I should know that shouldn't I should know what my TikTok handle is. It's a job, isn't it?
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's Carla Freeman Comedy.
I think it is.
I'll find out.
I'll leave it all in the description so people can, it's like kind of.
Thank you, Emma.
Mum skits and then like British comedy skits.
It's fun.
People go and follow.
And we just spent a good 10 minutes trying to work out how to get you to be landscape.
Yeah. And then another 10 minutes trying to work out when you were 14 we did a pre-podcast at one point technology and maths are two of my least strong points and you went straight in with the
technology and at one point we were speaking to melissa mccarthy even though we weren point we were speaking to Melissa McCarthy, even though we weren't recording. Sadly, we lost her now.
She's not dead.
She was on the...
Oh, no, she's not dead.
She's not dead.
We haven't lost her like that.
We just...
So 1999 was when you were 14.
And I said to you, great year.
Fantastic year.
It's a great year.
So I'm going to ask you if you can guess one of the top.
Oh, no. We will do... what do you say no no for i could be excellent i'm terrible at quizzes like terrible you're gonna be you're gonna smash this actually
i can feel it in my waters um if i can find the uh okay really i'm coughing for the dramatic effect so can you guess one of the top five films
in 1999 anyone 1999 yeah yeah okay top five films shimanshi no mrs doubtfire Jumanji? No. Mrs Doubtfire?
No, but that was a good film.
Would you like a clue?
Yes, please.
I See Dead People.
Oh, Sixth Sense.
Yes, well done.
You got it straight away.
Straight away. Just edit that out.
Edit it all out.
Okay, so the top five films were Number Five the matrix i've never seen it what excuse me no oh emma is it good it's a classic
but is it good it's not for me but it is a classic film but it's not my kind of i'm not very into kind of sci-fi don't come at me
saying it's not sci-fi because it kind of is sci-fi yeah yeah i i like more real stuff but
it's a really good concept the matrix it's a really good concept like based on alice in
wonderland and like falling down the rabbit hole and keanu reeves is fit Keanu Reeves is very fit there you go that's a better
reason okay number four Toy Story 2 oh wow god that was in 1999 I was gonna say 2014 no 1999
number three Austin Powers the spy who shagged me oh and I should know that because we had that on
it sleepovers all the time of course course you did. It was hilarious.
Number two, The Sixth Sense.
And number one, Star Wars, The Phantom Menace.
No.
No, I've not watched any Star Wars. No, I think that's the one that had Jar Jar Binks in.
I feel.
Do you know who that is?
I only know who that is because I think I got a little model of them in a Weeto's packet once.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That sounds about around that time you would have been. I thought it was a little model of them in a Weeto's packet once yeah yeah yeah
that sounds about around that time you would have been it was I thought it was a big old flop I
thought everybody hated it right we're coming on to the singles just guess actually do people even
call them singles these days do you call it a single yeah have you heard the new single no
you've not said that to anybody when was the last time you said have you heard the new single no you've not said that to anybody when was the last time you said
have you heard the new single no no but that makes me sad because I loved going to Woolworths and
getting my singles I'm gonna after this podcast I'm gonna go down and say to my kids hey kids
have you heard the latest latest uh who's gonna say what last what's the what last single did
you listen to yeah that's what I'm gonna say say to them. And they'll be like, what are you talking about? Okay. Guess one of the top five singles.
Okay.
So 1999.
Spice Girls.
Should have been in there, but it's not.
It's not in there.
Okay.
Oh, okay.
Would you like it?
Was Hanson around?
Was Mbop in there?
No.
It's Mystique. Is that around mystique with a one i was trying to be alicia yeah i thought she was on the podcast for a second
i'm gonna give you a clue one two three four five everybody got louis vega uh mambo number five so we have a number five 9 p.m
by atb is that what's that that till i come i can't excuse me i can't get no sleep that's not
the same song is it it's two different songs what's 9 p.m then 9 p.m don't know a.m to p.m no that's a.m to p.m no uh we don't know write in if atb if you
write listening write in singer sell us your song send us your new single number four mambo number
five lou bager number three millennium prayer prayer by cliff richard oh gosh yeah because of
course it would have been that was number one for so long yeah it would
have been that time of life we all thought the world was ending and cliff yeah number two
cliff was going to guide us in a white suit number two blue da badi
um they just remixed that didn't they last year yeah and Yeah, yeah. And number one, Baby One More Time, Britney Spears. A classic.
Mm-mm-mm-mm.
Yeah.
That is a classic.
OK.
I didn't realise that was 1999. I think that's a mixed bag for singles, to be honest.
Britney was brilliant.
It's not the best.
It's not the best collection, is it, really?
I do like Mambo No. 5, though.
I remember having my 14th birthday at a place called the flamingo club
and it we we hired it out and it was proper sticky floor and we were only 14 so I think we were like
had I don't know maybe we had an odd Bacardi Breezer but I remember playing Mambo number
five on repeat on repeat I don't know how we would play the music out loud anyway has everyone dropped
off listening Louis Vega are you there um did with your friends did you say and we got and you went
around your friends in my life a little bit of Tina yeah if you listen to the lyrics now, it's absolutely horrendous. Oh, no, is it?
Yeah.
A little bit of Jessica in there, a little bit of Mary all night long.
Like, oh, yuck. Okay, so you're just using women, one, two, three, four, five.
Like, oh, here, she's for sex.
She's good to look at.
She's fun.
She's, oh, no, no.
Oh, no.
But do you know what?
If it came on now, I'd dance with it.
It's a great song. I'd have a dance but i'd
be dancing like this god i'm really angry but then i would join in and go emma do do do
great song louis bago if you're listening oh i hope he's not passed if you're listening right
in if you've passed i'm sorry it's shame. You can't tell with this podcast.
They're either passed or cancelled.
You don't know what's going on.
Okay, so where were you growing up when you were 14 and what was on your bedroom walls?
Okay, so I grew up in St Ives in Cornwall.
Lovely.
Yeah, yeah.
Very, very gorgeous.
And on my walls, I had Hanson.
Yeah, Taylor, Zach and Isaac loved them I had Bewitched I had Spice Girls and I had a Friends poster all classic was it the Friends poster where they've
all got their heads yes yes they're having a one uh Rachel and Ross sharing a milkshake. Oh, that's a classic poster.
Who did you fancy in Hanson?
Taylor.
Which one's Taylor?
The only one that's fanciful in my mind.
Is it the middle one?
That was about three years old.
Yeah, the middle one.
Okay, the middle one.
Okay.
Oh, no, no.
I was going to do...
What?
I was going to try and sing like him and it came out like I followed some fly
no mind we're just moving on it all kicks off on late night podcast recording doesn't it it's
because it's because people just are exhausted so they're going to completely tired I'm tired
and having a peppermint and peppermint tea because I've got a poorly belly so it's just oh no
it's just
it's just
the stage of life
for me to be honest
okay
so you fancied Taylor
question
if there was a knock at the door
if there was a knock at your window now
and he appeared
as him
now
not then
because he would be a bit of a child
would you let him in
and would you still fancy him

I'm going to say no.
I'm going to say my 14-year-old's Carla
had a different taste to 39-year-old Carla.
I think he's too pretty.
Too pretty. Too pretty. As I got older, I got more... taste to 39 year old Carla I think he's too pretty he's too pretty too pretty too pretty
as I got older I got more um yeah I like more interesting looks a bit more rugged
I said Taylor I'm sorry it's a no sorry Taylor if you just sorry Taylor if you listen um did
you have any other crushes oh yeah loads of crushes who was i really into i had so many crushes who was i into
i think do you know which is weird for my age but i did quite like ross from friends
that's not weird ross from friends well he was quite old wasn't he um who who did i really oh
leonardo dicaprio jesus christ romeo and juliet okay it's either romeo or titanic but Um, who, who did I really? Oh, Leonardo DiCaprio. Jesus Christ. Romeo and Juliet.
Okay. It's either Romeo and Juliet or Titanic, but.
It was Romeo and Juliet first, wasn't it though? Because that's when I, I think I fell in love
with him. And then it was just, it was the fringe. Like it was, I'd never seen anyone more beautiful.
Honestly.
He's so beautiful. And was he in like armor yeah like
in there was like a fancy dress when they're looking through the yeah looking through the
fish tank yeah he's in armor yeah and he just does the and also then he does these crying scenes and
you're like oh he was gorgeous yeah beautiful yeah really beautiful if he knocked at the door
unfortunately he wouldn't want either of us oh no no but if he knocked at the door unfortunately he wouldn't
want either of us oh no no but if he knocked at the door now we wouldn't want him Emma
no thank you I'm sorry Carla I probably would because I'd be like for the story I'd be like
could I make a reel of it and put it on Instagram
you can come in I don't fancy you but be a good story wipe your feet please
i'm too old but hop on
so okay so leonardo's also been rejected that's sad for him okay what kind of music
are you into is it just pop quite fussy uh let me think so spiceice Girls like I thought I was the biggest Spice Girls fan ever Oasis
I was listening to Oasis on cassette I remember that um and the beach I used to love the beach
boys and I loved musical theatre so I was just listening to all the musicals
so was I me and my sister were talking about this the other day like I was a real
loser I'd be like doing like a what I was a real loser. I'd be, like, doing, like, a walk.
My friends would come round and I'd be, like, singing Tell Me on a Sunday.
And I'd be, like, doing a bit of Jesus Christ Superstar.
What the hell must they have thought?
I made my best friend, Katie, come round to my house, sit down,
and I'd put on, like, music of the night and dance for her.
Good. Like like what the hell
what the hell poor Katie anyway thank you Katie she probably will listen to this but you know what
um actually if you're still friends with Katie I'm still friends with the two people that I used
to dance Melissa and Rachel so maybe it was a winning recipe for making friends yeah I think so and I would still do
that to Katie as well if there's if there's a really big musical theatre salon I will still
put it on and dance for her because it's just funny my sister and I um always sing I know him
so well we have got that down like an absolute back to back oh Oh my God, we're going for it. Oh wow, you've done a routine.
Oh God, yeah.
Barbara, she goes, does she go first?
I think she goes first and then I go.
And we've got the harmonies.
Oh my God, get us some Blooming Britain's Got Talent.
You go for it.
I mean, I do that with my sister,
but my sister can't sing, so.
Well, I'm not saying we can
sing to be fair I didn't say I didn't say it was good I said we did it okay so what kind of school
did you go to and where were you in the hierarchy oh I went to a um public school state school um
uh state school the same as public school isn't it i don't know
did i say public school and it just sounded really i went to a state school because i think a public
school boy is just for the public no i don't think it is i think a public school boys okay
a private school which is weird because why would it end up the call the private school
i was gonna say don't edit that out emma because I'm sure lots of people would make the same mistake,
or maybe they wouldn't.
And now no one's going to be interested in anything I have to say.
I feel like a public school boy.
I feel like I'd say it like that.
I don't know, man.
I went to state school.
Okay.
State school.
All right, Dick Van Dyke, you went to a state school.
All right.
Yeah, in Cornwall.
And, yeah, it was lovely. think in the heart the did you say
what did you say was the second like in the hierarchy like were you like cool were you
nerdy where did you kind of like I was not cool I was not cool um I had my little group of friends
we were kind of like the drama group right okay yeah so we had our own little thing but I was desperate there was
a group called that the really cool girls were called the munch bunch and they all got their
boobs early and they all had really beautiful hair and they would wear really good shoes I
remember thinking their shoes were good I'd get all my shoes from like you know they would be called like Knox or like
Abbey Bass or you know like I'm not like like I and I remember they always had really good shoes
anyway I was desperate to be in the munch bunch and I remember once it's so like mean girls they
weren't mean they were just I don't know beautiful and cool but one of them said hi to me once in the corridor and it
made my day yeah I was like oh my god she she said she said hi she said hi and then one of them came
and watched one of the shows we did and she came the next day she was like Carly you can come sit
with us if you want and I was like oh my god it's literally like Mean Girls it literally is Mean
Girls yeah but I didn't go and sit with them because they didn't ask Katie
and I wanted to stay with Katie.
Oh, my God, you are.
Oh, this needs to be made into a Netflix film.
That's what I think.
You can play yourself.
I should be playing me.
Yeah, you will play you.
Katie can play Katie and I'll be a teacher in the background.
This is a lovely story.
What are they called, the Munch Buns after the yoghurt?
I don't know.
I don't know who gave them that name.
I think the boys gave them the nicknames because all the boys fancied them.
I don't know what Munch Buns.
Are they named after yoghurts?
Yeah, because the yoghurts are called Munch Buns, aren't they?
Or is that you too young for that?
No, no.
I had Munch Buns in my lunch boxes.
So were they called after yoghurts?
We'll never know. We'll never know.
We'll never know.
Or, I don't know, munch.
No, let's not go there.
I don't know.
It sounds really strange.
So who was your kind of first snog?
My first snog?
And was it all porn?
Oh, my God.
My first snog was so bad yeah it was just really horrible
yeah it was I won't say the name no because they'll all be listening it's
millions of listeners yeah well yeah well just yeah just in case because if I'd said it was
really good I'd say the name but they weren't it was so do you know what he said to me he took his
his he took my face in in his hands and he went
and he went I'm gonna kiss you like they do on neighbors
and then he went
and I was just like I literally my mouth just must have been like oh it's so disgusting
it was absolutely repulsive i wouldn't just was he thinking harold were you madge
i was probably madge how awful is the name madge. Is it? What's it short for?
Margaret.
Yeah, because you call Madonna Madge.
I wouldn't call a Madge to her face, Madonna.
I don't think she'd like that.
I wouldn't call her Madge.
Do you imagine?
You're like Madge.
You're like, oh.
Oh, so it was a lot of tongue.
Did you ever see him again or was that it?
Oh, yeah.
We were at school together.
So then I had all my school days with him.
But that was, it was fine.
I'm going to give him points because the hand on the face does sound quite romantic.
We're keeping watching Neighbours.
But if he'd have said, I'm going to kiss you like Leonardo DiCaprio kissed Claire Danes in Romeo and Juliet.
That would have been different.
Winning, winning.
But like in Neighbours.
Not a good analogy, really.
No, no.
But he does get points for the face.
For the face, yeah.
We'll give him that.
Okay, what kind of fashion were you wearing?
What was one of your fashion faux pas?
God, I literally, because we grew up in in st ives we were very surfy so we were wearing a lot
of like i remember i had a big t-shirt that said fat willies surf shack and when you said surfy i
thought fat willies that's that literally surf shack and then i had this um hoodie jumper that
was like a billabong jumper that I was obsessed with basically I used to wear
I remember flares came in didn't they were we 14 when flares were back I think it was flares clogs
and a big like fleecy jumper and then my hair like scraped back because it was really fuzzy
so I used to just try and scrape it back as as severely as I possibly could with all my acne
just out on my forehead just out and proud yeah fat willies is a classic when I used to when I
went on a girls holiday to Nuki when I was 18 I kind of would have gone into that do you know
you've been I presume you've been to Nuki oh yeah infamous sailors sailors arms yes where I famously
had a boy stop me go oh my god you look like someone famous
and I went yeah and he went yeah Sharon from EastEnders
and that kind of
ruined the rest of my heart
you look like someone famous
and he's like yeah Sharon from EastEnders
and I was like yeah okay thank you
livid
there's nothing wrong with Letitia Dean
but you don't want to be compared to Letitia Dean when you're a teenager
you do not want to be compared to Letitia Dean when you're a teenager. You do not want.
Yeah.
You just don't want to be compared to Letitia Dean.
Oh, she said it.
Oh, what a bitch.
She came on TikTok the other day.
She's got great legs.
I will say that, Letitia.
I'd love a set of pins like that.
So is there anything you would have wore then that you would wear now?
I've still got my Fat Willie surf stuff. Yeah yeah I wear it to bed to be fair but uh what did I wear then yeah I'd wear
some flares I probably would wear quite a bit of stuff yeah why not I think nowadays you can wear
anything can't you really it's different it's not no, you have to wear, no one's wearing that, that's not cool.
It's like anyone just wears anything they fancy.
Yeah, it's very relaxed because I've got teenagers and my daughter's 13.
It's a very comfy look they're all going for.
They're going for the big hoodies.
Lounge wear.
Yeah, lounge wear.
Big hoodies, leggings, youwear big hoodies leggings you know um
like trainer very comfy cozy in any scenario if I was going oh I'm going to a wedding this
afternoon what you wearing leggings and a hoodie it's just what they all wear
and a slip how how like refreshing though like to not feel the pressure to wear anything other
than that god I would have loved that growing up yeah just leggings in a hoodie with a slip back bun and a bit of clear mascara and
she's like right i'm ready for the wedding mom lovely i was like trying to shoehorn myself into
like jeez oh my god yeah i was in like i was in jane norman dresses oh are you the first person
that's mentioned jane Jane Norman on the podcast?
You might be.
Maybe.
Jane Norman.
You get,
you get,
you get the clothes because you want the bag.
You get the clothes because you want the bag.
We all wanted the Jane Norman bag.
You want the Jane Norman bag.
Cause that is a very cool bag to be,
to be hoisting around on your shoulder.
You've definitely been shopping in London.
If you've got a Jane Norman bag.
Yeah.
Like Jane Norman, Morgan and Kukai, of them lot I wanted all of them I think I may have
even had a Morgan maybe record bag do you remember record bags like the black kind of square
with a big flap shiny no I all flat it was like a big square but i am a bit old and he was like a big square
some of the listeners it was like a big square it's called a record bag big square black bag
with a flap up and you put your records in obviously i'm walking around carrying records
that's weird i'm not a bloody dj but he would have had but listen i walk around carrying my
headphones so do you walk around carrying your headphones, I don't understand how else I'm going to carry them, Emma. You put them around your neck like Craig David.
You look great.
You look great.
You hold them, one there and one like Craig.
Yeah, I actually have retired my, what they're called?
Over the heads.
Yeah, because, again, I don't know what i'm supposed
to do with them what with these with the big things no the little ones i'm fine no i just got
these because the little ones i think my ears are too small my ear holes are very small fun fact
small holes noted um so yeah i can't have i don't like an airpod either i like an old-fashioned
you like the security of a wire i do and sometimes i think it makes me look a bit
kooky when i'm walking in the streets oh look at her she's she's not down with modern trends
she's still wearing little headphones yeah they've done um okay so fashion we've covered fashion um
what was your greatest ever teenage success oh god my greatest it can be something daft it could
be like i've got to be in drama or whatever it could be anything oh no i'll tell you what it was I um won the surfing competition um but it was like a local one
on Porthmere Beach and I won it and I was so proud of myself did you get in the local paper
oh yeah Times and Echo I was in the Times and Echo yeah with a little picture of me in a web
in a website in a website in a website picture of me on a
website it's a whole different thing you've won a picture of you in a wetsuit oh yeah with my medal
and my little goodie bag I was so pleased yeah I got some serious points with the boys for winning
that as well oh it could never happen in Birmingham because we just have canals
I was not I wasn't really surfing.
Can you still surf now?
I can, yeah.
I love it.
Check you out.
Give her a TV show about surfing.
That would be awesome.
The expert.
I've never met anybody surf before but from you.
So you're my expert.
Give her a TV show about surfing
well you know
I think that's a very big success
thank you very much
thank you
I want to talk flops
is there anything that happened when you were a teenager that was an absolute flop
and haunts you till this day
oh my god so many
things, I think that age is so
vulnerable like I think I was so desperately in love with this boy who just treated me so badly
actually he was like one of my best friends but I was just so in love with him but he
he kept kind of going out with all my friends never me and it was just so in love with him but he he kept kind of going out with all my friends never me and it
was just so mortifying every time it was so embarrassing unrequited love is an absolute
rite of passage the pain I still remember that like it hurt it hurt so badly um what else so
that was always embarrassing um what else was embarrassing I was really
embarrassed with my skin I had really bad acne on my forehead um I was always really embarrassed
with that so I was trying to kind of cover it up with like you know when you get the two bits like
yeah because I couldn't have a fringe because my hair's naturally curly and that was just a disaster
no wouldn't look good it's wild now how the kids, like, if they've got spots,
they'll, like, put little stars on them and they'll just go out with, like,
it's cute, isn't it? I like it.
I just love that. I love that.
I'm so excited because I've got two girls and I'm like, oh, thank God.
Like, when you get acne, we can just stick stars on.
Just make the solar system on your face.
Yeah, in our house, we've got Hello Kitty ones.
We've got stars. we've got hello kitty ones we've got stars we've got hearts and she'll often just pop off to the you know i'm going to cost her or wherever she's going and they've got little stickers on i think it's really cute
we just didn't we yeah we didn't and of course they do like skincare we didn't we had soap
oh my god very best i don't even think i know I think clearacil maybe was just a coming
out I think I had clearacil like a or neutrogena neutrogena clearacil um apricot scrub because it
was Sarah Michelle Gellar I remember she was on the adverts for neutrogena going like that
I was if she used she never used that absolutely I absolutely never did. But Carla thought she did.
And so she ran down to Boots with her pop it money.
Pop it.
Pocket.
And got some.
Yeah.
There was apricot scrubs.
There was.
Yes.
Apes and Ives apricot scrubs.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I don't know if that still exists because it can't be healthy for your skin.
Just rubbing like seeds.
I don't know.
It's just.
Was it apricot seeds?
And it would just leave because
i used to obviously do my skincare in the bath yeah obviously yeah yeah so then when you get out
my mom would be like so just be like loads of little bits of shit all over the bottom of the
bath a little bit of grit in there um yeah the skincare now is is much better um my daughter just a bit has has has a whole like
skincare thing skincare thing down um unrequited glove i think is a rite of passage and um is
truly horrific and we've all we've all been through it i wonder if boys get boys must go
through it as well oh yeah boys have had yeah I know that
my husband's definitely had a girl that he was so in love with and I think he made her something
and she just didn't even know he existed I remember when he told me that I was like oh
but let me see a picture of her is she beautiful beautiful now? Yeah, I'm going to find her on Facebook and really assess the situation.
We had Giles on the podcast who, did he paint a picture?
He did some, I think there was some sort of portrait that he posted to a girl's house with no response.
Oh, no.
I know.
Oh, it's very love actually, isn't it?
Yeah, it's just unrequited love and your heart your heart
hurts doesn't it but yeah we've all got to go through it and if you haven't been through it
well I resent lucky you I resent you okay so um if you go back in time and speak to little Carla
what would you say believe in yourself have more confidence what would I say yeah believe in yourself you're
you're you're good you're a good girl I just used to think I just had so little confidence
and I used to think I was weird I used to think I was so odd yeah I just feel like you're you're
fine you're brilliant I just feel like I just want to be on
her shoulder going you're great do it go on no sing that song it doesn't matter if no one laughs
it just sing it because it makes you happy who cares you're never going to see these people again
like you know yeah yeah I wish I could go back and have a little cuddle but but we wouldn't
14 year old us would look at us and think we were
probably maybe losers I don't know they'd be like I'm not listening to these old ladies
yeah no I think my 14 year old self would think I was pretty I was pretty damn cool oh I like that
yeah I don't know what my 14 year old self would think she'd love you she'd think you'd be you
would be amazed
I would tell her that I would tell her that we met Gary Barlow and I feel like that would keep her
going I feel that would keep her going for the next good 20 20 30 years she'd be like well
there's something to keep you know keep getting up for I've got to meet some of the Spice Girls

fizz.ca i think posh was my favorite but i was always i always had to be sporty
you know because we you always got given one and i was always i always came on and had to be sporty, you know, because you always got given one. You were a surfer.
I always came on and had to do the kick.
And I was like, oh, I'll tell you, talking about embarrassments,
that was an embarrassment for the variety show.
Everyone runs on and goes like, and I had to come on and do the kick.
And I did the kick and she went, whoo.
It felt whole school watching, whole school.
So what did you do?
Did you get up, carry on?
Did you army crawl, carry on?
Did you army crawl off and cry?
I got up, carried on, but one of my friends was just like,
she couldn't get it back together.
She was gone.
She couldn't do any of the singing.
She was laughing so much I thought she was going to throw up.
Was it because you were wearing like a platform trainer or was it just a normal, was it like a buffalo trainer?
No, it's because the adrenaline got me and i really went for that kick and i went too
high and then the the leg under the supporting leg just it came out underneath me it was awful
i manifest that i think your path will cross with mel c i feel like i tell that story i don't think
we're gonna i don't think we'll stumble across we're not gonna get
Victoria but I think you could get an Emma I think you could get an Emma I could get an Emma if I
work hard if you really if you work really hard you might get an invite to sing and Emma Bunton
would be there imagine who was your favorite oh well Emmama because she's called emma she's called emma
sure that's it i mean i was a little bit older i i so in yeah in 99 i would have been 21 so i love
this place oh my god i've got a melcy tattoo let's get oh my god i've kind of i don't think i can
share you've got a melcy can we just hang on on? Hang on. Hang on. Hang on. And you just hesitate.
No, it's not of her face.
It's not of her face.
It's not Mel C's face.
It's what?
Could you imagine if I just lifted it up?
No, it's a Chinese symbol.
She had a Chinese symbol.
And then we went to get Chinese.
It's not.
It's not.
I thought you meant you had Mel c as in her name on your shoulder
and i was like okay i'm really laughing who's your favorite member emma but i've got a mel c tattoo
it wouldn't make any sense no a chinese symbol because she had a Chinese symbol. A woman. It was a trend.
I know it well.
Yeah, it was a trend.
I remember.
It's a big blob now.
Sometimes I think about covering it up.
But I think it's fun.
It's part of who you are.
Yeah, it is part of, you know, when people say,
what's that?
It's a Chinese symbol for woman.
And they're just like, I mean, you're not Chinese.
And I go, no.
Look, cultural appropriation wasn't a thing back
then we just did stupid things god back off okay are you glad you grew up then or do you wish you
were growing up now I'm glad I grew up then a hundred percent why a hundred percent although
because I think I was a proper kid and as in I was so innocent and there was no social media and there
were no phones and like I remember giving my best friend we had this walkie-talkie and we tried to
make it reach to our houses and like the innocence and I I feel like with teenagers I think the
innocence has gone a little bit but I don't't have, you have teenagers. I don't have teenagers yet.
But I'm terrified when my girls are teenagers.
Terrified because of everything that's around and available.
I think what is incredibly wholesome about having a teenager and like a tween is I think the relationship as a mother with a child
is a bit deeper because they can contact you on whatsapp they can send you a gif they can send
you a funny video they say you know also does it remind well there's I couldn't really have that
communication with my mum she was like at work I might have like phoned up at work but that's
really cute and like sitting down watching a box set together I probably wouldn't
have done that with my mom you kind of like there weren't much so yeah I like that that's nice so
like me and um me and my daughter have watched like Gilmore Girls together and me and my son
watched like YouTube videos so that's that is really nice and they are still they are still
kind of wholesome the kids it's not oh good good. They don't play outside. That's one thing.
There's no...
There's no 40-40 in the streets.
There's no, there's nothing like that.
There's just because we're scared that they're going to be stolen.
But our parents didn't seem too scared.
My mum and dad literally left the door open and just let us play in the street
until the lamps went on until the street lamps
went on and then we had to come home and bear in mind in summer that was like 10 o'clock at night
and we were just out knocking about with our mates yeah they're just sat at the table having
a nice romantic dinner it must have been so easy it must have been so much easier. Jeez, like the ease. Yeah.
Yeah, I wouldn't do that.
I'd be like, I'm life 360, because that's what,
you'll get that when they're teenagers,
and you just stalk where they're going.
Yeah.
And every so often you can press a little button like that,
and it pops up on them, love you.
So they're like, oh, she's watching me.
I'm like, love you.
She's always looking.
But they watch me as well. They're like, you in the hairdressers, mum'm like, love you. She's always lucky. But they watch me as well.
They're like, you in the hairdressers, mum?
Like, yeah, I am.
It's cute.
It's cute.

Yeah.
All of them.
I'll get people to remind me of some fun ones.
ETAM.
Oh, no, ETAM.
Is that still?
No.
ETAM was Tammy Girl.
No.
ETAM was kind of like the adult-y bit, and then Tammy Girl was the tween bit. Itam was kind of like the, the adulty bit.
And then Tamiga was the tween bit.
Yeah.
