Now for the headlines.
Today we're talking about updates on the recent assassination attempt at the White House Correspondence Dinner,
King Charles and Queen Camilla's state visit to the U.S., tech titans, Elon Musk and Sam Altman going toe-to-to-to-in the courtroom over Open AI,
and other top news for Wednesday, April 29th.
Stay informed while remaining focused on Christ with the pourover.
Here's your quote of the day,
The Christian life then is a battle so sharp and full of danger that effort can nowhere be relaxed without loss.
Aldrich Zwingley.
Let's get started with some espresso shots.
Three days after a gunman opened fire outside the White House correspondence dinner,
federal prosecutors have charged a man with attempting to assassinate President Trump.
The 31-year-old, who shot a Secret Service agent before being tackled Saturday,
has invoked his right to remain silent.
Investigators say he emailed his family an apparent manifesto,
signed, quote, friendly federal assassin.
Trump describes the manifesto as a, quote, anti-Christian declaration.
Chief of staff, Susie Wiles,
is convening the Secret Service and DHS officials this week
to reassess protocols ahead of the president's upcoming public appearances.
Meanwhile, Melania Trump is calling on ABC to fire Jimmy Cameron.
Kimmel over a monologue delivered two days before the shooting. Kimmel joked she had a, quote, glow like an
expectant widow, which she called, quote, corrosive. Kimmel said it was a, quote, light roast about the 23-year
potus-flotus age difference. In the face of a violent world, Christians have hope. The servant of God,
who himself did no violence, suffered violence for us to heal our brokenness and guarantee.
guarantee our home in his peaceful presence forever.
Isaiah 53 4 through 5 says this.
Yet he himself bore our sicknesses and he carried our pains.
But we in turn regarded him stricken, struck down by God and afflicted.
But he was pierced because of our rebellion, crushed because of our iniquities.
Punishment for our peace was on him and we are healed by his wounds.
The British Crown is in town till Thursday.
King Charles and Queen Camilla are on a four-day state visit,
the first by a British monarch since 2007,
marking 250 years since we the people declared independence from the mother country.
President Trump and First Lady Melania welcomed the royals to the White House Monday
for a cupa and a ramble.
And yesterday, Charles addressed a joint,
meeting of Congress with a speech calling the U.S.-UK. relationship, quote,
one of the greatest alliances in human history.
Next up, the pair head to NYC to commemorate 9-11 ahead of the 25th anniversary.
A spot attention remains.
Trump has criticized Britain's PM Starmer's decision to sit out the Iran war,
and a recent Pentagon email suggested Uncle Sam's reconsidering backing
Britain's claim on the disputed Falkland Islands. Here's what Romans 12 says to do whether your
relationships are full of joy or taught with tension. Love one another deeply as brothers and
sisters. Take the lead in honoring one another. Share with the saints in their needs. Pursue
hospitality. Bless those who persecute you. Bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who
rejoice. Weep with those who weep. If possible,
as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Silicon Valley heavyweights, Elon Musk and Sam Altman are stepping into the ring,
the legal ring, that is.
Opening arguments began in a California federal court yesterday as Musk,
an Open AI co-founder, is suing the company, fellow co-founders Altman and Greg Brockman,
and major investor Microsoft, for $134 billion in, quote, wrongful gain.
Musk claims defendants used his clout and cash to abandon OpenAI's humanity-helping mission
and turn the nonprofit into a, quote, wealth machine.
OpenAI argues the now ex-AI leader who left OpenAI in 2018, 13 months before a for-profit
entity formed, wanted, quote, absolute control of the startup and calls the suit a, quote,
baseless and jealous bid to derail a competitor.
Beyond the $134 billion, which he says he donate to OpenAI's existing nonprofit,
Musk wants the chat GPT creator to Control X, Altman, Brockman, and its for-profit arm,
a move that could close Open AI's path toward going public.
The outcomes of even the most high-profile trials aren't a surprise to God.
No matter what happens in court or in the great AI race, our hope is,
is rooted in Christ, our perfect judge, great innovator, and sovereign Lord.
1. Peter 1, 3 through 4 says,
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Because of His great mercy, he has given us new birth into a living hope
through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading,
kept in heaven for you.
With over 1,000 translations in every type of decorative edition,
it's easy to forget how many people can't even get their hands on a single copy of the Bible in their native language.
This is why we've partnered with Crew.
Crew has missionaries in almost every country, but they need more Bibles.
One missionary said,
I have never seen such a thirst for the Word of God in my country.
Let's quench that thirst.
For just $24 a month, you can provide three people with Bibles,
every month. As a bonus,
crew will provide meals to 12-hungry individuals through their humanitarian ministry

In other brews, here's a rapid round of updates.

ending a multi-year legal fight.
Hours later, Republican Governor DeSantis,
unveiled a proposed Florida map that could net the GOP for more seats.
Florida's legislature opens a special session Tuesday to consider.
Uncle Sam seems unimpressed with Iran's latest peace proposal.
The Islamic Republic's offer would unblock the Strait of Hormuz,
if the U.S. lifts its naval blockade, ends the war,
and takes nuclear negotiations off the table.
Officials said the offer looked, quote,
better than previous drafts,
but then President Trump would only accept a deal
that permanently powers down Iran's nuclear operations.

which reduced the energy needed to run.
Former FBI director James Comey was indicted by the DOJ yesterday
over his Instagram post last May, showing 8647, written in seashells.

prompting allegations that Comey was calling for Trump's assassination.
Comey removed the image shortly after posting, saying he, quote,
didn't realize some folks associate those numbers with violence.

Is your view of Jesus shaped by culture or by scripture?
The answer might surprise you.
In today's world, it's easy to turn Jesus into a life coach, a therapist, or a political ally.
We don't want a disruptive Savior, just a convenient one.
In their book, The Missing Messiah, Kyle Eiddleman and Mark Moore will help you understand how the culture we live in has taught us to reshape Jesus into our own image, and will teach you how to stop treating him as an accessory and start following him as king.
If you believe there's a more revolutionary, more majestic Messiah than the one you've always heard about, visit Missing Messiah.com to learn more.
Thanks.
