control by the second over the BBB. Marjorie Taylor Greene's either an idiot or a liar.
Why Pornhub's pulling out of France. YouTube legend Miss Rachel's being attacked with some
even calling on the DOJ to investigate her but she's standing strong. We just got this stark
warning from a Florida weatherman that's got people squirming, and a recent medical mistake
turned into an amazing discovery.
We're talking about all that and much more.
I got a big show for you today
on your brand new Philip DeFranco show.
You daily dive into the news, starting with this.
Trump is facing a mutiny.
And funny enough, it's over Trump's so-called
big, beautiful bill,
and it even includes Republicans
who literally already voted for it.
Starting with yesterday,
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene proving AOC right
and admitting that she voted for the bill
even though she didn't read it,
even though she didn't understand what was in it.
And saying that if she had actually done her job,
she wouldn't have voted for it.
They're specifically flagging a provision of the bill
that would ban states from regulating AI
for the next 10 years.
Writing, I am adamantly opposed to this
and it is a violation of state rights
and I would have voted no if I had known this was in there.
And then adding, this needs to be stripped out in the Senate.
When the OBBB comes back to the house for approval
after Senate changes, I will not vote for it
with this in it.
We should be reducing federal power
and preserving state power, not the other way around.
Right, so there are a few things we need to unpack here.
First, I do want to know that it is not at all uncommon
for lawmakers to stuff big bills like this
with various unrelated measures.
Especially these days, given how polarized Congress is
and how hard it is to even get a bill on the floor
in the first place.
But also, while sometimes more controversial provisions
that get quietly slipped into a bigger bill
and intentionally buried at the last minute,
that's not the case at all here.
With the inclusion of the AI provision,
it got a ton of attention.
Lawmakers openly disgusted on the floor.
It was massive front page news.
We even covered it on the show the week before last.
But, and this does not excuse Marjorie Taylor Greene
because it's her fucking job.
This does appear to have been a major blind spot
for right-wing media.
Because according to an analysis of the initial news
coverage by Ground News, just 8% of the outlets
reporting on that story leaned right.
But again, that just excuses to some degree
and explains why so many right-wingers weren't aware of this.
Does not give a pass to Marjorie Taylor Greene,
who has an obligation to understand the legislation
that she's actively voting for.
She is openly admitting she's blind voting for shit
to make daddy Trump happy.
It's one surprisingly had many dunking on
and going after Marge for this,
that being echoed by a lot of others
who slammed house speaker Mike Johnson
and other GOP leaders
for just ramming this bill through the House.
Right in there noting that Johnson was haggling
with members of his party
and making changes to the bill to get their support
until the very last minute.
So the final version of the legislation
wasn't even finished and moved to the floor until 10.40 PM,
which gave representatives just eight hours
to read a thousand plus page bill.
Which is why then you have so many arguing
at these admissions, it just proves that Johnson
and his leadership team intentionally rushed
through a problematic bill before members
could actually understand it, knowing that if they did,
it wouldn't pass.
With some describing it as Johnson and his team
completing the legislative work
in the most irresponsible ways possible.
But again, it doesn't just fall on GOP leadership.
You can't just make Johnson the scapegoat here, right?
All of the rank and file GOP members who voted for this,
they're responsible.
MPG's admission just exp the she's an incompetent
sheep with many, if not most allowing themselves to be
willfully blindfolded.
So again, I gotta go back.
I have to stress this, the AI provision that MTG opposed,
it was essentially part of the conversation
from the get-go.
The initial text was released May 11,
the same day that the rest of the first BBB draft
was unveiled.
That was well over 10 days before Congress voted on the legislation. And then when you remember the day that the rest of the first BBB draft was unveiled. That was well over 10 days before Congress voted
on the legislation.
And then when you remember the fact
that the provision was actually debated on the floor
and it got so much media coverage, there's no excuse.
Especially if she claims that AI regulation
is such an important issue to her.
And again, while I suspect that no member of the GOP
actually made their way through this bill,
she is also not alone in making the admission that she did.
Because you have things like last week,
Representative Mike Flood admitting
during a town hall meeting that he didn't know
that the BBB had a provision that limited the power
of judges to hold people who violate court orders
in contempt.
With him then saying, if he had known about that measure,
he would not have voted for the bill that he voted for.
The admission that drew boos and jeers from the crowd.
And it left me wondering how many of those people
might have voted for it.
Because you can't elect a clown and then get angry
when the circus comes to town.
And while you know both lawmakers got a lot of flak
for this, their comments actually do carry a lot of weight.
Because remember, the BBB only passed the House
by a single vote.
So one, it wouldn't have gotten through.
And two, if the bill passes in the Senate and it gets back,
these two could actually sway the outcome.
Of course, it's also possible that GOP leaders
will cave to their demands.
Or the Senate could also determine
that those provisions violate the strict rules
governing what can and cannot be included
in a reconciliation bill.
And there's already been speculation
that both the AI and contempt measures might need to go.
But regardless, you know,
it underscores how tenuous the bill's future is.
And not just because it could be torpedoed by MTG or flood.
Because literally just half an hour
after Green's post yesterday, you had Elon Musk writing,
"'I'm sorry, but I just can't stand it anymore.
"'This massive, outrageous, pork-filled congressional
spending bill is a disgusting abomination.
Shame on those who voted for it.
You know you did wrong.
You know it.'"
And then after he wrote,
"'In November next year, we fire all politicians
who betrayed the American people.'"
And then today he took it even further with him responding
to a post made by Senator Mike Lee,
asking if anyone would support an amendment
that made all members of Congress ineligible
for reelection anytime the deficit is over 3%.
With Musk writing, this is the way.
And with that, I'll say Musk's comments
are not exactly the most surprising.
Because while he has been a next level supporter of Trump,
he also last week criticized the bill saying
he was disappointed that it increased the deficit
and didn't include Doge cuts.
So there you also had sources telling multiple outlets
that he really opposed the bill
because it would cut EV tax credits
that massively helped Tesla.
People also saying that he's salty at things
that Trump's done lately, like not keeping him on staff
when the 130 day time limit for his role expired
and withdrawing the nomination of a key ally
who had been tapped to lead NASA.
Whatever the reason may be, I mean, this was massive.
Right, it's Musk's biggest break yet from the president
that he helped install with hundreds of millions
of dollars in donations.
And this is, there's just the sheer magnitude of the post.
Cause you know, I just read a few of them,
but he has been making constant posts criticizing the bill.
So much so that it was basically all that was on his timeline
as I was recording.
But perhaps the most significant is just simply the fact
that just days after leaving the White House,
Musk, it appears, is now trying to use his power
to blackmail or at the very least coerce Republicans
into opposing a package that is literally just full
of Trump's top legislative priorities,
which is an insanely dramatic shift,
but also there's the question of, you know,
will it do anything?
Because you know, Musk was able to successfully tank
a spending bill back in December
after a similar shit storm of posts
and threats to Republicans.
But that was also in large part,
thanks to the fact that Musk's Tweed-o-mania
eventually influenced Trump, who joined his position.
But this time he's against Trump and beyond that,
Musk has also lost a significant amount of popularity,
influence and political capital since he started dozing everything up
You know now he's not even part of the administration
But that said we have seen some Republicans already coming out and echoing Musk's remarks about the BBB
So notably most of them are fiscal hawks who had already voiced reservations about the bill
So it's not like Elon actually influenced them now with that said as far as how Trump has responded the press secretary did say that
Musk's tweets have not changed his opinion.
But also notably as of recording this,
the president himself has not chimed in
beyond sharing a screenshot of a pose that Musk made
last week thanking Trump for letting him run Doge.
But as far as how this is actually gonna shake out,
that remains to be seen.
But the one thing we know for sure
is that there is trouble in paradise.
But then next up today, we've got Ms. Rachel
putting her career on the line
to speak up for children in Gaza.
With her now even explicitly saying she's willing to do so
in an episode of NPR's Here and Now.
And if you're unfamiliar with Miss Rachel,
she is a massively successful YouTube creator though,
even saying that it's very limiting.
She has a YouTube channel where she sings educational songs
for young kids to help with language development.
And she's just huge.
I mean, she's even on Netflix now.
She's like basically the mommy teacher god
for the under five community. With then also millions of parents and others following even on Netflix now. She's like basically the mommy teacher god for the under five community.
With then also millions of parents and others
following her on social media.
Well, that's a space where people generally try
not to rock the boat or get stirred up in any controversy.
Miss Rachel has been branching out from her content
and speaking about Gaza frequently.
Leaders, be so ashamed of your silence.
Be so ashamed that you've seen the same images
and videos that we've all seen, but they haven't moved you've seen the same images and videos
that we've all seen,
but they haven't moved you to do the right thing.
Be so ashamed that you normally speak out for human rights.
You normally speak out for children everywhere,
but you won't now because they're Palestinian.
And you know, with that, while speaking to NPR,
she was asked if she suffered any financial consequences
for using her platform this way.
You're now a brand.
You sell merchandise like toys and books.
Has there been any pushback from financial backers
who are nervous about your brand becoming politicized?
There has been, but I wouldn't be Miss Rachel if I didn't deeply care about all kids.
And I would risk everything and I will risk my career over and over to stand up for them.
It's all about the kids for me.
And that question came up because like many who speak out about what's happening,
she's been facing backlash and criticism.
The same things like last year,
she announced that she was doing a fundraiser
with Save the Children's Emergency Fund
to help kids in conflict zones, including Gaza.
Immediately there you had people accusing her
of not caring about the Israeli children
who were impacted by October 7th.
Notably, she has addressed the backlash
by knowing that she cares for all children
no matter who they are or where they come from.
Though that hasn't stopped people
from labeling her anti-Semitic,
and one group even asking the DOJ to investigate her,
accusing her of spreading pro-Hamas propaganda.
And that's something that we saw Miss Rachel
pushing back against again when talking to NPR.
I care so deeply about every child.
As a teacher, you have children from many different places,
especially in New York City,
and you care exactly the same about them.
That's the basis of everything for me
is that children are equal.
I recently sat down with someone who has a family member
that was taken hostage,
and sitting with her and hearing the harrowing accounts,
And sitting with her and hearing the harrowing accounts, feeling her pain, the anguish, the desperation
to get that loved one home, where that loved one belongs
and have the family be complete.
It's, if you sat with her as well, if you just sat with her,
you would want more than anything for that family
to be whole again and them to not be suffering immensely.
You know, with all this, I think it's worth noting that
while of course she has dealt with her fair share
of critics and attacks, many have also supported
and applauded her for speaking out.
And all of this is you had Miss Rachel saying
that a big part of the reason she felt compelled
to speak on this is because she is a mom
and she was thinking about other moms. As a mom, just the daily things I do with them thinking moms and
guys I can't do this like right now my little one is hungry and I feed her right away and she's
crying and I'm able to comfort her and we have a peaceful environment and it just shakes me to my core that I've met a mother, I've met two mothers
that weren't able to help their little ones.
And so that's the situation as it stands now
and just separately as far as my opinion.
I think if you're calling Miss Rachel
an anti-Semitic Hamas supporter,
I think you're fucking deranged.
She's advocating for children that are being bombed
and starved and what, because she's not parroting
and marching and lockstep with Netanyahu,
she's antisemitic.
So what then all Jewish people who don't agree with
or condone what Netanyahu is doing,
they're antisemitic as well?
And yeah, I largely ask that as a rhetorical question
because we see plenty of people conflating the two
these days.
But hey, that's the news and then separately my opinion.
And now I'd of course love to pass the question off to you,
whether you agree or disagree with me. Let me know
your thoughts on those comments. But then I've got more news
for you in just a minute. But first I gotta say, you know,
adult life, it should come with a warning label about death.
It starts with that, I'll deal with it later energy,
skipping one payment because well, you know, rent exists,
but then it multiplies like little gremlins when they get
wet and suddenly your mailbox looks like a horror movie,
final notice, pay now, legal action pending.
And that, it's why you need to check out today's sponsor,
PDS Debt.
Their approach isn't one size fits all.
They actually look at your specific situation
with credit cards, personal loans, collections,
or those medical bills we bury in the sock drawer.
And you don't have to worry
because there's no minimum credit score required.
I mean, even if your credit's looking like your golf score,
they'll still work to help you pay off your debt faster
and save money in the process.
They're also importantly A plus rated by the BBB
with hundreds of five-star reviews on Google and TrustPilot
because they've helped thousands of people

It's pdsdebt.com slash DeFranco.
But then shifting gears from that news,
Pornhub is using the pullout method in France.
Or I guess I should say more specifically
the parent company, Aloe, is suspending access
to three of its main adult websites in the country,
including not only Pornhub, but also YouPorn and RedTube.
But with this being the way that they're protesting
a French law that requires adult websites
to have users confirm their age
with details like a credit card or ID document.
While the law was actually passed back in 2023.
The deadline to be implemented is Saturday, June 7th.
And so rather than complying when you go to those websites,
they're just displaying a famous painting
depicting the half nude personification of Liberty.
The image essentially is saying,
give us idealist gooning or give us death.
Or I guess more accurately, you had the company saying
that it is communicating directly with the French people
to tell them how dangerous, how potentially privacy infringing and how ineffective the French law is. Or the company saying that it is communicating directly with the French people to tell them how dangerous, how potentially privacy infringing
and how ineffective the French law is.
The company arguing that they're actually extremely
supportive of age verification as a concept.
But then saying what the law does
is not the way to go about it.
And instead they argue that countries
should implement age verification
by targeting the developers of operating systems.
It's a Microsoft's windows, Apple's iOS, Google's Android.
One of their execs even saying Google, Apple and Microsoft
all have the capability
built into their operating system
to verify the age of the user
at the operating system or device level.
And saying that by doing that,
you can do it without requiring users
to share sensitive data with multiple websites, and adding,
I understand that those three entities are large
and they're powerful,
but that is not an excuse for France
to do what they have done.
Though with that, you've also seen a fair share of pushback.
Raise some noting that the French law requires platforms
to offer a third party double blind option
that would keep at least the companies themselves
from seeing users identifying information.
With also the agency responsible
for regulating digital communication,
saying that there are numerous technical solutions
on the market that allow users age to be verified
while ensuring the protection of their personal data.
And we've even had France's digital minister
accusing ALO of being dishonest,
saying lying when one does not want to comply with the law
and holding others hostage is unacceptable.
Adults are free to consume pornography,
but not at the expense of protecting our children.
Within the country's culture minister adding,
good riddance, there will be less violent,
degrading and humiliating content
accessible to minors in France.
Which I will say may end up being true,
and or it'll lead to a rise of new VPN accounts.
Though I will say it's gonna be very interesting
to see how this plays out because the French audience
is actually Pornhub's second largest in the world
after the US.
And then another key factor is it's not just
the French government that's been applying pressure.
Just last week, you had the European Commission
opening an investigation into Pornhub
and three other sites saying that they don't have
the appropriate tools to verify age.
And saying that they're not doing enough
to avoid negative effects on children
as well as users' mental and physical wellbeing.
And that is here in the States,
you have 19 States home to more than a third
of all Americans already passing laws
requiring pornographic websites to confirm a user's age
by checking a government issued ID
or scanning their face among other methods.
I mean, the issue has now even been heard
by the Supreme Court,
which had released a decision this summer.
Though very interesting with the US case
is that the argument against age verification,
it's actually more about free speech than privacy.
But then jumping to other news you need to know,
as many of you, and I guess now Trump's head of FEMA,
are aware, hurricane season officially began on Sunday.
And you've got the NOAA predicting that there will be
between 13 to 19 storms by the end of November.
And that includes three to five major hurricanes,
which I understand is above the historical average.
And knowing whether a storm's gonna hit you ahead of time,
it could make the difference between life and death
for any of you.
Which is also why, one, local weather forecasters
have long been some of the most trusted
and beloved voices on American TV.
And two, so many of them are freaked the hell out.
Right, I mean, you've got John Morales,
a veteran meteorologist with NBC Miami saying,
he can no longer remain confident with his predictions.
And also, if you're finding yourself going,
why does this guy look so familiar?
He's the guy who broke down in tears on live TV last year
while covering Hurricane Milton.
He has dropped 50 millibars in 10 hours.
I apologize.
This is just horrific.
But the reason that John's going viral today
is in this clip, you know, he says that in the past,
he had either warned viewers about a storm
that's coming their way or reassure them
that one will dissipate or turn away before it reaches them.
And then even playing footage from 2019
where he did that for Hurricane Dorian,
where he confidently and correctly predicted
that it would turn before reaching the Florida coast.
Then you have him saying to his viewers.
And I am here to tell you
that I'm not sure I can do that this year
because of the cuts, the gutting,
the sledgehammer attack on science in general.
Did you know that central and South Florida
National Weather Service offices
are currently basically 20 to 40% understaffed.
And you would John then adding
that there's been a nearly 20% reduction
in weather balloon launches.
So as a result, the quality of forecasting
has become degraded.
There's also a chance because of some of these cuts
that NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft
will not be able to fly this year and with less reconnaissance missions, we may be flying blind.
And we may not exactly know how strong a hurricane is before it reaches the coastline.
And as an example of what that looks like, you had John pointing to Hurricane Otis, saying that in 2023, just 24 hours before landfall, the National Hurricane Center predicted that it would be a 70 mile per hour tropical storm.
But when it struck Mexico,
it was a monster 165 mile per hour category five cyclone.
With Morales explaining a big reason
the forecast was so badly botched
was not having timely reconnaissance data
because the hurricane hunters didn't reach Otis
as it was developing.
With them then adding about this season,
never have we faced a combustible mix
of a lack of meteorological data
and the less accurate forecast that follow
with an elevated propensity for the rapidly
intensifying hurricanes of the manmade climate change era.
You know, all of this is even though he left the room,
his Musk remains.
And now this week, one of the things that we're seeing
is that the National Weather Service told the Hill
that it was looking to rehire 126 people
that were fired by Doge.
With them adding that it's conducting
short-term temporary duty assignments
and is trying to fill roles at field locations
with the greatest operational need.
And then lastly, saying a targeted number
of permanent mission critical field positions
will soon be advertised under an exception
to the department-wide hiring freeze
to further stabilize frontline operations.
But even with all that,
if they're able to fill the positions,
the service is still down hundreds of employees
from where it was last year.
Which is why Ed Morales ending his monologue
by pleading with viewers to call their representatives
and demand that they reverse the Doge cuts.
And warning that if that does not happen,
the hurricane season could be uglier and deadlier
than it needs to be.
But then next up in news, we got to talk about,
Israeli soldiers opened fire on Palestinians
near a food distribution site for the third day in a row,
killing at least 27 people yesterday,
according to the Red Cross and Gaza's Health Ministry.
And that, it comes after at least 31 were killed on Sunday and three more on Monday near the same area, according to the Red Cross and Gaza's health ministry. And that it comes after at least 31 were killed on Sunday
and three more on Monday near the same area
according to local officials.
With one young boy who said that his brother
had already been killed,
also saying that his mom was among those killed
trying to access aid in recent days. My brother in this war is gone. God knows who will go. Now we have only one person.
We don't have anything, no guns, no guns.
We are civilians, not soldiers.
We are civilians, not soldiers.
But with that, in each case,
we've seen the Israeli military denying or downplaying
what others have said happened.
Or with the incident yesterday, for example,
they said that their forces had fired near
what they called a few people who had strayed
from the designated route
and who didn't respond to the warning shots.
They then also described those individuals as suspects
and claimed that they posed a threat to soldiers.
So then notably a military spokesperson declined
to explain the nature of the perceived threat.
And then you had another spokesperson suggesting
that the casualty figures provided by aid groups
and health workers were inflated,
while then also declining to reveal how many people
the military did believe they had killed or wounded.
And of course, all of this, it's playing out
as you have aid agencies saying that Gaza faces the threat
of widespread starvation in the wake
of an 80 day Israeli blockade on food deliveries
that technically ended in mid May.
With Israel then subsequently implementing a plan
to put a newly created US based organization
called the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation
in charge of aid distribution.
And that group, right, the GHF,
it's reportedly paying mostly American contractors
to hand out food from sites
and areas patrolled by Israeli troops.
You know, that was set up after Israel said
that a new system was needed to prevent Hamas
from stealing stockpile and selling food
at inflated prices to finance its war effort.
Though notably there, you have UN officials saying
there was no evidence that that was actually happening
at a widespread scale in the first place.
And in fact, with that, what you're seeing is
that the UN is boycotting the system.
With them arguing that the position
of the distribution points,
mostly in Israeli occupied areas of Southern Gaza,
could facilitate the displacement
of the population of Northern Gaza.
And they're also saying that it would endanger civilians
by forcing them to walk for miles to get food
on a route that goes past Israeli military lines.
Even had a UN memo sent around before the system's launch,
actually warning that Israeli forces
or private contractors might use force to control crowds,
which of course has been proven accurate
by the past few days.
So understand, even without all that,
the whole thing's been something of a disaster
for a number of other reasons.
I mean, for example, just a few hours
before the GHF was set to begin operations,
its executive director actually resigned,
claiming that the group wouldn't be able
to operate independently and impartially,
adding that it would be impossible
for the group to fulfill its mission
in a way that adhered to humanitarian principles.
And then on top of that, Boston Consulting Group,
which actually helped design and run the GHF operation,
it has now terminated its contract with the group
and placed one of the senior partners
leading the project on leave.
And then all of this as despite risking being shot at,
many are reportedly still not getting anything to eat.
We're seeing reports that huge crowds
of hungry Palestinians have been arriving early each morning
hoping to get food, often walking several miles in the dark.
And then you've got some witnesses describing
a violent scramble for whatever boxes of food
are actually available rather than orderly handouts.
Which also wouldn't be surprising to hear
because the organization has only announced
four aid distribution points so far compared
to the 400 under the UN led system.
Not to mention that most of the new sites
haven't actually been operational on most days.
And in fact, to that point, the group announced
that it would not be giving out any provisions today.
And you also had the Israeli army warning
that the roads leading to distribution centers
were considered combat zones.
And now you even have the GHF asking Israel to do more
with them urging the military to guide foot traffic
in a way that minimizes confusion or escalation risks,
develop clearer guidance for civilians
and enhanced training to support civilian safety.
But for now it remains to be seen if those basic requests are falling on Netanyahu's deaf ears.
And then I've got more news for you in just a minute,

But then shifting gears from that news,
I wanna talk about Carla Flores.
Because the news around her shows us
that sometimes a mistake is the best thing that could
Happen because you see well
She was learning to drive a couple of years ago when she was just an 18 year old girl like video games cats and horror movies
She said that she started seeing strange things stuff like two stripes on the road where there was only one two cars up ahead
Instead of one basically double vision. So her doctor thought well, maybe you're just forgetting to wear your glasses
But let's let's order a scan just in case when the picture came back
It turns out there was a large mass
spreading against her left eye.
We're in a code red situation.
And as it turns out, it was a cardoma,
which is an extremely rare malignant tumor
that only affects about 300 Americans a year.
And so Flores, she goes to a neurosurgeon,
Dr. Mohammed Labib.
And he comes up with this plan to remove the tumor
and two consecutive surgeries.
He'd remove a piece of her skull,
then go in through her nose and take out the tumor.
It sounds gnarly, but it's actually pretty standard
as far as neurosurgery goes.
But then on the morning of the first operation,
a mistake happened.
The MRI tech ends up positioning the camera
just a little lower than necessary, and thank God they did.
Right, because when Labib surveyed the scans,
he saw something terrible.
Flores didn't have a tumor, she had two tumors.
And that second one, it was way back at the base
of her skull wrapped around her spinal cord,
which meant that if that one grew,
it could paralyze her or even kill her.
And so what Labib does is goes on with the first surgery
to remove the first tumor.
And then in between operations,
he takes the opportunity to observe
the second tumor more closely.
With him then figuring that if he just blasted
with radiation, that could allow the cancer
to grow back more quickly.
Or then alternatively, he goes,
I could cut through the back of her neck,
but then saying that most of the tumor
was in the front of the spinal column,
so it would be obstructed.
And then he thinks, well, why don't I go through her mouth?
But there are a lot of germs there,
it makes an infection more likely.
And then doing the nostril again, like the first surgery,
that would leave his path limited
by sections of the palate and upper jaw.
So Labib gets this idea, what if we go through the eyeball?
Which is actually something he had done before,
something he dubbed the procedure,
the third nostril approach,
but he also hadn't gotten anywhere as far
as the spinal column before.
And so with that, you know, he knows it's gonna be hard.
He'd have to specially modify his insurance
for the operation and it would be risky as hell.
Cause not only would he be risking damaging her eye,
if he was off by even just a few millimeters,
Flores could lose all movement below the neck
or suffer a fatal brainstem stroke.
You know, he goes, I don't think there's another option.
And so he practiced for weeks in the lab,
performing operations on cadavers over and over again
to perfect his method.
Rocky prepping for his next fight montage shit.
And after some 20 hours, he did it.
They had to cut through the membrane
that protects the eye inside the lower eyelid.
They had to take out the bottom of her eye socket
and portion of her cheekbone.
They had to drill through her vertebrae to reach the tumor.
They dissected it carefully, removing it bit by bit
until all of it was finally gone.
And then they had to rebuild her eye socket
with a titanium plate and reconstruct her cheek
with bone from her hip.
And then yeah, Flores had to stabilize her vertebrae,
get radiation treatment,
and go through extensive physical therapy,
but she is alive.
And now with it being nearly a year,
reportedly her cancer is still gone.
Though of course, because this happened in America,
this cannot be just a fantastic, good feeling news story. And that because she says that she is now in medical debt to the tune of
$600,000. Their older sister then setting up a GoFundMe to help her cover it, but she says that
they've only raised a few thousand dollars so far. But as far as the good news, one, Flores is alive,
and two, now that Labib's innovative surgical procedure has been proven to work on Flores,
it could be an option for many other patients in the future. But then finally today, let's end with congratulations
and then talk about y'all's comments on yesterday's show.
Starting with congrats to Keani B,
SeatGeek's latest weekly winner,
who just scored $500 in tickets
and is planning to see Billie Eilish.
And for the rest of y'all, that's right,
SeatGeek is still giving away $500 in tickets
and you should definitely enter today
if you haven't already.
I mean, imagine being the next winner
and snagging $500 towards seeing your favorite artist, sporting event,
or play, I mean, there's like over 70,000 events
to choose from.
And all you gotta do is add code PDS to your SeatGeek
app profile for a chance at the weekly $500 prize,
no purchase necessary.
It won't take long to tell you neutral's ingredients.
Vodka, soda, natural flavors.
Soda, natural flavors.
So what should we talk about?
No sugar added?
Neutral, refreshingly simple. Win-win, go do it.
But that said, let's do some comment commentary.
Because yesterday y'all were sounding off
on pretty much every story.
Or like with Jonathan Joss,
while many people were saying,
this is no doubt a hate crime.
You also had comments like, hate crime or not.
I'm pretty convinced it was.
I really hate how some news outlets are saying
Joss quote passed away, regardless, he was murdered.
And others adding, even if Jonathan Joss
was a problematic neighbor, the house burned down in January, four or five was murdered. And others adding, even if Jonathan Joss was a problematic neighbor,
the house burned down in January four or five months ago.
So presumably he and his husband
didn't live in the area anymore.
At that point, they go from someone you deal with every day
to the person you don't like
that you see around occasionally.
So if the problem was just that he was a bad neighbor,
why hadn't that tension eased off?
Why start such an extreme altercation?
And why the hell were the remains of their dog there?
Yeah, it was a hate crime.
And then you also had some,
like Cassandra sharing their own stories.
I'm in San Antonio and when my ex-husband slapped me
and threatened me to kidnap our child,
the police told me,
"'Ma'am, if you are not bleeding, have broken bones,
you're in the ER or in the morgue,
there's nothing we can do for you.'"
Then this year, a new neighbor started harassing me,
yelling at me that he is going to kill me and my dog.
Again, the police do nothing nothing even after five calls from me
and the neighbor is still harassing me to the point
I'm selling my house because I do not feel safe anymore.
My point is don't believe anything SAPD says
because they have shown again and again
that they don't care.
And then regarding some of the other stories,
y'all were sounding off saying things like
it's so depressing how defunding a suicide hotline
is seen as a partisan issue.
Everyone should have access to them no matter what.
Then regarding corporate sponsors abandoning pride,
you had people saying,
people always forget corporations don't support you.
They support you buying their stuff though.
The second it becomes unprofitable or bad for business,
I had a feeling they'd step back.
And then finally, regarding Trump's new head of FEMA
saying he was not aware that there is a hurricane season.
And after I tried through all the ridiculousness
of that story and said,
and hope that hurricane season this year
is not as bad as it is expected to be,
we had Jodie saying, Phil, you're adorable.
This is going to be a clusterfuck.
And to that, I say, you're probably right,
but these days, if I don't force myself to go,
maybe it won't be as bad as it probably will be,
I feel like I'm gonna explode.
I've been a cynic for almost all 39 years of my life,
and the only way I can get through the day is just,
you know how they say like smile,
and maybe your body will think that it's happy?
The guardrails are broken, baby.
We're not headed towards a cliff.
We are off the cliff.
We are actively looking for a fucking parachute
or maybe a go-go gadget helicopter.
You know, a lot of y'all, you're around my same age,
but at times I feel like I'm a parent
that's trying to act like everything's okay when it's not.
And I'm doing that while I'm actively telling you
all the reasons why things are not okay,
but I'm not trying to let my emotions
come out about it as well.
Anyway, I'm really excited for the Switch 2
to come out tomorrow so I can try to disassociate
for about 72 hours.
But before I get to do that, I gotta do a few more things,
including saying, hey, that's the end of today's show.
Thank you so much for watching.
And remember two things.
One, I love your faces.
And two, I'll see you back here tomorrow
because I got a brand new show for you
every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 p.m. Pacific.
Love you, mean it, bye.
