Hey, this is Joe.
And this is Bailey.
Today, we're talking about an appeals court pausing doctors' ability to send a common abortion pill regiment by mail.
President Trump declaring the Iran war over and the U.S. pulling troops from Germany,
Spirit Airlines shutting down all operations, and other top news for Monday, may the fourth be with you.
Stay informed while remaining focused on Christ with the pourover.
Here's your quote of the day.
One of the most beautiful gifts in the world is the gift of encouragement, John O'Donohue.
Let's get started with some espresso shots.
The most common method of abortion in the U.S. in at-home two-pill regimen of Mithopristone and Miceoprostol is temporarily unavailable through the mail.
On Friday, in appeals court paused an FDA rule allowing doctors to send Mithopristone by mail without first
seeing their patients in person.
The unanimous panel of Republican-appointed judges said Louisiana, which brought the suit,
was likely to win its arguments that, number one, the FDA's rationale for allowing telehealth
Mitha-Pristone prescriptions was based on flawed data that doesn't track women's non-fatal side
effects, and number two, the Bayou State, which bans medical abortions, would suffer, quote,
irreparable harm if the FDA's policy remained in place while Louisiana continued litigation.
Louisiana's Attorney General celebrated that the, quote, nightmare is over. A Miphypristone manufacturer
said the ruling will cause, quote, chaos and asked the U.S. Supreme Court to restore nationwide
mail order access. When discussing divisive topics like abortion, remember that both your
position and your posture reflect on Christ. Believers are called to seek the good of the unborn,
single mothers, women who have received abortions, and people who passionately disagree with you on
this topic. Luke 6, verse 32 and 35 says,
If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love
them. But love your enemies, do what is good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Then,
Your reward will be great, and you will be children of the most high.
President Trump declared the U.S. Iran war was over on Friday.
In a letter to Congress, number 47 wrote that, quote,
The hostilities that began February 28, 26, have terminated, citing the April 7th ceasefire,
while warning that Iran still poses a, quote, significant threat.
The framing sidesteps the war powers resolution, which requires.
Congressional sign-off to keep U.S. forces engaged in conflict for more than 60 days.
Senate Democrats countered, saying ongoing U.S. Navy blockades of Iranian oil count as a, quote,
continuing act of war. Meanwhile, the Pentagon confirmed it'll pull roughly 5,000 troops from
Germany over 6 to 12 months. The decision follows a spat between Trump and German Chancellor
Mayors. Trump criticized Germany-slash-NATO for not helping the United States.
in Iran, while Merritt's said Washington was being, quote, humiliated in ceasefire talks.
Senior Republican lawmakers warned a drawdown could send, quote, the wrong signal to Russia.
In the face of massive global conflicts around the world, it's easy to feel helpless.
But today and this week, there's something powerful and effective you can do.
Pray for world leaders.
Let's pray this prayer from early church leader Clement of Rome together.
Lord and Master, you have given these rulers the power of sovereignty through your own mighty power.
Grant unto these leaders' health, peace, unity, and stability, so they can administer without
failure the government you have given them. For you, heavenly master and king of the ages,
you give ordinary people glory, honor, and power over all things in this world. Direct their
leadership in a way that is good and well-pleasing in your sight.
Amen.
Spirit Airlines has been grounded for good.
Early Saturday, the Budget Air Traveler Pioneer announced it shutting down all operations,
becoming the first major airline to go out of business in 25 years.
Spirit has lost over $2.5 billion since 2020 and filed its second bankruptcy in 2025,
saying it had, quote, substantial doubt about its future prospects,
but airline officials credit surging jet fuel prices from the Iran War as the final headwind.
The drinks and everything else not included airline
had hoped to land a $500 million lifeline deal with the federal government,
but the creditors holding Spirits IOUs rejected the plan.
All flights were immediately canceled.
Travelers were promised refunds for tickets booked through Spirits' website
and told not to go to the airport.
several major carriers, including United, Southwest, and American, are offering capped fares for
affected flyers with proof of a spirit itinerary.
Here's a verse to consider whether your spirits are up, down, or somewhere in between.
For I'm persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present,
nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing
will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8, verse 38 through 39.
Hey, it's Emily. I love a good budget.
Like, genuinely love it.
So when gas prices creep up, I feel it because my gas column takes the hit.
That's why I'm such a fan of upside.
I've been using it so long now that it's just a habit.
Before every fill up, I open the app, claim an offer, pay with my card like normal, and get cash back.
It's so simple.
And when I say cash back, I mean real cashback.
Not points or credits, but real money you can transfer straight to your bank account.
And you can stack it right on top of your existing credit card rewards.
I can't fix gas prices doing that thing again, but I can make sure I'm not leaving money on
the table every single time I fill up.
Upside has given back $1 billion to its users.
To find out how much you could earn, download the free Upside app and use promo code TPO
to get an extra $0.25 cents back for every gallon on your $1,000.

Thursday, President Trump signed an executive order expanding retirement account access for workers
without employer benefits. Trump IRA.gov, said to launch January 27, could help those 56-ish-million
Americans compare low-cost retirement plans. The order integrates with a Biden-era law that matches
up to $1,000 for certain workers who contribute to an IRA. The FDA is expanding access to an
experimental pancreatic cancer drug. Drug-maker Revolution Medicines reported that patients on
Diraxin-Rassib, called a, quote, miracle by former Senator Ben Sass, who has terminal pancreatic
cancer, survived around six and a half months longer than those who underwent chemotherapy.
Diraxon Rassib hasn't been officially approved but is available under the FDA's
compassionate use program for terminally ill patients without other options.
The Pentagon drafted its AI starting lineup and one big name didn't make the cut.
The Pentagon Inc. deals Friday with seven big tech companies, SpaceX, OpenAI, Google,
Microsoft, NVIDIA, AWS, and Reflection to power its classified networks.
Anthropic was notably left out as the administration labeled the Claude Creator a, quote,
supply chain risk over the AI firm's insistence on military use guardrails.
A search is underway for two U.S. service members who went missing in Morocco after a multinational
training exercise.
The Army soldiers were last seen during a recreational hike
along ocean cliffs near the Cap Draught training area in the North African country.
Initial reports suggest they may have fallen into the ocean
and no foul play is suspected.
The last shall be first.
Golden Tempo, a 23-1 long shot,
charged from dead last to win the 152nd Kentucky Derby Saturday,
making Cherie DeVoe the first female trainer to ask,
ever win the run for the roses, and just the second woman to win any triple crown race.
Jockey Jose Ortiz guided the cult past favorite renegade in two minutes and 2.27 seconds.
That's all the news we have for today, but here's some good news to dwell on.
Jesus is with us always to the very end of the age.
