because we are there with Coach Sabin and we're tight with the Sabins, people would naturally think I'm biased, but this one felt the biggest.
Gumpy, do you agree with that with how it was set up?
It's on top of you.
I don't think I've ever seen 100 some thousand that are like straight up.
It's usually more of a bowl type atmosphere, right?
Yeah, it was so loud.
And even for the kickoff, you could tell.
Like it was bananas right off the hop and it continued the whole time.
When they scored before halftime on the last play of the half, that place went mental.
Yeah, it's, I would say right now that that was the best environment.
But that was for the number one overall ranking.
That was Georgia coming to town.
It was the biggest game.
but I just think the sustained
was different than what I've seen
and it's built for noise
AJ you guys only play at noon
it feels like oh you're big game so we don't even get a chance
to really see Ohio State at night
that plays loud consistently loud
little different build though right
little different build as it goes out and up
yeah it's not really out it's
I mean it was built like early 1900s I believe
but like it goes up pretty far but it's a horseshoe
so the one end was open for years
and it's still not completely closed in they still
keep it like, you know, it's permanent stands now, but, you know, it gets, it gets very loud.
The old concrete, you know, stadium goes straight up. Penn State is complete, like an erector
set straight up, just a billion people right on top of you. Yeah, Ohio State loud, even for the
day games that we go to over there. Michigan, not as loud as you think, but. That one goes out.
That one goes out. It's dug down into the, into the earth, and it goes out much more.
And I don't think that's the Michigan fan's fault. Like, I think they are loud. I think if they
were built more in a stadium that, like, kept the noise.
and it would be louder.
But that thing's almost built to let noise out,
and it's still huge.
Penn State, we were there for that whiteout
against Oregon last year,
and I think if Penn State would have given them more to cheer,
that place was loud, too.
Super loud.
Northern stadiums seemed to be built a little bit, you know.
And that's what makes Seattle so loud in the NFL, right?
Because it's straight up and down.
There's two walls that just kind of enclose it,
so everything comes down, right?
But, like, Iowa's got a sneaky loud stadium.
I don't know if you've done it.
And how many is it?
like 60,000 or so. No, it's like 75, 80 probably now at this point.
But the fans, it's big. It looks small. It's, they, the fans are right on top of the sidelines,
like right on top. Got it. Yeah, the 100,000 plus things. A&M.
A&M was pretty sick. Super windy that day. But that, they're all on the same page, too.
Yeah. That thing is all locked in. A lot of great, it's hard to just say what is bad.
Yeah, no doubt. Because what are you looking for? Like, LSU had it, if you're looking for it,
and they dominated, so the place was pretty celebratory.
But third, fourth quarter, because it was already midnight,
didn't seem to have as much juice because it was delayed,
so I didn't get to experience that.
Sure.
Ole Miss was crazy.
Tennessee looked wild.
Tennessee, they got in there at 9 a.m.
They were moving in there early.
It's over $105,000, I think, is the number.
That used to be the long.
I mean, I think A.J. right?
Like, whenever we played, I think Tennessee was considered.
The largest stadium, yeah, I think so.
Neeland Stadium, I think it's called?
Yeah, eighth largest in the world is the size, is the,
is the actual stat, I think, now for Newland.
Down there.
A lot of great environments.
That's what college football is.
I mean, Northwestern now, their new stadium.
How many do they got?
I think it's only like $45,000, but the way it's built, it makes it look massive.
So it's like an MLS stadium?
They compared it to like Mercedes-Benz where there's no bad seats in the entire stadium.
Like every single seat looks great, but it's not like built for capacity.
how many people are in there. Because if you're building a stadium for what your fans will
actually fill up, I like that. I think that's a common sense decision, which I appreciate.
Mercedes-Benz is big. I think it's what, 60, 70? I think 60. That was loud. We called that
Peach Bowl. 71 in Mercedes, that was loud. That was probably the loudest we had been. Yeah, that was
and for that to be like a neutral, like not a home, not a Bama or like the homes. That was very, very loud.
First place, first play pick six for the fans that had 98% attendance in that building.
That was loud.
All these places get.
Mercedes.
You ever play in the old Minnesota dome back in the day?
Yeah, oh, yeah.
That place, you've got to walk up 50 flights of stairs to get to the field, and it was super loud in there.
Yeah, and they were pretty good.
I mean, like, I remember when we were in school, they had that really good center.
Greg Esland drone, if you remember that name at all.
But, you know, they were good football team.
So it's not like you walked in there and it was dead.
Like when you were playing Northwestern, it was, I mean, there was nobody there.
They weren't very good.
Now, Northwestern's pretty likely.
Brand new Northwestern.
Who's the head coach of that team?
Chip.
David Braun?
Chip's grinding the show.
No, he's not.
That is, every time we talk about it on game day gets brought up,
what Chip and Northwestern are doing is awesome.
I'm like, he's not the head coach, right?
And then I immediately go, who is the head coach?
And it's like, nobody knows actually.
I'm not the only one asking that question.
Wait, is not Chip Kelly?
No, he's not.
I would have bet a million dollars to Chip Kelly.
No.
For sure.
No, he's just the OC, man.
That's why he gets a chance to go back to the Model T offenses that he's been diving.
Brand new stadium, $850 million into that stadium,
electrifying atmosphere.
I think they have money going into the team.
And they get Chip Kelly is the offensive coordinator.
That is the reimagining of Northwestern football, I do believe.
But they had him with his hard hat on with his little vest.
That's what I remember.
The head coach of the Northwestern football team is?
Is it David Braun?
Is that David his first name?
David Broad.
Yeah, okay.
Spot on.
The position is the Dan and Susan Jones family head football coach.
I knew that.
Chris Pickle.
And all of Northwestern is thanking Dan and Susan Jones and their family
for that brand new stadium and a football team that is kind of bad.
Northwestern making the college football playoff would be hysterical.
With 24 teams, it's certainly possible.
It's possible this year.
If they run the table, like they could be one of those other teams in the Big Ten.
that gets in. And I would assume that, I mean, I'd never been to the old Northwestern Stadium,
but like you said, no one shows up. It's just like, you know, they might play you a little closer,
but you're always winning by probably 21. Like I, I think teams going into there this year,
like are kind of a little bit gobschmacked at how different it is. Northwestern has Michigan State,
Rutgers, Oregon, Iowa, Ohio State, Minnesota, and Illinois left. That's a tough stretch.
But, you know, I mean, if they lose Ohio State and beat everybody else,
they're good.
They can beat Oregon.
For sure.
That's all another conversation.
The hell is going on up there.
You know, what is going on with Oregon?
Is it just two coordinators trying to find their way?
Is your players getting comfortable?
Because they had a lot of guys coming back.
It's like, is that a good thing now or a bad thing now?
Are you too content?
Are you not great?
Are you hard to focus on the big games because you've had so many in the past?
It's like Oregon is a story that's going to be talked about in this modern NIO world
for the amount of money invested, for how good we think the coach is at recruiting,
for how good we think the coach is at coaching,
for how good we thought the quarterback was going to be coming into the year,
for how bad they have played to the start of this season is going to be a convo that lingers into the off season for sure.
Oh, yeah, absolutely.
I mean, you think about the quarterback.
It'd have been starting for the New York Jets right now.
Yeah.
came back for this.
I mean, you've got to figure it out.
But on that highlight, you see L.A.
like what they're doing, too.
We're talking about Northwest and these other teams in the Big Ten,
like what they're doing.
And I saw a little clip of their coach,
I guess pregame in the tunnel,
a little pregame speech, like basically burn the boats type of speech.
You know, we're not big pregame speech guys,
but it was a good.
Kirby got me pretty good, dear.
I was watching the hand that was holding Kirby
after you get through the prayer, obviously.
Kirby will get me going.
Oh, yeah.
If I hear one every couple years, I think it could get me rowed up.
Yeah, his was pretty good.
Bernard.
I don't want to give too much away about speeches.
Peter Burke gives one a mosquito bowl.
As his...
Part of it was in the trailer, right?
Yeah, they used part of it in the newest trailer.
Yeah, I don't know what his title will be.
I don't know if he's a first sergeant or a sergeant or whatever he will be in the Marines.
But he gives a speech in a movie that I was not there whenever it was filmed, I watched it later.
And I'm like, it's fucking Winston Churchill.
I mean, it was, I think that movie is going to be very good.
Very, very lucky and thankful to be a part of that.
Going to see it for the first time next week.
Oh, nice.
Yeah.
When's it drop?
October, something.
Late October?
Yeah, yeah.
I think so.
October 30th.
It's in theaters, October 30th.
Phenomenal story about college football, America, our history, what it was really like.
And then Peter Berg kind of.
and putting his brain onto all of it as auteur,
wrote the movie off of the book of the Mosquito Bowl,
Buzz Bissinger, who also wrote Friday Night Lights,
who Peter Berg worked with.
But Peter Berg writes, you know, script, directs it, he's in it.
And the lads that he had in this movie,
from Nicholson to Scargard to Gautzine to Tom Francis,
I mean, these dudes, top of the line, all in, too.
All in.
Before I was heading over there to film it,
I was following, I think it was Tom Francis.
Phenomenal talent, wildly handsome.
I think he posted on his Instagram story.
I had not met him yet.
And it was like, first day filming a Peter Berg movie.
It's just, yeah, bruises all over his entire body.
I mean, he had cuts on the other side.
It's like Peter tries to show as much respect to what it was actually like in every one of his movies,
from lone survivor to all the other things that he has done.
And I think, I think from my understanding from what I'm hearing,
they really, this movie is a great one.
Honored to be a part of it.
Should not have been my first big time acting,
trying to depict a drill instructor of the Marine Corps,
which is obviously the baddest human of all time,
from the greatest generation of all time here with World War II.
That's a tall task.
I tried my absolute best, went down to Paris Island,
tried to learn, try to buy in, try to represent.
And yeah, it was an honor to be a part of.
I can't wait for people to see it.
It feels like so long ago,
that's the difference between this world and then our world.
It's like trying to recall and remember the things that are happening
While also still being excited about it for the last year and a half
It's all coming to a head what next week, two weeks?
Yeah, two weeks
I can't wait to see it
Yeah, I'm very excited to see this
Yeah, they're showing it I believe to 300 Marines today
I think and then there's a bunch of showings happening all the way up until next Thursday is the premiere
in L.A.
And then I think there's more from there.
So they really really,
like it. And Netflix wanted this go to film, or to theaters, because they thought it would be a great
experience. And Ted Sarandis, who was attacked at the Oscars last year, I think, for ruining the movie
he's like, whoa, whoa, we're just trying to. So he's going to the theater. I don't know if you're
going to see more of that, but they love the movie. So that should be fun. Palsa King.
Yeah, that starts very soon here too. Coming out in a few. Hexed coming out in a few.
You know, a lot of people getting really. Voiceover stuff. How is voiceover stuff? That's got to be sweet.
The Hext rat came together very quickly.
I mean, that was within the last few weeks.
Yeah.
Like, hey, we need somebody for this character.
Anybody got anybody?
Maybe McField would do it.
I think the rat had a different name.
They're like, crap, Macfell.
That'd be great.
And then they asked me to do it.
I did it right here.
Literally did it right here.
They were on a Zoom call on the wall.
Director, Disney Head.
There was a bunch of people on this Zoom call.
And it's funny because I don't know anything about the movie.
I didn't know the movie was coming out.
I didn't know at the time.
I didn't know anything about the movie.
There's Rat.
McAfee. Hey, and I'll tell you, I don't want to give it too much away. I think he does jump off
of a building. Okay. Okay. Now, how high was the building? Well, they say, that's on you.
You know, they're like, however long you decide or whatever. So the first one, I go,
as long as I can. And then I hit the ground. And then I walk ahead and they're like,
all right, shorter building. Sorry, sorry, you know, I didn't know what we wanted or whatever.
But all these things are just little quick bits getting a chance to learn about their business.
I'm honored to do it all, but the voiceover for Hex was cool.
Very blind, though.
I didn't know anything.
In listening to them describe the scene, so I don't know if this is how it normally is for voiceover acting or whatever.
Listening to them describe like, okay, you got 10 other animals around you.
You're popping out of a tube or out of a pipe or whatever.
And you've got 10 other animals, and you're basically telling them everybody needs the coast is clear and everything's okay.
And then somebody's coming in.
It's like listening to them try to talk to me and describe to me what's happening.
And then me, non-thespian, try to be like, all right, well, how would I, if I was a fucking rat act right here?
So I have some follow-up questions because I think that is important.
I go, what type of animals?
You know, are these?
Because I'm a rat.
What type of animals are these?
How are they?
Are they in a good mood or in a bad mood?
Are they pretty defiant?
Like, am I a leader?
Like, what is the situation?
And they literally have answers for all of it because I think that is a pretty important part of the entire
voice over thing.
So it was an honor to be a part of that.
My daughter watches a lot of animated movies at this stage.
She's three in like five months or whatever, three years old.
So she's in it.
She loves Disney.
So this opportunity was more than anybody can imagine.
Whenever she watches, she's kind of found out, you know,
because it's been talked about.
So she kind of knows what to expect, but she doesn't.
But I think as she's watching Hex,
which is about witches and wizards, I do believe,
and some magic.
And it's a Disney animation movie, so it's going to be.
Awesome.
Great.
It's going to be absolutely great.
The moment where she hears my voice is going to be a cool,
that's going to be a pretty cool moment here and I.
I love that girl so much.
And then Tulsa King.
not a lot. I'm not in there a lot.
Like a lot of people, I got some messages from people that hate me and say,
thanks for ruining a fucking Tulsa case, my favorite, you know.
And I'm like, I'm not in there a lot.
I am not in there a lot.
I think that was another one where they needed somebody.
Hey, yeah, sure, we'll give it a go and see what it is like.
And I think they would have kicked me out if it was not great.
That is a proper set down there.
Slice Stallone, proper star.
That is a highly, finely tuned machine.
machine that Tulsa King. They are a family. They've been together for a long time. The sets are
immaculate. Everything from it was so professional. It was like I've had a chance to experience
the acting road, which I never had plans to do as such. I think I did say at one point I wanted to be
an actor when I was in college, but now with this world that we're in, it's like I don't,
I don't know if I'm the right person to be doing that. Ari Emanuel, head of TKO, also headed
W.W.E. when I was in W.W.E. I think he was the one who had an idea. I think, you know,
we got an avenue for you.
He's one who presented the idea to me.
Peter Berg movie being the first thing is just an absurd thing.
I try to kill it all.
I don't think you're going to get used to seeing me in acting stuff, though.
Out of respect for the acting.
Because it's a lot of time.
It's a lot of time on set.
It's a lot of time remembering.
It's a lot of time analyzing what you should be like.
And for somebody that has a daily show,
and then also it has a chance to be a part of college game day
and Monday Night Countdown,
which is an honor of a lifetime,
and it is a lot of football, a lot of the time.
But it also calls for, like, me to know what the fuck's going on.
So for that, I got to really dive in.
So for all the other stuff,
I did feel like I was kind of disrespectful to what was happening
while having a full-time job
and the other actors, which I never wanted to be,
but everybody was so welcoming, everybody was so kind,
and no flubs.
Cindy.
Okay?
No flubs.
Hell yeah.
That mosquito bowl was fucking crazy.
go down to Paris Island, try to learn as much possible.
Tom Cruise breaks down what acting is. Do you remember that?
Oh, yeah.
Yep.
That was like a month before filming.
Tom Cruise comes on the show to promote Mission Impossible, I think.
Yep.
And after we go off air, I go, hey, let's say a friend of mine is going to be in a fucking
Peterberg Netflix World War II movie.
Okay, it's going to be pretty big.
What would you tell that person if it was their first time acting?
And he goes, is this friend you?
And I go, yes.
And he goes, doesn't blink.
What was it?
like seven minutes.
At least.
You need to go train with the DIs.
You need to go down to Parris Island.
You need to learn what it is.
And whenever you get in there, pick up the mannerisms, pick up the thing,
and then when you get on set, you'll just be.
Okay, so all the work is into preparation.
Then whenever you're on set, you just be.
I'm like, thank you so much, Tom.
And he said, good luck.
And then gets up and leave.
So it was out of a movie or whatever.
So I go down to Parris Island literally the next weekend.
I try to learn as much as possible.
First Sergeant Gartland, who I went to high school,
who was a D.I. for eight years.
Call him immediately.
Hey, I need everything you got.
He's actually in the movie now.
His voice was in the newest trailer.
He's in the movie, which is awesome.
I'm so happy for him, especially because how big of a badass he is,
how kind he was to me.
But also, he was the plug to a lot of things for me to learn what the hell of
D.I. is supposed to be because he was eight-year D.I.
At Parris Island, which is, I don't know how you do it.
He's a madman, but that is who you're trying to be as a D.I is like this person.
So first scene in Australia, this is, what, two weeks before football season starts.
Yeah.
like hey need you to go to australia for 11 days it's like yeah right i can't fucking do that
this is football season i think we'll get you back before football season the travel takes
a certain amount of days and then we're gonna have to you're in multiple things now we're
going to have to do this and i go it's an honor thank you i'll do it i go down there i was not
thrilled that i was doing it i thought i was not going to do good i thought i was going to disrespect
the marine corps and also i'm fucking up my day job not knowing football for 10 days going into
football season and Australia's the other side of the world. First scene I'm in is I mean it's
fucking me. It is hey you got like a seven minute monologue here where you got to go and talk to
six different there's 90 guys that are recruits that are showing up in Paris Island and I'm the
head di in front of them so these fuckers are pulling in on trucks that that truck that truck that you saw
in the trailer there's three of them they come on they got an entire train station in
Australia that they've shut down and turned into Paris Island. They got, I don't know how many
millions of dollars worth of cameras on either side. Peter Berg's over here, an entire set, an entire
crew, and I'm just standing at the end of this tunnel, basically, this massive thing with all these
different cameras. Three trucks are rolling in, filled with actors, people that have been working
their ass off in Australia for three months to make this movie. All the camera people, badasses,
moving everywhere. So much money invested into the scene. And I'm standing at the end of it,
just fucking waiting for these.
Three trucks of people come around.
Cameras start sliding and moving.
Lights start going in.
And I'm standing there like, man.
Tom Cruise said just be, you know?
And I'm like, what I think I'm about to be is a man with a little bit of shit in my pants.
These guys, from my understanding, we're making a great movie.
Like, when I got there, the vibes were very high about the movie there piece and together.
And this entire fucking thing is, I mean, this is literally on me.
First time I got a chance to really feel like the, like, right before going out the punt or right before, like, hey, have to perform.
form here. Like this is what it is. So it felt really good to get to do that. And I don't think I
wasting time or money or anybody's energy through that thing. But that was a big deal for me.
It's like, can't fuck up. I can't be the reason why they're sending three trucks back,
resetting 10 cameras, especially we got Shakespearean trained Thespians. I think all these actors
were like Scars Guard, Nicholson's kid, Tom Francis, Goutz. These guys are all
like super duper actors, not just like, hey, I act for a living.
They're like the superest of actors.
From my understanding, there was a little bit of a disagreement on me being casted as the guy
who's never acted before by some of their agents potentially.
Some of their agents were like, so let me get this straight.
Sports guy from America is the DIY who's yelling at our guys for three hours on set
as we take a break from everything else to shoot this.
And Peter Berg had my back the entire time.
time. He's right for it. He's right for it. And Peter
coached my ass up. He is
a gem. He's an angel. I'm very thankful for the opportunity
and I hope I don't suck in this movie because I've heard
the movie is incredible.
Now I've gotten text from people that said they didn't
even know it was me, which I think is
what's supposed to happen in this. But I see the trailer and I see my fucking big
dumb head and I go, I know it's me, bro. I know it's
me. And the acting world is crazy. It's been cool to do.
Whole different part of your brain, AJ.
Like you guys had to memorize plays and shit.
So I guess that is a part of your guys' life?
No.
People think it's easy.
I think people think acting is easy.
I think it seems daunting to try that.
It was daunting.
That is a good way for how I felt probably standing at the end of that thing as they're
setting up all of this shit just for me, basically.
And it's like, it's my first time fucking doing this.
Here we go.
And I think it was seven and a half minutes as I just walked through.
And then we did that 30 times.
They were from the top.
And then as I'm doing it,
Peter Berg has like a little microphone.
And he goes, try Fifi Fofo Fum on the next guy.
So like as I'm doing it on this one,
the Scars Guard was tall.
So what I was going to go over to him is talk about how big he was
because he's a football guy.
As I'm doing it to one guy, Peter Berg's talking about me
for the next line to do this one.
So I go over and as I get to him,
Fifi, and it's like, okay, I think I'm proving my chops here a little bit.
But I was scrambled the whole fucking time.
And Peter, fun, fun fact,
I'm supposed to go talk to these guys.
and the way I memorized it was like this one
this line will lead me to this line
this line will lead me to this line
this line this line will lead me to this line
and I studied my ass off
four weeks probably three four weeks
which is the amount of time I had to not fuck it up
when he gets there let's start with the third guy
let's go to the second guy
wrap it up with the first guy
then we'll go to the seventh guy and I go
oh no oh no
but you have to act as if literally
you're acting in there
and it was like, Peter, that's a lot of, the brain found it, thank God,
and he walked me through it, as did all the actors.
I think that movie's going to be a good depiction of America and Americans at their absolute best.
And signing up for something much bigger than them whenever they didn't have to,
in our history of what we've done to help this world,
I think Mosquito Bowl is going to remind a lot of people in America,
maybe not the worst place on Earth, you know.
A lot of things have had to happen for us to get here,
and there's a lot of incredible humans who have sacrificed a lot for our country,
and I think the mosquito bowl will showcase that.
And I'm honored to be a part of it.
Oh, yeah.
And if I suck, just don't tell me.
They probably cut you out.
I was going to say, your role would have been cut down big time
if you would have sucked.
Wouldn't it be in the trailer?
So the Tulsa King people, when I was down there,
they're so cool.
That is a cool group of people.
That is a cool group of people.
Sly obviously leads that entire thing.
Watching him work is crazy.
But I thanked them a couple times
for allowing me the opportunity to do this.
And every one of them were like,
hey, bud, don't worry.
You fucked this up.
You were not just, this is not like a mega wish.
Yeah, right.
I'm like, all right, all right, all right, all right, all, right, all, right, you got it, you got it.
Like, so me getting dropped in a deep end with the incredibly talented people that I did
and how kind they were, I'm very grateful for it.
But I don't think this is going to become a new norm.
I don't think it's going to become a new norm.
They were talking about me potentially trying to get a new role because already talked
about it whenever a roll the call is promotion and everything like that.
It's like, that movie decision was made, yeah, right.
I should not be having four full-time jobs.
and then getting into something that incredible.
But at one point that was talked about.
So I think it is real, but like, yeah, right,
I should not be doing that.
Until I have time, until I have time to focus on it,
I loved the process, I love doing it,
but it all takes a lot of time
and a lot of mental energy and capacity.
And I can't wait to see how it all comes out.
I can't wait.
Hex was crazy though, that was a wild thing.
Hey, you got 20 minutes tomorrow?
Yeah.
All right, you wanna be a rat in a Disney animation movie?
movie?
Sure.
I guess.
Where am I go?
Do I have to fly anywhere?
No, just do a Thunderdome do it via Zoom call.
Sick.
Perfect.
All right.
Do I get the lines?
Ah, they're working on those right now.
So I got lines like 20 minutes before I want live on that thing.
Wasn't a lot of lines, so it's not that big of a deal.
But it is, I'm happy the old brain still works with the memory thing because it felt like I was back in school.
And every game day it feels like that too where I need to get sacrament.
Tone, it's got a hammer.
Tone, as we go through.
what I need for reviews for college game day each week.
Need a Sacramento State update.
I can't have these group of six people coming after me.
To be clear, I was the last one in on the Super Dogs picks.
A lot of picks were already taken.
So, like, the only one I really saw is fucking Sacramento State would do it for me.
I needed it.
And I shouldn't have said what I said about not knowing anything about them.
I should have said, these guys are probably going to get smacked.
Seems like they get smacked every fucking week, but hopefully they don't do it this week.
But instead I said, I don't know anything about these guys.
And that was me telling gamblers who potentially follow me,
hey, this is not like a calculated pick here.
But I need to start learning more.
As somebody who is a massive, lucky enough to be a massive piece of college football,
I do need to learn more about them.
So let's maybe start adding that into the conversations throughout the week and such.
Okay, yeah, yeah.
I mean, SAC State, first year in the FBS.
They are part of Maction up in Sacramento.
and to be a part of Maxion, they actually have to pay for all the away teams to come play at their stadium this year.
So there's a fun fact.
Okay, that's a good piece of information.
Now we know more.
Let's continue to do that throughout the year.
Let's do a group of six fun facts.
Okay.
Let's do that.
Okay?
Yeah, I could do that for it.
What about Bowling Green?
Can you tell me a bowling game?
Because they smacked Sacramento State around.
Eddie George.
There was a cool picture of them floating around the internet, I believe, with Eddie George.
Bulley Green, you know, a traditional Mac powerhouse
in Ohio, so that's all I got for you on Bull and Creek, really.
Sounds like you don't know anything about it either.
Urban Meyer coach there?
Yeah.
Yeah, he did.
Oh, yeah, he did.
Long time ago.
Who's the quarterback that Drew is?
Yep, and ran.
Was not a quarterback in the NFL.
Was it a return on the NFL?
I remember Maxian on Wednesday nights.
So I think...
We'll get there.
You got to wait for the weather.
Right now we have a fun belt
in partying the QSA.
right now, and then once the weather turns, we'll get back.
I was committed to Kent State.
Okay?
So I was going to be a golden flash.
You were?
Yeah.
You and Edelman?
Would have been the same recruiting class.
Yeah.
Would have been the same recruiting class.
And I went, made a 65-yard or down in Florida, missed a 70-yard or wide ride, flew back, got offered a scholarship to West Virginia and next state.
And then I had talked to the coaches of Kent State.
They were the only ones that made an offer for me and tell them, sorry about it.
I just.
It's a much better opportunity.
I can't do this.
They were not happy.
They were not happy.
They were very nice to be.
Very cool to me. Kent State people were great.
I wouldn't have a good time on their campus.
We had a great time. A couple visits.
Yeah. Got introduced to some stuff.
Official visits are great.
Jungle juice. I didn't know we had jungle juice going on in this thing.
Where am I headed? Go up to the bathtub up there.
That doesn't sound weird at all, boys. Let's go up there.
What is this? This is what you need.
Not that Kent State football players are doing it.
These are people I just knew at Ken State.
Sure. Not the football team. They were offering that up to me.
But I had a blast on my official visits to Kent State.
And then I went to West Virginia on an official visit.
I had a pretty good time there, too.
I'm sure you did.
I went on a couple unofficial visits to West Virginia before that official visit
because a lot of kids from Plum were going down there.
I think I knew the school pretty good when I was signing up for.
I think I was made for it.
It's a quick little drive.
People don't realize how close it is to Pittsburgh.
Especially the moon.
Oh, yeah, right there.
Why didn't you go?
I don't know.
They had a pretty good recruiting class.
I loved the coaches there.
Trickett was tough.
Trickett was tough to, I mean, he just yelled at everybody.
for an hour and a half straight during the spring practice
I went to, Tony Gibson, all the boys, they were all down there.
Love Tony Gibson, head coach and Marshall now.
Rich Rodriguez, back at West Virginia.
I picked them to win to Big 12th.
Ton, is that going to have, do we have a path?
Their defense sucks, dude.
Sorry, that came off very middish, which I do not like to do.
But it's real. Whitey, Big Whitey, Justin,
he put a tweet out in the middle of the game this past weekend and said,
what's the opposite of complimentary football?
and I think the right answer would be rude.
Like I think West Virginia plays like rude football.
The offense, good.
We can move all of a sudden.
Zach Alley, former defense coordinator for Oklahoma,
just hasn't been able to piece together on a defense side at all.
I mean, we're not getting stops.
It's games.
Not getting a single stop.
Well, you got, I mean, Big 12 has some really good offenses.
I mean, it started with Messdemaker.
You got Mestemakered, which, you know, everyone's getting messed to maker.
He's awesome.
Arizona is with Noah Fafita.
That's a really good quarterback.
Iowa State.
Iowa State.
That's a tough one.
That's a tough one.
That's a lot of fucking losses.
I didn't know we had this many losses as you guys are rattling these things off.
I'm happy you guys all know what's going on there so well.
Okay.
Is there still an avenue for us to win the Big 12th?
No.
Damn.
It's a good run.
No chance at all.
If you went out, maybe.
But you know, you got Utah and Houston and Texas Tech sitting there.
Well, in Cincinnati and T.
Kansas are going to be tough for you guys too.
It was all good just three weeks ago.
You know?
I could say.
the same thing.
Yeah, but on that note,
you guys can't be as shitty as you guys are
with what you got doing.
Three and nine is going to be tough.
Who?
Four.
You think Penn State?
No, I think he means these guys.
They'll beat Cincinnati.
They'll win this weekend.
You guys will always have Virginia.
Cincinnati is who we're hoping we beat.
Yeah.
Everything goes right.
West Virginia, Cincinnati is a long.
That's on TNT there.
Yep.
All right.
TCU at TCU.
We should get that one, right, Tone?
We should get TCU.
Maybe not.
On a good day.
On a good day.
Texas Tech, we already know what Cody Campbell's been saying.
Okay, so Western J.
Boys can be all pissed off at oil man down there
for everything he's done.
Kansas, you got, Kansas at home, you should.
You'll be favored, I think.
Nah, they got a good offensive coordinator down there.
Andy Coddlenicki?
Coddlenicki.
He was terrible at Penn State,
but I guess he's good again.
SIG is stealing plays from him.
SIG said he stole a fourth down play from Codellinkey.
Wow.
The guy just couldn't do it for Penn State there, but he certainly got it.
That's why he got the job over at Penn State.
Houston's got them swangers on it.
I don't like that.
We got to play them.
And then Utah to wrap it up, that's where we shock the world.
We still got a road, and I believe a Rich Rod and the Lads.
Got to get a stop at some point on the defensive side, though.
Just one time get off the field.
Actually, not necessary, really, because you can just take the over, and it's awesome,
because every week you know.
Like, WVU is going to score 30 points at least because Richrod's got it going,
and their defense is me.
So the over is the best part of my Saturday, actually.
AJ, this is Rich Rod's second year now.
We've just lost three straight.
It's getting real loud over there.
You got a top 25 win.
What's that mean?
We're not you.
No one expected it this quick, right?
No one expecting to turn around like that.
You can't be the top 25.
Kevin Brown.
Is Bull out of oldger bitty still a thing?
So the issue is what AQ just brought up about Trickett
and about Rich Rod.
it's like if he's got the right people in there,
they'll want to build that and stay and stay in the fire.
But I think we're going to find out if he has that or not.
It's not just the West Virginia.
It's a lot of teams.
Like as your team starts to not go playoff bond,
and you've got NIL deals,
and you got guys making decisions on what next year looks like right now,
and you got agents saying, hey, don't get hurt right now on this team.
They're going nowhere.
We can potentially go to somewhere else and do that.
Now, granted, are they lying to those players,
or this player is definitely not getting the look that they think they are?
Probably.
But there's a lot more business decisions happening now
because it is a big-time business.
You guys got to worry about that at Penn State too.
Oh, yeah.
Big time.
I'm very worried for Oregon.
That could be like a mass exodus.
A lot of money up there.
And all those guys, you know, you have your pick of the litter.
You leave there.
You can go any SEC school you want, any Big Ten school you want.
A lot of those guys from the southeast, too.
Yes.
So.
By the way, the Mountaineers are 6-0.
over. So to Connor's point, yeah, you can just do that. So fun.
63.5 right now. I mean, if you're a freshman, if you're a freshman on any bad team,
including the Mac, every coach is going to take that person in a transfer portal over any high
school recruit because they got experience at this point. So that's, that's what you're battling
against at this point. Yeah, you guys need to watch your ass up at Penn State.
Yeah, we're right in that mix. How many wins you guys got this year?
Three. How many losses? Three, three, two, three and three?
you guys can still save it
three lost teams have made the playoffs every year
huge game this week
at Michigan
oh
at Michigan
oh oh oh
don't do it
we aren't
I knew you were going to do it
don't do it
that we aren't or we are Iowa State
no the we aren't
that's what you've been saying
that's not what I've been saying
you said this is not what Penn State's supposed to be
so that would make
we don't change the song
State.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
We aren't Penn State.
How was the Whiteout game?
They got beat.
Great atmosphere.
They just lost USC.
114,000, most ever at Beaver Stadium.
Still showing up.
Came to watch that.
So I think I read a stat.
The top five highest attended Penn State games, you guys have lost all of them?
No.
Yes, that is the set that's going around.
Is that a fair?
Yeah.
Really?
Yeah, it's on Twitter.
It's going around right now.
I think I saw it.
So every big game.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, we aren't.
If it makes you feel better, James Franklin just lost a cow with a backup quarterback.
Yeah, so I saw that.
And he got beat by Pitt the week before, right?
Yeah, with another backup.
What, do you want, do you want, so I thought we were appreciative of what James Franklin did?
Very much, but I just saw that that happened.
I saw it.
So it was very controversial, the kick.
What did you think?
You think it was in?
There's one person that can really tell that
and that's that ref.
If he happened to blink or have a cock eye,
which we don't know,
I hope they don't have lazy eye guys underneath the uprights,
but maybe they do cross-eyed lazy-eye guys.
I mean, I saw angles that showed both, right?
Yeah.
If you're over to the right of that field goal post,
that view shows, oh, yeah, he missed it.
The other 58 showed he made it.
Here is the...
Can we put laser on the top of the things?
No.
I mean, yes.
I mean, I think I don't want to call for
everything being reviewable, but
Pat Narduzzi got interviewed six seconds
after this. So there wasn't even
a thought. It was no good game over.
See you later. Nardu's saying
Hey, Rees Davis, why don't you fucking
put us in and talk 25?
That was literally what happened.
So I think everybody was just kind of
gobsmacked by how quickly
they just moved on without even getting a second
look at it, but I don't think you're even allowed a second look at it.
That one ref right there.
It's his decision. Or her decision.
And the one under the other field goal post is just looking at that guy.
What do you say, dude?
I look like he could have been over here.
He's like, no good.
He's like, yeah, sure.
And then there's probably some reps on that crew.
They were like, eh, uh, are you sure?
No, let's get the fuck out here.
He's going to kill me.
He had no idea what he'd done.
And then he saw the clock go down his ear.
He goes, oh, fuck me.
Let's get the fuck out of here.
Narduzzi, big high five.
Yeah.
Good call.
I love Narduzzi.
He was.
fantastic on game day.
I would him buckling over
whenever he finds out that Reese Davis
didn't rank him.
Holding the ball.
Hey, you win this game
or you hit this crossbar?
Reese Davis will put you at number one
in his poll next week.
What do you have us in last week's poll?
Unranked.
Reese.
Wake up, Reese.
Wake the hell up.
Then he loses in North Carolina.
Yeah.
Bill Belichick was going to have something for him.
I picked North Carolina,
not just because West Virginia
pit stuff,
but because backup quarterback.
Bill.
And Bill.
I think Bill is not a stupid football person.
I think he,
I think he's going to make life miserable for some people.
They're going to get blown out, I assume.
They're going to get outclassed by people.
But I think if you're a middle of the road team,
Bill Belichick has certainly ample opportunity to beat you.
And that's just us maybe being a little biased towards that
because he's great NFL coach of all time.
So we assume he's going to be a good college football coach.
It didn't look like that.
last year. They didn't even have a recruiting class last year.
I think if you listen to them talking about it all,
while under fire a lot, they're under siege
a lot with a lot of distractions.
And then did you see after the game?
Player said, hey, you take a lot of shit for us.
We appreciate you. First ranked when they gave him a ball.
And then they celebrated with him and Bill was smiling.
It felt like he actually has a little bit of a culture
setting there somehow. I don't know how he's been able to do it.
But I think North Carolina would be a problem for teams.
They can get smacked, I think.
Could get smacked by teams that have five stars across the board.
But I think if you don't have that,
I think.
Well, he's in the perfect conference
because that conference doesn't have a whole ton of teams
with five stars across the board.
Yeah, Miami's really the only one, right?
Miami, I would say, down in the ACC,
the only team that is packed to the gills
with five-star town.
Not that that's what you need to win it all,
but it seems like when the big games come,
they do end up winning.
Florida State seems to pay a lot of players,
but they don't seem to do the winning part of it,
but they are paying a lot of people.
Congrats to Bill, though.
He had to be so happy in there.
Yeah, that's cool.
I mean, he's not a first ballot hall of famer
for the pro football Hall of Fame now.
But he's been to the mountaintop a few times.
And we talked to Mack Brown about this at the end of his run at Texas,
where he said, if you win, it's a relief, and if you lose, it's devastating.
I think Bill got like that in the NFL.
I think there wasn't a...
For sure.
That's why we're on in Cincinnati.
We don't give a fuck.
We're not celebrating any of this.
In college, maybe he has a little bit more of,
hey, this is hard, let's enjoy this.
And maybe he enjoys the young bucks that he's trying to mold into adults
more than he did necessarily the NFL style, E.J.
I think it's definitely possible where that young energy can keep you young
and he was in the NFL for so long you get back there and you feel those
yeah many different aspects of life obviously but as far as coaching these youngsters
I think it can like he thought about jumping around dancing a little bit when they were
celebrating and gave him that ball you could tell like he crossed his mind maybe I will
like break out one of my own moves yeah I think some of his former players probably
looking at him in there smiling and giddy after beating pit on a Saturday in the early season
and go who the fuck is this guy and it's like well it's North Carolina
Bill. And it feels like North Carolina
Bill has a team and has an appreciation
for what they're able to accomplish, especially
with how it's gone thus far.
All right, let's chitch out about something we all need to
learn more about. You definitely.
Let's go.
Connor, you definitely
need to learn a little bit more about it. Yeah,
I know. And Ty, the lack of respect you have
for this entire genre
stuff that we're about to do, I don't like it.
Not true. I think I'm going to be
pretty invested in today's version, actually.
Oh, you all? I think so.
interesting. AJ, I know you know a lot about defenses, but I don't think there's enough
conversation about that good D. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for everything D.B. Good D.
Good D with D. Ball. Let's sling some good D for these people. Yeah, it's been a lot of Packers
taped today and we got some more. Xavier McKinney, one of the players that are tied for the lead
and interceptions. The Packers are actually leading the NFL interceptions of seven. He got three
of them and two from this week. You can see from this rip.
Kind of showing maybe quarters, maybe single high, they're going to rotate and be covered too.
I want you to watch.
You saw the shell.
You saw the corners.
You saw the safeties.
Watch this hook-curl defender, Javon Bullard.
We always talk about playing high or low when you're that underneath defender, getting your depth, getting to your spot, reading the quarterback.
He does a great job here.
Feeling that route, not even having to look back and see it, just filling that route kind of bend in.
And then getting that tip, we always talk about tips and overthrows.
He got a tip.
Xavier McKinney, one of the best in the business, even from his days.
as a New York giant getting that ball, man.
Great job by 2-9, but it started with seven getting his underneath drop doing his 1-11th.
John Gannon had the boys with fire in their gut it felt like, Todd?
Yeah, he's been very good, especially with all the injuries that they've had.
But I think all Packers, I mean, I'm ecstatic.
He's done an unbelievable job through five weeks.
Does Hathley finally get you guys a good defense?
Yes.
And he's gone.
Yeah, gut it to see him go.
Javon Bullard, we talked about that Peach Bowl game.
He was the player that knocked Marvin Harrison out of that game.
Marvin Harrison was doing.
damage was killing it and he smacked him in the back of his own another one here another one
wow i know hey packers this is the one that got uh the bagman benched out there i guess ben
johnson and saw enough you saw it there with the pre-snap disguise going to a single high and now
he just kind of becomes that backside hook curl defender i don't think the bagman ever sees him
sneaking back peeking back and boop back talked about tip that was an overthrow and this is the one
Ben Johnson just said I got enough. Case Keenham came in. He didn't do much better.
Zaire Franklin here is showing mugged up. He's going to drop back and you see he's trying to beat
44, get it over. We talk about layered throws. Never see he's 29 coming from the backside.
Zaire said he heard about them talking about him. Is that what he said he came out?
He's seemingly a vocal leader for you guys immediately. We miss his tackles here in Indiana.
Yeah, he's a very vocal leader. Very, and from what I can tell, very well respected and liked by his teammates.
And he's played good football. Yeah, a lot.
him now more than ever because, you know, Edric Cooper was kind of the guy there and then he
tears his Achilles. So it's like, all right, Zaire, we really need you to step up here.
Yeah. If this secondary can keep playing at a level and once Micah gets back out there and he's
anything close to what we know Micah to be, which we expect, that could be an ugly, ugly defense
down the stretch. And here we are our 49ers. Renardo Green, he, I believe he was on the first
week when they played the Rams. He was the first interception on everything to be.
It's a five-man pressure, not their typical, you know, zone.
High school zone defense.
It's more of a three under three deep.
But for corners, that's pretty much man to man.
And right now he's on the island with the best wide receiver in the league, Jackson Smith and Jigba.
He's all over this route.
Third and 10 sits at the sticks, very patient and then finishes the play.
We talk about catch the ones they throw to you.
Did the hard job.
Eyes back, break, made the catch, got his elbow down.
It's a catch.
It's an interception.
He had two, right?
He had two.
And then there was also two fumble recoveries for the San Francisco defense.
Four turnovers by the San Frane defense.
I think there was seven in total.
There was one on a kickoff, though, I believe.
And then I forget what, nonetheless.
They scored 21 points, I think, off of these four turnovers.
San Francisco 49ers, complimentary football times.
Yeah, the other one was from a detackle, penetrated,
and it was damn, I think, a fumble in the end zone.
Then Fred Warner had one that was near the 49ers end zone as well,
but a punchout.
And then Renato Green had another one,
on the crossing route where he undercut the Sam Dano throw in the answer.
Who's their D.C. over there?
Rahim Morris.
Rahim Morris.
Golly. These go through
head coaches at D.C.'s. Yeah, smart.
Yeah, it's a smart decision.
Salah, is he supposed to be a D.C. or a head coach?
Probably D.C.
Unbelievable defense coordinator.
Anytime you're a defense coordinator and you get a head coaching job,
you have to be unbelievable. You have to be game-changing.
He's gotten two head coaching jobs.
Yep.
Now, would anybody be able to win in Tennessee?
Boy.
That's a quarterback.
Sounds like no.
They got the coach this weekend. Jesus.
They better.
They're going to.
We pray to the football gods
that during Adam Venetieri's
Ring of Honor Ceremony,
it is a joyful occasion
against the team that has been in the
Shite
Division for a long time.
We love Nashville.
Love the city.
Some say we try to cut our teeth down there.
We love the uniforms.
Love the history.
I want to punt pass and kick there as a 15-year-old
National Championship. I love Nashville.
their team has not been a good football team for a long time.
And should we put more on Sala and Dave won their first year?
Should we let them kind of maybe recreate their own culture?
I mean, that's kind of the entire question of it all, Ty.
Bob Sala's career win percentage is 32.8%.
It was the Jets and it's the Titans.
He's 20 and 41.
I think at a certain point, 61 games, that's a pretty decent sample size.
Bob Sala is an unbelievable defensive coordinator.
I don't know if he's a great head coach.
I think he picks places based on
defenses and defensive players and never worries about the quarterback.
And you can also argue like...
No, Cam Ward.
Number one of one pick.
Brian Davey.
Have you watched?
That was a great...
Yes, I have.
But I'm saying when he takes the job, he thinks...
Yeah, but you have to watch the tape.
There was no...
Like, you can't just be...
Number one...
Number one pick.
Yeah, he's going to be great.
It's a 50% bust rate in the first round over time.
Let's be very clear about that.
Number one pick.
No, he's generational.
Paizano...
And that's also another thing that the Titans have restructured
their leadership, like, executive roles.
They do that like every six months.
Like these guys fucking suck, get them out.
We're going to get three new people.
They've done that so many times over the last, like, a year and a half.
Can't beat the courts this weekend.
Can't.
They won't.
If you get that job, you got these coaches got egos, just like players got it.
I can fix it.
I can make some hires you hire Brian Debaugh.
I'm sure he has some type of relationship with Brian Debaugh's success.
in college and the pros.
Hire him. He'll fix the offense. I'll handle the defense.
We fix the offense. Sometimes it doesn't work.
This is just like guys, whenever there's 60, 70 percent they can play,
but they choose not to put bad film out there.
Dayball goes to the Jets and the Titans.
And he's getting his stats thrown at him about Win Wallace record.
He should just stay out of the conversation maybe, wait until a good one goes.
But will there ever be a good one?
And will he ever turn around the Titans maybe?
I don't think so, but also not a bad idea because he knows he can just go be a D.C.
Hey, I'll get a nice little bump.
I'll go over there.
We'll fucking suck for two years.
I'll get chick canned,
and then I'll go do the, you know,
hang out with my buddy Matt LaFloor in Green Bay for a little bit,
take a year off, boom, go be a D.C. somewhere.
Nineers.
Be great again.
Niners. Go back to the Niners.
And we'll reese.
That is his cycle, and that's okay.
And he gets to live in Nashville, which is awesome.
Exactly.
I think he built like a sweet compound down there
because he's got a massive family, a bunch of kids.
Yeah, he's got like eight kids.
Yeah.
He always gives credit to his wife.
He does.
But he feels like he does have six equipment managers.
to come alongside at training camp.
You think that maybe help everything,
but they haven't been able to win.
They can't win this weekend.
They won't.
They better not.
They won't.
I guarantee a Colts win.
Okay.
Right now.
I like that.
Guarantee.
I like that.
That's how confident I am.
That's my best bet of the week.
Colts, mine is 50.
I'm on a cold too.
AJ, you haven't talked to 20 minutes.
I'm making an early pick with the Colts, I got to trust my instincts.
I don't.
I don't like any of that.
Coles minus 15, JT2 Tuds,
under team total, Tennessee.
They fucking suck, man.
With no hope.
Some teams suck with hope.
Let's talk about another defensive coordinator with good D
that could be a head coach.
There's a lot coming out about that entire process as we speak,
but there's a lot of compliments being showered this way as well.
Absolutely.
Could be a head coach.
Won't be a head coach until the lawsuit with the NFL is settled.
But if he had eight kids,
he'll probably blitz all the motherfuckers
or at least line them up like you will
right here we got one two three four five six seven
eight guys in a lot of impression the thing about
watching this Vikings tape regardless of who they're playing
they're going to keep seven in to protect
so knowing that as a defensive guy that is great
you're keeping a running back in you're keeping a tight
in for protection and the quarterbacks
these pressures start to be like ghost pressure
because you line up eight you only send six
the old line the offense in general is the max protection
they did a great job picking it up but if you watch
Chuck, he throws this like he's under pressure off his back foot.
He actually, damn there sprints out to the right side into pressure and throws up to
Brian Murphy for his second interception.
So Brian Murphy Jr. has three interceptions tied with the lead as well.
So watch this AQ.
Watch how they pick this up.
But watch up.
You would think he was under pressure based off this throw.
Tyler.
Like the pocket doesn't get much better than that in any level of football.
And he throws it into a bell and coin.
double move, Chris Oliva, maybe just trusting his got to go up and make a play.
But, I mean, this is a lollipop.
AQ, can you tell me a little bit about B-flow bringing it 90% of the time?
Kevin O'Connell said it's just mental warfare because he's got to go against him in training camp
and he's got to go against him in practice.
For the offensive line, you're trying to figure that out,
quarterback's trying to figure that out, and how do you figure that out?
Yeah, I mean, most of the time, it's the offensive line,
the center's job to figure this whole thing out,
and then the quarterback can change some things right there.
He just signaled something.
Who knows what that is.
Probably told the tight end to stay in, make this max protect,
and then you get the back coast and across.
The problem is what makes them so good on third down
is winning first and second down
because they can't do this if you're sitting in third and three.
They cannot do this.
Like there's too many possibilities.
So what's the down in distance on this?
Third and 12.
There you go.
So like third and six plus, third and seven plus,
that's what allows them to win and get to this.
And Foxx, if you go back to the original copy,
like you'll see at the bottom of the screen,
these two guys are wide-ass open.
Like he runs a deep hook route down here.
and one wide receiver, 14, he's kind of running the seam.
So the coverage part of it isn't really your own point.
The only guy that's in great positions is guy he throws it to.
But like at the top of the drop, you'll see this guy at the bottom.
He's going to come wide-ass open.
But the droppers here are getting out there expecting and crossing.
They're looking up.
Nothing comes inside.
This guy down here, wide-ass open.
You have the time to go through the read, but he was just stuck on Oliva for some reason.
Didn't throw.
But if you look at just watch this guy at the bottom screen, like that's a pitch and catching the NFL.
Fourth quarter, less than three minutes left.
He's been through it for 57 minutes with this defense.
He's seeing ghosts potentially out there.
Here's a stat from Hembo about this Vikings defense as we sling some good D round.
The Vikings defense is 14 to 63 on third down this season.
Their opponents are 0 for 23 on 3rd and 9 or more.
The best third down defense ever is the 2019 Patriots at 24 percent,
so they're obviously outpacing them.
AJ Brian Flores is dictating the game, right?
Isn't that kind of how we can describe this?
Yeah, that's what I love,
A lot of defenses do not dictate the game.
They let the offense dictate to them with their personnel groupings and their motions and ships and everything.
I think Biflow would just say, hey, we can adjust to anything.
He gives his players a lot of freedom, I think, to adjust on the fly.
And they all seem to always be on the same page.
That's the biggest thing I see.
Another Hembo stat.
The Vikings have allowed just 12.8 points per game this season, which is first in the NFL,
and the few is by a 5-0 team since 2019.
Now, they wouldn't be 5-0 if they weren't doing this.
Obviously, the offense has tried to figure it out.
The Vikings have pressured opposing quarterbacks on 50% of their dropbacks.
season. The highest pressure rate in the last 20 seasons is 40% by the 2024 Browns, where
Miles Garrett had 10,000 sacks and everybody else went crazy.
And even when you're not getting pressure, the pressure himself almost.
Like you got a clean pocket, go through your progression.
Nope, I can't have throw it up. I know somebody's coming.
Yeah.
That's good day, baby.
Hell yeah.
AJ, anything we didn't cover that you think we should have talked about?
I want to ask AQ how difficult it really is for those.
when they're showing double a gap pressure.
Like, is that truly as hard as people make it out to be?
Because I know talking to O-Lyman, they always despised it,
and they did not like when we did it.
Yeah, so this one's just a single mug, right?
But what you're talking about with the double A,
you've got two linebackers in there, right?
Here's why it's so hard.
The center has to set back square to start
because you don't know who's going to pick.
You got a punt block, right?
You've got a punt-blok.
You've got to set straight back and kind of put your arms out.
And so then what happens is,
is now you can get a pick from both linebackers,
or now you're setting back so you can't help your guard.
if that linebacker now goes to pick him and they're running a linebacker with that tackle around
and they can do that on either side.
So there's multiple situations there.
And then, oh, by the way, if they do run the pick stunt, now you're passing the stunt off with a running back.
And they're not the best at coming up and handle in that situation.
So yeah.
And then they can bail out of it and still bring four week or four strong.
So you have no idea where it's coming from.
AJ, you did a lot of badass double mugs, didn't you?
Not a whole lot, but it is fun.
Like you can, when you, especially when you and another guy played a lot together,
when you're reading the center.
Like, hey, if he turns to me, the other guy's going to earhole and I'm going to wrap it around.
Like, you do a lot of reading the center, too, when you do that.
That's why when the center does go straight back and he punt blocks, it's the toughest thing for you
because one of you has to fire and go try to earhole.
You can dummy point too, AJ.
That's what the centers do a lot, especially veteran centers.
They'll dummy point.
So, Pat, if you're up in this left A gap and I'm going to you, I'm going to you, I'm going
Connor, Connor, Connor, and then I'm setting to you because they're reading which way I turn
based on the pick.
She was saying clown, clown, clown.
The next thing I say doesn't matter anything, it's a fake hell.
I'm going this way, I'm going this way.
And dumb AJ's like, free shots.
And then they just freeze because they think, oh, we're picking here,
but I'm setting right to the pick.
And it's like, oh, shit, what do we do?
How many times you get an earhold by AJ?
You ever get earhold by AJ?
No.
We didn't do a whole lot of...
He did almost break...
I think I almost broke my forearm against him in one of the games.
I was playing fullback.
I was playing fullback.
I need to cut you if you're playing fullback.
Yeah, I think that's what you did.
And I went down.
I think your helmet got my forearm.
All right.
A lot of people, there's a lot of people cutting AQ, and he was his feedback days.
There's a lot of cutting of AQ.
He was the king of the wedge.
He was the front of the wedge for kickoff return, and he was also a fullback.
They were putting him in motion.
They were having them.
I mean, he was, yep, there it is.
Three-point stance.
Let's utilize the athleticism of our swing interior linemen that we have here on roster.
He's athletic enough to figure it out.
What happened was just massive collision after massive collision after massive collision for a season.
That's why my neck doesn't work.
anymore. That's what ended my career. But yeah, it worked out well there for a little bit.
I got a nice little paycheck out. The worst is when the big fullback cuts you. Like you never
spend my buck 90s blitzing through it. Yeah. Come, bitch. I'll tell you what, that was the first time
I ever realized and saw DeNeil Hunter, though. I remember we were playing the Vikings on Thursday night
and I was playing fullback, but I was lined up as the right wing and we ran a counter to the left.
And so they sent me in motion as the first puller. So they snapped it right when I was like behind the
backside guard and now I'm going down the hill and I got to cut the I got to kick out
daniel hunter and he flew up the field I end up getting just enough a piece it ended up being like
an eight yard run or something but I remember being like who the fuck and what the fuck is that so
fast and so big like he was six eight his his biceps were I mean he built like a Greek god I'm
like what is that a Q comes running over yeah oh yeah yeah best
a Q before you get out of here we need you do something athletic
Come on.
New Jake, Kuse.
I also think this football is seen in a trailer, I think?
Oh, yeah.
Feels like some of you have come here thinking this is a fucking game.
It was hard not to sound like the saw character,
or whatever I was saying that.
Yeah.
I think this is a fucking game.
You would like to play a game.
I would like you to become killers.
That's a thin one.
Yeah, I like it.
I think I got a better chance.
I got a better chance, I think, if it bangs because it's soft.
I thought we talked about this last week.
Just throw it.
Just throw it.
See?
Man, see?
No thought.
If that would account it, if that wouldn't account it,
for anything.
So.
Good warm off.
We were trying to do that throw for Herbie at Coleman Coliseum for that video.
Before we go live, Herbie's throwing 50 of them.
I'm like, yo, stop fucking throw it, because he made like two of them.
I'm like, you, what are you doing?
Like, at least let us have a camera on this thing if you're going to shoot it.
He goes, I just want to feel it.
That's why he was dripping sweat by the time I got there, because he had done there.
I haven't gone there because he had thrown 50 balls.
I'm like, can we fucking film it at least
if you make it? Who knows if you're going to make it?
He goes, well, that's what I do? I want to make it.
Then before we start filming, after I'm yelling at him,
fucking Banks won't in. I'm like, hey,
Dick, can we
please stop for a second?
Wait, who? He says, you got it. Yeah, he did.
He was, he made more than just this
one, but this was the first two
that were on camera. He made probably
six of them off camera, and through
probably 40, 30 of them.
We weren't filming, nobody was ready. He's just
fucking hucking hucking him up there.
Hell, yeah.
Hey, Herbie. He's like, I don't have a fun.
I don't know.
It's Herbie football.
It really was.
And he made it whenever we needed it, which I appreciate.
But boy, there was a couple of moments.
Just like right there.
Like, hey, we're just going to waste one there?
Well, it's not waste one.
Nobody thinks you're making it on your first try anyway.
So let's make sure at least if you do make it, we have a little odds on this thing.
Ty, how many winners should there be?
Let's do, I mean, let's do 25.
No one.
Actually, no one has made one yet.
No.
Oh, yeah.
So 25 winners?
Yeah.
$500.
Connor has something to say to you before you throw this.
Just like you just did. I mean, you hit the back room and it barely was a little too far.
Don't think about it. Just step into it and throw it.
Now, we're trying to make you think about it, though, because this is $12,500,000 that's going out of the door to a bunch of people that certainly deserve it because they support the program.
And they're very kind, and I appreciate them for doing that.
AJ actually has something to say to you before you attempt the impossible, which has put that football into that hoop right over there.
Do it for your old guy, Joe Paul.
Thank you. Let's do this.
There you go.
We'll sit.
25 people, $500.
Put the statue up.
They had it up.
Is it down?
Yeah, they knock that thing down.
Okay, hey, listen.
Well, there's a lot to that.
There is.
A very complicated situation.
All right, we're ready.
I don't know.
Let's go to hammer.
Don, Todd.
Don't anything say to AQ here
as he attempts the impossible
putting that football into that basketball
for 25 people to win $500?
Yeah, AQ, it's a great day
to live free or die hard. Okay?
Think about it. New Hampshire.
All right. Live free or die.
Bingo.
25 people, $500. AQ. Shipley.
The way people will
potentially be selected for this random
winning that's about to happen is you have to
repost this post. You have to say something
nice to somebody, which
I think people should do
more often. And they have to put the
easiest way to digitally pay you in response.
All AQ has to do now
You know, baseball hitters say
Whenever it's a high pitch
All I got to do is just get the wood on it
Now that we have all the rules
And how you can potentially win, all AQ has to do
is just put that ball into that hoop right over there
Wow
25 people could win $500
Head into week six of the NFL season
Wow
You can even maybe take
That $500
This is what I would do
I go right over the best sports book on earth
Yep
And I'm potentially because I'm listening to you guys
I'm responsibly turning that maybe
into a lot more
Taking the Colts.
That's just...
And West Virginia football over.
Bingo. That's going to happen.
All you got to do AQ to make this dream come true for all these people,
25 of them, is put that ball in that hoop right.
You miss it, though?
We're booing out of the building.
Okay.
Don't think about it.
Seems like you've been thinking about it here.
I'm not.
So let it fly.
Yep.
A little bit longer, and I think that may have been good.
Maybe not, though.
Boos.
Boo.
Boo.
Bo.
Bo.
Shippley.
Almost Halloween time.
Speaking of boo.
Oh yeah, let's keep an eye on our skeletons out front.
Yeah, that's right.
Last year we had skeleton theft of the year.
Yep.
We had cameras on these guys.
We had a return of the skeletons.
We had push-ups in the streets.
That's right.
As punishment.
Let's take a sniper position issue.
Yeah, heads will roll this year.
Or explode.
Yeah?
We need to put someone on the roof.
You?
For sure.
Stay up there.
Get those little crocs or canes up there.
Just gave you spot away.
Then I got a funny bush.
Pooby trap.
That's right.
Get a gilly suit and lay right next to it.
Dig a hole.
Air tags already on them just in case you ever wondering.
Stay smart.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Maybe you are a skeleton.
And you just don't move for the entirety of the evening.
And then somebody comes and tries to steal you.
And you say, gotcha bitch.
And then that's when you pull out of it.
That would be so scary.
You got to lock in, though.
You got really lock in because if you move at all, they're going to know.
Like those Vegas guys that are like statues, you know, that are painted in the palette.
I got a, I got a knife as a gift yesterday.
Oh, nice.
That was very kind.
I was very kind of the person that sent up.
Very, very cool.
Surprising that that's what was sent, I did not expect.
I don't think any of us did.
It's a good one.
You want it?
Sure.
It's a very sharp.
Way too sharp of a knife for me just to be receiving.
You can't give that knife.
You can't give it away.
I'm not going to give it away, but you could use it.
He actually said
it should be used for situations
in which you had happened to you last year
so it actually built for the moment.
Let's go.
It's not kill anybody
that's coming to steal skeletons
but certainly scare shit out of
yeah.
Main them.
Yeah.
Great work today.
AQ you didn't want anybody anything but.
It's okay.
Good day, boys.
Dee Butt, way to go today.
Dee Butt.
In this week.
Two boys.
Great work.
How's XO's going?
Match up.
Great.
It's going great.
That's in Philadelphia.
NFL films? Well, I fly in Philadelphia, but he's shout out of Mount
Lower, which is about 30 miles away. NFL Films is right over there. NFL Films.
They got Cordell Stewart documentary coming out. Okay.
NFL Films does. Slash, obviously, big for the city of Pittsburgh. Can't
not wait to learn more about him. NFL film is always in the middle of about
a thousand different things. Literally, a thousand different things.
We are very lucky that we have a chance to do what we've been doing for college.
Now on Monday, Field Pass with Pat Macfrey Show on ESPN 2 Monday Night Live from
San Francisco.
There we go.
Has the Washington commanders and Jaden Daniels
tried to get over the flub
of the century last week?
And that's coming from somebody that was part
of the worst fake punt in the history
of the NFL.
Nobody had a clue what was going on on the offensive side.
Will they be able to rally around that?
Will they be able to come together?
Would Jaden Daniels be able to be true to form?
Like we've seen them in the past?
They could have won that game
or the Giants trades.
They have a tie, but that could have easily been a dub.
He had over a hundred rush.
Should have been a dub.
taking on San Francisco 49ers.
We'll be live on ESPN2.
Can I wait to see how that goes?
And then obviously, all roads lead to us getting a chance to call the Super Bowl.
And then whenever college football playoffs happen,
we're somehow going to be able to do that as well.
We're very grateful and thankful.
We hope you'll hang out with us on ESPN2,
and we are pumped to get out there.
All right, safe travels, D-But.
Thank you, brother.
Safe Travels, AQ Shipley.
Thank you, sir.
To the boys in the back, great work.
Good show, boys.
Good job, boys.
What's going on in soccer?
P.SG's up to nothing on Man City right now.
Member of Man City was the team.
Will this count as a win for their PSG if they beat Man City?
Champions League, so they're still involved.
This all counts for this season because those are Premier League charges.
They cheated in.
But if you cheat in a Premier League, that's how you have to get to the Champions League, right?
If I know it, so would inevitably all come crashing down?
The plot thickens there, yes.
Is Lou Messy part of the first?
He does play tonight.
Messi'll get a snipe tonight for sure.
Oh, fuck you.
Against?
I mean, it's probably minus 750.
No, he's minus 165.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
Who scored for PSG?
D'embele?
Yeah, Dembele got one.
He's so good.
Bobby Barkle, I scored a hat trick for Liverpool as well.
Bobby Barkle?
I like how much you're into soccer because of how great your daughter is and her team is.
I can't wait to continue to follow along with her team, which is the...
SC Del Sol.
S.C. Del Sol out there in Arizona, they got a squad.
Oh, yeah.
Rufus's squad.
Bartholona.
Rufus does all.
Bartholona has an academy out there.
They have an academy out there.
Bartholona does.
In Arizona.
Okay.
Yeah, it's like 40 miles south of me.
Don't love that.
Casa Grande, Arizona.
Stealing all our players.
Stealing our players, but also I think showing how it works.
Hey, come to Bartholona school here, Academy.
These kids are not going to have any social life.
All right?
If we want to be good, this is what it is.
You wake up, you run.
Then you kick the ball.
Then you eat breakfast.
Then you do 20 minutes of school.
You need to know how to read.
Then you do this.
Then you run again.
Then take a little napski.
Then guess what we're doing the afternoon?
More soccer.
We're running again.
And then we're going to do some soccer.
And then congratulations.
We've got study hall.
20 minutes.
And then we're having night conditioning.
And then we're going to bed.
Do it again tomorrow.
And that's how you can potentially become the next.
Let me y'am all.
Did you see what this guy did yesterday?
Hey, fake,
They, eh?
Yeah.
Who's the behind the leg kick?
Who's credited with that one?
Robonia.
Robo.
So he does a fake
Robbogneo,
which is a behind the leg kick.
Let's it roll through as if he's dancing.
I'm going to cross it.
Nope, I'm going to cut it back.
And then I'm going to dose you,
dice you up,
and then I'm going to pass it.
And then this guy's going to score
because that's what I do.
World Cup champion there.
We're never fucking winner.
Never.
Never close.
You kidding me?
Cabin Solving can do that.
No, he can't.
He could.
I don't know if he can.
can do it in that game.
We've got those people.
He could definitely accomplish that, and I have faith in him.
He can do it in the MLS.
You know, he's from Pennsylvania, too?
Yeah.
The main?
No, the Kevin Sullivan.
Yeah, Philadelphia guy.
Yeah, yeah, I know.
Hell yeah.
Yeah, Pennsylvania.
We got, we got, we got, you.
Precian Politi.
Now we got Kevin Sullivan.
Yeah.
Is Polific going to be on the roster going forward?
No.
No, yeah.
They say he's done.
Actually, the young guns right now.
Letting the young lads play.
A lot of time here.
He said he's going on?
No.
Him and Mo Ponch got a fist fight, and Mo Punch, that's it.
Didn't actually get into a fist fight, but Mo Punch is a big, like, hey, you're lucky to be here.
Yeah.
So.
Captain America, my fucking ass.
Actually, new captain is Tyler.
Tyler Adams.
Yeah, friend of the program.
He's got it back because he had it for the last one.
And he found out, I think, at a press conference when Punch was him and Poncher just doing a press conference.
And then Punch goes, this guy, the captain of our team.
And I think Tyler at the real time, fuck, I'm captain of America all of a sudden.
this guy exemplifies everything.
Dog.
I think what Ponch wants, we have.
I don't know if we're ever going to have
Leminium all doing that.
No.
In La Liga.
Who were they playing there?
Is Pontch fucking 6-8?
400 pounds?
Yeah.
He's the size of David Baker.
Or is Tyler Adams fucking 4 to 7?
Tyler Adams casual.
The guy's been running for his whole fucking life.
Ponce is huge, dude.
Tyler Adams is 6-2.
Think about that.
Tyler Adams is sitting down, relaxing.
Because all he's been doing is
cardio his whole fucking life the guy just wants to get a breather he has no idea's about
being announced as captain he sits straight up that's fine he's still sitting directly
next to punch and punch looks like he's the left tackle for the fucking los angeles rams could
have been punch gun with the young guns right now trying to find our team in our culture
team USA's winning the next world cup no we're not yep oh yeah thank you for letting us do
all this uh it's the dumbest life of all time
We're very grateful for it.
If it wasn't for all of you.
We wouldn't get a chance to enjoy.
Ball.
Yeah, I'm actually happy we're not going to win the World Cup.
Because that means our best athletes keep going to football and basketball and baseball.
And those matter a lot more.
Yeah, no, exactly.
Soccer sucks.
Well, let the world have soccer.
Imagine if AQ went to soccer instead of football.
We even fucked.
Exactly.
Or rugby.
How Kelsey do?
Do we get it?
I saw him tackle a guy.
I didn't see many highlights other than a couple pictures.
Yeah, there's just him jogging around in that one video.
There was no real highlight.
It's all a tackle.
It was a good form tackle.
He stood a guy up and buried him.
Yeah.
He said it was in terrible pain.
He said, my body hurts really fun.
That's good.
Right after this.
He fucking, he dropped a guy.
NFL network has the, are they filming all this?
Is him in the back there?
Yep, let me get the ball.
And eat shit, buddy.
Yeah, I'm Jason Kelsey.
Yeah.
Nice. All right.
That's number eight right there.
That's a true number eight right there.
Putting his shoulder into the sternum and burying him through the ground.
I appreciate him doing that.
AJ, we need to see you out there on a rugby pitch.
I don't know.
Rugby's gaining popularity, though.
I know kids that play around here.
I don't know any rules about it.
I don't know how it works, but I know there's kids that are playing.
I know it's a tough-ass sport, but I do know that if you meet a rugby person,
they can drink very well, and they will fight you.
Like, they're okay with the fighting.
I just learned about lacrosse.
I didn't know you guys just put your helmets on it,
box each other whenever you guys are doing that oh yeah do you know that de bud did not know they
they just put their little helmets because i got these gimmick gloves point park school arts in
pitts sick man they got they got some good scy they sent me these mitts here and uh awful my fingers
are a bit fat for them i don't know if this is the right size for me so i can't get all the way in there
but you put these bad boys on and then i guess you pull a lacrosse them and on and then the kids
are just boxing each other yeah i guess it's like an everyday thing we're just fucking fighting in here
Before and after practice.
Did you know that AQ?
I did not know that.
I did not know the cross was go ahead and bapping each other.
No body shots are right.
We're only head shots.
I mean, if you do a body shot, then it's like, okay, we're actually fighting.
When you're just doing head shots, it's just fun, like banter.
Let's fuck around.
What was I doing yesterday?
You know, it's like a catapole here.
When you're throwing it.
Then when he catches your hands up here.
Here you go.
Working on the game.
Cradle.
Got it.
And then there was a little, what's that person called?
I think it's called drill in a band where they throw the little batonnie?
You throw the baton?
Drum major.
Drum major, yep.
That's our thing.
Bruce did one of those with a stick yesterday.
We're playing catch your string.
Throwing it around.
It had a nice little rhythm going.
You don't want to put it right here, AJ.
This is the bucket.
It's where you want to put it at.
I was humming him at a corner right in his face.
I guess that's the worst place you could put it,
but it was hard not to just throw it right at him.
And then I'd miss it, I'd scream goal,
but it was embarrassing.
I missed by 10 yards or whatever it was.
It's not easy to control.
But you put it right in the bucket.
It feels good.
We had a couple relay rolling,
and then Bruce got one
now he did a little fucking twisty woohoo
with the thing and did a little twisty
and then he caught it and then fucking threw it to me
I'm like I did not know we had that
and then I asked Connor if he's ever did it
he goes I don't fucking do that
Powell brothers they came to
like our local high school when I was in middle school
and just did a bunch of stick tricks
did back flips and then shot behind their back
so I picked it up there
and I do have a couple stick tricks in the arsenal
as well as a long
and proud locker boxing resume
Okay, so thank you for being that guy, Bruce, for your teams,
knowing that you were preparing for what was going to happen on the field
in that locker room against your teammates' faces.
The stick trick response from you, I didn't necessarily love.
It felt like you thought that was a little Savannah banana.
No, no.
Yeah, as a thought I said.
I played defense.
I didn't do the cool, fancy stuff.
I didn't care about scoring goals.
I just wanted to fucking chop wood and hit some people.
So then I also learned if you run into a fucker at a game
and he's running forward and he's twirling,
forward, that's a power thing.
That fucker's really good.
That's something that if he's skipping to,
you got me hit you guys.
You better fucking just get ready to get in the blender
from my understanding. It's like growing up when you
would go to the basketball courts, right? Like you're in
like fifth, sixth grade and you see one guy
dribbling up the court like through his legs.
The whole time? Yeah, the whole time like all
the way up, you're like, okay, this guy
has some fucking handles.
That's kind of like with the power cradle is.
So in soccer, and I'm not saying this just because of who I was,
but it did kind of ring true. If you saw
long blonde hair on a kid.
Bowl cut, white
shoes, normally going to be
problematic in the soccer thing.
This is the tell in the lacrosse thing.
If they're running forward and they're
fucking sawing you with
this thing, I guess you're in deep
shit, because there's no way that's as fast as they can run
because they're working completely against their running stride.
And they're also kind of showing you what's coming.
And then they're going to kill you. Learn a lot about lax yesterday.
A lot about lax. Not a bad little sport.
The stick tricks,
seem cute. I don't know how it works
in there, but then as you're running,
you're just spinning this stuff. It's really
sweet. I know. You look cool with the gloves
and the stick on right now, too.
I'm losing finger and feelings. They look
tiny for sure. A little tight in here.
A little small. Thank God for football.
Thank God. Imagine Jemar Chase
was running around. Crossed it.
If we win Olympic gold.
We're still going to win Olympic gold, right?
Yes. I hope so.
Blacks? Team Canada is going to be pretty good.
What about the native team?
If they let that happen, yeah, the reservation team will be very, very good.
We will definitely win women's lacrosse, like, without a shadow of a doubt,
and then maybe, like, Canada's kind of good.
You don't know that?
But we're going to win both.
We'll definitely win women.
You don't know that?
Oh, we know.
We know how many countries play women's lacrosse?
Probably like three.
How many fingers you got?
Yeah.
Fingo.
You got three fingers?
No, no.
I would say there's probably like three countries that play.
Women's Cross, which kind of, not that
I don't think it should be, but why the fuck
are we playing it in the Olympics? We'll be like
three countries can participate.
Who is in the men's?
Oh, I know Japan.
Canada. Canada.
The states.
Uruguay. Mexico, I assume.
Australia. England. Australia.
Uruguay has a
Yeah, Uluquay. Pretty good.
I believe so. Yeah.
I think Kavanaugh might play
for Uluwai. Saudi Arabia.
I don't know.
Chile.
Chile?
Yeah.
Puerto Rico is ranked
six in the world.
Puerto Rico.
Puerto Rico.
Puerto Rico is a U.S.
going on.
Yeah, I don't know why.
Aren't they playing for us?
Australia is not a cross team.
You don't know?
You don't know?
Google it.
All it takes is sticking a chance, pal.
Jesus.
AJ batters that fucking thing around.
I know.
Every time I come back here,
there's a fucking all my shit.
He says,
cleaner or whatever.
It's like, yeah, I know where
fuck everything is though.
So, you know, whenever you move it,
I appreciate what you do to this place.
I do appreciate what you do.
I put it back.
I try to leave it, put it back.
You take a picture beforehand?
Yeah, mentally.
Nice.
Thank you.
Be a friend, tell a friend,
so nice, might change your life
for them to send together.
Thank God for sports.
Hell, you.
Yes.
Week six NFL Eve today.
Week six in the NFL season
kicks off tomorrow.
Let's celebrate that.
College football is about to be gigantic again.
Yeah.
NBA is back.
WMBA's in its finals.
MLBs in its super duper time.
Yep.
Hockey, alive and thriving.
Yeah.
So are we.
Hell yeah.
Safe travels, boys.
Team on me.
Team on three.
One, two, three.
Dave.
Goodbye.
